Captain Wodan commanded respect. She was thick set, and built like brick wall. It was rare to see her out of her fitted, full plate armor and even rarer to see her out of parade rest. That was a privilege that only her closet squad members could see— even then, she was likely to be dressed in her military formal attire rather than a threadbare shirt and linen pants. The latter was attributed more often to her lieutenant, Jazker Gailladria. Those who have barely heard of him knew him as the second son of a noble house, those who have met him knew him as a skirt chasing lay-about. Those who were friends with him? Well.

Those who were friends with him knew him as all of the above, as well as stupid, hardworking, talented, kind, and above all else— cunning.

Elsje Wodan belonged to the category of 'friend', alongside their two other squadmates Runishta and Polus. At this current moment, however, Elsje was thinking about revoking the friendship status.

"You really don't think we could get like, a herd of horses?" He asked, downturned eyes somehow looking up at her through his lashes despite their over-a-foot height difference.

"Once more I will ask, what for?" Elsje's voice was getting strained with exasperation. This conversation has been going around in circles for almost fifteen minutes and she was getting tired of it.

"Morale." Jazker blinked pleadingly, looking so much like a puppy that she wondered if she could stick him in a pitiful box, leave him in the next town, and someone would adopt him into a new loving home just so that she wouldn't have to deal with his stupid pretty face anymore.

"Right. You want us to tame an entire herd of wild horses... to boost morale."

"Yes."

"Request Denied." She said, voice thick with authority and finality.

He threw up his hands in exaggerated defeat, "Damnit! I was SO close this time!" He seemed to pout for good measure.

Elsje narrowed her eyes at him. He'd been bringing up this ridiculous 'request' every week for the past two months. They then get into a near twenty minute long debate about it before she inevitably turns him down and he finally leaves. The only question is WHY. He isn't dumb, despite his best attempts to appear so. She knows that he knows they can't ACTUALLY get a random herd of horses. So why? Why have this whole debate every week? Was it to shirk his duties? She glances at her reports. He's done everything asked of him, so it couldn't be that. Her gaze bored into the words 'Gailladria' on the report page. Each instance of the name had a 'Task Completed' and then a date next to that. She kept staring at it for another few moments as if it could give her the answers she was looking for. She only looked back to her lieutenant when she heard a small, contented sigh. The kind she was sure he hadn't even intended to make.

When she did look up, however, her eyes met his. He looked... happy. In a gentle way. He had a small smile on his tanned face and his eyes were soft and kind. It wasn't the kind of look she'd ever seen on him, not on any of his numerous dates. It made a tingling sensation go down her spine and a heat rise to her face.

"Jaz?" Her voice came out softer than it should have. She was supposed to be authoritative right now.

"Yeah?" He more sighed than said, eyes not leaving the soft curve of Elsje's face.

Elsje opened her mouth to say something, it died in her throat before she even knew what it was so she closed her mouth. The flush in her face was getting hotter and more irritating the longer he looked at her.

In the end, she could only bark out: "Don't look at me like that."

His smile grew a little wider, and he teased softly, "Simply impossible."

Her shoulder's stiffened and her lips pursed. His eyes danced with mirth as she did so and she just knew he was enjoying watching her squirm.

"You shouldn't look at me like that." She scolded again, but it came out sincere instead of cold.

A mote of sadness- no, yearning danced in his eyes like dust motes in sunlight as he softly answered, "I know."

They both knew.

They both also knew that Elsje was never going to do anything to stop him, because they both knew that she looked at him the exact same way.

Bucktommy, Past Nightmares, T-rated

AU: What if Tommy had a past that got him in contact with (N)CIS in the past, not as a suspect but as a victim? (Inspired by Lou's guest appearance on the show)

Tommy just saw Lucy give Evan a fistbump before she hightailed it out of Harbour Station for some date she'd mentioned one or twice. Or rather, about a dozen times over the last five hours of the shift.

He waved to her anyway because Tommy was entirely smitten with his boyfriend, and he was aware that Lucy's ramblings had been nothing against his attempts to bring Evan up as often as possible. Then, he was much more focused on the treat that said boyfriend was coming to pick him up.

"Hey, stranger," Tommy called out, willingly letting himself be pulled into a tight hug when he got close enough. Evan sighed into the embrace, pulling away reluctantly.

"I hate it when our schedules clash this much."

"I know, baby."

Two weeks - a lifetime - and the urge to kiss Evan deeper than a quick peck was almost unbearable. Evan smelled of his favourite coffee and something faintly musky, uniquely him.

A quick peck was all Tommy allowed himself. He wasn't certain that he would be able to hold back if he kissed Evan any deeper. Christ, he'd missed-

"Mr. Kinard."

Tommy drew his eyes away from his sweet boyfriend. When he spotted the man who had spoken, he instantly felt dread claw up his throat.

"Agent Richter," he said. "It's been a while."

There was a whole set of questions Tommy didn't quite dare to ask, burning at the back of his throat: Is he out? But that couldn't be. He had at least another 5 years. Did he do something in prison?

He hadn't expected ever to have CSI turn up at Habour—much less Agent Richter. Or rather: He'd hoped he would never meet the man again. He didn't mind Richter all that much. But Tommy definitely minded what he stood for. A frisson of his past that Tommy would rather forget stuck to that man's boots like chewing gum that just wouldn't come off.

Evan touched his wrist, and Tommy interlaced their fingers almost without thinking about it. Then he spoke before he could overthink it, cutting straight to the point: "He hasn't tried to contact me."

