i ran a combat this weekend that went really well and one of my npcs got beat to shit but also got to revivify a pc and it was just really chewy and cinematic and not that she isnt always on my mind but shes been on my mind a lot more this week BUT

ive been reflecting a lot on her year in the game so far, and the reasons i made her gender conforming but visibly trans when i introduced her, versus how thats evolved with her relationships to the pcs and other npcs now

I think it's more interesting to analyse this with what's happening to carlando slowly being overtaken by landoscar as primary lando ship slowly and the tldr is ships change when dominant perceptions of the character changes. (obviously all the ships listed here are still hugely popular, nobody felled off, I'm talking about a change in trends)

when DTS first came out, daniel was already primed to be the star. he was the personality, he was funny, handsome, likeable and the story of future world champion vs talented young teammate the team is prioritising is compelling. max, on the other hand, was this young and brash, hungry for winning at any cost, seemingly asshole but then surprise he has a tragic childhood backstory and what he really needs is to be loved (cock in hole) to fix him. if you watch the teammate compilations from that era, maxiel just makes sense. max who is 😠 on DTS, is googly eyed giggling at everything DR says even when it's not funny. how can two guys who are so competitive on track yet have such a great relationship off track? they gotta fuck it out. prime rpf time.

carlando while less competitive has that same teammate narrative, older guy falling in the role of caretaker while the younger guy is socially awkward, anxious baby with their inside jokes (cabron) to be fixed with love (🍆🍩)

the reason why dando never popped off the way maxiel and carlando did because they already had each other's archetypes. lando already had the older teammate top with carlos and daniel already had the younger teammate to charm with max, so dando never got to get big before lando started beating DR and DR wasn't a competitive teammate so the narrative was a lesser one

I will give lestappies credit here, they ran such a potent propaganda campaign that if you were a new fan in 2022 you would totally believe that charles in Ferrari is obviously going to win the championship next year and not this is a freak ferrari good year. Now charles is the 🥺 one with an even more tragic backstory and looking so beautifully devastated after ferrari fucks up his races he was supposed to win, monaco! he is now the new hole 2 be fixed with love and max is the top now.

here's my hot take. lestappen probably wouldn't be as big if max had a more fandom approved fuckable teammate for a consistent amount of time. pierre and alex and checo in 2021 were teammates far too short to really get its own standing and compete with maxiel. and fandom never bit on chestappen because once again, daniel already filled that older teammate for max role. for prowl my instinct was just straight up put her in a uniform ,, hair pinned + gelled back, low bun above the collar and held in a net etc etc and that made decisions like giving her thick shoulders and a gorgeous cold stare a lot easier!!! but i struggled more with jazz because of.jazz's whole character ykyk

jazz was one of the first tf characters i started noodling with a bishoujo design for, so initially i used the kotobukiya designs as a general style guide along with loose vibes combining spy + dancer, with a healthy amount of "how do i make her more cool + hot"

so so so i dug through pinterest a lot while looking for refs/inspo and felt my love for pretty girls growing by the second T~T

Explaining the reasoning behind it (i.e. "alcohol's bad for your brain's development and if you drink it you might cause brain problems later down the road") or satisfying curiosity (i.e. "you can have a sip but it'll taste bad") are both going to be infinitely more effective than just going "no, not for you", because this way, you both help shine a light on the Unknown Thing they want to understand, thus snipping off a lot of the desire to do the thing as they now understand why it would be a bad idea, and help offer information on "hey, what happens if i (do the thing)" that they can then utilize in situations later down the road. The forbidden is tempting - by telling someone precisely what lies down that road, they can choose for themself if they want to see what comes from following it or not, and they can use that information in future situations where it may be handy. This is Forbidden Things 101.

They aren't missing out on anything, regardless. Vodka doesn't taste very good. Alcohol in general doesn't, honestly. Sex and drugs and alcohol and such get a lot of weight from the culture built up around them, but at the end of the day, they're just... things. You can do them or you can't. Building up a whole big structure around them to either pedestalize them or demonize them just... makes it more likely for people to make bad decisions around them, and makes it more likely for otherwise-reasonable decisions to be skewed.

Well, back at it again. And we're starting with the star dog.

And this is the thing that dissolves Tears, if we remember correctly. We remember being very confused about it, in the demo playthrough, considering there really wasn't much indication of what it DID - and then we got prompted to maybe use it on the wall of Tears, and we were like "yeah, okay, this might as well be happening". Is that noted strange feeling related to Time craft? Like the recurring motif of that tug in your stomach?

We also remember this from the demo. Will this be relevant later? Is it how the star dog got in? What's this here all about? We don't see a way to interact with it now, but maybe later...?

i have a strong urge to read a fanfic thats essentially just someone pointing out how strange atsushi and akutagawa's relationship can be and how akutagawa should do more traditional romantic stuff w/ atsushi unless he wants to lose him / be abandoned by him

so it follows akutagawa pretty much googling romantic things to do in a relationship and clicking the checkmarks

give flowers - he breaks into atsushi's apartment and fills it to the brim with plants

buy chocolates - well atsushi always ends up giving some of his sweets to ranpo anyway so akutagawa might as well half and half it between him and ranpo from the start

go dancing - atsushi ends up being awkward and embarrassed most of the time same w/ ryuu but they end up having fun

and its a hot mess tho atsushi, confused and disoriented, appreciates it anyway

the main thing is that atsushi and aktuagawa can be plenty romantic when they want to be but they dont show that in public much becuz theyre them and its just not like them - a lot of the things they do come more naturally and evolve as they get to know each other so even if they dont mark all the things on the list - they still work together rlly well

but the point of the fic is akutagawa trying to follow basic dating tips and failing miserably becuz he's putting too much thought into the action rather than atsushi and then him and atsushi beating up whoever gave akutagawa shit advice and told him atsushi would abandon him
