I LOOOOVE IT especially with the 2024 resurgence, people are coming up with some REALLY fun variations on it!! a lot of swaps seem like theyd be set in stone, right, but just like how i think that gideon is better suited as a mabel equivalent in reverse falls, ive seen people have a LOT of fun justifying why they do certain swaps! like ive seen ones where abuela is the soos equivalent and others where lazy susan is, ones where candy is the fiddleford and ones where pacifica is the fiddleford its neat

i also noticed a lot of people are toying around with dipper and mabels role in the au and questioning just how much one twin would steal the other's identity, like what that entails- ive seen trans interpretations of it one way or both ways are all ways and I LOVE THEM ALL. ive even seen people make mabel the ford equivalent and IT MAKES SENSE SOMEHOW?! cant you just imagine a badass old lady travelling the multiverse? isnt it COOL??

idk whether i like mabel as the stan or mabel as the ford better though, because ive always had such a soft spot for zany grauntie mabel and her getting to bond with the stans its so cute.

i do have to say, though, my current favourite new addition to relativity falls has to be with the fact that nobody really knew what to do with bill before, he was left mostly the same, but ive seen people saying that his parents would replace him in the story and OH MY GOD IM IN LOVE WITH THAT CONCEPT.

Okay this is kinda gonna be a bit of a rant and might not make any sense so sorry in advance but OH MY GOD I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SEE TRISH AS NOTHING BUT A SPOILED TEEN!!!!!!

People say "she's a brat and demands so much from team Bucciarati" and "shes so rude to the gang" "shes a badly written character, all she ever does is talk about mineral water and shit" (yes, I've heard someone say that last one and believe themselves, they had also completely finished vento aureo when theyd said that)

Alright number one, yeah, at first even I thought she came off as a bit entitled and wasn't a fan of her. She annoyed me in the beginning a bit, but I didn't care. Why? SHES 15!!! She's legitimately a fifteen year old girl, what do you expect?? She was living a normal life (or as much of a normal life as she could) before all the shit with team Bucciarati, the entire structure of her life and everything that was normal to her up until that point was just ripped away because of a man she didn't even know.

Second, she does come off a bit rude in the beginning, but Abbachio is rude in a similar manner to the gang (expect bruno, not to mention he behaves the same way throughout the entire show) and you don't say anything????? That's probably just misogyny. Even if you do have a problem with her rudeness, she CHANGES. she changes, she ends up as a caring, determined, and most importantly LOYAL character. She opened up to Bruno, telling him that she's scared to meet her dad, that she's anxious and doesn't know what to do with herself. She's shown to care for Narancia during grateful dead's attack, using the ice provided to try and slow his againg process to be best of his abilities. She winds up joking with Mista later in the show, even If she'd previously shown disgust at being body-swapped with him, she got over it! She got over it and joked with him about it in the end, and they became closer. I could go on about all the times she's shown to be more than a mean and bratty teen, but these are just the examples I can think of off the top of my head.

Third, how, genuinely how, is Trish a "badly written" character? She's not flat, she's not a one-dimensional character, she has personality. There are many instances in which she's shown to be so much more than just the "mean girl" type of character. She's shown to have emotion. We've seen her scared and anxious, we've seen her happy and joyful, we've seen the determination she shows when she declares she wants to find out about her past, we've seen her be so much more than just a character who hides and needs to be protected or helped constantly. It's been shown straight to our faces, yet you blatantly deny it?? You don't try to understand her character at all??????

In conclusion, Trish Una is more than dudebro misogynistic jojo fans say she is. She is shown to be caring and have many other emotions several times, and I'm tired of people pretending we haven't. I love Trish, and I hope you do too.

Mr peabody literally deserves WAYYYY more than what he gets in the movie. Dont get me wrong, i love the “im a dog too” scene, and sherman was right (besides the “the only mistake is me”, BOY YOURE THE THING THAT MAKES HIM HAPPY, HE LOVES U SM SHUT UP), but they still treated him SO BAD.

