So they can't add my phone number bc I don't have an iPhone 🙃 thats been on my list of things to do since NOVEMBER.

Anyways I asked about my appt bc I'm going in for a purple screen that happened twice 4 months ago, video clips being slow to be added together/taking hours instead of minutes and upload speeds on my youtube being slow.

He told me if I go to Apple without photos and a prior phone call with us doing steps they are going to tell me to call Apple in the lobby and troubleshoot options. Aka it's going to be a major waste of time without screenshots... so I canceled the appt.....

I am going to screenshot it next time it happens. I'll take a photo of the purple screen if it happens again, and I will take photos of my slow YouTube upload times. Then I can call Apple, go through troubleshooting options and then schedule an appt bc otherwise I would be wasting my time....

So with that being said, idk if I'm going to West Farms Saturday... I mean whether or not you are going to show up I have no clue but it was worth it to go for the apple appt..and then throwing in lens crafters.....

Now I'm on the fence, I know you're here but I also know you're a mom... and I want to ask for conformation, I want to be like add me on that site if you'll be there Saturday. Or post the Wow men post if you'll be there Saturday but when I tried it last time, you went completely Mia...... and yea... there are closer lens crafters.... and idk what to do.

The two things made the idea of you not showing up, kinda whatever cause I don't really expect to run into you anywhere. I WANT TO more than I want my auditory hallucination to stop but I can't make you confirm... and I'm not asking you to but I wish you'd consider.

Let me weigh driving to west farms now without even considering you, I can go to a glasses store, that's open later than 5-6 p.m and look around and get disappointed but nonetheless I can look around and try to find frames for my face...

On a scale of 0 being pointless and 10 being worthwhile, it's like a 5 cause I have local stores.. although lens crafters does have that year protection plan other places don't and all other lens crafters other than at the brass mill mall close earlier...

Maybe I could go to the Brass Mill Mall. I'm going to assume you won't go. And it's closer to me and they have lens crafters and I can try on frames.

I have to consider gas money, glasses money and I have to erase the idea from my mind that you'll show up ever... I don't want to but I can't go thinking you'll go and get depressed, so with that being said I'm going to the Brass Mill Mall Lens Crafters Saturday since the apple store was a bust and now I have no purpose to go to Farmington....

I hope if you were considering going on Saturday me changing the location won't be problematic. I'm going to head to lens crafters at 5 p.m for me bc I need glasses unless the weather is shitty.

I will keep this updated on the off chance you can show up. I really want to see you Elise but wherever I go and whatever I do has to have purpose. I can't do what I did months ago. And the brass mill mall does have purpose.

late night stroll

Summary: Late night texts turn into a late night stroll.

A/N: This is based off of the text thread: Invitation (NOT). I can upload screenshots if anyone wants them.

DING! DING! DING!

You let out a sigh, the constant dinging from your phone starts to drive you up a wall. It’s late, the day had been long and sleep was within reach or at least it had been. The screen is a tad too bright as you squint them open, glaring at the name on the notifications.

The GREAT Mammon (3 text messages)

Mammon: Are you awake? (1:30AM)

Mammon: You are, right? (1:30AM)

Mammon: You must be! (1:31AM)

The thought to simply ignore the messages crosses your mind, but then you think of the cheeky smile and decide to reply.

You: Yup,  I’m still up. (1:33AM)

DING! DING! DING!

Mammon: Great! (1:35AM)

Mammon: Come out for a bit! (1:35AM)

Mammon: Let’s go for a walk! (1:36AM)

Almost instantly, three messages come in rapid succession. He truly did text the same way he spoke, excitedly and just letting one thought out at a time instead of one full thought, but you really do enjoy that about him.

You: Sounds good! (1:37AM)

You push yourself out of bed, grabbing the nearest pair of sweats, even with the weather getting a bit warmer, nights were still a bit chilly. A giddiness fills your chest, excited that he thought to invite you and not someone else. You take once last glance in the full-length mirror; sweats and a long sleeve would have to do because the fact you managed to put your shoes on the proper feet was a miracle.

DING! DING! DING! DING! DING!

You quickly turn the sound off, almost dropping it in the process, carefully glancing around the hallway, hoping no one had been woken up. Well, anyone other than Levi, even at this late/early hour, you knew he was still awake but his headphones would keep him from hearing anything.

The walk to Mammon’s room isn’t too far, but just long enough for you to read his newest messages.

Mammon: It’s because we haven’t been able to spend much time together, ya know. Just you and me. (1:39AM)

Mammon: So I need more of ya, Y/N. (1:39AM)

Mammon: You better not get me wrong! It’s not like I NEED ya! (1:40AM)

Mammon: So come to my room. Right now! (1:40AM)

Mammon: And make sure my brothers don’t find out. It’d be a pain in the rear if they tagged along. (1:40AM)

He really could be a huge dork when he wanted and you loved how you could feel the flustered tone through the screen. Before you could knock, he opens the door, catching you off-guard and even though he quickly tosses his head to the side, you still got a look at the blush that covered his cheeks when he saw you.

*                      * Both of you slowly walk down a nearby path, the night is quiet and peaceful which Mammon equates to his brothers not tagging along. You take a deep breath, taking in the nice night’s air and the lingering notes of Mammon’s expensive cologne that he had bragged to Asmo about just a few weeks ago.

