first of all, all of them struggle with checking compulsions in their own ways, and I'll get into how that manifests! they all have bfrb too - mind picks his skin, heart pulls at his feathers, soul bites his nails, and whole bites his lips. specifics under the cut because this got LONG whoops

heart is superstitious. he just knows something bad will happen if he ends on an unlucky number, if he doesn't wish on 11:11, if he steps on cracks. he refuses to get rid of anything - what if he needs it? what if he can't find it again? what if he accidently gets rid of something important? he walks through the doorway three times. three is a lucky number. did someone throw away that box? better check everything in his room to be safe. he repeats the thirteenth object three times. is he going to die? the thought sticks in his brain. he asks the others, needing reassurance, or it'll just get louder. he memorizes every crack in the house so he doesn't accidently step on one he can't see. he can't find something. he asks them if they moved it. he freaks out if they throw his things away, convinced something horrible will happen to them. get more reassurance. they're annoyed with how much he asks, but it's better than the alternative.

mind's sense of personal responsibility is warped, with him believing it's up to him to do everything right. this leads to him obsessively checking everything is in order - the others are behaving, the books are all in their right place, the doors are locked, check they're behaving again, click the lock again [what if it's broken?], did someone move a book? everything is his responsibility, he has to ensure it's all in working order. he's the only one who can do it. check the stove. never trust the other two to do a good enough job. twist the lock once, twice, three times for good measure. it's irrational. he shouldn't be irrational. reread that text message again. why is he doing this? he can't stop. what if something bad happens if he doesn't? that makes no sense. but what if it's rational the next time he checks, what if he's justified? he's always justified. organize the drawer again.

soul has primarily moral ocd and harm ocd, with some fun religious guilt sprinkled in there for flavor. he obsesses over his morality, over if his actions have hurt anyone {especially during concord, where he's terrified of ruining things}, of if he's making whole proud. he compulsively checks that he's doing the right thing, that heart and mind are safe, and it can get a little overbearing for the other two. he prays. he repeats his prayers three times, just to be safe. he worries he's not close enough to being whole, trying desperately to mimic whole in everything he does. was that what whole would do? go over everything he's done that day, make sure he did everything right. he has thoughts of hurting heart and mind. he sees their violent deaths in his mind. repent. he wonders if he's being selfish. he prays three times, just to be safe.

and whole... whole has a lot of issues when it comes to other people, and since his main coping mechanism is avoidance, it means that he avoids relationships completely. he obsesses over if he's done something wrong, if he hurt someone, if something happened to them. he rereads all his messages over and over to make sure he didn't say anything bad. he goes over the signs that they might hate him in his head. he obsessively checks their activity to make sure they're okay, their posts and texts, spiraling if they haven't said anything in a while. was that the wrong thing to say? did he remember that interaction right? ruminate over their responses. do they still like him? look over their texts to make sure they didn't sound annoyed, go over their last interaction again. it doesn't seem worth it. he hides himself away, hoping that avoiding people will make it go away. it never does.

and of course, they're all convinced that their specific ocd is normal and reasonable while the others are the weird ones. heart is frustrated they never listen to his concerns and they're the stubborn ones, mind is convinced his rituals are the only rational ones and the others are being foolish, soul believes he's inherently Wrong in some way and thus it's reasonable, and whole thinks he's solved the issue by avoiding his issues entirely. something something wow these people are freaks thank god I'm the only normal one here

It's early morning in Honolulu and Tim is very, very tired. He didn't sleep on the flight because he was making plans, but to be honest said plans are all shit. His best option is gonna take six months to fully execute, for starters. Which is a reasonable amount of time to have to spend getting a near-complete stranger to trust you enough to let you kidnap them away from everything and everyone they know, he knows, but still. It's not even that solid a plan, even discounting the frustrating time delay. It's just the best of a bad lot.

Maybe Tim should've, like . . . actually stopped long enough to tell Bruce what he was doing and get some advice. Or at least Alfred, anyway.

Just . . . it's fine, Tim tells himself as he and his go-bag get a taxi. This is just preliminary work anyway. Recon more than anything else. Ideally he'll manage to "meet" Superboy, but he's not dumb enough to think he's going to get the guy to like him this quick, much less trust him. The goal is "passing awareness of his civilian identity's existence" and nothing else.

Then the street kind of blows up in front of his taxi.

So that's a whole thing.

And here's Tim without so much as a damn domino in his pocket.

People are screaming, things are very literally on fire, and some rando in lycra is yelling at the cop car on the corner. Normal Tuesday, really, except it's broad fucking daylight and again Tim doesn't have a mask on him, much less his bo staff or utility belt or anything actually any kind of useful.

Fuck airport security, Tim thinks.

"Who's the jerk with the monologue?" he asks the driver, who seems largely nonplussed by the whole situation and has definitely left the meter running while they're trapped between the other cars and the blown-up street. Priorities, Tim guesses. Can't blame a guy for having them.

"Beats me, man," the driver says with a shrug. "I don't keep track of the spandex set, I just take the necessary detours around 'em when I'm working."

"That might be lycra," Tim says, reaching for his wallet. "But fair enough. How much do I owe you?"

He doesn't have a mask right now, no, but he can't just leave civilians unprotected. He can at least help people get out of the area and maybe distract the lycra rando for a bit, if it comes to it. If nothing else, he can–

Somebody in flashy red and blue and a black leather jacket crash-lands on top of the lycra rando with very deliberate flair, and then the street blows up again.

This time, though, the explosion is definitely telekinetic in origin.

Specifically tactile telekinetic, Tim thinks it's safe to assume.

He pays the driver, then grabs his go-bag and gets to getting people out of the area as subtly as possible while Superboy and the lycra rando tear up the street even worse. Like, almost impressively worse. Tim really wouldn't have thought the damage could even get that much worse, but they both find a way.

