the first shot / 雪迷宫 is SHOCKINGLY weilan to me for a show that contains neither of these guys???
main guy is the leader of a special investigative team that makes up our main ensemble cast
the secondary guy his boyfriend is a glasses-wearing professor type with secrets, specialized knowledge, a very clear persona, and a hidden ruthlessness
also the professor guy is the best dressed out of the whole group
there's a whole Thing about the professor guy's fake pleasant smile
they live together in main guy's apartment
at one point the main guy gets told off by his superiors and his boyfriend writes his letter of apology for him

My personal ranking of the KPop Demon Hunters OST Tracks!
Disclaimer: I really like all of this OST, so the lowest doesnt mean I hate it, its just not my favorite!
Least favorite to favorite:
7. Takedown - No particular reason, I like it but it doesnt top the others.
6. Soda Pop - I really like this one! Mainly for the choreography, it's only low because I feel like it might get annoying if I listen to it too much lmaoooo. Also, I do really like the hidden messages of them being demons feeding off of their fans, saying they're "their soda pop" and that its "1000% you"- because they are quite literally consuming THEM.
5. How It's Done - Awesome- and I mean KICKASS- intro to this movie. It was really giving badass, which is part of why I think that Takedown maybe wasn't the best because this one did what that one was doing so much better imo.
4. Golden - REALLY LOVED THIS ONNNEEEE. It was so poppy, and the vocals were so good. It opens the door for the core of what the movie delivers. Imperfections, though this song acknowledges them and claims to own them, Rumi is still hidden and conflicted (with the lyric of what they swear by as hunters sprinkled in).
🥉3. Your Idol - The choreo and vocals were NASTY. These mfs would've gotten my soul deadass. It's a perfect balance of blatant manipulation and using someone while also being seductive and sweet enough to trick into a sense of love or acceptance. It's like the Saja Boys siren song, and I LOVE what it does.
🥈2. Free - This one was so sweet and cute- it really was an understanding between Rumi and Jinu, and I LOVED seeing them conflicted and connecting! Especially through music, the weapon that they're both using to combat each other. Their music comes together here, though, and for a moment its like they're connecting via the very thing that separates them: the Honmoon.
🥇1. What It Sounds Like - This one is up here because 1. VOCALS WOOOAAAHHHH. And 2. It has such a beautiful message. The come together song of Huntrix, the acceptance of each other's flaws that Golden points out, but instead Rumi leads with finally acknowledging these flaws and accepting herself, trusting the rest of Huntrix and her fans to accept her. "show me what's underneath, ill find your harmony" - "The song we couldn't write, this is what it sounds like" so very MUCH delivers a message that even transcends past the film and its characters and delves into the K-Pop Industry and how flaws are hidden and "perfection" is something constantly pushed- but these characters are breaking through 'that', however its shown in the plot - "But now we're seeing all the beauty in the broken glass" - This being the last song in the film was really THE choice. It ties the message of beauty in imperfections that the movie conveys beautifully, so that's REALLY why it's up here for me.

@phoenixremix69 said this on this post:
i really hope [tori] doesn't corrupt sakura and now she's reading trashy porn of her sensei
and actually i have been rotating tori & team 7 a bit (this post is largely NOT about reading bad erotica novels)
point the first: the wave mission-to-chunin exam arc is meant to be a turning point in tori as like, coming into her own as a ninja. almost everything she does up into this point is stuff she could have feasibly done as a civilian, or else something she felt massively uncomfortable about
the end results of the wave mission is team 7 comes out thinking tori is....... kind of cool? tori calls the missing-nin's boss in front of sakura and then tells sakura "don't do things the way every says they should be done, do them they way that works. there's infinite ways to skin a cat" and sakura feels her third eye start to creak open. it's the first time naruto has seen fuuinjutsu applied in a practical way that's not just (whta he perceives to be) his parents fucking around, and also the first time he's sensed that if he can figure out what tori is saying, it's actually maybe sort of cool. sasuke has been told more than once by his brother than tori should always be ignored, unless it's life-or-death, in which case sasuke should do exactly what tori says* and he finally gets wtf that means
*tori has agreed that sasuke should live at all costs or else itachi will lose his mind. itachi has accept that tori probably cannot stop herself form trying to trick a cute kid into walking into a screen door, but she will do insane things to keep sasuke alive. that's romance baby
also i guess my Vision for the final confrontation was Zabuza/Haku?/Zombie Combi vs Tori + Team 7. i might change the choreo but basically i think tori largely doesn't monologue/say cool lines but what she DOES do is
tori @ kakashi, realizing hidan is probably the the deadliest if you don't know his jutsu: i'm going to take the one with light hair, and then help you with the rest
kakashi, pretending not to be serious even though he's panicking: maa, i wonder why you're the one making the calls?
hidan: BITCH WE CAN HEAR YOU????
tori, attempting to communicate with both at once: you know that when i say i'll do something, i'll make it happen, no matter what god you pray to about it
and then naruto goes home and is like "and then tori siad THIS AWESOME THING--" and tori is like "NOOOO WHY DID I SAY THAAAAAT"
anyway! sakura. sakura is like "i have found someone to look up to" and kakashi is like "please don't" but then the chunin exams come around and actually what IF kakashi let tori train sakura
and i was thinking, in a blatant move for me to work through a lot of the gripes i have with strong!sakura fics..... so sakura's first tournament match is against neji. so i was thinking maybe she goes over to team gai to tell him she's looking forward to their match. she doesn't really mean it; she's kind of afraid of him. but lee likes her and gai and her sensei are friends, and she feels like it's polite. and neji is going through his moody thirteen year old phase and he's like: i'm not looking forward to it. you're clearly the weakest on your team and i don't think you're a serious ninja. look at you. did you waste your time bringing lip gloss to this exam?
and sakura's been having self esteem issues because like. in this au she's really the odd-man out on her team, and she doesn't really have anything special going for her, and that's just..... is she a serious ninja?
