wanted to ask about asm physical volumes covers they have a lot of signs and Symbolism especially Richelieu's cover , any thoughts abt them ? i love your analysis + btw i noticed an Eagle flag behind leon in the Vol.5 cover , is that the streife flag ? and who do you think will be in the next cover ? personally i think it would be ali

sure! let's get into it! but first, for my vol. 8 cover prediction! i'm also pretty inclined to think that ali will be the next cover. he's the last one on the roster for our main cast, so it's preeeetttty likely. unless Orka throws us a fastball and gives us a Letran cover for whatever reason... (i'm nervous for the day we'll get a johannes/ludovika cover)

Annnyways! So far we've got the korean/english physical releases of ASM vol. 1-6 (7, if you include Orka's teaser for vol. 7 featuring Ohara). for the sake of the length of this post, i won't be covering the japanese edition covers (they're mostly all the same, just simpler)

i'll be deep diving below the cut! Spoiler warning! be warned! it's a lot of text! (at the least, check out my vol. 6 richelieu analysis!)

Vol. 1 features our protagonist Shuri in all of her beautiful glory! This cover is so beautifully... generic (as it was meant to be) so we don't get a lot of info but.... here's what we got

The golden lions crest: I'd like to think that the family crest is symbolic of how her newfound family will come to back her up in the first volume.

Jeremy, his siblings, and Nora: The framing of the Neuschwansteins on the left and Nora on the right is both foreshadowing to their early conflict and a way to show that they're all watching over her shoulders. Whether in judgement or in protection is what new readers will come to find out.

The peridot brooch: We all know the implications of the brooch and it's connections to Shuri's death in the 1st timeline. It's a looming warning above Shuri's head, but also behind her, just like how Shuri's death is a memory that she can't seem to shake.

The red ribbon: It's the red string of fate that links eeeeeverything together. And it's also the symbol of the Empire. The red petals are a symbol of romance and violence, something that sums up ASM quite well.

Vol. 2 features a young Nora holding his sword. This is where the fun starts and Orka sneaks in more narrative symbols. The cover is bathed in blue, Nora's key color and his family's color symbol.

Broken peridot brooch: On the leftmost frame, we see Shuri's peridot brooch shattering in a pool of blood. It's a violent red flag on an overwhelmingly blue cover. It's a direct reference to Nora's investigation of Shuri's death in the 1st timeline

Knight's armor: On the right, we have a suit of armor, stoically framed in glowing blue light. Becoming a knight for the Imperial Family is the fate for Nuremberg nobles.

Shuri's portrait: In the back is a frame of Shuri as the Spider Widow. Her head is cut off ominously, another reference to her death. There's a small spotlit corner of the portrait flickering behind Nora, like he's always thinking of her.

Blue roses: Blue roses are a mysterious symbol. Shuri also happens to meet Nora under mysterious circumstances and doesn't even learn his name until their fateful second encounter.

Vines: The wrapping vines in the background are a fairytale symbol for danger and fate.

Overall, my take here is that Nora must choose between the three framing elements, aka Streife (the Brooch), Love (Shuri), or Family (Nuremberg Knights). Shuri was never a choice for him in the 1st timeline, but her ending isn't over just yet! So maybe Nora will finally get to explore his 3rd choice.

Vol. 3 features Jeremy in a much simpler setting. This volume is almost completely centric around Jeremy's trial and the cover reflects that. His pose centers focus on his right hand (the hand he almost lost) as he unsheathes his sword.

Chains: Jeremy's imprisonment. that's it

Golden Lions and the Peridot: We've gone over this. If you see a peridot, it means Shuri. She's what is holding together the Neuschwanstein estate.

Shuri and Johannes: There are two silhouetted busts of the current and former head of the Estate. Johannes, in white, has passed on his burdens while Shuri, in black, inherited the burdens of the estate. The Neuschwanstein manor is overlayed on top of the two, as the real subject at stake during the trial.

