Ruben was nervous that he just offended Riz with the question, seeing as the goblin looked up at him with a piercing glance, but then he remembered that’s just how Riz looks at everyone. Riz sighed and put his hands together, resting his chin on them as he leaned forward onto his desk. “Do you remember Penelope Everpetal or Dayne Blade?” 

“Uh, vaguely? They were seniors when we were freshmen, right?”

“Yep. And they fought us, and they died, and they didn’t get brought back.” 

“Right…”

“Ragh also fought us, and also died, and we did bring him back.”

“OK… so um, what was the difference there?”

“Not much of one.” Riz said flatly. 

Ruben blinked. “Huh?”

Dayne’s choice was to kill innocent people or not and he followed every direction to a T and knew what it all entailed. Ok so my biggest hc here not only re:this ship but also in general to the rockafire is that Earl is. Not actually a puppet lol??? But yeah my hc is that he's like. A monster type dude similar to Mr Munch basically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ like in general my hcs for the rockafire rely a bit on their world running on magical realism rules, where ppl see things that we'd think Odd as ordinary. Like random furry monsters just existing lol. But anyways. Continuing w that, Earl's Specific Brand Of Creature™ is just naturally tiny and light, ergo why Rolfe can just. Swing him around like that 😭 also as I mentioned in this fic, he's also very feline like and can purr, among other things!!! Going onto the shippy aspect, as i wrote on the afromentioned fic, Earl's purring is one sure fire way to calm Rolfe down if he's having a hard time 💖💖 the downsize tho is that Earl doesn't like doing it in public :/ so it's really a thing just for the two of them

(Eventually Earl becomes trusting enough to do it around the rest of the band, but everytime he realizes he's doing it he threatens them to not go around saying it. They all agree but tbf its like an open secret at this point 😭)

Anyways, all this to say Earl had a Whole life before meeting Rolfe. And i think they had a Very Funny meet 'cute' where Earl was like. A server at a comedy club Rolfe decided to do stand up at (i think its funny if Rolfe used to do stand up by himself and SUCKED at it) and Rolfe was so bad even Earl started heckling him while waiting tables and Rolfe was SO offended bc what does this lowlife server know about comedy??? So they started to trade barbs back and forth and everyone else in the club thought it was HILARIOUS and even some ppl started wondering if it was all part of some Really Funny Bit and they had agreed to do this beforehand but. No lmao they literally just Have Chemistry when it comes to comedy. Anyways eventually Rolfe's time ran out and he was thinking like 'oh great i wasted my whole time fighting with this rando i'm gonna get booed off again-' but nah fam he was cheered on bc the fight was HILARIOUS. Rolfe wondered wtf was up but when he noticed ppl praising a very confused Earl he wised up about it and asked him if he wanted to do an act together and. Earl said No. So Rolfe just began going to the club to BEG Earl to be on his act it was High Key Pathetic 😭 but Earl did eventually agree (mostly bc word spread out abt the funny 'comedian vs server' act and the club threatened to fire Earl if he didn't do it again :'D) so yeah they eventually began hanging out outside the club, at first just to keep working on their act but eventually they started liking each others company. Like they Don't Agree with each other in a BUNCH of stuff but they could Argue about it in a fun way and they both enjoyed it. And when they Did agree it was also fun like they could talk for HOURS.

Yeah the thing is, living together and being close as they were eventually their feelings wandered into a more Flirty spot and (without quite meaning to) they began putting into their act to the point everyone was like 🤨🏳️‍🌈❓️ at them. And the club owners turned out to be... pretty fucking homophobic!!! So one day they were just like 'we know what you are' and dead up fired them. Probably called them some slurs on their way out too 😭 and the funny thing is Rolfe and Earl hadn't even NOTICED they were being flirty with each other so they were SHOOKED and frankly very fucking pissed off. They just made it back into their apartment like

Another thing that def helped their bond it's that they were both deeply lonely people and had like No Friends??? So in my hc Rolfe had a pretty awful home life and grew up Very Isolated so yeah. His social skills consisted on acting like he was better than anyone else then being Shocked when that resulted in ppl finding him annoying. And Earl once again i have a Whole Headcanon but tl;dr is that he's from Argentina (like me hi i like projecting 👋) and back then thing's were... Not Great™ so he had to leave and rebuild his life somewhere else and it was HARD and he was also Grumpy about having to move in the first place so yeah 😬 suddenly tho they found each other and become Close Acquaintes, maybe even Friends??? Dare i say even Close Friends??? It got to the point that they decided to move in together to save up on rent and work more on their act and stuff. And they were Pretty Good at it too!!! Everything was going well... maybe too well...

