she’s not just soft—this is a girl who is accustomed to carrying logs and will gladly do so because she’s more fit to it than this sheltered royal boy she meets. she screams at her dad. she screams at caliban. she screams at herself, beats herself up for breaking the rules that have been so engrained in her.

but at the same time, none of this has broken her spirit. she is so intensely empathetic. she cries out for humanity in a magical, inhuman world. she falls madly in love with the first boy she meets and she allows herself to be poetic, to be truly open and vulnerable, to be equal, to be truly herself with someone who adores her exactly as she is. she’s so intelligent. she’s the first one to propose in the exquisite scene that is 3.1.

she is brimming, nay, overflowing with joy and wonder and love.

Whenever I'm feeling discouraged or I'm doubting myself, I find myself comparing my art to people I idolise- Taylor Swift, Lin-Manuel Miranda etc. And one thing that really helps with that is listening to their demo tracks- the ones they reccorded in their tiny little home studios with very basic equipment.

It makes me realise that the versions of them that we see are the polished, filtered versions- never that first draft.

I'm very much in the "demo" stages of my music. Everything that I put out right now will sound like I recorded it in my bedroom at 3am using a sock pulled over a coat-hanger as a pop shield, because that's what I did. I will get better with time, practice, and money for better equipment. Right now, though, there’s no harm in putting what I’m doing out there anyway.

There's no point in comparing myself to the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hamilton, because that's way beyond what I'm even close to accomplishing, but listening to the Hamilton Demos, I can get a good idea of where I'm supposed to be at the moment, in my first, second, third drafts.

Every piece of art, whether it's crochet or writing or painting or music, will start with the first draft. Trust the process, and one day that shitty little demo will become your masterpiece :)

I'm really over all this weird hate Lin Manuel Miranda has started getting. Like, he's not perfect, some of his work is very phoned in just for a paycheck or part of a contract, and yeah he should be criticized for the times he's fumbled or worse about racism, but a lot of the criticism this website is throwing at him is just off the mark. Like, you absolutely cannot deny the impact he's had on theater, Pop Culture, recent music, etc.; Of course, people do try and minimize or flat out deny any impact he's had, and they flat out have to lie or misrepresent reality to do it. Hamilton, while obviously worthy of its criticism, definitively made an impact with race blind casting and emphasizing diversity; It's not fully his fault Disney remakes saw people liked race-blind casting once and decided all their remakes have it now regardless of the legitimate criticisms he got from it. Speaking of remakes, a lot of Tumblr people hating on him hard-core right now are specifically hating on him in relation to the Little Mermaid remake, and... I hate to defend it, but Tumblr should really understand by now that not everyone is hating on an admittedly bad remake for the same reason, and in this case a lot of them are hating on it for very obviously racist reasons, and yet because they share a hate for LMM, people just reblog without looking, and now tons of Leftist or Progressive Tumblrs are regularly reblogging Lite to big time racist/fascist Tumblrs. Like, come on, isn't this website the one where everyone was all smug about not falling for "obvious" Right Wing Pipelines? Look, they guy is earnest and imperfect, and I've never really cared about him before now, simply because I recognized the flagrantly stupid "He WaS nEvEr GoOd" takes and recognized the pipeline that was coming because of Little Mermaid. He's just a guy who made it big and kinda gets used a lot, and who works a lot because he likes music and really doesn't want to do anything that could mess up his dream projects; So he takes on some subpar projects for cash or because he's contractually obligated to, so many actors and artists do that, at least he still tries to make it fun. And, in regards to a lot of common criticism, he seems to genuinely be learning and actually trying to better himself and better showcase diversity and darker skinned characters in his work, he's trying which is a whole lot more than honestly most; He seemed to genuinely think the policies he supported for Puerto Rico would help but now he shows regret for supporting things that hurt it. Honestly, he's handling going from "hero of diverse storytelling and music who tries to help more diverse creativies" to "literally as bad as a fascist while also justifying people being racist towards him and calling it progressive" better than most would.

BEAUTY INDICATORS IN NATAL CHART

✦ Hi there!I did a little poll asking whether you’d prefer a post on fame indicators or beauty indicators in astrology, and beauty ended up getting more love — so I put together a post all about that.

Just keep in mind — beauty is subjective and influenced by many factors beyond astrology. Still, these indicators often show up in the charts of people widely admired for their looks or charm. Also, these are just my personal observations, so feel free to share more beauty indicators in the comments!

