"Are you sure I'm not hurting you?"
"Y/N, please, stop asking me that."
"Oh, yes. My apologies, Jinshi-sama. Sorry."
This were, admittedly, not going well. Both of you soaked, hair dripping, and standing in the cave behind a rapid waterfall, and a dull ache in your chest as you recovered. Partly your fault, partly the fault of some crazed marksman that was hiding in the forest, trying to slaughter Jinshi and, by proxy, you.
To understand how you two ended up in this situation, we would have to back up a bit.
"Oh? Y/N, I didn't know you'd be attending this as well?"
"It was a last minute switch with Suiren and I."
"You... enjoy these hunts?"
"I've done everything I could to avoid them in the years past."
Your lack of excitement was apparent and clear. It appeared to bring no ease of mind to Maomao who dragged her rather disgusted eyes from you towards Gaoshun. The older man just kept his attention on the moving scenery outside, a distant glaze over his eyes.
Maomao obviously wasn't optimistic. Just like you. You were almost proud that she had caught on so easily.
The sweltering heat outside seemed to seep into the carriage, cooking you alive in your rather formal wear. Something that you were spotted in far and few, having been years that you truly cleaned yourself prim and proper. You had been on the edge of declining even going when Jinshi, with a grin and a certain glitter in his eyes, had too happily informed you that it was a direct invitation from Shishou.
Your fate had been sealed.
Maomao peeked at you from the corner of her eye, head tilted, "Do you mind me asking why you avoided these events?"
You don't even spare her a glance, "I fear if I spoke my honest opinion, I'd stain Jinshi-sama's reputable name with my foul mouth." You reply flatly in return.
"Please don't." Gaoshun said softly from his seat, looking particularly tired.
You decided to ignore the slump of Maomao's shoulders as if disappointed by the swift interruption and decline on Gaoshun's part. Turning your eyes towards the shifting world outside.
It'd been exactly five months since Jinshi had danced under the moon and you came to the conclusion that any impure thoughts you held for your master would be safely tucked away in the back of your mind (and heart). Forever your secret. Only to be heard in your dreams and upon your death, when you repent for any ill thoughts to the Great Man above.
Everything had returned to its normal routine. You would get up in the morning, prepare breakfast alongside Suiren, eat, then proceed with any chores the woman gave you for the rest of the day, then repeat. Equally, your relationship (or lack thereof) with Jinshi had remained the same. Conversations filled with pleasantries. Simple things that had always lingered between the two of you since you were children. Pleasant and simple. As the world shall ever be.
It got a bit ruffled with Jinshi had cornered you and practically ordered that you come to the hunt instead of Suiren.
In the middle of scrubbing away at the floors, he had found you. Stood above you with that grin, “Y/N, you’re one of my most loyal servants, hm?” He’d begun with an inflection in his tone that made you horribly hesitant.
You had faltered in your scrubbing to stare up at him with confusion, “Uh…well, I suppose, Jinshi-sam’s.”
“Why don’t you join me for the Hunt this up coming week?”
Your had heart dropped. And, by the look Gaoshun had dawned, his had too. The Hunt, in your humble opinion, was a glorified weekend for the men in high positions to rub one off while killing animals. It wasn’t something you found interesting in or much grace. That’s why you had declined Suiren’s question on whether or not you’d like to take her place only three days prior. You had no interest in watching anyone, even Jinshi, size each other up while a defenseless animal bled.
“Jinshi-sama, I believe Suiren—“
Ever the gentleman, he had cut you off, “No worries, Suiren agreed to take over matters while you’re gone! She’s the sweetest, right?” He had appeared all to eager and all too himself for you to ignore.
So, with a heavy heart, you’d sighed, accepting defeat and his invitation.
Now, you would find your torture for a multiple day retreat with a bunch of men with their c—
The carriage came to an abrupt halt, bringing an unruly end to your thoughts as you all carefully exited and were greeted by the sunshine. The humid air heavy with the condensation of the area and already making a sweat appear on your brow. But, ever the lady, you pleasantly tuck your hands into your sleeves and follow behind Gaoshun and Basen.
You were a little surprised as Maomao stuck closely to your side; but not all too surprised to find her attention on your surroundings, vague surprise in her eyes. The area was as equally as beautiful as it was a burden to you.
The buildings weren't anything for you to revel at. Spending an entire lifetime within palaces and in buildings as equally or above standard to those, it just wasn't anything special. The nature surrounding the area, however, was something to stare in awe at. Lucious trees, beautiful grass, and beautiful array of plants and flowers. It almost made you regret all the time you had spent away from this place.
But it wasn't like you had the chance to truly return since the last time you were here. Nothing could bring back that little girl.
You deterred your thoughts away as Gaoshun slid the door open. Immediately, you were hit with a wave of heat that you made you tense up. It was apparent that you wouldn't find your much needed cool down you were desperate to find since you were confined in the carriage days prior.
You were the last to enter and when you did, you faltered at the sight before you.
Jinshi was sprawled across the couch, wisps of his dark hair framed his sweat glistened face, eyes closed in contempt. A small dent appeared between his eyebrows and a frown adorned his face. However, your attention was caught on a drop of sweat that made its way from his hairline, down his cheek, his jaw, his long slender neck, and past his— his collar.
His modesty was of no worry, apparently, as he laid with his robes parted open to reveal his chest. Itself was glistening with sweat. Delicate skin on showcase for all to see. It brought a soft blush to your cheeks, as you blatantly ogled him. Pressing your lips together to contain whatever thoughts you had about him from burst from your seams.
"Y/N," Jinshi's voice hit your ears, tender and smooth. You're suddenly hyperaware that he's staring at you with raised brows, lids peeked open to stare at you.
You straighten your back and offer a bow, "Jinshi-sama. Do you require anything?" You had to get it together. It was inappropriate to behave in such a scandalous way. "Request for ice? Tea?"
Jinshi shook his head, sitting up, "No, rather I'd like for you to rest after such a long journey."
You falter, your arms wavering from their position in front of your face, "Uh.... Wouldn't the room be more tolerable with some ice?" You spare a glance around the room and grimace. The windows are shut tight, only bits of sun peeking through the cracks. Basen looks rather miserable, but trying to appear his usual stern self. While Gaoshun and Maomao seem rather okay with showcasing their small discontent with the heat. A nice cube would help at least cool down a bit.
You also couldn't stand another second seeing Jinshi like that. As if he were some type of nymph testing your faith.
"Really, it's fine—" Jinshi attempted, but you were already turning on your heel.
"I will return with ice." You didn't miss the way Jinshi's face fell and his eyes cut to Gaoshun who shook his head in return.
Your fast paced adventure led you to the main hall, where people were moving in and out. Various officers and servants filled the area, finding their rooms or helping their masters and fellow officers to their own rooms. Everyone appeared to be feeling the heat as they wiped their brows. Much like you, they appeared to be attempting to defeat the heat.
You found your way towards an attendant who helped you get something situated for Kousen. Something that brought you both distaste and irritation. Something to be addressed at a later time.
Joy filled you as you turned around, ice would soon be in the room and you could crowd around it like it was a new lover.
As you were about to make your way back to the room, you ran into someone.
You were about to apologize when they whirled around and you let out an audibly sigh that conveyed your unwavering exhaustion for them.
"Hey, watch where— Oh, hey, " Lihaku blinked, kind face twisted up in vague recognition. “You’re that lady-in-waiting. What are you doing out here?”
“I’m on loan from Jinshi-sama,” you answered rather flatly, not missing the small frown accompanying the man’s face.
You were vaguely familiar with Lihaku. What with Maomao getting involved in the problems within the inner and rear palace, you were bound to make new acquaintances when she was dragging you around. Lihaku was the first one you had ran into. On orders to accompany the girl from Suiren, you had gotten to see her investigative skills firsthand. You were impressed, surely, when she had made the discovery about the potatoes. But the impression was overshadowed by Lihaku, who had spent the entire time chatting your ear off.
He was kind, handsome, and smart when it called for it. But you could tell that, like most officers, he had an airheaded vibe to him. One that deterred you from making things too complicated with him.
Friendly enough, and one of the few people that didn't seem to disinterest Maomao, you accepted his very vague and shadowed feature in your life.
"Well, that's nice of him." He said, clearly disinterested in where this conversation was going. "I'm glad to see a friendly face, though."
You offered a small smile, "As am I. Not many kind faces around here often."
"You can say that again." You hear a loud inhuman snort and a tug on your gown, taking a large step back, you look down. A large dog with drool leaking out from the sides of its mouth stared back at you. "Oh, hey, boy, no!"
"O-Oh my." You uttered, slightly breathless as you looked at the large beast.
Lihaku glanced at you, offering a withering smile, "Eh, sorry, he gets excited around new people— not a great trait in a dog like this, you would think, but he's a real gem. Just has his moments. Hey, now—"
Lihaku pulled out something metal and brought it to his lips, then blew. It emitted little to no sound, at least, any you could truly hear, making your perk up when the dog tilted his head and sat respectfully before the officer. He blew again and the dog laid. Again, and the dog stood on all fours.
You smiled softly, watching in wonder as it obeyed whatever silent orders it was getting from Lihaku.
"He's very smart." You observed as the dog sat down again.
"Right?" Lihaku beamed, "I can get him to come running from kilometers away if need be."
"Useful when you're in a bind."
"For sure!" Lihaku's demeanor reminded you of a proud father as he puffed his chest and looked distastefully towards the cages lined up outside. "He's real smart, yet they still want to use those birds in the end."
You didn't want to point out the various problems that could come with using a dog; as there were probably another list of various pros to actually use the dog. The hawks had been used for years and you doubt that some dogs would be taking their place any time soon. It'd probably be a long time before these arrogant men came to their senses and found better means. Despite dogs being loyal and determined to their cause, the hawk would always be chosen.
Or, the better alternative, they didn't do this hunt anymore.
But you knew that was a longshot.
It wasn't long after that you bid Lihaku a farewell and good luck on his duties, making your way back to the room. You exchanged pleasant smiles and greetings with familiar faces, but nothing that kept you from relaxing much longer.
When you returned to the room, everyone had found their own areas and activities to occupy themselves. Gaoshun and Basen were playing Go near the windows, Maomao was reclining on the floor where a sliver or air was flowing through (from where, you weren't completely sure). Jinshi was back to sitting on the couch, a book in his hands. Something that was quickly disregarded as you gently closed the door behind you.
"The ice should be up soon." You informed the room with a respectful bow.
Jinshi didn't look at all interested, "What took you so long?" It sounded like contempt. Irritation if you had to really dig. Something that made you falter.
You look up and see the pout on his lips— childish, as always. "Oh, I'm sorry, Jinshi-sama. I happened to run into a friend and got caught up in conversation." You apologized softly. The last thing you wanted to do was bring him more annoyance and disturbance.
He straightened considerably, "A friend?"
You didn't like the way it was spoken. A touch of disbelief was enough for you to eye him with your own distaste. Even if you and Lihaku were nothing more than strangers with vague familiarity with one another.
"Yes, a friend." You confirmed with thin lips. Despite your inner voice telling you to reign in your attitude, you upturn your nose and decide to join Maomao— whose eyes were shooting between the both of you with trepidation and vague sympathy. "He was being kind."
Jinshi huffed, "I didn't know you had any secret friends."
"Not a secret. Just don't find any time to speak about it with you, Jinshi-sama."
That made the man falter, a darkened shadow over his face. "I suppose." He frowned heavily now, squinting at you with something unreadable. "Who is this friend of yours?"
You, finding no reason to lie, continued on, "Officer Lihaku."
In an instant, three heads snapped to you with varying degrees of emotions. Maomao looked shocked, but welcomed the information with a shrug. Gaoshun looked pale and overwrought, for whatever reason you weren't entirely sure, but you had an itching feeling it had to do with Jinshi.
The same Jinshi that was now face down on the couch, letting out a miserable sound. Speaking into the fabric of it all, unintelligiable. But you swore you heard something along the lines of— "that second rate, again?!" As he continued to rant and cry.
With that, you decided it best to not involve yourself with whatever Jinshi was battling. You wouldn't win anyway.

You'd always hated Kousen-sama.
He almost always seemed to loom in the shadows. An masked man who held no personality or words of his own. Pleasantries offered out of necessity and not because that was simply the right thing to do. He was mysterious. He hardly appeared, but he was always there. A reminder for what things would return to one odd day. A symbol for exactly where your loyalties and master lied.
Kousen-sama was to always appear before others with his mask on. To avoid them seeing the ghastly sight of scars and blemishes that adorned his skin because of his sickness (whatever that may be) and spare him the indecency of stares. He was unmoving. Stone amongst he lively environment that ate away at their lunches and softly conversed with one another.
Prince. The respectable Kousen-sama. The great son of the empire. The brave prince against all odds.
Oh, how much you hate Kousen-sama.
But you still had woken up early to help him pin his hair back. To slip his robes on. To delicately place the mask on, fingering the bangs out through the slits to allow some type of familiarity. You were his confidant. His reliable and kind servant.
As always, you and Basen stood behind Kousen-sama with your backs straight and eyes ahead. A pleasant servant on loan and stern guard, you both were familiar faces against the unrecognizable figure in front of you. It reminded the people exactly who was before them. Exactly who had decided to grace their presence.
Still, it brought you discomfort.
You still eyed Gaoshun in the corner of you eye. The older man sat at the other end of the table. Maomao standing behind him with a distant look in her eyes, obviously not paying attention to the things happening around her. Not entirely surprising, but you felt the overwhelming urge to scold her for her lack in etiquette.
Oh, you're starting to think like Suiren, aren't you?
Suddenly, Basen is tensing up beside you and Kousen-sama is turning his head away from a scowling Shishou. Your eyes snap between the two with a scowl of your own. Whatever that man had said—
Kousen-sama's hand clenches. So tightly that his knuckles turn white and he shakes. You know something isn't right. You had missed something. Something so obvious and you were too concerned about Gaoshun.
The man stands from his chair, the legs loudly clattering against the tiled and stone floor. You watch uneasily as Kousen-sama raises, takes a moment to collect himself, then practically speeds away from the room. You don't waste a moment to bring your sleeve covered hands to your mouth and make your own exit.
As you pass a concerned Maomao and Gaoshun, you hear a barely uttered whisper from the girl— heat. Food.
You try to hide your confusion and worry as you follow behind your master.
It doesn't take you long to find him.
Down the path, up against a tree, the masked figure was hunched and obviously breathing heavily. You draw closer, outstretching a hand to gently press it against the large expanse of his back.
"Kousen-sama, are you quite alright?" You ask softly, hunching slightly to capture a glimpse of his eyes from that slit in the fabric.
When you do, you're almost breathless. His violet eyes are alight with something distant and scornful. Eyebrows furrowed as he meets your own gaze.
"Y/N...?" He sounded vaguely surprised under it all, breathless himself. As if he couldn't quite believe that you were here in front of him.
You nod once, reaching out and grabbing ahold of one of the ties keeping the mask all together. "I'm going to remove this. No one is around."
His hand is suddenly wrapped around your wrist. Not tight or unrelenting, but enough to make you freeze. Warm and clammy skin against your own to make you feel scorched. You don't need to see his entire face to know that his jaw was clenched now.
"I can't," he said in all his self-assuredness, "Someone might still come."
What a pain. You thought to yourself as you draw in a heavy breath.
You don't waste a second to slip under his arm, wrapping it around your shoulders and allowing him to lean most of his weight against you. "No worries, sir, I'll just find us some place where no one else is around."
You gently guide Kousen-sama from the line of trees and deep within it. Finding an oddly familiar path created within your mind to follow that takes you towards an overflowing waterfall. A loud crash of water hitting the rocks and body of water below that brought you a distant sense of comfort. The refreshing smell of the water hits your nostrils and you take a deep breath.
With Kousen-sama against you, you felt the sweltering heat hit you tenfold. But the mist from the waterfall brushed against your skin like a gently caress from an old lover.
This is it.
You stumble over to one of the few trees next to the waterfall and gently guide Kousen-sama to sit up against it. The man took a heavy breath and you finally felt a little at ease. Reaching forward, you moved to take the cloth off once again and then—
A loud thud and chunks of dirt hit your cheek.
You frowned, looking to the ground only a could feet away and saw a small crater. A sharp smell filled your senses and you stiffened. It was an unkind and almost putrid scent. The smoke from the small crater was the main cause.
"Eh—?"
You were suddenly cut off as Kousen-sama wrapped his arms around you, jerking you upwards and away from the tree. You would've basked in the way his body was pressed against your back or the way his fingers seemed to mold into your abdomen— you would've if it weren't for the loud crack in the air then the pieces of bark that flew through the air around you.
The tree that he had been pressed up against only moments ago was now split open with a piece of metal imbedded into the wood. It looked eerily similar to the same that had been in the ground moments ago.
"Is that a feifa?!" His voice pierced through your thoughts, oddly frantic and uneasy as he moved quickly from the tree and towards the river.
You glanced up at him and found him already staring down at you. Eyes narrowed and, if it weren't for the mask, his entire face would be scrunched up in that familiar distaste and panic. Yet he seemed eerily calm as he dragged you through the trees and into the water.
"Sorry, but this is gonna get a bit dramatic." His voice was soft against your head, warm breath caressing your hair as he wraps a protective arm around your head.
Your eyebrows raise, "Dramatic— WHAT?" You should've known his tone and choice of his words were a warning for what was to come, but you were still caught off guard.
He gave no indication that he was going to jump off the cliff.
"Jinshi, you goddamn idiot!"
Tumblr media
You mustn't get ideas above your station.
The water was oddly clear. Even with the mix of the overflowing waterfall, under it all was peaceful and calm. Fishes and water like insects lived in harmony.
Cool and calm. Always.
You are there to serve your master.
The little boy's head burst from the water with a big grin, short hair flat against his head and dripping. The sun reflecting off his violet eyes and almost blinded the little girl curled up on the side shore. Her face set into a scowl, clothes drenched, and a looming unimpressed older man behind her.
"It's so nice out, why don't you come in!" Beckoned the boy from the water.
The little girl shot him a nasty look, "You know why, you jerk!"
The boy's grin faltered, tilting his head at his friend, "Eh? Why are you being mean?" His voice wavered on the ends, still just floating in the middle of the basin.
"I'm not mean! You're mean! You're the biggest meanie!" The little girl stood up to throw an accusatory finger at the boy, her sleeve heavy and uncomfortable as she moved.
The boy's face reddened, eyebrows scrunched together, "I'm not mean! You're mean!" He repeated.
"No, you are! You're the biggest meanie in the whole wide world!"
"No, you are!"
"You are! You pushed me into the water!"
"You are! You should swim!"
"I hope you drown, meanie!"
The boy's expression fell completely. A heartbroken glint in his eyes flooding them. His lips trembled. But, before he could do something like cry, he was already swimming deeper
Nothing less, nothing more.
"Now, now," a large hand rested on the little girl's shoulder and gently tugged her back, turning her around to face the man. He seemed to be trying to appear as tender as he could to try calm down the girl's high nerves. "No need to get angry."
"But, Gaoshun—" The little girl whined.
Gaoshun shook his head, patting her shoulder, "No, we don't argue. Try to forgive and forget, yeah?" He reminded the lessons that he'd attempted multiple times to teach the two children. "No reason to walk around with resentment for others, right?"
The little girl scoffed her shoe against the ground, a pout on her lips, "Do I have to, Gaoshun?" She knew what this would call for. Exactly how this would end for her.
The man heaved a sigh, nodding, "Yes, you do. Now, go reconcile. I'll wait here."
The girl faltered as the man raised to his full height, cupping his hands behind his back. She dragged her feet through the soft soil and found her way towards the boy once more. He was grasping onto the edge of the bank, sniffling and snorting. His shoulders shook and his face was stuffed into his arms.
The little girl frowned. "Um... Are you okay?"
The boy stiffened, not turning around as he answered, "No."
"I'm sorry, I said something real mean." The little girl uttered, stepping closer as she clutched her wet clothes. "I just... You pushed me into the water, I can't..."
"I thought you were my friend!" The little boy whirled around on her, face red and eyes filled with big tears. He looked enraged but incredibly disheartened. The girl blinks in return as the boy glares. "You say such mean things to me. Friends aren't supposed to be mean!"
The girl clenched her jaw, "You were mean to me first!" She accused.
The boy sniffled, wiping under his nose with his forearm. "You're my friend." He repeated as if that cleared up any anger.
Nothing more, nothing less.
The little girl slowly sat beside him, her feet dipping under the water. "It is nice." She whispered.
The little boy dragged his eyes upwards, looking hurt but hopeful. "Right?" he asked, equally as quiet.
"You're my friend too, Jinshi." The little girl nudge him with her leg.
Jinshi's eyes twinkled, wide and all too bright, "Really?"
"Really." The little girl confirmed with a toothless grin. "My friend forever and ever!"
Jinshi positively beamed, the water sloshing as he jumped happily. "Forever and ever, and ever!"
"And ever!"

