A Very Short "Essay" On Why They Should Teach Philosophy in School (and Why You Should Learn It Anyway)
Something I've realized formally studying philosophy now is that holy mother of all gods, this stuff would be super useful to teach in school. Why? What are Plato, Aristotle, and even modern philosophers going to teach us that's useful for adulting as many people are concerned about now when it comes to high school? Philosophy boils down to how to live a good life, a civic one at that in many cases! It's how to be a good person and how to have direction in life. Honestly, that's something I think a lot of people need right now. There's no one philosophy either, there's so many schools of thought, so you can find the one that fits for your life.
Other than this though, philosophy also helps deal with a few other surprising things: misinformation and being a fudging a**hole. Misinformation is rampant in online spaces, HBomberguy even highlighted how misinformation from James Somerton led to it being accepted as fact by some people. Philosophy is a counter to this. It asks to think critically of life, of the things we encounter in it, and how we accept it. Misinformation thrives on either willful ignorance, or a simple laziness to not fact check what you're hearing. Sometimes that's understandable, like with the case with James, people trusted him and the information he shared. However, spreading something like that like fact yourself requires you to first confirm the information, often from an additional source (always have multiple sources for information, it's a life saver). Philosophy itself as a subject is the art of critical thinking, and this is exactly what critical thinking teaches us, to never trust the words of just one person. Get different views, look into it yourself! Teaching philosophy can reinforce this idea and help folks avoid falling down rabbit holed that lead to social isolation in the cases of things like flat earth and climate change denial.
I also mentioned preventing a**holes. A**holes are a pretty common problem. Just look at Elon Musk, Trump, or rich guy YouTubers like Logan Paul. Why does this happen? It can be a mix of social pressure, how they were raised, and even the very institutions of our world that can lead to it. A**holes: A Theory, by Aaron James, is a great way to learn more about this, but to put it plainly, a**holes often exist because they feel an entrenched and high sense of entitlement. They won't apologize for their actions in a meaningful way, and they certainly don't see you as having the same moral standing to them. They're a bane to a cooperative society. So, how do we deal with this? James suggested a few ways, landing on that there's an understanding that life kind of sucks. However, if we, as cooperative people, unite, we can life a little less sucky, and by virtue, better. Philosophy comes into play here yet again. It teaches social values, how to be a good person, how to be a civil person. Being a civil person means we can meet that call, we can make society less sucky, and make it better. If we understand our civic duties to one another, learn critical thought, and have meaning in this turbulent boat of world, we can be better people, we can live better lives! Teaching philosophy does that.
In the end, life sucks, but it doesn't have to. In fact, I'd say there's hope. I know some schools (especially in the States, I'm Canadian myself) already teach philosophy. Does it help? I can't quite say. I can tell you it's helped me when I learned it just as an interest by myself, but my peers who did go to schools with it often share that they were the better for it when I ask them about it. So, give it a try. Explore philosophy a bit! It can truly be a delight.

Summary: “Hey,” Sokka’s voice is soft. “Come with me. I’ve missed you.”
Distantly, Toph supposes that even the earth moves unsteadily at times; after all, isn’t that how earthquakes are caused?
Notes: This idea has been in my head for literal years. there's a lot of swearing in this story, because you can't tell me Toph wouldn't swear. it takes place over a number of decades. it touches briefly on the comics and on LOK, but not so heavily that you have to have read them or seen the series to understand what's happening. This is a slightly Alternate Universe to that of the comics and of the LOK series. It is a part of my "To Transcend Lifetimes" series, but is not heavily related to the other works in this series. Oh, and also: I know NOTHING about fortune telling. I apologize in advance if I fucked it up royally.
Preview:
Toph doesn’t really bat an eye when she gets a letter from a small Earth village in the middle of bumbafuck. Her secretary reads it to her and she shrugs it off; it gets thrown on her dining room table most unceremoniously. She spends the rest of the week doing what she usually does: focusing on her school and being a little too bored. To be grounded is in her nature, but Toph also has a strange tendency to get restless. Her body starts to twitch and her spirit grows bored. Nothing good has ever come from a bored Toph.