He is going to have such a hard time convincing Bruce to let him drag Superboy to Gotham.

Well, it's a six-month plan. Maybe the guy will mellow out a bit somewhere in there. Learn some subtlety. Pick up a bit of finesse.

Tim isn't actually that delusional, obviously, but that's the lie he's gonna tell Batman.

Trust me to fluff it up, but that's just such a cute little scenario I couldn't help it.

Maybe when he's really really sad, they just droop. When he's really happy they flap. I don't think they're close enough to clap, but that'd be sooooo funny lol.

A lil guide to why you're not identifying with your natal chart

I've been thinking of writing this post for a few years now because this is one of the most common issues that people have when studying their charts and I feel like there's a lot of misconception around the topic sooooo I hope I can give you guys some ideas.

BIAS

As simple as that, people often have issues with taking a step back and really thinking about their life in relation to their charts. This is why astrology consultations (as opposed to reports) are often more advised. For most people, the way they are and the way their lives are is "normal", especially when we talk about things that are correlated with upbringing and culture. But also, your everyday life.

Just to give an example, I was once studying zodiacal releasing of my sister and I told her "seems like your peak period lasted from your childhood up to your late teens". She rolled her eyes and said that if that was her peak period then her life's a failure. But let me tell you how her teens went: she was super popular, everyone had a crush on her, one of her tattoos got an award at an international tattoo convention, she was one of the best dancers in her ballet school, she also has a brief history of being a metal singer and kind of by pure chance performed at Poland's Woodstock (now Pol'and'Rock - if you know, you know). I am probably missing something but my point is: she cannot look objectively at her life, for her that's just a normal teenage experience. But also, sometimes people's current aspirations often don't align with their past aspirations so when they look back, most events seem bland to them. And that is the case for a lot of folks.

Everyone has that friend who's always like: "I'm nothing special blehhh" and you just sit there and think of all their talents and accomplishments and just scratch your head. Or that person who always complains about having no money, yet they can live comfortably and can afford most of the things they want. And this goes for everything: talents, personality traits, home life and so on…

Remember, often times it's hard to really take a look at yourself in the mirror. And even if you do, you still see a flipped version of yourself.

MISINFORMATION, SIMPLIFICATION AND STEREOTYPES

I think this is a big one. And especially if your source of knowledge comes from the internet. When you learn about the signs and their characteristics, it's crucial to understand the nuances - and people pretty much always forget about it.

Every sign can have a certain trait: being driven is not exclusive to Aries, being sensual is not exclusive to Taurus, being talkative is not exclusive to Gemini and so on - it's all about the motives and the background of when and how that trait manifests.

For example, sure, one of the negative traits of Taurus is stubborness - because it's an earth sign and it's fixed. But Taurus is more than that, it's not just a one-ingredient sign. No sign is a one-ingredient sign. MOST people will be stubborn in some way: Aries will be stubborn if you won't let them do what they want, Gemini will be stubborn if you try to undermine their ideas and say they're wrong, Cancer will be stubborn about their grievances or about holding on to things tried and trusted and so on…

REMEMBER (and I want this plastered everywhere): no sign has the monopoly for anything. This goes the other way around: just because a Virgo was rude towards you, doesn't mean all Virgos will be rude towards you. NOT ALL *INSERT SIGN*.

Everything has a spectrum and everything has its place. Most Aries Suns are not full of anger and toughness all the time but maybe they love video games and they don't even realize that they're relieving their negative feelings by shooting everyone in Call of Duty? Or their job requires some martian energy, movement and discipline? Or they're very protective over the opressed ones and they're not afraid to fight for them when needed?

(And so yes, you probably do have that trait you claim you don't have in a certain context).

ASPECTS TO THE PLANETS AND OTHER INFLUENCES

"I don't feel like an Aries Sun", says a person with a Saturn square to their Sun, a Mars in Pisces and a Taurus rising. Well, first of all, I can guarantee you that you do act like an Aries in some ways but second of all - if your fiery and bold passionate lil heart is dimmed and harassed by Saturn, your Sun's dispositor is in a dreamy and passive Pisces and your Sun is in the 12th house AND on top of that, that slow Taurus rising is really clashing with cardinal Aries, then yes, this can make sense.

What can block or drastically alter a planet's infuence? Squares and oppositions, a contrasting stellium in another sign or house, sometimes being unaspected or occupying a house that is in aversion to other important points in the chart (so it's inconjunct), especially to the 1st house - you won't "see" your planets if they're in the 2nd, 6th, 8th or 12th house. Alternatively and interestingly, a planet (or more) occupying the 1st house may infuence and distort your view of things where you may not feel or seem to others like a "typical" exponent of your sign. Good example was when people weren't believing Halsey that she's a Scorpio rising - and with a stellium in her 1st house I don't blame them - her persona is influenced by Mercury, Venus and Jupiter, which is a pretty eclectic mixture.

HOUSE PLACEMENTS AND WHAT PLANETS "BELONG" TO

Not every planet talks about you because not every house talks about you. I've done two huge articles on house meanings and you can check them out here: PART 1 & PART 2, but to quickly sum them up:

1st: you 2nd: your posessions 3rd: your siblings/cousins, early education and neighbourhood 4th: your family and parents 5th: your children, sex life and fun activities 6th: your employees, pets and health 7th: your partnerships and open enemies 8th: your shared resources and inheritance 9th: your higher education, beliefs, travel 10th: your career and reputation 11th: your friends and networking 12th: your subconscious, loss, succlusion, sickness

So, as you can see, if you, for example, look at the planets in your 3rd house then they are largely talking about your family members or even neighbours. Have loud Aries Mars in the 3rd house but you're rather introverted and like to be left alone? Well, are your neighbours annoying? Is your neighbourhood a rather loud or even unsafe place? Do you feel a dislike towards your siblings cause they're always obnoxious when you're trying to relax and immerse yourself in your favorite book? Are your siblings sporty? Well, that's your Mars in the 3rd.

