Listened to episode 47 "Into The Depths" again and I am having Thoughts... this might call for another essay, but for now, consider: how similar Kepler and Minkowski sound when they say "right the hell now".
#they're the same character in different fonts and I love it#it's so weird considering i hate kepler and minkowski... well you can probably tell how i feel about minkowski#need to write more about their parallels#and then when you bring jacobi into it and consider how jacobi and minkowski hate each other#but also understand and confide in each other...#ugh there's so much there#ALSO. minlace.#need to write ANOTHER essay about their interactions in ep. 47#or maybe just a ramble#i think that was when i started shipping them#either that or ep. 50#i have. so many thoughts.#wolf 359#warren kepler#renee minkowski#minkowskiposting

jackie (or at least my version of him in this case) is very similar to vash the stampede.
people think he's the most terrifying thing ever (kinda true, but most of it is anti) and he's wanted for various crimes, but he's actually the silliest kindest little guy you've met
#chase.ramblings#jse.ramblings#and despite all the bs he goes through he is still kind#they're like the same character but in very different fonts to me#also i based jackie's design off him too#jackie deserves a big fun coat <3#if you have no clue who vash is jsut look up a picture of him#please look at him i love him dearly#i was just in the mood to talk about jackie don't mind me#jackieboy man

Dean Winchester's
“Dad, I called you from Lawrence. Sam called you when I was dying. Getting you on the phone? I got a better chance of winning the lottery!”
to Fiona Gallagher's
“[Dad] told me to take the boys and sit on the curb and he'd be right back. I was six. Few hours later, we're still sitting on the sidewalk, and Ian's head is burning up (...) So I ran down the street, Lip under one arm, Ian under the other, trying to flag down help. Would've been easier scoring crack than a ride to the clinic. I finally made it on foot. They said Ian had a fever of a hundred and four. Another couple of hours, who knows? I didn't find [dad] until a couple of days later. First thing he asked me? Was how much money I had on me.”

I did it, I'm done!!! I finished what is probably one the coolest projects I have ever done and it turned out SO COOL, I'm so excited!!! Everyone come look at it cause I made a fucking killjoys shirt collection!!!
Everyone of the Fab Four got their own type of shirt that I think fits them and they're all the same concept (logo on the back, name in the front, most of the design in their color plus some smaller detail in another color that's kind of in their pallet (taken from their ray guns), words associated with the character) but the font and placement of the writing changes and all that and I really love that they obviously belong together but still look so different!
Also fun fact it took fucking FOREVER to paint Ghoul cause it's sooo many lines and painting lines takes so much time cause you can't just carefully draw a sharp edge and then quickly fill in the rest (like for example Jet's logo) because basically everything is edge! And the design for Kobra's name? Such a pain in the ass, there's so many sketches that were all scrapped. Like in total it took me maybe one and a half to two hours to come up with all of the designs, except for Kobra's stupid fucking name, I kept going back to it for literal weeks!! But honestly so worth it, it turned out exactly as I wanted and just all in all feels very Kobra to me
(As for the different shades of blue/green on Jet's and Ghoul's shirts... The shirts have been done for a while and were lying around my room without being folded or anything, so that's just folds and light reflections, the colors are actually very even)
#I had so much fun making these but I'm also really happy they're done now#I spent two weeks on these (there were several days where I did nothing tho) that's fucking enough#worth it tho#id in alt text#my art#danger days#the true lives of the fabulous killjoys#diy#mcr merch#party poison#jet star#fun ghoul#kobra kid#tagging a lot today cause I'm really proud of these and I kind wanna show them off and share my excitement

prefacing this 4am tipsy ramble by stating that i believe bucktommy have endgame potential. that said. i'm of the opinion that the breakup was NECESSARY bc building on top of fragile foundations is only delaying/worsening the inevitable collapse. their relationship was not dysfunctional by any means, but it was admittedly surface-level. again the execution was pisspoor, but 806 highlighted bucktommy's biggest issues: a lack of communication, a superficial understanding of each other and opposite responses to stressors. neither of them attempted to redefine the initial parameters set in 705 (exploring something undefined, formless) even when their relationship clearly evolved past them. that is until buck had his questionable epiphany. point is neither of them wanted to disturb the status quo (having an effortless, uncomplicated good time together) so they didn't really attempt to know each other beyond the carefully curated facades they present (bc they're both complicated, troubled individuals with deep-rooted abandonment issues they'd rather not address.. same fears different font).
yes, buck is comfortable with tommy (his most authentic self, even, accepting of care unlike the way he behaved with previous SOs (masks my beloved <3)) — but he's not at ease (or in tune) with his sexuality yet, and frankly he's unprepared for the reality of committing to a man. so unprepared he didn't even consider it until josh led him to the realization that tommy could in fact become more than Cool Suave Boyfriend. yes, tommy wanted to be buck's last, but he never gave buck a fair chance: he had already unilaterally decided that he was nothing but buck's introduction to Men. a defeatist mindset that doomed them from day 1.