It’s a very un-Earthbender like personality trait; in fact, Zuko once dumbly commented on how it was almost an Air Nomad quality. Aang had agreed. They both got a rock to the shin for that, as well as a stern, “Don’t compare me to Twinkle Toes and his girly methods!”
But, sucky as it was, Toph had to admit, Zuko had a point. She tried to break out of the habit, tried to be grounded like her ancestors were, like her people had a tendency to be. Yet she has always been the type to crave adventure, to crave something new.
Still. She’s stubborn. That is an Earth Native trait. So the letter sits, unanswered on her dining room table. It’s the end of the week before it’s noticed again. This time instead of the slender, white hands of her apprentice, it is touched by working hands. They are calloused, rough, scarred. And dark. She doesn’t know what dark looks like, but she does know that he’s it.
His visit comes as a surprise; yet it’s change, so she welcomes him openly. Sokka’s footsteps are a little more tired than they were during his last encounter with his best friend, and from what she can tell, he’s taller. He’s lost some weight. But that’s the extent of the differences. At least, from what she can sense.
Yet she knows it is him before he’s even knocked on the door.
She acts on impulse; she can’t help it. When it comes to Sokka, Toph has always been hard pressed to control her actions. She sprints through her house, narrowly avoiding running into people or knocking things over. “Sifu Toph!” One of them cries out, dancing around her as she teeters plates in her hands. Toph bends a seat behind her, catching the girl just as she falls.
“Watch where you’re going!” Toph calls over her shoulder, but it’s well natured. The girl only rolls her eyes (something Toph can’t see, but wouldn’t be surprised to hear). Screeching to a halt at the door, Toph throws it open most unceremoniously, revealing Sokka standing there, hand poised to knock on her door. “Sokka!” She grins at him, “what are you doing here?”
He blinks twice, then drops his hand. If Katara or Aang were here, they might have exchanged a hug, but with just them, they simply stare at each other instead, grinning from ear to ear. It’s strange, two best friends who don’t touch each other like that unless other people are around. She wonders what Katara would think. “How’d you know I was here?”
“I would recognize your clumsy ass footsteps anywhere.”
“It’s good to hear you’re obsessed with me, even after all these years.” He teases her, expecting full-well to get punched in the arm. She doesn’t disappoint. Allowing him inside, she falls silent, waiting for Sokka to answer her.
He stretches as they breeze past servants, heading for her dining room, where lunch is soon to be served. Today is a resting day, hence why she’s not working her students to a pulp. Whether Sokka knew this, or it had just been luck, is something Toph is unsure of. “Do you know of a village named Makapu?”
There’s a faraway ringing of familiarization in the back of Toph’s mind, but nothing comes to the forefront. “Nah. Why?”
Sokka’s eyebrows curl together. “That’s weird. You should have gotten a letter. No wonder you missed your train.”
Toph settles down at the table. “Huh?”
“We waited for you this whole week and you never showed, so I grabbed Appa and dipped to get you.”
Now Toph is thoroughly confused. “What the fuck are you talking about? Who’s we? And I never sensed Appa.”
Sokka rolls his eyes. “That’s because there was no room for him to land in this crowded almost-city of yours. He’s on the outskirts, with Zuko.”
“Sparky?!”
“Spirits, I can’t believe you didn’t get that letter.” Sokka sits down next to her and pinches his nose. Peering at her messy table, he begins to idly sort through her mail until he sees a letter in familiar wording. “What the fuck,” Sokka says, tone accusatory, “you lied to me! You did get it! You even opened it!”
“Hell no I didn’t,” Toph denies. “I would’ve remembered a letter with your names in it.”
“Madame Bei Fong,” Sokka reads, “The people of Makapu Village hereby formally invite you to...” he trails off. “These dumbasses. They didn’t mention us, or the train already booked for you.”
“Sokka.”
“What?”
“What the hell are you talking about.”
