Sizzys BiB story lives in my mind RENT FREE!!! So I am going give some of my predictions what the story could be about!!!
—> Simon & Izzy going to comic con together
NERD LOVE!! As Magnus would put it. I think the potential of them going to comic together would absolutely BE SO CUTEEEE!!!!!! I also think it would be so fitting. Now obviously this is a mundane event but I think it could be cool if maybe they have to go to the con on some undercover mission!! Also on that note: what do we think they could dress up as?? Seeing how much they love Star Wars I’m thinking Padme/Anakin or Leia/Han <3
—> Moving in together
I can’t remember what book it’s in (I’m a fraud IK) BUT I do remember them saying they where looking for a place to move in together and I think a short story about there first time owning a house and finally having privacy and living together would be beyond sweet. Like idk, imagine them putting all the furniture together… talking about there engagement… AHHHHH
—> wedding planning / actual wedding !!
Tbh, them having there wedding in a little short story is very much giving Wessa !!! As long as there wedding ISNT combined with Clace I will literally be happy with anything at all. I think them getting married is just saurrr cute and it’s literally such a big step for there characters. Like Izzy with her brothers??? Clary and Simon ????!?!? This is the biggest deal to me. Do I think this is plausible?! Maybe, however me and Cassandra have beef after a CERTAIN short story.
—> then going on a mission abroad together
They deserve a break!! Even though they where severely neglected in QOOAD for some reason (Cassie hates them) (joke) them going abroad for some time alone together and being able to experience the wonders of the world together sounds exactly like Izzy’s perfect date!! I could imagine them maybe going to New Zealand so that Simon can experience the set of the hobbit <3
GUYS IM SOOO EXCITED FOR BIB I NEED IT NEOW!!!!!

Master Post of My FirstPrince Fics ~
Fox. Henry Fox. (finished)
Alex had seen the guy around campus, sure. He was hard to miss, but Alex never said out loud why. For everyone else, being the son of the famous James Bond actor made him a celebrity enough. But for Alex, Henry Fox just…stood out. [non-royal au. University au. Cool guy x nerd trope.]
All Over Again (finished)
Alex and Henry's first kiss goes a little differently. [one shot. Canon-divergence. New Year's kiss.]
Salt Follows the Moon (unfinished)
Vampires exist, and it's no secret. What is a secret, is that Henry Hanover-Stuart Windsor needs a blood donor. Alex Claremont-Diaz just can't leave well enough alone.
[vampire!Henry x blood donor!Alex. Canon-divergence.]
Moonburn (unfinished)
Alex Claremont-Diaz is everything a wolf should be. Tall, long-limbed, strong, and most of all: charismatic. Community and pack oriented. Some would also say he’s loud, overeager, and has his head up the moon’s ass. Again: werewolf. It’s like blaming water for being wet. As for Henry Hanover-Stuart Windsor Fox…his mother is a wolf. She comes from a long and prestigious line—many lines—of wolves. She fell in love with a human. Despite the initial shock and disdain for marrying outside of tradition, having two children born as healthy, strong wolves calmed several of the loudest, bigoted voices. And then Henry came along. The youngest. The favorite. The human. But nobody else knows that last part.
[werewolf!Alex x human!Henry. Canon-divergence.]
Satellites (unfinished)
Alex is in England for a year studying abroad. To his both relieved and annoyed surprise, the whole school is in a tizzy over something other than the American president’s son enrolling…except it’s Henry. Prince Henry. He’s enrolled too.
[university au. Ceramicist!Henry x dancer!Alex. Still royal and FSOTUS.]
Alexander Hamilton Hall (unfinished)
It started with a group project. Well, Alex supposed it started when Henry Fox moved to town, or perhaps when Alex’s parents succeeded enough in their political careers that he and June were transferred to the most prestigious high school in Texas. Alexander Hamilton Hall.
[high school au. Non-royal au. Arthur lives au.]
Burning (unfinished)
Henry did manage to tell Alex to leave that night in Kensington. Now it’s two years later, and Alex is over it. He has a girlfriend. His mother has been reelected. He’s going to the Swanky Soiree of Something Important in Paris, because he’s over it. Henry can be there and it’s fine. Henry is there. And it’s most definitely not fine. [canon-divergence. Whump and angst. Getting back together fic.]
Codename: Rapunzel (unfinished)
Acquiring the Prince of Wales’ name in his Burn Book, so to speak, had not been a surprise in Alex’s line of work. What had been a surprise, was that someone wanted the fourth in line for the throne dead. [assassin/hitman!Alex x Prince Henry.]
Defy the Odds (unfinished)
Henry is a prince of the Olympians. He has had everything bestowed upon him since his birth. And yet, none of it mattered when the light of his father's soul went out. Alexander is the First Shade of the Underworld. Prince of the dark realm and...the perfect person to help Henry along his many - many - journeys into the Underworld to find his father. That is, if they can stand each other long enough to cooperate. [an inverse Hades Game!AU where Henry is trying to find his father in the Underworld. Basically Zagreus Henry and Thanatos Alex.]