and i want tori to be like: sakura, how many hours a week do you train and do physical conditioning? how many hours to do you spend studying and meditating? you're fine
tori: a lot of people act like if you're not constantly training, you're wasting your time. but overworking your body is worse for you than not training at all
sakura: but--
tori: and who fucking cares if you like make-up? most kunoichi wear make-up. the handbook has recommendations for a minimal make-up travel pack to carry for undercover work, and it ALSO recommends cultivating hobbies for mental health reasons. there's nothing wrong with make-up and it could even help you. plus if you didn't wear make-up, he'd just criticize you for not being womanly enough
sakura: but--
tori: if he looks down at you for wearing lip gloss, then it'll just make him all the more surprised when he's missing his skin
sakura: wait what
anyway i don't think sakura starts reading tori's erotica. i think she tells tori all the COOL pre-teens read this other series, and tori goes off and buys a copy. it's really compelling. itachi, what do you think about--

cinderellas castle is so fucking good guys. rewatching it again. james tolbert as the prince oh my GOD he’s so funny him and tadius are such a good duo and TADIUS?! oh the nine good gods he is so good. he’s so genuine and done with everyone’s shit and he probably killed the king but don’t even worry about it. him and ella’s scenes go crazy. ELLA? sorry evil vitriolic cinderella whose “i want” song is about outliving those who have wronged her so she can dance on their graves? who is deeply kind despite it all? who saved something as small as a frog? who has lost everything in life and still keeps going? who fucking dies but returns from the rage of the goddess bound to their house? and is fire and starlight and beauty and rage? like her mother before her? who seduced royalty not out of want for the crown but so that those who she hates cannot? who lives the most horrifying scenario every day of her life? whose stepmother is a monster covered in the stitched skins of others? THE STEPMOTHER?! oh my god hello diva. she works so well as an antagonist she’s both scary and cunty in a perfect villainous ratio. angela absolutely kills as her and she is as delightful as she is terrifying. rancilda and putrice<3 they are SO funny and SO charming that i don’t even care that they’re wearing the skins of ella’s dead friends ok they’re just my trash teenage daughters whom i adore. i really love their sibling dynamic that’s how it GOES i fear. rancilda x the prince for REAL. crumb and sir hop-a-lot are whimsy incarnate and i love them dearly. kim whalen as the fairy queen of sweet dreams puts the mother back in fairy godmother. what a beautiful gorgeous life changing show. the narrator and ragweed rockhammer serve as delightful characters narrators and audience members to ella’s story and jeff blim should wear all the eyeliner in the world. the songs the choreo the SET?! the lighting the tech aspects the delivery the actors the pit (hello whipporwills i love you thank you for being awesome also i LOVE it when a musical introduces the pit members hell yeah common band kid W) the world building the emotion the puppets the magic the whimsy the pure unfiltered starkidiness of it all. easily tops off an already extensive and impressive catalogue of shows and makes me so excited to see what they’ll whip up next, in these lands or others

Collide - Part 3

<<prev | series masterlist | next>>
Pairing: Non-Idol!Dancer!Hyunjin x Dancer!Fem!Reader
Other Characters: Non-Idol!bff!Minho, Non-Idol!Jisung, Non-Idol!Dancer!Felix mentioned
Summary: Tension? Between our rivals? In this economy?
Genre: fluff?, rivals to lovers
Content warnings: it’s suggestive if you squint
Word Count: 1,658
A/N: I wanted to write more, but the chapter felt finished like this and I am mentally not in a place where I can disagree with my own writing, so…enjoy?
Tumblr media
“Well, damn!”, Minho said, approvingly eying the brownie you’d just put in his hand. “I know right?!”, you agreed with a grin, “Felix brought them to celebrate making it to the next round.” Minho smiled at you. “I’m very proud of you, you know that, right?” You felt yourself blush a little and playfully punched him in the arm. “No, I mean it. We didn’t put you in first place for nothing. You really stood out!” “Hyunjin sure didn’t think so”, you mumbled, remembering the very unpleasant interaction of the previous night.
“Has he been bothering you again today?” Minho furrowed his brows. “Actually, he didn’t. He was super quiet. It was kinda weird”, you replied, recalling the events of the day. You’d gotten into the studio early, with Minho. After warming up, you’d met with your fellow remaining contestants for practice to learn the new choreo, that each and every one of you would have to perform on your own. And, as always, you’d gotten it wrong a few times before finally getting through it with no errors. Hyunjin had, as always, gotten it right much quicker than you. He was a very quick study in that regard, and he would usually mock your slower pace, but today there had been nothing like that.
You didn’t trust it. He’d just thrown downright coy looks your way, as if he was ashamed or embarrassed of the previous night still. And whenever he’d come close to you for one reason or another, it had seemed as if he’d been holding his breath. “He seemed to feel uneasy around me”, you said to Minho. A smirk washed over his face, almost too quickly gone for you to see it - almost. “And what’s your take on that?”, he asked. You shrugged. “I don’t know. At least when he was being an ass, I knew what to expect. Now I don’t know anything.”
“Is that my boyfriend and his girlfriend I see?” Jisungs voice had both of you turn your heads towards the door, where Minho’s boyfriend stood, door handle still in hand, grinning from ear to ear. You had, of course, told Minho about what happened on the way home and he had, of course, told Jisung, who had, of course, texted you a ridiculous amount of memes about it. You had not stopped thinking about Hyunjin’s words, truthfully, and part of you wondered, if this misconception was part of why Hyunjin had always treated you so poorly. Until today, that was.
Your mind returned to reality, as you watched Jisung enter the practice room with his signature playful energy. It was quite a unique view, as he didn’t usually come by the studio. Minho liked to keep his work and private life separate, but tonight was special. Tonight was their anniversary and Minho had prepared a dance for Jisung. To one of Jisung’s songs no less. You knew, because you had seen Minho practice in his limited free time, and you had almost cried watching him express with his movements, what he could never put into words.