Even with neither of you talking, it wasn’t awkward and that’s something you are thankful for. You really aren’t sure of what to say, what to do, because while you felt comfortable around Mammon, you also like Mammon and couldn’t keep a conversation going to share your life.

Mammon’s shoulder brushes against yours and at first you barely notice, but it continues to happen and you can’t help but glance at the white-haired demon to your left, a half smile on your face. It’s not until you playfully bump his shoulder back that Mammon finally speaks.

“H-hey! W-w-watch it!” He turns to face you, his face entirely red from embarrassment.

“Sorry.” You smirk.

Silence falls back over you two as you continue down the small path, a crisp breeze swirls around you and you shiver, your choice of attire clearly not suited for the weather. You cross your arms, rubbing your hands against your biceps, hoping it would produce some warmth.

“Humans are so dumb, here.” He shrugs off his bicolored aviator jacket before he shoves it into your arm.

“Thank you.” You smile, quickly slipping the jacket on, embracing the warmth it brings wholeheartedly.

He simply scoffs before going on a small tangent that HE doesn’t care if you freeze, but Lucifer would be upset and that he’s not scared of Lucifer, but he certainly didn’t want to deal with his older brother. Of course, all you can do is laugh because if there was one thing you knew it was how to read between the lines when it came to Mammon’s comments.

** After walking a decent distance, you both turned around, heading back to the house and the way back to the house was filled with more conversation that the first half, especially since you knew to ask him about Goldie and any upcoming money-making schemes ideas.

He is lost in his rambles, telling you about this witch that mentioned to him some super rare, not at all a fake, large diamond that she had come across when a rustle came from a nearby bush. Mammon immediately jumped, grabbing the closest thing to him which happened to be your hand and you both just stopped.

“I-I’m not scared, ya know.” But he doesn’t let go of your hand.

You smile at him, squeezing his hand in yours slightly. You watch him slowly start to turn red, all the way up to the tips of his ears.

“I wish we could’ve walked a little longer.”

“Let’s go another time!” He immediately catches what he’s said and starts stammering. “Not because you said so. Maybe I want to and you aren’t bad company.” You softly chuckle to yourself as he opens the door, holding it up so you can slip in first. Part of you expects him to drop your hand as you both tiptoe by the kitchen, neither noticing Beel who stops eating long enough to notice you both, but he doesn’t. Instead he holds it all the way up until you two reach the door to your room and even then, he doesn’t look happy to let it go.

You look up, leaving a small kiss on his cheek before walking into your room, leaving a flustered blushing mess of a Mammon on the other side.

*                      * “Mammon and Y/N went for a walk late last night!” Beel shares excitedly, the rest of his brothers all looking around the breakfast table at each other before all eyes landed on the guilty pair.

“Beel!” You shout, embarrassment creeping up the back of your neck as you try to conceal your face.

“WHAT!?” Levi looks up from his phone, he’d been playing the new Rui-chan phone app.

“When?” Satan adds, placing his cup of tea down.

“I saw them sneaking back in when I got my second midnight snack.” He straightens in his seat, proudly, “they were holding hands too!” “I want to hold hands with Y/N! Y/N hold my hand!” Asmo pouts, reaching his hand across the table to take your hand.

“Let’s go for a walk later.” Lucifer winks, causing Mammon to turn red, slamming his hands on the table as he stands up.

“Y/N is MY human. I was their first!”

Tips on creating fun fanfic headers!

i had so much fun writing the fanfic writing tips yesterday and i got a few more questions about header-making, and so i decided to make one more of these! i hope these tips help somebody out there! hope you enjoy :) 

p.s. these tips won’t require any hard editing skills or photoshop skills, nor any expensive tablets/apps! 

typically i spend around ~5-10 min creating one header, and that’s either after i think of/finish a fic. i have so much fun doing it and sharing it with you that i figured i’d share how i do it! 

why headers? 

as I talked about in my fic tips, one of the most eye-catching things about fics are headers. when i’m scrolling through a rec page, my home page, a tag, or even someone’s masterlist, i’m immediately drawn to well-made headers. that’s what captures my attention, and then i’m more drawn in by the content. so, you can say that headers is your own version of an ad for your own fic, or an extension of it (like the cover of a novel!) 

if you were writing your own book, imagine how much time you’d spend figuring out what you wanted your cover to look like. i try to have as much fun and invest as much time making my own headers because it’s just the cherry on top to my finished product :) 

disclaimer: BUT HEADERS ARE NOT NECESSARY/DO OR DIE! if you don’t feel like you want to do this, then keep writing! its ok! this is just a suggestion. i’ve seen plenty of well-written fics without headers at all, so don’t beat yourself up over not having one/not wanting to do one. this is truly just a fun, extra kind of thing, and only keep reading if you want to learn how i do it! :) 

tips for people who don’t want to make headers: if you still want something to make your fic stand out, use gifs! i use them in my drabbles a lot! this will at least give ur fic a lil boost! 

how to find pictures

I typically use unsplash, which is a free website in which photographers upload their HQ pics for free use. the pics are really high quality, typically stock photos, and don’t have any logos on them like other ones on google. unfortunately, you won’t find any pics of the members or anything, but you’ll find beautiful stock photos of typical scenes like “ocean scene” or “desert scene.” I found the stock photo for cut me open (shown below) on that site by just looking up “medical” or “doctor”. 

