part one -> 📱💞🚙
part two -> 📱💞🚙
It only takes a week for Steve to show up at this door again. He knocks on the door late at night and he’s panting as if he’s run all the way there, “I had to see you” he says and it's overdramatic and kind of romantic, and Eddie barely resists the urge to jump in his arms and kiss him. Or check if there’s a filming crew and it’s raining because of how much this feels like a movie, but it’s a beautiful night outside.
“Come in,” he tells Steve, immediately turning and running around the living room, throwing away empty food containers and tidying up a bit.
Steve watches him amused, but stands by the door, hands in his pockets, “So…” he says, “Came home today to find Chrissy, Vicky, and Robin all sitting at my dining table with their heads buried in a phone”
Eddie looks up at that, because what the fuck? He looks at Steve confused and Steve nods, like he agrees with Eddie.
“The three of them lifted their head at the same time, it was kind of freaky honestly,” He keeps going and Eddie chuckles, curious as to where this is going, “They wanted me to see this,” Stevee finishes, lifting his phone up, the first episode of the van series playing, right at the part were Eddie first sees Steve and blushes while looking at him.
Back in reality Eddie is blushing again too, Steve saw the van series, he knows. Steve knows. “Steve…” he starts even though he has no idea what he’s gonna say.
But Steve doesn't let him try, doesn't let him think. He takes two long steps towards Eddie and kisses him, hard but short, pulls away holding Eddie’s face between his hands, and brings their forehead together,
“I didn't know,” he breathes.
Eddie shakes his head, “How could you not, I was so obvious I-”
Steve just kisses him again, once more short and sweet before pulling back, “You never said.”
Eddie wraps his hands over Steve's wrists, just holding them there, moving his thumb over Steve’s pulse slowly. He can feel how hard Steve’s heart is beating, can feel it match the rhythm of his own heart. And he wracks his brain, trying to remember if he ever did ask Steve out, or if he ever stated he liked him out loud.
He ends up laughing at the stupidity of it. Everyone knew Eddie loved Steve, except Steve, “I’m- I don't what to say. I'm sorry I-” he starts but Steve shuts him up with a kiss again, “It’s okay, I know now”
This time when they kiss, Eddie doesn't let Steve keep it short. He keeps him close, kissing him deeper, harder, longer, until he doesn't know where he begins and Steve stops.
The next day a new video gets uploaded. “Goooood morning!” Eddie says, even though it is clearly noon, from the passenger seat of his van, “Guess who is ready for their road trip!” he smiles and pulls the phone away from him, so both he and Steve are in frame. Steve is driving, eyes on the road but a huge smile on his face, Eddie’s hand is clearly visible on Steve’s thigh in the shot before Eddie moves the phone back to his face, “We’ll keep updating you guys, can’t tell you exactly where we are going cause we’d like a little privacy,” he says and wiggles his eyebrows, a soft gasp and a whispered and heated ‘Eddie!’ is heard in the background, “But we will upload videos from where we’ve been in a few weeks!” he films Steve once more, who looks at Eddie with a big sappy enamored smile on his face and then films the road for a few seconds, the world passing by the window. Finally, he twists the phone back to his face and says, “Oh! And don't worry about who’s going to drive… we’ll switch” and he winks and ends the video.
the end

You were a rare soul— and that means something down here. You didn’t care about holding the title Overlord, nor the power that came with it. You had exactly zero souls under your belt, yet people… respected you. Not feared, respected. A peculiar word to hear in Hell.
Your name was uttered quieter than a whisper, like saying it an octave too loud would summon you.
The Rat King.
Soon you would meet…
˚✧₊⁎ Lucifer Morningstar ⁎⁺˳✧༚
warnings: gn reader, language, angst, canon divergence
ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ
• He thought it was very brave (re: idiotic) to carry the title king in his domain
• Lucifer came to you out of boredom, absurdity, and— no shit— the slightest bit of self indulgence! He was supposed to see this so called second king and rip them a new asshole. Except you weren’t a king— not even close
• He scoured you toes to head, seemingly unimpressed. Not rat-like, not king-like. Lucifer knew himself well enough to know he should have been bored by now. His expectations plummeted, nothing was going according to plan. And yet.. he found himself more curious than before
“You’re this ‘Rat King’ I hear so much about?”
“I guess so” You shrugged, “But I didn’t pick that name for myself.”
• You properly introduced yourself to the one and only king. Your real name tasted interesting on his tongue. Lucifer tested it thrice as he shook your hand, relooking you over like he missed something
• Apparently they called you The Rat King because you were in the secret trading business. Give one, get one. Simple as that. You explained the rules to him over a cup of tea that he asked for. It wasn’t his first or second choice of blend but he drank it to be polite. No other motive. Definitely not because there was a question on the tip of his split tongue
• Lucifer wasn’t the most observant of people. He couldn’t tell what people were thinking, he wasn’t fluent in body language. So when he caught your eyes bouncing between his tight grip on the chipped cup you offered him, to his jittery knee sticking out from where he sat. His body and his head were, for one, in agreeance; leave, they told him. He didn’t like to be sized up and that was always his go to answer for why someone was watching him so intently. But with his chest facing you, and his heart in control, he stayed put
• “Lilith.” He choked out, “I want any knowledge you have on her.”
Saying her name out loud hurt more than he thought it would. It was acid in his belly, smoke in his lungs, and fire on his tongue.
Your smile faded.
“What?” He scoffed, “Lemme guess, you want something, right? A deal? I have to make a deal to find my own wife? Let’s get this over with then! I’m the fucking King of Hell, whatever you want is—“
Your hand shot out so suddenly that Lucifer was almost disappointed. He was expecting this. Right? This is what Sinners did, it’s why they were here. Why was he hoping you’d be different? And, more importantly, when did hope creep into his system again? He hadn’t been on good terms with the feeling in decades.
• However, Lucifer’s disappointment was killed before it could spread. Gently, so gently he could cry, you took his hand and pushed it, palm down, onto the table. Your eyes never left his. There was something about them that captivated him. He loathed it. It made him feel small. Not the kind of small that equaled insignificant, either.
No, it was worse.
Vulnerable.
“I don’t do deals,” You said quickly and it had Lucifer wondering if those eyes of yours saw how his mind was spiraling.
Stealing his hand back, ignoring how he immediately missed the contact, he wiped it on his pants.
A suspicious glare took over his face, “You—?What? You don’t do deals? What does that even mean!?”
“I just… trade secrets,” You sounded so defeated, “I don’t need deals for that. But I don’t have any secrets about the queen. I’m sorry.”
• Lucifer expected pity to rear its ugly head from you any moment now. His pride couldn’t take that hit, not today. What was it about you that made him so fucking transparent?
• The uncomfortable silence began creeping into the insufferably small shop of yours. It was fucking suffocating.
“I wish I could help you, I really do.” You said softly.
He really wished you would stop doing that. Your softness felt like a dagger to the heart. Reminding him it existed was agony he thought he’d never feel again.
• “Not one?” Lucifer asked bitterly.
Not a single one of these undeserving demons and sinners that Lilith loved so much spoke about her? Not a whisper or a rumor? They just forgot about her? It’s only been 4 years!
“I’m sorry, your majesty, if I hear something, I can—“
“No… No, it’s fine.” Lucifer cut you off, holding up his hand. His wedding ring blinded him with a sparkling gleam. He sighed, “I think we’re done here.”
• You stepped behind him cautiously, walking him to the door.
“You’re welcome to come back?”
He scoffed out a laugh, grinning at you from over his shoulder, “You’re not getting any of my secrets.”
A smile of your own began to spread.
“I also dabble in conversation.”
_
(part one? or move on to the next character? i dunno if i feel like continuing but want this to be as interactive as possible so tell me what you would like to see!)

Online Meeting 🖥 pt.3
Alexia Putellas x Reader
Tumblr media
warning : fluffy 💭💗
pt.1; pt.2
summary :
While running errands, you’re recognized in public as Alexia girlfriend by some sweet fans. However, things take a turn when a creepy man begins harassing you, making inappropriate comments. Feeling unsafe, you call Alexia for help.
Tumblr media
It had been a few weeks since the paparazzi photos of you and Alexia kissing in the park were released. Life had changed more than you’d expected. While most fans were sweet and excited about the two of you being together, there was now a subtle shift in how people reacted when they saw you in public. Alexia had warned you that being recognized might become part of your life, but it didn’t really sink in until today.
You were running errands on your own—a quick trip to the grocery store in the middle of the afternoon. As you made your way down one of the aisles, searching for pasta, a group of young women spotted you. At first, you didn’t notice their lingering glances, but then one of them cautiously approached, a huge smile on her face.
“Hi! Sorry to bother you, but… aren’t you Alexia’s girlfriend?”
Surprised, you blinked before nodding slowly. “Yeah, that’s me.”
The girls’ excitement was immediate. “Oh my God, I knew it! Can we take a picture with you? We love Alexia so much, and we’ve been following all the news about you two.”
You smiled at their enthusiasm, feeling a little overwhelmed but touched by their kindness. “Of course,” you said, trying to sound as relaxed as possible.
After snapping a couple of selfies with them, they thanked you profusely and headed off, still buzzing with excitement. You breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like you’d managed the situation well enough. But as you turned to continue shopping, another voice called out from behind you.
“Hey! You’re Alexia’s girl, right?”
This time, it wasn’t a friendly tone. The voice was low, almost mocking. You glanced over your shoulder to see a man standing there, his posture too casual, his eyes scanning you in a way that made your skin crawl.
“Uh… yeah,” you said cautiously, keeping your distance.
“Damn, I didn’t think she’d be into someone like you,” he said with a sleazy grin. “You must be real lucky, huh?”
You tried to ignore him, your heart beating faster as you moved to the next aisle. But he followed, his voice growing louder and more invasive.
“Come on, don’t be shy. What’s she like, huh? Is she as good in bed as she is on the field?”
Your stomach twisted, a mix of fear and disgust rising inside you. The store wasn’t as crowded as you would’ve liked, and it seemed like no one else was noticing the man’s behavior. You quickly pulled out your phone, your hands trembling slightly as you dialed Alexia’s number.
She picked up on the second ring. “Cariño? Everything okay?”
“Alexia,” you whispered, trying to keep calm. “There’s a guy here… he’s following me, saying disgusting things. I—I’m at the grocery store near our place.”
You heard the sudden shift in Alexia’s voice, her tone going from casual to protective in an instant. “Stay right where you are. I’m coming, okay?”
You nodded, even though she couldn’t see you, feeling a bit more secure just hearing her voice. But the man wasn’t done. He stepped closer, now invading your personal space, and you could feel the panic rising in your chest.
“You ignoring me now? Come on, don’t be such a prude.”
Just as you were about to tell him to back off, Alexia arrived. She must have sprinted from the car, her face flushed with anger as she stormed into the aisle. Without hesitation, she stepped between you and the man, her eyes blazing with fury.
“Back off,” Alexia growled, her voice low and dangerous.
The man blinked, clearly surprised to see her in person. “Whoa, relax, I was just talking to her.”
“No, you were harassing her,” Alexia shot back, squaring her shoulders. “Leave. Now.”
He smirked, trying to act like the tough guy. “What, you think just ‘cause you’re some football star you can boss me around?”
Without missing a beat, Alexia took a step forward, getting in his face. “I don’t care who you are. You don’t talk to her like that. If you don’t walk away, I’ll make sure security does it for you.”
A crowd had started to gather, and someone had already pulled out their phone, recording the entire exchange. The man, now realizing he was outnumbered, took one last look at Alexia and then scoffed before backing away, muttering under his breath.
Alexia didn’t move until he was completely out of sight. Then, she turned to you, her expression immediately softening as she cupped your face gently.
“Are you okay?” she asked, her eyes scanning you for any sign of distress.
You nodded, still shaken but grateful. “I am now, thanks to you.”
She pulled you into a tight hug, kissing the top of your head as she held you close. “I’m sorry that happened. I’m so sorry.”
The crowd around you began murmuring, some people still filming, others whispering about what had just happened. You could hear a few of them praising Alexia for stepping in.
By the time you made it home, you thought that would be the end of it, but later that night, you received a message from one of your friends. Attached was a viral video clip of the incident in the grocery store. The video showed Alexia confronting the man, standing up for you without hesitation. The comments underneath were a mix of support and awe.
*Alexia is a queen. Look at her protecting her girl!*
*We love a protective girlfriend. She handled that perfectly.*
*Respect to Alexia for not letting that creep get away with it.*
The video was being shared everywhere. People were calling Alexia a hero, praising her for defending you in such a public way. While part of you was still unsettled by the whole ordeal, you couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride for how fiercely Alexia had protected you.
Sitting beside her on the couch, you glanced at the video, then up at her. She noticed you watching and smiled softly, pulling you into her arms again.
“No one messes with you,” she said quietly, her voice full of quiet determination.
You smiled, resting your head against her chest. “I know. And I love you for it.”
She kissed your forehead gently, her grip around you tightening as the world outside faded away, leaving only the comfort of her warmth and the knowledge that, no matter what, she’d always be there to protect you.

Continuation of this, It's an Au where the brothers don’t fall into devildom, but they fall into the human realm and land on Mc’s house.
Sorry for the late post; I typically or at least try to post between 3-5pm, but I am in college at the time, so it is a bit difficult, but I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
After everything calmed down, the brothers settled into your home. As you fetched some clothes for the man named Satan, you began to assess the situation. You couldn’t help but notice that these men didn’t look exactly human, with wings on their backs and clothing that seemed far too rich and otherworldly to be anything you’d find on Earth. “Oh shit,” you muttered to yourself, panicking. “Did I just let creepy cosplayers into my home?”
You walked back to the living room, where the brothers were sitting around, trying to make sense of their new surroundings. Handing the clothes to Satan, you pointed him toward the bathroom. Then, turning to the rest of them, you asked, “So... who are you people?”
Lucifer was the first to respond. “We’re from the Celestial Realm. These are my brothers Mammon, Leviathan, Asmodeus, Beelzebub, Belphegor and I’m Lucifer.”
“Waaaait,” you said, your eyes narrowing in disbelief. “You guys are angels? What about the guy in the bathroom?!”
“He's a... that is our other brother, Satan,” Lucifer replied calmly.
“No way. I don’t believe you guys,” you retorted, crossing your arms.
Asmodeus, chimed in, “Babe, we literally fell through your roof from the sky! How much proof do you need?”
You sighed, realizing that they had a point. “I guess that’s true. Speaking of falling, though, how are you going to pay for the damages?”
Mammon grinned, his usual mischief glinting in his eyes. “With a very meaningful ‘I’m sorry.’”
You shot him a withering look. “I don’t accept your apology. If you have no money, you need to get out of my house.”
Before you could follow through with your threat, Beelzebub, who had remained unusually quiet, suddenly spoke up. “Okay, but before you kick us out, do you have any food?”
Your irritation flared again. “I’m not giving you anything for free! These damages are going to cost me an arm and a leg in this society!”
Leviathan’s eyes went wide in horror. “Are they gonna cut up your body?!”
“They’re not gonna actually take my limbs,” you explained, exasperated. “It’s just a figure of speech.”
After the conversation, you sent the brothers out of the house and began the daunting task of cleaning up. As you worked, you glanced out the window and saw them sitting on the curb, embroiled in what looked like a heated argument. The dispute ended abruptly when it started to rain, quickly turning into a downpour. You watched as the brothers scrambled together, trying futilely to use their clothes to cover their heads.
You felt a pang of guilt. Sure, they had caused a lot of damage, but they didn’t seem to know where they were, and they clearly had no place to stay. Sighing, you grabbed an umbrella and walked over to them. “Come inside,” you said, unable to leave them out in the storm.
Drenched and looking pitiful, they followed you back into the house. Once inside, you laid out some ground rules. “First, my room is off-limits. Second, you need to find jobs to pay for my ceiling.”
The brothers quickly agreed, and you immediately put them to work, instructing them to grab pots and towels to catch the water leaking through the holes in the roof. After the impromptu cleanup, everyone was exhausted and ready for bed. However, you soon realized that with your one-bedroom house, and all possible sleeping areas flooded, space was going to be an issue. Reluctantly, you allowed them to stay in your room, but they had to cram themselves onto the floor, which quickly turned into a disaster.
“Beel, move over!” Leviathan grumbled.
“I can’t, there’s no space!” Beelzebub replied, sounding equally frustrated.
“Mammon, get off me! Why are you all over me today?!” Asmodeus complained, sitting up in annoyance.
“I’m not trying to be on ya, but new guy over here keeps scooching over!” Mammon shot back, glaring at Satan.
Satan, clearly irritated, snapped, “Lucifer is all in my space! What else am I supposed to do? And my name is Satan!”
“Whatever, new guy,” Mammon muttered. Then he turned to you with a grin. “Hey MC, you think I can get up there with you?”
“Absolutely not,” you replied, not missing a beat. “I don’t know what kind of creeps you are, but you should be happy you’re even in here!”
Asmodeus, ever the instigator, added, “It’s not our fault your house was here, you know?”
“Do you think I care?” you shot back. “You still landed on my home! You know I can still kick you out, right?”
Lucifer finally intervened, his voice calm but firm. “Enough. Everyone let’s just rest. I know we’re all tired.”
Everyone agreed, and eventually, they all fell asleep. The next morning, you found them scattered around your room, some watching TV while others peered over your shoulder as you scrolled through job listings on your phone.
“Does anyone here have job experience?” you asked, not expecting much.
Beelzebub was the first to respond. “Does guarding the gates in the Celestial Realm count?”
“We can make that sound more realistic and say you worked security,” you said, typing it into the job application. “Asmodeus, you next.”
Asmodeus thought for a moment before replying, “I never had to work, but I did make basic-looking people into, well, kinda attractive people.”
“Okay, so we can say you’re a cosmetic stylist,” you suggested.
One by one, you went through the rest of the brothers, assigning Leviathan and Mammon to a café, Satan as a library assistant, Lucifer as a personal assistant at Dia Corp, and Belphegor staying home to help with the cleanup.
Tumblr media
A week passed, and things had started to fall into a tentative routine. After you helped the brothers secure jobs, they began to scrape together whatever money they could, pooling it to buy temporary plastic sheets to cover the gaping holes in your ceiling. It wasn’t a perfect fix, but it kept the rain out and made the place feel a little more livable.
Mornings in your home had taken on a surprising rhythm. Belphegor, despite his usual lethargy, had taken on the role of making breakfast. He’d wake up early—well, early for him—throw together something edible, and pack lunches for everyone before promptly passing out around the house. You never knew where you’d find him napping sometimes on the couch, other times in the laundry machine, once even curled up in the bathtub.
Meanwhile, the rest of the brothers would head off to work. Lucifer had quickly established himself at Dia Corp, where he’d met the enigmatic CEO, Diavolo, and his right-hand man, Barbatos. Though it was just a simple personal assistant job on paper, it was clear there was something more going on behind the scenes. Diavolo seemed to take an unusual interest in Lucifer, and their meetings often stretched well into the evening. Despite this, Lucifer managed to maintain his usual composure, even if he occasionally came home looking a little more exhausted than usual.
Mammon and Leviathan, on the other hand, had found themselves working at a local café. To say it was an adjustment would be an understatement. Mammon, with his natural charm—or what he thought was charm—had taken to flirting with every customer who walked through the door for a bigger tip, which often lead to awkward misunderstandings that left the poor baristas scrambling to keep up with his lies. Leviathan, for his part, had somehow ended up in charge of the cash register, a task that seemed simple enough until he realized it involved actual human interaction. The first few days were a disaster, with Levi stammering through orders and fumbling with the register until one particularly patient customer had to help him count the change.
But slowly, they were getting the hang of it. Mammon had started focusing his energy on upselling desserts rather than flirting (though he still couldn’t help himself sometimes), and Levi had found a rhythm with the regulars who didn’t mind his awkwardness. They even managed to avoid breaking anything—mostly.
As for Asmodeus, he had landed a job at a local salon, where he quickly became the most sought-after stylist. His flair for fashion and beauty made him an instant hit, and his days were filled with makeovers, gossip, and the occasional dramatic outburst when someone dared to question his artistic vision.
Beelzebub’s job at a security firm suited him perfectly. The work was straightforward, and he could focus on the task at hand without too much interaction, which suited his easygoing nature. The best part? The job came with plenty of food perks. He often returned home with snacks, much to his and everyone else’s delight.
Even Satan had found his place, working as a library assistant. The quiet atmosphere and endless shelves of books were a haven for him, though he couldn’t resist adding a few more books to your already overflowing collection at home.
Despite the rocky start, you couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of attachment to this group of misfit angels-turned-fallen angels. They had somehow managed to turn your life upside down, but in doing so, they had brought an unexpected sense of camaraderie and even comfort to your once-quiet home.
(I can see asmo as an 80's hair stylist clacking his gum in your ear and telling you how horribly the last person did your hair dye)
(Side note: I am sorry if my writing seems a little strange or like it is written in the third person; this is the first time I have really included Mc in my writing. Also, sorry if this was a bit long!)

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
just woke you next to ellie. how did this happen!? gosh you don’t even remember how this happened, one minute you were hanging with her and the next your in her lap moaning.
you looked back at ellie. her face is so much softer when she’s asleep, so much more vulnerable. she was curled up under the blanket arm hung around you.
you almost felt bad for even considering leaving.
slowly shifting back down into bed, you pulled her back ontop of you closer to you rubbing her back as you watched her sleep.
when ellie woke up that was a different story. she immediately sat up pushing herself away from you staring at you just confused and scared kind of. ”what the fuck?” she asks not even knowing what to say.
sitting up slowly you reach for your shirt pulling it back ontop trying to reason with her “we just got drunk and hooked up” you tell her.
“yeah got that much i’m not fucking dumb get out.” she spat at you not jeeping her gaurd down. “jesus dude you could be nicer…” you muttered. she shot a glare at you “this is my apartment i do whatever i fucking want”
she kept staring at you her face stern but also nervous and kinda scared. she kept an eye on you until you were out the door and left.
since that night you haven’t heard from her or seen her in the shop anymore. when you would bump into eachother she’d keep her head down and walk past you.
honestly you had no fucking clue what you did to her to be treated like this so naturally you went to dina.
you asked her to meet up for a coffee to talk. you met eachother at a coffee shop between both your apartments.
once you got your coffees and sat down she already knew what you wanted to talk about “this is about ellie right?” she asks. take. aback that she already knows about it you nod “y-yeah..”
“her leaving you in the dust, ignoring you, pretending like you’re not there?” dina says more in a matter-of-fact tone. “yeah wait how did you know?” “she does this to every hook up.” ouch okay. you frowned sipping your coffee and dina speaks up again “look ellie isn’t one for getting attached but with you it’s different. i say the way she looks at your through the music shop windows, and the way she talks about you. she likes you but you can’t push her. if you try she’ll just push you away more”
“so what do i do?” you ask confused. she shrugs and leans back “be patient with her?” right. helpful.
after you guys finished catching up and talking about your music career and stuff you both made plans for the group to meet up at a bar.
while walking to work you saw outside a bar in the door that they were looking for singers to preform. you immediately went inside going to the closest bar tender. “hey i saw you were looking for someone to sing tomorrow ?” you say with a polite voice. the bartender looks up at you nodding “mhm you interested?” he asks you while pouring a drink for a customer.
“yeah i’d love to” you smile. “come by tomorrow and we’ll get you set up.”
once you left you immediately told dina about it, sending a photo of the flyer telling her that you all can meet up there tomorrow “YES OMG THATS SO COOL ILL TELL JESSE” dina texts back.
once you got to work you started helping some customers with picking out a guitar and some strings and helping some guy with his record player.
it was a pretty chill day when ellie came in looking very hesitant about it. she second she saw you she looked down walking towards the counter. you were leaning against the counter looking at her “hey” you mumbled and she mumbled a smal “hi” back.
she looked around nervously and had her guitar case next to her “i uhm.. wanted to get the guitar strings replaced and i honestly don’t know how to do it myself and i heard the prices here are good” she looked nervous like a little kid giving a presentation.
“yeah of course i can get that situated for you” you smile softly at her remembering what dina said. patience.. be patient.
you took her over to where you kept the strings and she got the ones you suggested clearly not knowing what to do, joel always did this for her. you sat down with her and started changing them.
“uh dina told me you’re preforming at the bar tomorrow?” ellie asks trying to break the silence and you nod “yeah you coming?” you ask looking up at her. “mhm.. i’ll be there” she said staring at her shoes. you smile at her and go back to her guitar
once you were done she payed and tested them out a bit before putting her guitar in the case “thanks” she mumbled and then walked away.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
the next day you were getting ready putting on your nicest outfit trying to look effortless but still nice. you pulled on your shoes and grabbed your guitar case going over to the bar texting the group chat dina made telling them you’re on your way.
you stepped into the bar and spotted them at a booth and walked over to them. ellie was sitting on the wall side playing with a napkin folding it around with no end goal. she had a glass of whiskey by her. dressed in a flannel and some jeans her forearm tattoo prominent. she glanced up at you looking you up and down holding back a small smile.
dina hugged you and jesse said a quick hi and you sat down dina handing you a beer. “so you’re preforming? what song?” dina asks with a smile and you chuckle “not telling” you tease.
when it got to your turn to preform you set up sitting on the stool and start plucking at the strings of your guitar.
“chilled in kitchen of a city tomb
the light would flicker like a violet moon
the night was thicker than a smoke fume
eliza waited in her room”
heads slowly lifted from conversation to look at you singing including ellie.
“ben he loved her like he loved no one
the way she laughed and held a smoking gun
the way she always said what’s done is done”
ellie watched you intently, watching how delicate you plucked the strings of your guitar and tapped your foot counting beat. listened to the soft way you sang.
“but he is not the only one”
singing that line you looked over at ellie making eye contact with her singing those lines to her before looking back out at the other people.
“love is a gentle thing, yours is thicker than a velvet ring

once you got off the stage you went back to the booth dina jumping up “you did so good! oh my god that was amazing!” she said and you laughed. looking over at ellie she had her head down staring her drink. you noticed how she looked a bit embarrassed and you decided to get up going to the bathroom tapping ellie’s shoe to signal for her to follow.
when you got there you locked the door leaning against the sink folding your arms “you okay?” you ask her as she played with her pinky and ring finger. and she just hums looking around on the floor. “you can talk to me” you say tilting your head.
“i’m sorry for ghosting you after hooking up… i was being a dick to you and you didn’t deserve it…” she mumbled quietly “and kicking you out yelling at you we were drunk and did hooked up that wasn’t your fault…” she added. your eyes softened seeing how vulnerable she is and you pushed yourself off the counter getting closer “it’s okay” you say softly with a smile and she shakes her head “but i was really mean and i really like you”. you look at her not knowing wether to confess or if it was a joke. fuck it why not. “i like you too ellie so much” you grab one of her hands still not looking up at you
“but there’s all those other girls and what if you don’t trust me?” she asks and you sigh tilting her head up to look at you. “i trust you okay? even if you’re scared of relationships and what not i’ll be here…” you say softly cupping her cheek.
she smiles looking at you, you faces close together “i really wanna kiss you” she mumbles “do it” you say and she smiles even wider leaning in to kiss you.
it was a slow kiss. she really meant it not like before on the fire escape. you smile against her lips cupping her cheek and push her against the wall making the kiss deep your tongue poking through. kissing against her jaw line and neck she sighs softly letting her head fall back “wanna make you feel good yeah?” you mumbled against her neck and she just nodded.
you unbuttoned her flannel showing off her tits and you smile seeing she’s not wearing a bra glancing back at her her face red “what they’re uncomfortable” she mumbles. you chuckle softly and kiss down her body unbuckling her belt letting them drop to the bathroom floor, looking up at her as you get down on your knees “gonna be quiet for me yeah?” you ask your hands going up her thighs resting under her boxers.
she nods biting her lip hand tangling in your hair “yeah” she says breathily. pressing along her happy trail you pull her boxers down a line of her own wetness connecting her to them.
“excited?” you ask nipping her inner things and all she responds with is a breathy moan. you kissing along her slit running your tongue in it and she jerks slightly already sensitive.
you part her folds and latch onto her clit running your tongue around the bud while she tries so hard not to moan as loud as she can.
bringing your hand up on her thigh you slowly push a finger into her and she puts her hand over her mouth eyes fluttering as you pump them in her.
“been thinking about this?” you ask against her clit. “mhm… fuck every night” she mumbles panting a bit.
pushing one more finger into curling them up she covers her mouth to let out a deep moan of your name and you could tel she was getting close by how tight she was getting “gonna need my fingers baby” you chuckle.
she grips your hair thighs trembling as she struggles to stay up and her orgasm washes over her as she rides out the waves. once you know she’s done you stand back up wiping your fingers on your pants and kiss her cheek while she catches her breath.
“fucking amazing” you say against her skin and she smiles “does this mean you’re my girlfriend?” she asks in the dorkiest way “definitely” you reply and kiss her softly “you’re so cute” you chuckle brushing her hair back.
when you got her dressed again and went out to dina and jesse dina having a knowing smile as she looked you guys up and down. “had fun?” she asks sipping her drink with a smirk and you guys don’t answer and just shrug before grabbing your guitar case and ellie’s bag.
“we’re gonna head home now going to bed early” ellie tells them and dina chuckles “mhm have fun”
it was going to be a long night.