I do think they didn't sit down to discuss the Terms of their relationship until MUCH later, so they never really called each themselves boyfriends or anything. They just had an Unspoken Thing™ and they figured it out as they went.

Anyways, they stayed in that town for a while and began doing their act at different clubs (changing it as they went from 'server vs comedian' to 'audience member vs comedian' bc several clubs weren't willing to let Earl act as if he worked there) but the past club owners kept spreading rumors abt them so eventually no club in town would take them :/ so they decided 'actually fuck this town' and just. Got into a van to go around the country as a traveling act. And they did very well!!!! They def had their ups and downs but it was mostly positives. At one point they ended in a club that had a STRICT 'the comedians must stay only on stage' that they weren't told about until last second so they had to change their WHOLE act with a few minutes to spare.

Rolfe and Wolfman had a pretty emotional encounter and Earl decided it was better if they stayed 'just for a while'. Before they knew it they were helping Wolfman's bestie (Fatz) on making a new band since the WP5 was breaking up and they had a whole STAGE for themselves and yknow what maybe they could stay for a while longer...

3 years and a shared house later: Wait shit. We're Attached now.

ANYWAYS this thing devolved into a whole origin story huh 😭 lemme drop some actual hcs here real quick

Rolfe is older than Earl by like 2 yrs (i usually write Rolfe as 37 and Earl as 35, for reference)

Rolfe is the most physically affectionate of the two, he has an habit of getting Affection Zommies™ (term coined by my girlfriend) and just. Picking up Earl to cuddle him or squeeze him or nuzzle him 🥹 and Earl just rolls with it like "oh i'm being pick up. Ok then." It's like the meme of 'came home drunk last night and got too happy to see my cat' yknow

They both smoke, but Rolfe smokes those v long and 'softer' ones while Earl smokes a heavier type (Earl probably smokes weed too on accasion). Anyways, point is, they 100% do that 'leaning really close to light up their cig with the one their partner is smoking' thing like. ALL THE TIME. And everyone thinks they're being romantic but in reality they started doing it to make their lighters last longer 😭

They lowkey have a ratatouille style system to cooking?? Like Rolfe is ok at cooking but NEEDS the recipe. On the flipside Earl has a hard time cooking bc of his side but he just Gets cooking like he can eyeball and improv things and ends up with fantastic stuff. So what they usually do is Rolfe cooks while Earl watches him and gives him indications. And yes, their system works

They're both v good with children!!! And actually like them!!! It wasn't a huge sacrifice for them to change their act to make it more kid friendly. They're also not bad babysitters.

Rolfe loves sewing and clothing design and the like. It can be hard to find stuff Earl's size, so he'll sometimes make him clothes

(Half the time is stuff not really Earl's style but is the thought that counts?)

Rolfe LOVES Earl's voice he thinks he's the best singer in the band and is constantly trying to get him more songs. Earl himself doesn't think he's that good, but he does like to sing and has fun w it so he's also not complaining.

Even tho they usually write their skits beforehand, they're also p good at improv if things go wrong. For ex. the Frank Sinatra skit was meant to have a different ending where the song went without an hitch, but then Technical Difficulties happened and they had to run with it

Earl wont admit it but he genuinaly likes how soft and fluffy Rolfe is.... world hard and cold, fur soft and warm ( ⸝⸝´��`⸝⸝)

On that note, Earl has an habit of kneading on Rolfe without meaning to (cat-like creature babeeeeyyy). Rolfe feels flattered every time it happens so he doesn't say anything, even if he might ocasionally get Poked at by claws (yes Earl has retractile claws)

I said this earlier, but Rolfe's parents are pretty garbage. They keep sending Rolfe letters trying to guilt him into taking care of them (send them money), and they can cause Rolfe to spiral. Earl's solution is to check for them constantly and shred them whenever he sees them. He just takes his claws to them and goes wild

If Earl ever meets Rolfe's parents, heads will roll

They're both also very aware of each other's issues/trauma, since they were all they had for a while they ended up accidentally trauma dumping on each other early on.

