Y’all. I have been listening to Cowboy Carter almost all day, and Beyoncé has created a masterpiece. I usually do a vibe listen first time on albums, and she said “absolutely the fuck not” by having Ameriican Requiem be the opener. Hooked immediately. Jesus. Random thoughts:
Ameriican Requiem: oh, this is a really pretty start, wait, is that For What It’s Worth (Stop Children, what’s that sound) but her version? Holy shit, it is. And then she does like three other things in the same song, with incredible lyrics to set the entire album up.
Blackbird: my god, it’s gorgeous, and she included incredible artists on it.
16 Carriages: already super familiar with it, and it remains one of the most beautiful songs.
Protector: imagine being sung a lullaby by Beyoncé as a kid, and she’s just being a dope mom in the lyrics.
Having Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton and Linda Martell do the enthusiastic intros to multiple songs is fucking genius.
Texas Hold ‘Em: also been out for awhile, remains a banger.
Bodyguard is gonna be playing everywhere for months.
The decision to turn Jolene on its head and have her warning Jolene? So smart.
She just casually drops in some Italian opera on Daughter???
Angry Beyoncé rap is always fun.
II Most Wanted (Miley) and Levi’s Jeans (Post Malone) are also going to be everywhere. Great duets.
Ya Ya is wild as fuck. I love it and can’t believe we get to be alive as she releases this art.
Tyrant is 100% horny Beyoncé, and good for her.
Amen is one of the best outros ever. When she sings “trumpets blare”, it’s almost enough for me to believe god exists.
Anyway, that’s barely scratching the surface of this album. She’s a legend. I can’t believe this album exists.

Sleep Token's "The 100 Songs That Changed Our World" Article.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Transcript:
100 - Sleep Token
The Summoning
(Take Me Back To Eden, 2023)
The meteoric rise of Sleep Token caught us all by surprise. At the start of 2023, the mysterious masked band were one of the metal underground's buzziest names. Led by enigmatic vocalist Vessel, they were a band to watch, for sure, but firmly attracted the niche passion of a cult following.
Then came the song that would change everything. On consecutive days in early January, the band released two singles from their third album, Take Me Back To Eden: the burning, crashing Chokehold, followed by The Summoning - and it was the latter track that would turn them into an Earth-conquering, expectation-shattering phenomenon.
Veering between depraved tech metal, soulful vocals and shimmering electronics, an enormous, hymnal chorus gave way to an Earth-shifting breakdown and screams. Intricate and groove heavy, The Surmoning was more like three songs seamlessly crafted into one genre-fluid modern masterpiece. And it still had its trump card to play: a bendy, thirst-trap, funk outro that went viral on TikTok, turning the internet intoalusty Take1 puddle. Suddenly, Sleep Token were the most talked-about band on the planet.
"THERE ARE HINTS OF EARLY SLIPKNOT THERE."
COREY TAYLOR
"It took me three listens of [The Sumroning] to realise that when they do that whole psychedelic section at the end, that it's actually the same chorus as it was before, only in a completely different way," Evanescence's Amy Lee told Revolver. "And I love it even more that. I thought they just went a whole new direction and wrote a new part, and then I was like, 'Wait, that's the same...but not at all'."
Sleep Token weren't the most obvious choice for a commercial breakthrough. The success of The Summoning, an unconventional, seven-minute, brutal shapeshifter, bucks just about every music industry trend there is.
"It's going to a lot of different places, and I think there isn't any other band out there right now that's able to do that," Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford said earlier this year.
The Summoning set a chain reaction in motion that was unprecedented in modern metal. In just a few weeks, the band saw their Spotify figures jump from the thousands into the millions. To date, the track has been streamed more than 123 million times on Spotify and 19 million on YouTube. On release, Take Me Back To Eden went straight in at No.3 in the UK and was the most streamed metal album of 2023. When the band announced a show at Wembley Arena, tickets sold out in 10 minutes.
Earlier this year, they left the metal-heavy roster of Spinefarm Records for RCA, the home of mainstream megastars Justin Timberlake and rapper Doja Cat.
"In heavy music, or even in just rock, even in the last decade or 15 years, there's so few stories of bands ever breaking through," says Health bassist and producer, John Famiglietti, who supported the band at Wembley and sees Sleep Token's success as proof metal still can resonate on a massive scale. "This is one of the few times I've seen a band go from a fucking club to an arena in six months. And I don't know the last time that happened."
It's worth pointing out that in the social media era where celebrities and artists are more accessible than ever, Sleep Token have achieved all of this on their own terms. To date, they've barely done any press, while their masked mystique is all part of the allure. Last year, fans reacted with outrage when bassist III's identity and birth certificate were allegedly leaked online, seemingly leading to a decision to wipe the band's Instagram.
