A little bit on Charon's Origins:

From: A compound that boasts it has the best "hired guns" available. A lucrative and well-known business with a reputation for providing loyal, unnervingly obedient operatives for prices too steep for the average wastelander. The fighters are supplied by raising children in an intensely resource-competitive culture.

The compound children, to some success, are given shelter and protection from danger outside of the compound. Combat training and education (which is mostly propaganda and manipulation) is compulsory. The children that survive the brutal system long enough are assigned to an individual - henceforth known as their "Employer" - who oversees the last chapter of their education and turn them into ideal bodyguards. Their methods are high-risk to their wards, but it comes with a record of satisfying their wealthy customers.

Children, generally ones that compete well and show the most potential, are entered into a database where the most discriminating of customers can (for a large sum) select and alter the education of their choosing. Ultimately, so that the buyers can shape the temperament or skillsets of their future bodyguards.

Young orphans are common in the wasteland, and though accepting the compound's deal meant certain despotic rule, many such orphans traveled there to take those odds rather than face the wasteland on their own. These only make up one source of the children ranks.

Charon was raised here. Defiant, difficult to break, exceptional marksman.

Charon was selected by a de-thawed pre-War big shot executive, from a bunker nearby. Learned of the Compound from a neighboring vault that does trade with the compound. These trade-deals sometimes included the promise of viable children for one of their "hired guns". Vault dwellers understood the appeal of having someone competent and ruthless watching one's back in the wasteland, and they had to leave to upkeep their vault. They shared that sentiment with the Exec, who was allowed to remain at that vault until their bodyguard's graduation and purchase of contract.

There were several mandates by Charon's would-be employer as he was being educated at the compound. The Exec (we'll call em for now) wanted someone who, if asked to speak around the Exec's peers, would be well-mannered and formal, so Charon was provided tutoring for this between combat training. He was also given an expensive supply of medications for growth enhancement and stimulants.

Charon's employer was also an audiophile; had an impressive collection of holotapes, accounting for Charon's taste and appreciation for music.

Charon's ghoulification was a direct result of orders followed by the Exec. The command urged him into radiated danger.

The thing about gordon is that like everyone tends 2 write him being kind of shy and demure and awkward and like. Not really enjoying his job but like. this motherfucker WANTED to work at Black Mesa. Like he was so excited about it. didnt he canonically take the job because he was bored .

everytime i think about ex!bakugo, i get so emotional thinking about how he carries on with his day-to-day like the breakup didn’t happen.

he doesn’t even give himself time to mourn the relationship, to process the loss of you. he throws himself into work, practically drowning in it because he can’t bear staying idle.
