Haven't been on here for a bit, but I just have to talk about the Fellow and Gidel name change in TWST EN because it's actually so insane, and like it still hasn't hit me completely- it's literally so unreal to me and I feel like I need to get these thoughts into some sort of way, so I'm putting them here lol

I'm just gonna start with- My concern about this is that Fellow's EN name, 'Ernesto Foulworth' IS NOT MARKETABLE. Personally for me, this name isn't memorable at all, I mean- people could remember it- but as a joke (like literally right now) and not as an actual name. Not only that, but while there may be people who will probably call him by that name, it will only be a minority and not the majority, and that isn't a good thing, especially when you're trying to market a character to someone for your silly haha mobile game 💀

(This is more of a me thing):

Even if I wanted to call Fellow by 'Ernesto', it wouldn't personally work out for me, because I already have a favorite character with the same fcking name (cough cough Ernesto de la Cruz cough cough). Not only that, but I rp with my friend sometimes, and we kind of made it an unspoken rule that we wouldn't call two characters with the same name, it has to be either one character or the other. Even in general, it would be inconvenient for me to emphasize which Ernesto I'm talking about 😭

Also, I'm Latina, and when I try to say 'Ernesto Foulworth', it's in completely two different accents, and it just doesn't flow smoothly in my mouth like Fellow Honest 💀

Though, in term of Gidel's name being changed into Gino, it's fine- I don't hate it that's for sure-

Like I understand the meaning of the localized names- but at the same time...man- they just don't hit with me-

at the end of the day it’s the Internet and people are gonna read and do as they please. for example, all of us chronically online growing up have read at least one smut before like everybody and they mama would be lying if they saw a minors dni and they read it anyone and now ended up like this (an absolute fein for fanfiction) because at the end of the day people are gonna do what they want.

don’t get me wrong, you SHOULD put that labeling because some minors may actually want to avoid that content. now, because you’re putting adults interact…lemme just tell you rn if a grown ass mf searched up the tag to find some x reader of a teenager then i promise you that a “adult dni” is gonna stop em💀💀 you should still put the adult dni, but no matter what an adult will interact with it because they gonna read what they wanna read.

my best advice is just to not stress about it. if you get backlash because an adult is offended to not interact with romantic content of a teenager, just block them. but besides that, there’s nothing really you can do and constantly blocking adults for viewing fics would be tiring and it’s never gonna end. ive been weirded out seeing 21 year olds like my fics of gwen, and when you notice it you can block them but it won’t stop them from viewing other content of that character. and those are accounts that actually put they age, most blogs are blank and you won’t even know. if you want to block accounts that shamelessly have their age but like content of minors, then do so, but im just saying not to stress about it because things like people interacting with content they aren’t supposed to is unfortunately UNAVOIDABLE…..it’s the internet 🤷‍♀️

While there's no official answer to that question, there's a possibility that the 3 side characters have never been made dateable due to the extremely negative backlash Solmare received back in 2021 when the new characters were first added.

All we can do is speculate, but the abuse that was sent to the official accounts is very well-documented (and a lot of it is still publicly viewable today, if you care to go back to find the posts from 3 years ago) Here's a bunch of tweets from Dec 2021-Feb 2022 talking about the discourse that was ongoing at the time:

There was an uproar from a particularly aggressive and toxic group of players, primarily focused around Thirteen and their hatred over a female character daring to simply exist. Lots of the drama centered around "she's a woman, WE DON'T WANT WOMEN IN OUR GAME, she's gonna steal all the men from us!" and similar nonsense.

If you weren't there at the time to witness it for yourself, it's hard to overstate just how vitriolic the discourse around Thirteen actually was.

According to people who were members of the official OM Discord at the time, this group of players were so bad that they literally harrassed Thirteen's voice actor (Itakura-san) off of Twitter. It's now 2024 and Itakura-san has still not returned to social media (that we know of) and she still does not have any social media accounts connected to her JP Talent Profile page.

It's apparently also the reason why the VAs no longer interact with the players nearly as much as they used to during 2019-2021 (as someone who's been around since Day 1, I can confirm that the VAs did used to be more directly interactive with fans back during the early years of the game) because Solmare wanted to limit the opportunities for fan harrassment.

And even by the end of 2023, when Solmare's quarterly profits for Q4 were published, people were still taking the opportunity to attack the staff and place blame on the side characters. A full 2 years after being introduced, Thirteen and Raphael and Mephisto were being blamed by these same fans for the games making less money in 2023.