“Hey Ji”, you said, opening your arms for him to run right into. Minho smirked, always amused by how cuddly the two of you were. “You wanna try the brownie?” You motioned at the piece of cake in Minho’s hand. “You do”, Minho said, immediately handing it to Jisung. “What’s this? Anniversary brownies? Did you bake in secret while I was sleeping or something?” You giggled and Minho couldn’t hide a smile. “No, Felix made them”, you explained, “You know, Hyunjin’s friend? The nice one?” “Ah, yeah, right, I remember.” Jisung took a bite of the brownie, his eyes growing big with approval. “Fuck, these are awesome!” You smiled, as Minho wiped a bit of chocolate from Jisung’s chin. “I’ll let him know you liked them”, you said, “and I’ll leave you two to it now. I should get home anyways. Enjoy the performance, Ji.”
***
The empty hallway felt eerie, almost creepy. It was so late that there was basically nobody left in the studio. You had trained for longer than you usually would today, but you wanted to be fully prepared to kick Hyunjin’s ass in the second round of the competition. And you’d seen him train all day as well, at least out of the corner of your eye. He was so good, you still wondered if you really deserved that first spot, or if there was some truth to Hyunjin’s accusations. You shook your head, forcing yourself to push the thoughts away.
Exhaustion had started to set in your bones, and you just wanted to grab your bag and head home. You’d be back soon enough tomorrow, dancing until your feet bled - metaphorically. Or maybe literally, who knew? You’d been in first place once and you’d do anything to stay there, even if it was just to see the look on Hyunjin’s face when you beat him again. When you neared the practice room in which you’d left your bag, you could hear music coming from the other side of the door. It was the song for the solo choreo. But it was so late, you’d thought all the other dancers had already left. Who could possibly still be here? Still practicing this late?
You slowly opened the door and stepped into the room, eyes on the dancer spinning around in the middle of it. Hyunjin. He was so lost in his dance, he didn’t even notice you standing there. But you noticed him. You noticed everything about him. You noticed how his movements looked like water and fire and ice. How his body moved with the elegance of a cat and the energy of a thunderstorm. How there was emotion in each move, a deadly precision in the way he accentuated the choreography. Watching Hyunjin dance was mesmerising, almost hypnotic. He was so beautiful, so fluid yet sharp, so powerful yet soft. And to your detriment, he also was incredibly attractive.
When the music stopped, you didn’t notice it at first. You didn’t notice anything for a good moment, just staring at your rival panting, his skin glistening with sweat. But then his eyes locked onto yours, as he noticed your gaze, and suddenly the silence in the room felt heavy, the air thickening with every passing second. Hyunjin moved towards you, slowly, as if he was scared to run you off. The closer he came, the faster your heart was beating. Carefully, he closed the distance between you, until he was so close, you had to lift your head to keep eye contact. So close that you could feel his ragged breath on your skin and smell the delicious scent of his sweat soaked body.
You were so lost in his ethereal energy, that you almost didn’t fully realise it - you were alone with him. Hyunjin was alone with you. There was nobody watching, nobody to step in, nobody to prevent whatever would be happening next. From the corner of your eye you could see movement. Hyunjin was raising his hand, his fingers ghosting over your face, almost touching your skin, but not quite. You felt a yearning rise up inside you, wanting him to touch you, to feel his fingertips trace over your cheek, to have him send shivers down your spine. You felt yourself blushing, but it wasn’t with embarrassment - it was with arousal. It was with desire. And there was something more, something in your heart that you were not ready to face just yet.
Hyunjin opened his mouth, his plush lips parting in the most tempting way, and for a moment you thought he’d say something. But he didn’t. He just looked at you. He stared at you with an almost unsettling intensity, his eyes wandering over your face, scanning every inch of it, resting on your lips for a moment too long. There was a tingling sensation in your stomach, accompanied by the urge to close the distance between your bodies. You took a tentative step forward, a step that was almost not possible due to how close you were already standing to him. His eyes widened at your movement, your heart beating in your ears now. “Hyune”, you whispered, so lost in the moment, that you didn’t even think to use his full name.
But that was just it - you were not using his full name. You were way too close to him, way too close to Hyunjin. Hyunjin, who had been nothing but mean to you ever since you started dancing at the studio. Hyunjin, who had not once rooted for you in any way, shape or form. Hyunjin, whose comment had practically been the last straw, causing you to full on panic before the first competition round. Hyunjin, who had accused your best friend of cheating you into first place. This was the man in front of you. This was the man you were too close to. What the fuck were you doing?
You took an abrupt step back, the tension snapping like a rubber band. It took you another moment to pry your eyes away from his, and another moment to control your breath, since you just now noticed that you were panting. Neither of you spoke, the silence in the room now a different kind of heavy, as you rushed to grab your bag. Hyunjin just kept standing there, frozen and staring at you. He looked a bit like a lost puppy, but you forbade yourself from letting any form of sympathy creep into your heart. Instead, you gave him your best death glare, before hurrying out of the room, the studio and into the cold night.
When the fresh night air hit your face, you stopped for a moment to take a deep breath. What the fuck had just happened? And why the fuck did you want it to happen again?

The Old Guard 2
Immediate Review: [MASSIVE SPOILERS]
The first one was better but here’s what I liked and disliked.
Liked:
- That whole sequence of Andy on her way to see Quynh where it’s moving through the eras. Stunning. A+. No notes
- honestly their entire first conversation where they’re walking on ice round each other is awesome
- Immortal Husbands being amazing as always. Love that Nicky got to have the love declaration speech this time
- The fight choreo was still very good
EH:
- Tuah is an interesting addition but he’s a little lore breaky so idk how to feel about that (How did Joe, Nicky & Booker not know about him if immortals dream of each other before they meet). Also, if Tuah was doing what Copley did, why didnt that inspire Andy to keep fighting on?
- Nile being the last immortal. I preferred the theory that immortals lose their immortality if they’ve truly given up on everything.
- Discord, a pretty eh villain. I mean, I know Merrick wasn’t the most complex villain but he got the job done and his reasonings made sense. Discord hasn’t really been fleshed out all that much, yet.
- Booker dying. I feel like he deserved a better send off but I do think him giving Andy his immortality once he worked out how to do it is completely in character.
Didn’t like:
- that ending. TOG3 hasn’t been confirmed yet so for all we know that’s it. I would have preferred a completed self-contained movie.
- Quynh losing her immortality. Just, why? We just got her back. I want her to stick around for longer especially after Andy got hers restored. And I stg if the husbands give their immortality up for the wives in the next movie I’m going to hit someone with a brick.
