You know, Springtrap should REALLY be in Dead By Daylight. No, not because he’s popular with a certain fanbase and whatnot… just because he fits the bill perfectly to be a slasher killer.

What makes a good slasher killer can be easily defined by what we’ve seen already. They need to have an iconic design or a feature that we can easily identify them with such as Michael’s white Halloween mask or Freddy’s Fedora (etc.), they need to have killed people (obviously) but in gruesome/gory ways, they need to be the main antagonist of their respective franchise, they need to have at least some kind of implication of supernatural abilities and they need to never stay dead even after they’ve supposedly been killed. That’s 5 traits. If a character meets at least 4 of those things, then they can be considered some kind of slasher character.

So let’s see what Springtrap/Afton has going for him…

1 - Iconic design: Yeah, he’s iconic enough. His signature yellow rabbit design is fairly distinguishable as well as his colour association, that being purple, yellow and sometimes a more sickly green. He’s even got a mask to go with it.

2 - Murderer: Oh, you better believe it. He’s even decently gory, like other slasher killers. Like, Springtrap is arguably the most gore we see in FNAF ever, that being that his fleshy remains are visible.

3 - Main villain: Ask any FNAF fan ever and they will tell you that Springtrap/William Afton is the main antagonist of the franchise, at least in Scott’s game saga.

4 - Supernatural abilities: This guy is an immortal zombie trapped inside a mechanical suit. Whether he’s still slightly alive or if he’s haunting his own suit doesn’t matter, that stuff ain’t natural. Sooo… yeah! Supernatural is a check!

5 - Doesn’t die: … come on, do I even need to say it? Okay, but seriously though, look at almost every horror slasher ever. They NEVER DIE. You could say they ALWAYS COME BACK. I mean, look at Chucky the Doll and how many times he supposedly gets killed and then comes back every damn time one way or another. Springtrap definitely fits that trope of always being brought back.

Anyways, that’s all. Don’t take this post too seriously, I’m just making this for fun and pointing out to people that Springtrap does actually meet that requirement to get into Dead By Daylight. Hope you had fun reading this! :D

so… im normal, obviously…

Anyways. I have a general idea on how every part of the FNaF (and subsequent related media) animatronics work. The one thing that tends to be a reach in my brain is ANIMATRONICS WALKING.

so here’s my theory/redesign on how this works!!!

(warning, this is a brain dump i wrote at midnight, so it may not be fully coherent! additionally, im not a mechanic nor do i have any mechanic/engineering experience. i just likea da robot)

i find the walking a bit hard to make realistic. around the 1980’s larger animatronics weren’t walking at all, and we’re only recently starting to make good walking robots. historically animatronics have been held in place via stands… so.

with walking, there are a lot of things to be considered. technology constraints, movement systems, balance, etc etc.

for technology constraints and movement systems, we have to look at how animatronics of this time typically function. they are powered by hydraulics (bursts of air), which requires gas and gas canisters. the mechanics of the hydraulics are connected to a computer, which up until recently (when chuck e cheese got rid of EVERY SINGLE ANIMATRONIC 😐) used pre-programmed floppy disks to run their movement.

a walking animatronic (powered by hydraulics, which is a technology constraint of the time) would need all of this to be INTERNAL. so along with all the other internal stuff like the endoskeleton, support layer (typical for more period accurate animatronics), hydraulics, you’re also adding a COMPUTER and a GAS CANISTER. this would, of course, make the animatronics quite heavy.

with these constraints in mind, here’s how i think walking would work. first, the animatronic would need to have its weight redistributed. the computer would be in the lower chest near the pelvic region, since computers are Heavy and it needs as much support and room as it can get.* the gas canisters would either just be stored in the legs, or both the arms and legs, though the latter might result in it being more top heavy which is not what we want.

