i think that if we dig all the way down to the roots of tĂžp's musical theme, it all comes down to that constant internal conflict between desperately wanting to be seen and desperately wanting to stay hidden. we can see how they've been making gradual progress in "managing the tension" but it's still there on Clancy. dare i say it's the central theme of the lore as well.. the reason the character & the era Clancy feels so rebellious is because he's actively fighting to Be Seen. the oscillation continues, but a subversive variable has emerged.
#also i dont wanna make assumptions or be an intrusive creep but#i think its safe to assume that#tyler has been fighting this battle since he was a kid and he still is#based on the stuff he's said so far and the lyrics of course#and that fucking aches my heart because i get it im going thru it as well#i dont mean to say i get him 100% because that impossible but#i resonate with the lyrics he wrote sooo much it sometimes scare me even#like snap back......... it i s so s ad#and i know what that oddly specific melancholic euphoria they were tryna go for is#when i fully absorb that song#but at the same time the progress he and josh have made is so conspicuous too#it makes me cry from joy and relief#because while the steps may have seemed too small to make a difference#theyve come a long way to achieve this betterment#and it gives me/us/them hope that things will get even better in the future#why am i ranting and venting?? idk#i got sentimental while thinking too hard about their lyrics lol#anyways. thanks for coming if you read the tags this far#tĂžp#twenty one pilots#clancy#tyler joseph#josh dun#sorry for the typos i dodnt proofread

#the choices. the way maybe there would have been more possible outcomes for them if they chose differently#the way that they can literally never know nor should it matter because its not how it happened you made your#choices now you have to move forward with them. the kids who wanted to live in ooo being told to find the#magic and wonder of their own world and make their own world better. that weight of reality comes with conflict but that they can be fought#against. that ooo was a...... mostly peaceful place but that peace and wonder came from a long long time of horror#uncertainty and pain. and THAT was only established by the same uncertain work they have to do now.#that weeds are still plants and only weeds if you choose they are. the dandelion becuase theyve touched so many worlds#including the real one. the way it didnt get to grow and flourish by being stagnated and isolated#but how its relevancy is achieved when all members are given equal autonomy and drive#that its not a world of magic anymore but thats not better or worse and you just need to do your best with the hand dealt you. that isekai#is appealing but dont let it neglect making your own world better. was betty released from golb after fulfilling her wish to help simon?#who knows theyll probably never meet again in this life. the way this will be a cycle for simon. despair and depression giving way to hope#nights where hes desperate for the crown again only to find peace yet again.#fionna and cake spoilers#the fact that casper has his eyes covered because simon was blind to bettys greater needs#but that nova was a sun because even in not getting to pursue her own thing she was still happy and bright and that brightness blinded simon

Alpha kids and why I like them (AKA the loneliest kids in paradox space)
(Elaboration under the cut.)
To get the nitty gritty out of the way, I like the Alphas because they're so openly flawed and relatable as characters, yet incredibly talented and ambitious in their desire to achieve and succeed, even though they're doomed. They're doomed to never even come close.
Take a look at the starting of the Beta's session, versus the Alpha session. The beta session starts in spring, a season thematically connected to nature, new beginnings, change, and opportunity. Their story grants them the chance to change and grow and realise their full potential, of which they do with the help of the trolls. They are the heroes, they are the ones that will create a new world.
The Alpha session starts in fall, otherwise known as Autumn. It's fitting that it's called the fall, given it truly is. Fall symbolises the late stages of maturity, decline, decay, and death. Their story is not one of creating, of realising their potentials. They were told to wait. There was to be no positive growth, no positive development or true adventure and beginnings, the planets they inherited were barren, and with only each other as company, it put a strain on their relationships that broke them apart. They were never called heroes. They were called Nobles. Their session, their entire lives, were ruled by the VOID. Not BREATH.
Even their tools that we first learn of them using are thematically on par. The betas, with their alchemiter, create a retinue of cool things to use, upgrade their fraymotifs, so on. They create and thrive. The alpha session is given a gristwidget, to conserve and survive.
They struggle. Terribly. The one thing that was supposed to save them, to be the biggest thing in their lives, was a massive disappointment and year long wait with nothing that much going on. They struggle with seeming independent, never feeling like enough (again, the void) and their expectations were such a let down for what they all expected.
The game was supposed to be the time where they reunited, where mind you, they saw their LIFE LONG friends, and finally had the chance to grow and change with each other, but it fell first. To quote a buddy of mine.
youre telling me they were given horrible starts and the game that they were anticipating their entire lives ended up killing them and oh it started a downward spiral of the very bonds theyve spent so much working up to? to.. wait for better people to save you? fuck my life man.
They resonate me because they have such high expectations for themselves and refuse to communicate because of that, because for so long they've been doing it on their own it becomes genuinely hard to talk about the things that suck. There's a VOID separating them all, whether it's Janes VOID in knowledge, the VOID that Roxy handles by indulging in underage drinking, the VOID of Dirks heart, splintering and constantly plaguing his thoughts, or the VOID that Jake has to struggle with as he borders on knowing, and being willfully ignorant if it means he can be comfortable. There is a VOID. A VOID separating them from their friends, from their achievements, and their potentials.
It's so hopeless. Their aspects, their themes, their stories and relationships, they're never enough, it's a struggle of not being enough. Do you know what it's like to finally make a change and oh, it turns out it's going to be debilitating to you? You get your big break and.. it's not it.
Their expectations crashed on the shores of opportunity and they could only watch and wait for their ancestors, who they never got to truly know to save them. The true heroes. Even their alpha versions were defined as heroes, adamant on fighting the condesce and bringing her down. They were never shown as human beings, they were yet another expectation to hold themself up to and aspire to be, which they could never surmount to.
They struggled to amount to something in their lives and they fell short. They became for the most part worse versions of themselves, and they blamed themselves terribly for it. Their moment isn't a rise, it's a fall. Everything just got worse. They're stuck with that feeling of insecurity, of inadequacy, that void, because they couldn't do what they needed to do as well as their dancestors, the kind of "I know we were doomed to fail and there's nothing we could've done to change it, but I feel like we are lesser for not finding a way."
The guilt that the betas had to go for YEARS to get a happy ending, and they didn't break as much as the alphas. The betas seem so much stronger than the alphas in a "if THEY could handle it, couldn't YOU GUYS handle it?" way, but it's not about which group had it harder, it's different. The alphas had so much bullshit happen, more than the betas, because they didn't really have the exposure to outside world that told them "hey you shouldn't always hold yourself to such high expectations constantly it will do a number on you if you expect so much from yourself and your peers." but it didn't exist.
The betas didn't grow up in shattered worlds. Maybe they grew up in households that weren't intact, but it was never the same level as the alphas, not even close. The alphas were broken from the start, in time, in space, in beginning. A VOID. They're so unbelievably tragic for that.
And the saddest most tragic part is. We don't see them change for the better. We see them *come to terms* with their flaws, but in ways that are detrimental in the long run, it's almost fitting that the only one that adjusted for the better was Roxy, Rogue of Void, and even then she indulges as soon as she's given a chance to do so. Because it's hard to grow up and change your ways. It's hard to grow up and change and grow and nobody really understands.

ok i watched hotd ep 10 here are some of my thots
SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
from what I heard I expected a shitshow but it really wasnât that bad lmao maybe Iâm just a show apologist but. idk i enjoyed it overall not the worst episode by any means. maybe with less questionable choices than ep 9 I havenât thought about it that long um anyway. miscellaneous thoughts (out of order im just writing down what comes to mind)
again from what Iâd heard I was worried about what theyâd do with rhaenyra like. people said she would be all like âuwu no fighting lets make peace I surrenderâ and thatâs. not what happened lol. I think her being more cautious makes sense in the show esp since they also made alicent less unhinged (which I do have some problems with but. whatever -_-)
that asoiaf title drop was kinda cringe tho sorry it felt so out of place. also I still dont know if I like the whole prophecy thing but it works way better when its used as a motivation to try to not explode everything than a âoopsie silly misunderstanding itâs war timeâ plot device lol
i can smell the twitter daemyra (or whatever the ship name is) stans seething from here but honestly. thank fuck theyâre not making it a uwu domestic wholesome romance like this is a guy and his niece that he groomed it should be toxic and fucked up
ok questionable moment n.1 what was the purpouse of the whole vermithor thing lol. doesnt ruin the story or anything its just kinda. there. like what was daemon trying to achieve idk. good to see another dragon i guess tho. could have used the budget for sunfyre and dreamfyre instead but whatever
speaking of dragons arrax was prettyyy. from what i could see anyway lol i definitely need to rewatch at least the dragon scenes when it comes out in better quality. anyway nice colors rip gamer girl #2
they put in aemondâs silly little sapphire eye <3333333333333 looks great 10/10 thank u hbo for his anime villain swag babygirl is soo deranged all the time again i heard people complaining about him but idk heâs fine to me heâs still insane and extra <3
ok so The Scene. the big change. the kinslaying opsie. Iâm honestly not sure how I feel about it yet Iâll have to think about it a bit more but. maybe its bc I expected it to be worse but I dont hate it I guess. I dont like how theyâre turning so many things into accidents and misunderstandings but this is the least bad one imo. Idk honestly I expected vaghar to just. do the thing completely unprompted and thatâs not exactly what happened so. the bar was on the floor but congrats for jumping over it i guess.
tldr still havent made up my mind about it but as far as questionable choices theyve done a lot worse lol
uh thatâs it for now i guess I just typed this out as soon as i watched it so maybe ill have more to say later who knows
#.txt#hotd spoilers#hotd leaks#hotd 1x10#are those the tags i should use idk#well there's a readmore but just to be safe#this is the most ive said about any episode lol @ anon who wanted my opinions this is for u#if I made typos or I sound incoherent. No I didnât â€ïž

