Snow - Chapter 15
Entire fic. AO3.
---
Wei Ying is still basically sitting in Lan Zhan’s lap, and his temple is stuck against Lan Zhan’s cheek as Wei Ying dials Jiang Cheng’s number. It’s not the gentlest way of easing Jiang Cheng into this, but Wei Ying has found out a long time ago that gentle easing tends to backfire dramatically where Jiang Cheng is concerned. So, he shamelessly snuggles into Lan Zhan’s side and holds the phone so that both of them are visible in the video.
“What the fuck are you doing?” is the first thing out of Jiang Cheng’s mouth once he finally answers the call.
“Hello, dearest brother,” Wei Ying sings. “I love you too, and it’s a pleasure to see you.”
“Who is this?” Jiang Cheng asks, eyeing Lan Zhan suspiciously through the video feed. He clearly has no interest in pleasantries and idle chat.
“That, my dear brother,” Wei Ying announces with a wry smile, “is my boyfriend, Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan, this is my very unrefined and rude brother, Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng, I’m going to move in with Lan Zhan, so I have to give you my new address. Can you also inform your parents?”
“Excuse me??” Jiang Cheng barks through the phone. “How can you be moving in with someone I’ve never heard about? I won’t allow it!”
“Jiang Cheng, Jiang Cheng,” Wei Ying sighs. “You forget we’re all adults now. I can do whatever I want, and I’ve decided to move in with Lan Zhan. If you’re a good boy, I’ll invite you and you can come see our rabbits. But you can’t shout, they’re delicate.”
“I CAN SHOUT AS MUCH AS I WANT TO, WHAT THE HELL,” Jiang Cheng shouts into his mobile phone. “Why the fuck do you suddenly have a boyfriend? And since when do you like men? He didn’t do something bad to you, did he?”
“Tss, now that’s kind of rude, Jiang Cheng,” Wei Ying teases, a little amused that his brother is reacting exactly the way he imagined him to react. “And it’s not men I like. It’s Lan Zhan that I like. Let me tell you, if you saw him in the flesh, you would know why–”
“NO!!!” Jiang Cheng shouts. Then he takes a deep breath and pinches his nose. “Why are you always like this? I haven’t heart from you for like two weeks, and the next thing I know, you’re moving in with a man you picked up… who knows where?”
Well, that isn’t an entirely inaccurate assessment of the situation. And technically, Wei Ying picked him up at a bus station, which is not the ideal place for a budding romance. Or rather, Lan Zhan picked him up at a bus station. But he thinks it might be better if that little tidbit remains a secret between him and Lan Zhan alone.
“Jiang Cheng, I always knew you worried!” Wei Ying singsongs obnoxiously. “Ah, my heart is full of love and care.”
Jiang Cheng glares at him through the camera.
“But A-Cheng, Xiao Cheng, didi,” Wei Ying sighs. “There’s no need to worry. I’ve known Lan Zhan for a long time. Longer than you, actually. And if it wasn’t for him, I would never have been found by Father. You see, you should thank him that you got to have such an excellent adoptive brother.”
Jiang Cheng snorts dismissively.
“Excellent? You’ve been a pain in my ass since the day we’ve met. He should’ve kept you when he had the chance, my life would be much easier, then.”
“I will.”
Jiang Cheng does a double take at Lan Zhan, and even Wei Ying has to look up at Lan Zhan, a little confused.
“Lan Zhan?”
“I will keep him. If you cannot be grateful for your brother, I will take care of Wei Ying from now on.”
The ‘because you apparently can’t’ is not spoken, but still heavily implied.
Jiang Cheng sputters with inexpressible rage for a moment, so Wei Ying quickly steps in before the entire situation actually comes to blows.
“Stop,” he chides. “Both of you. Lan Zhan, Jiang Cheng is stupid and grouchy, but he’s still a good brother. Jiang Cheng, Lan Zhan takes good care of me. He’s the best boyfriend I could wish for. You can come here and see for yourself, but nothing you say can change my mind.”
Jiang Cheng glares again, this time at Wei Ying. Eventually, he asks, “Does Yanli know?”
“Yes, and she has given me her blessing.”
Jiang Cheng huffs. “We’ll see about that. Try to hold back on any other stupid ideas for a while, you hear me?”
And with that, Jiang Cheng hangs the phone up. Wei Ying breathes a deep sigh.
Lan Zhan pulls him closer, hugging him tight and burying his nose in Wei Ying’s hair.
“Oh man,” Wei Ying eventually sighs. “I shouldn’t have spoiled Jiang Cheng so much when he was small. I used to tell him that we’ll always be together, and now that I’m working here and not in Yunmeng, he’s constantly grouchy.”
“I will not give you back,” Lan Zhan says petulantly, and it makes Wei Ying smile. It’s always a really good feeling when Lan Zhan makes it clear that he has no plans of letting Wei Ying go again. There is still a part of Wei Ying’s brain that hasn’t learned to trust this new reality yet, that still expects to be shown the door at any time. But Lan Zhan never gives him an opportunity to doubt.
“I’m not leaving,” he assures Lan Zhan, and it makes him nervous and giddy at the same time.
Indeed, he’s not leaving. He’s going to stay here, in this house, with Lan Zhan, from now on. He can have as much of Lan Zhan as he wants, from now on.
Wow, he thinks to himself. Wow. How did I get to be so lucky? I’m going to be living with Lan Zhan! And we have bunnies!
He remains in Lan Zhan’s arms a little longer, basking in the feeling of being right there, with Lan Zhan at his side. But then, he keeps thinking about their new bunnies, and with new vigour, he wriggles out of Lan Zhan’s hold.
“Come on, Lan Zhan,” he says, holding out his hand to help Lan Zhan up. “We should go look after the bunnies. I’m sure they must be getting hungry by now. They’re probably waiting for their dinner.”
Lan Zhan takes his hand and doesn’t let go until they have arrived at the rabbit pen.
---
They eat dinner together with Lan Huan, and afterwards, they sit in Lan Zhan’s room and discuss which things they will have to pick up from Wei Ying’s apartment, what can be sold and given away because it won’t be needed anymore, and all the other practical aspects of moving. Wei Ying is happy to leave most of it to Lan Zhan’s proficiency, if he’s honest. It’s not like he particularly cares about a lot of the stuff that he has. He needs his books and research materials, but a lot of that is at university, anyway. Some of his favourite things have already ended up here, anyway. And Wei Ying will happily part with his old furniture. It was cheap, anyway, and Lan Zhan’s bed is much more comfortable than his.
“And if there’s something I need,” he concludes, grinning at Lan Zhan from where he’s lounging on the bed in his now customary red robe, “I have a rich husband to buy it for me.”
There is a slight twitch in Lan Zhan’s movements that tells him what Wei Ying has started to suspect this afternoon: Lan Zhan has a weakness for a certain word. And We Ying will make use of that as often as he possibly can.
“I’m very disappointed, though,” he sighs dramatically and lifts one of his legs, so his robe slips open. “My husband has finally achieved his goal and has me exactly where he wants me to be, ready for him, and instead of giving me his manhood, he wants to talk about practical things.”
He can see that Lan Zhan’s ears are turning red, and smirks, self-satisfied.
“Well,” he sighs. “A man can always–”
He doesn’t get any further, because Lan Zhan stands at the edge of the bed the next moment, looking down at Wei Ying.
Wei Ying smirks and spreads his legs a little, so that the robe slips open a little more and reveals that he’s not wearing anything underneath.
“We’ve hardly seen each other all week,” he pouts. “I’ve been lonely.”
Instead of the expected reaction, however, Lan Zhan simply continues staring down at Wei Ying in silence.
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying whines. “I’ve been such a good boy. Haven’t I been a good boy all week?”
He lets one hand wander down his body, down to his abdomen and further in between his legs.
“I want you here,” he begs. He rubs a little at his opening, experimentally, and the thought of Lan Zhan fucking into him makes him shiver with excitement. “I want Lan Zhan to take me.”
He rubs himself again, and then lets one of his fingers slip into his entrance. He moans at the sensation, and he moans at the promise of sex. They’ve had sex on this bed before, that’s nothing new, but the thought that it really will be their bed from now on, one that they will share as partners, has him incredibly excited. He wants to be fucked into this bed by Lan Zhan, and make it theirs once and for all.
Finally, finally, Lan Zhan moves. He reaches out and takes Wei Ying’s hand, carefully extracting the finger Wei Ying slipped into himself.
“You’ve prepared yourself,” Lan Zhan observes quietly.
“Yes,” Wei Ying whines. “So Lan Zhan can fuck me good and hard. I’m all ready for you, please, Lan Zhan.”
Almost leisurely, Lan Zhan bends down and undoes the knot holding together Wei Ying’s robe. Lifting him up a little, he strips him out of it. Then he takes a soft tie, and fixes Wei Ying’s hands to the headboard, making sure that Wei Ying is comfortable. Only then, he strips off his own robe, revealing his beautiful and decidedly erotic body, and climbs onto the bed, leaning over Wei Ying.
Wei Ying is already hard and leaking just by being stripped and tied up by Lan Zhan, and the fire of desire burns hotly in his abdomen. There’s an ache there that wants to be filled. He wants Lan Zhan in him as soon as possible. They belong together now. He’s allowed to want things. He’s allowed to want Lan Zhan.
“Lan Zhan,” he groans, spreading his legs as much as he can. “Look at how wet and open I am for you. Take me, please.”
Lan Zhan gives Wei Ying a soothing kiss, and then sets out to explore his body from his fingertips downwards, making Wei Ying shiver and moan when Lan Zhan touches and explores all the sensitive spots that he can find on Wei Ying’s body, from the hollow of his shoulder to the inside of his thigh. After what seems to have been an eternity, Lan Zhan finally reaches the spot where Wei Ying wants to have him.
“Hmm,” Lan Zhan murmurs. “Wei Ying has indeed been a good boy. He deserves a reward.”
And then, just when Wei Ying thinks he’s getting fucked, Lan Zhan opens his mouth and licks at the droplets that are leaking from Wei Ying’s penis. Wei Ying gasps at the unexpected sensation, and he has to keep himself from screaming the next moment, when Lan Zhan slips a finger into his entrance and unerringly dives in to find the spot that makes him see stars.
“Lan… Zhan,” he manages brokenly as Lan Zhan starts suckling on his erect penis in earnest, and slips a second finger inside him. “If you do that, I’m going to come very, very quickly.”
Lan Zhan does something very clever with his tongue and his finger, and Wei Ying can only shake and writhe in desperate arousal.
“Lan Zhan,” he moans again. “I want yours, put it in, put it in.”
But Lan Zhan has no mercy. He keeps moving his fingers and his mouth mercilessly, finding just the places that drive Wei Ying wild. He can do nothing but lie there and take it as the tension in his body rises and rises, a desperate frenzy building in his body, a desire to beg Lan Zhan for more and beg him for mercy at the same time.
Lan Zhan’s fingers find that spot inside him again and again, the place that feels so good that his body jerks uncontrollably with every movement. It’s not enough, and yet, combined with Lan Zhan’s mouth on his dick, it’s too much – a sudden wave of electrifying pleasure and pain crashes over him, and he comes with a noise that sounds thoroughly inhuman.
He lies there for a moment, unaware of anything but the sensations that have him shaking and keening as Lan Zhan overstimulates every single sense of his body. He thinks he might be dying until Lan Zhan finally has mercy on him, and lets him go.
Wei Ying can only moan brokenly as Lan Zhan’s fingers slip out of him, leaving him a jittery, flushed mess. He somehow manages to beg Lan Zhan for a kiss. A kiss that Lan Zhan only gives him after he’s wiped his mouth.
(He’s so goddamn considerate for a man that loves to absolutely wreck Wei Ying until he can’t stand.)
Lan Zhan then releases the ties on Wei Ying’s wrists and gathers him in his arms, and they lie there for a while, basking in the silence.
“You’re still hard,” Wei Ying mumbles after a while. “We should fuck.”
“Patience,” Lan Zhan replies, kissing Wei Ying’s temple. “We will.”
“Good,” Wei Ying says, and closes his eyes to doze a little. He’s not really asleep, just enjoying Lan Zhan’s gentle hands on his still-sensitive body and trying to recover a little bit of energy. He’s not sure he can actually come again tonight, but he still wants Lan Zhan inside him.
It takes him a little while to recover, but after he’s finally stopped feeling all tingly and weird, he wriggles out of Lan Zhan’s hold and flips Lan Zhan on his back, straddling him. Lan Zhan looks beautiful from this vantage point, and there’s something very exciting about having a man like that between his thighs. There are things he wants to do to that man.
“Mmmh,” he hums. “Maybe I should try fucking you sometime.”
Not tonight, though.
He doesn’t wait for an answer from Lan Zhan, and instead raises his hips and moves back, steading himself so he slip Lan Zhan inside him. Lan Zhan’s hands rise and wrap rightly around Wei Ying’s waist to keep him steady, and then, with a moan, Wei Ying sinks on Lan Zhan’s dick. He wriggles a little to get used to the sensation, but yeah. That’s it. He still feels a little tingly inside, but he loves the feeling of having Lan Zhan inside him. Right now, Lan Zhan belongs only to him.
