sure thing! as someone who does a lot of unhealthy stuff on a daily basis (pls i can't help it </3) this hits close to home. don't follow my example ><! always be sure to take care of yourself!!

i could not think of a way to mix the two subjects together although they're a very common pair- so i made separate thoughts for them :D! let's start with the insecure part

woooohhhh boy, nagito is also very insecure of himself so hah- expect compliments from him that include degrading speech directed to himself

"you look beautiful, y/n" "really? you... think so?" "more beautiful than the sun at sunset. i honestly can't believe that someone as beautiful as you would be with someone as trashy as me—"

cut him off there before he does a whole speech on how he doesn't deserve you

whenever you achieve something he's the first person to congratulate and compliment you! he's very supportive <3

if ever you feel insecure about yourself, may it be about your appearance, your personality or your intelligence, he's immediately shutting down every negative word about yourself that leaves that pretty mouth of yous and instead counters with compliments and reassurance!

he just— can't see all the bad stuff that you see and he wishes you could see just how much he admires you and how he sees you as someone so far above him.

even if it takes a million compliments to get you to see yourself the way he sees you, he'll be sure to gift you 100 compliments for every flaw and imperfection that only you seem to spot.

now onto the unhealthy lifestyle hcs :)!

i personally headcanon nagito as someone who doesn't know how to take care of himself very well

yes he can cook, bathe, clean, watch his hygiene and all those other stuff but when it comes to just generally taking care of himself like eating his meals, sleeping early or keeping himself well kempt? he's not quite the best in those areas

nagito wants you to take care of yourself so bad but he can't even watch out for himself :( so he tries to make a few changes here and there to his own schedule that end up benefiting both him and you :>

every morning before school starts, nagito is sure to head over to your house with some food that he either made himself, or got at a shop/bakery before heading to your house

knocks a few times before entering your house with a spare key you gave him, and if he finds you still asleep when he goes to your room, he'll just let you rest for a few more moments knowing that you slept late the previous night and instead decides to prepare some of your stuff for the day and make you something to drink for when you wake up :) he's a sweetheart < 3

when you're awake he greets you good morning and compliments you on how beautiful you look which makes you blush before carefully ushering you to the bathroom so you can prepare yourself for the day before going with you to school

whenever it's lunch time he's sure to accompany you to the cafeteria so he can buy you lunch. he's not letting you pay cause he believes he should be treating you to food and not the other way around. won't allow you to split the funds either >:( but that's okay you just quietly slip a dollar into his wallet when he isn't looking

actually he did see he just keeps quiet about it cause he finds it cute how you really want to pay him back even though he said that the food is 100% on him and he just wants to see you happy :)

after classes if you two have homework or projects or a test, he'll accompany you to the library so you two can get some stuff done. he doesn't want you to end up panicking over deadlines or approaching test dates and then end up stressing yourself out which leads to cramming and sleepless nights

if you don't have anything to worry about he'll go with you to a cafe so you two can eat something and just spend time with each other

idk why but i can envision him just going "let's get some food? i have a feeling that you'll skip dinner tonight which isn't hopeful at all" with a playful smile while you lightly elbow his side

brings you home and reminds you of your plans for tomorrow and to sleep early tonight before heading home— not before getting his lil nose kiss tho :) he can't leave without it, makes him think he didn't do a good job as ur bf today (which isn't true he deserves all the kisses he can get. you did a great job today boyfie nagi :>)

when it's a bit a late, around 9:30 or 10 he'll check if you're awake and if you still are, he'll tell you to go to sleep

if you can't sleep however, he'll chat with you until you end up getting tired

if that doesn't work he'll nervously ask if you want to video chat

"would you like to uh, video chat perhaps?" "hm?" "of course, i can understand if you wouldn't wish to see me right now. who would even want to listen to me and have my voice be the final thing someone hears at ni—" "i'd love to have a video chat with you nagi :D!"

you broke him when you sent that message but he's quick to start a video chat with you

you two talk until nagito can see you peacefully snoozing off (he takes a picture of you sleeping cause he thinks you look adorable)

10/10 would recommend as a boyfriend who takes care of you :) he just really cares for you and wants you to take care of yourself. though the best part of taking care of you is that in turn, he was also able to take care of himself <3 yay!