i used to use google a lot and just use keywords like “desert scene HQ” and edit the search settings to deliver HQ pics, and a minimum # of pixels, but unplash is definitely better in terms of quality, more aesthetic photos, and no logos/watermarks. 

on some occasions, i will screenshot some scenes of youtube videos, turning up the quality to 1080p or 4k and zooming in so that the pixelation is as crisp as possible, and then editing it later to look good (which i’ll explain in a second!) 

the above photo was a scene from the specific characters from the drama, “100 Days My Prince” that I screenshotted from a youtube video that TvN uploaded, recapping the drama. I cropped it just right so that their faces were left out, which i’ll also mention soon! 

things to look for when picking pictures: 

you want the picture to reflect a specific motif/theme from your fic! if its a moody fic, then try to find a moody scene that you can edit with filters/lighting to look even moodier; or if the characters’ jobs are a big portion of the fic (like cut me open/doctor theme) try to look for stock photos with that shown very clearly!

make sure its high quality: tumblr really dumbs down the quality of the photo when uploading it, so try your best to find something with a lot of pixels in it so that when you start editing, you don’t sacrifice too much of the quality already

try to look for something simple/clean: a picture with too much subject (ie. people in the background, or too much detail) may end up taking away from the main point of your header, which is your title. so find pics without too much clutter! 

try to make sure its landscape: which will help during editing to save some of the quality better. 

editing your pictures

now that you have a specific photo you want to use, now its time to edit! I use VSCO CAM (free app) and my own apple photos cropping tool for faster crops. 

crop/adjust: if your picture is too large/wide, crop it to at least a 16:9 ratio. i’d say aim for skinnier if you can, so that you don’t take up too much space (especially if you’re planning to add headers to your masterlist). also crop out any faces, any clutter, any unnecessary details, so you have a nice, clean slate to work on when adding text. 

contrast/sharpen/clarity/white balance/etc.: i’m not gonna give you a lesson on photography, but i’ll tell you I learned like 80% of everything that i know just by fiddling with it on VSCO! So just try it out and play with the app, see what you can make of it. i’d say a rule of thumb to follow is that you want happier fics with a brighter tone, and moodier/angsty fics with a darker tone so that it can reflect the nature of the fic further, without saying anything! 

if you wanna be extra af like me, then go a step further and photoshop your pics. this one is a good example; when i screenshotted this scene from another youtube video for my fic One Year My Love part 2, i was specifically looking for a scene that would showcase the ornate/regal details of their clothing/environment in contrast to part 1′s modest clothing/scene (the first header in this post). 

i found this scene, but actually, this scene portrays the Crown Prince and the Princess, not y/n. So, the actors weren’t smiling at all! They were actually frowning at eachother in this scene, to portray the tension between the two characters and their marriage. 

So, I took the extra step, adjusting the pic with VSCO so that their shoulders/chins were at the same level, cropped off their faces up until their lips, and then used the adobe photoshop free app to photoshop their lips to be SMILING at eachother!!!! subtle, but important! 

call me crazy for taking that much time but i’m so proud of how it turned out and i loved every second of making this one. that way, this scene makes it portray the happy ending for Jungkook and y/n! 

adding text to your header

you can use any app out there, but i really like Font Candy! I actually ended up buying the 2$ version of this and never regretted it, but you can actually find a lot of their basic fonts on the free version; I tend to use the fonts: OSTRICH SANS, BEBAS, TREND, and INTRO the most! these are pretty clean-looking, block letters that look good whenever i put them as my titles. 

I love this app too cause you can easily control the spacing between letters to make them take up more space, add shadows, or even make them contrast their background using the overlay feature; like this one i made for wildest dreams (see how the text changes depending on what part of the photo its on? amazing! it’s literally with a click of a button!!)

And i’ll always add “written by HAYJEON” or “by HAYEJON”, space it out, and add it somewhere underneath as my own branding.

orrrrrr 

if you want to be more creative, you can even go a step further and use whatever you have on hand to enhance whatever you’re trying to portray. 

for this one, i ended up finding this amazing photo on unsplash and i thought it would do a create job of portraying the “movie-set” quality of what wildest dreams is going to be about. this stock photo had someone else’s names on it, so i used my ipad, and used instagram to just erase the existing writing with the color of the background, and then wrote in my own title and url with my own handwriting/apple pen!!! 

i thought this was pretty cool because it’s like wildest dreams is its own movie/has its own movie set, which, once it’s out, you guys will see that it’s supposed to be! 

saving/uploading

this is pretty easy/obvious, but i figured i’d mention it. all the apps i mentioned are available on the appstore, and they will save directly to your photos. after doing that, i’ll just upload them into a special folder i have on my google drive so that when i’m finished writing a fic on tumblr using my laptop, i can easily download the photos without sacrificing quality. easy! 

and that way, i can save them forever; even if i have to delete them from my computer, i can always redownload them! 

side note: making text separators

i just recently started doing this, but ever since tumblr took down their text separators, i’ve just been cropping the bottom like 5-10 pixels of the header to use as my text separators! (with my laptop)

i saw some other writer doing it and thought that it looked better than what i had used previously (a cropped photo of a random line i found on google); i found that doing this tied my fics together a little better and just looked better aesthetically;

PART 10 一 REPEL

Summary: Ethan and Y/N are neighbors. And although Y/N is on good terms with Ethan’s twin brother Grayson, Y/N and Ethan loathe each other and are constantly in dispute. Ethan is a popular varsity football player, who likes to be in the spotlight. Y/N prefers to stay under the radar while reading books and poetry.