the good thing is that lacking communication can be easily resolved with a willingness to open up dialogue (versus the tidbits of information they shared before deflecting with Horny). buck and tommy didn't part because of irreconcilable differences/conflicting aspirations (taylor), or incompatible lifestyles (ali) or because they were attracted to each other for the wrong reasons (natalia). if anything tommy is a foil for abby, the other great transformative love of buck's life: they both entered a relationship with buck aiming for casual, just fun with an expiration date with the eager younger guy, except tommy actually fell in love with buck. except tommy wants to be his last. except tommy nearly reached out after the split but ultimately chose not to. we were shown the bubbles. that was DELIBERATELY emphasized: both parties have regrets.
i LIKE the breakup bc it could be exactly what they need individually to come back together as a stronger, cohesive unit. it could be the opportunity to reassess, reevaluate, correct.
now i have my (strongly worded) opinions abt the #letbuckfuck spiel.. but hell, i think seeing buck temporarily regress to past behavior could be interesting, if only to cement the fact that he's not cut out for aimless hookups. frustrating to watch, yes; a disservice to his character, certainly; but it could serve a purpose. multiple ones, even:
1. offer the opportunity to actually address buck's bisexuality and the hangups he harbors. reaffirm to the audience that buck is still very much so attracted to women (yeah we know how bisexuality works but the 70 yo liberal watching 9-1-1 on network television might still be a bit confused). confirm that buck's queerness exists outside of his relationship with tommy. that he's still queer when he's in a m/f relationship. have him state in no uncertain term that he likes men, plurals; that he does in fact identify with the bi label. bc labels are descriptive and helpful and unifying, they're the basis of community, and he shouldn't escape internalized/external negative connotations surrounding bisexuality by taking refuge in undefined
2. as previously stated, a string of failed flings can reassert the fact that buck craves emotional, romantic intimacy more so than carnal pleasure. that casual romps might be very enjoyable in the moment but are ultimately unsatisfying for a man that flourishes when he's in love and is loved in return. that buck doesn't feel the need to revert back to a previous version of himself (one he dislikes today) just because he missed out on having sex with another demographic in his younger years. i could even see buck internalizing what tommy said/what buck heard (what if he's right? what if i'm blinded by excitement? what if i need to fuck my way through a lineup of different men to figure out what i really want? can i really trust myself about this when i spent 3 whole decades in the dark?) and feeling vindicated when he reaches the same conclusion he did back in 806: buck knows his own mind. he's not a clueless child. impulsivity doesn't imply idiocy.
3. tommy is no longer buck's only man. his judgement is not clouded by novelty. and that doesn't change anything. he's still the guy buck wants to build a future with. buck spends months tentatively dipping his toes back in the dating scene without success because he keeps comparing everyone to his ex. there: renewed conviction, absolute certainty. passivity is finally abandoned.
i'm focusing on buck bc he's my beloved blorbo and the main character, but tommy could use some introspection as well — and some room for grace. seeing a character so terrified of being hurt he once denied himself a solid shot at love ultimately chase after his happiness is so delectable to me. there's no reward without work, no victory without effort, no battle won without risk etc etc. let tommy gain the family he longs for, let buck prove tommy is worth keeping, worth fighting for.
i'm losing steam here. it's been said before and i'll say it again: tommy slots perfectly in buck's life. he's been fundamental to buck's growth long before they even met, a pivotal figure in his journey to Self Actualization, linked to literally everyone buck cares about. they're so compatible, so complementary, so narratively intertwined it'd be ridiculous to leave bucktommy languishing in the '6 months lovers' category.
the material for endgame is there. there for grabs. but the showrunners might not grab it bc they see no value in that potential story??? which is so preemptively frustrating it's driving me insane with anticipated annoyance. please timothy do not fumble this gold mine you (accidentally?) stumbled upon
#bellinis + bt brain rot do Not mix well#will revisit with a clearer mind bc i could yap yap yap abt them forever#if this makes no sense sgain: i'm inebriated#bucktommy#rima.txt

Thinking about how Salem sparking an uprising against the Gods and uniting humanity under one goal is eerily familiar to Ozpins view on Ruby being a simpler more honest soul that can spark the hopes of man.
Both reading stories and being inspired to lead their lives off it. Putting their message out to the world and the people answering back. Their actions are the same but in different fonts.
Their imagery is even eerily familiar, most notable in mind being consumed by water, the cliffside/memorials, and both having parts of one of the Brothers powers within, moon symbolism, etc.
Ruby and Salem are building up to be foils of light and dark.
"Likeminded souls indeed"
Like of course Oscar is heavily implied to have a crush on Ruby. They're two characters who are a version of Oz and Salem without their history.
DING DING DING DING DING!!!! EXACTLY!!! This show is one about parallels, rhymes, and mirrors and these four are at the heart of all of it.
I also think it's really interesting that the task the GoL gives to Ozpin is to unite humanity when that's... kind of exactly what Salem did, only she was punished for it? smh. god forbid women do anything.
But anyway, I love that Ruby has taken over Oz's role in that regard. One of my favourite shots in the show that pushes this is this one from The Lost Fable. Where the line right before it says something like: "In time, (Salem) would find her adversary."
The story Jinn tells to cast is one of Ozma being setup to stop Salem, but the story the show is telling us, the audience, is that Ozma walks off screen revealing Ruby as Salem's actual adversary.
There's also some interesting allusion stuff that pushes this even further with Salem being the witch from the Two Brother's fairy tale that is killed by a silver bullet, and Ruby is a "girl who is also a gun" with silver eyes. But to talk more about the SEW stuff, I have to address the celestial symbolism you pointed out.