"There are hints of early Slipknot there," Knot vocalist Corey Taylor told The Allison Hagendorf Show in 2023, thinking back to the early internet days before Slipknot removed their masks. "At first, we were like, 'Nope. You get nothing. This is what you get, you figure it out. We'll let the music speak for ourselves.
Today, Sleep Token are being mentioned in the same breath as potential future Download headliners Ghost, Gojira, and Architects. The only difference? Sleep Token have managed to ascend to the same level as those bands in a fraction of the time. Metal needs new superstars who will push things forward, innovate and keep the scene relevant - and with Sleep Token we have a band we can believe in. DL

love is embarassing
before i even go on about this fic, can i just say how RELATABLE this song is? it hits you right in the guts (which i think why her album was established but eh). BUT THIS SONG IS SUCH A BOP!!
ANYWAY
PART 3 Y'ALL!!
pairing/s: carlos sainz x ex!reader
warnings: swearing and 100% not proof-read (and i'm proud of it), mentions of crucifying :')
part one | part two | part three
I told my friends you were the one After I'd known you like a month And then you kissed some girl from high school And I stayed in bed for like a week When you said space was what you need Waited by my phone like a goddamn fool
All of your friends gushed over your new boyfriend - carlos sainz jr, so hot, so rich, so handsome. y/n reckoned it was true love from the very beginning.
but then of course.
another girl seemed so much more interesting to him!
but he told you
that he was stressed, needed more time alone and wanted some space.
y/n was such an idiot
for even thinking that he would come back to her
with welcome arms
And now it don't mean a thing God, love's fucking embarrassing Just watch as I crucify myself For some weird second string Loser who's not worth mentionin' My God, love's embarrassing as hell
how, how, how?
had y/n done something so fucking stupid?
she'd told all her friends
'he's mine, he's the one for me'
but god
y/n would crucify herself
if it meant that all of the stupid stuff she had done would get rid of itself
and all that would be left of her would be nothing but the flames her and carlos' relationship had gone down in.
love sticks onto you like superglue
and my god
it was mortifying
And I consoled you while you cried Over your ex-girlfriend's new guy My God, how could I be so stupid? You found a new version of me And I damn near started World War III Jesus, what was I even doing?
he would never shut up about her, how maria got a new guy
so
damn
quickly
and y/n was there for him, every step of the way
she made him into the person he is today
yet it meant nothing
he found someone better
hotter
prettier
not even words could explain how hurt she was
she tried to pretend like she didn't care
until she truly realised she really didn't care
Yeah, yeah, I give up, give up I give up everything I'm plannin' out my wedding With some guy I'm never marryin' I'm givin' up, I'm givin' up But I keep comin' back for more
your heart always skipped a beat whenever carlos asked you to get ready, that you two would be going out.
perhaps, you thought, he'll go down on one knee
and you two would be happy forever, making a family and being happy together
but it never happened
and it never will
y/n gave up
she put down everything for him
but she wanted what she deserved
and she wasn't letting go so easily
note:
she tried to pretend like she didn't care
until she truly realised she really didn't care
yep, i got it from isa's tiktok!
anyway, thanks so much! lemme know if u guys are up for a part 4, and if so, what GUTS song? i love you guys, thank you!

hi ! first of all; i read ELYN over the easter weekend and stayed up till like five am waiting for it to get happy so i could sleep (i gave up) and i loved it so so much. It just feels like such a tangible, realistic outcome for them (if we ignore s3) it made me ache in that exact anxious yearning way the actual show does. Big ask and 100% appreciate it if the answer is no but are you planning to write more for them in that universe? Would love to see them when Wille is at university, or see Wille simply make some (oblivious?) uni friends, or see Sara and Simon interact again or honestly literally anything and everything.
secondly, and who knows maybe (probably) you’re aware of this but the photos/images in the fic do not appear as images but just as a text/error box? Is that intentional or did they break? I kept finding myself curious as to what image was put with the chapters haha
Hi!!! I hope you had a good easter... and went to sleep at some point... 😅
Thank you for alerting me about the images! I was not aware of that :( Although I guess that makes all those hours hardcoding the text threads and tumblr posts so they would work without images worth it 😂
I have gone through it all again and updated the image links so they are working for me now (let me know if they're still broken for you?).
There's nothing in them that's required to follow the fic, you just get to judge the time I spent procrastinating by making album covers and then sorting all the random pop songs I'd invented into albums (something that was definitely vital even though no one but me cares about the difference in vibe between Simme eras 🤣).
If you are just interested in the art, these are the 4 covers I used in the fic:
Tumblr media
Sadly this fic was always destined to lose canon status after season 3 (although I am going to keep believing August's arc could go the ELYN route until proven otherwise).