I like your Ghost pictures~ Do you have any pointers for beginners? ;w;
first, thank you!
second, this is gonna be kind of a boring and very long winded answer so buckle up LOL
get a feel for things first before worrying about getting high end supplies. i mean it. if you do digital, you absolutely do not need a $3000 display tablet and a photoshop license to get good. i used to use a mouse or cheapy huion tablet and mspaint/online oekaki boards to do everything before eventually moving on to a display tablet and programs like photoshop. if you're going traditional, dont even worry about artist grade materials. i actually would recommend using something you can get for cheap and in bulk because you'll probably be going through a lot of it. when i was first learning, i used mechanical pencils or regular ol wooden or charcoal pencils and pads of recycled newsprint. it's fine! if people make fun of your cheap supplies, just beat em up! it's what i did!
like every other answer for questions like this, i'm gonna say learning the basics before focusing on style and content will help you the most. it'll make it wayyy easier later on. you dont have to be a pro at anatomy or realism and you dont have to know the names of all the bones and muscles but knowing at least the basic structures helps a ton.
USE REFERENCES!!! theres this line of thinking that never using refs makes you "better" or that it's cheating but that isnt true and i've found that most instructors will even yell at you if you refuse to use them LOL. a lot of really skilled artists who can get away with not referencing are able to do so because theyve already built up their mental library and understand anatomy/foreshortening/etc, which you can achieve through studying and referencing.
if you see a cool pose or something else that catches your eye or whatever, save it. comic/manga panels, pro photographs, stock images, anatomical diagrams, movie screenshots, save everything. i love references. i hoard them like a magpie:
Try figure drawing! You can do it online pretty easily but i find it hard to do from a screen. ask people around you if you can draw them. draw your mom. draw your cat. doesnt have to be anything special, learning how to draw relaxed and casual forms is just as important as dynamic ones. some places offer live model drawing sessions which i prefer but for online sessions i use posespace and sketchdaily (careful, there's naked people in there). another good resource is vishopper.
if you need help learning figure drawing and proper techniques, check youtube. searching "intro to figure drawing" yields some good results but i mostly really like this guy, Richard Smitheman. He has several lessons posted and he's really in depth and clear in the way he breaks down the figure.
actually I check youtube for EVERYTHING. watching speedpaints, draw streams, and tutorials takes up most of my youtube viewing time and i often have them on in the background no matter what im up to. if im trying to learn, i tend to go for people who are more professorial and am hesitant to recommend "art hacks" style videos.
looking at tons of different art is really helpful when it comes to figuring out how you want to render or construct figures. wikiart.org is my best friend and i push it on EVERYBODY.no matter how you draw or what style you're going for, it's always helpful to look at a variety of other artwork so you dont stagnate
developing a habit of drawing makes it much easier to strike gold as opposed to drawing solely when inspiration strikes, but still remember to take breaks, dont force yourself into burnout, and dont be afraid to delete your art if its just not working out

i really love how dmc approaches the relationship between human and demonic selves, especially in the light of it acting as contrast to how regular, average people struggle to accept parts themselves, the beautiful, the ugly, the parts that are both. dante has the most development simply bc he's the longest running protag of the series but also he's had games entirely dedicated low-key to his developing relationship and eventual acceptance of his human and demonic sides, even tho i think his are more clear cut (dmc1 & dmc3) meanwhile nero (dmc4 & dmc5) and vergil (dmc5) have more subtle and almost cramped development in a way
[ranting abt dante, vergil, & nero's character development throughout the franchise under the cut bc this also got rlly long,,,]
dante is interesting post dmc3 just bc he's both written 2 b a continuous character w no real conclusion to his character in order to continually write him into dmc games and content, BUT he still reaches SOME conclusions to character arcs in dmc1 and dmc3, and afterwards we see how those conclusions have aged with himâ aged is the important word there, because changes in dante's character are both from the perspective on nero (his villainous aura at the beginning of dmc4) and the simple fact that where a lot of characters don't actively age and mature the same way real people do, in video game media especially, dante DOES and this changes how we would expect him to react in games liek 4 and 5
i think part of the reason the dynamic between vergil and dante has shifted by dmc5 is not only bc of vergils speedrun development in the same game, but also because you could reasonably say that while vergil expects a fight w him similar to their past fights, you could argue he is also a little bit unsettled with how dante's changed in the time theyve been separated. because despite how they tend to mirror each other as children and their journey thru dmc as a franchise can be framed as the same One character put thru different yet similar traumatic events, vergil even remarks about it at the top of the qliphoth, that difference here is that by dmc4 and DEF dmc5 dante has evolved past that where vergil is just beginning to really see it.
dante has had the time to process it. he went thru all this development years ago. it's had time to sit with him and age and ferment. dante is now tired, almost apathetic. he's disinterested with life and the cards he's been dealt with. at least in dmc4 and between dmc1 and 4, the anime too, he was sort of. rueful and upset about it? but he's seemed to move past that at this point. he is a character who has done everything there is to do. there is nothing and nobody who can challenge him, and even the concept doesn't catch his full attention. vergil is a trigger topic, it sets him off instantly, probably because vergil is the only constant in his life that will live as long and is as impossibly stubborn as dante is.
he doesn't chase vergil because he's necessarily hurting people with the dmc5 red grave massacre or trying to end the world in some great fashion and dante will have fun or at least get a thrill from defeating him or dying tryingâ cutting thru urizens forces are a pain in the ass and a waste of time. he wants the main course. he wants to be done with it. not to say he wouldn't have fun fighting, but he doesn't get the thrill he does when he's younger anymore. he wants to end their feud, seeming to be with the intention of making up with him even if he's come to terms with vergil's pride being what will force dante to kill him in the end
fighting with vergil in the underworld afterwards, having someone like him to keep him company, to share those experiences with, it's everything he needed and more i think. the repairing of their relationship, the new partner in a life none can truly relate to. i mean, both brothers treat nero like a child, he's the closest either of them can get to someone who understands, but nobody will understand truly like they will
vergil meanwhile, decides very young that power is all he needs and it will solve all his problems. and you know, at the time maybe it does. but eventually, when forced to admit it isn't, when put between dante and more power despite it being a hollow motivation, he chooses power and the end of dmc3 to the events of dmc1 happens.
dmc5 is unique in that v is forced to retrace vergils steps. they're put through the same paces: he is put in a position of fear after his 'birth', he chooses life, and then goes hunting for power to keep himself alive afterwards. but not only does he have his familiars to balance him out in a way vergil never had (and that dante has in trish and lady,) but his demonic tendencies can't overwhelm him, he has room to grow and accept and come to realizations he can only reach as a clear headed human. he is able to actively use empathy and sympathy, even against his will. he realizes that power isn't everything. that the atrocities he's committed in the name of his own growth in power are just that, atrocities. that he feels regret for what he has done. that he wants to find away to atone for those actions.
he is forced to accept the strengths and weaknesses of his humanity, but also the same coin's other side, the horrible things he's done in the past, the horrible things his demon self is currently doing unchecked, and v resolves to change that even at the cost of his human outlook, even at the gravity of his actions being leveled against vergil in all their horror. he learns to accept that part of himself, both parts, everything bad he can commit with his two hands, but also with nero, nico, his familiatr, the good that can be done. the weeds that can fight to grow through the cracks.
nero spends dmc4 learning how to be a demon. hes force to learn how to deal with and manage his demonic changes. for a few weeks he has his demon arm, when he previously believed himself to be entirely human, and is then forced to come to terms with his yamato trigger and all the changes that brings. he even promises to himself, having grown up on a hyper religious island that loathes demonkind and reveres sparda, that even if humanity learns to hate him and fear him, he will still stick to his steadfast morals, his drive to achieve his goal of saving kyrie and greater fortuna. i also think a lot of dmc4 is nero becoming comfortable with his true nature. he comes into himself in dmc4 as a mouthy, demonic-warped demon hunter with a bad attitude in contrast to the bored, slightly tempered teen who broods in church even as kyrie attempts to wrangle him at the beginning of the game
dmc5 i think is nero's human game in the sense that he's forced to relearn how to be human. he spends five+ years as a demonic freak of nature, powerful on an island of human people with no demonic power. he's downright untouchable. after losing his bringer and his powers, he's forced back to square one, human again. i think dante believes nero is deadweight in the sense that nero is weak again, without any kind of demonic power and will get himself killed easily fighting urizen despite his hybrid resilience that still lingers. nero is angered by thisâ by his weakness, by the fact that he promised dante to keep the yamato safe and had it stolen from him, by his lack of agency. dante wasn't even going to tell nero, v, some random-ass goth, had to fetch him. he feels he isn't enough anymore, and dante's words are poorly timedâ they sting particularly hard i think, considering he is nero's only unofficial family at the time, and family is his soft spot.
i also think nero coming to terms with vergil and dante being his father and uncle respectively takes up a lot of this arc of hisâ he is forced to grapple with what family means to him, what he is willing to do for family, when his only relationship with family has been his experiences as an orphan with strange white hair and a bad attitude in fortuna of all places, fostered by kyries parents who seemed to only take a liking to him at first for how much he resembled the Saviorâą. kyrie and credo were his only family after they died, and it's kyrie who reminds him of his own beliefs, in his own love and stubborn, headstrong dedication and determination for the well being of his found family, even as that found family suddenly includes actual blood family. he also has to try and understand dante and his perspective, who hid this from him. maybe out of fear of disappointing him, maybe out of concern of how he would take it, maybe because he thought nero was better off with the family he found than with the knowledge of how much bloody weight he carries, the heavy history of their family, didn't want to give that weight to him.
nero sort of learns here that seemingly good people do bad things for the right reasons. sometimes bad people do bad things because they think it's the best of the shitty choices. sometimes bad and good people just don't exist, and there's no good choice. he learns unwavering forgiveness, unconditional and true. all of these lessons he's lost between dmc4 and 5
#OR MAYBE IM TALKIN OUT MY ASS IDK IM JUST GOING BRAINDEAD ABT DMC LATELY#dmc#devil may cry#dante#vergil#nero#ryan speaks#ryan writes#this is for mikey and mikey only

