I'm honestly just looking to rant and this might be long depending on how fast I get irritated the more I type so if this isn't coherent or well written I apologize in advance. Since it looks like Ambessa will take on a more antagonistic role in arcane season two, I would like to unpack the fandom's antiblackness that you guys are either blind to or aware and too pussy to call it out as my gut is telling me it's gonna increase and if no one is gonna start the difficult conversation then I sure as hell will.

Mel:

Starting off strong with the definition of "you guys want complex female characters but can't even handle her". Mel Medarda is in quite the predicament seeing how she's morally grey, a black woman, AND "gets in the way" of a mlm ship so she was kinda screwed from the start. A cunning politician disowned for her pacifism who acts as a sort of bridge to Noxus' slow introduction, and is THE ONLY CHARACTER IN THE SEASON 1 MAIN CAST SPECIFICALLY CREATED FOR THE SHOW. She's treated like satan incarnate or a Jezebel (highly suggest looking into that if you don't know what that is), GOOD character analysis is rare, and when she is talked about positively, it's so often chalked up to appearances that I'd rather yall not talk about her at all. Oh you love Mel? Then can we talk about her relationship with her mother? Unpack her dynamic with Jayce? Maybe more fanworks centered around her? I've seen yall's fake asses dropping the shittiest fucking takes about her only to turn around and gush over how pretty she is, and yall think you're slick about it and you're not. I would say I prefer the ones who are loud and proud about their hatred but that'd be a lie, they're two cheeks on the same ass; annoying and couldn't give a decent break down of her character if a gun was pointed at they head even she's perfect to dissect. I could talk about her more but we'd be here all day and so many black women even from outside the fanbase have already talked about yall so there's no need for me to add on 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️.

Quick question, have you guys ever tried to talk about her in a non sexual way? Yes, Sevika is undeniably sexy and you could argue that true stans of hers talk about her outside of horny time, but a good half of the fandom is a different story. In a similar case to Mel's, deep dives into her character are rare to find which is crazy when she acts as Zaun's own "kingmaker". She's loyal to her city and the cause, never to a specific person and will not hesitate to betray you. She could be your right hand man one day, and the next she might find a better kingpin to follow and stab you in the back like it all meant nothing. "Were you tempted?" "Not for a worm like him". Simple and subtle and probably my favorite Sevika scene; she comes to realize Silco is no longer the best leader for Zaun, but he's as good as it gets for now and so she sticks by him. I remember a YouTube comment breaking down how she's essentially the quintessential Zaun: a brute warrior molded by her environment, who defied Vander's peaceful ways and embraced Silco's cruelty. Her mindset and goal is interesting and you'd think it'd result in some fascinating meta or exploration of her upbringing when we got a hint that she potentially has some daddy issues right? Obviously, but what do we get instead? White sapphics treating her like nothing more than a sexual object. How delightful!

Ekko:

This might partially be Riot's fault because — and I hate to sound like a league lore nerd — Ekko is quite underdeveloped compared to the richer origins of his former pre arcane self, but I'm gonna hold off on that till the season finale to see how they handle him. Anyways, at this point the fandom clearly sees him as Jinx's trophy husband. When you talk about him, she is brought into the convo 90% of the time. That's exactly why I prefer black timebomb shippers over the nonblack ones because I trust they actually love Ekko as a character on his own. Even though I have my complaints regarding how's been written so far, I still know he's too good to be reduced to Jinx's loverboy. He fights and cares for his city, the only character that you can confidently say is pure of heart, and is the revolutionary leader Zaun really needs. He's just as smart as Jinx too, he is literally going to create TIME TRAVEL. Why does no one wanna talk about that? Can we be excited for his character development and arc not just for the timebomb scenes you'll get out of it?

Ambessa:

Can't even deny this woman is awful but her presence on screen enthralled me after a couple of rewatches and I also love bad mothers in media so I've settled on a love/hate relationship. Yes, she's definitely gonna have some influence on Caitlyn, which makes sense since she has now lost her mother; she's vulnerable and as we have seen, naive. She's practically free real estate for Ambessa. My recent worry though has been how the fandom seems to be willing to put all of Caitlyn's actions on her as if Cait isn't a grown ass woman who can make her own decisions. Of course being grown doesn't mean you're immune to manipulation, but I've seen some Silco and Jinx comparisons and it is NOT the same. Mind you we haven't even seen the first three episodes; we don't know how far Ambessa's manipulation is going to go and we can't really tell what the dynamic is gonna be like based off of clips and trailers that are likely shown out of context on purpose to throw people off. I'll never defend her actions, hell I'll join in on the lashings, but my black ass is also not gonna sit here and let yall talk about her weirdly or pin all of this on her.

Some might say I'm overthinking this, but I've been here since November 2021 and have sat back and observed for 2 years. You don't have to write deep, philosophical conversations 24/7, I'm sure it's not all in bad faith and I won't act like I don't thirst over Sevika or marvel at Mel's beauty. I'm not saying you have to like these characters and that you're racist if you don't. My frustration comes from the lack of nuanced conversations and hypocritical opinions surrounding black characters in this show. When you try to say something about this, you're hit with excuses; it reminds me of how man obsessed fujoshis act when they're questioned for not giving two fucks about female characters. They're either reduced to one character trait, only admired for their looks, or only discussed when it's about the white character they're connected to. Do NOT under ANY circumstance be black and morally ambiguous, you WILL be held to higher moral standards than everyone's wittle blorbos who can do wrong and are defended from all sides when you dare to take the rose colored stan glasses off and criticize them. What's really ridiculous is you hear the "complex characters" bullshit every two to three business days and some of you have the nerve to boast about this series being diverse while simultaneously ignoring the complexities in the characters of color. This is the main reason I took a step back and with season two around the corner I thought "Hey, maybe it'll be better this time!" and it was a mistake. Good to know yall still have an underlying racism problem you don't wanna address but with some extra classism thrown in. "What will we do once Arcane ends?" hopefully get a job, touch some grass, and reflect. Lord knows yall need it. The faster yall sizzle out the better. ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ Player 450

The robotic voice order, with your scope you looked for the poor soul, shooting without a second thought. When looking at the rest of the players, a familiar face was recognized by your orbs.

You knew that profile like the palm of your hand, you’ve spent way too many hours looking at it that it was burnt into your memory like your life depended on it. You had to be dreaming, licking your lips after a shaky sigh made the only sound in the small room you focused again on the woman. The number 120 was distinguishable on the back of her sweater as you made sure to memorize it, she was covering people behind her and a small sour smile painted on your lips, Hyunju didn’t change.

Your mind couldn’t concentrate anymore, what was she doing there? You’ve asked her time to get the money she needed, did you take too long? Did the salesman find her after you left? You were sure that was the case, if you knew she had been invited you’d done everything in your power to stop her from participating. A last gunshot was heard, you were quick to look over your scope; your heart stopped for a moment when you saw blood staining Hyunju’s face, but when your eyes concentrated on her and the kill was confirmed to be another player, you allowed yourself to relax a little bit.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ Soldiers who have completed your mission, please line up outside the sniper rooms.

As if your own hearts were able to feel the presence of the other blindly, while you were putting away the gun given to you, your body began to tremble just like Hyunju was down at the play arena. Both scared for the woman’s life now, you didn’t know what to do moving forward.

You thought back to when the Masked Officer had recruited you offering a generous sum of money that could solve all your problems if you did a couple of tasks and your first thought was your girlfriend, on the future that could be forged for the two of you after receiving the money, you had imagined the two of you living a quiet life in Thailand as per request from Hyunju, you didn’t care what the job could be about or if it meant blotch your hands in blood. You’ve done it before, you were a very well trained defense guard who was struggling to find a stable job, most people didn’t care about your time in the korean military force or if you were one of the best snipers from your battalion they all ‘needed a man for the job’. You couldn’t rely on Hyunju either as she had been facing unemployment too for quite some time now, you had reassured her that you’d take care of the bills however you could.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I’ll go back to being a guard for clubs if I have to,” you said to the woman while preparing dinner, a small sigh was heard from her that made you turn. You walked over to where she was sitting and took her face in your warm hands thanks to the fire of the stove. “It’s okay, Hyune, I got this. We’ll make it out of here, trust me.”

One of her hands looked to rest on your wrist, a sad grimace painted on her face. “You shouldn’t have to do this alone. I should be able to help you, to help myself… I want to contribute too.”

‍Your lips left a small kiss on her forehead. “We’ll be fine, my love, I promise.”

