STEVE & BUCKY'S LOVE STORY, UNABRIDGED SOMEWHAT ABRIDGED, part 1/3

all right, let's set the scene:

imagine two young kids, let's call them steve and bucky. they meet, they immediately take to each other, they become instant besties! and as they grow up together, facing many hardships, their bond deepens. not only are they best friends; they are also each other's family. they take care of each other, and they both know they can always rely on one another in times of need.

when steve's mom (and only remaining relative) passes away, bucky reminds him that he's not as alone in this world as he thinks he is: bucky will always be by his side. bucky will always love him unconditionally, will always be there for him, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer, and he wants steve to know that.

in fact, he asks steve to move in with him, thus offering steve both a literal and a metaphorical home.

and steve says yes!

SO. they are each other's home, they're living together, they're getting by all right. but then war breaks out, and eventually it reaches their little home as well: bucky is drafted, and steve, due to his many health issues, and despite his best intentions, can't follow the boy he loves onto the battlefield.

it's a very difficult time for them both - so much so that they can't even bring themselves to talk about it.

they have no choice but to say goodbye for now, knowing that they might never see each other again. but here's something you might not know yet about steve: he's the most reckless, most stubborn fucker america's ever seen. he's not gonna let this stop him!!! instead, he goes and gets a very sweet, kindly scientist to fucking experiment on him, because screw it, he's going to fight in this war if it's the last thing he does. and that's how he goes from Smol Steeb to Lorge Premium Steeb.

of course, things don't go exactly as he predicted, and steve is made to be the star of a war propaganda-fuelled musical kinda thingie, which he resents (but he looks fucking precious in his costume)

BUT! he does get closer to the actual battlefield. which is where he discovers that bucky has been captured by the enemy (!!!!!!!) and is most likely dead by now. but steve isn't willing to give up so easily! he'll believe bucky's dead when he sees it with his own eyes. so, he embarks on this suicide solo mission in the attempt to get bucky back, even if it means wandering on his own. into enemy territory. where he would be shot. on. sight. with no protection for his dumb ass except for a bunch of theater props!!! but such is the power of love, y'all.

against all odds, steve finds bucky very much still alive! and as soon as bucky recognizes him, even as confused as he is, he pulls out this beautiful, ecstatic, angelic-ass smile, like he's just seen god or he got high on some real good edibles or maybe both idk, like my man here was having a serious Religious Experience™ you guys

and i just wanna say, they could have totally kissed here and it would have made plenty of sense. but that's true of like 90% of their scenes in this franchise, so *shrugs*

ANYWAY steve takes bucky in his arms (well technically yes he does) and brings him to safety, and on their way there, bucky proves once more just how hard he meant that "with you til the end of the line" from before

afterwards, steve is finally given the chance to fight, just like he wanted.

bucky, on the other hand, could very well leave the war behind and go home; but when he learns that steve is staying, he chooses to stay too, and fight by his side. and he tells steve so in this very intimate, softspoken, delightfully suggestive conversation, which can be summed up like this:

and so they walk right back into the heart of the fight, only this time together, as they were always meant to be!

but. during an especially tricky mission, they're surprised by the enemy, and as a result, bucky falls to his death into a deep ravine.

steve is devastated. overwhelmed with guilt, grief and rage, he vows to bring down the people responsible for his loss, even if it costs him his own life.

and um, it kind of does? cost him his own life?

victorious after his last vis-a-vis with The Antagonist™, steve still chooses to sacrifice himself to prevent the catastrophe set into motion by the aforementioned Antagonist™. he's flying a jet over the frosty expanse of the atlantic, and you know, from the outside, you could easily argue that he could try to save himself. if he really wanted to. but with bucky dead, and the people responsible for all this pain, either dead or captured, it seems like all the will to fight is gone from steve; and so he plunges the jet straight into the ocean, and himself with it.

is this the end of their story?, you might ask.

the answer is: of course not!!!! the best is yet to come, babes!!!

Regarding the split!Kim AU I'm just gonna put my ramble of thoughts out on here.

1. Okay so what events led to Kim wanting to remove his younger self? What inner turmoil, self depreciating nonsense thoughts did he put himself through?

2. Where did Kim find this magic spell and how did he follow through with it without searching for it's consequences/side effects? Did he go down a black hole on the web and found the most reviewed witch/ spell out there to help him? Idk how to words more on this brainrot

3. How long was it till Kim hid what he did and how did young!Kim reach the compound??

4. What all young!Kim must be thinking and what did he do that everyone in the compound realized something was wrong? (Plus I hope Korn is dead in this, he doesn't deserve to be alive)

5. What was Chays reaction to young!Kim and how he takes care of him and spends time with him? (just being the most loving, and Kim feels so touched and full of unknown feelings because Chay?? the love of his life?? accepts and appreciates and treats young!Kim like he's the most precious in this entire world???)