Yknow that one trope where the tall partner lets stuff in high shelves so the short one has to ask them for help? Yeah Rolfe's the complete opposite. He tries makes sure everything is accesible to Earl, esp if it's stuff he uses constantly

They're both pretty early risers, with the difference Rolfe also has an habit of staying up late. As a result, Rolfe is usually a zombie in the mornings before he gets his caffeine dose. Earl ends up trying to make sure he doesn't get himself hurt by running into walls or smthn

ari and dante movie things (spoilers):

CRUEL CRUEL WORLD for omitting both "I will love you forever, Aristotle Mendoza" and "I love swimming. I love swimming...and you."

I get that a lot of the more homoerotic aspects of Ari and Dante's early friendship were left out in order to preserve the surprise of the ending and keep it a question of if they'd get together but some of those moments were really great ok. And I don't think they needed to tone down Dante's crush on Ari later on, after Chicago, when he's pretty open about it.

Absolute worst change was the moments after they first kiss. Ari would never say those things. He hates his own sexuality, but he never hates Dante's. He may sometimes be awful to Dante because of how Dante makes him feel but he wouldn't lash out in blatantly homophobic ways because of it, he'd just retreat and be mad at himself (and a little at Dante). I really can't get behind this at all.

I liked the inclusion of Ophelia more, that made the end less unexpected. Unsure why she was at the New Year's party with all the family though unless they were neighbours and stuff and not family? (Except Ari's sisters, obviously.)

Including the Bernardo reveal so early was fine except for it makes sense way more after Ari fights Julian. His parents show him the Bernardo stuff because they're afraid of what they see in Ari and how their collective silence makes everyone suffer. Ari is then horrified by everything and realizes how his violence has affected his family. Vs in the movie it's sort of just swept aside as we move onto the Dante of it all.

Also I guess it helped the exposition right at the start to have a photo of Ari with Bernardo but it was such a big point of the book that no one in the family had photos of him anywhere and that hurt Ari and so it's so nice when he takes one to put up and his parents want to put it up where everyone can see it. That was just such a really nice moment and only adding two lines could have made it happen in the movie too so I don't see why not.

Ari's dad doesn't talk really and I guess that was cut for time. I get that had to happen some places, fine. It just makes their "we're talking. Everything's better." far less of a victory since it seems like a one-off thing before they retreat into a slightly easier silence, rather than them fundamentally understanding each other better and understanding how to reach out and communicate, which is how they end things in the book. There you know they'll be OK and talk lots more.

The first scene with the bird, where the boys are shooting it with BB guns was cut also for time and mostly that was fine except for how it removed the part where Dante finds out Ari likes to fight. Which is an important revelation for Dante to have.

Why was Ileana's name changed? That was so unnecessary and Ileana is a beautiful name.

Basically everything with the parents was cut down to the point that they were all pretty 2D characters and I missed them and their friendships with each other and Ari and I guess there just wasn't time but oh what could have been.

DANTE'S GAY-ASS OUTFITS WERE EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING, OK.

Gina and Suzie suffered the same "cut down for time" treatment as everyone else but I missed them also.

I'm not sure how they could have shown it since the whole part is so internal but with the bit where Ari thinks he hates Dante, that was pretty important and they just sort of skipped it. It's a really interesting way to show how internalized homophobia can manifest.

I appreciate that the trans woman mentioned was clearly explained to be a trans woman in a way that made sense for the characters (teenagers fairly uneducated on the topic, in the 80s) but didn't use language now considered offensive and didn't misgender her.

Visually, things were lovely.

Swimming criticism: the second day Ari and Dante go swimming, so after two days of lessons, the previous day on which he learned a back float, Ari races underwater by doing whip kick. No way he'd be able to do whip kick that fast. No one even teaches it that early on, not even random kids who have no official teaching backgrounds.

I always feel in the book like Ari and Dante read a bit young for their age the first summer. That didn't really feel like it was the case here, so that was nice.

It was kind of funny when Dante and co. come back from Chicago and are all "oh my god Ari you look so different" and he looks exactly the same.

There's not so much with Legs and how boys need dogs and dogs are one of the secrets of the universe etc.. I like that stuff.

I did notice all the other bits cut for time and I did miss them all.

