No Dick Grayson AU

Alfred convinces Tatsu Yamashiro(Katana) and Dinah Lance(Black Canary) to join Batman's crusade when it starts getting difficult for him to handle crime on his own. Katana brings Barbara Gordon into the fold as Oracle because Barbara is determined to help the vigilantes.

A few years later, Bruce joins the Justice League(Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern). Dinah moves to Star City, and Katana disappears. Barbara starts to join Batman on patrols.

About a year later, Batman brings Jason Todd home. Jason tries to join Batman as a vigilante, but Bruce, Alfred, and Barbara convince him to wait until he's an adult. Bruce agrees to train him until then.

Jason starts helping Barbara with coms, Alfred with making sure they have the medbay fully stocked, and Bruce and Lucius with Wayne Enterprise Charities. Jason, as the top student, graduates a year early(age 16/17 since his b-day's in march) and goes on a world tour for extra training. He gets sucked into training with the League of Assassins, but leaves rather quickly via Talia tossing him to the All-Caste since Bruce knows where he is. He returns to Gotham as the vigilante Flamebat as a nod to his All-Blades and the dark red and black costume he created. As the All-Blades don't harm any non-magical being, he normally uses them when he wants to be dramatic or particularly threatening.

Barbara does get shot by Joker before Jason goes on tour and loses the ability to walk.

Steph also appears (at 15) on the vigilante scene briefly, but is talked out of it by Barbara and disappears for a while. When she gets back she decides to go out as Spoiler. When the others are unable to convince her to wait until she's at least 17 to start being a vigilante, Cass (as she's about 1 year older) is declared to be her patrol partner. (this happens just before Jason leaves)

Cass shows up a bit after Steph does. She's found by Barbara and is convinced to wait until she's at least 17 to start vigilantism. Bruce adopts her pretty quickly and gives her the tools to figure out who she is without the violence of being an assassin or a vigilante.

About a year after Jason returns, Damian (age 10) appears in the Bat's lives. He continuously sneaks out of the manor to prove that he's worthy and ready to become a vigilante and follow in his father's footsteps.

When Bruce disappears, Jason takes on the responsibilities of being Batman and CEO of Wayne Enterprise. Cass and Alfred take on the role of being Damian's primary caretakers. Tim figures out that Bruce is still alive after getting "lost" in Wayne Manor during a gala, and leaves an anonymous tip about it for the Bats to find. (Tim doesn't know that they're the Bats, just that somehow Bruce ended up in the past.)

After Bruce comes back, things mostly go back to how they were before. Except, they catch wind of a group of child vigilantes. Beast Boy (age 13), Blue Beetle (14), Impulse (16), and Raven (13). When interrogated, the adult heroes find out that: Beast Boy had joined a group called the Doom Patrol and been with them since he was 11 but left because of conflicting morals, then run into Raven and Impulse; Blue Beetle had been doing superhero stuff for a few months before he ran into the other three; Raven had been picked up by Beast Boy while running from a cult that wanted to use her to summon a demon; and Impulse is the one who pulled the group together to help prevent a future event from happening. Not knowing exactly what to do with the group of child heroes, they put Kon (aka Superboy; 17) and Spoiler (18) in charge of the group that's now called Young Justice.

Around half a year later, Damian(11 almost 12) joins the group along with Jon (Superboy; 12).

They also find out somewhere along the way that Billy Batson was 10 years old when he started superhero-ing.

I love favoriting GO metas that develop the Ineffable couple's relationship/situationship/cockup, especially ones that highlight that yes, both of them need to develop their communication skills together, get on the same page, and that doesn't pin the blame on just one Celestial; they both effed up royally in the Final 15 in their own ways...

I just wish everyone knew that neither one wanted this outcome, but because of a deadly combination of both of their collective traumas and the powers that scarred them... we got what we got. Now, we'll just have to wait and see what Mr. Gaiman will do with the fallout...

A frown took on his face was immediately visible, looking around for a moment before he snuck off to his partner. "Hey, love. Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything?" Smiling at his lover, ignoring the stranger as he cut them off mid flirting.

