it took minutes for the woman to succumb to the venom, though chiyo did not watch it happen. she considers it a small blessing -- one she doesn't deserve -- that she passed out from blood loss first.

" you don't have to stick around. " the words aren't unkind, but there is a tiredness that chiyo can't quite erase as she meets the other's gaze. after being cleared by the doctor, everyone wants to help her. no one seems to exactly know how, though, and it really isn't their faults. even if she hadn't kept quiet about the details of what happened, she wouldn't know what to do either, doesn't know what to do. chiyo's idea of coping is to run herself ragged, avoid giving herself enough time to dwell on the past.

but her methods have left her worse for wear these days, and judging by her companion's expression, it's beginning to show no matter how good of an actress chiyo might be. her sigh is a heavy thing; chiyo breaks eye contact, running a hand through blonde tresses and catching on a few knots. she'd rather not deal with whatever worried speech they have locked and loaded. she's had enough of those.

" look, i'm not gonna go back out on patrol. i'm gonna rest. " chiyo knows her limits. now, at least, after a stern scolding by her doctor. they weren't happy during her last check up. " don't worry. "

here’s my timeline, spanning from the autumn of 1997 when bluestar was born to the summer of 2004 when fire and ice ends. I love being autistic. It’s not complete.

it is mostly focusing on spottedleaf and mousefur’s lives and trying to figure out their timelines, because the “bluestar leadership pre-ITW” 2 year period is like a dumping ground of vague darkness where every single thunderclan historical event gets sent to die. sometime during that is when a bunch of warriors get disabled, renamed and sent to the elders den. that’s also when thistleclaw dies. I do not respect novella canon btw. those things r full of lies

one thing the timeline has revealed to me that i am very fond of is redtail and bluestar. he became a warrior at the same time as she became deputy, after a very short apprenticeship. he’s given mousefur as an apprentice almost instantly after becoming a warrior. he’s only like 6 months older than her and he’s only had 6 months of apprentice training and no warrior experience! but he does a good job. and clearly bluefur sees something in him. within the year she’s leader with him as her deputy. her right hand man :)

literally a month or two before rusty shows up is a massive plague that kills 7 cats total, including featherwhisker, so spottedleaf only becomes the sole medicine cat at this point. she receives what’s probably her first prophecy (fire alone) and then her brother gets murdered to death and she is dead too within six months. a short and crazy career for her and honestly no wonder she became obsessed with being like a spirit mentor to fireheart. can u imagine if u got the prophecy for the chosen one and then ur like oh boy i JUST got promoted to being the leader of the church around here and it’s my job to guide the chosen one? and then u get murdered. And ur like. Was that really my life’s work. it can’t be over. That was too important. anyway

my main 2 resources for this are the timeline on the warriors wiki, which has its own firestar-as-jesus style of dating … YBF=years before firestar . I love it. Then there’s kate carys timeline which sets Into The Wild into 2003, the year it was published. I love that too. It feels right. I merged those, so if you’re on the warriors wiki, 1YBF is 2002, 2YBF is 2001, etc . 1997 is 6YBF. 2004 is year 2. i supplemented the available info from the blog and wiki with my own research in the books. I favoured earlier and main series canon over later and novella canon, though super editions like bluestar’s prophecy and crookedstar’s promise took precedence over TPB where I felt the info made more sense. there are almost certainly fuckups. Some stuff I couldn’t find any canon mention of so I just put it where it logically would’ve had to go.

yeahhh so that’s basically that. it’s something ive got as a supplemental thing for my spottedmouse writing and drawing. Always working on it.

Feemor and Jon Antilles are the two characters that, when looking for a Star Wars fix-it long fic, I watch out for more than anything. I know for a fact that if those boys show up the fic will be BANGIN. If they’re SHIPPED with someone? Even better. Those boys are the absolute best metric for whether your fic writer is feral enough about extended canon to write a good and proper fix-it fic set before the clone wars. Feemor/Jaster Mereel? Immediately I am hooked. So the Jedi Temple Guard who spends the vast majority of his time faceless, largely because of a neglectful parent, is with the guy who leads the Faceless Helmet Good Parent People? I know there will be cultural discussions and family drama. Hell yes. Jon Antilles meanwhile is such a crackhead concept that a fic containing him is gonna be taking a lot more insane things seriously than just an immortal Jedi with weird trauma. Jocasta Nu being shipped is third in this list btw. Nu x Dooku? Hell yeah, old person romance, the author has a thing for pining and theological debates over tea. Nu x Jaster? Hell yeah, our resident autism man finally got himself into the Jedi Archives if yknow wat I mean. Sifo Dyas also fits into this category of character btw. These are the quality barometer characters of Star Wars pre-clone wars fix it long fic.

