Cyno; Choking

The look on your face was, to say the least perfect to think that the same lips that smiled at him bit down in pleasure. The same mouth that has laughed at all his jokes before hand, being grabbed and clenched down on the side as it gasped for air. Cyno found it mesmerizing to say the least, usually while you two became one he was watching where you connected over and over again. Though this time he couldn't break his eyes away from where his hands met your throat, a smile dancing on his face. His brows eyes meeting yours in the midst of things, sure it didn't show on your face but he knew you well enough to know you were embarrassed darting your eyes away from him. He didn't understand what was the best part, that you gus got to spice up your love life? Or the face that you gave him control over you as his grip got tighter, maybe that's what it was. Regardless before he could finish himself, he knew better to have you finish before him what kind of man would he be if not?

His mind went of the rails as you lunged your finger into his arms, those same pretty fingers that begged to touch him.

Ayato; Oral(receiving)

Being married to Ayato wasn't all sunshine and rainbows all the time, more then you'd like your husband was out doing work it was annoying but you too still adored each other. This notion that character design and animation in Wuthering Waves is somehow less then Genshin is ridiculous.

First off Genshin has 5 character models and 3 (maybe 4 eye) styles they reuse. Which makes total sense because it save their team a lot of time, but it also leads to a lot of characters that look the same face wise.

Wuthering Waves has unique face shapes, noses and eyes for most characters. This is just a fact, though the females can look a little samey here as well.

Listen, Genshin puts a lot in to their clothing because they don’t have a lot to fall back on in other areas, but if you’re telling me that you could tell Navia was a defacto mob boss, Lisa was a librarian or Garou (or Cyno or Kokami for that matter) are leaders of an army just by looking at them you are a fucking liar.

Gaming? He’s just a kid in street clothes that doesn’t fit in with the fantasy setting that is Genshin and he most certainly doesn’t scream lion dancer by looking at him.

You know these things because you were told these things. Let’s be honest. These characters always appear in game before banner and if not in game they are plastered over every YouTube video, livestream and drip marketing.

For fucks sake. You’d have to have your head in the sand to not anything at all about these characters before release.

Next the super special Genshin animations that take oh so long to do.

Most characters, especially outside of 5* characters (and even then some of the 5*) use the same attack animation at varying speeds. It’s noticeable in everyone, but most of all archers and lancers.

Again, it is to save time and that is understandable, but we are not going to pretend that Genshin does not recycle assets to a degree that characters are beginning to blend together visually as well as play wise. After all, you only have 3 buttons to utilize.

Buuut Layla, there is only so much you can do with a bow?!? Yeah sort of. I guess and if it was just limited to that I would understand, but it’s not. Heavy attack broadsword? Spin.

Go ahead. Tell me I am wrong. I have played Genshin and I played it for a very long time.

In comparison Aalto, Chixia, and Mortefi all feel and look different in their movements. Aalto feels and looks like he flows with the wind, Chixia playful and fast, Mortefi flashy and arrogant and it shows in their animation.

As for catalysts they too play different. Verina rides her vines on heavy attack, Baizhi uses her bird thing, and Encore literally lobs sheep.

Short swords. Everyone I have poked at is unique. Yangyang has a quick step with very purposeful moves, Spectro Rover quick finesse, Havoc Rover slow and sweeping. This also turns in to a scythe by the way. Danjin girl a mix of low and high stance and she stumbles a bit on heavy.

Broad sword. Jiyan uses both his sword and a flipping lance to fight as well as his whole body. He kicks and there is very little wasted movement. Cal I have not tried yet, but I promise you none of them heave attacks involve spin to win as is the case with every great sword user in Genshin.

The most unique characters so far in Genshin is Wrio and Heizou. Both catalysts and both punch boys. Lingyang punches and Yanwu kicks and they are both unique. Neither requires spam plummeting to play.

Lastly, Genshin recycles movement in talking cutscenes. Characters, if they have a mouth, are not visually expressive a lot of the time due to the limitations of their game. Pretending otherwise is being disingenuous.