"Hm, doing better now with you're here. The team is doing great, " smiling at him, happily answering with the person now feeling awkward and walking off silently. "Mhm, I'll be back later." Moving back on to court where Kuroo hit his shoulder with a good laugh, being proud of him for standing up.

There was a break between the sets, and he wanted to spend time with his lover now when he had the moment. Now, when waddling closer, there was a clearly unpleasant expression on your face.

His famous grin turned down along with his eyes narrowing, walking up to you anyway with a slight speed in his steps. "It's kind of cold, don't you think?" Asking you out of the blue, cutting the person off. Taking his jacket and placing it around your shoulder with a kiss on your forehead, wrapping an arm around your shoulders as he sat down.

Looking at the person acting oblivious, "Oh hey, you were saying?" Only making them shake their head and walk away quickly. You laugh at this interaction. "Thank you, Tatsu"

He had sent you a few small waves throughout but wanted to wait until the end to talk to you, but plans got changed when bokuto pointed something out to him. "Akaashi? I think someone is flirting with {Nick-Name}." Which he looked over. "Hmm." Luckily, there was a short 5 minute break for the moment.

"Is everything okay, lovey?" Speaking in his calm, collected tone. Wrapping an arm around your waist. "Yeah, even better with you here." Smiling up at Akaashi. With the stranger now feeling rather awkward so they walked away without much of a word.

"Thank you, they wouldn't listen to me." You mumbled appreciating the aid. "You did good out there, ashi." He appreciated your compliment with a nod, "Thanks, I should get back now." Kissing your cheek, taking his jacket off, and lending it to you before he jogs back to the team.

He'd won a round and celebrating amongst his team even tho there were still maybe 2 more rounds, looking for you immediately after wanting to hear what you thought of his performance.

He felt a ping of pain immediately when seeing someone else talk to you in that way. Shaking it off his mind as he jogged up to you since you'd be sat with the benches near where his game was. Placing both hands on your shoulders with a not so happy expression, the stranger finally noticed the tall volleyball player.

"Uh... I should leave." Could be missed if you blinked, then they we're gone. "Kou, you did amazing." Looking up at him from where you sat. "Jealous?" You cood lightly as he stumbled and shook his head. "Me? Never." Crossing his arms with a pout.

He forces himself to listen. He forces himself to listens to the punishing call for the little boy who has run too far in a game of tag, the desperate cry for the young man who has run too far to ever return.

Is this what I have done to you?

He can't blame her for still chasing after him, or for thinking nothing has changed. After all, the last memory he gave was one of young eyes and dark hair she shielded her whole life. It was that little boy's fragile innocence she guarded from the closed doors where he was born; the closed doors of rough nights and rougher hands, where men bruised her dignity in secret to uphold their own in public.

She doesn't know better than to stop. He can't blame her, either. She has spent 15 years doing nothing but protecting him -- now it was all she knew to do. I offered @mintrhine, one of the Helvetia players, to help write his NPC Yamasaki "Snakebite" Ryumi from the background of his PC Tatsu/Kensuke in a play-by-post/open roleplay kind of situation. This is an unedited segment of what I've written for that! I thought it'll be nice to explore this aspect of him to add another dimension to him.

As evidenced by my writing project @sparrow-flight, I treat these as writing practice and I kinda put my braincells into this part that reads like a tiny character sketch/exploration, so why not put it up here? I should put up more writing here, anyway, even if they're nothing too neat but short and sweet! I think the door metaphor that mirrors reality is alright, and I also like the last paragraph full of puns. Double meanings brr (I wrote this while walking home from a midterm and then squatting in my bedroom)

I also tried putting 3 different levels of saying 'I love you' in Japanese in increasing order of meaningfulness/intensity? I don't speak the language so feel free to let me know if it doesn't work!

Future Diary "The Live World": Part 3!

