An Endeavor related post made me remember something.
People call Endeavor a noble hero, but he doesn't even do his job unless he determines it's worth his time and/or he's negatively affected by it.
How do I know this?
The Mr. Smiley OVA. He didn't do anything about Mr. Smiley until he vandalized his house.
A bonus about the Mr. Smiley OVA: This was a missed opportunity to make the episode connected to Mic, as Mr. Smiley looked like he was related to him. I was lowkey expecting him to be Mic's dad and his motivation was to reconnect with his son after Oboro's death. Because he never saw his son smile again without using his quirk.
Hi @anartisicandautisticstararcher 👋
I know a bit about the smiley ova but I haven't watched it in it's entirety so I will be taking your word on enji choosing which villains are worth stopping.
That aside I do wanna say that if it is indeed canon that enji picks which villains are worthy of stopping and are needed to be taken down reminds me of sir nighteye and how he also chose certain villains to research/take down which is why his plan on overhaul was incredibly delayed as he was just Yakuza and nothing much in the eyes of nighteye that is.
I actually really like the idea of making the ova connected to mic and this actually helps shed light on how oboro's death has effected mic which isn't something that we see a lot of. Also this brings in an interesting factor is Mr smiley is making present mic smile by using his quirk is present mic even happy or is it simply the work of a quirk?!?! I think it would be interesting to have one of the characters point that out to Mr smiley and how he would react to that or is present mic just smiling (even with the influence of a quirk) just as satisfying to him?
I feel like we should also get aspects of present mic and Mr smiley's family life. For example are they close? Or have they grown a bit distant? Does Mr smiley still have that hobby of drawing and creating art works or does he not in this rewrite and more.

What times is? It's time to my weird takes...and ok this one is about Mirio. I posted the idea in my server but here go: Mirio makes sense to be the AM's heir especially as am is not a good mentor.
Now hear me out: many people in this damn story, including nezu, seems to think and even suggested to am.
Mirio has:
1) has perfect control on his quirk
2) has a look that great resembles to am meaning he can be the next symbol as am wanted.
3) has experience
Now I'm a Izu's girl here, but while Izu saving a PoS is noble...it's really worthy to give his legendary and mega important quirk ?( I don't think ofa is powerful but I digress) this could impress Am but...he needed to do more digging before making such decision.
But he didn't.
Mirio is the best choice...but Nighteye acted like a lunatic and creep and AM back out had Nighteye act like a sane person...Mirio could have get the quirk (now would Mirio accept said quirk? I'm not sure)
So ....this all make think how...afo is right Izu has absolutely nothing! Am gave the quirk to Izu but it was too hushed, and full of stubbornness.
Hori shits on Izu in so many levels. His quirk is only given to him bc Nighteye is a creep...that's it. It's not bc Izu is amazing (he is but they had one interaction to make such decision, especially as he has a clock ticking. )
On that front am has no plan ...nothing. so Izu got the quirk bc am has no plan and stubbornness and nighteye is a creep.
Hi 👋 @mikeellee ,
All of this. Actually, if Nighteye was less of a narcissist and creep toward AM, we likely wouldn't have seen Izuku with OFA.
Mirio is the perfect choice on paper for an OFA successor, which is something Nedzu recognises. And creepy Nighteye sees him as similar to AM.
Disregarding the asspull that came later about it killing quirked users of OFA which no one knew of until later in the narrative.
AM was very impulsive in giving Izuku OFA to achieve his dreams of heroism in that moment. But we, as the audience, know that it was the right choice for Izuku to be his successor.
That doesn't change that logically, AM should have given Izuku a sponsorship to become a hero with technology (like AM did later with the Iron Might suit) and Mirio the OFA quirk.

so, nighteye conceptually wouldnt make me that angry, bc rly izuku needs someone to contrast all mights wholehearted support. but frankly, aizawa does that well enough, and this shit?
Tumblr media
imagine saying this to a child you have never met before, who you admit to not knowing anything about, and deciding that they are worthless based on one encounter
Tumblr media
and then this? this is absolutely not your decision fuckhead. if you didnt want him to come you should have rejected him from the getgo. i get that hes all mights fan, but if he all mights fan, he should respect his decisions, so hes not a fan, hes barely even a friend

I've come to realize that I actually wouldn't have minded Aizawa, Nighteye, Shinsou, and even Bakugou characterizations IF THEY WERE ACTUALLY CALLED OUT BY THE NARRATIVE. There was an awesome fanfic that took place in the Sports Festival where Izuku vs Shinsou happened the same way, but the Pro Heroes were turned off by Shinsou's attitude. It's also why I wish 1A would have stuck with not liking Bakugou.