Here’s a thought:

"The Mother Gooseberry Hour" is very probably lost media and an urban legend in the Outlast universe, with many people actively debating whether or not it actually existed, or if it is merely creepy pasta bait.

[this is a long one]

Because "The Mother Gooseberry Hour" ran locally and only during the early 50’s [1951 until 1955] there are probably only a select few people remembering it who are also - as of the main series time setting of 2013 - OLD and maybe even dementia ridden. That not only counts for the adults of the time, but the children too, if you consider that the last time it aired was in 1955. Assuming the oldest child watching would be 12 at MOST, the audience members would approximately be between 60 and 70 in 2013. And they certainly would not discuss their hazy memories of a strange TV show they watched on the internet, but instead relay these memories to their own children and grandchildren, who would at first dismiss it because…they never heard of it. Maybe the interest of SOME is peaked, but it’s so obscure that they can’t find anything about it. But then some come to discuss the topic online, only to find that they meet other descendants of people who have ALSO been told about "That strange Dental Goose Show".

Why would I assume the show is lost media though? Phyllis crimes were well documented in contemporary media after all? Well, her crimes may have been, but not THE SHOW.

I do not think that actual tapings would have been preserved because of 1, the reputation of Phyllis herself and the late show’s tone, and 2, not even the moon landing’s broadcast was entirely preserved due to a practice where TV broadcasters would repurpose old tape and record over them to save money. Storage of film was also not ideal with the materials being highly flammable. I’d even go as far as to assume that the earliest broadcasts of "The Mother Gooseberry Hour" didn’t even exist anymore, while the show was still on the air, because of that practice. If you’ve stuck your nose into the lost media rabbit hole, you may know about the whole Doctor Who debacle, which is very similar. There would have been no interest in preserving a niche, localised tv programme for children back in the day. The ONLY way that ANY tapings could still survive until 2013 would be through Murkoff. I would bet that they would have been the only ones with an interest to acquire tapings of such a show, you know, for archival and research purposes on Phyllis’ life and psyche. MAYBE the Philadelphia PD would have them in their archives but like…that’s a stretch. Who knows.

Anyways, so some may argue that "But there is Doctor Futterman merch in the Trial environments though?" Well yes, but I think that this was simply done to immerse Phyllis into the idea that she is still a successful TV show host. The merch [and all the Dr Futterman brand sex toys btw] is not real merch from the outside world, it’s just props like everything else in Sinyala. Yes, the show was popular, but it was also - again - localised to Philadelphia. If there WAS merchandise, it would have been limited in number, and limited in distribution because…why would you want a plushie of a character from a show you’ve never heard of? In that case, merch would have been obscure too, and dismissed as bootleg Disney plushies.

Anyways, SO:

Early 2010’s in the OL universe. Creepypasta culture is alive and well, and Miles, Lynn, Blake, Waylon & Lisa being media literate adults because of their professions have at least heard of the story of "That strange Dental Goose Show". Neither of them is from Pensilvania though, so they only know of if through online accounts. For shits & giggles [assuming the all of them were friends pre canon, a headcanon which I fuck with HARD] they one evening get together and - with the power of god and journalism on their side - they come across an obituary of a Dentist, one Dr. A. Futterman, through which they come across old articles reporting on Phyllis’ Futterman’s arrest that mention her being the host of a show that seems rather a lot like "That strange Dental Goose Show". What is weird though, is that after her commitment to Holmesburg…the paper trail on Phyllis Futterman just…stops: No Obituary, no patient files mention her after 1956, the only hint of what has become of her is when she is being mentioned offhandedly in a correspondence document about patient transfer in 1956. It’s never mentioned where she got transferred. Who is the man who visited her in December of that year, shortly before her alleged transfer? Why is that man’s name redacted? What did they talk about?