Although the constant bickering between the two drives everyone around them crazy - the two live their separate lives peacefully. At least that’s how it was until they wake up one morning and everything was changed…

As soon as Grayson parked his car in front of Austin’s house you wanted to leave. There was loud music playing, and not even good music. It was only 10:20pm but the driveway to the house was already filled with trash. Empty red solo cups laid in the grass and you could see old cigarette butts still smoldering.

Grayson locked the car and walked towards the front door; which was open. You let Grayson enter first. This way you could copycat his way of behaving. Grayson greeted two boys who were standing in the hallway. He swung his arms around both their shoulders and pulled their heads to his chest.

‘Max! Ryan!’ Grayson smiled happily. Max and Ryan laughed and tried to escape from Grayson’s tight grip. They greeted Grayson with big smiles and turned to you, giving you a brotherly slap on your shoulders.

‘Ethan! Good to see you man!’ Max smiled at you. You grinned at the two boys.

‘Let’s go inside, get you guys a drink!’ Ryan said, walking towards the kitchen. ‘Austin said we could take whatever we want,’ he explained while opening the fridge. Your eyes widened at the sight of the beer bottles and the big bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

To your relief, Grayson declined the beer Max handed to him.

‘Still playing the saint?’ Max joked, but you couldn’t help but notice the hint of annoyance in his voice.

‘Gotta keep a clean record so I can get that scholarship, Max,’ Grayson explained calmly while grabbing a soda can from the fridge. ‘Not all of us have rich parents who’ll pay anything to get us in a good college.’

Your eyebrows rise in surprise. Grayson’s shady comment clearly doesn’t go unnoticed by Max either but before he could reply, Grayson grabs another soda can and your arm and pulls you towards the living room.

‘Asshole,’ Grayson mutters angerly as he sips from his soda. You make a vague gesture with your shoulders as a reaction. From your place in the living room you had a great view over the driveway. You hoped Ethan would arrive soon.

He texted you earlier this night how he would be bringing Olivia, as it would have been weird if ‘you’ showed up alone at Austin’s party. He had sent you screenshots of his conversation with Olivia when he told her they were going to the party. Taking in the account that he was coming with Olivia explained the fact that he was late. Olivia was horrible at making choices when it came to clothing. You had to bite your lip to stop yourself from laughing at the idea of Olivia grabbing, what she would think was your hand, pulling Ethan into her room, and showing Ethan all the outfits she picked out for tonight. You would have paid at least 20 bucks to see Ethan's reaction to Olivia walking around in her bra and underwear, talking like there was no tomorrow.

‘Your girlfriend is here.’

You broke your staring contest with the driveway and looked at Grayson. ‘Who is here?’

Grayson nodded towards the side, your eyes followed and landed on Sophia.

‘She’s not my girlfriend!’ You told Grayson angerly and he raised his hands in defense.

‘Okay, your fuckbuddy, or whatever you wanna call it,’ he grinned and rolled your eyes, clenching your jaw in annoyance.

‘She’s not my fu-‘

‘Ethan!’

Sophia’s arms wrapped themselves around your shoulders and pull you close to her.

‘Hi Sophia,’ you greet her awkwardly. She turned you around and smiled happily at you, her breath smelling like red wine. You can see Grayson walking away from the corner of your eyes. So much for brother-love, apparently.

‘Hi babe!’ Sophia started to lean in. Just in time, you realized how she’s about to kiss you. You quickly turn your head and her lips touch your cheek. You can feel your cheeks heating up, your face twisting in embarrassment.

‘Do you want a drink? I can get us something?’ You ask her before she can retry kissing you. She takes a second to think about it.

‘Actually yes. Could you get me a glass of red wine?’ She flickers her lashes at you - probably under the impression of it being ‘cute’ while it just makes her look like she has something in her eyes.

You unwrap yourself from her arms and walk toward the kitchen. You fill a glass with wine for Sophia and cruse when you spill some on the white countertop. You quickly wipe it away with a kleenex and get another soda from the fridge for yourself. It takes a second to convince yourself you really shouldn’t take a sib (or the whole bottle) of that Grey Goose vodka - just to make yourself a little more comfortable.

You walk towards the kitchen door, eyes focused on the glass on wine, trying not to spill more. Just when you want to take a look where you’re going, a body collides with yours.

A yelp leaves your mouth, scared you’ll spill wine on yourself. Luckily you only spill some wine over your hand and not on your own shirt or the person you bumped into.

‘Y/N? Why do you have wine?’

You look up and see your own face. ‘Ethan!’ You breathe, relieved seeing him.

‘The wine is for Sophia, she wanted some,’ you explained yourself, putting the glass down and washing your hands. Ethan nodded and refilled the glass while your dried your hands.

‘I’m glad you’re here. I’m already so ready to leave! Grayson snapped at Max and Sophia cornered me and tried to kiss me!’ You told Ethan.

‘I’m sorry I’m late but that’s completely Olivia’s fault! She made me choose an outfit! And she started changing in front of me! Is that normal for girls? Do you get naked in front of each other all the time?!’ Ethan's cheeks turn a light shade of pink. You chuckle at his discomfort.

‘C’mon, like you’ve never seen a girl in her bra before!’ You joke but Ethan ignores it. You two walk towards the living room to hand Sophia her drink.