PLANETS & POINTS

1. Venus – the planet of beauty, love, and aesthetics

Strong Venus (e.g., in Taurus, Libra, or Pisces) – enhances beauty, grace, and charm. The beauty of these three signs are very different tho. Taurus brings sexy and seductive beauty, Libra brings elegant and noble beauty, Pisces brings ethereal, mysterious and dreamy beauty.

Venus in the 1st house – beautiful appearance, charm that’s obvious to others.

Venus conjunct or near Ascendant – one of the strongest beauty aspects, often seen in people considered physically attractive. Of course it depends on the aspects that Venus has too but most of the times even if their faces are not that symmetrical, they have this elegant/beautiful/charming aura in them. Venus conjunct ASC – often seen in celebrities like: Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz (Cancer – captivating eyes); Bella Hadid, Charlize Theron (Virgo – clean, sharp elegance); Rihanna (Aries – bold and fierce beauty); Beyonce (Libra-elegant beauty), Selena Gomez (in Leo, they often radiate that ‘IT girl’ or ‘IT guy’ energy), Sandra Bullock (in Gemini, these folks mostly look cunning/smart/young),  Aamir Khan (in Pisces, these folks have enchanted/impressive eyes just like Neptune conjunct ASC).  This aspect often brings striking beauty. Men with Venus conjunct the Ascendant often have soft, elegant features, a fashion-forward sense, or an appreciation for art and aesthetics. E.g. Jude Law (in Sagittarius).  Folks that have this aspect in Scorpio look so sexy and mysterious at the same time.

Venus in aspect to Moon – adds softness, femininity, emotional appeal. Hard aspects also count.

Venus in aspect to Jupiter – generosity, charm, attractive energy. Again, hard aspects also count. E.g. Mila Kunis and Monica Bellucci (Venus-Jupiter square).

2. Ascendant (Rising Sign) – how others see you physically

Libra, Taurus, Pisces, or Leo Rising – often associated with symmetrical, attractive, or artistically appealing features.

Ruling planet of Ascendant well-placed or dignified – enhances physical presence and magnetism. E.g. If you are a Gemini/Virgo rising with an exalted Mercury (in Gemini or Virgo), in 1st/3rd /5th/7th/10th/11th house, and has aspects with Venus, Jupiter or Neptune, the likelihood of your beauty increases. This beauty will most likely be youthful, smart, clean (with Virgo) looking beauty. I’m a Gemini rising with Mercury in Virgo, at the end of 4th/beginning of 5th and my Mercury trines with Neptune. People always tell me I look so young, around 23-24 even though I’m already 30 lol.

Gwen's Lyrics: Late To Bloom & Sooner

A few weeks ago, Gwen's unreleased song "Sooner" was posted on YouTube for the first time. The song, written by Gwen, Shane McAnally, Busbee, and Amy Wadge, was added to BMI in 2019 and seemingly came out of sessions Gwen had with those writers in the spring of 2019. (Another song written during this time called "You Kissed Me Back To Life" was spotted on BMI the same day as "Sooner." We still have not heard that one.) 

Fans at the time immediately guessed what "Sooner" might be about - Gwen's wish that she had met Blake earlier in life. Gwen posted what would turn out to be a line from the chorus under a throwback photo of Blake in September 2019:

This was about a month after the song title was discovered on BMI by fans, but time passed and nothing ever came of it.

As we know, Gwen eventually released a new studio album, "Bouquet," which did not include "Sooner" but included another song with an extremely similar theme - "Late To Bloom."

Here are the lyrics to "Sooner" and "Late To Bloom" side by side:

When comparing the songs, the thing that sticks out to me is that "Sooner" seems a little more personal and raw. It has a sad tune, includes striking references to Blake's previous marriage and his late father, and is more reflecting on the time that was lost. It's interesting her honesty about wishing he wouldn't have loved anyone else before her.

If she'd released this song, the line about "all the years you had to fake it" would have definitely gotten people talking. My opinion of this line is that it means that Blake and Miranda, same as Gwen and Gavin, had a lot of ups and downs, but as a public couple they always had to put on the best face for people and not let anyone see the cracks that were there. They had to pretend things were great even when they weren't (which is why their divorce came as quite a shock to the public).

"She didn't even know she wasted you" seems like a sister line to "And only a stupid girl would let you go" in "Rare" — Gwen likely believes Miranda took him for granted and didn't appreciate him the way that she does. But she is envious of the time that Miranda got with him before they met, time that she believes was wasted with the wrong people who just hurt them.