I dont know who to tell this to i almost sent part of this as an ask to a minecraft blog but held off because i didnt want to bug them but u h THE DOMINANT SPECIES OF MINECRAFT THERE ARE 4 OF THEM
NUMBER ONE IS YOU THE PLAYER OBVIOUSLY
The player is the newest to the minecraft world and yet at the same time the oldest. In terms of the world you create when you click âcreate worldâ you are the newest. Youre dropped in an unforgiving world which has already been inhabited by smart creatures and is filled with undead versions of them, and fellow players like yourself. (Zombies/Skeletons, Zombie Villagers, and Zombified Piglin). But the player is also the oldest. Theyve been there since the beginning. They control how the world is created. They chose when in the worlds evolution (updates lol) they exist in. They chose to add things to the worlds. (datapacks n mods) They are the newest to the WORLD they exist in, but they are the oldest in terms of the game they play.Â
NUMBER 2 OH BOY ITS VILLAGERS AND PILLAGERS BABEY
Theyre the second newest. Theyve been around a long time, theyve already got towns built long before the player arrives. As time passes they got smarter, got better jobs, built better houses. Some broke off to travel the world peddling (overpriced) wares. Some left for more malicious reasons and built giant mansions and towers to patrol from. They speak a different but similar language to the player, and theyve learned a bit from spending so much time with them. The player is.. wierd, destroying and stealing but also creating and saving them. They trust them. They trade with them. Whatever the case, the villagers have been there before the players but not before..
NUMBER 3 PIGLINS YEEHAW
But wait mj the piglins were just added like 2 weeks ago how are they the 3rd newst/2nd oldest ILL TELL YOU HOW my headcanons involve me reading the wiki for. forever. just going through as much as i can. Before villagers and emeralds there were pigmen and rubies. They had the same functions as villagers and were kind of just a stand in. But oh ho ho i like to think they were canon!! Long before the player, when the villagers were just starting to build camps, these guys controlled the world and they were greedy. They mined all the rubies up, they loved treasure and shiny things, and they left their mark on the world. Sure, some of the sunken ships and ruined temples are from villagers or older creatures. But a lot of those came from the pigmens reign. But at some point their greed caught up to them and they got banished into the nether. The ones who left hiding would be zombified quickly from the unforgiving conditions. But, as weve seen, the nether and overworld have started to mix. Things have started to come alive in hell. And so the piglins make their return. They do not trust you. The villagers were only getting started when they left the overworld, who is this guy who thinks hes incharge? But their greed has not gone away. When you barter with a piglin, you are not doing it out of trust. You are doing it because you have gold they want and they know you can get more for them. Once the gold runs out, you dont need to stick around. These were the guys who built the nether fortresses, but i dont think they built the bastion remnants, only took control of them. Those were built buy..
NUMBER 4 ??? HERE WE GO
Number 4 is. the hardest to describe. The two voices in the end poems? The ancient debris and bastion remnants, giant destroyed structures? the massive fossils of creatures passed? Those are all remnants of the first powerful species in this world. They could be gods, or they could just be really good at what they did. Im not sure which old structures the pigmen built and what Number 4âČs built, but i have a good feeling they made the strongholds because theyve been able to rip apart the void itself to return to the end. Maybe they were the ones who banished the pigmen to the nether, maybe they were gone before the pigmen came around. They definitely had control over all three dimensions. But theyve long since died out except for the two you hear talking about you. To be honest the game doesnt give much to help us figure out who these guys are, but anything ancient is probably from their era.Â
BONUS BECAUSE I THOUGHT OF THIS WHILE WRITING THIS POST: END PEOPLE
The endermen are smart. They have their own language, very possibly as many people on tumblr have talked about, telepathically spoken through their eyes. Which is why when you look at them both you and them get a big screech of confusing sounds and they get angry. Theyre confused and frightened. However, i dont think the end cities came around from shulkers and endermen as we see them now. Those are old old old. Access only opened up to them recently, until now theyve been lost in the void. My idea is that the endermen and Number 4 are related, maybe the endermen are descendants of the once powerful species or maybe they lived along side them. Either way, the fact the end poem happens when you defeat the Dragon and âfree the endâ according to the achievement means they did not like being under her control. Maybe she killed off all but the two ancients you hear in the poem and the endermen are under her thrall. Maybe the endermen have gotten warped into the creatures we see today by her. Where did she come from? I assume an egg like the one we win from defeating her, but where did that come from? Did the ancients have dragon eggs? Was she an experiment gone wrong? A force from the void the ancients had long since mastered and built their cities in, trying to regain control of the void? And if were talking about pigmen and rubies, we cant not mention the fact endermen used to have green eyes and pearls are green. Maybe the green eyes were from the era before the dragons influence corrupted the endermen and destroyed the ancient species.
THANKS FOR READING IF YOU READ THIS HUGE DUMP OF HEADCANONS I HAD TO GET IT OUT SOMEWHERE I LOVE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY AND FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR OWN HEADCANONS!!!!

i was just sent a post from the blog who must not be named it was a post reblogged from someone who ive added to my list of really bad people but one of the things that struck me was a tag i saw in the post
antis seek therapy
we do
we do seek therapy often to combat the trauma some of us have endured through being groomed and being abused we spend time on ourselves to heal we find ways to cope and enjoy life again after it feels like parts of ourselves have been ripped from us and broken and tainted and violated
we work to be comfortable again we work to feel like ourselves again we find things we love again we allow ourselves to enjoy media again
we are taught to stand up for our own levels of comfort and to take control of the space around us we are taught mechanisms to move forward and we are encouraged to help others and support others at least thats what my therapist of multiple decades told me
we all seek shelter in our own ways and many people seek it in media its literally what so many beetlebabes shippers claim to be doing like theyâre quote reclaiming some lost childhood thing unquote and yeah i think youre going about it in a terrible way that continues the cycle of pedophila and is normalizing it but thats not even what this is about right now this is about the blatant disrespect and inability to open your eyes to someone elses experience and story
so many antis are so uncomfortable with the content created by beetlebabe shippers myself included since its so similar to the material used to character veil up abuse me character veil down
we try to curate our spaces for that we say beetlebabes dni dont reblog dont put yourself in this space im making for myself but then people come in and call it gatekeeping and try to illustrate how someone is a bad person for not wanting exposure so pedophilic content like its absolutely baffling to me that people can state such a clear and simple rule and then people will whine and moan about it as if its oppression newsflash its not fucking oppression you whining slime mold being asked to not interact on the ground of pedophilia isnt fucking oppression read a book go outside and learn something anyway
people are entitled to have control over the space in which they occupy people have the control to remove people from their spaces its like ok weird metaphor but this whole ordeal with wearing masks in public spaces yes you may have the right to refuse to wear a mask and you have the right technically to harass service industry workers but the businesses that employ these workers also have the full right to not allow you in and to even remove you from the property free speech also comes with consequences this is such a simple principle like talk shit get hit metaphorically is basically the same principle
coming into someones space after they specified that that your content is something that makes them uncomfortable makes you a major asshole and also makes me think youre dumb and maybe cant read
all of that is bad enough
but to continuously berate someone and belittle their very real trauma all in the sake of you wanting to ship and post pedophilia is simply abhorrent it is truly vile behavior to come back multiple times is truly a disdainful act in my eyes and im sure im not the first person to feel this way
if youre close to people in the field of psychiatric medicine you should know better than to belittle someones trauma and as a csa survivor yourself you should have the compassion to respect someones boundaries
have you discussed this behavior with this psychiatrist husband of yours not the pedophilic stuff but this blatant disrespect and dismissal of someone elses trauma and the growth theyve achieved thanks to their therapy and counseling have you addressed this narcissistic holier than thou approach you have to discussing such serious issues with people because thats something that should be addressed along with your acceptance and tolerance and even romanticization of pedophilia in media
this is harassment and gaslighting in action folks nether receipts I hope youre taking notes because you clearly dont know what either term means and the fact that youve gone out of your way to promote this abusive behavior is yet another reason why people dislike you i canât tag you because youve finally taken the hint and blocked me so I see no point but you know who you are also people donât hate you because youre a woman they hate you because youre a pedophile anyway this isnt about you
back to the person im actually addressing
trauma is not an experience that is easy to read and apply to every person you yourself sourced years of trying to deal with what you went through who are you to dictate how long someone can feel pain for what theyve gone through who are you exactly to say whether or not if has been too long of a time for someones trauma to effect them you of all people should know that this shit doesnt go away it lingers and it grips you forever it doesnt matter if youâve been apart from it for ten days or ten years
in one sentence you belittled a person for still being effected by their trauma and then in the next stated that the battle is life long which is it which statement do you actually beleive because it seems to me you only seem to care about your own horrible self without taking this other person into account at all because their response to their trauma was to break the cycle and work to make his space safer for himself and i beleive that takes more courage and more strength to actively oppose what hurt you rather than let it become how you cope and it becomes something you reintroduce into the cycle by keeping the its all okay attitude alive
i do not usually do direct posts its not exactly my style but i am so disgusted by what i have seen and what has been shared with me that it would be a disservice to not alert as many people as i can about your behavior
for a closing statement i will quote you
quote i hope you find your way to it instead of wasting all of your time being afraid of pictures and words on a screen, and picking fights with people who harm nobody unquote
what the fuck so you think youre doing by coming back over and over to belittle trauma denounce treatment and all around be unpleasant and high and mighty thats fucking harming people you narcissistic fool
im sorry you were hurt that fucking sucks but that doesnt give your the right for one fucking second to come into someones space where it was specified that you were not allowed and proceed to harass them and belittle them like you have done
@soeur-tiame you should be ashamed of yourself
dont bother responding as ive shown before with that transmed guy i dont like to waste any more of my time on filth than i need to