The mere memory made your heart ache with anguish, you had to get her out of there, you had to make sure she wins these games. You had to… You had to let her know you were there, didn't you? Maybe in that way she could feel more protected… Or maybe she would hate you for being there, maybe she’d break up with you, call you a monster, question how could you do that to innocent people?

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hey, twenty-three, can you believe what eleven is doing?” a distorted voice asked behind you.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Couldn’t care less,” you said back, your voice sounded completely different too. After leaving the briefcase you were carrying back into place and taking a different gun you walked over the entrance. “I’m not part of the business and I don’t care what happens with it, I told you.”

‘I have more important things to worry about’ you thought to yourself while following one of the square soldiers and accommodating the strap of the gun on your shoulders.

You saw all the players grouped at the back of the big bedroom, you thanked the gods you were wearing a mask as your eyes looked desperately for Hyunju while the soldier was speaking, you didn’t care what was being discussed at all. Even when the so famous player 456 was talking you couldn’t force yourself to pay attention until a specific line that came from his mouth caught your thoughts.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Let us take our vote right now.” your eyes looked at the man with hope, your heart filled with gratitude, at least someone was sane enough.

Without turning your head upwards, you saw the prize being announced and a sigh left your mouth, your full attention was now on the room and each player as well as your superior.

You were asked to be beside the podium, you walked a little too quick for your taste. You positioned yourself while looking forward at each player and counting on your head the x’s, hoping they would win. And then Hyunju was called over, when you noticed your hands shaking you held tighter to your gun, you noticed she doubted for a second and then voted the circle. Your eyes shut and a shaky breath came out your mouth, you had to stay composed, you couldn’t break down there.

And when the circles won the poll, the players were told they needed to rest and feast for tomorrow’s games. The group walked out leaving a couple of triangles and the circle soldiers who were handing the food. After being instructed to leave for the night, you walked over to your small room and allowed yourself to break down once the door closed behind you. Leaning against the door you let your tears roll down on your face, how could life be so cruel to you? You just wanted to make your girlfriend happy and now she was condemned to die on an island away from home, you wouldn’t be able to even take her home with you.

No, you couldn’t think like that, you wouldn’t release that energy into the universe, you had to take care of her now. It didn’t matter if it cost you your own life, you would ensure Hyunju won the games. You would be like a hawk, watching over her as much as you could. The officer was more than pleased to see you ask for more responsibility, you tried to be where the players were at all times. Behind the triangle mask you were constantly watching Hyunju, following her discreetly on the six-legs game arena and cursing people who looked at her bad under your breath. You found yourself almost celebrating your girlfriend’s win with her group, thankfully you stopped before. After seeing Hyunju win, hope began to occupy your heart fully, convincing yourself there was a chance she could win this games, that she would be free.

At night you stayed to cover for a little, after all, you weren’t that sleepy now. Leaning your back on the wall you saw your colleague deny a permission to go to the bathroom and at first you weren’t against it, you knew the rules too, but when the older woman began to ramble about her bladder issues, you stood up again.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I got this, I’ll take them.” you said to your company before they opened the door, a small thank you was said from the other guard.

When the door was opened and you saw the woman smile a giggle almost escaped your mouth, but any trace of a smile faded when Hyunju let herself show asking to go too. Your breath got stuck on your lungs as you watched closer now, forcing yourself to guide them to the bathroom, that was your time, you had to talk to her now.

You stayed outside for a few minutes to allow them to do their business and after a couple of minutes you turned to look everywhere hoping not to see anyone approaching, you knew the bathrooms didn’t have cameras so you took advantage of it to walk in.

Hyunju was watching her own reflection, it made your heart pound hard against your chest, she was as beautiful as ever. Brown eyes turned to look at you with a confused frown on her.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Do we need to-” she began to speak, being interrupted by your distorted voice.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “At ease, sergeant.” you said making her freeze on the spot, blinking a couple of times, she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

You two had met back when she was in the military forces, before she came out as the Hyunju you’ve been loving for some time now. At first you were just really good friends, but as time passed you couldn’t help falling in love with each other. You were there for her at every step, inviting her to live with you when everything was just going from bad to worse for her, losing her job, gaining debts one after the other, having everyone turn on her… But you, oh you were her rock, her place to rest from the crude world and now there you were, in a pink suit with that horrible symbol on your face that has been taunting her dreams for the last couple of nights.

Your name fell from her lips on a small whisper that could almost go unnoticed if you weren’t paying your full attention to her, you released your gun and took the mask from your face, tears wetting your cheeks and she held the bathroom sink tighter under her hands.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hyunju…” you whispered back, breathing in deep to calm yourself.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What are you doing here?” the two of you asked at the same time, she shook her head. “You shouldn’t be here, you shouldn’t be in that suit… What are you doing?”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Trying to get the money to flee this shitty place.” you answered, taking a step towards her that she took back. “Hyunju, please.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Why would you accept to do this?” she asked now, you bit your lower lip for a moment.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Because I want you to be happy, I want us to start from zero, to have the life we deserve.” you started to answer, walking slowly her way to not scare her away. “We deserve to be happy, don’t you think, my love?”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You shouldn’t have come here, you shouldn’t have accepted it, we shouldn’t be here.” she began to speak a little faster and when you let your hands rest on her face she looked directly into your eyes.

Warm hands thanks to the gloves you were required to use made her feel at ease, made her feel like home. Troubled eyes were looking at each other, but you can sense the love and strong connection in them. Even in such a dangerous place with death itself roaming in every room, the love Hyunju and you shared had such power that could make any other emotion drown.

A silent discussion was held and not even a second later, your lips met each other with such hunger like you’ve been starving for so long, like you were far from the other for years. Without distancing from Hyunju you pushed the gun to your back so you could get as close as humanly possible with her, your right hand pulled her closer by the neck making Hyunju whimper for a small second, you smiled over her lips.

Aching hands looked to sneak under her shirt while her own hands clumsily tried to undo your suit, it was the sound of a flushing toilet that made the both of you jump and stopped grudgingly. Hungry eyes just looked at her as she was composing herself, Hyunju left a small sigh sound before looking again your way.

 ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We have to get out of here,” she whispered, now Hyunju was the one holding your face in her own hands, you closed your eyes for a moment. “The two of us, safe and sound.”

 ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You need to win the games.” you said back, opening your eyes again. “Do you remember our signal?”

Hyunju thought for a moment before taking away one of her hands to show you the sign you two had come up with back in your military days, you giggled and nodded.

 ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I’ll be in every game watching over you, okay? When you see a guard doing it, know it’s me.” you whispered, she nodded too and stole another kiss from you. “We need to go back before the other guard comes to check, tell them, I’ll wait outside.”

The woman nodded again and as you were rearranging your suit, Hyunju pulled you in for a last kiss making you giggle like a teenager, almost giving in, but lastly stepping away and pulling your mask back on. You didn’t know how you’d make her win, but you had to go back home with her alive, you’ll figure it out in the way, but for now the only thing you could do was protect her.

He's so possessive and protective of you. To the point where you can't go anywhere without guards who are loyal to him, due to his paranoia. Aemond would prefer to be your guard all the time, but alas he is unfortunately a very busy man so he has to trust the guards

When you are forced to do parties or appear in public Aemond is always around you or watching you, his eye never really leaves your figure. He always has his hands over you either on your lower back, guiding you where he wants, or on your waist. To remind you who you belong to.

Heleana and Alicent are the only one who he lets be around you when he is gone to keep you company, his brother Aegon? AH. No. Maybe Daeron, but Aegon absolutely not. Why would you want to spend time with a drunken fool?

In truth he is insanely jealous about everything and everyone, including his own family. He trusts his sister and mother to not pry too much into your relationship, and in fact his mother is more of an enabler for him. She is just so glad her son finally found someone he loves and cares about, so that he isn't alone anymore. How could she deny him such happiness?

Will try to get the two of you married instant. As soon as he saw you Aemond knew he had to marry you, it doesn't matter if you are highborn or not to him. Much to his mother and grandsire's displeasure of course

Once you are married of course he's gonna make you pregnant if possible. You wouldn't try to get away from him with a child on its way no? When he has endless ways of helping you with a babe, both during the pregnancy, the birth, and the years to come. Why have it the hard way when you can live a life of luxury?

Talking about a life of luxury, Aemond will give you anything you might need and more to keep you compliant. However, some things are not negotiable like for example what you wear: its either green or sapphire blue, no other clothes are tolerated for him. If you want to be more transgressive you can wear something outside of that, though the consequences...

