I love research and analysis, and tracking down the Bad Buddy filming locations was especially fulfilling because it combined the opportunity for me to exercise my bloodhound instincts and also find out more about this show that I love so much. (The locations were not very well-credited in the original BBS, unlike later GMMTV offerings, so it was very satisfying hunting down mystery BBS locales based almost solely on visual clues.) I've got almost the whole list of BBS locations now, although I've yet to post the last few (which are minor locations only).

So I'm very proud of the work I've done on identifying the BBS filming locations – and also a little alarmed at how powerful Google plus a bit of logical deduction can be.

Stay safe on the Internet people! Don't ever reveal too much private information about yourself, because my time doing this and other location posts has shown me that online info can all be tracked down and consolidated to identify what might have seemed to be pretty well-hidden at the start. Which bodes ominously for privacy and safety, online or off. 👀

It's not just about how well the dialogue was written, or how well Ohm and Nanon brought the scene to life. Part of why this post is special to me is because the scene demonstrates how well-crafted BBS actually is, with an underlying logic and consistency that holds up no matter how hard you prod and poke at it (which, for the record, wasn't quite the case for OS2 x BBS). When you can analyze the characters, their actions and reactions in-depth as though they are real people with real motivations, and no inauthenticity shows through, you know there's been a whole lot of deep-rooted work sunk into it. I'm still in awe of what Khun Noppharnach has wrought. 👀

But there's another reason why this post is also one of my faves, and it's rather more personal.

It's because this Ask is the first one where @pandasmagorica lifted the Anon veil to use his own Tumblr name. And that was when I felt I'd made a new friend right here on Tumblr. 😍 I'm actually quite reticent in real-life, so I don't make friends easily – but I do treasure the friendships I have once made (even though I can be pretty bad at staying in touch; doesn't mean the feelings aren't there still – far from it). I'd learnt to recognize @pandasmagorica's voice even when his Asks were anonymous, and this particular Ask made my heart swell with happiness. So even though we haven't communicated directly in some time, dear @pandasmagorica, please know that you're still a treasured friend to me! 💖

Screenwriter/director Waa Waasuthep Ketpetch really piled on the magic into this one scene. It was fun to pick it apart and look at all the different elements, within what was otherwise an only somewhat complex and not too challenging series (that still managed to be highly entertaining nonetheless). 😍

My MOST POPULAR POST and my FAVORITE POST are one and the same, which was an apology to any legitimate Tumblr user I might have blocked (as we were facing yet another onslaught of porn bots with believable names suddenly following our Tumblr blogs):

I then got a few snarky comments (from people whose names I didn't recognize) letting me know that people whom I've blocked can't read the post. 😮

But that's not exactly true (this is Tumblr after all). 🤣

I've since found out that if you've been blocked, you can still view the blog that blocked you, as long as you read it in blog view but not dashboard view.

If you've been blocked, here are some salient points to know:

You can't search for that blog on Tumblr (but Tumblr's search function is pretty much rubbish anyway, and you can still find the blog with a Google search).

If you know the name of the blog, then typing the URL (in the address bar) using blog view format (as opposed to dashboard view format) will still bring you there. For the difference between blog view and dashboard view (using my own Tumblr as an example) – typing telomeke.tumblr.com into the address bar will take you to my Tumblr in blog view, while typing tumblr.com/telomeke into the address bar will open my blog in dashboard view. You can still view my Archive (if I haven't hidden it) and read my posts, even if I've blocked you.

This one should be obvious – you can't like, comment on or reblog any of a blog's posts if that blog has blocked you. You can't DM that blog either. You can send Asks, but they will not be received. And that's part of the delicious irony that Tumblr bestows if you block any hater troll from your blog – you can continue posting everything that set them off in the first place, and they will still be able to see it, but they can no longer send any negativity your way. (You can also troll them back with impunity, but why waste precious time and energy like that? You won't know if they've seen your trolling, just that they can. 🤷‍♂️)

Asking to be unblocked is a bit trickier if you've been mistaken for a bot and inadvertently blocked. You'll need to ask a friend with a Tumblr account to request the unblocking on your behalf, or you'll need to set up a new Tumblr account just to send in this new Ask/message.

Anyway, the point of my post above was to let newbies know how important it is to humanize your blog, so as not to be mistaken for a bot and blocked – it would be especially rueful if the blog that blocked you (thinking you were a bot) was one you followed because you liked the content in there!

Because BBS is extremely self-referential, part of me now thinks they kept so much of PatPran's sex life under wraps in order to squeak by the ratings – this is what the cookout scene with Junior in Ep.11 seems to be telling us, IMO.