bnha spoilers! LONG POST
just had to ramble somewhere (idve made it a read more but im on mobile lol sorry folks)
dabi shouldn't have talked about hawks murdering best jeanist in the video :/ if he didnt trust hawks then he shouldnt have trusted that he really killed best jeanist and now the public's faith is gonna be restored a lil bit when they see best jeanist is still alive
but!!! does this mean bakugou's hero name will be revealed soon? this arc just keeps on giving đđ
those double page spreads of touya using endeavour's special move!!!!!! how fitting, how beautiful, cinematic poetry, 10/10
shouto's tears as he yells to his father to protect the injured while he attacks with nejire đ a True Hero tbh
i hope we see more of natsu's reactions later on! as the person who touya came to, i wonder just how hurt he is
i wonder if that was really touya's jaw bone? i wonder what else it couldve been?? i really want to see how touya deteriorated from energetic precious bean to burning in a park, wanna see how bad enji really has been
it's always frustrating when the villains actually have good points :/ as much as theyre bad and the innocent people theyve killed and chaos theyve wrought makes them hard to redeem (if that's what horikoshi's gonna try to achieve?), i cant say i disagree with their motive and hero society definitely needs to Be Better (but murder is 100000% NOT the way to go about it)
that being said, it strikes me as interesting that dabi is clearly aware of this fact and is weaponizing his choice to be irredeemable just for the sole fact of bringing endeavour down, like this guy cant help but revolve everything around his abuser, and was 100p ready to die using prominence burn if it was gonna take out endeavour (and shouto, probably) along with him
i hope we hear more of hawks's story; it's no wonder endeavour was his hero if his father was a villain that got put away by endeavour... i also wonder how exactly it ties in with him being trained from a young age, and if the commission really is as bad as the fandom suspects it is
going back to what im wondering about possible villain redemptions--i cant help but feel like i want them to be redeemed, but id probably also be bummed out about it because twice never got that :( like id love it if touya somehow ended up back with the todorokis and reconciling with shouto and that enji really is Better and they can all heal as a family, but im also not sure i can see it ever going that way and that this whole series wont end with all the villains dying (except possibly spinner and toga, who are still young enough that them deciding to side with the heroes wouldnt be as surprising--if spinner could see that there are heroes with physical mutation quirks that use it for good, if toga sees that izuku and ochako are willing to give her a chance... in contrast, i really dont see how touya, who clearly has such a personal vendetta and literal burning hatred for his father (and probably shouto), could decide it might be okay to turn sides, and at most i see him making a life-sacrificing move to choose to protect his father and/or brother (and/or his other family members, mb esp natsuo) after having some sort of epiphany and realizing maybe he doesn't want then to die)
after all this though, im still the most sad about twice :((( i really wish he couldve lived and healed and been happy and joined society and i know his life is one of the whole points about hero society not being the paragon that it paints itself but still
and i bet hawks is never gonna get over the fact that he had to kill twice too :'(
anyways cant wait for the next chapter but it's gonna be two weeks ahhhhh but im living for the todoroki drama and i really hope bakugou's hero name comes within the next three chapters
#bnha#bnha spoilers#rei rambles#i dont think itll be ground zero honestly#as dope as it is i feel like it doesnt fit the whole thing when best jeanist telling him his hero name reveals the kinda hero he wabts to be#so mb it really will be kacchan?????#but can u imagine omf#haha hero society's future top three heroes going by over-familiar references to their first names#deku and kacchan and shouto the top three pro heroes

âš7TH HOUSE SHADOW WORK (PART ONE)âš
-----------------------------------------------------
DISCLAIMER: Depending on your level of integration, you may not relate to these descriptions of the signs. Without integrating the sister sign, there are deficits in the personality. As we integrate our sister signs' qualities, we tend to relate better to the world.
------------------------------------------------------
âšaries: energetic and forceful mars rarely allows others to influence you or "impress" upon you. it guards you with its fiery armor against absorbing too many perspectives-- and rightly so! people who juggle too many perspectives always vaccilate and diffuse their energies! it can feel like a betrayal to you when someone is always taking the middle-ground. a warrior has to attach to its goal, or they die! so why are so many fools getting the jump on you? whats up with those "certain people" who get under your skin and drive you mad? how do they charm you and expose you so easily? its their ability to "drink in" your perspective. they allow themselves to be impressed upon by you, but they use that data like an artist. yeah, their energy is diffuse, and thats why you are so easily drawn into them, like everyone else. you may be jealous of people who are charismatic and very liked. aries can be popular and well-liked too, but its usually because your audience is compatible with your forceful energy-- or they like you despite it! but venusians win hearts, and relationships, because they make room for others in their psyche. can you make room? or does it feel like obliteration?
âštaurus: you see no need to rennovate your entire personality. youve carefully crafted yourself and your surroundings, based on what you think is beautiful, and valuable, and conserves the most energy. you dont have time to constantly deconstruct and rebuild yourself. even though you want to improve in some areas, you won't throw the baby out with the bath water. after all, you have earthy goals to achieve. youre comfortable in your skin and your rituals work for you, because theyre tailored to your delicate sensual nature. you dont want to be ruffled, or hurried, or over-stimulated. thats why those "certain people" irk you so much. theyre always trying to penetrate your exterior and reveal these deep truths about you. whats their angle? why do they want to unravel you? it feels like they just want to tear you apart, and then be the ones to put you together again. it feels like a power play-- and furthermore, it sounds exhausting. you dont need to expose the deep dark motivations inside you. youre doing just fine because you march steady and refined toward your goal. thats why youre confused when people say youre oblivious. when people confide in you, and you dont investigate the secret longings of their hearts, and the bitter past that forged them, they say they feel unseen. you want someone around because theyre "valuable", but when you dont merge with their inner world, youre treating them like an object. you prefer to build trust slowly. you notice that a person repeatedly respects your boundaries, so you let them in. but intimacy demands something deeper. they want to know that the deepest and most vulnerable parts of themselves are safe with you. are they? are their deep and messy hearts safe with you? or they just your "objects"?
âšgemini: youre like a surfer, arent you? it doesnt matter what the current is doing, as long as it gives you that wave! that moment of excitement and freedom! i mean, obviously you study the water, and know which waves will give you the most thrill, and you can probably anticipate when a good wave is coming-- or maybe you dont surf, but, you treat information this way. you know the people who have the best stories. you can sniff them out, you're drawn to them, and you know how to stay engaged with them-- until you don't want that anymore! until then, you download everything you can learn, to redistribute to others later. youre a fabulous messenger. collecting fascinating knowledge, person by person, media by media, and re-telling them in glib and colorful ways, is what maintains your excitement and thrill. your heart adores networking, and you love being at the center of the web you weave-- but then you meet those self-righteous types. those "certain people" who have actually been on journeys. they don't swim in the same surf, waiting for waves. they dont collect stories and glimpses of experiences. they arent messengers. they venture into the unknown themselves, for their own experience or vocation or belief system. these people know themselves. theyre the blunt types who scare people away sometimes. "but those people might've had good stories!" you cry. you hate their candor and their self-righteousness, but you cant help that you love their stories the most. theyre so knowledgable, like a teacher or guru. they may even make you jealous, because they arent just telling stories-- theyre telling experiences. they make you want to go on a journey and have an experience too! you want their self-knowledge and expanded worldview-- but, that would require that you choose a direction. it would mean starting your own story, and commiting to it step by step, rather than waiting in the surf for a thrill. which direction lies your story? can you devote yourself to it?
âšcancer: youve seen the world outside and its scary. everyone is so changeable, and they all want something from you. they all have angles-- but you know who didnt have an angle? mother. she didnt need anything from you, she just adored you and held you and fed you yummy meals and listened to you sympathetically. she would never exploit you. she only wanted the best for you. or, maybe your family wasnt like that, so you built your private world around that loss. you save the photographs of being unloved, and insulate your heart with familiar, emotional security. your pets and plants love you unconditionally, and so do your friends. actually, you make sure that every person in your life is "safe", which is why you tested them and only slowly let them in. you approached sideways, indirectly, but eventually the faithful made it into your den, where you adore each other and feed each other and protect each other's secrets. you take their photographs and hang them in your private world, and you pray to the moon that you dont hurt you or leave you one day, like the others. when the others left, it was too painful to put into words (even though you tried) and you continue to build your private world around that loss. so the scariest people are the insensitive people. those "certain people" who arent ruled by their feelings and they operate exclusively in the public world. whats so good about the public world? sure, you play in the system to give yourself security, but why bother being ambitious when the private world is so much safer? these people are disciplined and want to master the outside world, and even though you feel unnerved by them, theyre sensible providers of security, and security has always appealed to you. theyre brave and stoic on the outside, because they wear the mask of courage to provide for their families-- like an archetypal father. sure, theyve suffered, but their suffering and failures are what galvanizes their self-respect, and motivates them to try again. their resilience appeals to you, draws you like a magnet, but you resent their emotional strength because it makes them seem insensitive. but in order to accomplish our goals in the world, we have to be disciplined, put our feelings to the side, and be willing to fail. are you brave enough to climb the mountain? can you approach the world directly? the public world can be a scary place, but when you have courage and a wish in your heart, it makes for better photographs.
âšleo: your heart is a stage, and your beloved audience loves your warmth and glamor. youre so talented, so dignified, and you have that accessible "older sibling" aura that wins people's hearts. basically youre blessed, and your heart soars whenever you receive applause. like a good actor, people dont always know the work youve put into your identity-- unless, of course, its part of the act-- but youre not pretending! its just that applause affirms your existence, so naturally everything revolves around that. you love your audience and you cant imagine life without being seen and praised. humiliation could destroy you, but you will always rise like the graceful pheonix before a new audience, to dazzle and impress and entertain again. you have infinite creative potential inside of you, a kaledioscope of color and expression is at your fingertips. thats why you cannot stand those "certain people" who come around to expose your ego. these people are usually intellectuals who are penetrating and insightful, and they always try to bring you down a peg. when you tell a problematic joke on stage, theyre always advocating for the audience and viewing your act in an idealistic lense. "its just art!" you cry. "and its my art! so if you dont like it, you can leave!" but when the audience leaves, it always unearths your insecurities. how are these people so in-touch with your audience? how do they forecast the audience's needs so accurately with their insights? youre the one on stage, but these intellectuals know the rhythms of the future, and theyre forcing you to step up and change. you recognize their genius and want it for yourself, because your heart is a stage, and theater is about the interplay between the actor and the audience. can you use your heart to feel into the hearts of the collective? can you change with the age? is that something you even want?
âšvirgo: your attention to detail is truly a gift, and it enriches everyone around you-- even if they dont notice. you can put your ego to the side and really analyze what truly needs to be done, and then you do it, without fuss. once you find the flaw with your eye for detail, you uproot it. even when its thankless work, you are a major service to those around you because you keep things efficient and organized, just like your own bodies and minds. when things are unclean, you keep them clean, just like your unconscious. in fact, you regularly go into the basement of your mind to take an inventory of your compulsions, obsessions, and needs. you may appear neurotic to others, and you may feel that way too! your eye for detail can sometimes paralyze you with all the ways you need to improve yourself. even when it comes to others, it may be hard not to see flaws and want to perfect them. it may be hard to relate to people outside of this ritual because youre so invested in the routine of that role. when your eye for detail sees all the flaws, how can you not aspire to a future of perfection? its hard work, but everyone should be working to be better, right? thats why "certain people" who are oblivious to their own flaws bother you. everyone has a responsibility to improve, but then you meet those people who laze about and dont improve themselves. and, you notice that they dont try to improve other people either! they accept people as they are, and you resent how others gravitate to them. you assume that theyre coddling them-- but with your eye for detail, you notice something. you notice that people around them slowly heal and improve by their influence, by some strange alchemy! and you cant trace back how it was done! because they accepted them as they were-- they changed, for the better. you also notice that it works personally for those people too. somehow, by not worrying and analyzing, by withdrawing from their obsessions and escaping into art or distraction, occasionally things work out for them! it doesnt happen enough to quantify, but the numerous occasions where inaction breeds positive results astounds you! how do they do that? how do they give their problems over to some higher force by escaping? you can barely escape your own mind without feeling guilty! and you notice that their ability to escape balances their ability to ground in the moment, especially with others. it seems so disorderly and contradictory-- but it works. how can inaction and acceptance change your life too? how would your loved ones improve if you accepted them as they are? can you tolerate uncertainty enough, to reap the rewards of acceptance?

