Now, what i find interesting is that, if switching to a house that was a "rival" to the house you were initially in is viewed in a bad light by the students, then does that mean they make the same comments about tohma too???

Tohma was originally in vagastrom, but then switched to frostheim, but now we find out that these two houses had issues during the clash, so wouldn't that mean tohma also "switched sides"??

Or maybe he switched houses before the clash?? before any of that mess happened?? maybe thats why the frostheim students see him as the person who stepped up and took care of jin when that other friend haku disgraced himself and left him?? so thats why theres no shady comments being said about tohma at all and his changing houses situation.

Ambition Theorizing

So the Weighing of Souls examines the ambition you have in your head when you touch the mannequin and assigns you a house. Obscuary isn't assigned that way--Obscuary is assigned based on deemed absence of humanity while being a ghoul--but every other house is. Starting from your second year you can change houses but your first year you're stuck wherever the Weighing placed you.

Hyde gives a small general overview of the values of each house which kind of gives you a hint at what the nature of the ambitions could be.

So here's some ideas of mine for what everyone's ambitions are, and what the general ambition of each house is. (Haru and Rui are briefly mentioned at the end included due to their original houses not being stated. Yuri is under both Frostheim and Mortkranken due to speculation.)

I'm curious about what you all think as well, if you have thoughts of your own regarding the general ambition of each house and the ghouls in them! And where you place your OCs and self inserts based on their ambitions lol

Frostheim - Success By Any Means Necessary

Jin - revenge for his mother. The power to overcome or escape his father and perhaps gain some control over his own life.

Kaito - to be somebody and make something of himself. Popularity, companionship, never being alone.

Lucas - to subjugate demons and get his twin back. To protect his loved ones at any cost.

Haku - control over his own life and future. The ability to escape his family and their pressure?

Yuri - success and acclaim. Influence within the field of anomalous medicine. There's something to do with his mother as well, although we aren't sure what yet.

Vagastrom - Ideals, Reform, Innovation

Alan - reform for himself. The opportunity to protect others, rather than harm others like he had once done. He can't live without regret, but maybe he can make up for his past instead.

Tohma - change for the world or the Institue or Darkwick? Tohma seems to be focused on preparing Jin to inherit his father's position as President of the Institute and make changes that will better Darkwick and the Institute. However we don't know to what end he wants to see things change or for what purpose--but we know he wants to make some sort of difference and is presently using Jin and Darkwick and whoever else he can for that.

Leo - hostile reform, for an ideal world. The opportunity to make the people who make life suck suffer and pay for doing so, so he can live without struggle.

Shohei - an ideal world? Sho's ambition is hard to pin down, but it seems like he'll use others to get ahead--but also be used in turn. Sho strikes me as someone who values freedom and wants to go where he wants and do what he wants, able to pursue whatever interest or whim strikes his fancy without restraint.

Jabberwock - Trust, Care, Loyalty

Towa - to love and be loved in turn. Perhaps to find his soulmate. I would say 'to protect those weaker than him' but learning that love is what changed him and he was once more cruel than he is now makes me question is he would have an ambition like that when he got there. In fact, I suspect that love wasn't his ambition at all(though he still loved romance and soulmates and the like, he just wasn't driven by love) when he arrived, but until we have hints that he was, in fact, not in Jabberwock from the start, I'll leave him here.

Ren - to find somewhere he can feel safe and valued despite how he is. To find people he can trust.

Sinostra - Power, Coming Out On Top

Taiga - strength and power. To be unstoppable. In the past, Taiga was one of the most successful ghouls as far as missions and anomaly capture and such went, but eventually he pivoted to just destruction. He no longer seems to care about the outcomes that he used to--although who knows how that'll change when Sinostra's probation gets lifted, with the Laurel Crown on the line, since he does seem interested in profit.

Romeo - replacing what he's lost. Regaining wealth and maintaining what's his. Building up something and keeping that. Once upon a time Romeo's family lost everything. He won't let that happen again and he won't let anyone destroy what he's built.

Ritsu - gaining the Laurel Crown. Acquisition of clients that will skyrocket his career and put him on top as a lawyer. Victory.

Hotarubi - Individuality, Creativity

Subaru - the opportunity to find himself. Freedom from the judgement of others. While I'm sure he loves acting, he has been doing it since he was four years old. The eyes on him make him afraid of their opinions and he feels like he has to live to meet others' expectations. But he'd like to be able to find out what he wants to do, if not be given the opportunity to live how he wants to.