This is one of my favourite like old WWII style songs, I just think it’s beautiful and really great to dance slow to (at some point in my life I will dance with my husband or wife to this song in our little kitchen, and then my life will finally be complete). It’s in Doctor Who (in The Empty Child) and Jack and Rose dance to it in front of Big Ben, like it’s a really great scene in one of the best episodes of Dr Who ever. So good and a great WWII song.

Yes, I know this is about Katya’s issues and everything that happened with that but like it is also like very accurate to the Captain’s arc. Like “soldier, take your time” is like yeah?? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I don’t believe the Captain is even remotely aware of the fact he’s gay cause like I don’t reckon he understands love or the fact that he’s got feelings like that, I don’t think he knows so yeah take your time to figure it out yeah, Captain.

This song seems to have taken a new meaning in pandemic times but Havers leaving Button House and (I assume) never returning but like the Captain staying at Button House completely in the dark as to what happened to Havers and therefore living with the possibility of Havers returning.

Obviousssss, but this song was such an integral part in me figuring shit out about my life. Like, I was 14 and a massive Troye fan when it came out and (growing up in a working class, strict religious, small town family) the music video was literally my first understanding of the fight for queer rights. I knew about LGBTQ+ identities and identified as a variety of queer labels at the time I was completely unaware of the entire struggle that had come before me and seeing photos and footage of this fight for the first time was O.o Anyway, I'll stop talking about myself and say that I’m incredibly happy with the hc of the Captain trying to learn a bit more about queer history in his journey to accept himself.

I’m gonna go off on a bit of a philosophy tangent but what were ya expecting from me honestly: the sample used in Achilles Come Down is an extract from a 1942 essay by Albert Camus who, alongside Kierkegaard and Nietzsche and the like, wrote about the concept of ‘the absurd’ which is a tricky concept but a reallyyyyyy simplified version of it is basically the idea that humans constantly search for a meaning and purpose for life and the universe but the universe does not provide answers to that which causes human distress. Basically, what I mean to say like isn’t that concept just so Captain?? Like he searches for meaning in war and can’t see life beyond the war because that provides him purpose, you know?? But yeah, it’s a banging song and I’m sorry about the tangent.

I’ve always interpreted the song as being about loneliness and well, Captain my boy that you. Like he’s literally surrounded by people 24/7 but is so very alone. When the others are all watching tv in Redding Weddy and the Captain is just sat in the window watching for Havers is just so pretty and I think it’s really telling of the relationship he has with the others.

The Captain’s name is Teddy, I take no debate on this. Just the idea of the Captain’s backstory, like a childhood backstory for the Captain genuinely makes me cry. I know a lot of people have shared their stories of their interpretation of the Captain’s childhood and they’re all sad and I love them all :’) (Specifically a big fan of Operation Keep Calm on AO3 and what they’ve done with the Captain’s character and story, 10/10 would recommend but it’s not finished and I really hope it is at some point ily).

i've heard about shadow and bone and the netflix adaptation, as well as six of crows, though i've read/watched none of them. It seems like a really popular opinion that six of crows is better. Why? Please give spoilers, i love spoilers, i may never even read the series but i googled it and found nothing and i really want to know why six of crows is better helpppp

JAJSKDDJDK I cannot give spoilers on my blog because, yknow, ~followers~ but I will say that I felt like I was MUCH more invested in the characters in Six of Crows than I was in Shadow and Bone. I also felt like the plot was much less predictable and was generally a more fun, interesting ride - plus, the Main Man is much easier to simp over! Kaz Brekker ladies and gents, dark broody scheming extraordinaire.  10/10 recommend (in theory. I’m 22 and he is 17 in the book so I was unable to engage in such simping but I respect the hustle for everyone else).

SaB took me about five hours to read, whereas SoC took mehhh nearly a full day, which is surprising given they’re only about a hundred pages different in length. I just found myself flying through SaB because I was like “ok I need to find something to latch onto here pls”, whereas I needed to really pause and get my bearings with SoC to keep track of the subplots and the backstories. which was super fun!

if you have no interest in reading the books, I’d say the show is a good way to get into the universe. it’s also a good way to stare at Ben Barnes.  And Amita Suman.  And Jessie Mei Li.  And Danielle Galligan.  And Archie Renaux.  And--

you get the idea.

needed an escape and figured i wanted to make my own, which led me to the rpc here.   now, its the friends i get to write with here and their fantastic muses.

