They are both incredibly insecure, keep others at arms length, count each other as the only other person they can trust, repress their emotions, can be very brave in a fatalistic way, are terrible communicators, hate injustice and cruelty toward the weak, have major childhood trauma, struggle with the weight of their destiny, rely on dysfunctional coping mechanisms, and drink the same kind of brandy
Fitz and beloved were completely opposite in some ways. Beloved accepted all the facets of themselves while Fitz tried to lock away parts of himself to become who he wanted to become. Fitz tried to run away from being an assassin/royal bastard/catalyst, to have a normal life but was always dragged back while beloved gave everything to being a white prophet, so much that they never had a chance at a normal life. But they were also so similar in other ways. Like They both had rooms (fool's tower, fitz's study) where they could express themselves, that represented them in a way they couldn't express freely to the world, where no-one else entered. 💔

Hey Let play a game! I’m gonna say stuff about a character and you have to guess who this character (note:sorry for any grammar error)
1-He use his quirk on a person (who he act possessive over) when this person said no.
2-He act asshole towards Izuku.
3-He think Izuku doesn’t deserve OFA.
4-He mentored a boy who look oddly similar to this person he act possessive with.
5-He think he have the right to say about OFA.
6-He think he have to say about the life of a person (who , again act possessive) with excuse that “he care about him/that for his own good”.
You probably thinking I was talking about AFO
Wrong!
I was talking about Nighteye
( Obviously AFO is way worse person than Nighteye , but what I trying to say that if I was Yoichi/the OFA users I will feel uncomfortable and angry the way Nighteye acting towards All Might and Izuku (and Mirio) )
I am going to be so honest when u was first reading this. The first character that came to mind wasn't AFO, but it was Bakugo. That is until statement 4, and then I started to think of AFO.
Respectfully, I don't think Nighteye actually gets enough hate and criticism, and maybe that is due to the lack of screentime he gets within the story of MHA and how the narrative doesn't actually ever call nighteye out for his actions.
I believe that due to the narrative not actually calling out sir nighteye for his actions, most people forget just how much of a jerk he really is and overall nighteyes character goes to waste.
Rereading the overhaul arc and looking over sir Nighteye's character profile really caught my attention, especially with the way that Horikoshi chose to describe Nighteye as the "Japanese counterpart to an Americanised All might."
To me, it looked like horikoshi could have used both all Might and sir nighteyes characters to actively critique the core principles of hero society. Yes, they both try to do good, but we can actively see how much damage they have caused.
For example, both all Might and Sir nighteye perpetuate a toxic work environment where we see them overwork themselves and others to an unhealthy degree.
They are also both contrasts. All Might is shown to do the physical work. He is a symbol of strength and freedom, while nighteye is a symbol of dedication and laughter due to his love for jokes. They both have a personality surrounded by the idea of smiling all Might, smiling physically to comfort people, and sir, nighteye enjoying jokes that his workers and he makes.
Nighteye's work ethic is shown to be more cooperate toxic based, whereas all Might's is more physical toxic based.
Sure, they both had noble intentions at the start, but they also both caused a lot of damage to those around them and to themselves. Sir Nighteye's failures as a hero caused an entire fiasco when it came to Eri and the yakuza while All Might’s own failures as a hero caused for AFO to still be alive and for him to almost die.
They both have their own protégé whom they entrust their legacy to in hopes for a better future. Funnily enough, their protégé also resemble one another, and mirio resembles all Might while izuku resembles sir nighteye.
They're essentially two sides of the same coin when it comes to hero society of MHA and the series should of explored their clashing ideologies a lot more whether that be through both of them or through their own protégé mirio and izuku who ironically end up having two contrastingly different views when it comes to what action should of been taken to helping rescue Eri.
All might in the spotlight while Sir nighteye is in the shadow they are essentially the two halves that make up the hero side of hero society
As I mentioned before, sir, nighteye's toxic work ethic and environment that he facilitates in his agency should have been explored and should have been tied into the failures of the overhaul arc.
It seems that in a very disingenuous and cheap way to create a lighthearted and productive environment, Sir Nighteye goes to huge levels of extreme to create comedy and we see it as he literally has a torture type device called tickle hell that he uses to punish his workers if they aren't funny enough. This is the same mindset that a very toxic manager would have.
Sir Nighteye's work ethic also ends up being heavily problematic with him greenlighting a lot of things like children going to a professional yakuza raid or his poor communication skills when it comes to getting information across to everyone about the raid and assuming that because of his quirk he knows best so he has that superiority complex which causes him to talk down to people whether that be intentionally or not.
However, the series could have also explored the tragedy behind Sir Nighteye's quirk. The tragedy in having the power of knowing what will happen but not having the power to prevent it or not having the power to change the course of events.
I assume that, sir, nighteye some time in the past must of tested the limits to his quirk probably when he was a hero and it had a tragic outcome which would explain the reason why he seems to believe that the future cannot change and that what happens will happen. Something must of happend for nighteye someone with so much information to fall into a depressing doom of inevitability and for him to beg all Might to quit to at least look after himself to stop running to his own death.
In the end, it seems that all might and nighteye switch positions to an extent with sir nighteye dying and all might living. In the end, all of that information couldn't save nighteye at all, and in the end, nighteye died due to a chain of mistakes all of them could be linked back to the slow corruption of hero society.

It's hysterical that Izuku cornered All Might about the work studies in the teachers' lounge because (1) we get commentary from the UA staff peanut gallery, and (2) it forces Izuku and All Might to have an argument where they have to speak in circles and no one can actually be direct.
The core of this argument is that Izuku believed he needed to race ahead to become the new symbol as All Might's/The One for All successor. And All Might wanted to focus on teaching Izuku himself, he didn't believe Izuku should start a work study so early, and he knew that working with Sir Nighteye was a bad idea since he didn't approve of Izuku as the One for All Successor.