Lilies: White lilies symbolize purity and rebirth. Jeremy believed he would lose his hand that day, and knowing that Shuri was going to sacrifice herself for him was Jeremy's rebirth. The trial was reshaped the trajectory of Jeremy's entire life, which had been written from birth.

Vol. 4 features Elias and the twins. From this point forward, I don't own any of the physical volume copies, so I can't be 100% certain about it's contents... but it's a bright cover for a new season and kicks off new arcs and new characters, but i'm not sure if it includes the epilogues.

Golden lions crest: of course we can't be without the crest again. I don't think it needs any more explaining.

Streife: The eagle on the left is the Streife symbol, the Empire's secret police force. It may be in reference to Streife reporting Shuri's death but i'm honestly not sure of the relevance here, especially when i don't know which chapters are in this volume.

Golden amulet and Safavid: On the right we have a golden amulet hovering over a bird's eye view of Safavid. It's a little teaser for when we finally get Ali's first appearance

Devil's trumpet and bellflowers: The white devils trumpet flower symbolizes danger and power while the bellflower symbolizes calm. You could say that it's the calm before the storm. Season 2 introduces itself with Leon returning from boarding school. Everything seems happy and cool until Shuri reminds us that political strife has risen over the 3 year timeskip.

Vol. 5 features Theo in a sinister red, gold, and purple palette. I should note that the Japanese releases are behind from the Korean/English releases. Specifically, Vol. 5 includes the missing epilogue episodes that were not included in Vol. 4. However, the Guardian arc and the Family Trip arc (included in Vol. 3 of the english release) are included in the Japanese version of Vol. 5. TLDR, I'm not sure which arcs are included in the official Korean/English Vol. 5 volume.

Violet roses: The violet roses are a symbol of Theo's mother, Ludovika. In the Japanese version, Theo's childhood flashback appears in this volume and we get some insight on Ludovika.

Mirrors and Richelieu: There's a strangeness in the way Richelieu, who appears a surprising 6 times, faces away from the audience. Mirrors should mean self-reflection, but Richelieu faces away from the mirrors. He's so focused on enforcing his beliefs on others and in the process, becomes the greatest sinner. He's aware of this, but he doesn't seem to care.

Cherubs: Two twin cherubs frame Theo, as they seem ready to stab him with their arrows.By season 2, Theo has already fallen for Shuri, in a toxic obsessive love.

Upside down crown: A flipped crown can mean a lack of authority or a change in power. Richelieu manipulating Theo strips away Theo's power as a royal. It also foreshadows Theo's depleting support pillars (Nuremberg and Neuschwanstein)

Vol. 6 features a young Richelieu. Like Vol. 5, the Japanese volume contains the flashbacks of Richelieu's past, which is the only main moment we see a young Richelieu. Anyway, there's a lot here.

Richelieu: This exact depiction of young Richelieu never actually appears in the manhwa (his forehead is bandaged, not his eyes). But there is significance in him being "half blind." Not to mention, there's a huge glowing iris on fire behind him.

There's a saying "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king." It's about a seeing man who comes across a town of blind men. He attempts to preach his seeing knowledge to the town, knowing that he is a tier above the people. However, the town cannot understand the meaning of sight and peck out his eyes, because after all, "the king must be of his people." Richelieu's seeing eye (in the background) is going up in flames in the same way. Richelieu literally calls himself a "king" in his youth, fully aware that he is cut from a different cloth. On the cover, he sits on a throne with a divine halo behind his head. Exemplary of how he feels "chosen" by God to strike punishment onto sinners. There's even meaning in the way he is holding his book. In art history, hands on a book in this specific manner is an allegory for great power in knowledge (think Aristotle).

Wolffe: I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure of Wolffe's significance in the cover, but wherever Richelieu is, Wolffe follows.

Apple: Another symbol of knowledge. Adam's first sin was eating the fruit (apple) of knowledge.

Raven: Ravens are a symbol of transformation, prophecy, and intelligence. I've gone further into Richelieu and his connections with ravens here!