He's so manipulative and wouldn't care to bring the situation in his favour, and would absolutely use your own emotion against you. "If you are hurt imagine how I feel" and stuff like that is often said when you two are fighting often over nothing, if not directly about Aemond's way of treating you.

You think it's unfair, Aemond thinks you don't understand how he feels. There is a war coming and he won't always be there protecting you since he will be on the battlefield. Its only fair that he fears for your safety, no? What kind of husband would he be otherwise?

☠︎︎• My guesses are that you were introduced to Feyd-Rautha as either a pretty young Bene Gesserit girl chosen to weave her way into his life to continue the bloodline, or he liked the look of you when he was off-world in one instance to look over Spice production with his uncle, and took you back as a trophy because he liked the look of you. So lucky you. 🙃

☠︎︎• This boy is an absolute sadist and an unpredictable unhinged mess, so there's a lot to get used to, and even when you do get used to things, it could all flip and spin just as quickly. It would take a hell of a time to truly understand Feyd-Rautha enough to predict him one hundred per cent and longer to have his trust that you won't run off or try betraying him.

☠︎︎• There's definitely a kind of dangerous allure to him that he uses to his advantage, a smug grin on his face when he enters the arenas, most likely to make kills in your name. It wouldn't be a massive surprise if you became some figure in Giedi Prime to sacrifice the dead to, like some kind of goddess of the kill (ik that sounds dramatic as hell, but i see it happening .-.)

☠︎︎• Feyd-Rautha is absolutely not used to the concept of looking out for anyone other than himself, or feeling anything close to respect and love for anyone other than himself. So the relationship he forces between you and him is a shaky and slow-burning bond that works in its own weird ways and quirks, and adapts to him and him only, so there are a lot of adjustments to be made on your end. Because even though Feyd isn't sensitive in the general sense, he's majorly unpredictable, and one wrong word could set him off. Just, tread carefully in the early days.

☠︎︎• If you want affection in any other way than corpses and bruising hickies, it may take a little while, because he has no idea how to pull that kind of gentleness off, and doesn't necessarily want to either. But if it's something that'll get you to submit to his hold over you more, then he'll come round to it, and when there's absolutely no one else in the area, you might get some actual, genuine passion, though there's always a part of it mixed in with some darker conflict in him.

☠︎︎• If you want attention from him, you've got it anyway. Feyd has his own form of attachment, pretty much an obsession, but it's always tangled in with his desire to dominate and possess. It's a suffocating relationship and tipped-scales dynamic, and the only way you can really get him to see your side of things is by wording it in ways that'll make it sound like it was his idea in the first place, and that the reason is because it'll feel better for him.

☠︎︎• Needless to say, if you're a little firmer and have a dark side to you (i'll make a safe bet that you do if you want this guy x_x) this Harkonnen is a thrill seeker to the extreme, someone always looking to feel something new and raw and insatiable, like the sharpest peaks of ecstasy and adrenaline, so will he try out new stuff with you even though it sounds mental and freaky and dangerous? That's a rhetorical question.

☠︎︎• Despite all the bloodshed and his ruthless havoc in the arenas, taking lives and living for the pain of it, believe it or not, Feyd is actually vulnerable in the least suspecting way. He doesn't have an emotional connection with anyone, because he's an unhinged psycho amongst a crowd of pale unhinged psychos who expect nothing less (and.. have you watched the film?? It's confirmed that this dude has mummy issues, so... i'm just saying, look at this hc's front gif 😏)

☠︎︎• If we're talking romance and affection, just think intense. Intense intense intense, because that's the best way to describe it. His hugs are breathtakingly tight and forcefully smothering, and he doesn't kiss, he full-on makes out with you. Public or not doesn't matter, it's just an opportunity to mark you as his in front of an audience, and he'll gladly perform, so suck up your shyness.

Maybe his dearest darling, because you're higher than the pets he feeds and used before you (apparently they're called harpies??!? idk what the heck lol) I don't see him saying my love or honey unless he's just being a jackass in an argument, because I'm betting my life savings this boy only eats bitter things, and he sure as hell can't define love like you can.

☠︎︎• Feyd comes across as pretty dominant in everything he does, which is right, and even if it's you questioning him, he'll throw a dangerous fit that escalates within a second no one sees, so, again you have to be clever with the way you word things. You physically and mentally cannot be independent with Feyd-Rautha, because he'll break that spirit right out of your soul. Would he physically hurt you? Not badly, no, but just don't push him, because he'll lash out without a second thought in the moment of impulse.

☠︎︎• Again with the independence, another thing that stops you from getting any is how absolutely suffocatingly obsessive he can get, which turns on his possessiveness. You're essentially an extension of himself, something that's peaceful and pure and perfect in so many ways he'll never understand and will always pull your mind apart to try to. So if any other skulking Harkonnen looking to impress you by challenging Feyd himself or devoting a kill in the arena to you, has immediately chosen the slowest, most humiliating death, that you'll probably be tied down to watch -_-

☠︎︎• And if he can tell in even the smallest way that you're drawn to someone aside from him, there's a chance you'll be kept locked up in his chambers for a month or two with no servants, nothing breathing at all permitted to trespass except him, until he's satisfied and you have him wrapped around your finger again. And that means you can get him to do practically anything if it benefits him and draws you closer, like a kill.. to maybe even destroying a whole planet, it's not impossible for him. Once he has his mind set on something, he's a hunter, he's found his target, and he'll go wild until he destroys it.

☠︎︎• He's protective in the way that he will not let you die, or get hurt in any way by any person other than him. If another Harkonnen draws your blood in the tiniest scratch, or hurts your feelings in some way, Feyd will use that as an excuse to wring their necks. You're his to look at and admire and dress up and be close to and make you feel things, so anyone else daring to step up beside you will get knocked down and fed to his darlings. The only time you'll actually see him being doting and surprisingly, cautiously gentle is when he's healing a wound without the audience of any nurses or outside help, an uncharacteristic and uncomfortable silence in the air as he concentrates and gets you back to rights.

☠︎︎• The moments where he'll allow himself to be truly close to you go unspoken, like in the cold hard nights of Geidi Prime, where he pulls you up from your bed and tugs you down the short dark corridor to dump you in his own instead, with nothing else but the need to feel smotheringly close to someone who understands how his mind works. You'll remind him of his mother, and that's all good, so long as you stay by him and with him always, because if you take the opportunity to turn and run, don't let him catch you in the act. Do you watch any Korean dramas? You pulled me into several fandoms so I generally trust your taste in TV.

I've been trying to learn Korean, but Duolingo only has like four voices and I'm at the point where it's been recommended that I start watching kdramas.

I'm not far along enough to understand anything they'll be saying, but subtitle translation exists and it would be nice to get used to the sound of the language spoken by actual speakers.

I don't trust my own ability to find a kdrama I'd like, on account of every TV show I've gone hmm I wonder if I'll like that? I've hated.

my favorite is absolutely hands down mr. queen. that show was made in a lab for meeee. gender fuckery, politics, identity porn my beloved. really fantastically written women. just wonderful

goblin was the first kdrama that really pulled me in. really wonderful fantastic characters who all have such great chemistry with one another. really hilarious when it's not breaking your heart. also once again identity porn my beloved

crash landing into you is very good but you've gotta just. disassociate from the north korea of it all. and accept that the north korea of it all makes it so stunningly unrealistic, even for a kdrama (in my personal opinion). but the main couple has incredible chemistry and the support cast is hilarious

hotel del luna is also a fave but it's pushed forward almost entirely by the amazing presence and acting of chemistry of IU alone. not that the rest of the cast isn't good and interesting, it's just that she's such a standout and really what makes it worth watching. i love a complicated woman

under the queen's umbrella is famously historically inaccurate (the whole premise of the plot makes no sense and would never happen) but it's really sweet, well acted, and! had such a wonderful and compassionate depiction of a trans woman struggling to be herself in old timey korea, which was pleasant surprise

kingom is a very good, well plotted zombie show. phenomenal acting, great story, but not enough in the way of interpersonal relationships in my personal opinion

business proposal is a classic, cute take on a trope done a million times but done very well. great chemistry, so cute, probably the one out of all my recs that's really just cute fluff. the side couple is also really cute with great chemistry, enough that you're rooting for them just as much as the main, which rarely happens. also, again, identity porn my beloved

Do I even have to explain? At this point, you could basically write an entire encyclopedia only using the stuff this man is into - he knows it all and wants to try it all. The thing is, whether he trusts you enough or not, because if he's too shy to bring up the one thing that's on his mind, he'll bombard you with hints, hoping he'd "manipulate" you into mentioning it first. Not that he'd ever do anything you're not 100% comfortable with, but he'd much rather you be the one who asks. He'd slap your ass, bite it, mark it, grope it, eat your pussy from behind and send you porn links - all while hoping you'd finally get the idea and ask him to eat your ass. Because he's shy like that. But once you do catch on and tell him about it, he's all in. 