andy from the old guard bc she’s kickbutt and immortal, amos burton from the expanse bc scary murder teddy bear,  sherlock from the  bbc version bc as much as i’d wanna strangle him he smart as hell, nook from animal crossing so we have someone with us we wont feel bad about sacrificing if need be, and maybe klaus from umbrella academy bc.... first of all i love him and secondly. there is no secondly. thats it.

hurt / comfort, people learning how to cope with their past with the help of others.       ....... kinda dark, but the whole  ‘ redemption for abusers ‘   thing, like the   ‘ forgiveness helps you heal ‘. i hate that. makes my blood boil every time.

i feel like callout culture’s really harmful and unnecessary. if you have an issue with someone, block and move on. no one’s forcing you to interact with them.

listen. if i spent a day with mahia, it would literally be comprised of me getting as much food into her as i can, stocking her up with supplies, showering her with love and comfort and support....

Overall Impression

Okay so when I watched hellevator I was fucking shook okay? How I found out was through a line distribution yt page I’m subscribed to, Hexa6on. They posted the line dist. and i was like ooh what’s this and I immediately was hooked. The visuals were on point. Vocals on point. Rap on point. Holy shit. AND THEIR DANCING??? BRuh that’s what got me. That song was in my head for weeks. I didn’t really get into the tumblr side of fandom until January though lol. 

Individual Impressions

Chan

In the Hellevator music video he didn’t really catch my eye but when I started watching their survival show I was almost immediately drawn to him. He was and still is one of my main bias wreckers because of his fucking duality. How can someone be so equally fluffy as charismatic?! Also bring back brown haired Chan. Brown haired Chan is superior thx. Also his vocals are my favorite in Stray Kids. 

Woojin

He didn’t really catch my eye in the mv either but I always found him very distinguishable. Both his voice and facial features are unique imo and he reminds me of a big bear? Idk he strikes me as a protective figure haha. At the same time every time he shows his eye smile he immediately turns into a toddler lmao.

Minho

AHHH IM EMO. I didn’t even get to see much of him before he got eliminated :( I knew he was very good at dancing but because of snek jyp I didn’t get to think much more of him. Now he’s the dumb and beautiful prince that I adore though haha.

Changbin

LMAO. In the music video I immediately thought of Ravi from Vixx when I saw him. He reminds me so much of him both visual and rap-wise. His rap was straight fire and got me bopping every time he opened his mouth. And what the fuck he can SING??? And there’s this one moment in the YAYAYA busking when he sings and how he looks out at the audience got me in TEARS. Also another bias wrecker. 10/10 would recommend to stan. 

Hyunjin

Visuals. God. Amazing. Yeah when he showed up in the mv I was like damn boy u cute. And he can rap too what an all star. And in the survival show I just fell more in love with him holy shit. He kinda reminds me of a puppy in a way haha. AND HIS DUALITY BEATS CHAN. LIKE HOW THE FUCK WHOMST THE FUCK

Jisung

THIS FUCKING BOY. HE CAUGHT MY EYE SO MUCH IN THE MV. Like I shit you not all I could focus on was him. I literally finalized him as my bias like .2 seconds after I saw him. AND A FUCKING ACE TOOO?! His voice is also very nice. aND HIS RAP IS STRAIGHT FIRE THIS BOY IS SPITTING BARS AT 2000 WPM. Without a doubt this kid was the one that got me into Stray Kids holy shit.

Felix

Lmaoo my friend was obsessed with him. We watched the music video together and she immediately went WHO HE when he popped up. He didn’t get much screentime in hellevator so I didn’t get to think much of him but DEEP VOICE. Also his australian accent is to die for. 

Seungmin

Soft. Very soft. The fluffiest boy to ever exist. He had the best lines in hellevator and they got stuck in my head for hours at a time. Didn’t really notice him as a contender for bias list until the survival show but damn that boy climbed quick when he sang that cover of stitches. ALSO UNDERRATED AS HELL

Jeongin

I’m so terribleeeeee. But in the survival show I didn’t really like him? Idk JYP just did him so dirty that I started to not like him. I didn’t really like his voice because it sounded very forced to me. (tHESE ARE FIRST IMPRESSIONS DONT ATTACK ME PLS). I did feel rlly bad for him though since he’s so young. aND HES GLOWED UP SO MUCH MY BBY IS SHINING

my friend was really into big bang and shinee during fantastic baby days. i remember her showing me the videos and i remember being a bit freaked out by the mv. at the time i was also watching kids/teens react to by the finebros and they had an episode where the people react to kpop. i knew that my friend liked it so i watched the episode and there they reacted to snsd’s i got a boy, which really caught my attention lmao. from there i listened to them (bcos of the song and bcos of hyoyeon). then i saw exo and stuck with them before i moved on to and staying with bts around spring day era !