What you say about "foils of light and dark" is also right on the money. The way these four interact as symbols within the central plot is so poetic. We have Salem as the darkness of night, and then Ruby as the moon. Silver eyes, as Maria explains in V6, "shine like mirrors, reflecting the light of the world onto darkness". But silver eyes don't just reflect the light of the world, they reflect the desire to preserve life onto that which threatens to take it away. Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun.
Isn't it just. So. Interesting. That the person the story is telling us Ruby is most afraid to lose... is Oscar Pine... a sun coded character? So!!! Interesting!!! I'm so!!! Normal about it!!!!!!!!
By extension of this, I do think Oz is generally symbolized by Daytime. A lot of the songs seem to use "days" as a placeholder for each lifetime (or generation) as a "new day" to try again. It also works in the sense that daytime bring sunshine and his curse is what brings Oscar, this generations "sun", into the fray. Additionally, works as a perfect contrast to Salem's night and her frustration that he keeps coming back over and over again.
or tl;dr you know it's bad when i start making diagrams ooh boy
Anyway, yeah, it makes complete and utter sense why Ruby and Oscar are setup as they are with just how central they are to the main plot. This story is one about breaking cycles, so having those two have a successful version of the Ozma and Salem situation is just the most natural way for this to go.

Every single day I think more and more about how the Grey's Anatomy writers fortuitously wrote one of the most poetic relationships to ever exist. And it's a travesty that they don't seem to understand that despite the unchanged popularity of this ship.
They are two completely contrasting characters with the same brand of edgy just in different fonts, and they match each other's energies like no one does. And what I love the most about them is how it's their flaws, not their strengths, that drive their dynamic.
She's fire and he's air. At first glance, that seems like a recipe for disaster. But it isn't when they are both shielded by each other. She ignites his spirits, and he uplifts her. Without her, he's a calm, cool breeze. But with her, he's an ever-changing current with power and warmth. Without him, she's a fiery spark subdued by the world, but with him, she becomes an intense flame ablaze with passion. And when this current and fire get out of control, guess what has the ability to contain and ground them by drawing back their catalyst? Each other!!!
April makes Jackson passionate and forces him to dream bigger. It may be mistaken for impulsivity, but she just stops him from taking the safe roads in life and forces him to live life fully on his terms. On the other hand, Jackson grounds her and provides a safe place for her to truly be herself. He's the only person who ever does that for her. Not man. Person! Not even her family provides that space for her. And that is why she becomes independent and sure of herself with his influence.
Some people justify hating them by saying they would be happier with other people. Don't even get me started! Those two would be miserable with other people. April is so spirited that she would be instantly desolate with anyone other than Jackson because she needs someone who can keep up with her and feed into her positivity. Jackson seems so calm on the outside, but in reality, he is often so turbulent that he would be completely bored with anyone else cause he needs someone who can keep him on his toes and anchor him at the same time.
The only reason that they fell apart after losing Samuel was because that grief made them forget that they couldn't be truly happy without the balance they provided each other. April ran towards something passionately without Jackson, and lost her stability and fire, and Jackson wanted to drift away from her and live calmly, but ended up becoming morbid and dispirited without her. You can literally feel how drained and colourless they become without each other.
Their relationship isn't supposed to make perfect sense because the unpredictability of life influence it, but their dynamic certainly does. And that is why those two keep going back to each other. Sure, they would be fine by themselves. But they're at their best with each other. So basically, they mirror each other, and make up for each other's limitations so they could be the happiest version of themselves. They are each other's spark and tether all at once. And that is why Shonda Rhimes will probably never create a more dynamic ship.
#not me writing an essay about them in 2024#this stuff makes up about 40% of my inner monologue#japril#jackson avery#april kepner#greys anatomy

ava has an issue with characters' driving forces
this post does have spoilers for the new episode, so i'll put this all under a "read more"
disclaimer goes away after a week, i will edit this post so be warned
there's a trend i've noticed when it comes to the main antagonists of ava and avm. theres a common theme amongst all of the villains (i'm counting second and chosen, since they are technically antagonists per ava season 1). let's explore this.
case 1: king orange
it's obvious that the thing motivating king to take over the bastion and get the minecraft icon is the fact that he lost his kid, and to an extent the kid's other guardian (wife, husband, s/o, pick your favorite); he creates a literal black hole in order to see his kid again because of an incident he couldn't control. not to mention king orange also lost purple's trust, and their support as a whole, which further emphasizes the loss of his son given that purple was a second chance, and he messed it up by losing sight of their relationship. this is something that king orange couldn't willingly control.
case 2: purple
purple experiences two kinds of loss: death and abandonment. obviously lapis (regular blue) abandons the family because they didn't approve of orchid (pink) coddling their child, something that purple couldn't control. then purple has to live with the fact that their only other parent is dying to some unforeseen reason, likely illness, and that too is something that they couldn't control.