Regarding sequels, prooobably not? Sorry :( I have more notes for Simon pov scenes during and before than anything set after because I'm not sure what more I have to say, (other than wanting to write something of ELYN Wille with Edvin's new haircut but basically all I've got is this:
For a moment Simon thinks Wilhelm isn’t even here, then the bleached blond head turns and it’s Wilhelm’s face and Wilhelm’s eyes and Wilhelm’s mouth dropping open in surprise at seeing Simon in the doorway. “You’re here,” Wilhelm says. “How are you -?” “You cut your hair.” It’s dumb. Obviously. But Simon hasn’t slept and Wilhelm’s hair is almost white, sharp and bristled, and Simon wants to touch it, to see if it hurts. “I…” Wilhelm hesitates. “There were always rules about my appearance, about how I was allowed to look, and I thought…” he reaches a hand to his hairline, his face falling a little. “Do you hate it?” The bristles give under his fingers, impossibly soft. He looks older, but also somehow younger, like he’s reclaiming the rebellious teen years that the crown never let him have. “I want to kiss you,” Simon says. The coffee shop is full of people. At least four that Simon can see are looking at them, not even trying to be subtle. There’s a camera tilted in their direction, but it’s not close. “Can I kiss you?” “I-” Wilhelm starts doing the same glance - who’s watching, who’s filming - then seems to catch himself, snorts a soft laugh and pulls Simon in. It's too short for Simon to catch hold of, but he can run his fingers through it and it's soft or ghost them over to catch the sharp edges of the tips, and it's Wilhelm and he's here, they're both here. And they're going to be okay.

Just read chapter 17! It was sooo worth the wait!
It totally flew over my head that nico and will got a apartment (had to go back and reread, lol) but I feel like someone needs make a pintrest board on what there house looks like, what do you imagine?
As soon as I read that will was going to a party I KNEW he was going to trigger nico with alcohol. It was really sweet though how he just kept confessing his love to nico, I couldn't keep giggling at that part
Oh poor will, the dating accusations with ncio are only going to get worse lol. In all honesty I guess he's not going to care that much about people knowing he's bi, but I don't think nico will like the speculation
Nico making the luckey one the seventh track omg we love the cabin 7 refrence!
I am so ready for this new album (my spotify playlists consist of nicos music from this au, not even egsagurating) I'm so happy with the addition of all falls down (I hc that the saxophone was Austin's playing!)
Also will Hazel and or Frank ever make a appearance in this au? If not why? (Genuinely curious)
This was a great chapter! I hope you have so much fun at the eras tour, and I hope you get a good suprose song!
so sorry it took so long for me to respond to this!!! at first i wanted to wait till i was able to make a pinterest board, but then i couldn't really find exactly what i wanted (but still made a board - here's the link!) so i decided i'd just describe it:
it’s a penthouse, and right now it’s veryyyy empty. they moved into it just before will’s next semester started so not much time to decorate!! they kept all like the basic furniture, so i do think they have a sort of living room connected to the kitchen - hold up, now i’m realizing i sorta based that layout off my uncles house. don’t know why i did that but!! we’re going with it. so they have two couches in the “living room” and a tv, leading to a kitchen with the generic appliances + a kitchen island - then i think that there’s a hallway with doors to one of the bathrooms, the guest room, and the studio, and then the master bedroom is also like. right across from the kitchen. if im even making any sense. i actually don’t know what a penthouse looks like so im just going off of pinterest vibes💯💯 anyway i think that eventually, they’ll also def have a lot of (fake) plants (bc lord knows they don’t actually have time to water and take care of plants), and LOTSS OF BLANKETS. i think that like almost every time they go to a target or smth to get smth they actually need, they walk out of the store with at least one blanket. they’re all over the couches, the beds, the chairs, idk why but i just want their apartment to be very very cozy :) aside from that, will 100% has his record collection moved to their room, with a few hanging from the living room- there’s definitely shelves of a bunch of awards or posters and things like that - A PHOTO WALL TOO!! definitely a photo wall. i also think that both nico and will are very messy, at least when they’re busy with something (and they always are) so every countertop and table and desk is filledddd with clutter. like so much. papers and textbooks and headphones and laptops they’re everywhere.
i realize it’s actually really hard to explain my vision for their apartment, which is funny bc i have a very specific layout in my head - and also one for nico’s apartment in so american btw!! so maybe sometime ill figure out how to draw a floor plan just so i can show yall what im thinking, but in the end, that’s the general vibe of it!!
now on to the rest of the ask‼️
will is ADORABLE he’s just such a simp and i love him for that. drunk words r truly sober thoughts in his case
youre 100% right with will not really caring abt people knowing!! i know some people assumed that will was the one being outed, and this was going to lead to some sort of angsty plot line, but seriously- will doesn’t care for that stuff. in his eyes, he’s already out, because he’s come out to all of his friends and the people he knows. the people on twitter are trying to search for something that just isn’t really that important
YES YES YES FOR THE ALL FALLS DOWN HC!!! i forgot to mention the songs and the artists in the end notes but seriously, all falls down by lizzy mcalpine is SOOOO fucking nico. i almost considered it being apollo (which i think it could also be) except the production style just wasn’t rlly very him if u get what i mean?? he’s much more like mainstream pop, and nico is too but he’s less worried abt sticking to a genre and i think it matches him perfectly
hazel and frank WILL be making their appearances soon!! i’ve had their backstories planned for sooo long and i can’t WAIT to finally include them. it’s been a long time coming but i swear it’ll be worth the wait!!
thank you SOO MUCH and i’m sorry again for taking so long to respond to this!! i had an incredible time at the eras tour and got some AMAZING surprise songs so thank you for that!!