childhood rivals to lovers prompts
because it took me until high school to realize that the annoying boy i knew in 7th grade might've liked me
—-
being the top of their classes but only having eyes to compete with each other
being nerds and doing homework together after school but only to compare answers and smugly correct each other
X finds out Y's favorite color and starts wearing more of it, Y secretly likes it
having insulting nicknames that only THEY can use on the other
neither of them know how the beef started, could be that X already liked Y and didn't know what to do with feelings + Y being friends with kids that liked to argue with X
they end up hanging together bc of mutual friends and Y ends up enjoying this group more than their old friends
or X is friends with Y's sibling so they end up encountering at Y's house unexpectedly
maybe teachers note the rivalry and seat them together/pair them for projects. the class likes to watch their back-and-forth
"you look dumb with your hair up like that" "fix your chapped lips" "short" "weak" other immature digs at each other
losing contact as they end up at different high schools and eventually go to different colleges, maybe out of town
both were too stubborn to get each other's contacts, or didn't have ways to personally contact each other after middle school
neither said anything at middle school graduation, last they'll ever see each other
maybe one cries, or X randomly hugs Y before running away, maybe a small picture together taken by their parents who don't know about the rivalry
cut to college, they return to their hometown during a school break. maybe the breaks happen to line up
see each other in passing on a crowded bus/train, almost don't recognize each other
"was X this attractive?" sort of thoughts. maybe one notices and the other doesn't, or both make awkward eye contact for a split second before looking away
maybe they end up visiting the old bakery/cafe they always went to as kids and see each other on line, or X is working register as a summer job
brush it off bc maybe they've been thinking about their crush for so long that they're hallucinating the scenarios they made up
do they keep feigning ignorance? at this point, haven't there been too many coincidences?
one decides to take a chance and calls out to the other with the old insulting nickname
it works and they respond in kind with a smile
"It's been almost a decade now"
"you look different"
taking a closer look and seeing how the other has developed. the awkward baggy clothes have been replaced with better fitting stylish clothes.
the baby fat is gone but the smile's undoubtedly the same
noticing the changes they made in appearance and remembering the old insults they threw. maybe one did change their hairstyle and looks way too attractive, maybe one got muscular and is much stronger than the other
even better with height differences, especially if the one who used to be shorter grew way taller
or the shorter one stayed short and the other grew substantially
making snarky but lighthearted remarks mentioning inside "jokes" from the past
"still got chapped lips?" "still looking at my lips?" even better if one knows about the other's crush
one has the courage to ask for the other's contact info, finally arrange something close to a date (they never specify)
reminisce about old times, maybe meet up in the old playground/cafe/bakery near the middle school
realize they get along well as adults, talk about high school and college and where they're going in life
sad if one is going abroad, or if their careers are so separated that they probably won't have time to see each other a lot
maybe they secretly kept mementos of each other. if not that graduation picture, then the mean doodle Y drew in X's notebook, or the post-it X left in the book Y lent them, or the hat that Y never gave back, or the pen that X stole from Y's bag, etc.
"are you with anyone?" "no, you?" "me neither"
"i used to like you when we were kids" "used to? what about now?"
or "what am i supposed to do with an expired crush" to be sassier
meeting again is stirring up old feelings
happy end, they get together and have a strong long distance relationship or smth
sad end, they part ways for the final time

Walk Me Home?
George Karim x (gn) Reader
Part 3: As the days go by (pt.1) (pt.2) (pt. 4)
Warnings/Tags: Reader is not an agent, Slow burn I think!!, Lucy and Lockwood being little shits my beloveds <3, Reader is an exchange student from abroad (vague), uhhhh I’m blanking but this is mostly fluff and self-indulgent, nerd Reader, Risking your life for the bit if the bit was knowledge
Notes: I CAVED. I could not go another day without writing an exchange student reader, physically hurt me not to 😔
Summary: George finds out that risking your life is a thing many people do; chief among them being the very people he cares about most. You’re no different, but at least you aren’t fighting ghosts. That’s a start.
Word count: 1.3k+
Tumblr media
George settles into a schedule that slots you into his life with ease. You slide into the repertoire of his thoughts as if you’d always been there, waiting patiently to be noticed.
Every single thing in the world had a challenge, and yet the only thing you came with was a smile and a promise. Even Lockwood and Lucy had their own challenges; the challenge of keeping them alive chief among them. It was a challenge he understood and accepted with their line of work, but to finally meet someone mostly unattached to such a risk… It was strange.
You had come from abroad, far enough that news of the Problem was near non-existent and were not an agent. When visiting the British Isles for the first time, the Problem had barely been explained to you in anything other than harsh whispers and frustrated advice. This, you had told him, just a few weeks after you met.
“Everyone was so hurried all the time to get anywhere, and then, after curfew, London would be a ghost itself,” You told him once, sitting across from him at the same table you’d shared for months now. “When I had to go back home, I put in a request at my school to be part of an exchange programme. I can still remember how surprised the Dean looked when I told him I wanted to go to Britain.”
George understood why that was, shrugging lamely as he flipped to the next page of his book, “I wouldn’t send anybody here if where I lived didn’t have the threat of Visitors constantly over my head. I would send myself, but that’s out of scholarly interest.”
You chuckle lightly at the comment. “I ended up doing just that, so I can’t blame you.”
George hums in response, eyebrows lifting in the manner they do when he’s agreeable. “Must’ve been easy to find an exchange though…”
“Oh, very,” You say easily, “In fact some of the parents started sending me letters as soon as they found out someone was applying to exchange. Had very enticing terms they did— basically promised me a dowry, some of them. I didn’t even have to marry anyone.”
“Well I hope you took it,” he laughs, resting his cheek against his hand as he looks up at you, watching the light catch your eyes like a twinkling star, “Would be a pity if you didn’t.”
“I did,” you reply, mirroring him with your opposite hand as your sparkling gaze trails where your fingers nearly touch. His eyes drop to where you bump a knuckle into against his fist, and something curls in warm delight in his chest.
You don’t say anything more, and he’s too distracted to pick the conversation back up before you’re both packing to leave. Over the months, your visits to the library have gotten longer, and your walks take up enough time that he makes it back to Portland Row just as curfew’s setting in. Lucy and Lockwood always greet him like the cunning wolves they are, hungry for a scrap of gossip. Lockwood, he expected this from— the man reads gossip magazines as a hobby after all— but Lucy’s prodding seems to mostly come from a genuine interest in his life. For all their bickering, he knew Lockwood and Lucy truly just cared about his wellbeing.
So, a month or so into your… shared library visits, as he’d taken to calling them, he started to fill the two in on a few details. Sometimes they’re small things, like your favourite colour or the last fiction book you’d read, but other times he’d give a little more and tell them things like: ‘They’re from abroad’ or ‘They’re here, willingly, on an exchange program’. They wouldn’t get off his back for days when he told them the Problem was what kept you in Britain after your initial visit.
“You two are basically made for each other,” Lockwood coos, and George swats him on the chest for it. “Risking your lives for research and study and all that.”
“He’s right, if I hadn’t grown up with it, I certainly wouldn’t have sent myself into it,” Lucy adds, sitting far enough away that George can only glare at her. She holds up both hands in surrender, but looks at him intently.
George deflates a little against the table as he plops down, thinking over the fact you might just be as reckless as the two martyrs-in-the-making in front of him (as reckless as himself, though he would never admit it). It doesn’t genuinely disappoint him, but he likes to give Lockwood and Lucy the idea that recklessness is not a good trait by exaggerating his disapproval. Still, he preens at the thought that you really would fit right into their little home here in Portland Row.
“Where do they live for now, anyway?” Lucy asks around a mouthful of supper, doodling into the thinking cloth with every chew.
“Someplace North of the library, always took us 10 minutes to walk there.”
“You walk them home?” Lockwood asks, giddily smiling as if this was his library rendezvous they were talking about. George ignores him without so much as a glance.
“They’re living with an older couple raising their grandkid, who’s now been sent off to live elsewhere for the duration of the program,” he says instead.
“Now hold on—“
“George, you didn’t answer my—“
He tunes them out a little as he hides behind an old newspaper he’d brought to the table. It would be easy to just tune them out for the whole night (heavens know he’s done it more than once when their arguing got too loud), but something about you… always, always had him talking. It was as if the thought of you lit a fire in his lungs and he needed to talk about you to let the smoke clear, your smile a spark to light the flames.
“Yes, I walk them home,” He finally relents, dropping the newspaper to glare at them both. It doesn’t stop the twin grins from growing on their faces, but the admission makes something flare in the cavity of his chest. Smoke, fire, far-off stars, and peace from abroad; you really were giving him the world and more just by being in his.
Tumblr media
“Would you fancy coming round one of these days?” he whispers to you, pinkie wrapped around yours. It’d been a week or two since you bumped a knuckle against his hand, and you had steadily built up to holding each other’s pinkies while reading across from each other.
You look up at him, and sparks fill his lungs with quick fire. “To your agency?”
“Yeah, Lucy and Lockwood have been bugging me to introduce you, but I’ve been putting them off because they can be… a lot.” He tugs on your pinkie absentmindedly, and your eyes flit at the motion. Something preens in his chest as you tug on his pinkie in return.
“If they’re anywhere as lovely as you, I’m sure we’d get on well. Intense or not.” Your smile catches in the light, popping against the bleak library walls and tall bookshelves. “Not today, but maybe we can set up a time when?”
George feels thankful you even said yes, with all that he’s told you about the two of them (he does not voice this). “Absolutely.”
When it’s time to walk home, you don’t ask anymore if he’d walk with you to avoid someone. Instead, you link pinkies, and walk the cobble streets back with the sun on the horizon. Unbeknownst to him, whose fires rage in the cavity of his lungs at your smile, your heart hammers against the bones of your ribs at his.
“Meet again tomorrow?” You ask, hopeful as ever with your glittering eyes.
“As long as you’ll be there,” he responds easily, a smile finding its way onto his lips.
Tumblr media
A/N: I caved. I gave reader a lil bit of backstory. I hadn’t meant to, but UGH I just love exchange student au. Anyways, sorry this took so long, I was in the midst of a personal sweets shortage and lost the motivation to write (I am not joking 😭) hope you fellow George lovers sleep a good night with your pillow cold <333