case 3: second
second is more interesting, because it's something that gets glossed over. they're the antagonist in ava 4 up until the very end, and why does second do the things they do? because they lost their friends to something (someone; alan) they couldn't control and this is repeated in showdown; second watches dark kill their friends because of dark's own spite and hatred, which i will cover next. that is something second cannot control
case 4: dark
i think dark is a really good example of this trend; they were made to attack chosen and lost control, ultimately losing and teaming up with chosen to work against alan. then they convinced chosen to go on a conquest to essentially take over the world, which ends in dark losing chosen's trust and support as a friend due to beliefs that dark couldn't control (chosen's own morals)
case 5: chosen
compared to everyone else, chosen experiences loss and the inability to maintain control in different ways. they fought back against alan and, as punishment, was forced to be alan's pop-up window destroyer against their own will, and they can't control it then he does, freeing himself, prompting dark's creation, and eventually befriending dark and teaming up with them to destroy the world. they grew distant, not sharing the same beliefs and reasoning as dark anymore, and directly opposed dark during the virabot sequence. this all leads to chosen and dark fighting during the showdown, which is when chosen ultimately watches second kill their former friend and can't control that
case 6: victim
the whole reason why this post was made is because of victim's whole deal with mitsi. they endured abuse, lost the upperhand in that initial fight with alan, took matters into their own hands and fled the computer then met mitsi, fell in love, started a company together, and they lost her in a situation that they couldn't control, that being chosen and dark destroying newgrounds
if you couldn't notice already, there is something that happens between every single antagonist, and that's the fact that every antagonist has lost something due to circumstances they can't control
obviously the circumstances are different. majority of these antagonists have experienced loss through death, while a handful also experienced loss through losing control, losing free will, so on so forth
"why is this an issue?"
put it this way: every single antagonist is being driven by the same exact thing, just in different fonts
every single major antagonist, in some way, shape, or form, loses something. as a result they are driven to get whatever they lost back, whether it's a loved one or the love of someone that is now gone (or in dark's case, trust).
i personally believe that there was a lot of missed potential within the antagonists, as i'm sure some people think, and i think it's because instead of having characters do things out of spite or out of sheer evil, it's in an attempt to get something back.
the reason i'm saying main antagonists and not villains is because in the case of youtube from animation vs youtube, the corrupt video green in the influencer arc, the pokemon universe in animation vs pokemon, and even the entire animation vs education series, the antagonists aren't going against second and the color gang because they lost someone dear to them or they lost the affection of those around them
case in point: corrupt video green. they were never loved to begin with, and that is what causes them to lash out at the color gang and fight them. everyone turned their back on them because they were imperfect, because they loved other creations more than them
also case in point: animation vs math. euler's identity only combatted second because second was technically the one that invaded their space. they're not trying to bring anyone back to life like king orange was, they were just protecting their territory
my thoughts are a little incoherent right now but i have a point, that being that the antagonists should have another reason to do the things they do that isn't just "oh my wife/son/friend/dad and mom died"

You know what I find amazing? Every single time I hear gwynriels or Eluciens describe their ship, they are describing Elriel. It's amazing. Every time. I don't get it. It's like they switched Elain's name for Gwyn when they read. Or Azriels name for Lucien. But why? Why not like the OG thing. The thing that is actually in the books? Because they will be getting exactly the thing they're asking for, but with Elain and Azriel.
Have you seen this? If you have, why do you think this is? It's just so amazing and inexplicable to me. It makes no sense to me.
Elucien and Gwynriel IS elriel in a different font. They literally just swap out Elain/Az for the characters they like more aka Gwyn and Lucien. Why? If you look at it from Gwynriels perspective: most of them do not like Elain. They find her useless, boring, meek. Why would they ship their fave batboy with such a wallflower? Generally speaking, a popular trope is the “quiet, introverted, moody boy” x “chirpy, extroverted, sunny girl” -> that is not elriel. It does however fit gwynriel. Its a popular dynamic they can HC onto gwynriel. Same with Elucien. Now; w eluciens its not that they’re such big elain fans. Its that for them, mates = happiness. Their baby lulu has been through so much and he deserves his happiness and he’ll achieve that when elain accepts the bond. A popular microtrope for “reluctant engagement/marriage” especially with a ladylike character such as Elain is “sassy, conveniently attractive, foul mouthed man meets the proper, society abiding woman” -> his witty banter makes the proper lady blush and unable to handle herself. Again. It’s not elriel but can be used for elucien. And the reasons these micro/tropes fit is due to the fact Elucien and Gwynriel are so undeveloped you can virtually shape them to be however you like making them more favourable ships when you compare it to elriel - which is developed. They have a canon dynamic, you can’t just place any HC onto them. If I was to say, “omfg I can’t wait for the banter between elriel!” - you’re going to be like…but they’re not a couple that “banters”….thats not how elriel is. But If I was to make the same statement with gwynriel, you can’t really argue against it bcs it can happen between gwynriel. They’re that raw. And considering how far we’re into the series -> its not how Sjm rolls. But thats another discussion. Alternatively, instead of antis not liking elain/azriel - they may ship gwynriel/elucien as it drives the story in a different direction thats more liked by them. For example, with Gwynriel you’ll get more of Nesta, Emerie, H.O.W -> less of feysand and IC. And after acosf and the hatred for the OG cast, this new one in acosf is more liked and people want them to be centre staged. You’re not going to get that with elriel. Same goes for elucien -> less of the NC, IC, feysand and more of other courts and characters eluciens’ find interesting such as Eris. Again, that won’t happen with elriel. I have seen this countless times over all the years. Gwynriel: Gwyn will accept Az for who he is, she won’t be afraid of him or his shadows, she’s going to call his scars beautiful, Az will want to spend time with her, Gwyn will become a spy alongside Azriel and the twins who she will also become friends with, Azriel will get Gwyn such a beautiful Solstice gift, Gwyn will make Az laugh so much like he hasn’t done before, Gwynriel are going to love spending alone time together, gwynriel will help revive the prison, Az will take gwyn flying, their powers are so similar etc etc etc,
I’ll be honest - I haven’t seen eluciens “steal” elriels’ tropes/plot points (I mean they could be, im just not aware of it) aside from saying Elains choice being Lucien is impactful, and now trying to twist the forbidden love trope for elucien instead of elriel….who literally had Rhys stop them and told Az to stay away. I think with eluciens - its that they disregard canon and just go with whatever they want. They don’t take into consideration elains canon characteristics or the plot she’s connected too. They have a vision for elucien which they force onto the couple even if it makes no sense canonically. Lmfao who am I kidding, they don’t gaf about elains canon feelings towards Lucien so why would they care if their Hc/Theories align with elains traits and associations. Its all about Lucien. Their whole plot has Lucien right centre stage with Elain tagging along. Same like Tamlain and gwynriel really.