In contrast, "Late To Bloom" has a peppy tune and is more optimistic. It has more generalized lyrics that don't reference anything too deep, but still has a personal touch, talking about them riding in Blake's truck and picking flowers. The lyrics show that she is enjoying the present and looking toward the future, rather than dwelling on the past with so much melancholy.

It's possible the difference in tone between the two songs is due to the fact that "Sooner" was written when Gwen and Blake had only been dating a little over 3 years (and thus were only 3.5 years past their divorces), while "Late To Bloom" was written when they'd been together more than 7 years and were now married. It could be that the more time Gwen has gotten with Blake, the less it stings that they met so late because they have continually filled their years together with valuable shared experiences.

Shane McAnally would say that working with Gwen during those spring 2019 sessions (which included writing "Sooner") and hearing about her relationship with Blake helped inspire him while writing "Nobody But You."

“I had worked with Gwen Stefani, just a few days before I went in to write this song,” McAnally said. “When I heard the melody, it made me think of Blake, and it sounded like a love song. I just said, ‘We should kind of write this with them in mind.’”

“One of the main things we talked about was her and Blake, and she just was telling me how happy they were and how glad they were they found each other at this part of their life and they're just truly in love,” he says.

I notice in the lyrics of "Nobody But You," there is again the similar theme to "Sooner" about wasted time:

"All the wasted days, all the wasted nights/I blame it all on being young/Got no regrets, 'cause they got me here/But I don't wanna waste another one"

The longing to have found each other earlier is also expressed in Blake's 2021 wedding song, "We Can Reach the Stars," in the line - "We always said we wished we'd met long before we finally did."

Gwen again touches on this theme in a line of "Empty Vase" - "Why, why did it take so much time? You've always been the one I've been trying to find"

It's obvious that this thought has loomed large in Gwen's head over the years, how different things might be if she had been able to meet Blake earlier in life.

I wish she had released "Sooner" because it is a very honest and touching song, but listening to it actually made me feel a little depressed, too. It's just rather sad! I'm grateful there is a more cheerful and hopeful iteration in "Late To Bloom," showing a sunnier view of the theme of meeting your great love later in life.

ToA: Hidden Oracle Opinion (3/4)

I just finished the book so I'm going to make the last two post about it.

I left Apollo yesterday fighting off giants ants only to find out how he basically got adopted by the queen. That was extremely strange. I liked how,even with everything that it's happening,he still think sometimes of Artemis and Leto. That's sweet,and I actually hope they will make an appearance even if little. But as someone that hate insects,I found it horrifying. The fact that Apollo himself decided to call the queen mom???? And she was happy about it? Leto come and get your son before he start to get worse!

I admit that I didn't saw Meg's plot twist coming. It's been a while we actually had something like that,I think the last one was in BotL when Percy opened the coffin. Chills,literally. I was also completely wrong about her backstory,but at least now I know why she has roman weapons. And,I know it might be a bit cruel,but I loved how manipulate Nero is with her. He gaslighted her so much that she think he actually care for her,when he was so ready to kill her off with Apollo after she disobeyed him.

I'll probably talk more about this because when manipulators are involved is usually extremely interesting and the situation is so twisted that it hurt so much,and I love to analyze the deep of it.

Apollo being so protective of Austin,Kayla and Meg,even with the fact she betrayed him,was extremely sweet too. Meg will pull a Silena (right now she is more of a Luke) eventually and come back to him,but untill then Apollo is on his own. And the way he felt about the whole situation? The fact that he couldn't let Meg go because she is his master,but at the same he become attached to her? Perfect. (Also,the dude got a lot of abandonment issues and lack of affection,he needs a therapist).

The scene when the dryads died to end the fire is horrifying and it was extremely good too. Apollo was feeling so much guilt and it didn't help him at all,having also Miranda acknowledge what happens (even tho she was still knocked out) put emphasis on how much their sacrifice really meant since a daughter of Demeter could feel them. Trully emotional.

I also wasn't expecting a giant robot to attack the Camp after Apollo got Dodona under control,but of course demigods can't live in peace more than a couple of weeks. The fact that Nico barely did a jump of not even 10 meters of distance and fainted will always piss me off. He got an ancient statue back while said statue was draining his powers,and he had 2 other people with him,and was actively dying but can't do a simple jump to get a chariot without fainting??? Nope,I won't stand for that.

Percy coming in clutch and helping Apollo also wasn't something I appreciated since he needs to start doing things himself. Percy in the end didn't do much (otherwise I was going to have a bad crash out) but I don't like how Riordan make him always came to save/help the situation. Fortunately he isn't going to show much since he stepped down for this. Still,I would have appreciated more if he got there after the fight ended.