But no, let's harp on Izuku and All Might for the smallest mistakes they make and blame them for things beyond their control 🙄
To be completely fair to Nighteye, the narrative actually does call him out. Like, not outright, but we're not supposed to like him or be on his side. He's actually one of the few asshole characters the narrative bothers to treat like one (Monoma is another one, I can't think of any others. Maybe Mineta? But his antics are done for laughs). The only thing I would say goes completely under the radar is him strapping down his employee to tickle her- Horikoshi I am in your walls- but we are supposed to dislike him for how he treats Izuku.
I actually do think that in some ways a narrative should be harder on its main characters. Like, I don't mind more being expected of Izuku as the protagonist or All Might as the deuteragonist. However, that means fuck all because Bakugou's the deuteragonist now and both Izuku and All Might are still held to a higher standard than he is. Bakugou can do and say whatever the fuck he wants and the narrative doesn't even bother to check him, let alone the other characters.
Bakugou and Shinsou should be treated like Monoma is by 1A. Like, I get Bakugou to some degree since they've been through more with him, but Shinsou has been just as nasty to them as Monoma and has absolutely nothing to back that up. If I'm not mistaken, didn't he literally call Shoji (or was it Ojiro) a name to make fun of his looks? And the difference in the way the narrative treats Bakugou as opposed to Monoma has always bothered me. Why are the few digs Monoma throws at 1A treated with more contempt than Bakugou's literal acts of aggression and violence against Izuku?
But the actual worse is Aizawa because in Horikoshi's mind Aizawa doesn't actually do anything wrong. He's hailed as a "good teacher" who teaches the hard lessons his students "need." Fucking Kakashi wannabe. The absolute audacity to compare Gojo to Kakashi when Aizawa is right there istfg I'm gonna lose it- All Might getting so much shit when he's actually trying and improving while Aizawa's praised as such a good teacher is my 13th reason.
The way Horikoshi plays favorites with his characters is so blatantly obvious, yet someone will look you dead in your eye and tell you that Bakugou is treated worse than Izuku is. Like gtfo my face

I'm bored so here, have an oversimplified meme regarding my rewrite of stains origin.
The trial of pro hero stendhal for killing the villain moonfish in public in a nutshell:
Stendhal: you spineless cowards! I know plenty of you have killed villains before, yet here you are bowing down to artie ziff up there! Look at him, like he's some kind of caesar.
Sir nighteye: ugh, don't be so overdramatic, I obviously don't think I'm caesar...now release the lions.

6 months after the Broadcast
In the media control room of the Safety Commission HQ, alarms blared on full blast as teams of agents scrambled to do damage control.
"What's the hell's going on in here!?."
The head of the Safety Commission Technology Sector bellowed as he stomped down the corridor towards the central control panel.
"Somethings wrong, w-we've been locked out our servers." A technician stuttered out.
He shoved his subordinate out of the way, his look slowly shifting to one of realization and horror as he gazed upon the monitor screen.
"shit. Shit, shit SHIT!. Get the president on the line!" He yelled.
"W-we can't his flight from the UN HQ was delayed!. He's still in there." The techie replied, anxiously rubbing his wrists in his panic.
A notification chime was heard from the main display. Slowly everyone in the room began to lift their heads in terror.
A pop up displayed four simple words.
[The Past Never Dies]
"Fuck." Was all the commander could muster as his gaze switched to the massive display screen that lit up the room.
At 12:00 AM, PT, A series of documents and files were thrown onto the web by an unknown source.
Their name, Hornet.
Any tech capable of displaying information to the public was overridden with video feed, audio logs and prerecorded messages found within the files.
The contents of which ranged from camera feed of Sir Nighteye's misconduct towards his secretary to an entire written breakdown of Ubwami's abuse of the 1st year's Apprenticeship Program and it's consequences.
No stone was left unturned. Comm leaks from during the war were found, further fueling the allegations of apologetics and suspected corruption.
With Rei Todoroki's disappearance happening only a couple months prior, the Burnin' agency struggled go maintain it's already shaky standing among the public.
Burnin and the rest of the Flaming Sidekicks attempted to explain their decisions to no avail, with the agency and it's members going on temporary leave for the foreseeable future.
UA had held on by the skin of their teeth, with their servers being closed for repairs since the war ended, they had narrowly avoided meeting the fates of their associates.
These would be come to known as the League Leaks and their debute would reshape the future of humanity as we know it.
But to look forward, one must first understand the past so let us take a look at the current ongoings taking place on the other end of the globe.
÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷
UN Headquarters, Europe.
A gavel smashed against the podium, demanding the attention of a frantic crowd.
For the first time since the 'advent of the exceptional', national leaders from across the world were meeting face to face. At the center of it all, stood the HSPC leader, Hawks.