Thing is - I can’t blame gwynriels for having to be unoriginal and take a lot of “inspiration” from elriel bcs what unique thing can happen between gwynriel? Azriels most impactful moments have already happened with Elain. Take him giving TruthTeller to her. That was a pretty important scene. Monumental for both Az and Elain. If Az was now to give Gwyn TT…it won’t be special or anything new. Its why you often find gwynriels downplaying a lot of elriel moments only to use those same moments for their own ship but showing how its going to be 100x more spectacular.
#did I answer this right? Idk I sidetracked multiple times#elriel#pro elriel#elain archeron#azriel shadowsinger#azriel acosf#gwyn berdara#lucien vanserra#free all 4 characters from antis clutches

Hey does anyone wanna hear my thoughts about how Madarame and Fujieda's routes are essentially the same thing but in a different font????? Huge spoilers for the true route of Slow Damage.
Once I started playing Fujieda's route it struck me how it pretty much followed the same story beats as Madarame's:
Towa is confronted with a relic from his past > Something about it nags at him so he starts poking around > He remembers something from his past > He comes to terms with some aspect of his identity > Confrontation with the Takasato asshole that's been causing issues
But aside from that, both Madarame and Fujieda reflect different aspects of Towa's character. Both of their routes revolve around the idea of meeting someone so similar to you that they might as well be a mirror and the understanding that's born from that. The main difference is what they reflect and the traits they bring out in each other.
Madarame essentially reflects all of the things that Maya made Towa into. When they're together, they reflect and amplify the rougher edges of each of their personalities. Towa's apathy, his recklessness, his impulsivity, and his masochism are the things Madarame considers to be Towa's "true self". They're the parts of Towa that he sees reflected in himself; the parts of them that operate on instinct rather than the norms of society. Madarame loves Towa in his own way, and accepts the "roughest" version of himself, but these aspects of his character are things that Towa became because of Maya's abuse. It ultimately works for them and they find their version of happiness, but the more instinctual Towa that Madarame sought out is a version of Towa who is ruled by his coping mechanisms and survival instincts. To find this happiness (a happiness found in pain and danger), Towa must first be broken and regress back into his trauma. Madarame and Towa reflect each other in a way that enables the worst of their behavior.
Fujieda, on the other hand, reflects everything that Towa is DESPITE Maya's influence. (There is still that aspect of mirroring each other through their trauma and their shared scars is one of the big reasons they begin to connect, but it's more than that.) They reflect each other in their resilience in the way they choose to keep living and their refusal to let their trauma further define them. Both Towa and Fujieda suffer from survivor's guilt and consider suicide, and yet both of them make the difficult choice to keep living to some degree because of the other's influence. They reflect each other in the memory of the girl who gives them both the strength to carry on; someone they loved and lost. They reflect the ugliest and truest parts of themselves, showcased in their negative first interactions early in the game and the literal/metaphorical scars they share. Yet, despite how scared they both are at being confronted with someone so similar, they see the beauty and humanity in each other where they struggle to see it in themselves. Because Fujieda's character mirrors Towa's so closely, he's able to relate deeply to Towa and understand how much of his behavior is an attempt to regain his autonomy and recognizes that he could have very easily ended up the same way. Fujieda loves Towa for who he's managed to become despite Maya's abuse, and it's this mutual understanding that allows them to support each other so thoroughly. Fujieda and Towa reflect each other in a way that ultimately supports a journey to healing and recovery.
Anyway, if you actually read all of that I would love to hear your thoughts because it's been rattling around in my brain for too long!
#i would like to clarify that this is NOT madatowa hate.... i think they're fascinating and i have a deep respect for toxic yaoi#slow damage#towa slow damage#madarame kei#fujieda ryo#surodame#nitro+chiral#analysis?? sorta??#really just me rambling but oh well#edited to better flesh out a few thoughts. also wanted to make it more clear that despite my fascination with the madatowa dynamic#i think towa deserves better and that ultimately if madarame got hit by a bus it would probably be for the best <3#is this conflicting with my earlier statement that this is not mdtw hate? Yes and No. i dont hate mdtw! but i do. but i rlly dont. but i do#idk someone ask me about it i have a lot of conflicting thoughts and emotions

Hi I really love ur metas your jjk ones really made me appreciate the story even more. I was curious about ur analysis on why Gojo is important to Geto.