Hi, there! If you don't mind me asking, how did you make all those Bob's Burgers compilations? ( I love them btw 💕) I've been wanting to learn how to make some myself.
AWW THANK YOU SO MUCH
there's probably a better way to make comps than how i do it 😭 it takes forever because i watch the ENTIRE series (just to make sure i miss absolutely nothing lmfao) on a website that allows me to screen record since i cant on Disney. it's definitely easier if i'm making a secondary/minor-character-specific comp because i can just look up the episodes they're in and only watch those ones. BUT the specific website i used to make everything thats currently up on my channel hasn't been working well for everybody recently, so thanks to one of my friends i've got a FAR better website that i'll 100% use to make all my comps from now on!
it's called No Bullshit Bob's Burgers and it even allows you to search up episodes by name (with minimal pop ups)!!! as i find clips during my watch-thru, i sort them into albums in my camera roll by comp, and once i've finished rewatching the entire series and therefore have all my clips gathered, i edit the videos together in Splice. a free mobile app perfect for editing things like this!
it does take up a lot of my storage space lmfao but luckily it's never taken up all of it! and its totally worth it in the end because i am THE most dedicated bobs youtuber out there /j
hope this helped lmfao i am NOT good at giving advice 💀 can't wait to see you make your own comps!!

heyy while on the hip hop + rap recommendations subject, ive always been interested but never really known where to start. right now all i listen to is CJ the x, quebrada queer (Brazilian!! super recommend), and definitely putting some more interest in Kendrick Lamar. anyone you'd recommend?
Okay first of all CJ the X is a badass name and second of all I listened to some of his music and I’m definitely getting some Rav vibes! I’d recommend trying a lot of Ravs music but especially listen to ‘Put it Down’ ‘Cinnabar’ and really the entire album ‘Solar Flare’ ! :D
But if you wanna branch out to more rap music then Kendrick lamar is definitely a good start! I suggest listening to the albums I recommended in my last post!! ‘DAMN.’ ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ ‘good kid m.A.A.d. city’ ‘Section.80’ ‘Untitled unmastered’ ect ect. JUST LISTEN TO KENDRICK HES GREAT!!!
Another great artist that I love with all my heart is Danny Brown! His writing is incredible and his beats are so unique! ‘XXX’ was definitely my favourite, but ‘uknowwhatimsayin¿’ ‘The Hybrid’ and ‘Quaranta’ are also amazing and worth listening to! He’s got some weird lyrics but shh just focus on the beat trust me!
I’ve been waiting this whole rant to mention this but if you wanna get into rap PLEASE TRY THE OLDER STUFF!!! 70s-90s!!! There are so many tracks from back then that I’d say still rival the quality of most rap today! One of my favourite albums from back then (which is turning 34 in 2 weeks <3) is ‘Amerikkkas Most Wanted’ By Ice Cube! The storytelling is phenomenal, clear political commentary, amazing yet simple beats, it’s got EVERYTHING a hip hop album should have! It’s everything hip hop should BE! 100% worth listening to, even if you’re not into rap.
I also want to mention this one hip hop group that I absolutely LOVE!!! A Tribe Called Quest! Their music has more of a jazz-y vibe than someone like Ice Cube or Kendrick but nonetheless, still amazing! I’m sure Q-tip and Phife Dawgs unique voices will get you hooked instantly! ‘Midnight Marauders’ and ‘The Low End Theory’ are such incredible albums with every track having a unique beat, yet still keeping the same feel and vibe!
Theres so so so many artists I could go on about for hours, but I’m just gonna keep it short and give you a list of a bunch of pre-2000s songs from my playlist! :)
Street Struck - Big L
Runnin’ - The Pharcyde
Appetite For Destruction - N.W.A
Mama Said Knock You Out - LL COOL J
Dolly My Baby - Super Cat
Rebirth of Slick - Digable Planets
Groove Is in the Heart - Deee-Lite
Da Mystery of Chessboxin’ - Wu-tang clan
Double Trouble - The Roots
Hope this helps you get a little more into rap! And please keep asking me ANYTHING hip hop related I love talking about this stuff! :D

wait pls talk more about kiryo and his relationship. i need to hear more
You probably meet on one of those games where you need to join a clan for dailies, and that’s the only reason you end up clicking and joining the first one you find.