Dreamcatcher should be studied by all by kpop companies.Â
theyâre the #1 perfect example of nurturing a group so that they gain momentum slowly but surely, rather than trying to make them successful by doing things to try to desperately grab peopleâs attention. when they debuted, many people could have seen this new rock and nightmare-concept group as a gimmick. people might have seen Chase Me and assumed that Happyface was actually just trying to do something last-resort to try and go, for lack of a better term, viral... especially since five of the seven members were part of a previous group that seemed completely neglected by Happyface. but by their fourth comeback, You and I, it was clear that this wasnât a gimmick. Good Night could have been written off as just a counterpart to Chase Me, especially since the music videos are connected. Fly High could have been seen as them moving away from their sound into a more accessible and popular direction, maybe because the gimmick wasnt working or something. but You and I showed that no, itâs not a gimmick, this is something theyâre really committed to, and look how hard theyâre committing to it, god damn, this is really admirable. aside from What, which from what iâve heard was a rather odd promotional period (it was a little before i got into kpop so i wasnt there for that), theyve been steadily getting bigger and bigger each comeback. not because theyâre doing things in order to grab attention, but because theyâre sticking to their guns.
i think this shows the difference between giving your group comebacks that are meant to please fans vs comebacks that are meant to please non-fans. plenty of companies who have groups that are on the border between popularity and unpopularity try to constantly reinvent their groups, casting aside anything that wasnt a massive hit, which is to say, everything. some of these groups get new concepts every comeback because like they get a comeback and it does alright but it doesnt blow up to the same level that Bboom Bboom did (which is a totally unrealistic goal of course), so the company considers it a flop, and they try something different next time, even though if they stuck with a consistent sound then they would build up a strong and loyal fanbase.Â
Happyface goes the route of not necessarily trying to win over non-fans, but rather to please the people who already are fans, over and over and over and over. they focus on maintaining that loyal niche fanbase, rather than trying to appeal to everyone. Dreamcatcherâs music wonât appeal to everyone, and it doesnât have to. sure, they donât promote Dreamcatcher the same way other companies do, but they feed their fans really, really well. and you know what? thatâs actually the best promotion possible. you know what got me into Dreamcatcher? seeing people writing about how amazing their discography is, how much content there is to consume, how consistent and artistic their entire concept is, just in generalâŠ.. how much fun being a Dreamcatcher fan is. thatâs what got me into them. people werenât even writing those posts in order to convert new fans, the intended audience of those posts was other Dreamcatcher fans, haha. thatâs the kind of promotion that no amount of money in the world can buy.
slow and steady wins the race. instead of trying to get popular overnight by making the next big thing and having all the previous attempts at that be disregarded, and having the whole thing feel really inauthentic, they decided to do their thing and believe that a dedicated fanbase will come as long as they keep doing what they believe in and feel passionate about. and like, obviously, itâs working. the reason that the dreamcatcher members can record a video for their fans of them performing Scream while dressed in outfits from their previous comebacks and incorporating moves from those comebacks into this current comebackâs choreo, so fans leave comments trying to spot all the references, is because theyve cultivated a fanbase who loves them enough to do that kind of thing, and a solid discography with no compromises or missteps. the members themselves fucking love being part of this group, and you see it on their faces in a really genuine way, in a way that just canât be faked.Â
while some other companies have tried time and time again to artificially create success by trying to be as flashy and catchy and perfect as possible, often leading to the members being mistreated as theyre viewed as tools to help the company Get Rich Quick instead of as people, Happyface decided that with Dreamcatcher, theyâre gonna take it slow and steady, focusing on making the music that is the most creatively satisfying instead of something thatâs been market-researched to death. some of those other companies aim for instant success, but Dreamcatcher aimed for a steady increase each comeback. the result is that the groups whose companies tried to shoot for popularity often end up wallowing in obscurity, especially with members often leaving because of how shittily they were treated, whereas Dreamcatcher now enjoys the kind of dedicated fanbase and solid success that a lot of those companies were shooting for. sure, they still havent gotten their first win, but... the CEOs of companies like MBK, Jellyfish, and any other company with a girl group that theyâre neglecting..... i hope theyâre fuming with anger when they see that Dreamcatcher are achieving tons of stuff and selling pretty well despite not attempting to cater to whatâs âpopularâ in any way. i hope that haunts and perplexes them, i hope it makes them feel even for a brief, introspective second that theyâre the bad guys lmao... cause they are.
#dreamcatcher#happyface#this was originally part of a larger post about dia and how their company has failed#im really proud of that post lol i went off#but i wanted to post the dreamcatcher bit on its own too because i think its worth calling attention to#long post#writing#i added the last two paragraphs for this though#this'll be my last really long post for a while probably lmao

Extremely long rant about SU Future, ft the diamonds and the symbolism they feature
the thing about su diamonds was always their representation. and we call that quickly with yellow and blue- respectively, body/physical health and emotion/emotional health. further proven, when helping gems heal, yellow diamond could help a gem find a body they liked and were comfortable with, or fix broken things in a physical form, while blue diamond helping others was just to make them happy, or to make others grieve sadness when everyone around her often ignored their sadness.
the other two diamonds were more abstract through the series, and it was relatively hard to name them, but i think i've finally grasped the base concept in one-word answers, and the health factors they represent:
white diamond was very hard to give a word until after i had watched future. for a while the only name i could give her concept was The Ego. Now, i've come to a more final conclusion: Identity/Personality health. specifically, in the aspect of the personality, id day ID health. its a much more difficult concept to format ID health into an explanation, so lets start with Identity- something we can all agree White Diamond had an unhealthy view of.
Like yellow having an obsessive need for physical and performance perfection in every gem including herself, and blues unhealthy obsession with her emotions to the point of ignoring other's emotions in favor of her own grief, sadness, or happiness. White followed suit with her example of extremely unhealthy Identity issues for herself and others; White Diamond was incapable of recognizing identity at all. She saw herself not as a Diamond but as light itself, therefore everything, everywhere, and as NOT a person. she saw all gems- creatures of projected light- therefor as herself. she was incapable of acknowledging individuality or identity.
she improves in future by facing her unhealthy views, like the other diamonds, by reversing her powers. yellow abandons her own opinions on what is a perfect body in favor of helping gems achieve bodies they want- her crutch is that Yellow is still making gems better, more correct, such as removing deformities from corruption- but she is improving by subjecting changes to approval and desires of her patients. blue abandons her need to make others face their emotions, her emotions, head on and forceful as she one did (quite litterally); she uses her powers now to make people feel happy, feel better, because when you feel less miserable your more likely to make better choices to improve yourself and your situation, much like medication- her crutch, however, is that she is still MAKING gems feel something to try and help- but she is improving, by acknowledging that making others feel miserable is wrong, and by taking the time to listen to how others are feeling and then attempt to make them happy, rather than ignore others feelings as she often did before in favor of wallowing in her own grief.
White abandons her unhealthy views of identity in the most opposite way her powers will allow. rather than make herself everything, and that everyone is just an inferior piece of herself- she lets them be everything. to do this she must acknowledge each person she connects with as an individual- as not her. she acknowledges everything they are in order to do this, and takes in every imperfection as it is, and allows it to enter herself. the crutch here is that white has not changed HER OWN identity. white diamond's taken upon herself the identities of others, to understand them, to help people "be heard," and to acknowledge their identities. she does this by erasing herself, as she has not yet come to find her identity. this is where ID Health comes into play and can be a little more complicated. the 3 facets of personality can be denoted by Superego (or morality), Ego (external personality, or the face you show the world and acknowledge yourself), and ID.
ID is most easily described as Instinct, but the reality of it is still more complicated than Instinct. it is everything subconscious, everything inherent to an animal, everything inherited from your ancestors, it is the compressed concept of function. there isn't right and wrong in ID- that is Superego. There isnt debate or awareness, thats Ego. ID is essentially invisible information, "bottom of the iceberg" of the personality. White diamond has essentially ignored and set aside all ID, shut away and suppressed it, in an effort to maintain "Perfection." her ID, her innate needs, innate emotional connections, innate acknowledgment of her own body and mind, have been ignored and put aside for Superego- morality, laws of an empire, what is right and wrong with the universe- and Ego- her display of Perfection and her Entitlement and Superiority. ID health is very difficult to care for, and can be a major factor in personality disorders. White diamond is the culmination of Identity Issues and an unhealthy ID, but like her fellow diamonds, while she has work to do on herself, theyre making improvements. and theyve started with how they affect others foremost- which is good, especially since theyre are authoritative figures who have hurt many already.Â
pink diamond was the Mind/Mental health, which seems obvious in hindsight, but her powers were of a wide variety, which leaked into other places- like real physical healing, with her tears. this is a good metaphor for how mental health has its fingers in everything. It is affected by emotion and can cause extreme or minute fluctuations in a person's emotions without external stimulus; it is effected by body chemistry and can have detrimental effects on ones health and ability; it is effected my acknowledgment from others in the Ego, it is effected by morals and judgments from the self in the Superego, and changes the weight of the ID on the personality.
pink diamond often had extreme problems with her mental health- irrationality, emotional instability, frequent rejections of herself that eventually lead to new identities, which only made such problems exacerbated by immersing herself in further strain and responsibilities she took upon herself- such as trying to "fix" her dysfunctional family. like the diamonds, pink had a need for perfection, and like the diamonds, this was both for herself and for others. when she failed to be perfect, she took extreme hits to her mental health. when her immediate family and primary interactions, the diamonds, acted with poor emotional health responses, she tried to fix them herself, with her own hands- her powers didn't always necessitate this as easily as the fellow diamonds, so her tactics were to entertain them to get them together, to throw balls to ease tension, to make jokes and to sing and to get angry when she was ignored, because you c a n t ignore your mental health or it will scream at you to pay attention to it. Herr powers did allow her to connect to other minds, things we see in steven- to enter others dreams and share his own, to travel mentally to where others are, to speak with them directly into the mind. but both pink and steven struggled to handle these powers ; possibly because mentally, they were not healthy enough to grasp them, and mental health can ruin every aspect when not cared for- if mental health can damage the body, the personality, the mind, the emotions- then surely it can disrupt magic powers.
i think that pink made her change, just like her fellow diamonds did, as rose quartz. while the diamonds did full immediate 180s and turned their powers in reverse, pink diamonds change took time. at first even her rebellion was a desire for herself, to save only earth and to be not a diamond- yet another new identity, another attempt to run as she often did from other problems. and i think her change started just after Garnet appeared, when the rebellion stopped being (only) about earth, but also about Gems. rather than kick every gem off earth, it became free gems who wanted to be freed. it became not fixing her colony, not maintaining perfection or her secrets once earth was free. to be the true opponent of mental health, you need change, and you need growth, and you need support. pink diamond never found and of these things, but rose quartz did. rose quartz made her 180 with the support of the rebellion and the rebels and the crystal gems, made the hard change to finally abandon trying to be perfect like a diamond, and eventually started to grow on earth when the war and the turmoil was over.
her crutch, though, was that she never did stop running. she lived a lie, faked her death and blamed everything on her old self who she detached from, and never faced this music, and instead left everything to be dealt with without her. in the end pink diamonds crutch was to run and to abandon her problems, even while she improved, but because she lived a lie and never shared amd faced her biggest secret, she stopped growing. these traumas were inherited to Steven in turn- he was given remnants of her old life as pink diamond, memories of her anger and haunting nightmares of a neglectful home and eroding mental health that she never was able to acknowledge, because she abandoned them and never faced them again. while rose made improvements, using her powers to try to help others take care of their mental health and to grow, her crutch just like white diamond's is that she did not approach her own.Â
so to summarize a very long post:
Yellow Diamond: The Body, Physical Health
Blue Diamond: The Emotions, Emotional Health
White Diamond: The Identity, Personality Health
Pink Diamond: The Mind, Mental Health

