CENTAURWORLD HERD AS HUMANS!! (Horse is above cut, everyone else is below.)
Tumblr media
all of the characters I've seen (and correct me if im wrong on this) kimiko glenn voice are japanese, so I thought it wouldn't be too far fetched to interpret horse as japanese
Tumblr media
I don't know why but Wammawink was definitely the hardest to catch the "essence" of, she still doesn't feel entirely like wammawink but i love this one regardless
Tumblr media
since you can't really get rid of her portal tummy since it's important to her character, I thought it would be funny to just give her a GIANT backpack
Tumblr media
I had original "concept art" for these designs, zulius is the only one who didn't change at ALL all the others changed in some way
Tumblr media
I had a different original drawing for this one which was SO. UGLY. and it almost got posted, but eventually i just couldn't stand it and i redrew it.
Tumblr media
this one took me the longest because i could NOT figure out what shoes to give him and I could NOT figure out how to draw his head in the new artstyle i was testing.
P.S. This is my first time drawing someone with dwarfism so constructive criticism and tips are appreciated!! I apologize if I did anything wrong, and make sure to tell me if I did.

First of all, I would like to both welcome and thank everyone here who came from Tiktok! You are all so lovely and I am kissing you on the forehead <3
Second, I recently got a new art display tablet, so I can now draw more comfortably and efficiently. Hopefully this means faster art for both me and you (^w^)
Third, I'm kinda thinking about incorporating a bit of a manga style, especially for future comics. I just think it loos cool. That, and because I started reading Chainsaw Man and I like the artstyle.
On that note, I used my tablet to test drawing in that coloring style somewhat. There's both my usual style and the manga style
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really like how the manga look came out. Could use some work, but we'll get there :)
As for who that character is...
.
.
.
shh ;)
(Also, for those who may be new to Tumblr here, likes are very much appreciated, but reblogs are how posts, and especially art, gets spread. If you like what you see, consider hitting the reblog button so that Tumblr not only shows it to other people, but shows you more of that type of content. <3)

Still rather new to animations. This one is more so a test if I like the style im going with. I come from a more anime style background (as you can tell lul), so the Professor Layton artstyle is a bit alien to me and I thought I'd change it to make it easier for me. In the end I think he looks a bit too young?
Anyway more to come.
If anyone is interested, this were 23 frames ( ´ ▿ ` )
Could have done it smarter but oh well..
Bg was quickly taken from the confrontation in the cafe(?) where Clive is outed. No idea if its that accurate, just wanted something quick and easy because I'm lazy and hate backgrounds..

Yes, I can't draw backgrounds well.
Tumblr media
This is the first drawing in which I drew the background myself, so it was a bit difficult for me. But I think it didn't turn out that bad if you don't look at the uneven parts. I drew this picture not so long ago, you could say that it was a test of my new artstyle.
I used to have a different artstyle and I'm glad I decided to change it.
Poor little boy...

AAAAAAA!!! I love your art sm <333 I was wondering what brushes you use (I love seeing the small details)
Hey there! Thank you so much for sending in an ask, it means a lot <3 I'm glad you enjoy my art :)
Included below the break are links to my brushes, and some other brushpacks that I've found especially useful.
A few people have asked me for my brushes, so here's a link to a google drive folder with the 12 main brushes I use for painting + sketching. The brushes are calibrated for Procreate — there are a few tutorials online about how to convert them to other programs, but since I don't have any programs to test how they work, I didn't wanna upload any wonky files for you all.
I've collected these brushes over the course of a few years, all from free downloads. However, if you own one of these brushes and it was distributed without pay, please let me know and I'll adjust my files
Below is a sample of each of the brushes along with a brief desc of what I use them for — it might help y'all match things up if you're converting files to different programs:
Tumblr media
Here is the link to that folder.
Additionally, a brushpack that is just FULL of wonderful textures + basics for all artstyles is @/twulfs' free collection of Procreate brushes (link here). It's a MASSIVE collection, and probably has more brushes than you'll ever need — but sometimes we all just need a new wonky brush to break artblock or find inspiration, or paint that specific texture. A few of the brushes I use are also in that pack.
Also, pretty widely known brush creator, but Devin Elle Kurtz has a lot of gorgeous packs :D I only use one of hers (the Very Basic Rake), which is from a whole collection of beautiful rake textures — that is here. Highly recommend checking out her other files too :)
Hope that helps. Do let me know if the Google Drive link is breaking lolol.