Bridgerton Season 3 ep 2 Reaction
Again, I am going at this slowly and probably going to be spoiled mercilessly until June but I am watching one episode a week until June. So here is my reaction to Episode 2. Spoilers ahead.
Ok, so I've been spoiled by references to this already. But Colin and the whores. So right now I don't feel any way about this because Colin is over age and single. He is back from Europe and has had the influence of Anthony and Benedict before him. He is not cheating on anyone here and having fun especially because he can. He has the money and the freedom to do it. He is not deflowering virgins and lying to women or mistreating them, he is getting in practice.
Now back to Polin. Ok the discussion about the first meeting is SO CUTE! He brings it up which shows how much of it he remembers and shows that it is important to him, not some insignificant thing. I would be melting! "Because we were children" indeed. The best love starts with friendship and there is no better friends than the ones you have as little children! You are your purest selves! Even Rae the housemaid thinks there's something going on! Plus I love the ease Penelope feels around Colin and that they are friends. Yes!
Colin talking to Penelope about going abroad and finding himself is surprising and refreshing. In the books, a major plot point was Colin chafing at the Bridgerton name and wanting to be known and admired for himself which leads to Penelope encouraging Colin's writing. I wonder if they will ever include Colin writing in the show and am curious about that. But I'm not mad that show!Colin is more at peace and one with himself in the show than the books, it makes him more grounded and by the time they get together Penelope will be getting whole, mature Colin. "Living for the estimation of others is a trap, once you break free, the world opens up." Swoon!
Bridgerton drawing room! Colin listens to her. He asked her where she was most comfortable and uses that information. This is the kind of stuff that makes me love friends to lovers. Whether there is sex involved or not, this is the one person who actually knows you, who actually cares about your wants and needs. He's not doing anything nefarious or even self serving, he is just being her friend. Yes! This is also one of the reasons I've always liked Colin, he is a cinnamon roll sweetheart who truly is a good friend which makes Penelope's crush on him a healthy choice.
OMG! The eyes bit! Yes, Penelope yes! See, she loves the kindness in Colin and she was vulnerable, even he needed a drink then! Ooh they put in the journal reading and hand cutting scene from the books! Yes, it was one of the scenes I loved! He is angry at her for seeing something so intimate, but he also is super close physically to her as well as a type of freedom that someone has seen his most intimate thoughts.
Ooh, hand twitching, he's definitely thinking of Penelope! Eloise is not wrong here, they are single and often unchaperoned, if they are really playing friends and leading to nothing it does not look right, but we know better! Aww, Polin laughing together! Yes, that is a horse joke! One thing I love about Polin is their mutual sense of humor at puns, jokes etc. They are both word nerds at heart and I love it.
Featheringtons and the lack of sex knowledge is a hoot! They are not my favorite people and side story, but I did cackle at that. Aww, I;m glad that Bridgerton is putting people in wheelchairs in the show! Yes and he's not a joke or anything, good for them! And Colin isn't judgmental or disapproving, score!
Ooof, damn you meddling mamas and gossiping bitches leave Penelope alone! And I am proud and clinging to the writers allowing Cressida to be a fully fleshed out person and not just a villain for not starting the gossip. Ooh, yes though on Colin defending Pen so heartily even to his own sister.
I knew Cressida wasn't the culprit! Yes, the writers are really trying to make Cressida a rounded out character and worthy of forgiveness or at least some understanding. I wonder what they are going to do for her as the season progresses... I think it might be a good look to turn things on its head and to put out the message that no one is irredeemable and etc.
The scene of Penelope at the window is so sad, even her mother doesn't believe she will get a husband and she was forced to write as Lady Whistledown about how pathetic she is. She herself knows how the game is played and how courtship works and this is not the way to get a husband, she's definitely in some deep darkness right now.
Then we get Colin coming over to check in on Pen! Ohh, she asked for a kiss! They started and now they are really going for it! Yeehaw! Squee! Omg! SO hot. The look in his eyes afterwards! Oh! I see where Colin is the prince being awakened by the kiss! Pen is like bye thanks for the kiss and it probably meant nothing to you so I won't make a thing out of it. And he is all I did it to be kind to my friend but it feels so good and right and HOT damn what am I feeling?? Yes, yes, yes!
I can't wait for the next two episodes! I'm living for this!