WW has not only facial expressions, but unique animations that coincide with the words coming out of faces which have mouths, noses and sync animations.

Clothing is not personality (behavior, expression and even the way they fight is) and the characters and their designs do tell you a lot about them if you bother to actually play the game.

There are 2 known regions in this game, these characters all look like they come from one of these two places and they all fit in to the world that has been built. You shouldn’t need over the top outfits to carry your characters, but this “I can’t tell anything about them” bull shit is from people who haven’t touched the game.

Little touches like Yangyang’s feathers, Jiyan and Mertefis scales, Lingyang as a whole, Verina’s vine tail? That tells you nothing? lol

If you can’t tell anything about them by looking at them it’s because you haven’t played the game or bothered to learn about the world and thus it is a you problem and your “criticism” is invalid.

Everything can always be better and Wuthering Waves is far from perfect, but at the end of the day this shit is from Hoyo bots and it simply holds no water.

and whoops, thankfully i didn't spoil much abt it but im tired and stressed from exams so let me put it out by talking abt angst making them suffer again

so you know tighnari got struck by lightning by the balladeer in the 3.2 quest right? well assuming the reconciliation happened pre 3.2 then reader would perhaps join tighnari to help out beforehand, not knowing that fatui would come and show up

maybe it's because they noticed that lightning was about to struck so reader being the self sacrificial selfless person they are, quickly pushed him out of the way

unfortunately, their reaction wasn't fast enough or perhaps it's because they're a literal death magnet they were the victim of being struck by lightning instead

hoo boy, cyno would not be happy one bit when he finds out. the next time he sees that harbinger which fortunately won't happen it's on sight for real

although the injury they sustained wasn't the worst they've gotten before, but it was still pretty serious especially if they don't have a strong constitution so recovery wouldn't be fast

what would cyno feel? ashamed and blaming himself for not being there probably

some fluff to make it up, cyno would of course visit reader while they're recovering, just him staying by their side makes it so much better for them so they can for sure expect good sleeps coming

So when he found out that Tighnari and Traveler was there, he was thankfully relieved, however his anger is ten times worse. He was about to run off before Alhaitham held him back, telling him they have to focus on the plan (which would be when Nilou shows up, this is the scene where they recruit her btw) but the moment they ended the meeting, he's sprinting off to Pardis Dhyai

I can imagine Tighnari scolding them when the others leave, cradling them in his arms while on top of Karkata. But he's a bit teary-eyed because he's scared and worried for his friend too no matter how much of a pain in the ass they were, checking their breathing and holding them close since they're temporarily paralyzed, and also probably cuz they're also crying from the pain (he's super guilty so it's easy for him to feel like crying when he saw them cry)

When Cyno came over, it would be a joint crying session then cuz the emotions are tenfold, amplified. Tighnari would ask Cyno to bring them to Ghandarva Ville to get proper medical care since he still has to watch over Haypasia, so he would be staying over the whole night to tend to their needs before going to Sumeru City to carry on with the plan. "I'll make sure this stops once and for all, for you."

Now there's overprotective and soft Tighnari, doting Cyno - oh imagine how angry Tighnari would be when he found out the Sages are staying over at Avidya Forest. He's mean with his words, no filter, if he could use his ult at them he would have - sometimes he punches a tree before and after checking in on them so he can take his anger out, I just want Tighnari to go ape shit for once, and he would have done so to the Fatuus too of they hadn't died from the lightning already

