Warhammer 40k AU where the "grimdarkness of the far future" is... just a fictional franchise, that was originally conceived as a cautionary tale against the dangers of bigotry, xenophobia and militarism, but, just like irl, spiraled into an actual franchise. Thanks to technological advancements - they were able to make a ton of shows very quickly.

The actual world is that all races coexist peacefully in the Galaxy. Every single character from canon is actually an actor and the fact that the cast is actually just that (a huge group if actors that work together) lead to some interesting matchups.

Actor!Big E and actor!Malcador are actually long time friends of actor!Eldrad and they are kinda sad their characters and actor!Eldrad's don't have screen time together.

A lot of people think actor!Trazyn doesn't even act - he just continues to be himself on camera. Actor!Orikan hates it, but he can't help but laugh at how he himself starts to act like his character.

Actor!Oltyx and actor!Yenekh are actually married irl. In fact, actor!Oltyx proposed to actor!Yenekh on set after their final scene together. The internet found out about it through actor!Djoseras account (who is actor!Oltyx's irl brother, although actor!Djoseras is actually the younger, unlike his character who is an elder brother), who posted a photo of the proposal with him in the foreground doing a "pointing soyjack" meme. Actor!Oltyx commented on it with "bruh 😭".

Actor!Shadowsun was a long time fan of the show (as in was a total nerd about it) and has a secret AO3 account with a bunch of yaoi fanfics she wrote. She revealed this fact in one of her interviews and ever since then the internet was on the wild hunt for the account.

The 40k IP made a collab with futuristic equivalent of a gacha otome game, where the MC can get and romance Guilliman. Actor!Guilliman and actor!Cawl made a series of videos playing through the collab event (partially as advertisement, partially out of genuine curiosity). The videos consisted of the two either going "yeah, he would say/do that" or "nah, he would not say/do that, he would instead....". The internet suddenly saw a rapid spike in Guilliman x Reader fanfiction.

Actor!Fulgrim was adopted and raised by an Eldar family, so he was REALLY uncomfortable doing Angel Exterminatus. Some changes had to be made to the script because he just refused to go with the original, much brutal version.

Actor!Primarchs did some videos where they would read (PG) fanfictions of their characters. They unknowingly stumbled upon actor!Shadowsun's account and read some of her fics. Actor!Farsight was very confused on why she was behaving very giddy after the videos came out.

Tyranids are actually a (mostly) domesticated species, so all Tyranids on set are either CGI or are real but trained and are just as much of actors as anybody else. They get plenty of treats and pets in-between the scenes for doing such a good job.

This interview was vindication for all the people STILL saying that kaner wanted out and didn’t want to be part of the rebuild. Idk how many more times he needs to say that he wanted and expected to be a hawk for life. Also vindication for all those years ago that people claimed kaner and Jonny weren’t really friends/that close/etc.

i'm genuinely baffled by how many peope are still confidently echoing the whole "kane wanted out" talking point when there's zero evidence of it. like, on the contrary we have brisson saying that 1988 wanted to be hawks for life but weren't offered new contracts and kaner himself saying that he wondered if the hawks would be interested in getting him back after drafting bedard. what else do people need?? the hawks are honestly pretty lucky that kaner didn't say somethign along the lines of "yeah i wish i could have stayed here, i wanted to be a hawks for life" before the hawks won the bedard draft lottery. pretty sure the fanbase at large would have been more pissed about it at that point

and yeah, i absolutely love how kaner and jonny immediately talked about each other once jonny's return was announced. shipping and all that aside, it must be incredibly cool to have such a close bond with somebody where you've shared the same experiences for long enough that you know that this person ~gets you in a way other people don't. the way kaner talked about the entire core (and obvs jonny specifically) was so so nice!