But because they had an audience, they have to put on a performance like "All Might, some people say we have similar quirks so please help out" and "bla bla bla...villainy is increasing, work on your shoot style". All Might gave up the farce first after he kept getting pushback from his colleagues and just hits them with I don't want to because it's awkward. On which the staff only takes as an opportunity to dunk on him more.

Do you see them as a QPR?
QPR Definition:
"Queerplatonic relationships (QPR), also known as queerplatonic partnerships (QPP), are committed intimate relationships between significant others whose relationship is not romantic in nature."
Reasoning for seeing them as a QPR under the cut
"They have an affection that goes far beyond platonic. They always want to be around each other. People in their lives suggest that the two are sleeping with each other, which shocks Fitz to his core because he isn't sexually attracted to The Fool. They also cuddle together and sleep next to each other sometimes. Fitz would rather be dead than not have the fool with him. They gave both sacrificed their lives for the other more times than I can count. here's a quote that solidified my qpr interpretation (I cut out some stuff due to spoilers/length):
"Is that what this is about? Bedding with me?"
"No!" He did not shout the word, but something in the way he said it stunned me to silence.
"Always you bring it back to that, as if that is the only possible culmination of love."
He sighed and abruptly settled back in his chair. He looked at me speculatively, and then asked "Tell me, did you love Nighteyes?"
"Of course."
"Without reserve?"
"Yes."
"Then by your logic, you wished to couple with him?"
"I wished... no!"
"There it is. Plainly, Fitz. I told you I set no limits on my love for you. I don't. Yet I never expected you to offer me your body. It was the whole of your heart, all for myself, that I sought. Even though I've never had a right to it. You gave it away ere ever you saw me""

>They are really following the “saving child shigaraki” path 💀
No? Well, yes, but Deku seeing what happened to Tenko and talking to Tenko was always going to happen, it doesn't mean that only child Tenko gets saved lol. Tenko is Shigaraki's origin, his core, his genuine ideas, his honne (true feelings and desires). Of course Deku has to understand and save Tenko to save adult!Tenko, lol. Nobody seemed to complain when child!Ochako was talking to child!Himiko and etc., so what's up with some people's attitude now? 😭
I think the fandom is a bit paranoid because they really fear some theories.
I sometimes entertain those theories just to fuck around and create what ifs. It's a mere childplay. "Oh what if the school burned today and we all graduated earlier" type of mindset. The odds of it happening are non-existent, but c'mon. Unless you plan to burn the school yourself or you know someone will try, the odds are almost zero.
"but somewhere in the world a school burned—"
Sure, some mangas decide to end things the worst way possible only to cause shock, to fuck with fans, for money, sometimes simply because they don't understand their own stories. Even the big mangas is subjected to that. The author can go bananas for whatever reason and give you a terrible ending.
From my perspective, Horikoshi has rarely lost sight of the story he wants to tell. If he opens a plotline, he takes care to close it later. We got our traitor, we got the resolution with the Todorokis, we got AFO, class 1B, the villain comebacks...
Even when there were moments I knew Horikoshi went a little on the tangent (like Stars and Stripes) he was quick to return to the main issue. In bnha, to get an answer for your question you only have to wait for the manga to explain it— or in some cases, check the spin-off. If the answer is not in bnha itself, it normally is in the Vigilantes manga.
When someone asks me "Hey Shan, do you think that is possible?" the correct answer is always yes, because as long as the story is not over anything can happen. Objectively speaking, yes, it is as possible as anything else. As long as you're alive a lightning strike can hit you. A shark can bite you. An alien can come for you. The odds are there.
Now, is it probable?
No, not much.
Turning Tomura into a child to erase his crimes and resolve Deku's role within the plot is not only the lazy route, but also a disservice to the story. People don't resurrect out of nowhere in bnha. Limbs don't grow again. This is a story where the consequences are permanent. Even saving Mirio had a cost. There are only a few characters that can magically heal and their participation is soo little, it's almost as if they weren't there.
Each story has rules. You don't care about the real life rules or your own law code or whatever; you care about the inner rules of that story.
So far, Horikoshi has taken care of not breaking the inner rules of bnha. Why would he do so now?
Another bnha trait is that it doesn't stay stagnant on a plotline that is interesting yet irrelevant to the main story. It also doesn't hurry the story if it needs to go down a certain path. It will happen on its own time, after the events that need to happen had happened too. Example: saving Tomura has been a whole process. If Horikoshi were to turn Tomura into a child, why would he show all that he has shown us?
That's 'cause Horikoshi is explaining Deku's choice of saving Tomura. I know the trend of separating Tomura from Tenko, but it's absurd. They are one and the same. The kid is the adult and vice versa. You save the kid version, you save the adult one too. In order to save the adult one, you need to save the kid first. And if you went all the way to save that person, why would you want to erase all of it and turn them into a child again?
Isn't the story about how Deku giving little Tenko a chance? Isn't the story about Deku telling others they can do the impossible? Didn't Nighteye say that Deku could change the future and now we see him also changing the past, if only to allow the present to be a little more bearable? Livable?
I'll say this here: the theory that dictates that the heroes will turn the villains into kids to save them and the villains will stay like that has absolutely no foundation within the story.
If it happens, it's bad writing.
Horikoshi uses the kid images as symbolism. It is meant to represent the core of a person. It's the part of them that would never change, the part of them that dictates their dreams and goals, what they hate and love, who they are. It's the most basic of their forms, their essence, their soul if you want to speak on those terms.