And they succeeded in getting a 13+ age rating, allowing Bad Buddy's message about LGBTQ+ positivity and growing into your authentic queer self to reach exactly the audience demographic that needs it (and of course even beyond them too 😊).

Podfics first: It's gotta be Going Platinum by @cricketnationrise. It's by FAR the longest solo project I've done (I think there's one posted podfic and one work in progress that I might have more audio minutes on, both as a narrator for a multi-voice project, but I didn't have to edit that shit so it's not my problem 🤣) and for some batshit insane reason I decided to do soundscaping/sound effects for the first time??? But I LOVED how it came out, and I was exceptionally proud of myself for keeping it a secret from cricket because that was HARD. (And yes I WILL be recording parts two and three!)

Schitt's Creek fic: Time until the end of time, the afterlife fic @ships-to-sail and I co-wrote over TWO YEARS and, not to toot our own horns, but the fandom at large slept on it 😅 It's amazing, actually.

RWRB fic: This one's brutal. It's almost Much Ado, and idk maybe it should be Much Ado, but I actually think it's Like loving the stars themselves aka the Doctor Who AU. Also a little bit slept on, actually, but not to the same extent as above 🤣 I am phenomenally proud of this one. The genre was way outside my usual comfort zone and I think this fic is the best example of the way I love to write media AUs -- the story bent to fit the characters, so it's very much an Alex And Henry Story, but there are little pieces of DW canon, RWRB canon, and something that's entirely my own.

There are so many, honestly, but Alex's slightly hysterical thought about wanting to send whoever taught Henry to suck cock a gift basket is so, so fucking important to me for an array of Overthinking/Over-identifying Reasons. Also it's just funny as hell. I was very proud of getting a different version of it into chapter two of the arranged marriage AU, actually; I think that bit in particular is one of the funnier things I've written.

Not as hungry actually, i used no cal juice to suppress everything. Also did some research. At 24 hours your body goes into ketosis and you may lack an appetite. Its actually one of the signs your body is in ketosis:)!. So i keep telling myself, after that, i wont be as hungry🥰 AND then tomorrow, its just whatever i did today. But with less of an appetite. So this alll seems so easy. Ill keep an update.

Ok so, I initially was actually kind of confused by these characters. Like, I felt the ✨brio energy✨ and all that, but I think much like Beth, I didn’t take Rio seriously in his attraction to Beth until basically the moment he followed her into that bathroom. And maybe this is my own social immaturity. Because I’m so bad at reading sexual intent on people! But it always felt a little patronizing to me, until his mouth gaped open as he finally touched that booty. And idk why I ever doubted it. Because look at her. Beth is Christina-fucking-Hendricks. Like, of COURSE Rio would want her. Idk why my brain was broken for a minute there. But once I saw it on him, I couldn’t unsee it. That vulnerability he had that she brought out in him in all the wrong ways. I’m embarrassed to say that I started really really paying attention to character nuance only once Brio had sex. Up until then I watched pretty casually and never quite believed anything would happen between them. But once it did, I knew Rio would be a man with no self control. That’s when I started seeing all his motivations as being a lot more desperate and a lot more rooted in his own personal loss of innocence and insecurities about who he is as a person. I’ve clearly done a whole ton of overthinking about these characters since that initial watch oh so long ago. So for me, Rio went from someone who was just bored and toying with a new and interesting puzzle, to a lonely and sensitive man who really struggled with reconciling his identity with the type of life he felt he was destined to live out. I wish I could watch it all again for the first time to see how I would interpret it all now.

With Birthdaymassacre I like it because they fit really well together, but in a way that canon tells you to shoot dead in your backyard, you know? Beyond being obsessed with Naomi because she's so headstrong, so committed, such a good detective (wonder where that complex came from)—someone he can clash against on equal ground. He spent so long chasing L's shadow and trying to pull A up out of the ground, both too obsessed and too far ahead of everyone else at Wammy's to relate to them and too far behind L to ever catch up, and spending his "rivalry" with A falling in love with her and trying to keep her from spiraling out completely; he's never had a true, honest rival to go against and I think it's something that Wammy's has always made him crave. He also wants to kiss her really bad but as his experience with A taught him that doesn't have to be a bad thing ;3

I prefer a BB that doesn't look exactly like L—tons of makeup instead of plastic surgery or spontaneous twins I suppose—because despite Beyond's complex I like it to be really clear that he's his own person. Him and Naomi both actually; her separation from Raye is very important to me! Through violent means (B) if necessary ^w^ Naomi discovering her penchant for darkness and domination through Beyond when before she kept trying to fit into the mold of Perfect Submissive Housewife is something that can be so so special 🙏