The guys in there are shocked when they welcome you and find out you’re a girl, and Kiryu immediately notices the way they start to treat you differently, flirting with you and calling you pretty (even though your pfp is literally a random anime girl?)
He ends up standing up for you in the main group chat when they say some pretty nasty things— all because they’re jealous you’re not jumping all over them with their advances.
Ends up starting a private chat with you to check whether you’re okay.
You end up forming a friendship with him and he’s always someone you wake up and send a good morning message to— like he’s one of your close friends. You tell yourself you’re just doing it in passing as you log in to claim your dailies, but it feels like something more.
You both start talking and decide to find your own clan together? So you either dip together to find another one or you leave to make a new one yourselves.
Eventually he asks for your discord for game discussion, but really it’s because he’d find it so much easier to text back and forth using that then having to open the game every single time just to talk to you.
You both end up voice chatting one night, and you end up staying awake until 5am— despite the fact you have to get up at 7am. End up spending the rest of the day almost comatose, but it was worth it.
When you exchange selfies you can’t believe how hot he is— but you try to control yourself because you don’t want to ruin your friendship.
You end up FaceTiming or video chatting once you exchange the selfies. And a lot of the time you’ll both just be gaming or doing mundane things on call together but you just like being with each other?
You fall asleep on call together too— even though neither of you are dating.
And then one evening you end up watching a movie together on voice chat as Kiryu streams it, and somehow he ends up confessing that he sees you as more than a friend— and you’re relieved cause you feel the exact same.
Ends up introducing you to his friends when they catch him in a video call with you one day, their faces hovering over his shoulder to see who’s been taking so much of Kiryu’s time lately.
He makes it no secret that he’s got a girlfriend, has no issue with talking about you to anyone, and he will talk about you.
You send each other care packages. Whether it’s the snacks that are common in your countries, or clothing? Like Kiryu has sent you one of his cardigans that’s doused in his perfume so you can smell him, and you’ve sent him back a pair of panties because you have absolutely no shame. (Send him one of your cardigans too though cause he’ll 100% wear it)
He’s got your face as his Lock Screen AND his wallpaper. You definitely do the thing where you both do half a heart with your hands and he pastes the pictures together to form a whole heart.
You end up sending more risqué photos to each other too. Kiryu has an entire secret album on his phone of photos and videos you’ve sent him in pretty lingerie or making pretty sounds while you touch yourself for him. He’s lost count of the number of calls you’ve had e-sex, and you both just lay there after talking about how much you long to do it together someday.
With time differences, you have a terrible habit of sending him lewd photos when he’s trying to get ready for work, and he either has to snap one back in the toilets or you have to wait until later when it ends up being a bad time for you— but he just loves to tease you anyway.
If you ever argue it’s rough. But he’ll borrow friends phones to send you memes or stickers to try and get you to unblock him so you can talk again— he knows you’d unblock him eventually but he’s impatient!!!
He’s forever ordering things for you online. Whether it’s flowers, cute gifts or takeout. He loves receiving a text from you during the day to say you just got a package at the door🥺 and getting photos back of whatever it is.
Has no interest in any other girls, so there’s no point them even trying. Of course, he’s still ever the gentleman but he friendzones girls SO fast.
You have cute matching names and pfps on discord. You change them up quite often, but you’re always matching.
He’s got that scary guard dog privilege too, and has no shame telling a guy where to go if he thinks someone is flirting with you a little too much, or coming on to you.
Biggest hype man on all your socials too. Leaves the nicest comments on all your photos, watches all your stories, sends line after line about how perfect you are and how lucky he is. And he’s got no qualms telling guys to get the fuck off your post if they try to say you’re hot etc.
His friends are always sending you messages to try and organise a surprise trip for you guys to meet, or celebrations for your birthdays or anniversaries.
He’s absolutely offering to pay for your plane ticket to come and see him, and he can’t wait actually.
And when you finally do meet you’re having that moment as you literally run into his arms in the middle of an airport, dropping your bag on the floor as he doesn’t let you go.

I, too, love kind of depressing and existential things and I’ve actually seen and loved quite a few things you’ve listed so I will 100% check out your other recommendations! It’s so incredibly funny to me that you recommended hospice because that’s actually one of my favorite albums ever and I have never heard someone mention it before.
also…another weird question but have you ever watched the good place? because that is absolutely Not dark and dreary, but it Is pleasant and funny and existential. genuinely one of the best shows I’ve ever watched (acting, writing, one of the most satisfying conclusions in the history of tv imo). sorry, I’m legally required to bring it up because it and mob psycho are like this 🤞as my all time favorite pieces of media and I think people who like mob will generally like the good place. They have similar heart. I promise it is worth it, there is sooo much more to it than just that one big plot twist. (so sorry to be a good place ad, I just need to share the love).