Pride and Prejudice and Pittsburgh by Rachel Lippincott -- a Review

My Rating 

Honestly, I’d give this book an 8.7/10; I really enjoyed it. As soon as I read the back of the book, I was hooked. A time travel romance with miscommunication?? Umm.. yes sign me up!! I loved how it switched from Lucy and Audrey’s perspectives, especially because both of our main characters were experiencing something so new, in many different ways, not just time travel. I do wish that the miscommunication went on for a little longer, but I enjoy the hurt-comfort aspect of the book. 

Overview

Audrey Cameron is an artist who lost her inspiration after a breakup. She has been in an artistic standstill for a while now. She spends her time working at her parent's convenience store in Pittsburgh, when a regular customer, Mr. Montgomery comes in saying he can help her. What she didn’t know though, is he meant sending her back in time to 1812; becoming the main character in a Regency Romance. 

Lucy Sinclair is the daughter of a wealthy businessman, who is trying to secure her marriage to the most wealthy man in England. Locking her in a loveless marriage, and a boring life; that is, until a strange girl appears on the field of her family’s estate when her father left on a business trip. 

While the two girls are together, trying to navigate their new life together and understand what has happened, a spark is born. Both are trying desperately to fall in love with their suitors and live the life everyone wants them to. Until they fall for each other. 

My Thoughts 

I read this entire book in 9 hours, I could not put it down. It was so good! It did not take long for me to get into the plot, there was comedy, heartbreak, embarrassment and of course romance. The ending? Wow, that was stressful. Like on the edge of my seat, book gripping, can’t look away, kind of stressful. 

I did find it annoying how perfect the world was. I know it's a historical fantasy, however, Lucy comments how “this is not accepted here”, but there were so many people that they met in 1812 who were accepting or understanding. It was a little unrealistic, I mean, I know queer people find other queer people, like how a pig finds truffles. But it was a little too perfect. I wish they had to navigate their love life a little more or for Lucy to have a little more turmoil with realizing she is a lesbian. Other than that, amazing!

Growing up bisexual, I always knew I liked both men and women, but it wasn’t until the last few years I became comfortable with my sexuality. I realized I made myself prefer men and go on dates with men because of my internalized homophobia and heteronormativity. Growing up Christian aslo didn’t help this, although my immediate family is ok with me being queer, I always heard how it's a sin from people at church, or how my uncle was shamed from the family because he married a man. I can relate to both the main characters in this respect. Lucy was born in 1794, it was hardly a time when women went to school, let alone kiss another girl and get away with it. She has the confliction of, ‘I have to be with a man because that is what society says’ and ‘I’ve never felt anything for a man and I would like to kiss a girl’. Later this causes some internal turmoil later on when she becomes aware of her feelings for Audrey. And for Audrey, who is from 2023, where she had crushes on both boys and girls, she was not as ashamed or confused by her feelings. But it was easier to be with a guy rather than being with a girl. Because sure, queerness is accepted today, but not by everyone, which is scary. 

Audrey also falls into heteronormativity, it can be easier than really exploring your feelings and facing the world where you are no longer part of the accepted norm. Heteronormativity for those who don’t know is: The assumption that everyone is heterosexual and that heterosexuality is superior to all other sexualities. This includes the often implicitly held idea that heterosexuality is the norm and that other sexualities are “different” or “abnormal.”. It is easier to fall into the social norm, rather than challenge it. Rachel Lippincott explains it really well in Audrey's realization of her feelings, “I’ve never been with a girl before. I’ve had crushes, sure, … And then I was with Charlie, and I could almost… avoid it entirely if I wanted to. Tuck it away into a neat little box; convincing myself it wasn’t a part of myself I really needed to explore.”. Many people feel this way, this is why most queer women and/or transmen go through a period of hyperfeminity, where they try to convince themselves and others that they are straight and/or cis, they can conform to society and live how the world wants them to live, love who they should love. Hyperfeminity for those who don’t know is: the exaggeration of stereotypically female behaviour, based on so-called gender roles. This can be seen in the way they dress, behave or how they pursue relationships. 