With the support of Lan Zhan’s steady grip, he starts moving, trying out what feels best. From time to time, Lan Zhan’s fingers twitch and tighten, and sometimes he releases a hard breath. So Wei Ying makes a game of it, experimenting with the pace and angle that he sets, and testing which movements make Lan Zhan jerk and pump up into him.
For once, it’s not him that’s most desperate to come, and the moan Lan Zhan lets out when he tightens around his dick is delicious. He keeps working Lan Zhan up, enjoying the look of desire on Lan Zhan’s face, and tries to tease more and more expressions out of him.
“Do you like it?” he asks as he sinks down on Lan Zhan’s dick again. “Being inside me? Knowing that your dick is in here right now?”
He taps his lower abdomen mischievously. Lan Zhan doesn’t reply, but his eyes blaze with desire.
“Do you like it?” Wei Ying asks again, grinning. “Filling me with your cum?”
That makes Lan Zhan finally snap. The hands on Wei Ying’s waist tighten painfully, and the next thing he knows, Lan Zhan is flipping them around, flinging Wei Ying onto the mattress so hard that he bounces a little.
Wei Ying laughs as Lan Zhan reaches for him again and draws him closer. He excitedly spreads his legs to let Lan Zhan slip into him again.
For once, Lan Zhan is discomposed. He fucks Wei Ying into the mattress with the desperation of a drowning man, seeking his own pleasure with single-minded determination.
With fascination, Wei Ying watches as an intense furrow develops between Lan Zhan’s brows. He grabs for him, holds him closer, lets Lan Zhan push him down with all the strength that he has. Lan Zhan jerks and pumps into him once, twice, three times, and then, he moans and releases his seed into Wei Ying before he finally stills.
Wei Ying feels victorious. It was all him. The person who make Lan Zhan lose control like that was all him.
He loves Lan Zhan so much.
They stay like that for a moment, intertwined tightly, Wei Ying’s legs wrapped around Lan Zhan’s hips and Lan Zhan grasping for Wei Ying, trying to keep him in his arms as tightly as he can. Wei Ying gives him tiny, soft kisses as Lan Zhan comes down from his high, and when he feels wicked (which is often) Wei Ying teases him with gentle, tickling fingers that make him shiver.
“Such a good man,” Wei Ying whispers into Lan Zhan’s ear. “Giving me all I want.”
Lan Zhan opens his eyes and searches for Wei Ying.
“Mine,” he says once their gazes have locked.
“Yes, Lan Zhan, oh husband mine,” Wei Ying assures him with a smile and a kiss. “I’m all yours.”
Then he grins mischievously.
“Now, about that part of me fucking you…”

Caught in Hot Water - 00Q
((Written for MI6 Cafe’s anon prompt gift exchange, week 1. Just some silly fluff for the winter.))
Q has never dealt well with cold. Cold makes him shiver, and shivering makes him annoyed as well as robs him of his concentration, which he dearly needs while he’s at work and among all the delicate projects that they have at Q Branch. (Not to mention when he’s guiding an agent through a mission.)
Therefore, layers are Q’s thing. And cardigans, an inseparable part of his attire by now, are an excellent way to layer up, that he has learnt over the years.
Too bad it’s not really working at the moment.
It’s getting late, and Q Branch is practically empty. Q’s working on a special project of his (which is not an exploding pen, no matter how much a certain menace of a double oh agent keeps pestering him about it) because he’s been too busy to focus on it lately, and he’s got the weekend off so if he wasn’t here now he’d need to wait until at least the middle of next week to continue with it, and he’s feeling inspired right now, thank you very much.
So he works steadily on and, to the best of his ability, ignores the way it gets colder and colder as the clock ticks on. He times his work perfectly between mugs of hot tea and uses those breaks to move between locations inside the branch - he needs the labs for testing the radius of the explosion - and realises only after his seventh mug of tea just how late and how cold it has become.
Q blinks and puts the Scrabble mug - still half full of lukewarm tea; he could swear that his tea is getting colder sooner and sooner after each mug he finishes - down on his desk and glances at the clock. It’s long past midnight, which is nothing unusual; what is unusual, however, is that he can practically see the clouds forming every time he breathes out. Q shivers and wraps his arms around himself, rubbing at his upper arms to no avail.
He leaves his office and steps into the branch proper. Much to his puzzlement, it feels just as cold if not colder than in his office, and Q surmises that something must have happened to the heat. Of course, there’s no way that he’d get anyone over to fix it, what with it being so late and all, so he’s now faced with a dilemma: he can either give up, leave Six and go home to his cats, or he can stay and bear the coldness and the shivering while he finishes his work.
Or… technically he could, if he really wanted to, sneak into the double oh agents’ locker room and use the jacuzzi there to warm up.
Q knows that he should just forget all about such silly ideas. He’s a grown man, a bit of shivering, while annoying, is hardly anything he can’t survive. But it’s late, and Q’s feeling reckless; and to his knowledge he’s one of the only - if not the only - people still at Six.
Q makes up his mind and heads for his office for a final check up of the premises. After all, the last thing he needs is someone else being around when he’s doing something like this. (And Q never does things like this. He doesn’t. Except, apparently, when it’s too cold for him to function properly.)
He makes sure that no one is at or anywhere near the locker room - especially not Bond, because he’d rather not see 007 while he’s naked and thus even more vulnerable than usual - and afterwards he stops by the kitchen to get some more tea. (He leaves the Scrabble mug with its now cold contents emptied in the kitchen sink, though.) This time he chooses his travel mug to house his beloved Earl Grey, as it’s easier to carry it with him upstairs. It’s also better to keep his tea hot for a longer amount of time, which is always a good thing.
Q takes himself and his travel mug to the lifts, trying his best to stop the shivering. He thinks longingly of the combination of the hot water and the hot tea, and waits for the lift doors to open again.
By the time Q finally reaches the locker rooms, his shivering has gotten almost out of control. He wonders briefly if the temperatures are already down to below zero, or at least close to it, then hurries inside, eager to shed his clothes and get some proper warmth.
Perhaps he ought to have looked around a little bit closer, but he is cold and miserable and wants to get warm so he can finish working and finally go home… so he cannot be blamed, really.
Q sets the water temperature hot enough to warm himself properly and turns on the water to fill the jacuzzi. Meanwhile, he realises that he has forgotten his towel, so he does a bit of investigating to find an unused towel - he really doesn’t want to use a towel one of the agents has already been using, but luckily Six is well stocked and there are stacks of clean towels easily found within a close distance.
Q returns to the jacuzzi perfectly on time to turn off the water. He undresses quickly, leaving his clothing nearby in a neat pile, places his travel mug in reach next to the side of the jacuzzi, and then, finally, slips into the water.
The warmth is instantaneous, and Q may or may not have groaned a little at the feeling of it on his chilled skin. He sinks in down to his neck and leans his back against the side of the tub, and then turns on the pump to start the whirlpool jets. Then, he takes a sip of his tea, puts it down again, and closes his eyes to enjoy the warmth.
”Hello, Q.”
Q flinches almost violently, and his eyes fly open at that smooth, familiar voice.
”007?! What in the bloody hell?!”
Bond chuckles. ”Is that a way to greet a coworker, now?”
”What are you doing here?!”
”I noticed that it has gotten quite cold around here, and I thought to do something to get warmer. I see that you had the same idea,” Bond explains, even as he casually starts to remove his clothing, right under Q’s horrified (if secretly fascinated) eyes.
”Bond! What are you- Do not even think about getting any ideas!” Q warns Bond, but naturally his words make absolutely no difference to Bond, who keeps on removing his clothes until he is just as naked as Q is. The only difference is that his clothing is in a heap on the floor, which surprises Q a little, as usually Bond is very meticulous with his suits. (Not that he knows it for sure, except that he does, but it’s not like he’s been spying on Bond or anything, he’s just… paid attention when he’s been Bond’s handler on missions, that’s all.)
The jacuzzi is by no means large, but it is made to fit two to three people. So theoretically, there should be more than enough space for Bond and Q to share it and keep their distance. But clearly, that is not what Bond has in mind at all. No, he gets into the tub in all his naked glory - Q does his best to avert his eyes - and plops himself down right next to Q, fully ignoring Q’s half-formed protests and the way he keeps trying to move away from him.
”Bond! Do the words ’personal space’ mean nothing to you?”
Instead of answering, Bond leans right over Q - squishing him against the side of the tub in the process - and gets a hold of his travel mug.
”I see you’ve come prepared,” Bond quips, and without further ado, takes a sip of Q’s tea. ”I take it back,” he then says and offers the mug to Q. ”You’ve come only half prepared.”
Q accepts his tea from Bond and blinks. ”Because it’s only tea?” he guesses.
Bond nods. ”One would have thought that you could have used a splash of whisky in your tea to warm you up.”
”Not at work, though,” Q points out quite sensibly, but Bond simply scoffs.
”It’s way past midnight, and everyone else is long gone. Nobody would find out.”
”You’re still here,” Q says. ”I was under the impression that you, too, would be long gone.”
”Where’s the fun in that?” Bond counters. ”I had a feeling that if I just stayed here, something wonderful would happen. And here we are.”
Q blinks, then frowns. ”You wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with the heat breaking down, would you?”
”Me, Quartermaster?” Bond repeats, perfectly innocent. Too innocent, Q thinks, and glares at the man.
”You, Bond. Though I must admit, I’ve no idea how you knew that I’d come here instead of just going home.”
”Well,” Bond says, slow and thoughtful, ”even the most perfect plans are dependent on luck. And luck is what I always have.”
Q rolls his eyes, but he cannot deny being amused.
”And I know you, Q,” Bond adds. ”You’re a curious person, not unlike a cat. I’ve not been dropping all those hints about the jacuzzi for nothing, after all.”
Q feels like he ought to get annoyed at being played like this by Bond of all people, but he finds that cannot find it in himself to do so. Not right now at least, when the water’s warm and Bond right next to him is an even warmer, comfortable weight against his side. He’s not trying anything, he’s just there, looking at Q, his gaze not drifting below Q’s neck, and waiting for his response.
So Q sighs and leans over the side of the tub to put his tea mug away. When he turns back to Bond, he is ready.
”Bond?”
”Yes, Q?”
”Are you going to kiss me or not?”
Bond grins and leans in close. ”I thought you’d never ask,” he murmurs and covers Q’s lips with his in a kiss that is the perfect blend of gentle and passionate.
Q’s never dreamed of being kissed in a jacuzzi, but now that it’s a reality, he can only wonder why ever not, as the feeling of the jets surrounding their bodies when Bond’s lips work their magic on Q’s is absolutely wonderful.
Eventually, lack of air forces them to pull away from the kiss. Bond smiles at him, gentle and soft, and pulls him onto his lap. Q has no qualms about that, not even when one of Bond’s arms finds its way around his waist and he brings the other up to run his fingers through Q’s hair.
When the arm around his waist moves down to lightly cup one of his buttocks, though, then Q raises his head from Bond’s shoulder to look him straight in the eye.
”I am not having sex with you in a jacuzzi,” Q states firmly.
”I never expected you to,” Bond assures him, smiling. ”I have a perfectly good, big bed for that waiting for us at home. And I promise to keep you warm until I can get you there.”
With a promise like that, what can Q do but say yes?
And if he swears to himself that he’ll make Bond keep his word even after the man has gotten him into his bed, what of it? Bond’ll find out when Q refuses to move away from his warmth even after the sex is finished.
And if he’s smart, he’ll make sure that Q never has the need to go and find his warmth elsewhere.

Every Road Leads to an End, Pt. 1
Y’all had to know this was coming at some point lol. My first Kingsman fic, this one in particular set Post-Golden Circle. I’ve got a lot more planned, for this time period plus during each movie and in between, but for now, I think this is a good start.
A forewarning that I’m taking canon and making it what I want, because while I love the movies dearly, there’s also a good number of things I’d have maybe done differently, or at least messed about with and considered changing. For one, the little pup Eggsy gets Harry in Golden Circle? He’s around again, because I wanted to know what happened to the puppy. I named him PJ, for Pickle, JR (after dear Mr. Pickle.)
So, here that is!
My love to all who read/like/reblog!
“You texted me, and I quote, ‘Major emergency, come quickly.’ This-”
“Is an emergency,” Harry finished.
Eggsy stared down at PJ, who was wagging his tiny tail happily. “This is dog-sitting. I thought there was a mission, and I’m only supposed to be called back in the event of that or-.”
“There is, this!”
“Okay, and where are you off to then? If there isn’t a mission, aside from watching your dog,” Eggsy asked as he picked up PJ.
“I...have a date.”
“You have...where did you meet...I have so many questions,” Eggsy said.
“And they will have to wait; I am already late. Thank you for arriving so promptly, instructions are on the fridge regarding PJ’s dinner and bedtime, and I’ve left you money for your dinner,” Harry was like a bullet on track to its target, walking fast enough Eggsy could hardly keep up as he followed him to his bedroom.
“Oi! Now I get to ask at least one question before you go.”
“Fine, one. Then I need to finish dressing; I cannot find the right color pocket square I need-”
“I’ll help you find it if you answer,” Eggsy interrupted. “Where’d you meet her?”
“Him.”
“Okay, him. Where was it? I mean, you’re something of a homebody, when you aren’t working-”
“I am not,” Harry scoffed, and turned to rifle through the pile of folded pocket squares tossed on his bed. “I do things.”