There was only a minute left in the match and the Real Madrid Femenino were beating the Athletic Club Femenino 1-0. Désirée were on the pitch, running the ball down the field. As a striker, it was mostly up to her to score. However, this defender was down her back, giving her no choice but to pass the ball. Passing it to your winger teammate, she kept sprinting to give her teammate a place to pass to.
Getting ahead of her defender, Désirée’s teammate passed the ball to her again and she took the shot. . . Goal!
The fans in the stands had began screaming and cheering, along with her teammates celebrating with her. Désirée did a different celebration this time, posing like a model as her best friend on the team, Linda Caicedo, acted as her photographer. The rest of her teammates caught on, Carla Camacho actually joining in.
As soon as that was over, her nearby teammates hugged her and she pointed to the stands; where her boyfriend, Pedri was, cheering her on.
Now, not many people knew about Désirée and Pedri’s relationship. It was a secret that only Linda and Gavi really knew about, deciding that the rivalry was too deep for it to be public. Abe still went to his matches, although not in his jersey. He insisted on coming to this one, deciding that he would just sit in a spot where no one important would see him. Of course Pedri was always wrong and Désirée was always right, because as soon as that celebration went on the internet, the sleuths of Real Madrid and Barcelona put two and two together that he was in fact in attendance.
Gavi alerted Pedri immediately, sending him a screenshot of what appeared to be him in the stands. Pedri physically felt his heart drop, the text making him look around with anxiety. It wasn’t that people knew that was the problem— it was that Désirée didn’t yet know that they were public now. He knew she was adamant on keeping it a secret, knowing the rivalry was going to push something into them. Of course Désirée was always right.
After the match, her and her team hit the locker rooms and changed to get on with their days. After done, Désirée went to go find Pedri where he said he’d be — just around the corner from the locker rooms.
When she spotted him, she gave him a smile. He hesitantly smiled back, unsure whether or not to break her happiness.
“Hi baby!” She exclaimed. “Did you see my goal?” Désirée wrapped her arms around him, giving him a kiss on the cheek as she did.
“Hey,” he replied. “Yeah, I saw it. You did amazing out there, Dés. I’m proud of you.”
Désirée let go of him, trying to hold in another smile. “Wanna go get dinner? After I shower and get dressed obviously.”
“Yeah, um, actually can I tell you something?” Worst way to state a question when speaking to Désirée. She immediately thought something was wrong. Maybe it was, but now her head was going into the worst places imaginable. Was it going to be over between them? Was he finally done with her?
She inhaled sharply, preparing herself for what ever was to come. “Anything.”
“Your celebration… Everyone found out. We’re all over the internet,” Pedri said sheepishly, fearing her reaction.
Dés didn’t speak for a second, freezing up. They found out? All because of some dumb gesture she made after her goal? What did people think about them? What did they think about her? Instead of discussing her worries she just said, “Oh, okay.”
Pedri raised a brow. “You’re not mad?”
“No I…” She knew what was to come. The internet was going to turn against Pedri for betraying Barcelona by getting with a Real Madrid player. They were going to hate her. Slaughter her. She just had to mentally prepare herself for this. “It’s fine. I don’t care if you don’t.”
“Déssie, we’ve been together for three months and never have you said you wanted to be public. What’s going on?” Pedri inquired.
“Nothing. Maybe it was time to go public,” Désirée shrugged. “Come on, let’s go.”
Back at Dés’ apartment, Pedri waited for her to be done with her shower and getting ready so they could go to dinner together. What she didn’t know, though, was that Pedri’s friends began to influence him to leave her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This wasn’t even the worst of it. Girls flooded Pedri’s DMs saying that they could treat him better than she ever could and even threatened to kill her. It made Pedri think, did he really want you to have to suffer through all of this? She didn’t deserve this treatment and most definitely didn’t deserve the death threats.
Désirée came out of the bathroom, freshly out of the shower. Pedri was sitting on her bed, scrolling through the endless messages of ‘Pedri, leave that Madrid girl!’ As soon as he saw her, he shut the phone off.
Dés noticed this immediately and asked concerningly, “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah. You check your phone since after the match?” Pedri questioned.
“No, why?”
“Nothing. I, um, don’t think I’m gonna make it to dinner tonight. They just pushed our training up to early in the morning and I’m kind of tired,” He told her. She frowned slightly, but understood.
Désirée nodded and said, “That’s fine. Let me know when you get home, okay?”
He nodded in return, getting up and leaving the bedroom. No hug or kiss? He never left her without giving her one or the other. He also never just left with barely an explanation. And his phone. Why’d he turn it off as soon as he saw her? Was there another girl he was going to see?
“Okay, bye?” She stood up, walking to her doorway and watching him open her front door. It came out like a question, like a ‘Hello, why didn’t you say anything?’
“Bye,” Pedri said.
“I love you,” she replied, just as he shut the door.
Tumblr media
She’d checked his location. He was home and he had been for twenty minutes. No text, no call. Maybe he fell asleep. Maybe he was busy. Or maybe that other girl was at his house.
Désirée didn’t know anything. She wasn’t even sure if she wanted to know. If he was cheating did she really want to find out, especially with their relationship still blossoming?
Despite trying to fight the urge, she called him. His voice sounded from the other line after three rings. “Hello?”
“Did I do something wrong?” She immediately asked. She just wanted to know answers.
“Dés, can we not do this right now?”
That set her off. “Are you serious? Are you fucking serious? I’m trying to have a genuine conversation with you and you’re saying ‘can we not do this right now?’”
“Désirée, have you even checked Instagram? My friends, my fans, my teammates are all saying things about you and our relationship and it’s throwing me off. People are threatening to kill you, Dés. You don’t deserve to be with someone whose fans will risk jail time for their idol.” She felt her heart break with these words, the tone in his voice physically killing her.
She didn’t even know how to respond. Once she did, her voice began to crack and tears stung in her eyes. “So what, you’re breaking up with me? Because of your fans?”
“Now that you say it, it sounds stupid but I… I don’t want to put you through that.”
Désirée wiped a stray tear from her face and replied, “Pedri, I’m willing to endure it all if it means I get to be with you. I don’t want our relationship to end over something this stupid.”
“I know, I know. Please don’t cry, Déssie. I love you. I just want what’s best for you. I’m right here.”
“Don’t do this, Pedri. Please.”
“Okay. But if anything happens that will hurt you, I can’t promise to stay. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you.”
Désirée calmed herself down, wiping her face. “I’m sorry, I love you.”
“Why are you apologizing, baby?” He sounded genuinely concerned, like he felt awful for hurting her.
“I… I don’t know. Don’t scare me like that again, okay?”
“I promise. Always and forever.”
She repeated softly, “Always and forever.”

† A/N: This took so long to get out I’m sorry
Tumblr media
It wasn't supposed to happen like this, it was one thing that now led to you being stuck with the metkayina prince, Aonung.
Tumblr media
When Jake had called in saying they needed new coms and some amo for his guns, Norm had instructed you to come with him and Max to drop off the supplies which you happily agreed too.
It had been so long since you saw the sully's ever since they left the forest to seek uturu in the metkayina village.
Tumblr media
The flight there took exactly 4 days as you made your way over the vast ocean towards awa'atlu, your heart beat in excitement knowing you'd be able to see your friends again.
As the helicopter landed on the beach a sea of metkayina crowded around the alien machine curious on what it is and why it's there.
Immediately spotting Jake you jumped out the helicopter and ran up to him hugging him, he chuckled at this since you barely reached past his belly button but nevertheless he was happy to see you.
You helped him carry the boxes of equipment to his marui, technically he had to carry you aswell since the bouncy walkway kept making you almost fall.
Once reaching the marui your greeted by the rest of the sullys who are eager to hug you once Jake sets you down.
The sullys were like your second family, you were always with them when they still lived in the forest, even Neytiri loved you despite her hate for humans.
Tumblr media
As the time came for you, Max and Norm to leave a bad storm came rolling in. The weather became too bad for flying in so you three had to stay until the storm passed.
You were each given your own temporary marui and Aonung offered to start the fire for each of you so you could cook your meals and also stay warm.
When it came time for Aonung to start the fire in your marui you and him began talking, that talking soon led to him leaning in to kiss you.
"A-Aonung wha-" "Tsne sevin tawtute.. atut oe si nga zir tsìltsan.." he murmured softly finally capturing your lips with his. The kiss was soft but passionate, one of his hands moved to your hip while the other went to your cheek gently stroking it.
The metkayina carefully picked you up before getting up and walking over to the bed, slowly he got down placing you onto the soft bedding never breaking the kiss.
The size difference between you both made him feel even more arousad to where he couldn't hardly control himself, he broke the kiss only to trail wet kisses to your neck sucking and nipping at the skin.
You moaned softly turning your head to give the man more access, "Nafì'u a tsìltsan 'eve su oe" he praised.
Slight realization hits you and your using most of your strength to try and push him off, confused Aonung leans up still hovering over you "'upe lu keyawr hì'i 'aw?"
Looking away still you avoided his gaze "We can't do this.. it's wrong and we should be sleeping." You spoke quietly.
Aonung sighed moving one of his hands to your chin forcing you to look at him as he spoke "Hahaw lu losk. Oe mkna efuu säfpìlh."
His eyes locked with yours and slowly you nodded your head giving him the ok, the metkayina brought one of your hands to his lips gently kissing each individual finger before doing the same to your other hand.
Placing your hands back down he helped take off the baggy shirt you wore along with your bra, panties, and shorts so you were left bare under his lustful gaze.
Leaning back down Aonung placed a soft kiss on your lips until he trailed those kisses down your body all while keeping eye contact with you.
Aonung knows you won't be able to properly take him unless he prepares you, it's taking him so much restraint to hold back instead of pouncing on you taking it for himself.
A shiver runs down your spine as you feel his hot breath against your pussy, his long tongue runs up and down your slit slowly before two of his fingers spread your lips open.
Instantly his mouth waters at the sight and he dives in, one of his fingers prodes at your entrance till it slips inside curling against your sweet spot.
Soft moans leave your lips as your hands reached down tangling themselves in his hair, “Aonung!..” you squealed feeling your orgasm approaching rapidly.
Aonung grinned against your folds slipping yet another finger inside you “Yes pretty girl?” He purred, his thick na’vi accent making you clench around his fingers.
Before you could reach your climax he removed his fingers from your now dripping pussy bringing them to his lips sucking your juices off.
Your skin warmed as you watched him but quickly looked away as his gaze set on you, a low growl rumbled through Aonungs chest as he grabbed your chin forcing you to look at him “Keep your eyes on me beautiful.”
Obeying you kept your eyes on him watching as he now let go of you to quickly untie his tewng throwing it off to the side, shit he was massive..
The metkayina smirked seeing your eyes widen, he knew he was going to have fun ruining you for everyone else. “W-will it even fit?” You asked softly wondering if this was a good idea.
Aonung didn’t respond at first, he quickly moved between your legs positioning his hard cock at your entrance “Oe rnua si tsal ha'” he murmured now slipping his cockhead past your entrance slowly stretching you out.
The stretch burned worse than his fingers, your body felt like it was on fire. Aonung noticed tears threatening to fall from your eyes and stilled his movements leaning down to pepper loving kisses along your face, neck, and chest.
“Shh syulang it’s ok” he spoke softly giving you time to adjust to his size, once the burning sensation started going away you tapped his shoulder giving him the ok to start moving again.
Slowly he began moving pushing more of his length into you, finally he bottomed out and a prominent buldge could be seen in your stomach.
The last of Aonungs resolve crumbled, he pulled out halfway before snapping his hips into yours making a choked out moan leave your lips.
His pace was brutal not caring how fragile your small body was, one of your hands gripped onto his arm while the other covered your mouth muffling your moans.
Huffing Aonung picked up his pace, his heavy balls slapping against your ass “Kehe, nga’lur venatal lu ou sonfey pam!”
One of his hands stayed next to your head holding himself up while the other yanked the hand that was covering your mouth off. “T-they wi-will he-h-he-” “Let them hear how good I’m making you feel, I do not care” he cut you off hissing.
Your orgasm was building up fast again as well as Aonungs, but him being a “gentleman” he held back wanting you to cum first.
Using his free hand he pushed down on the bulge on your stomach making the coil inside you snap, you screamed as your orgasm washed over you, your walls clenching around his now throbbing cock.
Aonung groaned rolling his eyes back feeling you get even tighter if that’s even possible, with one last hard thrust he buried himself deep inside of you spilling his seed in your womb.
You both stayed in that position for awhile until the metkayina pulled away, his now softed cock slipping out of you with a wet pop. Reaching over he got a cloth that was tied to his tewng and proceeded to clean you up as best as he could without hurting you.
He then cleaned himself up putting his tewng back on afterwards, looking over he saw how tired and worn out you were so he helped you put your own clothes back on “You did so well tawtute..but this will never happen again.”
Tumblr media
His voice was the last thing you heard as you drifted off to sleep.
The next morning came fast with the suns rays shining through slits in the marui, your eyes fluttered open expecting to see Aonung but he wasn’t there.
Confused you sat up looking around, you thought he would’ve stayed after what happened but apparently not. The flaps of the marui burst open with an exhausted Max walking through “Let’s go y/n, Norm is waiting for us.”
Nodding you stoood up wincing at the pain between your legs as you and Max left the marui stepping onto the bouncy walkway, the walk to the helicopter was short but felt long since you had to navigate your way past the na’vi.
The sullys were waiting for you as you finally reached it, you bid everyone goodbye before stepping inside after Max. The blades started spinning as the helicopter rose taking off back to the forest.
Tumblr media
5 months have passed by, you got back into your normal routine just helping out the scientists, except now occasionally running to the bathroom throwing up.
That wasn’t even the worse part of this, you realized 3 months after you came back that you were pregnant. Wanting to keep it to yourself you never told anyone and if anyone ever did ask you’d just say it was food poisoning.
Eventually you grew concerned, you were carrying a half na’vi half human child in your womb but your stomach only had a small bump which you could cover easily.
Sighing you made your way out the human outpost and towards the village, eywa it was only a 10 minute walk yet you were already tired.
Upon reaching the village you walked to the healers tent stepping inside, Mo’at who was alone in there just grinding some herbs lifted her head smiling at you.
“My child, what brings you here?” She asked raising a non existent eyebrow since you did not seem to be injured, hesitantly you walked over now kneeling infront of her.
Before you can speak she smiled “Does it have something to do with the child growing inside you?”
Your eyes widened in surprise “How- how did you-” , “I am tsahik darling I always know.” Well that was true but it still shocked you.
“You must go back to the metkayina clan” she spoke standing up placing the now grounded herbs on a small desk.
Huffing in disbelief you stood up carefully “I will not, I have no reason to go back there.”
The tsahik chuckled quietly to herself “My dear” she began turning towards you “You mated with a metkayina and now are carrying his child, you must go back.”
Tumblr media
You can’t believe your going back to awa’atlu, Mo’at had you pack all your belongings which wasn’t much then get into one of the helicopters with her following behind.
Naturally she didn’t want to ride in the alien machine but she did not have a choice, her ikran was killed in the first war and she has not bonded with another since then.
It was rare for tsahiks to venture off leaving the village but she planned everything out, her prized student would take over as acting tsahik while she was away which would only be for a few days.
The ride to awa’atlu was annoying as it was last time, you stayed quiet most of the flight there only engaging in conversation if someone wanted to speak with you.
After 4 long days the village came into sight and once again it landed in the same spot with netkayina gathering around the machine.
You stepped out first then Mo’at moving through the sea of metkayina towards the healers tent where Ronal would be and surely she was.
Mo’at gestured for you to stay outside while she went in to discuss the situation with the tsahik of the metkayina. A few moments pass before both tsahiks walk out with Ronal glaring daggers at you.
“We have decided” Mo’at spoke first, you were confused till you saw Aonung walking over with his ears pinned back against his head.
He stood next to his mother Ronal as she now spoke “You will stay here with my son as you two are now mates” “But sa’nok..” “It is decided ma’itan!” She hissed.
Mo’at gave you a soft smile along with words of encouragement as she walked away back to the helicopter, you watched as she got inside and the helicopter slowly rised till flying away.
Looking back to Aonung and Ronal you gulped quietly, Aonung was narrowing his eyes at you while his mother was yelling at him in na’vi gesturing towards you.
His gaze fell to the ground as Ronal turned to look at you “You will stay in my sons marui of course and I will come by later to check how you are doing” she said with a fake smile.
Not wanting to anger her more you simply nodded turning towards Aonung since Ronal walked back into the healers tent.
“I-” “Do not speak to me vrrtep!” He hissed at you turning around walking off leaving you alone. Aonung couldn’t believe what was happening to him, he didn’t want a mate especially not a human mate.
Groaning in frustration he made his way to a certain marui hoping to relive some of his stress before having to return to you.

Oneshot request:)
Can you maybe do one where the reader is struggling with anxiety during a mission or something, and Loki comforts them throughout? Just a little fluff:)
Hi! Thank you for the request! Hope this is okay! I drew from my own experiences with anxiety, so it may not be the same for everyone (well, obviously it isn’t but you know what I mean!). 💚
Small Victories (Loki x GN!Reader)
Summary: Loki helps you get through your anxiety during a mission. (Avenger!Loki, subtle fluff, friends to lovers vibe)
Tumblr media
Today was an off today. It had started like any other, but that didn’t mean that you didn’t wake up exactly the same as the day before. You would get days like this, days where things just felt… too much. You couldn’t explain why, or exactly how, but they just did. Your mind felt like it was racing, your heart beating a little faster, sounds made you startle easier and that dread that seemed to linger in your bones only grew more pronounced as the day went on. You wanted to hide away, let it pass… But unfortunately, life as an Avenger had other plans.
Currently, you were moving down the halls of an old Hydra base, having got information that a new terrorist group had gotten access to it, intending to find information, or even better plans for weapons, that had been left behind. The base had only recently been discovered with this groups movements, who had been on Stark’s radar for the last few days. But today was really not the day for a mission…
With every step you took, you could feel that needling dread, that doubt that creeped into your mind - doubt of your abilities, the weight of your responsibilities…
Focus. You had to focus.
“Do you copy, Agent?” Loki’s voice suddenly came through your earpiece, and you realised you had completely missed something he had said. You take a quiet breath, lifting your hand to activate comms on your earpiece.
“Sorry, what did you say?” You asked, eyes scanning the area, keeping - or trying to - your wits about you. Truthfully, Loki had noticed you earlier in the day, and on the journey to the base. You had seemed distant, a little out of sorts. And annoyingly for him, he found himself… concerned of sorts. Unfortunately, you had managed to worm your way into the heart of the God of Mischief, much to his dismay and joy. It was quite the contradiction, but he was Loki after all, so that wasn’t so surprising.
“I said, I’m making my way to you.” Loki repeated the statement he had made a minute ago.
“Okay.” You murmured, hearing a noise behind you down the hall. Whipping around, you saw movement, and for a moment you thought maybe it was Loki, but you quickly realised it wasn’t. It was the enemy. You felt your heart stutter for a second before quickly reaching for your gun, firing a warning shot towards the figure as you sidestepped towards one of the old labs in the hall, hearing the enemy fire a shot in return. The sound made you startle, your nerves beginning to fray due to your anxiety. “Damn it-“ You hissed, mentally chiding yourself.
However, just as you reached the door, a wave of familiar green seidr flickered down the corridor, immediately knocking the the figure at the end back, making them drop their weapon and hit the wall behind them, falling unconscious to the ground. You barely had time to register the two hands that landed on your shoulders, turning you round.
Loki gazed at you, brows furrowed as he took in the slighter wider look to your eyes, the way your breaths were quicker and a little shallow. “Agent, look at me.” He calmly commanded, lowering his head slightly to catch your gaze. “Focus on my voice.” He continued. “I need you to take a few deep breaths, and take a moment.” He nodded faintly, a subtle, silent encouragement.
You finally met his gaze, your eyes searching his as he exuded the firm calm you craved. His hands on your shoulders remained, keeping you grounded as you tried to do as he said. You took deep, slower breaths, trying to get your heart beat to follow suit.
“Good.” Loki murmured, his eyes flickering around to ensure there was no more danger. “Keep going.” His eyes then turned to the door you had planned on going through, deciding it was best to get out of the open. Removing one of his hands from your shoulders, he reached for the door, swiftly opening it before ushering you inside with his other hand shifting from your shoulder to your back. “That’s it, take a second.” He continued, giving you something to focus on.
Once inside the abandoned lab, out of immediate sight of any potential threats, he once again stood before you. He could see the way your hands had moved to clench into fists, quickly unclenching before tightening into balls again, over and over - repetitive self-soothing motion. He hated the way it tugged at his heart, something he had been very adamant about being fortified. Yet, in this moment, it was very clear it wasn’t quite as protected as he had portrayed it to be.
Without a second thought, his cool hands caught yours, holding them gently as his thumbs brushed over your knuckles in a similarly soothing way. “It’ll pass.” He said quietly, ensuring he held your gaze. “Trust me.” He added, lowly.
The sensation of his hands holding yours were a balm, his words an anchor amidst the storm in your mind. You continued to steady your breaths the best you could, before hearing Tony’s voice come through comms.
“Reindeer games, report?” That made you lose focus for a moment, making your breaths hitch as you lost your rhythm. Loki felt a flare of irritation at Tony’s interruption, even if it was unfounded, as he reached to remove your earpiece.
“Stay focused.” Loki reminded you, keeping the earpiece in his palm as his hand returned to yours, this time holding your fingers between his thumb and index finger gently whilst his other remained holding your hand completely. “Forget the mission, your current mission is to get past this, alright?”
After a minute or so, with Loki’s gentle encouragements and soothing gestures, you began to feel the anxiety that had been gripping out begin to ebb. Your breaths evened out, your heart slowing to its usual rhythm. The thoughts that had been swirling in your head quietened, focusing solely on the moment, on Loki. Loki released his own quiet breath of relief, unable to stop the small swell of pride and satisfaction he felt at being able to help you through the moment.
Wordlessly, you gave a small nod, silently telling him it had passed - for now. Loki gave a gentle squeeze to your hand, loosening his grip before his hand slid up your arm to rest on your bicep. “There.” He breathed out softly. “It’s passed.”
You felt a flicker of embarrassment at allowing yourself to get so overwhelmed on a mission, your job was to be focused and precise, and yet this episode had prevented you from doing that. The one thing you were there to do… Loki could sense the frustration within you, seeing it clearly in the way your brows twitched.
“We all have our moments.” He sighed quietly, tilting his head faintly as he regarded you, his thumb subconsciously brushing the fabric of your mission gear on your arm. “They always strike in the most unideal moments.” A pause. “But you got past it, and you didn’t let it consume you.” His blue eyes flickered over your features. “Small victories.”
His words helped ease some of your worries, and there was gratitude in your own eyes as you gazed at him. It was a look that made a flicker of warmth appear in Loki’s chest, that earlier pride returning. For a God that had previously often sought to bring chaos, it was… nice… to be doing the opposite for a change. Especially with someone who he held in high regard - even if he wouldn’t admit that aloud. Not quite yet, anyway.
“Thank you.” You finally spoke, voice low. Loki didn’t say anything, simply squeezing your arm one last time before letting his hand fall back to his side. He then held out his hand that held your earpiece, offering it back to you.
“Or I could send it to my pocket dimension and we simply tell Stark that it was lost?” He mused playfully, raising a brow, hoping to draw a small smile to your lips - which he managed to do. You shook your head faintly, reaching to take it from his palm.
“And hear him complain about how much they cost even though he’s a billionaire?” You murmured wryly in return. “No, thank you.” Loki felt his own lips tug into a smirk at your humour, giving an elegant nod.
“Very well.” He accepted, watching you place the small device back into your ear. “Shall we venture back out into the unknown?” He stepped back slightly, gesturing towards the door with a dramatic flair. “I’m told I’m a rather good partner.”
You huffed wryly at that, raising a brow. “By who?” You teased, moving towards the door.
“Myself.” Loki replied playfully, pleased to see you were slowly beginning to return to your usual self. He understood that the anxiety would likely linger, but he silently vowed he would be there to ensure it couldn’t consume you.
He wouldn’t allow it.