"It's no longer... appropriate for you and Jinshi-sama to be friends."
"I don't... I don't understand. He's my friend."
"His mother no longer finds it appropriate for you to concern yourself with Jinshi."
"But, Gaoshun—"
"No, Y/N. It's over. Come along. Suiren has a present for you."
"He's.... He's my friend...."
"I'm so sorry."

You are to give your life to your master.
The woman paused, back pin straight, as she entered her master's office, finding him curled up in the corner, muttering nonsensically to himself. The guard of said master was watching on with a pitiful expression of his own, only breaking his eyes away when the woman entered the room. His expression only seemed to deepen.
She didn't need to ask. There was an unspoken understanding as to what their master's breakdown was regarding. The Apothecary. The one that had gotten the attention of everyone in the palace as of late. The one that had been causing her great grief as of late— and was about to create more.
"Jinshi-sama?" The woman called softly, stepping closer.
Jinshi's lifeless eyes continued to stare at the floor below him. A gentle rocking seeming to soothe himself from the rages of his mind. "I don't need anything, Y/N. Thank you, kindly." He uttered just as lifelessly.
The devoted servant's chest clenched. Her face flushed as she reached out a wavering hand. To place it delicately against his hunched back. To offer her best comforting words that she could. To distract him away from her.
Any inappropriate behavior will be punished, severely.
She faltered. This wasn't her place. This wasn't a part of her duties unless Jinshi said so. Inappropriate behavior wasn't called for. It will be punished severly.
Retracting her hand, she stands, and offers a respectful bow. "Please call me if you need anything, Jinshi-sama." And left him in his dark corner.
Tumblr media
"Gaoshun, may I ask you something?"
"Of course, Jinshi-sama."
"You have been in my life for as long as I can remember. You remember more than I possibly could about my younger years. Whatever happened to cause me and Y/N to fall apart?"
"...."
"It had to be around the time I was eight that I noticed we were growing apart. Even now, I see it so clearly."
"It's been a long time, Jinshi-sama. You're no longer children."
"All the more reason to know, isn't it?"
"I don't know...."
"Gaoshun, nothing will come of it. I'm simply curious."
"..."
"I'm sorry to put you in this position. Please return to what you were doing."
"Jinshi-sama.... you might not like the truth..."
"I usually don't."
"Where to begin.... Before her eighth birthday—"

"H....E—"
Everything felt so muffled. Faraway. Featherlight.
Was that a pressure against your chest? A thump that came into quick successions, then stopped. For something soft and ever so delicate to press against your lips?
Everything was distant. So far away from your grasp. From your state of being. As if you were already long gone from whatever reality you were in moments ago.

THUMP. THUM—
You shot up with a cough.
Your throat burned and head ached terribly. Your eyes almost felt like they were about to pop out of your head and roll away. You felt horrible.
It didn't help that you were drenched from head to toe either.
Beside you, there was a heavy and loud sigh of relief as he fell to his backside. He let a silence fall over you both as you recovered, hand pressed against your throat and heaving.
Jesus. Had you almost...
The thought alone almost made you sick.
"I'm sorry. I thought.... I didn't think you still couldn't swim." His voice was soft, barely heard over the waterfall. Kind and cautious, worried and terrified. Things that seeped from his tone as if it were bleeding out and bearing all its insides to you.
Exposing him to you.
You peeked over your loose strands of hair to glare viciously at him. "When would I have the time to learn to swim?" You shot back ruthlessly, not entirely caring from etiquette in this moment. "You've lost your mind."
"Right." Jinshi immediately agreed, almost looking fearful as he watched you.
You push yourself up and take in a deep breath, coughing slightly at the burn of your throat. Taking in your surroundings, you swore that this was that—
"Are you really alright?"
You glanced back at the man and found him still sat on the damp ground. His eyebrows are furrowed and a small frown on his lips as he stared up at you. It made you uncomfortable. To see such a glittering violet staring back at you earnestly. Honestly.
You instead clutch onto your dress, "Suiren is gonna kill me." You scoff, tugging the garments apart.
You could hear Jinshi sputter behind you. The gravel and dirt below him crunching as he probably scrambled up from his spot.
You spared a feeble look over your shoulder to find him with his eyes clenched slowed, hand covering your body from his gaze. You snap your gaze back around and tug the fabric a little too hard as you scoff.
You wouldn't deny the pang of hurt that clenched your chest.
"Don't worry, Jinshi-sama, you won't have to see my unruly body of mine for long. I just want to make sure Suiren doesn't slaughter me when we return."
"I— No, I'm just— okay." He finally muttered.
You are stripped down to your underthings, placing the dress and various pieces on the ground as delicately as you can to avoid too much dirt being stained into the fabric.
As you place the last bit of clothing down, you hear the flutter of fabric behind you.
Jinshi is a bright red, gently tossing his robe down behind him. His back is facing you and you know its for whatever mock sense of modesty he wants to give the both of you. You instinctively reach out and take his robe in your grasp, twisting it and squeezing it to watch out a fair amount of water drip out.
"You worry about mine later. Take care of your things first."
Yeah, right, You think as you twist it with an unrelenting grip. You are there to serve your master. It's one of the first things you learn. His needs came before your own. His needs were your needs.
Jinshi snatched the robe away and squeezed the fabric tight, an overflowing amount of water released from the cloth and into the ground.
Okay, so maybe he was better at it than you.
You nod, turning your attention towards your own garments and try to ignore the overwhelming feeling that you had eyes on your rear.
"So, um—" Jinshi cleared his throat when his eyes dragged away from you, cheeks a bright red. "What now?"
"Well, we could attempt at trying to swim back—"
"You can't swim."
"I was going to say that."
"Oh, sorry."
There's a soft silence between the both of you as you finish up. Gently redressing, you make your way towards the entrance of the cave, where the waterfall is blocking it from any negative eyes. You press your lips into a thin line and regard it bitterly. You remember this waterfall.... you could recall the times you whimsical pondered what it'd be like to ride down it like in those stories.
Jinshi had promised such when you both were too young and too dumb to realize how naïve dreams like that were.
You couldn't really judge that mini-you, for you had your own dreams of—
"Remember when Gaoshun first brought us here?"
You hadn't realized that Jinshi made his way over until he was standing beside you. Robes lose over his shoulders and tugging on his top layer. Violet eyes were watching the water as if it were a canvas of memories in the long distant past. Something to be admired and viewed with daisies and smiles. Not to be addressed as anything but good or amazing. Not to see the truth of it all.
You press your lips together, drawing in a heavy breath, "I remember you pushing me in the water and Gaoshun having to pull me out."
Jinshi's face screws up slightly, a faint blush on his features as he almost looks around with shame. "Right...." He straightens, "I'm sorry."
You blink, "Huh?"
Jinshi glances at you with a small smile, "I, uh, never really apologized back then. Made you apologize like you did something wrong." He explains weakly.
You raise an amused brow, "I told you I wished you would drown."
"I kinda deserved it!" Jinshi counters, his lips cracking into a grin. That charming grin he gets that makes your heart flutter. Make you hopeful for terrible and wistful. "I'm real sorry."
You smile softly, eyes kind and soft as you regard him, "I forgave you a long time, Jinshi-sama."
Jinshi's expression faltered, "Don't call me...." He trailed off awkwardly, turning his attention back to the unrelenting waterfall. You watched him for that moment. That split second where it looked like he was actually going to say something that would make you lightheaded. His jaw working and the muscle jumping as he seems to contemplate his next words.
Say anything and I'll cling to it, You think, watching his lips part, I always have. I always will.
"I'm surprised you were the one that followed me out. I thought the Apothecary might've done it."
You tense. That was certainly not what you expected him to say. Of all the things he could say? The Apothecary.
The waterfall in front of you is suddenly much too loud and violent. The cave seems to darken and your eyes drag from Jinshi to stare at your bare feet. Of course. Of course. Why wouldn't he want Maomao? Why had you even came here? Who were you to get between whatever silent signal he was trying to send to the other girl.
Him and Maomao. It was nicer than him and you. Jinshi and Y/n.
You straighten, pushing down any ill thoughts and heavy feelings into the dark pits of your chest and mind. "I apologize for the intrusion. I thought it'd make more sense for me to accompany you, Jinshi-sama."
"Why are you apologizing....?" He trailed off and then made a noise that sounded eerily similar to that of a caught man. "No, wait, I'm really glad that you're the one who came! Like really glad!"
"You don't have to spare me, Jinshi-sama. I'm a woman now, not a little girl."
"I'm not—" He visibly slumps, closing his eyes and trying to collect whatever thoughts he has and place them appropriately. He draws in a breath and faces you, looking oddly serious compared to his usual self. "I'm not trying to spare your feelings. I was just trying to say that— Well, it's not— I want you here, Y/n."
He's sparing your feelings. He's being kind. He doesn't actually want you there. You can't be friends.
You don't spare him a response. Instead, walking further into the cave. You raise your eyebrows, looking at the gaping hole above you where light and the sounds of nature filtered in. What could possibly get you both out of there...?
Whistle. Sit.
Of course. Him.
Jinshi sighs, "I spoke to Gaoshun before we—"
You place your fingers in the corner of your mouth and blow. A loud whistle bounces off the cave walls and out of the hole. You wait and hope to hear a bark or see the familiar tall man, but there's nothing.
"What are you doing?" Jinshi asks slowly, glancing between you and the hole above.
"Hello?" You cup your hands over your mouth and shout as loudly as you can. "Is anyone out there?"
Jinshi frowns, staring at you uneasily, "Y/n, please, we don't want to attract them this direction."
In the mess of almost drowning and seeing peeps of Jinshi's bare skin, you'd almost forgotten that you both had been chased down here by some violent assassin. Rather foolish, if you were honest.
You place the tips of your fingers against your lips and try to force the blush spreading across your cheeks off. "Sorry." You offer a bow of your head, despite the position you both find yourselves in.
You receive no response which causes you to peek at him. The stare that he's leveling you with doesn't bring you any type of comfort. It usually meant he was about to say something that—
"Hop on my back and see if you can reach up there."
—you wouldn't like.
Your eyebrows shot upwards and you stared at him with wide eyes. If Suiren was here and knew what he just proposed, she'd positively lose her mind. No matter how long she had known you— she'd think it improper. He was your boss and you were his lowly servant. To be in an position above him or treating him like a mat, it was...
It was simply ridiculous.
"But—"
"If you're the one below, you'll get crushed." He jabs a thumb over his shoulder. "Do it."
And that's how you ended up here. Legs wrapped around Jinshi's shoulders and heads, hand reaching out for the dirt above. You dig your fingers in and glance down at the man below you.
"Are you sure I'm not hurting you?"
Jinshi sighed for what seemed the hundredth time that day, his hand on your thigh squeezing gently. "Y/N, please stop asking me that."
You grimace, "My apologies, Jinshi-sama. Sorry." You shakily raise from your place, ignoring the soft and deep grunt Jinshi gives as you stand on his shoulders.
You dig your nails into the damp dirt and begin to tug yourself up.
This is it. Finally, you could get into the open forest once again. You're not going to be suffocated by his presence. Everything will return back to its rightful places—
You froze when it smacked you in the forehead.
You tried to keep calm as you felt the slimy breathing thing rest on your skin. Body tensed up and eyes staring widely at the bright sky above.
"Y/N?" Jinshi softly called, noticing the way you tensed.
"F—Frog." You utter, jaw clenched tight and you felt it shift as you take a deep breath. "A frog."
Jinshi blinked, looking up at you with his own wide eyes, "Hey, don't-don't freak out! Just shake your head and it'll hop off."
You shake a little, but follow his instructions. However, you may have overestimated the shake as you lose your grip on the dirt and begin to fall back.
"Hey!"
The tumble down is short and not all that hurtful, like you had been expecting. You had closed your eyes in anticipation, fear of having to watch the ground quickly approach too much for your tiny heart. You expected to feel the damp mud to be seeping into your clothes and little bits of stone and bark digging into your skin. However—
Nothing.
There was nothing except the soft silk under your fingers. The scent that resembled a sweet fruit, one that you had smelt quite often in the mornings. In the noons, the evenings, the nights, repeat. You knew that smell and that familiar beat against your own chest.
Peeking your eyes open, you find that Jinshi is already staring back at you. The first thing you notice is that you both are extremely close to one another. His breath fans against your dewy face, making goosebumps raise off your skin and a shiver sent down your spin. Next is his tender expression, Eyes gentle and twinkling. His expression isn't filled with pain or anything that would indicate that he was uncomfortable with the very short distance between you both. The last thing you notice is the fact that your body is pressed against his.
Your complexion flushes and you blink down at him.
He's warm. Incredibly warm. A sharp contrast to his damp clothes, which are open and pooling under his shoulder blades, revealing his bare chest to you. Your breath is ripped from you as you stare at the plump skin. You've seen it a million times. Every day as you help him get ready for the day. It should be normal. Should be something that doesn't make you lightheaded.
But it does.
He's right there. Right against you. You can feel his heartbeat ramming against his chest and into yours. You can feel every small breath he takes—as if hanging onto this moment with, what? Trepidation? Unease? You weren't entirely sure but you knew that you felt light.
Was it so bad that you felt nice in this moment? That this warmth was wrong? Was it so out of your reach that you simply couldn't imagine a man wanting to embrace you in a way?
You are to give your life to your master. Any inappropriate behavior will be punished, severely.
Yes. It was.
You clenched your jaw, ignoring the tender look in Jinshi's eyes as you try to bring your mind into the present.
The frog.
It wasn't anything that you wanted to touch, but Jinshi was your master. Your discomforts and fears must be pushed away for his sake and needs.
Reaching down, you feel for any signs of the frog. It wasn't large, but it wasn't entirely small either. It wouldn't be hard to find in all it's slimy and— There it is.
Your hand brushed it and you feel almost elated to find it. Your hand cupped around the bulge from Jinshi's robes. It feels much bigger than the average frog that'd been on your forehead. It was unmoving to, except for the small twitch it gives as you rest your palm down. You gripped it.
"Hng," Jinshi grunts, his eyes close. You're a little shocked as his hips shift, his hands at your hips dig into your flesh, almost too eager. You snap your eyes upward to his suddenly sweating and flushed face. "I-I'm sorry, but... but could you move your hand? It's making things, um, rather difficult."
Difficult?
You grip onto the twitching frog below you—
"U-Uh—" Jinshi moans in a deep and guttural way that would make anyone, especially you, malfunction. It doesn't help that his hands latch onto you harder, pressing you closer and releasing a stuttering breath against your ear.
Why was he squirming so much? Why was his face so red and dripping with sweat? Why was his chest heaving and his hands flexing around your skin? And why was this thing twitching and getting bigger in your hold....
Oh.
Oh.
You are to give your life to your master. Any inappropriate behavior will be punished, severely.
You felt a little sick at your intrusion. At the gall. You couldn't believe yourself. You had violated one of the single rules you were ever given. You violated Jinshi's space. His entire being. You were to be punished and hated— ousted from your position.
Disgusted with yourself, you slowly stand up. Jinshi's softly panting from his position on the ground, running a hand through his mused hair.
"S-Sorry, I haven't— I'm a bit—" Jinshi's obviously embarassed and uncomfortable. Look what you've done. You've ruined it all. "Hey, where are you going?"
Before you could think much more as his hands grip your hips once again and pull you down.
You're sat on his his lap and you could feel it.
"J-Jinshi-sama, I'm so-I'm so sorry!" You tucked your head down, shaking with trembling lips.
Jinshi's hands fall to your thighs, limp, "Eh...?"
"What I did was truly inappropriate and-and I will take any and all punishment!"
"Punishment...?" He sounded terribly confused, still a bit breathless. You keep your head ducked and he remains unmoved. "Why would I... you're not getting punished."
"I give my life to you. Any inappropriate behavior will be punished." You repeated softly under your breath, tucking your hands against your face to hide away from his gaze. From the judgement and hatred. "It's only just."
There's a longstanding silence between the both of you and you're hopeful that he's coming to his senses. That you'd be released and freed. That you would finally accept the gap and space between them. To fall away, finally, to the shadows.
It was tarnished the moment Jinshi wraps your hands around your own, gently prying your hands away from your face.
He doesn't look vengeful or angered. No. No, he looks kind. As he always has been. Kind and considerate. Honest and open. He'd always been so...
He'd never really been angry with you. Not without sadness being overbearing. Always so quick to forgive you. To push everything away with a smile and crinkle of his eyes.
"Y/N..." His words are as soft as his expression.
Your hands shake, "Please... Please hate me." You pleaded quietly, pressing your forehead against his hands as if he were a monk to be begged to.
"I'm not going to punish you or... or anything of the sort. Why would you want that?"
You draw in a watery breath, shoulders shaking, "It's easier to let go that way." You admitted.
"Let go of what?"
"Of my love for you."
"What?!"
His shout echoed off the cave walls. Your humiliation and embarrassment was quick to follow once it bounced back at you. Made you flinch back and try to push yourself back from his lap. Why did you say anything? Fool. Disgusting fool.
"Hey, hey, hey," Jinshi's hands wrap around your wrists and tug you forward a bit. You refuse to meet his eye. You refuse to be humiliated and demeaned— "Don't do that. Don't close off."
You clench your jaw and try to push the humilation deep within you, taking a deep calming breath as you stared at his bare collar. "You're so kind and so... you. I'm sorry if I make you uncomfortable or disgusted, but I need to tell you. And then I would hope that you would let me go."
Jinshi's eyebrows shot up. "Let you go?"
You've been thinking about this for some time. That it all would be better if, in the end, you were to serve someone else. That you were pawned off for some soldier instead of this slow torture. This uncomfortable, unbearable tiptoeing.
"I would like for you to offer me to a soldier or anywhere else."
The reaction is instant. The way Jinshi's complexion darkens and he stares at you with wide eyes. He slumps into the damp ground and almost turns into putty. His hold on you slackens and gives you ample opportunity to move away. But you're frozen in your spot.
"Why would I do that?" Jinshi's voice is quiet, slow, "You're... You're mine."
A blush takes over your cheeks, "Jinshi-sama, It's not appropriate! I shouldn't be like this with you."
"What if I like it?"
You blink at him. "Huh?"
Jinshi leans forward, his thumb gently skirting against your skin. "What if I have some love for you too? What if I don't care about what's appropriate or follows the rules."
I would ask who you are. You were tempted to say but your mouth was clamped shut in shock. Following the rules had been completely him. He was put in his current position now to ensure the rules in the rear palace were being followed diligently. The thought that he would love someone like you when there were people like Maomao or princesses out there. People much more deserving of his devotion. It wasn't right.
As if sensing you're not believing him, he pulls away and presses his lips thin. "Okay, I'll convince you." He straightens up and takes a breath. "I spoke to Gaoshun not too long ago. Before we came here and I know everything now."
A pause. Everything. He knew everything now? Everything is so much. Everything is... well, everything. What exactly had Gaoshun told him?
"What's everything?"
"That my mother didn't want you around anymore. That Gaoshun told you that you weren't allowed around me anymore. That you stopped being my friend and became my employee."
Your stare up at Jinshi with wide eyes. "That's not...Us being friends wasn't right anymore."
Jinshi frowned, shaking his head and his hands slide up to your arms. "If I had my way, I would've had you by my side all that time. Not as some lady-in-waiting, but as my equal."
You shake your head, ignoring the erratic beating of your heart against your chest. "Don't say that. Don't say things you don't mean, Jinshi." You beg softly.
Jinshi reaches out, wrapping his hands around your own, pressing it against his chest. "I mean it with everything in me. If it were up to me, I wouldn't have ever been separated from you. Forget what my mother said." His words were sweet, tempting. They made you lightheaded. So did the sudden brightness and tender smile on his face. "That's the first time you've called me Jinshi since we were kids."
"What? I've always called you Jinshi."
"No, you've always called me Jinshi-sama."
"Oh."
You suppose you had.
"Jinshi," You utter, unsure of what else you both could say.
Jinshi's expression, if possible, softens further, leaning forward an inch. "Yes?" He whispers back just as softly.
Your eyes trail between his eyes before moving to his lips, parted and glistening, "Jinshi..."
Jinshi's hand slides up your thigh and his lips are ghosting against yours, "I'm here. I promise." He whispers before pressing your lips together delicately.
Your heart soars. Your hands shakily press against his cheeks, drawing closer as his own press your hips together. He's soft. He's tender. He's cautious and all encompassing. Filling your senses and making you lightheaded.
As you both part for a breath, he flips you onto your back. His hand grips the underside of your thigh and presses you close enough that he lets out a soft and broken sound.
His eyes are heavily lidded as he gazes down at you, lips pink. "I just want you. No one else. I promise." He utters.
You twist your hands into his hair, eyes fluttering. "You're it." You pass back.
His lips are back on yours. Wet and eager. This is sudden. Fast. But you've been waiting for so long. Had been clinging onto the smallest of things. Desperate to have this closeness that you had now. To feel his skin against yours. His breath mixing with your own. Everything him and everything you intertwined.
You just wanted to cherish this—
WOOF!
You and Jinshi both tense up, jumping. Looking over his shoulder, your eyes widen upon finding a familiar dog staring down at you both, wagging tail eager and happy to see you.
Jinshi's eyebrows furrow, "Huh...?"
There's not much warning before the dog is jumping down. Landing straight on Jinshi's back, causing the poor man to let out a pained sound. He's squishing you against the ground as the dog stands on his back, happily lapping his tongue against your cheek.
Vague disgust and disappointment wash over you, but you smile all the same. "Oh, boy!"
He barks again. A greeting you're sure.
Above, Lihaku and, surprisingly, Maomao appear. Both of them stare down at you with varying degrees of emotions. Lihaku looked excited and kinda like his dog, while Maomao.
Well, Maomao looked all too knowing.
"Well, you look rough!" Lihaku called down with a grin, "Glad to see you're not dead."
"As am I!" You huff out a laugh, then look to Maomao. "Hello, Xiaomao!"
"Hello." Maomao said flatly, she looked lower and her face screwed up distastefully. "Is Jinshi-sama okay?"
Lihaku then he spots his dog and slightly pales, letting out a sharp whistle. "C'mon, boy!"
The dog eagerly jumps off Jinshi, going to sit by your head and wag his tail. The man above you sighs in relief, pushing up off you. He sits up and you try not to focus on the bright blush on his face.
"Why did he do that?" The royal asks.
"Must've thought something was wrong." Lihaku rubs the back of his neck, frowning down at you both. "What... exactly where you two doing?"
You and Jinshi glance at one another, furious blushes flushing over you both. Despite anything that Jinshi said, there were things that you weren't allowed to do. Rules and laws that forbid something like this form happening the public eye. For a man like himself from being with a woman like you. A servant with a beautiful prince.
Protecting him was the priority.
"Nothing!" You shout back, ignoring the eyebrow raise that garnered from both Jinshi and Maomao.
Everything was better left alone. A secret between the both of you. To cherish and hold for however long it may need. You could deal with the anger and longing later.