Although he did not rule the nation, the royal family had not held power in ages, thus the HPSC president was considered an acceptable substitute.
Again the gavel struck the podium at the center of the stands and finally the chatter stopped.
The UN representative dragged a hand down his face.
Originally this meeting was going to be discussing the compensation given to the countries that aided in the cleanup effort after the war, only for a data leak to surface and spread worse then the Niño Diablo that had recently crushed the America's.
He looked up to see the young president staring at him like some kind of child, clearly (and fortunately) he was not aware of the leaks. Though judging by some faces, that would be changing today.
The representative tried not to glare as he spoke into his mic.
"This meeting was originally going to discuss Japan's plans to repay the nation's of Singapore, Australia, The United States, New Korea and China." The man spoke with a controlled tone.
"However some information has come to light that has changed that, as such my superiors believe it would be best for the nation's gathered here to both discuss the newly found info as well as the next steps going forward. Whomever wishes to speak, please do so now."
SLAM!
The noise came from the northwest of the side of the stands, the furious expression of bared teeth and blazing eyes signaled the fury of the Korean President.
Even with the man's quirk giving him resemblance to a Siberian Tiger, it failed to match the fury lacing his tone
His huff came with a deep growl as he spoke.
"When your nation was in shambles, we were made to pick up the slack. Our heroes worked day and night to aid in your rebuilding project, no matter how ludicrous the deadlines and today we find our you repay us by going behind our backs!." The Tiger-man bellowed.
Hawks replied "woah, woah big man easy. Would someone mind informing me what happend exactly."
"Gladly" France's Prime Minister tsked from the eastern side of the stands.
"Around 4 hours ago, a series of documents were uploaded to ze web, showing very compromising footage. As such myself and the nation's of Germany, Otheon, Italy, Ze UK and the rest of ze EU are opting for further investigations into ze HPSC" Her head turned to the UN representative as she finished.
"If I may" The attention drew on the Pro Hero, Typhoon (known to the ignorant as the Big Red Dot)
"As the representative of Singapore, me and my colleagues believe Japan should face punishment for their attitudes and actions. The HPSC has made no statement as of yet and thus far has shown no remorse for their past actions, would it be possible to list some of these actions" Typhoon stated.
The UN representative adjusted his glasses as he read off the paper.
"Of course, thus far the following have been confirmed: Political assassination, domestic terrorism, bribery, unlawful imprisonment, tampering of multiple corpses, larceny in regards to past targets, corruption, falsifying a suicide. These are all crimes the Commission is suspected to be guilty of and substantial evidence has been found backing up those claims." He mechanically stated to the court.
"As such the this meeting has been altered from one discussing resources to now discussing if Japan even has a seat at this table, so to speak. All should note that this will by an arduous process and should more come to light it will be even longer, so please do not expect this to be a one time thing." The representative explained
Words of acknowledgement were spoken in unison.
Hawks paused uncharacteristically, eyes showing that his mind was firing on all cylinders to make a response.
He went with courtesy. "Alright, I can see where your coming from, but the HPSC is dead. The crimes mentioned were done by the last 2 presidents. I intend to make a change."
"Oh, as I'm sure you're aware that some of those crimes were carried out by yourself, does the name 'Jin Bubaigawra' ring a bell?" The VP of the United States bluntly added.
"I was under the Commission's thumb, I was just following-"
"BULLSHIT!". cried out Typhoon, water flowing from his mouth as his quirk activated in fury.
"I WILL NOT SIT IDLY BY, AS YOU SO SHAMELESSLY LIE TO OUR FACES!. Do you take us for fools!?. We've read the logs Hawks and not once were you ever given permission to kill!"
The word 'permission' launched off his tongue like poison. The Singaporean Lion emphasized his rant with a slam to his desk.
That got the pot stirring.
"Oh a murderer in office, what else is new for your nation. Some odd 250 years ago it was the Imperial Emperor and now this, Well I won't stand for it and none of you should either!." The Korean President roared.
Then it was US's turn.
"Furthermore, how do we know you aren't just a figurehead while the Commission schemes in the shadows?. Do you really expect us to believe in you or your methods." The Vice President spoke up.
"The commission has changed under my leadership-"
"You?, the same man who thinks the best way to help 'those that slipped through the cracks' is to kill them?" Huffed India's representative, his arms crossed.
The room quickly went wild with questions and heated remarks.
The Gavel slammed once, then twice more.
"Order, Order!. We must continue with the proceedings, please remember that the next meeting we have will be hosted live to address these matters. You are representative of your nations, act like it!. "
The room was left throughly cowed.
The representative continued, his tone a little softer.
"I understand these are stressful times but we must keep our composure and focus on the matters at hand. Let us continue where we left off, Hawks if you could-"
Much was said, more was planned and as the 3 hour meeting came to a close, every person that left the room knew things would never be the same.