And that scene with Mrs. O'Leary on the head of the robot....it wasn't really effective- Percy made a fool of himself,but it wasn't his fault. Idk what Riordan was trying to do here but it wasn't funny.

The fact that the Arrow can talk is another reference to MC I presume,since I know that Magnus's sword can talk and apparently also fly and fight alone. But I loved how Kayla and Austin couldn't hear it so they thought Apollo was insane. That was funny. Poor children,they are having a field week because of their dad and they will probably continue to be worried about him until he come back after finding the other oracles.

I spoilered myself part of the Leo coming back scene,but even with that,it was hilarious. The way Nico got the whole camp in a line to punch him,because he was beefing with him without Leo being aware of it,is something else. The guy is dedicated,you can give it that. And when Calypso mentioned Albania he just went through the 5 stages of mourning. He wasn't having any of it.

Leo scene with Harley was pretty sweet and having Nyssa too was really a demonstration of how far he has come,since at the start of HoO I remember that they weren't pretty welcoming with him. I'm so happy he is loved by his siblings and everyone else,even with his non-existent self-esteem. His copying mechanisms need to be revisited tho....

Calypso putting aside her grudge with Percy was a scene awkward at the start but at least they can finally let everything go in the past. She probably didn't even know that her curse actually effected Annabeth since she couldn't know they would fell in Tartarus. And the fact that she also put aside her hate for Apollo,in a situation where both of them are mortals that can die pretty easily and without powers? That's a good thing too,since now they can sympathize with each other and know each other better. But you can't stop hating a person in just a moment,so I'm hoping to actually have some communication issues between them while they try to figure out each other. Otherwise is fake as fuck.

Having Calypso and Leo as his "quest-mates" right now was not something I was expecting,since I thought he was going to go with someone else (read:Jason,Will and Nico) but that will probably happen later on. Can't wait to see the new characters dynamics with them since they are a strange mix,and with their past too....it won't be so easy.

I also liked how Apollo felt sad about leaving camp,and how guilty he felt thinking about how his children gave him a home/made him feel welcome,while he couldn't even do the bare minimum for them. And his interior monologue when he was trying to hit the robot was actually a good wake up call for him. He is starting to understand he needs to do better,but at the same time he was a self-esteem under the shoes. He isn't different from a TLT Percy and I quite like that.

Python is going to be like Gaia here,while the emperors are the Giants and the Oracles a very important quest to complete. Riordan put a lot of things to work here,and I hope that he will be able to do everything right,without rushing anything (looking at you Gaia-) and make Apollo complete all the stages. It's like a chain reaction: if he doesn't free the oracles he can't defeat the emperors,and if he doesn't defeat the emperors he can't free Delphi from Python. But the final boss already got put in the background since the race in the Labyrinth,so we are going to focus more on the emperors until we got to him. I don't have an high expectations of this,since Gaia got done pretty dirty in her own serie.

Anyway,the book was ok,I enjoyed it and it was more funny than the other books. Riordan lost something during HoO and,he found it again for ToA: the desire to write and create. PJO and ToA have the same feeling for me,they seems pretty similar,while HoO is totally different. It's probably for the narrative choice since they are both in first person PoVs,and only from the main character (one character). Can't wait to see how it will go in the next one.

This Christmas… new character and new entailed backstory.

Stefania and rosa walk up to you from behind and place a map on the table. Stefania sighs as a look of fear moves across her face but she speaks up when Rosa gives her a look of urgency.

“ we found a way to get to mother Miranda’s power base, if we’re gonna do this we need to do it together” she says looking over at Rosa.

“ it’s really risky—the entire mission is, and if we do this…. If we fight against her and the black gods magic we may not come back…..” Rosa whispers.

“ I’m doing it for her” you say, because it’s the truth, you’re doing this to save Alcina…… because this winter she has everything to lose but she’s not a monster.

I don't think catnip would work but maybe Donna could come up with an alternative that does. And how quick would Alcina ban it. Just three not!cat mutants. And how they definitely aren't just cats in fly form.