Zenji - the opportunity to make masterpieces. Finding inspiration.

Mortkranken - Knowledge, Intelligence

Yuri - mastery of anomalous medicine. To be able to back up his talk with actual genius.

Jiro - understanding his illness? Learning more about anomalies in general? Jiro's ambition is hard to pin down due to his poor memory and general indifference towards most things. However between that he said he woke up with knowledge of anomalous infectious disease one day and just decided to keep studying it, and that his response to hearing about the anomaly that cursed the PC was that he would study every inch of it if it were in front of him suggests that he's interested in learning things and studying anomalies a great deal. His max affinity line is that your curse may be related to his field of study so your death would be inconvenient. Despite how impassive he is, he is passionate about study, so it seems like it would be a fitting ambition for him--he came to school, he wants to study.

Dionysia - Freedom, Happiness, Embracing Life

Dionysus is the god of wine and festivity, among other things. I imagine Dionysia's general ambition is "live life to the fullest." I think Rui was from here before he was cursed and transferred to Obscuary.

Clementia - Mercy, Salvation, Peace

Clementia is the goddess of clemency, mercy, forgiveness, salvation, etc. The house is in a cathedral and they historically would perform exorcisms. I imagine their general ambitions are protecting others and keeping the peace with anomalies, keeping balance in the world. I speculate that Haru was here before he transferred to Jabberwock when it was dissolved, as Haru expresses the desire to protect the lives of the people and anomalies in Jabberwock and regrets being unable to save anyone or anything dear to him when chosen in the pre-prologue. He also says Calamari and its mother should be allowed to escape, lest the balance of nature in the ocean be disrupted, suggesting that maintaining the balance is something he prioritizes.

Ultio - Judgement, Structure, Law

Ultio is a goddess of vengeance and revenge. The house of Ultio housed a prison for anomalies deemed too dangerous for human exposure, which Darkwick took over themselves when Ultio was dissolved. I imagine the general ambition of the house is control of anomalies and power over others in a more "lawful" way than Sinostra exhibits. I headcanon that Towa was in Ultio due to his historic hostility/indifference towards the small and weak and his existing tendency to bully anomalies, as well as their tendency to obey and fear him. I imagine, if Ultio were still around, Ritsu could have been sorted into it if his ambitions leaned towards law and order over his own power, influence, and victory. However Ritsu, as a defense attorney, could have also been placed into Clementia if his desires leaned towards granting clemency to the guilty if you use similar logic. . . .

If not for Obscuary, I imagine Lyca would have been assigned Jabberwock or Clementia due to his desire to live peacefully with humans, and Ed would have been assigned Dionysia due to his relaxed nature, or maybe even Ultio as an inversion of his belief that humans will lose their dominance as a species and have to submit to anomalies someday.)

But, yeah! Those are my speculations. What do you all think.

Stuff from Campus Events/Voicelines, so my Blog isn't just Tokyo Debunker Screenshots

Sho is teaching the anomalies in the diner to cook. According to him they are trying to make good food, they just suck at it and never get any better.

Ed, the alleged dorm captain of Obscuary is something of an ipad baby. Rui says he is worried his tablet is making him dumber and wonders if he should take it away.

Leo regularly calls MC over to Vagastrom so he can spy on Tohma and Alan. He has a lot of campus events about this, including one where he lets Alan know that's exactly what he's doing because he's upset that he can't hear through the car anymore.

In both the main story and various campus events, Jin mentions his room has anomalous sound proofing. Leo does not know that, but he assumes that Tohma is the one who applied the sound proofing to the car.

Leo also thinks Tohma and Alan have more than one "hook up" spot, including one he thinks is in the woods around campus.

Not that this is news, but Romeo has annoying abbreviation nicknames for almost everyone. He calls Professor Nicholas SOP (smiley old prude). Nicholas appears to make all sorts of things and not just medicine as Romeo is attempting to get some skin cream from him.

Everyone other than MC really does seem to hate Zenji's singing. There's an event where Towa gets really fed up with him because of it and just. Angrily leaves him in the Jabberwock caverns... if I'm interpreting the event right.

More Shoposting... he has a line about how he used to go snorkeling in Okinawa a lot and that he really likes it. How cute c:

Jin is not a morning person.

He also is not above using his warping artifact to get out of conversations he does not want to be a part of.

Jiro and Yuri stay up for days on end tending to injuries. Jiro seems to have been a bit sheltered? As he was under the impression this was normal until MC mentions that it's not. According to him, Mortranken is the only workplace he has ever known.