Hidden In The Shadows Pt. 2
Tumblr media
Part 1 Here
Pairing: Matt Sturniolo X Female Reader
Synopsis: Y/N is awoken with fear and feels the shadows of anxiety constantly creeping up on her. Trying to find out more about this town some boundaries are crossed, and some weird things are done….keep reading to find out more📞
Warnings⚠️: Paranoid reader, weirdo locals, talks of cult and rituals andddd that’s about it???😏
Song for imagine: I Walk The Line: Joaquin Phoenix
I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you’re mine
I walk the line
Right
Left
Right
Left, no right….
Right again?
Then a left? Fuck I think I’m lost?
It’s so fucking dark, just pay attention
One more left and then I should be
BANG
I jumped up immediately confused, I was blinded by the bright light of the sun and the loud bang of a shotgun?
I opened my eyes fully and felt so confused, I squinted as I looked in front of me
“Matt?” I asked shielding my eyes from the sun
“Don’t worry now darlin they’re coming for us” he said offering me his hand
It was only then that I finally realized my surroundings. I was deep in a corn field, not just deep; but at the core where they usually have the scarecrows. It was such an eerie sight!
Frantically I looked around at my surroundings, I was laying on the ground in my pajamas from the night before.
“What? How did I get here? I’m so confused” I said rubbing my head and looking around
“It’s okay sweetheart, listen sleepwalking is normal” Matt said looking down at me
“I don’t sleep walk” I stated shaking my head rapidly
“You’re in a new surrounding and your body just isn’t used to it, I think you tried to leave but you were still asleep” he said lending his hand out to me
“No you don’t understand, I don’t do that…. I mean how did you even find me?” I asked him after grabbing his hand to lift myself up
“Well you see I went to round up Bertha this mornin’ and I saw your front door open, cept’ you wasn’t round. I called out your name, but nothing. But then I noticed footprints in the dirt down yonder by your driveway. They lead to the cornfield and I yelled your name again, but still nuffin. I rounded up my boys and told them I was going in and I'd shoot off this shotgun once I found you. They’ll be coming in to help us out” he said looking at me with soft eyes
“God this is so weird…. Thank you! I appreciate it. I’m sorry for the trouble this morning” I said to him as I offered him a weak smile
“Nahh don’t worry about it I’m just glad I was able to find you before something happened” he said to me
“Is there something I should be worried about in this field?” I asked cocking my brows at him
“Oh no no it’s just wild animals that are brave and try huntin in the mornin” he said smiling at me
Shortly his friend came in to help us out of the field. They led the way while I was in the back. Matt looked back at me every couple seconds to make sure I was okay. A nice gesture but I still felt super uncomfortable.
“Right, left, right, left no right….right again? Then a left? Fuck I think I’m lost” one of his friends whisper shouted
My head shot up and my eyes widened….that is exactly the last thing I remember hearing…. I immediately became uneasy and anxious
The other boys nudged him and whispered curses at him as they pushed him to walk faster.
“You come to pick corn every couple days and you can’t find your way out?” Matt asked him trying to ease the awkward silence and weird tension in the air
“No no! I’m good don’t worry bout it” he shouted back to Matt as he stomped on the ground, pushing through the field
Leading me out of the cornfield I thanked them as Matt walked me back to my house. Looking down as I walked my feet dirty with dried up mud. And my pajamas caked in dirt….I seemed a bit too dirty for someone who just happened to stroll into a corn field.
Walking me up to my door I turned to Matt and smiled at him, opening my mouth I began
“Listen I’m sorry for the trouble once again, and this isn’t something I normally do like ever; but just know this will never happen again” I said to him
“No worries! Just calm your nerves ain’t nothing wrong with this town to make you so jumpy instantly” he says laughing a bit
“Right….well I’m going to head in now. As you can see I’m a bit dirty” I say laughing
“Of course! I’ll see you round” he says before nodding his head and taking off
Stepping into the house I shut the door behind me almost instantly locking it. I stomped upstairs to the bathroom. I got the shower running as I removed my dirty clothes and looked at my body. I had a few scratches but nothing that seemed abnormal….. was I going insane? Was I now a sleep walker? Or was something darker going on already?
I shook it off and hopped in the shower. Once I was done and got dressed I decided to sit on my couch, chewing at my nails as my leg bounced up and down. This anxiety was clawing at me and I couldn’t stop it.
Pulling my phone out I opened my emails and saw I had a new email from my old professor
Dear Y/N,
I can’t believe you actually bit the bullet and went! This is awesome and I’m looking forward to hearing all about your experiences. I read those articles and it’s actually crazy! I did a few more google searches and even ended up on Reddit. Supposedly Thomas Sturniolo has family out in Pleasant Town. I wonder if they still use the same name and if you’ll ever run into them! And as far as the realtor guy he for sure sounds like a weirdo! Haha, who has that name anymore? But then again it is a small town in the south! Please keep me posted!
Sincerely, Professor Wayne
I sighed with relief at the email back from him, for a split second I felt like I had some normality in my life, and I decided to email him back
Dear Professor Wayne,
Thank you for getting back to me! I’ll for sure keep an eye out for any Sturniolos! I sure hope they don’t go by that same name anymore, but I’m still not sure. I’d have to go to the local library and search the database. Who even knows if they have a library here….sure doesn’t seem like it!
However something so weird happened to me last night. I think I was sleepwalking? I’ve never done that before, but I have no recollection of the night before. I must be an extreme deep sleeper! But how does one end up muddy in the middle of a cornfield and not wake up? Am I being paranoid, or am I right to be a little concerned? I mean this was only the first night…. I think I’m just scaring myself! Anyways, I hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely, Y/N Y/L/N
Hitting send I sighed as I laid my phone down on the couch. Rubbing my hands through my hair as I shook my head. That uneasy feeling went away as soon as I realized how hungry I was.
Remembering I never got to go out last night I decided to hit the stores today. However I didn’t know where anything was and I was on edge, so I decided to see if Matt was available to take me to the stores.
Stepping outside I locked my front door, and to my surprise Matt was outside tuning something in his car. I looked both ways before crossing the dirt road
“Hey Matt” I said to the young man as his arm cranked rapidly while his tongue was in between his teeth, in a fit of concentration
“Oh hey darlin” he says quickly snapping out of it and looking at me
“I really don’t mean to bother, but I was wondering if you’d be willing to take me to your nearest market so I can get some food” I said to him smiling
“Oh sure thing, let me finish tightening this and we can take my truck” he says smiling at me
“Sure thing” I say backing up
Cranking the wrench again he gave a satisfied face once he realized the piece was fixed. Matt shut the hood…well more like slammed it before dusting his hands off. Using a handkerchief in his pocket to wipe them clean fully.
“My uhh, my passenger side door doesn’t work or else I’d be opening it for you on that side” he stated as he opened the driver side door and looked back at me
“Oh that’s alright I appreciate it” I said as I patted his arm and hopped into his truck
He hopped in after me and shut the door, starting the car up. His tongue stuck out between his lips as the ignition sputtered and then his engine roared to life
“Now that’s what I’m talkin bout” he said tapping the steering wheel
“Did you fix her up?” I asked him as I looked inside the car
“Oh I sure did! 1950 Chevy 3100 . Belonged to my great grandpa and it got handed down to me. I fixed her up nicely. New paint job, new interior and new parts” he said smiling while looking at me
“It’s really nice, to see a car this old running fantastically” I replied back to him
“Yeah, I mean it didn’t need much. My great grandpa got it as his retirement car but then he passed away and it was left to my pops who didn’t care for it, so he left it to me” he replied
“Wow, this is awesome though. I love old cards so much” I replied nodding my head at him
Nodding back we sat in silence, the breeze of the warm air and the sound of a faint country song playing in the background.
“Say you guys wouldn’t happen to have a library here would you?” I asked suddenly
“Oh we do! The smallest library in all of the United States” he said looking over at me
“Fuck yes, is it cool if I stop by there for a bit?” I asked him
“Sure thing darlin” he stated back
About 10 minutes later we were in their “city” which was probably the furthest thing from a city. Everything was right next to each other. Pulling into a parking spot we hopped out. Matt held onto my hand as he helped me hop out of his truck.
Offering a smile as I silently thanked him. Leading me over to the local market they had there. He had gone his way as I grabbed a cart and began to shop.
The buzzing of the old light fixtures and the ominous silence made me a bit queasy. Looking over my shoulders every couple of seconds.
As I was grabbing a couple of basic necessities as far as food I made my way over to the laundry detergent. Scanning what they add and silently choosing my options. I heard giggling to the left of me, so I turned my head, and to my surprise there was a group of kids no younger than 10 looking at me and laughing. Some of the kids even stared at me with wide eyes….almost like they knew me. I offered a polite smile and grabbed what I needed.
I headed down to the frozen section in the back of the store. Looking at the milk options I heard the whispered chatter again and the laughs. So I looked into the glass reflection and saw those same kids staring at me. Getting fed up I abruptly turned around
“It’s not nice to stare” I said to them bluntly
“Ye ain’t s’pose to be here” One taller boy said almost like he was growling at me? Like a dog?
“Says Who?” I asked him cocking a brow at him
“Ye just ain’t” he said again glaring at me with his cold eyes
“You don’t own the town” I said sucking my teeth at him
“Ohh my daddy’s gone’ be real upset when he sees you here” The boy said as his friends snickered with him
“You’re such a little shit” I mumbled under my breath as I turned around and rolled my eyes
“You better get out here before you stuck forever” One of his little friends said
I ignored him, but I couldn’t ignore the chill that ran up my spine at that statement. These people were such fucking weirdos and one more instance was going to be my sign to pack up and leave.
Too into my thoughts, my hand had gripped the handle to the door roughly as I fought with myself. Zoning out completely I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulder
“You alright?” I heard from behind me
I jumped and gasped before looking over my shoulder, a calmness taking over once I saw it was Matt.
“Yeah…yeah sorry I guess I got distracted” I said shaking my head
“Too many milk options?” He asked laughing
“You could say that” I replied wiping sweat off my forehead
“I’ll wait for you outside you seem a bit on edge” he said to me before backing away
“Alright thanks” I said to him
I quickly grabbed my milk and the last bit of groceries I needed. Heading to checkout before meeting Matt outside.
“Oh darlin you should’ve yelled for some help, let me get that for you” he replied taking some bags from me
“It ain’t nothing, I appreciate it though” I stated smiling at him
Matt and I put the groceries back in the truck, and he showed me to the library.
“Whatcha here looking for?” He asked me as we strolled down the aisles
“Nothing in particular, maybe some history” I said smiling at him
“History?” He asked cocking a brow at me
“I love all things history” I replied back as my fingers danced along the cover of some books
“I hate to break it to you, but uhhh we ain’t got no history books” he said laughing
“And why is that?” I asked furrowing my brows
“About a year ago the whole history section was set on fire by some hooligans, damn near took out the whole back side of the library. Were just glad people was round to help stop the fire” he replied back
“How convenient” I said offering him a tight lip smile
“I mean they’re trying to get that back section up and running again but without the funds we can’t get it properly fixed nor get those books back” he stated shrugging his shoulders
“Man that sucks, but I guess romance books will suffice” I state to him
“Oh I hate that shit, I’ll be outside waiting for you” he said laughing
“Whatttt no Colleen Hoover? No Nicholas Sparks?” I asked him pretending to be offended
“Oh no that’s all you” he said laughing and throwing his hands up
I trotted over to the romance section as Matt left browsing the section before quickly looking for Matt. I saw that he crossed the street and headed into a bait and tackle shop.
Smiling to myself I trotted away from romance and walked around, looking for a worker. Once I found one I walked up to her
“I’m so sorry to bother, but I know this town is full of history and was an important asset to many people, where would I find records of all the important people from this town throughout history?” I asked the worker
“Oh yeah we have a format on our computers it should be open just scroll down to pleasant town history and it’ll show you everything you need” she replied back
“Thank you so much Faye! It was great meeting you” I said to her before walking away
Making sure Matt was still nowhere to be found I rushed over to a computer. I clicked Pleasant Town History. And it was dumbed down into categories. My eyes lit up once I found crop, animal and farm owners. Immediately clicking I scrolled through the names.
“Stacey….Stanley….Stuart……Stu…..Sturnham….” My eyes squinted once I saw the next name was actively crossed out with a black border over the name.
Counting through the alphabet I realized “I” was after “H”…… it only took a few seconds before my eyes widened. Sturniolo? It was gone….scratched from this list?
I went over to homeowners and Sturniolo was blocked out once again, I slowly went to car owners, Chevy 3100 truck….. Sturnham…. And then blocked out again?
The gears started to click and I immediately became anxious. There could be no possible way that….hes Matts great grandfather? Right??
I figured there’s no way Matt could be related to someone like that. I mean yes he was a weirdo, but nothing like that…..
I exited out of everything and quickly walked to the exit. Swinging the door open I slammed into someone.
“Woah little lady where you headed” I heard Matt say laughing
“Sorry, didn’t see you there” I said frantically
“Oh no worries….found what you were looking for?” He asked raising an eyebrow
“What?” I asked as I swallowed thickly
“A romance book? Did you find one you were interested in?” He asked a bit puzzled
“Oh no uhhh none that peaked my interest” I stated smiling at him
“Well it’s almost lunch time, so I’m planning on heading back home” he said to me
“Yes, lunch! Very important, let's go!” I said nervously as I walked to his car
Matt peered at me with a bent neck and furrowed brows, but I just smiled at him as he followed me back to his truck.
Hopping in we headed back home, and to my surprise Matt helped me bring the grocery bags in.
“Here uhh let me make you lunch to say thanks” I said to Matt as I grabbed the loaf of bread from his hands
“Oh no sweetheart, don’t worry bout it” he said smiling
“No please! It’s the least I could do” I said to him nodding my head
“Well alright” he replied giving in
“How’s peanut butter and jelly with some milk?” I asked him
“Sounds mighty fine” he replied back nodding his head
I made our sandwiches and poured us some milk as we sat across from one another. Slowly eating as we occasionally exchanged glances.
“So uh..” I started
“Great sandwich” Matt said smacking his lips to get the peanut butter down
“Oh thank you” I replied giggling as I took a sip of my milk
“You seemed a bit on edge earlier, is everything alright?” He asked me as he took a sip as well
“Oh yeah, just some kids saying weird things to me. Makes me feel unsafe” I said to him
“What did they say?” He asked sitting up in his chair
“That I don’t belong here and I should leave before something happens?” I said rubbing my forehead
“Little bastards….listen don’t pay attention to a word they say. Those little assholes have nothing better to do than pick on people” he replied shaking his head
“Yeah I figured, but with the weird morning I was having I just freaked myself out” I said to him
“Understandable, but don’t worry you’re safe here” he replied offering me a warm smile
“I uhh… i have a question” I said to him
“Spill the beans then” he said ushering me to talk
“You see I did some research today in the library” I said to him
“Ahhh so no romance books” he said laughing
“No, but there seems to be something weird with the information on this town” I said to him
“You were looking up this town because?” He asked chewing a bit slower
“Well I want to learn more about where I’m living” I said in a duh tone
“Okay…” he replied a bit annoyed
“Who’s the Sturniolos and why is that name scratched out of almost all the public records?” I asked him
Immediately I regretted my decision. Something switched in the boy and his eyes grew cold as his nostrils flared. He slid his tongue along the front of his teeth. Inhaling sharply he slammed his hand down on the table
I gasped and jumped at this, my eyes popping out of my head.
“You don’t mention that name, you don’t read about that name and you sure as hell don’t think about that FUCKING NAME” he said yelling the last part
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry I didn’t mean to upset you I swear” I said starting to frantically panic
“That name has destroyed everything good in this town. We don’t claim that man or his bloodline. He’s done unimaginable and unforgivable things” Matt said pursing his lips together and grinding his teeth
“Please forgive me Matt. I meant no harm at all just wanting to know some history. I swear I meant nothing by it” I replied throwing my hands up
“It’s alright, I’m sorry sweetheart for scaring you. I just haven’t gotten over what that evil man did” he replied calming down
“No it’s my fault” I said to him
“It’s not your fault” he replied finishing his milk
“I’m truly sorry” I stated once again
“I’ll meet you tonight at 7pm, I’ll take you to dinner and I’ll explain a little more about that man” he said to me nodding his head
“Oh alright” I said to him nodding my head
With that he put his dishes in the sink and stomped out the house. The rattle of the front door sent a shiver down my spine.
Later that evening I had gotten ready, stepping out my front door and locking it. I turned around to see Matt already waiting by his car for me
Hopping in we headed back into that same area from earlier. Taking me into one of the restaurants we sat for dinner. Using this as my advantage to squeeze some more information out of matt.
“This place is really nice” I said to him obviously lying through my teeth
“Bet it’s nothing like Vegas” he said pushing my chair in for me
“Well not much can beat Vegas, but for a small town this is a nice place” I replied to him
“This is my favorite spot even since I was a kid” he said looking over at me
“Have you always lived here?” I asked him
“My whole life” he said back
“Wow… and you’ve never been anywhere else?” I asked him
“No never, mama says there ain’t much for me to see out there anyway” he said
“With all due respect to your mother…. I disagree. There’s a whole world out there you have yet to see” I said to him
Cracking a smile at me he nodded, his eyes glazing over and shimmering with a saddened look….. one that screams I’m trapped and will never be able to leave
The dinner went well and I learned a lot about his childhood, but nothing about the town. However, that was until we walked the town a bit.
“So about earlier, I just want to say that man was an evil man. He lied, manipulated, stole and killed all for his personal benefit.” Matt said to me
“Did your family have personal ties to him?” I asked him as we walked
“Sort of. He had a farm and he watched my ancestors' animals ... .except instead he killed them. Believing in some weird ritual. Saying how these cult rituals would bring the town fortune” he said shaking his head
“And I’m guessing that was false” I scoffed a bit
“Oh very wrong…. And he was arrested, my ancestors had no animals and because they had no animals they couldn’t make money nor survive really. They spent a lot of time moving around Oklahoma before they could eventually come back here” he replied shrugging his shoulders
“Holy shit…that’s awful” I said exhaling
“It is but hey there’s not much else to do other than move on” he said to me
“Well I appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me…. And I’m sorry for bringing it up randomly earlier…it was wrong” I said to him
“It’s alright darlin” he said smiling and bumping my shoulder with his own
We walked around a bit more before heading back to our houses a little after 9pm. We enjoyed the breezy and quiet drive home.
Parking his car by his house he walked me over to my own house.
“Oh thank you Matt you didnt have walk me over” I stated smiling at him
“I would never leave a pretty lady to walk home alone at night” he said smiling at me
Looking down and blushing slightly I shook my head
“I enjoyed today a lot, thank you very much” I said to him
“You’re welcome sugar” he said back
“I’m going to head in for the night and get some shut eye. I’m super tired” I said yawning
“Me too! We’ll have a good night Y/N” he said to me
“Goodnight Matt” I replied back
Smiling at him I pulled him in for a friendly hug, and to my surprise he actually hugged back.
“I’ll see you tomorrow” I stated pulling away
“Goodnight” he said smiling at me and waving bye
I shut the door and locked it, making my way up to my room and preparing for bed.
Matts POV
Watching the young woman shut the door his smile dropped, and guilt and shame immediately filled his heart and mind. So taken aback by the hug and how nice Y/N was to him today he didn’t know how to feel.
Walking down the steps of her porch, he trotted over to his own house. Slipping in quietly and locking the door behind him. Silently slithering into his room he shut and locked the door.
Putting his pajamas on he laid on his bed as the moonlight lightly casted in through his windows. His mind wandered as he remembered what took place almost 19 hours prior….
Flashback
“Will you shut the fuck up and pick the lock faster” I yelled at my friend
“Well Matt I’m tryin but it’s dark out here” Bo said back to me in anger
“Just hurry” I said through gritted teeth
Within 30 seconds we heard the click and sighed in relief. Quietly ushering into Y/N’s house, we shut the door behind ourselves.
“Nate you pass me the chloroform and Bo and I will bring her downstairs” I said to my other friend
“Sure thing” he said nodding his head
Walking up the stairs we turned to the left and walked to the door that was closed. To our surprise it was her bedroom.
We walked in and I walked up to Y/N
“Y/N! Wake up” I said to her as I shook her
Jumping up out of her sleep she seemed confused and scared, but snapping my fingers I signaled to Nate. Instantly he handed me the chloroform and a rag, dozing the rag in the chemical I held it over her nose. Immediately she fell limp into my arms.
Nate took the supplies out of my hands and Bo came over to help me. Pulling her from under her arms we dragged her down the stairs.
“Leave the front door open so it seems like she left on her own” I said to Nate
“Got it” he replied eagerly
Rushing out the house we dragged her through the gravel and when we got to the dirt road Bo and I stood her up. Leaving footprints from the end of her driveway to the start of the cornfield.
“What about our footprints?” Bo asked me as we approached the corn field
“We’ll worry about that later come on” I said to him
Dragging Y/N into the center of the corn field we laid her down. Arms spread out and ankles touching.
“Are you sure you know how to do a sacrifice?” Nate asked me
“I learned from my grandfather and my dad I know what I’m doing” I replied back to him
“I don’t know this seems like too much” Nate said to me
“You’re getting cold feet now? After all this! You told me you were ready” I stated getting angry at him
“I know, but this seems all too much” Nate stated
“You don’t think I feel the same way? I said squinting at him in anger
“Man I think we should wait” Nate said
“You’re such a pussy” Bo said laughing at the boy
“I’m not ready” Nate said to us
“FINE! FINE! We’ll figure this out for another day” I said standing up
“Because of this chicken shit?” Bo said standing up
“I need everyone to be on board, so if one’s out then we’re all out” I said shaking my head
“Come on man” Bo said shaking his head
“Let’s go! help me get her up, we gotta get her back to her house” I said shaking my head
It started to drizzle as we lifted Y/N up. Holding her by her arms as we dragged her through the field.
“Right, Left ,Right, Left, no right….Right again? Then a left? Fuck I think I’m lost?” Bo said as we trotted through the cornfield
The rain became heavier which made it harder for us to see, and slippery. Our boots got stuck in the wet dirt.
“Fuck it’s dark! I need to pay attention” He said loudly as he wiped the water from his eyes
“Where am I? What’s going on?” Y/N started to say in a drunken groggy state
“Fuck….we gotta go” I said looking at Bo
“Matt? Is that you? What’s going on?” She asked as she tried to stand up
“Shhhh” I said to her
“I’m really scared, what's going on?” She asked starting to cry
“Chloroform now” I said to Nate
Nate quickly wet the rag again in Chloroform and shoved it in Y/N’s face. Choked whines of agony escaped her lips before she fell limp again.
“Bring her back to the center” I yelled over the rain
“What! Are you crazy?” Bo yelled at me
“We have to bring her back, this is all messy! I’ll tell her a good story in the morning. She’ll believe me. Come on” I said frantically
Dragging her back through the mud her pants and feet were completely caked in mud. Shaking my head we laid her on her back again.
She was knocked out cold, but I really hoped she stood that way till I came to “rescue” her in the morning.
The three of us ran back out of the corn field eventually. Not having to worry about our footprints because they would match up with my story of us going on the lookout for her!
Flashback over
Matt was disgusted with what he had done. He was no better than the sick men that once ruled this town. He tried to push the feelings deep down but they kept bubbling to the surface.
Forcing his eyes shut and trying to fall asleep. Praying he could somehow find a way to make this all better….
But for now he was hidden in the shadows of his mind and the only escape was….
You.
The End
This will most def have another part LOLLL, I’m sorry this took me forever to get out, but I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did🤭🖤. I wonder how I’m going to play out the next part. There are two universal truths in life.
The first is that the coffee shop you frequent on your way to work will and will always have the best cold brew you’ve ever tasted. The second is that Jamie Tartt will and will always be a massive fucking prick, and you’ll never see him again for as long as you live.
These are two things you live by, and while they may seem rather mundane or petty in the grand scheme of things, they are the only truths you can count on these days. Especially when everything else is so up in the air.
However, the universe doesn’t seem to believe in these things as blindly as you do, and this becomes evident the moment that you step into the shop on a gloomy Wednesday morning. Because these two truths (well, they’re fucking bald-faced lies now aren’t they, huh?) are broken within approximately two minutes of each other with seven words.
It began when you greeted Natalia, the barista who was here every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday before your shift at the clinic with a wide smile. As soon as she saw your face, her expression turned apologetic, albeit a bit dazed.
“You’re gonna hate me,” she says, putting her hands on either side of the register. Your brows shot up at her words. “We just ran out of cold brew.”
Your face falls. “You’re kidding.”
“We were low on it this morning,” she starts to explain, “our stupid night-shifters didn’t prep enough last night. And it’s been selling like crazy today.”
“Seriously?” you nearly whine. “I might cry.”
“I’m sorry, Doc,” she apologizes, but she doesn’t sound too apologetic. Natalia’s eyes keep shifting to your left, the dazed look in her eye never faltering. Then, she says the fated seven words. “But he took the last of it.”
You turn your head in the direction she’s been looking, and your blood runs completely cold. You think you could drop dead and go to hell at this very moment, and it’d be a better existence than what awaits you in the next five minutes. And while this all may sound dramatic, you don’t care.
You don’t care because Jamie fucking Tartt is standing across from you, newly long hair peeking out from beneath his hood. He’s engrossed in whatever’s on his phone, fingers flying back and forth like he’s texting.
You think you could run. You’re pretty sure you could successfully make a break for it and leave Natalia high and dry without him seeing you. It’d be an easy exit, and you’d never have to see him again.
But then, as if he can feel your eyes on him, he looks up. And the second he meets your gaze, his face falls in what you can imagine was a similar fashion to yours.
Fuck.
Luckily, Natalia is none the wiser. She barely notices your expression, and with Jamie by the pick-up area, she can’t see the way he’s looking at you. So, instead of questioning you, she straight-up giggles.
“I know,” she practically squeals. “I was totally going to save you the last of it, but he asked for it. And I mean, c’mon. It’s Jamie Tartt. I couldn’t possibly say no to him.”
You tragically know that feeling all too well. Knowing you probably would have had a snappier, more cutting response to that if you weren’t in the most debilitating phase of shock, you settle for a quiet, “It’s okay.” You nod at her, brushing it off in an attempt to be casual. “I can settle for an espresso today.”
Natalia nods, tapping it into her register. “Same size as usual?”
“Yeah,” you say, not completely sure what you’re agreeing to. You glance over again at Jamie and find that he’s still standing there, staring at you, and you immediately blink away. “That’s fine.”
The rest of the transaction feels as though it takes a millennium and three seconds all at once. You’re still caught off guard by the time Natalia gives you your receipt with a dazed look in your eye that now matches hers.
However, yours isn’t because you just saw your favorite Richmond player or your favorite reality show villain. It’s because you’ve just seen your ex-boyfriend and you’re about to walk over and stand next to him for a prolonged period of time.
Nothing about this scenario feels real. You hadn’t seen him in four years. Not since things ended as ugly as they had, with him leaving you sobbing outside of a club at three in the morning, letting you know that things were over between you two. And he hadn’t even given you a reason. It was just that he wasn’t ‘feeling’ it anymore.
You saw in a tabloid about three months later that he was now seeing Keeley Jones (yeah, having to compete with that did not sit well with you at all) and had drawn your assumptions from there. Whether or not he’d been seeing her behind your back or had broken up with you to be with her, you didn’t know. You didn’t care. You were in your anger stage of the break-up and only knew one thing.
Jamie Tartt was a massive fucking prick, and you’d sooner walk on a bed of nails before you saw him again.
But now here he was. And there were no nails to be found.
You avoid eye contact as you pass him to wait for your coffee. There’s a piece of you that wants to say hi and play it cool, just to put on a show for him about how unaffected you were by everything that had happened. The other piece of you hopes that not a word is said for your entire time here.
Unfortunately, neither of those happen.
Jamie slides over to be near you, awkwardly rocking back and forth on his heels. His hands are stuffed in his sweatshirt pocket, and you wait for him to say something. Anything. But he doesn’t.
Instead, you can feel the ‘play it cool’ part of you rise up to the surface. You could do this. You could feign indifference. Fuck him, you could be cool.
You glance over at him and see that he’s pressing his lips together, eyes shifting around the coffee shop. It’s crazy how familiar you still are with his tells to know he’s desperately looking for a way to say something.
You say it for him. “Hi,” you say simply. Cool and unaffected.
It’s as if the one word alone makes him flinch. He clearly wasn’t expecting you to say anything. “Hi—” He clears his throat after his greeting comes out cracked, and he stuffs his hands further in his pockets. “Hey.”
The awkwardness of this moment is killing you, and it’s taking everything in you to pretend like it's not. As you search for something else to say, you land on, “You took my cold brew.”
You can see his brows shoot up out of the corner of your eye. “Oh, fuck, did I?”
You nod slowly. “Yeah,” you tell him. “I come in here every morning. Friends with the barista. Said she was going to save me the last of it, but…” You trail off and finally look at him. “She couldn’t say no to Jamie Tartt, apparently.”
You want to jump up and down about how well you’re doing right now. Maybe you are over him. Maybe you’ve finally moved past this shit, and seeing him once more is all you needed to solidify that. Maybe—
The second he chuckles softly with an apologetic smile, your confidence in those things shoots down. “I’m sorry,” he says.
“Since when do you drink cold brew, anyway?” you ask, frustrated with the fact that he’s fucking laughing in front of you. “You were always a like, caramel macchiato or frappuccino asshole.”
The names make him laugh harder, shaking his head. “Don’t like those anymore,” he responds. “Sugar hurts me teeth. Tryin’ somethin’ new.”
“Yeah,” you mutter. “My fucking coffee.”
That chuckle continues with a shrug. “I’m sorry.” he says again. Then he pauses. “But it’s not like your name was on it, or anythin’.”
Your face draws blank, and immediately, Jamie can tell he’s made a misstep. And it’s not that you’re angry about the joke, it’s just the… everything. Him. The situation. Everything you can remember that you wonder if he bothers to remember too.
Before you can walk away, you feel his hand on your arm. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he repeats for a third time, turning you so that you’ll look at him. Your pissed-off expression meets his easy smile and it only fuels your anger more. “I was jokin’. I’m sorry I took your coffee. We can get ‘em to put your name on it if you want.”
“Whatever,” you mutter. It’s not the most mature thing you could have said, but frankly, you don’t care. You just want to get your consolation espresso and get the hell out of here. “What are you even doing over here anyway?”
You’re not sure why you ask it. You don’t know why you keep the conversation going. Jamie looks just as surprised as you are. “I moved over here a couple weeks ago,” he answers. “Got sick of the old place.”
“Can’t imagine why,” you reply. By the way that Jamie snorts, you know he recalls just how much you hated his apartment when you knew him. It screamed twenty-two-year-old AFC-money shithead and you would tease him about it constantly. “Was the empty beer bottle sculpture finally giving you mold poisoning?”
He chuckles again. “That came down shortly after we stopped talking.”
“Oh, so I was just lucky enough to see it in its final days?”
“Oi,” he says, pointing at you. “That thing was fuckin’ impressive and you know it.”
“Impressive in a dorm,” you shoot back. “Not a seven million pound flat.”
He bows his head in a guilty manner. “You remember that, huh?”
“Hard not to,” you answer. “You never stopped talking about it.”
He at least has the decency to wince at that one. “I know,” he says earnestly. It makes you look at him. He shrugs once more. “I wanted to impress ya.”
He did impress you. But not with things like that. He’d impress you when you watched him play, he’d impress you when he made you laugh, and he’d impress you on the rare occasion that he’d just be himself in front of you. Not some asshole footballer. Just him.
But you don’t say that. You say, “That wasn’t the way.”
“Yeah,” he chuckles mirthlessly. “Got that now.” He rocks back on his heels again, like he’s not sure if he should say whatever he wants to. “I was a proper fucking dick to you, wasn’t I?”
That almost makes you fall over. Did he just say that? Did he actually just admit that? Out loud, here, for everyone to hear? Accountability? Unprompted? From Jamie Tartt?
You want to glance around to see if Rod Sterling’s going to emerge from the bathroom to narrate the next couple of minutes of your life, but are too shocked to do so.
Your surprise must show in your eyes, because Jamie laughs to himself. “Yeah. Wild, innit?” He shakes his head. “On a bit of an apology tour this year. Trying to build back some bridges, or whatever.”
The nod you give him is slow, still reeling from all of this. “Right,” you say lamely. “Building bridges.”
“I’m serious,” he tells you and for a brief moment, you think he may just mean it. The sincerity in his eyes is clear. “I was terrible to you. And I’m sorry.”
Whatever you were expecting when you stepped into this coffee shop on this rainy Wednesday, it certainly wasn’t this. And you certainly weren’t expecting your first time reuniting with him to go this way— with him apologizing to you. The actual words ‘I’m sorry’ just left his mouth.
You genuinely don’t know who this is. Because it’s certainly not the Jamie you knew.
You saw flashes of this guy. Quiet moments during your short-lived relationship, typically when it was just the two of you. It’s the type of guy you always knew he could be if he tried. The type of guy you pushed him to be.
(Your friends always taunted you about having the ever-horrendous I-can-fix-him gene, and they never quite let go of it. But it’s not like it wasn’t true.)
Those flashes are why you held out for as long as you did. If it were anyone else, any other asshole who treated you the way he did, you would have dropped them in a second. But he wasn’t like that. Not always, at least.
It was terrible to think like that. You’d been in a low spot when you’d met him and had taken even lower when he left you. You’d recovered tenfold from that and now knew your worth.
But as he stands in front of you, apologizing, genuinely apologizing, and looking at you like that, you start to question it.
No! the logical part of your brain practically screams. Don’t you fucking dare.
You’re keen to listen to that for the time being. It hardens you. And all you can do is nod at him again. “Well, uh—” Your voice comes out hoarse. You cough awkwardly. “Yeah. You were. Terrible to me. And, uh… thank you. For saying that.”
So much for playing it cool. You want to slam your head up against the wall but hold yourself back from doing so.
He nods at you, opening his mouth to say something else before he’s interrupted by one of the baristas calling your name. His cold brew’s sitting on the counter too, something the two of you clearly missed in the middle of your conversation.
When you reach for your drink, he grabs his too. He’s still staring at you, biting the inside of his cheek like he wants to say something. When you go to move around him, he stops you.
“Look, I just—” You look up at him expectantly, and his shoulders deflate. “I know you probably want nothin' to do with me. But, I just… I want to talk to you.”
Your espresso is hot in your hands. “Well, that sounds like a you problem.”
That’s when he says your name. Your actual name. Not the nickname that everyone calls you, not a pet name that he used to use, he says your name. And it makes you stop in your tracks.
It’s so stupid. It’s so fucking dumb that your fucking name can send you back to the day you first met him and were completely taken with him. You hate it. And you hate the way it makes your walls come crumbling down.
“Please,” he begs. “Can we… Can I at least give you my number? It’s a new one, but I-I think I’ve still got yours. You don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. But just so you can… I don’t know? Think about it?”
You wouldn’t know if he still had your number. You blocked him ages ago. But you doubt it.
However, the more you think about it, the more you consider it. It’s the product of your resolve falling and well, everything else about him now. You think about it.
If you allowed him to give you his number, the ball would be in your court. You could do what you wanted with it. You could text him, you could tell him to fuck off, you could ignore him. It was up to you.
And you don’t know if that’s worse or better.
You decide on better. The second you sigh, Jamie knows he’s got you. A wide grin breaks out on his face as you hand him your phone. “I’ll think about it,” you mutter.
That’s good enough for him. He gives your phone back to you, new number inserted and new contact created. You’re glad he didn’t search for his old one. That one just says ASSHOLE in big capital letters with about a million gun emojis.
(That was done by your previous roommates in an effort to get you to move on from him. You thought it was a bit overdramatic. You were never one for emojis.)
He’s smiling when he holds his coffee out for you. You stare at him blankly, thinking he’s attempting to cheers you. Instead, he shakes his head and says, “Take it.”
You blink at him. “What?”
“Trade with me,” he clarifies and your expression turns to one of shock. “C’mon. You said it’s yours anyway, right?” When you don’t move he rolls his eyes. “Offer’s only good for another second. Me arm’s getting tired.”
At that, you sigh rather dramatically and grumble to yourself, trying not to act pleased by the gesture. You hand him your coffee and he gives you his. “Thanks,” you say. It was kind of him.
His grin returns and he nods at you. “Alright,” he says. After a slightly awkward beat, he steps back from you. “It was good to see you, Doc. Really.” You’re taken back by how genuine his voice sounds and say nothing in return. “I’ll talk to you later?”
He says it as a question, hopeful and well-meaning. “Yeah,” you tell him noncommittally. “Maybe.”
That too, is good enough for him. Because he sends you one more smile, then walks out of the coffee shop with your espresso in hand.
You’re still reeling from the interaction when you glance down at his your cold brew and see Natalia’s handwriting. She’s made it just as you like it, down to the milk and everything.
But below it is a small drawing. It’s a tiny shark fin with a #9 written inside, with little lettering circling around it.
Doo-doo-do-doo-do-do-doo.
You’re fucked.
Tumblr media
“Are you out of your fucking mind?” is the question that your best friend and former roommate Leah screams at you over drinks at a busy rooftop bar. So busy, in fact, that barely anyone looks over at the two of you.
You’d made the mistake of telling Leah that not only had you run into Jamie on Wednesday, but you’d let him give you his number.
And you’d texted him after hours of deliberation.
It was something innocent, something you’d thought way too much about, but innocent still. You weren’t sure if you were ready to actually talk to him, but there was something about texting him that wasn’t so scary. Your guard was clearly still up, evident by how dry you were in your messages, and you were keeping your distance. You never texted back too quickly, didn’t ask many questions, and often left him on read.
(Yeah, you’d turned your read receipts on for him. What about it?)
Your first text was a simple enough question, something that you’d been genuinely wondering about since you saw him. It was open enough for a conversation but not too forward. how’d you know my coffee order?
His response came in minutes later. Is that yours? Good taste. It was shortly followed up with, That espresso you drink was fucking disgusting though.
And that was that. That was how you started texting your ex again. That’s how you reconnected yourself with Jamie Tartt. That’s how you knew it was over for you.
And that’s how you’re pretty sure you’re about to kill your best friend.
Leah’s eyes were wild, somehow angry yet still disbelieving yet intrigued. But the intrigue was very minimal. Very minimal. It was hidden well by how pissed off she was at you.
She had every right to be pissed at you. She was the one who always warned you about him. She’d straight-up nursed you back to health when you broke up. She was the one who had to hear about him 24 hours a day until you were finally over him.
Leah had had a year of peace. And now you were killing her for good.
“You’re kidding, right?” she follows up with. Her grip on your arm is tight. “Please tell me your kidding.”
“Leah…” Your voice is weak.
It tells her everything she needs to know. “Oh, my God! Oh, my. God.” She puts her face in her hands. “You’re insane. You’re fucking losing it and we need to have you checked out right now.”
“I’m completely sentient and in control of my own body.”
“Are you sure?”
You sip at your cocktail. “I reset a knee today. I’m pretty sure.”
“I think you might need to reconsider,” she says. “Because you just told me that not only are you talking to Jamie Tartt again, but you were the one who instigated it!”
You deserve this verbal beatdown and you know it. But all you can do is shrug. “Technically, he gave me his number. He’s the one who instigated it.”
“I’m gonna throw my fucking drink in your face,” Leah threatens, gripping her glass in warning.
You roll your eyes at her. “Nothing’s gonna happen,” you say, even though you know you’re probably lying. Leah knows this too. “We’ve just been texting a little. It’s nothing serious.”
“Yeah, sure,” she deadpans. “Right. And even if I did believe you, what happens if it does? What happens if you get back in your weird, scary Jamie phase and he kills you again? I can’t deal with that.”
“That’s not going to happen,” you assure her, and this time it’s more confident. Because you know you won’t. Not this time. Not if anything happens.
You’d met Jamie when you were twenty-two. You were in your first year of your Masters program, slightly lost as in your move to London to finish your journey to become a physical therapist. Or a physio, as they called it here. Whatever. You couldn’t keep up with the names.
You were shadowing a physio at the clinic you now worked at, assisting him as a part of your internship at one of the football tournaments the clinic worked at. It was a ton of big-wig footballers, some names you recognized, others you didn’t. But it didn’t matter. They were precious fucking cargo and you were so paranoid about screwing up that you barely registered who they were when you worked on them.
That was, until a twenty-two-year-old Jamie Tartt sprained his ankle and plopped himself down on your doctor’s bench. He looked at you, you assisted him, and you were wrapped up in what you were doing that you didn’t even notice he was flirting with you.
You didn’t realize until he asked you out. And the rest was history, for better or for worse.
You were surprised he went for you. You knew who Jamie was, what type of girls he liked to be seen with. They were singers and models and actresses. They weren’t you.
(Perhaps that’s one of the reasons you liked him so much. Because he chose you. You didn’t like to think about that phase of your life.)
But after six months of seeing him, he ended things out of nowhere. Right when you’d settled on the idea that despite it all, you might be in love with him. And that was that.
You hadn’t seen him since. Not until this week.
“Not gonna happen my ass,” Leah scoffs, bringing you back into the conversation at hand.
A sigh of frustration leaves your lips. “Listen, I know it’s a bad idea;” you tell her. “I know it is. But, I don’t know. There was something different about him, Leah. He was just… like not someone I recognized.”
“Maybe because his hair is fucking long and stupid now.” She brings her glass to her lips. “His highlights look horrendous.”
“I actually like his hair like this,” you admit, earning yet another eye roll. “Listen. I’m not saying he’s changed. He probably hasn’t. But I…” You trail off with a shrug. “I don’t know. What if he has?”
Leah’s looking at you like you’re the dumbest person she’s ever met in her life. “Are you hearing yourself right now?” she asks incredulously. “Babe, he was a prick to you. Like, category-five, prestige-level twat. Like, worst boyfriend you’ve ever had.”
“I know,” you repeat. “And I said nothing’s going to happen. But if it does, and it goes south, I give you full permission to say I-told-you-so for the rest of my life, alright?”
Leah bites the inside of her cheek, shaking her head. “Whatever,” she says. After a moment, she glances over at you. “I’m just looking out for you, y’know. I don’t want to see you hurt again. And I definitely don’t want him to be the reason for that hurt again.”
You grab her hand. “I know,” you say once more. “And I love you for it. But if I’m gonna be stupid, I’m fully aware of when I’m gonna do it. And it’s gonna be my own fault.”
There’s a moment of silence between the two of you before Leah nods. “Okay,” she finally says. “Okay. Fine. Your fucking funeral.”
“I’ll let you give the eulogy and allow you to call me a dumb bitch for ten minutes straight.”
“Sold,” Leah says, pointing at you. That slight intrigue you previously saw in her eye returns. “Okay, now that I’ve yelled at you, you need to tell me everything.”
And so you do. You tell her how he took your coffee, how you nearly threw up the second you saw him, how you played it cool until you didn’t. How he apologized to you. Joked around with you. Apologized some more. And then he gave you his coffee.
You despise how excited you sound about it. Again, you’re trying to play it cool, but the people that know you the best can always see right through you. You’re excited about it. Excited about him.
It’s a bad idea to be excited about him.
It’s a bad idea to look down at your phone after you and Leah order another drink. Your heart stops when you see he’s texted you.
It’s a bad idea to open the message when Leah excuses herself to go to the bathroom. What are you up to tonight?
It’s past midnight on a Saturday and he’s texting you. It’s still preseason for him, so he might be drunk, he may not be. You’re three drinks deep and aren’t sure if you are.
It’s a bad idea to respond to him. getting drinks with a friend. You keep it dry.
It’s a bad idea to not look down at your phone until you finish the drinks you ordered. Because now, you’re definitely drunk and looking at it all with new eyes.
Would you want to hang out tonight? No pressure.
It’s a bad idea to consider it.
But it’s a worse idea to agree.
text me your new address. i can be there by 1:30.