As mentioned in my last post, this part will go over the creation of 12th's costume for "The Live World" concert. First, we have the following post from Yoshihisa Kawahara (12th's VA):

Yesterday, on the 29th, I participated at the event “Future Diary The Live World” held at Shibuya AX ♪ I want to thank my fellow members of the Future Diary cast, the absolutely wonderful artists and all the staff who supported us from behind the scenes! And as always… my biggest thanks go to everyone in the audience! Even though it’s been a long time since the broadcast ended, so many people came… I truly have nothing but words of gratitude for everyone! It was the best night ever, all I could feel was: “wow, the work I was involved in is so loved!” The warm cheers from the audience is something I’m very grateful for!! I’m not like Murata-chan, but I almost felt a little teary-eyed. At times like this, I wish I could say something clever or straightforward, but right now… all I can express is my gratitude. To everyone in the audience, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I even said this at the event, but I sincerely hope that we’re able to meet again, in a bright future ahead. I wish I could write a fun insider report on the event, but I was so busy with this and that on the day that I don’t have any details I can show for it…  Instead, I’ll write a rough summary of the day. My thoughts were something like… “Murata-chan and Togashi-chan really did their best as the leads!”  “Minoru-san did amazing as both a singer and an MC” (he actually helped me a lot as a first-time MC) “Aizawa-chan looked adorable in that girlish dress.”  “OLDCODEX looked great… wait, huh? Tatsu (lead singer) is so… *swoon*” That sort of stuff. HAHAHA, these sound like a child’s thoughts, don’t they? But seriously… I’m sorry I couldn’t give a proper report of the day. I regret not being able to properly listen to all the wonderful artists (^-^;). I wish I could hear them sing again! Ah, anyway, going back to me… to be honest, just hearing the phrase “singing in public” makes my knees shake, it gives me dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath, almost makes me wet myself, because I’m so bad at it… So when they asked me to sing at Future Diary The Live World, I felt my soul ascend (a.k.a. I thought I was gonna die (/j lol)).  After all, don’t you think that having me stand on a stage next to professional singers would feel like hell? We’re like night and day, you know? Is this a display of public humiliation? In front of the entire audience at Shibuya AX, no less. What do they want from me? What do they want me to do? Kiss someone? Take a bath? Or do they… just.want.me?  AHHHHH! Wait, wait… I just… don’t know how to give the audience what they want!! And so, after many hours of agony and slight (?) confusion… I arrived at the answer.  Huh? Where? HERE!! (Photo of his 12th cosplay.) Since I’m not a good singer, I thought: “I have to go all out!” to make sure everyone enjoys my performance, so I decided to cosplay the 12th, Hirasaka Yomotsu, at the concert. I-I wonder if everyone liked it (worried). I hope they did. Speaking of the 12th’s costume… I would like to mention that I couldn’t have completed it without the help of true allies of justice. First of all, this incredibly well-crafted belt was handmade by no other than… Future Diary’s screenwriter, Takayama Katsuhiko-san. When we were recording the last part of Future Diary, he approached me and said: “I’ll make you the belt if you do the cosplay at the concert, okay?” so I took his word and asked him to make the belt before the event… (Photo of the belt) It looks amazing, doesn’t it? Whoa! He actually made it based on the original design!

“I molded it with Sculpey on a base cut from aluminum, and added a reflective red plate to make it shine like a light!” Takayama-san said it so nonchalantly… I wonder how he, a screenwriter, can have so many amazing skills. (Murmuring) He’s a scary guy (^-^;). Isn’t he? This is the kind of thing where you say: “I’ll pay for it, with cash!!” or “at least let me cover the production costs!” But no matter what I said, he firmly refused, telling me: “it’s fine, I made it with materials I had on hand!”… it made me feel so guilty, I had trouble sleeping at night. Thank you so much, Takayama-san! This will become a family heirloom!  Now, as for the 12th’s head… it was made by our cosplay director: Natsuhi Rinko-chan! Despite being busy with other things, she did an amazing job creating the head from a styrofoam ball and other materials. It all started with our manager asking one of our talents: “are you going to cosplay? We have someone who knows all about that stuff.” I honestly thought: “they’ll make a small cosplay, they won’t go as far as to make headgear, right?” I wasn’t very convinced (haha).  But then Natsuhi-chan went: “my cosplay will be used at an official event! AHH!” and crafted it with a lot of joy… she’s such a sweetheart. I’ll have to treat her to a nice meal next time ♪ Natsuhi-chan is a very lively and talented girl, so I’d be happy if you’d support her work ( ´ ▽ ` )!! I was thinking of adding more photos here… but I was so distracted at the event, all I took were pictures of a very excited Natsuhi-chan (lol). Anyway, that’s a quick rundown of the costume I wore. If I have any other stories about the concert, I’ll write them later!  PS I bought the leather boots at the concert since they were on sale… And my heroic black bodysuit IS MY PERSONAL PROPERTY!!