*additionally, animatronics are large, and children (the target audience) are small. if they have an internal sound system, the sound system would likely come from the computer as well, which basically puts the sound at a child’s level, which adds to the benefit of it being lower in the body.

we need the weight evenly distributed so it can properly balance. it would be easy to just give it wheels or have it shuffle without picking up its feet, but we something that can WALK. so. you know what ill just make a diagram of my conclusion

now. this may seem like a simple conclusion. but it took a while for my brain to accept it since it had to consider Every Single Other Factor Beforehand. For Example:

1. how the joints work (the knee, pelvis, abdomen, and ankle are sliding joints, i think is what they’re called…)

2. how they know where to move (like how an npc moves in a video game. they have a predetermined path coded into their computers, and stop when an obstacle is in front of them)

3. how they return to an idle position (instead of stopping the walking code entirely, they run a different code which brings them back to an idle stance instead of stopping them mid walk, which could leave them off balance)

4. how the hydraulics work (gas and servos that control gas output)

5. things that i could’ve potentially gotten wrong (step four of the diagram when the opposite leg swings up, weight distribution, how joints work, etc etc cuz im not an engineer or a mechanic)

6. alternate solutions (“why not servos for all movement?” unrealistic for 1980’s animatronics. “why not ball joints?” cuz ball joints ain’t gonna work here. “why don’t they have some of these features in game?” scott didn’t do research on how animatronics work in 2014. “why can’t they just be powered by the ghosts?” they can, this is specifically pre-ghost, since it’s implied in fnaf 1 and 2 they were able to walk before being possessed. id imagine being a ghost would just allow for control of electrical impulses, which would make the computer essentially useless since controlling electrical impulses means controlling the movement. the gas canisters would still need to be refilled though!)

Haven’t had a chance to see the movie yet but I think I might bring back this “Game Abby au” idea I had a while back,

It’s nothin too crazy

Just a “what if Abby was a character in the games?” And an opportunity to slightly rewrite the fnaf games into something I find more coherent and interesting

So here’s a lil Abby timeline and some fun facts about her in my au!

1983/FNAF 4- Abby is only a few months old by the time the events of this game happens.

William and mrs Afton are currently starting to go through a divorce so mrs Afton currently has Elizabeth and Abby with her while Michael and crying child are staying with William.

Imma say Michael is 12 and Elizabeth and crying child are 8 (I’m making them twins here) at this point

So I’d probably have Elizabeth be 10-11 when she gets scooped a couple years later

(Skipping fnaf 2 since it ain’t relevant here)

1990/FNAF 1-so Abby is now 7 and Michael is 19. Mrs Afton ended up “passing away” so Mike took Abby in as soon as he turned 18 to keep her away from William,

Succeeding in doing so since William was under investigation (but never arrested unfortunately)

So he takes the pizzeria job cause it was the only place in their small town that would take him, everyone else not trusting him after everything that’s happened with the Afton family.

Just like the movie he takes Abby with her.

After five nights of trying to survive, Abby ends up developing a bond with the animatronics, so they mellow out with the whole trying to kill mike thing,

Allowing Abby and mike the opportunity to find out some odd things about these seemingly living animatronics.

They eventually figure out the animatronics are possessed by the kids who went missing years ago, causing mike to become more suspicious of his father than ever.

Abby becomes close friends with the animatronics for about 3 years. Until the pizzeria needs to be closed down for good.

Mike manages to find out that the animatronics were dismantled for some reason and now the kid’s spirits have nothing to possess but are still unable to move on.

This prompts him and Abby to start really looking into what happened to these kids to help them move on, the kids haunting Abby to keep themselves tethered to this realm until they can properly move on.

Giving mike more motive to help them so Abby won’t be haunted for the rest of her life and possibly even deemed insane by others.

1995/Sister Location- Abby is now 12 and Michael is 24.

Abby is still being haunted by the missing kids and mikes still looking into what happened.

He ends up finding an old note from his dad, who’s been missing for two years, telling him that if anything happens to him, to go to the circus babys rental bunker

Michael goes by himself this time, seeing Abby as old enough to be able to be left alone, so she doesn’t get much to do.

That is, until after everything in sister location happens.

Instead of ennard leaving of their own accord due to mikes body becoming too rotten, Abby realizes after a few days of living with possessed mike that this isn’t quite Michael.

So, with the missing kids help, she manages to force ennard out of Michael, even getting herself pretty badly hurt from this due to ennard trying to take her body next.

After some recovery time in the hospital, she manages to reunite with a corpse Michael.

Michael is not doing well at all with the whole being turned into a zombie thing. Abby accepts it and tries to help him through it, but it’s a lot for both of them and strains their relationship.