And then, as he grows more comfortable around you, all these little games you two play will slowly start to shift. His main priority will always be you, but with time, his teasing nature will replace the old Minho you used to have sex with, and literally everything this man does will be about driving you insane.

To be fair, it might be because he had to go through the "Watch your mouth, there's a child in our grup!" phase, which - cute and all, got old very fast. Maybe this side of him would have never surfaced like this, but you can't possibly know, there's only one Jeongin and he's a meanie. He's stern, he's serious and there's only one way, his. 

He takes the safe word very seriously because otherwise, he doesn't take no for an answer. There's no "too much", "too hard", "too fast". He doesn't care. He knows you can take it and you have to. 

You don't move, he moves you. If you don't shut up when he tells you to, it's 'ass up, face down into the pillow' - no questions, no warnings. 

It all starts nicely, though. His good little girl, his angel, who needs to do absolutely everything she's told otherwise his punishments will be downright cruel and you'll be nothing more than a "dumb, fucking whore" until he's done with you. 

One thing that makes him draw the line though, is crying. He loves to see little tears at the corner of your eyes as he fucks you into oblivion, just so he can mock you for it, "Oh, is my sweet, little baby crying?" and then go faster. But if you let out anything more than a cute, little sob, or if you start actually crying, even though you're still down to keep going, he won't. He can't. He's cruel, but not that cruel, it hurts his heart to see you like that and absolutely never lets things get that far.

3. Felix

This man is into… everything. His eyes light up every single time there's something new for you two to try, and he puts his whole soul into it. 

On one hand, he's into the basics - he goes crazy for your tits, will lick, bite, suck and eat anything off of them (absolutely adores eating cream off your body, but yeah, your tits are his favorite spot). Probably one of the best doms out there because even though you have a safe word, he's so fucking careful with you at all times that he knows to slow down before you even have to think about using it. It only happened once, and your voice still rings in his head - he still hasn't forgiven himself for it.

But then again, as your relationship strengthens and he slowly realizes that maybe he doesn't always have to be the one to do it all, that others can take care of him too, that he can actually let loose and renounce all control, you start to see another side of him. 

He's an exemplary sub, not one brat bone in his body. He tries sometimes to test you, but he goes back to being doe eyed and whiny for you in no time. He's not as vocal and not as eager to let all his enthusiasm show, but just like Felix, he'll do absolutely anything you tell him, and then thank you for allowing him to do it. 

5. Han

Another switch. He can be a dom and he can be a sub, but I think there are two other sides of him. This man will go back and forth between being the absolute, most cocky motherf on the planet, to being absolutely wiped and wrapped around your finger. And while these for aspects of him can pair up in any way, leaving you with a teasing dom, a loving and soft one, or a bratty sub that will try to make you prove to him just how badly you need him to worship you and so on, I think he's not always like this.

You can't really tell whether there's a pattern, but maybe if you spent more time together you'd be able to spot one. Maybe it depends on how his day went, how tired he is, how his social batteries are like at the moment, but I think there are many, many days when this man just needs to feel you, to smell you, hear you. To collapse into the sheets with you, forget about the world and melt in your arms. Yeah, he's down to try a lot of stuff, but what he loves the most are the simple things. Like missionary late at night, with the lights on so he can see every glimmer of anything in your eyes, to wipe the sweat off your temples and to be able to smother you with kisses. Impromptu sex in the morning, lazy sex in the shower, cuddling that turns into you riding him on the couch while watching a movie. That's what I think he's into the most.

6. Changbin

Thank god this man is not the kinkiest because he'd probably break you in half and no amount of aftercare would be able to fix that. This man goes hard. No matter if you're the one that woke him up, all needy and clingy, or if he came home riled and ready to go, he's already ready to give you his all. That dumptruck isn't there for nothing, he doesn't even have to try that hard to make you scream. 

But it's not just physical, he goes all out in all ways. Does it ever hit you that because of Frank and Monica's emotional detachment, all of the Gallagher's seek out affection from romantic partners? But like to an almost obsessive degree.

Fiona's is obvious. She's hypersexual and falls in love easily. She will downplay her issues with Frank as something she's grown used to, but it's clear that it still affects her. She also does the same when it comes to Monica but I feel like her hostility towards other women comes from how she doesn't trust Monica, doesn't really trust herself, and sees those insecurities on other women. Ex: Her treatment of Mandy and distrust of her around Lip.

Lip is a classic case of a man dealing with his mommy issues by making it every woman's problem. He's hostile towards his romantic partners when they want a real commitment from him and he talks to women with so much disrespect that it's a wonder someone hasn't stomped his ass out yet. He's especially harsh towards his own sisters even though they've been the one's who have been there for him. He may hate Frank but he's noticeably giving and extremely forgiving towards men, even those he's only known for a short while. Almost like the story about the turtle was just as much about him hoping that he could fix Frank as it was about Frank crushing his hopes of a real father figure.

Ian being groomed is in no way his fault and is the fault of the creeps who pursued him. But I can't ignore the fact that Frank's abuse and neglect opened him up the further abuse he suffered at the hands of Kash and Ned. It's no coincidence that both Kash and Ned shower Ian with gifts and compliments about how impressive, smart, and mature he is.

Debbie 1. deals with comphet in the first few seasons, and 2. Feels ignored by her family so she tries to create her own family. Debbie is visibly the one most affected by Frank's issues and even when she for all intents and purposes gives up on him, it still affects her. Frank's hurtful words about her only finding love with someone "just as fucked up as she is" pushes her to put consider a dangerous situation with Heidi. She's also someone who struggles with control issues because she needs to help other people. She's a problem solver by nature. It's just that the two problems she wishes she could solve more than anything are out of her hands (Frank and Monica). She can't fix Frank's addiction, his selfishness, or his abusive tendencies. She can't fix Monica's wanderlust, her avoidance, or her aversion to long-term commitment.

Carl is so good at masking his emotions. It's easy to miss. But then you notice things like his attachment to Fiona, his absolute devotion to the girls he likes, and his need to protect. Carl is hypersexual, even though I've seen it rarely brought up in fandom, and longs for a long-term girlfriend. When he does get girlfriends he's all in from the beginning. When Carl loves someone he is all about them. He's so casual when it comes to talking about Frank and Monica, but that doesn't mean those feelings aren't there and they aren't affecting him.

Liam is still young so we don't get to see him in a relationship. He's the one Gallagher who's consistently treated like an actual kid. Probably the one who has the best chance at healthy emotional attachments. But then again, Fiona leaving most likely did a number on him and we weren't privy to what that looks like for him because the latter seasons forgot how to do long-term storytelling and emotional payoff. All we know is that he doesn't remember Monica, Frank being gone makes him an orphan and he's worried about where he's gonna live because Lip forgot that Liam was technically under Frank's care. We didn't get to see it, but I'd say Liam's first emotional crash is probably on the horizon.

I've been loving reading your metas (especially about Hinny, since I could never quite articulate why I thought they didn't work) and I was wondering: what do you think of the Mauraders friendship? To me it seems a bit baffling, but that could just be JKR's poor grasp of timelines and details.

But it seems that the Mauraders are a close friend group (like, you don't make the map and spend 3 years working on an illegal and potentially fatal Animagus transfiguration on a lark) that as soon as they graduate and join the Order they seem to fall apart. Which I can buy, given the high stress low trust environment they're in, but it seems weird that only Sirius and Remus suspect each other, and I don't think we know why? I could also be forgetting something.

I talked about the Mauraders as individuals a bit here, but their friendship is not as close-knit and happy as the fandom likes to think. I think their dynamic was always more complicated than that.

Like, what you have is James & Sirius who practically fell into friendship at first sight, and have always been the closest in the Marauders group. Remus and Peter were a little bit afterthought. I mean, in SMH, James and Sirius respect each other:

“If it bothers you,” he said, stuffing the Snitch back in his pocket. Harry had the distinct impression that Sirius was the only one for whom James would have stopped showing off.

[...]

“Well, I thought that paper was a piece of cake,” he heard Sirius say. “I’ll be surprised if I don’t get Outstanding on it at least.” “Me too,” said James.