Heroes are meant to connect with those parts of a human in order to save them, because the job of a hero is not only saving the body, but the human as a whole. To preserve hope, to heal past wounds and give people a reason to smile. To help people laugh as a kid again, to bring back their wonder and their innocence, to fight the apathy and the cynical part of themselves.
Bnha is fantasy. People have powers. The dead can communicate with the living. Of course that the heroes can talk with the childhood versions of the people to heal their past traumas.
Easy as that.
I can't say for sure if the villains will live or die. I only have my opinion (they'll live), but I am not the author. Horikoshi can have an epiphany tomorrow and kill everyone in the story with a meteor. Idk.
I can only say that Horikoshi has presented a cohesive and coherent writing, one that follows the lines it dictates to their natural conclusion. If things stay like that, there's no need to fear none of the crazy theories circulating the fandom. At the end of the day that's all they are, theories.

Has anybody else been overanalyzing All Might's hallucinations? Because I have and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this:
All Might has literally said twice that they are hallucinations and that those are things he's telling himself, so either for some weird reason he just can't and won't accept these are actually Nana and Nighteye talking to him (which would be weird but it would explain how Nighteye knew that was the actual vision) or they are indeed representing his own mind, which is clearly divided. I'm not saying he's two different people, of course, All Might and Toshinori are one and the same, but he does have a complex and contrasting personality and he can oscillate, just like he shows different aspects of himself as All Might and Toshinori.
Either way, if that's the case, I believe Nana represents his heroic, self-sacrificing to a fault self, always pushing him to keep going no matter what, which we saw in the two fights with AFO actually, and which makes sense because that's what she represented as well; and then, there's Nighteye, which represents his humanity, his fragility and in the end, his inherent value as a human being, his right to live; which is beautiful considering Nighteye is probably the first person that actually cared for his life and worried enough to have an argument with him, mind you, I don't agree with the way he handled it, but his heart was in the right place and he did what he thought was the best.
Which leads me to All Might's mindset when acting. I believe in this whole arc after he retired, he struggled with those two sides:
At times understanding his life was worth protecting and wanting to do so. Pushing himself to believe he could change his destiny and thinking of ways to do so, that is, when he promised to live to Izuku's mom, when he told AFO he'd keep living, when he made the promise to bend his destiny with Izuku, when he talked to Aizawa and said he had decided to live, when he decided to ask Melisa for help, when he used his student's quirks as support, when he started streaming his battle and just being aware of people asking him to live.
But at times, there was also the feeling that his life made no sense without helping as a field hero, mourning how weak his human body was, falling into depression, still craving to hold on to his dream, to his heroic core, and in that, doubting that he'd be able to bend his own destiny because in the end, he'd go as far as it was needed, and that, ultimately, it was fine because that was the heroic thing to do.
I believe he went into the fight with AFO with both mindsets at the same time and that's why in his hallucination he jokes about the mentor being meant to die, just for himself to answer back that no, that's just for comics, heroes are human too.
Also, as a side note, I love that the way Izuku's and All Might's destinies changed, wasn't because they stopped being crazy heroic (which yeah probably don't do that in real life, but hey, they did risk their lives for a very huge, good reason), it was because they allowed other people in, to be inspired, to care, and to help and save them, be it with their wishes and will or directly like Eri in Izuku's case and Bakugo in All Might's case. It seems so beautifully poetic, just like someone else said with the wordplay of the Three Musketeers, they gave "One for all", and everyone gave them "All for one" back, which is what society needed to begin with; the fault wasn't in All Might carrying everything on his shoulders per se, it was that he felt the need to do so because a lot of people didn't care enough to move one finger, like we saw with Shigaraki.
By the way... this expression is everything I ever wanted T^T

Ask Game: After Izuku is diagnosed Quirkless, his father brings out a knowledge that was almost lost during the Boxer Rebellion, Qi cultivation. By the time he enters UA Izuku has the equivalent of a superstrenght stockpile Quirk, though he also figured out how to use his abilities to float (and once he’s stronger he’ll be able to fly and do other stuff) and is developing the ability to sense danger… So what is this One for All thing that Sir Nighteye and this weird masked Villain think he has and want him to give up? Is this related to how his senpai, Hado Nejire, suddenly became stronger and faster?
A long, long time ago, there was a terrible war, and in the destruction, a child died. The boy's mother fled to a nearby river where she could be alone as she wept for his loss. A handsome stranger heard her cries and asked her what was wrong. When she explained, the man thought long and hard and came up with a solution. A way to cheat the cycle of reincarnation so that she could have her son again. But the method would take hundreds if not thousands of years. The woman agreed.
Anyway, in the present day, Midoriya is born with a few scattered scales on his skin. Everyone assumed this was an early sign of his Quirk, but it was in fact not; he inherited some secondary mutations but no actual Quirk.
Izuku was despondent when he was diagnosed Quirkless. Inko and Hisashi looked at each other and came to a silent agreement. That day, Hisashi retrieved an old box tucked away under some floorboards (They live in a house in this AU). The box contained the scattered scriptures of many different Cultivators which have been fashioned into something of a Cultivation Manual.
Izuku began his journey as a Cultivator that day, meditating alongside his parents to properly get his Qi circulating. Of the five elements flowing through his Qi, Izuku best associates with Wood, but like all Cultivators he has some affinity for them all. He also starts learning swordplay because martial arts is a useful means of aiding the physical part of Cultivation, although it's not something his parents can help with as much.
AFO took notice of him at the USJ incident, when he obliterated the Noumu (he tried to mess with its Qi but being a Noumu that made it tear itself apart) while Nighteye spotted him at the Sports Festival. Both reached some rather incorrect assumptions.
+1. Unlike Spiral Energy, Hado got One For All in her Second Year. Midoriya can sense something up with her Qi, almost like she has a pseudo-core. It's very weird to him.