Even in death, Tomura Shigaraki won.

I Want To Talk About Gran Torino
Gran Torino is an interesting character (like the majority of MHA's characters) that I believe has been let down by bad writing. Keep in mind that this is 100% my opinion, and you don't have to take it at face value.
So Gran Torino was All Might's other mentor in addition to Nana. Because All Might had instantly mastered using OFA after receiving it from Nana, Gran Torino focused on combat training with All Might, going so hard with him that it made All Might scared of him even years down the line.
Years later, Gran Torino requests that Izuku intern with him because he hates how All Might's been teaching him. From what we've seen in the Stain Arc, he's softer (I guess?) on Izuku than he was towards All Might. Sure, Gran Torino didn't treat Izuku with kid gloves either, but he didn't invoke the fear of God in him either.
For the meat of this post, I want to talk about how Gran Torino tries and fails to be the older, experienced mentor of the story. Specifically, I want to talk about how to me, it seems like he hates All Might, or at the very least doesn't like him.
I don't mind that he criticized All Might's teaching skills because they could definitely use some improvement. However, not ONCE does he ever offer any advice on how to improve them. All he does is criticize, criticize, criticize. And then he has the nerve to wonder why All Might never writes, calls, or visits? Hell, All Might was EXTREMELY reluctant to even send Izuku in his direction.
Then he does something that I don't think gets talked about enough: he speaks glowingly and highly of Sir Nighteye.
Now, I'm not sure if he knew about the extent of how Sir Nighteye disrespectfully treated All Might, but he was definitely there when he was trying to force All Might to retire. While I do agree with where Nighteye was coming from, that is NOT his decision to make. Sir Nighteye treats All Might as a possession rather than a person (keep in mind that he wore All Might down into accepting him as his sidekick), and to essentially see Gran Torino praising that... the implications aren't good.
It would have been one thing if we got more moments where we see that Gran Torino really cares. We could have seen him stand up to Nighteye on how he can't make all of All Might's decisions for him. We could have seen him choosing to treat Izuku the way he does because he's come to regret how he treated All Might (a la Jay, Manny, and Mitchell in Modern Family). We could have gotten some funny awkwardness as they try properly bonding with one another. That would have made things interesting, but nope.
Instead, we get another wasted character and yet another instance of All Might getting shitted on by the narrative 🙃.

mha rant#5- sir nighteye is a creep and no one can tell me otherwise
i think out of everyone who knows about one for all sir nighteye is second worst (the actual worst being bakugo{yes i hate this little bitch to the point where every post I make will throw shade at him on some form or another. Is it unhealthy, maybe. Should I fix it, probably not because it gives me inspiration}). He not only does disobey all might request by hiring an intern for the sake of getting one for all, but he completely disregards all mights feelings in the the matter. Like, who do you think you are, his mother!?
Oh, and on to mirio, nighteye is a creep for a hiring, for what is to him and all might clone. Want proof I got three keys pieces of evidence
The crap ton of am merch he owns( he owns more than izuku)
The treatment meant if izuku: basically bullies him so that he gives mirio one for all. (Though he probably doesn't care that mirio will probably
He says he's doing it for all mights sake, but is it really?
You would think that he would get consequences, but nope. This is my my abuser academia where assholes and abusers don't get their just desserts. And people call izuku a stalker. Also on a side note remember when izuku tried to give mirio of a at the end of season 4A, now let's fast forward to the reveal where ofa killed it quirked users, do you see what i'm getting at here? Nighteye's plan would have failed either way, and the real kicker here is that mirio, who was to be his all might clone, basically destroyed his plan by saying he wouldn't have taken it if it meant destroying someone else's chance to be hero.

Can you do some headcanons of Fat Gum, Ryuukyu and Sir Nighteye taking custody of a teen reader who is a reformed villian/vigilante.