also thank you for taking my question so seriously, I really appreciate it <3 <3 <3 wishing you all the best!!!
i did actually watch the first three seasons and really enjoy them :D i was waiting for season 4 to come to netflix and then i got distracted and forgot it existed for a really long time and i dont have anyone to tie me down and make me watch the rest of it so its on my watchlist w better call saul and some of the other shows ive abandoned

Artist of the Year Harry Styles Made Harry’s House the Place to Be in 2022
A memorable album and the hottest tour ticket around made Styles a force to be reckoned with in 2022
Tumblr media
As another wild year in entertainment heads towards a close, it would be nearly impossible to discuss many of the biggest pop culture moments of 2022 without talking about Harry Styles. If breaking Billboard records and releasing a third solo album (which then earned him six more Grammy nominations) wasn’t enough, Styles also spent the past few months heading one of the most in-demand and oft-discussed tours of 2022. Don’t worry, darling, there was also a foray into movies that saw the artist on the film festival circuit, too. For one reason or another, Harry Styles was the name on everyone’s lips.
Styles offstage operates mostly within a tight-knit circle of trusted collaborators, and pulled in some of his favorite co-writers and producers to begin laying the foundation for Harry’s House, released in May 2022. The results were strong — Styles’ latest full-length outing is a pop-rock record that dazzled upon arrival and ended up having the legs to remain relevant as the year wore on.
Lead single “As It Was” sat atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a whopping 15 weeks, the longest reign by a British artist and by an an artist with no features or accompanying acts. As the record extended, Styles’ name was No. 1 on the charts the same week a film with his first starring role was No. 1 at the domestic box office.
Harry’s House was a breath of fresh air, kicking off with the buoyant “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” and wrapping with the minimalist, emotional “Love of My Life.” Tucked in the 13 tracks are small peeks into Styles’ daily life, confessional moments of intimacy, and thoughtful encouragements, like the tender “Matilda.” The gentle ease of “Cinema” and glow left behind by “Daylight” ensure that the B-sides are far from filler. It’s an album that felt true to this moment in Styles’ career — it’s self-assured and calmer than the intensity of his self-titled debut or the seductive melancholy of Fine Line.
When Styles took Harry’s House out on the road and added songs from the record to the set list of the wonderfully never-ending “Love On Tour,” things really kicked into high gear. Residencies have become something of a trend in the business of live shows, which is still struggling to find stability in a Covid-rattled world, but Styles perfected the mini-residency with his 2022 outings, setting up shop in a city for weeks on end and letting the crowds flock his way.
Getting into Harry’s House quickly became the hottest ticket in town, and the most dedicated among the Harries would take to sleeping on the sidewalk or waiting in August New York heat for a shot at the best spot in the pit. The most diehard fans might have even been caught hopping from city to city, forming a boa’d and bejeweled caravan. Whether enjoying the show from the floor or closer to the rafters (for this writer it was the latter, for what it’s worth), the environment at one of Styles’ live shows was positively electric.
Part of fandom is the creation of inside jokes, rituals, and routines, and a Harry Styles concert has its own fingerprint, from the outfits to the energy. Jump in the conga line that always pops up during “Treat People with Kindness” or always wonder what could have been.

This will be long and personal, so you can feel free to scroll past it.
Good things of 2023:
Grandmother’s 80th birthday; we had a celebration in a restaurant with family and her friends. Almost 50 people!
Morrie’s live stream Flesh Odyssey at his birthday (4th March)
My best friend @vinidra visited in March and I remember getting wasted and listening to Black Sabbath and Def Leppard till 3am. And watching that one 1989 Aerosmith live! Wasn’t there Dir en grey stream on GALACAA? I think we got access from a friend and watched that too.
On April 1st Morrie’s fan club Reveries opened on BitFan application – with foreign fans finally being able to join. It is a pricey affair, but the consistency and amount of content he brings every single day is so worth it. I love being a Reverie and having near direct contact with Morrie and the fans. So grateful for this community.
Right after Easter, on April 12th, we got BUCK-TICK’s new album. No one would predict it would be the last release before Sakurai passing away… It’s a solid record and ワルキューレの騎行 will forever be one of my favourite songs.
April was such a good month for me – on 18th I got the news I got promoted to a team leader. So, following a big raise for 2022 performance, I got another big raise with role change. Feeling like I’m finally getting the money I deserve for my hard work. The role is difficult and very challenging, but also satisfying and I enjoy what I do. It helped me a lot with improving my communication skills, standing up for myself and feeling confident with my decisions.
End of April was my friend Karin visiting, we went to Metallica symphonic concert in philharmonic and had amazing time overall during the long May weekend.
In May I came out to my co-workers and I was met with so much support I’m still overwhelmed. Being able to feel like I can be 100% myself at work is amazing. You don’t realise you need it until you get this freedom.