On Maeglin, Gondolin, and the Curse of Eöl.
ooc: A'ight strap in, there's gonna be a lot of discourse in this which I've been thinking about for years regarding Maeglin and the entire situation of his story. This will be part of how I play him as well, so keep that in mind. Long essay incoming.
So before we consider the story of Maeglin on his own, we have to look at the context that shapes him. Firstly, his mother, proud princess of the Noldor who values her freedom above all else and foolishly wanders into Nan Elmoth. Secondly, there's his father, introvert extraordinaire, who turns said Nan Elmoth into an enchanted prison. Aredhel was 'Not wholly unwilling' but that didn't mean she was willing either, and I'm in the camp that fully believes that relationship was highly toxic and abusive. She is not allowed to see her family, speak her language, etc., she is completely isolated, all of which are signs of abuse.
Now when Maeglin come along, Eol doesn't name him for 12 years, and there is a secret that he and his mother share in their heritage and language. At this point, I believe that Maeglin was much more trying to cope with the situation. His parents didn't love each other, his father clearly saw him as some kind of extension of himself, and his mother longed for her home in Gondolin. Now I'm gonna go into total nerd mode and pull out the book.
In Of Maeglin , in the Silmarillion, it says this:
"Then he ( Eol ) called him Maeglin, which is Sharp Glance, for he perceived that the eyes of his son were more piercing than his own, and his thought could read the secrets of hearts beyond the mist of words. As Maeglin grew to full stature he resembled in face and form rather his kindred of the Noldor, but in mood and mind he was the son of his father. His words were few save in matters that touched him near, and then his voice had a power to move those that heard him, and to overthrow those that withstood him ... yet it is said that Maeglin loved his mother better... but when he declared his purpose ( to go and find Gondolin and deal with the Noldor ) to Eol, his father was wrathful ... "I will not deal nor have my son deal with the slayers of our kin ... in this you shall obey me or I will set you in bonds." and Maeglin did not answer, but was cold and silent, and went abroad no more with Eol; and Eol mistrusted him."
I love all of this because it says a lot about Maeglin. He had the makings of someone interesting, powerful, perceptive, and capable of influence. Even more, he actualy unsettled Eol, which is interesting in an of itself. But then something happened, which I believe altered his path forever. Eol tries to kill him in Gondolin, and instead kills his mother. That alone would alter any person, but one step goes beyond. When Eol dies, he curses Maeglin, and says:
"Maeglin stood by and said nothing; but at last Eol cried out: 'So you forsake your father and his kin, ill-gotten son! here shall you fail of all your hopes, and here may you yet die the same death as I.' ... then they cast Eol over Caragdur... but Idril was troubled, and from that day she mistrusted her kinsman.
Okay so this is interesting because what is the curse exactly? 'You shall fail of all your hopes, and die the same death as I.' ... here's a thought... what exactly were his hopes? I'll go on a little more before I touch on that again.
"But Maeglin prospered and grew great among the Gondolindrim, praised by all, and high in the favor of Turgon .. wise in counsel was maeglin, and wary, and yet hardy and valiant at need ... and in the dread year of the Nirnaeth Arnoediad ... Maeglin would not remain in Gondolin as regent of the King, but went to war and fought beside Turgon, and proved fell and fearless in battle."
But...
"All seemed well with the fortunes of Maeglin ... yet he did not reveal his heart; and though not all things went as he would, he endured it in silence, hiding his mind so that few could read it, unless it were Idril Celebrindal. For from his first days in Gondolin, he had borne a grief ever worsening, that robbed him of all joy: he loved the beauty of Idril and desired her, without hope ... and his love turned to darkness in his heart. And he sought the more to have his will in other matters, shirking no toil or burden, if he might thereby have power."
Okay so we've got 'he prospered' but also he was growing more frustrated by where he failed, and even more so by his love for Idril that not only was not returned, but that she saw him with suspicion and mistrust. So I'm gonna circle around to that 'what was his hope?' thing. What if the very desire he had for her was a crush that somehow turned against him if you will. I'm gonna cite the Oath of Feanor here, because it's another aspect of consideration; as well as the curse of the Children of Hurin. Both Oaths and Curses seem to act above and beyond the desires and will of those who are influenced by them. Clearly it's affecting him outside of his will, but given the wording, what if from his love for Idril to the fact that he surrenders Gondolin was all part of the curse?
From the 'Fall of Gondolin' it says this:
"Maeglin was taken prisoner by Orcs, and brought to Angband. Maeglin was no weakling, or craven, but the torment wherewith he was threatened cowed his spirit, and he purchased his life and freedom by revealing to Morgoth the very place of Gondolin and the ways whereby it might be found and assailed ... and to Maeglin he promised the lordship of Gondolin as his vassal, and the possession of Idril Celebrindal ... and indeed desire for Idril and hatred for Tuor led Maeglin the easier to his treachery ... and so that Maeglin should aid the assault from within, when the hour came; and he abode in the halls of the King with a smiling face and evil in his heart."
So he wasn't weak, he wasn't craven, but he was cowed with torment--and we know the torments of Morgoth was a horrific ordeal. He gave in, failing in saving Gondolin, for the things he viewed as failing before: having Idril being one. Even in this, however, he failed, and we all know his end. He fell to his death from the same place as his father at the hand of Tuor. Perhaps that failure in and of itself was part of this curse, after all Maeglin from the previous excerpts was faithful to Gondolin, defending it, fighting beside his king. He fought in the Nirnaeth for fucks sake.
Another factor which I think is not greatly considered. When Aredhel was killed, Maeglin was 80 years old. When he died he was 190. Elves mature at a hundred years, according to the lore, meaning Maeglin was very young by Elven standards. Youngest of the lords of Gondolin save Tuor, and he was tortured by Morgoth. For one so young, his corruption is gutwrenching when you think about it.
So, with all that, I will summarize. I think that the Curse of Eol had a lot to do with Maeglin's behavior. Would he have done differently without it? I think so. To what ends? That's debateable. Who knows the fullness of his heart, for it states he kept it from all. Perhaps he tried to stop himself from loving Idril, perhaps he tried to stay loyal to Turgon and resist Morgoth's torments and temptation. All of it resulting in what his father foretold. His failure.

A couple of weeks ago I asked about people’s favorite book or books they read this year. Between Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and discord, I have a list of 123 books in no particular order that my friends and family loved this year. If it was a series then I listed the first book. Each star is an additional recommendation. I haven’t read all of these, they may or may not reflect my personal opinions, though my favorite books are on the list too. The most recommended books were How Far The Light Reaches by Sabrina Imbler, one or all of the Murderbot books by Martha Wells, and Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki, because if there’s one thing my friends have in common across platforms, it’s that you’re all nerds (affectionate). Enjoy, and I hope you find your new favorite book!

