You know it's very sad that s*lki fans really desperate or blind with they ship, I meant everytime loki and Sylvie in one fram even they not look romantic at all they will like "aww look at them they in love". I was like šŸ˜‘
Seriously, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Not care even look likely they in fight each other. Oh just record in trailer fro season 2 there's no romance chemistry at all, Sylvie look loki, she like cold and disgust with loki.
Also in trailer when they about holding hands Sylvie said "don't overthinking about it" , that sounds like she in love with him *sarcasm*
I just miss real cheesy romance chemistry rather than what s*lki fans keep showing.
But honestly if this bad they give loki 'love interest ' I rather choose that him not having any romance at all, and not care if he with man or woman.
Listen, I won't gatekeep people can like whatever ship they want and they are not wrong perse, but man do I just not see what they're seeing. Because, yeah. Sylvie just does not seem even want to be in the same room with Loki. For me personally I can't get over the fact that it has been a day and this is the person Loki going to fawn over? He's never been in love for real but now this person who can't spare a single kind word and again known for not even an entire day is love. Lame, not into. No thank you.
I go back and watch Thor2011 and the The Dark World and it honestly really sad in hindsight just how unnecessary harsh people were on Thor+Jane. Because sure it's really fast as well but at least they enjoy each other's company. The fact that there is actually attraction between the two is so much more than anything on Loki

I don't like Sy*ki or S*lvie. I don't find either one important enough to obsess about.
But I also don't mock people for liking either one.
Do I understand it ? No, and I never will. And if I feel like talking about *why* I dislike them, I will. My feelings are justified on MY BLOG.
But...I ain't sending death threats or reposting and mocking them, etc.
Live and let live, whatever.
I think people on the internet should be able to take the dislike of fictional characters or couples. If you can't, stay off the internet. *shrug*.
My issues come into people on both sides attacking Owen and Sofia on a personal level. You can say "Sofia said something dumb in an interview" and that's NOT horrible.
But saying Owen doesn't care about Marvel because his lips aren't kissing their butts, and he has an actual life and career outside Marvel, or he's a bad father ( just TODAY, Sy*lkis at it again on X). Or that Sophia is this or that...it's unhinged. Like, these people were like " Lokius don't know the REAL Owen".
You insane cretin, neither do YOU. Judging that man over internet gossip. I mean, be shallow and talk about his funny nose. Show your lack of taste and dissing his movies. Talk about how he say "umm and uhhh" in every interview. But leave that man's personal life ALONE.
So many of them make me physically sick. NGL. I realize many are literally children, but still. Just...it's a TV SHOW.
Tom Hiddleston may pull the wings off flies when no one is watching. You don't know. And it's none of your business if he does.
Saying all that to say, when I post about *Syl** or Sy*&ylvie, it's usually because I am fuming over what the fictional characters did. But yeah when I read things like what I saw about Owen, it *does* tempt me to post a new list of why Sylv*e sucks.
And yet...I'm still keeping it to the character. Which is perfectly fine.
i hate the fact i donā€™t feel i can immerse myself fully in the loki fandom knowing thereā€™s ship wars (which Iā€™m sorry is ridiculous btw, let people like what they like without being assholes about it, they arenā€™t hurting anyone), because itā€™s so full of hate and animosityā€¦
which is ironic considering the whole show is about the main character realising he can be and do better lmao

Every Single Issue I Have With S*lki (Itā€™s Not Just The Selfcest)
Here goes. I threatened to post this a few days ago and never did, but I just saw a s*lki stan Twitter account claim that Loki caring about Sylvie more than the whole multiverse was a Good And Romantic thing and it pushed me over the fucking edge, so now you all have to read this. Iā€™ve divided it into categories cause thereā€™s just THAT much.
OOC Bullshit
ā€¢ First and foremost, no amount of mental gymnastics you do will ever make me believe that this specific Loki- the one that just invaded New York, that just came off a year of Thanos Torture, that just got done being influenced by the sceptre, that was literally in the middle of a crisis already, and then on top of that went through all the trauma of Ep 1- would even be worried about a romantic relationship. That would be the furthest thing from his mind. Go back and watch how he acted in Avengers- you think that guy would abandon his previous mission to become a snivelling simp for a girl heā€™d just met 3 days prior? Yeah, thereā€™s no universe in which that makes sense.
ā€¢ ā€œItā€™s very in character for Loki to fall in love with himself lololol-ā€œ NO, itā€™s literally not. Out of all the characters in the mcu, I donā€™t think I can think of anyone that genuinely hates themselves more than Loki. He even referred to all his other male variants as ā€œmonstersā€ and said meeting them was ā€œa nightmareā€ in this series. Heā€™s got so much self-loathing, plus the fact that he genuinely thinks himself to be an evil backstabbing scourge- so thereā€™s no evidence at all suggesting that he would ever develop a fondness for, or even be inclined to trust, another version of himself, after only knowing them for 3 days.
ā€¢ Building on that, the whole concept of Loki falling in love with a version of himself just feeds into the annoying ass misconception that heā€™s a narcissist. No matter which way you stack it, heā€™s not. If youā€™re referring to NPD, he doesnā€™t fit the criteria, and if youā€™re saying ā€œnarcissistā€ just as a slang term meaning ā€œselfish and arrogantā€, that still doesnā€™t accurately describe him. But when creators like Waldron and Herron do things like having him fall in love with himself, it makes it so much easier for casual viewers to think that he is.
Shitty LGBT Rep
ā€¢ Itā€™s kinda sus that Lokiā€™s are allegedly genderfluid and yet the only female-presenting variant we see (and apparently the only female-presenting variant there is, cause the male Lokiā€™s all seemed unfamiliar with the concept) is treated as some kind of mind-bogglingly special paradox. Also very sus that, out of all the Loki variants, the one our Loki falls in love with just so happens to be the only female one. What a coincidence.
ā€¢ The fact that the creators of the show went around bragging about Lokiā€™s bisexuality and Marvel purposefully (lbr) allowed stories about Loki possibly having a male love interest to circulate, specifically enticing queer viewers to watch the show (you know, the definition of queerbaiting), and then instead of having a male love interest (Loki was the first queer main character, so it was the perfect opportunity) they gave us *gestures to this dumpster fire* thisā€¦ itā€™s just a middle finger to LGBT fans. The fact that they would rather have this relationship with all its myriad of problems than have a gay relationship is justā€¦ā€¦. Very telling.
ā€¢ While him being with a woman obviously doesnā€™t refute his bisexuality, the fact that they showed/talked about him being interested in 3 different women (flight attendant, Sylvie, Sif) and never even hinted at him being attracted to a man, definitely makes it seem like they were trying to cover up his bisexuality to smooth things over with the more homophobic viewers. You know? Itā€™s like ā€œI know youā€™re pissed that we sorta confirmed Loki as bi, so we promise weā€™ll never mention it again! Or even hint at it! As a matter of fact, weā€™ll give him lots of female lovies and make him seem as straight as possible! Thatā€™ll take your mind off of that horrible crumb of queer rep, right? Please please please keep giving us your money!!!ā€
ā€¢ Aside from all the other issues, at its core, the biggest reason why I think Iā€™m so irritated with s*lki is that it took one of the most interesting, complex, and diverse characters in cinema atm and squished him into a tired ass unnecessary heteronormative subplotā€¦. Like literally every. single. other. protagonist. ever. Loki is such a unique character, and itā€™s so so so incredibly disappointing that they stuck him into that same boring cookie cutter romance that happens to every other character in every other movie Iā€™ve ever seen. Itā€™s a disservice, and itā€™s honestly just not compelling or entertaining at all.