Instant Intrigue.

Miles and Lynn are SO tempted to look more into the Holmesburg lead, while Blake and Waylon are hung up about that show. Because Blake found something…strange. Most people who remember "That strange Dental Goose Show" are from the Pensilvania area. That’s what connects all accounts and is consistent accords the board. Maybe the descendants of those who remember moved to a different state, but the "rememberers" themselves were ALL Philadelphia residents…except…there are accounts from people that sound fabricated at first glance, but then Blake and Waylon find more that are eerily similar, and feel entirely earnest:

Accounts of relatives or friends from people who all died under strange circumstances. People who lived distinctly OUTSIDE Philadelphia. People who don’t remember the show, but the "Mother Gooseberry" character. Except in these versions she is a nightmarish murderer who hunted them down with a drill inside her hand puppet. Her face mangled and decaying, her breathing laboured and heavy with each heavy step. Engaged in strange conversation with her goose puppet, as if it was a real person. An effigy of someone. They described their incredibly hazy memories of her like…a dream, a distant memory. But it’s consistent every time.

Waylon thinks they’re totally fake, and Lynn agrees but…Blake disagrees. See, the "rememberers" relayed accounts almost PERFECTLY describe how she looked after the Holmesburg experiments, instead of how the "rememberers" of the show described what she looked like on air. And the former group - again - were never in Philadelphia, not to mention anywhere near Holmesburg prison.

And…all the "rememberers" who recalled that monstrous version…are dead now. Having passed on in a year that is weirdly consistent every time: 1973. Miles has a suspicion. It’s something he researched just recently. He scrolls through pages and pages of links until he finds the article he remembers containing exactly that year too: In an article about the closure of Mount Massive Hospital he rediscovers it: It’s the year of the official discontinuation of MKUltra.

Either this is a STUPIDLY elaborate ARG…or something is wrong here…VERY wrong…

Bragging a little about Jason in WTHB before I go into my pre-Christmas bath and then go back with writing (which is, btw, the reason I haven’t been that much on tumblr like the previous months, I literally want to finish this mini arc of gigantic chapters 😭🕊️)

So, I was rereading everything that I wrote so far (for the thousandth time, because I always feel like I’m forgetting something), but this was my first reread with Jason’s chapter included.

Like, I yall don’t know, Jason is one of my favourite characters from the Riordanverse 😭😭😭 ironic, isn’t it? But fr, I liked him even I was really confused on WHY Percy wasn’t narrating my newly bought book of the Lost Hero. But like, I spent so much time writing that chapter that even though I was still aware of how much I liked Jason, I was kinda numbed already.

I picked Jason to have this narrative arc in the story very early on, though the tone became darker as I started working on it. Was it hard making one of my favourite characters become a bit (very much) of a villain? Uh… not much. I really don’t mind making the characters go through the worse, so it didn’t hurt me… as a writer.

But as a reader… omg I feel so bad for him. Like, I have privileged information so let me be ok?

It’s not that I feel bad for the Jason that did all those horrible things, but I feel bad for the Jason who was basically groomed into becoming a monster. Because it always bothered me how much brainwashed the romans felt on the books, even if sometimes it was used as comic relief, so I wanted to make it The Worst As Possible ™️. Like, imagine sending kids and teens to live with WOLVES so they can be accepted in an ARMY. Crazy.

In canon, Jason always felt like the most tragic character of the seven, because everyone else had an opportunity to build a identity outside of being a demigod, but he was always shackled to either Juno or Jupiter. The only one who had a similar experience but not as much I’d say was Annabeth, but even her was somewhat freed from it and her case is obviously different because CHB and CJ work very differently and build different people, but that’s not the point.

So, I have this little rule that is: Make Your Character Go Through The Worst That Could Even Happen To Them. Like, for real, it will set your story in motion. Is not about like, killing them or something. Is literally the Worst Thing ™️. For Percy, it was having the boys taken from her. That was her worst fear. But not always our characters know what’s worst for them, and sometimes the worst is… when nothing changes in their lives.