Something that always breaks my heart is how Seunghyun‌ really struggled to accept his own identity. That’s what led to those long depressions and made him keep his distance from Jiyong… he just couldn’t accept his real self. Was scrolling through old blogs and found these two interviews. One from around 2011,( you can tell by his blonde hair and haircut), where he says he’s still going through an identity crisis. Then the next year, 2012, during the Fantastic Baby era, there’s this interview where he says: “Last year, it was a hard year for me. Emotionally.” And if I’m not wrong, that was also when GTOP had emotionally broken up too. (Not totally sure about the timeline tho.)

I just really hope he’s at peace with who he really is now.💔

a) Oh, the 2011 Secret Garden Parody remark was a joke. He was having an "identity crisis" about his sexuality since he had to kiss two boys (liar, you were already dating Ji).

b) The other interview, however, is pretty important. He also spoke about the weight of his persona, as well as how cautious, worried and perfectionist he was becoming, in either the same interview or an interview from about the same time. GTOP weren't emotionally broken up yet, we have some pretty good GTOP moments (but Tabi had been doing some VERY intense filming and had a lot of angsty thoughts and feelings within him, and by his own admission (in a different interview from a slightly different timeframe), he said that he shut a lot of people out because of this pent-up frustation from filming). I linked the interview where he spoke about this yesterday in the post where I tried to explain the Coup D'Etat-making era break-up.

In the same interview, he praises the GD&TOP album, so he probably wasn't emotionally done with Jiyong at all (and the fact that he says "something felt good" and in the past has spoken about his attachment to the GD&TOP album and how he put his heart into it... Yeh idk I feel like he was glad to have Ji with him).

c) It's okay, he turned out just fine. Here's an interview from 2022. He was on the edge of a depressive episode and/or was already having one ending 2012, so his words will ofc worry us all. But yeh, what you feel and say while you have depression isn't representative of what you truly feel about yourself, who you are and what you've achieved. You should read it, it's very positive (and gives me HOPE that we're gonna get an album like "After Hours", which is a clear STORYLINE, which is DOPE! Hopefully it's more positive tho). I explained more in tags fyi :D But in this interview he even said he’d say his younger self to “be more courageous”, which oddly warmed my heart. Cuz it takes acknowledgement and reflection of your actions to come to such a conclusion.

biggest disconnect in pathologic's reception has kind of always been a divide between "patho is driven by mechanics" and "patho is driven by story" camps where opinions only ever come from one of these extremes... around p1's development and release the developers considered it exclusively a survival challenge sim, not a game marketed for its story (despite story representing a huge fraction of the time and thought put into it). In The Society Of Dead Poets goes into so much detail about this. and it WAS a stunning technical work under the circumstances, but the complex story was what gave the franchise cult appeal, or at least enough so for it to get a sequel... reviews from the period tend to go along the lines of "this game looks and plays like shit but it's extremely thought-provoking". there's a little to be said about the mainstream view of a "Gamer" in 2005 and what they would be interested in marketing-wise not tracking with story games yet; anyway, the one-dimensionality here was consistent with the studio's approach to games as a whole (cf BoneHouse.ppt).

so IPL's perception of their work was what informed p2's priorities, which turned out to be A Way Better Survival Challenge at the expense of things like characters having complex motivations (expansion on this has been omitted; iykyk), and they did an incredible job with that & basically perfected what they had been going for mechanically. which created this weird divide where p2 fans think 1 isn't worth playing because it's less engaging as a gaming experience, and p1 fans (me included, to be clear) see 2's story changes as a spit in the face of everything that made the series work. like, neither of these are fundamentally incorrect, but they refer to completely non-overlapping paradigms of engaging with the material. when hopefully it can be agreed that a Video Game is comprised of Both a narrative aspect and an interactive aspect, and that they need to work together to create the player's transformative experience (again, premise of BoneHouse.ppt).

