I did not get into Game of thrones when it first started airing. In fact, I waited until it was long past it's heyday (around s6 or 7) to check it out because the marketing and the conversation surrounding it misled me into thinking it was nothing more than "grimdark" bullshit. As one famous YouTuber sarcastically called it "hot fantasy that fucks." So, I avoided Martin's work for literal years due to the impression that I got from online reactors and show-only casuals who did as you and a few others have described as his work being fundamentally misinterpreted.
Fortunately, I overcame my hang-ups, purchased the books (even the supplementary material) and fell down an entire rabbit hole of ASOIAF which led me to recognizing that this world he spent decades creating is far more complex than what had been portrayed onscreen. Regardless of the possibility of the books remaining unfinished (which I am fine with, personally), what George has created is a genuine work of art that I imagine took a tremendous amount of time and energy. So, for so many people online to behave like children and throw tantrums because they feel entitled to him (ew) instead of ushering forth more reasonable conversations and legitimate debates about the nature of his situation frankly makes me look at this fandom with a heavy dose of skepticism.
It is truly baffling to hear even professional critics and see articles describing George as being "ungrateful" or "unprofessional" when it has been well-documented just how often authors get locked out of the adaptation process and left to the wayside as consultants. Look at what happened to Rick Riordan and Christopher Paolini! George R.R. Martin is not the only author to have qualms with how a multimillion dollar studio has mishandled his creative work, and to act like he should remain silent just because he's amassed a certain degree of wealth is quite frankly, ridiculous. He shouldn't have to settle down, be grateful, and stay quiet because the greedy corporate executives and their media drones will get offended by actual criticism that could alter the perception of the adaption being revealed as mediocre for having departed from the source material.
TLDR: authors should be allowed to speak up about their art being sacrificed for commercialization.
Thank you so much for this message, anon! This needs to be talked about more, because I don't think a lot of commentators truly understand the vulgar, late-capitalistic sheen that seems to set in and slowly poison any ASOIAF adaptation. It honestly baffles me how quick some members of this fandom are to rush to the defense of, what is essentially (let's not be kidding ourselves here), a cashgrab by a giant corporation to the detriment of the actual artist and the actual creative foundation behind it.
Why else would "MAX" (if that is even their name) make another (or several other) ASOIAF adaptations? Not to stay true to any philosophical aesthetic vision, as it has become more than apparent with Season 2, but to increase shareholder profits by appealing to the lowest common denominator. Even the basic premise has been shifted in order to address popular trends and satisfy the mindless consumer that doesn't want to engage with anything deeper than their favourite tropes, prettily packaged:
from a story about a doomed ouroborous family superimposed on the pitfalls of feudalism, with villainy and heroism to be found on both sides, it has been simplified and reduced to a narrative that exalts white feminism and disqualifies anyone who opposes its girlboss protagonist. This is Sheryl Sandberg's version of Fire and Blood.
Truly, I think Sara Hess did (unintentionally) outline it the best: "civilians don't matter in Game of Thrones". They don't matter in Game of Thrones, but they matter in A Song of Ice and Fire. The entire heart of the series is contained in Septon Maribald's speech. The writers "kind of", must have forgotten, though.

A Revali Fanfic Recommendation
I urge you all to put your life on hold for a moment and go read this brilliant fanfiction:
A hundred years after the fall of Hyrule to Calamity Ganon, and the hero Link has finally sealed the darkness and freed the Divine Beasts of their curse - and with it, their pilots are finally free. But not just as spirits. Awake once again, the four Champions of old have a second chance at life and must re-adjust to this future world with their decendants. Well - all except for one Champion, who doesn't have a decentant. Or even anyone left alive that knew him. Teba is happy to take in his revived ancient idol as one of his own, but sharing a living space with a hundred year old Champion with an ego the size of his divine beast and who might have some issues he's not willing to share can be a lot sometimes and they don't always see eye to eye. Revali thinks he should return to leading the new generation of Rito warriors. Teba thinks this actual child should never have been leading warriors or fighting a war in the first place. Tulin is just excited to have the infamous Rito Champion in his house.
Beautifully written and lovingly crafted, this baby can fit so much trauma and whump into the most gut-wrenching and heat-breakingly found family story you may ever read. 130,000 words, 36 chapters (and still regularly updating!), and a CRIMINALLY low number of kudos. If that doesn't sway you, here is some gushing under the cut <3
You think you've read a champions revival fic before? This will have you saying "how the FUCK have I not seen this before" and completely change the way you view everything (mild exaggeration. m i l d). We have all of your favourite revali tropes: being a dick and getting owned, being a dick and being right, getting own and never showing those feelings to the light of day, getting killed, getting unkilled and loved, showing emotions but being super weird and revali about it, bonding with tulin!!, bonding with teba and the rest of rito village, bonding with the champions, having panic attacks and trauma, vah medoh being the best ever, being a terrifying force of nature, being an idiot kid, and so much more!