"Funny, we haven't even asked any questions," the second agent said. She seemed a good deal younger than her partner, blonde and with sharp eyes. Tommy didn't like her tone, but he'd long since learned that interacting with it would not gain him any ground.

"Cut him some slack, Miller. I think that's on me," Agent Richter said. "Mr Kinard can probably guess why we're here."

Evan squeezed his hand, and Tommy turned back to him. He didn't speak, but his eyes asked questions anyway. Tommy sighed and turned back to the agents.

"Let's take this outside?"

They ended up at the far side of the parking lot. Evan moved as if to step away and give them privacy. But Tommy held his hand.

"Stay," he asked, begging. Evan nodded.

"This doesn't concern him," the woman said.

"I rather think it does," Tommy told her, a little sharper than he intended to. "My fiance has a right to know what's going on. As do I."

Agent Richter considered Evan for longer than Tommy was really comfortable with.

"What's going on here?" Evan asked, looking at Tommy.

"Do you remember what I told you about Andy?" Tommy asked. "I might have glossed over some details. He wasn't just stalking me, he was..."

Tommy trailed off. He wondered how angry Evan would be about this - it wasn't that he'd meant to hide it, but there just seemed no point in retelling this old story. It didn't matter now anyway. Except. They'd talked about keeping secrets, and Tommy clearly had a few of those.

He looked up when Evan touched his shoulder. "Are you alright?"

Tommy released the breath he was holding, and he almost laughed. How did he deserve such sweet concern? He nodded briefly.

"Better if we get this over with," he said, turning back to Richter. "Why are you here?"

"There is no good way to tell this story, so in simple words, Andy Grislow escaped."

Evan's touch grew firmer, steadying Tommy as he almost swayed forward.

"Breathe," Evan whispered, and Tommy did.

"Someone from the outside helped him-"

"El, come on," Smith said, a warning in his tone.

"What? We've seen a lot of good actors—" Miller scoffed, her eyes narrowed.

"Is that how you treat the people around you?" Evan hissed, stepping between her and Tommy. His voice was a low growl, a protective ferocity Tommy had never seen before.

"Evan," Tommy barely touched his arm before Evan's attention was back on him. It was a bit much, how close they were standing, the way in which Tommy leaned towards Evan like a flower towards the sun.

"You're looking for him?"

"Yes," Agent Richter said. "This is a courtesy call to make sure you're aware he might target you."

Tommy glanced at the second agent.

"Agent Miller doesn't know all the details of the case."

The memory of a belt, choking, sheer, animalistic terror - it clawed at Tommy, demanding to be heard. He took a deep breath and released it slowly. Then he focused again.

"I'd appreciate it if you could keep me updated."

Miller drew a breath, but Richter beat her to it. "Of course."

Tommy gave them a curt nod, fingers still too tightly digging into Evan's hand. Not that he complained - he was solid and warm as the agents walked over to their car and drove off. And he continued to be so as they made their own way to the jeep, got in, and drove back home.

Evan didn't even ask about any of it right until Tommy dropped his keys into the bowl on the dresser and braced himself for anger. Still, he was the one to speak first.

"Evan, I'm sorry, I should-"

"Did he hurt you?" he didn't sound angry at all. Evan sounded concerned. Of course, he did. Something tight in Tommy's chest eased - and he actually felt a little guilty about assuming Evan would react with anything but sweet, worried, gentle questions.

Tommy nodded, just once.

"We don't have to talk-"

"I think we should," Tommy insisted, his gentle tone half for himself and half for Evan. He hesitated for a beat longer, but then Tommy began to speak.

Why does Dr. Stone have a small fan community?

I decided to rewatch the anime when I realized I wanted to know how this whole thing ended! I admit, the reason that ties the whole story together interested me from the beginning: why did all the people in the world turn to stone?

Since then, I ended up watching the entire first season, and here I am, watching the 4th season being released. It's amazing that there was something beyond the first season, but I remembered that it has the beneficial factor: being shounen.

IT PROMISED NOTHING AT THE BEGINNING BUT IT'S DELIVERING HOT MEN AND FUN

Well then. I don't think I was the only one who wanted to drop the series when there was the scene with Ruri taking the antibiotic. That was extremely bizarre. It seems like it was even strange for hardcore shounen consumers (really???). I vaguely remember people wanting to "cancel" the series on social media for the following reasons: how the bodies were drawn and those hypersexualized scenes at questionable moments.

I suspect that this scene caused problems. It must have reached the ears of Boichi and the writer, as well as the anime's production studio. If a drastic change is noticed in the first season, we almost no longer have strange angles on female bodies as we saw in the first episodes.

I'm not saying that it doesn't have sexy and sexualized female bodies, it has the famous formula that is always used in manga for the male audience: big breasts, thin women, big butts and beautifuls womens.

They cut out so many unnecessary hypersexualized scenes of the girls that they were left with only hypersexualized scenes of the male characters, which clearly continued throughout the seasons, we have naked men with their butts in the sun in diving scenes (and much more).

This made me think that Boichi must do this when he draws, sexualizing both types of bodies, men and women. I don't know what kind of hentai and adult works he must have drawn, but I noticed this in Dr. Stone's work, even though it is far from being intended as adult content.

This excess of male nudity must have been strange to many who were watching, and if they were watching because of the girls in the anime… I feel sorry for you, but the anime took a different direction from the initial target audience they wanted, men, but they ended up hitting the FEMALE AUDIENCE.

