I can’t believe I left this post sitting in my drafts for 4 years because I honestly got really excited seeing this. When I was a kid we had this EXACT COMPUTER, ridiculous garage door (as we called it) and all. And I loved it and I miss it and I wish I still had it. I was too young to know at the time that you didn’t have to get a brand new computer, you could just gut out the current one and keep the case. I miss my silly little garage door. It was pure swag just for the sake of it. Honestly it makes me super happy that this gif exists and that I came across it, because even if I can’t still have the tower itself I’m happy just being able to SEE it again and to see its silly little flex of having a door that opens.

An IBM Aptiva with a SHIELD as shown at the Winter 1996 CES show. Reminds me of those slow-opening cassette tape decks from home stereos past. How pointless yet obscenely cool!