- It being as simple as Nike giving someone a flesh wound. A mortal wound would make more sense and then that wound heals but no other (Andy did heal from that stab wound!) because you’re telling me it’s been 6 months and Nike hasn’t accidentally grazed Joe or Nicky while training or something?
- Quynh & Andy resolving their differences in a montage of scenes. We deserved more conversations between them.
- no gay kiss??? Immortal gays??? But no kiss???
- what made TOG1 so great wasn’t the action but the great character conversations and we got less this time around. We should have had more and a longer runtime.
If TOG 1 is an 8.5/10, TOG2 is a 6.5/10. But we gotta get the numbers up so a sequel gets greenlit!
I NEED ALL THE FIX IT FANFICTION! And possibly might do some rewriting myself because oooooh that ending has me stewing

As happy as I am about Kpop Demon Hunters, there's waaay to much English in these songs, which was one of my fears going into this. Like, it's freaking awesome as a whole, but Netflix and western media really knows how to water down culture. As a kpop fan since 2015, I used to have to look up lyrics to understand the song because it was mostly used for the chorus and it was only a phrase at best, but that never took away from the voices, the choreo or the concepts to be enoyable.

CATS at The Fulton: Non-Spoiler Excitement
Hello, Friends! I'm so sorry I've been quiet. I am on a MASSIVE deadline for my book and Monday I am BACK to the theatre. If you're on Instagram, you might have seen some of the exciting things popping up, set being built, things I've been excited about since our interview meeting and seeing the set renderings, when I broke professionalism and declared, "OH PLEASE HIRE ME, THIS IS SO AWESOME!" **Note to people looking for jobs in general: Don't do what I did. I was very aware we were getting hired, being told the plot and shown the renderings was the cement, and I read the room very well so I knew the joke would fly.
SO, how do I hype you up without spoiling things? Let's give it a go.
Going into The Fulton, be aware that the director/choreographer Marc Robin is a CATS expert. He was supposed to be Skimbleshanks in the original Vienna production, and he auditioned for Misto on Broadway. He also directed/choreographed the first production of CATS licensed after it closed on Broadway at The Marriott, and has done it a total of 9 times before us
His assistant director/choreographer and make up designer, Joey Abramowicz, was one of the original Tumbles on Tour V, having only SIX days to learn the show. He is hardcore--the early Tour V and ALL of the Tour IV people are the same. I don't know how else to describe it. They are smart, they are kind, they are strict (in the BEST way/I respect this so much), and absolute BEAST-mode about everything (which is one of the biggest compliments I can give).
So, we've established that our two people in charge are absolutely BRILLIANT and incredibly versed CATS-folk, right? Right, okay.
THE SET: Take it in. Take all of it in. When you come to the theatre, outside... look at the windows. If you are able to come early, look around the lobby. It is HUGE. The theatre is so big, there is a 2nd black box theatre inside it. It is gorgeous. ... and there will be some cool stuff. Brush up on your CATS lore and if you see signs, is there a hidden message? Are there other hints?
THE CHARACTERS: There is a cast of 36 plus 2 swings. At most, there are 35 characters onstage at the same time. That is a LOT.
While the characters have the same heart, there absolutely ARE some changes to go with the plot*.
I ask you to keep an open-mind because it's utterly brilliant. For fans of romances, you will see ships you've never seen before. As we start during PRIDE, we are filled with pride. There are lifts that are m/f, f/f, and m/m. There are a few established relationships, and some that flitter in-and-out just for one magical night.
Come in with an open mind and be prepared to love characters in a way you've never loved them before.
I know people have favorite characters (me too!) and ships (me too!), and that's a BIG ask to go with the ride... but it is SO worth it. I think fans will REALLY like the twins.
THE PLOT: is COHESIVE AF. That and the rendering were SO smart and good, it's why I broke professionalism (again, do NOT do what I did... I've done this a long time, I know how to read the room, I knew the joke would fly and we had the job).
If you go with a friend who "doesn't like CATS," they will.
If you go with a friend who "doesn't understand CATS," they will.
Watch the acting. Watch the plot. Watch the choreo. Watch the set. Listen to the story. Go, "Wtf, why wasn't THIS the original?" because it makes more sense.
It's hilarious. It's emotional. It's exciting. It's sometimes terrifying!
CHOREOGRAPHY: Incredible. I can't say more without spoilers except HOW?
THE CAST: Out of this world. Sara Shepard as Grizzabella might be one of the smartest castings I've ever seen for Grizz, ever, and Will Mann's Deuteronomy made me cry through rehearsal video (some of you might have seen him as Hermes in Hadestown). Some CATS alumni, TONS of Broadway folk, but a real treat is that we have a Tour IV CATS Alumni... the one and only JAMES (not author) PATTERSON. He was Munkustrap on Tour IV, closing it out. He has played Tugger (with Marc and Joey). He will be playing Bustopher and Gus/Rumpus, and he is DELIGHTFUL.
COSTUMES: I am waiting for the go-ahead on what I can share. Some actors took pics with costume pieces in the background (please keep in mind, wigs are NOT styled/out of the box... yes, there's a difference).
Every costume, EVERY COSTUME I repeat, has something hidden in it. There will definitely be a major in 3 characters' collars... it will become obvious when the third is there.
We spent forever on these costumes and we are STILL working. We will continue to work from Monday through opening.
REPEAT ATTENDERS: Every show will be different. No, I can't say why. That'd be a spoiler. But they're rehearsing it and sometimes it's so funny, everyone breaks character laughing.
I am so thrilled you guys get to see this wonderful show. If you're on the fence, it's worth it. The Thursday before opening (June 12) has a Pay-what-you-can preview performance, and there are gallery seats for $33.

Little notes about the Cats International Tour show in D-Dorf, Germany:
Mostly just for me to remember... Honestly this is probably not new information, the tour has been going for a while after all.