Name: Tallulah Kia Occupation: Part-time librarian at Growden Public Library & part-time marketeer at Portside Flea Market Age: 28 Sexuality: Lesbian Species: Human Hometown: Cape Town, South Africa Relationship Status: Single Personality Traits: Insecure, selfless, loving, loyal, spontaneous, cheerful, positive, radiant does golden retriever puppy count as a personality trait?
Born in England, her biological mother of 16 years old was forced to give the baby away without granted a single glance at the newborn. A newly wed couple adopted the girl and took her with them to South Africa, where she was raised as their own. Never knowing she was adopted, adoring her parents and obedient to their rules. Her foster mother being a redhead herself, she never once thought or questioned if she'd been adopted or not.
Tallulah danced through life, with lots of laughter, lots of love to give and always putting others first. Even when she wasn't allowed to have friends over at home, she trusted her parents had their fair reasons for them. They owned a farm, away from the city, with a big stable owning quite a few horses. Tallulah got her own foal at a young age, grew up with the majestic animal as her best friend. She didn't have many human friends, mostly because her parents were really restricted and kept to themselves.
In her teenage years, she spent most of her time studying, getting good grades and worked the hardest on improving her English. This granted her the opportunity to study abroad, to participate in a student exchange program and move to Port Leiry for a year. It was a big step, but with the help of a friend of the family, Adrian, her parents let her go knowing there'd be someone keeping an eye out on her. Adrian acted as her guide and second dad in the city, so much so that when she moved back home; she always longed to go back. She graduated college and after a few years of job hopping back home, she made the big decision to move to Port Leiry.
Entirely lost in what 'dreams' she's supposed to follow, she has taken up a part-time job at the Growden Public Library and part-time at the Portside Flea Market. There she helps out, one of many, local florists that sells flowers at a stand - either place she'll be spending most of her time. She's only been in Port Leiry for a month, aside from the year she spent in Port Leiry at the age of 25, and ready to finally live her life to the fullest.
____________________
YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME; to make up for the lack of friends Tallulah had back home, she needs someone - of any species really - to be there for her and teach her about letting go of the restrictions her parents put her up with
A BOOK NERD; Tallulah works part time at the library, absolutely loves to talk all things fiction, mostly feel-good fantasy and happy endings
LET YOURSELF GO; someone who could be a good or bad influence on Tallulah, depends on how you see it, who drags her through the city to truly let go of herself and experience the joys of life