“You texted me a week ago, and I quote-”
“That is quite enough of my quotes, I think.”
“You keep interrupting like that; I’ll just find more of them. Anyway, as I was saying, you said ‘lots of excitement tonight, saw a fox in the garden.’ I mean...Harry.”
“Are you going to help me find it, or not? I need the same shade of salmon as my tie, and I’ve found every other shade under the bloody sun, and I even sort these by shade, I’ll have you know, and,” Harry sighed and tossed a handful of squares back onto the bed.
“You’re nervous!”
“I have been in situations far worse than a first date; I am not made nervous by this,” Harry shook his head, and shuffled through another bunch of squares.
“You are absolutely a nervous wreck, oh my God. This is adorable! Look at your dad, PJ. I have never seen you like this.”
Harry sighed again, clearly exasperated, and turned to Eggsy.
“Put the face away, I’ll help. Now, don’t get mad, but could you just wear a different color tie, that matches one of the squares we know are here and ready to be worn?”
The kiss on the cheek wasn’t expected, but it was sweet. “Eggsy! Genius! I’ll change it straightaway, then-ooh, I’m going to be even later! I don’t have an excuse for that, we had a reservation and everything...”
“Tell him I was late showing up. I don’t mind taking the blame,” Eggsy bit back a giggle as Harry whirled past him to another drawer. “Would I know him, if I saw him?”
Harry stopped dead.
“Harry?”
He turned again, a new silk light green tie in his hand. “I can’t...I will tell you. All of it, later. I promise you that. This is also, technically, a mission. That turned into more, and if anyone else with Kingsman or Statesman found out it had, the trouble we would be in.”
“So he works for Statesman?”
“No.”
“He works for us?”
“Eggsy, please,” Harry sighed desperately as he switched ties. “Like I said, I will tell you everything, later. Once things are more...solid.”
“As in your relationship with him, or the mission?” Eggsy asked as he set down PJ, and swatted Harry’s hand away from the tie. “You’ve got it all crooked, hang on. And is the mission to...you know?”
“Eggsy!”
“Just checking! Even if it isn’t, I mean, I can spend the night here with PJ. I’m already the ‘Prince That’s Never Seen’ to the Swedish media. Won’t be any issue if I’m not home for a day or two, and I let Tilde know it might be a few days, depending on what was going on. So, you know. If things happen...let them happen. Have some fun. Safe fun, I mean, actually, do you have-”
Harry was bright red as he snatched up the matching pocket square and his coat from his bed, and strode out of the bedroom with Eggsy and PJ on his heels.
“Oh, look at him blush! PJ, your dad is gonna have a wonderful night, isn’t he?”
PJ barked in response, wiggling as Eggsy picked him up again.
“Yes, he is, and then he’s going to tell us all about it when he gets back,” Eggsy continued, even as Harry spluttered half-protests, sighing and shaking his head as he walked out the front door.
Without any shoes on.
“Give him a minute,” Eggsy told PJ, who stared up curiously at him. “He’ll realize in one, two, three, and-”
“Oh for fuck’s sake,” Harry spat as he stomped back inside, struggling on with his shoes before heading back out, one oxford still untied.
“That’s a lad,” Eggsy smiled. “C’mon PJ. I think you deserve your dinner, and I will order mine, and then I think a movie is in order. We’ll find something with a dog in it, just for you.”
It wasn’t long before they were settled on the couch; PJ fed and a pizza box open on the coffee table, and the closest thing Eggsy could find for ‘something with dogs’ (an episode of Planet Earth) on the TV for PJ.
Then his phone buzzed with a text alert.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Advice?
Eggsy frowned at the text from Harry. Text were strictly for non-Kingsman, and non-confidential and/or coded Kingsman business. This, however, wasn’t code for anything that he knew of.
Is one of the things the guy you’re seeing? And if so, what is the other thing?
He could hear Harry’s frustration in the reply.
No! Not exactly. He invited me over, but he knows we’d both be in trouble if anyone knew about this; no one is even supposed to know he’s alive!!
That many exclamation points signaled a show of proper emotion from Harry, whatever this was, it was deeply serious to him. But it was hard to advise when he only had not even a quarter of the story. He sent back his biggest question.
Who?????!!!!!!
For about five minutes, there was nothing, and he almost set his phone back down on the coffee table. Then:
Merlin.
“Fucking hell,” Eggsy murmured. “And how in the hell? There’s no way...somebody has to be fucking with him, which means who knows what he’s gotten himself into now.”
He sighed, and bemoaned that he had left his luggage at his hotel, rather than bringing it with. There wouldn’t be enough time to get it, change into a suit, and try and configure Harry’s location so he could get there.
Unless.
He hadn’t ever actually spent a night in Harry’s guest room, but Harry had always assured him it was supplied for him, should he and Tilde ever need a place to stay. Searching it proved just that: three suits with varying colors of ties and other accouterments for him, and three matching dresses and pants suits for Tilde, plus three tiny matching jackets that would have fit JB.
“PJ, you hold down the fort, yeah? You’re a big boy now, I think I can trust you,” Eggsy said as he finished putting in his cuff links and pulled on his jacket, watching as PJ settled down on the couch with a sigh, his grey wiry fir blending into the dark material. “I’m gonna go make sure your dad makes it home, and when we get back, we’ll have that leftover pizza. I’ll make sure he lets you have a little, promise.”
From there, he was on his own. His watch and glasses let him track Harry somewhat, but wherever he was, he was on the move. With whoever this impostor Merlin was, surely, and that was who he really wanted to track. But even if this Merlin was using any Kingsman or Statesman tech, he wasn’t registering on any of Eggsy’s gear.
He got as close as an Italian restaurant, dropped off by a non-Kingsman cab, if only so as not to arouse Harry or the faux-Merlin’s suspicions if they were near enough to see it. There, outside of it, the dot representing Harry had stopped. Or so it seemed to have, finally, though at no point had the dot gone into the restaurant, leaving him wondering where on earth the actual dinner had been, and why on earth Harry was stumbling around in the dark with the faux-Merlin.
There were a few dark alleyways just near the restaurant. A small chance to be sure, too easy if anything. But as he wandered down the first, the blip of Harry’s dot on the map superimposed over his glasses got louder and louder and-
“Jesus,” Eggsy ducked behind a bin, then peeked back out over it.
Up against a nearby wall in the alley were Harry, and what for all the world looked like Merlin, kissing hard and utterly unaware of anything else going on around them, apparently, since he hadn’t exactly been quiet as he’d ducked away.
“If I’m wrong,” Eggsy whispered to himself, then shook his head. Even if this was somehow real, Merlin had somehow survived the land mine and was safe and back, it was better to check, to interrupt and know for sure.
“Let him go,” he stood and pulled his pistol, pointing it at the possibly faux Merlin.
“I think he’d rather I didn’t,” and god it sounded like Merlin. “Harry, did you not tell him?”
“I was going to, later,” Harry hissed, and whipped around. “Put that down! What on earth are you doing?”
“Not many men could survive a land mine. Fewer still could survive it, and be repaired well enough to go into hiding afterwards. So if you really are Merlin, and if you are...know that I am sorry for all this, but I’ve got to have answers. As of right now, I have no proof you aren’t some...double, hell bent on doing God knows what with Harry-”
“Hell bent on doing something with him, that’s for sure,” Merlin murmured and giggled, pressing a kiss to Harry’s cheek. “If you’re still up for it, after we explain things and send Eggsy on home.”
Harry sighed and pushed himself away from Merlin. “Look. I-I should have just told you everything straight away. I know you, and you’re a good agent. And a good agent would have done just as you’re doing now. It’s just...I mean, this was a date!”
“Still is,” Merlin called from the wall. “This isn’t quite how I saw it going, no, and I certainly didn’t think Eggsy would be involved, but this doesn’t ruin the night or anything.”
“Oh my God,” Harry muttered, and pushed his glasses up as he rubbed the bridge of his nose.
Eggsy lowered his gun. “Well?”
“Tell you what,” Merlin said, striding forward. “You both come back to mine, for now. We can explain things, then Eggsy, you can go back home feeling that all is well-”
“To Harry’s, actually. I was dog sitting,” Eggsy interrupted before stowing his gun away.
“Right,  back to Pickles, JR, then, knowing that all is well and Harry is safe,” Merlin continued. “And Harry, if you’d like, well...”
“I could just about die right now. And I’ve never said that about anything,” Harry sighed.
“Dramatic, outside of work, isn’t he?” Merlin snickered as he led them out of the alley and down the sidewalk. “Part of why I asked him out, you know. Nice to get to see the man under the agent again. Don’t get me wrong, I love the agent, but I liked the man first.”
“Makes sense,” Eggsy replied, giggling as Harry blushed ever more red, trailing just behind them. “So, did you two ever...before this, I mean?”
“That’s a lot of old history to be getting into,” Merlin smiled. “Maybe a bit too much for tonight, but later on, perhaps-”
“Oh my God,” Harry muttered again.
“Think I should take the overuse of that phrase as a good sign for later?” Merlin asked with a positively wicked grin.
“MERLIN!”
Eggsy and Merlin fell against each other in a fit of laughter as Harry sighed deeply yet again.
He calmed once they were in Merlin’s house though, his coat off and tossed onto the couch as if he lived there, and Eggsy half-wondered as they settled onto it.
“So. I’ll make a long story short, so you can get back to PJ, and we can get back to...other things,” Merlin said. “I did survive the mine, but barely. And I very nearly didn’t survive the jungle, because my tracker didn’t click on again to let Ginger Ale know I was still kicking until you all had already left.”
“How the hell did you survive?”
Merlin shrugged. “I shouldn’t have, Eggsy. Chalk that one up to dumb luck, perhaps. That, and Ginger Ale, or should I say now, Agent Whiskey’s fantastic medical research and work with prosthetics.”
Eggsy gestured to Merlin’s legs. “I have to admit, I was curious.”
“Amazingly built prosthetics, all thanks to Agent Whiskey. She assembled a team to get me out, get me to Kentucky, and get me healed and well again. And she would have told you and Harry both right away, but-”
“It wasn’t assured he would survive,” Harry interrupted. “And so I asked them not to say anything to you at that time. I didn’t want you to lose him twice. I figured it, rather selfishly, I admit, that it would be enough for me to lose him twice.”
“But you didn’t,” Merlin said softly, grabbing Harry’s hand. “I’m right here, not going anywhere.”
Harry only nodded, but Eggsy could see his fingers tighten around Merlin’s.
“With you still not knowing I was alive, and my continued survival not assured at that point, I was put into a sort of hiding. Kept in Kentucky, under Statesman medical care and guard. I remain under their guard now, to some degree, and not Kingsman guard because, well-” Merlin shrugged. “Kingsman is still rebuilding. We have Agent Tequila here, and Harry, and yourself as a reserve agent, but that isn’t much. And there’s concern that some of the guards I tried to take out with me are still out there, and might be looking for me.”
“Didn’t they find them all? Or all the pieces of them, I guess,” Eggsy asked.
“Enough...pieces to make up all the bodies except for two. We might have presumed they were just truly blown to smithereens, until certain messages started to arrive at various locations, specifically the rubble of the Kingsman HQ and your old home, Eggsy. Agent Whiskey was the one who suggested surveillance on those locations and a few others after I was recovered from the field, and thank goodness she did. We might never have seen them until it was too late, otherwise.”
“Too late?”
“Attacks,” Harry said. “On Statesman HQ, specifically trying to get to the medical ward. One got damned close too. No identifiable information on them, except that everything done to erase their identity was similar to what Poppy had done to her cronies. Erased fingerprints, filed down teeth, all that. But since we know Poppy is dead, that tells us nothing. And the henchman that we thought died when the land mine went off weren’t identifiable either, not even the pieces of the dead ones. So figuring out who the live ones are, if they are alive, and where they are...”
“Damn near impossible, until another attack, which hasn’t happened because you’ve been kept under guard here. And that’s why no one was supposed to know you’re alive,” Eggsy finished.
“And why this,” Harry sighed, picking up Merlin’s hand and kissing it, “is so very risky. If anything happened as a result of me, I swear-”
“I know, and I’m willing to take the risk,” Merlin interrupted. “Anyone would for someone they love. Eggsy would for Tilde, essentially does being married while being an agent, right Eggsy?”
Eggsy nodded. “Harry. You shouldn’t deny yourself this, happiness, just because of the risk. There’s always going to be something, you know? Life just isn’t that easy, that safe...especially for us. Tilde and I, we know the risk, and we both accept it to be together. If you and Merlin feel the same...why not go for it?”
The look Harry was giving Merlin gave Eggsy his out. “And, that said, I think maybe my portion of the evening is complete, and the portion with you two is uh...yeah. I’m gonna head out, go back and let PJ have the bit of pizza I promised him, and then turn in for the night, and you two aren’t even paying attention to a word I’m saying right now.”
They certainly didn’t seem to be, again concerned only with each other and kissing and the fussing about with Harry’s tie, which was plenty for Eggsy to see.