Kudos to you for sleeping, even if it is 8:30am!!! Thank you so much for your incredible hard work this comeback, it's so amazing to have you as a content creator and I know that you're doing tons of work that we aren't seeing on tumblr for izone fans on other platforms. I legit was not expecting to be so emotional about this comeback but I WAS and I love Iz*one so much, my heart feels like it'll burst. Can we get more of your thoughts on the comeback? Thank you so much for everything.
thanks for your support as always! tbh i was so sure i was gonna sleep instead of staying up bc i went out the entire day... but i couldnt stop thinking about izone...
honestly theres a point in time for kpop groups when they begin to evolve from idols to artists... and i feel like that is starting to happen to izone
im honestly so freaking happy about fiesta because itâs so much more than i imagined it would be. tbh usually when fans freak out about the dance i cant really trust it most of the time, but after seeing wizone reactions to the showcase on twt i really wanted to believe... and im so glad that they delivered
their dancing feels so genuine to me and it feels like theyre all on the same page and there isnt a single member throwing off the balance and they all have the same fire and intention in their eyes. i dont know how to explain it but my heart can feel how much they value respect and take seriously the stage and the music and the fans. and this honestly reflects back into the people that work with them; the staff, videographers, stylists, etc. the video editing was amazing for mv. the outfits were perfect for the dance both visually and as well for comfort for dancing (the boots are comfy to dance in... much better than violeta shoes).Â
can you imagine how much further theyâll continue to grow if theyve already improved and achieved this much in this amount of time?
before i go into small and random thoughts i had imma end it off and sayÂ
stream fiesta and listen to my babyâs ballad thx for coming to my ted talk
small random things i noticed:
yenas dancing is absolutely stunning. she always jokes around and get called a joker and a bluffer and then yuri laughs and says yena needs more practice... but to be able to convey through dance and performance at this level you need to think a LOT and work A LOT i love her
eunbi got given parts that made use of her vocal range and her voice came out so strong... and spaceship made me feel things
there are small parts in the choreo that are âbetween movesâ but they keep focus and also kept that clean... they really went to that level of detail...
ahn yujins growth is freaking scary... and she learned how to dance as a tall person to match short members (this is actually a skill LOL i got yelled at in practice for like 4 months straight for it until i learned)
chaeyeon can include head parts in choreography while keeping the cameraâs intention is kind of super insane
im worried for some of their knees in that one leg down part (except for chaewon and yujin who are v stable)
when hitomi did textures in her part i fking cheered my heart out even though it was one second LOL
ive never felt an idol step on my so hard until chaewonâs first part when she threw down and stomped girl GET IT. she also looks down on u like ur a piece of shit i love it we love our swearing girl crush legend
i dont know how two people are able to share a dance break when the formation stays the same and they dont share centre but chaewon and chaeyeon did it
yuri at 4s going down wow
there are times when cheonjae ahn yujin really slows her moves down and takes her time and makes us feel it and i love that
theres a part where they throw their arms up and yujin is in the centre and she doesnt throw her arms up all the way to match everyone elses arm height and that was peak intellectual
whoever izones choreographer is theyve been respecting the music since forever and i appreciate that
theres always one idol in a group that doesnt hold the camera long enough at the end of their part and izone used to have that as well but it doesnt happen anymore wtf
the dance lets eunbi show off her strength rather than going for elegance and i think she slapped me a few times and bonked me with her hips a few times but i encourage that
i love yujinnies hair
hitomis stage presence improved so much i freaking love her
i want yena fancam shes so good
u might be wondering why i care about textures so much but textures are THE thing that kpop always lacked which thus took away the meaning from the dance. u cant always punch and u cant always make things soft and izone GETS IT
chaeyeon dancing looks so happy and that makes me happyÂ
little main vocal nako is my love
wonyoungs vocal improvement is crazy
the way yuri says hwalryeohan in her chorus ohmygoodness
yenaâs chorus in spaceship where she showed us vocal prowess by not going falsetto on the high note
yuri spacebuns
mombi in denim
dimple aegyo yujin in spaceship bridge
the way sakura manipulated me into giffing her first
the way my heart screams CUTE whenever i see nako
the thing on yuris ear idk what it is but it cool
that entire choreo is a left butt workout LOL
the way yena runs up to the centre in spaceship chorus
eunbi slapped me again
miyawaki sakura readjusting her positioning at the end to make a perfect diagonal without sacrificing the dance is classic miyawaki pro behaviour
how is minjuâs smile so perfect... esp in her first part...
the way yuri smiles in spaceship but also the way yuri smiles in ayayayaÂ
izone makes their own genre its not cute its not girlcrush its everything mixed together and anything you could possibly want it to be i dont make the rules it just happened this way
#quillium#that was a lot longer than i thought it would be#but ive been like this for the past 12 hours LOL#m#thanks for stopping by#replies

hey, how are you? could you pls do taurus sun, cap moon for the sun-moon placements thingy? ty đ„°đ
Hey there! đ đ đ Ahh Iâm doing slightly better today tysm for asking! đ đ I hope youâre doing well too! đ đÂ
[Below Cut: Taurus Sun - Capricorn Moon đ”]
Wants love/nurture/care but at the same time theyâre so plagued/bogged down by their own doubt, insecurity and âpersonal issuesâÂ
Most of these are self-fulfilling prophecies, but the double earth combo can have a really hard time not calculating consequences to things, actions, decision they think they have to make. That they lose opportunities for happiness altogether.
Youâre practical to a fault, to the point where you feel yourself (know that youâre) limiting yourself. You like being decisive, directive. Concrete and straight-forward response ( âhey I think this..â) But you drive yourself into paranoia when it comes to trying to decipher other peopleâs reaction/motive/what they mean when they do that.
You flounder between thinking âoh maybe it doesnât mean muchâ and thinking âshit does it mean something?â -- Taurus/Capricorn knows they can be oblivious (not pay attention) to other peopleâs reaction because theyâre self-contained/sufficient. They may think themselves as kind of dense, and it has never been a problem for them until they actually hope/want something from others y know?
âIgnorance is blissâ can only work for so long, these people are stubborn and clingy to their own ways/methods to thing.
Learn sometimes that you are repressing your own emotions-- that emotions are supposed to flow, instead of blocking yourself for getting your hopes up, for having faith in others, for not being practical all the time.Â
Learn how to let emotions be emotions, how to ride the wave. Itâll help you âcome downâ later (when it evens out) and think practically later.
This is how to develop your Capricorn Moon instead of making it ugh-- bad for you all the time. You can learn how to use it to your best, if you let it pause/hit stop and let emotions do itâs own thing as well (practice) without the interference of your mind buzzing all the time.
You work better when you actually process your emotions, let it heighten spike and then envelop you, before it evens out. Once youâre relaxed/drained-- you can have an easier time planning your next step of action (instead of your overly obsessive hyped up paranoid self doing the thinking)
Anyways itâll take time. Taurus/Capricorn are also people who stands firm with their friends, they may not show it much but they do care. And often times theyâd like to spoil others if they can (Venus/Saturn)
That doesnât mean that they do it thoughtlessly, these people are prudent/frugal to a fault. Even when you spoil your friend itâs as a ârewardâ -- you want them to feel like theyâve accomplished something before you shower them with gifts.Â
You can be stern/strict when you have to, you know when to put your feet down and youâre not afraid to do it. Often times, youâre the friend who always have your head on right and can stop others from being âstupid/foolish/going to hurt themselvesâ--- but you have to learn how to let go
You know this--- part of your insecurity is that you feel like youâre not as fun or bold or joyful as others. You like your comfort, but why is there nothing âspecialâ in your comfort you can show off to others? Learn how to let go, let your impulsivity come by. Learn how to tie your practicality with bold ideas, let your friend influence/help you, enable you to do stuff and put that clever clever mind to use instead.
Youâre better at being street-smart than you realize, you just like safety a lot. Learn how to listen to others, have an open-mind to those whoâs a little more maverick than you. Learn how to have fun, and find your purpose socially too (who you are socially) -- itâll help you feel a little less distanced/not so special and a lot more appreciative of your own traits y know?
With those you love, you love dearly. You set down roots with fond trust and happiness with them. But that takes time and shift to grow on you because you can be terrified of change/things that moves too fast. You might have to confront that fear-- especially if you feel like someone is trying to get you to open- up/changes in your relationship-- donât let your own stubbornly/safety-net keep you from not adjusting to the pace of the world.
Value yourself in your talent, your skills rather than the result/what you get from it. Your worries are often just your own make-up of things that you think are against you (odds more than benefits even if itâs made up in your mind-- opportunities vs practicality, you hesitate to think about opportunities you can afford.).Â
You have to learn how to let go of your âself-identity thatâs measured with material wealth around youâ -- whether itâs with friends (unstabilizing friendship) with your achievements or with what/who you think you are. By re-defining yourself with positivity and optimism-- like âyeah Iâm a good artist/person/deserve to be loveâ -- you advance more and doesnât let your own adversary (your own mind) get the best of you.Â
Try not to hold onto your fears, or suppress your feeling so much. You have to release that tension by openly admitting to it and talking about it-- I know as an earth/earth youâre already going âyikes sure maybe laterâ-- but try to do so now. Try to implement it now in your everyday life. Grab one of your friends, and maybe have them help you learn how to be better at expressing/accepting your feelings.
(Donât grab another earth sign friend btw, or fire sign for that matter. Try to grab someone whoâs a water, preferably Scorpio or Cancer)
I hope this helps! đ Good luck!! đ đ Â