Genshin Impact to Add Third Banner Phase in Fontaine, Leak Suggests

This Genshin Impact leak suggests that HoYoverse may expand its anime game by including a third character banner phase. This would bring the total number of five-star banner characters accessible per update up to nine, giving users more choices for each update. Due to the roster's constant expansion, characters like Eula haven't been on a banner since late 2021. There just isn't enough room for them. Hu Tao and Shenhe were recently in the same boat as Eula, waiting over a year to become available for pulls again. Thankfully, Hu Tao is currently on a banner in Genshin Impact version 3.4, and Shenhe is confirmed to be coming in the second half of version 3.5. However, Eula has been missing since November 2021, and there’s been no official mention of her banner at all recently. She won’t even be on a banner during the Mondstadt events next update, which is bizarre, given the fact that four characters who have nothing to do with Mondstadt – Ayaka, Shenhe, Dehya, and Cyno – will be available. Genshin Impact to add third banner phase in Fontaine, leak suggests: anime characters presenting future genshin impact banners When HoYoverse begins adding new characters to pull for from Fontaine, older options will start to get fewer and fewer reruns. 5-stars:

pyro

- i still want yoimiya. i like her decently enough. gonna try to get her next patch

geo

- still very much want albedo. even though he's not the most meta unit. i just think he's neat

- still want zhongli. although probably a little less now that i have layla and plan on building her at some point

anemo

- definitely still want venti. i don't give a single fuck whether he's meta or not; that tone-deaf bard will be MINE

- still want kazuha. as a character he's pretty alright. his cc will definitely come in handy at some point so preparing for that eventuality

cryo

- don't particularly want ayaka anymore tbh. even if i get to the point where i have a 5-star dps for every other element, i'm quite adamant on having chong be my cryo dps basically forever. yeah ik she's ridiculously strong and shit. i just don't care anymore tbh. also i used to like her a decent amount as a character, but for some reason i'm pretty meh on her nowadays. so yeah

- still want shenhe. still solely to buff chong. although a lot of these other characters i've listed will take priority over her

hydro

- still want kokomi. i really like her as a character. but even though she's the premier healer, other characters like kazuha will take priority.

4-stars:

- already got yanfei

- still want yun jin. need her for my future mono geo team. probably gonna get her on the next banner

- not sure if i still want ningguang. i'll probably get her at some point anyway just from pulling for 5-stars. if i get her then ig she can go in my mono geo team. but idk. i know for sure i want albedo and gorou in there. and she'd be fighting with yun jin and noelle for the last two spots. but anyway, yeah. i'll cross that bridge when i get to it

update to characters i said i wouldn't mind getting:

diluc - i definitely wouldn't mind getting diluc. but i'll already have yoimiya as my pyro dps so he probably won't see much use unfortunately. i'd probably build him after i get my teams fully kitted out

tighnari - now the standard 5-star i want the most. i honestly hope he gets back on rate-up soon. not holding my breath though. i'm actually looking forward to losing my 50/50's in the hopes of getting tighnari

heizou - maybe when i do his hangout quest i'll change my mind. but right now he's been demoted to the 'idc that much' tier

qiqi - already have her. i like her a fair amount as a character. unfortunately she doesn't see that much use

ganyu - honestly not that interested in getting her anymore, for similar reasons to ayaka. also her playstyle just isn't for me. as a character, she's alright. pretty meh to me

nilou - i definitely plan on getting her in the future. i like her a lot, and her playstyle seems fun to me

childe - he's alright. strong, but if i wanted a traditional hydro dps i'd probably go for ayato. and i already plan on getting nilou so yeah

mona - she's pretty meh to me. idc that much about getting her anymore

fischl - already got her. she's pretty nifty. also at first i thought i wouldn't like her as a character, but her voice lines actually managed to make me like her

beidou - don't particularly want her anymore. i'm too much of a dummy for her parry gameplay

update to the characters i said i didn't particularly like:

nahida - i love her now. definitely getting her whenever she gets rerun again

scaramouche - i don't dislike him as much anymore. but that doesn't necessarily mean i like him now. okay, maybe a little bit. that being said, i wouldn't mind using him as my anemo main dps

raiden shogun - okay this is gonna sound like blasphemy. but. i already have fischl. so idk if i particularly want her. electro support? i have fischl and kuki. electro dps? i have cyno (ppl can shit on him all they want, but he's a perfectly serviceable dps). her gameplay does feel pretty good tho i'll give her that. but yeah. i'll still prioritize other units before considering pulling for her. as for how much i like her... well, i can't exactly ignore the atrocities that came out of sakoku and the vision hunt decree. but i don't dislike her as much anymore