“I mean good for ‘em, you know?” he told PJ as they snuggled on the couch, his suit hung back up in the guest room of Harry’s house, the pizza warmed up for a late night/early morning snack. “But...bit like watching your parents snog, you know? Like, they’re adults, consenting and all that and isn’t like that...urge disappears as you age, I just. It was time for me to not see anymore. You get it, right, PJ?”
PJ whimpered, and snuggled in closer. He was laid out on Eggsy’s chest, and very nearly had his cold nose poking Eggsy’s chin as he moved closer and closer.
“Aw. You just miss your dad, don’t you? Well, never fear, he’ll be home in the morning. Er, later morning, considering the time. Dads have to have their fun too, and in the meantime you’ve got me!”
Eggsy flicked off the TV and closed his eyes, listening to PJ’s soft breathing as he finally fell asleep.
And then his watch buzzed on his wrist.
He carefully moved his arm, to not disturb PJ, and looked at the alert.
ALL KINGSMAN AND STATESMAN AGENTS, REPORT TO NEAREST HQ LOCATION IMMEDIATELY. AGENT COMPROMISATION HAS OCCURRED.

An Alternate Journey (Pokeshipping; part three)
Authors - @warlordess and @miyatoriaka
Notes – Here be chapter two/part three of my joint project with Miya. I decided to post this one a bit early due to Valentine’s Day. It’s also Leaf’s introduction, which was a little harder for me to write because I don’t know much of anything about Leaf as a character. I mean, in the games, she’s the avatar of the player’s whim (should they choose a female character) and I’ve barely read the Adventures manga, nor have I seen Origins (and I have no clue if she’s even in it). So I threw a bit of info together from the game and gave her a bit of Gary’s mean streak from early canon… but also tried to write her as a bit more complicated than your average rival/bully, which eventually shows through between this chapter and the next.
Anyway, read on and please review/comment/reblog! Unless you’re one of those derpy anonymous trolls. If you’re one of those then you can go choke.
You can find the prologue here.
You can find chapter one here.

 Title - “An Alternate Journey”
Summary - Eleven year old novice trainer Misty starts her Pokemon adventure, best friends Gary and Ash by her side. But will she withstand every test her travels throw at her and become the greatest master trainer of all time? Fic co-crafted with famous fan-artist, Miyatoriaka!
Ages - Misty and Leaf are eleven years old, Ash and Gary are thirteen, and the adults are adult-aged so who cares about ‘em? Lol.
 Chapter Two - Rival
 OoOoO
The cotton candy sunrise came and went while the three trainers snoozed, making up for their disrupted sleep from the night before. The sun had fully risen by the time they did wake, all of them eating a light breakfast of bread, jam, and fresh fruit before Misty released Gastly so he could direct them towards their next destination: Pewter City.
“Wow, we got here much quicker than I thought we would considering how many days we were stuck in Viridian Forest,” Gary noted, his hand saluted against his brow as he took in the sights. He hadn’t visited this staple city recently since his gym and familial locations were settled in the more southern areas of Kanto.
“It’s all thanks to Gastly!” Misty responded proudly, “Because of him, Eevee and I will face off against the gym leader here right after a quick trip to the PokeCenter!”
“Ah, well, maybe you should pace yourself,” Ash warned her cryptically.
 “Wha’d’ya mean?”
“It’s just… You’ve been a trainer for all of - what? - two weeks, almost half the time of which was spent stuck in one place, and now you wanna march straight up to the nearest gym to demand a battle? Much better prepared trainers than you have set themselves up for major loss because of that kinda recklessness.”
“Okaaay… so do you two know anything about the gym? You both are part of the league yourselves, right? There must be something you can tell me.”
“Hm, well, like much of the architecture here alludes, the gym utilizes rock-type Pokemon. Unfortunately, there was an upset a few years ago so the trainer in charge has alternated a couple times. Even the representative at league events has varied. Because of that, I dunno what their skill level is or what specific Pokemon they’re likely to use. I can say,” Gary paused to release a huff as the group of three humans and one ground-traversing Pokemon carefully ambled over some particularly uneven terrain leading from the plateau that divided Viridian Forest and Pewter City, “that, due to this gym being the first stop for most new trainers, the league challenge presented is kept at a moderate level.”

“Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect a good fight though,” Ash began next, almost losing his footing and having to take a moment to regain his step. “The challenge level might be maintained for new trainers but there’s basically no Pokemon you can catch around here that has an advantage against rock-types. You either have to force the advantage yourself by picking a starter that can measure up or you have to get really lucky.”
“Well, let’s just get to the PokeCenter first,” Misty mumbled, her formerly impressive ego vastly reduced by the information that had been offered.
“Yeah, and maybe we’ll walk around town while you come up with a strategy. We’ll still need to stock up on potions and food and stuff. There might be some interesting sights to see too.”
The group finally made it into town, catching sight of the PokeCenter’s great red roof even from their distance and making a Beedrill line for it. Misty withdrew Gastly back to his Pokeball with a word of gratitude, picked Eevee up into her arms, and approached the front desk where a young woman with a pink uniform and even brighter pink hair was waiting with a cheery grin to greet them.
“Welcome to our PokeCenter, here to heal your Pokemon’s every woe! I’m Nurse Joy and I’ll be registering your Pokemon in our database so they can be admitted for healing or check-ups.”
“Hey, wait, didn’t we meet her in…?”
“Oh, yeah, you don’t know, Misty, but every Center is run by a relative of the samy family. The same holds true for the police force,” Ash informed her.
“Relatives…?” the redhead replied with a brow quirked in suspicion. “You sure they aren’t clones?”
She had said such a thing offhandedly, meaning it as a joke, but when she next returned her gaze to the aforementioned woman, that originally sweet smile was suddenly looking a little strained.
“My aunts, nieces, sisters, and cousins are all just as human as I am, just as we all share the same passion for caring about Pokemon.”
Next moment, any residual malice had vanished - though Misty retained her apologetic expression for a few seconds longer - and Nurse Joy held out a tray with six empty Pokeball slots on it.
“Please deposit your Pokemon for me here and my assistant Chansey will escort them to their room after admission. Will your friends be leaving theirs as well?”
“Yeah, might as well,” Gary relented, and he and Ash both began to remove the round miniature devices from their belts while Joy placed two more trays on the counter and scanned Misty’s with an electronic reader, then typed a few things into her computer.
Before she could follow suit with Ash and Gary’s Pokemon, Misty took the opportunity to place Eevee on the counter as well.
“Um, she’s one of mine too. Do I…? I’m hoping I won’t have to force her into her Pokeball. I didn’t before.”
“Oh, my, a trainer who travels with their Pokemon outside of a Pokeball? And this Eevee doesn’t seem to be an infant either. But it’s absolutely no problem! We have plenty of patients who are more like companions and visit just like this.”
Nurse Joy accepted the fox-like Pokemon into her arms, giving her a comforting pat along her back, then turned and placed her on a timely delivered stretcher that Chansey had rolled up. She finished scanning and entering Ash and Gary’s Pokemon IDs into the computer, added their trays to the stretcher as well, and Chansey rolled everyone to the back area of the Center.
Afterwards, the three trainers reserved a room and left to take in the sights around town, including the PokeMart and a couple of specialty stores. When they’d finished with lunch, they headed back to the PokeCenter to retrieve their Pokemon, Gary taking the opportunity to check their funds and make a budget for their supply costs.
“So TMs are…?” Misty was asking him in the meantime as the whole lot of them waited for Chansey to grab their Pokeballs.
“Well, they’re short for ‘technical machine’ but, as for what they do, they’re used to teach Pokemon moves they wouldn’t ordinarily learn through training and natural growth. There are some real powerful ones available.”
“Thanks,” Ash said in reference to the nearly always smiling Nurse Joy handing over their Pokemon. “Are we heading back out?” he asked this time to his friends.
“Ah, about that… I was wondering if it’s possible to go visit Pewter Gym?” Misty began, picking Eevee up into her arms with a kiss to her forehead before allowing the Pokemon to climb over her shoulder. “You know, like I used to do back in Cerulean City with you, Ash. I figure this is the only way I can prepare myself more for my own gym battle. Unless you wanna let me battle you. You never replied to me when I asked yesterday.”
“Well, it’s true that most gyms have open hours for spectators to come watch but we’ll have to go check and see what hours those are…” Gary replied to her, nudging Ash into prolonged silence before he could come up with a retort.
In fact, the raven-haired trainer was going to respond anyway to Misty’s commentary about him supposedly never answering to her challenge the night before but he was interrupted by yet another person as soon as they’d made it out the sliding double doors of the PokeCenter.
“Oho! My goodness, if it isn’t the late bloomer of Cerulean City!”
Misty’s expression immediately darkened as she stopped in her tracks, already apparently knowing who the voice belonged to without turning to see for herself.
 “Oh, no.”
“I’m sorry, what was that?” asked the girl with long brown hair, a black high collar sleeveless dress, and white trainer gloves, leaning in close and smirking, prodding Misty in the cheek.
Ash had to blink in wonder, curious as to how she’d moved in so quickly (and who she was for that matter).
“I said, hi, Leaf, how’ve you been since you left Pallet Town?” the redhead rephrased, stiff plastic smile on her face as she made a half-hearted attempt to swat the other girl’s hand away.
“Oh, well, thanks so much for asking! Everything’s been going so perfectly! I’ve gotten six badges, I’ve made so much money and fame that it’s almost unnecessary for me to even compete in the league and become the Pokemon Master! But of course I still will,” the snarky preteen added in afterthought, “And lastly, of course, is that I’ve caught the perfect little team of Pokemon! They’re all so cute!
“But silly me! You shouldn’t let me talk about myself all day! So what about you, Misty dear? Still a late bloomer as always, I see! It looks like you’ve barely started out! So… when did you finally leave home, hmm? And when were you planning on introducing me to your handsome companions?”
It had felt like every sharp word spilled from this girl’s lips in a single cunning breath. Her passive-aggressive jabs and flaunting self-promotion were enough to make Misty’s blood boil. But then again, Leaf had always had a way of crawling under her skin, ever since they were youngsters in school together.
“Uh, anyway, Ash and Gary, this is Leaf. She’s my…” What? The only term Misty could think of to describe her was ‘bane of my existence’ but the redhead couldn’t help thinking she needed to say something more subtle. “... I’ve known her most of my life. Leaf, this is Ash,” she paused to point him out, “and this is Gary. They’re traveling with me.”
“Oh, that’s so sweet! You have yourself a couple of babysit - I mean, training coaches!” The slip-up did not go unnoticed. “You’re just so lucky! Most of us have to accept the burden of traveling independently, taking full responsibility for our own goals and struggles, but having others take up your slack sometimes works too, I suppose. In fact, it even suits someone like you!
“Anyway, boys, the pleasure is all yours, I’m sure. I hope you both are taking good care of Cerulean City’s late bloomer.”
Misty couldn’t help the slight twitch of her tightly hunched shoulders every time she was called that. And her subdued fury only doubled when she saw Ash mouth the words over to himself as he and Leaf shook hands, clearly confused but knowing better than to ask at the moment.
Leaf shook hands with an oddly tongue-tied Gary too and then swung back towards her old friend with a sly grin, taking in the sight of Eevee for the first time and bending down to greet her.
“Why, hello there, cutie! I didn’t notice you before! I apologize for that! How could I miss such a sweet baby?” the brunette cooed genuinely with sparkling eyes, reaching out to stroke Eevee’s fluffy mane and seeming the slightest bit perturbed when the Pokemon didn’t respond to her earnest enthusiasm in kind. Rather, the normal-type Pokemon curled herself around her trainer’s ankles as if trying to disappear from view.
“So where did you catch her? Eevee are really rare in the wild, you know. You usually have to breed one. I should know; I’ve been looking for one for myself for months now.”
“Actually Eevee and I are partners because of Gary. He’s Professor Oak’s grandson. He was able to talk the professor into letting me breed an Eevee from an egg two of theirs managed to make. See, Eevee wasn’t caught. She’s my first Pokemon. That’s why I had to wait so much longer than everyone else to start my journey.”
Because she and I were especially meant to be together! So there! she couldn’t help but add internally at the ever-so-slightly faltering smile on the other girl’s face. It sure felt good to come out on top!
Indeed, her rival seemed quite put out by the reveal of such details but shook off her envy within seconds and reached her full height once more.
“Well, Misty dear, that just gave me a marvelous idea! Why don’t we have a battle now that you’re finally a Pokemon trainer too? Just a little one-on-one practice. I know how hard it can be for you when you’re just starting out! You could probably use the experience and money. How about we battle starter against starter? Since I’m sure you don’t have much of a team yet. And it seems like fate had us meet each other here today.”
“Actually, Misty has caught herself six Pokemon already!” Ash blurted out from the background, retreating and regrouping when his redheaded friend glared at him. “Though Eevee is definitely your strongest option at this point,” he clarified finally.
“You know what, Leaf?! You’re on! Let’s do this, right now!”
“Well, that’s great then, isn’t it? We even have an audience for our first ever official battle! Now, c’mon, there’s a practice field over there we can use…” And then, at the sight of Misty looking quite suddenly embarrassed, “... Or did you forget we’re standing right in front of the PokeCenter in the middle of a busy street?”
“I, uh, I - of course not! Let’s go, Eevee!” the redhead huffed aloud, turning up her nose and stomping in the direction of their aforementioned battleground, the rest of their group following after them.