They even lose contact with each other when Abby moves out for college, Michael thinking she’ll have a better chance to live her life if he’s not in it.

This also pretty much postponed the investigation into what happened to the missing kids. The ghost kids and Abby have gotten very used to each other so they’re not pushing to find a way for the ghost kids to move on.

Mikes still worried about it since it constantly looks like Abby’s talking to herself, but he still thinks it’s better than him staying with her to help the ghost kids

2013/FNAF 3- ok so Williams only locked away for 20 years instead of 30 in this. This is when i really start f••king with the timeline.

So Abby has been trying to live her life, even with the whole ghost kids haunting thing. But she’s still looking into what happened to them to try to find their killer (who they don’t know the identity of)

Then fazbear frights opens, which the ghost kids have a strong feeling could be the solution to their problem.

So Abby takes a night guard job there and finally gets to meet her father, who she didn’t get to interact with much as a kid

She doesn’t recognize him, but he recognizes her due to her having his eyes.

So he tries to lure “his little princess” out of her office and convince her to help him, scaring the hell outta her in the process.

Abby and the ghost kids manage to figure out that this isn’t just their killer, but Abby’s father,

Leaving Abby with the difficult decision of killing her father, who she holds in high regards since she didn’t know him that well, to save her best friends of over 20 years.

The two have a pretty brutal brawl, Abby needing to be saved by the puppet, who’s been seeking out William for years.

Abby lights the place on fire and barely manages to escape in time.

The puppet takes the ghost kids to guide them to the other side, their souls now finally able to rest

Abby is sad to see her friends go, but grateful that their no longer in pain, now allowing her the chance to fully move on as well

Until…

2014/Pizzeria Sim- William managed to survive but Henry, now out of prison due to being blamed for Williams crimes, sets out to take em out once and for all.

Gaining the aid of Michael Afton, who’s been hiding away from the world for decades, but also aiding a detective and former employee of Freddy fazbears, Jeremy Fitzgerald, with strange cases relating to Freddy fazbears

Things go pretty much the same way they do as canon,

But ending with Jeremy finding Abby and trying to get her and him to the pizzeria after Jeremy discovers Henry’s plan and realizes michael is in danger,

Not knowing that Henry plans to trap michael there as well to burn away everything

But they get there too late and the place is already burning down, leaving michael dead and Abby grieving.

Abby ends up getting ownership of the fazbear brand due to literally everyone else who could get it being dead

And instead of abandoning it, she decides she wants to use the opportunity to make something good out of this brand of tragedy

Leading into

2023/Security Breach- Abby is the ceo of fazbear entertainment and trying to run the place as well as she can at 40 years old.

Still mourning her brothers loss but otherwise happy with her life

What she doesn’t know but will get to discover is that michael is still around

Now possessing a certain very friendly, very odd, orange bear robot…

Now for fun facts about Abby!

•she was a grunge kid in her tweens-teens

•she met a girl named Jessica in college who eventually became her wife

•she didn’t get to see her father much due to her mom and then her brother wanting distance from him

•her father, when he did see her, referred to her as “his little princess” after a children’s book he’d read to her called “princess quest”

•she didn’t get to know crying child (or Evan in this) until she met him at Freddy fazbears possessing golden Freddy

•she didn’t get to meet Elizabeth until her soul briefly pleaded to her for help as she was fighting ennard. To this day, she’s still unsure if Elizabeth was simply tricking her or genuinely needed her help and it still bothers her.

Arc 6: You want a summary? Basically Season 3 Ep 1-2 but with SHIT ton of more lore.

Arc 7: The gang try to find a way to get the Samadhi Fire while Mathias is experiencing some HECTIC side effects from the mask.

Arc 8: The Amnesia episode to the Lantern,to the ritual, basically nearly half of Season 3, were close to Season 4 and nearing my favorite arc that I’ve been planning for a while. So buckle up people.

While looking at various Welcome Home AUs I thought-

It’s basically Left 4 Dead but if almost every Human or puppet survives and the city ain’t gonna be blown into oblivion. And yes, puppets living alongside humans is a thing in this AU. Almost everyone is either in hiding from the zombies or is fighting for their survival. Left 4 Dead zombies will also be in this AU so, yeah.