Fatgum, Ryukyu, and Sir Nighteye x. Reformed Villain/Vigilante Teen Reader
Fatgum:
You grew up among villains since your parents were villains, they never really taught you right from wrong and kinda neglected you
You mostly just stole in order to survive, taking only what you needed and nothing more
One day you stole but got cornered by none other than Suneater, with little to no choice, you used your quirk to phase through him but ran right into Fatgum, literally
You got stuck in his fat but after you passed out, he realized just how skinny you were
He took you to the hospital and was upset to find that not only were you severely underweight and slightly malnourished, but your parents had been arrested leaving you to fend for yourself
He decided that moment that he would take you under his wing, he’d teach you right from wrong and give you whatever you needed to get on the right path
When you woke up and he told you it was either go with him or juvenile detention, you happily chose him
The first thing he did was bring you food and help you get to a healthy weight
Once that was done, he began to help you with learning to live normally and even helped you learn how to make friends at your new school, Shiketsu Academy
As your life began to change and become more normalized, you thanked Fatgum who decided to adopt you since you needed an active and actual parental figure in your life
From that day on you happily accepted your new dad and the two of you became family
You would try to cook all kinds of different foods and you both would try them, sometimes you made a great dish and other times… well, you believed in not wasting food but that ended up with you in the hospital from having food poisoning so…
You began to have a passion for cooking and would become a great chef all thanks to your dad
Ryukyu:
You were an anti-hero. You did what was necessary to keep others safe and would even kill to protect the innocent
You were skilled in combat and were pretty decent with the use of your quirk
One day you cornered a particularly nasty villain and had nearly managed to take them out but suddenly you were both shot at
You saw a couple heroes and tried to escape only to be confronted by Ryukyu
You tried to escape but after Ryukyu decided to transform, your battle was over
Since you technically had yet to kill, but had incredible skill, the HPSC hoped that you could be reformed into a hero
So they decided that you would be placed in the care of Ryukyu
At first, you tried to sneak out only to get caught every time, you’d constantly argue with Ryukyu on morals and rules, saying that some were stupid and that others needed revision
When Ryukyu saw how you viewed society, she discovered that you weren’t necessarily wrong, but you could definitely go about things in a better way
She decided to help you find a better way to make the changes you wanted to make in society but in legal ways only
As you both grew to have a mutual understanding and respect for one another’s views and values, you decided that she wasn’t so bad and accepted her
As that happened, she too, accepted you and you both became extremely close, almost like family
After that, you would go on to become one of the best underground heroes ever
Sir Nighteye:
Reader was an Orphan and a vigilante who used their own gear that they designed to catch criminals
You never used your quirk on criminals since that would be breaking the law and you didn’t want to get in trouble for that
You had created small devices that were a disguised as bugs like dragonflies and butterflies/moths. You made them contain small cameras and have tracking devices in them
These devices would fly around and would be able to attach small trackers to people or things when they land on them
You used these spy flies to help you with your vigilante work, you’d track criminals to places and use your technology to apprehend them and then alert the police to come and get them
You made sure to wear a mask and hide your identity, you also didn’t leave your technology behind for heroes to find and repurpose or mess with since your creations were precious to you
The Nighteye agency had been investigating your work and were trying to apprehend you but you kept evading them
One day, Sir Nighteye used his quirk on a suspected criminal and foresaw you apprehending them and decided to set up a trap for you
You followed the suspect to an abandoned warehouse where he and his supposed associates were hiding. Only to be caught by the Nighteye agency
When Sir Nighteye saw how young you really were, he decided that your talents would be wasted in Juvenile Detention and that you had a bright future ahead of you, granted, that you stayed on the right path
When Nighteye found out that you had been rescued by All Might as a child when your parents had died in an apartment building’s collapse, he saw how much you admired All Might
When you told him that All Might is an older hero and that he’s bound to retire eventually and that you feared for that day and that’s why you became a vigilante, he knew that you were a good kid and just needed a helping hand to get you on the right path in life
So he decided to take you in and teach you how to become a hero and although he may be strict and seem like a scary and intimidating guy, you both bonded over your admiration for All Might
When you showed him and had explained to him all your technology and how it works, he was curious as to why you weren’t in a hero school in a support course, you explained to him that your orphanage didn’t have the funding to send you to a hero school, which is why you had no other choice but to become a vigilante
After that, he decided to use his connections to enroll you in UA’s support course, to which you thanked him endlessly and hugged him calling him your hero. After that, he also adopted you and became your legal guardian
In time, you and your new friend Mei Hastume would become partners and become two of that century’s greatest technological creators and you both would go to live on I-Island

A New End: Villain Origin
Tumblr media
MDNI
this one is sfw but the series contains eventual smut
Tomura Shigaraki x gn/afab reader
Warnings/Content/etc: swearing, light mentions of violence, eventual spoilers, and eventual smut.
this is the intro - part 1
|\/\/\| villain origin |/\/\/|
You were promised a future.
Somehow your future vision quirk got you through the entry exams and into UA high. Congratulations, here's a new home, new classmates, and a great big glowing ball of hope. You'd do well in school, study under Nighteye, and go on to become a pro hero.
Don't fuck it up.
Your quirk isn't without its limitations though: you only see the future of decisions that emotionally impact you. Sometimes you don't consciously see visions at all, feeling a strong pull most would call “extreme intuition” but you always knew it was your quirk guiding you.