Before you know what you’re doing, you’re knocking on Jamie’s door, intertwining your fingers together when you realize you’re shaking.
The second you do it, you regret it. You’re no longer feeling the effects of your drinks. It wore off on the Uber ride over here. And everything seems like a terrible idea now.
God, what were you doing? He treated you like that and the second you see him again, you go running back? He was an asshole. He’d made you question everything about yourself, he’d made you cry, he’d made you experience every fucking emotion in the book and all it took is one text for you to be back on his doorstep?
Your roommate was right. This was a horrendous idea and you were an idiot.
However, none of that matters. It doesn’t matter because Jamie Tartt’s opening his door and he’s got a stupid fucking smile on his face. And the second you see it, you know there’s no turning back.
“Hey,” he says as he opens the door. “You alright, love?”
You clench your jaw at the name, at his smile, about how casual he’s being, about everything. “Hey,” you say, avoiding his eyes to look around his flat.
It’s a complete 180 from what he had when he first joined Richmond and what he had when you knew him. It’s a bit less mojo-dojo-casa-house-looking and something more mature. While you can still tell that a twenty-something guy definitely lives here, it’s decorated well, it’s put together, and it’s clean. No beer bottle sculptures in sight. He’s even got a fucking candle burning on his counter. Who the fuck is this and what did he do with the guy you knew?
Jamie follows you as you enter, wiping his hands on his sweatpants. “You find the place okay?”
His question snaps you out of your flat-induced haze. “Yeah,” you reply. You clear your throat. “This is nice.”
That same, stupid smile returns, but it looks a bit nervous. “Yeah. I told you it was a bit different, huh?” he chuckles. He walks toward his island, rounding it as he speaks. “Needed a fresh start or whatever. The old one was gettin’... old.” He watches you as you nod, continuing to look around. “You still in the same place with the same people?”
“Uh, no. Different place. No people,” you answer. You’ve stayed on your side of the counter, actively keeping your distance. “Willa moved to New York last year and Leah moved with her boyfriend. We live in the same building, though, which is nice.”
The small talk is fucking killing you. You’re not even sure if he cared to remember your previous roommates' names, so this all could be pointless. You can’t believe you’re here. You can’t believe you’re actually standing here, talking to him about the past.
But as you finish speaking, he nods like he’s listening. Maybe he is listening. Maybe he does remember.
“I’ll have to see that sometime,” he ends up saying, and the implication of it makes your head spin. He wants to see you again. Or he just learned small talk common courtesy. Whatever it is, it’s driving you insane. You have so many questions for him, so many things to say, and as he wipes his hands on his pants again and nods over to his kitchen, he asks, “Can I get you something to drink? I’ve got—”
“Why did you invite me here, Jamie?” The question comes spilling out of you, rushed as if it were waiting on the tip of your tongue and simply couldn’t stand to stay in any longer. Jamie stops in his tracks to blink at you. The look on his face encourages you to go on. “I mean, I know I texted you first. But why… why did you text me tonight? Why’d you—” You grimace, trying to find the right words. “Why’d you give me your number?”
He’s silent for a moment. Thinking. Evaluating. But his eyes haven’t left you. “Because I wanted you here,” he finally says. You cross your arms over your chest as he takes a step toward you. “Because I haven’t stopped thinking about you since I saw you.”
You want to say that you’ve been driven crazy all week because you feel same, but decide against it. Instead, you look away from him and scoff. “Right.”
“I’m serious,” he tells you, and your heart stops with every step he takes. “I felt like I was goin’ insane. I didn’t…” For a flash of a second, he looks shy. “I didn’t think I’d see you again. And I didn’t think you’d actually text me. I mean, I hoped you would, but…”
He’s right in front of you, but you still refuse to look at him. Your gaze has shifted to the floor. “I shouldn’t have,” you mutter.
The asshole has the nerve to chuckle, but it’s nervous. Your stomach churns. You’re not sure if you’ve ever heard him nervous. “No, you probably shouldn’t have,” he agrees. “I don’t deserve it.” He pauses and your throat starts to tighten. “I didn’t deserve you.”
That makes you look at him. Either he’s actually apologetic about everything, or he’s gotten really good at knowing everything you want to hear. “No. You didn’t.”
His fingers tentatively brush your arm and you allow him to take your hand. “I know,” he says. “I was a fucking prick. I get that now. I should never have… done that shit to ya.” You’re close enough to him now that if you moved an inch, his forehead would be up against yours. He brings your hand up to his mouth, pressing a feather-light kiss to the back of it. The action makes your throat tighten. “And I can’t fix it. But I…” He trails off again and looks you dead in the eye once he has the words. “I want to make it up to you.”
Your resolve is getting weaker and you hate yourself for it. You lean back against the counter, like that will put space between you two. “Jamie…”
“Please,” he whispers. His forehead finally meets yours. You can feel his breath on your lips. You don’t pull away. “Let me make it up to you.”
The last front you have standing weakly presents itself. “If you think,” you begin, breath shuddering as his hand meets your neck, “that one 2 AM hookup is going to make up for what you did, I—”
“I know it won’t,” he says, and it sounds like he does know. “But I want it to be a start.” The fingers on your neck are now tracing your jaw. And they tighten when he says, “Let me show you just how sorry I am, yeah? Let me make it fucking good for you.”
Jesus fucking Christ. That last front dissolves the second he says that, and your logic flips on itself. You came over here for a reason. You knew what this was. At least you got an overdue apology. Whether or not he meant it, is still up in the air, but if he’s promising things like that, then you might as well get something out of it.
You struggle to get a word out, so you nod against his hand. “O-Okay,” you finally stammer out. The way he’s looking at you gives you enough confidence to say, “Fine. Make it up to me.”
Jamie’s lips curl into a smirk and say, “As you wish,” before they’re on yours.
He’s softer than you remember. His lips aren’t chapped, he isn’t as aggressive with it, and he isn’t as rushed. Everything about him feels more mature and you struggle to understand how fast he could have changed in four years. But you’re not complaining. Not when he’s kissing you like this, with more practice and passion than you can ever recall.
His hand unlocks from yours to slide it up your sweatshirt, and it’s surprisingly warm against your back. Still, you shiver from the contact and you can feel him smirk once more against your lips.
The action alone prompts you to fork a hand in his hair and tug at it slightly, reveling in the soft sound that escapes him. Everything about him comes back to you at once, and you’ve never been happier to know that the same things still get him. If he wants to play it like that, you can keep up.
His hands drop to grab your thighs and lift you onto the counter, breaking the kiss momentarily. Your chest is heaving up and down, lips swollen and wet. Jamie appears to be in the same boat. “Fuck,” he whispers, sounding even more out of breath than you. He dips his head to press a kiss to your neck, nose rubbing against it as he makes his way down. “You look fucking gorgeous, by the way. Meant to tell you that at the shop.”
You’re too caught up in it all to play it cool, especially as he works at that one spot on your neck. “You look— fuck, you look good too. The long hair suits you.”
You feel him grin against your neck. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” you agree breathily. “Looked like a prick with the old cut.”
You feel his teeth dig into your skin at that one, and you hiss. “You liked that prick,” he reminds you.
You were in love with that prick, but you ignore that thought. “I liked a lot of things about him,” you respond. While it’s honest, the accidental double meaning of it isn’t lost on you.
It’s certainly not lost on Jamie. “Yeah?” he asks again. He lifts his head to look at you, hand creeping up your leg. “What’d you like?” You grip his arm as it rises beneath your sweatshirt once more. “C’mon love. Tell me what you want.”
You hate the way your breath hitches the second his fingers meet your back. You know what you want. You want to see what he’s learned since you last had him. What he’s like four years later. What’s changed, what’s stayed the same. But you’re too embarrassed and much too proud to ask.
Instead, you decide to say, much too shyly for your liking, “You know what I want.”
He hums in agreement, other hand creeping dangerously close to the inside of your thigh. “I do, don’t I?” he murmurs. “Bet I know everything ya want. But I wanna hear you say it.”
“Oh my, God,” you say under your breath, frustration creeping into your voice. The asshole fucking laughs at you. “I want you to make good on your promise. This seems far from it.”
“Right, right, I’m sorry,” he tells you. He doesn’t sound sorry at all. “Just making sure we’re still, y’know. On the same page.” He glances at you. “Right?”
You blink at him. You’re not sure you could have been clearer about what page you’re on. But that’s not what surprises you. What surprises you is the seriousness in his eyes. How he’s searching for assurance in yours. And you know that if, for whatever godly reason, you wanted to stop, he’d pull away immediately, despite how worked up he clearly is.
It's the bare fucking minimum, but it's more than you’re used to getting.
So, you nod. “Yeah,” you say. “Definitely on the same page.”
The grin he breaks out to is nothing short of breathtaking. “Good.”
“But—” you suddenly say, stopping him from leaning in once more. He freezes beneath your touch, brows furrowing. “This is… This is a one-time thing. You’re…” You trail off to find the word. “You’re apologizing to me. That’s all this is.”
His smile falters, dropping momentarily before returning with a bit less radiance. It’s his turn to nod. “Okay,” he says, fingers now toying with the edge of your sweatshirt. “Gotta make it count, then.”
And with that, Jamie presses his lips back to yours, grabbing you securely and pulling you off the counter. Your legs wrap around his waist, grabbing the sides of his face, like that’ll stable you against him.
This time, it’s more desperate. It’s more tongues and teeth, more force and intention behind each movement. He’s setting the pace, but you’re keeping up tenfold. While it’d been four years, you’re not sure if he’d ever kissed you like this. He’s passionate instead of aggressive. While he knows what he wants, he’s definitely not just going to take it. He may be leading but he’s listening to you. And that stirs something inside you that you haven’t felt in a long time.
That much is clear, because you unconsciously let out a quiet sound against his lips. You can feel him smiling once more as he walks you slowly to wherever the hell his bedroom is. You’re caught up in him. And by the way he’s gripping you, you can tell he’s just as caught up in you.
So much so, that he completely loses track of where he’s going and accidentally slams you into his doorframe. You yelp, more because of shock than pain, and pull away to glare at him.
Jamie’s already apologizing. “Sorry, sorry,” he says. “Still gettin’ used to this place.”
“Well, figure out how to navigate better,” you respond, verging on a pout as you rub the back of your head.
“I’m sorry!” he repeats. He’s still got you against the doorframe. “It’s hard to see with your big head in me face. And I can’t kiss ya with, like, my eyes open. It’d be freaky.”
“I’ll give you a pass for that one,” you reply dryly. “Be weird instead of giving me a concussion.”
He’s walking you toward the bed when he mutters, “I’ll give you something, alright.”
Your back meets the mattress and you try to ignore the way he held his hand behind your head when he laid you down. You have under a second to adjust before he’s on top of you. The desperation returns and it almost takes your breath away.
He’s essentially straddling you, tugging at the waist of your leggings before he leaves one last kiss on your lips. He finally gets to pull your sweatshirt off, something he’d clearly been dying to rid you of since he first kissed you. You lift your arms up to help him, finding that you quickly start to do the same to him. You hear him chuckle as you attempt to get it up his back.
“I got it, love, hold on,” he says softly, tossing your hoodie to the side to take off his own. Your eyes immediately go to his chest and stomach and you refrain from reaching out to touch him. When you look up at him, you expect him to be smirking. However, he’s doing the exact opposite.
Jamie’s looking down at you like he can’t fucking believe you’re real. It’s jarring, seeing him like this, but you figure he’s in the same headspace as you and is still struggling to process that this is happening. It doesn’t matter, because before you can question it, he’s moving to press a kiss to your collarbone.
Your hand falls into his hair as he works his way down, mouthing the area of your chest. He pauses before he gets to the bra you’re wearing. His eyes flick up to yours. “Can I—”
You’re nodding before he can even get the words out, shifting to make it easier for him. He discards it to the floor with the rest. When he looks back at you, he releases a shaky breath and just stares.
He stares so intently that you begin to get self-conscious. “What?” you ask.
The question takes Jamie out of his trance. He shakes his head. “Nothing,” he says. “I just— I… Fuck. I forgot how beautiful you were.”
That spreads a warmth through you, one that pulls at your core. As you feel your face heat, you realize you have nothing to say to that. Luckily, he’s already moving on.
Jamie’s different. Really different. And you don’t realize how different he is until you start looking at him like you are right now. You were trying to convince yourself when you told Leah that he’d changed, you’ll admit that. But right now, you think you may have been telling the truth.
He grabs the waist of your leggings once more, lifting your legs to pull them off. You can’t help the laugh that leaves your lips as he struggles to do so. He shakes his head with a soft smile. “Missed that.”
“What?” you ask again.
“Your laugh,” he replies. “Missed that more than you know.”
The sweet words hit you like a bullet. The vulnerability in his voice is what gets you. Goddammit, when did he get so fucking nice? It drives you insane. But it also makes you quietly admit, “I think I’ve got an idea.”
With your leggings now gone, Jamie’s smile turns fonder. Gentler. He presses a kiss to your leg but says nothing in response. He simply places your legs down, eyes flicking down. He lifts his hand to trace down your stomach, stopping at the edge of your panties. The feeling makes you flinch.
He hooks a finger in the band, and your hips buck up to encourage him. His other hand spreads across your hip in a poor effort to keep you still. “Easy,” he murmurs.
You huff out a breath. “You can—” Your breath hitches as two of his fingers push into your underwear. “Fuck, you can take them off.”
His lips quirk up. “Well, thank you for the permission,” he says. “But not yet. I wanna take it slow with ya.”
Your mouth parts. “Why?”
“Because it’s been years since I’ve seen you,” he answers, moving up to kiss you softly. He speaks against your lips as he says, “And I’ve apparently only got one shot to do this right. So I’m gonna make this last.”
You roll your eyes at his terribly disguised jab. “You’re a dick,” you mutter against him.
“And you’re—” He cuts himself off and a gasp escapes your lips as he cups your core and rubs his palm against it. “Fuck, love. You’re really fucking wet.” He’s positioned on you so that you can feel him getting harder against you thigh. “This all for me, yeah?”
His voice is cocky, while still sounding awestruck. The remaining dignity you have left makes you roll your eyes, albeit a bit embarrassed. “It’s for whoever doesn’t take their fucking time to give me what I want,” you bite.
Jamie draws back from you with a full smirk on his face. “That so?” he asks. The hand against you starts creeping up to the band of your panties. “And what is it that you want? You still haven’t told me.”
You scoff. “I told you.”
He pulls your underwear down your legs and the air around you suddenly makes you realize just how exposed you are. You told yourself you’d never give him the satisfaction of seeing you like this again. But here you were.
His fingers brush against the inside of your thigh, and you shiver once more. “No,” he tells you gently. “You didn’t. You just said you wanted me to keep my promise. You didn’t tell me what you wanted.”
He’s moving closer and closer to the place you want him and you don’t know if you can take it anymore. You shift uncomfortably, as if that will cease the ache. But you know only one thing will.
So, you give him the answer he’s been waiting for this entire time. “You.” His gaze meets yours. “I want you, Jamie. Please.”
That breathtaking grin returns. “Just because you asked so nicely.”
And then he puts his mouth on you without warning.
You spasm at the contact, crying out as he uses both arms to hold you still. The second you calm down, one hand leaves your thigh and you feel him work two fingers into you. Fuck. He didn’t know that before.
And it’s not like he was ever bad in bed when you two were together. You’re not sure you would have stayed with him if that were the case. It’s just… he’s better now. He’s hitting everything nearly perfectly, not stumbling like he used to. He’s more confident. More assured. He knows what he’s doing.
And it’s fucking hot.
The sounds that fill his room are downright obscene. He’s gripping one side of you to keep you in place, splitting you open on his knuckles with the other. His mouth zeroes in on your clit, alternating between licking and sucking in a way that honestly has you close already.
“F-fuck,” you breathe. “Fuck, Jamie. Don’t st— shit. Don’t stop. Please.”
Of course, the fucking shit he is, stops. He grins up at you, but continues to slowly pump his fingers in and out. “You sound so fucking pretty begging like that,” he tells you. He’s just as out of breath as you are. He feels you clench around his fingers at the praise and it only eggs him on further. “Look so pretty too. Fucking gorgeous.”
“Jamie,” you whine again. He’s going too slow. Teasing. It’s not fucking fair. He’s supposed to be the one apologizing to you. “I need— Ngh. I need—”
“What do you need?” he asks. “Tell me.”
You think you’d kill him if you weren’t completely incapacitated. “More,” you manage to get out, wincing as he continues at his slow pace. You’re close. Embarrassingly close. “Just fucking more. Please. I’m—” You interrupt yourself with a moan as he shoves his fingers deeper into you.
“I know,” he nearly coos. “I’ve got you.”
And got you he does. Because not only does he pick up the pace, he stretches you with a third finger. The sting of it is momentary, and it subsides as soon as he bends down and swipes your clit with his tongue.
Your back arches. “Jesus fucking— Jamie. Oh, my God.”
He’s good. Of course, he’s fucking good. He’s Jamie Tartt. You’re not sure he’s ever been bad at anything physical in his life. Emotionally was another story. But that story didn’t matter right now. Not when he’s got you like this, and you’re teetering over the edge.
He pulls away from you, breath tickling your core as he speaks. “C’mon,” he chides. “I can feel it. You’re right there, aren’t you, love?” He takes your breathy silence as confirmation and nods to himself. “Yeah. You just need—”
He removes one finger and crooks the rest a certain way, deeper than before. Your heart may stop beating. He’s done something he did to you time and time again, something that he was actually really fucking good at, something he knew you liked years ago. When he looks up at you, he searches your eyes. And by the way they roll back, he knows he’s struck gold.
The smirk returns and he continues to work his fingers into you, smirk growing each time he hears you say his name. “Yeah,” he whispers. “That’s it. That’s still it.”
You could finish at any moment. The telltale heat is rising in your stomach, and you’re just waiting for the cord to snap. And then, as if your muscle memory takes over, you reach out for his arm.
But instead of letting you do it like before, he does something completely different. He intertwines his free hand with the back of yours and guides it to your stomach. And then he presses on your hand.
The pressure builds. You’re barely able to make any noise. And then—
“C’mon,” Jamie repeats. “Come for me, angel. I wanna see it.”
The cord snaps, and you do as you’re told. You come. Hard.
Jamie talks you through it, fingers still moving to coax your climax out of you. You’re sure you look pathetic, crying out and thrashing around in his bed, but you don’t care. You can barely fucking see right now.
It’s been a while for you. Or at least been a while since you’ve had anything that good. And it completely strips away any sort of attitude or frustration you had before.
When you finally come back down, you laugh softly, shaking your head and throwing your arm over your face. “Fuck,” you say through a chuckle.
You feel him shift, moving up the bed to hover over you once more. When he removes your arm from your eyes, you see that he’s smiling. “Nobody’s ever laughed after I’ve done that,” he tells you, a faux pout pulling at his lips. He bends down to press them to yours and you can taste yourself. “It better be a good fuckin’ sign.”
You laugh again, reaching up to cup his cheek and pull him into another kiss. “Very good sign,” you assure him. It’s muffled against him, but you think he gets the point.
It’s then that you catch him by surprise and flip the two of you over, straddling him in a way that makes him release a breathy sound that you’d missed dearly. But, something feels off.
Your glance down at him, expecting to feel or see fabric once you reach his leg. But there’s not much. Only what feels like boxer shorts. It catches you off guard. When did he take off his—
It doesn’t matter. It’s easier for you now. Especially as your fingers move across his abdomen, biting back a grin at the way he shudders. He looks up at you from his pillow.
“What are you doing?” he asks leadingly.
You shrug innocently, fingers toying with the band hanging low on his hips. “Returning the favor,” you reply.
Jamie makes a noise of disapproval, placing a hand on your thigh like that’ll stop you. “I’m supposed to be the one making it up to you,” he states, but his voice gets less firm as you cup him through the fabric. “Fuck. Y-You don’t owe me anythin’. No favors.”
You shake your head, pulling at his boxers so that he springs free from inside. Your eyes travel back to his as you reach out and gently grab his cock, staring down at him with a smirk dancing on your lips. “You sure?”
He looks pained. You don’t know why. You’re offering a way to take him out of his misery. But still, he shakes his head and moves his arm from your leg to your back.
He takes his turn to flip you over next. He swears under his breath as he does so, shaking his head when you land on your back.
“I told you,” he says, taking his boxers all the way off now. “It’s about you. Not me.” He shakes his head again, but this time it’s a bit more frustrated. When he speaks, it’s mostly to himself. “Can’t believe I just fuckin’ said no to that.”
A snort escapes you. “You’re a changed man, Jamie Tartt,” you joke.
He shrugs before placing his arms on either side of you. His voice teeters on teasing and earnest. “I’ve been trying to tell ya that.”
You’re not sure if it’s him, or the situation, or the sex, but you think you believe him. It makes your chest heavy. But you can’t admit that. You won’t let yourself. So, you keep that feeling tucked away, way in the back of your mind for safekeeping. You know it’s better like that. For your emotional sake, at least.
You allow yourself to prop yourself up on your elbow and kiss him instead of responding to that, bringing him in closer. You can feel the length of him press against your stomach, and his groan vibrates against your lips.
He pulls away, grinding into you. The heat of your body is making him go wild. “Can I—”
You know what he wants. And you want it too. “Please,” you say.
He nods, moving to angle himself against you. You glance down to watch him, heat flooding your face as he strokes himself before glancing up at you. You nod in return, giving him the confirmation he needs. Jamie grins.
He slides in you slowly. The stretch is mild but grows as he hovers over you once more. It’s easy to adjust, having been warmed up moments before. But for Jamie, it’s not as easy.
He bottoms out almost immediately, tensing over you. His head bows, chin falling to his chest. “Fuck,” he curses. It’s quiet but straight-up sinful. “God, fucking— you’re so—” You grip onto his bicep as he steadies himself. “I’m sorry. It’s just— i-it’s been a minute. And you’re f-fucking tight. Jesus.”
You don’t mind. He feels good like this, despite the fact he’s not moving. Your hand travels from his arm to his hair, tucking a piece of it behind his ear before settling on his jaw. “It’s alright,” you tell him. “We’ve got time.”
Jamie’s eyes snap open at that, but he’s not looking at you like you thought he would. You were expecting a cheeky sort of smile, a smirk, something in that realm. But he’s not. He’s looking at you like…
It’s something you can’t define. Something you’ve never seen before. It churns your stomach yet makes your heart race. Neither of you says a word.
He just dips down to kiss you again and slowly begins to move inside you. Your lips part in a gasp, and he slides his tongue in your mouth. Your back arches into him.
Before you know it, he's breaking from you and is breathing heavy against your neck. “Shit,” he groans. “You’re just— fuck. You…” He trails off, mouth hovering over your collarbone. “You drive me f-fucking mad. God, everything about you. Y-you don’t even know, do you?”
The pace picks up. He’s thrusting into you harder now and your nails dig into his back. You hear him hiss at the contact, but neither of you seem to care. “Fuck.” It’s all you can say. “Fuck, Jamie.”
He’s clearly not done talking. “How’d I-I fuck this up? Huh?” You can’t tell if he’s talking to you or himself. His mouth is on your chest now and the feeling runs through you like fire. “Fucking idiot. Didn’t know what I had. Can’t believe I let you go.”
You clench around him and it throws him off kilter. You watch his jaw clench, hand beside you gripping the pillow you’re on. “You w-were an idiot.” Your agreement is much less effective when it’s closed out by a high-pitched moan.
“I know. Fuck, I know,” he says. “I’m sorry. Deserved better.” He continues to slam into you. “I wanna gi—” A strangled sound erupts from his lips. “Give you better. You’re so—” When he shakes his head, he looks wrecked. “I can’t believe you’re here.”
Something about that sends a shock to your system. It makes you cry out and you can feel it. Your legs tremble around him. You’re close again. You’re really fucking close.
He kisses you once more, deeper than before. It’s more frantic. Everything about him is more erratic. You can tell he’s getting there too. “Couldn’t stop,” he manages to get out, hot against your lips. “Couldn’t s-stop thinking about you. I missed you.”
You clench around him again, the admission inching you closer. “Shit,” you say. “Fuck, Jamie, keep going.”
And keep going he does. His hand moves down your stomach, fingers finding your clit. He rubs circles into it and that sends you into a fucking tailspin. He swallows the sound you make.
“Missed you,” he says again, but it’s more helpless. Jamie fucking whimpers. “God, I f-fucking missed you, angel. Missed you so fucking much, I—”
You don’t hear the rest of what he says because you come the second he makes that sound. It’s white-hot. Blinding. Your legs twitch around him and you claw at him as he continues to rub your clit. You’re loud, but you don’t give a shit. It seems to spur him on.
He’s not far behind you. He spills into you with a groan, stomach flexing as he heaves over you, twitching inside of you. You’re still recovering from your own high as you open your eyes to watch him. You catch his expression for a moment before he’s collapsing into you.
You release a soft ‘oof’ at the sudden weight of him. He doesn’t say anything for a moment and neither do you. You just breathe together. But after a moment you allow yourself to put a hand in his hair.
“You’re fucking heavy,” you tell him, but there’s not much bite in it.
You feel him chuckle. “Give me second,” he says. “Not as fuckin’ agile as I used to be. Took a lot out of me, alright?”
You roll your eyes but continue to run your fingers through his hair. “You’re twenty-six and like, the face of the AFC,” you tell him. “Richmond might have to shorten your contract if you’re dying after that.”
He presses a kiss to your shoulder. “Take that up with me Chairwoman then.”
You can’t help but laugh as you push him off of you, wincing as you feel him slip out. He lands with the same noise you did. “If she heard you complaining like that, she’d be on my side.”
Jamie grins at you, joining in on your laughter. He shifts toward you, grabbing your hand to play with your fingers. “You’re probably right. Shouldn’t be complainin’,” he says. He lifts your hand to his lips. “Not when you’re here.”
They’re sweet words. The casualty of them makes your heart swell. But that anxiety about him returns. One time thing, you tell yourself. Apology. One time. That’s all.
You pull your hand back softly and he glances over at you. There’s a hint of worry in his eyes, like that one movement set off alarm bells in his head. You give him an uneasy smile.
Before you can move to get up or say anything or do something, he’s talking. And you have to refrain from wincing.
“I know…” He looks away from you. Shy. “I know you said one time,” he says, as if he can read your fucking mind. “And that’s… That’s okay. I get that, yeah? But I—” Jamie wipes a hand down his face, staring at the ceiling. “I meant what I said. I missed ya. Really.”
You missed him too. But your walls have been rising back up since he started talking again. “I don’t know what you want me to do with that,” you tell him, only partially lying.
You feel like an asshole when he winces. Maybe you were being an asshole. Maybe it was finally your turn to do so.
“Just…” He finally looks at you. “If you ever… don’t want this to be just a one-time thing.” He waves it off in an attempt to look casual. You know he’s anything but. “You’ve got my number. Or whatever.”
The timidness in his voice makes your resolve soften. Even if you don’t see him again, you suppose you can let him down easy. He’s been kind enough tonight to deserve that. You nod at him as you sit up. “Okay,” you say. “I’ll let you know.”
It’s only slightly awkward as you get out of his bed and search for your clothes. He asks if he can call you an Uber home and you reject it, letting him know that you’ve got one on the way.
You can feel his eyes on you as you dress, ignoring the way they burn into you. You can tell he’s searching for something to say, or something to talk to you about but doesn’t know what.
You’re half-dressed before he can shoot himself in the foot and say something stupid. “Hey,” he finally says. You glance over your shoulder at him after you slip your sweatshirt on. “I’m really glad you texted me.”
The nice streak you’re riding on continues and you offer a small but genuine smile in return. “Me too,” you admit, ignoring the way that his own soft smile pulls at your heartstrings.
Before you leave his room, you offer one more admission. You stop in the doorframe he hit you against, lips curling further upward. “It was really good to see you, Jamie.”
He props himself up on his elbow, smile growing. “Good,” he says, nodding. Then, like a prick, he winks at you. “Glad we’re on the same page.”
You physically cannot stop yourself from rolling your eyes and you hear him laugh to himself as you walkdown his hall. “Goodbye, asshole.”
He shouts a tired-sounding ‘bye!’ when you slip your shoes on, shaking your head as you look around his apartment once more. The candle on his counter is still burning, smelling of amber moss and palo santo.
You blow it out before you leave, knowing he’ll forget.
And as you do so, you feel yourself regress. Or grow. You’re not quite sure which one.
But it makes you curse under your breath and leave his flat immediately.