Thematic Issues Galore
ā€¢ His arc didnā€™t need a romance. With anyone. It was unnecessary and it didnā€™t make sense plot-wise. In fact, one of the reasons he was my fav prior to this was because he was the only big-name mcu character whose story wasnā€™t muddied-up by a romance that didnā€™t need to be there. So much for that.
ā€¢ He wasnā€™t emotionally ready for a romantic relationship with anyone. Hell, just a genuine friendship wouldā€™ve been pushing it for him at this point. He was in such a bad state that any relationship he got into wouldā€™ve been toxic and unhealthy for both him and the other person, and it doesnā€™t make sense why the writers would want to put him in one when there were so many cons and essentially no pros (other than ā€œUwu arenā€™t they cute togetherā€).
ā€¢ Sylvieā€™s character in general was unnecessary and Lokiā€™s character was robbed just by her being there. The whole show became about her post-Ep 2. They spent most of the time giving her backstory, building her up, telling us how awesome she is, trying to convince us to like her, etc when what they really needed to be doing was building Loki up- cause I gotta say, if I had to describe TVA!Loki in a few words, they would be Flat, Boring, and Weak.
ā€¢ The romance overtakes the plot. They spend time portraying their supposed connection that couldā€™ve been spent adding depth and complexity to literally any of the characters. They make the big Nexus Event them giving each other googly eyes on Lamentis when it couldā€™ve been so many other way more profound things that speak to the fundamental nature of Lokiā€™s. They have the climax of the finale be ā€œoh no she betrayed him to kill He Who Remainsā€ when it couldā€™ve been something way more compelling (Loki having a moral crisis over whether or not to kill HWR, Loki contemplating the state of the multiverse and weighing the pros and cons of freedom vs order, Loki looking into some What If situations and getting emotional about what couldā€™ve been regarding his family, Loki realising the gravity of HWRā€™s offer and finally coming to terms with how important he is to the universal cycle, etc etc). The entire plot suffered in favour of a romance that half of us didnā€™t even want.
ā€¢ It essentially reduced all of Lokiā€™s potential character growth down to ā€œHe did it for his crush.ā€ He seemed to at least have some motivations of his own in Ep 1-2 (feeble as they were) but after Sylvie showed up in Ep 3, literally every action he took was just him being a simp for her. Why did he lie in the interrogation? To try to protect Sylvie. Why did he fight the minutemen and Timekeepers? To survive kinda, but mostly cause it was important to Sylvie. Why did he get pruned? Cause he got distracted trying to confess his crush to Sylvie. Why did he try to get out of The Void? Cause he thought Sylvie needed him. Why did he stay in The Void? Cause Sylvie was staying. Why did he try to enchant Alioth? Cause Sylvie told him to. Why did the multiverse get cracked open, leading to an infinite number of Kangs waging war on all of existence? Cause Loki didnā€™t wanna hurt Sylvie in their fight at the Citadel and then get distracted by her kissing him. Itā€™s uninteresting and honestly pretty embarrassing.
ā€¢ Throughout their ā€œrelationship arcā€ the writers do their absolute damndest to convince us that we should like Sylvie more than Loki. And you know what? Itā€™s the most hypocritical shit Iā€™ve ever seen. They preach and preach about how Sylvieā€™s life has been so difficult/we should feel bad for her/she had it so bad/poor poor sylvie/she had it SO much worse than pampered prince Lokiā€¦. But then they never even touch on any of Lokiā€™s trauma of hardships (the ones that have been ignored for literally 3 movies now). They frame Sylvie as a good person and a Freedom Fighter after she spent literal decades/centuries mass-murdering brainwashed TVA agents and showing exactly zero remorse for itā€¦.. but then they make it their mission to constantly remind us that Loki is a terrible person and constantly put him in situations where heā€™s forced to acknowledge his wrongdoings/show remorse/admit to how ā€œevilā€ he is for being a mass murderer for like 2 years. They show him on-screen having a wider range of powers than her, and perpetuate his whole shtick of being a ā€œmaster manipulatorā€ or whateverā€¦.. But then they make Sylvie ā€œthe brawnā€ more competent, intelligent, and physically capable than him. Tell me how itā€™s a good thing for a ship to be so narratively biased toward one character.
Missed Opportunities
ā€¢ If they absolutely had to have a romance subplot, then they couldā€™ve paired Loki with one of the characters that have already been established OR one of the characters that were a big part of the whole TVA storyline anyway. It wouldā€™ve been so interesting if theyā€™d revealed that Loki had a history with some of the players from previous films (Sif and Fandral both come to mind). It also wouldā€™ve been really interesting if theyā€™d given Loki a love interest that actually had some allegiance to the TVA as a whole (Mobius maybe, but not necessarily. It also couldā€™ve been Renslayer or B-15). Hell, imo it wouldā€™ve been cool if theyā€™d followed through with that ā€œSee you again somedayā€ line that he said to the flight attendant in Ep 1. ALL of these characters have way more chemistry with him than Sylvie, and they were also already relevant to the plot without wasting half the show to give background info on them.
ā€¢ If they absolutely had to have a hetero-presenting love story involving an enchantress-type figure, then thereā€™s a whole Enchantress (Amora) that was actually Lokiā€™s love interest in the comics. Plus, fans have been screaming for Amora to appear in the mcu for years. Plus, Tom literally pitched an Amora/Loki storyline way back in 2012-13. Also, Lorelei (another enchantress) is also one of Lokiā€™s love interests in the comics, and she already exists in the mcu (she was on Agents of SHIELD). There were several different established characters for them to choose from. Creating a whole knew amalgamation of a character and going with the ā€œsheā€™s a Loki variantā€ storyline was just completely unnecessary and made no sense.
ā€¢ They completely robbed us of a Chaos Twins dynamic. Had they handled Sylvie better and not forced her and Loki to smooch, the two of them couldā€™ve had a really really complex and interesting sibling relationship. Loki couldā€™ve stepped into Thorā€™s shoes and sort of used that new role to gain some self importance, and Sylvie couldā€™ve finally had somebody to look out for her/teach her magic/be there for her. It wouldā€™ve been very aesthetically pleasing, the vibes wouldā€™ve been out of this world, it wouldā€™ve been way more profound than this bs, and frankly it wouldā€™ve been much more entertaining to watch.
ā€¢ Lokiā€™s relationship (read: obsession) with Sylvie completely overshadows all Lokiā€™s other relationships in the show. Loki and Mobius were literally the focal point of the series in Ep 1-2, but after Sylvie showed up in Ep 3, they barely had any interactions with each other, and Mobius pretty much faded to the background entirely. Loki had the beginnings of a pretty interesting antagonistic relationship with Renslayer (with her wanting him pruned, then arguing with Mobius that he couldnā€™t be trusted), but after Sylvie showed up the dynamic shifted to focus on the history between her and Ravonna. Loki and B-15 started off very badly and openly disliked each other throughout Ep 1-2, and then in the end of Ep 2, Loki showed a little bit of concern for her when she was possessed, hinting that they might be inching toward a reconciliation- especially considering how obvious it was that Loki was gonna uncover the TVAā€™s sins eventually. There was so much potential for him to be the one to give her her memories back and convince her to change sides, but no, of course that honor went to Sylvie. In fact, after Sylvie showed up, Loki and B-15 never even spoke to each other again.