When you arrive at school, being placed in a room full of people who've spent their lives being praised for their flashy abilities, you don't fit in. They make sure you know that. Most of them, that is. Some just don't say anything to stick up for you at all. Some heroes they’ll be. It would be impossible to care enough about any of your classmates to have useful premonitions so you might as well have been quirkless.
In a class of what were supposed to be your peers, you felt alone. Isolated. That's why, when your quirk kicked in during a mock battle showing you the way to win, you didn't just take the victory. You annihilated the other team, putting four of them in the hospital. Every asshole treating you like an outcast being victimized and praised while you were the bad guy.
That's how you got kicked out of UA. Left sitting on the sidelines while they all became pro heroes.
From that day on, it felt like you were drifting through life. Searching for something but never quite finding out what it is.
Walking into this dingy bar, you should feel something like fear. But you don't. The intuitive side of your quirk brought you to this place, nearly forcing your footsteps as you shadow Girian.
“Who do we have this time,” a raspy voice calls out.
“You’ll like this one, more polite than the others. And, they have a future vision quirk,” answers Girian. You can feel the annoyance in his voice as if he’s had this conversation a few too many times and is sick of explaining himself.
“Got it. What’s your name?” the blue haired man at the bar asks.
“[L/N][Y/N],” you reply. Getting a better look at him, he looked more intimidating on TV. Here, he’s just a regular guy with a really weird hand mask.
“Okay then, do your thing, [L/N].”
“I-,” you stutter. It feels like UA all over again. But would your quirk lead you back to that situation again? You don’t think so. “It doesn’t work that way.”
For the first time, his blood red eyes look in your direction. He doesn’t even bother to hide the cringe beneath the hand covering his face.
Well, it was worth trying. Time to go.
As you turn to leave, the raspy voice rings out again.
“Wait, where are you going? We aren’t done talking. So much for manners…” he trails off muttering to himself.
“What else is there to talk about? I thought I could be useful to you but I’m not being treated like an outcast again.”
“HA!” you flinch, his laughter catching you off guard. “You think you’d be the outcast here?”
Admittedly, you hadn’t really thought about it. You knew they were putting together some sort of anti-hero villains league, but having never been a “villain” you still thought you’d feel left out somehow. You never considered, maybe that’s what makes people come here in the first place.
“We’ll use your quirk. Probably have to keep you around like some sort of oracle so we don’t miss anything. You’ll stay here,” he nods to the smokey man looming behind the bar.
“Right this way,” the cloudy figure gestures to you, “I’ll show you to your quarters.”
Moving from your apartment took all of three trips with one of Kurogiri’s warp gates. Once your bed and dresser were set up, it was just a few boxes of clothes, books, and bits of decor left to move. In spite of looking wispy, you were surprised to find the smokey man is incredibly strong and could carry most of your belongings at once.
Adjusting to your new surroundings has been easier than expected too. While you hadn’t seen your new boss much more than in passing, a few others have come around and some seem nice. You’re excited at the prospect of being able to work with people.
Girian noted you were the first Shigaraki has accepted on the spot, which is encouraging. You’ve never been picked first for any team before.
Maybe you do belong here.

Every time I read anti-Nighteye posts I want to pull my own head off my shoulders in consternation and bewilderment and chuck it at the person
but I remind myself that 1) I will not change anybody's mind and 2) my own interpretation of his character and actions is also pretty subjective, an extrapolation of minimal canonical material
but still
that guy loved All Might so freaking much (canonical) and was so devastated by his refusal to take care of himself/let others take care of him in the face of his own impending doom (canonical) that I strenuously object to readings of his subsequent conduct as petty or self-serving. ok he is an asshole (canonical), but taking on Mirio was about trying to safeguard and preserve something he cherished and was afraid would be lost forever, and his nastiness toward Izuku strikes me as a transparent trauma/fear response--and yes also as misdirected anger toward All Might, which is not praiseworthy in him but which I find understandable and human (subjective)
also I have yet to see anti-Nighteye material that dings him for putting one of his employees into a kinky tickle box, what's up with that

Since Nighteye was an asshole in canon, I recently came up with this idea of him being a twist villain after talking to one of my Discord Buddies about it.
Like after they save Eri from Overhaul Nighteye monologues about how Eri's quirk can benefit society if under control. Because he DEFINITELY comes across as someone who LOVES being in control of others.
And the reason he hates Izuku because he can already tell that he wouldn't be able to control him because of his unbreaking spirit and willingness to do the right thing, so Nighteye knows he wouldn't be able to do things his way for long.
So what do you think about this scenario?
Hi @theloganator101 👋,
I would love Nighteye as a villain in this scenario, not as a typical 'Nighteye as a LOV member/ traitor to the heroes' scenario but as a malevolent person, out for themselves who craves being in control of others.
Him wanting control of Eri fits his true character to a T since:
He hates Izuku because he can't control him.