Lastly, we fortunately have the photos of the belt and a description of how it was made thanks to this blog post from Katsuhiko Takayama (Future Diary's screenwriter):

I was commissioned by Kawahara Yoshihisa to make the 12th's transformation belt for the upcoming event: “Future Diary - The Live World,” being held at Shibuya AX on Sunday, July 29th.

It’s a 50 mm-wide gray, nylon belt with a plastic buckle, that I modeled with Super Sculpey clay over an aluminum base. The piping was made with aluminum tubes, as well as the decorations, which I made out of aluminum pipes, cutting the pieces and crimping them onto the belt. With projects like this, I rarely use Sculpey clay for the finish, but it was all I had on hand, and given the time constraints, it was the best option I had. I fixed bolts onto the belt plate to keep the clay from falling off of the aluminum base. I used pink-colored resin for the center. If I had used clear resin on top of the red, it would’ve looked more realistic, but too dark, so I painted the back and the edges silver to make it brighter. When the lights hit it on stage, it will have a more unique color that otherwise wouldn’t come through with just the red paint.

If the time and number of performances was plenty, or the rehearsal time was long, I could’ve made a mold and then created an FRP or rubber protection, to make the model more durable. I also thought of making a spare belt, but given this was a one-time performance and a personal commission from Kawahara-san, I decided to make this a simpler, less costly project.  I also thought of painting different shades of gray to match the color scheme, but since this was for a stage performance, I went with a metallic finish instead. The finish doesn’t look very neat from up-close, but on stage, the reflection of the light emphasizes the metallic effect, giving it a more realistic feel as opposed to a costume. It looks like a prop that a superhero from a comic or movie made himself. This kind of stuff is really fun to make. 

For the first time in my life, I sent out flowers. But, the producer from Kadokawa (Itou) and the producer from Lantis (Saitou) told me with a smile that my job isn’t so much of an executive position, but a social one. Apparently, I should have written my job description as “screenwriter” rather than “series composition.” You live and you learn, I guess.

Everyone was shining on stage! ☆ The cast’s singing was amazing, and I was really happy to hear the OP and ED live as well. This was also my first time seeing Hata Aki-san (singer for 3rd and 6th’s themes) perform, and it was completely captivating. It gave me goosebumps! After the show, I met up with Togashi-san, Aizawa-san, Kawahara-san and Shiraishi-san (*^^*) Everyone was shining on stage! ☆ The cast’s singing was amazing, and I was really happy to hear the OP and ED live as well. Kawahara-san sang in a 12th cosplay, which was also very exciting (lol). It was a wonderful concert… I hope to see a character song-themed concert for “Upotte!!” as well. You may be wondering why I'm including her in a post supposedly about the 12th... and well, there's a good reason for that.

This is Yoshihisa's wife, whom he married in 2017.

Now, they both knew each other way before the concert (at least since 2011, because they worked together on Nichijou), but there is something so funny to me about the fact that Yoshihisa, unknowingly, cosplayed the 12th in front of his future wife. And in reverse, that was her future husband she was seeing dressed up as a delulu eyeball man.

And honestly? Love that for them.

Now you know fellas, the best way to court a lady is to transform into a mentally ill power ranger with an affinity for dancing in tights (lol).

Hi! About your Favorite Villain post- I love thinking about the possibilities within the vague history we’re presented about the clans and how the hate of their forefathers became Shredders and Splinter’s. And not only that, but how Tang Shen figures into this version of the story.