some new additions:

yelan - gonna pull for her in the future. if only because it'd be in pretty nifty to have two xingqiu's. she's not exactly the type of character i vibe with, but she's alright. mostly pulling for utility tbh

ayato - my potential traditional hydro dps. (i say traditional because i consider nilou and her bloom teams to be different. don't ask; just funny brain things.) altho if focalors ends up being a fun hydro dps then i'd consider pulling for her instead

eula - aaaaaaaand i've joined the eula wanters club. rips. idk if i'd be desperate enough to whale for her during her fabled rerun. i probably would be, considering she may take another 84 years to get rerun again. i srsly have no business wanting eula. why do i want eula. maybe because i got to try her in her story quest and was mindblown at the damage she could do, especially for just having 4pc noblesse. and physical dps sounds interesting. i already have a couple early consts on mika too. i'm not entirely sure what her best gameplay is supposed to be like. is her physical damage purely from normal attacks? or does she do shatter and that's why she's paired with yelan and shenhe? i don't consider her a competitor for chong because i plan on using him in a reverse melt team for like, serious abyss stuff. and although shatter chong is so gosh darn fun and i still use that team to clear most content, i feel like eula just feels different. idk i have no explanation whatsoever lmao they're just different okay

Tighnari had really done it this time. He found some wild mushrooms he'd never seen before and as always he ate them. Now he felt like he was dying and was clinging to you while you were trying to help him. 

"Tighnari Let go! I can't get you medicine if I can't stand up!" You tried to pry his arms from your waist but it was futile. His arms were wrapped tightly around your waist as his head rested on your lap. "Don't go.. please don't go." He pleaded, as much as you wanted to let him cling to you he needed medicine. "Tighnari I'm not leaving i just need to get you some medicine. You're gonna feel so embarrassed when this is over." You mumbled the last part to yourself.

Finally you coaxed him into letting go and you got his medicine. "Here, drink this." You gave him the medicine and once you had set the bottle down Tiganari had pulled you down beside him and was clinging to you again. "Tiganari!" You shouted in surprise. "I feel horrible." He groaned, "That's what you get for eating weird mushrooms." You couldn't stay mad though, it was very rare for Tiganari to depend on you and he was just acting so cute right now! "I hope you remember all this when you're better. I can't wait to see how embarrassed you become."

his touch feels so nice against you. as one of his arms is wrapped around you with the other reaching up to your face. his touch was gentle as it glided across your skin. he stopped at your collarbone, lightly tracing over a mark that went across it. you couldn't remember how you got it. it wasn't one of the deeper ones, so you just forgot about it.

his hand moved up to one on your neck. it wasn't one of the worst either but you remember the story behind it, you bet he remembers too. you felt his arms get the slightest bit tighter around you. his thumb rubbed against it for a few seconds before finally moving up to your face. there were scratches he ran his fingers over. a scratch that went across your nose that you got from hilichurls. it wouldn't scar at least.

his touch felt nice against your cheek, running across one of your many scars placed there. you tilted your face into his palm and kissed his hand. you loved him, just as he loved all of you.

scaramouche

scaramouche is always unusually quiet in these times. you always wondered why but never bothered to ask him, just in case it was something sensitive to him. you'd wait if he ever wanted to tell you.

scara's hand moved from your cheek, wrapping it around your back as he brought you close to him. he tucked his head into you bare shoulder. he wasn't usually like this, but it was nice.

"do you have a long mission soon?" you asked.

you moved your hand up into his hair as he leaned further into your shoulder.

"...no," he replied. his arms tightened around you as he tried to get you even closer to him.

you nodded as you continued to run your hands through his hair. his hands moved across your back and felt across the scars there too.

"your own soldiers aren't that kind," you joked.

there was a burn that was close to your shoulder, the one scara was laying his head on. you remember the burn it gave, and the anger and concern in scara's voice that day.