Windows: The windows in the background reference Richelieu's divine awakening. To the moment he woke up from his coma after drowning and the window light shone onto the church pendant on the wall.

Bubbles: The bubbles reference his drowning and eventual "rebirth."

Dogwood Leaves and Thorns: The red leaves can be likened to blood, sure. But did you know it's believed that the Cross of Jesus Christ was made of Dogwood? Richelieu believes his self-flagellation is a form of early repentance for his future sins.

The Vol. 7 teaser features Ohara, but it's highly filtered (for good reason) but we can soooorta only make out some things. There's a jewel? and what looks like Jeremy? I can't say much yet, but let me know what you think?

Tank angst is everything to me and I will never stop writing it. The tattoos!! I stand by Tank having a lot of tattoos, and in my brain they for sure have a bunch more than I described, but I just went for the ones that were important for plot reasons. The idea that they would let Quinn carve them up with a tattoo machine is DELICIOUS. I’m glad you liked that line about the scar! I’m particularly proud of that one. Angel in general thinks in very romantic, flowery language about everyone around them and so they can see the romance in a scar like that, even if it’s tragic.

THEY REALLY DO CRAB ANON THEY LOVE EACH OTHER THEYRE JUST BOTH EMOTIONALLY REPRESSED!! Angel is working on David, but the David Tank knew is a pre-Angel one, and idk if you’ve ever run into somebody you haven’t seen in a long time, but I find people revert back to who they were when they were together last, at least for a little while. I think David and Darlin are super similar, and they make each other brace for the worst parts of themselves. Eventually, David will reach out a hand in kindness. Eventually, Tank will take it.

Again, THEY ARE SO SIMILAR!! The self sacrifice of the well meaning can take many many forms!!!

I stand by Angel being incredibly capable, with and without David. THEY DESERVE TO TAKE CARE OF HIM!! HE DESERVES TO BE TAKEN CARE OF!!!

You had known Jake was fronting by the way he’d slammed the door that morning. He didn’t usually take time to cuddle you, like the other two, when first waking up. Jake also always notoriously left the toilet seat up after pissing in the morning. Steven and Marc were a little more considerate.

It had been a long time since Jake was fronting, so you decided to surprise him when he got home. You knew he liked Mexican food, so you pulled together some of his favorites. You also knew his favorite movie, so got that prepared too. Finally, he had this one dress that he commented on one time when fronting that he loved to see you in.

“Wow, bebita, you are the most beautiful thing, how’d we get so lucky?” 

When he got home that night, his brow was furrowed, as it often was, but you felt the air clear as soon as he saw you and his face softened. A smirk slid over his lips.

“Is that…” he walked toward the kitchen.

“Si, I made your favorite.” You smiled at him widely.

He leaned over and kissed you softly. He hummed when your lips separated.

“You remembered my favorite food.” He said it as more of a statement than a question.

You looked at him incredulously, “of course I did baby, I always remember all of your favorites.”

You pressed a hand to his cheek gently. Jake didn’t show his emotion often, not with tears or words, but you’d learned his facial expressions. When his lips turned into a hard line, brows smoothed and eyes looked at you affectionately, you knew he was feeling softer than usual.

“I don’t deserve all this, cariño.” He said, never tearing his eyes from yours.

“Why would you say that? Of course you do, I love you.”

He shook his head, “I’m dangerous, I’ve done some terrible things bebita, I don’t deserve your kindness. They do, but not me.”

You brushed your thumb over his stubbled cheek gently. He leaned into it, craving your touch. He grabbed your hand in his leather gloved fingers.

“Jake, I’ve never felt so safe with anyone.” You said in almost a whisper.

Jake let out a quiet chuckle and turned his head to kiss your palm.

“What?” You asked, furrowing your brow.

“The boys are a little offended.” A smile spread over his face.

It was always people getting mad at Dazai.

From minor inconveniences that he creates to the downright risky and dangerous choices that he makes on missions (even if it does work out in the end). He was always the one that people get frustrated and aggravated with, even if it wasn’t serious half of the time.

