i’m gonna cry it’s raining right now and i just passed by a family where both parents were without an umbrella but their kid who couldn’t have been older than like 3-4 was proudly holding this GIANT umbrella whose diameter was as tall (if not taller) as the kid. both the parents were getting absolutely drenched but u could tell the kid was just so happy to have an “adult” task and carry the umbrella themselves and i think that sacrifice is what love is all about

preface: i am wine drunk to cope with the election. apologies for incoherencey.

my first date with yuta was typical dinner and a movie. he mulled over several ideas for it, but at the end of the day he’s not very creative and very anxious, so he went with the tried and true.

we went and saw some big blockbuster movie in a franchise (like the new planet of the apes movie). except to prepare for it i watched all the preceding movies, and he didn’t even realize it wasn’t a stand alone so he went in completely blind. i was nervous during the trailers, stiff, scared to use the shared arm rest, but after i started getting into the movie, i was totally engrossed. as i watched the movie and glanced at him whenever something major happened or it referenced a previous movie, he watched me out of the corner of his eye most of the time and really only looked at the screen when i prompted him to.

when the movie was over we went and got pizza. the whole ride to the restaurant i talked about the movie and he just nodded and agreed bc he saw maybe 5 minutes total of it. when we sat down to eat i asked what he thought about it and that’s when he admitted that he didn’t really follow it well because he hadn’t seen the previous movies. my jaw fucking dropped. so i went into explaining the cinematic universe from the start because i had gotten really into the series in preparation for this date. as i explained it to him he got more interested, just based on my passion for it, and said that we should watch all the movies together some time. i immediately agreed and we decided that a movie marathon was going to be our second date.

after the movie topic was exhausted, we played 20 questions as we ate and he drove me back home. except we vastly exceeded 20 questions and ended up sitting and talking in my drive way for 40 more minutes before we realized the time. as he walked me to my door i apologized for doing most of the talking and he just blinked at me and went

“You are a thousand times more interesting than any movie I’ve ever seen. You’d get tired of talking well before I’d get tired of listening.”

And as someone who thinks she is the most annoying person on the planet, that is the hottest thing anyone had ever said to me and I kissed him on my front step for another 5 minutes.

i love being able to see how in love people are with their f/os its genuinely so beautiful this is so sweet and well thought out, im kicking my feet like i got this as a text message at 3am from a friend on their first date, thank you so much for sharing this with me im giggling right now