First things first, all the bad things that happened in the movie was all PENNYS FAULT. She acted like a bitch at the start and then just like a spoiled brat right after. I can admit that she redeemed herself to a part in the final part of the movie, alright, but besides that FUCK PENNY. NEITHER HER OR HER PARENTS APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT SHE DID. (I actually dont hate her that much okay, i just hate what she did to all lf them).

Second thing is the whole plot of “independent sherman” shit. Like alright, hes seven, he can do a lot of stuff himself in that age. BUT PEABODY WAS RIGHT WITH PROTECTING HIM FROM STUFF. Like the airplane scene?? Peabody was right to be mad at sherman for trying to fly a plane that was ANCIENT, WAS A PROTOTYPE, and again SHERMAN AND PENNY WERE 7!! And let me tell you, i know its basically not shermans fault, its PENNYS FAULT AGAIN, and i can understand why he was upset that his father was upset with him but STILL. MR PEABODY WAS RIGHT.

Following to that, again. All the protecting shit was right. Sherman was a little kid and even tho hes smart, hes naive. AND SEVEN. And even if that wasnt playing a role, peabody was walking on thin ice. People wanted to take sherman away from him because “oh my god hes a dog he cant raise a boy”. And of course, irl it would be more difficult since i dont think theyd be that easy on mr. P, but ITS A MOVIE. A CARTOON. STOP BEING JUDGEMENTAL SHITHEADS. Hes a better father than some human fathers are istg.

And the last thing of course, basically the same thing as above. Some people were treating him so bad just because hes a dog. Like cmon, without him you wouldnt have world peace. (AND ZUMBA, WHO DOESNT LVOE ZUMBA??). Especially pennys parents. Or more like her father. Bettys nice, she actually talked her husband down from a lot of things. But like all peabody wanted was for penny and sherman to come home safely, but NOOO, everything went to shit and whose fault is that?? PEABODYS OF COURSE, because hes a dog and every mistake he makes is SO FATAL. Like cmon people, stop that. He just tried to fix all of it.

So in conclusion, i love mr peabody and sherman movie, and im IN LOVE WITH MR PEABODY. HES SO NICE AND HE DESERVES THE WHOLE WORLD.

i think normal and scary would be a pretty laidback couple, they wouldnt really have like regimented chores or anything, theyre more the type to clean as they go. normal definitely loves doing any task he even vaguely thinks scary needs done gbfgdfhjfhgjd they couldnt have assigned chores even if they wanted to because normal would just look at their chart and go. "hmmm. scary is on lawn mowing this week. scary had a bad day today though so i will mow the lawn for her <3" every single time. and then scary would get way into doing the chores for a few days to make up for it. normal does her chores for her as a thanks. rinse and repeat

when theyre both home, theyd definitely be clingy but like. quietly clingy. theyre not constantly talking to each other or anything, but theyre usually in the same room and the same space doing their own thing. if scary gets up and walks to another room, then normal picks up his stuff and follows. if normal gets up to go make dinner, then scary casually finds herself sitting at the kitchen island. they almost always go to bed at the same time and if one of them goes and isnt followed, then they are pouting at the other person when they finally turn in for the night. i also think theyd both struggle to sleep alone after the first year or so of living together, especially scary

i think normal would be like henry and mercedes in that he would want just like, several pets. and scary would love having "strange or creepy" pets, so i think they would like, start with rodents, but normal would get sad about how short their lifespans are. so then theyd start keeping snakes instead!! they wouldnt get too exotic, i think they would stick with beginner level snakes - im imagining a ball python? - but they both take the care of it Very Very Seriously. they originally plan on starting with one and getting more, but then they get super attached to their first snake. they both treat it like their child, it is so so spoiled, and sparrow and rebecca refer to it as their grandchild

as for actual kids, im a lil torn on if theyd end up having kids? on one hand, i feel like both of them would lean more towards like... we dont want to carry our family strife on further, we're happy with just us and our snake, we'll be fine. on the other hand, i think normal is family-orientated and that scary would really like the idea of taking in a troubled teenager and trying to turn their life around. so im waving my hands and going ehhh i dont think they would have kids as adults, but if they did, they would adopt an older kid/teenager :]