You never thought it would be the other way around.

And you never thought you would find yourself on the receiving end with him glaring at you.

It was already tense in the room, and as much as you wanted to believe you could still hold your head high to face him, it was a bit hard to do.

You don’t think you’ve ever seen Dazai mad before- sure, you’ve seen when his irritation would slip through the cracks of his playfulness and when he gets serious, but not actually angry. It was an unfamiliar sight, and the longer he stood there, the more you started to squirm under his stare.

You felt small underneath his gaze, like a child standing in front of their disappointed parents. But you weren’t scared or embarrassed- if anything, it was causing your own anger to flare up.

“Wait- are you seriously upset with me right now?” Crossing your arms, you tried to keep your emotions in check, it was hard if you guessed the reason why he’s upset- it’s not like Dazai’s an open book and wash to read, no matter how close you’ve gotten lately.

But all he did was keep his hard stare on you, scoffing. “I don’t even know why I even bother-“

“Why you even bother- excuse me? Bother with what- me?”

The silence was enough for an answer, and enough for you anger to boil over.

“You know what your issue is Osamu? You don’t know how to communicate- you just run away from every single problem and then pop back up when it’s convenient for you, leaving the people you so call care about to pick up the pieces of the mess you left.”

You saw his eyes narrow and the petty side of you hoped that you struck a nerve.

“How is that fair to anyone? You just abandon them and then decide to come back when you’re ready to come back. And then you don’t even try to solve it- you just flash a fake smile and try to push everything under the rug like it’s already been handled when it wasn’t!“

Now you were raising your voice, fingers balling up into fists as you finally let out all of your pent up frustrations and emotions.

“And then you don’t even let me try- you don’t even try to let me in to help!” You stepped closer to him, and you missed how tense he was getting. “I got to a point where I thought I was finally getting somewhere,” you let out a dry laugh, shaking your head. “But I wasn’t, of course I wasn’t.”

The late nights leaving the office together, the soft glances he would give you, the gentle touches between you both- all of your shared moments ran through your mind, causing a sense of dread to fill you. Did those mean nothing to him? We’re you just there to pass time for him? Just a placeholder until he gets bored and moves on to someone else?

Even as you stand here and pour your heart out, all Dazai could do was stare.

Your chest was starting to get tight, voice cracking, “You’re just- do I even mean anything to you?”

He called out your name before you cut him off.

“Do I?” It came out as a whisper, and the silence afterwards was deafening.

His breath hitched and his eyes widened a bit, fingers twitching before being balled up at his side.

Something wet trailed down your cheek, and it was just then that you realized you were crying. You wanted to stop, but the thought of knowing that you didn’t mean anything to Dazai weighed on you heavily. It became nearly impossible to choke your sobs back.

“I care about you so much and it’s like I get nothing in return. It’s just- you’re so damn selfish Osamu!”

You cursed at yourself for being so vulnerable like this, but you couldn’t help it. Everything you were feeling came out all at once, and you were unable to hold it back anymore.

Was he even feeling anything now-

Something pulled you forward and you found yourself surrounded by warmth. It didn’t register that you were in Dazai’s arms as he gently pulled you against his chest.

You tried to tilt your head to meet his gaze, but he just pressed you closer.

“I care about you more than you’ll ever realize.”

You felt his chest rumble from his words. It came out quiet, but sincere. It only made you cry harder honestly, but you felt a sense of genuine comfort from him that’s been lacking for some time.

And Dazai knows it- he knows that he’s not a comforting person. He’s never been known to bring anyone a sense of comfort- only pain and despair, as dramatic as it sounds. He’s ruined lives, his hands are coated with blood that will never wash off, and he’s sure that he’s destined for hell once his time is up.

He deserves it though, he believes. He doesn’t deserve the peace that you bring him, he doesn’t deserve you. You made his time on this earth a bit bearable, and he doesn’t deserve that after everything that he’s done. And that alone made him even more worried about losing you.