+2. The Celestial Courts don't like Cultivators because becoming immortal is infringing on their territory. This is generally handled by a good old-fashioned lighting bolt to smite someone. Because of his theft of longevity Quirks, All For One has had this happen to him about once a decade or so. He's so confused by this phenomena that he earned a PhD in Meteorology to figure out why it keeps happening.
+3. Izuku is totally desensitized to electricity because he's seen both of his parents struck by lightning on at least one occasion.

Saw the tags on the Toshinori post and do you have more to share?? Any insights? If so I’d welcome hearing them 😭 He really is so self-sacrificial and it hurts but it’s truly at the core of who he is
This has been sitting in my inbox for almost a week because I needed to make a futile effort at organizing my thoughts into something coherent--but this is as organized as they're going to get for now! Thank you so so much for the ask though bc I do love to yell about MHA <3
(Obligatory reminder that I'm watching this show in such a confusing order so if what I'm about to rant about has been addressed before and I'm harping on it unnecessarily I Am Sorry.)
(For anyone curious, this is the post btw)
SO. It feels relevant to mention that my sister and I were talking about All Might in the first place because we were talking about MHA Moments That Haunt Us. For me, it's the 'I am not here' sign hanging around the neck of the All Might statue in Kamino Ward after the Paranormal Liberation War. It literally lives in my brain rent-free 24/7 365 days a year, especially with the AM vs AFO fight being relatively fresh in my mind. The reversal of All Might's catchphrase and all it represents hurts, but to display it at the site of his 'last stand' in Kamino? That's brutal.
All Might vs All For One and how that rematch plays out is so so important to the story for so many reasons, but one of them is that the fight itself is a sacrifice. Toshinori gives everything he has, short of his life, to defeat All For One. He gives up his physical strength, his public image as the unbeatable Symbol of Peace, and, effectively his Quirk ("Goodbye, All For One. Goodbye, One For All" haunts my every waking moment, still!)
This battle is also the culmination of years of All Might's life and heroic philosophy (because Toshinori has been both practicing AND preaching self-sacrifice in the name of the greater good since we met him. It's what he thinks a hero does). Kamino is the sacrifice to end all sacrifices, if you will. Yes, he does get to walk away from the fight with AFO, but he walks away irrevocably different, almost unrecognizable. He's forced to totally change his focus and his mindset and his life. Everything he has given up is made literally visible in the deterioration of his body.
But most most importantly, All Might's sacrifice at Kamino was... all for nothing. Even if AM defeated him in that moment, All For One is free less than a year later. The world is in shambles. People are afraid, and their faith in heroes is crumbling. Heroes are afraid, and this time, they have no idealized symbol to rally behind. When Dostoevsky wrote "Your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing," he was talking about All Might btw.
Toshinori gave this fight (and his career, and being All Might) everything he had, and it still wasn't enough. He sacrificed so much of himself, and so much of how he perceived himself and his purpose, and he didn't even save the world. He just bought them time--and not much of it. I think that's why he's so desperate to keep fighting, no matter the cost, no matter what condition he's in--even 'quite literally half-dead.' He can't let Kamino be the Symbol of Peace's final stand, because Kamino was ultimately for nothing. Instead of saving the world, it has been reframed through the sign on the statue as All Might abandoning the world. And ever since then, he's been scrambling to prove that he is still here.
(There's also probably something here about Sir Nighteye telling him that he was going to die. Since Nighteye used his Quirk on him, Toshinori has been anticipating sacrificing his life for good. Knowing that his entire hero career is effectively a fight to the death has probably maximized his self-sacrificial tendencies.)
#ask#yagi toshinori#bnha all might#mha all might#love of my LIFE#i had more bullet points to include about all might's philosophy of self-sacrifice as both a hero and a teacher#but then i was writing random notes about all might as a product of hero society as opposed to a pillar of it and i felt like that one vide#of the old man going '90% of the time i have no idea what the hell i'm talking about'#it wasn't strictly relevant to this ask but maybe one day it will be it's own post bc toshinori messes me up when i think about him#for longer than 0.5 seconds#this is so word vomit i'm so sorry#liza blather#AND ANOTHER THING. a lot of the pros are self-sacrificial to an extreme (i made a web weave abt it) but all might is one of the few#who actually makes it his PHILOSOPHY. like he passes on the idea of setting yourself on fire to keep others warm as a Good Plan#which is NOT a criticism of him OR his fault it's what he LEARNED to do just like#i can't really blame the ua faculty for the sports fest as messed up as it was bc like. half of them are probably ua alumni. they#probably had their own sports festival. this is just like. not registering as abnormal to them.#okay now i will stop#one thing about me is if i'm not talking about kamino i'm talking about the sports festival#and on the off chance i'm not talking about either i'm talking about the joint training arc

Not the same anon, but if you don't mind me chiming in, I think, at least for me, the whole "it bothers me that Bakugo's only about Deku now" is not about narrative or thematic purpose, which I get, and which I like. For me it's just that I don't get why this progression can't coexist with Bakugo having meaningful interactions/moments with other people, just like Deku still does, plust the fact that it just doesn't feel reciprocated. And he's done and given up so much for Deku, yet Deku... well.
“Yet Deku… well.” To me this is kinda the point and is a big draw for me, personally, in sympathizing with Katsuki. The uneven reciprocation is a feature in this (still developing instance), not a bug.