Please don’t apologize, I’d love to listen to you scream about them! I’ve been thinking about what good siblings they could have been in another life too because canon makes me sad. Almiria and McGillis are two extremely important facets to IBO’s overall commentary on the exploitation of children, and they and the place their dynamic has in that commentary doesn’t get nearly enough attention. But that’s a whole other post! Happy thoughts:

Gaelio definitely affectionately bullies Almiria, but I feel like she’s the sibling that everyone gets along with. She’s the baby, and she’s so sweet, they all can’t help but love her. I feel like she’s also down for all kinds of chaos though. Climbing trees with Carta, playing pranks with Gaelio, just reading with McGillis, she’s down for any of it! She also definitely forces them all to participate in play tea parties. Also I don’t know why, but I feel like she’d wind up reading a lot of plays and would rope the others into acting those plays out with her.

I spend too much time thinking about them getting to just do silly sibling things. He’s definitely the one Almiria goes to if she’s being affectionately bullied by Gaelio or if she’s having problems with others not taking her seriously, and I also feel like he’d be her favorite to talk to. She’d have the philosophical questions you only get from a kid her age and McGillis would just answer completely seriously. I think he’d be a very introverted kid, also the most level-headed and practical about things. But if they can rope him into plotting a prank, it’s going to be THE most well-planned prank in history.

Almiria is such a lovely character and she didn’t deserve all that trauma, and I genuinely think that if McGillis had been able to accept their love, it would have saved him. In my version of the happy AU, either McGillis is just adopted by the Bauduins, or Iznario is actually a good person who took one look at the traumatized blond child, adopted said kid, and proceeded to be the best father ever. Newly adopted McGillis is like a feral cat learning to accept all this affection, but once he knows he’s safe and loved, he thrives.

pluto straight up doesn't care about the NSS or proto's commands. they came down into the crater to scavenge, attacked octavio cause they wanted to tear apart and sell his mech, and is basically motivated by the same "i want the treasure" mindset as Deep Cut

unlike deep cut, they have a horrorboros as a partner. they dont fight deep cut so much as they launch booyah bombs until they yield

it's splatlands culture to fight people, shows that you respect them enough to consider them a threat, but also asserts that you're stronger than them and could kick their ass

they are Very offended when the NSS just start USING the treasure that THEY earned, especially when it gets so damaged by the fuzzy ooze that it's basically unsaleable. theres a dramatic moment of proto being like "why the hell are you mad we literally got this to save gramps" and pluto being like "WE??? kid you didnt do shit and i dont care about your grandpa. fuck off and let me do my thing"

EPIC GAMER LOSER BF AND GIRLBOSS/GIRLFAIL GF COMBO. idk if it makes sense but they're like. hs sweethearts that never actually got together in hs and only realized it later when they reconnect or something that they're so totally in love. also he's just so damn goofy it balances out her more serious side that took over after her failed rebellion attempt at kimisaki. like he'd start calling her his favourite trouble maker if he heard that story. OOOOUUU MAYBE HE'D EVEN START CALLING HER ANGIE AND SHE NEARLY CRIES BC NO ONE CALLS HER THAT ANYMORE BESIDES HER BROTHER. idk they're sweet.

the first time they do it together, they're both so awkward that it's funny but they're so comfy with each other that it isn't a problem. in my mind, mako tries to lead at first but when it gets too hot and heavy, anzu takes charge. they seem like the most realistic couple out there with the least amount of angst~

okay now to talk about Makoto's gaming buddy with her instead HFDSF. i feel like this anzu ship is a lil underrated. i personally love it. he has canonically given in to her like 🥺 face. they're relationship is basically jun teasing her and anzu pouting until he feels bad and it's cute. moon and sun vibe. also. jun is in eden/eve. he has money he's not spendin on himself. he may not give the most lavish gifts or even the most gifts in terms of anzu ships, but he does buy her little trinkets and stuff. more often than not though he's just paying for her meals. even with gatekeeper cash and the anzu fund made in the graduation story, he's not letting her spend a cent if she doesn't have to. if questioned he'd just be like "Haaah? Ain't it rude to make the lady pay?" but in reality he just wants to spoil her. the entirety of trickstar is gonna start questioning her though if they notice they're getting close. And i bet ibara is going to investigate why half of eve is meddling with the competition's producer.

