so you’re telling me you DON’T wanna be a buff baddie woman that's super hot and could get any guy you want except you don't want them you want the traumatized girl from your complicated past who had a villain arc but then she redeems herself by saving your friend and gets herself brainwashed in the process but then you save her and she joins the good guys and you slowly grow closer and catch feelings while you build up to the final battle with the main villain but ofc your plan to defeat him goes wrong and your bratty sassy childhood friend/ex-enemy rushes to save you and at the last moment she proclaims her lifelong love for you and you kiss and defeat the bad guy with the power of gay love

i get critiquing plot holes and power differences/disadvantages and systemic things like sexism and sexualization/fetishization and racism in manga and stories in general, and i also understand loving your favorite character and wanting a certain outcome for them, but it's always a little bonkers to me that people geniuenly believe they could have come up with better endings or outcomes than the authors themselves... like i know people get attached to their favs and everything but manga and story telling is an artform and it's art that's created by a real life person who chooses to share their story with you there is no "better" ending that you could have come up with because you couldn't have come up with those characters in the first place! sure you think you could worm them around in better scenarios but even that is wishful thinking because you couldn't have, wouldn't have, and didn't come up with the world and scenes around them to navigate them in canon in the first place! idk i get wishful thinking and hopes and cracking jokes and fix-it fics and ships all that but sometimes i feel like people need to be humble and take a step back lol.... it's not your story and there's nothing for you to change, much less publicly scream about how the author fucked up just bc your favorite character didnt end up how you wanted them to.... and if u feel that strongly just like... do it in your own little online or irl community lol there's no need to scream on the internet every 3 months about how u think the mangaka who gave u the character u love so much is a piss poor artist

That scene in “Rules of Engagement” where Ben tries to talk to Julie again while she’s trying to leave with her new replacement boyfriend lives in my head because like despite it being a lost cause, he still tries to say he “promises to always put her first” and that “he can change.” Like, honey no, there are some things you can’t change. You don’t need to be in a relationship that constantly demands that you change. And if that doesn’t work for her, that doesn’t make you bad.

in gin rummy you collect cards that match in sets of three, and discard ones that don't match in exchange for new ones, including any card ditched by the other player on their last turn

Sonny discards a king. Unfortunately, that was the last card the other player needed to match with his two kings and call "gin"

Sonny did have another king, and based on his partner's reaction they were also waiting on a third king only to find the other guy had them all along

Sonny's last minute decision cost him the game, but waiting it out for that card could also have cost him the game since both players were equally matched

this fits the episode's theme: is it better to let a criminal kill me or another cop, or should I face the consequences of killing a citizen?

ultimately, there is no winning strategy