One piece modern au, Mama Rouge :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy Mother’s Day :)
Here’s some mama Rouge for the occasion!
Additional info about her 👇(there's a lot.)
Rouge is a bit sickly. Throughout Ace’s formative years, she was in a hospital, sick. Its honestly a miracle she got through child birth alive, but she’s a very very strong woman.
Garp was there when Ace was born because I like to imagine that Garp was Gol D. Roger’s Parole Officer, and so of course he became a family friend. But since he was there for Ace's birth, he was also there when Rouge held her newborn and cried because she knew she couldn't take care of him in her condition.
And look, I don't know how child handling works, but I think it would be really funny if Garp was like "you're okay, girlie, I got the perfect idea." And then he held out a sheet of paper with all the people on his parole list and said like "pick one, this could be part of their community service sentence."
And Rouge was like "might as well, I guess, I don't want to put him in an adoption center or foster home so I guess I'm doing this". Then she picked out Dadan because 'dad' is already in her name, and she's not really given anymore qualifications other than that, so Dadan it is.
Plot twist though because all these convicts just all live with each other so it really wouldn't have mattered, it just meant that now Dadan would be the main guardian of Ace.
-------------
Because she was in the hospital for so long when ace was growing up, she’s a bit of a mystery to him. Sometimes (like 3 times a year) she would come to visit him at The House Of Dadan and bring homemade large stuffed animals for him made with Ace's old clothes she's patched together. Ace loves them and they're on a high up shelf in his room, practically untouched in fears of potentially breaking them.
Whenever Ace has a day with Rouge, it's usually a bit awkward. Like Ace doesn't know how to have a mother and Rouge doesn't know how to have a son, but she is trying her best to have fun with him whenever she gets the chance to.
youtube
I kinda envision these vibes. Not exactly but adjacent.
Very like "what do you wanna do, sweetie :)"
Ace never gets to visit her at the hospital because Rouge doesn't want him to see her in that kind of setting. He tried to once when he became an adult but he was turned away at the door. He may or may not have tried to then find her through the outside of the building through windows and he may or may not have been kicked off the premises by security.
---------
The first day on the job after Ace completes his tattoo artist apprenticeship, he gets a customer who called the day before requesting him specifically, which is a little weird since he had just started that day, normal patrons wouldn't know him.
When it's time for the appointment, he goes to the floor from the back of the shop, and the person sitting in his appointment seat,
Is.. is his mom.
Shes talking to his coworkers and laughing with them! Ahh no nononono. His mom is not supposed to see this part of his life. What is she doing here????
He rushes over to her and asks her what she's doing here for??
"I'm getting a tattoo from my son :) can I get this flower please? :)"
So he starts the tattoo process and Rouge is very cooperative and receptive to when he needs her to move or anything like that.
He's.. he's never actually been this close to her for so long...
He glances up one and he sees her smiling so softly at him.
Ace looks away quickly, hoping she doesn't see him blushing.
For all wondering, the tattoo that she has is very much on her ass and it is very much Roger's name.
That's all I got. I got a couple of people asking about Ace's family situation, so here ya go :)
Oh additionally, Roger died before Ace's birth from Cancer
Thanks for reading if you got this far :)

In-Panem/Not Reaped Everlark AUs
Got asked to give some fanfic recommendations for In-Panem/Not Reaped Everlark AUs so here we are. Most of them (if not all of them) are gonna be fluffy and happy tbh because i can't take my pookies being hurt ):
Completed:
A New Path (138k words) by Endlessnightlock
The day after aging out of the Reaping, Katniss crosses paths with Peeta. She thanks him for the bread and to her surprise, a tentative friendship begins.
One of my favourites. I love the direction the author took with this story. Always made me want more!
Go Slow, Peeta (20k words) by Oakfarmer
The era of the Hunger Games has come to an end. How Everlark slowly happened anyway.
This was the one that started it all for me. Short, simple and to the point! A classic in my opinion.
Nothing Owed for a Gift (10k words) by orphaned account
Lately, Merchants have taken to flirting with unwitting Seam folk as a joke, sometimes going so far as to ask them out on a date. I've even heard of a couple instances of a Merchant asking someone from the Seam to marry them, and then laughing hysterically when the poor recipient says 'yes'. So, when Peeta Mellark approaches me after the reaping, red with nerves and pushing his lips together as if he's trying very hard not to do something like laugh, I'm immediately wary. Peeta can't possibly be asking me to marry him for real. ... right?
Urgh. Literally one of my favourite one-shots.
Inevitability (44k words) by Xerxia
What if? What if Peeta and Prim hadn't been reaped?
Definitely not the fluffiest fics in the list, but Katniss absolutely SHINES here. And Peeta stays very true to his character as well. Absolutely worth the read.
It Takes A District (55k words) by MTK4FUN
Thinking her mother is dying, Katniss Everdeen marries Peeta Mellark to keep her sister out of the Community Home.
I love this fic. I don't know what it is, but there's something about it that makes it standout on its own.
Katniss Everdeen Is Not A Stalker (241k words) by MegaAuLover
Katniss as a little problem, she can't stop looking through Peeta's window, trying to find a way to pay her boy with the bread back but as time goes on she realizes she wants more. But there is a problem the District is flooded with Peacekeepers and everyone faces danger as the Capitol tightens its reigns on the district. Can love bloom in the middle of adversity? Or will it shrivel in the face of surmounting danger?
This is the one. Easily one of the bestest AUs imo. Very long read- but I will be naming my first born after the squirrel. The Everlark relationship here is A+++.
Incomplete/Ongoing:
( I know its weird to recommend incomplete fics, some these ones are legitimately my favourite fics and think are still worth the read.)
Cavedweller (79k words) by Jennajuicebox (last update: 2021-01-25)
Her mother once told her she was brave. A word Katniss wouldn't have chosen for herself. Brave implies that you run headlong into the scary unknown. Brave implies you face the things that want you dead. It dredges up thoughts of conquering armies and swords raised over head. Katniss isn't brave. As much as she would never admit it to herself she is scared out of her wits. She is staring into a gaping chasm, waiting for it to swallow her whole.
I love AUs that explore Katniss otherside of the family so much. As always, the Everlark development here is absolutely heartwarming and delicious. 10/10
On the Threshold ( 97k words) by ghtlovesthg (last update: 2020-06-26)
Nineteen and free from the Reapings forever, Katniss finds a token on her doorstep commemorating her passage over the threshold of adulthood. Discovering the identity of the sender will start Katniss on a road that leads toward life's other milestones.
This is exactly how I envisioned Everlark would get together had it not been for the Reapings. So so so so good. There is just enough here to be satisfied that the fic is unfinished ; w;
hope you find something you like! I always have more if you want more to sink your teeth into <3 Happy readings!

Would you do one where he sees a girl who looks like how he envisioned Delores and gets her to agree to roleplay but then he can't actually tell her to Delores really was so he just lies about that and keeps slipping in the middle of sex and saying things she doesn't understand?
Thank you for this! So, this is crazy because this describes almost exactly a short fic I wrote quite a while ago. I'm not sure it's the tone you were looking for, as it's definitely a little on the dark side. Five is not super warm and fuzzy to his real-life girlfriend in this one. And any story where he's wrestling with his demons and how they relate to Dolores can get dark just by the nature of it. There's a lot going on in that brilliant brain of his, and some of it isn't good or healthy.
But, I think it's a pretty good story, so I'm going to post it here, with just a couple small changes to make it a little bit more like what you requested. However, if you read this and decide this is not scratching where you itch, please let me know if there's something else I can try.
Thank you again for this request! ❤️

