Artcatto Gallery Revisited
I have just returned home from a twelve-day holiday in Spain and Portugal and once again when I was in the Algarve I visited the town of Loulé and went to one of my favourite small galleries, Artcatto, one which I featured in September 2022.  There was a new selection of outstanding contemporary art, and in this blog I will concentrate on work by three of  the artists. Voka Voka at work in his…

if the painting is up for sale, it's liable for copyright infringement in the united states. the most relevant cases are roger v. koons (1992) and morris v. thierry guetta (2013). while people have their own opinions about the merits of u.s. copyright law itself, if this guy is a professional artist selling his work he should know that that painting is definitely not transformative enough (really not transformative at all) to not be considered in violation of copyright law.
Thanks, so how do you think about the question before your one...

5. nap alkohol nélkül, a veszélyes emberkísérlet in progress.

Ps. Banksy = Thierry Guetta? A tegelő, falfirkáló grafittis banda vs. street art vitához (Robbo vs. Banksy - Graffiti War) csak annyit tennék hozzá, hogy King Robbo nemcsak egy ostoba, prosztoproli vandál, hanem kurva is, aki egomániás, nárcisztikus (male ego and damage) elveit feladva Banksyhez hasonlóan az első adandó alkalommal eladta azt a büszkén riszált rosszfiú seggét .

Exit Through The Gift Shop
The Major point of the film “Exit Through The Gift Shop” is to showcase street art and its authenticity. The film explores meaning behind art that some might see as work with no meaning to it. The film opened my eyes to the idea that every piece of art has a detailed reason behind it. Prior to the film and even at the beginning of it, I felt like a lot of what was going on was useless. Specifically, when they were in DisneyLand it felt like they were just being troublemakers or trying to start a problem for no reason. I agree with and support the creator of the film. What was conveyed is something that we as people do not get to see often. It was raw, real, and relatable even as someone who would not cinder themselves as an artist. The most compelling section of the film was the backstory of Thierry Guetta’s mother’s death. Hearing him say “Ever since then I find it important to capture everything” truly touched me. It never occurred to me that many artists capture moments or create work that seems like it has no meaning or is random. It was great to see an artist like himself open up about his past trauma and how he uses it to create art. You could tell that he still felt the pain like he had just found out the news of her passing. The less compelling part of the film was the part where they started an issue in Disney. It seemed pointless to me. I could not understand why they did it. Personally, I did not think that it was artistic in the slightest. People get scared when random things like this occur due to terrorism, mass shootings, and other awful events that occur in public places. If I could edit one thing out, it would be this scene. If I am being completely honest, it stressed me out and took away from the actual artwork. As an anxious person, I could only imagine the fear that not only those in the park felt, but how Guetta felt. Being interrogated for hours on end for something that you did not do must be horrible. You can tell that Guetta is a genuine person and artist that has been through a-lot in his life, that is what made the film what it was in my eyes.

Blog 4: Street Art
The film Exit Through The Gift Shop is a documentary that focuses on the culture of street art, as well as tells the story of a man named Thierry Guetta. It is directed by the famous street artist  Banksy. The first half of it shows how Thierry got immersed in the world of street art, and how he documented footage of some of the most influential street artists of the time. Some of the street artists that Thierry worked with were Space Invader, Shepard Fairey, and Banksy. Thierry had an obsession with filming everything, so he had convinced artists to let him film them by saying he was making a documentary, but that was not the case. Thierry let everyone believe he was making a documentary, but he never actually planned to show the footage to anyone.
The second half of the film focused on Thierry’s own foray into street art. He went by the artist name of Mr.Brainwash. It showed how he planned a massive debut show, in a very small amount of time. He spent all of his savings on becoming a superstar overnight. In the end, his show opening was a massive success, but they were still putting art pieces up to the very last second. He also had a very large team working for him, and making his art for him.
I found the documentary to be very entertaining. I never really knew much about street art before this film. I had heard about Banksy, and had seen the Obey branding, but that was about it. I loved seeing how street artists operated through Thierry’s footage during the start of the documentary. It was really cool to see something captured that often does not get filmed.
The second half of the film was very entertaining as well, but Thierry’s methods for his art were very disheartening to me. It was clear that his approach to art was very different from how those who pursue street art start out. He was focused on hype and money, and did not seem to care too much about the actual art he was making. After watching the film, I did some of my own research. I found that Thierry/Mr.Brainwash made his own version of Banksy’s famous Balloon Girl image.
Tumblr media
I found this recreation of Banksy’s work to be very unnerving. Looking at this remix of Banksy’s work felt like a ploy for money, rather than a piece of art, especially after looking at Thierry’s creative process in the film. Street art relies heavily on remixing, but there is something about Theirry’s creative process that makes this artwork feel more like stealing than remixing to me.