Some of these will not apply to many people so pls take them with a grain of salt. Also I’ve been collecting these pretty much for the two years I’ve been in college so it’s not a guide, they’re just… random I guess.

Making friends 

Warning - specially tailored for super shy people aka me

There’s a thing called the ‘first week window of endless oportunities’. It’s when groups are still forming and everyone’s desperate to make friends. This is the time to put your best self forward (I’m not saying be fake, just a little extra friendly).

Leave. Your. Door. Open. Do it. Even if you have a roommate. Best way to make friends the first week.

Actually get out of your room. You’re not going to meet many people if you hole up in your room. If you have a tv room or people are watching a movie, I don’t care if you’re not interested in what they’re watching, go.

If you have the balls to go to the room nextdoor and introduce yourself then you probably can skip this section by all means do it!

But if you don’t, going from door to door asking for help with your laundry takes a lot less courage + you will learn how to do laundry. Asking to borrow something (pencil, hair tie, hair dryer) also works.

If you’re staying at a residence hall, ask to sit with people at lunch! Nobody is going to say no, i promise.

Similarly if you see someone alone, ask them to have lunch with you! 

Also if you meet someone you get along with, as soon as you can, ask for their number ‘so you can go to the dinning hall together’. 

Remember people’s names - it makes people feel like you actually care about them. I know it’s hard but make an effort. Also it just gets annoying when someone asks about your name for the fourth time. Use mnemonics if you have to.

Asking what someone’s major is and where they’re from is standard procedure when you meet them but it doesn’t make for an interesting conversation. Think of other questions!

Make sure to arrive about 10 min early to your classes. There’ll be very few people and so it’ll be easier to strike up a conversation (actually people will probably talk to you without you having to say anything which is g r e a t)

Say yes - as a rule of thumb, your social life should prevail over your academic life the first two weeks. This is the time where you’re not really pressed for time. Say yes to watching movies, say yes to going to lunch, say yes to going to campus events (and even to parties). Obviously don’t do anything that makes you really unconfortable but do try to step out of your comfort zone

Make friends with an upper-classman from your same major. Or at least be on speaking terms. Talk to them on Facebook, ask them about your major, just use any random idc excuse to introduce yourself, it doesn’t really matter how you do it.

Don’t go home every weekend, even if you live close by. You’ll miss out on the best of campus life and some of the most fun memories with your new friends.

Keeping your old friends

If you know you’re going home for the weekend, try to finish most of your assignments/studying and make time to hang out with your friends. Spending time with them is the best way to keep those friendships alive. 

But! Don’t worry too much if you can’t come home or make time for your friends too often, you just have to make an effort to text them regularly. It will come naturally if it’s your best friend, but don’t forget to set a reminder to text other close friends at least once every two weeks.

You may think you don’t care now but you will once you come home for the summer.

If any of your friends are staying in your hometown for college, be ready for them to get another friend group. That doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about you, but don’t be mad if they seem to have a lot more plans that don’t involve you. You can always ask to tag along some time and maybe even become friends with these people!

Some people you’ll just lose contact with. Don’t fret it.

Organization

Please print out or buy a calendar that has a whole page for each month. With boxes preferably *shameless plug*. You may think you have it all under control but there’s nothing like being able to see all your due dates, hang out plans and laundry days at a glance. (Also js but the pilot frixion are perfect to use on calendars because they’re erasable).

Hampers are love. Hampers are life. Also they’re the only way your clothes won’t end up all over your floor and bed (..and chairs) so get one.

Health

Adding fruit and veggies to all your meals is very easy to do. And very easy to forget. 

If you know someone who goes for runs regularly, ask to tag along! You’ll be more likely to keep active if you have someone who’ll drag you outside!

Get a mini fridge (if your dorm doesn’t come with one). It’ll be the best investment you’ll make in your entire college life. Also make sure to check in with your roommate beforehand so tbat you don’t end up having two fridges. And ask if they want to split the cost.

Academics

You will have some crappy professors. When that happens, the solution is not to cry over your (almost inexistent) notes and complain to whatever poor soul will listen.Find your recommended books, take a trip to the library, sneakily get them online.