Do you like grumpy dad teba? Do you like revali swallowing his pride? Do you like revali immediately spitting his pride back up and being a bitchy bird? Do you like mipha and revali as gossip buddies? Do you like the complete and utter fool revali makes of himself everytime he so much as hears the name link? Do you like people seeing right through his facade and calling him out on it?
AND NOT TO MENTION THE WORLD BUILDING??? this fic is so in depth of the political climates, racism, lore, changes in culture during times of war, colonisation, biology of the races and just fucking everything?? It adds so much life to the world of hyrule I am genuinely shocked at how much this person clearly loves these games (botw/totk/aoc) and they are able to incorporate all of this amazing information in a way that flows so naturally and just hhrnngngg I am fucking insane about it. THE SCIENCE, oh my god how did I forget all the wonderous thoughts surrounding the divine beasts and the sheikah tech, oh god and how they write the magic system? Guys I swear it's so good.
Characterisation is on point, everyone feels so full of life and that they are reacting exactly how you would expect them too, and they just seem so real, like they are right beside you as you're reading. The author does an IMMACULATE job of drawing you in and making you feel a part of the story, all the while being just beautifully written?
Don't get me started on the attention to rito culture. I have never seen someone pour so much love into something before, genuinely on of the greatest things I've seen. I've always had a fascination over how the races of hyrule view each other, similarities and differences, how their cultures and histories intertwine, and conflicts that may arise. But oh. my. god. My jaw was on the floor every time, it's so rich and beautiful but not without the horrors (and oh god, they are Horrors tm) and again it's just so real!!!
Be warned, however, that there is gore and viscera and terror and hurt and war crimes and death (duh), but for each terrible thing to happen it is repaid tenfold in love and kindness somewhere down the line. (Unless you are into hurt no comfort, then sorry buddy!) It is a beautiful narrative and the exploration of trauma and self is mind boggling and just go read it!!! 😭 😭 😭 I just love this fic so much, it has instantly sky-rocketed to one of my top 3 favourite fics I've ever read, and I'm so grateful to have found it and now be along for the ride that if I could bring that to one more person then by god I will fucking do it

do hazbin for the meme!
Kisses you on the forehead. Thank you. ❤️
Who's the most ticklish character:
I just want to say all of them!!! That's like picking a favourite!
My twisted little heart is thinking about Lucifer. Most powerful being in Hell, brought to his knees by a little fluttering? Who doesn't love that trope?!
I think he's one big ticklish spot; and Charlie definitely took after him in that regard. The apple doesn't fall far. ❤️
Who's the character that most people would assume is ticklish, but actually isn't:
They're all ticklish. Don't come here with that nonsense.
Who's the character that everyone gangs up on and tickles:
Sir Pentious! My little guy! This man can't catch a goddamn break. I think his friends(found family aw) gangs up on him quite frequently. He just makes it so easy. Actively turning all the way around to look away, whenever anyone tickles someone in the hotel. He can't stand the sight! It makes his whole body tingle! And if he looks, he looks hard. It makes everyone uncomfortable. You're unsettling, Pent!
His friends gang up on him if he stares too hard. Let him have his fill, even if he screams and claims he isn't at all ticklish! He hates it, in fact(no he doesn't).
Who's the character that somehow knows everyone else's tickle spots and reveals them to others:
I feel like Vox has gained that nugget of information by happenstance. He has camera's everywhere in Hell, and has everything filed away accordingly. I don't think he's a freak about it, but if he finds out that someone he has beef with is ticklish, he will either use it as blackmail or just straight up broadcast it, as if anyone else but him gives a shit. He's petty as hell. He shares the information with Velvette as well, so she can post about it on Sinstergram. You know she lives for public humiliation.
Who's the character with one specific tickle spot that only one other person knows about:
My first thought was Niffty being close enough to Alastor to know this. But while they're very sweet together, the honor goes to Rosie. Sweet Rosie is handsy as hell with Al, and you can't convince me that he hasn't had her hands in his hair. Gracing her long fingernails over his ears; hearing a stiffled snort as a reward. No one must know. Rosie is chatty and loves some hot gossip, but this one thing she has sworn to secrecy. She loves dear Al too much to embarrass him like that. But you know she has gone for the kill a couple of times; just to remind him who he's sassing at.
Who's the most likely to win gang tickle wars:
My heart says Angel, but my brain says Alastor. Angel because six arms isn't something to sneeze at. And he's way more likely to engage.
But Alastor has his tentacles... Yeah. He would wreck shop. He just doesn't play that game very often. But holy shit, is he smug about it when he does. Tickle king.
Which character has a kink for tickling:
Valentino. Hello. The man who wears all the hats. I think every character is plenty capable of having a tickle kink, but I'm putting my money on the moth. You want soft and sweet? You came to the wroooong place! He sucks. Doesn't believe in safe words. It's just tickling. Don't be dramatic.