“This is a one-on-one battle between Misty and Leaf, starter Pokemon only, no items allowed during the match. If these terms are agreeable to both trainers,” Gary paused here during his impromptu referee speech so that any complaints could be voiced if they existed before continuing, “then you may call out your Pokemon and begin!”
 “I call Eevee!”
“Woo! Go, Misty!” Ash shouted from his place on the sidelines, pumping a fist into the air.
The redhead offered him a grateful smile for his camaraderie before turning a determined and scrutinizing gaze on her opponent, waiting to see what challenge she and Eevee would have to face.
Leaf had almost an entire year up on her experience-wise, and it wasn’t until this moment that the novice Pokemon trainer realized how remiss it was of her to not have paid attention to what Pokemon the other girl had chosen for the start of her own journey that fateful day all that time ago. And no matter which starter she’d picked, it had probably evolved by now, perhaps even more than once.
“Come on out, Squirtle!” the female trainer shouted, elegantly tossing a Pokeball forward, where it snapped open and unveiled an all-too-familiar beam of scarlet light which morphed into the outline of a small turtle-like Pokemon Misty had learned much about back when she wasn’t sure which Pokemon she should choose as her first.
Still, back to the present, she wasn’t quite sure if she was more relieved or disappointed by the sight of this particular opponent.
“I hope you don’t mind us making the first move while you’re busy thinking? Squirtle, tackle!”
The water-type Pokemon gave a firm nod before running bipedal in Eevee’s direction.
“Ah!” Misty gasped, collecting herself and responding by instinct, “Eevee, dodge it and use your sand attack!”
The fox-like Pokemon leapt out of the way and then u-turned as Squirtle careened past, digging his stubby feet into the ground to try and keep himself from going too far beyond his original goal. Unfortunately he wasn’t quick enough to avoid his adversary’s follow-up attack and was punished by an onslaught of dirt in his eyes, momentarily blinding him.
“Use your water gun to wash your eyes out!” Leaf commanded.
“I hope you don’t mind us continuing to battle while Squirtle is busy with that,” Misty commented smartly, barely able to conceal her condescending and prideful tone as she mimicked her rival’s statement from barely more than a minute ago.
Leaf’s facial features tightened into a restrained grimace, clearly catching on but choosing to refrain from commentary and instead redoubling her efforts in the rest of their battle.
 “Eevee, tackle!”
 “Counter with withdraw!”
Squirtle paused in the middle of washing out his eyes, curling all appendages within his shell just in time for Eevee to smash into him. The normal-type squealed in pain and recoiled but shook it off rather quickly otherwise.
“Try your tail whip and then use quick attack, Eevee!”
 “Use rapid spin!”
The fox Pokemon wagged her tail in Squirtle’s direction just as he’d unfurled from his withdrawal but, while quick attack was an accelerated move, rapid spin was much faster. By the time Eevee had jumped from all fours to launch her weight at him, Squirtle was already curled up and swerving out of the way. But the relentless speed didn’t stop there as the water-type glided circles around his opponent before lunging at her, smacking her to the ground and flying a solid ten or so feet away before popping out of his shell again and landing gracefully on his hind legs.
“Ah! Eevee, you can get up, right? We can still…” No sooner had Misty spoken these words than her Pokemon stumbled to her paws, looking the worse for wear in every regard but not wanting to let her trainer down. “Yeah, we can still do this! We can still win if we just keep attacking! Use your bite!”
 “Iron defense!”
Squirtle withdrew into his shell once more, with the added effect of it shimmering a glossy white, just in time for Eevee to clamp down with her fangs, which proved to be quite the mistake. She whimpered as she pulled back, mouth clearly sore after such a folly.
 “Water pulse!”
 “Dodge--”
But there was no time. A jet stream of high-powered water shot towards Eevee, making contact less than three seconds after the order was given. The already wounded Pokemon was thrust that much further towards the side of the field, hitting the ground hard and rolling limply a few times before coming to a stop, struggling to get back up even after such a beating.
But Leaf wasn’t finished quite yet, and she no longer seemed interested in playing her games either.
“Now finish it with your skull bash!”
 “Wait, what?”
Misty’s head drew a blank at the confident utterance that was Leaf’s command. Skull bash was Squirtle’s signature move, one of the most powerful techniques he could learn. Compared to that, there was nothing in hers and Eevee’s arsenal that could compare. If this next attack made contact…
“Eevee, lower Squirtle’s strength with your growl! Or at least get out of there if you can!”
It was no use, everything was over so very soon. Squirtle had started dashing at her precious Pokemon but that trot had turned into a mad sprint, during which the water-type was moving so quickly that his feet, then his stubbly legs, and then his body as a whole were powerful white blurs of agility and power.
Eevee successfully growled but it seemed to have no effect on the incoming threat so she attempted to follow through with Misty’s secondary command... However there wasn’t enough time.
Squirtle’s hardened skull smashed into Eevee and sent the normal-type flying through the air before she hit the ground and wrenched round a few times in the dirt, coming to a stop in the left-hand corner of the field on her trainer’s side.
Speechless and distraught, the redhead couldn’t wait for Gary’s official call to the end of the battle and began cautiously stumbling towards her unconscious Pokemon, but her half-hearted gait gained traction with every step until she was full-on running, her breath stolen from her throat, eyes both somehow watering and burning dry at the same time, her skin cold and heart hammering with fear.
Pokemon fainted and lost battles every single day, she knew that, but… not her Pokemon. Not her Eevee. Never before this moment.
“Misty--,” Ash began, on his feet in an instant and ready to support her in her time of need but he was interrupted by the somewhat restrained sound of Gary’s voice.
“Eevee is unable to battle, which makes the winners of the match Squirtle and Leaf!”
“Great job, Squirtle, come here!” Leaf called out, her Pokemon responding obediently with enthusiasm and waddling towards her. She fondly patted him on the head, kneeling down and granting him a soft kiss on the cheek before calling him back to his Pokeball and regaining her full height once more.
“Do you see now, Misty dear? Pokemon come in all sizes, types, and strengths. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter that your Eevee was bred especially for you or that your friends gave up their time to help you on your journey. What matters to you most - or what should matter - is the bond you share with your Pokemon and the time you’ve put in together.
“Squirtle and I have been together for almost a full year. We’ve won six badges together, earned a living and survived and thrived together. We’ve built a team together too.
“Nothing can replace or replicate the bond I have with my Pokemon or the time we’ve spent working towards our goals. Even a novice like you who just started out will have to work at it if your dream is to truly become the greatest Pokemon Master ever.”
“Hey, Misty, you okay…?” Ash asked, kneeling down beside her as she sat in the grass, cradling her unconscious Pokemon in her arms. “You know, once we get Eevee back to the PokeCenter for awhile, she’ll be good as new in no time!”
Gary walked up to them both as Misty, still dispirited, managed a nod.
“But, then again, I’ll have already finished collecting badges and challenging the league long before you, which means that I’ll naturally become a Master class trainer first. And it seems pretty clear to me from the battle we just had that you’ll never be a match against me anyway, will you, Misty dear?” Leaf goaded more shallowly now, drawing a hand through her long brown hair and hmphing with a mild smirk adorning her face. “After all, once a late bloomer, always a late bloomer, am I ri--”
“--Hey!” Ash shouted, on his feet in an instant and staring her down from a considerable distance, quite fed up with her condescending attitude. “What makes you think you can talk to my friend like this?! Just ‘cause you’re a stronger trainer and just ‘cause--”
Gary laid a hand on his shoulder, averting his gaze slightly under Ash’s increased ire, though the raven-haired trainer was also effectively silenced by his friend’s maneuver.
 “I don’t think that’s it.”
 “Wha’d’ya mean?”
“I think… I’m just saying…” And Gary dropped his tone to such a lower murmur that Ash had to strain to hear what he was saying, meaning Misty probably couldn’t hear it at all (which was probably the point), “... that she needs to learn this lesson too.”
“Yeah, well, that doesn’t mean that she,” Ash paused long enough to jack his thumb in Leaf’s direction, “should be the one to teach it! But it’s fine! If she wants to talk about bonds made and time spent with Pokemon then I’ll gladly match her! After all, Bulbasaur and I have been together for years! And Weepinbell too! And--”
“--No, Ash!” a strained voice rang out from the ground, and the two young men faltered amid their discussion as Misty vigilantly rose to her feet, still holding Eevee just as closely and tenderly as ever. “I don’t need you to fight my battles for me. I don’t… I don’t really get what you guys were saying but I just wanna say one thing! Eevee and I are a great team! Whatever we may be missing now we’re gonna find and master! Do you hear me, Leaf? The next time you and I battle, we’re gonna be the ones who best you!”
Leaf threw her hands up in a casual shrug, her lips curling upward so faintly that none of the others could even see it.
“Whatever you say… little miss late bloomer,” she replied aloofly, turning on her heel and marching proudly away. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a date with an ancient Pokemon exhibit.”
“What was her problem?” Ash begged aloud as soon as she was gone. “Misty, are you okay? You shouldn’t listen to Leaf just ‘cause she beat you in a battle, okay? You and Eevee are plenty close and plenty strong, right, Gary?”
There was an edgy pressure to his tone that not so subtly demanded Gary had better agree but the Viridian gym trainer was still staring after Leaf with awkwardly flushed cheeks and sharp eyes.
 “Yeah… Ash is right, I guess…”
“You guess?!” the raven-haired trainer yelped, though his expression darkened as he looked his old friend over with pursed lips and furrowed brows, apparently catching on to something he’d missed earlier on. “Are you just saying that ‘cause you’re--”
“--I’m just saying that because, even though Leaf came on strong,” the burgundy-haired trainer countered, pointedly interrupting what he had a feeling was going to be a very embarrassing and very accurate accusation, “she made a good point… and a strong impression,” he added.
“C’mon, Ash, like I said before, Misty was going to have to face this moment sooner or later. You gotta remember that we’re here to help her when it’s needed and give her advice here and there but… there are just some things it can’t be our responsibility to teach her.
“I mean, isn’t that why you blew off her requests for a Pokemon battle? Because you were worried you’d accidentally end up playing the role Leaf did?”
“... You’re too smart for your own good, ya know that?” Ash begrudgingly admitted, blushing.
“Guys…” Misty’s voice rang out from behind them, and both boys jumped nearly a foot in the air, having basically forgotten during their heated discussion that she was present to hear their every word. “Guys, it’s okay. And thank you. I… don’t really know what happened or like how it happened but I’ll get stronger from this and we’ll win the next battle against Leaf, just like I told her.”
Perhaps Ash was imagining it but he couldn’t help thinking that the expression on the redhead’s face was more affectionate than it should have been as she stared wistfully in the direction Leaf had vanished in, considering what had transpired between them during their match. Huh. Maybe there was more to the girls’ relationship than he could comprehend at present.
“Anyway, can we get Eevee back to the PokeCenter now?”
“Sounds like a good idea to me,” Gary responded with a rare warm grin, perhaps feeling that one of his sarcastic or blunt quips would be better saved for another time.
A couple of hours later, after Eevee had received both a good nap and some decent first aid from the talented and dedicated Nurse Joy and her assistant Chansey, the group of three trainers left to pay a visit to the Pewter City Gym and see about its open hours, which they’d unfortunately missed for the day, so they went out to grab dinner instead.
Misty, who’d been sitting on the question since that afternoon, finally got around to asking Ash and Gary about the odd event that Leaf had mentioned in passing earlier.
“Ancient Pokemon exhibit, hmm…?” Ash replied first, staring into the distance as if deep in thought for a few seconds before deadpanning, “I’ve got no clue. Oh well!”
“I think she was talking about Pewter’s Museum of Science and Natural History. They have a department dedicated to the excavation and research of ancient Pokemon species. Rumor is they’ve even been involved in potential resurrection or cloning with the use of DNA,” Gary rattled off informatively.
“Wow… I don’t really understand it but that sounds pretty amazing! Can we go check it out?”
Misty smiled down at her perfectly healed Eevee, suppressing the guilt that bubbled up in the back of her mind at the sight of the Pokemon. It still stung some to think back to their battle earlier with Leaf, still bothered the redhead some to remember the harsh lesson she’d learned. The first thing she’d done for her Pokemon after Eevee had woken up was apologize profusely for letting her down, but of course Eevee had just licked her hand and nudged affectionately against her fact, not quite understanding but wanting to make her trainer feel better.
Misty and friends made their way up the few blocks to one of the bus stops on Main Street, which would take them the rest of the way northeast where the museum was apparently located.
After the ten minute commute, their group found themselves standing in front of a massive four story complex, facing a magnificent courtyard and stately architecture built out of the same slate gray stone that seemed to be the main source material used in most of Pewter City’s historical builds.
“C’mon guys!” Misty called out, perfectly carefree if the way she was skipping excitedly towards the main entrance was any indication.
Just as she’d opened one of the double doors, she and the others heard a distraught and irate shout from inside the building.
 “Wait! Thief! Stop them please!”
A tall figure in black sprinted through the door Misty was holding, so strong and reckless that they inadvertently collided into her and caused her to tumble to the ground.
“Hey, what’s the…” she began angrily in response to this transgression but faltered at the sinister expression and demeanor of the man before her as he glared icily before remembering he needed to be on his way.