May 23rd was Boris live in Warsaw. I reconnected with an old friend and had amazing time with him during the gig. The show itself was everything I ever wanted from Boris – perfectly heavy and fast. Being front row surely contributed to that. My mission was to wait for the band after the show and talk to Atsuo and I succeeded! Got a picture with the band ant all. All possible thanks to a mutual friend of the band and mine.
May 31st – Def Leppard and Motley Crue in Krakow! Again hanging out with @vinidra and his friend. The show… let’s say Motley Crue was meh, though visual and female dancers were incredible. But Def Leppard was there to save the night, it was incredible and I had so so so much fun! Can’t wait to see them again live.
In June I visited Karin in Krynica Morska. It’s a very thin piece of land with sea at one side and huge lake on the other. I loved the beach walks there and hearing the waves at night, when falling asleep.
Also in June my close friend had a major surgery. So brave of her to decide to undergo it and I’m even more happy that she’s made steady recovery, now having no regrets.
June 20th was the day Josh Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet came out! I’m always happy learning that musicians I love are just as queer as me.
And by end of June DEAD END has re-issued all four albums from 80s: DEAD LINE, Ghost Of Romance, shambara and ZERO. Got them all, in true collector spirit.
July 21st Greta Van Fleet released a new album. I wasn’t stoked about it at first but of course – the more I listened to it, the more I fell in love with it. It’s probably my favourite album of the year.
I didn’t do anything special for my birthday on August 12th, but the following week I was flying to Cologne for a week to stay with my best friend. We did a lot of furniture and home decor shopping for the new house she moved into. We went to cinema to see Metallica’s live stream, and otherwise just had good time being lazy. Oh! And I helped her pick out and buy her first guitar. Love the visit in huge 4-story music shop in Cologne.
In September I’ve volunteered to take dogs from a shelter for walks for a day. I want to do it again.
On September 27th Morrie released another solo album Solitudes I. I feel like I didn’t listen to it enough this year, but this is miles better than Ballad D to me.
October 15th was election day in Poland and this was incredible – how many people showed up. For the first time I had to stand in the queue to vote. And we won. Fascist right wing government was overthrown. I have some home things will finally get better in my country.
Fast forward to November 5th – after a lot of trouble I made it to Hamburg and met with a friend I’ve know for years, but never had a chance to see in person. Had amazing time! It’s incredible to have such dedicated Morrie fan so close and be able to talk about music for couple of hours without feeling tired.
November 6th – I also finally met my close friend, we’ve never seen each other before. She’s such a lovely human being. She introduced me to Greta Van Fleet, so it felt only right to gift her a ticket to their show. The live was amazing, the most beautiful show I’ve ever been to. I will never get over how talented those young guys are.
From Nov 7th to 11th I was staying with my friend in Bielefeld. Met her cutest Siamese cat Bibi!
And last thing worth mentioning – I got the courage to go to company winter party and I actually had fun. I don’t remember when was the last time I simply wanted to have fun and when was the last time I danced. My whole body hurt after that night, but I really loved it. Oh, and I stole the neon flamingo lamp. Worth it.

100 of my favorite Hip Hop Albums of 2022 Might be excessive but there was simply just a ton of music this year that I enjoyed and found myself going back to, and I believe each of them is worth checking out.  Each of the album titles here also links to either a bandcamp page or stream where you can listen to the project. My Favorite Releases of the Year
I've been thinking a lot about my favorite albums of the year. This is a collection of the releases that infected my brain this year. Now, there are very good, even great, albums that didn't make the list, but I wanted to bring only what truly touched me this year.
Without further ado, the list in no particular order:
GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo: In a year of many good pop albums, this one stands above the rest. The edgy lyrics manage to embody so much of what it means to be a woman in an honest way that feels authentic. It doesn't hurt that the music is catchy as hell. On "bad idea right?" the guitar, in particular, gets a moment to shine in a solo reminiscent of the Guess Who. Another track, the stripped-down "Lacy", allows a simple acoustic guitar to accompany the harmony-soaked track. Sophomore albums are never easy, but this one exceeds all expectations, and Rodrigo has carved a special place for herself.
Check Out Track: Lacy
10,000 gecs- 100 gecs: Another sophomore album that shows the band's talent was not a fluke. When the album was announced, we were treated with the song titles-- "Frog on the Floor"? "Doritos & Fritos"? What could these things possibly be? And when the album arrived, it did not disappoint with the answers to our questions. The songs range from nu-metal-inspired ("Dumbest Girl Alive") to ska-influenced ("Frog on the Floor") and beyond while continuing to push the pop boundaries with every track. Their growth is immense, and their pop sensibilities have only increased in the intervening years since their last album. At a scant 27 minutes, though, the album does leave you wanting more.