SUDDEN NH IDEA!
Nerd Naruto x Nerd Hinata
Popular Naruto x Nerd Hinata
Office Worker Naruto x Doctor Hinata
He used to be a cute, cute nerd.
He used to hang out with them a lot.
He used to loved the books she recommend to him.
They used to talk a lot.
But now he's the Popular guy, and even an ounce of his attention can't be directed onto her.
Suddenly, her Naruto-kun changed into this, into the man she doesn't recognize.
He used to be so cute, and adorable and.. and.. handsome.
***
"Hinata. You called to me, yeah? Wassup."
*she frowned immediately, where on earth does he learned to speak like that? it was rather embarrassing for him to please people just because he became popular*
"I.. need to talk to you, about something important. "
*his chiseled face turned into a frown*
" And what is it, that you even brought me to the utmost corner of this.. err library? Sounds boring to me—"
*he cannot continue his words for he felt her glare burning him into ashes, he just coughed.*
" Naruto. "
" -kun? Didn't you used to call me Naruto-kun with your cute voice, yeah? What's stopping you, Hi-na-ta? "
*his words ranged to her ear and she almost crumpled the letter on her hands, at first, she thought that Naruto's change was for the better but then, it turned him into this montrosity she's quite not fond of. It ticked her, and she definitely missed the old Naruto-kun.*
*she cleared her throat before carefully glaring to him*
" I'm here solely because you used to be one of my close friend.. and I—"
*his scoffed bounced off against the wall a little too loud, she tried to warned him but he just rolled his eyes*
" What? Used to? Hinata, aren't we still friends?"
*he then laughed*
" Y-yes.. though not as the same as we were before. "
"... " *he didn't replied back anything but his face are saying everything there to be said*
" Erm... as I was saying. You're a friend of mine, and I thought it's important for you to actually know that after this year's graduation, I will go straight to abroad for college. "
*the clock ticked by before realization hit Naruto's gut, widening his ocean eyes*
" What?! "
" S-silence, Naruto! "
*he grumbled as he crossed his arms against his chest, flexing his muscles against the tight shirt he's wearing*
" So you're actually going to abroad, this year? Wow, talk about being in a richa—"
*before he can continue his random babbling, hinata immediately pushed the letter onto him*
"Before I leave, I'm giving this letter to you."
*his gaze fell upon the letter, sealed, with white color. his lips turned into a smirk*
*he leaned back against his chair and stare to her pearly orbs*
"My, my, my! Are you serious? You're not gonna, like, confess to me or something inside this letter right?"
*hinata almost flinched.. almost. but not because naruto 100% right, it's because of his tone which she doesn't like. it's full of mockery and hidden disgust. as if he's used to rejecting girls that worships him.*
"Don't read that letter before I leave. At least read it after I went to abroad. That's my last wish, for you. "
*he stilled, what the fuck is in this letter that makes hinata this secretive? it's just a fucking letter?!!!*
"Now, now, you're making me incredibly serious. I feel like I can't hold back myself and just want to rip it out and.. and—"
" And read it? Please, Naruto-kun. Please read it after I went to abroad, okay? That's the only thing I want from you."
*damn it, he cursed internally. he may reject everyone and don't care about people's wishes. but this is hinata we're talking about. he might be damned if he didn't listen to her, especially when she looks like that, doe-eyed and worried face. fuck it*
"Yeah, yeah. Fine. I won't, happy now?"
*her lips upturned and gave him a timid smile, not the one that reaches her cheeks. but atleast her eyes aren't as worrisome as before. naruto's tiny bit self missed the sunshine-y smile she always gave to him.. he cannot help but reminisce.*
"Thank you."
"I'll get going then. Goodbye, Naruto."
*phew. she's done. she's finally done*
*she left the library with a heavy heart but nonetheless happy how the situation turned up better than she had expected it to be*
10 years later >>>
"Patient Uzumaki?"
*the nurse asked in the hallway, a tall man raised his hands gently before standing up on his all glory.*
"This way, please."
*the two of then entered another room that leads to another dull, hallway with nothing to see other than the slick designed windows on his right that emphasizes the blue sky outside.*
*they came into a halt when they got into a large door, beside it was a intricated bronze plate attached directly to the wall. naruto squinted his eyes, is it.. Hyuuga?*
*a deja vu washed over him when he read that*
"Mister?"
"A-ah!"
*he scrambled to walk when he realized that the nurse was patiently waiting for him to enter the door, which is now opened thanks to her.*
"Sorry."
*the nurse just subtly nods as an answer and naruto cannot help but grimaced to himself*
"Doc, you're patient is here."
*she gently informed against an opaque sliding door, that made naruto think that it was his doctor's office, well, obviously.*
"Please, enter."
*an authoriative voice from the inside affirmed, making naruto suddenly flinched. although he cannot help but to think that the voice is somewhat familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere*
*the nurse opened the sliding door and entered, Naruto did the same before he closed the door behind him*
"Doc, he's here. I'll leave you two, then."
"Thank you, Mikiwa."
*she bowed before turning her heels and walking pass him as she left the room*
"Please, sit."
*the doctor left him with no choice but to obey, his nervousness getting the best of him. his gaze fell upon his knees, his hands on them clutching the fabric of his pants. fiddling them as to reduce the anxiety blooming over him*
"Uzumaki, Naruto.. san?"
"Ah.. yes. T-that's me!!"
*due to the sudden voice, his gaze immediately turn upwards to a pair of pearly orbs directed to him and the familiar midnight hair accentuanting a beautiful familiar face*
*he feel his stomach drop*
"H-hinata?!"
>>> Hinata's drunk >>>
*naruto isn't quite sure how this changed brought to his relationship between hinata but now he's infront of the drunk doctor, sitting infront of her. seeing her on her drunk glory.*
*he can't deny that she looked incredibly adorable but he bite down the thought immediately before he can relish the feeling*
*suddenly, hinata removed the eyeglasses she's currently wearing*
"Naruto-kun~, lean over, here~, okay??"
*her slurred voice pleaded*
*and who is he to disobey it?*
*she immediately puts the eyeglasses onto his, yet delicately even at her current state*
"Wah~"
*she smiled softly to her masterpiece*
"Don't move, ne, Naruto-kun~"
*he gulped nervously, isn't it done? what could she be possibly do in that state huh?*
*his whole world freezes when he felt her hands gently on his hair, before she messily patted it to her desired form*
"Wh-what the hell, Hinata!"
"Shh!~ Aym, busyy~ Hihi!"
*he sighed loudly, he cannot imagine for the love of god that he would be facing this drunk woman and experience this right now. if you told him this would happen, two hours ago, he would've laugh at you on how ridiculous you sound*
* when she's done, she immediately removed her hands on his hair, and damn it, naruto cannot help but miss her hands tangled up on his hair already*
*she sit again across to him*
*her eyes crinkled into a delight smile, her hands under her chin, cupping them and now, she almost shine against the dark of the night. or maybe it's him imagining things again*
"I like it!~"
*she excitedly beamed*
"What do you mean you like---"
*suddenly, she's looming over him, her small hands cupping his cheeks, and then.. and then*
*her lips touched his*
*after she kissed him, she returned to her sit*
*his cheeks burned, the soft taste of hers lingering against his lips*
"Ah.."
*then all of a sudden, she just passed out cold. her head against the table, but before hinata's head hit the wooden table, naruto aided to her by laying out his hands..to support her fall*
>>> A day later >>>
*It's unfair*
"...Like.."
*at the background, shikamaru's voice is busy handling affairs and appointments for his one of a kind boss.*
"Then..I like that, Yuzuru-san."
*he finished talking with the man behind the phone*
*" I like it~"*
*hinata's voice last night boomed against his mind, naruto wants to just work silently but it's not helping that hinata's voice is still lingering, pushing itself on his mind*
*what is she implying by that?*
*does she like his face? or his eyeglasses she gave? or was it his messy hair?*
*he doesn't know which one?!!!*
"Stop, saying like!! "
*he shouted angrily, enough to make the other people flinch in fright.. even shikamaru*
*a grumbling shikamaru arched his eyebrows*
*a silent question, "what the fuck?" looming over shikamaru*
"This is driving me insane, she.. SHE'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!! "

notes on romancing sybelle (as she was the most popular option on 'who is your tav romancing?' poll this week.)
Has never been in a relationship before. Shocking, I know. The life of academia archiving presented rare opportunities for romance, and by rare I mean 'she's read about it in books.' However, the whole 'I could be dead tomorrow because of a Tadpole' thing has encouraged her to try all sorts of new things and take all sots of risks.
A little self-effacing at the beginning. She knows she's awkward, runs off at the mouth, isn't totally hip to the ways of the world. She's a nerd who spent all but 8 of her 20 years sequestered in an archive. Her big fear is she lets someone in and they go 'No, Sorry.' The more the PC encourages her, the more comfortable she'll get. Teasing her about it will only hurt her feelings and make her pull away, and being more aggressive with her is an automatic turn-off.
Not poly of her own accord! Doesn't need a persuasion check or anything to get her to agree to let the player Ride the Bear, though she'll be open about not being sure it's for her, but she's not about to stop the player. They just really need to talk about it as they figure things out. She may choose to close that door later on and want a solid 1:1 commitment.
Loyal as they come. Will stand by the player through thick and thin, but has clear 'I Can Fix Them' beliefs about a more evil player. Even when overwhelmed or anxious, she will try and stand tall for the player. They can either encourage this or help impress upon her it's alright to be overwhelmed, to be anxious, to be scared, because they will be there with her.
Speaking of alignments, falls all over herself for a Prince(ss) Charming player or anyone playing lore-accurate W*ll in their playthrough. She's learning real life isn't at all like her stories, but seeing real heroes is more than she could have asked for, especially that she travels with them and gets to be a part of their story. That she finds them wildly attractive also helps.
Definitely not a pure uguu no matinggggg romance just because of her age or autism. She is not above some salacious banter about how she wants to experience the world with the player, not just live by the theory of what she's read in books or... Anatomical manuals.
Probably aligns best to Aerie of past PC romances: The innocent abroad finding her place in the world after more than half her life locked away. Her cage was self-chosen rather than forced upon her in this instance, but the parallel is there. She's much less mournful and sad than Aerie, however -- which isn't to say she's pure sunshine and rainbows, either.
Dreams of seeing the world hand in hand with the player post-canon, then settling down into some form of academia for herself. Seems intent on opening a school in the South to rival Blackstaff past a certain age. A magic-aligned player can certainly help her achieve this dream.