But you were right about him being selfish. As much as he wants to end his life, he wants to indulge in you for as long as he can before he’s successful. It’s hard for him to be vulnerable- the only time he could be was when speaking to his dear friend, whether at their cherished bar or now at his tombstone.

But Dazai still didn’t want to lose you. He wanted you to know how much you meant to him before he passes on. The time that he’s finally ready to open up won’t come anytime soon or would be easy to do, but he hopes that one day he’ll be able to bear his sins and all to you.

But for now, he’ll simply hold you to remind you of how much you mean to him.

Unpopular opinion time! There is only a fine line separating romcoms from buddy comedies, given as they both use fairly similar structures, tropes & plot beats.

If you refuse to learn anything abt romcoms because you think Romance is beneath you, and you write a buddy comedy, the chances are very high that you will not be able to see where the line is and you will trample all over it accidentally. If that occurs you have no one to blame but yourself when people helpfully point out that you have stretched buddy comedy canvas over a Romance structure and therefore, to any casual observer, your film looks a hell of a lot like a Romance that is only missing a few superficial elements because someone put the wrong fabric on top.

It’s a bit awkward on close up observation because the fabric was meant for a slightly differently shape structure. If you don’t stretch it enough the scaffolding will show at the edge (an obvious gap — a missing element that should have been covered). Stretch too much, and the scaffolding is now in danger of poking through (it will show even if you try to hide it and its pulling taunt every other anchor points, distorting them with uneven, unresolved tension).

You could go back to the store and get more appropriate canvas (fairly easy), or a different structure (harder because you have to take the whole thing down and start over, rebuild the story from the ground up). But you won’t do that, won’t you? Those silly Romance people live all the way over there, and you never bothered to learn the subtle differences in the story structures you use. You haven’t even noticed yet that you accidentally used theirs, instead of the one you had planned for. You’re about to get rained on and you’ll wonder the entire time why your feet are wet, you arrogant dingus. (This is not vagueblogging at anything specific btw, just a general observation.)

so basically in this au, everything is prettyyy much the same except that aren is a merman..

after his meeting with kusuo, it becomes painfully obvious that kusuo doesnt belong there but aren still thinks hes just a cool foreign mermaid.. but he keeps asking so many questions about where hes from and kusuo is already in so much shock he cant keep up the act anymore and tells him hes from the land.. (he probably couldve just told him to leave him alone, but truth be told he had a hot merman right in front of him and he literally just found out mermaids exist ??? so why would he do that)

so after learning kusuos secret (which wasnt explained in full, he really just said he has powers and aren thinks its some sort of secret human magic) he begs him to give him human legs, and kusuo has to explain that he cant use his shapeshifting ability on other people, and the only similar thing is hypnosis, which wouldnt work.. SO kuboyasu introduces him to mermaid magic !! which isnt all that powerful at all.. they just have certain minor spells, charms, and incantations that can have small effects.. so they work together and find a way to make his shapeshifting ability work on kuboyasu!! maybe its a thing similar to saikis limiters, but its like a pendant or a pair of earrings infused with a combination of magic+kusuos powers+technology

and soooooo he transfers to PK!! (with kusuos genius+mind control, its easy to cook up a fake ID+birth certificate and all) and everything else is pretty much the same, including even how kusuo attempts to ignore him at school at first+then spies on him without his knowledge.. but theyre also secretly romancing each other outside of school hours in the literal ocean..

it definitely took a while for kusuo to trust him enough to take him on land btw so they also spent a lot of time in arens home but i havent put much thought into what/where exactly that is or about his family and mermaid friends and such..

either way, even when he trusts him, aren still messes up and almost spills various secrets a lot lmao.. it shouldn't be that hard because hes been told his whole life that humans were dangerous because they couldnt handle things they didnt understand (like.. magic) but somehow he still manages to slip up many times on BOTH of their secrets (good thing their friends are DUMB)

1- Who is the person they would go to for advice when it comes to either romance or other problems in life?

