Maybe it's just me but I did not have any strong emotions about Orym saying that the Wildmother was not "his god". My thoughts during that were just "well ya of course." I didn't see it as a moment where he showed a change of heart. I wasn't surprised or caught off guard. Nothing about it seemed new.

Is this something or nothing?
The rules of public travel are simple: do your best to stay in your own space, stay aware of your surroundings, and don’t stare at anyone.
Most people adopt the thousand-yard stare, simply staring through the floor or the window until their stop, where they pop up out of their seat (or straighten up, if holding onto a bar), make their way to the door, and wait to exit.
Steve knows the rules of public travel. He’s been bussed to and from Cincinnati too many times to count: the dubious perks of having rich parents who send you off for school.
He knows to stay in his own space. He knows to keep his eyes to himself.
But he hadn’t slept well the night before. He hadn’t slept well for the previous week, actually, and is going off of roughly twenty combined hours of sleep in the past six days.
None of which happened last night.
He hadn’t realized he was tired enough to fall asleep standing up. Hadn’t realized that was something people could actually do, until the bus was suddenly braking and he was flying through the air, no idea what was happening until he was caught like a goddamn maiden in a story, swooning on a random guy’s arm.
He blinks.
Random Guy blinks, then grins. “Well, hey, big boy,” he starts. “Looks like you just fell for me.”
Steve’s brain isn’t currently working, so all he gets out is a string of cut-off curses as he tries to get his feet under him. “Sorry,” he finally says, which feels really fucking inadequate.
Random Guy just shrugs and grins. “Accidents happen.” He looks up, pats Steve on the shoulder, and says, “Well, you’ve got great timing. This is my stop. See you ‘round, big boy!”
Big boy, Steve mouths as Random Guy turns around, feeling himself flush. Goddammit.
And it wouldn’t have been terrible if that was all he’d seen of Random Guy.
But now that he’s been made aware of his presence, Steve sees him everywhere.
Even worse? He sees Steve, and usually winks, which only serves to make Steve blush.
And even worse than that? Random Guy is hot.

I know I am late to the party, but I never knew this song was so Aziraphale and Crowley coded - and I almost choked on my tea when I randomly heard it today:
I've been loving you a long time
Down all the years, down all the days
And I've cried for all your troubles
Smiled at your funny little ways
We watched our friends grow up together
And we saw them as they fell
Some of them fell into Heaven
Some of them fell into Hell
Well, I took shelter from a shower
And I fell into your arms
On a rainy night in Soho
The wind was whistling all its charms
I sang you all my sorrows
You told me all your joys
Whatever happened to that old song
To all those little girls and boys
Those little girls and boys
Sometimes I wake up in the morning
The gingerlady by my bed
Covered in a cloak of silence
I hear you talking in my head
Well I'm not singing for the future
And I'm not dreaming of the past
I'm not talking of the fist time
I'll never dream about the last
Now the song is nearly over
We may never find out what it means
Still there's a light I hold before me
You're the measure of my dreams
You're the measure of my dreams
The measure of my dreams
The measure of my dreams

So. I have nothing new to add to the discussion, but it's important, particularly for younger friends, to understand the explosion of violence in Israel and Palestine has been expected (and inevitable with current politics) for decades.
The gross human rights violations inflicted on Palestinians was well-documented and 'old news' when I was in college a DECADE AGO. There are many large scale examples, but I had the honor of talking to attempted peace keepers from the region who spent their days escorting school children so people from the colonist settlements wouldn't literally throw rocks at them as they passed the colonizers' 'property.' That stayed with me. Things have only gotten worse.
Because I know someone will go out of their way to be twat, this is not a defense of Hamas. It's also not a defense of a highly militarized ethno theistic state that has repeated refused to address ongoing harm (both active and passive) it inflicted on the native population.
The news frankly isn't doing a great job presenting the whole story, which is why I feel I need to put this out there.
If you want to see some the older evidence concerning what the people who eventually became Hamas were raised suffering, Amnesty International is a reliable, third party source that conducted extensive research and has attempted to do something. (Here's a link to a general piece about a specific campaign to get you started: https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/campaigns/2017/06/israel-occupation-50-years-of-dispossession/)
The fact that western countries are being bullied out of sending humanitarian aid for the millions of Palestinians who are not Hamas/active combatants should tell you a hell of a lot.
Is the political, historical, and religious history of the region complicated? Absolutely. But I have to say as a white American who's had to come to grips with/own up to the legacy of colonization, dispossession, and genocide my ethnicity grants me (and the associated privileges), this whole story sounds damn familiar. Again, it isn't exactly the same, and the Jewish people as a whole have a long and storied history of just trying to survive in a world that is actively trying to annihilate them. But Israel does not represent all Jewish people. It is a political entity, and it should be held to account like any other.
There are paths towards peace, but they involve sweeping changes and concessions people in power find distasteful. That means Israeli citizens face determined violence from people who have nothing left to lose.
If you can fund relief efforts, do it. If you can bear to watch the news and hold the press, your politicians, and all the uncles who call the Palestinian people as a whole terrorists - DO IT.

I have been sitting here trying to come up with words about this. I personally know all of the women, except one, who were victimized at my high school. When my sister and I talk about this, we talk about how this was happening right in front of us but we didn't really put together what was going on at the time.
There was the time I bumped into Mr. Miller at the theater with one of my classmates, almost like they were on a date, and I thought it was weird, but didn't really think twice about it otherwise. That memory is still so strong in my mind unlike so many others from that time that have faded, I think because I knew it was unusual.
And there were so many rumors, so much casual behavior between teachers and students. But I was just so young, I don't think I put it together or would have had any chance of realizing that what was happening was wrong.
And we knew we were an elite program. We knew how unique it was and how well the graduates did. Collectively as a group we all thought we were so smart and so special. It made sense that our teachers would treat us differently than students at other schools. That's what we thought. But we were really just kids in the end.
There was a period when I was 15 when I was pretty depressed and looking for external validation and I used to spend every lunch period hanging out with Mr. Coleman in his classroom. He let me sit in there, just me and him, with the door closed. Sometimes there were others there, another friend of mine or a student from the class above, but usually just us. All we ever did was talk and listen to music. I now know that sometime around this period, he was abusing one of my sister's classmates, a friend of hers that I had known since elementary school.
I have so many good memories from high school. It was an incredibly rich learning experience. Until all of this started coming to light, I would have described some of my teachers as beloved. But even the ones who weren't directly involved allowed so much stuff to go on that they should have known better to ignore or brush off.
Anyhow this is all seriously fucked up, and I'm super upset about it. It's hard to process because it feels gross to bring it up with people who didn't go there, and most of my childhood friends don't really want to get into it for a whole variety of reasons, not least of which is that we feel like so much of our childhood and our formational learning experiences are tainted.

I'm smoking a joint now so bear with me but it seems like a lot of people want the "benefit" of the shock of kink/the psychosexual without any of the intellectual aspect the ascribe to them. Or for anyone else to lol

Like I know it’s just because more people watch the other shows than Andor but something really just bugs me and makes me sad about seeing people go so hard on Bo/Armorer and then Shin/Sabine while it seems like an actual canon wlw relationship was just a blip on the radar to the Star Wars fandom
And don’t get me wrong, those ships are fun and I love the joy they bring people and I admire the art and all that fun shit. It’s just that I’m sad Velcinta never got even a fraction of that level of energy dedicated to them