their first time is spontaneous. they never talked before hand about it or whatever. it probably was them destressing from a hard day at work. PERSONALLY- i think they did it in the ES gym~ and god anzu was so scared theyd get caught. BOTH of them know Ibara goes down to the gym after work but luckily a meeting ran long or something because by the time they were done and dressed, they could just pass it off as training when ibara walked in.

okay this is definitely a rare one- but a ship ive grown fond of the more i thought about it. meru and anzu are both work oriented, but still a little silly deep down. so when they relax and get to know each other, they find the others presence so calming. he admires her for her work ethic and she does the same. god im pulling out the first idol story interactions with this one as well- he let his guard down near completely when they first meet. and he says something like "like attracts like" or something like they're kindred spirits and that he's fallen for her. that last part was probs just his attempt at joking fanservice, but he is aware that he could easily pull anyone he wants to. for anzu to just talk normally with him, he thinks it's refreshing and honestly- being in a unit like crazyb, he would want someone calm like her to be around.

here's the big catch though: meru would never risk kaname's idol image by dating ANYONE. let alone the person known as "everyones producer." so this ship is BUILT for "at arms length" pining/"we'll never know what could've been" angst

their first time is the most planned out of all three of these ships. not on anzu's side, but himerus. meru is really meticulous with his image and he respects anzu. so if he's going to do something with her, he's going to do it right and make sure they have the most privacy possible. it's def something that happens after a VERY romantic date. possibly an anniversary. he gets incredibly intimate. maybe he'd even start talking in first person. this is, after all, not a performance for anyone. he just wants to share this moment with anzu. that being said they go on for a long ass time because meru has stamina and anzu can get insatiable if teased long enough.

but when the twins come around, they get their shit together much more, which means o benefits SO much less from it. she's a wonderful big sister BUT WHY IS THE ATTENTION NOT ALL ON HER!!!! she's totally the one who gives out the gifts too once she's old enough to be able to read their names. and she goes "ughhh papa this is for YOU" as she disgruntledly slides over charles' (very expensive!?!!) gift to pierre across the living room floor. she only cries about presents the first year she's no longer The Only One but you're so right that she becomes full Big Sister mode and learns that she should share w her lil bro & sis <3 So Generous, Queen!!!

officially reached the part of zestiria where things have begun to minute-to-minute Make No Sense. there remains an overarching feeling of intrigue; I continually wonder what Big Facts will later be revealed + how much sense they will force all these Smaller Nonsense Moments to make.

Interesting (!):

the latest No-Sense Event (after the wind trial. have any of you guys played this game? you should play it; i'm not spoiling shit.) put forth a Very Specific Themes Concept that the game hasn't really gotten into at all until now! DOES it immediately strike me as something that's gonna boil down to the perennial Tales favorite "if you exist you have the right to live your life"? ya. WILL it execute this with anywhere near the clarity of purpose of abyss, or with as much nuance as berseria? ABSOLUTELY NOT, I DON'T THINK.

there's a recurring Thing with this game, where. especially having played berseria already! it's STUNNINGLY clear that the Stage of the Writing Process they made it to for zestiria's story is, like. "alpha edits," pretty much. they gathered up all the Themes Characters and Facts they wanted to use and they dumped them on a big table and kinda organized them loosely into like, "here's what the story is pretty much like." + then after that they SUPER ran out of time.

the moment-to-moment character writing (which can be done at like a fully A+ level on-the-fly as long as the characters are coherent + the writer is practiced at it!) is above average in a major way and there are a million beautiful glimmering pieces of what COULD serve as useful and interesting Elements of a larger plot. but so far it looks like they stopped there without using most of those / iterating on what they already had!