Rui... I'm not sure what to make of him? His bio says he's a flirt and popular with the girls on campus... a lot of that flirting seems to end with "Hey visit me at the bar." Except for one campus event where he pleas with MC to see his efforts to get to know her and hear out her problems as earnest and says if she doesn't want to come to the bar she can come to his room instead (ﾟωﾟ；)

TKDB Boys as Lewis Capaldi songs

Putting this out as I warm myself up to starting part two of my Subaru mini fic. Lewis Capaldi is my fav singer at the moment so I'm combining my two hyper fixations :) Some of these make complete sense (objectively) and others make complete sense TO ME (subjectively) and some I'm completely lying through my teeth and just wanted to assign a song to be done with it. I'll let y'all know which is which and my explanations for them + the lyrics that I feel best go with them. Most of these we have to pretend the boys are romantic and melancholic cause that's the only way this'll work. The easiest were Towa and Subaru, I feel like they're the embodiment of the two faces of Lewis's songs (pining for love and having imposter syndrome lol). The hardest were Tohma and Ritsu but I'll try my best to explain.

I only had a bit of a hard time assigning Jin's because I felt like his and Romeo's could kinda go to either or. But in the end, this one made the most sense for Jin. It makes me think about what his family life could be like and it's a good contrast with the fire themes being an obstacle for the Ice King. The start of this song also mentions being useless and full of excuses which makes me think of how he's viewed from an outsider's perspective since Tohma clearly does all the work.

Tohma - Don’t Get Me Wrong

GODDDD it was so hard assigning Tohma a song. Mostly because I just can't gauge him? I don't think I understand him all that well but I still tried. Anyways from what little we know about his past and how he most likely was Vagastrom turned Frostheim but still having relatively good relations with Vagastrom, something tells me that he switched houses because of some hidden ambition of his. He seems to be very driven and determined, like he wouldn't let external factors come between him and his goals. Like the song suggests, he doesn't settle for second best and hopes you understand.

Luca - Pointless

“From all my airs and graces to the little things I do, everything is pointless without you. Of all the dreams I’m chasing there’s only one I’d choose. Everything is pointless without you.”

What a sweet boy. This was one of the first ones I assigned in my head, mostly because he's a perfect little gentleman. He has goals and ambitions like Tohma but in my head there's nothing he wouldn't do for a loved one. Later in the song the lyrics go "I'll wait for you, I'll wait for you. You'll wait for me, too." And idk it just feels like him? Tell me I'm wrong.

Kaito - The Ancient Art of Always Fucking Up

“The story goes now he’s the kind of fool who breaks his heart as often as the moon shows its face to you. And I regret to say politely, I’m the guy who’ll more than likely lose like I always do.”

Boyfailure at it's finest. This entire song is his, I was thisss close to typing it all out. A master of the ancient art of always fucking up, Kaito seems to be prone to self-sabotaging both with love and finances. Give this song a listen, I promise it'll make sense.

Vagastrom 

Alan - Someone I Could Die For

Can you tell I love him? Call him Bruno Mars the way he'd catch a grenade for you. Or in this case, take a bullet to the brain for you. He's got that tough-looking exterior and he doesn't really feel he deserves love or to be that close to anybody but something tells me he yearns for it. Out of all of Vagastrom he's the only one looking for that someone to be vulnerable with but he's obviously not gonna show it.

Sho - Let it Roll

“And if you want to stay lost a while, I’ll rearrange the road I take and meet you out in the wild. And if you want we can wait behind. We can find a place to hide, maybe I could change your mind.”

Look I love Sho, okay. Sho, I love you. Listen Sho, I love you. You hang out with Leo which means you have the emotional depth of a walnut. I wasn't going to give him a song that was that deep because it just didn't make sense. He just seems like someone you could take a ride with and completely forget your troubles. He's unfortunately here for a good time, not a long time.

Leo - Forget Me

Lol, no he doesn't hate that he made you cry. He's actually collecting your tears in a bottle. But he really would rather you keep him on your mind even if it's pure hatred than have you forget him. That's probably his number one fear: being forgotten. He wants all of your attention and he doesn't care how it comes.

Jabberwock

Haru - Someone You Loved

Haru was also a bit of a tossup for me. This is mostly carried by the desire to heal someone. It really feels like he just needs someone on his corner FOR ONCE IN HIS LIFE. Someone PLEASE help him escape some of his responsibilities or at least take some off his shoulders.