There is, of course, the most obvious trait: the purring

Bela purrs the loudest, at any little touch she receives from the ones she loves and treasures. Whether this be her lover, sisters, or mother. She purrs the easiest in those situations too, from mere praise or head scratches

Cassandra is the most embarrassed about her purring. She can’t control it, and she dislikes this. Ah, but perhaps- only perhaps- she will learn not to mind it when her lover scratches her scalp just right

Daniela, our energetic love bug. She purrs very easily, and proudly so. She purrs at any compliments from her many crushes, cuddles, even kisses pressed to the top of her head by her sisters and mother. It’s a way for her to express her adoration and happiness, to her

Of course, the first time they have purred this way, Alcina was very caught off guard. She was lounging in her large bed in her room, freshly reborn daughters sprawled out on her lap

Bela in the middle, with her head on Alcina’s collarbone and little hands clinging onto her nightdress although she was worried her mother would leave. Cassandra stuck strictly to her right, demanding more of the head scratches and whining whenever Alcina’s fingertips stopped moving against her head. And of course, Daniela, her youngest, on the left, clutching her arm as she eagerly accepted the scratches under her chin

Suddenly though, nearly in synch, purrs came from all three daughters. Naturally, Alcina was confused. If it was not for the few flies that still swarmed about or rested on her, she’d have perhaps been worried Mother Miranda mixed cats rather than flies with the cadou

Alas, upon approaching this subject, she learned it is her girls’ many, little fly wings flapping against one another in excitement, content, or happiness

She thinks it’s adorable

Then, there is the headbutting and staring at empty spaces

Yes, the headbutting, of course. Now, Alcina adores this. She often finds herself yelping in surprise when Daniela flies past, merely to return, shoot her a large, happy grin, headbutt her stomach, then runs off again

It seems, all three of her daughters have such a trait

Such as when Cassandra brings home a large prey for supper, and receives happy, thankful head buts in return. She of course returns these, all three daughters purring contentedly

Or when Alcina reads to them, she often feels a smaller head bump into her sides or arms, a silent appreciation. She shoots her daughters a loving smile each time

Then, there is the staring, and the apparent urge to cause trouble sometimes, or perhaps only to knock things over

Often, she tilts her head in confusion when she finds her fierce little Cassandra staring at the wall, teeth bared at times even. Yet, there is nothing there, and her daughter doesn’t claim there is, nor that there is not. Alcina normally leaves her to it- it doesn’t quite harm anybody or anything- until Cassandra does pounce, and her nails dig into the wallpaper

Or when she keeps Bela on her lap to cuddle and nap while she works; an activity that was sadly nearly entirely lost to time as the woman became older, more mature and busy. Still, Alcina remembers having her little pile of flies on her lap while she works, dozing off contentedly and occasionally flexing her small claws, small purrs soothing her mother even when she grows tired of her work. Ah, but I’m getting sidetracked

In such times, she was working, filling out paperwork with one hand, the other tangled in Bela’s hair to scratch her scalp. That is, until the blonde would sit up and stare at the far corner of the room

Why? Alcina hasn’t found out to this very day

Another thing are their odd sleeping positions, and the (thankfully quite temporary) clinginess

Bela loves to sleep in tight spaces especially, or even just relax in them. Often, Alcina has opened her closet and nearly shrieked in surprise to find Bela wedged between shoe cartons, nearly covered in her dresses with only a small part of her poking out. Distressed about the small space her daughter is in, Alcina has always lifted her up and out. After a month or so, she realised this is futile- Bela merely always returns

Still, when she opens her closet and sees her daughter napping contentedly between the boxes, she leans down to scratch her lightly behind her ear, presses a kiss to her forehead, then closes the closet door for her again. She knows by now, this is Bela’s safe spot, and it’s by far too adorable to hear the purring even through the closed closet door

At times, too, she finds Cassandra wedged in small gaps under a wall, her legs tucked up and her head resting on her arms as she snores away

The first time she has found her this way, Alcina nearly cried in happiness. She had been looking for her middle child for hours, having been unable to find her. Her worrying mind went as far as to fear her sweet, stubborn child went out to hunt in the cold and would forever be lost

Thankfully not. Still, Cassandra shrieked when she was finally pulled from her hiding spot, grumbles and complains leaving her lips and- at last- loud whines when Alcina noted how filthy she was from the dirty spot she’s hid in

To this day, Alcina knows Cassandra likes to hide there. Tucked away near the guest chamber, a small path hidden behind a fireplace. A tiny gap in the wall where she rests on the floor

She never bothers her there, she knows it’s her daughter’s spot to retreat and relax. Still, when she calls Cassandra and sees her covered in dirt, dust, and blood, the woman is in for a bath

And Daniela, of course, is also quite fond of odd sleeping positions. Her favourite by far, though? To stretch alongside edges of things

Yes, that’s right. Now, sometimes this means the edge of a sofa. Here, Alcina is quick to place many pillows on the ground in case her precious youngest daughter falls. Still, Daniela looks so content and happy, snoring lightly and fully stretched out, she doesn’t have the heart to stop her