"i know," he whispered. his hand ghosted over the burn before he laid his hand on it.

"your skin is so smooth compared to mine… clean in a way."

the harbinger had way less scars compared to you. he had a few across his skin, you always found them nice. you'd compliment them when you could and lightly kiss them. sometimes he'd complain about it, though the smallest bit of red on his cheeks proved you otherwise.

"yet yours has more of a story to tell…" scara said, "how you seem to always make it through the worse. and also a reminder for me scold you more when you come back with blood all over you and your weapon cut in half."

you chuckled at the last part, you even felt a small smile form on scara's face against your shoulder.

"i guess that is true, but i bet yours is nicer to hold though. your skin is soft."

"who said you weren't nice to hug?"

"well i just thought about it -"

"shush, you feel fine."

you let out an amused breath as scara didn't reply any further. you weren't wrong really, scara was nice to hold. his skin felt soft, smooth, you'd be lying if you said you weren't jealous at times when you thought about it. who knew a harbinger, someone who gets orders from the tsaritsa herself, could still look as clean as ever. seemingly untouched by some battles somehow. though you knew that part was completely false.

"you are completely fine," scara said, "i see no problem with how you feel to hold. you're… nice."

well you didn't completely expect that. it was a nice surprise though. you leaned further into scara's touch as the room went silent again. it was a welcomed one though, a silence to bask in each others presence.

he'd hold you like this for a bit longer, running his hands across your skin and tracing your scars. he was amazed you'd let him see you in your bare form. but he was thankful as well, having you trust in him. soon he'd fall asleep against you again, after finally tracing every part of you again as well. you'd wish him goodnight and lay down with him to slowly drift off to sleep next to him.

he was thankful for the amount of trust you had for him, and you were thankful for him to love every piece of you as he did. even the marked and scarred skin of yours. he loved you, truly.

cyno

cyno was a scholar, one that wouldn't travel often. you on the other hand, traveled a lot across teyvat. yet you'd always come back to him. it's no wonder you'd come back with scars on your body and blood on your face. that doesn't mean it didn't worry him though.

"is your nose okay?" cyno whispered.

"mhm, just a small scratch from fighting hilichurls. reported it to the knights when i went to talk to lisa," you said.

"is lisa doing alright?"

"yep, lazy as ever. we had some tea together, it was nice."

cyno nodded as he ran his hand across your face. his touch felt so gentle against you, he could never hurt you then. and he would never hurt you either.

you felt his other hand move downward. down from your stomach and to your thigh. there was another large-ish scar laying there.

"couldn't walk for a while after getting this one, as you probably remember," you laughed dryly. the memories were still present.

the scholar didn't respond, simply running his hands across the scar. he remembered you having to stay in bed for a long time after getting captured by those treasure hoarders. he didn't expect them to be so violent, but at least cyno was able to track you down in time.

his hand moved abruptly from your thigh to your face, cradling your face in both of his hands.

"cyno? is there something wrong?"

"no, not at all," as all he said.

he kissed your forehead. then he kissed the top of your nose, then both of your cheeks, and finally moved to your lips. it was sweet and quick, just like you're used to. but the quick kiss was full of love and adoration of you, something you could tell easily from cyno.

"i hate seeing you get hurt, you know?" he said, pulling away from you slightly. "the times i've seen you come home with bandages across you chest, arms, face, and legs even. it hurts to see."

you leaned into his touch, letting out a deep breath in thought. you did feel bad for worrying him, coming home all of the time battered up with bruises and scratches across your body. you felt bad each time it happened. cyno was a busy man after all.

"i'm sorry cyno… truly. i don't mean to worry you," you whispered against him.

the scholar leaned closer to you, touching his forehead against yours.

"i just don't want to see you get irreversibly injured… to be stuck down to one place, it'd seem like torture to you. so i wish i could join you when you leave, but it is hard with where i am currently."

you moved your hands to remove cyno's hoodie, just so you could run your fingers through his long hair. you always thought it was beautiful.