There is one more universal truth you forgot to mention.
And that’s that the second you think you’re over Jamie Tartt, he comes back into your life and flips everything on its head. And it’s the only truth that’s been confirmed to you all week.
Because the second you arrive home and see that you have a text waiting for you, your heart picks up. You hate the way you get excited to see it.
I had a really good time tonight.
And the second he comes back into your life, you’re reminded that you’re not over him. Not even in the slightest. And it’s fucking debilitating.
me too.
And you know your friends are going to kill you the second you follow up with:
i’m free friday if you want to grab a drink.

warnings: slight angst and a cliffhanger
authors note: there will be a part two! i promise this has a happy ending i love these two too much. also this is mostly unedited because i really want to post it like right now
CROSS-POSTED TO AO3
As soon as you apparated to your new shop, you knew you should have taken your friends up on their offers to help you move in. The bricks were uneven, the stairs were steep, and you had what felt like a million boxes to move into the shop and the flat above it. Magic would speed up the process, but you could only lift so many at a time.
You’d dropped your third box when you tripped on the stairs and nearly broke your arm. Rubbing your arm and cursing yourself for your stupidity, you weren’t paying attention as you walked outside to retrieve more boxes.
“Wingardium Leviosa!” you cast, anger coloring your tone. Two boxes shot up into the air, and before you could stop them, they hit the man walking past right in the face.
You clapped your hand to your face and lowered your wand, immediately causing the heavy boxes to fall right on top of him.
“Shit!” you cursed as you ran over and squatted next to him. “I’m so sorry! Are you alright?”
You cursed yourself. Of course he’s not alright. You just hit him in the face with a heavy box. Twice.
“Christ,” he said, rubbing his forehead. “You really know how to make an impression.”
Heat flooded your cheeks. Of course, he was attractive too. Fiery red hair, a strong jawline, and freckles all around his face. It looked like he was tall too. You couldn’t really tell since he was mostly on the ground, but he looked strong.
“I am so sorry,” you repeated. “I have some bruising salves and if anything hurts more I can probably fix it, I mean I am a healer-” you cut yourself off. “Are you okay?”
“I’m alright, I think it's just my pride that’s bruised,” he said, smirking as he moved into a seated position. You cringed as you saw the blue and purple mark that was already developing on his forehead.
“Are you sure you don’t want anything to fix that bruise? It looks pretty nasty.”
“Just your pretty face should be fine.”
You felt like your face was on fire as you grabbed the salve. Still, he was cute…
“I don’t know,” you teased as you began applying the ointment to his face. “Delusions like that might indicate some sort of brain damage.”
His smile widened. “Does that mean you’re a hallucination? Because that would be cruel.”
You rolled your eyes as you finished. “Seriously though, I am so sorry,”
“Seriously though, it’s fine,” he mocked with a deadpan expression. “I’m Fred, by the way. My brother and I run that shop over there.”
Fred stood as he pointed to the massive orange shop labeled Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.
“Really, I couldn’t tell from the massive statue of your face on the front.”
He smirked. “Can’t miss it,” he paused for a second. “And you never told me your name.”
You introduced yourself, and Fred smiled. “Pretty name.”
“Uh…thanks,” you stuttered. It felt like the flush on your face would never go away.
It was silent for a moment before Fred asked, “Do you need any help bringing those boxes up?”
You immediately shook your head. “No, no I’ve got it. It’s not that big of a deal.”
“Are you sure?” he smirked. “It seemed like you were struggling a little bit before.”
You glared at him. “I was perfectly fine until you got in the way.”
“Got in the way!” He gasped in mock-anger. “I was simply walking the pavement when someone hit me with like ten flying boxes!”
“It was not ten, you liar,” you couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across your face as you continued to banter with him. It was just so fun.
“Wow,” he tutted. “Barely known me five minutes and you’re already calling me a liar.”
“I’ve always been a good judge of character.”
Unbeknownst to you, Fred had already taken his wand out of his pocket and was beginning to edge toward the boxes. He waved his wand, and two boxes rose into the air as if they were feathers.
Of course, he has to be good at magic too.
“No. You are gonna go home and make sure that you don’t get hit by any more stray boxes,” you demanded, trying to sound as authoritative as possible.
Fred’s smile grew as he lowered the boxes (much more gracefully than you ever have) and placed his hands up in surrender. “How about we make a deal?”
You cocked your head. “What kind of deal?”
He clasped his hands and stepped closer to you. “How about I help you with these boxes-”
“No.”
“Let me finish, I swear did no one teach you that patience is a virtue?” There’s a smiling lilt to his voice that makes you want to melt into a puddle.
“Fortune favors the bold.”
“Anyway,” he continues, smiling still as he rolls his eyes. “I’ll help you with these boxes, and in return, you’ll come and visit me in my shop tomorrow.”
You paused, pretending to think for a moment. Of course, you were going to do it. More time with cute ginger shop boy who was definitely taller than you and looked like he had some very strong arms? How could you say no?
“I suppose I could fit it into my schedule,” you said, daring to elbow him in the side as you both walked toward the boxes.
The rest of the afternoon was filled with more laughs than you thought possible. Fred was so funny, you supposed it made sense that he ran a joke shop. It felt like both of you were laughing every single second.
And the best part was when you found out how strong his arms really were.
Fred had just been telling you about one of his Hogwarts escapades when he and his brother used an age potion to try and enter the Triwizard Tournament.
“So you really grew long white beards?” you couldn’t stop giggling as you followed Fred down the stairs.
Fred threw a smile your way as he reached the bottom of the steps. “Yup. We nearly started fighting each other too. Would have if not for- woah!”
In your incessant laughter, you hadn’t been paying much attention to your very steep stairs and found yourself falling…
…straight into Fred’s very strong arms.
It was silent for a second as you stared into each other’s eyes. His arms held you tightly as if you weighed nothing at all. You could feel heat creeping up your neck.
Fred paused, looking like he was thinking hard about something.
“You know, I guess you could say that you fell for me,” he said, his eyes twinkling.
You smacked his (heavily muscled) arm. “That was disgusting.”
“Sorry darling, I couldn’t resist.”
Was it possible to die from joy and embarrassment at the same time? It had to be.
You told him more about your shop as you floated the last few boxes upstairs. You were opening an apothecary with potions, ointments, and other helpful tools for healing so that people didn’t have to go to St. Mungos every time they had a problem. You were also thinking about offering small healing services once you had more staff.
“Thats so cool!” Fred grinned. “I think we’ll probably end up with some similar customers.”
You snorted. “Yeah, I’ll get all the victims of your schemes.”
“I just sell the stuff,” he objected. “What my customers do is their own business.”
You gave him an unimpressed look. “Sure Fred. You tell yourself that.”
He gave you an innocent smile as both of you looked outside to realize that you had just brought the last boxes in. You stood there awkwardly for a moment.
“Well, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?” you said. “I did make a promise to see your shop.”
“That you did,” Fred replied. “I better see you. I didn’t carry all these boxes for nothing.”
“That excited to see me, huh?”
“Yes, actually,” his smile was genuine. “I can’t wait to see your reaction to all my ‘schemes’ as you call them.”
Heat spread through your cheeks. “I’m excited to see you too.”
*
The next day was torture. Showing up at Fred’s shop at eight in the morning would have been the definition of creepy, so you forced yourself to set up your shop and unpack most of your boxes.
You were quite proud of the work you had done for the last few hours. Twinkling lights were strewn around your shop, and magical plants wrapped around the shelves. All in all, the glass potion bottles and herbs would fit right in.
You finally allowed yourself to head upstairs and choose an outfit. It took far longer than it should have, considering that Fred saw you yesterday in what was quite possibly the ugliest outfit you owned.
Then you messed with your hair and your makeup. You knew it was kind of stupid, considering how flirty he had been yesterday, but you wanted to feel confident. And looking good was probably the only way you were going to get there.
Finally, after spending far too long on your appearance, you stepped out the door of your shop. Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes was the brightest thing on the street, and your eye was immediately drawn to the massive statue of Fred at the front, the orange coloring, and the smiles and laughter that surrounded the building. Even just looking at it made you want to smile.
As you walked briskly toward the building, you could feel your heart beginning to race. You bit your lip, trying to hide the smile that was emerging, because really, you should not have a crush this big. You'd met the man once, for Merlin’s sake.
Your smile immediately dropped when you actually got to the shop.
Because Fred was standing there, his smile wide but different than yesterday. It wasn’t filled with the same laughter and joy. He wasn’t looking at you. He was looking at someone else. He was looking at another girl. Another girl who leaned in a kissed him. And he kissed back.
And you turned on your heel and fled back to your shop.