Mr Brainwash to Launch Battersea Power Station Show
Tumblr media
Mr Brainwash to Launch Battersea Power Station Show One of the world's most collectable and provocative contemporary artists, Mr Brainwash, flies from LA to London to launch his eagerly awaited, new exhibition at the restored Battersea Power Station on 25 April, opening to the public until 3 May.
Tumblr media
The pop art phenomenon - AKA Thierry Guetta - will make a personal appearance at the launch of the Clarendon Fine Art show; one of his most audacious yet, appropriating and reinterpreting the classics and offering his signature, subversive and playful takes on the modern world. The high impact and high value new collection is rich in styles and themes, including pop culture sculptures like Life is Beautiful, which became his catchphrase after his legendary LA exhibition of the same name catapulted him to fame in 2008, making history as the most highly attended private exhibition of all time with more than 50,000 visitors and artwork selling for six figures. The show will unveil large-scale statement pieces, brick artwork celebrating his street art origins, painted balloon sculptures, neon mirror artworks, "vandalised" frames liberating art from canvases, and paper originals deconstructing popular culture. Mr Brainwash will also be releasing two exclusive, limited editions, Long Live the King and Power to the People. Long Live the King commemorates the coronation of King Charles III and is the partner piece to the Platinum Jubilee Queen of Hearts editions, which are already being collected for double their original price. Power to the People is Mr Brainwash's bold, new depiction of the show's Battersea Power Station location, emblazoned with his graffiti, a Life is Beautiful neon and with nods to Pink Floyd's iconic Animals album artwork and Banksy, who directed the Oscar-nominated Exit through the Gift Shop documentary, charting Mr Brainwash's meteoric rise to fame. Like the French street artist, Battersea Power Station is larger than life and has been regenerated for the modern age, a concept which is close to his heart. The artist has a special connection to the iconic building and unveiled a giant mural there in 2021 to celebrate the launch of the Battersea Power Station Underground, which was accompanied by a large-scale light show on the Power Station itself and the unveiling of a Life is Beautiful sculpture. The mural is now on display inside the Grade II* listed building. After the London exhibition, the show will go on tour to Clarendon Fine Art's Birmingham and then Bluewater, Kent Galleries, both of which will feature Mr Brainwash in attendance, followed by week-long, public exhibitions. Clarendon Fine Art has been Mr Brainwash's exclusive UK gallery representative since 2020 and their CEO, Helen Swaby says: "His work is an orchestrated collision of street and pop art, built around messages of hope, that has challenged cultural norms and made him a global street art phenomenon. "We are excited about bringing Mr Brainwash back to a place with so much significance to him for this innovative riot of themes, styles, statements, jokes, commentary and chaos." After starring in Banksy's 2010 documentary, Mr Brainwash said: "Banksy captured me becoming an artist. In the end, I became his biggest work of art." Since then, Mr Brainwash has designed album covers for Madonna, Rick Ross and Michael Jackson, collaborated with everybody from Mercedes-Benz, the Beckhams, First Lady Michelle Obama - for her Let Girls Learn organisation - and Pope Francis for his Scholas youth foundation. And he is changing the face of street art in the UK with his unique brand of positivity.
+39 388 4366649). Ingresso libero.