This does not mean I’m abandoning Welcome Home, I’m actually gonna put Welcome Home in the story. Other fandoms like Hello Puppets! Will also be in this AU, but that will also mean I will have to make an AU for them to give some context of what will happen in the story so bare with me. 🍄 Well when we started out, we had a lot of people associated with birds. Emyr’s a corvid, Lerian’s a heron, Strix and Stolas are owls, and although Strahd isn’t a bird he’s heavily associated with ravens. The birds are no longer the majority (now it’s the fnaf fictives), but the name stuck since that’s just what we call ourselves. It’s a historic name.

🎨 Yep, it’s a fun way to pass the time! We draw very slowly though so we rarely finish works. We’re currently drawing our Flight Rising dragonsonas- the dragons meant to look like us.

🥀 It used to be pretty picky, only taking one or two characters from a given source, but recently it just split five characters at once to “complete the set” so??? Idk

🦖 VERY fictive heavy. Our brain latches onto relatable characters easily so that’s why it prefers interjecting fictives over factives or making up its own people. We have a few non-introjects, and no factives.

🎵 Well, any song associated with them. I know that’s a bit of a cop-out but it comes to mind when we have characters from musicals who have their own numbers about them!

But aside from that, people will relate to songs unrelated to their sources. Like Pure Vessel really relates to End-World Normopathy. There’s so many lines I could use to explain why it relates to that song so well but I think this is the most blatant:

Sounds a lot like “No mind to think, no will to break, no voice to cry suffering.”

Our headmates also sometimes make their own song playlists of any songs that speak to them or that they enjoy.

❓ We share memories but the trade off is that our shared memory is super shit and foggy. We all remember events just as well as any other, but we’ll barely be able to tell you anything about it unless you prompt us. It’s really annoying, but could be worse ig.

🪐 It’s a little village, with a park in the middle with a stone path and a fountain. This fountain is the dead center of headspace and actually the first thing imagined about it, with everything else being formed around it.

Our front room is its own building, close to the park. It’s pretty basic inside, just some furniture to sit/lounge on and a screen to watch the outerworld from.

Outside the village is mostly forest, but Strahd plonked his castle on a nearby hill so it looms over everything else.

I think there’s a beach nearby.

There’s also a cave full of crystals that can be used when people willingly attempt dormancy, and it turns them into a stone statue.

🍐 LOTS of them. We only have 7 human headmates, though that number increases by 4 if you include headmates who are formerly human but aren’t anymore (in all cases it’s due to dying and becoming something else, like a demon, ghost, or vampire). Everyone else is not a human.

🌧️ We have a bad habit of just avoiding shit that stresses us out until it goes away on its own, which isn’t great because the shit doesn’t get resolved. If we HAVE to we’ll get one of our more responsible headmates to be confrontational and resolve things.

🔦 Emyr was studying for finals one year of college and realized that the voice in his head taking to him wasn’t his own. That was Strahd.

🌟 All the time. People like Dipper and Pure Vessel are really good at helping with work that requires focus (which is hard for our adhd). Dipper’s a nerd and enjoys that kind of work, while Pure Vessel is good at pushing distracting thoughts out of its head to press on with work.

In an emergency (like we can’t focus and NEED to get something done asap) the robot (unnamed headmate that rarely shows up) will take front. It has very limited emotions so it WILL get things done because it genuinely doesn’t care about doing anything else.

Link seems like he’d be good with physical work. As a soldier he’s trained to ignore physical discomfort and just keep going.

🌊 Emyr and Michael are considered our hosts. Past that, it’s not very consistent who fronts a lot and it’ll vary over time.

🎁 Yeah, all the time- mostly plushies because we like those. Mimic has its tiger plush, Evan has his “Fredbear” plush (actually Golden Freddy bc the Fredbear one was limited run so we missed him :(), and Michael once stole a rabbit plush for his sister Vanessa. She was annoyed at him for doing that but she really appreciated it.

☘️ Media we enjoy, so a lot of fantasy genre stuff since that’s usually what we’re into. Also yeah, we enjoyed Hazbin Hotel- but we’re not gonna act like it’s perfect. We actually love critiquing it and discussing its flaws, that’s fun for us.