JJ never believed in love at first sight. Why would he when it had taken years for him and his girlfriend to finally get together? He had loved her- desperately, and had felt like after years of flirting hopelessly he finally got his shot with Kie and he was head over heels. He was happy. But it wasn’t everything he had dreamed of. They fought nearly constantly these days, and her parents had never gotten over the bitter taste in their mouths they had over him even after they found El Dorado and he could give their daughter the life he assumed they wanted for her. It was draining, but he assumed it was all so worth it.
Your parents had just bought a summer home on Kildare island, and you instantly fell in love with the city. The endless beaches, the expansive golf course and with everyone you’ve met so far this summer. You already looked forward to spending every June, July, and August here for the foreseeable future, and have already considered moving into the house full time to watch it while your parents are back in New York living up the Wallstreet life for the remainder of the year. At eighteen, you’re praying they’ll give you the chance.
In an attempt to prove your independence, you’re spending the day alone, running errands for your mom and dad, visiting some local shops and taking the time to get to know everything better. That’s when JJ first lays his eyes on you.
He’s walking around the busy grocery store with a clunky basket, readjusting his grip over and over again because he’d be caught dead before grabbing a cart when he’s shopping alone. You saw no shame in that, however, resting your hip against the side of the half full cart of groceries while you glance between the list in your hands and the table of produce in front of you.
JJ’s eyes fall on your figure as he’s about to reach for a bag of apples, immediately finding himself doing a double take. The way your hair falls over part of your face as he watches you try to pick out the freshest looking watermelon has his breath hitching in his throat, and he instantly abandons his attempt at fitting the bag of apples into his already almost filled basket, deciding a watermelon looks more refreshing in the North Carolina heat anyways.
“Hey- that’s the one I was gunning for.” JJ finds himself saying, pointing to the watermelon in your hands as you turn to place it in the cart.
“Oh! Gosh, sorry. Here.” You say sheepishly, holding the fruit out to him immediately and JJ feels his heart melt.
“Nah, you can keep it. I was just joking.” JJ chuckles, placing his basket on the floor. “It does look the best though, you’ve got a sharp eye.
“Thanks.” You laugh, resigning to putting the watermelon down in your cart instead. “I think you should take that one, that one is second best.” You joke, pointing to a different one on the table.
JJ nods, pretending to consider it. “Yeah, yeah you’re probably right.” He nods, picking it up and inspecting it. “Are you new in town?” He asks, attempting to be casual about it, but he’s genuinely curious since he knows if he’d ever seen you before, he absolutely would have remembered it.
“Uh, yeah! My parents just bought a house here. Down on the other side of the island.” You explain, your cheeks flushing as you pretend to read over your list again.
“Oh, you’re a kook?” JJ replies, making you quirk an eyebrow at him.
“Excuse me?”
Now it was JJ’s turn to blush, his face immediately turning a bright red as he looked at you with wide eyes, long forgetting his ploy at examining the watermelon in his hands. “I- yeah I guess you wouldn’t know what that means. Sorry, just, people who live over there have that nickname. Just means you live on the north side, that’s all.”
Your face relaxes and you giggle. JJ has never heard a laugh so lovely, so sweet that he thinks it could make his jaw hurt if he dwelled on it for too long. “Oh! Okay, neat. I didn’t know that.” You shake your head at your own misunderstanding.
“Yeah, I guess that’s just local slang, kinda.” JJ shrugs, returning your smile and leaning back against the counter, putting the fruit down again. “I’m JJ, by the way. I’m definitely not a kook.”
“Oh, what do they call you then? Assuming you wouldn’t call me a ‘kook’ if you were one yourself.” You ask, tilting your head in his direction.
“Pogues. Pogies, sometimes.” JJ laughs as he explains it, suddenly understanding how silly it must sound to someone who didn’t grow up here.
“Interesting.” You nod a little. “Well, JJ the ‘pogue’, I’m Y/N.”
“Not exactly how you use that, but it’s nice to meet you, Y/N.” JJ grins, leaning back on his palms as they press onto the table.
“Sorry.” You laugh awkwardly again, and JJ can’t help it when his stomach flips once more at the sound. He glances down at his still present basket, remembering suddenly who gave him the list of what to buy, and who he was bringing everything home to so they could make pasta together for dinner. Shit.
“You’re all good.” He laughs it off with you, smile fading with the sudden pang of guilt that followed the dread of returning home to Kie. Who he loved. Loves, still, surely.
“Well, I’ve got frozen stuff here, so I better keep moving…” You trail off, looking into the cart you’ve gathered of almost everything on the list. “I probably should have grabbed those last but I wasn’t really thinking I guess.” You ramble on, stepping around the cart and past JJ to push it away.
“I did the same thing, I get it.” JJ admits, reaching down to pick up his basket.
“Hey, uh, I don’t have any friends down here. Mind if I grab your instagram or something?” You ask, suddenly feeling brave as you stop the cart and turn to face the blonde boy that you admittedly find very attractive. Besides, having friends here will definitely implore your parents to let you stay.
“Yeah! Yeah, here.” JJ nods, digging into the pocket of his cargo shorts and pulling out his phone to open the rarely used app, handing it over to you.
“Yikes, an android? I don’t know if I can be seen with you.” You joke as you take the device, quickly typing in your own username and hitting the follow button, passing it back to him as he laughs.
“Gee, thanks.” JJ chuckles, shaking his head and looking down at the account still left open.
“Maybe I’ll see you around, JJ the pogue.” You tease, giving a quick wave as you make your way towards the front of the store.
“Still not how you say that!” He calls after you, seeing you shrug your shoulders without looking back.
As you turn the corner, JJ let’s out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, once more adjusting the grip his now sweaty palms had on the handles of the basket. The basket full of groceries for Kie, that suddenly feels much harder to carry. Fuck, he doesn’t want to go home to her anymore. And fuck, he can’t wait to scroll through your instagram and endlessly hope that he’ll see you again.