If this status quo does not change by the end of the manga I may be more inclined to see it your way, but right now the story isn’t over and I don’t feel like that’s all there is to it for Katsuki and all we’re gonna get. It’s also not actually all we’ve gotten, either. I thought Katsuki and Todoroki’s relationship was pretty solid throughout this whole ordeal, in particular! The “udon, obviously” crack was a little moment, but meant big things! Katsuki getting dunked in the bath by the other boys was so sweet and cute! The boys making fun of Katsuki with the stupid “Change!” gag is worth something (and is fittingly backhanded - that small sense of unevenness is, again, meant to be a feature, I think since it’s so core to everything about him and relating to others.) I also think Katsuki coming to terms with how he pushed Toshinori away despite wanting to be close to him, too, is a big fuckin’ deal!! Like a massive deal!!! While the concepts of All Might and Izuku are related to Katsuki, there are differences! They are different individuals to him with which he has a distinct relationship! And what about Mirko and Katsuki bickering??? It’s small and quick, but it’s cute and there!
AND I MEAN, EVEN MONOMA FREAKING THE FUCK OUT WHEN KATSUKI FALLS IS A BIG DEAL WITH VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH IZUKU!
Do I want more Katsuki-and-others 1v1 or even just in the fringe of others? YES! We were robbed of a Monoma-v-Katsuki fight, we were denied Mirio-and-Tamaki-and-Nejire witnessing the hot mess that is Katsuki Bakugo, fronting, self-hating, lovesick osana najimi in permanent “friendship purgatory”, WE WERE DENIED SIR NIGHTEYE WITNESSING KATSUKI AND HIS BAGGAGE REGARDING ALL MIGHT AND IZUKU, we did not ever get Midnight, Mic, and Aizawa watching tsundere-after-Aizawa’s-own-heart Bakugo make friends with his classmates, particularly Kirishima and Shoto and Denki, and giving Aizawa shit about the similarity in their situation, WE DID NOT GET TOGA GETTING A GOOD WHIFF OF THE BAKUDEKU DYNAMIC, only a short moment when he’s kidnapped. I also think Katsuki and Momo should have a fun mini adventure. I also want to see Katsuki and Hawks or Katsuki and Endeavor try to navigate a conversation between just the two of them. I want to see him go head to head with Gran Torino, socially speaking. With INKO MIDORIYA.
But you know what? Including those scenes or delving into them also runs the risk of extinguishing or too-quickly accelerating, you guessed it, the drama of the Bakudeku situation even as they might create new relationships for Katsuki separate from Izuku. They’re all related, these things, and potentially always will be, but they don’t have to negate each other.

HE GOT CRUSHED THE FUCK UP AGAINST THE GROUND BY SHIGARAKI AT FULL FORCE, TRUST ME HE IS NOT GONNA NEED THAT MASK”- Well, they did the same for Nighteye after he got shish-ka-bobbed, so I think it’s standard medical practice. Besides, Gran Torino might not be dead – he’s almost certainly paralysed though, with his spine broken clearly in two. If any adult hero survives this war, they’re almost certainly losing a piece of themselves doing so, judging by the count so far. 4) “Yeah Jeanist, but let us not beat around the bush, those people there are dead. Mt lady? Dead. Midnight? dead. Gran Torino? Super Dead. Endeavor? I wish. But perhaps eventually.”- I’m honestly going to start keeping a record of all the adult heroes who’re still alive and in one piece by the end of this series, and I don’t think we’re gonna be breaking the single digits with it. 5) “Yeah, but remember Mirio those are high-ends, they can learn as the fight goes along. The longer the fight goes on, the harder things are gonna become.”- They’re Near-High Ends actually, according to Garaki. The difference seems to be that they have above-average intelligence for a Nomu, but still no sense of true self, and so can’t vocalise or anything like that. Thankfully this means they can’t strategize and are little more than attack animals. Sadly, this means they still have capabilities that are close to the High-Ends’ own, so are still tough and dangerous regardless. 6) “Also, oh my god Ida calling Bakugo by his hero name- I’m still not used to that. And the fact that Bakugo of all people couldn’t come up with a comeback? Jesus, he really is beyond saving, he’s gonna be buried right next to GT”- Things are dire when not even Bakugou’s feral energy can keep him in the fight anymore. 7) “oh dear god Mr Compress is gonna do something to save his pals, isn’t he?
…
OH DEAR GOD THE TITLE OF THE CHAPTER- OH GOD MR COMPRESS YOU BETTER NOT”- I’ve seen people give an arm and a leg to save their pals, but I’ve never seen them give their ass before. 8) “Now tell me Mr compress, couldn’t you compress yourself so you can escape the cables and then just decompress? Surely you could, right? And it won’t require you making a dramatic sacrifice, right?”- I’m honestly uncertain if Compress can compress himself – we’ve never really seen him pull it off as an infiltration tactic before, despite how useful it’d be, and whislt he can do so to the league and pull them back out, he may be incapable of undoing it fro the “inside” so to speak, which would only lead to him suffocating or something. At the very least, he was forced to resort to this more drastic measure instead of self-compressing to evade Jeanist’s wires.