Five x Dolores, Five x Female Unnamed Character, One-Shot, 6,078 words
Warnings: Smut, Doll fetishization, Five not being in a good place mentally
He knew it was wrong. He knew he shouldn’t be asking her to do what he was asking. It was fucked up. But wasn’t that the story of his life? Just when he thought he was doing ok, blending in, being normal. Then something would come along and boom, he was fucked up again.
“Hold still. That’s right…just like that.”
Five hadn’t wanted it to be like this. He just wanted to be a normal boyfriend. To have a normal relationship. He wasn’t sure it was love, but maybe it would get there eventually. But he liked the companionship. The soft kisses and sharing a bed. God, he hated sleeping alone. On the nights she wasn’t there, he laid awake most of the night; and when he did finally drift off, he was woken minutes later by some horrible nightmare. But when she was there next to him, breathing in the darkness, and he could feel the weight of her body on the mattress; then he could sleep soundly. No nightmares came if he wasn’t alone.
So, it really wasn’t fair. And he knew it. But that didn’t stop him from making his request of her. He had agonized over it for days, the sickening thought growing stronger inside his head. He tried to push it down, tried to make it go away. But it was always there, lurking in the shadows of his mind, threatening to burst forth in a manic display of craziness.
Five had been doing so well until that day. It had been years of drinking, and then therapy, and then finally acceptance. He wasn’t sure he’d describe himself as being happy, necessarily, but it was close. All those years of solitude, followed by the stresses of saving the world, and capped off by the overwhelming blame that was heaped on him by his family. Well, after all of that, the best he could do was a sort of contentment. And that was almost as good as happiness.
Afterall, he had her. And he definitely liked her. Liked having her around. He felt more at ease when she was with him, less on edge than usual. But he knew her feelings for him were much stronger than that. She loved him. He knew that because she told him. She told him at breakfast over their coffee. She told him at night before they fell asleep. And she told him while he was fucking her; hard and raw and ruthlessly, until she was clawing at his back. But he never said it back. Not once. And yet, she was still here.
Five pretended he just wasn’t ready to say it yet. He’d get there eventually; he was so close. And there were so many times when it almost escaped his lips. Those times when she would lean over and put her head in his lap, so comfortable with his body, like he was an extension of herself. Or when she was sleeping and he would look at her in the darkness, thankful she was there with him. But that wasn’t love. Not really. That was needing someone, which was entirely different.
“I need you,” he would whisper next to her ear as she groaned beneath him, clutching at his skin. At least he could say that without lying. Five may have been a complete mental case and an asshole, but he wasn’t a liar.
The thing is, he knew what the problem was. There wasn’t enough therapy or drugs in the world that could cure him from what was lurking deep down inside of him. It had been too long, too many years of it. You can’t just erase decades of something from your mind, no matter how fucked up you know it is. Afterall, that’s what drew him to ask her out in the first place, wasn’t it? Her poised posture, the wavy blonde hair, her fair complexion. It didn’t help, though. Five couldn’t love her because he still loved her.
Five had been in a real relationship before. Practically a marriage, actually. For longer than he knew most people stayed together in this day and age. Granted, there wasn’t much of a choice at the time, but he liked to think that even if they had lived in a normal society, they still would have lasted that long. He loved her, and she loved him. And then…and then he just gave her away.
He and Dolores had been an unlikely pair, that was true. She liked poetry and romance, and couldn’t get enough of every pink sunset she saw, even though they were a dime a dozen. Five liked drinking, and swearing, and surviving. But when it came to her…she was his poetry and romance and sunset. She made him human and the only reason his mind remained even slightly intact. She’s the one that told him not to do it. That shooting himself in the head was cowardly and unoriginal; two things he definitely did not want to be. So, he lived on. For her.
She was the first thing he thought of when he landed in 2019. He knew she was out there, in that department store. He just had to find her. It was a harrowing experience, trying to get her out of there, but he did it. Amid a barrage of gunfire, his powers failing him, he did it anyway. Because she was the only thing he would have died for. He had told her he would find her, and he did.
Then the next couple of days went by in a blur. After a hasty reunion in his childhood bedroom, with passionate kisses and loving embraces in his old bed, he knew they couldn’t stay there. He had work to do. A world to save. An apocalypse to stop. So, he brought her with him, shoved in that bag because he didn’t know how else to transport her safely. She didn’t mind, though, just happy to be with him again.
When he didn’t know what else to do, or where to go, he found the library. Their library. And just like most nights over the previous 45 years, Five got drunk and confessed his undying love to Dolores. He was no closer to stopping the end of the world. No closer to finding the owner of the prosthetic eye. But he had her with him, and that made him feel like anything was possible.
Then he wasn’t sure what made him do it. Maybe it was the new world they were living in, with all the people and buildings and cars zooming past. Maybe it was his siblings and their judgmental gazes towards the two of them. Maybe it was his talk with Hazel, about starting a new life over again. He wasn’t sure, but in his mind, he thought he was doing what was best for her.
So, he took her back to the department store, back where she came from. He said his heartfelt goodbye and Dolores smiled a sad smile before he turned away. His heart was broken, but deep down he knew it was the right thing to do. There just wasn’t a place for them in this new world.
Timelines came and went. The world ended, and then it didn’t. Over and over, Five fought against the impossible, never stopping until finally…finally…he could stop. And he was free to live a normal life. But that ship had sailed. He would never be normal. And he would never stop thinking of Dolores. He knew she was probably out there somewhere. Where, he had no idea. The department store had changed hands several times, and the mannequins on display there were the modern kind; faceless and genderless, wearing clothes Five didn’t understand.
So, when he came upon her years later, he couldn’t believe it. It was like someone yanked him backwards through time, pulling his body and soul through the viscosity of space, and landing him fifteen years in the past.
At first, he almost passed her by. Walking down the sidewalk that he had frequented a hundred times before, he happened to be looking at the other side of the street as he approached the old thrift store. It was only because of her that he looked over. She was with him. Walking hand in hand, they had been strolling down the street, taking in the shop windows and other sights of the city.
“Oh, let’s go in here! Sometimes they have good vintage stuff,” she had exclaimed, pulling Five by the hand and walking towards the door.
The action made Five turn his head and look in the direction he was being dragged. That’s when he saw her. Right there in the front display window. Wearing a red, A-line dress and a tacky, over-sized sunhat. She was a brunette now, but Five recognized her right away. How could he not? He dreamt of her almost every night.
He stopped dead in his tracks, unable to move. Unable to breathe. He stared at her and she stared back. Then he felt a tug on his hand again.
“Come on, what are you doing? Let’s go in.”
Five looked from the window to her, a dazed look on his face. “What?”
“Let’s go in. What’s wrong with you?” She was laughing at him, thinking he was just being his usual, slightly weird self.
He allowed himself to be dragged into the store, the little bell above the door ringing as they walked in, loudly announcing their presence. There was only one other shopper inside, along with a bored-looking sales person behind the counter. The air was stale and heavy, and smelled of old books and damp wood. It wasn’t a huge store, but it had little departments, and she wandered off in search of shoes. Five stayed near the front of the store, mumbling an excuse about wanting to look at some crappy wall art.
Once she was out of sight, Five turned toward the front window display. Dolores’ back was to him, but he would have been able to identify her even without her face. How many times had he run his hands over her smooth body, caressing her and kissing her until she laughed and told him he was tickling her? How many times had those hands touched his own body, pushed through his hair, and brushed his cheek? Just looking at her now, Five could feel the sensation of her body on his. One warm and frantic, the other cold and unmoving.
He stared for a while, just studying the back of her. He wasn’t sure what to say, or even if he should say anything. She probably hated his guts, and she would have every right to. Would she even talk to him if he approached her? He knew she had seen him through the window, but that didn’t mean she wanted anything to do with him. Five took a hesitant step closer to the display, and cleared his throat. The sales person looked up briefly, then returned to scrolling through their phone.
“Hello, Dolores. It’s good to see you again.”
Five waited. He had spoken quietly, hoping no one else would hear him, but he knew she could. The few seconds of silence that passed were torture, and he was just about to turn away again.  Then he heard her voice, softly, answering him.
Hello, Five. It’s good to see you, too.
He smiled, so grateful she was even speaking to him after what he had done. “You look good, Dolores.”
Thank you, so do you. How are you?
“I’m doing well, thank you.” Five glanced around the store, making sure no one was looking.  “Actually, I’m not doing that well. I’ve missed you.”
I’ve missed you too, Five.
“Hey! What are you doing?”
Five jumped slightly. He hadn’t heard her walk up behind him. She was standing there with a confused look on her face, a pair of vintage heels in her hands.
“What? Nothing.” He gestured to the shoes. “You found something?”
She paused for a moment, glancing up at Dolores, and then back at Five. “Were you talking to that mannequin?”
Five scoffed and shoved his hands in his pockets. “Of course not. I was just thinking about something and started talking out loud to myself. You know how I drift off sometimes.”
She nodded. It was true, his mind did drift away a lot. Seeming satisfied with his answer, she held up the shoes. “Aren’t they awesome? I’m going to go pay.”
Five watched her walk to the counter and he stole another glance at Dolores. He dropped his voice even quieter, barely even a whisper.
“Can I come back and see you again?”
I’d like that.
Then Five was walking back out the door, his hand in hers again, barely listening to the words she was saying as they walked back to his apartment.
Five did go back and see Dolores. Every day for the next two weeks, he found an excuse to leave and walk the few blocks to the thrift store. Sometimes he would stand outside on the sidewalk, talking to her through the window. Sometimes he went inside, cursing the stupid bell that rang overhead. The store clerk would look up and see him, recognizing him now that he was always there. On the times he did go inside, Five would make a show of wandering around the store first, picking up an item here or there. But he would eventually make his way back to the front, near the window, lingering there for far too long.
With suspicious looks from the sales person, Five would bring some shitty item up to the counter and pay for it before leaving. Then he would throw whatever it was he just bought in the trash down the street. He’d return home, usually to find her waiting for him, asking where he’d been.
“Just going for a walk”, he’d reply. Now he could add liar to his list of reprehensible traits.
Once he had it in his head, he couldn’t get it out. He still fucked her when she threw her arms around his neck in a way that he knew meant she wanted him. Still kissed her and made her feel good. At least, he hoped he did, he wasn’t that much of an asshole. But it wasn’t the same. And she called him out on it.
“What’s going on with you lately?”
“What do you mean?” They were lying in bed, naked and breathing hard after a short, but satisfying round of sex. Five was staring at the ceiling, not meeting her eyes.
“I don’t know, you just seem different. Like you’re zoning out in the middle of everything.”
Five glanced over at her, but looked quickly away. “So, what are you saying? You don’t like the way I fuck you anymore?” He knew his voice was much too harsh and she didn’t deserve that.
She looked hurt. “Of course not. I’m just saying you seem…distracted lately. That’s all.”
Five sighed, but he looked her in the eyes this time. “I’m sorry, you’re right. I haven’t been sleeping well, that’s probably what it is.”
She frowned with worry and went to place a hand on his chest. Rather than allowing the conversation to continue, Five sat up and got out of bed.
“I’m going to take a shower.” Then he blinked into the bathroom without another word, feeling like a world-class piece of shit.
Then one night after a particularly heartfelt conversation with Dolores, and one too many drinks, Five worked up enough nerve to propose what he hadn’t been able to shake from his mind.
He had initiated it this time, sitting next to her on the couch and stroking her hair, pulling her onto his lap. After a passionate kiss and some light groping, he pulled away.
“Can I ask you for something?”
She smiled. “Is it sexual?”
Five laughed, embarrassed. “Yes, actually.”
She had meant it as a joke, but now she was intrigued. “Wow. You’re usually not that adventurous. Ok, what is it?”
Five paused, thinking he should just shut up and not say anything. But the words left his mouth before he could change his mind. “I want you to pretend you’re a doll.” His face flushed red and he looked away.
Her eyebrows knitted together, not fully understanding. “A doll? What do you mean?”
He took a deep breath. “During sex. I want you to stay still and let me move your body how I want it. Like a doll.” Five had purposely not chosen the word mannequin; too afraid of being called out.
“Um, oh. That’s definitely different.” She sounded dubious, at best.
Five ran a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, that’s stupid. Forget I said anything.” He went to kiss her again, as a distraction, but she pulled away from him.
“No, it’s ok. I want to do it for you. You just caught me off guard, that’s all.” She smiled and ran her finger down his cheek. “I can be your doll.”
Five swallowed, choking down the combination of shame and arousal that was coursing through his body. “Are you sure?”
She nodded. “I’m sure. I’ll do anything for you, you know that.”
As if he couldn’t feel any worse. He knew she was only doing this for him because she did love him. She was always trying to please him, to not anger him or make him feel bad in any way. Jesus, what an asshole he was.
“Just tell me what you want me to do.” The look in her eyes was sincere.
Five knew exactly what he wanted her to do. He’d been thinking about it for so long now. “Go into the bedroom and get undressed. Lie down on the bed and wait for me. But don’t move or speak. Just let me do everything.” His breath was coming harder now, just from the anticipation.
He saw a brief look of hesitation cross her face, but she nodded. Then she disappeared into the bedroom, as instructed.
Five waited a few minutes before getting up. He wandered slowly toward the bedroom, unsure of how he was going to react now that this was really happening. When he reached the door and peered inside, his heart stopped. There she was, lying unmoving on her back in the middle of the bed, just like he asked. She didn’t look up or speak when he stood over her, looking down.
“You look gorgeous, darling. Not that you aren’t always gorgeous.” His voice was soft and tender. Definitely softer than he’s ever spoken to her before. But that’s because he wasn’t really speaking to her. Not in his mind, anyway.
Five stared at the still figure on the bed. Aside from the subtle rise and fall of her chest, she remained unmoving for him. Even as he gently ran a hand down her chest and abdomen, testing the waters to see if she would react. But she was a good doll for him. Always eager to please.
He started to undress himself as he talked to her in his loving voice. “I’ve missed your touch, my dear. I think about it all the time. The things I’ve done to you. The things I want to do to you still.”
When he was fully naked, Five climbed onto the bed with her, kneeling over her, straddling her thighs. He reached up and took her chin in his hand, gently moving her head from side to side.
“Do you remember how it used to be? Just the two of us?”
She kept her gaze on the ceiling, but he could see her swallow when he touched her and her eyebrows creased together. He placed a soft kiss on her lips and she didn’t react. It was perfect and he groaned.
“I love kissing you,” he murmured before ducking back down for another one.
He smoothed her hair and caressed her face and neck. Five knew, in the back of his mind, that this was unfair. He’d never been this gentle and loving with her like this, and it was probably confusing for her. But that didn’t mean he was going to stop. No, he needed this. He was craving it.
He positioned his body over hers, taking her stiffened arms and moving them so they were resting across his back. She kept them where he placed them. He was fully hard now, and he rubbed himself against the inside of her thigh, moaning as he did it. He kissed her again, this time longer and harder, while he rutted into her. He heard her make a tiny whimpering noise and her hips twitched upwards.
“Shhh…stay still. Just a little longer,” he whispered, his face buried into her neck so he didn’t have to look at her face for too long.
She obeyed and her body stilled again. Only the harsh rasp of her breathing could be heard.
“You feel so good, my darling. Like always. You’re the only one that knows what I like.”
He could have stayed like that, just rubbing himself against her until he came all over her leg. He would have preferred it, actually. But the tiny part of his brain that wasn’t completely insane convinced him otherwise. Without asking, or even touching her first, Five thrust himself inside of her. He heard her gasp and her fingers clutched his back.
“Hold still. That’s right…just like that.”
She did her best to stay as still as possible while he fucked into her. He kissed her with his eyes closed a few times, but mostly he just focused on her neck and shoulder, lost in his own fantasy. He blocked out the moans she made and her hips pushing up to meet his. It wasn’t perfect, but it was close. The more he thought about Dolores, and her hard, statuesque body under his, the faster and harder he fucked her. He was desperate. Desperate to come inside of her, even though he would normally wait until she came first.
With a long groan and one final thrust, he was spilling hot cum inside of her. He pushed himself hard against her, his fists clenching the pillow under her head, until he was spent. Panting and still avoiding her eyes, Five climbed off of her, lying awkwardly next to her on the bed.
He didn’t know what to say. What was there to say?
“Sorry,” he mumbled. That was about all that came to mind.
There was a pause and she adjusted herself, moving her body now, and looked over at him. “It’s ok. You don’t have to apologize. Some of it was a little confusing, but that’s alright. It was…good.”
He looked up at the ceiling and covered his eyes with his hands. “Shit,” he cursed quietly.
He felt her hand on his arm, warm and soft. “Five, it’s ok. Really. Don’t feel bad.”
Of course she would say that. She never wanted him to feel bad. Even when he deserved it. Even when he asked her not to move and came inside of her way too early. He probably made her feel like a cheap whore, but she would never say that. Because she loved him, and this is how he repaid her. The thought actually made him angry. Whether it was at himself or her, he wasn’t sure.
He snatched his arm away from her. “I don’t need your pity,” he snarled.
“It’s not pity, Five. I’m just trying to tell you it’s ok. That I don’t mind what you did.”
Five sat up, placing his feet on the floor, his back to her. “Just drop it, ok? I don’t need a fucking therapy session.” Then he was gone again, back in the bathroom, staring at himself in the mirror. Loathing his reflection.
He had meant for it to be a one-time thing. The way it left him feeling after the first time made Five want to crawl in a hole and die. He couldn’t look her in the eye. Could hardly speak to her. But she still came back. Wanting to please him, as always. Five tried to just focus on the good thing he had in front of him. A kind, loving person that wanted nothing more than to make him happy. Why couldn’t he just go back to the way things were before they came across that thrift store? Things had been far from perfect, but at least Five hadn’t felt like a sick pervert. He never used to have trouble screwing her in a perfectly normal way, liking the way she moved beneath him and moaned his name.
But now he was truly and utterly fucked. He didn’t want her anymore. Not the real version of her, anyway. Yet he didn’t cut her loose. He pretended he still wanted her, just so she wouldn’t leave. Because now he needed her in an entirely different way.
“Please, can you do it again?” Five was kissing her chest and rubbing her bare thighs. He always avoided her eyes, now.
She didn’t answer right away and he finally looked up at her. The look on her face was filled with apprehension.
“Again? Five, this is the fourth time now.”
Five tried to tamp down his growing anxiety. He needed her to do this for him. It felt like he was going to go crazy if she didn’t.
He kissed her stomach to distract her, listening as she inhaled sharply. “How about this?” He kissed her thigh. “I do something for you first, and then you do something for me.” He gave a small kiss in between her legs and she whimpered. “Deal?”
“Yes,” she whispered, her head already thrown back, eyes closed.
Five fulfilled his part of the deal. Using his hand and his mouth, he watched impassively, almost bored, as he worked her over. The sight of her writhing in pleasure and the sound of her pitiful moans did nothing for him. He made her come hard and fast, until she was lying on her back, fully relaxed and satiated. Five eyed her wordlessly.
Finally, she opened her eyes and smiled at him. He waited as patiently as he could for her breath to finally steady. If she was breathing hard like that, it wasn’t going to work for him.
When it seemed like she had calmed down again, Five ventured to speak up. “Are you ready for your part of the deal, now?”
She flashed a quick look of uncertainty, most likely due to the underlying harshness that he had desperately tried to keep out of his voice, but had failed to do.
“Yeah, sure. I’m ready.”
Five smiled. “Good. You know what to do, then.”
She nodded and positioned herself just like the other three times she had done this for him. Lying flat on her back, eyes on the ceiling, arms and legs at her sides; waiting to be moved in the way he wanted. She controlled her breathing as best as possible, so only minimal movement of her chest could be seen.
Seeing her immobile like that, Five drew a hard breath in. He hated that he wanted this so badly, but the urge overpowered his self-loathing and he couldn’t help himself. He ran a hand down her arm, and then along her hip. His touch was gentle and slow.
“You’re so beautiful like this,” he whispered tenderly.
Five positioned her arms so they were bent at the elbows, hands and fingers molded into a slight curve. Her legs he kept straight, but spread them apart slightly. Unlike in the past, he ran his hand lightly over her eyes, closing her eyelids. He decided he didn’t want her looking at him anymore. It was too much of a distraction.
“Keep your eyes closed for me, doll,” he said quietly as he kissed her cheek. She did as he requested and kept them closed.
He proceeded to kiss down her arms and over her chest, his lips soft and gentle as they grazed her skin. He whispered loving words and told her how good she made him feel. Taking one of her hands, Five placed it on his hardened member, fitting it in the crook between her thumb and index finger. He held her hand in place while he slowly thrust back and forth, rubbing his cock over her, groaning with the intense and familiar pleasure. Soon, he wasn’t able to hold back any longer.
Rather than fuck her properly, like he did before, Five had no desire to feel the soft, wet sensation of her wrapped around him. Instead, he started grinding against the inside of her leg, in the space between her thigh and groin. It was harder there, mostly bone, and his movements became faster as he lost himself further and further into his fantasy.
He was holding his body over hers, rutting against her, moaning a mixture of obscenities and gentle praise. She stayed still for him, her eyes closed, although he could see now and then her eyes moving back and forth beneath the lids, the lashes fluttering ever so slightly.  She gasped quietly sometimes, but Five was so far gone he barely noticed.
Once he was close to finishing, Five knelt between her legs on his knees. Pumping himself with his own hand, he worked himself over until he was coming onto her stomach and tits, covering her in a load of cum while he groaned loudly with his eyes shut tight.
After a few moments, Five was able to open his eyes again. He was greeted by her judgmental gaze staring back at him. A mixture of horror, concern, and disgust written all over her face as she propped herself up on her elbows. He quickly averted his eyes, saying nothing, and blinked into the bathroom for a towel. When he returned, he cleaned up the sticky mess he had made all over her while she laid there, still silent.
When that task was done, he didn’t know what else to do, and he sat nervously on the edge of the bed, feeling hot with shame. She sat up fully and finally spoke.
“Are you ok?”
That was the first thing she asked him, after all of that. After being made to lie still while Five did whatever sick thing he wanted to her, only to have him jerk himself off onto her stomach. Five just couldn’t believe she was taking this much abuse, and it turned his stomach a little. To know that he was allowing this to continue, that he was the cause of this abuse. It would be one thing if this was a mutual fantasy, but it wasn’t. And she didn’t even know the half of it.
“Yeah, why?” Five asked with a slight tone of annoyance.
She touched his shoulder, lightly, and he tried not recoil from her hand. “If there’s something you need to tell me, you know you can. I won’t care. I love you.”
And there it was. Those three fucking words that made him want to pull his hair out and scream. Instead, he whipped his head in her direction, his building guilt and anger towards himself finally unleashed.
“Why do you keep telling me that? Why?!”
She shrunk back a little. “That I love you? Because I do.”
Five sighed heavily and started pulling his underwear back on. “Do you really have that little respect for yourself? Are you that pathetic?” He stood over her now, his voice hard while she backed further away from him on the bed.
“I…I’m sorry…” her voice was trembling and he could see tears forming in her eyes.
“Jesus Christ! Now you’re sorry? For what? Don’t you see what’s happening here? I’m never going to love you, ok. So, if you think you’re going to wear me down or make me fall in love with you somehow, that’s not going to happen. Do you understand what I’m telling you? I don’t love you!” He emphasized these last words, practically yelling them to get his point across.
Five watched as her face crumbled, the last bit of hope she had been clinging to crushed in a second with his words. She began to cry and she buried her face in her hands. Her words were muffled as she whimpered pitifully.
“You told me you needed me.”
Five lowered his voice so it was softer. But his words were just as cruel. “I used to need you. I don’t anymore.”
The next day, Five was walking into the thrift store again. He hadn’t needed to make up an excuse this time. She was gone. Out of his life for good, now. He felt badly about how he treated her; horribly actually. He had always known he was a monster inside, but this was the first time he had let it escape like that. Let it rear its ugly head and completely destroy another person. A person he supposedly cared about. But he couldn’t think about that now. He needed to speak with Dolores.
Ignoring the side eye from the sales person at the counter, Five walked up to the front window. She was still there, just like always. Same red dress, same floppy sun hat.
“I have to tell you something, Dolores. Something important.”
Ok, go ahead. I’m listening.
“I want to be with you. And only you. She’s gone now. We can be together. That is, if you’ll have me.”
Of course, Five. I always want to be with you. But what happened with her?
“Nothing. She just finally saw through me. Saw that was I really in love with someone else.”
You love me?
“I love you, Dolores. I always have.”
The next day, Five came back. Only this time he hoped it would be his last time. After discussing it in secret with Dolores, they had settled on a plan. A plan to get her out of there and back home with him where she belonged. It should be fairly straight forward, but just in case, Five’s pistol was loaded and ready inside the waistband of his pants if needed. Just like last time, he wasn’t going to leave her without a fight.
Instead of trying to avoid the sales clerk, this time he approached the counter right away. It was a stupid, convoluted story that he had conjured up the night before. Something about how he had accidentally donated an item a few days prior, but realized he needed it back. Would the clerk mind checking in the back to see if he could find it?
Five had used as much charm as he could manage, hoping he seemed sincere and not in any way crazy. The clerk seemed to buy it, although he did give Five a few odd looks. Once he was behind the door that led to the back warehouse, Five took his chance.
Carefully but quickly, he released Dolores from the display stand she was attached to. It took a little longer than he had anticipated, and Five kept looking nervously toward the counter, hoping the sales clerk would take a while. Finally, she was free. He lowered her from the raised platform in the window and into his arms. He cradled her gently for a moment, before taking one more glance around. Seeing that the coast was clear, he blinked the two of them out into the alley behind the store.
Once he teleported them several more blocks away, he finally stopped and rested. He highly doubted anyone was going to miss a decades-old mannequin from a dusty old thrift store. Five caressed her face and kissed her lips. It felt so good. So familiar. He immediately felt more at peace than he had in years.
Back home, Five showed Dolores around. This would be her home now, too. He promised he would buy her some better clothes, and do away with that awful hat. But for the time being, he just wanted to stay inside and rekindle their love.
“I love you, Dolores. I’m sorry I ever left you.” He nuzzled against her smooth cheek with his own.
I love you, too, Five. We can be together now, right? Just the two of us?
“Yes, my darling. Nothing will come between us again. I promise.”

YES A FELLOW GALE LOVER! i can't resist those big brown eyes.
F, K, W for Mr. Gale bg3?
I love our beautiful dork of a mage!!! Also I got another request for Gale but the only difference in letters was that they requested D as well, so I'll just put all of those in this post.
Also, writing for BG3 characters is so weird because there's like... actual, canon information about their sex lives? Like, I'm so used to taking what's in canon and extrapolating what sex with a character might be like in a purely hypothetical sense, but with BG3 it's like... I have actually fucked Gale. I was there, it was awesome.
Alphabet prompts - Gale (BG3)
D (dirty secret), F (favorite position), K (kink), W (wild card)
NSFW 18+
Dirty secret: Over the years, Gale has maintained something of a preoccupation with envisioning all of the erotic potential in magic, to the point that he has a mental (maybe physical too) list of spells he wants to experiment with sexually. From the more obvious, like utilizing illusions to create more stimulating visuals, or Mage Hand to add to how he's able to touch you, to the somewhat creative, like the myriad uses of Alter Self, all the way to more eclectic options, like utilizing Web or Shape Stone for bondage purposes, or... with a HUGE amount of focus applied to doing so safely without harming you... some experimentation with Evard's Black Tentacles. With time and trust, he may even be willing to delve into mind affects like Dominate Person, if you request it. Needless to say, he's imagined it all.
Favorite position: Leaving aside whatever position one would consider "melding consciousnesses in the weave," to be- even while being intimate in a more traditionally "physical" way, Gale prefers to feel as much of your body against his as possible. He wants to be positively tangled in you, immersed in your touch, your scent, every amount of you he can feel and cherish. This means he's happy with missionary, with spooning you, with fucking you deep and steady from behind while pressing his body against yours on the bed- anything so long as he can hold you close and feel as intimately connected to you as possible.
Kink: I suppose we've already discussed extensively what might be considered a "magic kink" of sorts- but other than this, it absolutely has to be a praise kink. Telling Gale in no uncertain terms exactly how good he makes you feel and how dearly you adore him will have his cock throbbing hard and his pulse pounding, desperate to truly earn such praise and show you how eager he is to live up to it. That said, he will absolutely give as much as he receives; Gale can't tell you enough how breathtaking you are and how he'd give anything to hear you cry out his name each and every night. His silver tongue will never get tired- no matter how it's put to use.
Wild card: Listen. Maybe this isn't much of a headcanon, since his "flirting by asking you if you've ever read books where the heat of battle makes people horny" moment in act 2 basically implies this as canon- but Gale is a regular smut connoisseur. He's the type to get extremely invested and rather snobbish about it as well- my guy has got some hot takes. He's picky about the tone, quality and realism (for the sake of immersion, of course, he's not so boorish as to insist on realism at the detriment of artistry), but when it lands, he'll read with rapt attention, finding himself incredibly attached to the characters, their dynamic, the romance of it all. It only makes him long for you more desperately; yours is a love that would shame any prose or poetry, after all.