As yeah, this is cruel to the characters. I’m not saying that losing his memories was the best thing that could’ve happen to Jason, that was cruel of Juno. But sometimes for the story to be set in motion, someone will have to be cruel (usually the author lol). I particularly like the amnesia trope (maybe that’s the reason why I liked Jason so quickly 🤨), so I think it was a rather interesting choice for him in canon, so he could find out who he was without the things they held him back.

Actually, comments: I don’t like that he died but I understand why his death is so tragic and I don’t absolutely hate that it happens, though it hurt me.

But, for me, in the world of WTHB, the worst thing that could happen to Jason was staying in Rome. Like, how can he get to know himself in a place that already decided who he is? Which led Jason in WTHB to become… that.

Which of course, doesn’t change a single thing of the horrors he committed, this is not me being apologetic toward him. He and Annabeth are monsters now, though in different ways.

His character arc will be interesting to write? Yeah, can’t wait for it.

pony's obviously 14 and kinda hates the socs with a violent passion because they jumped johnny (setting these hcs pre-canon btw so no fountain shenanigans)

darry has his own feelings about it all because of how things ended between him and paul

but when they see how hard chet's trying, and how softly soda reassures him when he thinks his brothers aren't looking, they're won over immediately

when chet accidentally lets it slip that his home life isn't great, it's darry who offers for him to stay the night, which has soda literally bouncing off the walls in happiness because he's so happy that darry's giving chet a chance

unfortunately pony is still 14, but he keeps his comments to himself, even if he's squinting at chet the whole time and trying to seem menacing

well chet's first mistake was interrupting them at the drive-in to pull them away right to the back to meet soda

bev was already pissed off

when chet introduces them to soda and says "we're kinda going steady" brill is literally 🧍 "oh"

honestly brill's replaying every single interaction he's had with chet where someone's tried to set him up with a girl and chet just went "nope!"

bev immediately goes off on one about how chet should know better than to date a greaser (but she has no issue with him being queer !! ), which soda was expecting, but chet's just kinda there like ☹️ because he was really holding out hope

and when bev and brill notice he looks really upset, and like he's trying not to cry, they immediately swoop in to comfort him and promise that they don't think of him any differently

bev says she'd be willing to give soda a chance, meanwhile brill is already exchanging contact details with him because he is a sociable diva 🫶

The Rogue and Gambit Project: Previously On X-Men... Gambit

It's time to talk about Gambit! The nice thing about Gambit is that he was, at the time, a relatively new character, having only been around in the comics for about a year. Which means there is way less to cover! Boy, are we going to have to deal with some questionable art, though.

The Basics:

Name: Remy Etienne* LeBeau

*Okay, so, this is the funny thing about the name Etienne. Apparently, it started out as fanlore, and - as so many things that happen in fandom - gained popularity as fanon from a particularly well known piece of fanfiction from way back when. I believe it's actually been used in canon at this point. It is on Marvel.com - which is the official site. I'll keep a look out for it to show up.

Also, in case you didn't know (and I'm sure you did), Le Beau is French for The Beautiful.

Backstory: Just like Rogue, Gambit's backstory is shrouded in mystery. He's a thief. He's from New Orleans. He's Cajun. That's all your getting for now. Don't worry, we'll peel back the layers. ;)

Power Set (via uncannyxmen.net):  interkinetic power allows him to produce bio-kinetic energy within his body and use it to convert any inorganic object's potential energy into kinetic energy on contact, making the object highly volatile and explosive on contact, internal energy also grants him heightened agility and creates static interference that shields his mind from detection

I should also give the obligatory comment of - these powers are toned down from his full abilities because of /reasons/ which we'll get to eventually. He had Mr. Sinister give him a lobotomy and, we've all been suffering the consequences sense.

I have to start by appreciating the fact that Gambit is a thief who wears bright pink and metal boots. It's a bold look.

Anyway, the funny thing about Gambit is that the character he turned out to be ended up being a lot different from creator Chris Claremont's initial ideas. Apparently, he was supposed to be, ultimately, a villain and, while he was supposed to be a love interest for one of our characters, it wasn't Rogue, it was... Kitty Pryde. He was also supposed to be a Mr. Sinister creation and a third summers brother. Yeah, I'm kind of glad Claremont left before any of this stuff really came to fruition.