I will be honest, I am someone who doesn’t believe in the whole idea of true love, nor do I really understand how love works. This probably has something to do with me being asexual and aromantic… anyway, I had been asking people around me what love is, and why people put effort into something that will most likely fall apart or only cause pain when it ends. I feel like the universe put this book in my way because I was instantly bitch-slapped with an answer to my questions. Which brings me to another reason why I enjoyed this book. It made me understand love a little more, without making me feel pessimistic about my own love life. As Mr. Montgomery told Audrey, who was becoming much like me after her failed relationship, he says “There’s just as much heartbreak in not putting yourself out there, because it guarantees you’re going to miss out. And I’m not just talking about love … Just because you got hurt once by the wrong person doesn’t mean it’ll happen again if you find the right one.” and later on James, a suitor turned friend, says “Sometimes I reckon, love — real love —doesn’t care about what’s proper or what other people think. It finds you when you least expect it, where you least expect it”. Even though love is confusing and you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean that you are any less deserving of it. Even if it ends in failure, and it can lead to pain, at least you loved. I feel this book has helped me grow and understand, that not everything has to be perfect, which is a lesson I have been trying to learn for years now and will continue to learn. Mr. Montgomery later says “But even true love doesn’t come without pain, without risk. And that doesn’t make it something to run from or leave behind. It can be scary, and unexpected… but when it is with the right person. It’s worth it.”.

Conclusion

As the book progressed, it was so irritating seeing Audrey and Lucy misunderstand each other, and I loved every second of it. For most of the book they are pining for each other, it is very much a slow burn. When they finally get together, it is so good!!! There is the beginnings of a sex scene but it’s fade to black, and it doesn’t go into much detail. Remember this is still a YA book. I would have loved for it to have been written as an adult and be able to explore a more mature storyline and themes, but it still works very well as a YA. 

Genuinely, if you like miscommunication, historical, slow-burn lesbians, you will love this book. It's like if Bridgerton had time travel lesbians and a meddling old man turned matchmaker.  Read it!!

I just hope I will live to that day when they will come out and we will witness it all.

I'm going to answer you all together since this is a topic we've covered before.

Harry and Louis are a team. They make decisions together, share a home and share their wealth and their sorrows. Harry's success is shared with Louis and vice versa. Harry wouldn't be where he is right now without Louis and vice versa. They both have their roles to play.

A coming out would benefit both of them. They are something more than the two individuals put together when they're together. The brand deals, the book deals, the film that's going to be made about them and the magazine covers etc. will benefit the both of them. A magazine cover with the both of them on will sell better than a magazine cover with only Harry on.

Like i've said before, before they both come out we need to have a seeding period so people can get used to the idea and get onboard and see how cute and in love they are. If done right they won't lose many fans, but they'll gain a lot. Harry's fans have grown up with him. They're not 8 years old anymore. They won't ditch him and stop buying his albums and go to his tour if he comes out and reveals his relationship with Louis. Harries have heard about larry. Harries have seen Harry on stage in a glittery jumpsuit singing Medicine, waving pride flags and helping fans come out of the closet. He's played a gay closeted man on film. If they're homophobic they would have ditched him a long time ago. They can continue to project onto him even if he's gay. I think we need to also count the new fans he'll get from the lgbtqai+ community and from the attention they'll get from the conspiracy being revealed as true. I think they'll gain more fans than they'll lose. Who wouldn't want to read about the lovestory of Larry Stylinson written from they own pow by themselves. It's dramatic and juicy. A secret love with good guys fighting the bad. The ups and downs. Deaths and weddings. Even antis would buy the book and watch the film and see the documentary.

When it comes to Louis he needs image rehab and a bit more good media exposure. He needs to show he's not homophobic, that he's actually friends with Harry and support him and he needs to change his laddy and macho image and act more himself. I think ending bg will help immensely in creating a better image. He'll gain so much sympathy from the gp. People already have sympathy for him bc of his mom and sister. They'll be thrilled that he's found happiness after all that misfortune. Losing a mother, sister, and now his kid isn't his after all?

To raise his profile a bit, even though he's already well known, they can do what they do to Harry's stunt girls. If he's seen hanging out with H we'll get "Who is Louis Tomlinson" articles. We'll get pap pictures, and Louis being invited to events with H etc. So when they do come out, people will know the both of them. I saw a post in Korean on twitter that said something like "no matter how much I think about it, there has to be something more to Taiga's admiration of Kazuki." and I didn't feel like I should reply to them because it would absolutely get lost in translation, but I wrote up a post that I put in my circle instead. This is that post, if anyone is interested? This is probably the most character analysis I've done in my entire life lmao.