Each new character is a man with a handsome face (with a few exceptions), a perfect body and a striking personality. There are very few new female characters joining Senku's nerd club.

"There's no heterosexual explanation for this"

The straight couples ended up being erased, and they are couples that were well signaled by the authors. Now, the amount of scenes between men doing and saying brotherly things………things only got more intense as the seasons came out…… I started the anime thinking that the target audience was men, but in the end I felt like I was the anime's target audience.

Gen's existence is too "sugary" for a shounen work, or also his velvety voice every time he calls "senku-chan"…......

Stanley and Xeno appears delivering gay content, faster than the last BL works I've read in recent times.

Ryuusui exposed twice he is bisexual according to the Crunchyroll translation, it's very strange that he wasn't censored on Japanese TV.

THE APEX OF ABSURDITY IN THE WORK

One of the goals of this post is to help encourage everyone to watch Dr. Stone and give the anime a second chance. Let's gooo!!!

The authors embrace the height of absurdity in events:

Do you know DanDanDan? That's right, a popular shounen with a supernatural theme in which there are totally absurd events that the author uses the fuse of the strange to create the story and draw his manga.

Dr. Stone is not much different in this regard. The theme changes: science, physics, mathematics, chemistry and the like as weapons to write these events: they are so absurd that they are ridiculously funny.

Watching Dr. Stone is almost the same experience, silly, light, funny at times, something that you watch without having to think too much to understand what is being proposed and said there (and usually get some quick science lessons from Senku).

The protagonist is not boring by default, he is a nerd:

Our onion nerd is far from being the most boring protagonist I've seen in shounen manga (I've seen worse). If we have our darling Okarun the Ufology nerd, here we have Senku living and breathing science in every single episode.

Unusual character design:

Boichi did a great job designing several things, and one of them was the characters. He delivers the basics and does it very well, whether it's the villains or the protagonists.

I confess that Boichi's style is far from being my favorite, but I have to admit that he does his job as a mangaka very well.

Stop being hypocrites and complaining about the bodies in Dr. Stone while it exists and if other popular animes are consumed that do the same or worse, I don't see them wanting to "cancel" them because of that.

I didn't think the ending was bad at all (no spoilers):

I decided to look up the ending of the series so I could feel the disappointment now. I took a quick look around the internet and I'll be honest: it's not bad at all (there have been worse endings out there).

In this context, I recommend everyone do the same, research the ending at their own risk. Personally, it didn't discourage me from watching the anime until the end. I'm already "given in" to the characters, they captivated me and now there's no turning back (hottest charecters too).

SO WHY DID DR. STONE'S AUDIENCE DISAPPEARED??

With each episode I watched, I asked myself the same thing.

Maybe it was because of the initial choices made in the first season (first arc), and many ended up dropping the show right there.

There's a chance it was because of the hypersexualized scenes in the first episodes with girls.

There's a chance that the male audience found it strange to see so many naked male bodies and not a single moment of naked female characters.

I suspect it's also a silent treatment because the show ultimately focused on the female audience, which must be the majority of those who buy and consume the show nowadays.

I also didn't understand if their idea was to make certain events absurd or not, it was only in the second season that I understood that it was completely intentional, and many must have stopped watching because of that.

Many are also bothered by the fact that we brought up the possibility of gay, bisexual, lesbian, and asexual characters. There are many predatory anime\manga in this sense, the characters do homosexual things, and we know that the authors will NEVER EVER make this official, clearly Dr. Stone is another one on that list.

So why do I see a small community on Dr. Stone's social media? Why don't people talk about it more? Could it be the posts I mentioned above? Or something else I'm not aware of?

I recognize that all of these factors are present in animes currently being released. Dr. Stone meets all of the requirements. Until now, it remains a mystery why it is rarely mentioned on social media.

Fifth of All

Late one night, Tommy receives a text from Howie.

> buck in hospital. might not make it <

And that's the whole message. He doesn't elaborate beyond that or pick up when Tommy calls. So Tommy grabs his jacket and keys and sprints to his truck, hoping it's the same hospital as always.

He flies through the bay doors, not really remembering the drive, but he'll accept any tickets as long as he's here in time.

The nurse behind the desk is on the phone, but when she notices the slightly wild look in Tommy's eyes, she puts the call on hold long enough to direct him to Evan's room.

He tries not to run, but he can't deny that he jogs down one hallway, then the next two, before he comes to a stop outside the closed door.

It hits him then. He could lose Buck. He could lose Evan. Howie had warned him, said he might not make it.

Tommy feels sick.

He raises a fist to knock, but before he makes contact, the door swings open, a burst of noise and laughter hitting Tommy. Howie almost walks right into him before stumbling back, looking perplexed.

"Tommy? What are you doing here? What...?" he trails off.

Tommy looks around the hospital room and sees nearly everyone he hasn't spoken to since the breakup. Maddie's right behind Howie, Hen is in a chair off to one side, and Eddie is next to Bobby on the other. They're all clearly having a fun time, their laughter only fading when they notice Tommy and confusion takes over. It's not the sorrowful mourning Tommy had been expecting.

On the bed, Evan sits with his leg in an air cast, one arm in a sling, and various scrapes and cuts that Tommy can see on his face and arms. He's not exactly near death.

"'Buck in hospital. Might not make it.' Really, Howie?" he asks, staring down at wide, worried eyes.