It's obvious as to why Geto is important to Gojo and how Geto effected him but I don't think it's talked about enough of the reversal
That's a good observation anon, the story makes it less obvious what Geto needs Gojo for, while spending a long time lingering on the tragedy of Geto's loss and what the loss of his only real friend meant for Gojo.
I think part of this is because Geto is a character of deep self-reflection so a lot of his internal narration is about his feelings towards his self and thinking through his own ideals and what that means. Whereas Gojo doesn't really self reflect but he does observe other people. We don't know what Gojo's opinions on a lot of things are, but we know what Geto meant to him because he's much clearer on how he felt towards Geto. Geto's staring into himself trying to figure what he feels personally, Gojo is always staring at other people trying to figure out what they feel.
As for why Gojo means so much to Geto, it's important to remember that they are a duo. They're the same idiot in different fonts. Geto's a much more human character and we are inside his head more often so it's easy to forget that when they were young Geto had the same kind of god / superiority complex that Gojo did.
Geto is associated with religious imagery over and over again, the same way that Gojo is associated with budhist ideals of enlightenment and escaping karma. They are both people who were in their teenage years more powerful than everyone around them, and because of that looked down on everyone.
Even Geto's stated ideals of "protecting the weak" come from a place of superiority. He still divides people mentally into the weak and the strong. The special ones and the common rabble. He sees people the same way Gojo does, he just believes that the strong like him and Gojo have a moral obligation to use their powers responsibly in service of others.
Geto's not more humble than Gojo. Their moral disagreement comes from how they should use the power they've been given, but they both feel that the power they have puts them in a position above other people.
All of this to illustrate the fact that if Gojo felt isolated as a teenager because all the power he had made him feel lonely and unable to connect with others, then so Geto probably felt isolated in the same way too. They each found in each other someone they could finally call their equal. Because of it they gained someone they could be vulnerable around and someone they could trust to watch their back.
The things Geto does for Gojo (check on his feelings when no one else would, go out of his way to reassure him), Gojo does for Geto in return. It's not Geto always taking care of Goo it's a partnership between the two of them where they lean on each other.
When Kuroi is kindapped and Geto immediately falls into a funk and starts to blame himself for his mistake, it's Gojo who reassures him by hurrying him along and telling him they need to focus on planning what they should do next. Gojo knows Geto well enough to know his tendency to get trapped in his own thoughts and gives him the kick in the pants he needs.
In the same scene where Geto checks on Gojo's well-being to make sure he's not overusing his power, Gojo returns the sentiment by reassuring Geto not to worry about him because he won't push himself too hard and that he's not in this alone Geto's here too.
That's probably a big part of it for Geto. Yes, Geto tends to naturally slide into the caretaker role, watching out for Gojo and checking in on him but at the same time Geto probably likes that there is someone who needs him in that way. If Gojo's defined by his lack of connection with other people, Geto's defined by the way he goes out to make connections. It's nice to be needed as they say. The fact that someone as seemingly self-sufficient as Gojo not only relies on Geto a great deal, but lets Geto take care of him is probably a big part of their bond.
Which is probably why Gojo's awakening post Toji is a big part in why they started to grow apart from each other. If Geto likes to live in service to other people, and defines himself by his connection to others he probably interpreted Gojo no longer needing his support on missions and suddenly doing everything by himself as Gojo pulling away from him.
I think a big part in Geto's downfall was the hit he took when one he was defeated by Toji someone without Jujutsu and too, Gojo suddenly became out of his reach. Gojo himself never said that they were no longer the strongest duo, or that they were no longer the strongest together it's all Geto. As I said Geto has as much of a god complex as Gojo does.
He thought they were on the top together, and not only is he suddenly confronted with his own weakness at the exact same time Gojo's become so strong it appears on the surface that he no longer needs anyone's support, especially not Geto's.
Nanami says it out loud, but Geto probably echoes the sentiment. If Gojo is now strong enough to handle every mission on his own then what need does he have for other sorcerers - and Geto in particular? Geto goes from feeling needed in a lot of ways by Gojo who was just as important a friend to him as he was to Gojo to watch Gojo suddenly handle everything alone. In a lot of ways it probably felt like Geto lost Gojo far before the KFC breakup and his defection from Jujutsu High. From Geto's perspective their relationship was over, their partnership broken and Gojo just did not realize it until after the village massacre.
At first Geto had as big of an ego with Gojo, and connected in a special way with him because the two of them were on top together. However, he came to believe that the only reason their partnerhsip worked was because they were both the strongest. When Gojo became the strongest alone Geto believed incorrectly that what they once had was lost and Gojo no longer needed him when Gojo's emotional reaction to Geto's defection shows that's anything but true.
In Geto's mind it is though because he's kind of got the same messed up way of dividing people into strong and weak that Gojo does, he probably just realized that he was one of the weak ones and feared Gojo thinking the same way.
During Geto and Gojo's final confrontation he almost has an inferiority complex about it when he talks about how if he had the limitless he'd easily be able to accomplish what he set out to do.
