I don't have any well-thought-out theory about butterflies and ladybugs, but I want to talk about them:

Let's start with the butterfly, which most likely refers to the mutts in the arena, obviously. However, the butterfly also symbolizes transformation and rebirth. But oddly enough, the first thought that came to my mind — the butterfly effect. Because as we know from the video tapes (which could have been edited anyway), Haymitch used the force field (the capitol's power) to win in the end. An act of rebellion. He doesn't play by their rules.

which ultimately served as a possible trigger/idea for the rebellion against the capitol. Just like Katniss' berries - a small action in itself that led to the collapse of the whole system.

As for the ladybug, everything is more confusing. The first thing that catches the eye is 4 dots and the similarity with a dice. 4? Perhaps this is the number of tributes per district and/or winners of D12. It's also worth noting that the insect symbolizes luck, kindness, love. And these little creatures are also poisonous!!! which is interesting for the connection with snakes, songbirds and poison.

So, to sum it up, i have some separate thoughts about the general tone of the sotr but it looks like we're in for something more twisted and intriguing.

Haymitch every reaping

when katniss was talking about the reaping at the start of series, she stresses how it’s absolutely mandatory to attend unless you’re literally “at deaths door.” So i wonder what it was like, for haymitchs mother, an extremely pregnant teenage girl, who just managed to escape the reaping herself a year prior, to go into labor on that day. Having to worry about how you could potentially be punished if labor isn’t enough of an excuse to miss the reaping while going through the horrors of it; Knowing that two children from your community were once again ripped away, while you bring a new one into those horrors. And then, 16 years later, you have to watch as that same child marches off to his certain death, on the day of his birth.

so katniss was the narrator of her own story and now we know that haymitch will get that opportunity, as well. even peeta, rue, and prim (each of them being mockingjays in the own right) have their stories told through katniss, their fellow district citizen, somebody who truly knows and loves them.

but lucy gray—the first mockingjay, the first district 12 victor, the tribute who changed the hunger games forever—is the only mockingjay who doesn’t get to tell her story. she’s reduced to a side character in her oppressor’s rise to power. she was the mockingjay before the world was ready for her, before the “sunrise.”

and yes that’s incredibly devastating, but it’s also fucking remarkable. they thought they buried her, but her music refuses to die. they tried to erase her, but her voice fuels the revolution. against all odds, lucy gray lives on.

Haymitch Abernathy being just a silly, lazy, sixteen-years-old boy in SOTR is exactly what i needed. The poor man just wanted to hang out with his girlfriend on his birthday, Maaaaaaaaaa

-Haymitch was less mature than Katniss because his mother was actually a functional women and he could be a teenager instead of a small adult raising his little brother. He won’t be making life change realizations and quoting poetic stuff. He just wants to lay down all day in the woods and have a few kisses with his girlfriend