At other times, Alcina all but yanks her in her arms

Such as when she finds Daniela at the edge of the balcony or a window sill, stretched out as usual and daring to fall off the edge and far down below

Immediately, the redhead’s eyes snap open and she whines when she is picked up and cradled, Mother’s fussing and worried scolding meeting rolled eyes and yawns. In the end, Daniela is happy to sleep in Alcina’s arms too, really

Lastly regarding the sleeping dilemma: there is one thing all 3 sisters like to do: which is to bask in the sun

Now, in summer this isn’t a problem. The castle has plenty warm spots for them in the gardens, or even in the woods. And they do so prefer stony surfaces. Alcina knows this, having often watched them first roll around on it and smudge their cheeks against it, then relax and doze off in the sun. Again, this poses no issue at all in summer

In winter however, when there is sun and the temperatures are still too low…it becomes a little challenging. Specifically, because all three women share one spot they like to sleep on: Alcina’s window sill

The sun hits it perfectly, and all three daughters know it. As such, Alcina hears them bicker for a couple of minutes, before finding them piled on top of each other, eyes closed and silent purrs and snores filling the room, limbs sticking out and bodies almost melting together in a large pile of flies so that the woman has difficulty telling whose hand is the one sticking out and who has lost her heel

Now, there was a period of time of incredible clinginess. Thankfully, this seems to have been limited to the few months to a year after their rebirth

Still, Alcina remembers it vividly

She remembers the chorus of screams when she would only close the door of the bathroom to use the toilet. The loud “Mama!”’s from the other side, almost wailing to be let in and back to her side. “Cassandra!”- her scolding when she heard claws move against the door, only to hear two more sets against it too, the eldest and youngest copying their sister. “I’ll be just a moment, my darlings!”- this never quite helped, merely resulted in more wailed yells

The second the door opened, however, three pairs of golden puppy eyes looked up at her. Bela’s; wide and bright, her arms slowly raising in a silent question to be picked up by her mother. Cassandra’s; dark, but wide, eyebrows furrowed and hands hidden behind her back as though Alcina didn’t know of the wood from her door that stuck to her claws. And Daniela; her eyes wide and teary, her bottom lip trembling and shaky arms raising in a request to be picked up as well. “Mama…!”

Of course, Alcina could never stay mad at her sweet daughters, and merely scooped the three women up in a hug

There are their other traits, too, such as their choice of toys and the gifts they retrieve sometimes

Bela loves strings. These are her favourite toys by far. While she won’t chase after them quite as much, Alcina enjoys the gleeful giggles from her daughter’s lips when she raises the string over and over again, Bela’s hands raising in an attempt to snatch it

Often, she brings her mother a piece of string; bright golden eyes looking up at her and pouty lips turning into a large, bright grin when Alcina takes the string from her. She promises, she won’t tell her two younger daughters about it

Cassandra on the other hand loves live toys, such as rats and birds, humans, or animals. As it comes to inanimate objects, however, her go-to is the laser pointer

Often is Alcina nearly rolling with laughter as she points it and watches her middle child race after the small, red dot. She stumbles over chairs and swarms through furniture, her arms outstretched for the dot

Her adorably confused expression when the dot is on her forehead, just between her eyes. Alcina coos at the adorable sight. Cassandra’s eyes going cross as she attempts to spot the shiny dot, her head tilting a little bit in confusion

Alcina’s eyes widen when she sees Daniela’s hips wiggle. She knows, her youngest is about to pounce, for unfortunately: the laser pointer is Daniela’s favourite toy too

And so, predictably so, a loud shriek, “EEK!”, comes from Cassandra when her younger sister tackles her and scratches her in attempt to catch the dot. Still, when the brunette pushes her sister, the dot is quickly forgotten and Alcina must now attempt to detangle her fussy little bugs

Of course, the mother of three often finds herself receiving lovely gifts, too

Bela opts for mice and birds, often brought to Alcina when she works, the animal in her mouth, trapped between her teeth. “Thank you, my smart little girl”, she thanks her daughter each time when the limp little thing is dropped on her desk and Bela swarms in her lap for cuddles and head scratches. She is never denied them, of course

Only once did she bring a possum, yet this was neither dead, nor caught between her teeth, but rather carried in her palms. Alcina nearly fell from her chair when she turned her head and the tiny thing hissed at her

“Mother, can we keep it?”