“Katara, Aang, Zuko, and I were on our way to get you so we could go to Ba Sing Sei.”
“As planned.”
“Yeah.” Sokka nods, “anyways. We stopped in Makapu, a place where Katara and Aang and I had stopped a long time ago, before you and Zuko. We – er, well, Aang – saved the place from a volcanic eruption. Since we were there, we figured we might as well fortify their protection, and we called on you for help. But you never answered, so Zuko and I came to get you.”
“I see.” Toph tilts her head, considering. Leaving now would leave no one in charge of her students; it would break her out of her routine. Already, with the upcoming trip to Ba Sing Sei, she’d prepared meticulously. The sudden change would overthrow all her old preparations.
Next to her, Toph can sense Sokka staring at her. His breathing is even; he’s leaning towards her, expectant. She wonders, not for the first time, what her best friend looks like.
To be steady, or to veer off course.
To veer off course, or to be steady.
“Hey,” Sokka’s voice is soft. “Come with me. I’ve missed you.”
Fuck.
She swallows, hiding her face from him.
Distantly, Toph supposes that even the earth moves unsteadily at times; after all, isn’t that how earthquakes are caused?
“Let me get my stuff,” she grumbles, and the whoop of happiness Sokka lets out makes it all worth it.

Hamilton High School AU 27
“I want to make a campaign for an art class at school, for John. I know we're seniors, but I think it'd mean a lot for him... When we were talking, he told me about how he hates that there's no art program and that the only reason he really accepts those commissions at school is to add some color."
Lafayette smiled and pulled out an outfit. "I think that would be a sweet thing to do for him. I don't doubt that he'd love it." He showed him the blue shirt that he wore to the art gallery and a pair of dark jeans. "How's this? This is your only formal shirt. Maybe with some Converse?"
"That's fine." He nodded. "Thanks, Laf." He paused for a second. "Hey.. Do you want to hang out? We could watch a movie or play some GTA or something."
Lafayette smiled widely. Alexander never asked to hang out before. "That sounds great. You can choose whatever we do."
Alexander nodded. "Well.. We can watch Heathers? I've got a lot of bootlegs on my laptop."
"That sounds great! Or, maybe... Have you ever watched Sweeney Todd? I found a professional recording of it."
Lafayette? The guy who spoiled his kitten and wore bows in his hair when he was younger, like Sweeney Todd? Alexander supposed he shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. After all, most people probably wouldn't have guessed that he was a Heathers fan. "I've only seen the movie, but sure."
He scrunched up his nose. "The movie is nowhere near as good as the live performance that I have, in my opinion."
"Okay, I'll take your word on it."
Lafayette smiled and went to his room, crouching down as he opened the door and cooing at Rosie. "Hi, baby! I'm here early!"
Rosie bounded across the room to Lafayette excitedly, like it was the first time she'd seen him in years. She leaped up so quickly, she tripped over the edge of her basket with a little thud on the floor. Not that it stopped her dashing however. Lafayette hadn't had Rosie particularly long, but she already knew who her 'parent' was. She purred against his leg affectionately.
He smiled and pet between her ears, then scooped her up, kissing the top of her head. "I missed you too. Let's go hang out with Alex."
She meowed in response and watched as Lafayette grabbed his laptop, bringing it to Alexander's room.
He sat down beside him and put on the musical, smiling as the music began. "Do you mind if I bring Rosie here?.."
"No, of course not, as long as I can hold her."
"Oh, of course." Lafayette handed her over and she purred just as affectionately as Alexander held her.
Alexander hardly paid attention to the show, too busy playing with the tiny kitten in his lap and listening to Lafayette hum along. He really was talented and there was no surprise that he was going to star in the school musical, though it did surprise him to hear for himself just how high Lafayette's voice went. "So, why is everyone so chill about all of the death?"
Lafayette chuckled. "Well, if you were actually paying attention, you would know that these two, Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett, are the only ones that even know about it. Sweeney's obviously the murderer and his victims are used in her pies."
"Well, I'm sorry your fluffy heathen is toying with my heart."