As soon as he was gone, many things happened in succession. Ash was checking to make sure she was okay while Gary was staring suspiciously after the man in black, followed immediately by the front door bursting open again and a whole slew of people appearing all at once, including a few in blue security uniforms, a fair number of curious bystanders, and two people sporting white lab coats.
“Oh - oh no, are you alright, honey?” the first one, female with a rather meek and neurotic personality, simpered, giving Misty a once over, bouncing on the balls of her feet and pacing to and fro in clear distress. “Oh no, oh my, but there’s no time, we have to hurry! Oh, I can’t believe this happened! How could it - how will we ever find--”
“--Penelope, calm down please,” her coworker attempted to cajole her authoritatively, having just apparently finished a phone call because he was placing his cell in his pocket. “I just contacted the police and Sergeant Jenny will be here soon. There’s nothing else we can do for now without potentially risking our safety. You three,” he motioned towards the group of trainers, “I’m sorry to approach you like this but we’re in the middle of an emergency situation. We’ve just had a very valuable fossil stolen from one of our exhibits by someone wearing a black jumpsuit. Did you happen to notice anything we might be able to report to the police when they arrive?”
 “No, how could we when--?”
But Ash was cut off before he could say anymore.
“The guy looked middle-aged, had black hair but there were gray streaks on the sides, gray eyes. He looked at least six feet tall. He exited through the gate and took a left. It seemed like he was trying to u-turn around the museum campus and escape into the northern woods,” Gary recited and, after catching sight of Misty and Ash’s bemused expressions, he added, “I was watching him go just in case it might help.”
“Thanks, son, that was very smart of you. You three!” And the male scientist turned to face the security officers. “Go around back, fan out with your Pokemon and chase the thief down. Don’t do anything to risk damage to that fossil. If you can safely stall until Sergeant Jenny and her officers show up then do so, otherwise send someone back here so they can lead the police in the right direction when they arrive.”
The trio of security personnel nodded in affirmation of this instruction and ran off instantly afterwards. Misty finally got back to her feet and watched them go, feeling mysteriously equal parts excited and frustrated over how she’d let the criminal get away. Still, to think someone had been able to steal an artifact from a well-guarded museum in (mostly) broad daylight…
The thought had barely even crossed her mind when a more familiar figure, smaller in stature with long brown hair and wearing a black turtle-collared skater dress, dashed by them all in a blur of tricolor, out the gate and circling the campus in an instant, following the security guards.
“Wait, was that…?” Ash started tapering off towards the end of his perturbed comment.
“I think… it was…” Gary replied, his tone somewhat more admirable. “Wait, Misty!”
For the redheaded novice trainer had already taken off as fast as her legs would allow, Eevee ever loyal at her side. The two boys had no choice but to pursue their reckless friend, ignoring the shouts from the administrative scientist and his more panicked assistant.
“Grr… those kids better not cause any damage to this operation!”
“I just pray everyone will be alright. With Team Rocket behind this, we can’t… always be sure, can we…?” Penelope responded cryptically in a somber tone, immediately sobering her superior up, his expression softening into shame and concern.
 “Yes, you’re quite right.”
 OoOoO
Notes - And thus ends this chapter with a somewhat unintended cliffhanger. Miya wasn’t able to guess what went down in the next chapter so I wonder if anyone else will be able to? Lol. It’s not that special to be honest. Also coming in the next chapter is Misty’s first gym battle! And, oh… is Ash jealous…?
Next chapter will be posted around the end of March.
Likes, comments, reviews, whatever is available from the reader’s end is really invaluable to a writer’s interest in continuation!

Mr Van Dahl’s Remarkable Double Life - Part 7 Love You Forever
A Gobblepot fanfic. Jim and Oswald have been married for years, fooling all of Gotham. When Jim decided their marriage shall not remain a secret anymore, all hell breaks loose for the detective. Read it here on Ao3. E-rated chapter! Read at your own risk!
Even when having an existential crisis, there’s only so much you can do when being locked up in your own home’s basement. Jim is alternating between experiencing fits of rage and despair.
How dare Oswald hold him prisoner in their shared mansion? Well, it’s not even a shared place. It never was, Jim realizes. Does his husband ever even loved him or did he always regard him as his personal possession? The sheer audacity to tell the world he’s some kind of brain-washed pet. The cop can hardly breathe from anger.
Yet, it’s his very own fault. His track record when it comes to relationships is godawful. Each and every person he ever had an interest in turned out to be a psychopath at some point and Ozzie is decidedly the king of them. What was he expecting anyway when marrying a mob boss who won’t hesitate to stab his enemies right into their necks?
Despite all their shared years, Oswald, the Penguin, doesn’t value human life. Rather prefers regarding others as obstacles - with only a few exceptions.
Like him.
Jim once thought he might be able to change that. The bitter truth is, Oswald only contained his temper for Jim. Deep down, he’s still a stab-happy lunatic.
Well, that’s one side of the truth. He’s also loyal to a fault, he’s passionate, loves without abandon and all in all, is a force of nature, he reminds himself. Jim fell for the contradiction that is his husband and together they made Gotham a safer place.
Could he really leave all that behind? All those shared years in which they played mob bosses, fooled the GCPD and protected each other? God, how awful it felt to lie to his colleagues, especially Harvey. He pretended to be this self-righteous man while literally sleeping with the mob.
It hadn’t been easy to admit that he was in love with a gangster. But at some point it became inevitable. How many times did he allow Oswald to get away with crimes others would serve a life sentence in Blackgate for? He watched him take down Falcone, Maroni, and Mooney, watched him beating little tugs to a pulp without raising so much as a finger. And at one point, when truly realizing what the ingenious bastard was capable of, he actively started helping him while slamming his back into walls for the public.
Gotham prospered while Jim’s morals withered and faded to dust.
How on Earth did they even get away with their charade for so long? Didn’t their enemies wonder why Jim Gordon is still alive when others ended up with a bullet between their eyes only for calling the Penguin a freak? Wasn’t it obvious?
He told Oswald he’d be filing for divorce but that was in the spur of the moment. Imagining being at war with his husband churns his heart. Even thinking about it feels like getting his leg amputated without anesthesia. But he won’t allow him to get paraded around like a circus monkey. And he won’t continue playing this game of lies.
Reaching for his phone, Jim ponders giving his husband a call. He’s seriously worried their conflict else might be the cause of the premature death for some of his subordinates. The Penguin looked definitely shaken when leaving Jim behind in his prison.
Heatedly, Jim throws his phone away. Oswald wouldn’t dare to touch his employees if he really wants to stay married. He’s not going to give his man the satisfaction and cave in. No, instead he spends the next hours sulking in his room, waiting for his spouse to see reason.
Completely exhausted, he falls asleep.
When waking again, he notes two things right away. On the one hand, the entire room smells like cinnamon. On the other hand, he’s not alone anymore.
Oswald hovers over him, expression anxious. He’s holding a little tray loaded with fresh, warm waffles and whipped cream, looking the most erratic Jim has ever seen him. His eyes are red and puffy as if he’d been crying and his mascara is obviously smudged. He’s wearing that hideous make-up again that covers up his pale skin and never fails to make him look a bit like an orange.
The cop never understood why he uses it. His pale face in combination with those emerald eyes brought him to his knees after all. Oswald certainly has no concept of how beautiful he is. Shaking his head, he snaps out of it. It’s neither the place nor the time to appreciate his husband. Certainly not the place.
“Jim,” he exclaims when the detective gives him a discontented once-over. His lips spread into a wide smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
“I made you waffles,” he carries on ingenuously. “Your favorites,” he beams, almost knocking the tray against Jim’s jaw in his excitement.
“You think you can fix this mess with waffles?” Jim stares at him in bewilderment. If he doesn’t let him out the next minute he’ll get that whipped cream into his face and all over his beloved, decadent suit.
The smile drops from his face and if not for the tray Oswald would for sure either start biting his nails or fidgeting with his cane. “I, I thought it was a start?” he admits carefully averting Jim’s eyes.
“A start would be to release me,” the cop huffs while sitting up. Scooting a hand through his hair, he tries regaining some of his dignity - not an easy task when lying in bed, wearing a white shirt and shorts.
“I am sorry,” Oswald whines in response, finally setting the tray down. “I know what I did was wrong and I wanted to apologize and…”
“And so I’m free to leave, I hope?” Jim interrupts, glaring effectively at his spouse. The answer he receives is as frustrating as it is expected.
“Please wait.”
The detective rolls his eyes. “Then you can stuff your waffles where the sun never shines and get the hell back out,” he barks, pleased when the scrawny man looks genuinely shocked.
Swallowing hard, Oswald tries deciding what to do next. He doesn’t budge, probably painfully aware that Jim isn’t going to physically force him to leave. By now he definitely understands how uncomfortable his man is with violence.
His long, white fingers tremble slightly when he speaks again and his shoulders slump, bringing out the awkward shape of his spine more prominently. “I only ever wanted to protect you.” He searches Jim’s face after his confession. Hope the cop would understand written all over his features.
“Your protection got me killed,” Jim points out, tone cruel. Another spark of anger flares through Jim. Despite being constantly in pain, he doesn’t turn to one of Gotham’s various doctors to get his leg and back properly fixed but has absolutely zero qualms turning him into a zombie.
Well, not really into a zombie. Technically, he still feels human-ish enough but the point still stands. He just went and took a big part of what being human means from him without even asking. And what is it with his eternal youth? Was that really necessary? His husband probably merely fed his vanity with that one.
Yes, he knows he’d be dead otherwise but….his thoughts trail off. And now Oswald thinks some stupid waffles will fix that. It’s ludicrous. Jim doesn’t know what to do with himself.
It’s the exact moment Oswald’s determination cracks. Eyes filling with hot tears, the mobster sits down beside his husband. “Don’t you think I know that?” he whispers. “Don’t you think I know I made everything worse afterward? I panicked, okay?”
Wringing his hands, the King of Gotham becomes the pure picture of remorse. “You were dead, Jim. And I didn’t know what to do. I knew I could live in a world with you hating me but not in a world without you. And so I turned to Fries. Please, I’ll make everything to make it up to you!” he cries desperately.
Calmly, Jim picks up the bowl with the whipped cream. He truly had enough of his husband’s pathetic excuses. Sticking his finger inside the bowl, he tastes the cream. It’s good, refined with vanilla sugar just like he prefers it. Oswald meanwhile eyes him with rapt curiosity.
Good.
With one swift movement, he presses his face into the bowl, smearing the greasy cream all over his face, neck, and the collar of his shirt. The other man sputters indignantly when diving back up from the bottom of the bowl.
Jim bursts into laughter when observing his man gasping for air and trying to get the mass out of his eyes and hair. When flapping his hands around like that, he truly looks like a Penguin. A pretty enraged Penguin.
“Jim Gordon,” he accuses, smearing the whipped cream all over himself in his futile efforts to get rid of it. “I’m trying to have a serious conversation with you and..”
“You are not,” Jim interrupts more harshly than one would assume after his little joke. “You are trying to get your way. And as long as you are treating me like a prisoner, I’ll behave like an unruly prisoner.” Leaning casually back, he arches his eyebrow. “Or are you going to torture me next, hmm?” he urges.
“Of course not!” the mobster exclaims, appalled. “How dare you even think that?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” Jim drawls sarcastically. “Maybe cause you literally imprisoned me? Or cause you made me immortal without asking me first? Maybe because you didn’t stop there but gave me eternal youth as well so you can parade me around without being ashamed of me when I grow old. Or maybe because you decided to present me to the world as some brain-washed pet. How on earth do you want to make that up?!” he hollers, at last, dropping the indifferent facade.
Mouth hanging agape, the gangster stares silently at his cop for a long time. Breaking off a piece from the waffles, Jim dips it into the cream still covering his husband’s neck and starts munching. The King of Gotham squeaks unkingly and Jim chuckles mirthlessly anew.
The sad truth is, he might never find a greater love than Oswald. But everything considered, the divorce is inevitable. If there’s any pride left in Jim, he needs to walk away right now. His gangster might be sincere in his attempts to protect them both but that doesn’t give him the right to act the way he does.
Luckily for Oswald, there’s not too much pride left in Jim. The part of him that knows what’s wrong or what’s right died with Galavan and got stabbed for good measure in the months following that event. And despite telling himself what terrible fate Gotham might have awaited if he hadn’t done it, a part of him still misses the ambitious, goody-two-shoes boy he used to be.
“You are right,” the kingpin finally concedes with a heavy sigh. “I am selfish, Jim. But I would truly never hurt you. Not now, not in the future. Not if you stay, not if you leave.”
“You already hurt me. Multiple times,” Jim protests, dipping another piece of waffle nonchalantly into his husband’s neck. The ticklish mobster flinches but dutifully stays in place.
“Do you really want a divorce?” he demands to know at last, eyes big, pleading. A murderer shouldn’t have any right to look like an innocent puppy, Jim thinks as he moves behind him, wiping more cream from his pale throat. “Jim, I truly had no other choice. You were gone and Fries was at my disposal.”
Deep down, Jim knows his gangster is probably not lying. He wonders what he would have done if their roles had been reversed. Tries imagining Oswald cold and dead beneath his fingers. Would he have turned to Fries or Strange too? Or would he have accepted fate and moved on.