Various S*lki Fails
ā€¢ If they were trying to convince us that this affection was mutual, they completely failed. Thereā€™s nothing Iā€™ve seen that even hints at Sylvie feeling the same way about Loki that he does about her. At most, Iā€™d say she has a slight endearment to him. She finds him likeable and sheā€™s grudgingly fond of him, but she definitely isnā€™t in love with the guy. Maybe she thinks heā€™s cute and hopes that he gets out of this mess alright, but her mission obviously comes before him- whereas, itā€™s been confirmed multiple times that Loki cares about her above anything else. She doesnā€™t trust him, she looks at him like heā€™s an incompetent fool half the time, she shows little to no reaction during most of his confession moments, and she kissed him as a means to distract him so that she could get him out of her way. Look, all Iā€™m saying is, when you get into a relationship where one of you is way more invested than the other, it never ends well.
ā€¢ This goes without saying for a lot of us, but the selfcest is just straight up odd and cringey. If youā€™re cool with that sort of thing, fine! People can ship what they want! But donā€™t pretend itā€™s not at least a little bit uncomfortable. Yes, I know theyā€™re not technically siblings so itā€™s not technically incest, and theyā€™re also not technically the exact same person, but theyā€™re similar enough that it makes things weird. And yes I know selfcest canā€™t happen in real life, so thereā€™s no way to judge it morally, but neither can most of the other stuff that happens in these shows/movies (the Snap, Loki destroying jotunheim, superhero with powers being held accountable, mind control) and yet we still find ways to judge their morality, because they all mirror real-world events. (The snap= genocide; Loki destroying Jotunheim= bombing other countries; superhero accountability= weapons accountability; mind control= grooming and coercion). And lbr the closest real-world mirror to two versions of the same person (who may or may not share DNA, family, backgrounds, physical and emotion characteristics) being romantically involved with one another is incest. And you can be ok with that if you want- thatā€™s your prerogative- but donā€™t get pissy just cause a lot of us are squicked out by it.
ā€¢ The whole mirror metaphor (learning self love via each other) thing just fell completely flat. First of all, having Loki learn to love himself by looking at someone who mirrors him did not, in any way shape or form, require them to be romantically involved. But they were. Of course. Secondly, the creators have contradicted themselves so many times on whether Loki and Sylvie are the same or not, that it doesnā€™t even really register to the viewer that the mirroring thing was what they were going for. Finally, Loki and Sylvie are shown to have so little in common- and to have only the most bare minimum of similarities personality-wise- that it doesnā€™t even make sense that Loki would ā€œlearn to love himself through loving herā€. Like? Theyā€™re nothing alike. So how would he make the connection that he himself is actually pretty cool, based on her alone? Thereā€™s virtually nothing in her that reflects him.
ā€¢ I know the objective of the entire show was to convince us of how awesome and unique Sylvie is, but honestly her relationship with Loki just did the opposite. A hallmark of a Mary Sue is having her constantly upstage the male lead, and then having him instantly fall madly in love with her anyway. And thatā€™s.. exactly what happened here. Everything theyā€™re doing to try to force her character to be more stan-able is really just forcing her to look more like their self-insert OC. Which is exactly what she is. It wouldā€™ve been so much more satisfying if she didnā€™t have to try so hard to look cool, if they didnā€™t have to try so hard to make her backstory tear-inducing, if they didnā€™t have to turn our protagonist into a snivelling simp just to prove how incredible she supposedly is. Very much #GirlBoss energy and we all know how performative and cheap that is.
ā€¢ The entire thing was too rushed, there was too little build-up, and it was nowhere near believable. As stated above, itā€™s ridiculously unlikely that Loki would canonically even be interested in Sylvie, and this show did nothing to explain why he was. He just suddenly was. There was nothing they showed us as viewers that would justify a guy as closed-off and preoccupied as Loki falling head-over-heels for a girl he just met. Their was no explanation, no big revelation, no reasoning, it justā€¦ kinda happened. And Iā€™m also severely skeptical of any love story that has the characters go in this deep after only 3 45-minute episodes of exposition.
Iā€™m sure thereā€™s other stuff, so if anyone thinks of anything, let me know and Iā€™ll be more than happy to add it. Tagging @janetsnakehole02 @raifenlf @natures-marvel and @brightredsunset800 for expressing interest. This is all your faults.

Just for fun, are there any circumstances under which you might have actually shipped S-lki? I'm not a fan of it either but sometimes when I have a NOtp I try to make it over in my mind until its palatable lol
Unpopular opinion, but actually yes, because I enjoyed Sylvie and I honestly loved her dynamic with Loki in the moments where he wasn't acting weird and lovestruck and, her, uncomfortable lmao. I liked when they were arguing, exchanging quips, when Sylvie would call Loki out on something and he wouldn't be able to argue with it bc he knows she's right (and I wish there could've been more of it from Loki's side too towards her, fair dos and all that).
The problem for me is mostly two-fold:
- Yes, as far as we can tell they are the same being, share the same family members and are for all intents and purposes more or less twins (not quite, but that's about as close as one can get to a real life comparison and it's mostly true). Again, this alone didn't necessarily have to be a dealbreaker for me, but I don't like that it's never really addressed? Yes, Mobius acknowledges it as strange and maybe even toxic in Loki's last interrogation, but I feel like we're being led to believe this isn't a reliable take to have on the relationship because Mobius is feeling angry and betrayed and speaking from a place of hurt. Like yall, even Jamie and Cersei are known to have debated the strangeness of their dynamic back and forth. There were real, tangible consequences. Cause like, if you're going to do a plot that is more or less incestuous? Don't be a fucking coward about it. Acknowledge it for what it is instead of pretending that everyone's discomfort with the situation is just contingent on shallow factors (you know this was their attempt to shut up anyone in the audience that had issues lol). OR make her not a Loki variant maybe. She could have easily been Amora for instance and we could've avoided this whole discussion. I'm not even sure why making her 'another Loki' was so necessary tbh, considering there are apparently no female Lokis anyway except for her. Even though Loki is supposed to be genderfluid and chaotic regardless so why on earth WOULDN'T there be more if not QUITE A FEW fem Lokis running around- is anyone else's brain melting yet?
- The other issue for me being the fact that Loki falls so hard, so fast, trusts her so hard, so fast, and reprioritizes everything so that she is first. His ultimate motive and concern is her. Now, short of him being under an enchantment, I find this behavior both an annoying and nonsensical choice for what we know of Loki's character thus far, and establishing the potential of a romance between Sylvie and Loki doesn't necessarily require dumbing Loki down and changing his personality completely or even making Sylvie his first priority after they've known each other a collective 12 hours. Compared to Lokius, we see the slow progression of Loki lowering his walls for Mobius and gradually, piece by piece, falling into a kind of trust with him. We see Loki's eyes start to light up more and more every time Mobius talks or does something and it just seems a lot more organic of a progression to the character we've been watching for the past 10 years. And I mean...even after Lokius' development heavy scenes in ep 1 and 2, Loki ultimately still chooses to go through the portal door and against what he promised Mobius he didn't do. Whether this was justified of him or not is another debate, but I can say that it feels much more naturally 'Loki' to make many missteps in a close relationship first and not necessarily jump right to prioritizing that person above all things after a few cute dates. Because ultimately Loki has trust issues and giving all of himself like that to anyone so quickly, after knowing them such a short time doesn't feel honest. I can't imagine Loki trusting anyone that hard without first having a long period of development in which he fears it and subconsciously tries to sabotage things. GIVE ME CONFLICT.