Towa - Before You Go/Haven’t You Ever Been in Love Before

Like I said in the intro, Towa's vibes make up half of all Lewis Capaldi songs. He's the free spirit, he's the guy that believes in soulmates. I gave him two because I couldn't decide which one fit him better. He's really looking to take away all your troubles so lean on him as much as you like. For the second part I was imagining a conversation with him under the tree going like this. He'll hear you rant about how this curse has sullied all thoughts of love for you and hearing this breaks his heart a little because he feels you deserve love.

Ren - Bruises 

“There must be something in the water, cause everyday it’s getting colder. And if only I could hold you, you’d keep my head from going under.”

This one's short because it's Ren, hello! He's so emotionally stunted, there really wasn't much to go off of. Chose something with water in it cause haha funny. Honestly though if he DID find a way to express emotion, he would probably hold the metaphor of drowning and you being his lifesaver close to his heart. I actually love him so I had to try at least a little bit for him.

At first, I was conflicted on finding a song for Taiga for obvious reasons but then I remembered this specific part of this song and it made me think of some theories of Taiga freshly post-clash realizing that his mental state was deteriorating and then I got sad :,) Y'all are really geniuses with these theories by the way, I love it. Keep the hurt coming for me PLEASE.

Romeo - Burning

Like I said, Jin and Romeo really could've gone either way. Their family situations to me feel vaguely similar but this one felt like it spoke more to Romeo. He is, as Taiga calls him, a greedy bastard. He's experienced what it's like losing everything and now he's desperately trying to hold on to what he has like his life depends on it and he's really not about to let anyone stop him. He's not really caring or empathetic to your situation however much he fakes otherwise and he's not about to risk his livelihood to save you, I'm sorry.

Ritsu - Grace

“On the verge of almost bleeding you out. Are we too wounded now to ever come down? Oh, how I long for us to find common ground. I’ve got nothing but you on my mind.”

This was the hardest one BY FAR. I kinda don't have an explanation because even though I said "let's pretend they're romantics," he's really just, not? And he's not melancholic either so have some crumbs lol.

Hotarubi

Subaru - Maybe/The Pretender

Again, two songs because he's the second half of all Lewis songs. Did someone say imposter syndrome? He's an actor, what do you expect. The first one could have also gone to Rui but I feel it's more fitting for Subaru. He's a little too self-conscious about his stigma and he holds out on personal relationships because of it.

Haku - Love the Hell Out of You

Lock me up and throw away the key, he knows how to get the best out of me ~ HAKUUUU my love. This one was a no-brainer, I mean come on. He and Rui are peak romantics. He was the first one to help you and by god, he'll be the last. I have no other words. Live, laugh, love, Haku.

Zenji - Heavenly Kind of State of Mind

I'm sorry but this one was FUNNYYYY to me. You know, cause he's, y'know...anyways. This whole song feels like how he talks and how he would probably sing it too. Even from the start, "it's almost cruel, the blue in your eyes. The kind of blasphemy that makes a congregation cry." TELL ME THAT'S NOT SOMETHING HE'D SAY. It's almost as eccentric as he is and there really was no better option for him.

Obscuary 

Ed - Forever

Hahaha pain. Can you imagine Ed living through a bunch of lovers and outliving them all? At some point he'd stop caring but he'd really have to tell you not to expect much from him. He probably avoids becoming attached to anyone anymore.

HAHAHAHA PAIN PAIN PAIN OH IT HURTS SO GOOD. I thought of two things for this one. 1) Idk but I headcannon that whoever this Neros person is, he's either dead or he wants nothing to do with Lyca. Either way I can imagine their time together before Lyca was imprisoned and him not understanding why Neros is leaving him. 2) His time with Subaru before he actually trusted him. He fully believed Subaru was sent to kill him and he felt kind of conflicted opening up to someone who would probably be his downfall. But then he warms up to Subaru and instead of thinking "when is he gonna kill me" it's "when is he coming back" whenever the lulls between Subaru's visits become too lengthy. This one really hit too close to home :,)

Okay hear me out. So before the Mortkranken episode, I really did not like Yuri. After it though? AND after Episode 8?? Bro really is overworked and does he get the respect he deserves? Not a lick. I also headcannon that his medical ambitions stem from his possible experiences with loss in his personal life and now he's really just determined to be the best doctor there ever was. Sure, he's got some arrogance going for him but I mean it's kind of warranted when your talents aren't truly recognized. It's kinda necessary or else he's gonna lose his shit. No harm keeping his ego in check from time-to-time though.