Rosabelle: Probably Casey, they’re kind of the parent of their group of trainees, and a bunch of trainees that aren’t in their group as well.

Everest: Casey, definitely, they’re basically a parent figure to a lot of trainees.

Azure: Probably Casey, or Harper. Casey’s the parent figure to a lot of people, including me, but Harper has a husband, I heard that she and her husband don’t have the greatest relationship but still.

Casey: Probably Harper, she has a husband so I think she’d be pretty helpful, at least with advice for relationships.

Harper: Casey, they’re much better at whatever I might need advice for, like how to get the trainees to get out of bed in the morning.

2- What kind of music do they listen to or like to listen to in the distance if ever?

Rosabelle: Rock, punk, or any kind of alternative music, I think it’s better than, like, classical or country music, those are kind of boring if I’m honest.

Everest: Pop music, maybe, or just any sort of upbeat music. It helps me feel more energetic during training.

Azure: I don’t really listen to music, but I’m willing to listen to any kind of music if someone plays it or if anyone recommends a song.

Casey: I like a lot of sort of upbeat music, not for any specific reason, I just kind of do.

Harper: I don’t really listen to music, but if I had to choose a kind of music, then I’d choose classical, or any sort of older music genres similar.

3- What would be the first thing they do if danger suddenly comes to them? Do they run? Do they freeze in panic? Do they use their magic?

Rosabelle: Fight, definitely. Unless it’s a wild animal, then I’d just avoid it or scare it away.

Everest: Fight and make sure anyone else with me is okay, but if it’s some wild animal or anything I’d just leave it alone.

Azure: I’d let others deal with it, but if it’s a wild animal I’d try to calm it down or I’d just leave it alone.

Casey: Let others deal with it, I’d just make sure that everyone is okay

Harper: Fight, but mostly let others deal with it and make sure that everyone is fine afterwards.

I just finished Sarah J. Maas' A Court of Thorns & Rose's series. I also have The Witcher on my To Read list. I LOVE fantasy. Definitely getting on the fantasy romance train lately, but Lord of the Rings is still one of my all-time favorite books. I do enjoy mysteries too.

OKAY SO LET US SEE!!! Fantasy is SUCH a vibe and its hard to find the good ones BUT:

Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. It's the second trilogy to her fantasy world, but trust me you don't need the first series; there's just some characters from the past who make a new appearance as side characters or leads! The story follows dear silly Evangeline as she navigates the world of heartbreak :( In her world, the Fates (magical beings that are known to be cruel, evil, and harsh and give very very heavy Tarot card energy!!!) have come back and are residing in their own magical kingdom of trouble and deception (TRUST ME AS CLICHE AS THIS BOOK SOUNDS ITS LITERALLY SO FREAKING GOOD.). Evangeline ends up praying to one of these Fates - Jacks, the Prince of Hearts - to help her save her lover from what she thinks is a curse. Of course Evangeline doesn't care for the consequences of asking a Fate for a favour, but Jacks is literally the biggest shithead ever (affectionate) so he puts that poor girl through SO MUCH FREAKING TROUBLE and Evangeline finds herself travelling to the magical land of fairytales to try and win over the heart of a prince. FAIRYTALE ENERGY EXCEPT ITS KIND OF TWISTED FAIRYTALES!!! AND ITS NOT LIKE YOUR USUAL FAIRYTALES NO NO THIS IS ITS WHOLE OWN LORE !!! BEAUTIFUL AESTHETIC AND THE PLOT IS LITRALLY THE BEST OF VIBES EVER !!!!!!!!!!!! Trust if you enjoyed SJM's work, you WILL enjoy Stephanie Garber; it's a given. (This IS fantasy romance btw, just not as heavy as some other ones!! The romance is def a smaller subplot and is very...will they won't they with some love triangles in the way)