"Meow!"
"Yeah, you." He chuckled, then grinned. "So, what you're saying is... Their pies are to die for?"
He rolled his eyes at the awful pun. "Yes, I guess you could say that." He smiled. "The ones made with priests are heavenly. The lawyers are nice, if they're for a price. And Beadle isn't bad 'til you smell it and notice how well its been greased. My advice is to stick to priest." Of course, Lafayette was quoting the pun filled song, "A Little Priest," but Alexander clearly wouldn't have known that.
And, as expected, Alexander broke into a fit of giggles at the pun. After all of the drama of the past few days, he was able to just laugh and be happy and it only helped that he was eating better and that he actually took his medicine.
Lafayette was more than glad to see him so happy.
But he knew things could've been better. He pulled out his phone and texted John, who should've just been getting off of school. [hEy!] [todays not been 2 sucky] [watchin musikals w/Laf] [wana join? iv got a cuddle heer w/ your naem onit 😘]
John sighed as he read the text, walking with Herc to the shop. [Sorry, I wish I could, but I got detention : (] [Adams made Jefferson 'apologize' and I told him to fuck off.] [I'll try to go afterwards, I promise.] [I love you.]
"Are you sure you're up for this?.. I won't be offended if you're not."
"I'll be fine." He looked at his phone as Alexander responded.
[awwww :( remind me 2 beet his ass wen im bac in] [i love u too <3] Alexander sighed and looked at Lafayette. "He's got detention. Because of stupid Jefferson, too. I hate that guy."
[I won't, but I'll happily beat his ass for you.]
Alexander smiled a bit at the response. "Well... At least we can still watch musicals. Oh! I have an idea." He reached down and grabbed a box from under his bed. At first glance, it looked like a normal box of mementos and pictures... Then he pulled out a bottle of vodka. "Don't tell mom and pop."
Lafayette chuckled and shook his head. "As fun as that sounds, going to school hungover doesn't."
Alexander tutted. He knew Lafayette was right. "Okay. Let's watch Be More Chill."
John sighed as he dropped his bag behind the till in the shop, watching Herc get ready. "Alright, I'm already ready for this to be over," he half-joked.
"Me too. Last chance, John. You don't have to be here."
He shook his head. "I want to."
"Okay.." Herc sighed as he heard the unmistakable bell ring and turned to see Jefferson walk in with his friend, John Jay. He'd only really seen him around Jefferson and knew he was a shy guy.
John slipped into the big, spinning chair behind the till and turned away from everyone, simply listening as Hercules worked with them.
"What are you looking for?" Hercules droned.
"Where's your usual pep, Mulligan?" Thomas teased.
"What can I do for you today, gentlemen?" Hercules added, voice dripping with optimistic sarcasm. John Jay snickered.
"Prom suits." Thomas replied with a little grumble.
"Er, nothing flashy..." John added, causing Thomas to tut.
"ONLY flashy, JJ..." Thomas corrected him.
Hercules rolled his eyes and let the pair watch as he picked out a suit, able to tell their sizes at a glance.
"I like that one," Jay told him.
Hercules nodded and gave him the one he was referring to.
John Jay thanked him and walked towards the back, following his directions to the changing room. "Hi, John." He realized that he shouldn't have said that only after he saw him cringe. "Sorry.."
"It's fine.."
Jay ducked into the changing room as Thomas grinned over at John as he turned around, figuring there was no point in hiding anymore.
"Just the babe I wanted to see. Still have my number?"
John ignored him, putting in his earphones, and Hercules tried to distract him.
"If by flashy, you mean glitz and glam, we've got an array of sequined suits-"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, so Johnny, tell me-"
"As well as matching ties, bows and shoes that go well with them-"
"That's nice. Baby, why don't you-"
"And to top it off, we've got a sale on matching cuff links and ties, so you could even match them up for a reduced price-"
"Hey Jerkules, I'm trying to talk to-"
"There's also tailed suits and with matching heels, if you're into that sort of thing as well."