Have Jupiter in the 3rd house but you don't travel too much, you were never top of the class and you're shy? BUT how about your siblings, cousins or neighbours? Or maybe your school environment was very preachy or you even attended a catholic school? Look at the bigger picture because, newsflash, even your natal chart doesn't revolve all around you.

TIMING

If we're talking more about circumstances and events, this is a very important point to understand. You're not born with a load of experience and unless you're in your elderly age, you cannot ever say that a certain placement doesn't apply to you. You have Saturn in the 7th? Well maybe you went through that ONE bad breakup/divorce in your life - obviously you're not going through it for the eternity. You have Jupiter in the 7th house yet you struggle in relationships? But then you get into one in your 30s or even 40s and it's with the most jupiterian person in the world and you're happily together for the rest of your lives. You have Sun in the 10th house but you're whining that you're not acknowledged or popular or whatever? Well yeah, you're just being annoying, you know that not everyone can be a teenage superstar influencer or whatever - climbing the social ladder usually takes decades so don't even start with this one.

Nothing is constant. Things require time and that time is often influenced by, you've guessed it, ✨timing techniques✨ lol. So progressions, profections, transits, time lord periods etc. It may be that you won't even live enough to actually experience it. Some gain acclaim after they die, soz.

Other times certain events and traits only apply at certain moments in your life. I've mentioned my sister and her peak period in her teens. Well, she also happen to have Jupiter - her ascendant ruler - in the 3rd house, which may imply that she had the most luck and positive experiences during her school years. Same with other houses, If you have planets in the 7th house they may only be active while you're in a relationship. If you have planets in the 9th they may only activate when you're abroad or during your time in college. If you have planets in the 10th they may only switch on when you're on a high position career-wise. Not every house speaks of moments in life per se, but some do so keep that in mind.

WRONG HOUSE SYSTEM

Some of you stubborn lil kiddos might hate what I'm about to say… but if you're using the default placidus, I do encourage you to ✨open your mind✨ and check out your chart using the whole sign system. It's usually more straightforward and pretty much always more accurate from a constructive point of view.

The biggest reason why I love Ryomeko (Ryota x Yumeko) with all my heart is the genuine respect between them! ♡

From the beginning we can see that there is mutual respect between them, even when Saotome forced Ryota to help her cheat, Yumeko saw how honest and polite he was and gave him the money he needed to pay off his debts.

Another important point that I like about them is that even though there is mutual respect and trust on both sides, Ryota still has difficulty feeling good enough to be on the same level as Yumeko, almost as if he were still a "fido" who should obey the "humans."

As the chapters go on, it's great to see Yumeko encouraging him, including him and reinforcing that they are equal and on the same level, that he is not someone inferior because of his insecurities and weaknesses. And in pure genuine gratitude, Ryota does the best he can to see her happy and satisfied, always hoping that Yumeko gets what she thinks is best for her.

Their dynamic is honest, respectful, simple and complex at the same time, that's what makes me like them so much. They don't have a forced or exaggerated dynamic, so far they're going in the right direction and I really love that ;)

If you ignore Yumeko's gambling addiction they're almost like a normal but cute ship. I hope Homura has plans for them in the future, because they're amazing together!

It's really a shame that most people who like Kakegurui are so ignorant about them for literally no reason!! When you question why they are so ignorant about this ship they never give a reason, they just make empty and meaningless insults, comparing them to other characters who are totally different.

Anyway, these are the reasons why I love them sooooo much, I could talk about them for hours but unfortunately I have never met someone who speaks my native language who loves them as much as I do :')

every time you guys address me as professor of aiology i get the most vivid mental image of myself at a pepe silvia board. i need to get art of that.

BUT.... WELL GOSH ANON SINCE YOU'VE TWISTED MY ARM… [<- trying to act like they aren't basically wagging their tail at the prospect of rambling about this]

I've rambled a lot before about what I like in Ai ships in particular, but I think in any scenario, romance with Ai is necessarily founded on deep, bone-marrow-deep trust - she has so, so much to lose on just about every level that romance is a massive risk for her. So I think any romantic relationship is, by necessity, the result of friendship (or just extremely palpable mutual pining lol) and trust developing into deep, deep love. Because of this, I think she's not really the jealous type…? Not only because she has to be 100000% secure before being in a relationship to begin with, but because she's just so resigned to abandonment and being left behind by people who should love her.

Once she's actually IN a relationship tho, I think she really blossoms - just as she does with Saitou and Miyako, two people she clearly has a pretty secure relationship with. She looooves banter and teasing… she has a really cute and cheeky sense of humor and she likes to affectionately and playfully bully the people she likes, so someone being able to give as good as they get and banter with her is one of her favourite things… but she also enjoys when she can get under someone's skin and get a good reaction out of them. She's so annoying. <3

For other things she likes… I think she likes height/size differences, which is good because she's so tiny and petite they're built in whether she likes it or not LOL. She's also pretty aware of people's hands just because of all the handshake sessions she does - she's also suuuuper touchy and cuddly because she's so starved for like, genuine meaningful touch and intimacy. So things like someone gently setting a hand on her back or taking her hand make her go so so sooooo soft.

Her dislikes, she kind of talks about in 45510: she doesn't like people who nitpick or get hung up on or overreact to her mistakes. Ai herself isn't really the type who gets super hung up on small details, so someone who's really particular and high maintenance would be difficult for her to vibe with. People who don't emote super well (and are thus harder for her to read), too… I also think she really, really can't handle people who have a temper and get riled up easily just because of her own experiences growing up as an abuse victim. When people get mad at/around her, she tends to lock up and go really hard on People Pleasing Fawning Mode as a kneejerk survival reaction.