(apparently this game was made with the 20th anniversary of Tales in mind as a release deadline? btwn that and how hard they went with overhauling the combat system, it makes a Lot Of Sense that 1. it is kind of a beautiful mess and 2. berseria, which iterated on stuff it introduced, is Way more polished.)

overall this game feels like a. toybox made with some questionable design choices but a lot of elements that make it catch your eye&brain? that's FULL of toys i extremely want to and will play with, but they ARE very much just kind of dumped in there w/ not a whole lot of regard for. organization. kind of a nicely-contained pile of a game. still probably The funniest video game i have ever played. localization & voice direction are excellent; rose is in a league of her own re: characterization-by-manner-of-speaking (THEY LET HER BE SO CASUAL.... SHE TALKS LIKE PEOPLE; I LOVE HER) & they put allllll their Cringe Points into 1 character for containment purposes (tidy!).

the stuff it tried to do w/ the arenas for fights being 1-to-1 with the environment you walk around in actually fucks severely (+ has led to many cherished Comedy Moments, such as "3 elephants stuck in a doorway getting hit by my sword at once") and i wish theyd tried to solve it by making the CAMERA work with it, instead of by hollowing out the overworld environments so there wouldn't be chokepoints to get stuck on anymore (berseria), bc the environment design is ALSO probably the best i've seen in a tales game?

just. not even "rough around the edges" as in "there's good in here but sometimes it Hurts me" but something more like "box of unpolished rocks i love to rattle around and open and pick up and enjoy but if you're expecting 'presentable collection on a shelf' or whatever you will not find it here"..... i like this game!!!

Reggio emilio is a town in italy wjere a man there came up with this idea for preschools and kindergartens- where the teacher observes the kids carefully to figure out what interests them, and then tesches them that. But instead of teaching, its more like she sets the table with the stuff for them to use to explore and create. Threre are a few major issues. Number 1, this method is not scientifically proven to be of any benefit whatsoever. And its meant for kids up to the age of six. Even thohgh israel created elementary schools with this method. Number 2, this fosters kids with a lack of discipline. This looks like spoiled brat syndrome, but it really effects theor pearning. Because most things in the beginning are hard. And most kids dont like hard things. Reading is hard, most kids need to be forced to practice reading. Discipline to do something that u might not enjoy is important. Number 3, an important thing about social ques that kids need to survive is matching others around them. That if everyone is sitting in the circle, im giing to sit in the circle too. Its like if a car infront of me is going around the road, im gonna do that too, even if i dont see the reason. When kids have so much pressure tk be individual, they lose some of thid skill. Tberes a lack of this. Its the number one social skill that seperates kids from autistic kids.

Sometimes your passion in life finds you. I dont tell most people this, but this past year, I volunteeted every sunday at a center for old people with mental health issues. We're talking schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, tourettes, adhd, stuff that for these people is severe enough that they cant work at most jobs and qualify for these services. I helped run a cooking class for them. Its funny because im a peanut butter sandwich type of person, but i did it with a Morracan woman who knows what shes doing in the kitchen. I just love them so much. I want that job. Its empathy and patience that i have.

Where do i want to stand in tzniys. First and formost, dont be offensive. After that, the thing is to cloth yourself. Where material on ur thight. The crtch is problematic so wear tunic or dress. every time someone tries to get someone else to start fate by saying “just watch it in the correct order. start with Fate/Zero :)” Something in me dies. Ive had to tweet about it so many times. There is no series i will ever have nerd rage of this caliber over other than fate. reading fate/stay night changed the way i engage with media and feel about storytelling and writing and all that stuff and its like Why would you ever want someone to spoil all of the coolest twists in fate/stay night by watching zero. it literally spoils like ALL of them. (by the way, gil’s introduction and reveal with him coming out of nowhere is what cemented him as one of my firm favorites. he’s so cool!!!!) And i know the answer. Because no one plays the VN. Because no one ever plays visual novels and theyd rather just flick on an anime. Because for some god awful reason there is no definitive adaptation that cleanly allows you to digest the fate stay night routes !!!!!!!!!! and reading the fucking thing will take you forever !!!!!!!!! and it’s so terribly inaccessible!!!!!! i probably wouldn’t have played it if my sister didn’t already jump through the hoops for me !!!!!!