Nighteye also hates Izuku because he represents All Might going against HIS wishes and his choice of successor (Mirio.)
He craves being in control of powerful people so it benefits him by association with them (Eri and All Might.)

For the ask game, an au where Izuku stole overhaul quirk?
I don't know why but I adore AUs where Izuku steals the Overhaul's quirk. There is just something so funny about the trash toucan who hates quirks to have his own quirk stolen only for him to make the surprise pikachu face.
1 - So, during the raid on the yakuza, Izuku is the one shot with the anti quirk bullet. You know, the quirk that can erase forever one (1) quirk. Which means OFA is gone. Forever. Poof.
2 - There is no word to describe Izuku's sheer rage as he realizes that the ultimate All Might merch is gone. (And let's not talk about Nighteye's wail of despair and him claiming that Mirio never would have lost his quirk like that.) Chisaki sees visions of his own death. Tamaki grabs Mirio and Eri and runs until he is another city. Every member of the Eight Principles except for Chrono decide to change career (half of them become florists).
3 - Chisaki is slowly backing away and feeling that he might have made a mistake when the teenager that is foaming at the mouth slaps the crap out of him, removing his quirk right here and there. Then... Listen, Chisaki doesn't die, because Izuku wants him to live a very long life in Tartarus, but he probably wished he did.
4 - Izuku is crying for the next three days. Fortunately, he is consoled by his Dadmight, who assures him that everything will be alright, and by all the quirks he slapped of every passing villains. All Might even promised him to take him on a tour to Tartarus once he feels better. Meanwhile, the entire villain community is freaking out because of All for One's second coming.
5 - Nighteye keeps screeching and pointing at Izuku but eventually manages to communicate a question as to how Izuku is able to steal quirks. All Might and Izuku both look at him like he is stupid: it's obviously OFA being rewound into AFO's original quirk, duh.

I know that this isn't a problem unique to MHA, and this isn't even a new complaint within the fandom, but the way the series deals with trauma (physical and mental) is off-putting.
Eri endures years upon years of isolation and abuse? Well, all she needs is a song and dance, and now she's smiling! Because of this, she's completely and 100% recovered from what all Overhaul put her through!
1A endures villain attack after villain attack after villain attack? Well, we've offered them counseling, not that they've been showing signs of burgeoning PTSD or anything, so they really don't need it!
Izuku mentally and physically pushes himself past his breaking point during the Dark Izuku arc, going without food, sleep, and ignoring his unhealed injuries? Obviously, all he needs is for 1A to drag him back by force and make him take bath! He's 100% good as new now!
I've already complained enough about Bakugou's bullying, so I won't rehash that.
Sir Nighteye repeatedly disregards All Might's boundaries in the name of protecting him from a horrible future, using two teenagers as a means to an end in this regard? It's okay! He had a point all along, and he truly cared!
Aizawa, Present Mic, and Midnight lose an incredibly close friend in a freak accident during their school days? Midnight's feelings aren't even explored, Present Mic neglects his own grief in favor of Aizawa, and Aizawa uses his grief as an excuse to be an asshole to everyone around him and play God with his students' futures, with NO ONE calling out his behavior as what it is.
I think the overarching problem with MHA is that Horikoshi simply doesn't know how to handle the subject of trauma or how victims can be affected by it.
It think it's why characters like Izuku, Todoroki, Eri, etc. don't feel like real people sometimes. Because if he actually focuses on their trauma, he also has to make them more complex and complexity can be very ugly. If he keeps them surface-level (Izuku being friendly/saving others, Todoroki being blunt/dry, and Eri being a cute kid), he doesn't have to get into the nitty gritty of their characters.
It would also mean making it about 20x harder to redeem Bakugou and Endeavor.
If we had more than vague flashbacks of Endeavor abusing 5 year old Todoroki, beating Rei and pushing her into insanity, and willfully neglecting Touya as his mental health deteriorates more and more, he would be seen as a lot more than simply overzealous and misguided ambition that got out of hand. He would be seen as a monster. Horikoshi has to keep flashbacks of the Todoroki family surface-level or Endeavor's redemption wouldn't have been nearly as well-received.
And of course we've gone over Bakugou. He has to saturate Bakugou with comedy or the shit he pulls would come off a lot more disturbing. If every scene with him was like the Battle Trials, he wouldn't be looked upon nearly as favorably. He wouldn't be funny or endearing (he isn't to me anyway, but I'm talking about in general), he would just be deranged and violent.
There's also the fact that Horikoshi tries his best to keep things lighthearted. I think it's because he's more comfortable doing so and it explains why Dark Deku was so disappointing. To shroud the story in a darker tone- especially with a character he tries to keep light and cheery at all times- really didn't work for him.