- I lied, it's three-fold and this one is a lot simpler, because we literally got two episodes of a carefully constructed, slowburn, gentle dismantling of Loki's defensive walls with Lokius, such that really felt like a natural beginning to a close dynamic for a character that has never and probably will never trust easily, and then by the end of ep 3 we're told 'nevermind forget about that, Loki's in love with this person now ok?' and it's just...weird? Why not just focus the entire show on that so we're not having to deal with the whiplash that results from 6 episodes essentially being two different shows entirely? Why not give most of the time to the relationship you've deemed should be most important to Loki? It might have been better! It's like when the person with the stronger presentation goes first and leaves everyone after them to pale in comparison lol. It's strange to, in the same 6-ep length show, give Loki both well-written and forced relationships and expect the audience to find them both equally good. It's also not fair to whatever potential Loki and Sylvie might have ever had tbh.
-But honestly...the relationship was always going to be stronger/better as platonic, considering especially Marvel's history of mashing together any fem-presenting person with any masculine-presenting person that shares screentime with them. There is nothing about them, imo, that begs anything other than frenemies/chaotic twins/gay bestfriends.
That said though, yes, it could have been better and it maybe could have even been something I enjoyed if some simple alternatives had been taken instead.
But this is just my take, as always your mileage may vary

The big questions
The Loki show posed some Big Questions: Where do we come from? What happens at the end of time? What makes a Loki a Loki? Can Loki change? Did Mobius have a jet ski? Will Loki ever get to wear a nifty outfit again?
And then thereā€™s this, from the Loki-meister himself:
ā€œLoki, as a show, has introduced so many complex ideas, and themes, and conversations,ā€ Tom Hiddleston tells Marvel.com. ā€œOne of the things I've been so pleased and thrilled to see with the show is how deeply the audience is engaged with the big ideas, the ideas of fate versus free will, agency versus determinism. Do we have the capacity to genuinely choose our path through our lives? And in those choices, where do we derive meaning? To what extent are any of us free? To what extent are these characters free to choose their route through the universe and self-realize and determine the course of their lives?ā€
source
All of these ā€œso many complex ideasā€ are really just the same idea: Do we have free will, or are we destined to follow some predetermined path? Which isnā€™t even an idea per se, but rather a question. And if the audience did indeed engage in deep discussions around this topic, one might be forgiven for having missed these conversations entirely, overshadowed as they were by the raging debates as to whether S*lki is incest or self-cest, whether Lok*us is a thing, or whether Loki should dump these losers entirely and get some real friends, because frankly both relationships are toxic af.
One might argue that the show doesnā€™t properly ask the question, so much as offer an answer that is as ridiculous as it is unsatisfying: apparently, from 2008 til now, every plot line in the MCU -- every decision, every action -- was dictated by a god-like puppeteer called Kevin Feige He Who Remains and enforced by his brain-washed minions, the bureaucrats of the TVA. The characters had no free will; they were locked into their fates up until the point that HWR stopped controlling the timeline. (Which is not, incidentally, the moment that Sylvie kills him, but a few minutes prior to that, during the long, eerie zoom-in/zoom-out sequence where HWR declares that theyā€™ve crossed the threshold, and appears to be amazed when he drops an object and it, well, drops. The significance of this gesture was completely lost on me.)
The notion that this dude who we just met has been pulling the strings all along, orchestrating every heroic and villainous act, sending the TVA to prune anyone who dared to deviate from their preordained path, begs the question: if the characters had possessed free will, would they have made different choices? Would heroes still be heroes, and villains, villains? Would Tony still have sacrificed himself to save the universe? Would Steve still have gone back to Peggy? Would Odin still have been such a dick? Would Clint Barton have had a personality?Ā
Out here in the real world, the free will vs determinism debate has become the purview of neuroscientists and philosophers of mind. Moreover, the question has been redefined -- itā€™s not particularly relevant to ask whether we are ā€œfreeā€ to choose. Thereā€™s no bogeyman reaching into our brain and tickling our neural circuits to make us do his bidding. In that sense, of course we have free will. Itā€™s more a question of the role that our subconscious and conscious processes play when we make a decision. We feel moreĀ ā€œin controlā€ when we perceive our actions to be volitional. On the other hand, subconscious factors undoubtedly have a (sometimes very strong) influence over us. Yet this doesnā€™t indicate a lack of free will -- the subconscious parts of your brain are, after all, still parts of your brain. Itā€™s allĀ ā€œyou,ā€ whether youā€™re aware of it or not. Itā€™s simply a question of the balance between consciousness and subconsciousness -- an area of active research, in which we have much to learn.Ā
In any case, now that Loki presumably has free will, how will things play out? Will he stay a hero, or fall back into villainy? Will he be trustworthy? Mischievous? Unpredictable? Will he get his snark back? His wit? His good hair from TDW? And most pressing of all: will he choose S*lki, Lok*us, or neither? Stay tuned for season 2!

ngl i dont really hate any popular ships other than s*lki. like most of the time im pretty neutral on ships but that is the ONE ship that i think i genuinely hate bc the people who ship it flip flop on it SO hard..........
like sylvie isnt a loki because shes changed herself and become someone else, but as soon as someone says that loki himself wasnt the star of his own show and that sylvie took over, suddenly sylvies a loki again??????? make up ur minds!!! is she a loki or not!!!! bc news flash, she is, regardless of how much shes "changed" herself!!!! which just means shes kissing herself!!!!! not even to mention in no way home where andrew garfield's peter is like "i've always wanted brothers" to tobey maguire and tom holland's peters????
and THEN people just started shipping it because ep4 took their relationship weird even though i feel as though the general consensus after ep3 was that it was self/familial love or realizing that they werent so different after all adn then in ep6 she didnt kiss him because she liked him!!!! she kissed him to distract him!!!!! so she could shOVE HIM OUT SO SHE COULD KILL KANG!!!!! thats not love thats just a loki being a loki!!!!!!! but like i said, s*lkis cant decide if sylvie is a loki or not so its just,,,, its such a paradoxical ship that just doesnt make sense to me!!!!

hey, i know youā€™re mostly about stucky, but i love you and your blog so much and i was wondering if i could ask you for some advice if thatā€™s alright?? only if youā€™re comfortable with it of course. iā€™m just at such a loss right now because i have this whole loki/reader multi-chapter story outlined thatā€™s supposed to take place during the show and iā€™ve thought about it for a month now, but everything with s*lki makes me so uncomfortable and nauseous. (1/3)
so when i look back at any scene with them in the show, i immediately feel so uncomfortable. even the thought of me writing something under the loki tv tag on here and/or ao3 makes me feel ashamed to even be somehow associated with the ship. i know that thatā€™s how every fandom is of course, but the fact that this ship that makes me so perturbed is more or less canonical right now, itā€™s like my brain wonā€™t let me escape it. (2/3)
now i donā€™t know if i should just give up on the story entirely or convince myself that writing it will bring me comfort that the show ripped away from me and this character i used to love. i was so excited to write this and now iā€™m just so hesitant to do so. iā€™m sorry that this was so long. again, please donā€™t feel like you have to answer this. feel free to ignore me and have a wonderful day šŸ’• (3/3)
Oh, sweetheart, of course I'll answer you šŸ’•šŸ’• I'm by no means an expert on this and I tend to ramble, so do bear with me and I'm sorry if this isn't very helpful!!