Anyway. that helps explain a lot of hbomb's stance on the franchise, particularly that he can endorse patho2 without comment as an ostensibly leftist youtuber when even the most cursory playthrough is enough to let players in on its gleeful centering of ecofascism... that game's representation of colonial relations as an unfixable divide employing the racist trope of reciprocal violence, its obsession with maintaining status quo, and its completely tasteless approach to MMIW are all elements of Story and thus all secondary to p2's huge improvements on the survival system. in the same vein, his discussion of p1's changeling's route is limited to the constant reputation decrease and the repeated quests because those are the only mechanical features introduced over the previous routes, even while clararoute text is fundamental to understanding most characters... his video isn't like Bad for getting the interactive experience p1 would present to you, but it sucks for engaging with the story because it's not about the story. and unfortunately, on discussion posting websites, we do usually post about story

Who is the Tails Polycule favorite sonic?

So as far as the Prime Polycule au goes, the only Sonic they've met is Prime!Sonic (who in this au is sort of combined with Modern!Sonic and IDW!Sonic). This kind of means that despite being in a polycule there is some lowkey background fighting over Prime Sonic that's inevitable😂😅

As for an version of the au where Sonic variants exist, sadly I haven't yet done too much thinking for potential Sonic variants. But for what I have so far, I'd say just about everyone in the polycule would prefer their own Sonic/Sonic variant

Except for Nine (lol). He prefers Prime!Sonic over the two versions of New Yoke!Sonic that exist in my head (one is a take from an au I've been working on with someone else, and that Sonic is a major dick. the other is from @phantom-fleetways's au, where New Yoke Sonic is basically just a paycheck to paycheck disabled guy living in a bachelor pad)

I'm not an extrovert. At all. In everyday life, I'm a yapper, sure, but I need someone to first assure me I am okay to yap, so I don't start conversations, even when I really want to join in sometimes! It's just the social anxiety acting up. God knows where from and why I lose a lot of my inhibitions when it comes to talking to people about music. I don't know where the confidence has suddenly sprung from. I've made a crazy amount of friends in musical circles, either just talking to people about common music or (since it is after all in music circles) talking to bands about their own music. the screenshot you provided is very clear and yet i cannot trace the words to anything whatsoever! and unfortunately this has happened enough times that i kind of have to ask… should i use a different search engine? or are there journal archives your frequent? and no hurries whatsoever i know this is a big ask… but i would appreciate any help!

oh this one's quick to answer haha I didn't even need to consult my notes - the article's here! the reason it doesn't come up immediately in search engines is that the original article was in italian, so I just threw the first sentence into google translate and. voila

I try to stick to the habit of providing sources and if I made that ranch post now, I would have properly put a list of sources at the bottom of the post lol. if you can't find a quote through a search engine, it's going to generally be for one of the following reasons:

the quote is from an article in a different language, typically italian or spanish (the german publication speedweek also gets used semi-regularly)

the quote is from a book, which I DO try to be extra diligent in providing a citation for that reason

the quote is from an article that is no longer available on the internet. it might be in my notes because I copied it there and, if I'm smart, I will have made sure I can still access the article using the wayback machine (which is sometimes what I use to find things in the first place). if I'm not smart, then my doc becomes the last reservoir of lost knowledge I suppose

the quote is transcribed from a video/podcast

I should also say that my notes aren't perfect since... well, most of them have existed a lot longer than me starting to blog on tumblr about motogp. there is just stuff I'll quickly pull from my lil mind maps or whatever when I post, which is where the 'being too lazy to give a source' thing sometimes comes in. when it's english language articles I'm not too bothered because I know people can find it pretty quickly with the use of a search engine if they are thus inclined; with the other stuff I'm trying to be more diligent. but yeah, unfortunately for three of those there's no great fix - the language one is the only one I can recommend. which, btw, if you're looking to do your own motogp research, this one is absolutely invaluable. there is a lot of stuff I've only found because I started searching for stuff using italian and spanish keywords. hope that helps!

in class today i felt so incredibly out of place again, why does it have to be so hard for me? and, i like this girl, but every single time we have class she mentions her "autism" while happily chatting with 3+ ppl at a time, completely effortless, while im sitting there, staring and trying to focus enough to even understand the conversation bc there is so much noise around me that i feel like i'm about to either explode or shut down completely and i feel like an alien trying my best to somehow socialize and understand what is going on and really to just get through this.