Just some of the comments on Solmare's 2023 Q4 profits:

So while we can't say anything with certainty and we can only theorise about why the 3 side characters still aren't dateable, it's probably not wrong to look at the extreme negativity and abuse that happened in 2021 (and the continued harrassment and negativity that's still persisting even today)

There's a good amount of in-game content that heavily suggests that Thirteen, Raphael, and Mephisto were meant to be dateable. And we've been getting more flirtatious daily chats and scenes with them ever since Nightbringer came out. It's entirely possible that Solmare had every intention to make these characters dateable a long time ago, but the backlash made them hesitate on pulling the trigger.

And to be 100% honest, I can't even really blame them. If I worked at Solmare, I would want to protect my staff and voice actors as well. The fact that the staff at Solmare were on the receiving end of repeated death threats, and one of the VAs was harrassed to the point of deleting her socials, would make me hesitate to put any of the staff or VAs into the possible line of fire again, as well.

Reminder that all the OM characters are canonly queer/mspec.

Even if you were to ship your straight MC with them. That doesn't automatically erase their queerness. They are still canonly queer/mspec no matter what. 🏳️‍🌈

I’ve literally never seen people get backlash for saying they’re straight but I see endless backlash for people saying they’re unlabeled. Richard Madden has faced more discourse (fwiw I think he does use a label but he just doesn’t want to share) than Taron who said he’s straight. Like can queers stop policing other queers tbh because it’s SO TIRING.

And at the end of the day it’s not about these famous rich people (though with younger celebs like Kit and Joshua it can probably fuck them up a bit). Besties, I’m gonna tell y’all a story again because it was an important life lesson. In undergrad, I had this gay guy I was at that point relatively tight with (weirdly the one that anon found on Twitter talking about Jack 💀) and he had this pretty blonde friend from high school who was like super effeminate and a bit of a woo girl with regards to The Gays™️. She started dating my other guy friend so we hung out a loooot and developed our own friendship like independent of the two guys. I was a baby bi tbh and like super proud of being out and also super into being woke and shit right because I’d just discovered intersectionality and queer theory and stuff. I really liked this girl but I also found her a bit annoying and enjoyed outwoking her and shitting on her a bit. She really liked making jokes about how she fancies me and stuff and I really liked being like “you’re literally straight idk.” We ended up falling out tbh. I stayed friends with the guys. A few years later, turned out that girl is not a girl at all, let alone a straight one. They are an enby lesbian. I messaged to apologize to them and they actually said my comments hurt them a lot back then. We had a good convo about it and I learned to… not be a cunt and not assume people’s sexuality idk.

Some of you need to learn that lesson before you hurt someone like I did.

the thing is I always show my gratitude and I often think what else can I do to show it more, my heart is always so full and it’s fucking selfish of someone to push that away the moment I get realistic and it’s not all 🌸💕🍭😍🥰

I fully realize I’ve achieved so many amazing things and it’s all because of you, to those who always show me support and love. there’s always gonna be someone who gets more and less love. I was clearly talking about a few stories I put out lately and haven’t been a jk fanfic, I talked about how self conscious that makes me because it makes me think the stories are not good enough. I’m honest about my own feelings and the moment I encourage readers to show their love to writers, pointing how a single reblog gets the story further for more readers to read (basically everything probably every writer says at some point) I get a backlash how ungrateful I am and how I should be glad for what I have. I AM GRATEFUL. but it doesn’t mean I’m always happy and I always get good results on a story I work for weeks. it’s not about the numbers of notes, it’s about the simple act of supporting the writer for a story YOU like and read.

for some to say I get paid for writing stories, get your facts fucking straight 🤡 nobody pays me for writing, if they did I probably would’ve lived a different life 💀

it’s the fact this always happens whenever I even remotely say something less positive and I share my thoughts with y’all. I can struggle too and it doesn’t matter if a simple dilf story has over 1k notes. I have other stories. I write other stories beside mh and I also like to write stories about other members. I have the right to get sad or insecure about my own writing. after years of being on this app and writing, I can probably see when someone just doesn’t give a fuck to at least reblog a story they apparently like. I see it with other writers too and it is sad. at the end, this is not only about me but about all the writers who feel like this from time to time.

Branch is far less sociable than even in the first movie with poppy still being the only one to attempt to reach out to him. It’s only after Creek never returns from his spiritual retreat Poppy starts to notice something is up.

I figure it works in an addiction type way, how after a while in order to get the same high you need more of the substance. So where at first a troll could last a good month or so, dwindles down to weeks and even days. But if there’s one thing Branch is good at, it’s being ignored.

And even after Poppy discovers it’s Branch, he’s manipulated her to the point she doesn’t immediately tell others what’s going on. In this or perhaps another separate au of this, Branch tricks Poppy into eating troll as well, now incriminating her as well as influence. It all really just becomes a game of revenge after a point.