The delicate, deadly creature trembles as he caresses Jim’s jaw. “Your eternal youth wasn’t my wish, I swear. I just had no idea what to do. Please believe me, Jim,” he pleads, eyes big and so damn earnest it pains his heart. Those eyes once made him kill a man. They made him kill the man he used to be. It’s just consequent those eyes make him accept immortality.
Closing his eyes, Jim once again succumbs to the darkness of his Penguin. Leaning in closer, he tastes that damn cream again. This time without the waffle as a barrier but directly from his skin.
Oswald gasps in surprise.
“This time, we’ll have it my way,” Jim whispers into his ear. “You’ll be a nice, good hubby and release me. And then you’ll tell Gotham we played them all for years. And if they dare threatening us, we’ll remind them who exactly they are messing with.” His tone is too serious for Oswald to protest.
Fingers curling possessively into his man’s hips, Jim gently bites down on his ear. “We’ll let them know what the GCPD and your army are capable of,” he promises portentously, sending shivers down Oswald’s crooked spine.
“But first.”
“Yes?” Oswald asks breathlessly.
“I’ll make you pay,” he vows, lips curling into a dark smile. He might give in, but first, he’s going to have his wicked way with the little Penguin.
The gangster shrieks when Jim catches him around the waist and manhandles him onto his back in the process. Pinning his hands beside his head, the cop looks very pleased when his man’s eyes darken from arousal.
Leaning down, he presses a bruising kiss against his man’s lips, effectively distracting the devious imp in the process. He yanks the cravat from his neck next, using the piece of garment to tie Oswald’s hands swiftly to the headboard. Giving the mobster his dirtiest smile, Jim he straddles his narrow waist while already starting to rip the buttons of his shirt open.
“Told you I’d find a more pleasurable use for shackles,” he growls against his mobster’s skin, sucking the remaining cream from his throat.
As hoped, his little gangster agrees so very eagerly. It’s probably the relief from not getting a divorce right away, Jim muses. They haven’t even started but Oswald is already gasping and writhing beneath his hands.
Chuckling mischievously the cop starts his journey south and despite his delicate man moaning impatiently, Jim knows no mercy. Taking his time, he drags his tongue over the delicate clavicles, slightly biting down when Oswald starts trashing too much. Strong, calloused fingers then count fine ribs one by one, cherishing each treasured bone extensively.
By the time Jim starts sucking his nipples, the mobster is practically mindless. Eyes rolling back into his head, he starts begging his man to fuck him already. Of course, Jim doesn’t comply. Sitting back on his haunches, he enjoys watching his man’s hips rolling towards him. Desperately thrusting into nothing, the gangster searches for some form of friction.
Oswald sighs in relief when thinking Jim has finally pity. Instead, the cop decides to tease him with featherlight kisses right above where he needs him the most.
“Jim,” he whines, tossing his head back and yanking ineffectively at his makeshift shackles.
“Yes?” he asks indifferently, ignoring his own raging hard-on. The gangster pulls again at his restraints, eliciting another lewd smirk from his husband in the process. He’s truly good with knots, Jim thinks proudly as he starts caressing his man’s thighs. Tired of playing, he finally frees him of his pants and drops his own shorts.
“I like you like that,” he confesses as he drags his nails lightly over the exposed skin. “Naked from the waist down, covered in whipped cream, and tied to a bed. There’s not much damage you can do like that,” he snickers while giving Oswald’s cock a playful lick from base to tip. In return, the mobster nearly yanks the headboard off. Trying to calm him down, he leans down for another heated kiss, thoroughly enjoying when he feels Oswald’s cock press against his stomach.
Wantonly spreading his legs, the criminal starts moving his hips, trying to increase the pressure on his leaking cock. A distressed, guttural sound escapes his throat and finally, Jim has mercy. Sneaking a hand between their bodies, he starts pumping both their cocks in a firm grip. It takes Oswald only seconds to cum hard over Jim’s fist.
It would be a lie to say Jim’s wasn’t still mad at his husband. But when he curls up against his chest, head placed directly over his beating heart, he’s got a hard time being as angry as he should be too. Despite himself, he kisses each reddened wrist carefully before settling against the pillows.
“I still don’t like what we are about to do,” Oswald confesses tentatively, looking up at him through his long lashes. The cop deliberately ignores him. He’s got Oswald exactly where he wants him to be and like hell, he’s going to backpedal now.
“That’s not negotiable,” Jim reminds him, fingers curling around his husband’s arm.
“I could keep you down here,” the mobster suggests casually and to Jim’s dismay, only half-jokingly. His grip tightens in warning.
“I wouldn’t,” he concedes. “What I did was horrid enough.” Propping himself up on one hand, he looks his spouse straight in the eye. “I was pretty much unable to think in the hours following your death and resurrection. I...losing you...it would have killed me too,” he confesses earnestly.
“You had enough mind left to poison me,” Jim points out but the heat is gone from his voice.
“I’m sorry,” he sighs, averting his eyes again and blushing slightly. And that’s exactly when another alarm bell goes off in Jim’s head.
“You are hiding something,” he accuses as the mobster ducks his head behind the pillow.
“I’m not,” he squeaks unconvincingly.
Yanking the pillow from underneath his head, the cop glowers down at the rapidly paling form of his husband. “You would have died. What should I have done?”
“We’re past that. Try again,” Jim commands, giving his man his best severe stare.  If possible, Oswald shrinks further into the mattress.
“Jim,” he starts gently, lacking his usual confidence entirely. “Don’t you see the potential in being immortal?”
“No, not really,” he huffs in return. “I’m not really looking forward to seeing everyone I love die.”
Oswald’s slightly hopeful face drops as he starts nibbling his fingernails frantically. “Jim,” he tries again, and his tone would be perfect for a spooked horse. “Would it be better if not everyone you love will die?”
Horror settling in his gut, the penny finally drops. “You didn’t?!” Jim practically screams.
Oswald’s silence is answer enough.
“When?” he sputters.
“Shortly before Ed snapped. But the procedure wasn’t perfected back then. It took me weeks to heal but that shot would have killed me else,” he admits pulling the blanket over his head like a child trying to hide.
Well, Jim should have known Oswald was serious when promising he’d love him forever.

A Fan Letter to Victor Nikiforov.
Dear Victor Nikiforov:
It has taken me a very long time to write this letter. I am 24 years old now, and I started writing it when I was 12. It has taken me this long because every time I thought I had the perfect words and was ready to send it, I would have to re-write it because there was always so much more I wanted to say. Now there are parts from all those old letters in this one, so the one I am sending to you now might be pretty long. I hope that's okay.
I had been skating for about six years when I saw you win the Junior World Championships when I was 12 years old and you were 16. When I watched you skate, at first I didn't think I could ever do what you did. I was having trouble learning double jumps and there you were already trying triples, even a triple axel. But more than that, I loved the way you moved. I wanted to be able to float like that across the ice, making it all look so effortless. And you were so beautiful, you didn't even look real to me. My friend Yuko fell in love with you instantly. She was the definition of the heart-eyes emoji before it even existed.
From that day on, I started following your journey. I saved up my allowance from working in my family's business and sometimes instead of buying lunch at the rink I would go next door to the bookstore and get all the magazines I could afford with you in them. I read all the articles and interviews and kept all the pictures in scrapbooks and some of them even on the walls of my room. When we got a VCR, I started recording every program you did. I still have tapes back home from every season up until I left home for training in the US. When I read you got a poodle puppy, I got one too that looked like him and named him Victor.
As I got older and was soon the age you were then and you were 20 and in seniors is when I really started to look up to you as more than just my favorite skater. I tried really hard to be in the same place for my skill level as you were when I first went into Juniors, and that made me realize how special you were. Nobody could do what you did out of all the Juniors in Japan, including me. Sometimes I got made fun of for my favorite skater not being from Japan, but I didn't care. I wanted to be just like you, and I made it a dream and a goal to compete against you some day. I didn't even care if you beat me. I just wanted to be on the same ice as you.
I remember watching when you made it to Worlds for the first time. I was so nervous for you and hoped that you wouldn't fall to the pressure of being the next Russian skating legend. Everybody was saying you were going to be the one to beat in every competition, especially if you won your first Worlds. I felt like I had known a secret for years that everyone else was just figuring out, because I always believed you would be a legendary champion. And when you won your first Worlds I was telling everyone at the rink that I had always known you'd be the best in the world.
And now here comes the part where I have a confession to make, and I hope it doesn't sound crazy. As I continued to follow you and watched your artistry grow along with your technical ability (I would constantly ask myself if you were even human, you never missed anything) I started falling in love with more than just your skating. The more I learned about you as a person, the more I really wished I could know you in some way. First I just wished I could be your friend, then I wished I could take lessons from you even for just one day, or even just practice with you. But the night I watched the Worlds where you landed the first quad flip you'd ever done in competition in the long program, I was so happy for you, proud of you, crying my eyes out because I just... loved you. I didn't know what that emotion was at the time, though. All I knew is I wished I could be the person to tell you how amazing you were, how you inspired me when I found it very hard to find any inspiration at all, what a special person you were... and have it mean anything at all to you.
When I hit a sudden growth spurt in my early 20s, my skating suffered greatly. I lost all the jumps I'd been able to do, and I struggled a lot. I worked hard on my artistry and my other skills as much as I could. I watched all the videos I'd saved of you from the internet (to replace those tapes I couldn't bring with me to Detroit), trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I wished again that I could have your help, even for just a day. So I started doing something again that I had done with my friend Yuko at my home rink back in Hasetsu when I was growing up and learning to skate: I started learning your programs and skating them. I started doing an Ina Bauer because of the one you had in your 2011 long program. Unfortunately mine isn't as good because I took so long to learn how, but I can keep trying. But I would follow your movements and I learned how to not just skate to the music, but with it. To feel it within me and how to present what it made me feel to the audience. My coach was wondering where it came from. The answer was a stretch, but it was fun to say I learned how from you.
I got my triples back for the most part, but I was always that skater that people said “he would be good if only he could do his jumps” about. I could do a great exhibition program (when I managed to be on the podium), but for competitions, my nerves always got in the way. I kept trying because I still had that goal of competing with you some day. I mean, I could skate your programs, why couldn't I do better? But there was a big difference from what I did in an after-hours practice and what I did when it counted. I wished I knew how you did it.
But the artistry I learned from you carried me to my first Grand Prix Final, and I was terrified. I finally had the chance to compete against you, and I was nowhere near the skater I wanted to be. I wanted to be able to stand on the ice with you as someone that could, at the very least, challenge enough to be on the same podium. And though it was something I couldn't admit to anyone else, I wanted to skate well on the slim chance that maybe, just maybe, I'd get on that podium and get to shake your hand, and maybe you'd tell me I did well. That maybe we'd take that podium picture together and for a few moments, you'd notice me. I still didn't know what that meant then, but I knew I wanted it more than anything in the world.
As you know the competition did not go well for me. I couldn't even talk to you when you spoke to me in the lobby afterward, and I'll be honest, it took me a while to not be hurt when you didn't know who I was... but not in the full of myself kind of way. It was because I had wanted that more than anything, and had done nothing to deserve it. It was that moment that made me think I should just move on from skating all together. I had to have been crazy to think I was worthy of skating on the same ice as you.
But then I went home, and decided one more time to try to do what had always helped me to feel better about myself when I was at my lowest. I skated as best I could to the most amazing program you had ever done, one that drew forth so many emotions from me, but mostly a feeling of longing and heartbreak. I was pretty sure I wasn't ever going to do it again, and skating it in that rink, with the music on a tiny iPhone speaker because our sound system was broken at that point, felt like saying goodbye. Not only to skating, but to every dream I had of being even a fraction of the skater you were, and of ever having the chance to be close to you, even for a moment.
And instead of saying goodbye, living for four minutes and twenty seconds inside the blade traces you had made so many times that season made me want to keep trying. I remembered why I loved the sport so much, and who I had come to love (or whatever I thought it was then) because of it. Over the next few days I began to think about how I would continue without a coach. I looked up at the posters on my wall that were five years old and older... and vowed that somehow, some way, I’d skate on the same ice as you again.
Then the video went viral, and I was mortified. What if you saw it? What if you thought, like everyone did in the comments, that I was a washed-up, fat loser that needed to retire and move on with his life because he never was a good skater anyway? What if you were angry that I dared to try to recreate the art you worked so hard on? How would I ever come face to face with you again after this and not be too afraid to even speak?
And then I woke up on a rare snowy April morning, and there you were. Because of that video. Because of stuff I wouldn't find out I'd forgotten until much later. Because the dream I thought was just hopeless fanboying, wasn't. You saw something in me that I couldn't see in myself.
At first I was terrified of you. I had always been an introvert: shy, shrinking away from being embraced or touched even in friendship except for from my family. Easily embarrassed and prone to saying ridiculously nerdy and dorky things that only my best friend Phichit understood about me and got me side eyes, eyerolls and mockery from everyone else. You made me face my insecurities head on from day one. Nothing but juvenile basics until I got myself back in shape. No rewards of any kind until I accomplished something. Eventually I tried to hide from you when I thought I wouldn't become what you expected of me... and instead you canceled practice and dragged me to the beach to talk.