But clearly, don't share that same respect for Remus, whose lycanthropy isn't taken seriously:

There is a reason in PoA everyone mentions James and Sirius in the same breath, but they don't mention Remus. There is a reason James and Sirius were: "you didn't see one without the other" and the other Marauders weren't brought up. They weren't as close.

Like, I know from what I've seen in my high school that teenagers' friendships can be really weird and not necessarily good friendships (adult friendships can be like that too, I just think it's easier to fall into in a school-like environment where you are together most of the day — especially in a boarding school, I mean, they shared a dormitory, hey were together 24/7 for 7 years, they kinda had to be friendly with each other). The Mauraders have an unequal dynamic; they aren't the picture of a perfect friend group.

Sirius and James lived together (with Lily) after graduating, but Remus and Peter didn't. It all follows the same pattern.

This friend group was built around James and his charisma. Sirius is probably more alright with Dark Magic than James was ("The world isn't divided into good people and Deat Eaters"), but I'd go on a limb and say he never told James that because just like Remus and Peter he was desperate to be liked by James (I think he saw James liking him as a sign of his goodness and not being like his family). The difference is, James saw Sirius as an equal and respected him in a way he didn't Remus and Peter. He liked them, he liked their attention, but I don't think he saw them as equals to himself and Sirius.

Sirius clearly didn't see Peter and Remus as the same as James. He is the one making fun of Peter more than the others. I think he didn't think Peter would betray them because he looks down on him. He thought Peter worships James too much to betray him (a little projection of his own sense of loyalty as well) — and he was wrong.

The friendship fell apart becouse it was built on sharing a dorm room and being silly together, not on real respect and connection (at least in the case of Remus and Peter. Peter liked being part of the group, Remus was glad to have friends at all, Sirius wanted to be everything his family wasn't, and James was just being himself and had fun). When I read Sirius and Remus' interactions in PoA and later, they always gave me a weird vibe. Like they are both desperate for a sense of normalcy and connection that they remembered from school, but are both completely different people than they were back then, and even then, they weren't as close as either of them was to James. They are both trying to replace James with the other. (If only more Wolfstar fics portrayed them like that and like they weren't that close in school, I might've been more into it)

To illustrate, I always saw their dynamic when at school as something like this:

James also suspected Remus, Remus never doubted Sirius was to blame when he was sent to Azkaban because this entire friend group was around James. And it was also a mess. So, it just makes sense. Sirius never really respected Remus as much as James and Remus knew that.

TL;DR, the Mauraders weren't that close-knit of a friend group as the Mauraders fandom likes to believe.

"Yes."

His response to Matsukawa caused the near entity of the VBC to sweatdrop, hopeless sighs escaping them as Kyōtani leaped into the air and smashed the ball with a resounding thud vibrating the floorboards underneath your feet.

It remained silent, your impressed gaze befalling an approaching Mad Dog who pushed the recovered ball into your chest with a grunt.

"Happy?"

"Very~" It was cheerful, radiant gratitude exuding from you causing a brilliant hue to appear on him - incoherent muttering trailed his retreating figure.

"Sorry about him, uh, I can take that if you want?" This player, the Ace if you recalled correctly, had a hand fall from the back of neck as he gestured to the volleyball with a sympathetic smirk.

"Oh right, I'm (L/n) (Y/n) sorry to interrupt, and it's fine. I'm used to Kentarō by now." You thought it best to introduce yourself since you didn’t share any classes.

"Yeah I’ve seen you around school, I'm Iwaizumi Hajime. Maybe you could give us advice since we're not yet."

"I beat him at arm wrestling years ago, instant respect I guess." You shrugged, a hint of embarrassment there but it certainly piqued the Aces’ interest.

"Oh really? I'll have to challenge you sometime."

"I'd like that Iwaizumi."

Although you’d spent more time around the Aoba-Johsai VBC lately, you didn’t quite expect that competition to come quite so soon. In front of a vast variety of peers watching the pair of you prepare for the arm wrestling contest no less.

Mad Dog cemented his grip over the joined hands of yourself and Iwaizumi, curtly sighing like he’d rather be elsewhere, before flicking a glowering gaze to his Senpai who sat opposite you.

"Iwaizumi-san."

The team expected a warning, specifically to avoid causing you injury else Iwa would suffer the consequences, but the true intention was surprising to even the Ace.

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Yeah..?" Hajime looked to you quizzically before he’d replied, you maintaining an innocent smile.

Kyōtoni may've given Seijoh the wrong impression, to be honest you weren't confident in beating Iwaizumi in a feat of strength - that's not exactly how you'd beaten Kentarō, but all you needed to do was last three seconds.

“Go!”

Three seconds.

"You good (L/n)?" You happily nodded in reply, a smirk quirking his lips as he added more power, slowly forcing your stance into a careful submission.

Two seconds.

"You really are beautiful Hajime."

One second.

It was a determining split second, you'd felt the pressure alleviate from his arm completely due to surprise - instantly surging all of your strength to pin his arm before he refocused.

Zero.

Silence, ominous and echoing. Seijoh took exactly three moments to configure the results, glancing between Hajime and yourself, and finally at your interlocked hands.

The first and second years chorused 'Ooohs' and applause whilst the third years continued to stare on in disbelief. Oikawa swamped his partner before he could react whilst Kyōtani shoved your shoulder with a scowl.

"I can't believe you lost Iwa-chan?! We're adding more bicep curls to your workouts, it'll improve your spiking power too..."

Amidst the chatter, Iwaizumi managed to pull you to the side whilst the team were distracted and had bemusement etched onto his expression.

"You're strong Iwa, you would kick my ass if we had a rematch. You're still the champion of Aoba Johsai no matter what." Came your honesty, knowing your methods were haphazard at best, you’d resigned the title of ‘Arm Wrestling Champion’ to Iwaizumi since you’d only participated for fun.

"I'll let you enjoy the victory glow before I challenge you again, it suits you. That was a good strategy by the way, I wasn't expecting it."

"It's a one time wonder, I told Kyōtani there was a dog outside when we competed."

"Ah so that's the true tactic huh?" He seemed more defeated than previously, and also partially disappointed and you'd realised why.

"Iwaizumi, it may've been underhanded but that doesn't mean I was lying."

Your words left him speechless whilst you took the opportunity to reunite with an awaiting Mad-Dog. Oikawa soon joined his best friends’ side, giving him a nudge with petty disapproval lacing his voice.

“Can’t believe you lost that, I mean technically you let yourself get distracted by their comment, so what’s with you?”

"Um, they were telling the truth." Iwaizumi uttered, still processing the revelation himself.

"When they called you beautiful? But they haven't— (L/n)-chan! Am I pretty?" Oikawa hurriedly called to you.

"Huh? Sorry can't hear you!" Your brush off left Iwa laughing and Oikawa wearing his childish pout.

"...this is worse than Kiyoko ignoring me. You pick the strangest ones Iwa-chan!"

"I know. I picked you remember?" The Ace deadpan cemented, prior to flicking back to Oikawa offended. "Wait, whaddya mean pick them?"

"You like (L/n) don't you? Kinda evident by your fond smile and cute blush you— OW?!"

The Captain was cut off by a solid punch to his shoulder, one hard enough to make him reconsider his stance on additional bicep curls.

"Shut up Shittykawa!"

It ceased to fascinate the entirety of Seijoh just how connected you and Kyōtani were, they dare say you’re the only human he’d willingly give the time of day. They also wanted to know how.

So after you’d finished your conversation with Iwaizumi and bid farewell to the team, they took advantage of the split second of contentment that briefly lingered in Kyōtani after seeing you.

“What does (L/n) have on you?” Makki spoke up first, only receiving a glare in response. His question wasn’t even justified with an answer.

Instead, Iwaizumi took a shot.

“(L/n) said they bested you at arm wrestling when you guys were younger, was it the same tactic?”

This actually received a reply, no matter how blunt.

"I only lost because (Y/n) pointed out this dog across the street, they knew how I really wanted one so..."

"Used it to beat you?" Yahaba interjected, as if resolving the suspense but Mad-Dog only rolled his eyes with a frustrated tut.

"That's what (Y/n) might want you to believe, but they were stupidly excited about me seeing it and blurted it out, pinning my arm in the process. (Y/n) offered a rematch straight after, saying it didn't count and apologised 50 times like an idiot."

"That's what did it?" Oikawa chimed in, even if he wasn't particularly involved in the conversation.