9) “I think you can exclude Dabi from that list, he already did got everything he wanted an- OH MY GOD TOGA IS CRYING”- Sadly, Dabi’s dreams can only be satisfied with maximum suffering inflicted on his family, and everybody else by proxy. And it’s a tragic case of dramatic irony, whilst Compress has sympathy for Dabi’s unfulfilled wishes as a part of the team, and Toga’s own emotional turmoil – and Toga would do the same were the situation reversed – Dabi does not give a crap about either of them, save the usefulness they can provide to him in the frenzied death-match he desires. 10) “Well you better act soon Compress, because Jeanist is getting sick of having to tie you guys up for longer.”- Now his attention’s no longer distracted by Machia, Jeanist is free to ensure the conscious members of the league are no longer left that way whilst the battle is pitching up. The less variable they have to keep track of, the better, and given what Compress does here, despite his lack of overall combat power, it was the right call. 11) “ACTUALLY I’M GETTING MORE WORRIED ABOUT SPINNER DYING BEFORE COMPRESS DOES GOOD LORD MAN I KNOW YOU WANT TO PUT THEM TO SLEEP BUT LOOK AT THAT FACE”- It’s not like Jeanist can accurately track their pulse and breathing from a distance away through the cables, especially with the chaos erupting around him. The best he can do is focus on not breaking their necks and hoping that they pass out quickly so he can ease up on the pressure…but again, the situation is dire enough that even if Jeanist were to accidently kill them like this, he wouldn’t be blamed or held accountable for it. 12) “OH GOD HE’S NOT GONNA COMPRESS HIMSELF COMPLETELY, RIGHT? JUST A CHUNK OF HIS OWN BODY SO HE CAN ESCAPE THE CABLES
OH GOD NO”- Also a neat attention to detail that Compress can only perform this move on his right side, as that’s the only one with a flesh-and-blood arm remaining, Overhaul’s injury against him further handicapping the league’s chances of success at the crucial moment. 13) “AT LEAST YOU WILL SURVIVE THIS ONE, RIGHT? SURE, YOU’LL BE THE ASSLESS COMPRESS, BUT STILL, YOU’RE NOT GONNA DIE, RIGHT?”- He got them out, but in such a manner that means he himself won’t be able to flee with them – not that they even could overall, with the surrounding heroes mobbing them in an effort to prevent the primary instigators of the war from escaping and rendering the overall point of the conflict null and void. All Compress can do is sacrifice himself to give the others some breathing room, and leave the rest in Spinner’s hands to get Tomura out of there. 14) “HOLY SHIT HE WAS FAST
WELL, HE WAS MORE AERODYNAMIC WITHOUT HIS ASS AFTER ALL. LESS WEIGHT TO BE CARRIED.”-Compress is an under-looked member of the league, but his abilities have always been a source of support for them, giving them an edge with infiltration and similar, along with his observations of the others and accurately judging who needs help the most. In this moment, both the powerhouses of Tomura and Machia have been felled, and Dabi is not interested in lending his aid to the “leader” when his own goals are nearby, yet the support of a weaker, yet genuine team player proves crucial for the League to not completely lose this war. 15) “I’M STARTING TO FEEL LIKE THE ASS IS NOT GOING TO BE THE ONLY THING THAT WILL BE SACRIFICED IN THIS ESCAPE OF HIS”- Sometimes, winning a war comes down to having a person who’s willing to sacrifice more than the enemy in order to score a victory for his side, no matter the cost to him personally. 16) “YES BUT CAN YOU PLEASE DO THAT WITHOUT KILLING YOURSELF PLEASE? TWICE DOESN’T NEED COMPANY RIGHT NOW HE’S FINE”- Desperate times, desperate actions – and yet, the effort put into those actions is undeniable. Compress is no powerhouse fighter, but he’s always been one to lay down his life on the line for the others, which is a quality that Tomura is able to attract in his followers. 17) “That name seems familiar, but I can’t remember from where. Also, is this gonna be a Compress backstory reveal?”- It was name-dropped as one of many noticeable Quirk-users in history by Gentle during his infiltration of UA, desiring to be a standout villain of notoriety similar to him and Re-Destro’s ancestor. Ironically, Gentle actually seems to have more in common with Harima’s methodology than his actual descendant.
18) “Well, I must say, his ancestor must be extremely disappointed with the path he picked then, because what Compress got involved with is a long cry from exposing injustice, if the piles of civilian corpses they left behind those past 20 minutes alone are anything to go by.”- Not unlike Re-Destro’s own past, the legacy of a notable ancestor become twisted and distorted over time, becoming a negative influence on the next generation that guided them down a wrong path when they may have chosen otherwise if left to their own devices. In fact, the same can be said of both Dabi and Tomura’s own pasts as well – many of the league are those whose past histories isolate them from normal society in some manner and drive them together in a common cause in opposition to it, and Compress’ backstory shows how even a well-meaning example like his Robin Hood ancestry can change a man for the worse in trying to emulate that. (MHA ch 291) 19) “Wonder how much a DNA test is worth considering people with Toga’s quirk, who can become another person.”-And a hint towards Compress’ impending reveal, that he too, is one of such a renowned bloodline in their little group. 20) “Oh, not worth the time to kill him if your dad is not up to watch it huh, alright Dabi, can you fuck off then I want to know more about the assless compress”- Some translations I saw said that Endeavour had passed out from the exertion of body-checking Machia unconscious, and Dabi didn’t want to kill Shoto whilst their father wasn’t awake to see it. He’s got a plan in mind for how this fight’s going to play out, and he won’t accept deviations. 21) “THE MASK
IT’S OFF
OH GOD NO AM I READY TO GAZE UPON WHAT MR COMPRESS IS LIKE UNDERNEATH IT? DARE I WITNESS THINGS HUMANKIND WAS NOT MEANT TO KNOW?”- Behold and witness the Hawtness!! 22) “hello?”- Compress had to lose half his cake to balance out his good looks underneath that mask.