(Also - if any other more seasoned fic writers out there reading this have any more/better advice for nonny please do step in and add on, I'm really only a newbie at this game myself!)
First off, I'm really sorry you're feeling like this. It's really shitty that the dumb choices the writers made have tainted something that you and tons of other people love so much. You're absolutely not alone - so many Loki fans have had various problems with the show, and SO SO MANY have hated Sylki. It was an absolutely ridiculous choice to make it canon. I know the Loki and Thor franchises are more of a secondary fandom for me on this blog but I was (still am) very much still so pissed off after the kiss in the last episode, and by a lot of other choices made in the show. (Sometimes I'll pass untagged gifs of them kissing and just... it makes me so uncomfortable.)
Personally, I like to think I've become quite good at quickly severing my ties with any part of canon I don't like because I'm always rewriting canon in my head, but there's always a period of time directly after canon I don't like happens on screen where I'm just annoyed and upset (a mourning period, if you like) where just telling myself "it's only canon if you decide it's canon" just doesn't cut it. I think I'm still feeling that for the Loki show right now, even though I'm not really venting about it that much here.
I don't know whether or not this is something you can relate to, but if you can I think it's worth remembering that it's been very little over a week since the last episode aired (and they've only just released the behind the scenes stuff), so the wounds are still fresh. The choice is whether or not you leave them to heal on their own or try to bandage them up right now.
Ultimately, I can't tell you what to do, they're your wounds after all. All I can say is that I hope you decide to do whatever you think will be best for your mental health. And if it's something that's playing on your mind so much it's making you feel low throughout your day-to-day life, I think that's definitely when you should take a breather and step back from trying to create something for a little while. If visiting your plans/drafts for your fic ruins your day, take a step back.
Fic writing is, first and foremost, about enjoyment, and when it stops being about that then that's a sign you need to put on the breaks. And it really is only putting on the breaks, not stopping entirely. I don't think you should give up on your fic entirely. If you've got your plans written up (even if it's a very rough word vomit on a google doc or a mindmap or timeline drawn on a piece of scrap paper) then you can store that away for later when the wounds hurt a lot less.
Basically, don't feel pressured to write, but don't feel pressured to give up everything you've been working on just because you're not writing right now. I promise that fic will still be there waiting for you when you've taken the time to process whatever needs processing. Worst comes to absolute worst, you end up realizing later that you didn't enjoy this story that much after all, but recycle the ideas you had for it into other fic ideas that do bring you joy! (Not saying that'll happen, but it's not a bad thing if it does!)
If it's not something you feel you have to immediately take a step back from, however, I'd encourage you to give writing a first draft for the chapter/scene you're most excited about a go (even if it's a scene that's, like, halfway through the story). Don't set yourself any goals, don't try to reach a wordcount or write for a certain amount of hours a day or get it finished by a certain time or whatever - just write what you can write in whatever timeframe it ends up taking. If you find yourself enjoying the process, keep plodding along. If you realize it's still upsetting you, stop and take a break and don't feel bad about it.
(Also I'd say don't watch the show while you're writing, especially if that's the something you've noticed is making you feel shitty. If you're trying to keep it close to canon for certain parts of the story, try to work off of what you can remember without rewatching - you can always come back and tweak it, and what you write will probably end up being more interesting working from memory too!)
Again, I'm really sorry that the show made you feel shitty about something you love so much. I really hope the show doesn't ruin your love for Loki in the long run and the wounds heal after a while. You deserve that comfort character. Even if you're not in the right place to hear it right now, it's only canon if you decide it's canon. They can't make us accept their version of canon if we don't want to (and we have better ideas anyway)!
Whatever you decide to do, don't let it be a detriment to your mental wellbeing. I'm sure whatever you end up writing in the long run will be terrific and you'll be proud of it. Hope you have a wonderful day too, sweet nonny, and I'm rooting for you no matter what you end up doing šŸ„ŗšŸ’•

Ink is Thicker Than Water --- Chapter 5: I give it a 10
Toda spent most of his afternoon wishing he felt well enough to pace. Finding out that Orvokki was still alive was no small news. She was a cruel woman, and visions of what she was like, and what she thought like still stuck with him and plagued his sleep. Another thing to worry about was Simonā€¦ Theyā€™d logged off in a huff, and he was genuinely worried, both about how they were and aboutā€¦ how they really thought about him.
A motion from his skope caught his attention and he took a sharp breath. Simon was back online.
T: hey
S: Hey.
T: I'm sorry about earlier. i was freaking out bout Orvokki, and I forgot and gt a little carried away. T: we decided we still arent going to do anyhting right now.
S: ... Ok.
T: ... u doing ok...?
Toda sighed a little after he sent it. He should just ask them... He was probably freaking out over nothing. Simon had told Jill that she was strong, in and out of battle, hadn't they? And hadn't they told him that they thought Rank was just a letter and a number, before they played Rainmaker? ... But when they lost at Blackbelly, they took that pretty hard... He'd thought it had something to do with what Yuri had said to them, especially with the conversation the two of them had had afterwards... but was that the case?
S:... Not really. S: But there's not much we can do.
T: Yeah...
T: can i ask u something?
S: Yeah, sure.
T: when did u know that u liked me? How long had we knon each ohter? T: Im not trying 2 b gushy, just curious.
S:... S: Call me shallow, but I'm pretty sure I was going to yell at you for bumping into me until I saw your face. S: when I said I'd always found you cute... I... Wasn't kidding. S: I kind of thought it would just be a fling...but here we are.
His breath caught in his throat, and it felt like his stomach had dropped a few inches. Oh no. Any other time he would've been a little flattered, but... no no no...
S: what really got me was... Getting to know you though... You've been a good influence on me. S: I wouldn't trade meeting you, or how I feel, for anything in the entire world.
T: Ive been a good influence on u?
S: Yeah.
He paused, looking at the message. What had he done that they'd think was a good influence? He typed a response, trying to make it sound lighthearted.
T: how so? hvae I... inspired u to make more puns or smoething? :P
S: Ha, maybe that in addition. S: ... I was starting to forget what trust felt like. S: well, except with Jill. But the point is, I needed some mutual trust... You and Bato sort of reminded me. You guys got me to open up. S: I'm sure there are other things here and there but... That's what comes to mind first.
T: ah...
S: Are you ok?
T: yea mi fnie
Toda winced; he'd sent that way too quickly... Quit stalling and just ask already, for crying out loud.
S: .... Toda...
He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, his face flushing, then took a deep breath. Here goes nothingā€¦
T: We told Jill about the conversation we had the other day; we were trying to explain why w weren't going to tlak to 3, and we sort of back ourselves nto a corner. T: wen we told her you had sort of said not to mention it to hr, she said it was because u thoght she was weak T: Because she lkies to batle for fun, and u battle to win T: she thinks taht u think that makes hr weak
S: ... She... Still thinks that?
T: Thats what she said... T: ... So ou don't think that?
S: Did you think I do?
T: I didn't at first, cause I told u right when we met that B nd I play for fun T: btu seh said if u hd liked m from the start tehn u would have askd us anyway T: I still didn't wnat 2 tihnk that u thought liek taht T: btu i wsa...
S: i domt anytmore Damn it.