I think it would be disrespectful for me to randomly reply to this person, but I extremely want to reply "Of course there is [something more to his admiration], he's gay!" There's no world where Taiga isn't gay coded! Other than Louis he's the most gay character in King of Prism! Now I'm going to explain why I think this. :D

I know the 10? people in my twitter circle will not read this and not care, but it's important! Taiga is gay! Taiga's entire backstory is that when he was a child he met a street dancer who was really nice to him, and fell madly in love with him. It was his first childhood crush.

Later in life he finds out the performer became a famous celebrity, and he changes the course of his life to follow in his crushes footsteps. He's known for buying Kazuki's merch, and even wears his buttons on his uniform every single day.

There's plot and stuff I don't want to get into, but once he becomes a fellow student with Kazuki he makes it his mission to protect him. He puts himself in harms way for Kazuki, all the while continuing to look up to him and do his best to make him proud.

The two's birthdays are one day apart, and during Taiga's own birthday song for the game he wishes a happy birthday to Kazuki instead of himself! Like ??????????

But ok maybe you think, that's not gay he just idolizes Kazuki. Well maybe it was that, until SSS came around.

In SSS Taiga admits most of this backstory while naked in a bath with his friends, and when he realizes what he said he makes this fucking blushy face and freaks out.

Idk bro this is GAY PANIC if I've ever seen it.

BUT IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH! This episode ends with Taiga having a confrontation with Kazuki, where all his friends encourage him to "Tell him your feelings." Taiga starts, but hesitates too much and loses his opportunity.

And that would be all, except in King of Prism: All Stars they run a call and response section where the audience repeats some of Taiga's famous lines. As a funny moment they added an alternative version of that scene, where TAIGA ACTUALLY CONFESSES.

Now I'm American, and I'm a gay man who specifically imagines all the characters in the media he likes as gay, but you can't tell me that this situation shouldn't be read as "they can't directly say he's in love with Kazuki, the show would be canceled."

Gooooood where to begin. I am the only person who knows Obi-Wan and Luke Skywalker. When people reduce Luke down to "dumb, naive, sunshine boy" it makes me mad. Yes, that is a big part of his character, and may even be most of his character in ANH, but you don't get Luke unless you understand his more mature and dangerous side. Yes, Luke is generally the optimist to Leia's realism, but I believe that is a choice Luke makes. Remember, Luke grew up on Tatooine, so he can't be entirely innocent. Luke knew how to take care of business with Jabba. If you reduce him down to dumb sunshine I feel you take away from the character.

Booktok authors WISH they had this level of skill. It's amazing and should be turned into a novel. All of the above fics are on AO3, go check them out and show them some love!

I was brushing my teeth, reflecting about life, & my mind went back to AFTG and there is a scene on the first book that it has been stuck on my brain since I read the trilogy again this January and it's about Seth. Now, I know the fandom -in general- barely talk about Seth because Nora decided to kill him off for shock value and when people try to talk about him, it always comes back to 'he was a homophobic, disgusting piece of shit' which yes, valid but also, are we forgetting Aaron? The babyfication of Aaron in this fandom had everyone collectively forgetting he was exactly like Seth (even worse: towards his family!!!). Two wrongs doesn't make one right & I'm in no way justifying Seth's action but if we never talk about characters on AFTG just because they were problematic, we are not talking about any of them, ever (ok maybe some of them, but still).

My point is: the scene. Neil is confused as to why Seth hates Kevin -specifically him- so much, since Seth could get along with most people if he wanted and tried hard enough but he refused to give ground to Kevin & his answer is just so humanly heartbreaking it goes to my list of moments Nora did something right in AFTG. The scene goes like this:

Seth: His life is not more important than mine just because he's more talented.

Neil first instinct is to say jealousy because jealousy is something he understands (he felt jealous of Kevin for having a future, for being able to play, for the talent, for the life he never got to live when his mother ran away, etc.) but for me what Seth is trying to portrait is more like the painful awareness that you get when you realize you're also worthy of love and care. Seth is such an unexplored character who had so much potential if Nora hadn't killed him for the sake of showing how Riko could be/was dangerous (and she could have done that in so many different ways!!!) & you can see that on, for example, Nora's post about his life. Seth was always the no-priority person, the kid no one payed attention to, the boy that if killed, not even his mother would come for the funeral. He was every aspect a Fox and he spent his entire life being told he was no one and to be able to say his life is not more important than mine shows so much development; the chance he had put on himself for being open to love, to care, to second and third chances... it was all there. It breaks my heart that he never got the chance to become something. & I do not believe he was an inherently bad person? They are so young in AFTG, all of them. Maybe Seth wasn't bad; maybe he was just twenty-two, you know?