Jiro - Rush

Do I even have to explain this one? Pre-clash to post-clash Jiro is most likely a completely different person. I can imagine him having some remnants of memories from his past of who he was and who he left behind but still not quite fully understanding what this emptiness is and if it was always there.

I said crucial because what else is more important than YOUR LIFE when you're facing the one and only grumpy cop of Vagastrom—Maia Hasegawa. Unless you're into being handcuffed like that because #ALLKINKSMATTERS and #CONSENTISKEY so I will not judge <3

Let's start with knowing where your stand based on how she calls you. IF she calls you by your last of first name, your life is safe. At least around 80% to 99%. You can trust me on that. Some exceptions being Mickey and Mr. Hart. She hates them both haha~

But the second she use dog terms on you... you better think carefully about what you'll say and how you'll act. IF she calls you pup, you're still pretty safe. It means she's looking down on you and barely thinks of you as a threat. She uses this on Vagastrom general students and also those Ultio back then. It's her way of calling you junior and uhhhh prettymuch lesser being than her—Now that I mention it, she calls my minions as pups too... Well, she's not wrong. They're still my (hopefully) loyal dogs.

Now we're getting to the fun part—the most special nickname from her of all time!

"Mutt"

Oh boy the second she marked you with THAT you better start counting your days as a citizen with clean police record because the thing she's good at other than being dangerously sexy and gorgeous and deadly an—oh shit I lost track where was I... Right!

She's good at sniffing your past wrongdoings. When she does it to you, just consider yourself dead at that point 🥰

The wrong things you don't remember doing, she will know. She will find out. Don't believe me? Ask Vagastrom's vice captain 🥰

And sometimes she gives special nickname to people. For example like "Three-eyed Creep" for Mister Tohma and "Bastard" for Romeo. In which if I reveal the reason behind them she will not return my text and I don't want that :<

I have a memory span of a goldfish so I probably forget if someone has written about something related to this topic or not... but excluding Taiga who directly mentioned the topic to us, why does it seem that only Tohma and Alan are the only ones shown so far to know/talk about the existence of the spy and actively searching for them? I can only theorize that they were only being made aware of the spy's existence because something happened in Vagastrom that was caused by an unknown party and it probably directly/indirectly worsen the situation during The Clash... but it still made me curious why they were never seen communicating with ghouls from other houses about the spy even in subtle/discreet manner (either because they don't want to alert the spy or still aren't sure where the spy came from...?) and why none of the other ghouls seem to notice the oddity/draw their own conclusion and do their own investigation? (unless it is just... never being shown yet to us on-screen so we're left to believe that only Tohma and Alan and Taiga are the ones who know about the spy hjhdjdjdjdjdjfkl)

There's also this question about what makes Tohma and Alan trust each other/believe that neither of them are the spy himself... but I'm not ready to (over)think about this question so I will just believe that being a Vagastrom and (probably) forging their friendship through fistfights has created unbreakable bonds between them that can't easily be destroyed by mere existence of an unknown enemy 💪

So far we haven't seen anybody else talking about the spy, no! To be fair we haven't really found out who they would be spying for. . .they're trying to defame the ghouls as a whole but they're one of the ghouls themselves. . .to be fair we've only seen so many conversations between the ghouls without the PC present--and most of them seem concerned about their personal lives and missions more than any sort of greater plans.

It makes sense for Tohma--he has big plans that involve changing the Institute. Of course he's aware of the spy. And Alan is someone he probably trusts more than anyone. Alan is blunt and honest and straightforward--he couldn't run an operation intended to damage the reputations of the ghouls or be a spy or anything, he's just not built for it as a person--which also means he's vulnerable, I think. So he needs him to be aware for his own safety. And like you said, for characters like them I think a bond forged with bare fists is a bond that can't be broken lmao. He can trust Alan not to talk, even if he can't trust him not to let on that he knows something. But also Alan's reputation is already a mess. The likelihood that the spy would get too close to him feels slim to none to me. Just. Too big and obvious of a guy overall.

Taiga has his possibly stigma related Awareness--so if he just. . .knows, that also makes sense. He even says "do you wanna know who it is or keep letting them fool you" which tells me that he already knows and he's just not telling. He doesn't have to look for the spy, he's waiting to see what happens. He's looking out for himself and Romeo. Maybe the pc and Ritsu now too.