[SloshMasterV3 is offline]
T: wiat no! His fingers trembled. He didnā€™t mean to make them upset again, he justā€¦ He took another deep breath and wiped his eyes. At least he had an answerā€¦ Sort of...
He read their last message again; they didn't anymore... So had they used to?
A chime pulled him from his thoughts.
[4PawzAndMeow is online.]
J: re u the reason theres a new barrge of sobs comin form S's room?
Toda's heart sank. Oh noā€¦
T: ... Probbly...
J: O J: I... wasn't bein serioos.
T: u soundd pretty serious
J: i ment th@ i didnt think u were Y... sry
T: oh
J:... U dint brak up wih thm did U?
T: no no T: no I didn't
J: @ lest theres th@
T: yah...
He glanced at Simon's tab. He needed to apologize again... Butā€¦ it could be hours before they came back onlineā€¦
T: hy Jill T: can I cme ovr? T: I want to say sory to thm. T: or hve a chance to
J: say sorry 4 wh@?
T: how abot if thy dnā€™t wnat to hear it I go to yuor room an we cn talk
There was a long pause.
J: yeah K. J: th@ works.
T: k T: be theer soon
J: k
He took a deep breath, then got his shoes on, slipped on his Splattershot Jrā€™s holster, and went on his way, taking his time so he didnā€™t wear himself out. He thought all the way over, running through his head his apology over and over again. How much should he say? Probably everything. As he drew near to the Grace house, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
Madeline opened the door, blinking in surprise. "Toda?" She asked. "Simon and Jill didn't say you were coming over."
"Afternoon, Mrs. Grace." Toda said, probably more formally than he needed to. "Jill invited me over about an hour ago?ā€
She paused, glancing over her shoulder for a second, then stepped aside to let him in. ā€œAlright, just donā€™t bug Simon right now, theyā€™reā€¦ not feeling so good today.ā€
He felt a twinge of guilt; That was the exact reason why he was here. "Thank you.ā€ He said, peering around as he entered.
It was still quite a mess, the floor was scuffed and stained in a multitude of places, the stairs had no railing, bullet holes in the walls, the drywall on the ceiling was cracked, and Madelineā€™s prized roller was resting beside the stairs instead of hanging on the wall, at least for the moment. It looked like a warzone, and to be fair it sort of was. He gave a nod toward Madeline, then carefully made his way upstairs, managing to avoid grabbing for the railing that was no longer there.
He carefully stepped up to Simonā€™s door, a lump in his throat. He could hear faint sobbing on the other side, and he briefly considered skipping and just talking to Jillā€¦ when he saw her staring at him from down the hall. Her gaze flitted from him to the door and back again expectantly.
He took what felt like the millionth deep breath that day and knocked softly on the door.
ā€œGo AWAY!ā€ They shouted immediately.
He flinched, glancing for the stairs and praying Madeline hadnā€™t heard that. "Simon?" When there was no reply he steeled himself and continued. "Simon, I.. I wanted to apologize for earlier. I would have sent a message on Skope, but you were offline andā€¦ " He looked down at the floor. ā€œThe question was personal, itā€¦ I hope it didnā€™t feel likeā€¦ an attack. When Jill.. When she told me about your past, it... Kind of struck a nerve with me. There was this kid I was sort of friends with for a while, named Benny; I think I referred to him once as a 'Luna-wielding ass'... It's a long story, but I should have known better than to think that you would think like that. I know you're not like that, I know that isn't you. I'm really sorry."
There was a long pause before the door opened a crack, and Simon stuck out their hand. Gingerly he took it, grip loose, just in case they wanted to pull away. However, their grip tightened, and they flung open the door, pulling him into an embrace.
He squeaked and stumbled as he almost lost his balance, but then squeezed them tight, resting his chin on their shoulder. "I-I'm really sorry." He repeated.
"... Nothingā€™s getting easier..." Simon whispered.
"No, it it isnā€™t..." He agreed. "... You'd think we would've earned a break at this point, huh?"
"You would think..." They agreed with a sigh. "... Well, while things are this difficult, if this 'Benny' shows his face you let me know so I can punch it."
He smiled just a little bit. "I will... Thanks."
"No problem... You don't even have to tell me why." They said quietly.
He took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. "... Is there someone I should keep my eyes out for?" He asked. "So I can return the favor?"
Their grip tightened around him. "Roderick. You see that bastard you can punch him as hard as you like."
"Gladly." He muttered with a small nod.
"It's a deal then." They said.
"A deal.ā€ He agreed. ā€œā€¦ Can we sit down? I had to do a lot of walking and Iā€™m kind of worn out...ā€
ā€œIā€™m not surprised, itā€™s awfully late.ā€ They said, edging over to sit on the foot of their bed.
ā€œā€¦ Wait, it is?ā€ He asked, pulling away.
ā€œā€¦ Yeah, Toda, itā€™s like, 10. Dude, itā€™s dark out and itā€™s summer, what time did you think it was?ā€
ā€œI dunno, 6? 6:30?ā€ He said, feeling his cheeks flush.
Simon slowly put one palm on their face. ā€œDid you even set up a ride home? The trains are going to close soon.ā€
ā€œā€¦ I forgot to tell my mom I was leaving.ā€ He admitted.
Their other hand joined the first. "ā€¦ Okay, I can ask my Mom if she'll drive you home-" They broke off for a long moment. "... You're probably not going to be comfortable with that."
"... Not really." He said, breaking off eye contact, sure his ears were flushed by now.
ā€œHow about I ask mom and dad if you can sleep over, and then we play some video games downstairs?
He smiled at that, nodding ā€œYeahā€¦ I need to call my parents too.ā€
They smiled. ā€œOkay, meet me downstairs soon.ā€ They said,
He nodded, absently adjusting his cap as he watched them goā€¦ They were still so cuteā€¦
After a moment he pulled his phone out of his pocket. ā€œā€¦ Hey dad, itā€™s Toda. Can I stay the night at Simonā€™s house?ā€
THUD
Toda sat up with a snort, rubbing one of his eyes as he tried to figure out what was going on.
"Of course it's still a problem!" Jill was shouting.
"Shhh! Keep it down! He's still sleeping!" Simon replied.
"And already it's all about him!" She snapped.
Oh no. He remembered now. Heā€™d spent the night at Simonā€™s house, after coming over to apologizeā€¦ apparently there was still friction between the twins howeverā€¦ He grabbed his squidvader cap and started to put it on.
"It's not all about him! What's this 'it' you keep talking about anyway!?" Simon snapped, he could hear them pacing outside.
"I... I don't know, but.. This isn't working!" Jill replied.
"No SHIT. But I'm not just going to sit here while you yell at me for every mistake I've ever made." They said angrily.
"Maybe you should apologize for once!" She huffed.
His hearts sank a little. ā€œOh no...ā€ He abandoned tucking all his tentacles into his hat and stood, quickly making his way to the door.
"I thought this might be the one time you'd be ok with it!" They exclaimed.
"You broke your promise!" She said.
"Ok, First off, We shouldn't be having this argument right now, and second of all, I thought you /liked/ Toda!"
"I do!! I do! He's the nicest kid you've ever dated. But I'm tired of you being so selfish and hypocritical!"
"Hypocritical? How am I-"
"You talk about how you want to be just like mom, just as good as mom. But when it comes down to it, you /have/ to have me with you, and you only use our squad as a dating device!" Jill shouted. ā€œNone of us deserve that!ā€
Toda flung open the door and peeked out, having to use one hand to hold his hat on. Both Jill and Simon turned to look at him, looking rather embarrassed.