That was the first time I saw a side of you I had only hoped existed... the one who wanted to understand me. To try to help me when he saw I was struggling. I told you then that I had always looked up to you... but never just how much. You promised you wouldn't be easy on me, but it would be how you showed your love.
And when you said that... everything made sense. I realized what it was that I'd felt for you all those years... and what I'd wished to receive from you in return. And... it... was happening. And from that day on... I never, ever wanted to lose you. I prayed to god every night that whatever this time was meant to be, I could make the most of it... but above all, that it wouldn't have to end. That somehow, some way... I could hold onto you until I was strong enough to give to you what was in my heart and soul... and then maybe you'd stay forever.
And you did. The rest of the story you lived with me, and continue to now.
Today we came full circle. I felt like today I needed to see how far I had come, needed you to see how far I had come. So I put that same music on – with a real sound system this time – and realized as I skated in those same blade traces that, just as it's always been, I am a better person and skater because of you.
And then, you turned right around... and skated to it... for me. Because you knew how much it meant to me. Because... I had shown you my love, and you were showing me yours in return. At one time, I didn't realize I wanted even just the smallest bit of your heart... and I have it all now, and I can’t live without it or you. And there are times I still can't believe that, and how lucky I am that you believed in me more than I had ever believed in myself, stood against the storms that came down on me when my faith in myself failed completely, sheltering me while teaching me how to ride them out, and how to rebuild.
I guess some dreams really are too big to bear alone. I will be forever grateful that you're sharing mine with me.
I love you, Victor Nikiforov. Thank you for helping me find the strength to become the person I am today. Never, ever forget that you will always be amazing, beautiful, inspiring, and perfect to me. Thank you for being who you are.
Your biggest fan,
Katsuki Yuri.

How much does points on your license affect my insurance?
I would like to let you people know that I'm a full-time student, and that this month has to be officially the worst month of my life. Throughout this month I've been pulled over twice, and the reason for them are pretty stupid if you ask me. I basically see it as being at the wrong place at the wrong time. The first time I got pulled over was while I was getting off a red light with a car in front of me. I got hit with 3 tickets. - Tailgating, (supposedly I was too close to the other car when i was getting off the red light) - Careless driving, (don't know how this plays a roll in why I got pull over) - Loud muffler, ( just got it back from the mechanic that day and had a leak on the exhaust) The second time I got pulled over I stopped on a red light and checked if I can make a right on red, there was no sign stating I can't, so I went ahead and turned red when possible. I was given two tickets. smh -____- FML - Failure to observe traffic control device ( don't know how if I clearly noticed it was red) - Careless Driving _______________________________ Aside from the facts that they are points on my license, I'm going to do my best in trying to take some courses that can remove the points they gave my license. All in all, how much will this affect my insurance. Again FML, I'm a full-time student who commutes and has no job.""

Liable for any outstanding premium? car insurance cancellation?
Car insurance cancellation - If you cancel your insurance more than 14 days after purchasing your policy, you will, depending on when you bought your policy, be entitled to a refund of your premium subject to the scale detailed in the policy booklet. We will also charge a 45 cancellation fee plus Insurance Premium Tax at the rate applicable at that time. A refund will not be given if you have had any claims during the relevant policy period. If you are paying by instalments, you will be liable for any outstanding premium I pay for my insurance in installments of 130 a month, i want to cancel my policy 4 months in. If you have AAA auto insurance?
Have you received a rebate? I am thinking of changing my auto and home insurance to them. They are not much cheaper than my current provider so I was reluctant to change, especially my home owners as I have heard it is not wise to switch home owners insurance in California. Anyway, the guy at AAA said they give back a rebate at the end of each year for 5%-7% of your policy cost if you do not have any tickets or accidents. I have searched to see if this is in fact true or if it is something they use to get you to sign up and then for some reason not qualify for it. ""Did not want to renew the car insurance, they did it anyway.?""
Our car insurance was expiring on the 28th of may. We had all the premium paid by the end of march. At the end of april we got rid of the car. Couple of days later we received renewal documents from the insurance company. We have been with those company for 2 years, we didn' t make any claims. For the past 2 years we were paying 102 pounds a month. The renewal documents were saying that we only got the 1 year NCB and that our monthly instalment is going to be 140 pounds a month. I rang them on the 6th of may and said that first of all we have 2years of NCB and we want the documents from them proving that , second of all I have asked how come the instalment went from 100 pounds to 140 pounds a month the nice guy explained that there was a mistake (in their system 1 year of NBC was showing) and now it has been sorted and we are going to receive the proof of 2 years NBC and the monthly instalment is going to be 100 pounds. I thanked the guy and said that we do not wish to extend the insurance and I am only waiting for the 2years of NBC. He said ok and I thought it was sorted. We went on holiday abroad on 21st of May and got back on the 7th of June and imagine my surprise when in the post I have found the letter from insurance company with the certificate of insurance enclosed and them thanking me for deciding to stay with them and saying that my monthly instalment is 130 pounds!!! (because apparently i decided not to the the brakedown cover that i had before!!!!) I decided to call them first thing in the morning, but befor I did it i checked my account and of course they have already debited it with 130 pounds. I called them and the woman there explained that they were never informed of not extending the policy and that of course they have it registered that i phoned on the 6th of may with questions but they called me and left a message on my voicemail and apparently i never rang them back. She explained that all I have to do is to send the certificate of motor insurance back and then i will get the money. So i did. Once they got it they rang me saying that now they want the proof of selling/scrapping the car, WHY???I do not think it is any of their business. Especially that as far as I am concerned I am not cancelling the policy , I never wanted it. It is all their fault they did not listen. Can I do something about it, I have also got the funny feeling they are not going to give me full refund that they are gonna come up with something.""

Can I get renter's insurance without a deductible?
Yesterday I got a quote from Geico on renters insurance. They said that I would have $6,000 personal belongings protection, $100,000 personal liability, with a $500 deductible. This would cost me $142 a year. I'm okay with the coverage amounts and the cost of the policy but I would like to get a smaller or zero deductible. Is this possible with renters insurance? Car insurance - My car is totalled - what now?
my car is totaled according to the insurace company. It is the other person at fault so their insurance is dealing with it. I feel as if I'm getting the runaround a bit. How will they determine a fair value of the car and what if I don't agree with what they offer? They have also given me a rental which they tell me I must return once the agreement is made and I will be out of town and cannot return it for a week. They said I have to pay for the rental of the days I am gone!!!!!! Do I have to agree to their terms or how do I go about handling this situation? HELP i don't like dealing with this stuff but I don't want to be screwed over Thanks

""Dealt with car accident outside of insurance company, how can I chase up the receipt?""
On Christmas Day I went out in the car to pick up some drinks from the petrol station and on the way out of the station I bumped someones car. I stopped and got out to give them my details (name, address and phone number) and then went home. In the panic of the moment I think I just wanted to get home as it was Christmas Day and I didn't hang around to take photos, ask for witnesses or discuss options with the other driver, which in hindsight I regret and realise was stupid. When I got home, the guy called me up and, again with the stupid mistakes, I said that I would rather settle outside of insurance; the driver wasn't keen on the idea at first and wanted to settle through the insurance company but I couldn't call them until the next week as they were closed for Christmas. He texted me the next day saying that he was going to get a quote from a garage and got back to me later with a quote for 400 through a 'friend of a friend's garage'. At this point I was a bit suspicious and the amount seemed very high for what I thought was not a lot of damage but at the same time he said that he either wanted to do it like that or through the insurance and I really didn't want to loose my no-claims discount as insurance for young male drivers is very high without the no-claims. In the end I decided to pay him, not without a certain bitterness owing to the fact that he was pressuring me for an immediate decision, which also made me suspicious. Having sent the cheque for 400, he kept up communications initially and let me know that he'd received it. He said that he would send me a copy of the receipt from the garage for my records but once he received the cheque I never heard back and now cannot get a reply. Bit long-winded for a question but that's the background story, my question is two-fold: 1. Can I do anything about it? It's more the principle than the money that bothers me, I know that I caused damage to his car but I now suspect it wasn't as much as he claimed. 2. Does 400 sound like too much or should I stop worrying about it? I hit the back corner of his car with the back corner of mine, and he later told me that I had cracked the rear bumper, which needed replacing. I'm not sure of the make of the car but I think it may have been a Ford Fiesta or something similar. I would really appreciate any help as it's weighing on my mind... I don't like people walking over me. At least if the amount he claimed sounds reasonable I can put it down to him being a wanker but the amount claimed being fair and forget about the whole thing.""

Pay out of pocket for my car or go through my insurance company?
I live on a hill. Last week, in a quirky weather situation, the street I live on got super-slick just long enough for my 2000 Toyota Camry to go into a 300' free-slide down the hill and crash into a curb and a tree. It was a one-car accident, no one was injured. The repairman can only give me a rough estimate at this time but he thinks it'd cost about $1500 to repair using old body parts, although he says it could cost more if he finds more damage as he goes along--in that case he thinks it might cost up to $2,000 to patch it up out of pocket. I asked him about the pros and cons of paying out of pocket vs. going through insurance in my particular case. He said that if I chose to go through insurance--which would mean getting a USAA adjuster out and all--that he was thinking it would probably cost $2500 to repair, maybe more if it turned out there was more damage that he could see at this time. But he pointed out that I'd have to pay the deductible (which I think is $500 for my car, not sure) and that my insurance rates would go up. But then you'd end up with a new-looking car. [as opposed to a patched-up looking car]. My husband absolutely wants to pay out of pocket--he does not want to involve our auto insurance company, saying, The insurance company is only for the big accidents. But I'd like to keep this car for several more years if I can because there's no car out there that I like better, so I'm wondering if maybe it might be worth going through the insurance company. Here's a little more information: My 2000 Toyota Camry has 115,000 miles on it and has been very reliable over the years. The motor wasn't damaged and, in fact the car is already driving well again except that one headlight and blinker are broken. There is, of course, body damage to the front and hood, plus a 6 crack over the left back tire (not very deep), which occurred when I backed out of the tree, slid again, and hit the curb on the opposite side of the street. Re: Our insurance situation? We (me and my 3 driving age children) had a string of costly minivan accidents in the 1990s: 1. one in 1997 when my daughter totaled my van, and got sued for injuries by 2 people in the other car (the lawsuit was settled many years ago but it dragged out for years). 2. one by me, a one-car accident, no injuries, our insurance company paid for the damage minus the deductible 3. 2 accidents caused by other drivers, so my insurance company didn't have to pay any damages--I don't know if USAA takes accidents caused by other people into consideration or not. 4. My son totaled my van in 2000 [which is why my current car is a year 2000]. So we have not called upon our insurance company for any expenses for almost 11 years now. Regarding traffic tickets? I got one 3-4 years ago for speeding--35 or 40 mph in a 25 mph zone-. If my points from this ticket have expired by now (not sure), then there are no other points on our record. Our children are now out of the nest and only one of them borrows our car when she comes to visit once every month or two. I put less than 10,000 miles/year on my car for work and vacations. We live in PA. So my question is this: Given the age of the car, amount of damage, etc., is it worth going through our insurance company to get the car fixed rather than pay OOP--or would going through insurance raise our insurance premiums so much that it wouldn't be worth it?""

Car insurance for someone driving my car? lil bit complicated =)?
My boyfriend drives my car occasionally and my full-coverage insurance will cover him and my car if he were to get in an accident. However, since I am still a student in college I'm on my parents' car insurance (have to pay them back once I graduate =P ) and they say that they don't want anyone who's not on the insurance policy to get in an accident and raise the family's rates, e.g. he's not allowed to drive the car. Understandable, however they won't add him onto our policy even if he pays his share himself. Now it's their prerogative, I'm not questioning that, but is there ANY way to purchase him automobile insurance that get's tapped FIRST in the event of an accident? ...To backtrack a little I've just researched non-owners policies, but they seem to work only after the initial insurance of the car (in my case my family's insurance) get's used up and the non-owner's insurance is used as a last resort; this still raises my family's insurance rates if there was an accident with him as the driver even if he had his own insurance. Does anybody know of any types of insurance that covers him driving my car without raising my parent's rates in the event of an accident? Thank you in advance! =) Oh and please don't say that he shouldn't be driving my car, etc. It's more of a hypothetical question as he rarely does but I'm getting tired of my parents getting on me when things happen, like getting the stomach flu when we're out and about and having him drive home, telling my mom later when im miserable, and her saying i don't care that you had the stomach flu he can't drive your car without his own insurance. Yay. Thanks, Mom.""

""My car insurance company sent me forms to fill out, after an accident. Do I need to do it?""
The police report states that I am not at fault. The passenger in my was badly hurt. My insurer wants me/my passenger to fill out a medical release/history form. I see no benefit in doing so. If the other driver does not have insurance, and we are not yet sure that they do, my insurer would pay my claim/my passengers claim under my uninsured coverage. If they have my passenger's medical history, they could try to find reasons to limit how much to pay out. They also want me to fill out a Report of Traffic Accident form. I have given a statement to the police, who said I'm not at fault. The other driver was cited, and I have also given an oral/recorded statement to my insurer. I don't' see the need to fill out an accident form. It just seems that my insurer is trying to cover their on *** in case my uninsured coverage kicks in. What if I don't fill these form out?""