& on the extra content when they tell Allison he died and she goes 'He called me not even an hour ago! He was drunk and rambling but he was happy for the first time in weeks. He was talking about how he finally thought graduating would be okay, about how he wanted me to help him look into grad schools. He wanted to go into social work and help people like he helps us. I know he wanted to die! Everyone knows he wanted to die! Every time he said he was done with life I walked away from him and every time he came chasing after me. This is the first time--he wanted to live.' breaks my heart.

Because, ok, Seth dies. Let's pretend it was a good idea for him to die to set some sort of impact on the story for a second. Except his death goes without much fuss. The shock Nora wanted is felt for maybe three seconds, in one paragraph in the last page of TFC and then we barely talk about Seth on TRK and TKM. Neil can't even understand how impactful was Seth's death - he only cares about how it will affect the game & his guilt is more about how Allison would feel towards him then sadness over losing a teammate - and this insight we get from Allison is from the extra content and not everyone goes on to read those so if Nora wanted something out of his death - pity, shock, sadness, or whatever - she should have put this scene IN THE BOOKS.

If you still want to stay in contact with them, he won’t try to stop you but he’s not going to encourage it. He can’t understand why you would put yourself through that, even though they are still your parents.

Anytime you need someone to cry to, he’s right there with a box of tissues. Even if it seems like an endless cycle, he won’t get angry with you. Not ever! It’s not like it’s your fault in any way, after all.

If they’re upset with you for dating Alfred, another man, he’s gonna feel a little guilty. But also more vindicated in constantly asking to come along when you see them. Let them see how happy you two are! That’ll show ‘em! (It won’t.)

But regardless of the reason, he’s going to try to always be around when you talk to them. If they’re so worried about seeming like good parents, perhaps they’ll remain on their good behaviour with him around.

When he first started dating you, he’d often brush off any problems you have with your parents. After all, they’re fine most of the time, right? But as time goes on, he’ll learn to want to strangle them. A couple of mistakes is understandable, but this many?! Over and over again?!

As soon as you tell Ludwig what your parents have done to you over the years, he’s going to urge you to distance yourself as much as possible. He’s seriously worried, not just for safety, but for your mental state. He can’t imagine going through that… from a damn parent!

Although he’ll always be there to comfort you, he can’t help but try to take a more proactive approach. If you really are dedicated to remaining connected with your parents, he’ll do everything he can to help you improve your relationship. Even if he thinks it’s a lost cause…

If they’re homophobic as well, he’s well-versed in defending your relationship. He has hours of reasoning and logic ready to make them feel like idiots; but unfortunately, that kind of hate isn’t that rational. You’re better off just leaving.

Whatever you decide, he’ll support you. Although he may seem tired of your endless cycle of parental problems, it’s really just because he cares about you so much. Thank god he had some extra clothes back at the office, and he was able to change when get finally got into work. As soon as he walked in his boss told him that he was being put on a rather high profile case due to his specialty in international law. The nerves started to bubble in his stomach, but it was more of an excited kind of nervousness, he knew those extra classes in L1 were worth it.

Henry Fox was an up and coming author; born and raised in the UK, but gained US citizenship after moving to the States for grad school. His father was a fairly well known stage and film actor in the UK who passed away when he was a teen, and left Henry and his two siblings with a decent amount of inheritance. Not to mention it sounded like Henry's grandmother was a homophobic bigot. In the write up of the pre-interview his boss handed him, that while Henry was gay, Mary was willing to let her grandson have access to his money again as soon as he married. Meaning married to a girl who was probably well connected and possibly a distant cousin. It was this demented kind of emotional abuse that Alex hated with a passion and made his angry queer soul even angrier.

While he'll never lie about his own sexuality, he wasn't completely open about the fact that he was bisexual. He didn't want it to be a distraction to him practicing law. So sure, all but one or two people at the office didn't know that he was part of the alphabet mafia, but his family knew and still loved completely, and that's all that mattered.

The case sounded messy, tired up with bureaucracy and aristocratic bullshit that Alex knew he would have way too much fun tearing apart until Mrs. Downton Abbey was clutching her pearls and crying over her crumpets during afternoon tea. And when she found out that her gay grandson won his case with his bisexual Mexican-American lawyer, well it would just make the win that much better.