We don’t know how long the whole love triangle has been going on (though we’re led to assume it’s been years), but we know Tang Shen was with Oroku Saki at some point before leaving him (and when Saki tried to convince her to “take him back”, he tells her he’s changed, so read into that what you will) and that she didn’t fit in as much with all the clan stuff.

I think, depending on how long it had been between the time of her breakup with Saki and getting together with Yoshi/becoming pregnant with Miwa, there could have been a point where Saki might wonder if Miwa could potentially be his daughter instead of Yoshi’s, but I also think his complete willingness to take in Tang Shen and Miwa despite her being Yoshi’s daughter isn’t really OOC considering Shredder’s penchant for taking in strays (Tigerclaw, Xever, Hattori Tatsu, etc) and his own mirrored history of being “adopted”

There’s also the long game thing you mentioned which is so fun to think about. Because that makes him offering to go with Tang Shen to NY a lie. A false offer to get her to leave Yoshi before trapping her in Japan anyway to fulfill his quest to avenge and rebuild the Foot

Though she’s still a fairly passive voice in the story, she actually has wants and opinions that she tells to Yoshi and Saki. Again, she doesn’t have much backstory beyond them, but her character lives in my brainnnnn

Yesss you totally get it!! There's literally so many options, so many ways it could've played out... I can't ever even pick a real "headcanon" bc multiple possibilities are equally intriguing to me 😂

There ARE some interesting implications around the "I'm a different man than the one you once knew" line, aren't there? I of course completely agree that Shen dated Saki prior to Yoshi—THAT at least I do believe is canon, though I see people interpret otherwise—but why did they split up? It's possible it just didn't work out, or she fell for Yoshi and ended it, and Saki is just choosing to believe that it was something he could fix. But... hmmmm.

Like, okay, assuming my interpretation of the timeline is correct, she was ALREADY with Yoshi when he learned of his heritage. And obv we don't know, but I feel like Saki was not hot-tempered prior to that situation. We know that Yoshi WAS, and though I certainly think Saki had a competitive/jealous streak, I imagine him as relatively even-headed. Perhaps he had to be, to balance out Yoshi. He just seems, in Tale of the Yokai and when he's not having a Joker Moment as Shredder, like a quieter guy.

All that to say, I wouldn't think he was aggressive with Shen or anything. But perhaps he was overly jealous/protective, in a way that made Shen feel stifled? Or maybe he was TOO traditional/entrenched in the clan, even moreso than Yoshi, and she couldn't take it? He was pushier than Yoshi in trying to get her involved in clan stuff? I have no idea, but 👀

Oooo, I honestly never even thought about the potential of Saki actually believing Miwa was his! You're so right though, like we have no idea how long it was between her dating Saki and her dating Yoshi, nor how long she was with Yoshi when she got pregnant. Perhaps, even if he didn't actually think Miwa was biologically his, he convinced himself of it anyways. He is kind of known for gaslighting himself with his own lies... XD I do completely agree that, either way, I don't think it's OOC for him to genuinely consider Miwa his own, even if they aren't related at all. Despite his.... complicated feeling around his adoption lmao.

Which, honestly, I hadn't really thought about his penchant for taking in strays, but like, when you put it like that... Idk, it's interesting, isn't it? His bio family all killed, and then HE kills his entire adoptive family... It's not unreasonable that he would try and grasp for others, like trying to fill the empty role that his family would've taken, if that makes sense. Not that he necessarily sees them AS family, but that he has this longing for community.

His offer to Shen being a lie is ALSO a great point that I didn't consider!!! Depending on how open he planned to be with her about what he had done, maybe he thought convincing her to leave Yoshi would make her less likely to mourn Yoshi's death with the rest of the clan. Or maybe he would've been willing to go to NY with her and abandon the new Foot clan once the Hamato were exterminated, because he cared more about getting rid of the Hamato than he actually did the Foot, but it didn't work out. Idk... His intentions are, as always, an enigma (and I love it).