"i'll try to stay safe for you. so i don't worry you as much."

"i am aware at times it is impossible to avoid injury. but i ask of you, please look out for yourself as well."

you took another deep breath in before replying, "i will, cyno."

he nodded against you, moving to once again kiss you. though this time it was longer than before. cyno once again wrapped his arms around you as he fell back into the bed. laying you on top of him as he waited to fall asleep with you with him once again.

he loved you, every part of you. he loved how you fought, how you never stood down to an opponent. just how you loved him as well. you loved how he always persevered in his academics, how well he did. how he never seemed to get truly mad at you for something. he loved each part of you, and you loved each part of him as well.

Genshin Impact Chapter 1 Act 3: A Reaction.

Chapter 1 Act 3 is what took my experience with this game from “good game” to “masterpiece”.

THIS POST CONTAINS MANY, MANY SPOILERS FOR GENSHIN IMPACT CHAPTER 1: ACT 3

Genshin Impact has some problems— actually, it has a shit ton of problems. But during the fight against hordes of Fatui, with the Adepti channeling their abilities through my gang, flying through them as Oz, decimating them with Diluc— I just thought, this is the best time I’ve had in a mobile game in my life.

This game might not be perfect now— it’s only a quarter of the way done if we’re counting Karenri’ah. But it will be a fucking masterpiece once it’s all out. If this is the level of quality we’re getting for our archon quests, this game is going to be an amazing time on story alone.

KEQING

I love Keqing with all my heart. If she were alive today she would be a socialist here to topple the ruling 1%. When ningguang asked Aether who they trusted more, her or Keqing, I hit the Keqing button as fast as possible.

I think one of my favorite things about Keqing is that she’s so completely honest, which is unusual for a Liyue politician. If she doesn’t like something, she’ll speak out against it. If she thinks something else should be happening, she’ll make it happen. She can probably be deceitful at times, but in general she’s straightforwards in that she wants a government for the people and by the people.

I can’t wait for her story quest!

NINGGUANG

pretty.... voice pretty....

Ningguang is cool. Her JP voice is very pretty, like she could do ASMR videos online or smth. One thing I decidedly did not like about Ningguang is how her personality just ???? flips? In the middle of the quest, for no reason other than “because plot”.

It’s established that Ningguang cares about two things more than anything— the Jade palace and Mora. Why, then, would she destroy the Jade palace for the sake of Liyue? I get that she’s a good person at heart at all, but I want to see more of her indecision, her brain saying “mora” and her heart saying “Liyue”. The way she just flips on a dime isn’t really strange but it does contradict with her preexisting characterization.

Childe’s Boss Fight!

The section of this quest from Childe’s fight to the Adepti + Qixing battle is just nonstop adrenaline.

Childe is IMO a lot more fun than Dvalin (sorry Dvalin). I’m at WL5 and have a tendency to play fast and loose with important mechanics like.... dodging, for example.... and Childe’s Mask Electro form ended up destroying my team. I killed him with Guoba because everyone else besides Xiangling was dead. I

Another thing I really enjoy about Childe’s boss fight is that in the irrationalities of Childe as a character, it actually makes sense. Genshin is decent at making weekly bosses logical excursions— Andrius wants you to get stronger, Dvalin’s weekly fight is ~~all a dream~~; but tbh sometimes the weekly bosses don’t make sense. Andrius wants to train us, not murder us! How does dvalin, a dream slash memory that doesn’t exist, manage to knock someone out?

Childe as a weekly boss actually makes perfect sense. He’s an adrenaline junkie addicted to the thrill of fighting people— to put this in modern AU terms, he’s the guy who’s first in line to ride the rollercoaster that failed all of its health and safety checks. Childe wants to befriend the Traveler entirely because they’re stronger than him, so that he can fight them over and over again until he’s the strongest. Of course, this will never happen, because the Traveler is the MC and therefore is stronger than all others. However, in this way Childe being a repeatable boss makes 100% perfect sense— he actually wants to fight the Traveler again and again and again.