Also, I once read that Claremont claim that original artist Mike Collins made Gambit too pretty. Which is funny, because ngl, I really am not a fan of the look in his debut, and it will be a while before he really earns his name.

Uncanny X-Men #266

I also want to note that Gambit's powers were a little different back then. He didn't have playing cards yet, and instead used metal spikes as throwing devices. The powers were designated in green. And were charged from his eyes. Also, interesting to note - his eyes aren't red on black yet, either.

There's also 'hypnotic charm' thing that was kinda used in the early appearances. He does use it in his first appearance to tame some of the Shadow King's Hounds.

He's gonna be calling her 'Stormy' for years. She's gonna love it. ;) (Btw - he calls her Stormy 4 times in this issue alone.)

Okay, so... Gambit shows up, crossing paths with Storm at a mansion of some rich person. Storm is de-aged (for... reasons) and is running from the Shadow King and his minions. He's busy stealing art from the rich dude (who apparently is not home and has no security, lol).

And thus, one of my favorite comic book friendships is born. And really, this first appearance is a lot of fun as Gambit and Storm play off each other's strengths to get away from the Shadow King.

Uncanny X-Men 267

Jim Lee is going to add some of Gambit's more iconic features -- such as throwing playing cards (Gambit's Ace of Spades shows up in this next issue) and using some kind of staff (hilariously, it's a broom in this issue).

Storm and Gambit's adventures continue. He takes her to New Orleans for a while so she can recover from the Shadow King. They go thieving -- playing Robin Hood -- stealing from rich people because they can. And then the Orphan Maker comes along, who makes Storm a teenager? (Idk - the whole thing is weird - she'll become her real age again in the next story arc.)

Fun fact: Because of release dates and such, Uncanny X-Men #266 wasn't the first comic released to have Gambit in it. The Annual technically came out first, though it clearly takes place after Uncanny 266-267. But this is the first time we see Gambit among the X-Men team. Not that he does anything remotely interesting during this whole thing. He doesn't even speak, kind of hides awkwardly in the background.

Gambit joins the team just as the mega X-tinction Agenda crossover starts. (Uncanny X-Men joins New Mutants and X-Factor for this one) And, I'll be honest, this isn't one of my favorite crossovers. The whole thing revolves around the nation of Genosha, how they're using mutants for slaves, and how all the teams come together to change the status quo. And of course, mutants get capture and tortured and a few killed. Fwiw X-Men: The Animated Series did do this storyline.

Uncanny X-Men #270

Gambit and Cable don't (won't) get to cross paths very often, so I found this an interesting panel. Anyway... Gambit really has very little to do during this crossover. When Storm gets captured, he is really concerned for her (as he considers her his partner at the moment) but he's not really vibe-ing the whole team dynamic yet.

Uncanny X-Men #272

This is arguably the coolest thing Gambit's done as of yet. Dude pulls a spike out of his leg to use as a lockpick and gets himself rescued. I'm glad they give him this, because, again, for the most part he's just kinda hanging around in the background not doing much.

I will say - he and Jubilee get to cross paths, which is going to be a source of fun in the next arc.

Space Shenanigans (Uncanny X-Men 273-277)

Some of my favorite issues are when the team is regrouping. Post- X-Tinction Agenda, it's clear that things in the X-Office were changing. Claremont is at this point sort of being pushed out, while Jim Lee and Co are becoming more the driving force behind the books. On panel, the teams are kind of merging. X-Factor's first era is drawing to a close, and the X-Men are resolidifying after being in flux for so long.

We're about to get a Space Soap Opera, as Claremont so dearly loves, but this issue is a bit of a breather between the arcs. And we get this bit of tension between Storm and Gambit - where Gambit is ready to move on, but Storm is back on solid footing again. They don't explicitly state why Gambit sticks around, but he definitely does...

Uncanny X-Men 273

I swear, this is Chris Claremont's favorite joke. He's used it before this moment, and he'll do it again. It's impactful the first time, but it does get old the more Claremont does it. However, we get the first highlight of the dynamic between Gambit and Wolverine -- which will be antagonistic for a while, but is fascinating.