Also I feel like Tohma's interactions with Haku and Rui are supposed to be implicit of the spy situation, especially when Leo says someone(most likely Alan and Tohma?) are meeting near the "gross forest"(Obscuary, probably.) and there's Rui who can obscure himself in the shadows and admits to keeping an eye on people. . . .

But I assume that Tohma doesn't trust others with it at the moment, not until he knows for sure who the spy is. And everyone else is far too busy running their houses and living their lives to notice whatever Tohma and Alan noticed(or they simply don't question it or they accept it because 'whatever, our reputations sre bad anyway, how much more damage could someone else do?' or 'we're graduating soon anyway' for the third years, and they're probably not nearly as reliable in Tohma's eyes? I mean think about who all the other second and third years and captains and vice captains are. Not really the most trustworthy bunch with a delicate situation, especially if it's possible that they could be connected to the spy.

I imagine we'll learn more whenever we get back to Vagastrom or Frostheim!! But I think the spy situation is gonna have to be addressed closer to learning about the Clash. And I feel like we haven't quite gotten there with everyone yet, so we're a ways off.

On the other hand, Ed has a home screen line to the effect of "the ghouls are rioting again? They're so energetic. Anyway i was watching a youtube video." and next chapter is Obscuary so. . . . . . . . . . .

Just finished the Jabberwock chapter.... there's so many questions (and possible theories) but rn I just wanted to talk about how Hyde mentioned the ghouls who were worried about MC - for Vagastrom, in jpn he specifically says "a certain someone from Vagastrom" rather than "one or two" and I'm willing to bet it's definitely Sho, since Hyde is the one mentioning it, and soon after he says he wasn't supposed to say that, I can imagine Sho giving him the stink eye to not let anyone know about it lol. Also right after this I got a campus event where Sho almost runs over MC on his bike because she wasn't looking where she was going while watching out for some croc anomalies(?) and he gets mad (worried) telling her what's the point if she's dead and points out where she has to keep an eye out on. I love him Your Honor....

We don't know too much about Hyde yet, but from that last conversation I wonder if having his own younger brother be a ghoul contributed in his empathy towards them ("in the end they're just young boys on the inside") or if he always felt that way. I wonder why exactly he wants humans and anomalies to get along, because while the idea itself might sound nice and peaceful, at the same time it sounds like something a villain with "good intentions" would say too lol. Hyde final boss?

Also rip MC who has to deal with Taiga next chapter lol. After fun times with the Jabberwock kids it's back to treading on thin ice (or glass shards in this case)

Hyde vs Crowley, who is more likely to be a final boss. My money is on Crowley but Hyde do be looking like Gojo and we all know how my girl felt about the school board.

I swear we must have the same game anon because I literally had just read that school moment before you sent this ask. MC is trying to be aware of zipper crocs, which as a side note: each of the boys cards has a corresponding warding card of the same rarity. The higher rarity warding cards seem to be based off of moments in the story or aspects unique to the character while the SR and R cards are based off anomalous creatures. You get the corresponding SR warding card for your first boy in that joke of a pull they have you do in the tutorial, and the Zipper Croc is Tohma's.

The way Sho speaks to her in that moment (╥﹏╥) the way he's so concerned. Angry even that she's not taking care of herself, because "what good will that excuse be if you die?" I love him so much. And because of that I keep thinking about how guilty he has got to feel about almost letting her die in Book 2. You think he wakes up in the middle of the night to stare at his ceiling because he's thinking about how her mangled body would look staring up at him in judgement if he had just gone along with Leo's plan a little bit more than he did? Do you think that he's eventually going to snap if he keeps hearing Leo talk about MC like she's expendable because the longer he spends time with her the more real she becomes to him? You ever think about Sho looking at her while she's occupied with something else and not paying attention to him and realizing that his time with her has a very real time limit and that she's going to die in a year, however much of which has already passed?

You ever think about an MC who maybe jokes off offhandedly about helping him out now since she won't always be around and him loosing it just a bit because he doesn't want to even think about that even a little. Because I have been oh have I been

I wasn't expecting to like Hyde as much as I do. Don't get me wrong he seems extremely irresponsible, but he clearly loves his brother and his students, which makes him at least ok in my book. If I had to guess I would say Sho being a ghoul probably does have something to do with him being more understanding of the ghouls and their predicament. He has a unique insight into it that the other professors don't, but it could also be that he wants anomalies and humans to get along because through his own research he's seen how important anomalous creatures like the Kraken are to the world and he wants people to have a more respectful attitude towards that. I can't see him doing anything to harm Sho, so if the school ends up being the bad guy I think he'll be our ally.