‘You said Grayson scolded at Max, why was that?’ Ethan asked, his face close to your face so you could hear him over the loud music.

‘Don’t really know. Something about Gray and I not wanting a beer and Max mumbling something about Grayson playing for a saint.’ You explained to Ethan. He clenched his jaw in frustration.

‘Max is always trying to push us into drinking and doing drugs. I think we’re losers for trying to stay clean.’ Ethan said. ‘But, unlike Max, we really need a scholarship to pay for college.’ He huffed in annoyance. You notice his discomfort when mentioning the scholarships and stop walking and turn to Ethan.

‘That what Grayson said too!’ You smiled at him and you rest your hand on his. ‘And Gray also said that you shouldn’t worry too much about those scholarships because you both will be all right. He said multiple ivy leak schools already contacted the coach!’

Ethan sighs deep and you can see his shoulders relax. ‘Yea, you’re right. Thanks, wiseass.’

Before you can react to the nickname you hate a high pitch scream fills your ears.

‘Here you are!’ Sophia’s claw-like hands grab your arm and pull you away from Ethan. The wine in your hand almost spills for the third time that night. Sophia, however, grabs it from your hands: just in time. She downs the whole glass in a way she could do a fraternity proud and gives you a sly smile when she finishes.

‘Why were you talking to that girl E?’ She pouts as she wraps her arms around your shoulders and neck.

‘She’s such a nerd! And ugly too!’ Ouch, that hurts.

‘I mean have you seen what she’s wearing? Such a nun! I’d rather be a slut than such a prude!’ Sophia pushes you back towards where everyone is dancing. You quickly look at Ethan, who is talking to Olivia. He’s wearing a black turtleneck with a dark velvet green spaghetti strap top. He tucked both into high waisted jeans and combined them with boots. You know that Olivia helped him pick because you would never wear something like that yourself.

‘I think she looks nice,’ you say and Sophia gives you an annoyed look. Jealous?

‘She’s a bitch and a know-it-all! How do you even know her!?’

‘She’s my fr-’ you stop yourself before you could finish that word. Were you and Ethan friends?! You shake your head to clear your mind. You and Ethan could never be friends. You hate him!

‘She’s in my history class and my project partner.’ You correct yourself. But Sophia is too far gone to be really listening. She has her eyes closed and slowly dances to the music. She pushes herself close against you and again you are confronted by the fact how tall and broad Ethan was. You awkwardly hold her so she doesn’t fall. A smile formed around her red lips and she starts to grind against you, front to front.

‘So-Sophia what are you doing?’ You mumble, feeling the blood rush to your head, buzzing in your ears. Sophia, however, either does not hear you or does not care. She turns around and presses her ass firmly against your lower parts. You recoil your body as fast as you can, but Sophia is just as fast as she turns around again and grabs your firmer.

You turn around and walk away to find Grayson.

‘Let’s get her inside and we’ll look for Grayson.’ Ethan says and the two of you bring Sophia inside. You put her on the couch while Ethan gets a cup of water. The two of you wait with her when she drinks the cub, her eyes still being vague from all the alcohol.

‘I cannot believe that you used to fuck her,’ you say when Sophia closes her eyes as she lays down flat on the couch. Ethan stays quiet and looks at Sophia with a weird expression on his face.

‘You know she tried to grab your dick when we were alone? That's sexual assault!’ You look at Ethan but he only raises his shoulders.

I sat at my desk waiting for four pm to finally arrive, so I could go home. Today has been the worst day I’ve ever had. I couldn’t concentrate on anything and the urge to go home bugged me since I came into the office this morning. My thoughts were all over the place and not once did I think about the work I had to do. My brain just came up with the worst scenarios of how Sebastian could find my blog and everything on it. My stomach felt heavy. This is stealing energy from me, making it impossible to get through the day.

I logged out of Tumblr to avoid getting distracted, but even the thought of people having screenshotted the chapter I posted, made my stomach twist and turn. I noticed a few sending me hate anonymously, so logging out seemed to be the only solution not to act on it. The thought of deleting my whole blog also crossed my mind, but I didn’t want to throw away everything I’ve built. I’m attached to what I created and shared, so losing something that brought me nothing but joy over the past year made me sad. I’ve met some amazing people on there, some I even consider my friends. 

My prayers were finally answered, so I packed my things and left as quickly as possible. On my way out I passed by my boss who is wearing a particularly swampy looking tie today, making me laugh internally. As I sat down on the driver’s seat, my phone started ringing and I saw Sebastian’s name on the display. A smile crept up on my face. “Hey, Seb. What’s up?”

“Hey, I wanted to ask you if you would like to come over to eat and watch a movie.” 

I smiled even wider making my cheeks hurt. “Sure I’ll come right when I washed this day off my body.” I heard him chuckle on the other end.

I was listening to sad songs the whole time I was driving home to match my mood. I did this. It’s my fault that people are catching on what’s happening. I should’ve never started that whole series. If I never started talking about my neighbour being Sebastian, none of this would’ve happened. But there was no turning back now. I did what I did and dwelling on it is not going to change a single thing.

When I got home I immediately went into my bathroom to take a shower. The warm water hitting my skin, making my muscles relax. I tried to push every thought of the disaster happening online to the very back of my brain. I wanted to enjoy this evening with my boyfriend, Sebastian. I put on a pair of leggings and oversized shirt, to be as comfortable as possible.