people who are fate fans and talk about how good unlimited blade works or heavens feel are two starkly different groups depending on if they watched it or read it because they are genuinely two completely different things. don’t get me wrong i Love Love LOVE the heavens feel movies and i doubt they could have done them all too much better (ubw however… ) BUT the thing is fate RELIES on shirou’s internal monologuing and narration and SO much is lost when you have to transfer all of that from writing to screen. even with the english patch translation purportedly being less than ideal i was still out here getting my heartstrings played with by the writing.

anyway i forgot what i was even getting mad about everyone should sit down and drain away a week or so reading through all of fate stay night. and then they can truly earn the incomparable experience of cry watching today’s menu for the emiya family. that is all.

supplementary edit: i used to read through fate stay night together with my sister every day in the late afternoon and it became such a great ritual for us. it was some of the best times of my life and if you’re going to read it and have a likeminded friend who can just sit there and chill out for like an hour with you it makes all the crazy moments so much more fun. because you probably are here to read my rant despite not playing the vn. i remember i had a little text file on my phone we’d update every time we learned the identity of a new servant or master and id be sitting there using my love for mythology trying to figure out their identities. there was such a delightful satisfaction when finished the stay night route and unlimited blade works and got to begin the next one. i’d give up a lot to relive those days, i think.

i started watching twin peaks again, for the umpteenth time, i have a few scattered impressions i want to share, ultimately i think thats the best thing to take away from lynches work anyway. first of all sarah palmers grief is the best depiction of grief ever televised, no other performance comes close, its not just her acting, its the direction and writing as well, im reffering specifically to when shes being interviewed by sheriff truman in the first episode. the way shes completely distracted, you can see her thoughts on her face being pulled towards the dark precipice of loss, her face is contorted with pain, she sobs, and then shes back to answering questions in a distracted dream like way, she hones in on meaningless details, its really perfect and true to life. another thing i wanted to mention that i hadnt noticed before, is when agent cooper first goes to inspect lauras body, and to check her fingernail, the flourescent lights are flickering and the doctor or mortician who works there says “sorry about the lights, bad transformer” and in season three there is a black shape that represents something evil, a circle with two ear like triangles at the top. pylons menacing in the final episode of season three, and the shape can resemble a pylon, evil pylons? bad transformers? e lec tri ci ty? who knows there might be something there. love micheal ontkeans performance as sherrif truman, he brought something to the role that micheal forrester wouldnt have, and i love micheal forrester, there is a mysterious depth to him, he is at the same time a simple everyman, and an enigma. similarly i feel that season 3 of twin peaks was largely about season 1 and 2 of twin peaks in a meta sense, in the early episodes agent cooper has a very distinct and pronounced edge to him, he antagonizes bobby brigs in a gleeful jeering way during his interrogation, he treats dr jacoby with unmistakable contempt upon first meeting him and many more examples, i understand thats part of being an FBI agent but as the show progresses and especially when david lynch left the show during season 2 dale cooper is flanderized as this constantly positive pie eating machine, this is what the dougy jones plot was about, not just that theyd made cooper something he wasnt, but that the fans of the show latched onto all these superficial things, like pie and coffee and thumbs up when thats not what makes the show interesting and he still did all that shit when literally retards were running the show during season 2. also the final episode of season three speaks to what i was talking about, i wont spoil it, but coopers behavior was the subject of much speculation, i wonder if you showed these fans early season one coooper if final episode coopers behavior would have been so jarring.