Until that moment Geto always thought they were equals, but now Geto's suddenly talking like he covets Gojo's power. He suddenly wants to be Gojo, probably because he incorrectly believes that their partnership is base don being equals in power when it's really just a normal friendship.
Which is why the loss of Gojo's friendship affects Geto just as badly as the other way around. Everyone wants to be equals with their friends, especially to a friend as important as Gojo was to Geto.
There's almost a tragic irony in how when speaking of his friendship to Nanako and Mimiko, Geto acts like their friendship ended when Gojo left Jujutsu High. It's their in his death scene too, Geto is surprised by the fact that Gojo has any feelings left for him.
Geto's so insecure over his connection to Gojo he didn't understand that in Gojo's mind they were still friends right up until the very end, and perhaps if he were just a bit more secure they would have been able to reach one another instead of falling apart.

How I think various fairy tail characters would text - part 2
Wendy
- she uses emojis the same way natsu does, not relevant at all to the situation she just thinks they look cute
-🪽🐦🐁🌞🌪️🌳🍃🌸🌺🪻💨🩵<- her faves
- she will almost never use emojis with faces, if she wants to communicate and expression she EXCLUSIVELY uses the cat
- 😺😸😹😻😼😽🙀😿😾
- she types with normal grammar and spelling for the most part but will also just make up a word sometimes to describe shit or just use a random adjective that makes no sense but feels right
- "the weather was very sunflower windmill today" <- what does that mean? Who knows, nobody wants to ask
- oh also she uses XD sometimes because she is 14 years old, I don't make the rules it's a legal requirement
Happy
- he uses natsus phone because natsu basically never does
- also uses exclusively the cat emoji instead of faces but for him it makes more sense
- he has brainrot humour I don't make the rules
- that plus the fact he picks up on Wendy's words sometimes means he's basically always speaking in code, nobody knows what he's on about
- his paws make typing hard so his texts are full of typos (him and natsu are equally impossible to understand but you can always tell who's who)
- he LOVES emojis and uses like 50 each text, sometimes relevant sometimes not, but trust there will be many.
Carla
- She has her own phone, where do she get it? Fuck if I know
- she texts in cursive font, don't ask me why she just does
- rarely texts but when she does it's in perfect grammar and she signs each one like she's writing a letter
- similar to Lucy except she's doing it on purpose, she knows that's not how you're supposed to text but she doesn't care, it's the principle.
Also she HATES emojis, she thinks they're childish and is very vocal about that.
Uses big ass words nobody's ever heard of and sometimes Wendy will pick up on them too so it's a 50/50 shot weather a word Wendy used is one she made up or just a carlaism
Juvia
- emotocon user, of this I am certain
- ≧◠◡◠≦, <(^,^)>, >:O
- only emoji she uses is this one ->🩶, and I think you can guess why
- she uses them downloadable fonts to emphasize words, she has to say Gray-sama in cursive or else she dies
- her phone is a flip phone btw because she wants to attach gray charms to it (thanks guy from the comments on my last post for opening my eyes)
Mira
- gave people a bunch of nicknames in her phone when she was a teenager and never bothered changing them
- to this day erza's name in her phone is like "annoying ahh ginger" or some shit
- teenage Mira and adult Mira fall into very different categories of texting
- as a teenager Mira unironically uses 🖤⛓️🔪
- as an adult Mira sends minion memes
- gonna make a whole separate post for teenage Mira later for now we focus on adult Mira
- she uses some weird fucking emojis and almost never human ones
-👿😈🪜✂️💟🧶🌕🫀🐏 <- devil emoji because she just likes to use it instead of the smile, it's more personalized that way. Other ones hell if I know
- her siblings are brain rotted beyond belief shes fighting for her fucking life out here
- she's also an emotocon user but only the fancy ones you can't make on unless you fucking copy paste it
-(ง'̀-'́)ง (✿◠‿◠) <- genuinely where do you get that flower idfk

kaz brekker and andrew minyard, same character, different fonts (different universes, really)
like besides the obvious (that both of them are morally grey, touch-averse, eloquent characters with traumatic childhoods)
they both love to make deals :
"kaz brekker?" "a liar, a thief and utterly without conscience. but he'll keep to any deal you strike with him"
"aaron made a promise. andrew will make him keep it. it's not as crazy as it sounds"
they have a thing for knives :
"get me clean clothes and fresh water" "since when am I your valet?" "man with a knife, remember?"
"how many knives do you carry?" "enough" & "the only trick is figuring out how to pry kevin away from the court" "I have knives"
they don't think they're good enough for the person they are in love with :
"I'd promise you safety. I'd offer you happiness. I don't know if that exists in the barrel but you'll find none of it with me"
"don't look at me like that. I am not your answer"
they're the leaders of their groups and their significant other are the glue that keeps everyone together :
"if kaz was their leader, then inej had been their lodestone, pulling them together when they seemed most likely to drift apart"
"family means something different with us because it has to. it's not about blood. it's not even about who we like. it's about who andrew's willing to protect." "I should be thanking you. [...] you agreed to help dan fix this team. you're saving the two I thought we couldn't reach, and you're a living example for kevin to follow."
I am this close 🤏🏻 to reading all the books again just to highlight their similarities

I've seen several great responses to this but am going to do my best to go over the points I think are important.