Which character didn't even know they were ticklish until another character tickled them:
Sweet Husk. Oh, I love him. Not really into the whole... Physical affection thing(yeah, right). While I have a hard time believing that he went through life never getting tickled, maybe he isn't aware of his demon form still being ticklish. And it might've startled him when Angel(of course) graced his fingers over the pads in his hand. Angel didn't catch on then, be he for sure found out later and felt cheated out of so many lost opportunities to tickle his precious bartender! The absolute audacity to keep that secret!
Which two characters have tickle fights all the time:
It's a tie between Charlie and Vaggie / Angel and Cherri!
Charlie instigates tickle fights every goddamn night before bed and I can't be convinced otherwise. She'll get hyperactive when she gets ready for bed, and needs a few minutes of dumb fun before she can get some sleep. Vaggie would pretend she hated it, but has since accepted Charlie's routine and even instigates a fight, if she happens to get into her pajamas, before Charlie. Plus, it's nice to help Charlie relax after a stressful day of rehabilitation.
Angel and Cherri trusts each other with their lives(quite literally) and that also means that they trust each other with their most secret spots.
Angel is unmatched in tickle fights! Six arms comes to good use; but he doesn't always use all six, only because he wants to at least give Cherri a fighting chance to win. She rarely does, tho. Cherri is explosive in her personality and loves to start shit, even if she knows she'll lose. Angel has since pointed it out and teases her about wanting to get wrecked.
She started fighting back with more vigor after that. She isn't allowed to touch his feet tho. Fuck off.

Cat now you have to share your favorite vilainess isekais the people need to know
GOD ok hmmmmm. In no particular order but here are my favourites and its strongest qualities:
Beware of the villainess
Tumblr media
Pros: Very funny, sympathetic to original female lead and villainess alike. Very self aware and critical of common tropes of the genre, specially regarding shitty male leads. Rare example of non subservient maid as well. Can't miss it with this one.
Cons: Male lead is boring and a bit annoyingly protective. I wish it was yuri. At least he's pathetic so there is that. Only character of colour is an agressive werewolf iirc so not great.
2. Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess
Tumblr media
Pros: Condemns shitty male leads, very sympathetic to the original villainess. Very cathartic in the 'shaming your abusive family' way. Good kind of pain and suffering. I find it very satisfying.
Cons: I don't like any of the male leads. Theres a yandere-esque guy, which is game ending for me but maybe not for you so, eh.
3. Milady just wants to relax
Tumblr media
Pros: Very satisfying and pleasant to read. She's fairly self sufficient at the start, and it avoids having the guys constantly rescue her. It's been a while so I dont rememeber details, but I gave it a high grade. Male leads have very fun furry designs.
Cons: Male leads have very lame human designs. They start doing annoying things like picking her up randomly later on. I dont know how it ends.
4. The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass
Tumblr media
Pros: Great revenge story. Main character is actually a villainess and gets to do shady, fucked up things. I don't hate the male lead. I personally find her very cute and I like inherent tragedy of her relationship with her evil ass sister.
Cons: I dont have a problem with that personally but her revenge has basically no bad consequences for her so dont expect this kind of depth. Still think its cool.
5. I Became the Stepmother of An Irrevocable Dark Family
Tumblr media
Pros: This one is kinda mid actually and I only read the novel BUT it has my favourite mother and child relationship in these. I found the kid genuinely very cute and endearing.
Cons: The guy is a fucking idiot and it has one of the most convoluted, stupid isekai reasons I have ever seen to justify that.
6. I want to be you, Just for a day
Tumblr media
Pros: Focused on the female lead and villainess and their deeply complicated relationship. Sympathetic to both of them and actually bothers with their feelings and struggles inherent to their positions. Revenge story. Very intense but cool.
Cons: Really dark in terms of abuse, violence etc. I don't know if the shitty male lead guy is end game or not so beware.
I like some others but they're not villainesses or at more mid so. There you go.

why YOU should play rf4!!!!
yes! you!! stardew valley player and/or person who had harvest moon on the ds as a kid and/or the person who is in any way, shape, or form a stereotypical tumblr user!!!!
please let me introduce one of my favourite games ever; rune factory four!!!
Tumblr media
the short explanation is that it's half farming sim, half actual plot. the game is split into, in total, three acts: act one, the first half of the plot; act two, the finale; and act three, which has more plot too but the game is considered completed after act two.
the plot is, basically, that you are an acting prince/princess of a town while you try to get your memories back. the whole thing is a lot more complex than that but spoilers, and it made me cry a couple times. very emotional lol.
see also:
your roommate is a dragon! just a full talking dragon. her name is venti and she's very sweet <3
lots of different characters! each character has a unique personality and there are a few common tropes, like "rude and brash but secretly soft and shy", or "bright and happy to cover up dark feelings", or "flirts as a coping mechanism", among others.
it's partially voice acted! some recognisable names are matthew mercer (as leon), yuri lowenthal (as doug), and wendee lee (as lin fa/venti)!
different dynamics, especially found family! only two pairs of people are actually related, while every other family was formed some other way! it makes for some very heartwarming events. aside from familial dynamics, there's rivalries, a ghost and her familiar, roommates, etc.!
lots of unique dialogue! iirc you can get through over two in-game years without any repeating dialogue! each one has a lot to say and it all feels natural to the character.
it's super fun! it doesn't feel very repetitive, every area has its own secrets and special features to it, making everything fun to explore.
please. i've consumed every bit of fan content there is. i'm desperate for more.