I had heard the OT1 was a little disjointed, is the second really that much better ? I do like jrpgs and the bits of music I've heard from the series + the artstyle of the game had been tempting me for a while ! I really have very little idea of exactly what I'm getting into and any advice on why go for the second game before the first is welcome :)
I don’t know how much you already know about Octopath, but the basic gist of the games is this:
Both games feature 8 travelers, each one with their own story and goal. You have to pick one at the start (your protagonist) and then start your journey across the continent to pick up the rest of the cast. The gameplay is your standard JRPG goodness, explore dungeons, random encounters you defeat to level up, though boss battles that make you feel amazing when you finally beat them, you know it.
It manages to put it's own spin on the turn based mechanic battle style with the break and boost system. Which is actually one of the best battle systems in any jrpg if you ask me.
Break - Every Enemy has a certain amount of shield points and specific weapon/elemental weaknesses. If you attack them with one of their weaknesses, their shield point lowers by one, and once it reaches 0, they're broken. That means they won't be able to act for the next turn, and every damage done to them will be critical.
Boost - Every character has not only HP (Health Points) and SP (Special Points), but also BP (Boost Points). A character can have maximal five BP at a time, and using them powers up your attacks to do the real big and hard hitting damage. It takes 3 BP to max out an attack, and unlike SP and HP it replenishes itself (one BP per round)
This already adds like 3 new layers to the battle system. Figuring out when to use your BP or when it's the best time to break an enemy can be quite tough, especially during boss fights where your understanding of these skills is put to the test.
OT2 adds latent powers to the mix, special abilities that differ from Traveler to Traveler. They're neat but just a little bonus for battles, and don't mix up the game too much.
OK, enough talking about game mechanics, back to the main appeal, the characters and story.
The thing is that the biggest criticism I hear about the games is that the cast may consist of 8 different travelers, but that the characters themselves don’t really interact with each other. The only thing you got in the first game was the travel banter, short little sequences in the middle of stories that featured two (or more) travelers talking to each other for a bit. And those are completely optional and can be skipped entirely.
Also, the different stories are completely separate from each other and only really come kinda together at the very end of the game. OT2 has the same problems, but besides the travel banter it also added „crossed-paths“ chapters, little side stories where two travelers would get a spotlight and interact with each other even more than just in the travel banter. The culmination of everyone’s stories is also done way better in II as well.
But in the end, yeah, the problem with disjointed feeling stories and characters is still there. But, if you ask me, filling in the gaps yourself and imagining how the characters would interact with each other is half the fun of the games. Playing dolls with them is an important aspect of the Octopath meta game.
Oh, and besides that, OT2 allows itself much more freedom with the way it tells the travelers story’s. In OT1, every character got 4 chapters, with every chapter having one dungeon with a boss at the end. But OT2 throws all that out of the window. There are chapters with dungeons but no bosses. Chapters with bosses but no dungeons. Chapters without boss or dungeon. Differing paths. Side Stories.
Damn. I can yap about these games a lot, huh? I know it seemed like I talked a lot of shit about OT1 here, but I still like it a lot, and it remains a really solid game. It's just that OT2 took an already good game and made it fantastic.

any tips on how to learn to draw heads and facial expressions? i see some of your old drawings have some flaws (such as small upper or back part of head) but newer ones look perfect to me. did you do any specific exercises to learn or follow any guides? i am really bad at this so no answer is obvious and any advice is appreciated
Hi anon! I suppose my "old drawings" are the ones I have here on tumblr? Those are from 2016-18 more or less, the digital ones I did very uncomfortably with my finger on a small iPad, so they're like. Worse than my average. But either way I'm not sure I understood what you meant - I think I've always done the same kind of head shape (small upper/back head), so I wouldn't know what to tell you about it;;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also grew up kind of obsessed with Ancient Greek sculptures (and Greek-adjacent, aka Roman copies, Renaissance, Neoclassicism, etc), so my proportions are directly based on their canon. I think it might help you feel more comfortable with drawing faces/heads, but keep in mind it is just for that - getting used to it. You don't have to use these proportions forever, and real life people more often than not do not follow them. This is pretty eurocentric AND mathematically idealized, so it really won't apply to everyone, but you can still throw (guide)lines and adapt them to your needs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is more or less the way I draw faces and where I position things (like the eye, the ear, the end of the hairline or the front part of the neck). Again, you don't need to follow these. You can try to learn them, if you want, but it works the same way if you do so from real people. You can ignore things you don't feel as interested by, or draw them in a way that you like more (for instance I don't really draw the double chin a real person would have, I just do the bone jawline and the neck directly attached to it, if that makes sense). You could even pick your favorite person (or character) ever and draw their face/proportions until you're comfortable enough to try different things!
I've been talking about profiles because I think I don't have that much "structure" with front faces? As in, at most I think I'm only taking into consideration where to put the eyes in relation to the nose or viceversa, but you can try to do turnarounds like this and see what works best for you or just to test yourself
Tumblr media
(Lined notebooks are pretty useful for this...) Either way if you want me to be more specific about front faces, lmk and I'll try
Anyways, I think these should work out regardless of what your artstyle might be. By this I mean you could use, idk, Shin-Chan or Rick & Morty (or whatever else) to get the author's way of doing proportions. It's easier with 2D animation shows because they already need to do character sheets with them for the animators to draw characters consistently, but any other media should work just fine
If despite going through all of it you still feel you lack structure, then I'd suggest to learn some basic anatomy. You're lucky enough to currently be in an era with thousands of tutorials with thousands of artists, old and new, and styles that you can find for free. Honestly I don't personally own that sort of books, or if I do they're rather advanced compared to what your question is, so I could only suggest you some youtubers if you really wanted me to, but then you might already know them
As per how to draw expressions, I think my previous examples already show I've never been one to differ a lot from the lack of it, but I think this one depends more on the artstyle you want to achieve - I'd say it's way easier to clearly show an emotion with less realistic styles, as it allows you to exaggerate things more. Thus, I'm not sure what to tell you about this either. Keep things simple for now, try to recognize the way faces distort when they're smiling and compare them to when they're pissed off (or any other emotion you're interested in), look for the most basic guidelines/shapes from that, try to apply them to your drawings
I do struggle with certain things when conveying expressions or doing certain body parts, so I try to have a reference (or several) for them. This is normal. I'm not Kim Jung Gi, after all. So don't feel disappointed if you find yourself needing 10 different pictures or drawings of the same thing by different people. It's okay. Expressions are difficult. Bodies move in weird ways. Don't be hard on yourself, and have as much fun as possible