"I don't respect them because they beat me. I respect (Y/n) because they took the time to care."

Oikawa and Iwaizumi shared an understanding look, one that acknowledged you pointing out something he liked had gained you unparalleled loyalty. As such Hajime decided that he should show the same respect but he’d wait until he could catch Kyōtani alone to discuss it.

It was after practice that Iwaizumi had managed to catch the fiery spiker in the club room.

"Hey, Kentarō.” The blonde made a noise of acknowledgement when throwing his gym bag over his shoulder, enough for Iwaizumi to continue. “Would you mind if I asked (L/n) on a date?"

"What?" It was spoken more deadly than anything else, like pushing the subject further would cause him to bite.

"(L/n) (Y/n). I like them, a lot actually, and with how close you are I thought I'd let you know."

Kentarō dropped his bag to the floor, glare only intensifying like the fires of hell despite the calm explanation from his upperclassmen.

"..."

"Look I get it, but I think (L/n) would feel better if you appr—“

"You don't know (Y/n) like I do!" Mad-Dog suddenly snapped, voice cursing and loud, though Iwa remained neutral having expected this to some extent.

"Obviously not, you grew up together right?"

"Other people's happiness came first, all the time! They’re always trying their best for others even if they get anxiety or whatever. They make so many sacrifices for everyone. When I was an ass they didn’t give up on me either, they’re too—" It was spoken harshly, yet radiated emotion. "(Y/n) doesn't— they deserve— tch nevermind."

"That's why you try to make them smile, yeah?"

A low growl meant more than words, Kyōtani flashing his teeth prior to picking up his bag in a sulk which told enough of a story. Though Iwaizumi knew not to pester.

It remained quiet as the tension dissipated, Kentarō shoving his hands in his pockets and suddenly breaking the silence with a low tone.

"Iwaizumi-Sa—... Iwaizumi. You better make them happy. If you dare hurt (Y/n) in any way, I'll kill you."

"I'll look out for them, always, just as you will. (Y/n) can rely on both of us Kyōtani." Hajime confidently stated, a softer smile appearing. "And you don't need to worry, I'll try to keep them smiling."

"Tch, good luck. (Y/n) can still say no."

"I knew this was going too well." Though, it was the closest to approval he was going to get, he could only hope you agreed.

Nothing in this fandom needs to be "Exposed."

I've never gone into any drama with the intention to "expose" people, I've only ever done what I've done to warn people or defend myself. I'm sorry, but accounts being 'annoying' doesn't need to be talked about. Nothing needs to be talked about.

Exposing someone implies that they are significant and I'm sorry, but this is tumblr.com - no one in this fandom has a big following from being their own public figure, they have followers because they post content related to the Sturniolos. We are all fan accounts. Nobody is able to be a celebrity through a fan account.

This is frustrating for everyone in the fandom. Trust me, I get the anger and the annoyance, I really, really do. But, we can't stop these people from posting or making accounts. You can't convince them with words since any logic falls on deaf ears. You can't report their account because this app isn't very helpful. It really does feel like a losing battle and I get that.

However, I do think it's time for a change. A good change that may be difficult. If we wanna build the safe environment and make this a more positive place, that needs to come from us building, not us trying to tear others down - even if they are in the wrong. And I am beyond guilty of this. I will sit there, angrily looking at all the dumb shit instead of finding good people sharing good content and interacting. I truly am part of the problem, but I want to be part of the solution.

It's gonna be hard. I, out of all people, truly do understand how hard it is to block. You feel like you're missing out. What if you get talked about? What if your friends get talked about? What if you just...miss something? I get it. It's hard to let go because you're scared, but at this point, something needs to change.

If we think about it, blocking this account and feeding it no attention is the best way to proceed. Even if they still spread shit and do gross things, we can build a positive side of the community, one that doesn't feed into that garbage - lift people up and focus on the good things getting better.

People will realize it's a lot more fun to be reading, interacting, creating, and just being a good person. Those who don't can suffer from their own actions, being miserable, and that's fine. But it won't be me and I refuse to let this cycle continue personally.

I love this app. I'd love it a lot more if I felt like I got to meet new people and build connections, bouncing creativity off my friends, sharing ideas and just getting excited. That's what I want, so that's what I'm gonna do and strive to achieve every time I come on here.

So yes, that account will be getting blocked from me. As will other expose accounts. They don't get my energy or attention anymore. I hope you can understand why and I hope we can all be apart of a solution rather than focusing on problems.

how your bond started and grew !

so lets say y'all met at the start of your UA years, were seated next to each other. he was being his pissy lil 15 year old self, sitting on the table, yelling, average cunt attitude. you sat next to him, and eventually told him to stfu. naturally, that both irked and surprised him because nobody had really ever done so. but it somehow drew him in.

over the next few months, a 'tolerance', in his words, formed. but it was in fact friendship, he just didn't want to admit so (emotionally constipated ass)

he'd pick you first in sparring, knowing your strength and agility would work into his (because let's face it, at this point he still would have a complex of not wanting to be around anyone 'weak').

more time goes on, and there's a bit more opening up between the two of you. more on your side, but he tries. you see sides of each other you didn’t know were there, but it only elevates reason for your mutual admiration and respect.

moving into the dorms was a big plus for you both. you had more time to talk, hang out, and train. yes, people suspected smth more was going on, which was fucking annoying. but you both knew there was no romance in things. you just genuinely like each other's company

the actual headcanons lolol:

it took a while to get to it, but physical affection doesn’t go left out in your friendship. this is one of the main reasons people think you're together, but you both see it with the fact that intimacy doesn’t need to be more than just general feelings of closeness. yes, he complains when you use him as a human heater or pillow. but you don't miss how he buries his face into you, at last letting himself relax. he feels safe with you, and probably only you to do so. you might cuddle in your dorms after a long school day, rest on each other on the bus, hold hands when anxious. anything small or specifically by preference.

you are not of exception to is bullshit and remarks, i'd like to preface. but he does make an effort to remember any boundaries or triggers you have. your friendship holds a lot of value to him, and he would not want to cause any dents. and if he does, he waits, gives space, then it's talked out.

taking down villains is one of y'all's favourite hobbies LMAOOO. if you're his friend, you can match his energy and speed. the shit eating grins you both share when admiring your handy work (beat to shit villain) don't go unnoticed by classmates or teachers.

he teaches you to cook better! you maybe already could, but his teaching also comes from a place of care. cooking and eating good keeps you going, in his eyes at least. but you also both go out for food a lot. and don't think he hasn't forcefully built your spice tolerance.

you either bond over fandoms or get each other into them. which is dangerous if you are also a collector. maximalism fears you two. but it also helps with conversation. he was izuku's childhood bsf, TRUST the bitch knows how to ramble.

he is not only loyal, but extremely fucking observant. to the point he can read you cover to cover. whether it's your mood, a habit/stim/tic you have, what makes you laugh, what your favourite song is at the moment- he knows you in a way that signs his devotion to you and the dedication he has to your friendship.

he has a specific level of trust in you, especially after opening himself up to you in terms of who he is behind his crass and crude demeanour, and his thoughts/experiences. he wants you both to feel like you never have to fear expressing yourselves when it's only you two.

y'alls most common hang outs would be: cooking, watching shitty reality shows and mocking the people in them, movie nights, training/sparring, cooking, studying, going on walks/hikes, and concerts.

he just picks you up for some reason? off the ground?? zero explanation?? sometimes just walks around holding u like a bag????

if you ever bicker, it goes on for so. fucking. long. everyone in the class A dorms is TIRED. but you both can't help but crack grins during it, because you actually enjoy seeing how creative you can get.

