I have 2 actually! Here they r!

The first one is Agnis, who is a Hammerite guard. Nothing too fancy about her other than being a lesbian pagan in denial because she only joined the hammerites because she thought that’s what every self-respecting city dweller did according to her parents.

The second one is Athos. And man is he a doozy.

First off, he joined the Keepers because he was diagnosed with TB as a child, so they had to use glyph magic on him to stave off the disease because of no modern medicine n whatnot, and for plot fluff because thief doesn’t really go into that lore as far as I’ve seen so I’m improvising until further notice. He’s around the same age as Garrett, albeit somewhat younger. (So about mid 30s in Deadly Shadows at the very least given that Garrett is most likely in his late 30s by then) and is one of the first people that Garrett meets when he is ceremonially adopted into the Order apart from Artemus. They grow to become quick friends after an incident where Athos passes out when he officially becomes apart of the Order as an Acolyte because of a flare up of his TB that went unchecked. (He is around 12-13 at this point in time) Athos and Garrett knew of each other beforehand but didn’t really bother with talking all that much until this incident because of their own introverted tendencies.

During the events of TDP Athos becomes a fully fledged Glyph Warden/Scribe studying under Ruehan up until the events of Deadly Shadows, where Athos’ condition worsens again because of the difficulty that the Mechanists had brought on in TMA and the Rust Gas cleanup process, going to Orland, who dismissed him, thus finding himself in the clutches of Gamall who tricked him into burning a glyph onto his forehead and chest which was supposedly to help him banish the illness for good, but given that it was Gamall, slowly siphoned his life away to her to give her vitality. (This was promptly after Caduca’s death, as she had nobody to take the blame for Athos’ death if it happened anymore) By the end of DS when Gamall is finally found out, he is one of the victims that Gamall tries to siphon life from and petrify, until Garrett was able to stop her in time, which permanently causes him to be partially stone due to Gamall actively siphoning life from him via the glyphs he had from treating his illness and being tricked by Gamall in the first place when Garrett finished the ritual. (Because despite glyphs being gone, deities and other creatures could still have prevalence in the world, especially when magic could exist in a different form now that the keepers continue to exist/are rebuilding.)

Now Athos leaves the Keepers after Orland attempts to detain him out of fear that he might be the next “big threat to the keepers” due to the prophecies and text being omitted, taking the role of master thief now that Garrett assumes responsibility as the One True Keeper.

also Garrett and Athos lowk had a thing going on between all this but Garrett being Garrett was like “uh how about no actually. I have better things to do.” And Athos is also FTM because I like trans allegories and the fact that Athos was siphoning life away due to a curse made by an evil woman in the hopes that he might be free from something just screams internal/external transphobia issues to me.

garrett, the main character of the thief trilogy, is such a funny version of the chosen one trope. he's in all the prophecies and central to stopping all the big almost-apocalypses but he never attains notoriety or power. by deadly shadows he'd saved the world twice and no one gives a fuck. almost no one knows. guards try to murder him on the street for being a petty criminal. pedestrians shoulder check him and call him a loser

he's a reclusive loner who never gets a plucky band of comrades. he has no friends. his fences betray him. the only person who ever really works with him or shows him any respect is viktoria (in metal age) who had previously betrayed him and ripped his eye out (builder forbid women do anything)

he complains about being swept up in apocalyptic events non stop and not in a reluctant hero or 'woe is my heavy burden of duty' way, but just kinda bitches and moans about it while doing it anyway. even when he gives in and commits to helping his general vibe is "is this what we're doing now? okay" and his goal seems to be getting it over with so he can get on with his life

in the third game he finds a journal written about the downfall of the previous game's antagonist whom he destroyed (with the help of viktoria who really hard carried that mission with the treepocalypse thing and spare supplies while garrett spent 3 hours sitting on ledges waiting for twenty angry robots to de-aggro), and it attributes the victory to a religious cult's god

the handful of people who know what he did think he's a loser. and he IS a loser (affectionate) who thinks he's so cool and makes snarky quips to himself out loud while attempting to be stealthy. he is only one step removed from the kronk stealth scene in the emperor's new groove

One thief just lets himself to be caught as he knows he won't dance like that; one thief picks a never-aging apple from the Shalebridge Cradle, the one that he stole from this very place somewhere where children used to live separated.