I left my apartment and went straight so Sebastian’s, knocking on his door. He opened the door in sweatpants and a sweater, matching my comfortable aesthetic. He gestured for me to come in by stepping away from the door. I noticed a few candles had been lit and the smell of pizza made my hunger grow tremendously. We sat down on the couch and Seb brought out some movies to choose from. Sebastian disappeared somewhere while I decided on what movie we should watch.

“Y/n, look.” I turned around to see Sebastian holding a cactus. He smiled from ear to ear showing me the plant. “I got it today. You kept talking about cacti when you first came over.” I couldn’t hold back laughing a little. 

“You remembered!” I was quite surprised he did. “So now you expect me to take care of it when you’re gone, right?” He went over to the bookshelf to put the cacti back between the books. 

“Well you did offer to do that, didn’t you?” He sat next to me, placed his arm around my shoulder and kissed my temple. I looked up to meet his eyes.“I did.” 

A small giggle escaped my lips and Sebastian moved closer to me brushing his lips against mine before gently kissing me. He pulled away while still staying close to my face. “You’re so adorable.” He gave me another kiss before starting the movie.

We had a fun time just eating and laughing at how stupid the people in horror movies could be. Seb’s very affectionate, always placing kisses on the side of my face, squeezing my hand and whispering sweet nothing’s in my ear making me shiver. 

I stood up to make my way to the toilet. His bathroom has the same vibes as the rest of his apartment. His products neatly placed on a shelve and it looked like he recently cleaned the sink.

I stepped back into the living room to see Sebastian now standing, with his gaze fixed on his phone. I took a few steps towards him as he lifted his head to meet my eyes, confusion written all over his face. 

“Is this real?” I looked at him equally as confused because I had no idea what he was talking about. “Is this your blog?” He held his phone in front of him so I could see the screen, showing my Tumblr Blog. I lost any and all abilities to speak. I knew this was coming. The truth always comes out, but I was hoping it wouldn’t. In this exact moment I wanted to turn into dust. The realization kicked in. He read the chapters.

He read ‘Apartment’.

The series where I documented everything that happened since I moved in. The series where I shared personal and special moments of us. I fucked up, I knew that now. It’s too warm for me to handle and the air seemed harder to inhale. 

“You were lying this whole time? You knew who I was and lied to my face?” He turned away from me running his hand through his hair. I wanted to say something, I really did but nothing came out. I didn’t know what to say. “And on top off it you shared it online?” He turned back around and I could see the pain in his eyes.

“I didn’t know I would fall in love with you, and I wanted to talk about it.” I tried reaching out to him, to touch him but he distanced himself even further.

“You could’ve talked to a friend, y/n!” 

“But, those are my friends. And yes I’m a fan of Marvel, but does that really matter?” I knew exactly where he was coming from, but that shouldn’t stop us from being together.

“No it wouldn’t be a problem if you would’ve been honest with me and not share our story online.” He sat back on the couch and put his head in his hands. 

“I’m sorry. Please—“

“How am I supposed to trust you?” He lifted his head and I saw the tears running down his face. “Is there anything else you lied about? I don’t know what’s true or not anymore, y/n.”

“I didn’t lie about anything else, I promise. I was just so shocked it was actually you and I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable. I had no idea what it would turn into, how was I supposed to know?”

He got up from his seat to walk towards the kitchen. He poured himself a glass of water and leaned on the counter with his back facing me, signalling me that he doesn’t want to look at me. “I think you should go, y/n.”

I picked up my bag and slowly opened the door. “I’m really sorry” was all I could get out, without my voice completely disappearing into thin air. I had no idea that this day could get even worse. And now he wants me to leave him alone.

I closed the door to my apartment and tried to compose myself, to not break down completely. My lungs couldn’t provide me with the air I needed, with my chest rising and collapsing faster than it should. My head dizzy with his words screaming at me louder than I could handle, over and over again. 

But in the end, my body still collapsed to the floor. Holding my knees tightly to my chest to steady myself. It seemed like the world turned against me, pointing their fingers towards not just my mistakes, but also me as a person. How am I supposed to face him again after the mess I’ve caused? My secret is out and more people know than I want to.

I have been seriously struggling with my WiFi every morning in my new office and could not figure out why. Speedtest was 'very slow' on my Macbook Pro 2015 and super quick on iPhone 8, it has been painful and driving me nuts!! It usually got quicker throughout the day, but unbearable in the morning. So how to fix a slow Mac. All Macs begin to slow down with age — MacBook Pro, iMac, it doesn’t matter. Performing several heavy tasks at a time, your Mac may get slower, and it’s okay. Although, when you’re facing unresponsive windows and slow load time more often these days, your Mac definitely needs a boost. Why is my Mac running slow? Actually, Mac becomes slower and slower with the age you use it, no matter it is MacBook Pro, Air or Mac mini. To speed up your Mac, you had better find out the reasons why Mac is so slow. In this article, we will show you 5 reasons that explain why Mac is running slow and give you corresponding advice to. Check your Internet connection. For many Mac users, a slow Internet connection is synonymous with a slow computer. That’s because almost everything they do—from surfing the Web to checking. But for those of you who are real fans of Apple and decide to stick to Safari, we’re going to help you get to the root of your Safari issues in this guide, starting with the possible reasons why Safari is slow.

Hopefully, you’ll have Safari back to normal in no time, and be able to use the browser flawlessly.