Part 2 of Music Producer! Harry blurb as requested in the notes by @totodiamond :) I just did a proper one shot for it.
Warnings: Oral (f receiving), fingering, sex, mentions of death and loss, cheating.
WC: 9k
LAST WARNING... If you haven't read the BLURB first you can do so here.
The reception of Y/N’s band’s new album was expected to be pretty promising. Granted, their music wasn’t “mainstream”, but Harry had insisted that they have 2 singles on the album to get them more on the radar and well, it had worked. Their second single had a more indie-pop feel and swept the nation thanks to a TikTok posted by their label. Because of it’s popularity it really helped hype up the anticipation for their album release and it was projected to do really well. They were also projecting that the second single would be the “song of the summer”. And well, they would start to tour in August so they would be busy from August until next May.
The topic of tour seemed to be the most frequently asked question as she navigated through the room at the album’s launch party. This was their first headlining tour, they had opened on a few tours for several shows with their EP and first album, but this was the big one. Their self-titled album. Because this is how they made a name for themselves. It was a lot to take in and the more people asked the more overwhelmed Y/N felt. There were people everywhere and she was slowly starting to get anxious and she just needed a little break so she headed outside to catch some fresh air. When she got out there someone was smoking off to the side and the scent just called to her. She hadn’t smoked in years, but she was feeling nostalgic, so she went up to him and bummed a cigarette off of him before the man headed inside. She had just taken her first drag and it felt so familiar that she smiled to herself.
“Seriously?” She heard and immediately recognized the voice and turned to her right to see Harry walking over to her with a disbelieving smirk on his face. She was partially hidden behind a giant palm planter for this very reason, she didn’t want a scolding from anyone about her smoking. She knew cigarettes were gross and bad for you, but she was feeling nostalgic when the scent reached her nose and she gave in just this once.
“I know, I know…but I haven’t smoked in maybe 4 years, it’s just this once. Don’t narc me out to Richard.” She said to Harry of their manager as he stopped before her, still smirking.
“Gimme that.” He said extending his hand to her and she frowned.
“Fine. Just one more though.” She said to him and he laughed softly.
“Relax, I’m not gonna put it out. Nor will I narc you out.” He said to her lowly and she smiled at him as she passed it on over, “D’you mind?” He asked as he raised it to his mouth and she shook her head.
“Go for it.” She assured and he proceeded to put the filter between his lips and inhaled for a few seconds before letting the smoke flow out from between his slightly parted lips as he exhaled.
“Wow, I haven’t smoked in ages either.” He said to her with a smile, “It’s as awful and comforting as I remember.” He added and she chuckled.
“Yeah…” she agreed.
“I promised myself I’d never do that again…thanks.” He joked and she shrugged.
“I’m sorry for tempting you. I’ve heard that I tend to bring out the worst in people…” she apologized with a half smile on her face.
“No you don’t.” He shook his head, “You bring out the wild side in people, but it’s only because you’re so effortlessly cool and yourself. Like people want to impress you. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.” He said and she smiled.
“Is that what this was? You trying to impress me?” She teased him.
“No, I have some dignity.” He countered with a grin and she laughed loudly as he chuckled, “Nah, I saw you walk out in a bit of a rush and just wanted to make sure you were alright.” He explained, “So are you alright?”
“Yeah, it just got a little overstimulating in there. Too many lights and voices and questioned and smells…it was a lot.” She said and he hummed as he took another drag before handing the cigarette back and she immediately took a drag.
“Oh, the shitty parts of acquiring fame…”
“Yeah.” She giggled as the smoke billowed out of her mouth. He started at her lips for a few seconds as she glanced off somewhere else. Her lips were slightly swollen and looked so smooth and juicy from whatever product she had on them. He’d been dying to kiss her for months, but he didn’t want to start anything with her while they were actively involved in a professional relationship.
“Are you excited for the tour?” He asked after a few beats of silence. And she wasn’t annoyed when he asked about it, but maybe it’s because it was him.
“Yeah, we already start rehearsals next week! I think we need to re-work the setlist though…but we’ll see once we run the full show through.”
“Are you guys rehearsing here?”
“Yeah, we’ll stay in LA.” She confirmed, “What’s next for you?”
“I’m not sure. I’ve got a couple offers on the table for different gigs, just not sure what to choose.” He confessed and she hummed.
“Well which one has you most excited?” She asked and he bit his lip pensively.
“Ummm…I’ve been approached to compose for an indie film…” he said and she gasped in surprise.
“Oh? That’s so cool, Harry!”
“Yeah.” He smiled, “I haven’t really done any original compositions since…maybe grad school?” He said with a questioning expression, “So it’s not out of my skillset, but I’m definitely out of my depth and out of practice. I’m sure I’m rusty, but it’s something different than what I’ve been doing the last few years, you know? So it seems the most exciting and challenging.”
“Yeah. That’s really sick. What’s the storyline? If I can ask.” She said and he nodded.
“Yeah, ummm, it’s one of those dystopian love stories…so like the world’s gonna end in a few weeks and we’re all gonna die and it’s about like making peace with yourself and living in the moment, finding the beauty in the tragedy…that kind of thing. I really liked the script, it’s so realistic and well written. I’ve even considered going for one of the lead roles.” He said to her and she smiled.
“Oh? Acting too?”
“Yeah.” He chuckled timidly.
“Well aren’t you multitalented!” She smiled as he smiled bashfully, “Well, it sounds really cool, definitely sounds like something I’d watch. If only to hear your compositions.” She said and he smiled.
“Hey, if I say yes maybe you can sing on a track.” He suggested and she smiled.
“Yeah, I’d be down.” She assured as she flicked the ash off of her cigarette before taking another drag and exhaling, “Do you want another?”
“Yeah, last one.” He said and she chuckled as she passed it over to him. Once he took his drag he held it out to her.
“I’m good. You can kill it or…kill it.” She said and he smiled as he stepped over to the little ashtray over the garbage bin and extinguished what was left of the cigarette before stepping back over to her.
“So, should I keep myself open for your next album or has the illusion of having me produce your albums died?” He asked with a grin and Y/N laughed aloud at his question before biting down on her lip to suppress a smile.
“Ummm, I’d say keep yourself open…I think I need to give you a fair shot.”
“Oh… OK.” He smiled contently, “Good. I’ve got some really great ideas for some of the songs we cut from this album that can help kind of establish your sound for the next one.” He said.
“Geez…already? Everything moves so fast here.”
“You’re definitely not in Kansas anymore…” he smiled at her and she rolled her eyes playfully, “Don’t roll your eyes, you know you want to laugh.” He said to her and she finally did but shook her head.
“I’m not even from Kansas! I just went to school there!”
“Yeah, but the rest of your band is, and it was formed there, so whether you like it or not, you’re now from Kansas - well according to Wikipedia you are - so the joke works.” He said smugly.
“You wikipedia-ed me?”
“Well, I wiki-ed the band before I agreed to work with you guys. You’ve seriously never googled anything about me?” He asked her incredulously.
“Eh, kind of…I mean, I googled narcissistic personality disorder, to see if you met the criteria for it…” she said and he laughed loudly and she smirked, “When I realized that I was reaching, I googled your birthday and discovered you’re an Aquarius, and well…that explained a lot. Like how you’re so great at your job but also a control freak and kind of a dick.” She teased and he shook his head.
“I see how it is…” he hummed in mock offense and she reached out for his arm, her hand rested against his bicep.
“I don’t think that of you anymore, just to clarify. It was before when I was still mad at you. I’m sorry. You’re perfectly normal according to the DSM-5.” She assured giving him a small, reassuring squeeze and he grinned.
“Yeah, thank you for stating the obvious.” He chuckled as her hand started to slip away from him and he grabbed it in his, which made her look up into his eyes. Her heart rate starting speeding up as her eyes met his own before he glanced down at her hand, “This is nice.” He said to her as his thumb grazed over the sunburst ring on her middle finger. She looked down as well and felt her tummy flutter at his innocent, but very intimate gesture.
“Thank you. My sister gave it to me.” She replied, her hand still in his. He hadn’t made a move to let go and she hadn’t made a move to pull her hand away from his either, so their eyes met again as their hands came down, still connected by their middle fingers being hooked together. The tension and electricity buzzing between them was extremely obvious.
“It’s gonna be weird not seeing you guys every day.” He said to her and she smiled.
“Yeah…everyone’ll miss you, if that’s any consolation.” She said with a small smile and he smiled down at the ground and asked his question before he could talk himself out of it.
“What about you? Are you gonna miss me too?” He inquired before looking back into her eyes and she smiled bashfully.
“Gee, I don’t know…what do you think?” She asked playfully and he chuckled.
“I mean can you blame me for asking? Your messages and feelings towards me are kind of hard to read.” He said and she hummed as she bit her lip pensively and then glanced up to his eyes before placing her hands on chest and tiptoeing to graze her lips over his. Her eyes flickered up to his.
“Does this clear things up for you?” She asked with a soft smile and he smirked.
“Ummm, it’s still a little murky.” He teased.
“Oh yeah?” she responded quietly and he hummed teasingly, “Let me make it clearer then.” She whispered before pressing her lips to his. His hands immediately found their place at her waist as hers slithered up to loop around his neck. Their soft and playful kisses soon turned into languid and hungrier kisses as the seconds passed them by in their dark little hiding place.
Harry now had Y/N up against the wall with one hand around the back of her neck and the other against the wall as he sank his teeth into her bottom lip before sliding his tongue in against her own. Her beautiful, breathy moan made his ears perk up and ring. It was such a beautiful and sensual sound, he wanted to put it on a track; layer it in somewhere and commemorate it as the beautiful and artistic sound it was. Her index fingers were hooked into his trouser’s belt loops, keeping him as physically close as she could. She wanted to disappear into the night with him and see where they ended up. The tension between them had been building for months and well, they hadn’t seen each other in a few weeks after they finished production on the album, so she assumed that the tension would dissipate with time. But she was discovering that hadn’t affected her longing for him, not even a little bit.
“Do you wanna get out of here?” He asked her quietly, and admittedly with a smidge of uncertainty, as his nose skimmed down the length of hers in a delicate and playful gesture.
“Yeah.” She whispered and nodded her head in a double confirmation to him that she wanted to be alone with him.
“Alright.” He smiled against her mouth and she smiled as well before he grabbed her hand and pulled her around the building towards where he parked. He was given a spot right out back instead of having to valet, which would be a waste of precious time with her. So they hurried around to the back and they got inside and took off. He was in his classic, white Mercedes with the top down, so when they were leaving, they were inevitably papped. And as much as she tried to keep her head down to avoid being recognized as the woman in his car any comparison in outfit would easily prove that she had in fact left her own launch party with Harry, her producer.
“God, they’re everywhere!” Y/N griped as they finally got on the main street and were stopped at the traffic light.
“And there’s more.” He said to her as he cocked his head to the people who had followed them on the sidewalk up to the light and were snapping pictures of them in the car.
“Jesus.” She huffed.
“Wait, where’s your stuff?”
“Oh I didn’t bring anything with me, just myself.”
“Not even your wallet or phone?”
“No, I mean, food and drink were provided and every person that I would be texting was there tonight.”
“Richard forbid you from bringing your phone, didn’t he?” Harry asked with a smirk and she sighed.
“OK, yes, he did…he said something about me sulking in the corner all the time or whatever.”
“You do look very unapproachable when you’re on your phone. You’ve got this like…broody, angry face going on.” He said trying to mimic it and she laughed loudly before they took off as the light turned green.
“That’s not my angry face, if anyone should be familiar with my angry face it’s you.” She reminded and he chuckled, “S’my concentration face. Like sometimes I get ideas and I start writing them in my notes or other times I’m reading a book or an article and it’s like so loud that it takes extra willingness to concentrate.” She explained and he smiled at her.
“Well maybe don’t read at parties.” He suggested and she glanced at him incredulously.
“If I don’t read at parties how will I maintain my reputation as mysterious and elusive, Harry?” She asked jokingly and he grinned.
“You’re so annoying.” He muttered as she giggled beside him.
“So where are we going?” She finally asked and he turned to her.
“Ummm, wherever you want to go.” He shrugged and she hummed pensively.
“Take me to…a place that means a lot to you.” She said and he chuckled.
“Here?!” He asked and she nodded, “God...this is my home, tons of places mean a lot to me.” He chuckled as he thought about it, “OK, I’ve got it. Hang on!” He warned with a big smile as he sped up and just made it onto the 405-S ramp.
Y/N’s hair was whipping back with the wind as they sped down the freeway. He was blasting Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac which made her feel like she was the main character because before he played it he said it was dedicated to her elusiveness and mysteriousness, which she appreciated. Soon he was signaling to get off on La Cienega and as they continued driving down the street she saw the giant Randy’s Donut donut and she gasped.
“You know, I’ve  never actually been here before! Is this where we’re going?” She asked happily and he chuckled.
“It’s not, but we can stop if you want?”
“It’s alright.”
“You sounded so excited, like you wanted to stop. So I’m gonna stop.” He said as he started to slow down as they approached the entrance and she smiled at him.
“Well, if you insist…” she hummed and he chuckled. They found a spot to park and walked over to the window. It was 10pm but there were still a few people in line waiting to be served.  “What do you get?” She asked him.
“Usually the maple raised, wheat and honey cake, or the red velvet one if I’m feeling particularly fancy.” He said to her and she smiled.
“That does sound good…” she said as she peeked around a few people to get a better look at the menu displayed on a big screen inside. “They have a fruity pebbles one.” She gasped.
“Such a child.” He joked.
“I didn’t say I was going to get it. Fruity pebbles are just super nostalgic and they smell amazing.” She defended.
“That’s true, they do smell divine…”
“Oh, they have blueberry…that’s it. That’s the one I want.”
“OK.” He chuckled.
As they stood in line Harry couldn’t help but notice that a few guys in the other line were ogling her a bit too much for his liking. They were obviously young since they were being obnoxious and loud, trying to get her to turn around, but she didn’t seem to be taking the bait. He leaned in closer to her and grabbed her hand, which caught her by surprise and she glanced up to him and he smiled down at her.
“Is this OK?” He asked her lowly and she nodded as she scooted a little closer to him as a light breeze blew over them and made her shiver. She was in a thin little party dress and her platform boots and the night was only getting colder, they were due for more rain over the weekend. He wasn’t even wearing a jacket he could offer her so he just pulled her in front of him and hugged around her waist. He couldn’t help but smile as her hands came up to his and she slotted her fingers in between his. She smiled as his warmth pressed into her back  and she just leaned her weight back on him. He leaned down a bit to reach her ear before he spoke, “That’s what I mean when I said people are always trying to impress you.” He said quietly and her body shook with a giggle.
“How is being obnoxious impressive?”
“I literally have no idea.” He chuckled as they moved up in the line.
“Hi, I’m so sorry to interrupt.” They heard from beside them and turned to see a younger girl and her friend standing a few feet away, “We really like your album.” One of the girls said with a nervous smile.
“Oh! Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.” Y/N smiled happily, but she kept her voice down as Harry let her go so she could talk to the girls who started gushing about how pretty she looked. Which they were right, she looked beautiful.
Well, to Harry she always did, but she did just a little bit more when she had events and things to do. Often times he felt that when people did themselves up for events they went so overboard that they barely even looked like themselves, but not Y/N. She had mastered this effortless look that proved that a little goes a long way; she was almost ethereal. He liked that she didn’t care to hire a glam team to turn her into another Hollywood starlet clone; she and the rest of the band did most of their looks themselves. He recalls that at the BRITS earlier in the year she was crammed between him and Kassie, smearing some eyeshadow onto her eyelids and getting on her mascara just minutes before they would have to walk the carpet. Witnessing that made him like her even more. That was what drew him to them in the first place, their authenticity, and well if anyone was a champion of unapologetically being your authentic self it was her. She made everyone feel good about exactly who they were and he loved that about her.
“Harry, would you mind taking a picture for us?” She asked him and he shook his head.
“Course not.” He smiled as one of the girls handed over her phone to him. He took several and then handed it back.
“Can we get one with both of you too? You’re like a total icon.” The girl said to Harry and he shook his head bashfully.
“Hardly.” He said to her humbly as Y/N asked the person ahead of them to take their picture. After they got a few pictures the girls said their goodbyes and got back into the line. As soon as she and Harry stepped up he boxed her in between his body and the counter. “Hi, can I get a blueberry cake, red velvet cake, and a…large? Crewneck?” He said to the woman at the window and she nodded.
“What color for the crewneck? We have gray and navy blue.” She said.
“What color?” He asked Y/N softly and she glanced between him and the cashier.
“Oh! For me?”
“Yeah, you’re shivering and I don’t have anything in my car.” He said to her and she smiled at him.
“Ummm, I’ll get the gray one.” She said to the woman who nodded and then gave them the total before rushing off to grab their stuff. “I’m paying you back.”
“Absolutely not. This is your first time here, so think of it as a commemoration gift.” He said to her and she shook her head. “And if you ever try to pay me back I will return it to you in pennies.” He said and she laughed as she shook her head.
“You’re something else.”
“I know, love. I know.” He hummed.
“Here you are!” The woman said as she returned with the sweater and a baggy with their donuts.
“Thank you!” He and Y/N said simultaneously before walking off to the side. “Gimme these.” Harry said grabbing the donuts from Y/N and he gripped the bag between his teeth as he helped pull the crewneck over her head as she got her arms into the sleeves. Yes, it was oversized on her, but crewnecks were meant to be baggy, they just were. It was a bit long as well, it was a bit shorter on her than the dress she was wearing and it made him wonder what she’d look like in his own clothes. He liked wearing oversized things just as much as everyone else, so he’d imagine that she’d look absolutely swallowed and adorable in his hoodies. They walked back to his car hand in hand before they each had to get into their own sides and as they sat down she turned to him.
“I have to tell you something.” She said and he looked a little bit concerned but nodded, indicating for her to go on. “I really, really love that you don’t open the car door for me.” He looked at her with narrowed eyes, “I swear I’m not being a smart ass or sarcastic. Like when guys do that it just…bothers me because like…. I have functioning arms, you know? Like I can do that myself, I don’t need help! And it’s not like one of those general polite things, like holding the door open for someone who’s behind you! Like that makes sense, because it’s more than one person coming through the door! But in the car only one person can get into the passenger side so why does someone else even think to touch my door?” She asked and he chuckled.
“I can see you’re very passionate about this.” He grinned and she sighed and nodded.
“Yes. Yes, I am…for some weird reason. It’s just relieving and it just might be by favorite thing about you.” She decided and he grinned.
“Seriously? My unwillingness to participate in benevolent sexism is your favorite thing about me?” He asked for clarification and she smiled.
“Yes.”
“It can’t be anything else?” He asked and she rolled her eyes up as she hummed pensively.
“Mmmm… no. That’s it.” She confirmed and he chuckled.
“I’ll check again at the end of the night if that’s your favorite thing about me.” He said smugly and she turned to him with a grin.
“What’s that supposed to mean? What are you insinuating?” She questioned and he smirked.
“You’ll see…” he hummed as he started the car and they took off. They only drove a few more minutes before Y/N saw the Sizzler’s on her left and then the Forum right up ahead. “Oh…interesting.” She said and he smiled at her.
“Yeah. He said to her and she hummed, really anxious now to see why this particular place meant a lot to him. They kept driving straight and went around the back of the lot and he wheeled to a stop. It was desolate tonight, which was rare. He put the car in park and she turned to him and he smiled.
“So when I was 14 we came here on a family vacation. Like my parents and sister and aunt and uncle cousins…I’m the baby of the family by the way.” He disclosed and she smiled as he shared this, “So…my oldest cousin discovered that Coldplay had a show and he’d missed their show in England and he wanted to go. My sister was also a fan and I mean, I was too.”
“Yeah, it’s Coldplay!” Y/N said and he chuckled.
“Exactly! So my cousin convinced the adults to let us get tickets, they didn’t want to bring me along because I was the youngest, but I wanted to go. Anyway, saw Coldplay, my first concert ever.” He said and she smiled, “And afterwards we were waiting to get picked up, but my stepdad got lost and ended up going another way so we were just hanging out, right over there because it was well lit.” He pointed to where the trailers and trucks were usually set up, “My cousin and sister went up to see the merch and I just waited there, with my other cousin like they told me to.” He recalled, “And then out of nowhere a couple girls started panicking and Chris and Will walk on over to say hello.”
“No way!” Y/N giggled with surprise and he nodded.
“Yeah! And he was so kind to everyone. I didn’t have anything with me to get a photo or an autograph. But I was the only child there so he gravitated my way, asked where I was from and he was happy to hear that we were from England. And me being the brazen kid I was, I told him I also sang and wanted to start a band with my friends from school, like they did. And he told me that he was rooting for me, to believe in my music, and to never give up on my music. And…so I never did.” He finished his story and she was smiling so brightly. His story was so wholesome it made her eyes well up, that was so beautiful! What an experience to have with someone.
“That’s so amazing, Harry. Like so fucking cool!” She said with excitement and he hummed and nodded.
“I got really lucky that night.” He said softly “And well, whenever I get stuck or feel insecure or like I’m losing my touch I come here and it reminds me to never give up on my music. To continue believing in myself…so that’s why this place means a lot to me.”
“And well, you’ve produced for Coldplay now. Did he remember you?” She asked and he chuckled.
“He kind of did, mostly because I was a British child at one of their LA shows.” He said as they laughed softly, “He didn’t remember what we had spoken about or anything specific. And I did tell him and thank him because, if he hadn’t said that to me I’d definitely be in a whole other world, you know? It was cool and so fucking unreal for someone like me to have that full circle moment that so many people never get.” He expressed and she nodded, “And you know, those of us that get to spend our lives drowning in our passion, making art, literally getting paid to live and experience the best life has to offer just so that we can commemorate it with our art…like we’re so fortunate and so fucking lucky. It’s hard to remember that sometimes with the dark sides of this industry or even just the fame. But this is the best thing that will ever happen to you, Y/N. And what you do now that you have this platform matters more than ever. And that’s why I like you and the band, you guys are so down to earth, you’re in it for the art, you’re in it to have fun, you’re all so genuine and yourselves…never change that. Because as long as you stay in tune with yourself, even when you get stuck or feel like giving up, you’ll find your way back.” He said with certainty. And as he looked back to her she was watching him intently and then nodded in understanding at what he’d just advised. “Sorry, that got super deep, super fast-”
“It’s alright. I mean, we were bound to get deep when I asked you to bring me someplace meaningful to you.” She said and he shrugged and smiled.
“True…”
“And I know that I’ve got this like look about me that screams “I learn on my own” and “I don’t care what anyone says”, but it’s just that, a look. I promise that after the whole thing with Dr. Auclair I started taking in and listening and considering everything you’ve said to me. So I just want you to know that I listened to what you’ve just said to me, and thank you because after feeling so overwhelmed by everything tonight I just… I really needed to hear that. And I’m not going to forget it.” She shared and he smiled as he reached for her hand she smiled as he slotted their fingers together. “H, hand me the aux.” she said and he grabbed his phone and gave it over and she turned the phone away from him to type something out and then she locked it before grabbing his hand again and second later “Champion of the World” started to play over the car’s speaker and he smiled down at his lap before turning his head to look at her.
“Nice one.” He said softly and she smiled brightly at him. She was in love with the way he was looking at her in this moment. Her smile slowly started to fade as she just took him in intently. She was memorizing the details of his perfectly sculpted face, memorizing the indecipherable feeling he was emitting through his eyes. Whatever it was, it was undoubtedly a good feeling. She started to lean in and he joined her in the middle as their lips met with blazing passion as these big, beautiful emotions surged through and between them. “Do…” he paused as his lips smashed into hers once more, “d’you wanna…go back t’mine?” He rushed out with his exhale before their lips met again. He felt her nod ‘yes’ but he wanted to hear her say it. He need to, so that he knew for a fact that he wasn’t imaging that Y/N, this marvelous and radiant person, wanted him too. “Hmmm?” He insisted.
“Yeah.” She mumbled, “Take me home.” She said quietly. It was so hard to tear away from her after she said that to him.
It was just a 20 minute drive to his house in the hills and the whole time they held hands. Once they got there they wasted no time in getting inside and to his bedroom. They were undressing on the way there. It was giggly and clumsy because for some reason she was leading while Harry called out directions to her, but her unfamiliarity with his space was showing as she bumped into things along the way. When she finally got to his room he picked her up from behind and flung her onto his bed. She shrieked as she landed on the mattress with a muted thump. Harry soon climbed over her and kissed her through his smile.
“You’re so fucking pretty.” He hummed into her lips and she smiled. “I can’t get over it.” He exhaled before they started making out again.
Y/N whimpered as his erection rubbed over her dribbling pussy. Well, over her panties, but she was so sensitive that he might as well have been rubbing himself bare through her folds. A wave of warmth pulsed through her body as his lips moved down her neck. She arched her back as he started to snake his hands under to get her bra unclasped. He did so quickly and dexterously before pulled it away from her body and sucked her nipple into his mouth. She hummed with pleasure as the other was fondled with intent. He wasn’t being delicate with her and she loved that.
“Oh fuck…” she chuckled as he bit down on her nipple for a few seconds before sucking it hard. She was so wet for him that she was squirming as her cunt throbbed and pulse with need, “Harry. Harry, please.” She keened as she tried to find his hips with her own, “Need you inside. I need to feel you so bad.” She muttered into the dark as he sucked his mark on her breasts.
“Need me, baby?” He asked her before continuing to kiss down her body.
“Yes. Yes, I need you so bad…fuck.” She groaned as he kissed over her clothed cunt. He patted her thigh and she lifted her bum and he dragged her panties down her legs as he kissed right over her clit before licking through her slit and flicking her little bud a few times. “Harry, fuck that’s so good!” She whimpered. His licks started getting heavier and languid, sloppier even. She could feel his stubble and mustache tickling her already hypersensitive pussy as he moved his head from side to side with intent. Y/N tangled her fingers in his hair as she thrusted up to his mouth, grinding herself against him. She noticed that he grew more whiny and vocal as she used him and tugged at his hair and it made her even more aroused.
“You like when I use you to get off?” She asked and his lips turned up in a smile as his eyes fluttered up to hers, “I’ll take that as a yes.” She hummed before biting her lip and moaning, “Fuck, that’s perfect!” She praised him as he sucked her clit, brushing his tongue over it each time he’d suck it in, “Fuck…” She sighed with a smile, “y’suck my clit so good.” She panted as her tummy tightened deliciously with pleasure, “You’re gonna make me come!” She whimpered and he moaned against her, causing her toes to curl as her walls started to pulse hard and fast as she vibrated from the inside out. “Oh fuck!” She shrieked as Harry sunk two fingers into her without a warning and started to fuck her in time with his sucks on her clit. Not slowing down for a moment as she started to come.
Her hips wriggled around and her back arched as she trembled as he pulled yet another orgasm out of her without even letting her come down form the first one. Her ears were ringing and she was covered in goosebumps as the waves of pleasure rippled through her. Finally he started to slow down and then gently eased his fingers out of her.
“Taste so good, baby.” He hummed against her mound before kissing and crawling back up to her mouth. As soon as he was within reach she crashed her mouth onto his.
“That was the best head…holy fucking shit. That thing you did with the sucking and the tongue?!” She expressed with a bewildered smile.
“Enough to update your favorite thing about me?” He asked with a grin and she hummed pensively.
“I think not.” She said and he chuckled and shook his head.
“You’re such a turd.”
“Thank you.” She grinned and he chuckled. “Harry?”
“Yeah?”
“I like still want to have sex with you. Like really badly.” She said and his eyes widened as he chuckled.
“Yeah, ummm, sorry I was just giving you a little break.”
“I don’t take breaks.” She hummed as he leaned over to grab a condom from his bedside table.
“Well, good to know.” He smirked as he knelt up to get it on himself as she repositioned herself against his pillows. Watching him roll down the condom with lustful eyes and a kiss-bitten lip held down beneath her teeth. He was so fucking perfect that it was almost physically painful. And well, Y/N could admit that he was also perfect inside, like where it counted. She pressed herself to sit up and pushed herself up to pull his head down to meet him in a deep and searing kiss. He let himself fall into it and continued his task blindly. When he shifted above her she laid back down as he guided his cock down to her entrance where he gently prodded at her leaking and tight little hole a handful of times before he surged into her. His thick cock pushed her walls apart as he glided in, in one fluid motion.
“Harry!” She gasped, back arched and body tense as he plunged in to the hilt with very little resistance, “Mmmmm you’re so deep!” She whimpered lowly.
“S’that where you wanted to feel me, baby? Are you getting what you wanted? What you need from me?” He asked and she nodded.
“Yes, Harry…” she sang breathily as he started to pulse his hips, his tip nudged into her g-spot over and over and over, her breath was hitching and her legs trembling.
“Fuck, you’re squeezing so hard…” he hummed in delight, “Come for me, baby. Cream on my cock.” He panted and she moaned loudly at his filthy words as she came undone. She was coming so hard, she’d never had an orgasm solely from having her g-spot stimulated, it was game changing. A pressure had formed inside of her that she had never felt before, but it was as he had said, that’s exactly where it ached for him and he was satiating that perfectly.
His thrusts slowed down as she settled from her orgasm, but he kept going, slow and deep, not really letting the entire feeling fade. Extending and milking the pleasure for her as far as humanly possible. And it was happening as he groaned and picked up his pace. When he started going he knocked his head back and grunted with each deep pump of his cock into her. She was so wet, the sounds of her arousal sopping her up for him were unreal, she’d never been that wet before. She was certain of it.
“I’m so close. Getting so close.” He groaned lowly as his hips started to snap harder with each dip into her pussy. One of his hands slid up from her waist to her breast, kneading it and playing with it as he brought them both closer and closer to the final orgasm. She was a fucking goddess, he wanted to obsess over her until he had learned every single detail of who she was. “Fuck, rub your little clit. Want you to come with me.” He said and she immediately did as he said. Her orgasm started to build at double speed than before. She was quickly right on the edge with him, holding on just a little bit more, trying to get the most out of this moment together until their bodies demanded their climax. “Oh shit…oh…oh… fuuuuuck.” He grunted before he started to moan as his orgasm overcame him. His desperate thrusts and gorgeous sounds pushed her over the edge. The fact that he was vocal enhanced everything for her, it brought a feeling of pleasure to her that she’d never experienced. As they lay there in satisfaction, recovering from those incredible, earth shattering orgasms she spoke up.
“I like that you’re not shy with your sounds. It’s really attractive.” She hummed as she ran her finger nails down his arm that was draped over her body.
“You know, I usually am more of a heavy breathing kind of guy. But with you being how you are, I don’t know, I just felt like I didn’t have to hold anything I felt back.” He said and she smiled.
“Yeah…you can, do that with me, you know? For like anything you need…Not hold back I mean.” She added, “You can not “hold back” with me anytime and for anything.” She rephrased and he was just smirking as she tried to un-confuse herself. She only stopped when she felt his body shaking before he burst into laughter.
“I got what you meant the first time, baby.” He assured and she shook her head as she laughed. “And I want that for you too. To not hold back with me.”
“OK. I won’t.” She smiled as she confirmed this to him.
After that night everything between Y/N and Harry changed. Any rational human would think that falling in love after one night together was completely insane, but that’s exactly what had happened. The two spent time together every single day up until the day Y/N and her band left for tour. With his newfound time alone he decided to follow through with auditioning for that film he was asked to compose for and after a few nerve-racking weeks he’d found out he’d gotten the part. Obviously, Y/N was happy for him and they celebrated over FaceTime. But now that he had a new gig he needed to just take some time to get the compositions together.
Harry worked diligently on the film score for three months. He only needed 4 pieces as there would be other songs weaved through out the film. And then it was off to filming. Filming was in Canada and that went on for 8 months. Y/N had been able to visit after the band’s tour ended, but it was just for two weeks as they were heading back into the studio soon. And just like that it had been a year apart. Because he was working on his film, he couldn’t produce their next album, though during their down time over the next holiday he did give it a listen and share some insights with her. And then the following March he got some bad news from back home about his father and he headed back for a few weeks.
When he returned he was really upset about it, but he had solely come to break up with Y/N. His dad didn’t have very long apparently and he’d been away for so long that he decided that he needed to be there with him for as long as he could. He was going to look after him until the end. And well, Y/N completely understood why he wanted and needed to do that. It was sad, but amicable. And for the first few months they continued their routine of chatting regularly, but she soon discovered that it was just prolonging her pain. She wrote a song from it that she called “Good Grief”. It was about grieving the beautiful things, remembering them with love, and simultaneously talking about it being hard to let things like that go. That song launched them into an entirely new era and things took off for the band which ended up putting even more distance between the two. Harry also didn’t move back to LA, so they didn’t even have a chance to easily see each other and with each decision pulling them further apart they inevitably fell out of touch.
It was three years after their break up now and the two were doing well. Y/N was about to be engaged. Well, she assumed she was. Her boyfriend, Riley had been extra odd all week and her friends and family were oddly unavailable so she was expecting it. Harry had just moved back to LA after all that time, he just needed a change of pace after looking after his dad for one year and then dealing with the aftermath of it all for the next few. He was excited to come back, reconnect with some old friends…and of course, talk to Y/N. He hadn’t moved on, he hadn’t loved anyone like he had loved her and he just wanted to be back in her life, in nay capacity. She was it for him, he knew that for certain.
It was a day like any other, except for one thing…she was craving a donut. But not just any donut, a red velvet donut from Randy’s. She knew it was completely ridiculous to be driving out to Inglewood at 4pm for a donut, but she was alone for the evening and had nothing better to do since apparently everyone in her life was mysteriously busy. She got in line for the drive thru and as she glanced out of her window absentmindedly she saw a very familiar face walking over to the back of the line. She smiled wide and her heart did flips and her stomach fluttered with butterflies at the sight of him. Of seeing him here of all places. Her mind went back to that night he brought her here. How perfectly wonderful that had been.
“Harry!” She shouted out the window and he glanced in her direction and his lips widened in a smile as he waved. “I’m gonna get out!” She shouted and he shot her a thumbs up and got out of the line to meet her where she parked. She rushed out of her car and straight into his arms. He hugged her tight and spun her around as they laughed and greeted each other with enthusiasm. “Wow! How insane to be running into you here!”
“I know…” he shook his head.
“What brings you to LA?” She asked.
“I’m moving back actually. Just touched down and figured a little detour wouldn’t hurt.” He said and her eyebrows raised.
“Oh, that’s good. It’ll be nice to have you within reach.” She said with a smile and he nodded, “I’m sorry about everything with your dad. I wanted to call or something, but I didn’t know if I even had the right to since we haven’t talked in a long time.” She explained herself.
“You always have a right, Y/N. Love of my life, remember?” He said and she smiled.
“Light of my life.” She said as she reached for his hand and squeezed it gently.
They got their donuts and talked for a bit before they headed off. She waited a few days and this intense need to see him again didn’t go away. So she talked to the band about it, they knew each of them the best and well, they all agreed that maybe they needed a better form of closure. So she reached out to Harry and asked him if he wanted to go for lunch. And he accepted, which is what led them to their meet up at Seabird’s Kitchen.
“You look pretty.” He complimented her as he hugged her quickly.
“Thanks. I rushed over from a meeting I had this morning.”
“Ah, work attire.”
“Yeah.” She giggled, “So how are you settling in? Are you back at the old house?” She asked and he shook his head.
“Nah, got something smaller. Got rid of that place a few years back.”
“Oh, I didn’t know.” She pouted, “So many amazing memories there.” She hummed and Harry nodded.
“So what’s up?” He asked her and she sighed.
“Well…as you know, what we had together it was…magic. Literally heaven on earth.”
“We were pretty perfect weren’t we?” He smiled fondly and she nodded.
“Yeah…and ummmm, well I’ve never really been able to 100% move on because well…there were just a lot of things left unsaid because we kind of broke up and then you went back home. And I guess I just…didn’t want to talk to you about that when I knew that you were dealing with so much already.” She explained and he hummed. “I guess I just needed closure on a few things because…well, I ummm….” She swallowed thickly, she had no idea why she felt guilty saying this to him, but it just felt wrong to tell Harry this information, it didn’t make any sense, “I think I’m getting engaged really soon.” She said and his eyebrows shot up.
“Oh!” He said and quickly morphed his surprise into a smile instead of the frown that was clawing itself to the surface, “Congrats!” He smiled brightly. He knew that she had a boyfriend…but he doesn’t know why it never felt real to him. Maybe because he hadn’t heard it from her own two lips. Or perhaps because he was far away so it didn’t feel like a reality to him? Who knows, but reality hit him over the head with that one and he could feel his heart breaking over her once again.
“Thank you.” She forced her smile as best as she could. As she looked down at his hand she could very easily picture herself holding it in hers. She could see herself enjoying it and her heart warming as she pictured their fingers interlacing together. As if no time at all had ever passed. It made her feel afraid now as all of it started rushing back to her.
“Hey, are you alright?” Harry asked her and she nodded.
“Yeah, I just got distracted.” She shook her head, “Ummm, well anyway I just wanted to I guess give us the proper goodbye we deserved.” She said and he nodded with a broken heart but he stayed for 3 hours, catching up, joking around, talking, reminiscing until it was time to go. Harry was walking Y/N to her car since she had parked quite far down the street. And when they got to her car she had him hop in so that she could give him a ride back to his car. And they hummed to her music playing from her phone as they made the short drive over, and soon they were just saying their goodbyes. He was hugging her over the console, mentally saying a different kind of goodbye to her that was making his heart wilt in his chest. They were about to pull back when “Champion of the World” started to play and she smiled as she relaxed in his hold before pulling back a bit, their foreheads pressing together and it felt like no time had passed at all.
“We’ve been here before.” He whispered and she hummed in confirmation as her eyes fluttered shut to give herself a moment. This was hurting far more than she expected it to. It felt like they were breaking up all over again and this time it was her choice and he was complacent in her decision. It felt wrong to be saying goodbye to each other twice. “I don’t think I’m ever gonna fall out of love with you.” He said softly and her eyes fluttered open and she slightly frowned as she looked from his eyes to his lips a couple of times before just doing what her intrusive thoughts had been telling her to do since he’d shown up this afternoon. She surged forward and slotted her lips against his.
Harry didn’t hesitate to kiss back. One deep kiss led them to a stolen peck, then another, and then a deeper kiss, and more and more. It felt like they were kissing to makeup for the three years they hadn’t been able to kiss. There was still so much love between them, Y/N supposes it had just been dormant this entire time he was gone. And she had indeed missed how it felt to be completely and undeniably gone for someone. There wasn’t another thought running through her mind in that moment, so as they pulled away she knew that she was still in love with him. She had been this whole time.
“Fuck…sorry.” He whispered and she shook her head.
“I kissed you, so it’s alright. I’m sorry, if I kissed you and you didn’t want to kiss me.” She apologized.
“I’d never not want to kiss you.” He chuckled and she smiled with a heat in her cheeks from his flirtations. “Do you regret it yet?” He asked teasingly and she shook her head, but she wasn’t smiling. She was completely serious.
“I can’t regret anything that happens between us. It’s just a proper goodbye, yeah?” She said sadly and he nodded wordlessly.
“Hey, you better invite me to the wedding. Just because it’s not me, it doesn’t mean I don’t want to be there or that I’m not happy for you. OK?”
“OK.” She smiled and with that he got out and they went their separate ways.
She cried the entire way home and she felt completely heart broken. Like she had lost him all over again and she couldn’t be getting married to someone when she was in love with someone who wasn’t the person she was supposed to marry.  She was so absolutely confused and it was affecting her work horribly. They were in the middle of some writing sessions for their next album and she was not being even a little bit helpful. Her mind was elsewhere. And it was like that for two whole weeks and everyone was fed up with her.
“Dude what is wrong with you?” Kassie asked her and she groaned.
“I don’t know…I’m really distracted.” She fibbed and everyone sighed, “I just…can’t do this today. Sorry, guys.” She said before gathering her things and heading out. When she got to her apartment Riley was there  making dinner and it made her heart sad that it wasn’t Harry.
“Hey, love!” He smiled and the smile faded as soon as he saw her face.
“Ummm, he’s back. And I asked to see him.” She said to Riley who sighed. He had been there through the entire break up, between her and Harry. At the time he was a session musician who’d been hired to play on one of their songs. But he was so nice and thoughtful. But he also knew the love that she and Harry shared for each other. In a way he always expected their paths to cross again, but he’d just hoped that it wouldn’t affect her. But he still did, in every way apparently.
“When are you seeing him?”
“It was two weeks ago.” She said and he nodded. “I didn’t know how to tell you. I was just hoping to get some closure on some stuff. But then I…I realized that I’m still in love with him. And I kissed him.” She confessed everything, “I’m really sorry.”
“Jesus, Y/N.” Riley said with disappointment.
“I know…I should’ve told you right away but I was trying to figure out what I should do.”
“There’s only one thing to do, Y/N. You said you’re in love with him.” Riley shook his head, “You know, I always knew this would happen some day.” He said lowly, “I was stupid for thinking you’d pick me though.” He said as he made his way towards the couch and grabbed his sweater and he furiously slipped into his sneakers, “Please, don’t call me when this all blows up in your face.” He said with spite before he slammed the door hard on his way out.
She frowned, obviously she deserved that, but he was a good guy. He hadn’t done anything wrong, he just….wasn’t the love of her life. Maybe she was foolish for thinking that things could start back up with Harry. Well, it’d been a few years, they’d been through plenty of things on their own, it was safe to say that they were pretty different people now. But the way things felt were exactly the same, it wasn’t just nostalgia. Being with him made her feel alive and in control and like everything would be alright. She was a bit stuck with her next step, as she weighed out her options. She sighed and decided to take a drive to the place that always helped her think.
The sun was setting as she placed her hands on the white rails of the Forum parking lot. After Harry left she’d made it her special place to come think. He had given this place a new meaning to her and it felt like the best place to decide on whether that goodbye they had was the final one or if she should give in to her desires and go after him. She stood there for a few minutes, just the sounds of the city around her.
“Why am I not surprised to see you here?” She heard and turned around to see Harry in his shorts and hoodie, smiling brightly and she smiled back.
“What brings you here?” She asked.
“Feeling a bit stuck…And you?”
“Same.” She responded. They were quiet for a little bit before she spoke up, “I think we’re feeling stuck over the same thing.” She said to him and he glanced to her, his eyes soft as he looked over to her.
“Yeah? What’s that?”
“Whether it’s too late for us or not.” She said softly and he hummed as he looked at her.
“Well what do you think?” He asked and she bit her lip.
“I told Riley we kissed…he told me not to call him.” She said and he frowned.
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m not.” She said softly and he glanced up into her eyes with a gleam of hope, “I’ve been in love with you this whole time. Waiting for you. I want us back. I-if you’ll still have me.” She offered a hopeful smile and he grabbed her face and leaned in to kiss her.
“Course I’ll have you.” He hummed with a smile, “You’re the love of my life.” He said softly and she smiled against his lips.
“And you’re the light of my life.”
As always, all feedback is appreciated!