[FLUFFBRUARY FIC] Love, Rain Down on Me
Rated: M Word Count: 2272 Tags: Fluffbruary, Fluffbruary 2024, fluff, human AU, writer!Dream, professor!Hob, stargazing, care packages, acts of service, kisses in the rain, realizations, confessions, Dream of the Endless | Morpheus loves Hob Gadling, Hob Gadling loves Dream of the Endless | Morpheus, 5+1 fic
Notes: Final entry for Fluffbruary 2024; turns out I wasn't done with this Umbrella Boys AU just yet. Shoutout to @academicblorbo for asking about Dream's pov and suggesting the first 'I love you' as an idea; my brain said 'Oh yes' 1489-Hob-style and while this is not exactly what I first envisioned, I'm still happy with where we ended up.
Fluffbruary Prompts: Day 25: fox twilight sweat Day 26: fluff woolly care package Day 27: table blush laundry Day 28: reward shelter piano Day 29: breakfast valley sign alt prompts: wish hot solid
Summary: 5 times those Three Little Words go unspoken, and one time they do not
On AO3
1. The first time Dream realizes it, Hob has taken him to the astronomy department at the college, after hours, to look at the stars. "Gale lent me the key," Hob had laughed when Dream expressed trepidation about breaking into Hob's place of work. "I'm allowed to come moon over the stars sometimes, and I'm allowed to bring you with me if I want."
So they are taking turns looking through the telescope, peering into the perpetual twilight of the heavens and marveling at the beauty that cannot be properly seen with the naked eye nor from within the light-polluted aura of the city. Hob laughs when Dream observes as much. "Maybe come end of summer we'll take a drive out of the city, camp out for a night in the countryside and do some real stargazing. Sound good?"
And Dream looks at him, this beautiful man squinting up at the skies through his colleague's telescope, the way his hair falls around his face, the scruff of his three-week-old beard and the elegant line of his nose, this beautiful man who offers anything he thinks Dream might like as if it's nothing. Hob has shared with him the woes of past breakups, the consensus that he is too intense, moves too fast, is too much to put up with, and he has admonished Dream to please please tell him if he ever oversteps or pushes too hard, too far because he is trying to do better, but all Dream can think in this moment is how warm he feels in Hob's affections, how priveleged to receive his time and attention.
I love this man, he realizes, like camellias blossoming beneath his ribs, like the sun breaking over the horizon.
"Dream?" Hob is looking at him now instead of the stars, eyebrows raised, mouth curved in a patiently-amused smile.
"That. Would be lovely," Dream answers at last, smiling warmly back at Hob, and cradles his newfound revelation close in the hollow of his chest.
2. The second time, Hob is away at a conference and Dream has emerged from a morning of fitful writing to discover a neatly-wrapped package delivered for him, tied with a ruby red bow. His sister has brought it up and left it by his door rather than interrupting his writing time, as they've agreed. Upon opening it, he finds a letter from Hob atop an airtight plastic container.
Hey Dream, reads the letter, just wanted to say that I'll miss you while I'm gone and can't wait to lavish you with sweet kisses when I get back. Meantime, I made you some of those lavender-rosemary-lemon biscuits you love and here's my shirt you can sleep with if you want. Enjoy ~♥
Delighted by the package and the letter and the biscuits, and the intent behind them, Dream lifts the container out of the box; beneath it, there is a compact umbrella nestled in what turns out to be one of Hob's favorite t-shirts, worn just enough to smell like him. Dream presses it to his face and inhales, absurdly touched, and smiles as he picks up the umbrella.
Of course Hob has sent him an umbrella; that is their 'thing', that is how they met, and he is also terrible at remembering to bring one with him. Tied to the handle he finds a piece of card stock about the size of his palm, with a drawing penciled on one side. It's a rough cartoon figure that is recognizably Hob, smiling brightly and holding a sunny yellow cocktail umbrella that has been carefully attached through the card so that Hob's penciled hand appears to grasp the toothpick handle. Don't forget! says his speech bubble, and Dream feels tears pricking at the corner of his eyes as his smile grows too wide for his face to contain.
Tumblr media
I love you, Hob Gadling, he thinks, both hands wrapped around the umbrella, and presses his lips gently to cartoon-Hob's precious happy little face.
3. "You did not have to do my washing, Hob," Dream protests, somewhat futilely as the deed is already done, dried, and being folded. "I am a grown man, capable of doing my own laundry." Never mind that his clothes had been accumulating in Hob's flat all week while he worked through additional revisions to The Seeds of Fate; Hob's space was conducive to this particular story, he found, and Hob was generous in allowing him to hole up here during the day while Hob was at work and on into the evenings when he returned, overnight when Dream wished it.
Hob shrugs. "They were here, I had a load of darks, they fit. Don't worry, my washing powder's the allergy-free stuff and I checked your tags for temps and such. Which reminds me." He sets the black jeans he just folded aside, takes up a pair of his own. "Your fancy lace shirt's hanging in the shower; hand washed it in cold just like it said and put it up to drip-dry."
Dream is keenly struck by the soft warmth of Hob choosing to do mundane everyday chores for him, taking care with his things, simply because he wants to and he can. It is not new, by any means; Hob has engaged in little acts of service the whole of the time Dream has been acquainted with him, from the very moment he first offered shared use of his umbrella to Dream. The domesticity of this moment settles something deep within him, something that sings of home and happiness and contentment.
"Hob Gadling, you are a chivalrous and wonderful man," he says, when what he means is I love you. "Truly, you make my life so much easier." He comes close, presses a kiss to Hob's cheek.
Hob just smiles, soft and warm and pleased, and continues folding his laundry. "You're welcome, duck. My pleasure."
4. "Here, take ours," Hob says, handing his umbrella to the woman with the toddler at the bus stop as the skies open up.
"Oh I couldn't!" Her eyes dart from the umbrella (which Hob is of course holding over her and her child) to Dream and back to Hob. "That's very kind, but then you'll get soaked!"
"We're not far," Hob assures, pressing the umbrella into her hand. "I insist. We'll be fine."
"Well…if you're quite certain?" She clutches it gratefully.
"Of course. Take care." Hob offers a friendly smile, the kind that makes his nose scrunch up adorably, and they turn to leave.
"Thank you!" the woman calls after them.
Dream finds that he doesn't mind the rain, is not inclined to run for shelter, not with Hob beside him, not when their getting soaked is because Hob does not hesitate to offer kindness to strangers. It gives him a warm glow inside, to know that he loves a man who works to put kindness out into the world, to brighten the days of those around him when he can. Damp clothes and wet hair are a small price to pay, and the summer rain is not so cold.
Halfway to Hob's flat, Dream steps around in front of him and drapes his arms behind Hob's neck. "That was a very kind thing you did," he murmurs, stepping backwards, drawing Hob with him so they do not stop moving onward. It is very much like a slow sort of dance down the street, and Hob's arms wrapping about his waist only heighten that impression.
"Yeah?" Hob shrugs, smiling. "She needed it." Like it is truly that simple.
To Hob, it is.
Dream kisses him, pressing close while the rain falls upon them. "Not many would give up their own comfort for a stranger." His lips brush Hob's with the words and then Hob is drawing him back in, warm, hungry. Dream fancies he can taste the rain, between them.
"Not a hardship, not when I've got you to keep me company," Hob finally says, nipping softly at his lips, water dripping steadily from a loose lock of hair.
"Such things you say." Dream is intoxicated with the moment, the atmosphere, the swelling of feeling he holds for this man and the tender warmth in Hob's eyes gazing back at him while the skies wash the world around them in soft hazy grey.
I love you, he thinks, kissing Hob again, pulling him close in the falling rain, I love you, I love you, I LOVE you—
5. He thinks it next when he is tangled with Hob in his bed, breathless and sweating and coming apart in Hob's practiced hands, when every time Hob moves within him he is crying out, starlight bursting behind his eyes.
He thinks it as Hob shivers to a halt, pulsing hot inside him, trembling in his arms.
He thinks it laying in Hob's embrace after, Hob's chest solid and warm beneath his ear, rising gently with each of Hob's sleeping breaths. I love you, I love you, I love you, he whispers in his head, in time with the steady beat of Hob's heart, and lets himself drift to sleep, content.
One day, one day when the moment is right, he will say it aloud; until then, he hoards it like a precious secret safe in his heart.
+1 Dream wakes on Sunday with a groan, protesting the sunbeams that have found his face; they had not closed Hob's bedroom curtains last night and he is paying the price for this oversight now.
"Morning, sleeping beauty," Hob says, leaning on one elbow beside Dream with his head propped in his hand. He is supremely unbothered by the brightness, leading Dream to surmise he awoke some time ago.
"You are watching me sleep, now? You will not convince me that it is entertaining." He blinks once, twice, his eyes still heavy with sleep.
"Entertaining is not the word, no, but I do enjoy it. You're so pretty when you're asleep, soft and relaxed and at peace. I love that I get to see it." Hob smiles, reaches to trace a fingertip down his cheekbone. "Was trying to decide what to make you for breakfast, actually."
Dream squirms onto his back, throws an arm over his eyes, stretches his toes. "You need not make such effort—" He cuts himself off with a jaw-cracking yawn.
"You're worth it, though," Hob says easily, and Dream rolls his head to the side, meets Hob's eyes again. The sun is striking them exactly right, illuminating the depths of the brown to amber, honey.
He is so beautiful.
"Very well." Dream smiles, indulgent, lazy. "What will you be offering to please my discerning palette?"
"Fry you up an egg and a couple slices of bread? Tomato too, if you want. Blueberry jam for your toast and your sweet tooth. And if you're hungry enough, a nice hot juicy sausage?" He waggles his eyebrows.
Dream arches one of his own in return, and Hob grins. "Yeah alright, that's for later. But I will cook you actual sausage too if you like."
"I will take actual sausage with breakfast, yes, and 'sausage' when I am awake enough to enjoy it." He swings himself out of Hob's bed and makes his way to the toilet, the warm sound of Hob's laughter following him.
By the time he wanders into the kitchen, having donned his pants and a t-shirt of Hob's, bare feet and bare legs and bare arms because he's comfortable and because he knows Hob likes it, Hob has sausages and tomatoes frying in one pan with eggs and bread in another. He's tied an apron over his bare chest and joggers, captured most of his hair in an elastic band, is whistling cheerfully over the stovetop with a spatula in hand. The kettle is going, and Dream retrieves two mugs from the cupboard.
He preps Hob's tea once it's steeped, a quarter the milk and sugar that he puts in his own, and offers it to Hob to taste once he's finished plating their breakfast.
"Perfect," Hob pronounces, handing it back and picking up the plates to carry to the table. "Why's it always taste best when you make it?"
"I infuse it with my charming personality," Dream quips, deadpan, and Hob huffs a laugh.
"God, I love you," he says, his smile still broad, bright enough to rival the morning sun outside the kitchen window; and then he stills.
Dream, too, has gone still; Hob has never said those words to him before, and it sets something joyful and effervescent singing through his veins.
Hob loves him.
Hob loves him.
But Hob is shrinking in on himself, just a little, as if he could hide behind the plates in his hands and the apron he wears—every inch the man who fears (too much too fast I always come on too strong) the consequence of words he had not intended to speak aloud. Dream will be sad about this later, that he has failed somehow to make clear to Hob beyond the shadow of any doubt how welcome his affections are, how endearing his intensity, and he will vow to do better; but now, in the moment, with his heart soaring, the solution is simple, so simple, as easy as breathing.
He has never said the words aloud either, but they are as familiar to him as the beating of his own heart and they are spoken with as little effort.
"And I love you, Hob Gadling." He leans over the corner of the table, kisses Hob soft and sweet on his blossoming smile. "Now, where is my blueberry jam?"

Third Fate - Achilles x Fiancee!Reader
Tumblr media
Requested by Anon
" Hey, I found your tumblr and I'm loving what you do here, mostly troy. I don't know if you're getting requests, but if you are, you can make one for Achilles based on that scene where he's told he can go and win glory in battle and have his name spoken for centuries or he can stay and be loved, have children, wife? I would love to see Achilles receive more love, with a wife and children. Feel free to make any changes you want, thank you very much in advance."
Hi, anon! I got this way sooner than what i expected because I was really in the mood to write it. The bittersweet mix of angst and fluff was exactly what I wanted to get into this week. Hope you will enjoy it :)
For a lenght concern i kept it in a pre war, pre marriage discussion of the prophecy. If once you read it you happen to like what i wrote here let me know and I can post a continuation showing what happens next ( i originally planned to do so, but it became too long so i prefer to save that for a second part)
Word Count 3.200
Warnings: Standard Achilles sexyness ( no smut, but if you watched the film you understand what I mean with this.) Some aspects of both, the canon of the film and the source material it is based on, were changed to fit the request in my envision of the story.
Summary: Terrible news disrupt the eve of your engagement to Achilles. He is called to fight in Troy and the spectacular war that the gossip foretells seems to be the destiny of greatness he had always dreamed with, but the price he has to pay for it is his happiness with you. The three days ultimatum Odysseus gave him is his moment to decide, but he won't do it without you.
Note: Inspired by two prompts by @creativepromptsforwriting
Prompt 1014 - " Well, the prophecy was a bit unclear about this part."
Prompt 1010 - " Let's not worry about the future. Let's just take this one kiss at a time."
"I like how that sounds."

There was no easy way for him to explain to you what he had just found out. After Odysseus arrived bringing the news of the war in Asia you were already sad thinking of the distance that would keep your fiancé far away from you for an uncertain amount of time, but the real hardships surpassed your expectations. The whispers of fame claimed the conflict escalated enough to become the greatest war your world had ever seen, but you still imagined it as one war like many others he fought before. No matter the challenges found in battle, Achilles would always return to you.
Except that he wouldn’t,not from Troy. His mother told him of an old prophecy announced before his birth assuring that war would be the peak of his consecration as a hero, but the price for this glorification was his death. From this fact fate allowed him only two options of choice. He could either stay in Greece and be loved during his lifetime knowing history would forget him, or go to Troy to make his name immortal facing his doom.
To the end of his tale all you could do was cry, convinced that you were losing him forever. All your plans faded in just one instant, the life you dreamed together was gone.
“ I’m not dead yet, look at me.” He sweetly mocked you. “ How can you be so sure already that I’m here to tell you I’m abandoning you to get myself killed?”
You could tell he was trying, but that wasn’t making it any better.
“ If you don’t go, you will regret it. “ Was your dry comeback. “I know you, Achilles. You live to fight, staying away from the battlefield feels to you like a punishment. I can never keep you for long, not even when war calls you to fight other greeks. Why would it be different this time? You were born for this war, not to labrate the fields and raise goats. If Troy is the fate of greatness that you deserve, I can’t ask you to abandon this life purpose for the sake of our wedding.”
Despite how much he loved to see people worshiping as a hero, he was very aware to be a man in your eyes. Your approach was realistic and showed how well you knew him, much better than some of the men bleeding with him in war. If you fell for him, you did it knowing what to expect. Begging him to change his nature to fit the requirements of peaceful domesticity was never in your plans and you wouldn’t try it even if you were desperate.
That didn’t mean he wouldn’t be able to surprise you on occasions, exactly as he did when he proposed to you freshly arrived from the victory against King Triopas and his giant Boagrius.
“ Do you think I wouldn’t give it all away for you? Then I guess you don’t know me as well as you claim. “ He teased you with insistence. “ I can do well raising horses, I have some magnificent ones already. Do you know that horses are one of the most remarkable exportations of the trojans? If their city gets sacked by greeks and I manage to buy a few of theirs to mix with mine we would get an excellent rare breed. “
You cleaned your face and warned him against the mockery.
“ Don’t play with me! With the memories of your proposal still fresh, fate demands me to let you go. Being your wife is my dream, but I can’t have you knowing I would be destroying everything you worked so hard for. The immortality of your name is a cause bigger than me, the happy marriage we could have had or the children I could have given you. It can’t be a coincidence that this war gets unleashed precisely now, just as we are taking the first step to formalize our union.”
“ They are pressuring me to choose, it’s true, but the load of this decision lies in the fact that I want both more than anything.”
Achilles interrupted himself to take your hand, inviting you to abandon the distance you were forcing ever since he began to explain the situation.
“ I need you by my side, it’s the only vulnerability I have ever allowed myself. A glorifying death doesn’t scare me, but surviving far enough without you would be torture.”
Your lips parted in sincere amazement for that confession, so unusual of him.
“ A slow agony. If the war doesn’t kill me first, lovesickness will.” He continued. “ The comfort of lonely men fighting in foreign lands is dreaming with their distant wives at night, the hope of returning to them makes life bearable. I would not have this, from the moment I would board my ship I will be aware you are lost to me. All I would have is the wound of my pierced heart still bleeding love for you and plenty of time to wonder how wonderful it would have been to make you mine… Sooner or later I would lose my mind. Knowing glorious death would be the only comfort already promised to me, I would roam the battlefield searching for it. It’s most likely I would perform incredible acts worthy of being remembered, but I would do it as the insane man who is desperately looking for the warrior meant to kill him. The poets would write for centuries about the madness of Achilles.”
“ Aren’t they singing that already? Many people have described you as a madman.” You teased him, unsure of how to comfort him. “ Not that I mind, but that is a fact.”
“ They have no idea, unfulfilled passion would consume me in such an incredible way that Paris would feel a reasonable man hearing about me.”
He dragged you even closer so he could hold you in his arms and you fell for his touch chuckling sweetly.
“ Would you be competing against both princes at once while fighting the trojans?”
“ The warrior prince and the lover boy wish they could compare to me, I win in each one of their expertise areas. “ He followed your provocation, then whispered at you. “ I fight as fiercely as I love. “
You bit your bottom lip to avoid an audible response, but your flustered face was speaking for you. For an instant you felt as if nothing had changed between you and you have never heard the terrible omens.
“... Maybe that’s why no woman is meant to have you, the great goddesses would be jealous. “ You theorized out loud while caressing his cheek. “ It’s too much, like Icharus flying too close to the sun… Although I would be lying if I deny I would gladly burn and fall for you.”
Achilles stopped the flow of words taking your breath away with kisses that numb your senses, but not your mind. He had the habit of expressing important things in short, ambiguous phrases or not saying anything at all. When the hungry kissing began to escalate and you felt his hands roaming the sides of your body you understood that was his answer. If he would be saying goodbye, he would at least try to keep himself distant to make it easier for both of you. Given that his involvement on the war would ruin your chances to formalize, he would be encouraging you to find someone else.
He was pulling up your skirt slowly, evidently searching for the heat underneath. The opposite of what you would need from him if he would be about to leave you, so you stopped him right away because you realized what that meant.
" This isn't the time to act impulsively. I know you love me as strongly as i love you, but you have to choose what truly matters the most to you. If you decide to stay, others will be making history and maybe the pleasures of the thalamus will not be enough to cure the resentment for what you will be missing. Think carefully, hearts can change and the future wife you adore now can one day become the load that brought you down. "
Although a sensical objection, that didn't seem to preoccupy him much.
" Never, you were made for me. The omens were very clear, staying grants me a blissful life with you for the price of letting my name fade. I have only two options: be loved and forgotten or waste my life following the fool's orders until death will reward me with immortal glory. Between spending the rest of my life with you or with Agamemnon, I think it's clear where I would rather be. "
The sacrifice was too great, ultimate proof of his love for you. Behind that relaxed phrasing Achilles attempted to de-dramatize giving up his biggest personal dream for the one you shared, what you still considered wasn’t fair.
Responding with an equal offer was not only what your heart began to crave, but an alternative solution neither of you had considered.
“ There has to be another way, your mother never said what I must do in all of this.”
He wasn’t sure of where you wanted to point, but began to suspect it.
“ Well, the prophecy was a bit unclear about this part.”
The mischievous happiness renewed in your eyes let him know you had just found hope in the most insane of places.
“ Don’t give me that look, this is what happens for leaving you a while alone with Odysseus! Now you think you can outsmart destiny and find me a third end.”
You smirked with pride before presenting your idea.
“ I can’t interfere with yours, only my own. If no part is clearly stated for me in this sacred command sent to you, then nothing stops me from choosing one. Instead of having you abandon your dream to stay with me, I’ll follow it with you.”
His eyes were wide open staring at you, disbelief making him feel you were then playing with him.
“ Are you telling me we could just get married and board the ship to Troy the morning after our wedding night? What kind of honorable nuptials would that be? When all the wives of the country would be giving their farewell to their husbands, would you follow me like slaves are meant to? War holds no virtuous position for a woman to occupy, it would be a stain to your reputation your parents would curse me for. “
“ If your baby cousin can go, so can I.” You justified yourself.” To stop me you will have to stop Patroclus and we know that is not going to happen.”
The exactitude of your threat made him feel frustrated. Not because he wouldn’t love having you with him, but since he was refusing to publicly humiliate you like that. All Greece would know you were going to be the only wife following her husband to Troy for unexplainable reasons and they could judge your morals. Decent wives were meant to wait for their husbands and take care of their homes, not let passion distract them from their social duties. War camps were masculine places meant to be despised by the women, since their only female presence was typically in a state of degradation. Besides, Helen had already caused a moral breach shaming the greek concept of marriage and that was the reason pushing the fight. People would be judgemental of your relationship, they would question you for immorality and him for lacking authority to make you stay like a normal wife should.
He wasn’t thinking about him anymore, of protecting his name and the weight of his masculine prestige. He was extremely worried about you and the consequences it could bring when he wouldn’t be there to protect you.
“ Do you sincerely want to go to Troy and watch me die?”
“ It’s still better than watching you sail knowing you will never come back.” You terminated in response . “ I have heard the city is built to withstand a ten year siege, enough time for us to have a life together before destiny will reclaim you.”
Arguing with you was hard, even if the idea was insane you would find ways to make it sound logical.
“ A camp on the trojan beach is no place to start a family. “ He replicated softly, just letting you know he was trying to make you understand you couldn’t ask that. “ What are we going to do when the children come? Because they will, eventually. If you become my wife no omen of death is going to stop me from making love to you.”
You smirked innocently, ready to deliver a justification.
“ I'm not naive, Achilles! Do you think I don’t know what happens in those camps? Captives get pregnant all the time, so it's not impossible to go through it there. It may not be ideal, but I can make it. If you would leave me here and break our relationship to protect me from your fate, you could still put a baby inside your finest war trophy girl.”
“ And who said I’m leaving?” He questioned you. “ I’m not doing it and I am not breaking up with you. Now stop with this nonsense, my wife can’t be giving birth surrounded by death.”
“ But trojan women can? Because births aren’t going to stop there. “ You insisted, sitting near and acting as if you were two civil parts on a trial. “ Hector has a baby boy, if he can be a father in this mess so can you.”
The provocation made him hold a groan, but he turned back and kicked the nearest surface as a frustration release outlet.
“ It’s different for him, his wife is a princess and they have a city to defend. “ He tried to articulate in fast speaking, doing all he could to not show signs of anger growing because of your stubbornness. “ I don’t want you to have the life of a war captive, to denigrate yourself for me.”
It was very sweet, you were feeling his pain but he had to understand yours too.
“ As long as you are still breathing I will not accept a life without you. When the time comes I will embrace grief, but I’ll cry for you as your widow. In the meantime I don't want no one else, I’ll have the ground of your tent as thalamus and I’ll have your children.”
He gave a few steps towards you, presenting one more solid concern.
“ What will be of all of you when I'm gone?”
That should have been a strong preoccupation making you desist, but it didn’t.
“ We will be alright. They will inherit your share of the sacking, we know your death is linked to the fall of Troy so I can assume we will win something. Given that the House of Aeacus would possess fresh new heirs to renew the bloodline, I may even be able to bargain with Agamemnon the throne of Phthia for one of them. He hates you, but he would not be politically capable to refuse if you become the maximum fallen hero of the war he just won.”
At that point he felt true powerlessness because he just couldn’t convince you out of it for your own good.
“ They can’t grow in a warzone, think of the ruthless people they will become.  Those kids would not know any better until it would be too late for them. I don’t want a soulless soldier as heir, people saying Achilles’ son has surpassed the brutality of the father.”
“ Let our little monsters run free through the camp, they will turn out fine if we guide them right. “ You imagined out loud, not scared at all by the dark warning. “ I can’t wait to see them messing around, you will be in tears the first time one of them will grab a wooden sword trying to copy their father.”
Illusion was starting to make his negative stance harder to maintain, he loved what you were saying. It sounded so wonderful that he couldn’t help find some sensical feeling in it. There was only one detail you haven’t solved for his resistance to fall completely.
“ How would I fight the enemy worried for you? You will be the only married woman around thousands of men and although I'm terrifying to most of them, I can’t keep control at all times. Some of those men will not be myrmidons, they will not know who you are.”
“ That’s the best part: I’ll keep Patroclus bussy.” You announced with excitement, knowing well he wouldn’t resist it. “ I know you don’t trust him in an open battleground yet, but he would not accept being left behind so you have to take him or he would never forgive you. With me on board you have a safe mission to give him that would keep him away from combat but still make him feel a hero. By the time you will judge him ready to charge into battle my presence will be naturalized and his vigilant eye won’t be needed anymore.”
Hope was truly hitting him because he started to feel as if the crazy plan could work if you all would make it work out. Most of the persons he loved the most could be with him for the rest of his lifetime, making the surviving gap before the consecration worth living. His little cousin, his best friend and his wife along with his future children all gathered like some warrior family.
A taste of happiness before the end, walk the two roads simultaneously into a third fate.
“ Blessed be your stubbornness, you wonderful woman! “ He praised you, surprise making his attitude switch as he rushed towards you. “ How can you be in every detail? You are insane, but I love you. I don’t deserve you, I can’t believe this.”
He made you smile and by that point you knew you were about to win.
“What exactly? My incredible ingeniousness, my gorgeous looks?”
“ That you love me so much, '' He admitted, then picked you up bridal style. “ That you will be my wife and I will brag about having you to both greeks and trojans. I will not rest until you will be the most honored person in that camp alongside me, your sacrifice will be part of my legend and maybe that will be my start to repay you. “
His immense gratitude was making you chuckle due to the unusual intensity, but he wouldn’t stop.
“ I’ll love you to my last breath, I promise you that.”
You were all smiles while caressing the strands of hair falling at the sides of his face.
“That’s all I want. No other payment you can offer matters to me because my will for sacrifice comes from love, just like yours.” You purred blissfully. “ Let’s not worry about the future, let’s just take this one kiss at a time.”
Mesmerized as he was, he replied against your lips.
“ I like how that sounds.”