ā€œā€¦ Hey Toda~ā€ Jill said, tone cheerful, but posture anything but.
ā€œā€¦ Sorry.ā€ Simon said, looking away.
"... It's okay." He mumbled, still a little bit groggy. He looked between the two of themā€¦ they were both obviously upsetā€¦ He was never good at helping during something like this, that was what Bato was good atā€¦ Right, be like Bato. He squared his shoulders, then stepped up and put a hand on Jillā€™s shoulder. ā€œItā€™sā€¦ okay to be upset.ā€
ā€œUpset? Iā€™m more than upset!ā€ She said, pulling away from him. ā€œIā€™m furious!ā€
ā€œTell me something I donā€™t know.ā€ Simon huffed. ā€œWe should just leave it.ā€
ā€œLeave what, the squad!?ā€ She snapped. "You'd probably LIKE that! You can just as easily find a cute and/or muscular and dumb boy to replace me by tomorrow!"
"Jill!"
Toda flinched a little bit at her tone, pressing himself up against the wall. "Jillā€¦ Can you maybe take a deep--ā€
"ADMIT IT! YOU DON'T WANT ME!!!" She interrupted.
"YES! I! DO!!!" Simon snapped back.
"BULLSHIT!!!" She screamed. YOU LIED ABOUT DATING TODA, YOU PROMISED YOU WOULDNā€™T USE OUR SQUAD FOR DATING AGAIN, ALL YOU DO IS LIE LIE LIE!"
ā€œJill I--ā€ Toda tried to cut in.
"THAT'S NOT TRUE!!!" They screamed back.
ā€œSimon---ā€ He tried again.
"YOU ALSO LIED ABOUT THE AGENT THING!!ā€ Jill screeched.
"I-I DIDN'T LIE, I JUST DIDN'T TELL YOU!!!" Simon hollered, slightly wavering.
ā€œENOUGH!ā€ Toda snapped, flushing with embarrassment. ā€œā€¦ Sorry, Iā€¦ Youā€™re not going to get anywhere if you keep screaming at each other! Jill, whatā€™s really wrong?ā€
Jill was silent a long moment. ā€œā€¦ Iā€¦ Iā€™m lonely, and Iā€™m worried Iā€™m going to lose Simon to youā€¦ā€
Todaā€™s ears drooped. ā€œIā€™m not trying to take them awayā€¦ Iā€™m sorry you felt that way...ā€ He slowly looked at Simon. ā€œā€¦ Simon, what about you? Whatā€™s wrong?ā€
They looked at him a long moment, then sighed. ā€œā€¦ Iā€¦ Iā€™m scared Iā€™m going to lose you too Jill, butā€¦ Iā€™m scared that if we get involved, weā€™ll.. die. Itā€™s dangerous out there, and I donā€™t want you to be left without me, or to be without you, or both of us to be gone, and our parents are left in a ruined house all by themselves...ā€
Jill was quiet for a long moment. ā€œā€¦ So you arenā€™tā€¦ just scared of me being hurt?ā€
They shook their head. ā€œNo, of course not. Iā€™ve been hurt out there just as easilyā€¦ā€ They sighed. ā€œIā€™m sorry, forā€¦ saying that you were weak onceā€¦ I didnā€™t know it had stuck with you and I didnā€™t know just how much Iā€™d hurt you. Youā€™re not weak, and trust me, Iā€™ll never say you are again. Youā€™re stronger than me in a lot of ways.ā€
She paused, then huffed. ā€œNo Iā€™m not...ā€
ā€œYes you are.ā€ Simon pressed. ā€œYouā€™re stronger in will and in joy, andā€¦ maybe physically, Iā€™m not sure.ā€
She started laughing, then wiped at her eye before holding out her hand, palm down. ā€œTo Splattershot Sundae.ā€
They smirked, and put their hand on top of hers. ā€œTo Splattershot Sundae.ā€
ā€œTo Splattershot Sundae.ā€ Toda agreed, putting his hand on top of theirs.
There was a long pause, then Jill put her other hand on top and spoke in a deep voice. ā€œIā€™m Bato and Iā€™m totally here.ā€
Toda laughed. ā€œDear Judd, thatā€™s spot on.ā€
"... We good Jill?" Simon asked.
"We're much better. I'll... Try to talk with you if something comes up, rather than just blow up." She said awkwardly.
ā€œI would appreciate that.ā€ They huffed. ā€œā€¦ Hey, whereā€™s mom and dad, they hate it when we fight.ā€
Jill got a gleam in her eye. ā€œMom gotā€¦ /the call/ā€
Simonā€™s eyes went wide. ā€œReally?ā€
"... The call?" Toda asked, glancing between the two of them with a confused look.
"The call's just what we call it when Mom suddenly gets dragged in to more work, but she can't legally tell us what it is." Simon explained. "But in this case that's good newsā€¦ perhaps a battleā€™s around the corner."
He smiled. ā€œOooo, that is good news!ā€
"And then Dad's off to regular work." Jill asked.
"Seems we've got the house entirely to ourselves." Simon shrugged. "As well as the burden to make breakfast, I think."
Toda's stomach growled a little bit at the mention of breakfast and he blushed, rubbing the back of his neck.
Jill giggled. "It seems like a cereal morning to me!ā€ She said, then sprinted down the hall. ā€œBetter come after me quick or Iā€™ll put ice cream on it!ā€
ā€œJill, no!ā€ Simon yelped, running after her.
Toda laughed and ran after them, letting himself smile.

Game Over. Sophia is trying to be neutral here and is catering to the S*lkis, using phrasing like "she definitely cares about Loki... she's making sure he's okay by getting him out of the way... I don't know if she is in love with him... There is so many interpretations of it..." that is very much for audience debate, but if you look at interviews she gave back in June/July, she tells a completely different story now (from what actually happened {like Sylvie cared two shits if Loki was okay after she pushed them out of the way- at the TVA, Loki was still a wanted criminal. So kinda bad on her end for misremembering, but hey- Misremembering events prior to and in the show is a common trait for anyone working on the show or who can't notice the glaring issues and plot holes relevant) vs her own interpretation, but there are phrases that are noticable (calling Loki and Sylvie the same person - variants are still the same person {genetically} from their Sacred Timeline self, no amount of name changing and hair dying or shapeshifting can change that; and that she herself doesn't know if Sylvie is in love with them- when she was very adamant about that {Sylvie loving Loki} a few months ago) that does at least confirm that there is a shift in her view point over the months, even if it may be little.
IDK what was said at the Con so I cannot tell what is/what isn't factually said or interpreted by audience, but from what I heard is that she didn't boast about the relationship being canon nor hushed a word about it (again, IDK if it's true, I haven't seen anything about it so if anyone has info about what was said straight out, please let me know). Is she finally looking at what the audience (all of the audience, not just supporters, but those who critique the show with the intention to see the series be better and to be the product we're promised) and is considering their criticism as valid and should be listened to, IDK.
Tumblr media
So... Does this answer from Sophia feel like Endgame Sylki or Game Over Sylki to you?
(Sorry for the shitty tags, I just went with everything that was recommended to me.)