Extended Tap Solo in Gumbie Cat!!! Also Munkustrap I love u (did not participate in the tap dancing, instead electing to sit extremely pretty on the tire - that's right king you deserve a break after singing so good and being leggy all over the stage)
Tugger went HARD on the ad-libbing and falsetto, it was AWESOME. But German crowds don't really holler or whistle or stuff, so he unfortunately tried to get a cheer twice mid song unsuccessfully
Misto seemed so genuinely offended during Tugger's number lmao. No contact of any kind after his line, just the leggy choreo, and during the bonus dancing at the end, when the group came towards the car where he was perched, he swiped at them and didn't join in
Tugger physically covered Rumpleteazers mouth with his hand/paw (instead of blowing a kiss)
They did the "He's a fiend in feline shape - a monster of depravity depravity depravity" thing that Broadway does after the second Macavity Scare
Jellicle Ball was mostly the original choreo iirc. But no Misto hiding behind Old-Deut and shaking at the start of it
Plato and Victoria were amazing. Really beautiful lines during the lift, and went in and out of it with zero trouble. Victoria's solo at the start was also insanely good, extremely high extensions without ANY shakiness
When the cats came back in towards the end of the intermission, Bombalurina greeted meeee (and as previously mentioned Munkustrap hissed at me). Skimble stayed mostly on the floor and did a few roly-polys. Munkustrap creeped up behind some audience members and stuck his head between them from behind, and also let a few kids touch him - although he was wearing his serious face the entire time
It was unfortunately really unclear if we were allowed to film or not during that part - at some point, when the lights were still on an usher said to not do it anymore, but since the cast deliberately interacted with some of the people who did, it was quite confusing.
Gus did his Peke & Pollicles with Music From Growltiger thing - "mystic Chinese" line, no Bagpipes for Tugger but he did HOWL LIKE A WOLF during the parts were the Pollicles were supposed to bark and strutted around on the Pekes half of the stage.
Skimbleshanks was amazinggg!!! Because the theatre is so small, the train light really illuminated some people in the audience - Misto, who was holding the light, waved at them excitedly
Bomba and Demeter were SO SO SO SO SO SO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. They were so. Just. So.
Macavity fight choreo was cool! Alonzo struggled a bit to get into position during his lift but the rest really flowed nicely. Demeter was not lifted, but dragged.
Tugger said "Felines and Friends" again!! I know it's been pretty much standard for the tour for a few years but it makes me happy every time
Misto flew in diagonally from the side rather than lowering straight down - it was hard to see what kind of rigging he had but he looked very poised and elegant mid air
Misto's jacket seemed to have an issue - only one half was lit up.
Misto did NOT high five, low five Tugger, although it seemed like Tugger wanted to and was dismissed - lol. He did link arms with him, do the mirror dance and whisper in his ear no problem though. These two seem to be very hot and cold this time around
Misto interacted with Teazer and Mungo for a bit before freezing them, making them look stumbly and woozy
Memory gave me goosebumps.
Singular Note on Bows: Munkustrap did a slide, it was so cool?
As for post-bows: I was very distracted because Skimble was dancing his ass off right in front of me (at first he pulled a serious face and was kinda being low-key, and then he smiled and pulled out the moves), but I did see Munkustrap lift Misto princess style and twirl him, and Misto also linked hands with Jenny and Gus and danced in a circle like kids with them. Munkustrap did the shoulder shimmies with someone.
I unfortunately didn't manage to pay much attention to passing background interactions during the numbers - generally, Deme and Bomba were together, unsurprisingly, and Misto played with Plato a few times I think. Tugger seemed very sweet with Munkustrap and with Gus and Old Deut.
The Capitol Theatre is kinda small - there's not a lot of passageways in the audience, the fairy lights were spread over a good third of maybe even half of it and even the stage seemed smaller to me... Sometimes cats were honestly clambering over each other. It was cute
That's it.

Tmr as dancers headcanon
Thomas:
- Hip-hop
- can get quite agressive during battles
- charisma wins every battle for him
- happens to attend ballet
- fascinated by the blond lead
- waits until the audience is almost gone to express his astonishment directly to him
- this wasn't their only conversation ;)
- after Newt gets seriously injured, helps him recover, deal with depression and build up a new life
- literally doesn't step an inch away from him, even when the blond says he's fine
Newt:
- ballet
- seriously dedicated and hardworking
- always nervous before performances, but when music starts he's so into the dance he wakes up only when the applause thunder
- noticed that brunet in the front raw cheering quite energetically
- had a brief conversation with him, and felt like wanted more
- and they had more, talks turned into dates, cafés, then at each other's houses and it became something more
- though Newt thought it was ridiculous he ended up with a hip-hop dancer
- a terrible incident left him with a limp
- just when he fell, the first instinct was to call Tommy, and only then 911
- is really broken and insecure but greatful for Thomas's help
- never felt safer in anyone's arms but Thomas's
- came to be part time barista and a musician in a local band
- always comes to Tommy's performances
Minho:
- break
- never misses a chance to show off some cool moves
- looks soooo confident but actually really nervous, always asking his girlfriend, Teresa, if he did good
- surely he did awesome. as usual. duh
- crosses paths with Thomas quite often
- they share some tricks/exercises/moves with each other
- these tricks often are a game changer for both of them in battles
- black&red clothes
- wears cap backwards and lookes hot af in it, but secretly hates wearing it because his hair looks so much cooler just like that
- organized sleepovers with newtmas boys when blond got injured
- likes competing with Gally best, although it's often hella hard
- doing choreos together
- that one guy that always does something rushed and stupid, ending up on the floor and everyone laughing their asses off
Gally
- breaker
- not really into it, just dancing for fun
- Thomas once won him in sypher, so now they are kind of enemies
- text Newt to get well soon, but other than that isn't much of a friendly talker
Sonya:
- is on Thomas's hip-hop team
- mocks Newt calling him "princess pretty skirt", but secretly admires his dedication and discipline
- is broken whem Newt gets his injury, doesn't attend any rehearsals
- which rarely take place since Thomas as the leader spends all of his time with Newt
- Sonya has to work part time to make up for both their lost jobs
- goes to Harriet to cry, so that Newt doesn't have to see her in that state since he's not good himself
Harriet:
- contemporary
- teaches students all the time
- loves different drills for difficult moves
- best friends with Sonya
- shares dance secrets with her
- gives advice to Newt as how to recover faster
Aris:
- no style in particular, just attends various workshops
- is that one shy kid in the corner but rocks it on stage
- is more flexible than anyone in the class
- has a crush on Sonya
- attends all the team's performances
- barely works up the courage to ask her to show him some cool moves
- end up in the movies
Frypan:
- chills on different workshops
- is on Thomas's team
- just enjoys the dance, no competition, just the vibes
- calms Thomas down when he's furious with poor lighting or music or that random guy that stared in his phone the whole time
- organizes celebrations after the team's big wins in his house with self-made fancy meals
- everyone enjoying the food holy shit so much
- advises Sonya on a healthy diet
- "bettet feel well and eat tasty, than get ill and look like a stick"
Alby:
- old man in dance industry
- hip-hop, break and variations
- has his own school that is really hard to get into
- is widely respected
- Thomas often comes to him for advice
- not so fond of Greenies but helps anyway
- old, old grumpy man
- but with a nice sense of humor
- doesn't say, but thinks that Thomas's team's really talanted
- and reckless, more often than not
- but that's the attractive part
- stands in the back so that no-one recognizes him and dancers don't get nervous

“My little muse.”