I loooooove cats, so my request is for tony and fem reader, they live together (just dating, engaged or married, you decide) and reader is dropping hints that she wants a baby cat and tony pretends that he's not listening, one day he arrive home with a cute baby ginger cat with beautiful green eyes and she's so so so so so happy. She named him tony jr. (of course tony loved the name) and lots of cuddles with tony and their new baby cat please ❤️🐈
Making a new friend
Tumblr media
PAIRING | Husband!Tony Stark x Wife!Avenger!Female!Reader
WORD COUNT | 1.5K
SUMMARY | You've been dropping hints about adding a little feline friend to your family for a long time, but when it seems Tony doesn't pick up on your hints, you drop the subject altogether. That is until he suddenly shows up with a little ginger cat, just like the one you have told him about all this time.
WARNING(S) | This is your official trigger warning. Do not proceed if any of these topics upset you. Tony seemingly can't take a hint, tooth-rottingly sweet fluff at the end, implied smut (implied oral F&M receiving), light swearing.
A/N | When I read your request I couldn't stop thinking about puss in boots, so that's exactly what I envisioned the little fella to look like! I hope you enjoy this tooth rotting amount of fluff! 🖤
Likes, comments and reblogs will be very much appreciated 🩷

You, Tony, and all the other Avengers are holding a little afterparty after one of his parties, and you're situated in Tony's lap. ''You know what I think would make our life even better? A ginger cat! They're so adorable and-'' is all you can say before Tony captures your lips with his.
He has heard you talk about that very same cat a million times by now, and he has definitely gotten the hint, but he's just waiting for the right time to surprise you with one.
''Hey!'' you say as you playfully slap his chest because he cut you off mid-sentence.
''What? Am I not allowed to kiss my beautiful wife anymore?'' he says, with a slight offense in his tone.
''Well... you can..., but it's not nice to cut me off mid-sentence,'' you say with a slight pout.
''I'm sorry, Pumpkin, I'll make sure it won't happen again,'' he tells you, and he seals his promise with another kiss which makes you melt into his embrace.
When you pull back, you turn to face Bucky, looking at him with a deadly serious face. ''Bucky? Can I please cuddle with Alpine? Because Tony won't give me a cat - which I think is very unfair!'' you say with a glare as you turn back to Tony.
''Alright, doll. I'll just get her real quick, so please stay where you are so you can cuddle her,'' he says before getting up with a huge smile.
''See? Bucky will let me cuddle with Alpine. But I still don't understand why I can't have my cat, and he does. You're married to me, not him!'' you tell Tony, who is trying his hardest not to laugh.
''For starters, he tried to kill me, and you haven't yet, so that's a good reason I didn't marry him. And secondly, I fell in love with you, Pumpkin, so, of course, I'm married to you,'' he tells you, and you calm a little at those words.
''Okay-'' is all you say before you hear the signature purr of little Miss Alpine.
''Alpine!'' you say, and you jump up, forgetting all about Tony's words.
You take the white fur ball from Bucky's arms and immediately snuggle your face into her. ''Hello, little one; I missed you so much!''
''You should really get her-''
''Shut it, Wilson. Don't give her any more ideas,'' Tony snaps, but you're too busy to notice it, all your attention going to Alpine right now. And if that wasn't enough, you're too drunk to remember this conversation the next day, regardless.
Tumblr media
''Good morning, sleepy head,'' Tony whispers in your ear, and you groan.
''How much did I have to drink last night?'' you ask, remembering nothing from the party.
''Enough to be funny, but not enough to be completely blacked out,'' he says as he helps you sit up, the room around you still dark. He hands you a water bottle and some aspirin to help with your pounding headache.
''Please don't tell me I did something embarrassing...'' you sigh before taking it and chugging almost the entire bottle.
''No, you just cuddled with Alpine, is all,'' he says with an adoring smile.
''Oh, speaking of her, when are you finally getting me a cat? I really want one, and I don't think it's fair you let Bucky have her, but I, your actual wife, who you promised to love forever and always, can't have one. Unfair,'' you say as you cross your arms with a slight pout.
''If you don't stop that right now, you will never get one. I had half a mind to get you one soon, but now you're not getting one,'' Tony says.
''You were getting me a cat?!'' you say, and your hangover is completely forgotten as you look at Tony.
''Not anymore,'' he shrugs and gets up from the bed, but you quickly grab his hand, not seeing the smile forming on Tony's lips.
''I'm so sorry; I didn't mean it like that. It's just that I've wanted one for so long...'' you sigh, softly holding his hands as tears form in your eyes.
''How about this, we just pause this conversation for now, and if you're a good girl for me, I will get you something else you really want? And no, not a cat. I'm not ready for that kind of commitment,'' Tony quickly adds.
''Okay, but only if you shower with me and let me suck you off this time. You went down on me last time, so now it's my turn again,'' you say with a glint of mischief in your eyes.
''Deal!'' he says, picking you up and running to the shower with you in his arms as you shriek.
Tumblr media
A few months passed, and here you are, still without a cat and still sad about it.
You're in the living room with your book, and Bucky walks in with Alpine in his arms, but when he sees you sitting there, he knows you could use some kitty cuddles.
''I just don't think it's fair...'' you sigh as you scratch Alpine between her ears. She decided that your lap was the perfect place to nap, and you weren't one to complain.
''Maybe Tony just wants to surprise you, doll. Wouldn't be the first time he goes all out for you,'' he says as a reminder of your wedding.
''You're right. But thank you for letting me cuddle with Alpine for now; I'm glad she loves me as much as she does,'' you say with a small smile as she purrs at you.
''No problem, doll. I'm just glad someone finally took the little shit off my hands; she's been keeping me awake all night,'' Bucky sighs.
''Honestly, I need to drop it and accept that I just have to cuddle with him and Miss Alpine over here,'' you say, knowing that letting it go is the best option right now.
But Bucky is right because Tony is planning a surprise, and it just so happens that your birthday is right around the corner, too.
Tumblr media
The morning of your birthday is here, and you got woken up in the perfect way by Tony.
His first birthday present would be a couple of orgasms, and he couldn't wait to start. He crawls under the comforter, and it's a good thing you have a habit of sleeping naked.
He woke you up by eating you out first thing in the morning, and you jolt awake with a gasp as you feel his teeth nibbling between your legs, his tongue teasing you before you cum all over his face.
''S-shit, Tony! Yes!'' you scream out as the orgasm washes over you.
When he's done, he crawls back up for a deep kiss.
''Happy birthday, Pumpkin,'' he says with his deep morning voice, and you immediately melt into his embrace.
''Thank you so much, Babe,'' and you let yourself melt into his arms, the two of you cuddling for a little while before your stomach protests and rumbles loudly.
''Time for breakfast!'' he says, picking you up, and he walks out of the bedroom.
''Tony, no! Let me put on some clothes first!'' you say, and you wiggle out of his grasp.
You run back into the bedroom, where you pick out some lacy panties and one of Tony's shirts which is way too big for you, but they're very comfortable.
When you're changed, you walk towards the kitchen with a bit of extra sway in your hips as Tony follows you, practically salivating at the sight.
''Jesus, Pumpkin, you're going to be the death of me,'' he says in your ear as he pulls you closer.
You keep walking with Tony plastered to your back, and when you walk past the living room, you see a lot of decorations, presents, and, of course, all of the Avengers standing there.
''HAPPY BIRTHDAY!'' They all say in unison, and you don't notice Tony walking away to get your present.
Everyone gives you a big hug and extra birthday wishes before you turn around, finally noticing Tony is gone.
''Wait, where is-'' but before you can finish your sentence, you see Tony with the cutest little thing you have ever seen in his arms.
''Happy birthday, Pumpkin,'' he says softly as he walks over to you with a small orange cat in his hands, big green eyes looking up at you as he tries to meow.
''Please tell me I can keep him?'' you say as tears well up in your eyes. This is by far the best birthday you've ever had.
''He's all yours, Pumpkin. So, what will his name be?'' Tony asks.
''Tony Jr., of course!'' you tell him, and everyone laughs at the name.
''Perfect!'' is all he says before he softly kisses you, and you take the cat from his arms.
The rest of the day is spent with Tony Jr. on the couch as you slowly get to know each other, and you've fallen head over heels for the little fur ball.
''Happy birthday to me,'' you whisper, and the smile on your face isn't moving anywhere for the foreseeable future.

The Call of Adventure - Ominis x FemReader
I just wanna shoutout everybody. You have all been so sweet and kind with all these fics of Ominis <3 So thank you!!! I'm so happy y'all are enjoying them just as much as I am writing them <3
This was a fun one. Ever since I got the Companions Mod, ya know your gurl had to have Ominis tagging along. I will say, there is something quite amusing about dismissing Ominis on the other side of the map and just being like 'yeah walk your blind ass back to Hogwarts' as he shuffles away.
Anyways, I got carried away with a simple broom flying lesson (looks at word count with a heavy sigh).
hope you enjoy and enjoy while listening to -> Soaring over Hogwarts
Summary: Hoping to show Ominis the joys of broom flight, things take a drastic turn.
Word Count: ~ 4,400 words
Read my other Ominis Fics Here!
-------------------------------------------------------
“I’m not so sure about this.” Ominis holds the broom away from him, not daring to put his leg over the wild thing.
“You were sure just mere moments ago.” She teases.
“That was before the damn thing nearly ripped my arm off.” He mumbles.
She hums in thought then offers, “Perhaps, we should take things slow.”
Ominis lets out a sigh of relief, but the feeling is short lived as she continues,
“We can fly together on my broom.”
He grimaces, “Surely you jest.”
She walks closer to him and he catches the slight shake of her head, “Not at all. The only way we can get there and back before curfew is by flying.”
He scowls with a grumbling complaint under his breath.
“Oh, don’t be that way, Ominis. I think you might enjoy this.”
“Or, I’ll fall to my death.”
She snorts, “Then better be quick to cast Levioso on yourself then. Now, come on. We’re losing daylight.”
She mounts the broom, patting the seat in front of her. He debates with himself on what to do. This is a horrible, ill-advised, reckless plan. But, when will he get another opportunity like this? And he’s heard the rumors of her excellent flying abilities. He lets out an exaggerated sigh as he swings his leg over her broom, dropping the other broom onto the lawn.
“I better not regret this.” He hisses.
She can’t stop her wide grin as she scoots closer to him, “Alright, grab hold of the broom with both hands. One in front of the other.”
Ominis puts his hands around the broom’s handle then they’re just as quickly launched into the air. Her arms fly around his waist as they rocket higher into the sky.
“Ominis! Even out! You’re pulling too much!” She shouts over the roaring wind.
He can barely breathe, let alone think. He pushes the broom down, sending them into a downward spiral. His stomach plummets and he can’t make out what she’s trying to say over the air shooting past them.
Her hands are on his and she speaks in a level voice right into his ear, “Ominis. It’s alright. Follow my movement.”
She gently pulls up and he does the same until their descent stops, leaving them floating in the air. She lets out a sigh, collapsing against his back.
“Not exactly how I envisioned our take off going.” She chuckles between heavy pants. His eyes are wide and he’s surprised the death grip he has on the handle hasn’t shattered the polished wood.
“I nearly killed us.” He murmurs, his body shaking out of his control.
“Nearly. But, not quite.” She slowly removes her hands from his and leans off his back. “How are you fairing?”
“I want to get off this damnable thing.” He seethes.
She laughs, “But, you’ve already done the hardest part! Granted, we will need to work on takeoffs, but we’re at the best part. Flying.”
He shakes his head, “No. This was a mistake. I never should’ve gotten on this thing. Now, tell me how to land.”
She bites her lip, “Ominis.”
“What?” He snaps.
She frowns as she takes in the tremors racking through Ominis’ body. A pang of guilt overcomes her at putting him in this position. He’s confessed his desire to fly on a broom before as they were on their way to class. He heard the whoosh of a student passing overhead and he had a slight smile as he mentioned he’s always wanted to learn to fly. It hurt her heart to hear him dismiss the idea as soon as he uttered it. Now that he’s here, he may very well never fly again. Perhaps this was indeed a mistake. Her jaw sets and her head rises with determination.
She’s not willing to give up just yet. She places her hand on his back. The touch makes him stiffen even more than he already was.
“Take a moment. Breathe. Breathe with me.” She sucks in an audible breath while rubbing her hand up then down his back. “In and out. Slowly. Like this.”
He matches her breathing, realizing just how frantic he had become. They’re fine, he reminds himself. They’re both fine. He follows the assuasive movement along his back and he’s able to relax himself bit by bit.
With their hearts no longer threatening to burst out of their chests and his breathing evening out, she continues,
“A broom is only as good as its rider. If you are calm, your broom will be too.” She glances around with a slight grin, “Do you know where we are?”
“Not in the faintest.”
“Well, take a moment. Feel where we are.”
Ominis’ relinquishes his tight hold on the broom; enough to let a hand slip into his robes and grab his wand. His wand adjusts his field of view by sending out waves as far as it possibly can. He’s amazed at how much he can make out and he takes notice of the spires surrounding them.
They’re over Hogwarts. About thirty meters above, judging from how far the ground is below them. He can hear the distant chatter of students as they cross in the courtyard. He believes it’s the Transfiguration Courtyard given the sizable tree in the center.
His shoulders sag with an exhale, the last of his tremors leaving him, “We’re over Hogwarts.”
She nods, “Yes.”
He shifts in place, finding some comfort being airborne, but not much.
“We can land if you wish, but I think if you make a lap around the castle, you might enjoy it. Hogwarts from above is truly a sight to behold.”
“I don’t want to lose control again.” He whispers.
“You won’t.”
He scoffs with his head dismissing her, “Do you not value our wellbeing? Your wellbeing?”
“I trust you.”
He’s stunned at her admittance. He almost wants to question her sanity in placing so much faith into him. She shifts to be even closer to him and he’s acutely aware of her arms coming around his waist.
“Now, trust yourself. I know you can do it.” She encourages. “Once you’re ready, take it slow and lower the handle until it’s in front of you.”
He takes a deep breath, putting both hands back on the broom with his wand tight in his grip to guide him. He pushes the handle down until they begin to glide forward.
“Just like that!” She exclaims.
He grins at his progress as they soar over the rooftops of the castle. Without realizing, he leans towards where he wishes to go. The movement is easy and he can’t help a prideful smile from coming over him at the smooth turn.
“See, you’re a natural.” She beams, further cementing his elation.
He takes them over Hogwarts, his mind reeling from visualizing the campus from above. There’s many sections he didn’t even know existed and others he had new appreciation for. He dives them under one of the stone bridges and flies them through the canyon. He hears the waterfall and river below them. He flies so close to it, water sprays up in a fine mist onto them.
“I think that’s the Slytherin common room.” She points out to the right of them.
He glides them closer and he chuckles, “If Sebastian could see us, he’d believe he’d lost his mind. Or that we’ve both lost ours.”
“You’ll have to surprise him some time. I’d love to see his face as you take off. We could all fly over to Feldcroft and surprise Anne too.”
Ominis could almost hear Sebastian’s exclamations and Anne’s pure shock. It’s enough to make his stomach flutter. He follows the river towards the Black Lake when he comes to a gentle stop; their feet hover just above the cool waters.
“Well, where is it you wanted to go?” Ominis turns his head towards her.
Her grin consumes her whole face at the sight of Ominis’ poorly disguised zeal.
“Towards the right. You’ll need to get us above the treeline though.” She points to their heading and he nods.
He turns them until she tells him to stop. He takes in a deep breath, enjoying this sensation of floating in the air. Then he takes off.
Screeching across the lake and going far faster than he ever thought he would be going at the start of this flight. She squeals in delight at his pace and his chest swells at the sound of her joy. He gets them high enough to soar over the treetops. He’s beginning to understand how the broom reads him and it’s becoming nearly intuitive to fly.
“We’re just over the Forbidden Forest!” She yells.
He smells the fresh pine and the damp air of the forest which accompanies it. Trying to sense the trees below them as they zip by makes his head whirl. While he can’t make out the fine details of the branches, he can tell they’re massive and their thick canopy blocks out the ground below.
“That’s not where we’re going, is it?” He questions.
“Not at all! It’s forbidden.” She smirks, making him scoff.
“Like that word has any meaning to you!”
She chuckles and gives him a slight squeeze around his waist, making his chilled cheeks warm. They continue soaring over the countryside. The Forbidden Forest seems almost pleasant being so far above it, he thinks to himself. He keeps them just above the treetops, but he’s sure if he stretches his foot out, he’d kick the top of some of the towering giants poking out.
“Nearly there. Do you see it? It’s just to the left of us.” She says.
He angles them to the left, slowing them as he does so, and he picks up on some sort of structure poking out between the foliage of the forest.
“What is it?” He wonders as he tries to find a way for them to land.
“I’m not sure. That’s why we’re here.”
He finds a clearing near the front of the edifice and begins a slow descent. The tips of his shoes graze the ground while they glide forward until he comes to a complete stop.
“Here we are.” She says, letting him dismount before she dismisses her broom. “Not bad for your first flight.”
Ominis turns his head towards her with a soft grin, “I’m glad we landed without the aid of Levioso.”
“As am I.”
Ominis examines where they are. From what his wand is able to pick up, they’re in front of some sort of ruin. The grand entrance has long since crumbled into a half formed arch.
“Up for some exploration?” She asks while she heads through the dilapidated entryway.
Ominis can’t help his grin as he follows her inside into what he suspects was a courtyard. There’s remnants of stone between patches of overgrown grass and ivy under his feet. He lets his hand trace along a moss covered pillar while they venture inside. Wood crunches under their boots as they step over the door and the interior isn’t faring much better than the outside.
“So, how did you stumble upon this place?” Ominis questions.
The fading sun warms parts of his cheek and neck as it filters in through the many cracks and holes in the deteriorating walls. He reaches his hand out to touch these exposed rays of light in the cool, damp ruin. She admires him basking in the sunlight; envious at how perfect he looks. His windblown hair and easy smile makes this whole scene feel dreamy. She has to avert her gaze to be able to answer him.
“Do you want an honest answer, or that I simply stumbled upon this place by accident?”
He shoots her a concerned scowl, “I fear I may regret this, but the honest answer.”
She hums while she kicks a cracked pot over, “I may, or may not, have been in the area dealing with some poachers. And, well, I came here seeking cover while I dispatched them.”
“You are too reckless for your own good.” He sighs.
She shrugs, “You must admit this place is amazing. I wonder just how old it is. Or what it once was. I’m sure it was quite stately in its time.”
Ominis goes towards a shattered wooden long table with a fallen chandelier as its new centerpiece. His fingers trace over the once polished edge as he walks by the rotting relic.
“I’d imagine this was someone’s grand estate. A count’s, perhaps. Given the size.”
“A count you say?” She looks around the ruined architecture in a vain attempt to picture what this place would’ve looked like when it was alive with people instead of vines. “Shame it’s in ruins now.” She frowns as she stares at a faded portrait hanging precariously on the wall above the fireplace.
They wander towards the back of the estate when she notices wooden boards laying on the floor. As she approaches, she realizes the boards are covering a hole in the ground.
“Oh. What’s this?” She kneels next to the wood boards and peers into the darkness below. Ominis joins her, his head tilting to the side in curiosity.
“See anything?” He asks.
She shakes her head, “No. It’s too dark.”
Ominis’ hand scours the grass-covered ground around him until he finds a palm-sized rock. He slips the rock between a gap and lets it fall. He presses his ear in the opening and listens to the rock clattering at the bottom. Based on the echoes, he believes this is an actual room rather than a hole in the ground.
“Anything?” She wonders.
“There’s certainly something there. I believe this may have been the cellar.”
“Stand back.” She gets to her feet, pulling out her wand as she does. Ominis stands next to her.
“Depulso!” She swishes her wand and the boards are reduced to splinters. She’s quick to lean over the edge again, sticking her wand into the opening. “Lumos.”
The ghostly hum is higher than her own as she catches glimpses of dusty stone flooring and walls from her wand’s cold light. She looks over to Ominis, “It’s not too far of a drop. Let’s investigate!”
Before he can object, she’s already jumping into the opening. He hears her land with a ‘huff’.
“Come on! What’re you waiting for?” She yells at him when he doesn’t make any sort of movement.
He groans to himself as he sits on the edge of the hole, his feet swinging into the abyss. He takes a sharp breath before he falls in after her. He lands with a slight grunt, but he’s pleased he stayed on his feet. His wand picks up what he heard and this is indeed a room of some kind. The musty, moldy air makes his nose crinkle in disgust. He hears her walking towards the far wall.
“Cellar indeed. Although…,” She brings her illuminated wand closer to the wall.
“What is it?” Ominis joins in with her examination. He reaches out and touches a large metal ring attached to the wall.
“I think it can be opened.” She takes several steps back and he does the same. “Accio!”
She rips the lid of the case off, letting it crash to the ground, and she gasps in shock. Something knocks into his foot. He frowns at the object being far too light for a rock or piece of stone. He kneels down and his fingers graze over the object. It’s spherical in nature and there’s two large holes then two smaller ones. He traces over several ridges until a clear picture forms in his mind. His hand reels back.
“A crypt.” He exclaims. “We’re in a crypt.”
“It does appear that we are.”
He whips his wand around, searching for a way out. He crosses to the other side, but he can’t detect any sort of stairs. He does however sense a hallway leading underneath the estate. He stands near the entrance of the corridor and a chill shoots down his spine when a cold draft gusts into his face.
“I don’t like the feel of this place.” He murmurs.
“Oh, there’s no reason for such angst. It’s just a long, dark hallway inside an abandoned, creepy crypt. What could possibly go wrong?” She smirks as she takes the lead down the hallway with nary a hitch in her steps.
“I can think of plenty.” Ominis states while following after her. “I will admit, I do admire your bravery. This is certainly not a place for those of the faint hearted.”
She giggles, her amusement echoing off into the distance, “I can admit the same of you, Ominis. I’m starting to believe there’s a bit of Gryffindor underneath all that green.”
A smile splays across him and he can’t suppress his chuckle. He is surprised he’s not more upset with being potentially trapped in a tomb. If he were here with anyone else, he imagines he would be far more vexed with the situation than he is. It seems her adventurous nature is quite contagious and he finds himself eager to discover more secrets to this long forgotten place.
The hallway takes them into an open room. Their footsteps reverberate into the vast nothingness.
She lets out a gasp, “It’s huge.” She waves her wand around in an attempt to penetrate the darkness, but it’s like a thick veil is placed in front of her. “We’re probably the only ones who've set foot here in some time.”
“I don’t see a way out though.” Ominis frowns. “The room dead ends here.”
“Perhaps there’s a secret entrance somewhere.” She heads towards the center of the room.
He snorts to himself at her guileless wonder and excitement. They move through the open room, noting the columns supporting the ground above them are in rather good shape considering the rest of the fallen estate.
“It’s so eerie here.” She observes. “Like the air is completely still.”
“Almost like we aren’t supposed to be here.” He teases.
She chuckles, “Fair point.” She smiles as she looks at him. He’s enjoying himself far more than he’s pretending to be. “I am glad you’re here with me. Even if all we find is just a big, dusty room.”
He takes in a sharp breath at her statement, hating how easily she could send him spiraling with just one comment. The sounds of pebbles dragging against stone catches his attention. It’s not coming from her though. It almost sounds like feet shuffling the more Ominis tunes into the noise.
“Did you hear that?” He questions.
She freezes where she’s at and turns her attention to her companion. His head turns more towards where he first heard the noise. She strains her ears to do the same, but she only hears ringing due to the silence of the place.
“I don’t hear-,”
“Behind you!” Ominis shouts just as an arm swipes at her.
In a flash, she’s suddenly next to him. He almost can’t believe it and his wand can barely comprehend how she achieved such a feat. It’s like she transformed into magic then reappeared next to him. He can’t dwell on the moment though as the room erupts into groans and growls.
“Inferi!” She cries out. “Fire’s the only way to kill them.”
There’s several coming towards them, more than he can count. He readies himself and she does the same.
“Where are they? I hear them, but I don’t see them.” She states, her head turning every which way.
“There!” Ominis points towards where he hears at least three.
“Confringo!” She lights one on fire and the sparks ignite those around it. Burnt flesh consumes the air and she’s able to see enough from the immolated corpses to continue her attacks.
Ominis is suddenly aware of more Inferi coming behind them. He turns and casts, “Incendio!”
A blast of flames knocks two of them back, leaving him the chance to cast Confringo on those still standing.
“Bombardo!” She explodes the ones getting close to them, rocking the ground and walls, and sending gravel on top of them.
“Depulso!” He knocks the rest away, leaving a clearing for them to retreat back down the hallway. He grabs her free hand and tugs her from the battle.
“Bombardo!” She blasts the ceiling and he can hear the room collapsing just behind them, nearly knocking them off their feet from the impact. Unfortunately, not all the Inferi are caught in the rubble. She keeps firing spells down the hallway while he dodges them past swiping arms reaching out from the crumbling stone walls. They manage to get back into the room they dropped into when she wiggles her hand from his tight grasp.
There’s a surge in the air, one which electrifies his skin and overwhelms his senses. He’s amazed to find this surge to be stemming from her. She lets out a cry and the entrance to the hallway topples down with a roaring clap of thunder, blocking the Inferi from chasing them. Dust blasts into the room, staining their mouths, and the ground shakes under their feet. Their relief doesn’t last long as more Inferi begin to clamor out from the caskets lining the walls.
“This way!” She grabs his hand and guides him back underneath the hole. She glances around at the Inferi nearly free from their stone confines.
Ominis readies himself to face the remaining Inferi when she turns towards him.
“I’m going to cast Levioso on you. Then you’ll be able to reach the ledge. Ready?”
Before he can question, she quickly casts, “Levioso!”
His feet leave the ground and he levitates in the air. He barely catches himself from flipping around. His mind whirls into overdrive and he reaches out towards the ledge. He grabs on and pulls himself up. He searches for her below and he finds her just underneath him. He hears her rapid fire of spells to keep the horde at bay, but she’s about to be swarmed with Inferi on all sides. Without any more hesitation he yells, “Accio!”
She’s yanked up to him with a surprised gasp leaving her. She lands right on top of him, sending them both crashing to the ground. They’re both panting, their hearts beating frantically. She manages to push herself up to look down at him.
“Are you alright?” She asks.
“Never better.” He groans.
She laughs, falling back onto him with a sigh, “You sure do know how to make things exciting, Gaunt.”
His chest rumbles under her as they both laugh.
“If I remember correctly, I believe you were the one to say ‘what could go wrong’. Seems the universe was apt to show you just how wrong things could go.”
“Seems so.” She giggles, finding enough energy to roll off of him.
Below them, they can still hear the faint groaning of the Inferi. His hand pats the ground until he finds what he’s searching for. He grabs her hand and gives her a squeeze with a soft sigh.
“You are unharmed, yes? They didn’t hurt you?” His tender voice makes her heart skip a beat.
She glances towards Ominis, noting his face firmly plastered to the ceiling above them.
“I’m okay.” She reassures him with a squeeze of her own. She watches his chest rise in a deep breath and the sight makes her cheeks warm for some reason.
She releases his hand to prop herself up with a wide grin.
“Well, this hasn’t been quite the adventure I had in mind, but at least I’ll have you back before curfew.”
Ominis chuckles as he stands, dusting himself off, “I believe you’ve satiated my need for adventure for the day. For the month even.”
He offers his hand to her and helps her to her feet. She takes in the disheveled sight of the Slytherin boy. His hair is wild and untamed from their fight. Dark soot and dust coats his reddish cheeks and stains his formally tidy robes. It’s a good look on him, she decides before she brushes a few pebbles, leaves, and other small debris from his hair and shoulders. His eyes are wide at the gesture and he’s forgotten how to breathe for a moment.
“I think you’ll find yourself craving such reckless activities. In fact, you’ll be practically begging to come on another adventure with me.” She smirks, satisfied with her efforts in preening him, then heads back towards the entrance. He coughs, willing himself to calm down, before catching up to her.
“Will I? I’m not one to beg, you know.” He smirks right back at her.
They arrive back at the entrance of the sullied manor with the sun having long since set, leaving them both bathed in the moonlight. The cold light of the moon makes the boy next to her seem otherworldly. And if she were to try to reach out to him, he would simply vanish like an all too pleasant dream. She’s thankful he can’t see her staring. Or, perhaps he could in his own way. Perhaps he could feel her awestruck gaze upon him as it whispers across his skin.
She bites her lip while she summons her broom, “Guess we’ll see, won’t we?”
“I suppose so.” He replies in a near whisper.
She holds the broom between them, letting him mount first. He settles himself on the broom, finding it far more natural than when they started earlier this afternoon. A crack of a twig makes Ominis turn his head towards the forest. While he almost dismisses it as an animal, something about it makes him pause.
“What is it?” She wonders, turning her gaze to what’s got his attention.
“I’m… not sure.” He gets the distinct impression they’re being watched. Not just by one set of eyes either.
Out of the shadows of the night’s embrace, a masked man steps forward.
“Hello, lovelies.” He greets, twirling his wand between his fingers with a malicious grin. Her hand grips Ominis’ forearm and her whole body is frigid as more people emerge from the shadows. “Was hopin’ you’d come back ‘er, lil’ girl. We’ve been waitin’ for ya.”