Well not physically harm anyway... Oooooooh "a certain someone from Vagastrom" that was so fucking Sho. And Hyde so said that to be cheeky about it because he thinks it's cute that his little brother has got a little crush ¬‿¬ no it's ok Shohei, big brother won't tell! He pinky swears! Hyde would be such an annoyingly supportive wing man for his little brother if he'd just let him, if Sho has any classes he shares with the MC he so ends up assigned to a group with her on "accident" more than once. It makes a degree of sense too, I think Alan probably would trust that everything is all right and if it's note he will hear about it, if not from the school than from Tohma. Leo probably thought the whole thing was MC's fault anyway but Sho? He had to be so worried about MC and feel so trapped. It's not like he was going to get permission from Alan to go looking for her, and with Leo being Leo it's not like he really had anyone to turn to about his worries but Hyde, who was definitely supposed to be sworn to secrecy.

I am actually more worried about Romeo and Ritsu at this point than Taiga. Like don't get me wrong, that boy ain't right but I can handle someone being a bit homicidal.

Ritsu is easily the cuntiest out of the freshmen about MC at the intro ceremony and Romeo is willing to take MC in for the bounty dead or alive. I feel like this whole book is a bit of a trip, MC about to be kidnapped by a mob boss fr

THERE WAS A CONVO BETWEEN HAKU AND TOHMA IN THE NEW CHAPTER THAT HAD ME SO HSKFHSKJF… do you know anything about their history with like chats or…. Tohma was really defensive over Jin too dyt that has anything to do with haku potentially being jin’s old “dear friend”

Sadly the only things avaliable about their history are things we've seen in the campus chat between them(Tohma clearly doesn't trust Haku, but Haku doesn't seem to feel as hostile towards him), in the story, and that Haku used to be in Frostheim(Tohma's response to that Haku treats Hotarubi business like it's his business despite not having had been placed their initially kind of suggests some irritation or bemusement--or maybe doubt?) You probably know everything I know at this point!

Haku was my candidate for Jin's ex-friend but I'm thinking it's Yuri now. Yuri actually adds up a lot more--but I'll save that for another post.

I don't think Tohma was defensive over Jin at all lmao we all know how irritated Tohma gets with Jin--and that Jin gets irritated with Tohma in turn, especially for being fake--so I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic about how he's not a babysitter, he's very happy serving Jin, it's such an honor. Meanwhile Haku, former Frostheimer as he is, knows what a handful Jin can be and knows that with Tohma's temperament he's absolutely a glorified babysitter, even if he's getting what he wants out of the situation and he's adjusted to everything.

One thing I will note is that Leo said Tohma was in Vagastrom until the middle of last year. Meanwhile, about half a year prior to the PC's arrival(in early September, so March-ish the current year, not the previous year) is when Jin stopped leaving his room.

Zenji, who wasn't aware of that the Gala was cancelled after he died, is aware that Tohma works for Jin. And he got quiet when they mentioned that Yuri has problems with Jin. Which means Tohma probably replaced Jin's partner before the Clash, not after. (That or Zenji knows because he goes with Haku a lot of places and just so happened to figure it out. . .also Zenji knows about Yuri because Yuri is Jiro's caretaker of course.)

Haku was also said to have 'switched sides' by a Vagastrom student. That probably means he was on Frostheim's side during the Clash, not Hotarubi's.

Haku most likely was in Frostheim alongside Tohma, before and during The Clash, not before Tohma arrived. Haku was a second year by then, he wouldn't have had needed Tohma's help to transfer if he wanted out.

We don't know what exactly their relationship was then though. We know their current relationship is tense, and hopefully we'll learn what their deal is someday!!!

I MEAN IT'S NOTHING MORE THAN LAYERS UPON LAYERS OF SPECULATION. Can't really call it reading him when I'm not sure it's accurate just. . .it adds up, if the existing ideas(shapeshifter Hake and seer Taiga) are true. If the former especially is wrong then it's all a little less believable. The Hotarubi chapter is the only one that basically didn't center on their mission at all. It just stands out as comparatively peaceful so far. And yeah Hotarubi are supposed to be the most peaceful ones, sure, model students and all that, but surely there'd be something if everywhere else had some sort of problem? I guess if we really think about it Vagastrom was also peaceful--but, again, they introduced the spy issue in the first place.