DEEP !! CONVERSATIONS!!! we've seen him go to bed at 8pm in the series, but i don’t actually think he sleeps then. you've shared many times where either of u couldn’t sleep and texted each other to come over to one of your dorms, and didn't get to sleep til 3 because of your yap session. it could start as just gossiping or ranting, but then it could get to what you think comes after death or some shit 🧌 or your fears, and why they're fears to begin with. but you both soon drift off, and scramble to get ready the next day LOLL

he very begrudgingly let you do his makeup one day, and from there decided to start wearing eyeliner! he wanted to for a while (emo) but only started when seeing himself with it boosted his confidence :))

at some point, you get matching piercings and/or tattoos. he made fun of you for being nervous but almost shat himself when he got his tongue pierced. as for tattoos, i see you both getting an explosion, and also something related to your quirk as well. small but easy to spot, like a badge of pride.

he is clingy. he ain't ever gonna admit it, but he is in fact a koala at points. but it's for the reason he finally found a person who's company and presence doesn’t require him to be on guard of snap. you have a level of patience with him, and that means more than he can show or say.

speaking of showing and saying, he's often gifting you small trinkets or things related to things you like :) also making you meals when you're down, even if it's that 'shitty unhealthy crap you always want'. seeing you smile is important to him. so is knowing you're okay.

would probably freak if you got injured badly. he finally found someone who gets him, and who's his number 1 when things get hard, and the thought of you being in pain or losing you makes his stomach hurt. but if it's not severe, he'll be there to attend to you if you don't go to Recovery Girl.

you will have either a shared agency or agencies close in location/affiliation when you become pro's. no matter rankings or ratings, you will cheer each other on and offer support whenever you can. not even climbing to the top will separate you from each other. also if it's your choices, you go on a LOT of missions together.

he genuinely loves you sm it's so sweet :( <333 he won’t say it often, but showing it though quality time, a gift, or acts of service, is a common occurrence. it's a mutual love language to look out for each other and always be there for each other if it's accessible. you're his platonic soulmate, even though he'd rather drink piss than say so. he might not want to spend his life with someone tied down, but you're a placement he's willing to maintain.

Ok I'm actually going to blow a fuse over just how BADLY Dark Pit gets mischaracterized within fandom works (specifically in relation to Smash Bros)

Like I get from a basic look at his character design and name, obviously you're going to think he's an evil version/an opposite of Pit (think Dark Samus or Dark Sonic for example) but I think even the Kid Icarus fandom tends to forget how his whole existence and by extension his personality works.

Dark Pit came from the Mirror of Truth, which doesn't create an opposite version of the person who goes through it, but it reflects their true feelings and emotions (it's called the Mirror of Truth, what do you think it's going to reflect)

Dark Pit is the personification of Pit's repressed emotions, so whatever Pit feels deep down, is what Dark Pit puts on display, so the opposite could also be said, that the way Pit acts is how Dark Pit truly feels (they're opposites in that regard)

Dark Pit isn't some villainous asshole, because that would mean Pit is too. And Pit isn't some completely innocent little cinnamon roll, because that would mean Dark Pit is too. They are more similar than they and a lot of other people would like to admit. They are two sides of the same coin.

But I feel like this mischaracterization mostly comes from the Smash Bros community, which in all fairness to them, simply don't know Kid Icarus' lore. Which I'd totally understand if Nintendo wasn't feeding them this 'Dark Pit is a villain' propaganda (I use the term propaganda very loosely, can you tell I'm angered?)

Because if my memory serves me correctly, there have been multiple times where there will be those 'heroes vs villains' online Smash tournaments, and Pit and Dark Pit are always put as the 'hero vs villain.' And yes, I know that Dark Pit is an anti-hero in Uprising, but there is a clear difference between an anti-hero and villain (anti-hero -> good thing, bad reason ; villain -> bad thing, bad reason)

Not to mention that Uprising is about seven hours long, and Dark Pit is only in it for about three hours total, which honestly is not a lot of screentime for him. But in those three-ish hours, he has done more heroic things than any of the other villains/anti-heroes in Smash and I'd argue some of the heroes too have ever done. His good deeds outweigh his bad ones (he swallows his own pride to help Pit save Palutena, he puts his differences with Palutena aside to work together to save Pit's life by going to the Rewind Swing, he saves Pit from Hades' stomach, he once again puts his differences aside with Palutena to join Pit after Hades' defeat since she's the one who grants him the Power of Flight. And I would also like to mention that he did not instigate the fight throughout Chapter 6, Palutena and Pit started that)

Dark Pit acts the way he does because that's what people expect of him. They see him as a lesser version of Pit, so he's a kid who's gonna try and prove them wrong. He only picks fights with Pit because the first thing Palutena (who Pit openly loves and admires, which means Dark Pit deep down also still loves and admires her) says about him is that "he's fundamentally wicked and destructive and needs to be eliminated." Can you imagine the person you love, look up to and trust with your life say that about you? Sure, it might be another version of you, but it's still you. That's one reason why Dark Pit doesn't like Palutena (but that is a rant for another day where we bring the Pittoo nickname into play)

But I get it. It's easier to paint Dark Pit as a jerk and asshole character than exploring a complicated character with complex emotions and feelings that everyone disregards because it's just a bit too similar to how real people are in real life.

It's easier to say he's an edgy clone.

Hi! I hope you are doing well B. For starters, I stepped back on the fandom for a while (personal reasons) but suffice it to say, it made my mind clear for a lot of things here. Do I fully believe Nic and Luke are together romantically? MAJOR YES. Do I believe that they are with adjacents? Nope. Not a bit. With A and Luke? They might be some sort of association but we all saw how it turned out. It turned sour and messy. At the very least, if they want to sell the narrative A and Luke are in a relationship, they should have tried harder than social media likes, seemingly coordinated events together, followings and that forced body language. That last one made me laugh because I asked several of my friends who knows nothing about the lore, especially the one where A and Luke are walking in together and Luke just swatted A's hand, trust me a lot of my friend side eyed that. They said, you don't do that to your gf. That's one step towards disrespect. (Their words not mine) So I tried to tell them the timeline from June 13 afterwards until today about A and they almost convinced my friends that they were dating at the beginning, but the more their interactions are seen publicly, the more they kinda seemed PR to them. One of my friends said, "I would say they've been dating if I didn't sense this feeling of forced in between them. Just fucking eerie to be honest and to think I know nothing of them. If, and if, they are truly in love with one another, people will sense that kind of comfort between two people in love. But with them? None. Like that one of the water, he sure does held her there but the distance is so visible. I'd say if that girl was my gf, I would held her closer to me even if the water is just shallow."

Fast forward to the BOSS event, my friends said when I showed them:

Friend: Oh, so they walked together at red carpet huh? They holding hands?

Me: No. At least from what I saw aside the one vid I showed you guys (the hand swatting)

Friend 2: OH girl I recognize the guy, is he from that show with balls and regency era? (Yep my friend sort of recognize Luke, so proud of Lukey here 🥹)

Me: Yep.

Friend 2: If that girl is his gf, I hate to say this but their pics together, his body language is leaning away from her. That feeling of forced again like it is sickening to watch. Advice from that girl, have more self respect and leave that relationship, because it looks like your man is in love with another girl. (At this point my friend also recognized Nic)

Friend: You know him?

Friend 2: Not really, but last year I saw some pictures of him and Miss Irish that seems like a netflix event. They were sitting in a couch and Miss Irish is sitting almost on that guy's lap. They were all over each other, mind you that couch has so much space. My oomf has been shipping them ever since.

Friend: Miss Irish?

Friend 2: You know, the girl from Derry girls.

Me : yep.

Friend 2: You know, hate comparing but Mister Newton is more comfortable with his bff than his alleged gf. Sad.

We really had interesting discussions about Nicluke lore and the entire timeline along with adjacents but talking to my friends made me realize I'm not crazy. We all are not crazy for rooting for Nic and Luke in real life. And sorry B gosh I'm just really happy and feeling refreshed that a lot of things now made so much sense to me here. The only thing I'm waiting is their official launch, hoping that my hairs don't turn gray yet.

I've been replaying Deltarune recently and interacting with the fandom a lot more. And I've become quite fond of Krisuselle (a polyamorous ship including Kris, Susie, and Noelle). To the point where I think it might be one of my favorite ships of all time. And since I've apparently got nothing better to do. I figured, i'd write a post detailing what about it I and others find so appealing about it. Let's get started:

Right off the bat, one of the things that makes deltarune more appealing in a shipping sense to me is the cast. Nothing against Undertale, of course, it's got one of my favorite groups of characters in anything ever. Everyone is so charming, they're far more complex than at first glance, and they all have well written character arcs. Same goes for Deltarune. But the major thing that differentiates the two is that Deltarune is mostly compromised of kids. Teens yes, but still kids. Kids who aren't really sure who they are yet. Compared to Undertale, where pretty much everyone had at least a bit of understanding of their life, the cast of Deltarune is far more nebulous. They're emotional, immature, dependent, and act like how any other kid would. And then all of a sudden, they're thrusted into this huge adventure where they have to decide the fate of their world. It's a massive responsibility that flips their entire world view. But through that journey, they learn to mature, reconnect, and accept their roles or even defy them. And as someone who is still going through the transition from teenager to adult, I identify with these characters. The self-discovery of who you want to be and what you want to do is something that I, and a lot of others have gone through. And one of the aspects of that journey is love.