MAY 2018 : TOBY NEWS
âLOST IN SPACEâ:
By May 16th, it was pretty much confirmed there would be a Season 2 of âLost in Spaceâ, confirmed on 20th by Netflix twitter.
âSUMMER OF ROCKETSâ:
Also confirmed was a new BBC 2 cold war drama, âSummer of Rocketsâ to star Toby alongside Keeley Hawes, Linus Roache & Timothy Spall.
This six-part series is set in the UK during the Cold War period of the late 1950s, a time when the UK, like much of the world, was dealing with the threat of international espionage and nuclear armageddon.
Filming has begun in and around London and Oxford, and it will be screened sometime in 2019.
The story will be Poliakoffs personal insight into this period and is set against the backdrop of Britain testing its first hydrogen bomb.
Executive Producer Helen Flint, a long-time collaborator with Poliakoff on productions such as Close To The Enemy, Shooting The Past and Perfect Strangers, said:
This piece set in 1958, is hinged at the pivotal point of world history where the past and future are pulling in equal strength and human beings, young and old have little control over the eventual outcome.
IN TOBYâS OWN WORDS:
On âLost in Spaceâ:
âI think they have been very respectful to the original series, but they smashed it out in their own way. The thing is, one cantâ be overly reverential to these things because otherwise, youâre just remaking exactly what was already made very well.â
âI think Johnâs just trying to find his place within this family now. The idea is that he was confronted with the situation of his family going away and him never seeing them again unless he went along. Now that heâs come along for this ride, heâs trying to find his way back into the family, how to relate to his family, how to relate to Maureen, and how to work things out.â
âIn my case, why I think it is fun and why I think it works is thereâs something timeless about the original idea. The Swiss Family Robinson, obviously, is the original idea of a family in jeopardy. It follows the trials of that family, but also the emotional trials of how they overcome their problems and their weaknesses, because they have to confront them and overcome them.â
âThat was then taken into âLost in Spaceâ. In the first iteration of that what worked is that youâre looking at a regular family and their problems, but in this extraordinary situation. Itâs hundreds of light years away from earth in a space ship and on a planet, but theyâre having the same regular, everyday problems of any other family. The irony of that is that dynamic is really fun. What weâve done is weâve updated it, so rather than it being this pristine, apple pie, American family, its a modern family with all of its dysfunctions.â
âWe know every family has dysfunctions. There is no ideal, pristine family, and the Robinsons are one of those families. Just a normal family that everybody can relate to, but itâs in this extreme situation and you still get the ironies of watching a family deal with each other and their own problems in the way every family does that you can relate to, but in this extraordinary back drop of being on a planet thousands of light years away. I think that that trend still works and its fun.â
âThe only reason to do something again is if you feel that you can say something to a new generation of people and you can do it in a totally individual way. Youâre just taking the kernel of the original idea and re-doing it, but for now.â
âWe canât replicate what was done in the original show. It just wouldnât work now. The tone of it is very different although it still retains some of the fun aspects of it, the comic stuff that goes on there, the light touch. I donât think we could repeat what that show became.â
âI think the original pilot episode is much more akin to what weâre doing. As the series went on, it became if youâll forgive this phrase campier and campier. It was almost like a sitcom, but in space. I just donât think that that would work now. So, weâve made it into something that is lots more for todays generation.â
âI think itâs really great that they did a gender swap. Itâs actually a genius stroke because you cannot replicate what was done with that character in the original series. But Parker Posey is such an individual performer. She brings to it her own sense of wackiness and fun.â
"That is a reflection of what the original character was, but itâs very much its own thing, and I think thatâs absolutely right. If you cast a man in that part, they would feel this pressure to replicate what was done in the original series, a moustache-twirling villainous kind of thing. I think it just wouldn't hold water now and it would just seem sort of arch.â
âIn other words, I think what Parker Posey does is so much her own thing, and as it goes on, you realise that itâs a much more nuanced character in that there are reasons for her being the way she is. I like that you can get the fact that she is horrible and does terrible things, but at the same time, sheâs a real and complex character.â
âI donât have any interest in doing that at all. I love earth. Itâs a beautiful planet, and I think, going to Mars, although it looks amazing from aerial photographs taken from orbiting satellites and things like that, and Iâve seen documentaries about it, but I think itâs a desolate, dangerous place, filled with radiation. It would be too dangerous going there, and so arduous.â
âI think that is one of the things that we show. There is a warning to this. The idea that we can trash this planet and then move on to another planet somewhere else, that thereâll be some other Goldilocks planet that we can go to, have it and trash that one, and then just keep on moving on, its crazy. We have to look after the planet were on. Iâm all for space exploration, but I wouldnât want to do it myself because Iâve got kids and a family and the idea would be terrifying to me.â
âThe planet is presented to an audience initially as, âOh, itâs so great. Itâs got oxygen, so they can breathe. Itâs similar to the Earth.â But then as you get further and further into the drama, you realise there are more and more hostile things about this planet that are dangerous and there are reasons that there are storms with diamonds and deserts. There are astronomic reasons why this planet is like that, which then become apparent. Then they realise that they have to get off it. This isnât somewhere where they can just set up their colony.â
âIt is aspirational to me in that itâs about people trying to be better, in the best way that American shows and films sometimes do. When it doesnât work, its because its super sentimental and glib.â
âThis is about people who find themselves in jeopardy, but also theyâre in jeopardy in their personal relationships, in the way that they relate to each other, and it shows how they overcome their own problems and weaknesses. They all do that in a very real way, so I think thatâs aspirational.â
âAlso, one of the things in watching this, the kids are so bright and so capable, especially the girls. One of the things I would like my daughter to get from this is how strong and capable the girls are, and how intelligent they are. Theyâve worked really hard to be that way.â
âIt would inspire me, if I was a child, to want to work hard and to want to be like that. Look, Iâm not saying that TV should be life changing. Itâs entertainment, but if it, along the way, inspires kids, or reflects good qualities, aspirational qualities, without lecturing people or being sentimental, I think thatâs good. I think âLost in Spaceâ does that to a certain extent, in a way that family shows should do, in a gentle kind of encouraging nurturing way, rather than patronising.â
Source: parade.com
âWhen I discussed it with Zack Estrin he was like, look, this is not an apple pie family. This is a family that is full of great people, but theyâre damaged here. The relationship between the mother and father is dysfunctional. Theyâve padded it, and itâs in disrepair and thatâs part of the drama. Are they gonna be able to figure things out? How do they relate to one another? Itâs an estranged father, whoâs been away fighting wars and stuff like that, and he has become disconnected from his kids.â
âItâs just not very dramatically interesting to have a family thats always kind of fine. I mean, itâs dramatic enough that theyâre in this life-threatening situation, but you add to the drama by saying they don't really know how to relate to one another and thereâs this whole family dysfunction that they have to work out as well. And are they gonna work that out?â
âThereâs something disingenuous about them being a family thatâs perfect. Not only would it be dramatically boring, but itâs also just not true. We know anybody who has a family knows that itâs not perfect and that people make mistakes. But the thing is that these people, like everyone, are just trying to do better. And I think that that is something everyone can relate to, whether youâre a kid or youâre an adult.â
âOne of the things that I really love about the show is that itâs aspirational. This family, they are, theyâre people who are trying to be better and do good and to survive. And so itâs very, in many ways I think its a very cognitive show. And all these relationships in the end, while theyâre complicated they are part of this. And we need that kind of, I think we need the kind of show like that because theres a lot of really depressing shows out there, which are fantastic and amazing, but theyâre really depressing. And this is one has a really positive message and a kind of affirming message.â
âTo be able to do what they wanted to do with this show, to kind of make it as magical to kids now as it was when it originally came out in 1965Â it takes an organisation like Netflix that can throw enough money at it to achieve that. The kind of wonder and the kind of adventure. The scale of the adventure that theyâre going for.â
âI think what I really loved about it was the kids are really intelligent. If I was a kid watching this I would go, I want to be as intelligent and as capable as that child. Im gonna work harder in school. Im gonna really try and work hard at math. Thatâs great as well. So I like that, the fact that the kids, to some extent, end up helping out the adults. Its a nice dynamic.â
âThe kids need that adventure and the fun. But then the grown-ups who are watching the show need to care about these people as well and enjoy the show on a different level. So we were kind of like, that part of the show is for the grown-ups. For them to relate to these people and to identify with them. To go, I know what thats like. I know how difficult that can be sometimes."
âI really love working with Molly. We actually had a lot of dialogue early on, both together and with Zack Estrin, about just figuring out exactly what their relationship was. Because when we were talking, we were both like, This marriage has to seem real to people; otherwise people just arenât gonna care.â

