nethyraelyss and her several siblings were ‘born’ the day the earth experienced a huge tremor and its crust cracked open, exposing a number of eggs all a various shade of hue.

nethyra and her twin brother’s egg was a warped color, half black and purple and half ( color tbd by mun ).

the eggs’ colors matched the scales of its dragon/s. for nethyraelyss, she was a impossibly midnight hue, with purple managing to peek through in certain lighting. because of such, she was deemed ‘the midnight dragon’ out of her ‘siblings.’ 

nethyra and her twin were ever close as they grew up. in fact, the clan believed in loyalty to one another first, anything else second. the twins got up to their mischief as all dragons would, creating havoc, humoring human lives, having their fun. 

but dragons were supposed to age out of this wild youth. nethyra’s brother did. however, she did not. nethyra became known for her reckless ways and her selfish pursuit of entertainment. it wasn’t that she sought to hurt her kind, but she felt like something was always missing in her life. boredom crept in and made her starve for all else. 

eventually, realizing she was a risk to them all, nethyra’s twin and her siblings betrayed her. it was around the very late middle ages when this happened. when dragons were told in every tale. they enlisted the help of a witch and pushed nethyra into a deep slumber like death, far beneath the earth’s crust. 

when she awoke again, it was 8 years ago, in the midst of war. her brother had finally freed her from her hibernation, in hopes she’d ‘come to her senses’ and help him and the dying members of their family. and while she did help in some ways, it was more or less because her wrath saw no end to its claim. 

tw death. nethyra burned battles to the ground in her anger and pain. but even she couldn’t stop the death of her original siblings, watching as they fell one by one. and despite their betrayal, she fell into anguish because of it. especially when she watched her twin brother seemingly die on the battlefield. 

she flew away from the scene, fighting throughout the world in her misery and her anger. she became known as the ‘nethyra endsetter’ for her ability to cause panic on any side of the war, due to the fact that she didn’t play favorites when she destroyed. 

which is why she got injured about a year ago. nethyra almost met her own fate but was thankfully taken in by a young ( ish ) werewolf. said werewolf dragged her to the pack and helped her recover from her wounds. it was only then that nethyra realized whose pack it was. an original werewolf’s. namely, the one with the fabled human lover. 

nethyra thought him and his pack foolish for trying to create peace and saving all lives, regardless species. but over time, the dragon watched as the pack’s deeds were done, and how the werewolf’s human lover fought beside him in an act of love despite the backdrop of hate. and it very slowly changed her view of the world and her hand in its affairs, not that she would admit it so openly. when the original werewolf planned on making the sanctuary in rome, nethyra followed - for better or worse - as a faithful friend of his. despite being conflicted about marrying an enemy, or officially ‘settling down.’

the light of the horizon.

nethyra was a brat that never grew up, until she had no one else left to take care of her mess. when her siblings died, so too did most of her selfish ways and her ‘thirst for fun,’ which is how the original werewolf and his pack managed to convince her to start looking for a deeper connection to this world than simply creating chaos. 

she’s sharp-witted, sarcastic, teasing, venomous. she can be your friend one minute, and knock you down a size or two the next. she’s also very guarded because of her family’s betrayal and because of the trauma she faced on the battlefield after barely waking. regardless of her ways, nethyra deeply loved her family and genuinely cares about her people. so to see them fall was a sight that brought her melancholy and guilt. 

even in their ‘human skin,’ dragons can manipulate fire. nethyra is known for hers, particularly because of her chaotic soul and rage. 

in her dragon form, nethyraelyss is a giant amongst dragons. so too is her twin brother. original dragons are the size of mountains. paired with their strength, their power, and their near invincibility, the sight of one on your enemy’s side would make anyone fearful.

nethyra just actually wants love and acceptance and family and she’ll never fucking say that but rip she does.

Hi, I am about to go on a long rant about how great RWBY Vol 6 Chapter 11 was cuz yoooooo I got some opinions. Spoilers under the cut.

First off let me say Fuck this episode (in good nature) cuz I waited all week to see it, halfway through I realized they weren’t going to finish the battle(s) in this episode and that I was going to have to wait a-whole-nother week to see the conclusion and ya girl impatient (although the pacing and suspense were still great, I don’t want anyone to mistake my impatience as actual criticism).