"'Might not -" Howie scoffs, realization softening his features. "Tommy, I meant I might not make it to the karaoke bar tomorrow night. Gotta take care of the unlucky man-baby in the hospital bed over there."

"I'm not a 'man-baby,' Chim," Evan says, rolling his eyes. "I can take care of myself."

"Yeah," Bobby interrupts, "took care of yourself so well that you fell off a ladder today."

"I slipped!"

"You fell on a glass coffee table," Eddie says.

"Where you dislocated your shoulder and sprained your ankle and got a concussion," Hen adds.

"I'm fine," he insists. "Just need someone to drive me home when I'm released, and I can take care of the rest from there."

Tommy doesn't roll his eyes at Evan's petulant tone, but it's a near thing.

"I can help."

Six sets of eyes turn to him.

"We couldn't ask you to do that, Tommy," Maddie says softly.

There's a crinkle between her eyebrows that makes her look like she's trying to solve some puzzle. And in this case, the puzzle is Tommy.

"You're not asking," he answers just as softly. Then he asks everyone, "Can Evan and I talk for a few minutes?"

They all glance at Evan like they're waiting for his permission.

"It's fine, guys. Go get some coffee or something."

They all file out, Tommy standing out of the way as much as he can while everyone pats his shoulder or shakes his hand or — smacks him upside the head.

"I deserve that," he says, rubbing the sting where Hen's hand had connected with his skull.

"And more," she says seriously. "If you break him again, I swear to God I -"

"Okay, let's go," Eddie says, shoving her down the hall and away from striking range of Tommy. "We can save the threats for the next time he screws up. I'll help you take him down," he tells her with a smirk.

Tommy knows it's a joke, but it's also not a joke. He doesn't want to screw this up again either.

He steps into the room, closing the door behind himself. He stands near the foot of the bed, unsure if he'll be welcome any closer. Evan simply stares at him, waiting.

"So first of all, I'm sorry. Let's get that out of the way. And second of all," he takes one step closer, "I'm blocking Howie's number."

Evan snorts, but doesn't say anything. Tommy takes another step.

"Third of all, I'd really like to take care of you while you recover. If you'll let me."

"You don't need to do that."

"I know. I want to."

"I don't want you to do this because you feel obligated or like you owe me or whatever," Evan says, a little sad.

Tommy takes one final step that places him next to Evan's uninjured side.

"I have a lot of vacation time saved up. I'd like to spend it with you," he shrugs.

Evan looks like he wants to say something, but he doesn't. Instead, he nods, accepting Tommy's help.

"Fourth of all, I want you to stay at my house." He holds up a hand before Evan can protest. "You don't need to be worrying about stairs or trying to sleep on your couch once the shoulder heals. Plus, my kitchen is better."

"Okay, fine," Evan concedes. "What's fifth of all?"

"Fifth of all," he says, finally sitting in the chair at Evan's bedside, "please don't ever die."

That surprises a laugh out of Evan.

"What? That's not something I can promise."

"Then at least make sure I die first."

"Tommy," Evan says, concerned, "you know I can't promise any of that. What's going on?"

"I -" he clears his throat when his voice breaks, "I lost you once. And I know I owe you an explanation for everything. But today I thought I might lose you for good, and — I can't do it again. I can't take the thought of losing you forever."

"Tommy -"

"I love you."

Evan's mouth snaps shut.

"And I don't expect you to say it back - now or ever - but I need you to know that one more person out there loves you. So please, at least try not to die while I'm still alive, okay?"

It takes a moment for Evan's expression to shift from shock to understanding.

"Okay, I can try."

"Good. That's - that's good. Thanks."

Evan holds out his hand, wiggling his fingers until Tommy laces his own through. He can feel the adrenaline crash hitting him.

"So does this mean you want to try again?" Evan asks.

"If you'll give me another chance, I'd like to try keeping you. And we can call this a trial run for living together. Although I don't want to move too fast for you."

"If anything, I think I moved too fast for you," Evan smiles. "Maybe this time instead of moving at my pace or your pace, we can move at our pace."

"Have I ever told you how much I love the way your brain works?"

Evan squeezes his hand.

"Once or twice I think."

"Is that all? That's not nearly enough."

It's easy to fall back into this thing with Evan. They talk until the 118 crew and Maddie return, and then they all talk some more. Tommy takes his fair share of gentle ribbing, but with Evan's hand in his own, it's not so bad.

The next morning, Tommy gets to take Evan home. They've gone over all of the discharge forms and orders from the doctor, and they pick up two prescriptions from the pharmacy on their way.

As Tommy helps Evan get settled in the recliner, Evan says, "I love you, too, y'know."

Tommy barely falters where he's fluffing the pillow against Evan's back.

"You really are on a lot of painkillers."

"Tommy," Evan says seriously, the hand of his good arm clutching Tommy's wrist before he can pull away, "I love you. I never stopped. I don't know if I ever could."

It's the simplest thing to lean down and press his lips to Evan's. It's less simple to allow himself to accept what Evan said. Not because he doesn't believe Evan means it, but because he doesn't know if he'll ever deserve it.

"What do you want to eat? I think we'll order in, so pick whatever. Thai? Chinese? Sushi? There's that new Ethiopian place two streets over."

"Delivery is so expensive, Tommy."

"I'm on vacation," he shrugs. "And maybe I wanna splurge on some food for you."

"Well, first of all -"

"Don't start."