UM THAT GOT GLOOMY… so on a lighter note… couple activities…!!!!

I definitely think Ai is the type who values just being able to spend time with her SO chatting about everything and nothing… she's the kind of girlfriend who is legitimately on cloud nine just sitting with the person she loves and listening to them infodump about something LOL. I think she also really likes… hm, how to put this… typical 'couple'-y date activities? I guess? So much of her life is about being denied normalcy so I think there's something really special for her about getting to be a 'normal girl' enjoying normal, mundane happiness with a person she loves, even if it's just something simple and silly like going to a theme park together or checking out a restaurant they both think looks good.

The canon explanation for her looking human iirc is literally just "true love" or whatever tf. But that's not as fun to play with. So instead I like to write her as being ashamed of being a demon, especially because of her parents' actions, so she masks her demon traits. She is on a limit for how long she can hide her demon traits until doing so starts to hurt her, either through draining her energy or like, it causing physical damage to continue hiding parts of her. MORGWEN MORGWEN MORGWEN I'M SOOOOO NORMAL ABOUT THEM TRUST ME *eye twitching* in all seriousness though i love morgwen so so much it's probably unhealthy. i'll gloss over the entire plot of the show and pick out the morgwen scenes i like cause i'm SO sane. aside from morgwen i adore merthur, and i'm also very intrigued whenever someone mentions morgana/mithian there's a lot of potential there i feel.

does morgana count as a villain? i guess? she deserves all the chances cause i can't even see her mistakes in fact i'm blind in my left eye. other than morgana i think morgause and nimueh should've been given a chance to declare their cause and let ME decide if they're bad or not (they're not) since the show makes them so cartoonishly evil, leaving no room for the audience to think for themselves.

4. Villain you think should be burned at the pyre?

agravaine and edwin. full stop. no further discussion needed. both are CREEPS and edwin is just a weirdo for making a beetle climb into morgana's ear like what is bro doing. and yeah agravaine is self-explanatory like that man needed to be executed long before he died on the show even his FACE makes me uncomfortable. i'm sure there are other villains who deserve burning at the stake too but these are my least favorite ones.

He's so happy and unfortunately im evil and in my heart porter has this terrible moment of in his head seeing J2 like this tacky wedding dress in his arms and all like yeah i would give it all up for j2 and then its over and hes like ok im normal now (he's not). He loves being in porter's arms he loves being carried across the threshold (secretly his favorite part) and J2 is so adoring and trusting and its just. I cry.

And i do think it would even be something that J2 would take a moment to accept, like i don't even think it would be his idea bc like he wants it he wants it to be real in that he wants porter to himself he wants to be the one picked to be It but also he wants the fantasy of it as well if he can't have that but also a part of him is like is it blasphemous is it wrong to want to indulge in the fantasy in which i get to be the one for Porter. Especially if this is not a situation in which he is invoking jace, like this is for him.

I can't decide if that once he's in on it though he's the one nervously but like excitedly trying to voice his ideas or if he's truly in for the ride. He definitely didn't decide on the dress but like unironically he loves it I think in his mind he would end up in something more dainty but its perfect. He can do tacky!!! He likes comfort, he likes tacky, he's never had a sense of style but he likes romance, repulsion at closeness is a jace instinct and it always feels alien in his brain, wrong, and J2 freaks out a bit abt the dress getting messed up at first but like the tags are right Porter is getting into it and J2 can relish the fact that Porter is not going to treat him like a precious thing, the want to the point of destruction is close to what he wants, right?

and the heels are crazy something that high might be a j3 special j2 has never worn a heel in his life and initially he's like idk abt this but if it's what porter wants then ok! And he's kinda wobbling around, but he's earnestly giving it his best shot like asking Porter "how do i look?" and like and its like endearing and awkward and so baby bird and Porter is just like so endeared by it until the heel snaps off but thats ok bc that means Porter gets to carry him some more!!

And i do think J2 gets into the roleplay aspect of it like for real for real. This entire night is about how special J2 is which he's like absolutely taking and relishing and he might actually die of happiness and b/c i love porter but i hate porter he's absolutely playing into it just this idea of like it's crazy and it's stupid but what if we went for it? i would give it all up for you. I chose you. I have to have you, which is why we're ruining the dress and the makeup. Like Porter rips the dress and he absolutely wants j2 to cry and his mascara to run and his lip gloss to smear while Porter is fucking his face and j2 is sooooo into it.

but also it gets very slow and treasures him kissing of the thighs and slowly taking off the garters and J2 might pass out. He's like. J2 is not doing the work for tonight this is for spoiling you (I earnestly think if they did commit to the whole honey moon suite thing Porter is making J2 everyone's problem. This is my special little princess for the night. Get behind me kitten he asked for no pickles). J3 makes fun of j2 for earnestly using the phrase "making love" sometimes and what they're doing usually isn't really that but tonight it is and. he cries but like for once its not like a sad cry or even a bittersweet cry.