I LOVE all of these thoughts fsdhghkdsghl ❤️❤️❤️❤️ you're right, we don't see much of Shen (tragically) but she DID have real character motivations, and I love that for her. And mourn the fact she didn't get to do much with it. Like, how fucking sad is her story, really? Did she go to college? Have career aspirations? She wanted to go to New York; had she always dreamed of seeing the Met, or seeing a Broadway musical? Did she want to travel? She never even got to see Miwa grow up! She tells him "You must decide. This is no life for Miwa" about the clan, and says "I can take care of myself. I always have." I feel like she was on the verge of leaving Yoshi, maybe not breaking up but setting out to do what SHE wanted to do. And she never got the chance. Her life had barely even started, it's so tragic. God I wish we got more of her.

Who is Blast? How to character build step by step

Warning: Long post, tl;dr at the bottom

We've seen more and more of Blast lately, so Blast appears far less enigmatic in the manga compared to his webcomic self. I do like it personally that such a character is slowly dripfeeded to us so we grown to understand this character more and more in little instances.

One of the first proper appearances of Blast (besides silhouette) in the manga is when he appears as a memory to Amai-mask and helps him calm down, full space suit and cape and all sans his current glasses, which would put him before he sent Empty void packing in the timeline and snatched his glasses. (Chapter 135: Disgrace and fundamentals)

His second appearance is when he comes to save kid Tatsumaki from her cell and he seems to be doing something extraordinary there. (Chapter 137: Resonance.)

Blast may have the ability to read minds or surface thoughts or emphatic bonding with a person, in order to clearly see that Tatsumaki has a younger sister, and then encourages Tatsumaki to take care of her. It may be related to Blast sixth sense which allowed him to sense dimensional blade coming from hyperspace.

However, he also gives Tatsumaki some bad advice, being so independent hero who surfs across galaxies or something with his gang, he just told Tatsumaki to deal with her problems on her own and not rely on others. That can be quite damaging for a small child who still needs parental guidance. That and he does not seem know how to treat little kids in general. Sure, he may be speaking from experience but Genos came to Tatsumaki's aid and proved him wrong.

So far, he's still seemingly competent and kind enough, if a bit too independent and rough around the edges. He tries to be caring but does not seem to always know how, at least around little kids like Tatsu was.

His third proper appearance is when he comes to save Saitama, Flashy flash and Manako from the god's chamber where time moves slower when he portals inside. (Chapter 139: Abyss)

He seems equal amount concerned, confident in his abilities and little playful from the way he spins the cube. Not to mention powerful because the cube is extremely heavy and he can seemingly make it ignore gravity altogether. Blast hasn't shown us many abilities as of yet but you can tell this guy is very strong from the way he completely outblitzed Flashy Flash and portals like it's nobodys business. That alongside his sensing ability makes him quite powerful.

Blast then proceeds to portal our underground heroes back to ground level.

Blast appears once more in concern of Tatsumaki who had just been visited by OPM God and he's amazed and proud that Tatsumaki resisted OPM God's invitation for power. (Chapter 156: Divine Retribution). He acts like a surrogate dad to Tatsumaki, though whether they actually have any kind of familiar relationship is unknown, even if he told Saitama and flashy to say hi to them in his stead. .

Still a mystery how this kind of powerful dude got so many wounds in such short period of time, but he seems to imply that he had been fighting OPM God itself to hold it back. Blast honestly has middle-aged dad vibes at this point and seems pretty competent at his job. He has plenty battle scars to prove his experience of actually making it back home from even difficult fights and live for another day.

Blast gets some proper amount of screentime during the Garou fight however, where he and his strong abilities really starts to shine.

First thing he does is state the facts that Garou could possibly destroy the entire planet and its inhabitants and he needs to know how to proceed with the fight, because there will be less blood shed if Garou just came quietly to his portal. He goes straight to the point and does not mess around but he's also decent at negotiating. (Chapter 166: Squared)

Blast also asseses the situation fairly quickly, despite having only been on the scene for no more than few minutes, which makes it fairly obvious that he has a keen mind too. So far he seems like a kind, competent, strong, reliable and smart hero and no wonder he's 1# hero in OPM world.