Read Part 2 Here
AN: Did I get carried away? Without a doubt. But, I really wanted to have some Ominis adventures sooooo here we are. I did my best in the combat, but that's one of my weaker writing skills in my opinion *stares at my part two with even more action*
I think I maaaay have abused his wand's 'seeing' ability quite heavily here, but ehhhhhh magic am i right???? ...right? 💀💀💀💀💀
I've never tagged peeps before so uh hopefully this is right 😂-> @mehnotenoughtime

R I P L E Y (2024)
***Contains SPOILERS***
A review (of sorts, but more a rambling opinion piece that veers off the main subject occasionally).
So I've watched R I P L E Y (2024), all eight episodes of it. One word: Bravissimo!
As someone who loves the Ripliad series of novels by Patricia Highsmith immensely, and having watched all the Ripley film adaptations there are thus far — Plein Soleil aka Purple Noon (1960), The American Friend aka Der Amerikanische Freund (1977), The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Ripley's Game (2002), and Ripley Under Ground (2005) — I went into this new series (released on Netflix on April 4th) with expectations…
Not high, for I've learned it's never good to have high expectations or you'll more than likely just be setting yourself up for disappointment…but with expectations all the same!
Thus far, my favourite Ripley film adaptation had been 2002's Ripley's Game starring John Malkovich as an older Ripley. Had been. Until this series that is! I still love Ripley's Game a lot of course! (heh!) And there really should be no comparison given it's two different mediums and the two Ripleys are portrayed from different times of the character's life.
So saying, this new series definitely sets a new standard for a Ripley adaptation! And as someone who love the books a lot, I'm glad this series is very closely adapted from the first book!
The decision to go for a black and white cinematography, I was skeptical about that at first but after looking at the trailers and reading on the director's reasoning for going B & W with this, I can understand why, and generally agree with his decision.
Though at times, especially when looking at the wonderful interior sets, I'll be wishing I could see it in all its colour glory and thinking what a waste it was not to have it in colour, but that is but a minor hitch, for the B & W cinematography is done with superb mastery and skill, and it's hard to find fault with going this route. And it does contribute to getting into the film noir feel from films of yesteryear.
On the actors, I was skeptical on Andrew Scott as Ripley at first, but I'm happy to say he has proven me wrong and his Ripley, while not as young as Ripley should be at the start of the novel series, is one that is characterised the closest, and if Showtime/Netflix has any plans to adapt the rest of the novels, Scott will be perfect as an older Ripley, I think!
Maybe that was/is the plan…that's why Scott was chosen even though age wise, he doesn't quite fit in the beginning…one can hope! (heh!)
Moving on, just a brief rambling on the other main actors/characters because I'm getting tired:
Love Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, she was exactly how I imagined Marge to be as I read the (first) book. A superb performance by Fanning I'd say!
Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf was underwhelming for me partly because in my eyes, Jude Law was/is the perfect Dickie (even if his — Law's — American accent was/is questionable), but partly also because I find Flynn is lacking charisma (sorry, Flynn fans!), I didn't get the sense of what was so fascinating about this Dickie that Ripley would be so enamoured with him or his lifestyle, enough to kill for it.
Perhaps the fault lies partly with the script too for I felt we the audience didn't get to see more of what drew Ripley to Dickie, besides his obvious wealth and status.
Eliot Sumner as Freddie Miles. Now this was the character that underwent the most drastic change as compared to the book and the 1999 The Talented Mr. Ripley film adaptation. In both the book and the 1999 film, Freddie was described (and portrayed to perfection by Philip Seymour Hoffman in my opinion) as an American with carrot-red hair, stocky, loud and all round obnoxious from miles away sort.
2024 Freddie is slim-built, androgynous looking, with a cherub face and British…he's practically a whole different character except in name.
As such, it's unfair to compare I guess, but having envisioned Freddie as described in the book for so long, helped along by PSH's award-worthy performance, I'll just say this is not the Freddie for me.
But, that doesn't mean Sumner's Freddie was bad. In terms of being almost a foil to Ripley, Sumner's Freddie is still quite effectively annoying.
Special mentions to Maurizio Lombardi and Margherita Buy as Inspector Ravini and Signor(in)a Buffi (Ripley's landlady) respectively! I enjoyed watching these two characters.
Also a special mention to Lucio (Signor(in)a Buffi's cat), who, had it been able to speak, Ripley would certainly have silenced! (heh!)
Tumblr media
Last but not least, a special mention to John Malkovich as Reeves Minot.
Tumblr media
I was so excited when I first saw Malkovich in the trailer because not only is his casting a nice tribute to his turn as Tom Ripley in Ripley's Game (2002), I thought he would be playing Herbert Greenleaf at first, but he turned out to be playing Reeves Minot! Even better! Gives more hope that new seasons of R I P L E Y (2024) may happen!
Those who have read the books will know that Reeves Minot is a recurring character in the later books — I can't really remember how many exactly, it's been some time since I last read them (and I should again!).
To sum up, I did enjoy this series tremendously and will definitely rewatch many times to come, and I hope we'll get further adaptations of the other books with the same standards as set for this one!
P.S.: I've seen a few people mention “this (R I P L E Y) is like Saltburn!”. I never heard of the film Saltburn before looking at some opinion pieces, but after looking it up, dare I say, Saltburn ripped off the Ripliad stories and its characters (the Ripliad books first came out in the 1950s) and I think it's more appropriate to say “Saltburn is like Ripley”!

Hello again! I hope you are doing well. Honestly keep falling in love with how you thoughtfully handle the DC mythos, and after going through Kon and Match's tags again, it got the wheels turning about Match and it lead to this ramblely train of thought/theory on him aging, his lack of empathy and his relationship with Kon:
While Match doesn't have empathy in the traditional sense, he does kind of care about those who help/care for him. For example, he watches out for Thad because Thad has watched out for him; he may be reluctant to hurt Mercy since she trained him, etc. As long as that person doesn't hurt or betray him, he's willing to care for them. It's hard to do because he only understands emotions and caring more as a concept than as something he fully experiences, but for those that watch out for him, he's willing to try.
However, as he grows older, this becomes harder to do since he's having a harder time keeping his sanity and remembering who's friend or foe. So as he reaches adulthood, he's alone, isolated, and caged by his mind, which is ironic considering how brilliant it is when he's thinking clearly. Speaking of thinking clearly, I think when he has those moments of clarity, he reflects on his life and realizes that considering how his condition is screwing him over, that he wasted his time on his feud with Kon. He may want to find to bury the hatchet, if not for the fact that Kon was the first person to actually care about him and give him genuine affection, just so he is able to live in some sort of peace with whatever time he has left. But between so many years of bad blood and his declining heath, he doesn't really know what to do about it. So he's just kind of stuck in this awkward state of sort of leaving Kon alone but not being upfront with why, leading to some shenanigans due to some confused suspicion. Will he actually figure out how to make peace with Kon? Who knows but at the process will be interesting.
What do you think of this theory? Does it hold any water?
And I'm sorry for this being...well, a lot and how ramblely it kind of is. The wheels got turning and it didn't stop until this was done. Anyway thank you for everything that you've done and for reading this. Have a great day/night!
Ok. This is... exactly how I envisionned it... but put into the right words since I haven't reached a scene with Match yet in my script. It's like you peered directly into my brain.
It's fascinating how much you connected yourself (or we connected) to my view without knowing much about what I had planned. I think it's awesome since its proof that my stuff is logical enough... and wow. I lack to words to describe how touched I am by this. I think I'm gonna cry of happiness now.

