WIP Wednesday (6/26) | Guardian Angel Neil AU (Part 201)

“Don’t you worry, I've preening them and everything.”

“Oh?” Andrew asks. Neil's been preening, for his birthday? That's...

“Yeah. I didn’t realize I was supposed to be doing that until you watched that thing about birds the other night. Then it clicked that maybe I should be pulling the loose ones instead of waiting for them to fall out.”

Thing about birds… Andrew thinks for a moment until he remembers waking up from a nightmare and going out to the living room to get over it. The only mildly interesting thing he’d stumbled across was a nature documentary

“You were watching TV with me the other night? At two a.m.?” 

Neil shrugs. “Yeah. Sorta. I came down for a few minutes to make sure you were alright. Then I came back up here.”

“The others were in bed. You could’ve popped in and stayed a while.”

“I was afraid I’d fall asleep.” Neil says. At Andrew’s look, he adds, “I don’t know what happens when I sleep. If I go into Andrew-only-mode or become visible to everyone or what. I was worried someone would come in and see me passed out on your couch.”

Andrew almost wishes someone else would see Neil. That would definitely solve this whole thing. But it might get him taken away too. A double edged sword. Damn it.

“Next time, you should stay. I will wake you up if you fall asleep.”

“Maybe.”

Or, rather, it's open for interested parties to join and be able to read my WN fanfic whenever AO3 goes down for a few moments. I'm not sure that I'll alter the Members Only control any time soon and I am not inclined towards going back and adding warnings to the stuff I forgot to warn for (oops), but it's there after a few days' feverish work and one need only click the join button if one is ever so inclined.

Now I am going to vanish from the internet because we are almost at page 90 of the teenagers AU and our favourite tragic ladies haven't even kissed yet so we absolutely must work to allow them that much!

He claps for Nancy too, when they finally make it to the ‘W’s- fond, if not quite as enthusiastic. He doesn't quite know what happened between her and Jonathan when he got back- if they fixed things or they're done or somewhere in between- but whatever danger-fueled spark had lit between them down in the Upside Down has fizzled out again. He had thought he wanted her back- had babbled out a whole life plan that he’d known she would hate the moment it came out of his mouth. It hadn’t been about her, really. He’d realized that afterwards, sitting in the sterile silence of the hospital. It had been one last grasp at a fantasy that a lonely child with distant parents had convinced himself that he wanted, a plea for just a moment of indulgence before they’d walked headfirst into probable death. Even then, she hadn’t been able to give it to him.

Sometimes, you write the first draft of a fic and you feel shitty about it because it is objectively Not Good Writing. And you're not sure it's salvageable at all, and even if it was, there isn't much point in polishing it up because it's for a very random 3-person ship that nobody has written before and you doubt anyone would be interested in, so it doesn't seem worth trying to edit it, let alone post. So you just feel like you kinda wasted your time there.

And then AEW randomly announces that those exact three people are gonna be teaming on Dynamite next week, and you're just like ''...Well, shit, now I have to post the damn thing! And soon?!'' 😭