23) “Also, he’s the heir of a lineage of vigilantes wanting to fix society and he ended up a super villain trying to bring forth the destruction of it, as well as the genocide of an untold number of innocent people. Ouch Compress, that’s not gonna look good when you get to the pearly gates, your grandpa is gonna fucking kick your ass.”- Even if change is important to fixing society’s flaws, it’s arguably more important to bring about the right kind of change, not destructive anarchy like the League enacts in a short-sighted effort to “fix” things, no matter the good intentions. @thelreads

Chapter ten: Big Hero Oratory (All Might)
“All Might, I’m gonna be straight with you.” Midnight leaned even closer, and he could see the muscles of her face were strained. “Night always kept his work with you at the core of his professional profile. What people really know for sure is that you mattered to him. They know he loved you.” Toshinori stared at her. “This is your chance to even things up, set the record straight. Your last chance, unless you wanna write a big-ass brick of a memoir or something, which honestly sounds like something you would do. But my point is that you owe him this.” He could feel anguish in his throat, and anger twisting his face, and he could tell he was a moment away from the petty retort that she had no business saying what he owed to Nighteye. But she was still not done. “And someone else will step up and do it if you won’t, maybe Centipeder or maybe even me, though I really don’t want to do a fourth one of these, not now and not for him—” She stopped haranguing him, and Toshinori realized that it was because she had started crying. For several seconds, he sat paralyzed beside her, watching her shoulders shudder as she wept very quietly into her hands. Finally, not knowing what else to do, he draped one arm loosely around her shoulder, patting it in an irregular rhythm. When Midnight shocked him again by leaning into the touch, his other arm volunteered itself too, pulling her infamous curves lightly against his skin and bones in the weirdest hug of his too-long life.
The tragedy of All Might and Nighteye's doomed partnership, remembering the happiness too.

A little "my opinion on Izuocha" rent
It's originally, at its core, not a bad ship. Pretty cute, even.
So it's hard to explain why i dislike Izuocha as a bkdk skipper bc people automatically assume im just hating on a straight couple or that I'm misogynistic.
I literally hated katsuki and shipped izuocha the first 3 seasons. They were so cute. But I kept being disappointed. It's entirely one sided.
Horikoshi said on multiple occasions that he reads romance a lot. And he's very good at writing characters and psychology. He knows how to write romance. Yet here he is, writing a superhero comic but never gave us a scene where Izuku risks his life for her? Never protects her? Every single time there's a villain attack and Horikoshi has the perfect set up to write a very romantic scene, he immediately SEPARATES THEM. USJ attack? He was with Tsuyu and Mineta. At the training camp? He fought alone. And when he joins Ochaco's group? He leaves her 5 minutes later. Katsuki rescue mission? Could've have Ochaco coming too in order to prevent Izuku from doing something too risky (like Iida did) it would've been cute. But no she wasn't there either.
We got a lil romance moment between them at the provisional licence exam but IT WAS FREAKING TOGA THE DISAPPOINTMENT.
Besides, when Ochaco (so actually Toga...) fell down, he didn't have that "I want to protect the girl im in love with" moment, no he had a moment where he thought about his regrets and past mistakes that caused Kacchan and All Might prejudice.
The whole chisaki arc? Oh. Surprise. It's also one sided. Ochaco only comes towards the end, terrified at Nighteye's vision of Izuku's death. Nothing from Izuku again. Season 5 Uraraka saves Izuku from blackwhip going out of control with Shinso. The war? Oh a war! What a good way to bring in scenes of them sacrificing for each other- well no they separate AGAIN at the very BEGINNING and it's Katsuki's redemption being upfront.
Then the vigilante arc... Izuku talked about wanting to protect the smiles of his family and classmates but never Ochaco in particular... it would've nice to have her on a panel alone at that moment but no...
All those missed opportunities just gave me so much frustration and disappointment that I don't ship them anymore. I absolutely love Izuku with all my heart he's my favorite character but Ochaco deserves someone who looks at her the same way she looks at them. And it's not Izuku.
So sorry but I'm tired of the typical Shounen (male) main character totally ignoring the girl who's in love with him the entire series meanwhile she can't be more devoted to him but suddenly at the last chapter they're married. Like seriously ? Its just bad writing to me.
But a lot of people still believe it's a very good ship because there's "moments". Like when Izuku blushes around her... 90% of the time it's because she's in his personal space, very close and it's making him a lil embarrassed. Things like that.
There's their conversation after Ochaco's speech at UA where he thanks her. He compliments her hair style and other things out of nowhere it was I think the only time of the series my Izuocha heart felt a little satisfaction. It was adorable. But then they talked about wanting to save villains so it stopped there.
At the final war, last opportunity for Horikoshi to finally do something with that supposed to be canon ship, we get Katsuki thinking of his idol All Might, his dreams to be a hero and his childhood with Izuku as his dying thoughts, we get Izuku going feral seeing his corpse but for Ochaco we get... that
On the 393th chapter, the last one that was released (small spoiler) we can see Ochaco thinking of Izuku. It's again one sided, Izuku isn't even looking at her
but ive seen a lot of people saying this is Horikoshi "putting it all together and making the ship canon" and... I don't think so...? This is just yet another shot of Ochaco being in love, one amongst idk many others since the beginning of the manga it's not new at all..
Now give me a shot of Izuku thinking of OCHACO when he speaks about love. Then I'll start thinking it's maybe reciprocated. Now? Absolutely not.
I send absolutely no hate to Izuochas, if you ship them no problem but I just wanted by this post to explain why me and so many other people don't want them to end up together. It's not idk... Gay ship obsession or misogyny (even if Ochaco does receives a lot of undeserved hate for these reasons...). There's just nothing interesting to the ship to me.
It's one sided. It's... boring. Just boring.
Now I know bkdk won't be canon because well.. homophobia is a thing and it's a Shonen so I'm not dreaming much but I dont want Izuocha to end up together. Not with their current dynamic at least.

REACTIONS TO EPISODE 20 - ASSASSIN
The usual! Jokes, me having feelings, there's some pictures, questions... all that!
LAST EPISODE'S REACTIONS
I really want to fight these people!! LEAVE HER ALONE!!
Again, how I adore Izuku "Deku" Midoriya!! Coming to her rescue!
"It's her fault to dress up like that and wander around. People can get the wrong idea." Hm. Why does that sound so familiar?! FUCK YOU, MAN!!!!
Maybe it's me, but she is too cute!!! Like!!! Shes crying and everything and I just want to hug her and protect her!!