The whole crux of this arc, that I've been kind of ignoring, involves Xavier being brainwashed in space (or something) and of course the X-Men get involved in space politics (again). Honestly, space stories are Claremont's favorite trope, so it doesn't surprise me that the end of his run are filled with a couple of them.

Anyway -- if there's one person impervious to Gambit's charms - it's Jubilee. They get to hang out a lot during this arc, and it's really delightful since they team up to kind of figure out what is going on with Xavier acting weird and all the odd space kool-aide people are drinking.

I actually really like this cover. Gambit's got a sword and a spear! Plus, he looks like his 90s cool self now. The blue and yellow uniform doesn't suit him AT. ALL. But we don't have to deal with it too much longer...

The nice thing about this whole space arc is that Gambit really gets to come into his own. He now looks cool (note the red eyes are here!). He's doing fun stuff. He's taking on Wolverine and holding his own. He's being smart and tactical and an asset. They've paired him with some great X-Men to start off with, and it's paying off.

Meanwhile, we don't really know much about him. As many of the other characters state, his background is shrouded in mystery... (whether you like what it actually is can be debated as we get to it). But for now, he's intriguing as a new comer.

And this is where we're at as two story lines come crashing together and our two romantic leads get to meet for the first time.... off panel.

But I'll get more into that next time when I discuss... The Muir Island Saga!

Quick thoughts: One Piece chapter 1133

Still 100 years behind the canon story but trying to catch up and wanted to take a sneak peek on newer chapters because they appeared on the dash and I completely understand the hype now.

First of all, I'm happy that Oda-sensei returned Robin's pre-time skip look and even cuter is that Robin specifically requested it so it would resemble the haircut she had when she first met Saul. In general there isn't anything wrong with her post time skip look but I personally think the bangs makes Robin much more unique because well it was her look ever since she was introduced and it took some time to get used to the later look.

Frankly spoken once I mistook her once for Hancock by quick glance in chapter 857's cover page (before I noticed the earrings and the snake) maybe it was just because of the way Oda draws women or something?

Kinda had similar feelings with post timeskip Nami, that it took time to get used to the long hair and that a couple of times when scrolling manga way too quickly, I've mixed Nami with someone else a couple of times (and btw that Giant warrior woman, doctor Gerd was it? she also looks like a bit like Nami with the hairstyle and all). So, even though the long hair is stylish, I still think the shorter hair fits Nami better (but that viking hairstyle looks good on her though).

Another thing especially in anime that bothered with Robin's hairstyle was that sometimes Robin's forehead looked for some reason bigger so, definitely rooting on the team "Robin with bangs".

Anyway back to the chapter, the Straw hats arrived to Elbaf and are not only having a a reunion with the crew but also with Dorry and Brogy etc. That must've been such a nostalgia splash for all of them and then they hear Saul is there and this is another heartbreaking yet so darn beautiful moment ahead :')

It's honestly amazing how Oda is able to create such storytelling in general and also close the circles of plots even after hundreds of chapters. Robin started with someone who was abused by her relatives and was constantly on her toes for a long time whereas she simply craved for unconditional love after her mother not being able to be around much. She basically lived for Olvia's (and Saul's) will and in order to simply survive the next day until she met Luffy, her upcoming captain.

Now hundreds (thousands?) panels of later we have reached this point where Robin has a loving crew that she knows are extremely loyal to her. They are her safe place and she now pursuits her dream the fullest (not just to survive) .

So now to think about it, now Robin basically got some kind of closure with her past when meeting Saul 22 years later. It was also really nice of Oda to set the meeting with such a parallel, 22yrs ago and in the present Saul tried his "famous growl" once again with a spark in his eyes and Robin sparkles back and this time differently (like she has blossomed and isn't so reserved)

It was indeed a tearful reunion but I really love that Robin is finally able to let those emotions out, I mean when she was out of the run she was probably forced to "cold and distant herself" in order to stay alive (although she probably never forgot Saul's dereshi shi shi-laugh). She feels so relieved after seeing Saul and her being so happy things have changed in her life.

So, this chapter points out one the most important character improvement for Nico Robin: instead of living for others, she lives now for herself and sees her self worth and that definitely it's no more an crime for her to exist!