I finished veilguard last night. thoughts under the cut. (also spoilers)
I want to preface this by saying all of this is very subjective and it's just my thoughts and opinions. it's not an actual review of the game, just my impressions while it's still raw in my brain. my opinions might also change over time. this is just what I think several hours after I finished the game. also don't expect this to be coherent or nuanced. I have many feelings and not all of them are good.
let me just say that this is my favourite dragon age game so far. but also the one I am the most critical about. I would summarise it like this: there are bits of it where it's so good. it's so good that it's better than any video game I have ever played. the writing and the atmosphere in those cases is incredible and nothing I know of can top it. the problem to me is everything else. I wish that those instances would get to shine out more. the pacing of the game is what I have the most issue with. the beginning drags for so long and it takes a while until it gets going. and then it's over too soon. don't get me wrong, I get it. I get the appeal of having a shorter, more condensed game, where every sidequest matters. and I'm glad they moved on from the fetch quests of inquisition. but I personally feel like they went too far in the opposite extreme.
the game is incredibly linear to the point it's jarring. the fact that I am forced to go through bits of story and writing that are just. dragging on so much and could have been introduced later sucks. I really disliked how long it took to recruit all the companions and that they were tied to the main quest. especially since you can't choose who to recruit first and you get the main story missions forced in between. missions that could have been part of the story later. don't get me wrong. I love that the companion introductory quests are so meaningful and they tie to the main story. I just wish we could choose whom to recruit first. also from the mechanical standpoint, the fact that you get a tank until so much later in the game is just. bad. subjectively bad to me. the lack of agency whom to recruit first just sucks. so much to me. or the fact that it takes so long to get them all. idk. I found myself speeding through the game until I got to the companions I wanted to have in my party so I can explore the game with them. and then it's basically the end of act one. I wish we could get our companions earlier so we have more time with some of them to do the main quest and explore and stuff. I think this is because my fave 3 companions are literally the ones you recruit last, well into 10 hours of the game (and this is me speedrunning). this wouldn't be too much of an issue if the game wasn't overall so short.
it's the shortest dragon age game for me personally, based on the time it took me to complete it. and that makes me so sad. I know I just said I was basically speedrunning act one but this is because the stuff between companion quests just takes too long in the beginning. I am glad that they all get their big introduction quest and some of their stories are very well written though. I think that is why I am disappointed. I absolutely love some of the companions and their stories. it brings me back to dragon age II. I love games that focus on characters and their interactions and the found family trope so much. and veilguard really delivers there. some of the companions were really well written, some not so much, but I like and connect with most of them. it just sucks, personally, that all the companion stuff is locked behind the main quest and how dragging that can be sometimes.
there's just some bits of the game that are so so good. but they are trapped within bits that are so bad to the point it's jarring. and it makes me sad and bitter.
I know I said the game feels too short and linear but the fact that you get all your companions at the end of act one and that the second act is way shorter, and the third act is just the ending (which took me around 5 hours) is just so incredibly disappointing. and I feel like I didn't get to prolong the game much because there's not enough side content. it just makes me sad. what is there is very good though. side quests matter and the zones are less overwhelming. it's just. there's too little of the good stuff and too much of the padding and filler. and it's bad. it hurts. I wish there was more.
I think this is because I might be in the minority. I actually enjoyed the inquisition fetch quests (I know. I'm insane). I'm not saying I wish they were back. I'm glad they aren't. I just miss having more time to explore and run around with companions. I understand why they went away from it and I'm glad that the game is more condensed than inquisition. it just feels like it flashes by in the blink of an eye. and you are there like "oh is that it". I hit the point of no return so fast and remember being like "wait what there's nothing new??". it didn't feel like the satisfying end to a long adventure. it felt like playing a game with a lot of cut content and hasty rewrites.
[ ending spoilers ]
also the ending. I get why they did that I just felt like it took too long. I know that I keep complaining the game is too short and then say things are too long but that's the point. the stuff I adored felt so short compared to the things I personally disliked. I'm also not a fan of the me2 suicide mission choose who survives stuff. so yeah. I get that this just isn't for me. and it's okay.
[ secret ending spoilers ]
and the secret ending (post-credit scene) is just. idk man. I don't really like where the series is going with this. the way they went scorched earth on all the previous games basically means all we did in the past has been for nothing. and the implications that all the major events in the world have been caused by another hidden power from beyond the seas is just. I'm sorry it just grinds my gears. I hope they get more to it but so far it's pretty disappointing. the fact that we are told that the south is basically fallen is just. it's bad. I understand why they decided to make this a closing chapter of this era within the universe but. yeeah. idk man it's too soon and I'm just sad.