Thomas looked like he was going to smack Hercules, like steam would start pouring out of his ears in frustration. "..I want a model." He gritted.
"Hmm... let's see... there's just me running the shop today... and I'm a completely different size to you... so I guess there's none available." He hummed. The most frustrating thing was Hercules was technically not doing anything. Sure, he was being a bit more brash than usual, but all he was doing was selling. Thomas wouldn't even be able to leave a bad review.
"..what do you think?" Jay asked nervously as he returned from the changing room. Hercules certainly had a talent for picking the right outfit for the right person. The pale blue matched Jay's aesthetic perfectly. Even the size was dead on flawless. Jay looked pretty charming... unlike his friend who looked like he'd erupt at any moment.
"Looks great." Hercules smiled... somewhat cheekily. He was going to milk the moment. "I was /just/ saying to Thomas how we have a sale on matching cuff links and ties if you wanted to look at those."
Jay opened his mouth to answer but shut it when he caught sight of Thomas' glaring. "...s'fine." He concluded instead.
Thomas pushed passed Hercules as to stand over John, yanking out his headphone. "If you want to strike a deal, then you have to talk to me." He snapped. "Or should I discuss it with Alex instead?"
"...who's Alex?" Jay queried, raising a brow.
"The guy I added on your Facebook earlier."
John flinched and sighed, shoving his phone into his pocket and snatching his headphones back from Thomas. "First of all, ouch. I don't appreciate you yanking my earphones out. Second," he looked over at Jay and smiled. "You look good, Jay. That's definitely your color." He gave him a thumbs up, then turned back to Thomas. "Third of all, if you even want to /think/ about ever having me back, you will not lay a hand on Alex. Or Laf. Or Herc. Overall, don't get your hopes up. You're still the last person I'd ever sleep with." He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned farther back in his chair. "Didn't you want a model or something?"
Thomas nodded. "Well, can't go to prom without a prom date."
"No. You already tortured Laf enough."
Thomas rolled his eyes at Hercules's protests. "Oh, come on. You know this place can't survive without me."
Hercules hated to admit it, but he knew he was right. As popular as his parents were in Ireland, almost none of that was in New York. Just a few bad reviews and the shop would have to shut down, sending them back to Ireland.
Jay shifted his weight from foot to foot awkwardly, just trying to avoid the conflict that was brewing. Sure, he knew what Thomas was capable of, but that didn't mean he was like him. "Maybe some of those suits over there?.." He pointed at a rack.
John sighed. "I offered. I'll do it. Thanks, Jay." He gave him a small smile, then returned to glaring at Thomas. "I don't know why he hangs out with you. He's way too nice for you."
Thomas rolled his eyes. Jay was a nice guy, he knew that, and he wasn't going to drag him into this.
Hercules led him away and John stood up.
"Alright. What am I trying on first?"
"Let's see.." He went to the racks and picked out a light pink tux, one that looked just a size smaller than John. "Try this."
"Whatever." He took the suit and went to the changing room, glad that it fit him right. He went back out and stood on the pedestal.
Thomas lit up at the sight, especially knowing that John was in no position to do anything about it. He stepped towards him and straightened out the suit a bit, then cupped John's cheek. "You know, last time I got this close to you, you punched me." He almost looked sincere.
But John knew better. "You earned it."
"Yeah, yeah. Go change." He gave John another outfit, this time a dress.
He tutted and took it, going to the dressing room and getting changed. He came back out after a few minutes in the deep pink, knee length dress and distracted himself by wondering how many sequins were even on the dress as Thomas approached him again.
"Don't you look adorable?" he hummed. "You should wear some more dresses. Speaking of which," he gave John another hanger. "Try this on for size."
John rolled his eyes and changed into the dress, which was noticeably tighter. He was doing this for Alexander, he reminded himself, the same Alexander who was texting him.
[hey! me n laf r watin]
[Sorry, but I have something to take care of with Madison. I'm already out. : (] [I'll text you when I can see you, I'm sorry.]