As for Haku being the like doves. . .maybe? I feel like if Haku was the like dove in Vagastrom he would've been outside, not in the garage. He wouldn't be able to hear shit from in there. Then again, he'd definitely know about the soundproofing in the car, so maybe he was spying on the first years. He could have been the Jabberwock like dove too, but I feel like that's less likely since maybe he decided Ren wasn't worth investigating.

Yeah, you'd think Haku would want more backup and that that'd make it easier for him to convince them if he really wanted to help. . .instead he seemed really annoyed that you had a legitimately good reason you should go along, one he ultimately couldn't refute.

Also if he's supposed to be so good with that camera(tbf he's normally recording an invisible subject) and he was basically right in front of you, why's the video so shitty? Maybe it's because I have a large phone but surely it should be obvious who's who in the video if he wanted the video to be good proof?

I'm really curious as to what his undeniable proof is. Because he might just rat out Subaru and tell the pc it was a necessary sacrifice for Lyca's freedom.

And yeah I thought Subaru may have been lying too, out of sympathy. On the other hand, Subaru immediately destroyed the attacking anomaly without a second thought, so he may not have much sympathy for needlessly violent anomalies. Then again he was surprised he just destroyed it too.

But even if Lyca was a threat in the past I don't think he's a threat right now, especially the way Rui describes him.

As for Jin losing control in Frostheim. . .even without his powers as a ghoul his father is still the president of the Japan branch of the Institute and the Cabinet Secretary of Japan. While it would definitely lower his credibility, he wouldn't lose it completely. He'd still be the bigshot here, even if he weren't a ghoul. Yes, it'd cause a whole slew of problems but I don't think that's what Haku ended up revealing since nobody knows it's going on but Tohma. Part of me suspects it had something to do with Jin's mother since, as a medium, Haku can see and communicate with spirits and she's implied to be dead.

And in Japanese it says something like that it seems like Tohma was planned as Haku's successor, and they speculate that Tohma's the reason Haku went to Hotarubi, yeah. As for why Hotarubi, maybe because he couldn't go to Clementia(who did exorcisms and thus could be a better fit) or just because the traditional vibe fits his shinto priest origin even though he didn't fit the house otherwise? Maybe because he knew about Lyca and he wanted to be near that for later use? Maybe because Subaru was struggling alone and he could use experienced support? Or maybe he chose Hotarubi after seeing Zenji's ghost around, thinking he could be of use.

But yeah, he could either appear there or stay away since he wouldn't want Lyca to recognize his scent. He also mentions that it's within Darkwick's interests to make use of Lyca--so he might come around not as a like dove but as himself because 1) Moby doesn't go to Hotarubi or Obscuary and makes them come to the main building on business, so he might be there in Moby's place 2) Darkwick trusts him and wants him to check in on them now and again?

And yeah making it obvious isn't a bad thing it just feels like there wasn't much lead up i guess? Of course even if we know who we don't know why or really for whom or to what end he's the spy. And until we know that potentially knowing who it is isn't really the end of things.

I don't think he'll end up being a demon--maybe an anomaly(and maybe the real Haku is elsewhere or something happened to him or he's been possessed this whole time or something) but ultimately the question is why he would want to help Darkwick when he himself admits to having had been punished by them and such. Unless it's going to be a triple cross thing where he's doing all of this to hopefully be caught so the ghouls will collectively turn against Darkwick. And maybe the only other person who knows is Tohma and they're waiting for the right moment to turn all of this around on everyone or something. . . .

Also I thought the whisper of the new moon thing was about the pc, not the ghouls personally. Like they interpret it to be about "the birth of a new ghoul", but the Kudan says a very singular champion. It's not about a new champion. Just the champion. And Cornelius says they still need to research the prophecy--which means the given interpretation isn't necessarily right. They're just going off of what they have at the moment. But if prophecy research is somewhat urgent that suggests they know the prophecy as they explain it right now isn't necessarily correct.

If the day the ghouls were enrolled was in fact a new moon then the pc was brought to Darkwick and given the sage ring on the day of the new moon. And the tragedy will be prevented as long as they stay at Darkwick long term. However if they die to the curse or are allowed to leave for an extended period of time, something bad will happen. Presumably.

If Haku is somehow aware of this or perhaps suspects the pc is the real champion, then he needs to keep the pc alive. But he also needs to give them a reason to stay--so the ghouls need to continue to have problems in need of resolving. On the other hand if they've been tracking down the spy since before the pc arrived, that's not entirely relevant--so perhaps if this relates to the prophecy, he wants to keep the ghouls trapped in Darkwick to ward off the tragedy the alleged champions need to be on the island to ward off.