First battle scene was great, some key points: Jaune and Ruby devising the plan Qrow got some motivation back Ruby using her semblance to kick ass Qrow turning into a Crow Maria Boot Lady is def cray cray Weiss using her semblance to kick ass and save people Team JNR working together to beat up an old lady Video games teach important life lessons apparently (I knew it) Ruby not actually knowing if Weiss would catch her Nora called Ren her man Jaune using his semblance to keep Nora from getting too hurt (I think, that’s at least how I interpreted it) Maria firing at boot lady (I refuse to learn her name, bitter bitch), I like to think because she knew she could divert her focus. The plane starting to go down which then immediately cuts to black. All of it added together and had so much suspense and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Only when it faded to black did I then remember “Oh yeah, Blake and Adam were still fighting”. And while the tension of the battle was there, there were still funny moments. Now let me crack my knuckles real quick and tell you how much I loved the second half of this episode. Let me start off by saying how good a character Adam is. Well I should say how well written cuz boi is a hot shit on fire, as a person. I think CRWBY did a great job creating and writing him because I hate him so much and that’s really what you want for a villain, to be hated. Also what makes him a good villain is that while “Adam” is a character, this character is a real person in our world, an abusive ex-lover that turns themselves into a victim in order to justify abusing you. So not only is he a good villain but it’s a teaching moment like “Does this character remind you of someone you know? That’s not good, throw them away!” CRWBY also does a good job reminding you how abusive he is in his dialogue alone. When he said ”I wouldn’t have to be doing this if you just behaved but you’re selfish” like, my eyes went wide and I yelled Fuck you! (at work I might add). I think any lesser writers would have had him say “I’m doing this because I loved you and you hurt me so bad” creating sympathy towards him and justifying his actions vs showing how delusional and manipulative he really is. Character Rant Over, back to the fight. I love all fights in RWBY cuz they’re so exciting and well done. This one has so much tension due to Adam and Blake being involved and then so much suspense cuz we all knew Yang was on her way but like WHEN was she gonna get there. Did anyone else worry that CRWBY was gonna do us dirty again and not let us see Adam’s eyes? I watched his character trailer live at RTX and let me tell you, the auditorium was filled with loud groans and swear words in different languages. That being said boi has beautiful blue eye(s?) Also if anyone watched this past RWBYRW, everyone was wishing/hoping/praying that Yang would sneak up and hit Adam with Bumblebee and CRWBY fucking delivered. I only wished it could have been in slow motion so I can really appreciate how much that would have hurt him. Then Yo my girl swoops in, remains calm in the face of the man that cut off her arm and kicks so much ass, like god damn I would die for Yang Xiao Long (also sweet fucking critique of Adam’s semblance, my girl ain’t afraid to get hit cuz she’s gonna dish it back twice as hard. Totally wish she would have called him a little bitch instead of cheap but that’s personal preference) And for this next scene I’m gonna go on another Character Rant. I know in an earlier episode Blake, trying to make amends, said she was going to protect Yang next time and Yang immediately became stand offish. A lot of people thought it was because Yang was prideful and didn’t like needing help, but I actually think it’s something more than that. Both Yang and Blake went through different experiences during and after the Battle at Beacon. Let me break some things down. Blake had a person from her past come in, ruin her new home, and hurt someone she loves and cares for (not saying this in a shipper sense although I love bumblebee) Blake leaves her team because she feels this happened because of her indirectly and wishes them to be safe. Yang while protecting her teammate faces an incredible injury. While having to cope through losing an arm and then going through PTSD, the friend and teammate she did this for left, leaving her feel abandoned again. So she has to kind of do it alone.

And now that everyone’s back together, it’s still tense because Blake is guilty and Yang’s still kind of mad but what neither of them realized until that moment in the shed is that the guilt and anger don’t coincide. Blake is guilty because she “let Yang get hurt” and has the impression that is why Yang is upset with her. Yang is actually upset that Blake left and has never made it seem like she blames Blake for what happened. So when Blake says don’t worry, I’ll protect you, I think Yang gets upset because It was never about her protecting Yang, it was always about fighting together. And that brings us to this scene where Blake says “She's not protecting me, I'm not protecting her. We’re protecting each other.” It was so great and again I yelled out loud YES because she finally understood and it was so satisfying to see that. This episode was so fucking good and I can’t imagine how hard CRWBY has been working but it paid off so well and huge shout out to them cuz they killed it this season.

He found a number of fire-proofing spells that would have no effect if they decided to cut his head off, and figured out how to adapt an invulnerability spell he had been trying to find a way to cast on Arthur without him noticing so that it would protect him from being decapitated, but it would have no effect on anything but metal. Despite all his frantic searching, he did not find a teleportation spell, because that would have been too simple and if there was one thing Merlin had learned in his years at Camelot, it was that nothing was ever simple.

Scorpio Mars: With mars in its rulership... this placement is very very powerful. they have a way of oozing this energy thats just calming but alluring, like you could lay in their lap all day and everything would make sense. with a tinge of darkness that makes it easy to connect with them because once you know them you feel them in your soul and its like you become one with them. very attentive and loving in bed, they know how their way around a human body,,,, ill leave it at that.

Aries Mars: This is... wow what a placement. honestly this is the most passionate aries placement (yes yes its in its rulership but still) and they're always so dedicated and controlled and eager to take life by its horns. they're incredibly inspiring and make me want to do better. top tier lovers honestly they want to give you the world in the few moments spent with you, often can go multiple rounds and like to have fun?? will make you laugh, will share soft moments 10/10 mars placement, love my sister sign mars

oooooo so many questions !!! they were so fun to answer ~ i’m just gonna plop them all after a read more tho because i got detailed in some so it’s long !! thanks so much for sending the ask ♥

1. does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? which one are they closest with?

no siblings !!! hitoka is an only child. she’s not close with anyone in her family except for her mother.