[Aw, tat suks : (]
He went back out, clutching the light blue and jeweled fabric, and stood on the pedestal, blushing and hoping that his boxers were high enough to not be noticed.
"Phone away. Alexander isn't here. It's just you and me."
John tutted and put his phone down.
"Good boy."
Across the shop, John Jay and Herc were just finishing up.
"Thanks for everything, Herc."
"Just doing my job." He smiled, then glanced up and frowned at John and Thomas. "Aw, Jack.." he muttered.
Jay glanced over as well and frowned. "Hey, Thomas, my mom's expecting me home soon. You're my ride home, maybe we should go.."
Thomas shook his head. "Just one more, JJ."
"Come on, Thomas. You're not even looking at any suits."
"Alright, fine." He sighed and went to Herc, paying for his time, before going back and getting his coat, smacking John's behind as he passed by.
John jumped and ducked into the changing room, quickly getting back into his own clothes, and sitting against the wall.
"Get out of here, pervert," Hercules grumbled at Thomas.
"Same time next week?" he smirked.
"Let's just go, Thomas.." Jay muttered, walking out with him.

Do You Ever Regret It pt 2
Tumblr media
I slammed my apartment door shut. I’m sure my neighbors think I’m a freaking maniac, if they haven’t already thought that. I sort of have this reputation in my building for being, bitter. Being dean of Psychology, as a POC woman, In Seoul. I have to be on top of things! RBF game strong okay! Sometimes it gets difficult to return to my normal self once I clock out for the day.
Anyways, when I told Namjoon I had a meeting to prepare for, I wasn’t lying, but I’m pissed I even went to go see him the night before it! How am I supposed to focus on my notes when that idiot is all I can think about? I should’ve gone with my first mind and went home. I knew seeing him again would bring back some unwanted feelings. I ain’t got time for it. I just need some air, to breathe and regroup. Oh, and wine. Wine always does the trick!
“I feel that this year for this new course should go more in depth about James B Watson, who was the first found Behaviorism and-“ I spoke glancing at my assistant as she cleared her throat nodding at the clock, “Oh you know what, this meeting seems to running a little late, so let’s continue this Friday.”  Everyone gathered their belongings and headed out the door while I stayed behind.
“You don’t seem much like yourself today Ms. Y/L/N.” My assistant Jae Eun stated.
I glanced quickly at her before falling into my chair. “I told you to call me Y/N you can drop the formalities, but girl you don’t even know the half of it.”
Jae Eun shifted a bit uncomfortably, “Okay, Y/N. Do you want to talk about it? You were uncharacteristically distracted during this meeting.”
I debated about telling her or not. She’s been with me for a few years now, a lovely assistant she is and I trust her, but Thou-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named is famous now and I don’t need static. “Eh..So years ago I was with a man. He had such a passion for music and was able to fulfill his dreams and along the journey he dropped me and now he’s back, but I ain’t feeling it.”
“Ah I see,” She nodded, “I can understand your frustration. I actually dealt with a similar situation, but I decided to let go.”
“Let go? What do you mean?” I side eyed her. How could I let go of that?
“You can’t be mad at him forever. Being mad or upset will just zap the energy out of you.” I mean she wasn’t wrong. It’s only been a day and I’m extremely exhausted.
“I mean he came back for a reason right?” Jae Eun reasoned, “Why not get your closure. You can’t let go if you don’t talk it out.” She gave a warm smile, “I actually have some paper work to catch up on. I’ll catch you later okay?”
“See ya.”
I can’t believe a child gave me advice about my love life, but she was definitely wiser than me in this situation. It’s been three days since that conversation with Jae Eun and four since I’ve spoken to Thou-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. Jae Eun’s words keep swarming around my head and I can’t shake them. I mean, He was the one who started it. He is the cause of all of it!  But do I have to let it continue? I can end it with just a conversation. Yo conscious shut up. He started it, therefore he needs to apologize first! How do you know he didn’t want to apologize a few days ago?  I-. For a dean of psych you sure are childish. ‘Ight think we’re done here.