I think the proof is in him keeping so many characters alive when they should have died. He is unable to write the affect characters like Gran Torino and Bakugou dying would have on Izuku which is why he couldn't commit himself to killing them off.
Problem with Aizawa is that no one (Horikoshi included) sees a problem with his behavior. He's justified in his "tough love" and is seen as such a good teacher. Although for Midnight and Present Mic, I feel as though he just doesn't bother giving them any depth at all. Midnight only exists for perverted jokes and Mic is simply supposed to be a contrast for Aizawa (a prop really). He actually did start to give Midnight depth and character, but it was only like five minutes before killing her off😐
(It would have been nice if Midnight being an R-rated hero was a product of society. Her being sexualized her whole life because of her quirk/appearance and just deciding to embrace it because it was the only way to reasonably become a hero has always been my headcanon. Her civilian clothes aren't revealing (not that that really matters) and when it comes to being a hero she's very sweet and encouraging and so unlike what we see usually. When she was being interviewed about her costume, she actually started to give a really good answer before Horikoshi decided to make a cat fight out of it. That really sums up the story as a whole, it starts off really deep and intricate before eventually being interrupted by juvenile jokes and unnecessary situations)
I really wish we could have seen more of Eri's recovery. I feel like her trauma is really overlooked/ignored outside of being a plot device to be saved by Izuku and Mirio. I think the light novel of Aizawa having Bakugou of all people watch her is proof of that. Why on Earth would he take the chance that Bakugou- someone who has repeatedly dismissed others' trauma, attacked those weaker than him, and been insensitive to others' feelings, and has a destructive quirk- could trigger her? Why use Eri- an abused, traumatized kid- as a tool to make Bakugou better? But sure, Aizawa is such a good teacher, right?
(Seriously, what the fuck?)
Someone needed to tell Nighteye to shut the fuck up. This doesn't really contribute anything to this post, but I needed to say it. There's literally nothing good about him (HE STRAPPED HIS SUBORDINATE TO A TICKLE MACHINE TO FORCE HER TO LAUGH)

Where are all the vigilantes
Has anyone else noticed the lack of viglantes in mha?(excluding the vigilantes spin off manga) Like, the only characters in the main series that count vigilantes are gentle, la brava, and stain. With the former two being thieves who want to be famous, and the latter being a goddamn serial killer. Izuku briefly acts as a vigilante but then goes right back to ua after his "friends" beat him down... oops I mean "Help" him. So I've decided to take matters into my own hands and create a vigilante oc myself. Everyone give a warm welcome to Hachurui Waniguchi.
alias: herpeton
Quirk: herpetile
Quirk description: herpetile gives the user the features and abilties of a wide assortment of amphibians and non avian reptiles. This can range from herculean strength(herpeton is about as strong as spider man and the lizard), and atomic grip, a speed of 830 mph, wall crawling, steel crushing jaws, venomous spines, highly enhanced senses, extra senses, walking on water, breathing underwater, a super long prehensile tongue, gliding, cat like reflexes, high jumping, super regeneration, extreme durability, protective mucous barrier, pheromone induced telepathy to towards any tetrapod, a long tail, sonic croaking, high pain tolerance, cloaking, and a flexible body.
Even with his smorgasbord of abilities, herpeton does have some weakness, such as the cold, pungent odors, electricity, and vibrational attacks like sound or shockwaves.
Backstory: Hachurui was shojis best since kindergarten and the two have been like brotgers ever since. Hachurui was the son of kyoryu and ogama waniguchi, who were famous mutant rights activists. Unfortunately, his life changed when an anti mutant mob led by the villain dreadknight. Hachurui managed to escape but his parents weren't so lucky. Fleeing to the big city, rui was feared for his animalistic appearance and quadrupedal locamotion. Eventually he switched walking on two legs more often and pulled his tail in like a turtle to appear at least somewhat human. One night he came across two thugs mugging an old man. Using his monsterous appearance he scared away the crooks and helped to old man home. Turns out this man was Icarus pipistrello, who belonged to a long line of quirkless vigilantes that have been serving up justice sinced before quirks even existed. Icarus adopted rui as his son and through his mentorship, became the terrific herpeton. Now he attends ua as a gen ed student with his more humanoid form, and in his spare time he takes his more animalistic form as the vigilante herpeton. But it seems a certain sidekick-turned-president-of-the-HPSC wants him out of the picture, lest he tear down the illusion of hero society he had worked so hard to maintain.
Well what do you guys think? I'm thinking of using this as a baseline for an au I've brainstormed. It will have changed from canon like bakugou never getting into ua, all for one being dead 6 years prior, all might already retiring at the start due to a crippling injury, sir nighteye being the head of the hpsc, the league of villains never forming, etc.