ooc: so I guess this is that sleepy rp, hm? /silly
Odysseus, having learned he was rather light over these past few weeks, thanks to both the constant lifting from anons and his star, was resting atop Tiresias. His head was turned as though listening to a nonexistent heartbeat, arms wrapped around the prophet while their tail swayed lazily behind them. The silence was peaceful, as it always was when surrounded by Tiresias.
[ Tir was sat, holding their love with gentle care and subtle affection ]
[ in the silence—perfect and beautiful (just like their love)—they rubbed Ody’s back, with their other arm snug around his waist ]
[ it was nice, and with no intention to disrupt the silence, they laid there peacefully with them wrapped safely in their arms ]

YOU BLINKED AND HERE I AM WITH ANOTHER SICKFIC (a little drabble, but an interesting one)
🦄 So I was watching the recent SKZ talker right and there was this scene (I’ll link it) and I got this idea. So it’s after one of their performances and they’re all really exhausted. So I thought, imagine him feeling really really dizzy and nauseous so you tell him that it’s probably because he hasn’t eaten so you sit down next to him while he eats. But he doesn’t stop feeling sick to he tells you that he’s going to the bathroom and leaves for a while but then he texts you saying he needs you to come to him. When you get there you ask him what’s wrong and he asks you to help him throw up.
Thank you, dear Liza! For making this cute header, I loved it 💜🥹
Tumblr media
120% EFFORT
To say their choreographies were hard was an understatement. They never ceased to amaze you when it came to performances. And for this last comeback? S-Class? Sometimes you got yourself wondering if they were really humans and what went through their mind when creating such hard choreos.
You were watching as they recorded for one of the music shows over and over again, and couldn't help but feel amazed and tired for them. Unfortunately they had to record this several times if there was even the tiniest mistake, given how perfectionist they were.
Your eyes were glued on Hyunjin, he always gave 120% on his dance no matter how tired or injured he was, as you had already seen before.
He looked absolutely amazing and mesmerizing and everytime you thought to yourself that the take was perfect, they did it one more time. It was safe to say that they recorded at least 5 times.
When they finally managed to get the perfect stage, everyone was sweating as if water had been poured on them and were completely out of breath.
You were waiting for Hyunjin in the dressing room along with the staff and cheered when the boys entered the room. They were all out of breath and clearly tired but had sincere smiles across their faces nonetheless.
You ran to Hyunjin hugging him and kissing him as you congratulated him on another amazing performance.
- Honey! That was awesome!
- Thank you babe.
You were happy but you noticed right away when you got close to him that something seemed off, he was sweating too much and was a little bit pale.
- You okay?
- Yeah...I just feel really dizzy...and sick...
- You're probably tired. You danced five times in a row. And you haven't eaten much today right?
- hm...
- Then let's eat.
- Okay .
Hyunjin was feeling nauseous but also hungry, and those two feelings were fighting watch other inside his stomach and he wasn't happy about that. But he knew that not eating anything would just worsen the nausea he was already feeling.
You handed him a packed lunch and sat down next him with the boys for a well-deserved meal. Just like their choreographies, it also amazed you how much these boys could eat. Which wasn't a surprise given how much they danced and worked, and it also explained why they didn't gain as much weight.
They kept chatting about the performance and how STAYs were really excited even if they were watching the same stage more than once.
But Hyunjin was quiet, he just ate slowly engaging in the conversation every so often. You noticed it and also did the boys.
- Hyune-ah, you okay?
- Hm? Yeah.
He said looking up and chewing his food. He looked way too cute even though he was clearly not that well.
- You sure? You look off...
- I'm just tired...
The boys went back to the conversation and you kept eating and looking at Hyunjin, noticing how he still looked pale and sweaty.
He was feeling horrible, something wasn't right. His stomach was gurgling and the nausea wasn't going away, no matter how much he ate or drink, that awful feeling just insisted on lingering around.
He felt something weird in his stomach, it wasn't pain but it also felt too strange to be nausea but he knew he needed to go to the bathroom. He put down whatever he was eating and wiped his hands, that were starting to tingle a little.
- I'm gonna go to the bathroom...
- Hm? Okay.
He grabbed his phone and left. In the hallway to the bathroom he started praying that it didn't have anybody there, he didn't want to be sick in front of people. But before he got to the bathroom, what he was feeling in the dressing room had gotten a bit worse. The tingling sensation in his hands had increased, his stomach felt heavy and his breathing was strange, he felt out of breath as if he has just gotten off stage and his vision had black dots.
Shit! Am I gonna faint?
That's what crossed his mind, he needed to get to that bathroom quickly. He just turned around the corner and entered the bathroom and went straight into one of the stalls and closed it behind him.
He lost strength in his legs and kneeled in front of the toilet, the weird feeling in his stomach increased ten fold and he ducked his head in the toilet as a harsh gag cut through his body but nothing came out. He started feeling cold and hot at the same time, he felt cold sweat soaking his outfit and he was sure his makeup was melting off his face.