But the other half of the roleplay beyond getting spoiled is j2 getting like wayyyy into it like. if he were really. basically living in this fantasy of essentially being Porter's housewife and being like yeah i'd do all your dishes and all your laundry and treat you right and be dressed up for you with a cute little apron and give you a kiss every day when you came home work and of course there's a home cooked meal and you can watch tv on the couch or i could give you a massage and tell you how hard you work and how happy i am to see you and whatever else you want. You're the center of my world. And then i can blow you obviously. Which obviously is huge turn on for Porter so they go at it like two more times and then the rest of the night

there are many things wrong with this ep (like derek existing, and also his lines, and also yul existing,,, and the stuff ive pointed out) but its ONC. i'll throw them a bone ig. i'm okay with what we got, it obviously wasn't a masterpiece and it felt fanservice-y in parts (yk that one post or ask or whatever that says season 1 & 2 DSVC was a show a fandom was built off, but season 3 is a show built off the fandom? yea some scenes reminded me of that. coigh cough krystal mildly breaking the fourth wall.) but i'm glad connor only got like 2 seconds of screentime, fiore and alec got along, and the jajames crumbs oh my.. <3

red team all work in the dairy and blue team work in the calf ranch and heifer barn. they hate each other because the reds will blame absolutely any problems on blue team fucking up their replacement heifers and blue team will blame any and all calf illness on the maternity pen. 42 day old calf breaking with diarrhea that is abos-fucking-lutely obviously coccidia? nah that's obviously because of poor colostrum hygiene, and even if it isn't, it's because reds're somehow fucking up the colostrum protocols - yes sarge we know the serum total proteins on new calves SEEM to show good passive transfer but we just KNOW there's something going on in that pen because you idiots cannot be trusted not to, like, start dipping navels with strawberry-flavoured vodka or something

carolina is 50/50 owner with church after inheriting it from their father. it was a couple hundred cow tie-stall barn used for research - both dr. church's own research and renting to other researchers. when he retired they decided they wanted to start nearly fresh, hopping markets from research to commercial production, expanding and converting to a much larger free-stall (they're around 900 head now) and robot milkers, and greatly expanding and upgrading the youngstock facilities to keep up with the replacement heifer need of the larger herd. it was a rough first few years, especially with *ahem* the quality of labour they were able to hire, but they figured it out and things are going shockingly well now

reds:

carolina: counts as red for these purposes because she's the manager of the dairy. she has a very love/hate relationship with management because god does she like getting to do things Her Way and research and analyze and work to make them perfect and tell people exactly what to do, but unfortunately, people. People are absolute pests and will not just do what you tell them because you said so, and learning this has been IMMENSELY frustrating for her, but she's gradually learning people skills and that respecting your employees, hearing them out and actually explaining Why you want things a certain way, will get you sooooo much farther. She also hates how much time she has to spend behind a desk and will take absolutely any excuse to strap on some coveralls and help with breeding or drying off or covering silage or really anything physical. thank god, because she is an absolute machine and will sprint in her steel-toe rubber boots and coveralls with the giant fucking heavy-ass tarp up the pile all on her own. she would not be on her own if she slowed down to a normal human speed, but there is absolutely no way she's gonna do that.

sarge: head herdsman and cannot be convinced not to spend an ungodly amount of time at work. worked on then owned a teeny family dairy his whole life until it was not economically feasible and had to sell a few years ago, coincidentally right when church and carolina were doing their overhaul and looking for someone experienced they could trust to deal with all the inexperienced chucklefucks they were able to hire. It seemed like the perfect serendipitous coincidence, until they realized they hated each other and sarge has... some Interesting beliefs and methods that he absolutely cannot be persuaded out of. getting him to stop putting red kote on EVERYTHING was carolina's greatest Sarge Achievement. he's also the hoof-trimmer alongside lopez and getting sarge to, for the love of god, stop putting wraps on every therapeutic trim SERIOUSLY NO ONE CAN SEE THEM AS SOON AS THEY GET DIRTY AND THEY'RE JUST STAYING ON WAY TOO LONG AND MAKING THINGS WORSE SARGE PLEASE GOD is her white whale. he does most of the repairs on vehicles and equipment and she has to beat him off with a stick from making very-not-OSHA-approved "improvements". nevertheless, over the years they've grown an incredibly weird friendship that absolutely terrifies and deeply confuses church

grif: does the ration mixing and drives the ration truck and feed pushup and alley scraper, and, most importantly, the skid steer. other people can (and do, on days he's not working) step in for the other things, but the skid steer? carolina has OUTLAWED anyone but grif from driving it after donut had an oopsy daisy and completely fucked up a water line (she was sooooooo mad they had one HELL of a frosty meeting. she is very careful to Not Yell because she knows that is a Bad Manager thing to do but carolina has no ability whatsoever to disguise how mad she is, like in her face and body language, and and does not realize it or how terrified people are of her LMAO). he would actually be a really shitty feeder without simmons neurotically messaging him where he's supposed to be every 15 minutes in the morning because feeding would NOT be on schedule and he might even forget a pen tbh (this is very bad. think of a lactating dairy cow as an elite ultrarunner who is in a constant fight between her limited capacity to take in food and her absurd energy expenditure. any disruption restricting feed intake is the root of pretty much all evil for lactating cows). between the two of them they make one functional person. because why not establish deep co-dependency with your co-worker for no reason <3

simmons: kinda jack-of-all-trades herdsman. huge snitch to carolina or sarge whenever people are slacking or fuck up, which she appreciates because usually it's really hard to have eyes on the ground to see whether the protocols you put so much effort into perfecting are actually being followed, and what you need to do that make them easier to follow/people want to follow. it's much easier when you have an obsessive suck-up, thankfully. when she saw him looking over her 1000 spreadsheets and reports and making his own, reorganized-for-maximum-efficiency versions for fun she realized, holy shit, this is my out from some of the most tedious, mindless, repetitive administrative management work, THANK YOU GOD. she only trusts him with stuff that does not involve making decisions and she still briefly checks over his work, of course, but oh my god, he is SO thrilled and smug to have Responsibility and to be Entrusted with anything even remotely management-y. also does a lot of routine preventative maintenance on equipment because sarge isn't as interested in maintaining things as making new, better (/more terrifying) ones, and no one else is so anal about maintenance schedules.