2. what is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?

yachi and her mother have a generally good relationship, but it can be strained. up until she had the courage ( thanks to shoyo ofc, she can’t take that cred ) to stand up for herself at the train station, she kind of feared her mom ??? yachi was afraid of her judgment and negativity — and still can be to some degree — even though she’s much better at brushing it aside nowadays !!

3. what is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

ok so i actually hc that yachi’s dad passed away when she was younger :’(

they were definitely close !!! hitoka was a total daddy’s girl, constantly clinging to his side and demanding he give her piggy back rides n stuff. i like to think that her mom has always been some bomb ass bitch work diva, so her dad rly was the nurturer ( even tho they def shared the role well !! ) and he was v encouraging of yachi !!! he just knew all the right words to say when her mom had a hard time coming off as trying to be supportive and what not. when he was around, yachi was definitely more easygoing and her mom was a lotless intense.

4. has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?

just riding the coattails of my hc, her father passing away definitely did things to change her !! she was little when he passed, so she def didn’t have the coping skills to deal w it alone, which is kind of what she had to do ?? when her father died, her mother threw herself deeper into work, so yachi didn’t really have anyone to lean on and pretty much developed her nervous habits as a product of trying to cope with the loss and all the strange interactions she has had with her mom from then on out ??? she def doesn’t go around telling people her father has passed away or describing the toll it took on her, but it’s not something she exactlyhides either. if it comes up, it does. people can prob figure out that some of her weird antics have come from it.

5. on an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?

stray items like coins, a wad of stickynotes, a pen, chapstick

6. does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?

childhood dreams !!! lots of dreams about doing things with her mom and dad again

since she’s joined the team, she also has frequent dreams about seeing them win nationals and being there to give them all a big ol hug ♥ even grumpy tsukki !!

7. does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?

omfg anything & everything. hitoka has nightmares more often than not, though they’re very rarely based on tragedy. sometimes she’ll have sad dreams about her dad, but otherwise it’s pretty stupid things like accidentally showing up to class naked, embarrassing herself in front of people, letting down the team, etc.

she’s a nervous wreck and she can’t even escape it in her dreams smh

8. has your character ever fired a gun? if so, what was their first target?

no !!!  she would probably die out of anxiety before she could even get her hands on the thing

9. is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?

maybe only a little ?? her family has always been pretty well off, but her dad passing def changed things up at least a little. her mom has always been the breadwinner though, so it’s nothing too drastic !!

10. does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?

more clothing. give her 3 billion layers and she’ll finally feel a little comfortable in her own skin. really though, she barely has a bias ?? she likes to dress in cute skirts and dresses and all that, but yachi’s always going to feel a little self conscious about any skin she shows.

11. in what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?

this would be way too hard to rate. she gets scared by almost everything she encounters to some degree, and it’s always genuine fear. honestly, finally deciding to join the team was probably the scariest moment for her ?? she was really happy to join, but there’s a lot of pressure involved for her !! she wants to do her absolute best to make kiyoko proud, help out the boys, and prove to her mom that she can be invested.

12. in what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?

good q. it’s never happened.

probably any time she’s home, hanging around in her room and drawing for fun.

13. is your character bothered by the sight of blood? if so, in what way?

yes and no! she gets really freaked by it, but not enough to where she can’t deal with it. part of her job is tending to any injuries the boys might get ( which happens more often than not with reckless people like noya and hinata smh ) so the experience definitely helps her get more comfortable!

14. does your character remember names or faces easier?

definitely faces. she always knows if she’s seen or met someone, but names can slip by occasionally — which send her into a panic until she can figure out what their name is.

15. is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? why or why not?

no way !! yachi has no obsession with money, she just wants to find her place and be happy. she’s never had to stress about finances or anything, so it isn’t really something she’s thinking of unless prompted.

16. which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?

for herself, happiness. for the sake of her mom, success.

her mom is always pushing yachi to be successful whether it be in studies or in her hobbies, so she values it because she wants to make her mom proud. she’s passed up a few opportunities that might’ve made her happy because her mom pointed out that she might not be the most successful in it.

17. what was your character’s favorite toy as a child?

not really a toy, but her drawing pad and colored pencils !! she loves to draw and started young !!

18. is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?

hitoka admires ambition more. lbr; hanging around with kids like hinata, she’s not really going to come across any groundbreaking logic. however, she really admires him because he’s devoted and hardworking, and she aspires to be like him in that way. same goes for all the other boys on the team — some of them might not be the wisest, but they have a lot of heart !!  in her eyes, it takes a lot more courage to make a mistake and still keep going… if that makes sense.

19. what is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?

hitoka has a bad habit of making calls about people before actually learning about them; for instance, thinking ukai was a murderer or hinata was a manager. it’s never come between relationships because what she thinks is more often than not outright ridiculous, but it can make for awkward situations.

20. in what ways does your character compare themselves to others? do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?

out of self-criticism, she compares herself to others in most every way imaginable: beauty, intelligence, usefulness, etc. she’s really intimidated by literally everyone she comes across because she sees their strengths and bonds from an outside view and kind of glorifies them ?? she just thinks everyone has a purpose except for her, and that she’s kinda useless. the poor bean. :’(