The one question I have about Childe is how in the living feck are the Fatui letting him join the Traveler and fight for them *against the Fatui*??? I think this might be touched on in Childe’s Story quest, which I’ll do in a bit, but like????? They let him keep his delusion and just walk over to Aether like “aight fam I’m on your team now”? How?

Jade Chamber/ Guizhong Ballista vs Sea Monster Fight!!

Basically, all my charged adrenaline from nearly dying to Childe just came to a head in this one huge fantastic fight.

And Xiao :)

I absolutely loved seeing the Adepti and the Qixing work together. This fight was probably my favorite fight in the whole game— the music was amazing (soundtrack where), the graphics were so nice, the adepti were so feckin cool, using everyone’s abilities was n I ce. My adrenaline was reaching its highest point at this fight and it was just perfect. It was just so fecking fun after days of WL5 pain, having to pop like five ultimates to kill one hillichurl, to be able to just demolish swathes of enemies with Fischl and Diluc, run around like a madman thanks to Xiao, have infinite health idr who did that for me but bless them, just absolutely destroy.

Ever since I hit WL5 I haven’t been able to really just go insane during a fight and stop caring about HP/ when to use skills/ dodging and this have me that opportunity.

Zhongli’s Deal

*punches Zhongli across the room with the power of being the player character* I love this man so much.

Zhongli Zhongli Zhongli Zhongli Zhongli. I AM VERY ANGRY AT HOW THE PLOT RESOLVED HIS STORYLINE. But it also makes a lot of sense. And I think, for once, Zhongli should be allowed to be selfish.

Because choosing to leave Liyue was a bit selfish. He’s leaving the country that adores him, loves him, gives him shit for free; to its own devices and then to a completely unknown fate once the new Geo Archon becomes god and takes over. But he made a frankly fantastic plan and can now leave the country, for now, in peace.

I was absolutely delighted to see Zhongli in Morax form. Making deals with La Signora, being a complete and utter puppet master who set this entire situation up and played Childe like a kazoo; but just like his dear friend Venti, I think Zhongli is happier when he’s just Zhongli, the eccentric mortal. He seems so much happier and so much more relaxed when he’s forgetting about mora and eating dinner with Aether and Paimon. Rex Lapis might have just put Liyue through the wringer, but he can now put down his 3000- year long reign and just be the happy, eccentric Zhongli.

Zhongli’s little bit of insecurity over being a “bourgeois parasite” makes perfect sense now— he doesn’t want to be seen as Morax, a superfluous god who’s using his name to get whatever he wants from the humans he watches over.

But also the part of my brain that feeds off lore nEEDS to KNOW what Zhongli got from Tsaritsa. What could be worth a gnosis? His own happiness isn’t enough— Tsaritsa is likely going to use his gnosis to try and destroy Liyue. What could be worth that?

My main thought would be either “someone’s protection” or “another gnosis”, but I don’t think the latter is possible. The former could be possible but doesn’t really make sense either— a) whose protection is worth putting an entire country, much less the world, in danger and b) the Fatui are out to kill everyone who isn’t Fatui, so they won’t agree to spare a major player in the war to come like that. Brain go brrr.

I’m very hyped for Zhongli’s story quest, which I think is coming with his banner on Dec 1, when Childe’s banner ends. I really hope that Zhongli visits Mondstadt and chills with Venti for a while, but anything with this guy would be fine lol.

LORE

We got a lot of lore this update and I am delighted by it.

Firstly, we get a tiny hint of how Visions are bestowed— “if a person shows true strength of will at a desperate and fateful moment in their life, the gods will look upon them with favor.” Vague but more than we had before.

Next we got some neat lore about Inazuma— firstly, that it’s led by a god named Baal and secondly that it steals everyone’s visions. I’m very hyped to visit because guess what fam aether doesn’t have a vision.