We Hunt The Flame by Hafsa Faizal. This one is also one you'd enjoy if you enjoyed SJM's work!!! It follows the story of a girl named Zafira who hunts in this big cursed forest to try and save her village from famine. She's known as The Hunter, wanted by the sultan for multiple acts of treason, and one of the most feared "entities" of the area; anyone who goes into those wicked forests is insane and probably dangerous (SHE"S JUST A SILLY GIRL.) The kingdom is ruled by a horrible, corrupt sultan and the land has been drained of all it's magic and left as nothing but a dark, twisted land. On the flip side of the coin, you have the sultan's son, Nasir, who is overflowing with trauma, daddy issues, and OOZES dark mysterious morally questionable man !!!!!! He's the kingdom assassin and does all his father's bidding. Nasir's father hears word that the Hunter had been assigned a mission to go find the tombs of the old Witches (who had given the land its powers, and then taken them away to be buried with) from this dark evil island of sorts. He naturally orders Nasir to go find this Hunter, let him lead him to this tomb, and then kill the Hunter (naturally everyone thinks this Hunter is a big scary dude when it is nothing but a like 5'5 girl with fury that rivals that of the gods). Anyway, when Nasir and Zafira get there and realise what this is, things start....going downhill (uphill for ME) FOUND FAMILY AND ENEMIES TO LOVERS AND FANTASY LORE AND AND AND AND WOW WOWO WOW IM SO BAD AT SUMMARIZING THEM WITHOUT GIVING AWAY ALL THE PLOT BUT TRUST ME TRUST ME. Zafira & Nasir get the PERFECT enemies to lovers!!!! SO MUCH FOUND FAMILY (there's other people who ended up coming to this island to find this tomb and they all just get together in a team of misfits). PLOT TWISTS AND WOWO WOWOW WOW SO MUCH ARABIAN LORE !!!YEah. Trust me trust me. If you've read like, Six of Crows, you'd like this.

okay i swear there would usually be more but these are the ones I truly think you should give a shot too, i SWEAR TO GOD they are. SO. SO SO GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might also enjoy Fourth Wing, it's become very popular alongside SJM's books, but I hear the second book has gotten sooo bad and honestly, I personally only enjoyed the first book because it was very character based, full vibes/worldbuilding, very little plot. So if you're looking for plot heavy fantasy, I wouldn't go with Fourth Wing.

if you're also into historical fantasy with some sci-fi elements, or retellings, then def check out Chloe Gong...her Secret Shanghai series (Two duologies and 2 novellas) is SO SO GOOD!!! Shakespeare retellings, spies and betrayals and gangs and fake dating and enemies to lovers and lots of political and historical elements (the books take place in a big time of unease in Shanghai where foreign politics and goverments are trying to take over. The first duology is Romeo & Juliette retelling with the gov being the two rivalling gangs and a horrifying disease that is running wild through the land. The gangs eventually get taken down as Nationalists, Communists and Japanese forces start taking over Shanghai. The SECOND duology is centered around the power struggle between the Communist and Nationalists, with the Japanese invasion that is inevitable. The main leads are split into 2 couples; 1 works with the Nationalists (fake dating, undercover spies), the other works with the Communists (partners to lovers "I would ruin our mission to save you" energy). The second duology is very very traumatising. These series are fantasy but ALSO mystery based. I personally liked the second duology better (Foul Lady Fortune & Foul Heart Huntsman)