Another strong wave of nausea made him gag unproductively again and it just kept adding strain to his already tired body.
The dual feeling of burning and being cold got worse, his hands and mouth were tingling and his stomach kept feeling weird. He managed to stand up a little, only to stumble to the wall next to him, thank God for that wall, and then faint.
You were starting to get worried, it had been a few minutes since he left and he still hadn't come back.
- Y/n, where's Hyunjin?
- He said he was going to the bathroom.
- Is he okay?
- I hope so...
A few minutes later you got a text from him:
- babe. Can you come here?
- What happened?
- I'm not feeling well.
- Okay. Hold on.
- Shit!
You cursed under your breath and the boys noticed.
- what's wrong?
- Hyunjin just texted me. He said he's not feeling well.
- Really?
- I'll go see what's wrong. I'll text you guys.
- okay
-IN THE BATHROOM A FEW MINUTES BEFORE-
Hyunjin slowly regained consciousness, his ears were still ringing and his vision was fuzzy. Thankfully he didn't fall on the ground, he managed to slid down the wall on a sitting position.
Along with the confusion of trying to take in his surroundings and taking control back of his body, his stomach felt even worse than before with a strong wave of nausea suddenly ripping through him making him stumble to the toilet just in time for a harsh gag bring up an insignificant amount of saliva and bile, considering how miserable he felt.
He kept kneeling in front of the toilet, trying to expell whatever was revolting inside him in failed attempts.
He tried gag forcefully and contract his stomach but nothing was working and the nausea persisted.
At some point he gave up, he felt miserable and in pain, his head was pounding and he still felt faint, so he decided to text you, he needed you by his side and your help.
- NOW -----
You ran to the bathroom as soon as you got the text and you didn't care if it was the men's restroom.
You entered and started calling Hyunjin, who answered weakly signaling he was at the last stall.
- Babe, I'm coming in.
You opened the door to find Hyunjin sitting down on the floor, leaning against the wall looking as white as the wall itself. His forehead was damp with sweat and he was shaking a little.
- Oh my god! Hyune! What happened baby!?
You said as you kneeled in front of him.
- I...I felt something weird in my stomach...I came here and tried to throw up but I ended up fainting...
- why didn't you tell me before you left the room?
- I don't know...I'm sorry...
- No, do not apologize.
You grabbed his hands and noticed how cold they felt.
- Babe....My stomach....
- what is it?
- I want to throw up...but I tried to and nothing's coming up...and the nausea just won't go away....help me, please.
- Okay. I'll help you.
You helped him position himself kneeling in front of the toilet while you stood by his side. His hair was already tied up from the stage so you could focus yourself on his stomach.
His mouth was filling up with saliva and kept spitting it out and forcing gags, but none of it were working so you decided to step up. You'd rather not have to do this but he was clearly in agony and he had asked you to do it.
- Babe, excuse me, okay?
- Hmm...
Instead of rubbing his back as you would normally do, you went for his stomach. You rubbed it gently, in circles, applying a little bit of pressure each time, trying to stimulate him.
He gagged a few times but still unproductive. You insisted on the approach a few more times.
- Babe, I'm sorry, I'll be a little more rough this time okay?
You said as you placed your hand exactly at the pit of his stomach and pressed it a little stronger than before. And again he gagged and only a thin stream of bile came out and both of you knew that wasn't everything that needed to come out.
- Babe...it just won't go away and my stomach just keeps gurgling...
There were tears forming in his eyes, his agony just insisted and it was hurting you to see him like this. You didn't want to resort to this method but it was the last thing up your sleeve to help him.
- Babe, I'll need to induce it okay? It's gonna be bad but bare with me, alright?
You kept one of your hands on his stomach while you stuck your fingers down his throat. At the same time you moved your fingers you pressed down a little harder on his stomach and as soon as you did that, he felt something rushing up his esophagus and a burp brought up a thick stream of undigested food that escaped through your fingers before hitting the toilet water with a sickening sound.
- There we go.
You said as you took out your hand and wiped it while the other kept rubbing his stomach.
Before he could catch his breath another stream gushed out of him, this time coming from his nose as well. And the texture was gross, he had just eaten so it all came back as thick as possible, which made it hard to come out, there was barely any liquid in his vomit, he could see everything he had eaten a few minutes ago and it just made him gag again.
He felt every chunk of food rushing up his throat and a cough made everything come out mixing with the rest on the toilet.
- That's it. You're doing good. Get everything out.
You kept rubbing his stomach and now his back as well, giving little taps from time to time to help him.
Something got caught in his throat which made him start coughing and that fit evolved to gags that were again unproductive and you knew there was more that needed to get out.
- Babe, I'll do it again, alright?
He just nodded and closed his eyes as you stuck your fingers down his throat one more time, repeating the process successfully. You felt vomit on your hand as Hyunjin jolted forward with another thick stream gushing out hitting the edges of the seat and unfortunately getting on your hands as you couldn't take it out in time, but it didn't bother you.
- 'm sorry...
He said quietly before another burp brought up another mouth full of vomit.
- It's okay, honey. Don't worry about it. Just focus on getting everything out.
You pat his back as well when he chocked on a piece of undigested food that got stuck on his throat, be coughed hard and a wet gag brought it out mixed with bile and thick saliva.
He was now left gagging and throwing up only thick saliva and bile, he felt tired and his body felt cold and hot at the same time.
- Honey, I think you're done. Here, lean on me for a while.
You guided him so he was laying on your chest and grabbed his hands, drawing circular patterns to help him calm down.
- Baby, breathe with me ok? Inhale 1 2 3 4, hold 1 2 3 4 and exhale 1 2 3 4.
He followed your instructions and your breathing pattern along with paying attention to the touch on his hands and managed to calm down.
- thank you...love...
- No need to thank me. How are you feeling? Better?
- Yeah... A bit...just tired now...
- Let's go rinse your mouth and go back to the dressing room.
You helped him to the sink and wrapped your arms firmly around him, as it seemed he could faint again at any minute.
You were met with seven pairs of worried eyes as soon as you entered the dressing room. The staff helped you settle Hyunjin on a mattress so he could rest, while they decided what to do.