donut: main breeder and maternity pen herdsman. good lord, the fisting jokes. no one knows if they're on purpose. boy howdy is that boy good with an ai gun, though! so they all just have to endure some of the most awkward turns of phrase they've ever heard. he cries dramatically every time there's a stillbirth or a weak neonate that dies, and then immediately is like okay i'm normal now! (he is never normal.) has an EXCELLENT appreciation for the importance of LUBE, MORE LUBE ("NO I MEAN IT MISTER THAT POOR GIRL DESERVES BETTER FROM YOU!! I WANT YOUR ARM DRIPPING") whenever checking labour progress and especially in dystocias, and does not tolerate anyone helping not treating his gals with the utmost tenderness and respect. also deeply fucking weird and LOVES finding bovimanes or abortuses because eeeeeewwwwww so weird so cool doc look!! look at it hehehe YUCK!!!!

lopez: professional hoof-trimmer who comes in biweekly. hates working with sarge SO much. blasts regional mexican music as loud as he can by the chute so he doesn't have to hear him.

doc: obviously the hospital herdsman. god bless him, he tries, but he is so susceptible to "oh i heard from bob down the road that oregano oil and yeast will prevent subclinical ketosis and you HAVE to give today [this is a popular cefapirin intramammary tube for treating mastitis, but only works on susceptible bugs, and god people are. very bad at choosing which cases to use it for and what duration to use. especially because it takes 5 days for inflammation to go down and milk to return to normal even if the infection is cured sooner] for 5 days for it to work". dr. grey is their herd vet, comes by weekly for herd check, and god, she both HATES and LOVES doc. hates because good god man, please stop all this nonsense and just!! listen to her advice!!!!! she put effort into these treatment protocols JUST LISTEN TO THEM. loves because wow, fascinating how this man's mind works, and what a CHALLENGE trying to mentally wrestle him into compliance.

blues:

church: manager of the youngstock barns. constantly bitching to carolina about a) how terrible the reds are and how they're obviously fucking up all the calves at maternity, SERIOUSLY carolina how are they supposed to work with this!! and b) how terrible and annoying the blues are, really, carolina, he means it this isn't a joke stop laughing, not a day goes by that he doesn't fantasize about firing everyone, selling, and retiring to a cabin in the middle of nowhere where he'll never have to fucking speak to anyone again. at least while alpha is fronting. epsilon doesn't need to do the performative "i hate everyone and i'm killing myself the next time caboose leaves a gate open and we have to spend an hour collecting naughty heifers" bitching quite as constantly, he's more comfortable expressing actually liking his coworkers. but he does occasionally fly off the handle and get way more actually mean than alpha, which is obviously Suboptimal for workplace toxicity, because he feels like the one in the system that has to take on everything the others can't or won't and so he internalizes all the real work-related stresses until he blows up about them. theta really really loves the calves and fronts semi-frequently when things at work are calm and they're handling the calves. they all try not to let omega front at work because JESUS CHRIST, but tbh there's a couple times in stupid petty arguments with tucker and caboose he does and it's literally just like the stupidest cheesiest gimmick villain WITH MY CALF ARMY I WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND SUBJUGATE THE PUNY BIPEDS!!! tucker's like lol sure man. caboose is supportive because fuck human babies fr calves are so superior.

caboose: mostly works with the older heifers because no one gets these hormonal naughty teenage gals like him. keeps picking different favourite heifers and naming them sheila. tex works with the post-weaning girlies too and they're a dreamteam honestly. together they can and will deadlift a yearling if she gets herself stuck in a stupid spot. frequently causes gate-related chaos. tucker is starting to get suspicious he does it on purpose because he likes seeing the heifers get to go exploring.

tex: unrelated to church and carolina, but is the only one that actually worked at the farm when owned by their dad. their dad wanted her to have 1/3 ownership but she turned him down. carolina is still hurt by how much mentorship/approval he gave tex compared to his actual kids. tries not to take it out on tex but tex's general abrasiveness and her messy relationship with church don't help matters. doesn't actually work full-time at the farm anymore, has her own beef operation (texas longhorn ofc) now but still drops by to have fun with caboose and the heifers and to bother church. are they dating? exes? about to kill each other? about to elope? no one knows! she'll bring her ropes or her dartgun just to make people freak out about YOU CAN'T DART THE DAIRY COWS TEXAS (obviously she wouldn't. whether she should be darting her own cows is another question but they are wild gals and she is a wildly good shot so, hey, if it works and she knows the risks and is using them with a veterinary prescription)... but she is serious about roping the naughty heifers when they escape. she believes in the power of a good rope and bowline knot like nothing else.

tucker: works with the pre-weaning calves. in a constant battle over the calf barn radio with church and kai and is NOT above hiding it so they can't change it. always trying to get out of doing any cleaning tasks and slacking off and talks a big game about what little asshole shits the calves are but who's in there babying any pneumonia calves with extra bedding and perfecting ventilation and giving SO many oral electrolytes so gently to scours calves? who's bullying church into buying dummy nipples and making PVC pipe hay slowfeeders (well, blue team all make them together. team craft day!! mostly spent with tucker certain caboose is going to take off tucker's and/or his own fingers with the saw) for enrichment? who's paying unannounced recon visits to the maternity pen to make sure they're treating the neonates right and have all the colostrum equipment and calf pens pristine (he and donut have a weird frenemyship)? he wasn't like this until he had junior and now he can't stop thinking how he would want someone taking care of his baby to treat him... god. now he has to actually try. fucking annoying Feelings and wanting to do the right thing ugh!!

kai: oh man she loves the calves they're her CREW her GIRLS her SQUAD!! so many selfies with them. sometimes she "breaks into" (she has a key) the barn after hours with her besties (randos she met at a party) for fun. church has told her a hundred times that there are fucking CAMERAS and he's going to fire her next offense he swears to god. but he knows she at least won't let anyone fuck with the calves or the barn (and, in fact, has gotten into some spectacular fights with some of those drunk people who have tried vandalism).