I have waited 10 years for this and it has been worth it, don't get me wrong. I'm just sad about the wasted potential. wish there were more of the good stuff and less of the bad but that's just how it is. I think that's why it hurts so much. because the things that are so good make the bad things feel much worse. the main quest. the pacing. the inconsistent writing. it's so jarring. it's still my favourite dragon age game which is such a contradiction. I know. I think that's why I care so much. I really really love some parts of the game. I'm just sad they didn't last longer.

Since I now have two WIP intro post, and my Writeblr intro is only in one of them, I tought about making a new one to pin. So I can link both of my wips and do not have to choose which one to show!
On this blog I will mainly post about my Wips, do tag and ask games, post about worlbuilding, and reblog writing tips. My intro is under the cut!
Who am I
My name is Sam (they/them), I write in English. I love languages and in October I will be starting French and Arab at uni. I started on writeblr a few months ago, and this is my second intro post! (The first one is here)
What genres do I like
I mostly write low fantasy and dystopian, but I also like working on short stories and folk tales. I write a lot of queer characters and disabled characters because I am queer and disabled myself. I write many found families too.
I used to read a lot of everything when I was a kid, now I am in a serious reader's block. I like to read a lot of slice of life and contemporary stories, at times also mystery books, short stories and poetry. My favourite author is Italo Calvino.
Favorite tropes
Enemies to lovers and fake dating for romance. In general I love found families, impulsive character who gets more logical/logical character who goes apeshit!
Some of my works (their own intro post is linked)
Causing and Apocalypse trilogy: about a group of guys who have to save their siblings, and possibly the world. Stage: wrote the first few chapters but needs a bit of rework
Tales of Aontas: (the one I am most active on at the moment): five people get resurrected and given a mission to fulfill, but is that what they really want? It comprehends two books: "The Ship of Undead" and "Blood to the Water". Stage: chapter I. Actually I have a website for this one, it's linked in my bio.
My favorite part of writing
I like worldbuilding and outlining and character planning. I mostly write to get them a story they deserve, I love spending time with my blorboes.
I like being here on tumblr, I have known amazing people, and I hope to know many more! Happy writing to y'all!

VERY curious about ur mouthwashing thoughts but also it’s been a while since ive seen the game so ive gotta rewatch a playthru augh
There’s a couple of reasons as to why I don’t have much interest in the game!!
1. Gameplay
I honestly cannot stand this new trend of horror games that are just the player talking to people, walking around, occasionally finding an object. I dislike this in the game Bad Parenting also. I’m like. Why does this have to be game? There’s no gameplays so what’s the point? I think it would’ve been more enjoyable as a novel or an animated series with the graphics it already has! It would be very striking. So yeah I find the actual gameplay very dull. Also the controls look really wonky from when I watched gameplay of it
2. Characters
I found myself not really caring too deeply about anyone? Like Curly is okay I guess, I like his design and the disability theming but his actual personality is so meh to me. Jimmy has potential but it never really explains why is inferiority complex is so deep so I’m just like ??? Barely any of the characters ever get and of their backstory or family life discussed except for Daisuke and Swansea but even then it’s very little (but those two are my favourite characters and I have very little criticism for them lol. They carried the game). I have so much hatred in my heart for the way they wrote Anya. It just feels so misogynistic to me. Like ofc the only woman on the crew has the rape as backstory + pregnancy plot. I’ve never seen that before /s. I’m just so tired of that being the only plot line women get in horror media. I understand the pregnancy is supposed to parallel with Curly’s disability but it’s still a very tired trope. Also her design is clearly ripped off of Wendy Torrance from The Shining lmao. There’s also a lot of other design elements that are kind of ripped off from Evangelion (the text on screen resembles the the title cards, Curly post accident resembles an Eva, etc.) so I just don’t really care about most of the characters and their relationships except for Daisuke and Swansea, and they don’t get enough screen time anyway lol
3. Plot
Most of the base plot is pretty good and interesting. It’s a solid premise. But I feel as though it’s kind of meandering until you get to the big twists. I was just watching like. When are we getting to the meat of the story. I do like the dual / non linear narrative, that’s always fun. Definitely some enjoyment was lost just bc I saw spoilers online, but I think a game is pretty weak if it’s enjoyment is completely lost because of spoilers, like I replay The Dark Descent all the time even though I know the ending because the story is that strong and the gameplay is fun. That’s where the game kind of suffers because the gameplay is so weak. Also I think the ending was kind of dragged out. I was watching the playthrough and I was just sitting there like. When will this be over. I get it Jimmy is terrible. We do not need five more scenes about this. There are some really fun moments though, like when he eats Curly’s leg or when Swansea mercy kills Daisuke (That’s always a trope I love) Though those are the only scenes I can remember where I was genuinely enjoying the game.