Honestly it always makes me a little upset when people say Near is a copy of L/too similar to him, because as much as that's the point of his character, I also don't even think it's that accurate?? Visually he's similar, but in personality, there are a lot of key differences that get overlooked in favour of the cosmetics. Their treatment of Light/Kira is a major one that comes to mind, with regards to the notable respect L shows towards Light and his methods. Near is also quite a bit more expressive than L; L mostly alternates between "deep in thought" and "mildly annoyed", with some minor flexibility outside of that, whereas Near has a distinct look of excitement when things are going his way, looks distraught when his team members die, and gets angry several times to the point of physically breaking things. Near's manner is more blunt, and he's a much bigger nuisance to Light on the basis that he's more inclined towards brutal honesty, whereas L is a notorious liar with a habit of deception. Near also focuses more on morality in his approach to the Kira case, and doesn't have the same ego or personal investment in detective work that L does. L is a lot more physically active than Near too, with his record as a tennis champion and occasional tendency to pace while speaking. The move to enrol in college, for example, is not something I could ever see Near doing. Near was specifically groomed to be L's successor, so there's definite overlap in their attitudes and methods, but they're actually quite different characters if you look beyond the surface, and I think it's important to treat Near as a unique character who takes on L's role rather than an outright clone.

I love so much how every time we see art and patrick before knee-gate, they're eating (or drinking) something "unhealthy." Like the hotdogs and the churros and the cigarettes, of course (which I'm now realizing are all phallic symbolism LMAO) plus the coca-colas and the beer. Because it just furthers this idea that Patrick is a kind of corrupting force to Art, who we know, as Ice, is a very controlled person. And then, during their final game, you have Art with his fuckass protein paste, or whatever, but Patrick with the banana, which obviously isn't unhealthy, but still something much more akin to the food of your average person—and he offers it to him! Jokingly, yeah, because he knows he's not going to take it, but also, like offering his hand, inviting Art to take part in his own corruption once again. Plus, a banana?? Could they have found a more dick-like food? Insanity.

Also I like that the one scene we have of the throuple in a room together (the party notwithstanding), Tashi is also drinking the beer. Because Patrick stokes the fire in her too, brings out a part of her that Art alone doesn't.

I was thinking about this because I saw a cut scene in the script, where Tashi and Art smoke a cigarette, and I found it really interesting. Because, for one, I understand why they'd cut it, since such a big part of the artashi dynamic is restraint, repression, both pushed further into the frigid parts of their personalities, so having them do something like that without Patrick around might remove some of that. But ALSO I think it was such a good scene because they both start coughing during it, and it sort of feels like their trying to make up for Patrick's absence with each other, but they fail. They need Patrick to push them completely out of their comfort zones—or else they'll just keep toeing that line between the familiar and the unfamiliar, safety and freedom.

It makes me happy to know I’m not deviating too far from his canon personality. (Even though Boom!Shadow that…. I will ignore. IDW is a hit or miss, theres def some characterization I don’t like, and some spot on from past renditions.)

I like to think that he’s not really familiar with romantic love. It’s all pretty new to him, but that doesn’t mean Shadow isn’t completely in the dark. hehe

To me, he seems like the type of guy to begrudgingly (/p) go to Rouge and Amy for advice, tips, help. Take things nice and easy.

Shadow’s a smart guy! He can figure things out.

Look at him in SA2 when interacting with Eggman. The mysterious mild manipulation of promise granting him a wish if Egg did his bidding for Chaos emeralds. That’s just one example.

He’s also gentle and kind when he wants to be. At heart a really caring person.

Obviously, his relationship with Maria is a prime example.

There’s the instance of when Amy went to hug him from behind, mistaken for Sonic. He doesn’t push her away. Let’s it happen, stay there until she’s realized her mistake. Looking at the cutscene, it sort of looks like when she runs off, Shadow’s curious about her.

Then the time where he saves Rouge from blowing up, risking his self. It was SO close. The timing of when Shadow came to pick her up. There’s ‘06 too. Which again, I think is his best character arc. The power slide to catch Rouge from falling. OOG. I LOVE THAT SCENE SO MUCH. There’s also in heroes where he gets her to safety when Omega went berserk.

Helped out Sonic too— Most notable ones I can think of is jumping in front of Silver, allow Sonic to escape and save Elise. The other one is when the Phantom Ruby copy of him went to fuck Sonic up and he intervened. Also the entirety of Sonic Prime!

Shadow can also at the same time be a smug, prideful, little shit. Loot at that face!!! He’s so proud of himself.

Of course he’s going to distance himself from people. Imagine having someone you deeply care about die right in front of you again. There’s nothing more that could have been done to save you. Yeah, I’d avoid getting too close to people too!

After SxSh Gen, he is shown to be SO much more expressive and more open with his emotions with Maria and Professor Gerald. Spoilers ahead!

After meeting them again, he's quick to think about saving them, not thinkng about the consequences of what that may bring.

His anxiety being shown. Reassuring not only them but himself that his family will be fine. Along with actually showing his panic when they begin to disappear. The facial expression and Shadow's tone of voice. He's not hiding it at all.

GOSH THE SMILE. HIS SMILE. THE SLOW WALKING BACKWARDS, NOT WANTING TO BREAK CONTACT WITH MARIA.

As his relationship grows with his significant other, the more connected to his emotions and safe he feels to display them to you and ONLY YOU.