godd wampus im fucking THRIVING right now. this campaign sucks so bad it's genuinely unwatchable at times and I think that's the appeal to me <3 they spent like 10 minutes just describing and figuring out how the money system works and literally none of them sound like they've ever played dnd before and i don't think it will ever pass the bechdel test once the entire campaign even with velrissa trying her hardest but it goes crazy anyway

br'aad is my favorite character by a lot right now,, he's my FREAKK i love him and his idiot swagger so much. he's supposed to be charismatic but he sucks so bad at it everyone hates him but sticks around with him anyway. he's a warlock and his patron stops time and gives him insight on things/danger to come and kicked off the main plot in the sickest sequence I've ever seen. also his gayboy ass really did walk so every other gayboy slimecicle character could run !! they were so right !! and the party spent the first and second session hating everything he said and did . Took them sooooo long to be normal about him but they got it eventually when mountain (MY MAANNNNNN) defended him. Also he says everything with ^_^ . Just outloud you can hear it in his voice

for the rest I think the only other character that's talking enough to form an opinion on is taxi. and that opinion is STRONGLY a good one o(-( ! his banter with br'aad is so fun they're the only characters that feel Real and In The World so far and I love it so much. the names bit where br'aad kept getting his name wrong and calling him "saxi" and whenever he corrected him br'aad would just go "I know saxi. Nice to meet you im br'aad!" actually had me in tears at a certain point they're the only ones that have gotten me to laugh fr fr so far

sadly velrissa mountain and sylnan just Don't Fucking Talk so i don't have any real concrete opinions on them yet other than "hmm. Interesting ^_^" velrissa and her necromancy stuff is so neat so far I hope we get to see it in action soon instead of just small mentions here and there. same with the dynamic between sylnan and br'aad I NEEED to see more snockers scenes like their sibling scamming bullshit seems so cool I can't wait for them to emotionally rip my heart out through my throat. I can feel it coming

honestly the main appeal of it all is the characters and the characters alone. them slowly becoming friends and trusting each other will fuck with my brain permanently. I already cheered out loud when they so much as INSINUATED that they could stand br'aad and his charisma and they don't actually hate being around each other like that made me so happy. their meeting makes no sense but that's okay the Shenanigans with the solid snake box and br'aad trying and failing to stealth was so fun and "nice forearms, and a nicer staff!" and the little weirdo gremlin goblin following them around they're all very scared of and creeped out by (except for br'aad. he is strongly sexually attracted to goblins. this is canon and brought up over and over again) all make up for it. the story really doesn't matter to me here at all ^_^ all i care about are the characters being happy and traveling together and that's what makes the campaign enjoyable for me

robin!! i know me and oomfie have been real active in the very small cat!mick community… while im glad there’s some here that like it (you included ofc!), i know there’s a lot of people scrolling through the mick mars tag going “what’s with all the gay cat shit??” ig it’s just me and the four ppl really into the cat!mick au agenda against the world!

that aside, i love what you said about mick only really being able to show affection through his cat instincts. like, he’s never really said “i love you” to any of them out loud, but the purring he does whenever they pet him or cuddle close to him is pretty much his way of doing so. and they all already know how much he hates people getting into his personal space but… he very easily gets in their way and just lays right on top of them in order for them to give him some affection. at first they’d be confused cause… the old man wants us to show him affection after pushing us away for like.. three years?? no way! but what they don’t realize is that it just take mick a longer time to trust people cause… idk cats (lmaooo).

also the idea of him scenting them and thus making them his family is so cute ughhhh! they obviously don’t know what’s going on, they probably wouldn’t be able to tell micks scenting them in the first place. but mick does become overly affectionate and almost treats them like they’re his children in a way. also… why can i see him trying to groom tommy, who severely does not want to be groomed. he’s squirming around, complaining about the very odd texture of his tongue and micks trying to get him to stay still. he figures they need to be cleaned either way since… the band doesn’t really take much showers.. (besides vince of course, who would have to run away from mick and his killer tongue!)

(oh btw… do you think the band would get toxicplasmosis or whatever that thing is? like they don’t actually think mick stinks… in fact he kinda smells like lavender… ofc when they ask anyone outside the band they’d find out no one else thinks mick smells all that great. he probably smells more like stinky fishy cat…)

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

We only really have Laurence, Maria, Doll and Moon Presence because whereas Willem, Djura, Eileen and Ludwig are addressed there is so much to headcanon about them that it probably evades "in canon" category... :') I really love the depth and the sadness of both his bonds with Maria and Laurence, regardless of whether they're romantic or platonic. I am a little antsy that they've left some lines suggesting a much deeper bond with Laurence in cut content realm, but I am reusing everything I physically can, sooooo xD

There is also Paleblood Hunter which I love to think is sort of reincarnation of Laurence ( x ), but this one, again, either falls back into Laurence category or there isn't enough to develop during just one night.. 🤔 Final product suggests that Gehrman loves all hunters equally, including us, which is still sweet!

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

Hahaha, tough luck, I only read fanfics from either 1) people that are unreachable and would never interact with the fandom or 2) people I trust deeply as friends! Reading fanfics became way too important emotional experience for me to mentally manage feeling rejected by the writer as a person. But in the AU where I am a normal person without such deep insecurities, I say everything regarding his story is good! Byrgenwerth era where he only starts picking interest in holy blood? Good. Early Healing Church? Good. His last days where he can't save himself anymore? Good. Whatever time of his life you take will be interesting, because HE is interesting! I definitely adore how Laurence is included in your fanfic, both his personality and his actions!

