I don't know. I feel like ppl use "ex dsmp fans" to describe anything they don't like in the hermitcraft space because it makes it easier for them to categorize people they don't like. Especially as it paints them as "bad" for ever being into dsmp and "ruining" precious hermitcraft with their nasty little ideas. Rather than acknowledge that maybe new audiences bring in ideas or behaviors they don't like. Or an audience can evolve.

the hermitcraft fandom has tried so hard to twist the smp into a replacement for the dsmp that they ruined the fun of hermitcraft. same goes for the life series

there's something so meta abt the dsmp's narrative theme of legacy and how, slowly but surely, a lot of the fan content that helped develop the dsmp as a piece of media is disappearing. about how many of the characters in the dsmp do not remember where they came from, at the same time posts of what helped others understand the dsmp are being deleted one by one.