- y/n, what happened?
- When I got there he told me he'd fainted and then he started throwing up.
- Was he like this all along?
- I don't think so. I think it started after the performance.
The boys gathered with the staff to discuss what they'd do, since there was a fan sign after the recording.
And you sat by Hyunjin's side, stroking his hair while he kept dozing off but trying his best to answer you.
- How are you feeling?
- Icky...tired, sweaty and still a little sick...
- Oh baby, when we get to the dorms you'll be able to rest.
The staff decided to take Hyunjin back to the dorms with you, while the others would proceed with the schedule. Just like usual, the company issued a letter explaining Hyunjin's absence on the fan sign event.
You stayed in the dorms with him, helped him take a shower and then made him some light soup, which he managed to eat a little before passing out in bed and sleeping for the rest of the day, with you cuddling him.

Some thoughts and lessons from my first week on Broadway
Tumblr media
(in no particular order)
Insecurities don't magically disappear when you hit The Big Dream. But the Big Dream has made it clearer than ever that my default instinct to downplay my achievements is kind of ridiculous. I need to accept that there's just no casual way to talk about my life right now. There is no pretending that any of this isn't a big deal. It's a huge freaking deal, and I earned it, and it's awesome, and I am no less deserving of its awesomeness than anybody else.
Autistic people have more allies out there than we realize. In advocacy circles, we tend to get rather cynical about what people don't understand, or don't want to understand. But there really are so many people who think we are worth listening to, learning from, and amplifying. There are so many people rooting for us, and actively seeking ways to include and affirm everything we are. They know they aren't going to get everything "right" immediately, and they know we won't always have the emotional energy for the hard conversations, but they are THERE, and they are there because they WANT to be. Yes, even on Broadway.
Fun fact: my first survival job was "Starbucks barista." (Other fun fact: the day I made my Broadway debut, Starbucks Workers United announced a massive strike for the very next day.) One thing that my time on Broadway has with my time at Starbucks is that I never seem to have enough Sharpies. At Starbucks, the Sharpies were for marking cups by hand (yes, I'm that old), and on Broadway, they're for signing Playbills at the stage door. (Like I said, there's no casual way to talk about this stuff.)
I honestly underestimated how much Broadway performers have to eat. It's easy to think most Broadway performers tend to be predominantly thin/buff just because the industry is fatphobic--and don't get me wrong, it totally is--but I also don't think most people really understand how athletic it is to do a full musical eight times a week, and what you have to do offstage to make sure you have the strength and stamina for it. It's genuinely harder than I thought it would be to make sure I'm not at a calorie deficit--and my less-than-stellar autistic interoception means that I can't always rely on "hunger cues" the way most people can. I really do have to PLAN to eat. And eat more than I would usually think I need.
I'm getting a lot better at doing my own wig prep. And I'm very excited about how pretty my hair looks at the end of the night when I release it from the pincurls.
Thanks to Mayte Natalio and Team Choreo, I'm also getting a lot better at learning choreography without a mirror. Poor proprioception is common in autistic people and it's one of my biggest insecurities, so it is always very stressful and overwhelming for me to learn choreography without a mirror, especially if I'm in a large group. It's difficult for me to visualize where I am in space and what my movement looks like in relation to others. But the choreo team knows this about me and helps me find other ways to learn and feel confident in the moves without constantly needing immediate visual proof. And that's something I never thought was possible before.
If I had the authority, I would ban pedicabs. Those things are like sensory assault. And they're RIGHT outside our show (and my bedroom window) every night with their lights flashing and their subwoofers blaring. But as a consolation prize to the drivers, I would equip each of them with a food truck. Let them solicit us and our patrons with chicken shawarma and Nuts 4 Nuts instead. That'll certainly get more business from patrons coming out of a show about autistic people.

How was DPR in concert bby? Not once but TWICE!!!
It was amaaaaazing!!!!!!! More details under the cut (warning for rare techi selfies le gasp)
So I went to both the Oakland and LA stop. I flew in the day of the Oakland concert, which was on a Friday, my flight left at like 5:30 am. Then I landed around 8, dropped my bag off at the hotel, and went straight to the line!
I even dressed up a bit, I wore the same outfit both days, and it was a cute outfit, if I dare say so myself haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I showed up around 9 am and there were probably a little over 30 people there. I was going solo to the Oakland concert, but thankfully I met some super nice fellow dreamers who were my line buddies and made the time pass as fast as it could.
(It's getting harder and harder for me to stand in line that long, especially in the sun 😅).
I had early entry tickets but this meant we only got let into the venue 15 mins early, so around 6:45 that night.
I actually got an amazing spot though, only like 4 rows back from barrier!
The view was great, and the show was awesome. The crowd in Oakland was so loud and hype.
DPR Artics set in particular was one of my faves, it was like a rave, with electronic music and tons of pretty flashing lights. I danced my ass off it was such a vibe!
Of course Ian was the highlight for me, I love his music and him so much, I definitely got emotional both concerts. My favorite part about concerts is just getting lost in the music. He had a live band for his songs, which really made everything that much better!
The bass at the end of Calico is so good live T_T
The next concert was in LA, and me and a friend had meet & greet tickets that day!
I flew into LA Sunday morning and went straight to the line again at like 8 am this time oh boy. I was feeling pretty exhausted but thankfully I had a friend there to help the time pass!
The meet & greet was a group picture with DPR and ten fans each. It went by super fast but after the picture we got to shake their hands and say something really quick. I wanted to say something meaningful to Ian but all I managed when I held his hand was to say "I love you so much." 😂 I went to say more but he said I looked really beautiful and it made my brain short circuit so that was a bit embarrassing. I will in fact be running off the "you look beautiful" comment from him for the rest of my life though.
Anyway, the LA concert was also super hype, so much energy and loud! I had so much fun all my discomfort went away during the concert and I partied hard. I paid for it afterward but that's okay haha.
DPR is amazing live, they are funny, enigamtic, and put their all into it. I cannot recommend seeing them live enough if you have the chance!
Thats my recap of events, please take this little clip from the LA concert of Ian performing Bad Cold as a gift. The Bad Cold choreo was so fun 😂