I do not know the state of Bloodborne fanfics well enough to judge, so I think my general turn-off applies; romantic/sexual fanfics that have such little character-specific or lore-specific context that if you detach the characters from the source material no one will notice! Good ship fanfic is the one that specifically applies to these characters, not just a random fantasy with their names attached! Easiest cheat with this problem is having characters reminiscise or address some prior events in canon, especially if they led to... uhhhh, the """interaction""", but really, there are various ways to bind them to the setting 🤔

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

YEEEEES YES GOOD QUESTION!!!! My first exposure to Bloodborne cast was getting recommended a compillation of boss themes with images attached on Youtube, so I just saw a BW image of his beast form without any context paired with his theme. For some reason I thought he was some wise, serious, dignified monster found (fought?) somewhere in library-like place, and that he could talk too!

I was yet to discover how feral this form of him really was, or that he even used to be a human to begin with! I thought this videogame just had monsters x) Now I am also aware how dirty his hands are, when I thought he was a morally grey character until [player] would disturb him for some reason. He is very complex and deep. Love him for that, but the guy is so heavy that memeing about him is easier dfshfhds But I was right on the money with 'dignified librarian dad' impression, after all! *spoon-feeds you my "Laurence is a son of Cainhurst librarian and quite a bookworm in general" speculation for 700th time*

^^^ This is also the closest I can get to my first mental image of his human form after I've learned he had one and was a scholar in Byrgenwerth! You can see dark hair and buttchin were always there, but he used to have green eyes and less facial hair... Also his glasses were exclusively for reading. And he was tall and less "cute". I agree the "handsome" beta Laurence is a bit better than my final product <:3 He feels more... laurence-y xD If I am to ever create something 'serious' for Bloodborne, like maybe a large comics, I might roll back to this image more, but for now it is all little kitten Laurence for me.

hello hi!! it is me again!! finished my bropunzeling doubleheader and ahgggghh hhhh!!!!!! i swear to god the payoff in only fools rush in is so good it made me see STARS . i loved it so much oh my god. i’m obsessed with matthew the sort of unreliable narrator who cannot for the life of him figure out that leon is so down bad it makes him look stupid. the spain chapter !!!!!!!!!!!!! just sooooo good!!!!!! it’s been a while since i’ve reread girl!leon (my beloved) and one thing i do remember vividly is how much i loved the sicily chapter, where she’s pining so bad. idk there’s something about them on vacation that hits different . maybe it’s because it’s july but maybe not who knows. the portrayal of the loneliness matthew feels and the moving across the continent about it felt so real to me (and relatable. ouchie!!)

also. the porn. the feelings that are expressed through it. that is so well done and so hard to come by? like the way they express their affection through it is phenomenal. gagged me fr i’m going to be thinking about it for a while

there’s one bit that made me go insane fr fr. near the end, when they’re in leon’s hotel room and they’re finally resolving:

“I do," he says. His voice is shaking, from fear or nerves or adrenaline or the hope that's threatening to consume him. It akes all of his courage to uproot himself, to make himself move wards Leon. To take that last, final step, until he and Leon are almost touching. Are close enough that Matthew can feel Leon's sody heat, can see the lines around his eyes, can smell hotel shampoo and skin. i don’t know if the narration break (i don’t know the right word for it) between “i do” and “i do want it” done on purpose as in the wedding vows i dos but anyways it made me go CRAZY. JUST AHHHHHHHH SICK SICKKKKKKK. genuinely made me glad i have eyeballs and a brain. GOD.

also not to take as an excuse to babble but i DO think there is something generally when writing a romantic fic where taking ur characters and sticking them somewhere outside their normal circumstances they're better able to get to those deeper feelings? like, being away from "reality" of rivalry or hate or what have you allows to like, tap into those big big emotions. this is why i love writing vacation scenes. i cannot be stopped.

oh yeah i finished Babel!!!!!!

it was very good & i really liked it and all the Themes and all the linguistics stuff was sooooo interestingggggsnhasgnasasn words i love words!! i was wondering how she was going to end it because, you know they're running a revolution, and from a plot perspective they should win because robin is the protagonist, but it was all so well researched and otherwise Very Historically Accurate so was she going to change the entire opium wars part of this history??? and then the ending was like. wow. wow ok that happened. and i thought it was really interesting how So Much of society relied on silver to the point where it literally crumbled when it stopped working?? ough fascinating.

and i LOVED when the match-pairs were explained like YESSSSS tell me about those wordsssss hnnnrnrg i wish i spoke more than englishhhhh. and how it only worked when the person saying the words was someone who *really* understood what they meant, and how less common languages were more powerful because the words were more different, and the connections between english's borrowed words & colonialism oughh the THEMES. also when [redacted for spoilers reasons] dies and they all immediately go 'how do we hide the body?' instead of 'what happened????!?!?'

The linguistic stuff was INCREDIBLE I LOVED IT ASLKDJF!!!!!! I get what you mean about the plot!!! I normally know where it is going to go, but with Babel there were endless possibilities!!!!

I didnt realise that that actually happened in history?!?!?! Can I say I hate Britain (because of wanting to start a war - im assuming that that happened too?) ? We have such an awful history and aggh why did/do people think its okay to kill people for stupid reasons its awful......

YES!!!! I love their dynamic and how they trust each other so much (Well...... mostly), and I love the 'how do we hide the body' trope! When I read the part where [REDACTED] dies I felt *emotions*. He was an awful person but [REDACTED] didnt deserve the emotional trauma of that........ And RAMY MY DARLING HNNGGGGGGGGGGG SO ANGRY ABOUT THAT DKLFSJSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I really wish there was a sequel though - I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WORLD!?!!! DID IT WORK?!?! HOW DID THEY REBUILD THE WORLD WITHOUT SILVER ETC??!?!?!?!??!?!