When Genos attacks, Blast takes that opportunity to attack Garou back with his Gravity Knuckles and make him release his hostage in one go, that belays his strategic mind and he even manages to pummel Garou into his portal and shuts it. It could have worked too, if Garou just wasn't able to instantly copy everything, which was something Blast could not have accounted for. When Garou attacks with consecutive nuclear fission and gravity knuckles in tandem, Blast is still fast enough to portal direct them into the air and then suction the nuclear devastation inside another portal, proving he's also decently good at multitasking.

Blast also has his priorities straight when he wants to transfer everyone in the vicinity out first so they don't end up dying from radiation, showing he can still operate with sound mind even when under duress. Yet the one thing he is lacking in because he's so independant that he does not seemingly want to ask for help.

At this point, someone should have to be summoned keep Garou busy while he portals everyone away, because he really can't focus on doing both at the same time, with Garou being so strong, even if he were good at multitasking. Blast has leadership capabilities, but he does not know or want to delegate, even if he does not seem to be prideful or boasty about his own abilities.

Things are seemingly going his way but then...then his heroic persona seems to get little cracks on it, because he sure as hell did not bail out Genos for a second time. Maybe because he thought Genos was already dead before he could react when Garou pulled his core away? Who knows...but all Saitama saw was that everyone was dead and Genos was torn in half, with Blast standing there doing nothing. The least he could have done is not let Garou practically desecrate Genos's body like that, which could have been enough to actually save him too.

Not very heroic of him, with his space-time manipulation abilities.

Especially considering he has fast enough relfexes to make a barrier around Saitama and Garou during Serious Punch squared and portal them away before they could destroy the Earth. Doesn't really add up or make logical sense to me that Blast would just abandon Genos, but what is done is done.

Blast appears once more when Flash, Saitama and Manako go to meet with Sitch to ask if they can talk to Blast and he just happens to be there because they are experimenting with humans turned monsters to see if they can be turned back into humans.

Blast has taken note of Saitama's abnormal strenght in a good way, but he's also thinking about assessing him because he did not sense any malice in Saitama. (Chapter 195: Tenninto)

Interesting ability to note that Blast seems to confirm here that he has some kind of emotional/emphatic sensing ability, because he can sense malice and also Empty Void's attack from hyperspace later. Just overall some kind of sixth sense he also used to see that Tatsu had a younger sister when he touched her head and read her mind in some fashion or maybe sensed emotional connection.

Blast rebuffs Flashy's attempts to join the hunt on OPM God, because he is both independent, does not think Flash is ready for such a clash and he's also feeling responsible for the kids taken by Ninja villages. (Chapter 196: Threat)

However, the timeline just does not add up. Flash is already 25 years old and he was born in the ninja village, while Blast has been said to have fought OPM god for 20 years and fought and wounded Empty Void 15 years ago. Meanwhile, Empty Void is the ninja village founder, so Blast must've known about this.

He's also seen to be buddy buddy with Empty void before his monsterization, but Empty Void was the village leader all this time and Blast never did anything about it, well, except maybe hold hands with the devil itself. Perhaps he found out 15 years ago and decided to do something about it. Must be some wound to take whopping 15 years to heal up from though. (Chapter 173: Secret intel).

Regardless, Blast is omitting information because he knows people would look at him in bad light if they knew he was working with Ninja village leader when they were doing bad deeds under his nose. He needs to keep up the facade probably so nobody loses trust in their heroes.

Not a whole lot would be more damaging to his reputation than the knowledge that he was bit more than buddies with the devil itself. Saitama and Flashy Flash already threw slag on his rep by implying Blast fought Cosmic Garou while naked lmao. (Chapter 169: Daybreak)

(How adorable, they're definitely holding hands, otherwise Empty Void would be holding the map with TWO hands, it just means his right hand was occupied)

More cracks appear in that shining armor of Blast being virtuous number 1# hero, when he seems less and less heroic as we know more about him.

However, the worst is probably when he shows no visible signs of disturbance at Hamukichi's plight and watches indifferently, after suggesting with a smirk on his face that Flash and Saitama can watch as well. Interesting to note is that this characterization was different in the rewritten chapters where he has visible reaction and he's the one to observe how to turn back Monsterization. (Chapter 196: Threat)

He really does not even bat an eye in the current canon verse, unlike his rewritten self who seems more emphatic.