Note: if Safari is not just slow, but keeps freezing and crashing, read this post instead for more troubleshooting tips.

Important Tips

It’s normal for Safari to run slow on certain websites – By certain websites, we mean “heavy” sites that are loaded with flash or video ads on the pages you browse. Worse yet, some even auto-play without you clicking on. They tend to have your MacBook heat up quick. The best option is to close those pages immediately when you finish reading the content on it, or you could install AdBlock Plus (Safari compatible) to block the ads from displaying.

Stop excessively multitasking – You’d be surprised how much better 90% of programs work when you don’t try and use them at the same time as a dozen other apps. It seems like a simple solution, but it is often the best one.

Take care of Safari – Some methods are a matter of habit, such as regularly clearing your cache or making sure the app is up to date. Imagine your computer as a car that needs regular maintenance to run well.

Don’t neglect the computer – Macs are not immune to viruses, despite the common perception. They also aren’t immune to file corruption or errors. Make sure you haven’t picked up anything unwanted while browsing that could be affecting Safari’s performance.

Below are some common causes directly or indirectly related to those Safari performance issues. Also, we’ll show you how to fix it step by step.

Possible Cause 1: Overworked Cache

The cache is a location on your Mac’s hard drive where Safari temporarily stores data that you use frequently. Macbook pro download folder more info. The cache allows Safari to reference this information quickly and therefore execute actions such as loading a specific page more quickly.

However, if the cache becomes full then Safari cannot add newer, more relevant material and is forced to use slower methods to respond to your demands.

Here’s how to erase the data in the cache so that Safari can work smarter rather than harder:

Start by erasing your history from Safari by navigating the menu bar along the top and choosing HISTORY > CLEAR HISTORY AND WEBSITE DATA.

Once you click this, you’ll be shown a small pop-up window. Choose “All History” from the bottom of the drop-down, and then Clear History.

The next thing you can do is clear the cache using a more advanced method. First, go the Safari menu and open Preferences.

On the preferences panel, choose “Advanced” and then look for the checkbox at the bottom of the page that says “Show Develop Menu in Menu Bar”. Make sure this box is checked, then close Preferences.

You’ll notice a new tab has been added to your menu bar, called “Develop”. Click on this, and then choose “Empty Caches” from the list. You won’t be given any confirmation, but it will clear the cache and you can restart Safari and see if this has solved your problem.

Possible Cause 2: Bad Extensions

Most people are aware that Apple doesn’t play well with Flash, but this isn’t the only plugin that could be causing Safari to lag. Any extension or plugin that is outdated or not correctly optimized could be the “culprit”, and you should disable or remove as many as possible.

The easiest way to do this is to use CleanMyMac X, go to Extensions > Safari Extensions (the screenshot below), here you just select these unwanted plugins, and click the “Remove” button at the bottom to clean them all at once.

Of course, you can also get this done manually, though the process will be a bit time-consuming if you have a list of extensions to disable or remove.

First, start by opening Safari, and then navigating to SAFARI > PREFERENCES

In the preferences menu, choose “EXTENSIONS” icon. You’ll be shown a list of all your extensions.

If you don’t use an extension, you should uninstall it with the button on the right side. If you use it but infrequently, simply uncheck the “enable” box. This should significantly speed up Safari, especially if you have been running a lot of extensions in the background.

Possible Cause 3: Outdated Version of Safari

Because Apple makes Safari, it usually receives updates when macOS has a new version released or when there is a necessary patch. If you’re running an old version of Safari, this could be part (or even all) of your problem.

If you aren’t on macOS Sierra or higher, your Safari is definitely in need of an update (all MacBook Pros made after 2009 are compatible with at least macOS Sierra). To check what you’re running, go the Apple Menu in the top left corner and choose “About this Mac”.

If you’re on an older version, your window will look something like this, displaying the version of OS X you’re running:

If you’re already on macOS Mojave, it will look like this instead:

If you aren’t on the latest macOS yet, open the App Store from Finder, and navigate to updates. There will be at least one software update available, which you can expand. This will show you the update for Safari, which you can update separately or with any other updates you may have available.

Issues Related to your Network or Computer

Possible Cause 4: Your Network

You might argue that the problems inside Safari are simpler to deal with, but sometimes it’s surprising that Safari isn’t necessarily the “culprit”. Your network can have a significant impact on Safari’s performance.

To find out whether your Mac has network issues, the best way is to use this app called Advanced Network Care — run a quick scan and it’ll display the network issues (if they exist). Vmware fusion free download for mac.

To test the Internet speed, you can also use Google Fiber. First, open the link on your Safari browser, then press the blue “play” button, and watch as your internet speed is tested. The site will first test your upload and then your download speed.

Once you have your results, you can compare them with this link, which contains charts detailing what you should expect based on the connection type. If your results are below expected, it might be time to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP), especially if speeds fall far below what you’re paying for.

Note: if speed seems normal and falls in the expected ranges, then this probably isn’t your problem, and you should try some of our other solutions.

Possible Cause 5: Your User Account or Mac Drive

Sometimes the issue runs a bit deeper than just a full cache- you could have a corrupted user account or your macOS version isn’t operating correctly. To determine if this is your problem, start by creating a second user account on your MacBook. Fl studio mac os catalina download.

On the new user account, open Safari and try using it as you normally would. If Safari suddenly runs faster, it’s time to repair your normal user account.