âOne of the relationships I though was really quite clever is not between Will and the robot, but between John and the robot. The fact is the son chooses the company and protection of the robot above his own father.â

âIf itâs going to be a family show, then the families have to recognise themselves through the screen. We had to present normal families, and modern families are all complicated.â
Source:Â dailynewsegypt.com
âThere's this sort of thing of, âOh, why are they together on this thing if theyâre separated?â Itâs like, If you donât take me with you, Iâll never see my family again. So theres that reason for him being thereâ
Source: io9.gizmodo.com
âThey sent me the script and I was dubious, at first. I said, âLost in Spaceâ? Theyâre reviving that?! They tried to do that with the film, and it didnât work. And then, I read the script and I actually liked it. The thing I liked most was that they were pitching it at such a great level. It was sophisticated enough for adults to watch and really get something out of it, and yet it had this fantastic adventure quality. What I really liked about it is that the kids are intelligent and its aspirational. If I were a kid watching this, Iâd be like, I want to be that bright and that capable. And it doesnât get ridiculous. They pitched it at the right level. And I felt that Maureen and John were real people. I like the way that they were written and I liked the fact that it was a relationship in trouble. Theyâre trying to figure out how to get along and how to deal with not only this extreme situation that theyâre in, with extreme jeopardy and the terror of that, but also figuring out how to work things out between themselves. Thats what sold me on it. They seemed to be a family that people can relate to because its not some apple pie family that just doesnât exist. Theyâre fallible human beings, who are trying to be better.â
âLike most kids, theyâre all completely different from one another, and they have different strengths and weakness, just like normal kids in a family. Itâs about how you cope with that. All of those different dynamics that happen seemed real to me, they're just in these extraordinary circumstances.â
âItâs brilliant! Itâs one of the reasons that I love doing what I do. You can do something so entirely different, not only in its context, but also in its whole feel. I had done âBlack Sails' for four years and it was a really tough journey for me. I know it sounds slightly pretentious, but I really was wrung out, by the end, by the whole experience. It was an amazing experience, but Ive never worked that hard, in my life. There were long days with extreme conditions, filming in South Africa, and you had to go from massive physical set pieces to doing intense dialogue scenes. Youâd go from one extreme, of being beaten up physically, to another extreme, of being beaten up mentally. So, when this came along and I started doing it, it was a relief to me. With âBlack Sailsâ, Flints journey and options were narrowing down and it was inevitable, what was going to happen to him. With âLost in Spaceâ, it seems to be opening out. Its about people trying to survive and trying to be better people and fighting to be alive. Flint had a death wish. After four years, that was really dark. Itâs just a really nice juxtaposition to âBlack Sailsâ, which I miss, enormously, but it felt like I was on holiday with âLost in Spaceâ. Although, like any job, âLost in Spaceâ had its own pressures, but they weren't the same pressures that I experienced on âBlack Sailsâ.
âHis relationship with the kids, that was a wonderful journey for me, as an actor. I really enjoyed playing that. As the season progresses, the robot becomes this surrogate father and protector for Will, whoâs physically frightened. The irony is that Will has this father who is very brave, and whoâs gone off on done all of this fighting in war, and heâs very capable, himself, but heâs nervous and frightened. So, the robot becomes very protective of him, but at the same time, threatens John. His son has to go to a robot to get what he should be giving him, and thats painful for him. The realisation that he's missed out on an enormous amount of his kids childhood and not being there for them, and trying to make up for that and connect with them again, is a very moving thing to play.â
âInitially, John is very distrustful of the robot. Itâs a real problem because you need the robot in this extreme situation, since he seems to be able to help you, but at the same time, what is this thing goes berserk? You just donât know what he's going to do. And as the show goes on, you realise that there are more reasons for him to distrust this thing. The whole thing is a great journey. All of that is really fun to play.â
âThe biggest learn for me, that Iâve never had to do before, was doing all of that spaceship acting, sitting in the pilots chair and knowing what all the buttons do. That was such fun. While youâre doing it, youâre going, What am I doing?!, and then you have to remember what you used the buttons for, the next time. Being on a spaceship, throwing yourself around, I had a blast. You have to pinch yourself, once in awhile, and go, What am I doing?!â
âYeah, the spacesuit was pretty uncomfortable, I have to say. One of the things I most enjoyed about the shoot, because it was so refreshing to me, was working with the kids. One becomes a bit jaded. Its easy to fall into saying, Oh, this spacesuit is so uncomfortable! But when Max Jenkins is jumping around going, This spacesuit is so cool!, itâs so refreshing. Itâs so refreshing to be around that enthusiasm. Itâs infectious. It was so great having the kids around because it just made you realise how lucky we were to be doing what we were doing.â
âWe had a little bit of rehearsal time, but it was just a little bit. Max is such an easy kid to get to know. Heâs just so open, and his parents are adorable. We couldnât have lucked out more with the children that we got because theyâre really great kids. Theyâre really open, really friendly, really open to having a great time, and up for learning. That just makes things so much easier. Im assuming that things can go very differently. We were incredibly lucky. All of us just really got on well and working with them seemed very natural. There didnât seem to be any process that we had to go through. It just happened very quickly.â
âMolly and I spent a lot of time with Zack Estrin, talking about their relationship. If this isnât a real relationship and a real family than nobody is going to care. The relationship has to be real without being depressing or sentimental. It has to be something that people can relate to. Especially because this is a family show, grown ups have to watch this, so it has to be sophisticated, as well as incredibly fun for the kids. We need grown ups and parents to be able to relate to Maureen and John and their problems and aspirations. What made it really great fun for me was working with Molly because sheâs such a great actress, and we have that back and forth, both on screen and off. Their relationship feels like these are real people. Whats kind of funny is that the romance of the whole thing is really them. Theyâre the romantic couple. You want them to figure it out because theyâre good people. If weâre lucky enough to go again, it will be interesting to see where they take John in Season 2. The other thing that I really enjoyed was working with Max and exploring that relationship, which to me is very real. I spent a lot of time away from my family, filming in South Africa, so I knew what it was like, being away from your family for a long time and feeling slightly out of place when you come back into it and trying to figure things out. I could really relate to that relationship, between John and Will. My son is about the same age as Max, but maybe a bit younger.â
âInterestingly, I would say that he creates the strongest bond with his son. He works out a lot of stuff with Maureen, but the greatest distance he covers is with Will. The last four episodes are really lovely, for me. John is also a slow burn. You donât really get to know him that well, for awhile. It takes awhile to figure out his agenda, and whats going on between him and Maureen. It takes a long time to figure him out, but once you see what heâs trying to do, the last four or five episodes are really nice. It really is a journey for him. He does things wrong, but itâs because heâs clumsy. He doesnât quite get it right and he misjudges things a bit. Heâs too tough because heâs used to giving orders to people. Hes an army guy, so itâs all about training and execution for him. He has to relearn what empathy is, and how to deal with these kids without being this grumpy soldier.â
âYeah, my kids did come, a couple of times, and they got on really well with Max, Mina and Taylor. And Mollys son came to set. It was really nice. It felt like a very family-oriented show, and they all hung out together. It was a really nice feeling and very relaxed.â
âMolly and I were quite adamant that the stakes had to be real and the threats had to be real. As an actor, the only thing you have is your instinct and your imagination. Those are the two main tools that you use. I didnât really enjoy putting myself in that situation, where you are the person and your kids are under threat, but you had to give it that intensity. Of course, if it was real, I probably would have died. I would have had a nervous breakdown within an hour, but these characters can manage it. Obviously, one has to imagine what that would be like.â

âI was seven years old when âStar Warsâ came out. That just kind of blew my head off. â2001â, âBlade Runnerâ. All of these, all of the stuff like that. This is the one genre I completely expected to be in.â
âThe character of Captain Flint, who I was playing, was a very nihilistic character that was on this kind of tragic course toward death. So to get something so polar opposite was really fun. It just sort of ended up being the perfect antidote to having done something like âBlack Sailsâ.â

"The thing I admire in John is that he is somebody who knows that he has got it wrong, and he's trying to put it right. Not only for his relationship with his wife, but individually, his relationships with his children. He's trying to not only save their lives, but he's also trying to do the right thing. And I think that's what I really like about this series, is that it's something that is aspirational without being sentimental. It's about people trying to be better people and trying to do the right thing."
"I think that that's something we kind of need right now, because the world is really depressing at the moment, and things are really frightening. You watch TV and a lot of it is really depressing--and brilliant--but pretty much depressing. And I think what's nice is you can get lost in the adventure of this, but also these are people who are trying to be better. And I think there's something uplifting about watching that."

On inequality in Hollywood:
"I think the movements are great. I am a parent of two girls and I have a wife who is very passionate, and I want a change for them, my wife and for all our friendsâ.
"I can only sympathise with and support the movement. Change needs to happen and it is mad that it has taken so longâ
"It is a correction. It is really needed at the moment. Being a parent of two young girls, I am really excited about a show that has two young girls who are represented as incredibly capable, strong, smart, and sassy.â
"It is really great that there is a show which is showing that. I am excited for my kids to watch that and excited for the whole generation of kids to watch those characters and aspire to be like that.â
"There are moments which are light. Also, what is fun is that it is taking the domestic situation essentially and putting it in space. So, there are these situations that occur and every parent or child will recognise... They have either been through that or seen them. But it is this extraordinary situation where they are million of years away from Earth which makes it different.â

On âSummer of Rocketsâ:
âItâs great to be working with Stephen Poliakoff again after such a long time. I loved working with him on âPerfect Strangersâ; heâs such a unique and original voice in British television. Itâs also good to be filming something back home in the UK for the BBC. Itâs been a while.â

OTHERS ON TOBY:
Maxwell: âIâll never forget going up on top of the glacier. My scenes with Toby where we were walking in the snow, werenât green-screen we were on a real glacier! We had to take a one-hour and 45-minute ride on a snowmobile to get there.â
âIt was cold but sunny, and Toby didnât think of getting sun protection. The following day, he had sunburn above his eyes and under his nose, and the glass of the space suit charred half his face.â