Note
about that "I'm not from the us" ask set
or whatever it was written there
all
every
most is a very interesting question and I need answers because knowledge = fun
Ahhh... This is going to be long...
1. favourite place in your country?
India is a big country, okay, I haven't been to many places, but I liked kerala when I went there one time.
2. do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad?
In my country, in my state, in my house. I don't like traveling.
3. does your country have access to sea?
Yeah :)
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Creul. How dare you make me choose?
5. favourite song in your native language?
Ohhh,,,, this is hard. I don't know many songs like at all
ஆனந் யாழை (aanandha yaazhai)
சின்ன சின்ன ஆசை (chinna chinna aasai)
உனக்கு என்ன வேணும் சொல்லு (unakku enna venum sollu)
Are they all very popular songs? Yes, as I said I don't know many songs. (How hell did I become an instrumentalist!?)
6. most hated song in your native language?
I don't think I hate any songs, like in general..
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
Who has favorite words?! I like them all.
8. do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?
I am, unfortunately pale as fuck, so some people think I'm white (oh the horrors) and other times they think I'm from andhra side, because again pale as hell lol
9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?
We somehow have some level of beef with most of our neighbours,.,. Probably sri lanka, I know a decent amount about it because shared history, and it would be the easiest to travel to
10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
No "swear words" because language is old and we have forgotten most of them :(
11. favourite native writer/poet?
Kalki Krishnamurthy, is this a basic answer? Yes. But, I am not a book person, okay, books are scary and I haven't read many in my lifetime. I'm going based on what my mom said lol.
12. what do you think about English translations of your favourite native prose/poem?
No particular feelings about it :/
13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
Oh, so many, but like most young people don't follow it that much. It's just something old people nag about.
14. do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV?
I don't watch many movies or TV shows in general, so I don't have any strong feelings towards it.
15. a saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get?
Again, big country, varied languages. But let me think of something I can actually translate...
We call people who don't think before they speak cashew nuts (முந்திரிக்கொட்ட (Mundhiri Kotta)) because of how the the cashew nut protrudes out of the cashew fruit.
I chose a random one, there are many more, Tamil is a language built on metaphors lol
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
Most hated: THE GOD DAMN INDIAN ACCENT. Like 1) it originates from the welsh accent 2)it mostly comes from north Indian diasporas 3) NORTH INDIANS ALSO DON'T HAVE THAT ACCENT.
THERE ARE 22 DIFFERENT OFFICIAL LANGUAGES AND HUNDREDS OF UNOFFICIAL ONES, HOW THE HELL IS THERE SUPPOSED TO BE AN ALL ENCOMPASSING "INDIAN ACCENT"
Also, a million others, but we don't have time for that.
Agree with: we like our spices yes :}
17. are you interested in your country’s history?
YES YES YES. 100% YES. I am a history nerd about it. I have so much history trivia. Pls someone ask me about it.

I don't know, there are dialects I think, but I don't know much about them or even which one I speak lol.

People. For both. I will not elaborate ^-^

HI! Buriko-senpai, lately ive been to interested in japan and its whole history (one of the reasons being your blog because its so fascinating how much of kny is connected to japanese folklore and history) so i wanted to know if you would have some recs for me to learn japanese or its history... though its fine if it cant be answered bc this isnt much of a kny ask, still, thank you for inspiring me to learn about japanese culture and also throw me down the rabbit hole that is kny (❤´艸`❤)
Sup!! So glad I can inspire aspiring Japanese folklorists/aficionados/scholars! Or weebs, that's fine, let's own that term. And that totally is one of the things I love about KnY, it has so many connections to real life culture and lore!
When it comes to learning a language, the first step is asking yourself your goals. If you want to attain professional fluency you can expect to devote a lot of time and money to serious language acquisition, but if you want to be conversational and make friends, this is easier to do through dedicated self-study. It's also okay to just want to know travel basics, and to forget them all after taking a trip abroad! I've always taken hardcore textbook routes with the languages I wanted to hardcore acquire, and I've never used Duolingo or Rosetta Stone but I've liked Mango for gaining conversational travel phrases (which I made good use of while traveling and then forgot everything after traveling). What I suggest for self-study is finding an audio-course which you may be able to find at your local library, like Pimsleur, so you can play it on repeat and mimic and respond to what you hear. If you want an app for the writing system, I liked KanjiBox back in the day, and prior to that I used Tuttle Language Library kana/kanji workbooks. And for my other personal tips on language, see here! My tips do include active listening while watching anime. As for Japanese history, bill wurtz already has you covered in nine minutes, but gaining a general image of the different times periods and their order helps to build a framework for appreciating anime set in different time periods, as well as to tie famous places and people to their context. To take it further and fill in gaps in understanding, timelines of events can help, as long as they are focused on what will aid your understanding as opposed to, say, cramming for a Nerd Test. Wikipedia rabbit holes of bios of historical figures are also lots and lots and lots of fun.
As for deeper explorations of cultural topics and the history behind them, I've got my old blog about San-in region stories and adventures but it looks horrific with the Photobucket watermark all over everything. That said, you should still be able to download the silly and educational Kojiki mythology comics to avoid those watermarks, though. (Do note that my focus was only myths which took place in the San-in region, so like, a third of them, but not the whole Kojiki/Nihonshoki/Fudoki.)* *On this note, if I could ask Gotouge one question, it would be, "Did you happen to see my drawing of Kagutsuchi and did that influence the spirits inside Tanjiro's inner space????"
As for places I recently enjoy gaining insights, two of my go-to YouTube channels for this lately are Linfamy (watch out for dirty jokes everywhere, though I find his wording hilarious) and Let's Ask Shogo (I like how his explanations are straightforward and clear for general audiences, but still rich with detail).
Something that's been fun with the KnY phenomena is that it brings out all the nerds, and I learn so much from people putting out unofficial KnY books to introduce more of their knowledge specialties just because they can frame it with a KnY focus, or theorists who see connections in canon with existing lore that don't stand out to me. Part of the reason writing this blog is fun is because I get to bridge the language gap and tell people in the English speaking fandom cool things that people are saying in the Japanese fandom!