I definitely think comparing his personality 1 year into the relationship versus 10 years is drastic. First year, he's more cautious. Not just with his inner thoughts but with accidentally offending you. Shadow knows he can be blunt and straight forward. Over time he's so much more comfortable telling you waht is on his mind. Shadow still needs his time to brood and collect himself; however, it comes more naturally to him to reach out when needed.

Stolas, kink, and violence

This is something I've been thinking about while both having an appreciation for the nature of Stolitz's past kinky relationship and anticipating/hoping for a trend of Stolas getting more hands-on with defending himself and working alongside IMP in future seasons: I really really like that Blitz became something of a safe space for Stolas to experience pain and violence.

Like, this is a guy who's been a victim of physical abuse for a long portion of his life and who is very much feeling the impacts of that abuse on his pysche and his ability to handle conflict. Stolas clearly demonstrates on multiple occasions that he is generally uncomfortable with violent confrontation/conflict (disliking the human sacrifice/refusing to stab the cake in Apology Tour, being horrified by M&M's behavior in Sinsmas, and even the fact that he chose to intimidate the agents in Truth Seekers rather than kill them outright is a sign of this, I think). Of course, push him far enough and he will turn to violence (Andy is very punchable), but in general he has a distaste for it, particularly with respect to interpersonal relationships, that very likely stems from his trauma. So the fact that he's not only willing but excited to indulge in extreme levels of pain play with Blitz (I'll never get over fucking bear traps, my god) is very telling. Obviously, there's a whole book you could write about people processing and coping with abuse via kink that plays to elements of the abuse and I am not the person to write that book. I just wanted to take a second to really marvel at how wonderfully trusting it is of Stolas to allow that with Blitz and how amazingly Blitz must have handled it for Stolas to continually find it enjoyable. Like, as far as we know, Blitz doesn't even know about Stella's abuse - and abuse like that is a landmine-and-a-half to navigate in kink even when both partners are aware of it. So for Stolitz's kink relationship to proceed so well, when only one of them isn't in the dark about potentially triggering information - (btw Stolas, I don't blame you because I know it would've required a million different interpersonal skills that you don't have to navigate it, but it was really unsafe to not tell him at some point) -isn't just a miracle, it's a testament to how attentive of a Dom Blitz must have been (especially since Stolas absolutely gives me the vibes of the kind of sub who wants to please beyond his limits). As for what this has to do with the future, I'm very very hopeful Stolas will have a bit of a training arc, so to speak. He no longer has magic, but still very much has reasons he'll need to defend himself and as much as he enjoys the fantasy of being a damsel, I think actually being one will get old for him quickly (especially as he cares more than ever about the people who'd actually have to risk themselves to save him). Violent confrontation is something he's going to have to get relatively comfortable dealing with and participating in (and without the aid of an un-medicated mental breakdown fueling him), especially as he continues to work and associate with assassins. And who better to help him settle into that, than Blitz? The man who supported and guided him through pain and violence intimately. I could easily see a scenario where Millie is trying to teach him weapons or Moxxie is trying to instruct him on sniping and he's just viscerally uncomfortable the whole time, but the moment Blitz steps in, it eases because of that trust they've cultivated. Violence doesn't need to be flinched away from if he's facing it with Blitz. And this could easily extend to the rest of IMP as he faces more challenges with them and gains trust in them as well; likely never as much as he has with Blitz, but enough that the thought of a sparring match for fun wouldn't have him grimacing. And that's something I'd love to see. .....now as for how Blitz's own past with physical abuse and the violent nature of his life as an imp and assassin impacted his role as Stolas' Dom and shared test for extremity in the bedroom... I have no clue where to start with that one, but I know Blitz loved using those bear traps as much as Stolas did 😂😏

(Also Hey Nat!! :> Yesyes I've been well! As for my Dragon Ball s/i... I've yet to draw them but! You meet them way back when G.oku was still a kid! They're a close friend of Bulma's and eventually G.oku too! You can often see Panchi working together with B.ulma to make some new technology! Even though you most often see them bouncing around ideas and such with B.ulma, I've yet to decide what exactly they specialize in. Maybe Biology? Maybe some Botany? Programing? Idk I'll figure it out along the way-skfnsfkdnfk but they are pretty smart!

In terms of strength though, they're pretty average. But they do have quite a lot of guts sometimes! Ex. Them slapping V.ageta when they first met bc he was being mean to little G.ohan

In terms of their relationship with V.ageta... that's still a work in progress but they didn't get along to well at first. Also with the knowledge I currently have ((since I'm still in the Cell Saga)), I can guarantee you that the two had T.runks before they were in a romantic relationship. And that it'll probably be a while before those two even enter a romantic relationship in the story)

not to dsmp post in the year 2025 but ive been sitting on this take for 4 years and i have to get it out of my system. i never joined the fandom online back then when it was all happening bc of how wild the community could be sometimes but ive been sitting on this for SO long n its been long enough i think

c!ranboo was one of my absolute favourites and i loved him SO much but heavily disagreed with one thing from him

on doomsday (one of the doomsdays bc there were like 3 or something) he had that moment where he ended up yelling at everyone over taking 'sides' and why they all had to be fighting & why couldnt we all just be neutral and peaceful instead of splitting into separate distinct opposing teams etc etc etc and i can almost kind of see how hed have a point - however there are issues with that standpoint SUCH AS -

lets look at the two sides: on one you have the strongest most skilled people decked out head to toe in the most absolute top of the chain gear - c!dream, c!techno & c!phil, whose aim is to absolutely and completely decimate l'manberg with their withers and obsidian bomb dispenser they have spanning across the entirety of the whole place

on the other side you have the people who have nothing. those were just kids trying to keep their homes, and they had nothing to fight with after the other side raided all their gear and got rid of it all. they fought tooth and nail to keep their homes time and time again with the odds stacked higher and higher against them each time

imo l'manberg had 3 main people involved that really contributed to its downfall, & only one was there on doomsday - c!dream. the other two were c!wilbur & c!schlatt. they were the big 3 involved in the l'manberg politics who were adults & not children following orders/defending themselves (which is why i dont include c!tommy/c!tubbo etc in that list). they were the corrupt power hungry quote unquote "politicians" (for lack of a better word) that projected all their issues onto everyone else and dragged them all into it