The sound of power sounded through the halls as my heels clicked against the floor. Despite my usual distain for handling paper work, I was looking forward to it. I have quite a bit of things to catch up on and a distraction. It’s a win/win situation.
“Good morning Jae Eun!” I chirped walking past her desk. “Morning M- Y/N!” She backtracked pushing up her glasses, “Oh! There is someone who wanted to see you he’s-“
“Tell him I’ll be with him in a moment.” I responded continuing walking to my office.
“No, you don’t understand it’s-”
I opened the doors to my office only to find Him leaning against my desk. Narrowing my eyes I rolled head back to Jae Eun, who looked insanely guilty with her brows furrowed and head bowed. She constantly mumbled apologizies before I decided I would deal with her later. I closed the door continuing walking over to my desk and sat down getting ready to work. I felt the heavy gaze of Namjoon as he carefully watched my every move.
“Is there something you need Mr. Kim? I’m quite busy today.” I asked without giving him a glance. When I didn’t get a response I looked up at him (which was probably the dumbest thing I could have done because he is still gorgeous as ever). He takes a seat on one of the chairs in front of my desk before speaking.
“Please don’t interrupt me,” he sighs, “I messed up.”
“Clearly.” Namjoon’s eyes flicker to meet mine in a way that tells me to not test him with my attitude, so I decide to be quiet.
“I never should have lost contact with you, but my time was always consumed my work. It seemed like there was never time for my family, you, myself- there was no time for anyone. I felt that if things were that intense then it would only amplify once we debuted. So, I reasoned you were better off without me. You needed someone who would give you all the attention and care that you needed. I set you free.”
“You’re such an idiot Namjoon,” I stood up and walked around my desk to stand in front of him. Slowly he rose up, his figure towering over me. “I love you. I only want you. I waited for you like you asked me to because I love you!” I mentally slapped myself for my voice cracking during that declaration.
“You still love me?” Namjoon’s gaze held mine. Those chocolate eyes filled with intense love and adoration for me was too much for me to take in at that moment, so I adverted my eyes to the ground. “You still love me?” He repeated. This time his hand gently held my chin bringing my eyes up to him.
“Joonie, I never stopped.” I murmured. Trying to blink back the hot tears threatening to fall. That’s when I felt a pair of soft plush lips against my own, and like second nature to our body’s my arms wrapped around his neck and his around my hips. My hand slowly began to play with his long blonde strands that had grown out. We pulled from the kiss completely winded. Chests heaving trying to catch the air we lost. He attacks me with kisses all over my face murmuring I-love-yous and I-miss-you in between each one.
“Do you ever regret it?” The words slipped out before I even had a second thought.
“Regret what?” He asked.
“Leaving me.” I whispered. Despite his reasoning, I still felt a little insecure. I needed to know. Namjoon took a breath before hugging me around my waist. Looking directly into my eyes he said,
“I don’t. I don’t regret following my dreams, but I do regret not making it work while I was gone. I regret not talking to you about it first and jumping to my own conclusions. I shouldn’t have cut myself from you. I am truly sorry. From the bottom of my heart I am deeply sorry. If you will let me, I want to start over.”
“Let’s start over.” I smiled.
“Great,” He smiled back at me, “Let’s go to our place for lunch. My treat!”
Before I could respond the door busted open, “Miss. Y/N – oh am I interrupting?” I forgot Jae Eun was the reason Namjoon was even here.
“Nope, we’re going out for lunch. If anybody needs me tell them I’ll be out for an hour.” I instructed.
“Yes Miss Y/N”. Jae Eun nodded as we walked out my office. While Namjoon wasn’t looking I turned back to her,
“You’re not off the hook Missy!” I hissed playfully.
Jae Eun chuckled nervously, scratching the back of her neck. “Leave the poor girl alone Y/N, she only wanted to help. C’mon we got a lot of catching up to do!” Namjoon sang dragging me off to lunch with him. I looked back at Jae Eun to only winked at me. He was right. I owe her big time.