A few issues with your statement here:
1.) "[Selfcest] doesn't even affect reality because it can't happen in real life in the way it's happening in the show" - sadly, that is false. It is a real life thing, named Autogynephilia. Autogynephilia is defined as you are not really trans, not really gender fluid, not really nonbinary: just grossly attracted to yourself in the opposite sex. And if you do a search here on Tumblr, Insta, Twitter, etc., you'll find that these sick bastards are prominent. And I always wondered, "Okay, if they are trying to push the idea that Loki's a narcissist, then why have they [TVA!Loki] not shown any sort of attraction towards President Loki, as they are the only one who resembles the TVA!Loki in appearance?" But Marvel, Waldron and Herron all have came out and answered the question; they said that Loki's gender fluidity "was who he was in the comics", " would handcuff future directors" and "perhaps [the Lokis] are not gender fluid... Its up to interpretation". In other words: Loki isn't gender fluid in the eyes of Marvel and the creative team behind Loki (as well as many S*lki shippers here and on Twitter like my God guys, we get it: you don't like to listen to audience members who have every reason to hate this ship, and you want Hiddleston to peg you so bad you don't wanna walk. Go and read Most Hated Guy in the World and the Woman Trying to Kill Him; its the "draft" script of the show {I put it in quotations because that shit is the Loki Series if it was on Hulu or anything that wasn't Disney+}, it has the hardcore sex you desire, have at it), he is just grossly attracted to themselves in the opposite sex.
2.) And you are right: there are bisexuals who are in straight passing relationships, and who only had partners of the opposite sex, and it doesn't make them any less valid. However, what Loki said ("A bit of both") is vague and would be edited out (along side "perhaps another Prince") or glossed over. A mutual of mine here on Tumblr (a bi-pan person themselves) and MANY other individuals on other social media platforms missed it entirely on multiple viewings. It was that vague and is most likely never going to be explored or referenced again in the show (given how Waldron is writing it). It was a check mark in a box on a list to finish but never give second glance at ever again. And it wasn't the first time in Marvel's history either: there was to be a third Amazing Spider-Man movie that would've introduced MJ, but Andrew Garfield wanted this particular MJ to be a male (I have heard rumors that Spidey is bi in the comics, if anyone has any evidence if this is true or not, please let me know) And Marvel was not a fan of that and demanded for Garfield to apologize. But he denied and called them out on their bullshit, which led to him losing the role of Spidey. But, this is now in DISNEY'S hand: the hugest bigot and queerbaiting corporation that the world has ever seen, there is going to be the smallest, littlest, vague enough to gloss over for those watching the series but to be easily edited out if need be. And the fact that the Creative Team had seen bisexuality as nothing more than sexual (see the BTS of the series for more context), should be a red flag that there is something wrong.
3.) The show should have focused on Loki and their trauma first than... Whatever they are doing here (saying abuse is therapy, and that self love leads to self destruction and sabotage, the gross stereotyping of gender fluidity, etc.,). It's glossed over and Loki is completely out of character for where they are mentally and emotionally and is quite disgusting the toxic mentality that is shared with everyone on the Creative Team (spare Hiddles cuz he only had 5% of his ideas considered) A few post I reblogged points out that Loki has codependency than any "self love" or "narcissism". But with Mobius, he does change and he does have compassion (in comparison to Sylvie) for Loki. He is the one who spares Loki's life from being reset, he is the only one who believes and trusts Loki more than Loki (Sylvie) has in themselves, he sees that there is someone good in Loki and is worthy of trust and respect. Does it make what he does to Loki in episode one and four justified, hell no. It is vial and I wouldn't be surprised if this has been apart of the TVA's idea of " therapy", prior to Mobius' Nexus Event that led him to being an Analyst. But, like what Mobius says, "it's never too late for change." He is a good person, but his actions are questionable at best and disgusting at worse - but he isn't the same character from the first episode (even with the other Mobius that Loki is stuck with at the finale) and has changed for the better. If Loki is allowed to change, why can't Mobius?
This may or may not be a hot take. I'm not a Sylkie fan. But I don't buy into the arguments against it, that it's 'selfcest,' either. It doesn't even affect reality because it can't happen in real life in the way it's happening in the show. So, the only excuse left around demonizing it is, "it makes me uncomfortable." That's cool. But it doesn't mean that people should stop writing that sort of thing. Write whatever the hell you want. Just tag it. Fanfiction and fanart doesn't have the same impacts mass media do... I suspect, the only people complaining that being against Sylkie is 'Bisexual erasure' are either straight women for Sylkie or Bi women for Sylkie who have a preference for men. I'm a part of the second group but I can still be unbiased about this. Loki's and Sylkie's relationship reinforces Heteronormativity and makes same-sex-attraction seem inferior to straightness which is Homophobia and Biphobia. When Bisexuals have to erase, suppress, hide the same-sex attracted part of themselves to appease Heteros, that is just as oppressive as having to erase your opposite sex attraction to be accepted and respected by monosexuals in the LGBTQ community. It's frustrating and harmful, hearing certain people constantly ignoring what I last wrote. There are Bisexuals who've been forced to hide one part of themselves (the same-sex-attracted part) and have dealt with Bi/Homophobia when others have discovered they were attracted to the same sex. That can be very traumatizing and damaging.
There are also bisexuals who at certain times in their lives, have been exclusively attracted to the same sex. There are bisexuals who are more attracted to the same sex, overall. Why couldn't Loki have been the later type of bisexuals? Because Disney wanted to make their money without offending homophobes and bisexuals who are mostly or currently exclusively attracted to the opposite sex. When you spew all these self-serving arguments in the future, please consider this. Not all Bisexuals have coasted through life like yourself. That also doesn't mean I'm for Loki/Mobius. I just don't find the actor who plays Mobius, attractive. I don't wanna imagine that. And I like dark, problematic elements in my fictional romances. But because I have a strong distaste for this pairing, the problematic elements I noticed in Mobius and Loki's dynamic, just solidifies my distaste for this pairing, even more. I noticed the abusive imbalance of power between them in the beginning and it made me mortified for Loki and even a bit frustrated with how the writers wrote him, so easily, cringily, OOCishly submitting to it and opening up to Mobius when in a real life, therapeutic relationship, this dynamic would be highly unethical and traumatizing for the client. Now, if that's what you intend to write, it's not real and life is full of people doing unethical things so why can't those stories be told but in the context of this being a ship and in me seeing myself in Loki, it sucks for me.
People claim Mobius showed Loki compassion. I disagree. He needed him for his own self-centered purposes which was to catch another Loki. He didn't seem to actually care about Loki, at all. He seemed to have a strong contempt bordering on scorn, for him. That's not compassion. That's not empathy. It was almost traumatizing for me to watch. I just hated it. There was too little focus on Loki's psyche like I wanted and too much focus on Sylvie, Sylkie, Mobius and everything else. Disappointed with the direction of the show, overall. But I do love Loki and hope that T.H. remains employed as Loki or in other roles for the foreseeable future. I'd rather create OCs in my fanfictions for Loki to be with like putting him with an OC, T.H. version of himself because two T.H. Lokis are double the sexiness. And same-sex attracted men being portrayed in media in obviously sexual ways, spits in the face of homophobia and heteronormativity, for all those saying 'Gay fetishization.' Even straight men being sexualized by women bucks against the status quo and the straight male gaze. It can sometimes be harmful for women attracted to men to sexualize Gay men depending on the context. But I don't think writing Gay fanfic is the same as women pressuring random Gay and Bi men to perform for them in real life or some obviously creepy and wrong shit like that. Fiction =/= equal reality. Ship and let ship.