On that note, you can find PDFs of almost any textbooks online if you just look for ‘textbook name pdf’. Yeah it’s not legal. Neither should be charging 100€ for a textbook. Yeah it’s probably not the latest edition. But email your professor about it, they usually don’t mind.

If your copy shops refuse to print out textbooks, go early in the morning or late at almost-closing time or just at a time where there isn’t anyone else there bc they’re a lot more likely to do it (not saying they will okay but there’s no harm in asking).

If you’re not a morning person, you’re not going to go to that 8am 8/10 times so if you can avoid taking it, do. Yes, you did it in hs but believe me, it’s different

Chances are you will have at least one Ridiculous Professor (a.k.a. one whose tests ask about literally every single detail). This is why it’s a good idea to look for past tests from this professor (or just ask an upper-classman. Seriously just make friends with an upper-classman) ASAP. And then make flashcards like a mad person.

If you’re too sick to get yourself to the ER and attendance is mandatory for that class, email your professor bc most times they won’t even ask for a doctor’s note. If attendance is not mandatory, don’t even bother.

Check how much your assignments are worth. Always. Stop spending time you don’t have on shit that’s worth 5%, just turn in something.

Semesters go by a lot faster because what you learnt in hs in a year, you now have to learn in half the time. My point? Start studying early.

It doesn’t matter how amazing of a student you were in hs, get ready for your grades to drop. How much they drop depends on you.

Partying

Partying may not be your thing and nobody will force you to go out. But I’d say try it at least once (preferably during the first week). Not just because of ‘the experience’ but because you might make some friends that way (I know if I’d stayed home I never would’ve met some of my best friends in college).

You’ll probably end up having to dress up at some point. Don’t leave it until the last minute. Also ask around, group costumes are awesome and you’ll come up with something faster than if you have to think of one on your own.

On a similar note, get a box to put your costumes in! At the end of the year (or when you finish your degree?) you can go through it and remember all the awesome times you had. Also some parts of old costumes will come in handy for new costumes.

This may vary from place to place but generally heels are only for very special ocassions, not a saturday night party.

I know that for some of you it’ll be your first time drinking so some random tips:

Don’t do more than 3 shots of absinthe in one night. DO NOT DO IT CHILD

You’re probably going to have a favorite drink freshman year and you’re most likely never going to want to touch it again by the end of the year. Choose wisely (meaning don’t do vodka because you’ll grow to hate it).

Avoid wearing really dark liquid lipsticks because after just one shot they look absolutely disgusting (butthole effect).

Drinks are expensive so when possible just pre-game (also smol tip - if you want to get the most out of your alcohol, add gummy bears to your pregaming cup. Don’t fucking do this if it’s your first time drinking)

I don’t recommend puking but it’s better than a trip to the emergency room and a convenient solution if you feel like shit.

Put a bottle of water beside your bed before you go out and chug it as soon as you get home. Thank me in the morning.

Hungover lectures are torture. Don’t skip class though, go and record it (ask your professor first obviously)

Depends on how safe your city is, but as a rule of thumb, let someone know if you’re going home and preferably wait until someone else wants to leave so that you don’t have to walk home alone.

Extra

If you need to write an email to a professor do it ASAP. Don’t put it off until let’s say 3AM. Not only won’t they respond in time but they can see what time it was sent.

Turn on nofications for your school email (and if you don’t have one ffs make one). 

if your laptop is kinda crappy and slow, get a new one. That thing will become a part of your body, especially in higher years. Freshmen always think they won’t bring it to class to take notes. Ha.

Do Not DO NOT give up your hobbies - I know how overwhelming uni can be but hobbies are a part of who you are. If you erase that, only your major is left. You are not just your major so make time for your hobbies.

If you have a roommate don’t like… use the Attack on Titan opening as your alarm. It will get you a pillow to the head. Applies to any other ‘wake up time to die’ ringtones too. 

Also please don’t let you alarm go off for too long because literally everyone on your floor can hear it and that shit is annoying 

Just a suggestion but stop drinking coffee every day. That way it’ll be a lot more effective during finals week. (Drink tea instead).

Remember to not be defined by your high school self. Nobody knows that person where you’re going anyway. Is there a certain way you’ve always wanted to dress? Want to dye your hair? Want to try being that person who compliments and smiles at people? Anything you always wanted to try? Now’s the time to do it!