Final Thoughts

In case you can’t tell from my insane ramblings, I loved Chapter 1 Act 3 and I absolutely cannot wait to play through Childe’s story quest and Chapter 2 and beyond.

The Prologue in Mondstadt set the stage for Genshin. We started out in a fantasy environment with a fantasy tale of an immortal bard and a dragon. Mondstadt was an excellent introduction to the world of Genshin.

And now? We’re starting to build on that. Chapter 1 brings us another story of another god and their relationship with the country they watch over. Liyue is much less of a traditional fantasy setting and takes the darkness we saw in Mondstadt— a friendship ruined by manipulation and suffering— and build on it. Now we don’t just see the Fatui more often but we also see more of the Treasure Hoarders and the way both groups kidnap and experiment on humans.

Mond started to introduce us to the Fatui, but Liyue is where they really start bringing continuous plot relevance. Inversely, we saw much more of the Abyss Order in Mondstadt than we did in Liyue. I’m extremely disappointed we didn’t see any more of the Princess this chapter, but it makes sense given that Chapter 1 was really more about the Fatui than the Abyss Order.

All I’m trying to say is the Liyue arc was an excellent continuation to the stage Mondstadt’s arc set. Now, we’re on to the world of the Eternal Shogun, Baal! I’m really excited to meet new characters and experience new stories of Inazuma, but I hope we’ll continue to see Mondstadt and Liyue in the future. Mondstadt is likely going to be the most “boring” of the countries we experience, cuz it’s just so classically fantasy- themed, but it will always be the first country we explored in this world.

After Inazuma (if I had to take a shot in the dark, inazuma’s arc will take from December 23 to maybe March or April) we’ll go to Sumeru, which I am really extremely hyped for because it sounds extremely different from Mond and Liyue and we’ll meet Cyno and possibly even Collei! (just me extrapolating lol). I can’t wait to see where Genshin Impact goes story- wise, because its first major update has brought so much to the table.

Scaramouche- won’t come until at least 3.0. He’s more likely to come towards the end of it, so 3.6 is my guess

Arlecinno- he might be the Fatui guy for Sumeru so he could have a banner in it, but he could also have a Scaramouche complex where just appears and doesn’t have a banner for a LONG time

Yelen- no idea. Maybe a 3.0 Liyue character

Cyno- Similarly to how Ayaka was our Inazuma demo character, and was our first Inazuma banner, I think Cyno might play the same role. However, I’m not totally sure how that would work out because Cyno could be a 4*, and the Mondstadt and Liyue demo characters were not their first banner (granted, one is a four star, and the other is a standard banner 5* and they were both on release)

Dendro

Dendro is currently in testing, and they have some of their reactions in the game, so dendro could be close, but if it gets delayed again, then the second banner may be a Liyue rerun

IF dendro comes in 2.6, and Yaoyao is our free character, she probably won’t immediately be on the banners, and we would have to wait until at least 2.7 phase 2 or 3.0 for her to be in any banners

Dendro SHOULD be coming soon because 2 is meant to wrap up with 7, and it would be weird to enter a country with an element we can’t use.

2.6 seems most likely so that that way players can grow accustomed to the new element, as well as the developers can make changes in 2.7 if they need too

New elements

Dain’s

I believe our free character for Dain’s element (which I’ll call cosmo for the time being) maybe Collie from the manga. This is just a theory though, don’t quote me on that

If that’s the case, Dain my also be available sooner than we expected. That partially may depend on the Abyss’ and Celestia’s relevancy to Sumeru

The reason I think Collie is Cosmo, is just because her powers smell like mist grass, which comes from cinic mages, which are from the fatui, who have close ties to the abyss, which is connected to Khaenri’ah. It’s a stretch I know

Celestia’s

(Calling it Magi for now) people have been speculating an element from Celestia, and I don’t think it would be completely out the blue for that to happen, especially since we’re still waiting on dendro and cosmo

I don’t have any ideas who our free magi character would be, mostly because this element hasn’t even been dropped. It’s just a widely speculated topic amongst the meta game community