Check Out Track: Doritos & Fritos
So Much (For) Stardust- Fall Out Boy: If you've been following me for any appreciable amount of time, you'll know I have Fall Out Boy brain rot of the highest degree. But I am happy to tell you that this album is good even without the rose-tinted glasses. Stepping back into a more guitar-focused sound, the band returns to what they do best. The rocking opening track "Love From the Other Side" sets the tone for the album, with driving drums that constantly push the song forward and a taste of the grand orchestral sound they were so famous for in their first post-hiatus album, Save Rock & Roll. "The Pink Seashell", which features an Ethan Hawke speech from Reality Bites, serves as a thesis statement for the album, preaching the beauty of the everyday. This album was well worth the years-long wait, and their obvious joy when I saw them perform some of the album live this year filled me with the same jubilation.
Check Out Track: What a Time to be Alive
Freak of Nature- Heart Attack Man: This is the album on the list I have the most mixed feelings about. Initially, I must say I was disappointed in the shift into solidly pop-punk territory. I was a huge fan of their sound on Fake Blood which, while pop-punk at times, did show more of their emo influence. But Freak of Nature retains so much of what makes Hammy special- the unabashed anger of the human soul, laid bare for all to see. It took time for me to warm up to it, but songs like "C4" and "Like a Kennedy" have wormed their way into my brain. Having seen them live several times now, I can say they are refining themselves with every release and growing into a confidence that I'm sure will continue.
Check Out Track: C4
always cloudy- saturdays at your place: This EP was one of my highly anticipated releases of the year, and it lived up to all of the hype. The opening track, "Future", draws in the listener with a rough voice accompanied by strong harmonies before the song drops all vocals in favor of showing their ability to produce an amazing groove. The well-med "Tarot Cards" is a highlight, an emo track easily rivaling the greats of Modern Baseball. Every track is killer, showing the full potential of the band while furthering their sound. I do not think I am out of line saying I believe this will easily go down as a classic. You cannot look me in the eye and say that "Hospital Bed" is anything other than a classic of the genre. The band is finally heading out west early next year, and I am eager to see the EP live.
Check Out Track: future
Frame & Canvas (25th Anniversary Edition)- Braid: Is it cheating to include an album that is already a classic? Perhaps. But few remasters manage to do what the Frame & Canvas 25th Anniversary Edition has done. By now, the story of how this album came to be is well-worn, so I will not spill ink to repeat it, only to comment that we are all the better for it. This version of the album allows more space to breathe; no longer is everything muddled together in a jumble of sound. I want to highlight how well you are now able to enjoy the individual parts, such as the drums. If you haven't revisited this emo classic in a minute, this release is a sign to delve back into Braid and appreciate their sound.
Check Out Track: First Day Back
Medium Gnarly- Swiss Army Wife: Coming out just a few days into the year, this album set the tone for all emo coming out this year. The guitar work is phenomenal, the lyrics come hard and fast, and the two together simply demand your attention. Like others in this wave, the band deploys the use of screaming throughout the album to great effect, elevating the emotional level at select moments. Throughout the album, I was impressed by the restraint in the twinkle. You and I both know how vital The Twinkle is for emo music, but Swiss Army Wife earns every riff. I was recommended this album by @t---w, who shared a music video of their track "Halloween" and I was instantly taken. They're a delight who I expect to see end up on many year-end lists.
Check Out Track: CBS at 7:00
Southeast of Somewhere- Kerosene Heights: This is the most recent addition to my list. In the heat of FOMO, I decided to try Spotify in December despite my better judgment. The AI DJ dished up their track "Kathryn" for me, and instantly I was in love. When I listen to the album, I can't help but bob my head along as I yearn to hear the songs live. The songs demand to be heard loud in a sweaty bar as everyone screams along to the lyrics.
Check Out Track: Kathryn
Why Would I Watch- Hot Mulligan: Any follow-up to the much beloved you'll be fine was going to find itself under a spotlight, but the band managed to deliver another album of heartbreaking bangers. Much as before, their guitar work is sublime, and the lyrics demand to be memorized and poured over again and again. I had the pleasure of seeing the full album performed live, and I can confidently say they've grown so much from even when I saw them last year. Why Would I Watch is proof they were not a flash in the pan and easily cements the band as a leader in the much discussed fifth wave scene. I do wonder what comes next for the band. Is this the set sound? Will they branch out on the next release? Only time will tell, and I will be first in line to hear what they have in store.
Check Out Track: Gans Media Retro Games
Miracle- Equipment: Now, why am I putting an EP on this list when the same band released a full-length LP this year? Great question. To begin with, this EP is perfect to me. Not a single note or lyric was misplaced. Four perfect tunes that I listened to on repeat for months. I think I might actually have the opening of "Talk to Strangers" tattooed on my brain by this point. Meanwhile, I am still digesting the album, carefully picking it apart. I guess this makes it over its younger brother simply because it's tight. Not that the album is bad, but the EP is just that good.
Check Out Track: Talk to Strangers