Follow people. This may be obvious but you can't join the community if you don't find the community. There are many different simblrs around, you're bound to find ones you enjoy. You'll be inspired by their work and likely find other people to follow through what they reblog.
Interact. I too fall in the trap of simply liking posts when I'm tired but giving someone a reblog or a comment can make their day (it makes mine). Sometimes you'll find simblrs that don't appreciate conversation but they are few and far between, most of us love talking about our characters and creations.
If your story isn't sparking joy for you, it's okay to abandon it, or put it to the side. It's also fine to play around with your editing or writing. Your posts are allowed to evolve, likewise they're allowed to stay the same. If you have a process that works for you and you love, it's fine to stick with it.
Participate, it's a great way to met people. See who is doing bachelor/bachelorette challenges and make a sim to join the fun. Check out some CAS challenges, build challenges or legacy challenges. The creators love to see others participate.
Cite your sources when it makes sense. We are not going to judge you as a lesser simmer because you got that amazing house off the gallery or you got your beautiful sim from a sims dump. Give credit to the creators and have fun! Also DON'T use the cc tags if you don't link to actual cc because it drives people who have very little time to browse up the wall.
Be kind. It's easy to think fast and type stuff you really shouldn't. Remember that behind each profile is a person. Have adult discussions when there is a problem rather than just terrorizing the anon ask boxes. The block button is there for a reason.
Protect your mental health. If you have subjects that trigger you consider putting them in blocked tags. You can still choose to view the post if you wish but you'll have a heads up about the subject matter. If you followed someone that you are not enjoying anymore, you can unfollow them. I've had people unfollow me and my world hasn't ended.
Look out for others. Is that an okay font for low vision readers? Is the text on your pictures legible rather than simply in style? Do you have a transcript of character conversations somewhere if it isn't? Most importantly please tag your triggers! Some of us can handle when death or miscarriages come out of nowhere and for some of us it is upsetting to see it on the dash with no warning and can ruin our day. Consider also adding tags for other topics such as addiction, abuse or violence. Your story doesn't become "less cool" just because you think of others before posting, I promise.
Finally, be yourself. Don't try to imitate the works of blogs with larger followings just because it appears trendy. By all means grow your skills but post what you want to post, things that you've enjoyed creating. Remember it will likely take time for you to find your people on here, but there really is something for everyone on simblr.

It's August 21, which means: Happy Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day! If you are a writer of fanfic, please know just how appreciated you are!! Fandom would be such a different space without your creativity and labors of love. 💜
In celebration of this most glorious holiday, @renegadepublishing ran an event where we bind copies of fics to gift to their authors, and I had the joy of binding The Tranquility of Water for @noppoh! It's a truly fantastic post-canon story and I love the exploration into the effects of the main story on its characters after the fact. (This is a story I love so much that I wrote up a page and a half crash course on The Untamed so I can try to force my sibling into reading it as well. Take that as you will)
The walls of the Hanshi creep in on him and so Lan Xichen leaves. He leaves Cloud Recesses and his seclusion, stealing away in the night with no-one the wiser that he even left. His feet bring him to Lotus Pier where a surprisingly kind Jiang Cheng seems determined to help him heal.
With a title like "Tranquility of Water" and the story largely taking place at Lotus Pier, I may have been a little heavy handed with the lotus imagery throughout the book, but it felt very fitting! The lotus on the cover was a last minute addition, but one that turned out so lovely. Just, you know, to tie everything together lotus-wise. (Another one of my favorite design details in the typeset is that both title fonts from the chapter headers and title page get repeated within the text of the story as the main characters handwriting fonts!)
I started the physical binding process of my copy while at the Renegade Retreat in April (and decided the week before that I wanted to change my body font... can you say formatting speedrun?) and up until that point I hadn't actually figured out what the cover and endpages were going to look like. Special thanks to everyone who contributed pieces to this binding (and who moral-supported me along the way -- my copy holds so many fun memories now) because it LITERALLY would not look like this without you all. I really love the way the color transitions worked out, with a predominantly blue/green case, fading into green, into pink, into the title page, and then transitioning back out at the end of the book.
And these endbands!! Friends, that is SILK embroidery floss that a friend brought to the retreat especially so I could experience the decadence of silk endbands. I will never be the same. (They're so smooth... so shiny... so slippery to work with, but SO WORTH IT)
(Binding details under the cut)
The pieces that went into this bind:
Fandom: The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi
Pairing: Jiang Cheng | Jiang Wanyin / Lan Huan | Lan Xichen
Bookcloth: Renegade Retreat Swap Table Special (I have no idea what it is, but it was just enough to make a copy for myself and the author and the color worked PERFECTLY!)
Cover paper: Opal Momi paper
Cover paper: Opal Momi paper
Endpapers: from the Craft Consortium Ink Drops - Dusk paper pack
Titling: foil quill
Endbands: leather cording core, silk embroidery floss for the bands
Body font: EB Garamond
Title fonts: Wintersoul and Bastian
Handwriting fonts: Bastian (Lan Xichen), Richardson Script (Lan Wangji), and Wintersoul (Jiang Cheng)
Tumblr insists on eating and doubling text in this section at its own whim, so if there's something missing that you're curious about, feel free to DM me an ask!