Anon darling I'm kissing you on the forehead, you're hitting so many of my story points with these asks! I feel Seen.

I haven't decided what Kim specifically does/feels that makes him want to do this in the first place. Since I started the fic where it's already happened, I just kinda. Handwaved it. But he does comment on the fact that Chay has been pushing him towards therapy, so that's probably part of it. Kim would rather lose all his memories than talk about his feelings. He's also 2 years into dating Chay (which honestly. That's bc I wanted baby Kim to be 13, and aging Kim up to 23 gave me an easy 10 years to work with. Tbh it would work better if Kim were only a few months into dating Chay and he was willing to do anything to Be A Good Person/Boyfriend/makeup for the breakup. BUT I DIGRESS!) Anyway being with Chay makes Kim want to be/feel better, and this is his nuclear solution. It does not work.

I also don't know how he did it! I... hesitate to write white pagan magic in KP fics. Maybe Kim pulled a Porsche and went to a monk for help dealing with his traumas, and ended up with a modified past life ritual that ended up splitting him right down the middle. The most important side effect is the way Kim feels about his brothers now; Tawan trauma happened when Kim was a little older, so the Kinn his child self remembers is still very loving and happy, he hasn't pulled away yet. But for adult Kim, who's memories start when he was a teenager... there was so much distance between him and his brothers, and then he moved out a couple years later, so he feels like they're practically strangers to him. Like really distant family that you only see at weddings and funerals. Meanwhile kid!Kim is a precocious little smol who's cuddling both of them whenever he can. (Khun loves it, Kinn has no idea what to do with it but he loves it too. Adult Kim is jealous but wouldn't know how to accept affection from them.)

It all happens pretty much the next day/couple days later, as of the current time line! Kim goes to the temple and does his thing. Kid!Kim manifests wherever he was when the memory split happens; so he just. Wakes up somewhere in the middle of Bangkok, and has to find his way back to the compound. Meanwhile KimChay are living in his condo, obliviously going about their lives. It takes a while for Kid!Kim to get home, then he's sneaking all around because things are different and he doesn't understand why (and he keeps stabbing people, but like. stabby the Roomba more than murder); Kinn has to find him/calm him down/get Porsche involved and figure out what's going on before anyone thinks to call Chay (who's been busy having sex with adult Kim lol)

Korn is dead! Bc I'm lazy and didn't want to think about all the terrible things he could do to mess with smol Kim! Like I said, Kim is kind of a feral cat just let loose in the compound, surrounded by people he doesn't know and freaking out a lot, until the guards finally get him cornered in his old room and notify Kinn. Then eventually Chay gets a call from Porsche, and he goes to the compound with adult Kim, and it's a whole Thing.

Chay absolutely adores kid!Kim. He's absolutely feral but he's also a cutie pie, and he gets a crush on Chay quick. Chay loves it; he was such a lovestruck kid with Kim, now it's his turn! (And he teases adult Kim soo much about how he like likes him >,<). Adult Kim is weird with his younger self at first, bc as far as he's concerned, this may as well be a random child. So Chay schlorps him up quick bc the poor kid needs love. And Kim does come to appreciate the way Chay takes care of his younger self (he has some very odd memories about it when they're eventually reunited.)

My goodness, young Kim is so excited. At that age, he had all these dreams about the life he wished he could have, but he never thought it would really happen. But he got away from his father, he gets to chase his dreams of making music, he has a (very cute!!) boy that loves him, that he gets to love in return. It's all his dreams come true. Again, Chay thinks this is adorable, that Kim was such a dreamy little kid. (Kim is also so excited when he finds out that!! Chay lets him write songs about him!! that's so cool!!! And Chay writes him songs too!?!?!)

Like I said, at the start kid Kim may as well be some random child, he's vaguely curious about what happened but has no personal investment (kid Kim might be. a little. heartbroken about that. He's very sensitive.) But overtime Kim warms up to him, learns how to love him and take care of him. It's seeing this as someone else, rather than himself, that allows him to "forgive" himself. It's easy to blame himself for all the bad parts of his life when he's not looking that poor kid in the eyes. And bc I think cuddles are important, and Kim definitely wasn't hugged enough as a child, there's many snugs. There are still Mafia Things going on around all this that Kim has to deal with, so kid Kim spends a lot of time with Chay and his brothers, but there are a lot of times where he's asleep between KimChay. He kind of is like their kid in some ways. It's an odd dynamic for Kim, especially when he gets those memories of being cuddled by himself and Chay?? But ultimately it's a good thing for him. (Except the Porsche memories. He doesn't want those 😤)

once he realises he can slurp things up with yoshi's tongue he does it constantly, even when there's nothing to attack, and continues to imitate the noise long after the boys have finished playing

does this really cute facial expression that looks nothing like yoshi but the boys don't tell him that because he looks really smol and adorable