Overall I feel that the game was more style over substance, and a lot of it just wasn’t really my cup of tea when it comes to games. Don’t even get me started on how the fandoms seems to ignore Swansea (an old fat guy) and Daisuke (the only person of colour). Like y’all’s ageism, fatphobia, and racism is really showing guys. I see how y’all favour the white, conventionally attractive characters over these two,
I really wanted to enjoy the game. I really did. But alas. It just wasn’t really my vibe when it comes to horror games and I can be picky so it’s not to say that my opinion is the only correct one, it’s just how I feel. It was mainly the gameplay that I had a problem with, I just can’t get into walking simulator games lol

idk who u are i just found you so tell me about ur drs
omg idk where to even begin with this. writing this has made me realize how little i think about like. SEVERAL drs these days.
First that comes to mind is my MLB DR. its kind of like my “main” one. most developed.
been thinking about it a lot these days on account of my siblings also being obsessed with the show. i have my sights set on this one for the foreseeable future
Main differences are just fixed plot and characterization. I like the concepts but they weren't well executed in the show. (Lila as a concept vs Lila in the show is my roman empire. zero diff) The plot holes and retcons were ATROCIOUS (imo) so I corrected some of those too. Also everyone is the correct age for being in the 10th grade?? what was up with that?? 13??? are you fr??
In that DR I'm an international transfer student from Québec (so I already know some French and wouldn't have to study too hard- SMARTEST thing I will ever script. trust me on this.) and I live with a host family. Flame me all u want but it's the Rossi family. Added bonus of her mom never being home and Lila living a double life so it's nice and quiet.
I've taken up the mantle as the evolution miraculous holder instead of Alix since OBVIOUSLY i want in on the action. Plus I am already familiar with timeline management and the likes so i get to keep doing what I'm good at. PLUSSS Alix wont have to disappear into the depths of time which is good for her (she is so awesome 🫶 and she did NOT deserve that just to patch a plot hole.) also me n her are homies because she’s awesome. but also im friends with like half the class anyways
also hellooo??? RGB trio colours?? its perfect
Also- a classic- MCU DR. are you seeing a pattern here?? superheros man.
which funnily enough i don’t remember following the classic hero archetype?? its a REALLY old script and also back when i had memory issues so like from what i can recall i was kind of like. a secret agent/super spy kind of trope during the agent carter series thing?? and through time shenanigans i made it into the modern age (time shenanigans is something you will notice a lot.)
the script definitely needs some. reworking. and honestly now that ive mentioned it i kinda wanna get on that. this was my favourite dr and like yeah man i see why. im probably gonna hunt for script templates and backstory ideas now…
also really random but on a similar topic to the whole agent thing- 1ƐYTD DR…. censoring that…… tumblr has a really small fandom for that game on here and im NOT risking it. i already get nervous saying words like miraculous. theyre gonna GET ME
but its like a vr puzzle game kinda like james bond or whatever spy movies you can think of. the title is a reference im pretty sure. im a sucker for those and i love the series so i wanna like. shift there for the challenge?? its a trial and error (the error is you dying) kind of thing.
i wanna do speedruns and collect the phantom medals and shit- i actually have a lot of drs where i go just for the challenge. highly recommend checking out the soundtrack tho its so good
sorry i took so long to respond!! i honestly couldnt think of anything for a good while😭

I had no idea they were doing an emergency maintenance and didn't see the notice, so I was kicked out during a series of really good cutscenes.
I was all invested, so it just made me laugh.
The one level 94 twist involving a certain character got me nicely.
They've got something really, really good on the character and thematic level here if they take full advantage of it.
Spoilers for lvl 94 MSQ.
For talking so much about peace and harmony, Wuk has actually never tried to truly reach out and communicate with her more "hated" siblings. Particularly Bakool Ja Ja, but also Zoraal Ja.
And I think this is kind of true for Koana, too.
To me it seems like she keeps moving forward without truly fully emotionally processing what is going on.
And the situation with Wuk having a "real" father is interesting, too.
Gulool Ja Ja is her true dad, after all.
I hope we get at least a little bit more of Hunmu Rruk. It's a interesting complicated situation within the trope of found family.
Because Rruk cared and still "lost" her.
As far as we know, he made peace with it, but I think it's an interesting idea to think about.
And then in the cutscene after everything with Wuk, we get a really good one with Koana with much about the same idea on the macro scale, about leadership and genuinely connecting with people, but that one was the one that was interrupted by the maintenance and I couldn't finish.
And thanks to this bit of substance, I think I can finally properly spell out why some people dislike Lyse so much (outside of those who dislike her because she is a female character).
I think it's because eventhough it's obvious she learns, people don't feel it; it still feels fake to some, unearned to those who dislike her character, not just that she's boring, annoying or one-dimensional or whatever else. (And that's valid!)
I personally liked how her character came together, but struggled to put into words why some might dislike her so fiercely, but I think this is what it is.