Blast had originally seemed kind, competent, strong and emphatic, but now he only appears very strong because his kind, fatherly facade has a bit too many cracks on it.

Scratch that strong too, because Empty void is using him as laughing stock after he absorbed Cosmic Garou's powers. (chapter 197: What only I can do). Blast says he hasn't just been twiddling his thumbs, but compared to this Empty Void who can create parallel timelines with couple ninjutsu signs, he seems woefully unmatched. Even worse, Saitama seems entirely too sure that Blast can actually handle Void...but Void has gotten even stronger than before and Blast may be even overly confident in his own ability to take Void alive. It will 100% come back to bite him unless he busts out something even stronger than space-time manipulation and 6th sense.

Blasts last appearance so far is him coming to knock some sense into Empty void, literally. (Chapter 201: You pass)

Blast then proceeds to show he also has a silly, endearing human side when he blows a raspberry at Empty void and then contemplates how dangerous it almost got because he lost visual contact when he followed Flash around and almost started to panic haha. Then he proceeds to grab both Sonic and Flash into a group hug and gongratulating them on a job well done.

He makes one crucial mistake though: he thinks Flash broke out of the cube's mind control on his own, when it was only Sonic and his fist who broke him out before he could accept. It will probably come back to bite him in the ass.

So overall, Blast seems like competent, kind, strong, emphatic, funny and strong hero...at least that is how one could perceive him if we did not know better that he's hiding something important and he has the capacity to be amoral and even unscrupulous. Webcomic readers know.

But hey, least the space daddy is not one dimensional character nor too mysterious anymore. Hue hue.

I'm glad Blast has been fleshed out in the manga this much. It allows the readers to relate to him so much more when his character has been actually fleshed out.

Tl;dr Overall Blast is very strong by using space-time abilities and 6th sense, competent, emphatic but also too independent to a fault and he's hiding some big secrets considering Empty void, the ninja village leader.

The Outsiders!

The only Outsiders run I've read in full is Winick's, and I really like what he went for in that one: a team down in the dirt, trying to gather intel and get ahead of massive supervillain attacks before they happen, going after huge trafficking operations, dictators... I'd follow that line.

So I guess what I'd need is to decide on the team. DC wouldn't publish these books without a Bat lol, and despite her being with the Birds of Prey now, I'd want Cass, tbh (sorry Luke and Kate, but I can't just follow what your run is doing lol). Not as a leader, though. My first thought for leader was Anissa. Especially because I kinda want Jefferson in the mix? Not necessarily on the team, but in the outskirts of it, as a source of information / asset, but still having to interact with his daughter as a team leader, iykwim?

Also, she and Grace are together at the start, but they'd be on the brink of a break up!! And they'd break up during the run!! And have ill-advised post-relationship hook ups and jealousy dramas and so on all before the eventual reconciliation. What I'm saying is that I want DYKE DRAMA X100 for this run añlsdfkjadsf.

Okay, let's not get distracted. More teammates... Tatsu, of course (I want to read more of her!). I'm thinking Helena Bertinelli, too? She was an Outsider for a hot minute and I love her lol.

I guess we should have some men too. I love Roy and I love Roy in the Outsiders, but in this case I'd have him as a temp member, maybe? With a similar role as Jefferson, ig. There'd be a whole thing where Anissa's leadership is questioned and all, before her role is validated.

Asdlfakjsdf sorry I just had the thought of JADE as an Outsiders member. She's trying a new thing. Roy wants her to try a new thing. It's messy as hell. IDEK if it'd make sense but whatever. If they can have her working with the Bats in 'Tec, why not? Cass would vouch for her too!

Right, I was talking about including some men... J'onn's been an Outsider. I like J'onn, he's a great asset to any team. As for others, maybe some more obscure dudes? I'm open to ideas. Red Devil? Virgil? Zachary Zatara for a wizard? Idk, give me ideas xD