Then there is Cassandra’s gifts- often a little bloodier, and usually very large. Alcina knows, her fierce little huntress wants to prove herself to her. It seems no amount of reassurances help her darling understand that she will be loved regardless of how impressive her kill is

Still, Alcina often finds wolves, maidens, even a bear head dropped in front of her. Cassandra merely grins widely, her cheeks pink and silent purrs filling the room when Alcina scratches her neck and praises her for such a wonderful gift

Cassandra feels flustered and happy (despite trying to hide both) when she walks past a room and sees Alcina hung up one of her trophies. She feels so proud whenever her kill makes the wall!

Daniela opts for all kinds of gifts. On some days, the mother of three might find beautiful flowers dropped in her lap or standing at her desk, with a small note containing a bloody smiley and a text such as “from your favourite daughter”, or “I love you mama” or “They’re pretty like you, Mother” on it

At other times, she might find mice, deers, or limbs scattered on the floor in her room as a gift from her youngest. Daniela beams happily when she is lifted and receives light kisses all over her face for her gifts

“Thank you, my little fly”. She, of course, goes off to rub her Mother’s happiness about her gifts right into her sisters’ faces

There are times, in which the sisters get startled by the smallest of things, despite the fierce huntresses all three women are

Such as when Bela plays with her string with her mother, her hands eagerly grabbing for it as it is lifted over and over again. It’s all fun and well, until her claw accidentally gets stuck on it and the feeling makes her shake, swarm in shock and surprise, then run right into Alcina. The woman only ever stares in surprise at her daughter. What a curious little thing she is to her

Or when Cassandra could spend her days torturing the screaming victims of the Dimitrescu basement, laugh at and mock them even. Yet, when Alcina happens to drop her fork, she shrieks in surprise and jumps up, swarming high in the air before she drops on her older sister’s lap, hissing around and clinging to her. Cassandra has never lived this down, and never will

Only when the fork is lifted, inspected, and she’s swiped her claw-like nails at it, does she return to her seat with a big, embarrassed blush and a groan when she is immediately teased by her family for it all

And lastly, Daniela too gets startled by the smallest of things sometimes. By nothing at all, really. She is lounging on Alcina’s lap, purring and grinning happily when she receives light scratches on her scalp and under her chin. This is when her golden eyes open and spot her mother’s shoes on the floor. Not that they’re suddenly there or anything

Still, Daniela jumps up and swarms away fast, as though pierced by a needle. Alcina is confused regarding what happened to this very day, yet figures perhaps her daughter has just gotten a random energy burst

Catnip? Flynip?

The first trip with the three sisters to visit Donna was…eventful, really. Alcina thought nothing of it. Of course, she knows of the pollen of the many flowers in the lord’s region. Of course, she looks out for her daughters for this reason

Still, when they show little reaction aside from a little bit of dizziness, and practically beg for Alcina to let them roam freely, she at last gives in, instead opts for a conversation with Donna

Mere minutes later do they hear loud laughter- Daniela, Cassandra and Angie’s. Both lords jump to their feet. They know to be cautious

Still, Alcina can’t help but laugh at the image in front of her when she spots her daughters and the doll in the greenhouse

Bela in the middle of the flower field, twisting and turning, grinning and purring loudly at the orange flowers that surround her, pawing at them and touching some of the petals, the pollen dusting her face and clothing. She giggles and rolls around happily, pupils dilated. “Mother!”, she greets happily. Only when Alcina lifts her from the field and cradles her does she begin to whine, eager to return to the warm flowers

Cassandra giggles as she bites into some of them, her pupils dilated as well as she runs around quickly and rubs her cheek against the orange flowers she passes. She sneezes for a moment when pollen seems to tickle her nose, then continues rubbing herself against the flowers eagerly. She too whines and groans when she is lifted and thrown over Alcina’s shoulder. “Mother!”. Why can’t she keep playing!

And Daniela; pupils dilated and giggling as she rubs herself on the ground, dirt in her hair and clothing, pollen covering her by how much she’s headbutted the flowers. And Angie? Of course, she is making no attempt of stopping her, but rather tickles the poor, squirming thing and giggles when more laughter is drawn from Daniela. She too whines when she is lifted and thrown over her mother’s left shoulder

“Awwh!…Mama!”