Which is why Kris, Susie, and Noelle appeal to me so much. With only two chapters worth of narrative, we've already seen so much of how their lives has been thrown into turmoil. Noelle lost her sister, Susie is implied to have a rough homelife, and Kris has lost literally lost their own will. And yet, despite that, they each have a deep affection for the others. And they come to discover that as they traverse the Dark World. And each of their individual relationships is so unqiue. To the point where I could write whole sections on them. Which I will now do.

Kris and Susie get off to rocky start. They're both put together not of their own volition to do something they never signed up for, figuertaively and literally. And at first, they're pretty antagonistic to each other, almost like rivals, and understandably so. They're both seen as the weird kid, freaks. They've been ostracized from the rest of the world for as long as they can remember.

But as they venture through the Dark World, the both of start to ease up. They learn more about each other and begin to finally start trusting one another. And as they do, they start to grow into the heroes the prophecy foretold them to be. And they both play off the other's strengths to make them into better characters.

Kris inspires Susie to finally let down her emotional walls and allow herself to trust, and use her fighting spirit in a constructive way rather than just break everything she sees.

Likewise, Susie helps Kris to learn how to be a leader, and she is the first legitimate social bond Kris has made since Asriel left. They both make each other better, stronger.

And that's another interesting thing about their relationship. They're not archetypal heroes. When they're thrust into this huge conflict where the two of them are supposed to be the heroes, they reject it. It's most notable with Susie, but Kris does too in subtler ways. And even when they do accept their roles, there's always this sense of rebellion in them. They will be the heroes of this story, but they refuse to let anyone write this story but themselves. Renegades.

Susie and Noelle, on the other hand, have a very different relationship. One that had hints as early as Chapter 1 but really started in 2. At first glance, it just seems like the whole lovesick girl and oblivious crush stereotype (but gay so it's infinitely better). But like almost everything from Toby Fox, appearances may be deceiving. What makes their relationship so fascinating is why Susie and Noelle have affection for each other.

For Noelle, she's drawn to Susie because of her free spirited and rebellious nature. She's not afraid to break the rules or take a stand for what she thinks is right. It's such a contrast from Noelle where she's expected to be this perfect girl who does as she's told, is the top of her class, and knows how to take care of herself on her own. And we can see that she clearly can't always handle it, especially considering her past. In a frightening world where Noelle has lost the biggest crutch of her life, Dess, Susie represents everything that Noelle thinks she needs. Someone to help save this poor Lost Girl.

Susie, meanwhile, is drawn to Noelle because she was the one person who never hated her. Everyone in her life seemed to always be against her, so she lashed out, which did nothing but isolate her more. She had to learn how to fend for herself. At least, that's what she thinks to herself. But throughout it all, Noelle never hated her. By her own admission, Noelle would see the aggression and callousness from Susie and just offer a kind smile in return. And Susie always appreciated that.

The two represent what the other needs on an emotional level. Someone to help Noelle step out of her comfort zone, learn to actually live her life, and find the courage to stand up for herself. Someone that Susie can finally let her guard down around and accept genuine compassion and acceptance from, in a way that only Noelle can provide. And the thing is, neither of them had the courage to actually act on their feeling until they got wrapped up the Dark World. And it's not because they weren't aware. Susie may be a bit dense, but she's not oblivious. No, it goes deeper than that. They don't act on their feelings because neither Noelle nor Susie think that the other would feel the same. Noelle thinks that Susie would never like some random deer girl like her. And Susie struggles to believe that ANYONE would really like her in that way. They're two star-crossed lovers that will be forever stuck in this limbo of mutual pining until one of them finally gets the courage to confess.

But my personal favorite relationship is Kris and Noelle. Unlike with Susie, who's kinda seen as the new girl in town, Noelle and Kris have a VAST implied history. They were extremely close in their childhood. They lived next door to each other, their elder siblings were best friends, their families were intertwined, and by all accounts, they seemed to be happy. Everything from the overworld to the cyber city to the newsletters shows us that Kris and Noelle were once the closest of friends.

But then, something happened, something likely related to Noelle's sister Dess. I touched on her a bit in my Suselle section, but it really does seem like Dess was Noelle's anchor. She protected her, encouraged her, stood up for her, everything an older sister should do. And then, something happened to her. The details are a little unclear, but whatever exactly transpired caused Dess to go missing. And it's clear that this broke Noelle, which caused her and Kris to split up a bit. They were still friends, but they had to grow up without each other. It only got worse when Asriel left for University and Kris lost their will.

But then, the Dark World happened. And Kris and Noelle started to reconnect in their journey. And along the way, maybe uncover some new affection for the other. They're reminded of their time together when they were kids, when everything was so simple. When they both had someone who could comfort them. But things are different now, but that doesn't mean they can't still be friends. And maybe they don't need to face their struggles alone anymore. And that's what I love so much about these two. It's such a tender and soft relationship. There's never any big romantic display. They don't need it. They show their affection in more sublte ways.

Like when Noelle feels reassured when Kris says that they're friends. When she reminisces about their childhood toghether in the city. How she feels sorry for Kris for getting hurt by Susie. And how she is the only one to notice something is wrong with Kris on the Weird Route and how she vows to help them. Noelle has been estranged from Kris for so long that she thinks that the two of them can never be close again. But seeing Kris trying to reach back out to her makes her realize that they still are friends.

Kris also shows a lot of affection for Noelle as well. They encourage her to make a move on Susie because they know she has a crush on her. They constantly play pranks on her. They would play piano for Noelle when they were young. They make sure to look after her after Rudy asked. They get upset when we bully her at the laser gate. And they try to fight against our control in the Snowgrave route at every turn. Kris doesn't want to lose the last remnant of their childhood. The one friend they always had, no matter what.

And this relationship gets even more interesting when you consider how it diverges in the Weird Route. Because it only works because Noelle trusts Kris. We, the player, are using Kris as a pawn to force Noelle to commit horrible acts and even willingly put herself in harms way. Noelle has to try and convince herself that her lifelong friend isn't really making her kill people, including her friend. And Kris has no choice but to go along with it, despite clearly never wanting this. Nothing more than a puppet on our strings. And that's not even getting into the marital themes where Kris and Noelle are forced into symbolically archetypal husband and wife roles, respectively. It's honestly crazy how simultaneously similar and different the two outcomes are. Instead of the both of them reconnecting naturally over nostalgia and a shared adventure, they're forced apart even further apart by a new outside force. And yet, this strengthens their resolve to help the other. The same two friends, but twisted and warped into something so disturbing and sadistic.

Kris and Noelle's relationship is so rich with personal history and buried feelings that it's honestly almost overwhelming. There's so much nuance and ambiguity that it can be interpreted as romantic or platonic as you prefer. And yet it's so different from the other two relationships or really any relationship that Toby has ever wrote. They're two childhood friends who drifted apart over some traumatizing event, who both began to reconnect through a shared adventure and maybe discover something even deeper. It's one of my favorite aspects of Deltarune as a whole if I'm being honest.

And honestly, I could say that for all three of the relationships. Each one individually on it's own is so enveloping and has so much potential. But when the three are together, they just feel... complete. Kris and Susie, rivals turned to comrades. Susie and Noelle, a blossoming star-crossed romance. Noelle and Kris, long-lost childhood friends who thaw out their frozen hearts. Everyone of those dynamics bounces off of each other so well. And here's the other thing, no ever comes off as a third wheel. Kris acts as a wingman (wingthem?) for susie and Noelle, actively encouraging them to interact and open up. Susie is the catalyst that leads Noelle and Kris to reconnect and looks out for the both of them, making sure they're both safe and happy. And Noelle acts as a comfort to both Susie and Kris, allowing them to open up around her, and she's content to let them be the heroes of her story. They're all just kids who love each other.

And I think that's why this ship appeals to me so much. Because despite all the supernatural and mystical elements of Deltarune's story. The relationships of these three are really grounded. Toby Fox managed to write an incredibly endearing, and incredibly realistic portrayal of teenage love. Because that's what they are, teenagers. They may be emotional, they may make mistakes, they may become distant and closed off, they may be scared of what the world has in store for them. But they can still grow. They don't need to take on the world by themselves, They can learn to let out their emotions and be who they want to be. They can still learn to feel love. Whether it's for your partner in crime or the girl next door, your oblivious crush or your old best friend, your sister in arms or your childhood sweetheart. You can always find love. And there will always be those who can help you along the way.

And I think that's a really profound message.