For full full mystery vibes, The Inheritance Games IS your jam. OH MY GOD I will never shut up about this series and this post is ALREADY too long so I won't go into details BUT basically. Avery Grambs gets told she just inherited something like 47 million dollars or whatever from some random old man from Texas whom she has NEVER EVEN heard of. Billion maybe. she got a LOT LOT of money okay. The only thing she has to do to secure that money? Live in Hawthorne House (his manor) for 1 year with his 4 grandchildren. No biggie right? Except said grandchildren happen to be some of the SMARTEST TRICKIEST and most TROUBLED KIDS to ever exist in the world. Grayson, Jameson, Xander & Nash. Nash is a cowboy who ditched the rich life and would die to protect Avery. Xander is just glad he has someone to have fun with because she enables all his crazy ideas. Jameson loves getting under her skin and is low key in love with her. Grayson wants to get her OUT of their lives because he refuses to believe his grandfather would give this RANDOM GIRL on the street their whole inheritance; the house the business the family name all that money!! Not when Grayson was promised all of it. Anyway, Avery becomes the world's richest teenager in less than 24 hours. But, the longer Avery stays in this house and living this lifestyle, the more she realises how much the late Hawthorne was hiding. Tobias Hawthorne (the dead grandpa) was infamously known for his puzzles and mysteries and games...it's how he raised his grandkids and why they are they are they are. Except...things are getting a LITTLE TOO REAL. ‌Tighnari is a great parent tho. It's almost like he was born to take care of others. His nurturing and caring but slightly firm nature makes him the best at it.

‌You better like bland food btw. His senses are way too sharp for him to be able to handle anything that is too "spicy". So when he's in breakfast duty it's not gonna be very uh... remarkable. It's not like his food is tasteless, it's just that it's all very light and suave.

‌The kids prefer when you cook tbh but you do have to take in account how they're also fennecs so it can be overwhelming for them if you don't balance seasonings properly.

‌They're kinda clingy btw. It's not like you're complaining though! More often than not you have 3 adorable little foxes cuddling up to you to have their nap time. Sometimes Tighnari joins too.

‌This man suffers of a very intense case of "resting bitch face". It's incredibly funny to see how his attitude changes in an entire 180 when he's around people he likes or trusts, specially your family.

‌ Ever since he learned that he was going to be a father Cyno has been slightly worried about it. What if...he ends up scaring them? Such concerns would always plague his mind, it's not like he's trying to be scary! It's just...his eyes are razor sharp and there isn't anything he can do about that. He was very much born with this face.

‌So you kinda have to reassure him. Cupping his face and slowly peppering kisses all over it you say it's going to be ok. There's no way the baby would think he's scary, it would probably be happy to see him instead.

‌Kinda made him feel better(not completely but enough to stop looking like he was about to commit a murder due to how much he's been frowning in worry).

‌The general mahamatra is essentially a very caring dad(maybe overprotective). Obviously, is part of the fathers in this list who aren't there as much as they wished they could be, however, he makes up for it in affection and spending quality time.

‌He loves holding his daughter to his chest. Cyno doesn't know why exactly, it just feels right and cozy. And judging by her expression she seems to like it too, as she seems to nuzzle him chasing his warmth.

‌Also just like scara, touch a single hair on this child's head wrong and you are losing that hand. With no warning! Your lost arm IS the warning.

‌Is very adamant about sharing workload. He knows he isn't home often so when he is, cyno takes over some chores and watches his baby so you can rest or so you can be free so you three can eventually enjoy being together.

You do the same a couple trees to his left, fighting. There’s a weird titan between the two of you, and Levi cannot predice its movements. He seems to be interested in you, but at the same time, he looks at Levi, as if he was about to attack him.

Unfortunately, you were it’s prey.

The titan runs towards you, his mouth open and his hands ready to catch you. You didn’t see him coming, you were too centered on the one you were attacking. The titan caught you off guard, taking one of the strings of your ODMS, making you scream. Levi hears that.

“Y/N!” He goes as fast as he cans near the titan, seeing your blades moving fast towards the enormous hand that was about to cage you. He kills the titan you were trying to kill, the one that had his mouth ready to eat you from his colleague’s hands. Then, he turns over himself, attacking the other one’s neck, the one that is squeezing your body so hard that you’re even screaming of pain. He never saw you screaming of pain. Never.

That’s when he realized how you’re suffering. You feel how the hand around you loses all strength and you fall. You fall because your body feels weakened. okie- so I was thinking about the Inazuman tour guide prompt I made, and I kinda wanted to make a fanfic abt it. But a larger one, a lot of chapters. It would have a baseline story and then sort out into different romance routes with different characters.