For Terraito I'm partial to human(ish) Ryuk, but that's not a requirement. I like it when he and Light are so tangled up with each other that it's difficult to separate them even if neither of them are particularly sappy or romantic about it. Ryuk being Light's malotype is my favorite thing in the world 🥰 Everything wrong with Light that he hides away comes out shamelessly in Ryuk, and Light both resents and clings to him for it, while Ryuk is so so obsessed with Light, so fascinated and intrigued by him, and he very much wants to make him worse. Don't You Just Wanna Go Apeshit?™ Anything where Ryuk is egging Light on, turning him into a deviant but only through Light's own unearthed desires—THAT'S the shit. And Ryuk becoming like a second limb, a symbiotic parasite, clinging to Light because he's such a good source of entertainment, because Ryuk is shameless in how much he wants Light but is also so laissez-faire about it that it's not romantic at all, that's also really really nice ❤️‍🔥

I have some more concrete ideas, but if this is enough for you to come up with some of your own, go for it! I'll put these under the cut bc they're a bit long and have some troublesome subject matters ✨

I really like the idea of an L-wins AU with L not wanting to kill Light if he wins because they've become friends, so he tries to go the route of just erasing Light's memories of the Death Note again, but there's a few problems with that. Light's seen the Death Note now when he wasn't the owner of it or using it, and he also was very involved in the Kira case and knows or suspects that he was Kira at some point, both of which are dangerous points of information to leave him with. So he asks Ryuk if there's a way to erase everything, as in everything of the past year or so, and Ryuk says that only the King can do something like that.

When Ryuk refuses to go talk to the King for him, even when L tries to convince and bribe him, L goes above his head and does it anyway. Light loses a huge chunk of his memories, and Ryuk is sent back to the Shinigami realm. L goes on about his life without looking back—but he's left one very mind-fucked college kid and a pissed off Shinigami behind.

Ryuk breaks a fuckton of rules, gets himself a human body, gets a bounty put on his head by the other Shinigami, and immediately goes to find Light—who at this point is now just drifting aimlessly through life, wildly bemused as to why he feels like he's lost all hope in both himself and humanity, why his father won't look him in the eye anymore, why he's being forced to change majors and shoved away from police work, why he has so many nightmares of things he's never seen and people he's never met, why it feels like he achieved his dreams and found fulfillment only to have them ripped away from him, why he feels so different now—the boy is going through it fr. His character hasn't changed, he's just got a big gaping hole in his mind now that's eating away at him slowly, driving him to purposelessness and apathy (not helped by the people around him acting weird as fuck). He's on the verge of almost Committing™ when Ryuk finds him and swoops in like a fucked-up, corruptive punk savior.

Cue Ryuk showing Light all the things he used to love doing, i.e. drawing blood and being a terrible terrible egoistic human being >:3 Ryuk's both pleased and irritated to have to be drawing Light back out of his shell again, especially when he's so damaged now (Siri play Damaged by In This Moment—), but now that he's in a human body he can feel much, much stronger affection so he doesn't truly mind 💕 He has to be cryptic with it, but he tells Light what happened to him and now they're BOTH pissed at L. Light finds himself again through murder, and essentially runs off to be evil with Ryuk because his life is "ruined" now anyway. It isn't, but that's the tragedy of it, isn't it? You don't really come back from being a killer, even if you don't remember doing it :') It'd include a lot of L-bashing just because he'd be the antagonist here, with the nature of it being him lobotomizing Light and then leaving him to rot (even if he did it with somewhat good intentions), so if that's not your thing you don't have to go for this 🫶

My Bdaymass idea is a little more controversial, so again to reiterate these are NOT my MUST HAVE requests and you can pretend you never saw these if you'd like. But I enjoy the headcanon that BB is younger than Naomi, if not by a significant margin, but I like the idea of exacerbating it a little so I can have a freshly married Naomi and Raye foster him out of Wammy's :D Chaos ensues.

Naomi's on the fence about kids—she hasn't quit her job yet but now she's tied down to Raye and he really, really is pushing her to be a stay at home mom, so they compromise and agree to foster a kid first to see if Naomi will change her mind about having kids. (Spoiler, she will not).