Helllooo! So even if you don't really wanna write them or don't like the ideas very much I kinda want to be them out because I don't have the capability to do anything with them so might as Well :p

ANYWAY first idea is basically a lady D x reader where Reader works in a brothel (idk if your comfortable writing that kinda stuff so feel free to ignore) and helps one of the daughter's out while some men are chasing her. This daughter doesn't know how to repay this man-thing-smelling maiden so instead invites them to dinner! (Kinda cliche RE8 fic ik) Lady D doesn't really like them cuz they smell like man-thing. Not sure how to fix it from here as I'm not a story writing person but somehow Lady D comes to a hasty understanding of reader and why they work at the brothel. (Reader probs works there cuz they have no where else to go or something) maybe Lady D makes a very mean comment about their occupation and Reader gets upset and Lady D reluctantly apologises?

IDEA 2 is a mother Miranda (could be any of the lords tbf) x reader where Reader VOLENTEERS for experiments to be done on them because they believe so much in mother Miranda and her cause (yada yada). Reader realises while experiments commence that maybe the cult they follow isn't the best and might not be very nice :(. Mother Miranda (or any of the lords) feels really bad for reader because of how mislead they've been! And fluff ensues and all that jazz.

Sandman Audible Appreciation Post - The Doll's House

So I read this page and I said to myself- cool- Lucien is walking around the Dreaming and taking the census.

But no!

Here is the Audible narration:

The palace of the lord of Dreams is no longer the ruin it was when he first returned from captivity, not that the sleeping Rose Walker is aware of its history. She dreams of elegant towers and walls studded with jewels and gems, covering not so much acres, as what seems like square miles. Lucien, reading from his ledger, walks up a driveway to a huge gateway, guarded, to Rose's alarm, by three huge mythological beasts: a wyvern, a hippogryph, and a griffin. They allow him to pass through the great outer doorway.

The palace of Dream contains many rooms. As befits a dream, and Rose's dream in particular, none of them appear to have any logical connection to each other. The hallway is lined with suits of armor. Lucien bustles through, lost in his calculations. In the next room, the suits of armor give way to storefront mannequins, unclothed, lining a huge swimming pool. The only way to walk across is by means of a long, unsteady plank. Lucien pays it little heed.

Each room presents new inconsistencies. Rose's dream seems almost random in its variety, yet Lucien is a constant factor, refusing to be distracted. The room through which subway trains pass is of no consequence to him either.

Lucien isn't walking around different parts of the Dreaming- he's walking through the palace, one long path taking him to Dream in the throne room, and as he walks from room to room, his surroundings are changing around him in that classic dream logic "I'm walking on a hallway oh now in the next room it's a swimming pool oh now in this room the wall has a face oh now it's a train track, huh ok that's cool" kind of way.

I just think that's so cool, and I literally didn't get that from just looking at the page. It wasn't until I heard the audiobook that I looked back at this page and I was like- ohhhh, panel 2 is the gatekeepers and the palace door, and then Lucien is walking through the palace. I needed the description to make that click for me. (I may just be dumb though lol)

Similarly, at the beginning, with the description of the Threshold of Desire:

The threshold is larger than you can easily imagine

Ok

perhaps a thousand feet high

Oh!! So like- the height of the Eiffel Tower? Ok yeah that's way way taller than i was picturing

And this is my appreciation post for reading the comic and listening to the Audible at the same time, because the combination in magic <3

Dream Line Readings

James McAvoy is relatively calm in this episode!

Morpheus only appears on 5 pages (and only 3 of them are speaking pages- the other 2 he is just hilariously lurking in the dollhouse), and James McAvoy is excellent, as always, but he doesn't do any yelling that sends me into hysterics this time around.

I would like to share this, possibly one of my most favorite pages of the entire comic:

I just really really like to think of Dream being like- oh I hear Lucien about to come in, time to ✨strike a pose✨

I really like this issue overall. We meet Desire and Despair! We see a gallery and the sigils for the first time. We meet Rose and Miranda and learn how they're related to Unity! (Rose and Miranda are shocked to acquire a parent/grandparent- and little do they know that the reader has also just met their other parent/grandparent- but the reader doesn't know it yet either mwahaha!) We see The Dreaming in its renewed splendor, see Dream and Lucien going about their work, meet the Corinthian and hear about Brute/Glob/Fiddler's Green, learn about the concept of a dream vortex for the first time. We start to learn more about how the Endless relate to and interact with mortals, and with each other, and with the world around them. Good stuff is to come. In general I am a big fan of this arc.

I'm laughing so hard at myself going from 90s latam rock to bachata but hear me out. Bojan likes to dance, bachata is a genre with a pretty intricate dance that Bojan would learn to surprise girls with at parties. Also bachata just feels very him??? and this song is iconic and it had a pretty popular meme back in the day he would still quote today