(if you squint you could technically include c!eret in that list, but imo in reality they were really only just another pawn for c!dreams big game of chess as a way to pitt the opposition against each other & gain power over them, c!eret never really had actual power/rule over anyone or anything they just lived in a castle and took c!dreams word for it. also they redeemed themselves and rejoined the freedom side anyway)

lets start with c!wilbur - he was very manipulative, he liked having control & he craved power but there wasnt really an opportunity for it, so he built the van and attempted to start a potion 'empire' by seizing control over a commonly used item (brewing stands) to gain leverage over the more powerful players. he dragged other vulnerable & generally powerless people (yknow, like children) into it & used them as his building blocks to the top. c!tommy is the biggest victim of this from him. once the potion empire thing stopped working out thats when he shifted the narrative to the freedom-fighting-rebellious nation we came to know l'manberg for. he sparked that (he sparked it & the others kept it alive because they really believed in it and really believed in him) and at first i think he to an extent genuinely did believe in it and really did want freedom for him and his people with little to no other conscious intentions, but the subconscious want for power was always there and bubbled to the surface as he spiralled really far into corruption in the pogtopia arc (what started as "a special place where men can go and emancipate the brutality and the tyranny of their rulers" became "IF I CANT HAVE L'MANBERG NO ONE CAN PHIL")

then c!dream - even from before l'manberg he was fighting c!tommy over his music discs, & i guess that just cemented c!tommy as the no1 enemy in his brain for the rest of time even though c!tommy was really just a loud kid trying to get by. he was also power hungry and wanted to keep all the power he had so he felt threatened by the formation of l'manberg. other less powerful people taking some level of control & separating themselves from him startled him, especially with c!tommy involved in the opposition. he knew he was the most powerful on the server & didnt want anyone else to forget that so he consistently used fear and force to remind the others how much stronger he was than them, the main victims being l'manberg and its citizens as they were the first and biggest group to rebel against him (and the group with c!tommy in it but thats neither here nor there). he struggled to accept the idea of people having some kind of autonomy to lead a life separate from the server he ruled over (he even said blatantly he would never think of l'manberg as free, only that he would let them delusionally believe they were free in his discussion with c!tommy)

and c!schlatt was just your run of the mill big bad in your face power hungry corrupt politician. he wasnt super manipulative or anything similar to the other two, he was just an evil dude that, again, was power hungry and corrupt like c!wilbur and c!dream. he dragged others into it by using c!quackity to gain leverage in the election via votes, and by keeping the citizens of l'manberg manberg under his crazy authoritarian control and he did that pretty much mostly out of enjoyment and greed. he liked that he intimidated the people around him and frequently used that to his advantage because it amused him

it was those 3 that created the us vs them dynamic & pitted everyone else against each other by creating 'sides' because they were the ones who wanted the power, and they were the ones who dragged everyone else into their conflicts. they were greedy and self centred and made that everyones problem

ones like c!techno & c!phil arent included in that list because they were never greedy for power over other people, they were just people who happened to be powerful. they mostly just kept to themselves in their little cottages but because of the perceived rivalry that was created by the Big 3 and then projected onto everyone else, they declared l'manberg to be the problem. even though c!schlatt and c!wilbur were out of the picture by that point, their actions had left the repuatation of l'manberg tainted from the perspective of those outwith the country itself, whereas the people left behind in it (like c!tommy & c!tubbo etc etc) just saw it as their home, just the place that they lived in and had built their lives. the others outside had grown to view l'manberg as the cause for all the servers problems because of the way it separated itself from the rest of the server and was another thing, and because of the actions of the corrupted leaders itd began with (and also - l'manberg was really the only place for people to fight for power over with the political system it had set up, no one really ever challenged c!dreams position of power over the rest of the server, only within l'manberg at least until that final disc battle)

it was very much a punch up vs punch down dynamic that people like c!techno and c!phil and even c!ranboo couldnt really see, because they all lived comfortably with powerful top of the chain gear far away from all the main conflict, and none of them were actually present for the beginnings of the conflict. none of them were present to witness the disc war or the formation of l'manberg, they were never there to hear c!dream tell c!tommy that hed never see them as free from him as c!tommy handed him the disc. they joined at the height of it all where the two "sides" were already very distinct and at war with each other

c!techno joined at the point of c!schlatt being in charge of l'manberg and at that point he was helping the underdogs because in that moment c!tommy and c!wilbur asked for his help and shared his goals - to overthrow a tyrannical corrupt government. then c!wilbur, knowing full well he was right about to blow up the country within the next few minutes, shoveled all the power and responsibility of the country over onto a kid (c!tommy, who then immediately handed it back to him & then he immediately handed it over to c!tubbo). by the time c!phil joined c!tubbo was already president (& had only been for like five minutes) and c!wilbur was in the midst of blowing up the country (note - c!wilbur had the presidency and had l'manberg under his rule again, he chose to hand it off to c!tubbo and then carry out his plan to blow it up while telling c!phil "if i cant have this no one can")