Dad... I mean All Might handing him the lunch... WRAPPED IN BUNNIES!!! MY HEART CAN'T HANDLE THIS!!! 😭💚🐇
AAAAAAWWWW!!!
Hey, Banjo!
IZUKU, STOP BEING SO CUTE!!!! 💚
"Please, my hero." Okay, for real, what is up with the OFA users and my feelings?
They just... okay who put these two in time out?
Banjo never not made me laugh. 🤣
YOICHI'S SMILE!!! 💚💚
THE 3RD IS SPEAKING, SHUSH!!!
THE 2ND IS SPEAKING, SHUSH!!!
I still can't believe they went to kill him and instead rescue him.
OMG, THEY GIVING US THE RESCUE SCENE!!!
... you held hands... and thus OFA started... what kind of romantic...
Nah, for real, if that's when OFA transferred it makes sense when you think about it. When it began at Yoichi and 2nd, it was weak. By the time it reached Izuku, it was so strong that it needed not only a quirkless person to handle it, but DNA from the previous user to be consumed. Over time OFA, became stronger and adaptable to the point it's almost like a sentient being with the OFA Users inhabiting its core... I need to make this a separate post...
I love the OFA Users! Looking like a rainbow! But why Nana had to be pink?
I'm joking, I actually like the shade on her!!! BUT THAT PURPLE ON EN!!! I LOVE PURPLE!!! 💜💜💜
Endeavor standing behind that pillar like that!!! 🤣
The 2nd telling Izuku things will get faster *laughs in manga reader* and Izuku biting in his food all seriously determined. Not intentional, but that is both funny and cute.
"You were the cause of everything." And Endeavor just agrees. That's hilarious. But... it was a team effort! 😃 Clap it up for Endeavor for Dabi, AFO for just being AFO, the Doctor for being very disrespectful by MESSING WITH CORPSES, Kotaro for being a crap dad...
The civilians telling the heroes to leave and they're doing just that... like they're leaving!!!
Best Jeanist catching the stuff thrown at them though.
Okay, I don't get the civilians. They're mad at the heroes for not showing up and yet when they do show up to help they're mad!! MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!
Izuku Midoriya bet not become a target... *sighs in manga reader* I hate the civilians...
"I can't let Deku carry any more burdens." 😶 This is Izuku you're talking about here.
He is so pretty.
Why they even put that man on life support?!
Gotta feel sorry for Tomura. AFO really just have been using him the whole time.
"He is obsessed with his younger brother." I mean, look at that face!! Yoichi is just so kind and pretty! I would want to protect him, too! The difference is I'm not gonna lock him in a vault and be a creep about it. I'm glad the 2nd & 3rd broke him out!!
"A lack of humanity." Yep
Again, I'm telling you, Deku is being like All Might was. Without meaning to. YOU SEE WHAT NIGHTEYE MEANT?!
Oh shit, did she just shoot his phone and a bomb at All Might! DISRESPECTFUL!!
Lady Nagant!!! Wait a fucking minute!!! HER HAIR ARE HER BULLETS?! WHAT THE HELL?!
"I'll let you keep all your limbs." Lady, he doesn't even take of his limbs like that. Your threats are so empty.
Oh, she's gorgeous!
Hey, Overhaul, how was prison?
OH SHIT THEY GOT SNIPE ON TV!!!
"I should have left him behind." Why didn't you?
I forget how damn big AFO is. Him and All Might just make everyone look like ants.
Except for that fox lady and some other folks.
I love how she just interrupts AFO. Not a lot of people have the balls, but she got brash ones.
"He was a victim..." ERI WAS THE VICTIM!! Of course, AFO wouldn't care about that because he doesn't give a damn about anyone!
He gave her Air Walk, oh nice.
And the next episode continues with the fight!!!

Nighteye's perspective towards handling feelings of regret and how to respond to them is reasonable and healthy. But the problem is that even after learning about Eri's part in Overhaul's plan, Nighteye still believed Mirio made the right call.
Even Mirio himself realized by this meeting at Nighteye's Agency that he was in the wrong for not trying to save Eri in his first confrontation with Overhaul.
Nighteye's core problem can be summed up as this - "perfect is the enemy of good". Nighteye was reluctant to act until he was sure of something. That prevented him from executing all saves where he did not have perfect information - which in a first responder adjacent field like hero work is going to include most people in need of saving.

Oh man that torture scene in Fool’s Errand was ROUGH. Insane how much raw anger came out of him from feeling aligned with the piebalds when this kid basically just called him what he is: old blood. The sudden blinding sensation that he won’t ever have a life if this kid doesn’t shut up. The way he can’t reconcile this part of his identity without forcing violence on someone the way it was forced onto him… His entire character right now is wrestling with where he fits into discrimination, how much to align with a familiar world that wants the true him invisible if he can’t be dead.
And then all that paired with the fact that only nighteyes can snap him out of it. Because he’s a living reminder of Fitz’s true self, literally the part of him that’s so core it transcends death. The inescapable self reflected back at you. The thing you love about yourself, and you’d beat out of another and for a moment you’d even enjoy it. Fuck.
#there’s a lot more than this at play in this one scene#but I just can’t get over how this kid was him staring at his old self#with no info aside from that he’s witted and an obstacle#and this was his reaction#this is such an insane and intimate way to write a conflict of identity#specifically a conflict you can choose to hide and pretend to be normal#but you know#and the truth always finds you#and really you want it to#it’s your best friend your companion the only one that really knows you#but still if you had control for a moment you’d beat it senseless out of someone else because that’s what you do#I’m going insane#rote#realm of the elderlings#Fitz rote#tawny man trilogy#tawny man spoilers#rote spoilers#torture#rote read through