And I think this is also how some people feel about Wuk Lamat. The story and even she herself says she has grown and she even acts differently, but some just don't feel that supposed growth or don't see it as genuine. Thus she is "annoying" and "one-dimensional" for some, which leads to this strange vitriol (nevermind her voice actress being a trans woman and Puerto Rican).
And I think this is the potential in Wuk's character so far. She truly, genuinely needs to learn how to slow down, be honest and connect with others, particularly her brothers. And I think this is where the story is heading in regards to her.
If it's not, that's a shame, but I think this could be some of the strongest character material in the entire game if properly developed and leaned on in the writing.
The little flashback Bakool Ja Ja had after the solo duty and how those who were with them treated him was interesting, too.
I can see how people would see all of these characters as one-dimensional rather than mystery boxes because I think some of these elements in their characters are pretty missable, but I've really enjoyed the environments and the cultures themselves, the sense of adventure.
And I'm waiting for the shoe drop and how all of this work on part of the writers comes together.
Or whether it does. It's entirely possible I think it doesn't, but at this point I definitely don't agree with the more extreme takes I've seen. At best they've got something really amazing brewing here, at worst a cute adventure with wonderful locations.
I think so far, especially these zones and music might be my favourites out of all of the expacs, even compared to ShB and EW and some of their amazing tracks and zones.
And I think the gameplay substance itself has been great. Great first two dungeons and first trial. I think it's really good as a game if nothing else.
The Solo Duty in this section was another pretty solid one, too, for example. Not as interesting in gameplay/narrative integration as some of the ShB or EW stuff, but still solid.

Writeblr (Re)Introduction
Hello! After some time of being inactive, here's a small reintroduction from me:) And I also guess that this is the exact aesthetic I aimed for. Finally!
Tumblr media
General info:
(Nick)Name: Axl-ul, but you can address me as Axl^^
Likes: Writing, reading, drawing, crochet, mythologies and folk stories, tea, doggos, cattos, battos (majority of animals that are fluffy)
Stuff I like to listen to: an ENORMOUS range that goes from og dubstep to chillstep to metal to edgy yeehaw dark country (among my fave artists are Bonobo, Nujabes, Burial, Hugo Kant, Sigmun)
Favourite movie: Noroi, The Vanished Empire
Favourite show: Mononoke (2009) it's actually an anime and yes I do consider it a show, Red Dwarf
Favourite book(s): The Witcher saga (Season of Storms was a little bit mid in comparison to the rest, still enjoyed it though), Solomon Kane, The Hobbit, Whiskey, Blood and Silver, The Warlock, Journey to the West (still reading it)
Favourite manga: anything by Junji Ito, Berserk
Favourite games: The Witcher trilogy, DreadOut, Condemned: Criminal Origin, TES V: Skyrim (also slowly getting into Oblivion), Sleeping Dogs, Darkwood, anything made by Fromsoftware (a fanboy)
Favourite genres: horror, mystery, (dark) fantasy, comedy
Favourite tropes: animal companion, found family, rivals to best friends
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Writer info:
Genres I write in: horror, mystery, dark fantasy inspired by world mythologies, dark comedy, my wips might have a touch of detective stories to them, too^^
Tropes I use(d): found family, animal companion, rivals to best friends, rivals to friends to lovers (used only once as I don't like romance that much, why it appears in my wips is a looong story), orphaned MC
POV: 3rd person, multiple POVs with main focus on 1 to 3 characters max
I tend to write in quite a flowery language and in poetic prose, but since English isn't my first language it can come across slightly awkward (TL; DR I do plenty of updates and edits to my posted stuff)
My wips are inspired and sometimes directly refer to a certain mythology, such as Slavic (this one is also most widely used as I like to read local legends of Serbia, Russia, the Czech and Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Poland and so on), Chinese, Nordic, Japanese and Indonesian. HOWEVER I love to create my own mythos and so the world is a blend of characters directly based of a mythological figure exploring environement both familiar and completely new to them. (I've always been intruiged by a question what would happen if world mythologies bumped into each other and what would be the consequences of it.)
My own mythos are pretty much eldritch-like oriented with a significant touch of folk horror. I'm not going to lie, I'm a FromSoftware fanboi, I see Bloodborn or Kuon, I'm going feral and so is my inspiration.
There are many occuring themes about substance abuse, addiction, health issues, gore, extreme violence, sexual assault/rape and other strongly 18+ stuff, so I'd appreciate if only 20+ y.o. people (or be at least 18, really) follow this account. In other words - PLENTY OF NSFW THAT'S NOT DIRECTED AND INTENDED FOR MINORS.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WIPs
Not all from my wips have a proper introduction (a.k.a. there's no link for their Tumblr WIP intro). BUT I do plan on doing them, so expect the links to be updated. These are just quick summaries of them.