c!techno was never there to see the way l'manberg itself began as a challenge to a tyrannical rule (because although c!wilbur was manipulative and corrupt and power hungry, ultimately he did have a leg to stand on with his methods which is why it worked so well for him and why he was so easily able to paint that picture of oppression - the canvas was already sketched and lined) and continued to exist as a rebellion against an even worse system than itself. at that point c!wilbur was still seen as the 'good guy' who just wanted freedom for his nation from the tyrannical authoritarian rule of c!dream, so c!schlatt suddenly coming into power was a sharp left turn government wise, and c!techno just joined right at that sharp left turn moment where the big bad evil government had just came in and made some significant differences. differences not only in the economic system of l'manberg but also tainting the core values that once held the citizens of it so high and hopeful against corruption. so c!techno never saw that rebellious freedom fighting nation that l'manberg started off as and was supposed to always be, he only saw it as the nation with the corrupt government

c!phil was in a similar situation, he also never saw it as that rebellious freedom fighting nation and only saw the damage that the power hungry corrupt people had done to it. he joined right at the crucial moment and only saw the conflict and damage surrounding the country of l'manberg. because of this he ended up adopting the perception that the place itself was the problem if it was causing this many issues this severe. he failed to notice that after c!wilbur and c!schlatt were both out of the picture the problems between l'manberg specifically and the rest of the server were only being revived on c!dreams end, and c!tubbo as the new leader of l'manberg did not start conflicts (although the butchers army is a whooole other ballgame but thats not what this post is about - that was mainly spearheaded by c!quackity- who is again a whooooole other post)

if c!tommy hadnt declined the presidency then c!dream wouldve been slightly more justified in having a go at l'manberg as a whole for the whole burning-down-c!georges-house-thing, but ultimately it seemed more like he just wanted to flex his power over them even more. just as another reminder he could tear them down any moment he wanted to without a single second thought- he used it as A. another opportunity to keep the citizens of l'manberg fearful of him (almost like a kind of "remember whos really in charge here" type deal - again think back to he & c!tommys original negotiations of freedom in the og revolution) and B. another opportunity to punch down on c!tommy specifically (exile arc is another whooooole other post), he was given an inch and he took a mile. c!tommy explicitly stated that the reason he did not take the presidency was specifically so that any business/issues with c!dream would stay exclusively between him and c!dream without dragging the rest of l'manberg into it but c!dream ignored that entirely

c!ranboo joined right at that moment, of c!dream enforcing his power over l'manberg, but he saw c!tommy technically strike first with burning down c!georges house. he didnt see all the previous strikes c!dream had made on c!tommy & l'manberg. he just saw c!tommy make a move and then saw c!dream make a move back, therefore creating a back and forth rivalry dynamic which, in his eyes, could easily just cease if theyd stop pitting against each other and lived peacefully. he doesnt seem to notice just quite how corrupt and power hungry c!dream really is especially when it comes to c!tommy and l'manberg, he only notices different people teaming up to fight against each other & not a case of oppressed vs oppressor. c!ranboo, like c!phil and c!techno has never really had too much of an issue with getting a hold of good armour and weapons and equipment, and hasnt really had anyone like c!dream stand in his way to take everything from him the way everyone in l'manberg has. c!ranboo has had issues with c!dream and has been used by him (another whooooole separate post), but he seemed to focus slightly less on the 'c!dream using any tactic available to him to enforce his power on everyone' side of things and moreso the 'what is wrong with me i need to figure out why this is possible for him to do this to me' side of things

theyve all heard about all the wars and conflicts etc from before they all joined, but they struggled to fully really empathise and actually see it from the others perspectives. this is why c!ranboo was wrong in his view on 'taking sides' on doomsday

I feel like older mike, show-verse, like mid 70s through the 90s and beyond is always stretched out on the couch or on the bed. he takes up reading and plays his guitar and enjoys relaxing because for once in his life he’s calm and secure where he is.

and sometimes one of the boys will crash there with him but davy and micky have a big habit of going to flop down on a bed with shoes on so mike has to scold them and make them take their shoes off because these are white sheets and we don’t need to take another trip to the laundromat (micky’s christmas present to all of them one year is a home washer and dryer set because the boys have always had a tendency to make a mess of stuff and, as much as they love their friend april, having to trek out just to wash stuff becomes a lot) (don’t worry, april was consulted on the choice of a washing machine so mick brought home a good one… though there have been a few Mr. Mom type incidents of something overflowing but they’ve gotten through it)

Peter tends to wear mocassins and more around-the-house type footwear over boots or tennis shoes or whatever and mike hates scolding peter so pete tends to get a pass and can cuddle with mike whenever he wants and doesn’t have to grumble and remove any items of clothing first. Micky gets it and relents, but davy is pretty pissy about it and puts up a fight just for the sake of it but mike reminds him it’s quicker to just take off your boots than to sit here and fight so davy tends to just deal with it and gets his mike time because he’s a koala baby and never leaves mikes side once he’s got him.

mike is also very warm, especially when he’s been relaxing under blankets and things, so the snuggles from him are particularly good. He’s also become less of an angular beanpole so he’s more comfortable to sit with than in some previous years.