Warm Nights
Tumblr media
Summary: Dean and Y/N are on vacation. A few nice days at the beach and sea. But Dean didn't expect it to get that hot.
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader
Warnings: Smut. Because... why not? So: 18+ only!! And a grumpy Dean. At least at the beginning.
Word count: 1508
A/N: Hello! :) This is my last contribution to @smellingofpoetry ’s 400 Follower Celebration - Summer Edition. Summer is almost over and I'm really looking forward to autumn. But before that there's a little boozy story. Of course I couldn't exclude our Dean and that's why it's his turn now.
With this I think I covered almost everything. It was really fun writing these one shots and I hope others enjoyed reading them too. With that being said, have fun.
---------------------------------------------------
The only thing keeping Y/N from sleeping was Dean's grunts, which he let out at almost regular intervals. He himself had surprised her with this vacation, because he thought they finally deserved a real break. Y/N was very excited and couldn't wait. But as soon as they arrived, the heat hit them. So they only spent the days on the beach and cooled off in the sea, but the temperatures didn't drop much at night. It was practically impossible to sleep properly and that made Dean grumpy.
"Son of a bitch." he made himself felt at some point and Y/N let out an annoyed breath.
"You wanted to go to Cancun."
"Yeah, but I didn't know they were going to have such an unexpected heat wave here. Otherwise I would have taken us somewhere else."
Dean rolled over in bed for what felt like the hundredth time and let out another dissatisfied sigh. "I can smell my own sweat."
"Maybe you should have informed yourself better beforehand." Y/N teased her boyfriend and grinned.
"Eat me."
"Again?" Y/N asked teasingly. "And what about me? That wouldn't be fair, right?"
Dean stared at her and shook his head slightly before sitting up. "I need a drink."
She watched him go over to the minibar and pour himself a whiskey. Y/N had to smile. If someone had told her two years ago that Dean was actually interested in her and would ask her out on a date, she would have said they were crazy. But after Chuck was gone, he seemed more excited about his life. It was like a huge load had been lifted from his shoulder and she was happy for him. Still, she hadn't seen herself coming as part of his life.
"Good. You do that and I'll take a cold shower."
She already pulled her top over her head before she disappeared into the bathroom and felt Dean's eyes on her. The fact that Dean desired her, no matter what the situation, filled her heart with warmth. No one before had ever made her feel like this.
She washed her hair and was about to wash her body when a large hand took the soap from her. Dean had followed her and she looked around in surprise. He quietly began washing his own body before proceeding to wash Y/N.
"What are you doing here?" she asked with a smile.
"Makin' it fair." was all he said and before Y/N could respond his hands were already on her body.
He started at her arms and worked his way up to her shoulders. Dean distributed the foam extensively over her whole body, but remained quite good. He lingered on her breasts a bit longer, building Y/N's anticipation, but he unabashedly let his hands wander further down to her stomach. His hands slid lower and lower, but before he got to her mound, he got down on one knee and washed her feet and calves. Now Y/N was getting a little frustrated.
"So if that was your idea to make it fair then I have to say I didn't envision it that way."
As she spoke, Dean had already reached her thighs and grinned. "Why are you so impatient? Besides, I never said how I wanted to make up for it."
"I'm not..."
But she couldn't finish this sentence, because suddenly Dean's hand finally disappeared between her thighs and went to work there, too. He knew exactly what he was doing, because it wasn't long before Y/N let out a small moan.
Shortly thereafter, he grabbed the hand shower and washed the soap off their bodies again. "Everything clean again."
"I'm not sure about that." Y/N replied and snuggled up to Dean while she put her arms around his neck and ran his fingers through his wet hair.
Dean needed a moment until the hand shower was back in place and he ran his hands over her body. His mouth searched for hers and the kiss started out passionately. He rested his hands on her bottom and lightly massaged her cheeks before giving her a small slap. She gasped a little and Dean used that moment to deepen the kiss und search with his toung after hers.
Now Y/N also let her hands slide down his body and reached his already hard length, which happily pressed against her lower abdomen. But as soon as she started massaging him, he pulled back slightly from her grasp. Y/N looked at Dean a little confused, but he just smirked. Without another word, Dean dropped to his knees again and leaned Y/N against the wall behind her. It was immediately clear to her what he was up to and she had to moan again.
"Always so responsive. I didn't even do anything yet."
But Y/N couldn't answer that either, because he didn't give her any time. He parted her legs and rested his hands on her hips as he licked trough her folds with a flat tongue. The feeling sent goose bumps down Y/N's spine. She just loved how he made her feel. Dean feasted on her before lingering on her clit and massaging it. It didn't take long before he figured out how tight the pressure needed to be and what rhythm made Y/N practically sing. Dean kept working her up, but just before she climaxed, he released her clit and brought her tongue a little deeper, caressing her opening and penetrating a little. It wasn't quite as effective, but it still felt just as great.
He repeated this a few times. Y/N's legs began to tremble and she felt her strength drain. "Dean... please."
He laughed. "What, please? Say it, Y/N."
"Let me come. Please, I have to come."
"Anything my girl wants."
And then he got her over the edge so fast she almost thought she saw stars. Her moans were loud and obscene, but she didn't care.
"So beautiful." he fully admired Y/N and covered her face with small kisses.
His cock was so tense now that he knew he couldn't wait any longer. Y/N's head was spinning and she felt like her legs were going to give out. Dean noticed that too and lifted her up with a quick movement so that she could put her legs around his waist. Her arms found support around his neck again and he immediately let his cock slide through her wet folds. They kissed again and then in one smooth motion he sank deep into her heat.
"Oh god... always so full." she rasped and moaned in satisfaction.
"Don't worry. I got you." Dean said and began to move inside her.
It wasn't long before he picked up speed, making Y/N moan again. Dean bowed his head slightly and kept licking her nipples, which only turned her on more. The feelings intensified and Y/N felt like she was about to burst. She was so oversensitive by now, and yet it still wasn't enough. She felt her next climax approaching and was now chasing after it.
She tried to move with Dean as best as possible. He noticed this and shifted her position a bit to make it easier for her. But in doing so, he thrust even deeper into her, reaching that one painfully sweet spot.
"Yes, sweetheart. Just like that. Keep pushing against me." Dean growld and his movements became hard and fast.
"Oh god... I... I can't! It`s... to much!"
"Yes, you can, baby! Come on. Give me your all."
And Dean was right. All she could hear was their moans and how skin met skin. And then she exploded. Y/N came so hard that she didn't know where up and down was for a moment. A few pushs later, Dean came hard and deep inside her. Their breaths mingled and they had to hold each other for a few moments.
When both had arrived back in the here and now, Dean carefully lowered Y/N, but still held her until her legs carried her again. They kissed slowly and gently and then Dean turned the water back on to wash her off.
"Now that's what I call a success."
"Showoff!" laughed Y/N.
As soon as they were clean again, they dried themselves off and put on fresh clothes. But before they left the bathroom, Dean held Y/n back for a moment. She looked at him questioningly as he pulled her into his arms.
"I love you." he said with a small smile.
"I love you too." Y/N replied and beamed at Dean.
They kissed again and then left the bathroom. But as soon as they were outside, they heard the wind whistling through the room.
"What..." Dean rushed to the balcony and looked out.
Shortly thereafter, the first thunder rumbled and it began to rain. The temperature in the room had also changed and the cool, fresh wind brought a noticeable cooling effect.
"Now, that is almost as good as our shower session." Dean beamed at her and Y/N just had to smile. She has never been so happy.

Hi!!! I love your writings I'm addicted!!!!! Could I maybe request a sniper fic in which the "oh no only one bed" trope encounter (perhaps just in his van) but the reader was already wearing something revealing and it's driving him kind of nuts. He like gets more and more frustrated and eventually just kind of makes a brutally honest move in initiating an intimate moment (if yk what I mean)?? I know it's weirdly specific and idm if you skip this one!!! Also Sniper and the reader were not in a relationship before this encounter. Ty!!!!
I had so much fun writing this one tbh hopefully I was able to faithfully capture what you had envisioned!!!!-- i admit i wrote sniper a wee bit out of character towards the end but that was mostly a plot driven choice for the frustration bit :3 enjoy!!!!
Stake Out (Sniper x fem!Reader)
Sniper didn't understand why he couldn't just be alone. He's never needed another person to watch his back while on a stake-out, and he damn sure doesn't need one now. Admittedly, he's quite frustrated. With you? Not exactly. With the situation? Damn straight. The dead of summer heat left you scantily clad, much to Sniper's detriment. How could he bear to get anything done when you're sitting right here next to him like this, as if on display? You weren't exactly a happy camper, either. You knew Sniper didn't need any help, so you were already prepared to deal with a sour attitude-- but the unbearable heat and the fact that you have no choice but to spend a night together in his one-man van--left you equally as frustrated as the Aussie.
As the afternoon dragged on, you let out an exasperated sigh and turned to your superior. "Is it okay if I take a nap?" You ask meekly, afraid of distracting him as he peered through his scope wordlessly. Sniper pauses a moment, then sets his rifle down. "A nap? Wasn't your whole reason for bein' 'ere to watch my back?" The look on his face sent a shiver down your spine. It was just an innocent question, really! You figured since it was an unspoken fact that the both of you knew you didn't really need to be here, it would be okay if you, well, slacked a bit. You cock your head to the side before testing the waters again. "...yes?" He stared at you with an expression you were unable to read. Was he mad? Was he just pulling your leg? Sniper pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, looking back up at you sternly. "Sure." It was hard to deny that his pent up frustration, among his general discontent with today's circumstances, left him irritable. From the bloody start he just wished he could be alone. None of this would have happened! Now how is he supposed to concentrate with the temptation of your vulnerable, unconscious body left splayed out before him mere feet away?! He shooed you along, allowing you to sleep in the camper while he did a little exercise in self control and maintained watch on enemy territory.
Upon entering, you thought nothing more of your surroundings and crashed on the bed with a soft thud. It was almost too easy to fall asleep, until you shot straight up and felt panic set in. Oh god. This is the only bed in this whole camper. The only viable surface to lay on, period. You were suddenly plagued with the image of a scowling Sniper, and the discomforting silence that hung around the two of you all day. How on earth are we supposed to sleep in this bed together?! The thought of cuddling with your superior after you were sure you just ruined his whole day made you tremble with anxiety. You thought it best to set your worries aside for now to get some rest. Perhaps if you slept now, that meant you could stay up on watch through the night while Mundy got his rest--avoiding the bed predicament entirely. As you pondered on what exactly you'd like to say and played out the interaction in your head, you lulled yourself to sleep with your own thoughts. The heat left you laid out on top of the covers with your sweat-soaked garments hugging your body like a constrictor. Right as you fell asleep, Sniper, with his brief solitude, was able to clear his head and abate his frustration for the time being.
With no new action on the frontier, he decided to take a small break to check on you, making sure you at least were comfortable back there. Sniper knew it wasn't exactly a home, and felt a slight twinge of guilt having such a beautiful girl like you surrounded in his clutter. The Aussie gently knocked before entering still, and was greeted by the sight of you, out cold in a starfish position. He stumbled back, instinctively snatching off his hat and using it to cover his eyes. Guess she made herself comfortable. He thought to himself, hiding his flushed expression behind the slouch hat. Sniper set the hat back on his head, clearing his throat to try and escape the awkward silence between himself and your unconscious form below him. Mundy knew he had no business back here anymore--all he was to do was assure you found yourself alright back there, then he would return to his post. Yet, he found he couldn't bring himself to move. His eyes were glued to your body, as if its beauty had taken hold of him. You could still feel an overbearing presence, even in your unconscious state, which caused you to stir. Sniper inched closer to you, against his better judgment. The pent up frustration from spending a whole afternoon next to you, wearing the least amount of clothing you could get away with...it drove him absolutely mad. Even more so, knowing there was nothing he could do about it--he couldn't make a move, he was a professional after all! ...And professionals have standards. Before finally returning to his post, he hastily covered your limp form with a used towel discarded nearby. Out of sight, out of mind.
The afternoon waned into evening, and not long thereafter plunged the frontier into night. Still no new sights to behold, Sniper quickly wrapped up the stake-out. After notating the last of his findings, he started the van with an exasperated sigh. 'Bout damn time this bloody day's over. I can finally relax. He thought to himself. As he maneuvered the van to a more discrete location, Sniper's thoughts were suddenly interrupted with the damning realization of the sleeping situation. Meanwhile, the engine sounds and sudden sensation of movement woke you from your slumber. You rubbed your eyes as you took a moment to regain awareness, still stuck in the drunken stupor of your slumber. You looked down at the towel serving as your blanket, and couldn't help but notice the familiar musky scent of your superior overwhelming your senses. A light blush dusted your cheeks as you realized this meant Sniper had come in and covered you up. You sat up now, and peered through the blinds of a nearby window. You found yourself lost in admiration of the purplish tranquility of the sleeping desert before you. So much so, that you hadn't noticed the van had stopped, nor the sound of Sniper joining you in the camper.
Upon turning away from the window you shrieked in surprise. "When did you get there?!" You asked, startled from the sudden company of your superior. "Well, if you'd get your head out of the sand you'd've noticed I came in about," He starts, checking his watch for dramatic effect, "5 minutes ago." You rolled your eyes at his attitude while scooting away from the window and pulling the towel back over yourself. "I just don't understand how a dry death-scape can become subzero in just a matter of hours." You remarked, now shuddering from the cold. "Uhh, yeah...about that," Sniper trailed off, his edge now softened by embarrassment. "How d'ya wanna do this? I shouldn't have to state the obvious..." He deliberately avoided eye contact with you as he spoke. Now it was your turn to serve that Aussie attitude right back at him. "What's wrong? The world's greatest sniper is scared of a wittle bed?" His gaze snapped to you, slightly taken aback by your sass. "Whatd'ya just say to me?" Sniper pressed on. His brows were furrowed in growing anticipation and he almost wished you'd keep up your act. Thankfully, you delivered. "You heard me! It's just a bed. Or is it not the bed...is it me? You don't wanna share a bed with me??"
Admittedly, you had no idea where you pulled the confidence from to speak to your superior like this. Perhaps it was just frustration from a day wasted, or dwindling tolerance for his own sour attitude. Whatever it was, you knew you were already so deep in a hole you figured you might as well make it deeper. Sniper moved closer in response to your questioning. "You think I'm scared of a little bed? Or a little girl, no less?!" The gap between the two of you was nonexistent. "No, I'm not scared at all, roo. I figured'ya wanna sleep alone. But I guess I was wrong, yea? You really wanna share a bed?" He threw your sass right back at you and now you were in a corner. Literally-- he towered over you, causing you to scoot back until you met the foot of the bed in question. Sniper pursued, leaving you caged between himself and the bed. "Sure, roo, we can share the bed. Why, let's just go ahead and get right in." He suddenly scooped you into his surprisingly robust arms and sat down on the bed with you still in his embrace.
He held you almost too tight, and you instinctively straddled him. While sitting in his lap, you felt his erection poke the soft flesh between your thighs. Your flushed faces were mere inches apart, and before you could open your mouth to speak, Sniper grabbed the back of your head and pulled you into a fervent, aggressive kiss. It didn't take you long to reciprocate, letting your hands wander along his jawline and neck innocently as he pushed further, now breaching the territory of your mouth with his tongue. The throbbing wetness between your legs begged for reprieve, and you shyly rocked your hips against Sniper's to get the friction you so desperately needed. He broke the kiss, a glinting trail of saliva still connecting the two of you in a depraved, arousing kind of way. Large gloved hands trailed down your sides, one of them finding itself between your legs. Sniper teasingly ghosted his fingers just above, below, and around exactly where you wanted them to be which caused your legs to tremble in anticipation and now-bubbling over arousal. Suddenly, he removed his hand entirely, looking back at you with an impish smirk.
"Scared enough for ya, roo?"

im curious how you envision lightning ending up in radiator springs in the human-verse. i don't think you've mentioned it in any of your fics (except maybe that one chapter of whumptober). if you have put absolutely no thought into it that ignore this lol
I spent all day thinking about this
So. I have left.... .. Many things ambiguous cause I couldn't figure out how to make it fit exactly in the human!verse side of things XD
But I, like everyone else, have Thoughts:
Let's start with the trailers: so there are some very obvious differences in my human!verse and NASCAR, though I do take a lot of inspiration from irl racing (mainly the racing aspect itself). But where a lot of NASCAR drivers fly to their races, most of the guys in the human!verse here will ride in a trailer, either in the same trailer as their cars (basically a small room just for them tucked in the very back of the trailer closest to the truck part) or in a separate trailer that's very RV-like, depending on how much $$$ the sponsors want to spend. so, for example, Dinoco obviously would go the two-trailer way if not just outright flying the King out to a race if it's far (or with Cal's run, just opt to go the RV route since the two are family and live together easier than a lot of crew chief/driver combos can), where early on Rust-Eze isn't going to or has the money to spend on buying rookie Lightning a whole other trailer, especially if he doesn't have a crew chief sharing the space with him. So for his rookie year he's staying in a small, cramped trailer room that's very reminiscent of a small, pop-up camper room if you've ever stayed in one of those. It's got the bare minimum and the door opens along the side to the outside world or directly into the trailer where the car is.
my crude representation
Tumblr media
The car, usually packed up by the pit crew, has to be secured by Mack this time, who is used to securing regular cargo from his past jobs and does not tie down the wheels correctly. there is no pit crew to double check and lightning, who does know how to do it properly, is too prissy to check it himself.
And lightning, being the drama (mc)queen he is, will sometimes opt to sit in the car in the trailer rather than the cramped bedroom (not that the car is any less cramped with the way the seat is but it's his happy place whether he'll admit it or not)
And same as the movie, he promises he'll stay up with Mack and falls asleep anyways, just in the driver's seat of the car (impressive, since those are Not comfy and he's still in his fire suit from earlier (stinky boy))
And same as movie, one of those toys on the shelves falls and opens the back door when Mack falls asleep behind the wheel and ends up in the rumble strips. The car, secured incorrectly, gets shaken out of the straps and starts creeping down the ramp until it ends up stock-still and facing backwards on an active highway.
Which is Bad news.
Lightning wakes to cars dodging him and he manages to start the car and whip it around in an adrenaline-fueled record time.
Mack is gone
And (because it's funny) Lightning's drivers licence is useless here (it's a Florida license and as someone who held a fl license for a while, in some places they do not give a fuck, they'll pretty much throw that thing at you and call for the next person) so it's been, oh, a few years since he's been behind the wheel of a car in a real road (I hc him as somewhere around 23-24 in the first movie) and between that and the adrenaline, he can't remember how to read the road signs to tell him where to go (and it's not like any of them are saying LA yet, theyre still a ways out.)
The rest of his chaotic journey through to RS is the same in the movie just cause that's my favorite scene in the movie and idc if it'd be impossible in real life. it's fun.
And I'm torn with Mack's side of things between not changing it and him stopping at a rest stop, getting something from inside, and as he comes back out seeing the back open and panicking bc he thinks someone stole the 95, only to then find Lightning missing and then thinking someone stole the 95 *and* kidnapped Lightning. Poor Mack.
So yeah. This was mostly me talking through the logistics of how trailers work in my human!verse but I feel like that's really important to how I imagine Lightning ending up in RS. Of course, after doc and everyone joins, Rust-Eze splurges on a whole other RV-like trailer for Lightning and Doc, with the others usually being put up in a hotel nearby or something. Rust-Eze not having an RV trailer is why in 'beginning another end' Doc and Lightning stay in a motel overnight. Even though Mack and the 95 trailer were still there, Lightning hates the little bedroom and opted to stay in a shitty motel room w Doc instead (also he has separation anxiety lol)
And in 'straight and narrow' lightning sits up in the front with poor Mack (who usually sleeps in the attached bedroom on the truck cab, which is not too dissimilar to Lightning's trailer room, just that Lightning has a smidge more standing room in his)
(So in my fics, when I say 'trailer' it's usually referring to something like an RV bus. Who drives it? Idk yall just roll with it lol)
Basically this puzzle boiled down to:
How does lightning end up separated from Mack and the trailer?
How does the car end up separated from the trailer?
How do the two get separated together?
How does Mack not notice until LA (or sooner, depending)?
I lean this way personally rather than the other popular version (also the movie writers' original version of events i believe) where lightning is accidentally left behind at a rest stop (which is also very valid!!) just because personally it doesn't answer more questions for me than it generates (but my alt events for Mack kind of pays homage to it bc it's still a very good version of events).
Lightning being separated with the car is important for obvious reasons and the og movie had a plausible swiss-cheese of events, so all I think it needs is some light tweaking before we got something just as (humanly ;)) plausible on our hands.

I have no idea if this answers your question or if I just went on the most unhinged ramble :)

can you explain your interpretation of "i'm thinking of ending things"? id love to hear your thoughts
YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS
*ahem*
first off : the book and the movie are vastly different, but i actually do not have a preference for one or the other. i think everyone who's seen the movie should read the book, i think everyone who's read the book should see the movie. they both bring incredible things to the table when it comes to telling this story. for simplicity, i'll only be talking about the book (SPOILER WARNING TOO)-- but keep in mind i Absolutely Love and Still Recommend the film wholeheartedly.
i interpret I'm Thinking Of Ending Things as a heartbreakingly bleak trans horror story. this was my first conclusion, almost as a joke, but when i looked over the book again i found that it made so much sense.
these are a few details that i think contribute to my interpretation :
jake is not just imagining himself with a girlfriend, with a better more fulfilling life, he's imagining himself as a girl. Jake's source of depression comes from not living up to his full potential, but there's really no specific way he envisions his "better life" except "im a girl this time, and im happy".
the girl is never named, nor described (other than a one-off line confirming that she's blonde, and also implying that Jake is blonde) but the book alludes that Girl looks a lot like Jake. her appearance is supposedly drawn from a girl he saw at trivia night, and then he started.. imagining himself as this girl? i don't think his avoidance of her was a "missed connection" type of thing. i think he felt longing in an envious way. he can never bring himself to be with a woman because it would make him upset, like being someone's boyfriend would just be a confirmation of his current gender. his expected role as a man. taking any steps to make a life for himself involves being perceived as a man. a boyfriend, a husband, a father. he doesn't want to lock himself into these roles.
during the sex scene, he says "let's use our hands, only our hands". even in his fantasies he can't bear to imagine normal PIV sex because He Doesn't Know What It Feels Like From A Girls Perspective. even when he is the girl, he Can't imagine it, and he can't disrupt his perfect dream. so they use their hands, only their hands.
the paintings. the grotesque imagery of both his selves trying to merge, hidden away in a basement. the picture on the wall of "Jake as a child" that looks exactly like Girl.
at the end, Jake is being hunted down by his younger self. there's this sense of anger from him, as Girl dissipates into an old man, "Why didn't you do it? We could've had this life. It's too late now. Why didn't you do it?" he now believes there's no chance of becoming who he wants to be. that this is how life will always feel. that the only way out is relieving himself of feeling this way entirely : killing himself. merging as one with the Girl, he can stay inside this dream forever. nothing has to hurt anymore.
AND HE DIES IN A CLOSET.
i found that there are a lot of parallels between I'm Thinking Of Ending Things and I Saw The TV Glow. it looks like only one of them leaves room for hope, but i don't think that's entirely true.
I Saw The TV Glow tells us "there is still time". it has an equally bleak ending, but it's not over. Owen isn't dead. no matter how old he is, his life is not over. as long as he's still alive there is still time.
and I'm Thinking Of Ending Things tacks onto this, "what are you waiting for?"
they both have symbolism that can read as suicide or transition. in a way, it's both. it's presented as "killing" a part of yourself. The Real You is suffocating. the idea of having to upheave your entire life, however "good" it may be now, for a chance at happiness (potentially alienating yourself from everything and everyone you know)- is terrifying. the alternative (that you give up, that life is going to feel like this forever) is equally terrifying.
but There Is Still Time.
we didn't see Owen make it out. we don't see Jake survive. but you're here. like a cautionary tale-- you walk out of that theater, you close this book, after looking into a shattered mirror that echoes the terrifying thought of your hopes and dreams being euthanized. after looking into a crystal ball that tells you Yes, It Will Hurt. Yes, It Will Be Hard. this is how it can be, this is how it often goes. but it doesn't have to be you. it doesn't have to end like this for you.
i can never get it out of my head : There Is Still Time. What Are You Waiting For?