The Flight of the Western Crane - A dark retelling of Journey to the West where Sun Wukong tries to protect the young Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang while meeting a duo of a stranded Princess of the Great Tiger Kingdom and her foreign advisor Lady Wolf Witch. Their common journey starts out as an innocent one. However, it soon evolves into a dangerous chase where the Monkey King must face the worst of his opponents.
City of False Gods - Hybrid of wuxia, mystery and film noir genres set on a fabricated island near Hong Kong. The fiction evolves around the Monkey King who's, after his yet another imprisonment, woken up to a strange world of 1920s where his powers are under a radar by the local supernatural cop unit and is forced to live among the poorest while trying to solve strange happenings in the city. City of False Gods also serves as a sequel to The Flight of the Western Crane.
Empire of Dust - Historical dark fantasy with horror elements set in 330 Constantinople. The story follows two little sisters one of whom is considered neither dead nor alive. One day, Ulfrika sets out for a strange task in order to provide for her dear little sister. Her pure-hearted intention, though, may lead her down the rabbit hole which may devour her sanity.
Ratpeople - An outline idea for a standalone story involving Ulfrika and her time in the Wild West, where the soulless hybrid discovers an eerie town in the desert while chasing after a man who stole one of her horses. The story is related to weird western (mostly its horror and fantasy elements and no sci-fi stuff) and mystery genres and also mythology related things.
Boy Who Chased a Dragon - Another outline story outside the universe of The Legends of No-man's Land. The story takes place on an island of eternal summer and flower bloom, where mythical creatures live peacefully. One day, Dado* loses his pet dragon, a creature his sister gave him for his 8th birthday, in a harsh storm. Now, he sets out for a long journey to retrieve his best friend from the claws of the cruel Ember King.
*because this is still in a process of an outline/1st draft, I'm still not sure about the name, it's only a working name for the protagonist

🍄, 🦴, and 🧩 for the writers ask game
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
(i have so many headcanons about every dynamic ever, and they all conveniently vanish the moment i am asked to name one, ha.)
hmm....for Perimedes and Elpenor from Epic the Musical, i have a headcanon that they're in a qpr. and yeah, i know that's modern terminology and they are from ancient greece. (i did a research paper about qprs once, fun fact.) but also: a. you don't need a modern explanation of a concept for that concept to exist in a historical context. b. Perimedes uses the word "yeet" in his cut song, rendering any arguments about historical accuracy invalid. c. i'm having fun and no one can stop me. :)
i also think the idea of Perimedes sometimes calling Elpenor "El" is cute. <3
🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
oh, there's a lot. my writing in general is inspired by a lot of media. but my venture into the world of ao3 in the first place was because of this series:
and, if i remember correctly, it really inspired me to start getting more into fic writing. it probably also influenced the way i write, since i read it at around the time i was kind of figuring all that out. incredibly good series! <3
as for specific fics, i have so many playlists for inspiration. one of the fics i'm currently working on was completely inspired by the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. (it's a Parallels fic still in my drafts, but if i ever finish it, it's gonna have so much found family trope and it's gonna be great)
oh, and my most recent fic, this one:
you know what inspired it? i was on pinterest, and i saw this photo of eggs:
Tumblr media
and i got kinda emotional about how much i liked that photo. idk, i was already in a vaguely-sentimental-fic-writer mood, and that photo somehow just opened the floodgates of ideas in my head. the actual fic is only vaguely related to the photo through the fact that both involve cooking eggs, but nevertheless, some photographer out there is directly responsible for the existence of my current most comforting oneshot for me to reread. and i think that's really neat. i love humanity and art and connection and inspiration. <3
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
okay, so i tried to think of a new answer to this question, but i couldn't think of one, so i'll just copy-paste my answer from three days ago:
okay, with every answer i try to think of for this one, i immediately think of exceptions. because i have a long track record of being in microscopically small fandoms, and if one of those fandoms got a new fic, there is very, very little that would stop me from reading it to the end. i guess if the entire fic was untagged, very explicit smut, then i would click away immediately. (although most authors i've seen do tag well. so i would probably know without clicking that it's something i won't be really comfortable reading. everyone say thank you for the tag system <3)
yeah, i never really have an interesting answer for this one, ha. i have exactly 2 authors muted on ao3. one was because they had hundreds of fics in many fandom tags that i searched a lot, all of which were exclusively a specific trope that made me really uncomfortable. the other one, i don't remember; no works are showing on the account anymore, but it was probably a similar situation if i felt the need to mute them. other than that, i haven't really been let down by the tag system yet, which i guess is a pretty good thing. :)
thanks for the ask!! :)

for the writing asks thing
12, a trope im into rn
im into a lot rn, but mainly found family (which is a big part of my newer fic)
27, favourite part of writing
coming up with new ways to further the plot and also the realisation that ive filled plot holes with actual stuff !!!
28, least favourite part
filling in the gaps between dialogue with action 😭 that shit makes me flounder so damn hard you have no clue. there's also how i flow from one scene to the next, ive gotten miles better at it though, so it's not much a problem now.