plays blue yoshi because he likes 'his little purple booties'

fake cries with Yoshi every time he does the weird fluttering thing after a jump

100% puffs his cheeks out every time he catches stuff in Yoshi's mouth

in general a precious cutie patootie when they play so the boys don't yell at him when he dies by falling into lava for the 30000th time

takes out every single enemy they come across, regardless if it needs to be killed or not

the boys switch on the badge that gives money when enemies are killed but then lino maxes out the coins so they switch it back off

plays blue toad secretly wishes he could be toadette but he's not gonna take it from felix

his favourite power up is the fire because with it he is DEADLY - best believe he'll be keeping it, enemies aren't getting near him with that shit

willing and able to steal people's controllers if they can't jump somewhere so he can do it for them

in general, he's super deadly and not to be messed with, carries a lot of the time and develops a tunnel vision mode where he can filter out the antics going on around him (mainly screaming because changbin died again)

changbin:

Secretly Awful at Video Games™ 2.0

delivers a huge speech about his love for bowser every time he appears, followed by an optional peaches duet with felix

lives for the boss fights even though they're not all that, cheers very loudly every time he hits bowser junior

gets personally offended if he gets attacked by one of the npc characters, gets even more offended when he inevitably fails to kill them

tries to move around when there are cut scenes (everyone can just hear him fiddling with his joystick)

started off playing daisy (hyun took peach) but then got banned so is a yoshi - he took red yoshi because he thinks he's the most badass

in general, he is the reason why the boys playing mario wonder is so chaotic

hyunjin:

refuses to be anyone but peach

extra dramatic when he dies, and cries irl whenever peach hits her head on the ceilings until minho threatens to feed him tissues

makes everyone stop if he wants to investigate some tubes, then sulks if there was nothing there

laughs hysterically whenever one of the yoshis have to carry an elephant powered up character, and tries to jump on chan/changbin's back at any given moment because his 'legs are tired'

actually manages to not die despite not being invincible like the yoshis or nabbit but is also sort of useless

enjoys the scenery in the background way too much (thinks the fluff puff peaks are super aesthetic, and it's fair enough)

in general, he's very dramatic (who's surprised) and highkey thrives off the chaos changbin creates

jisung:

huge chaos along with changbin

is actually good but plays nabbit because he tends to try to do crazy things and die so the boys ban him from playing a player that takes enemy damage

purposefully takes the power ups even though they don't work on him just to deprive minho everyone else

can and will freestyle/hum over the music while he runs around in the game, jumping on shit

loud screeching ensues every time they get a wonder seed and change into goombas/other trippy things because he thinks it's so cute

in general, just as chaotic as changbin but dies less + his freestyling over the music is kinda cool

felix:

plays toadette

massive cutie when he plays

copies game characters noises except in his extremely low voice or sings peaches when bowser comes on screen

always makes sure to squeeze changbin's biceps console changbin when he dies

always the one to revive people when they die, which leads to minho not letting anyone else revive him apart from felix

in general is seriously cracked but always waits for everyone to catch up when he plays (that one time when chan couldn't for the life of him climb up that one wall)

seungmin:

cracked

ruthless

purposely avoids people if they need reviving

fights with jeongin to get top of the flagpole

does rock paper scissors with jeongin every time they play to see who is mario and who is luigi

has to have the little crown about his head at all times, if not, he's going to do anything in his ability to get it back

roasts anyone who dies by falling off stuff (mainly changbin)

likes to dash while hitting enemies away with his trunk when he's got the elephant power up

in general, he's deadly and jumps with terrifying precision - this boy is never gonna die because of skill issue

jeongin:

alternates between luigi and mario because of seungmin

secretly likes luigi more but he knows seungmin wants mario so pretends he also wants mario

sometimes looks up the secret easter eggs etc. but he normally spots them before he needs to look it up

favourite power up is the bubble one because he likes jumping on the bubbles

makes sure to sit as far away from hyunjin as he can otherwise hyunjin will deafen him/cling onto him/do that thing where he agressively messes up jeongin's hair

in general, he's good - not as good as felix but he's unflappable and not distractable so tends to be seungmin's main contender

TOP 10 HEADCANONS/THOUGHTS ABOUT TURGONxELENWE:

I think their attraction to one another was instant. Literally I headcanon a "spotted across a crowded square in Valimar" meetcute, in which Turgon thinks "WOW THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SMOL WOMAN I HAVE EVER SEEN WITH MY OWN TWO EYEBALLS" and Elenwë is like "check out that stern-faced hottie with a bodyyyy" 👀👀. And of course Turgon is Socially Awkward AF, but luckily Finrod is RIGHT THERE to witness EVERYTHING and plays wingman.

As implied above, the height difference between the two of them is REAL. Turgon loves scooping his little wife up in his arms. Elenwë has never once protested about this.