Use spotlight (top right corner of the screen) to search “Disk Utility” and open it.

The Disk Utility will repair any problems with your account. If it isn’t capable of fixing the problem, reinstalling macOS is always an alternative if a bit tedious to do.

Artwork Development, Project Announcement & Marketing

Part 1: Artwork Development & Project Announcement.

The past week was initially dedicated to completing artwork for the project, so that promotion can officially begin. While there has been a been mild teaser in the form of a promo video that was posted around a month ago, The name and release date of the project had not been publicly announced.

As stated previously, the decision was made to collaborate with a friend on designing the albums Artwork alongside an artist logo, both of which were completed in a weekend. The design and assembly of the artworks images were done in person, which allowed both of us to communicate creative decisions and ideas as work was being done.

The artwork was made by combining a mix of various public domain Retro futuristic and sci-fi images, and putting them together in photoshop.

The process only took a few hours, as the workflow was incredibly smooth, we both listened to some tracks of the album while designing the cover in order to maintain a clear image of what we felt was needed, the final product can be seen below.

Designing the artist logo was a simple process  that combined by my own face with the famous hijacker D.B. Cooper’s, which can be seen below: 

I was very pleased with the end results of the album artwork and artist logo. 

Trailer

To announce the project, I made a trailer by putting a 1 minute skit from the album over the albums cover art in iMovie. As the project has not yet been mastered I ran the premaster through an ozone mastering preset. As the only format the trailer will be in is an MP4 on Facebook and Instagram, It seemed suitable considering both websites compression rates (Bossetta, 2018). The trailer can be seen here:

Album announcement

The trailer was uploaded to Facebook and Instagram  and The project was announced on Thursday the 21/03/2019 at around 5.30pm. The choice of date was based on the day being a Thursday a day that studies have shown Facebook engagement rates are 18% higher on (Pagoto et al., 2016). I applied the same logic to Instagram due to the face of them being owned by Facebook

While the Facebook Post was posted on my private profile, and the video was set to ‘public’, the  Instagram video was uploaded to on my artist page alongside a higher resolution image of the album artwork as a seperate post.  and I made the decision to implement paid promotion on Instagram for 48 hours, which cost just over £15. The promotion was fairly successful, with the post garnering 150 likes and over 9,000 views. Screenshots of Facebook and Instagram Posts can be seen below: 

The reception of the announcement of the album has been extremely positive At the time of this post, the Facebook video has almost 600 views whilst the Instagram Video has almost 9,100. Two artists who are rappers and producers have also reached out to me asking to collaborate once the album has been released. 

Over the next month until release promotion will involve the release of a music video, and other teasers that will be made from material that won't make into the full album, and will be posted to Facebook and Instagram.

Production Analysis 3: Sampling

Although Sampling is often utilised and associated within the Hip Hop scene, Its practice is an often divisive in the music industry in regards its use as production technique throughout the music industry, and its integrity has often come into question (Behr, Negus and Street, 2017). Due to some of these concerns, the samples implemented throughout the album are heavily manipulated in order to greatly differentiate from the original sound. 

In this post I will be breaking down how I utilise sampling in two examples, displaying the original sample, then discussing the processes that lead to its use in the end product. One will focus on vocal manipulation whilst the other will focus on the use of a melodic sample. 

The chorus of the track First Contact is comprised of a distorted and manipulated vocal sample which was taken from a short excerpt of a song called ‘This Guys In love With You’. the clip was then pitched down by 6 semitones and the audio was chopped up and rearranged in in Ableton, resulting in a sample with a disjointed uncomfortable feel, when compared to its original format.

After I was happy of how the sample now sounded, I routed the audio through my SP and used its vinyl sim and pitch effects. The Wet audio then had sidechain compression to the drums applied. Its evolution from dry sample to i implementation into the chorus of  the track can be heard here:

The use of vocal manipulation  in this example took partial inspiration from how  Flying Lotus implements into his tracks, by ‘chopping’ the samples up drastically, and then using heavy sidechain compression to cause the vocals to duck under the kick drum every time it hits, providing the track with additional dynamic edge that is intended to complement the overall head bopping sound associated with Hip hop (Hodgson, 2011)

The main melody heard throughout the track solace is of a Rhodes sounding instrument, consisting of a two bar loop playing a few keys. While on a superficial level it may seem like a relatively simple melodic implementation, the tone the sample relays thoroughly reflect where the journey of the album is at, as this is the last full length track before the album's final skit. Once the sample was edited into a two bar loop it was routed through the SP-404’s Compressor and Vinyl Sim, which consisted of flutter and vinyl crackle sound effects, the timbre of which added a considerable difference to the original sample. The warmth and texture of the sample after it was processed can be seen within the DAW, when both images are compared:

The role of this melodic sample is to serve as a focal point for the rest of the composition to build upon, and work around in various ways for example adding progressive elements throughout that accompany the original melody in a way that adds to the intended atmosphere of the song, which will be heard in the full track.

The next step in the progress of the project is getting each track finished and mixed down so that the pre-masters can be sent off to Imperial.  As the pre-masters for the album have been agreed to be ready by the end of March/start of April. The rest week and a half will be solely focused on finishing the project. Once the pre-masters have been sent future posts will be discussing putting the album onto tape, promotional activity and further analysis of techniques used throughout production, alongside how some of the main concepts have been realised.