I really like that the crew were a bit worried about Saul and were basically prepared to help him but Robin says it's all fine and goes by herself but it seems that she still kind of wants to share this reunion with her beloved nakama because she doesn't say at any point they aren't allowed to be anywhere near. Well they stay in the background but still she feels safe enough to accept them to be around in this vulnerable moment.

There is by the way something extremely touching in Luffy's expression in the chapter's last panel. He must've felt loads of emotions too but look at that precious smile! He is so proud of how far Robin has achieved!

- darry is way to busy worrying about paul to care that much. he just lectures soda abt her friends and to not get her pregnant (soda is uncomfortable and starts yelling over darry LALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU)

- pony is oblivious as hell like cherry could be coming over for dinner daily and he’d be like “wow theyre such good friends” but soda never outwardly tells ponyboy. pony found out bc soda was telling steve that he needed to pick up flowers for his girl and pony was like “who the fuck” and soda was like are u dumb.

- BC SODA TALKS ABT CHERRY SOOO OFTEN THAT DARRY GETS ALL MAD AND TELLS HIM TO SHUT UP obviously bc his own love life sucks and pony is just like yep besties.

- but pony takes it better than you would think. like he’s a little annoyed that soda took her from him (ponyboy sit down youre 14 thanks) but in the end he loves having cherry at the house for dinner bc they YAP

- steve is another story. this man is PRESSED that he’s being replaced. like soda told him at work one day that he was talking to cherry and steve was asking so many questions and making backhanded comments (ex. why a soc? isnt she a bitch? i heard she only goes for rich guys.) not bc he’s mean!! he doesnt wanna be replaced as soda’s best friend! even though soda reassures him multiple times!

- in the end theyre fine, steve stays slightly bitter when soda blows plans off to see cherry (“she was sad because her shoe broke and i needed to be there to help her!”) cherry clocks his distaste for her so she tries to be overly nice which makes steve annoyed. but he knows soda needs someone to be there for him,,,,,, so he puts their differences aside. HE STILL WONT THIRD WHEEL THOUGH

- ace is just happy she doesnt like her anymore (girlkisser)

- two bit and everyone else is just like. sure. they dont care either way but they make fun of soda because hes just so in love with her. like he’ll be staring at a picture of her for ten minutes and two bit will shove him and call him “cherry’s bitch” but soda is proud of it. like he bagged the prettiest girl in tulsa. he is so lucky and says it every day. btw two bit also asks to be set up with marcia. (“what about her brunette friend? she also into greasers?”)

- bev and marcia are told at the same time, but theyre complete opposites. cherry tells them together and they both go “WHAT???” but bev is like �� and marcia is like 😄 bev is a d1 hater. like she is PISSED she cant stand those fucking greasers. and marcia asks about two bit. (“heyy… do you know anything about keith?? like is he seeing anyone? not like i care… haha…”)

- but bev realizes that paul and darry are actually way more annoying to deal with than soda and cherry. bc cherrycola is just so happy and literally the it couple. but parry is all over the place like these boys are sobbing and crashing their car and always upset etc. cherrycola is a waste of her time and energy. (“just dont get knocked up, cherry, or i’ll drop you right then and there.”) (she doesnt mean it she loves cherry and learns to love soda eventually) (maybe)

- paul, like darry, is preoccupied. i like to believe he doesnt even like,,,, process it for a good week. like he forgets she ever said anything

- the other soc boys find out because bev cant keep a secret. they confront cherry but she cries and they apologize and never bring it up to her again. but they do shit talk soda amongst themselves (“the curtis family is cursed” “his brother basically killed bob”)

bonus: i always think cherrycola is post canon but if it was pre/during canon

- dallas a biiiitch about it. he overhears soda talking to someone about it and practically forces steve to tell him who it is. he makes nasty sexual comments about cherry and darry has to physically hold soda back. dally said its a joke but was it really. cherry refuses to speak to him at parties unless he apologizes (he has too much pride and doesnt)

- he makes soda cry with a mean comment about their relationship and then apologizes to SODA, never to cherry. obv he feels bad but its still mean

- johnny doesnt say much about it- he actually just doesnt gaf. he has too much to worry about with his family. but he doesnt mind cherry at all! after the awkwardness goes away they talk a bit and bond over shitty families