Wammy's fosters every kid out at least once, so they can get a feel for the real world, and some of the ones not involved in the L program end up enjoying it and don't come back. Beyond's never been fostered out because he's so high in the rankings, but with A freshly dead they think he might need a "break" so they ship him off with the first couple that comes in, which happens to be Naomi and Raye! A little fifteen/sixteen year old angsty, angry Beyond is now trapped in a house with Naomi and Raye, Raye of which whom irritates him because he keeps trying to use his Authority™ with Beyond and Naomi of which he begins to adore because while she's awkward with him and avoids him at first, she's also very gentle with him and can relate him a lot more than either of them expected. You see where this is going.

Raye has an "accident" and is violently shunted out of the picture. Whoops. Bee's not sorry. Also he kissed your wife and she likes him better than you.

Beyond, when his time is up, decides he doesn't wanna go back in the orphan mill and fights tooth and nail kicking and screaming to be left with Naomi, but of course, it doesn't work. Naomi also tries to fight for custody of him, but again. It's Wammy's. She gets crushed, and Beyond gets yoinked back into the orphan mill—but not for very long ;3 A few months later, when she's moved back to the states, she finds Beyond knocking on her window. Covered in blood 😘

These are more fic prompts than anything, but then again I don't remember what I clicked on the form so that may be all I asked for 😅 Either way, go nuts. Whatever you make will be lovely, even if you don't use either of these! I'm very excited to see what you come up with!!!

I would miss you if you disappeared 😭 You're one of the few people I feel safe talking to. I know I almost never message first (anybody), but that's cause of the same feelings I have like you, that others don't actually like me, just tolerate me, and I don't wanna annoy them with my presence. Hard to ignore was genuinely adorable!!🥹 First of all, I absolutely loveee this trope. When you read “Jealousy swirls in his chest.” you KNOW it’s about to get juicy🤝🏼. I loved how Zach noticed the stark difference between Jade and the readers ‘parenting’. “I wished that you were my mommy,” 😭💓. “His whole body is on fire from your touch, and it won’t go away.” screaming, crying, throwing up. The “Baby…” gets me every damn time. The feeling when the protagonists finally get together in a slow burn is unmatched😋. Y/n's head shot up to look at her professor, face burning a bright shade of crimson. She ducked her head, trying to hide from the many eyes that were glued to her. One pair in particular stood out greatly compared to the rest. Chocolate molten, darkly golden eyes. They were practically burned into her memory after all. Considering the first time she really saw them was only moments ago.

PREVIOUSLY.

"You should have seen him, Pika! He practically soared through the air! His hand came in contact with the ball so quickly! And then he smashed it onto the ground!" Y/n recalled the events of Bokuto's amazing play to one of her best friend's. The female nodded enthusiastically, watching with stars in her eyes as she pictured the scene in her head.

"Awe! So cool! I wish I would have seen it.. If I didn't have to study, I would've totally been there!" Pika hummed, biting the end of her pencil in thought.

"Next time, we can both go! OH- I ALMOST FORGOT THE BEST PART-" Y/n moved her arms almost comically as she retold the practice. Making 'whooshing' and other noises with her mouth to emphasize her story. What she hadn't seen, was the guy walking past her. Trying to get down the row to his seat. And that's when it happened. The back of her hand hit something firm but slightly bouncy. She didn't think much of it at first, too enthralled in what she had been saying. But when she turned to apologize to whoever she had hit, Y/n realized just what she did.

Her face had never been more red. Her arms shot to her chest, cradling them in absolute humiliation. He was just walking by to get to his seat, and she had slapped his booty. Kill her now. She bowed her head so quickly, she swore her forehead touched her knees. Pika was stifling her laughter behind her palm, face beginning to grow red herself from second hand embarrassment.

"Oh my god- I'm so, so, so sorry- I didn't mean- it was an accident- I swear I-" His laughter cut her off. It was such a melodic sound, Y/n couldn't help but peek up at his face. There was a tiny flush to his skin, his mouth was stretched wide in a grin, eyes closed as he chuckled. "No worries. But if you really wanted to slap my ass," he opened his eyes, looking back down at her. Brown met e/c and the sight of his beautiful eyes made her heart flip. They reminded her of freshly brewed coffee. Her mouth almost watered. He leaned down and placed a hand on the table next to her, trapping her between him and the desk. "All you had to do was ask."  

"Miss. L/n?!" Said female jumped, coming back to reality as she looked down at her teacher. Had she really just been thinking about that guy the whole time? Without acknowledging her professor? How embarrassing...

"S-Sorry!" She squeaked, "Uh- I'll pay attention now! Promise!" She saluted, face scrunched in a mixture of confusion and horror. The male from before was still starring at her from a row down. She connected her gaze with his once more and his lips quirked up in a smirk. There is was, her Achilles heel. That smile was going to be the death of her... She just knew it.