turbulence? no way!
falling stars fic masterpost
Gunfire illuminated the room. Omega's shots were wild, and his bullets flew everywhere. They ricocheted off the walls, floor, and ceiling, and they shattered the empty pods lined up against the back wall. They turned the computer console in the middle of the floor into swiss cheese. They almost hit Rouge, but her reflexes were better than the robot's aim, and she managed to dive behind a bulky generator before anything bad could happen to her.
She started thinking about what she could do to stop the robot's rampage.
Sonic wasn't thinking about that at all though. He was too preoccupied with dodging Omega's shots to worry about it. He spent all of his brainpower on his jumps. Jump onto a wire, jump down to the floor, jump behind a metal box. Anything to avoid getting punched full of holes. His expression was troubled, but not because of the dire situation he was currently in; he was worried about Omega.
"If I'd known about this ice cold reception, I would've brought a jacket!" Sonic quipped in between machine gun rounds.
"A JACKET WOULD NOT SAVE YOU FROM MY WRATH," Omega said, his heavy metal arms clicking as his weapons reloaded. "NOW STAND STILL SO THAT I MAY REPLACE YOUR BONES WITH LEAD."
Sonic didn't stop moving. He was zigzagging his way closer to Omega, careful to avoid the robot's frenzied gunfire. However, right as he was about to leap onto Omega's shoulders, the robot managed to miss a shot so badly that it flew three feet over Sonic's head and pierced the base of the pod that Shadow was sleeping in.
Sonic pulled a 180 immediately. He heard the hatch unlock before he saw it start to open. His feet slipped on the liquid that drained out of the pod in a waterfall of green slime, but he kept going, scraping his claws against the slick floor stubbornly. Shadow blinked awake a second later. The dark hedgehog pushed open the hatch and looked over at Omega, but before he could take a step toward him, Sonic snatched him and they both rolled behind the computer console together.
Then, Shadow sat up. Despite the stressful situation he suddenly found himself in, his month long nap had left him feeling good, and so it was with a clear mind that he took in his surroundings. But it didn't last long. With one look at Sonic, his headache returned. "Blue?" he said, the name sounding almost hesitant as he voiced it. Like he wasn't sure if the hedgehog in front of him was really his friend or not.
"Hey, Stripes," Sonic said. "Sorry I’m late. But here, I got something that'll make it up to you!" He removed the inhibitors from his wrists, grabbed Shadow's hand, and pressed the rings into his palm. Then, he grinned. "Unfortunately, Egghead turned out to be a quack. The good news is he was lying about everything, not just the good stuff!"
Shadow stared at Sonic. He stared at him very hard. "What happened to you?" he asked quietly.
Sonic's grin didn't waver. "Well, for starters, I got a job. The uniform kicked, but that's about it."
Shadow frowned. "Your eyes," he pressed. "They're glowing."
"Heh. I guess I finally thought about it hard enough!" Sonic rubbed his nose. Under his hand, his grin faded. "Look," he said, pressing the rings firmly into Shadow's hand with both of his own, "I'm still me. The doc tried to change that, but I couldn't stand it. Following him around was way past boring!"
Shadow looked down at their clasped hands, and the rings pressed in between them. He ignored them completely. With his voice steeped in frustration, he asked, "The Doctor stripped you of your free will?"
"Technically," Sonic said, a little uncomfortable now, "he didn't strip me of anything. He gave me a new leg, and force fed me some code. I'm not gonna thank him for that, though, since it was all a bunch of pro-Ivo propaganda!"
A coil of anger burned in Shadow's chest like a snake. "He won't go unpunished," Shadow said darkly. It hurt him to think that Sonic had suffered because of his own eagerness to take Eggman's hand. And Sonic's laissez faire attitude only served to fuel his vengeful heart.
Sonic watched the fire in Shadow's eyes burn with concern. "It's okay, dude. There's no need to keep your foot on the gas. All that's gonna do is run us in circles." The blue hedgehog smiled. It was a peace offering. "I dunno about you, but I'd rather take the fast track to freedom, and leave this place behind."
The viper in Shadow's chest continued to hiss and spit. He wouldn't let go of his grudge so easily. However, when he saw a hint of tiredness flicker behind Sonic's electric eyes, he resolved to put a pin in it. For later.
Finally, Shadow snapped the inhibitor rings onto his wrists. His headache vanished. The bubbles in his blood cooled. He let out a breath, feeling truly centered for the first time since waking up in the crater all that time ago. With a small nod, he said sincerely, "Thank you."
Sonic's eyes softened. His smile got warmer. "Don't mention it," he said. "Besides, it's not like Mr. Ivo was gonna make good on his promise." Sonic's expression shifted to something in between annoyance and relief. "I'm just glad that lady showed up when she did. Without her, who knows what would've happened!"
"Are you boys talking about little old me?"
Sonic and Shadow looked up. Towering over the computer console, they saw Omega staring down at them with Rouge on his shoulder. She had her legs crossed and a smug look on her face. "The name's Rouge, by the way," she said. "While you two were having your reunion, I took care of the problem. Omega here is on our side now. You're welcome."
"BLUE HEDGEHOG," Omega said, "THE BAT HAS INFORMED ME OF YOUR DEFECTIVE HARDWARE. I HAVE UPDATED YOUR STATUS TO 'ALLY.' DO NOT EXPECT AN APOLOGY FOR MY PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS TO EXTERMINATE YOU."
Sonic's eyebrow twitched at Omega's comment about his hardware. The way he saw it, him taking orders from Eggman was the real bug in his system. But Omega's bluntness wasn't intended as a means to aggravate him, and Sonic recognized that. It was just a shield to deflect from his feelings.
"It's cool," Sonic said. "It's my fault for draggin' my feet, anyway. When I got zapped by that Build-A-Robot machine, I stopped thinkin' about why I'd come here. It made me forget all about it--about Stripes, and about you. And it took awhile for me to remember." Sonic stood. Then, he winked at Omega. "Thanks for waiting up."
"I HAVE REMOVED WAITING FROM MY EXECUTABLES. NEXT TIME, I WILL BRING THE WHOLE BUILDING DOWN."
Sonic laughed. "If it's another bad guy's lair, I say go for it!"
Shadow, now standing, added, "You'd be doing the world a favor."
Rouge said, "Well, this heist turned out to be a total bust. I looked everywhere, but couldn't find a single gem!" She tapped her nails on Omega's shoulder. Then, her mouth tilted upwards. "But at least I won't be walking away empty handed. This makes us a team, boys!"
Sonic's ear twitched. He turned his head toward the door, but there was nothing there.
Shadow asked, "Hear something, hedgehog?"
Sonic said, "Nah. Must've been my imagination."
Rouge hopped down from Omega's shoulder. With her hands on her hips, she gestured at the door with one of her wings. "Let's beat it. As long as we're here, the deck's stacked against us. I'd rather not give Eggy any more leverage than he already has!"
With that, the four of them left the (now severely damaged) basement stasis room. Omega nearly went ballistic when he saw the buzzy bomber waiting for them in the hallway, but Sonic was quicker on the draw than him, and explained, "Think about it! You defied your programming, right? What's stopping the rest of Egghead's robots from carving their own paths too?"
Omega wasn't happy about it, but he had to admit that Sonic had a point. He stared intensely at the buzzy bomber hiding in Sonic's quills. His red eyed gaze was daring it to prove Sonic wrong. But it stayed there, its mandible slowly opening and closing as if to say, Truce?
Omega lowered his arm cannons. "THIS IS ACCEPTABLE. BUT THE ICE ON WHICH YOU SKATE IS THIN."
Immediately, the wasp robot perked up. It chittered smartly, and it took every ounce of Omega's willpower to not start blasting. Sonic snickered.
Then, the group continued on through the basement with Sonic leading the way. It wasn't long before they reached the lift. After piling into it, they began the long ascent to the ground floor of the facility. Thankfully, the levels came and went quickly. Sonic watched them pass by through the window, distracted.
The lift arrived at the ground floor of the Brain Bowl with a light ding. Everyone stepped out, except for Sonic, who was still staring out the window. The buzzy bomber tapped him on the forehead with one of its arms. Blinking, Sonic smiled apologetically at the wasp robot, and then followed everyone else out of the lift.
But he didn't get very far. After taking a few steps out into the hanger, he suddenly froze, and his eyes went wide.
Eggman said, "You didn't really think you'd be able to escape me that easily, did you, rodent?"
Sonic looked around, but Eggman wasn't there. He was hearing the voice in his head, projected from somewhere else, as a side effect of the botched de-Roboticization he'd experienced.
"I'm afraid I'm not done with you yet," Eggman continued. Sonic could practically hear the evil grin on his face. "Our confrontation is long overdue. I understand you're on your way out, so if you're in need of motivation, I've gathered your pathetic little friend here to watch your inevitable defeat!"
The doctor paused to cackle maniacally. The noise bounced around inside Sonic's skull like a twisted tennis ball.
"Better hurry. I can't guarantee its safety if you dawdle!"
Sonic was mad. Eggman had already wasted so much of his time, and now he was going to waste even more? The blue hedgehog scowled and turned around on his heel. He knew where Eggman was. It was like the coordinates had been beamed into his brain. However, before he could start moving toward it, he felt a hand grasp his shoulder.
It was Shadow. The dark hedgehog was looking at him with his usual serious expression, but there was a touch of concern in the way he pursed his lips. "The door is the other way," he said. "Now isn't the time for detours."
Sonic turned back around so he could face Shadow. "Something came up," he said vaguely. "I've gotta take care of it before we split. You go on ahead--I'll meet you guys outside."
Shadow folded his arms over his chest. "I won’t accept that. If you’re going after the Doctor, it won’t be alone.”
The voice of Eggman spoke in Sonic's head again. "Haven't you left yet? It's not like you to waste time, Sonic."
Scowling, Sonic shook his head. To Shadow, he said, "Take the badniks and get outta here. There's a stash of planes in the next building over. Should be on the first floor, just grab the one that looks like a manta ray--it's got the keys in the ignition."
"We're not leaving without you," Shadow said. "Whatever it is you're about to do--"
"Clock's ticking, Sonic," Eggman interrupted. "I wonder which part I should remove first? An antenna, perhaps?"
Sonic stepped away from Shadow. He ignored the looks Rouge and Omega gave him as he began to run toward the backdoor. "Just trust me," he called back over his shoulder. "And remember: first floor, manta ship. I'm countin' on you!"
Without stopping, Sonic kicked down the Brain Bowl's backdoor. He burst through the other side with a roll, and then jumped back up to his feet, still running. He was outside now, with his sights set squarely on the tall transmission tower at the far end of Scrap Brain Base. He weaved around commuting badniks and bounced over steel obstacles in his path, but it wasn't fast enough, he wasn't fast enough.
Eggman's voice came to him again. It was mocking him now. "Holding back at a time like this? Your limits must've changed since your fall if this is really your top speed!"
Sonic pushed himself harder. The red light at the top of the transmission tower peered down at him, a tiny dot in the sky, still so far away.
And then Eggman must've held the microphone up to the motobug, because Sonic heard it beep fearfully.
And he couldn't take it anymore.
After everything Eggman had put him through, after tricking him and Stripes into falling for his scheme, turning him into a robot, and making him do his bidding… Sonic went fast. Really, truly fast. So fast he rippled the air around him, and created a deafening boom so powerful it knocked out the power to the Base.
The gears ground to a halt and the badniks shuddered. Something in Sonic's head fizzled and popped, but he kept going, faster and faster.
He cleared the winding stairs of the transmission tower in the blink of an eye. He crashed through one of the top floor windows before another second could pass. The glass shattered, and fell in a flurry around him, but his quills kept him safe. Then, he rolled to the middle of the floor and uncurled, leaping up onto his feet with a scowl.
Because the power was down, it was dark inside of the transmission tower. Only the emergency lights were still functional, and they cast the whole room in an eerie red glow.
"Very impressive," Eggman said. Behind him, the motobug with the star on its head was parked. It shook like a leaf in the wind. "But now it's time for the final act," Eggman went on to say. "Honestly, I never expected you to stay under my thumb forever. One way or another, I knew you'd wriggle your way out of my control! Which is why I started working on something… something I'm sure you'll find quite familiar! Oh-ho-ho!"
Something heavy suddenly dropped down next to Sonic.
It was… Shadow?!
All of the fur on the back of Sonic's neck stood up. He took a step back, away from his friend. But it couldn't be his friend. It looked like him, but something was off. Wrong. The way its arms hung limply at its sides was uncanny. And when the thing lifted up its head to stare at Sonic, the blue hedgehog realized why.
The Shadow standing in front of him was a fake. Its eyes were a black screen, illuminated by two glowing orange irises. A copy, made by Eggman, presumably while the real Shadow had been fridged in the basement. Worst of all, it said nothing. It just stared at Sonic with that horrible, unnerving gaze.
Sonic said, "What kind of horror show are you runnin' here, doc?!"
"One powerful enough to take down even you!" Eggman replied haughtily. "This is it for you, Sonic. You'll soon find you've met your match with my Shadow Android!"
The Shadow Android shifted. Its arms no longer hung dead at its sides, and instead bent upwards, with its hands balled into fists. An attack position. It then shot forward, but Sonic sidestepped it easily. He had no interest in fighting the Shadow Android, because that was what Eggman wanted.
And he was sick of doing what Eggman wanted.
"Sorry, bolt brain," Sonic said, not sounding sorry at all, "but I ain't got time for a doppelganger deathmatch today! I've got a flight to catch!"
In a flash, Sonic ran behind Eggman and picked up his motobug friend. The Shadow Android followed after him, but Sonic was on his A-game now, and easily outsped the robot copy.
The emergency lights lit his path back to the window, and Sonic jumped out of it without looking back.
The Shadow Android, however, paused in front of the broken glass on the floor.
"What are you waiting for?" Eggman snapped. "After him!"
In the time it took Eggman to say that, Sonic had already made it back to the other end of Scrap Brain Base. He skidded to a halt on the runway in front of the manta ray ship, with Buggy held over his head. Shadow and Rouge turned to look at him.
"Nice of you to stop by, Blue," Rouge said. "You were right about the keys, but piloting an Eggman battleship is a little out of my wheelhouse. Omega was able to push this thing out of the garage, but that won't work for getting it off the ground, you know. So, unless you're saying you can fly it..."
Sonic grinned. "That's exactly what I'm saying!"
Shadow made a face. "You seem confident. Are you sure it's not unfounded?"
"Who knows! Maybe I used to fly planes. I've just got a good feeling about this!"
Shadow and Rouge looked at each other. Then, Shadow said, "We can't risk all of our lives--and all of these robot's lives--on a 'good feeling,' Blue."
Sonic's eyes sparkled, a little deviously. "You can if the feeling's good enough," he said. "Now hang on!"
After setting down the motobug, Sonic grabbed Shadow and Rouge by the arms, and carried them into the manta ship. When the motobug rolled in behind them, it tugged on the wire for the door, and the ship's hatch slammed shut.
Inside the ship, Omega was trying very hard to remain civil with the menagerie of badniks that had decided they'd rather kick it with Sonic than Eggman. He managed this by standing in the corner and facing the wall like he was in The Blair Witch Project.
The only badnik brave enough to get close to him was the buzzy bomber from the basement. It circled his head like a buzzard, but when Sonic passed them by on his way to the cockpit, the tinny voice of the wasp robot reassured him that everything was fine.
Omega loved compliments, after all.
Once they reached the cockpit, Sonic finally let Shadow and Rouge go. Irritated, Shadow began brushing himself off. He didn't appreciate being dragged through the hull of the ship like luggage.
Meanwhile, Rouge turned to Sonic and said, "Never. Ever. Do that again."
Sonic was examining the buttons and knobs on the ceiling of the cockpit. "Wouldn't'a done it without a good reason," he said. Then, still looking over the ship's controls, he pointed out the window. "See for yourself."
Shadow and Rouge looked out the window. Skating down the runway at a frightening pace was the Shadow Android. It had finally caught up to Sonic.
"Another trick of the Doctor's?" Shadow said, troubled by the sight of his robot doppelganger.
Sonic flipped a switch on the ceiling, and then sat down in the chair in front of the yoke. He grabbed it with both hands and said, "Whatever it is, it's not our problem anymore!"
The blue hedgehog eased forward on the yoke, his excitement showing on his face. Even though the manta ray ship was a prototype, Sonic knew it could still fly--Eggman wouldn't've bothered having him cart all that wiring over to the hanger while he was still a Robian if it couldn't.
"Got your seat belts fastened?" Sonic asked, obviously having way too much fun with this. "We're ready for takeoff!"
Shadow and Rouge gripped the back of the pilot's chair as the ship lurched forward. They watched as the Shadow Android continued to approach, almost on top of them now. But the manta ray accelerated quickly, and swallowed the fake hedgehog up underneath it. Then, the ship's wheels left the ground, and the manta ray lifted into the sky.
Through the clouds, everyone could see the ground, as well as Scrap Brain Base, quickly shrink into the distance.
Sonic let out a victory cheer. He didn't know that back at the transmission tower, Eggman had just tried and failed to contact him. It seemed as though the communicator in his head had broken along with the sound barrier during his earlier race to save the motobug.
Sonic continued racing the wind, unbothered.

choita, featuring trans!choso but in a way you wouldn’t expect
warnings: blood as lube, masturbation, incest, underage, minor manga spoilers i think??
Tumblr media
since the death wombs are basically past sorcerers, reincarnated into new bodies with the help of kenny, i can imagine choso’s utter confusion when the vessel of flesh he now inhibits has a penis. it’s weird, it’s new. he doesn’t mention it when he happens to be alone with his “father”
Tumblr media
in the past, when he was born, he remembered his “father” being slightly disappointed by the fact that his perfect first attempt of a human-cursed spirit hybrid wasn’t a boy. boys and men were strong, physically and mentally — at least that’s where society at that point in time was standing at.
girls and women though? weak, emotional, fragile bodies that could snap under a tad of too much pressure.
but kenjaku was determined to make the best out of it, not wanting his almost perfect first attempt to go to waste.
therefore choso was raised as a boy. the training was rough and on good days his “father” let him onto the sparring grounds without the bandages around his chest, which usually kept his plump breasts tightly confined — he could breathe better, move around freely, have his back straight without the harsh pressure on his lungs and rib bones prodding into his organs.
so now he had none of those worries, the body he was now inhabiting the apparent picture of what kenjaku had always wanted from the firstborn.
choso didn’t complain, though, he just wished it came with some sort of instructions. especially when he woke up one morning, around half a moon into staying with yuuji in what was once shibuya, with the appendage between his legs rock hard and rushing with his cursed blood.
his little brother was laying a few meters away from him on the carpeted ground of a hotel hallway they’ve been camping in, sleeping soundly, curled up on himself.
choso was on the verge of panicking, the ache in his lower body almost unbearable and the fabric of his undergarments felt good and weirdly overbearing at the same time. beads of sweat were forming on his flushed skin while he debated what to do.
“yuuji?” his brother stirred, sensing the agitated waves in choso’s cursed energy. the raven swallowed hard, feeling bad for waking up the young boy from sleep he so desperately needed.
yuuji shot up after a few seconds, mind immediately jumping to “emergency” but when his honey eyes set on choso, the alertness on his face was overwritten with confusion: “huh?”
“i- i’m sorry but- something’s wrong. with my body”, choso had never felt this helpless and pathetic. he was supposed to be a guiding light for his brothers, letting them watch him go downhill so they could walk a path without failure.
yuuji slowly crawled to him, hands and knees rubbing on the dusty red carpet. he took in choso’s body in the dim light, scanning him for injuries or other oddities. the crease between his brows was deep: “what do you mean?” choso swallowed, hard, shifting in his spot, and slowly opened his legs to reveal a tent.
“why is it like this? what do i do? is this bad?”, he shifted again, noted how the friction of something moving against it felt nice, “i don’t- my original body didn’t-“ he stopped his bad attempt at trying to explain, only drinking in yuuji’s expression. the boy was absolutely flabbergasted and just stared at the twitching thing.
“uhm, is this a joke?” yuuji looked up at him after a few seconds of utter silence. choso was almost offended at the question: “hah?! yuuji, my dearest brother, does this look like a joke to you?” the raven swiftly undid his robes and awkwardly tugged his undergarments down to his thighs. the chill air hitting the genital made him hiss quietly.
“it looks different too!”, he stated in panicked confusion, pointing at the angry red the head was spouting. when he raised his head to look at yuuji, he saw pure shock on the boy’s face — chin dropped to expose his open mouth, eyes wide. that certainly did not help choso’s state of mind. was he about to die?
“choso you- you can’t just- what the fuck.” choso let out a strangled sound of sheer terror and that finally seemed to snap something inside yuuji into place. the sorcerer ran his fingers through his hair, combing them back so they wouldn’t sit on his forehead anymore. he took a few deep breaths and choso could see the cogs inside his brother’s head turn.
“first of all, you’re fine, your body’s fine, okay?”, yuuji finally looked at choso’s face again and the raven slowly nodded, “and second of all, you’re hard. it’s normal, just means you’re, uhm, horny?” now, why did yuuji sound so unsure again?
“what’s… ‘horny’?”, choso carefully asked, still not used to the modern world’s vocabulary. he’d learned quite a bit from mahito and kenny’s conversations but this was the first time he’d heard that specific word.
yuuji groaned, head in hands, sounding clearly frustrated. he murmured something along the lines of “this is not happening right now” and “i did not sign up for this” before he made eye contact with his brother once more.
“you’re aroused. some hormone stuff, i don’t know man. some times you just wake up with a morning wood”, yuuji explained and something inside choso clicked into place.
oh.
oh.
“oh…” heat rushed into the raven’s head in the speed of light, tinting his cheeks and ears in a bright red. the mark on his face began dripping with blood slowly but he barely noticed it, eyes still holding onto yuuji who was now looking at his face with raised brows.
when he was still in his original body, choso rarely felt aroused. and even when he did, he never did more than shoving his hand into his undergarments to carefully feel the tips of his fingers against the wetness between his legs.
“what- what do i do now? does it go away on its own?” he didn’t know why he was whispering, probably because the embarrassment inside him was overwhelming his usual stern self with an immense power. he saw yuuji swallow heavily: “rub it out. take a cold shower. think about gross things.”
choso scrunched his nose unconsciously, the last two options didn’t sound too appealing — showering wasn’t even an option since running water was rare in the current state of shibuya — and “rub it out” didn’t help him further. what was he supposed to rub, his penis? and what was “it”?
“what if i just… go back to sleep?”, he asked before lowering his gaze to look at the situation. the boy sighed in defeat: “it’ll start to hurt if it doesn’t go down on its own.” choso hummed and slowly raised his hand to poke the side of it.
“feels weird, i don’t know, brother”, the half-cursed one stated, lips curled up in discomfort. when he raised his head again, yuuji was massaging the bride of his nose.
“oh my god”, the boy whispered, probably to himself, “wrap your whole hand around it. move it up and down slowly.” choso let out a loud breath through his nose before doing as told. it felt… good? and very warm. he wasn’t sure. it was different, odd to say the least.
“i feel stupid”, he announced and let go, hand clasping and unclasping a few times midair.
yuuji was about to lose it.
he sighed, loud and a bit too exaggerated. the ravenette watched in awe as yuuji sat up on his knees and undid his pants before taking them off completely. then he discarded his boxers, threw them to the side unceremoniously. he changed from kneeling to sitting crisscrossed, mirroring choso’s position.
“if we’re doing already anyways…”, the boy muttered, apparently still talking to himself as if he was grounding his own turbulent thoughts. he caught choso’s eyes staring at his half-hard dick and forced the embarrassment down his throat.
yuuji gathered some saliva in his mouth before spitting in his open hand, earning him a surprise gasp. choso felt stupid? yuuji wanted to bark out in laughter. no, he felt stupid. he was teaching a centuries old being how to masturbate. and as if that wasn’t weird enough, said being also claimed to be his brother by blood.
he leaned back on his dry hand and gave himself a few sloppy rubs with the other. the boy grit his teeth and watched himself get harder by the second before pulling away when he felt his spit dry. he hadn’t had the privacy nor the urge to get himself off since everything went to shit weeks ago — guess he had to thank choso for the opportunity later.
“okay, now do what i did”, he told the raven and watched as he reluctantly spit into his hand. choso’s dark eyes lingered on yuuji’s dick for a few seconds before wrapping his hand around it.
yuuji yelled in surprise, grabbing the half-curse’s biceps with shattering force. choso stared at him, panicked again: “did i hurt you, brother?” the boy could hear sukuna’s blaring laughter inside his head, clearly incredibly amused by their little thing and yuuji wanted nothing more than having his heart ripped out — again.
“fuck, choso- no, no, you’re not supposed to get me off, oh my god!”, yuuji noted how pale the raven’s skin looked in contrast to his’, “and don’t call me ‘brother’, you literally have your hand around my dick!” yuuji did a really good job at teaching choso new vocab.
“my bad”, the half-curse apologised in a low voice before letting go. yuuji could feel choso’s spit cool on his sensitive skin and he brought his hand back to himself, not wanting the improvised lubricant go to waste. biting back a moan he looked up at the raven once again: “c’mon, try it.”
choso spit into his palm once more and tried imitating his brother’s movements. the added slickness helped the glide of his hand as he worked on himself in a slower pace than yuuji. he gasped, caught off guard by how nice it felt, and he almost missed the sly smirk dancing on yuuji’s lips.
“feels- feels good”, choso mumbled, craning his neck to let his head roll back. the boy hummed in agreement, letting out small sounds that stirred something deep inside choso’s stomach. he could get used to this, he thought to himself.
his mind shortly drifted to “what if he tried sating those needs when he still had his actual body?” but that was quickly thrown overboard when yuuji cursed sharply under his breath.
“wish we had lube”, the pink-haired whimpered and choso actually felt a bit proud when he understood what his brother meant. he leaned his head forward again and brought his free hand up between the two. he slowly drew some blood up and began coating both their dicks in the warm fluid, making them both moan at the feeling of it.
yuuji let out a dragged out “fuck” and his thighs began to tremble subtly. he pondered on asking if choso also had a porn magazine somewhere stashed in his obi, but ultimately decided against it because he had a hunch the raven would not understand the joke.
choso let his gaze wander to the boy’s face — to those hooded honey eyes which seemed to glow in the dimmed light — and felt the need to seem them more up close. he’d always thought how pure the color was, a stark comparison to his whole being, and how insanely delicate they looked in comparison to yuuji’s self.
“closer”, he muttered without realising and yuuji didn’t understand what he meant, thinking he was close to coming. but when choso suddenly grabbed his body, and their dicks bumped into each other when he found himself sitting on the half-curse’s lap, a startled yell echoed through the hallway, swallowed by the carpet.
choso let the blood from his mark drip down and wrapped his hand around the both of them. yuuji was too overwhelmed — with the new found and strange warmth against his twitching dick — and immediately swallowed the complains that had already formed on the tip of his tongue.
he steadied himself with his arms around choso’s neck, smearing blood onto porcelain skin, and just stared at the obscenity in his lap. he barely noticed when the raven rested their foreheads together, their sweat and breaths mixing with the now hot air around them. choso’s other hand was gripping his waist like a lifeline, fingers dipping into the soft skin underneath his uniform.
“fuck”, yuuji managed between moans and gasps when the other started thrusting his hips upwards, adding even more friction. the boy quickly followed suit and a guttural groan ripped through choso’s throat. the half-cursed had never experienced such amounts of pleasure and something about experiencing this for the first time with his little brother had this entire mind running in loops.
the knot in his lower body was untying itself with every thrust, every breath, every moan and gasp; the tenseness inside him was becoming undone in such a beautiful way, it robbed him of all his air.
“choso, choso”, yuuji began chanting and the man joined in, the name of his little brother sounding like a beautiful curse the more he said it.
pressure exploded in a way that should be illegal when the boy suddenly started spasming on his lap, a drawn out “choso” coming from deep within yuuji’s throat, and white ribbons painted both their stomachs and choso’s hand. it mixed in slowly with the blood as the raven continued stroking them leisurely, sending waves over waves of pleasure over both of them. they crashed into their minds, shattering any coherent thoughts they might’ve still harboured throughout the ordeal.
choso eventually stopped and carefully released their now softening dicks, trying to take deep breaths to calm his hammering heart. yuuji did the same and let the raven rest his head against his shoulder.
“shit”, the boy managed after a few minutes and then laughed, “that was really good.” choso could only hum, content to bask in his brother’s warmth.