i will not put noli me tangere and el filibusterismo in perpetua, i will not put noli me tangere and el filibusterismo in perpetua, i will not put noli me tangere and el filibusterismo in perpetua, i will not-
rambling under the cut because i need to figure out something to finish this scene:
the reason why i bring it up at all is because i want to show what a mundane conversation between damien and avery is like when there's not really much else happening in their lives.
much of their conversations in arc 1 were mundane yes but it was like 'getting to know each other (and also letting damien heal a bit after going through the horrors)'. also i will probably need another pass at arc 1 act 2 because i think things are a little messy thematically and i start juggling quite a lot.
-> anyways i wanted that mundane friendship conversation to be about a piece of media. i think literary analysis is something the two of them would talk about (because that's exactly the type of nerds they are, and you've gotta write what you know, yknow?)
there is a precedent for including real books and pieces of media in perpetua. i did it early in arc 1 with mary shelley's frankenstein, to establish perpetua as an educated community, suggest at minerva's sense of humour, and introduce ideas like the rage towards one's creator (with a parent-child / mad science twist).
> haunted hollow (the owl house, but i can't just name drop that one because it's too recent) was mostly used to establish the kind of nerd that avery is, give damien an in-universe blorbo in the form of a zuko/hunter-alike.
>> i might go back to this in arc 3 when the gods chew damien out for not living up to their expectations and compare him to his own blorbo.
> ponyo (which has no in-universe name as of now) was also used to bring in the general theme of "it doesn't matter what you are, i still love you" to the context of damien and avery's friendship. i just needed it to work for a scene and i think it does?
so i absolutely can use real books. the question is whether i should use noli me tangere / el filibusterismo specifically:
el noli came to mind because i'm pretty into it at the moment, and it's thematically rich enough for damien to passionately talk at length about just how hard it goes.
> i'm trying to do this to show that he hasn't just been thinking about haunted hollow for the past 8 months or so, lmao. not that its unrealistic for that to happen, i just think he wouldn't. he's more the type to have a broad knowledge of a lot of different things and then excitedly draw connections between them, rather than fixate on one thing for a long time if that makes sense.
> on a meta level i want to show infodumping and passion in a positive light (avery finds it cute, etc.) because some of my family members don't really appreciate it. i feel like a freak sometimes, i really do.
BUT ANYWAY. the implications of the books
both noli me tangere and el filibusterismo are very much rooted in their socio-historical context, that being the philippines during the late spanish colonial era, and the way it portrays society and the systems in power is unfortunately evergreen. sometimes it feels like hardly anything has changed 137 years later.
in relation to perpetua, the books show a world that the characters have never experienced, whether that be past or present. damien has filipino heritage but the disconnect is apparent (so ironically it loops back around into being a pinoy diaspora experience?). its something to consider when the gods judge him for not being 'good enough representation'.
i dont know how this is going to play out because captain luna is broadly similar to ibarra, in that they're idealistic, upper class illustrado filipinos who studied abroad and had childhood sweethearts named maria-[something], neither of whom they got with in the end. with bonus queer aspects of their stories because tbh it reads like there was Something between ibarra and elias. but anyway. i dont think luna would've read noli and i dont know how he'd feel about the parallels between him and ibarra. probably not very good!
maria-isabel was named after maria clara YES, but i read noli and fili recently so everything surrounding the luna/ibarra parallels are a coincidence.
> damien will likely pick up on these parallels and that opens up an entire can of worms!! worms that i don't know what to do with! but also its an interesting book and i want more people to read it because it fucks severely.
if you have any suggestions for works that damien can be interested in (thematic relevance to greater story ideal) i would love to hear them

I’m also going to post the OC drawings that I posted on my main blog, since this would be a fitting place to put my Tintin OCs in.
So, as I did before, here are some new Tintin OCs I’ve made.
First up, we have Martin.
Martin is Tintin's twin brother. He's a socially awkward book nerd who's equally adventurous as his brother Tintin. However, he prefers to be on the safe side and try his best to keep himself (and Tintin!) safe. Then he slowly becomes more and more adventurous like his brother.
Some more info about Martin below:
In coming up with Martin's concept, I envisioned Tintin and Martin as basically being the Herge versions of Mario and Luigi. Tintin is especially protective of Martin because he cares deeply about him. Though they often have their occasional sibling rants and arguments, they both love each other as brothers.
Notes:
Since some people headcanon Tintin having been born around the 1910s at least, I headcanon that both Tintin and Martin were born on the same day in 1914-15 (I think?).
Martin was born at least twenty minutes after Tintin, making him slightly younger.
He does have a bit of quiff in his otherwise curled hair. (which might be a pretty good disguise advantage if the two had to switch places for a mystery???)
What really sets Martin apart from Tintin is his glasses. As a kid, he started having vision problems due to his nearsightedness. So he got glasses.
Additionally, Martin has a severe peanut allergy. But he didn’t notice it until he was seven and accidentally ate some peanuts with chocolate. After he was treated, Tintin and one of the orphanage administrators were told that Martin had an anaphylactic reaction to the peanuts he ate. During this time, the concept of allergies was relatively new, so Tintin wasn't sure what this meant.
But until adulthood, Tintin had made it clear that he had to keep Martin from accidentally eating peanuts. Which meant that he had to literally ask if a food had peanuts while they were eating out, prep his meals any time he visited, and regularly obtain his allergy medicine.
Additionally, Tintin has had to carry around syringes with Martin’s antihistamine formula for emergencies. I plan on doing a short comic explaining this…
Martin is a total bookworm, and he spends most of his time reading. This has often led to people thinking he's a weirdo, since he's always got his nose in a book. Which kind of annoys Tintin, because he doesn't like people thinking Martin is weird.
As kids, both Tintin and Martin have had their fair share of bullying. Tintin was often seen as the problematic child, because he often picked fights with the other kids. But often times, this was usually out of protecting Martin.
And whenever Martin tried to protect Tintin from his bullies, it usually resulted in him getting hurt bad in the process. Because he wasn’t a very strong fighter.
He likes going on adventures, but isn’t so used to the kind of adventure that Tintin goes through. He’s easily surprised by guns, bombs, and whatever kind of shit Tintin encounters on a daily basis.
Here's one headcanon I thought of in coming up with Martin's character that I thought would be an interesting tie-in to Tintin's first adventure: When they worked together at a local journal, Tintin and Martin were both candidates for an opportunity to travel abroad to Soviet Russia and do some on-the-field reporting. However, because there was only one available spot, Martin allowed Tintin to take it because he didn't feel like he'd be cut out for the job.
Martin lives in the same apartment building as Tintin, but he lives two stories above him. But on special occasions, he spends the night in Tintin's apartment. Mostly because he likes spending time with Snowy.
Aside from reading, Martin likes baking, as well as drawing, bike riding, and crocheting.
Martin is an absolute pro at crocheting. He’s good at crocheting, and anything he makes will be a gift for either Tintin, Snowy, or their friends.
So this is pretty much what you need to know about Martin.
Stay tuned for more Tintin fan OCs!