My headcanon Elenwë is the daughter of a prominent Vanya, so she's very dainty and poised and lovely, but she also loves to laugh and be merry.

Elenwë thinks Turgon's social awkwardness is THE MOST ENDEARING THING and she teases him about it ENDLESSLY, but always with love.

Turgon is Bad At Talking, but he writes THE SWEETEST love letters, which is good, because for awhile they're long-distancing it from Tirion and Valimar.

Turgon is also Very Bad at Asking For What He Wants, always. But fortunately for him, Elenwë is very good at Knowing Exactly What Her Husband Wants, always. (But she will MAKE HIM use his words in order to get it, dammit! XD)

Turgon loves to plan things and sketch out plans for buildings and cities. Elenwë loves to watch him work, and will always come take his quill away from him and drag him from his desk whenever she senses he needs a break.

I think Turgon begins to hear faint whispers from Ulmo from very early on in Valinor, whenever he ventures close to the sea. He confides in Elenwë about it, she tells him it means he's destined by the Valar to do great things. To which he responds that he doesn't wish for greatness, only to have her by his side always. 😭

Turgon was THE HAPPIEST he's ever been in his life during the time Elenwë was pregnant with Idril, and he cried with happiness when his daughter was born with his wife's same golden hair.

Turgon had a lot of angst over the fact that his mother decided to stay behind in Valinor during the flight of the Noldor, and he feared that Elenwë would make a similar choice, not wishing to be parted from her kindred. It started not so long ago, end of 2020 ish? - I was big into RP (like, I've been writing since I was 12 lol), and my RP circle kind of fell apart (that's a whole story tho), and at some point I still wanted to keep writing, but I didn't want the pressure of depending on others, or others pressuring me to post daily/within a certain timeframe. So...I was introduced to fanfic, fell in love, and here we are!

I think one of my favorite headcanons for Bagginshield involves physical touch. I adore forehead touches, and see that as a strong way of loving communication between Thorin and Bilbo. But also, they're sensitive to certain gestures - i.e. Bilbo's ears, and Thorin with hair petting/beard scritches. I just find those fun to explore, and to read.

I don't know how much of an opinion it is, or if it's unpopular, but I think one of the biggest things to make me frowny face is when Bilbo is depicted as an UWU PRECIOUS SMOL BEAN. This is not your disney princess hobbit who loves woodland critters and all that (as he threw stones at them as a child...) he's a cantankerous bastard and that makes him so fun!

Hes an interstellar freight driver who crash lands on a death planet with toxic air and makes it back home so he can see his wife and kids again. While on the death planet he finds a cool bottlecap and saves it for his son :) Then when he gets back, his company is bankrupt because his coworker Louie ate a whole shipment of golden carrots and blamed space pirate bunnies. The President of the freight company sells off Olimars cool ship he just pieced back together on the death planet, then the president sees the cool bottlecap is worth more than a years wages and decides "oh yeah I'll take that as a company asset now and sell it to pay out debts, also you and the new hire are going back to the death planet from treasure hunting". And then while there Louie tries to eat every enemy including a ghost which probably possesses him. In any case Louie is heavily implied to end up trying to kill Olimar by piloting the final boss. Olimar just puts up with so much shit and despite it all he still has time to dedicate to his apparent interest of taxonomical research. He almost dies and took the time to think "hey this would be a cool gift for my son" hes so precious he deserves the world i love him"

Ollie and Rai, the cutest and most excited to meet you! I might photoshop Rai's eyepatch a little bit to make it cuter and green. She loves shiny trinkets and embroidery.

Xeria and Gwotbir: child traumatizers extraordinaire. Xeria is supposed to be chubby and Gwotbir is basically a brick wall, so just unskinny them in your head. Fun fact! Xeria is wearing a piece of Zabri's old vestments as her neck scarf.

Cira and Veq: they don't know you but they already hate you. Veq should have a little lion nose but when I put it on it was too cute, lmao. The dogs tags and jackets are from their time serving in the army.

Camrys and Nejen: the WORST to make in any picrew. For Camrys I have an obnoxiously specific idea of what his horns and glasses and default expression looks like, so I switched to a tiefling maker but he came out SO YOUNG. I shall need to tinker more. When it came to Nejen, every picrew either made him too human or too dragon so his icon is just going to be played by this photo of a horned lizard, lol. I might photoshop a little suit and a hat on him.

Chesa, Champion of Atera (goddess of luck) and Maja, Champion of Varn (goddess of war). They're in lesbians with each other <3

It's been mentioned a few times but there are a LOT of younger Champions we haven't met yet. These two cuties are my favorite of the whippersnappers. Chesa is the MOST PRECIOUS SMOL BEAN and Maja will kill you if you look at her wrong. They don't get to work together often, so they make sure to get in a lot of hand holding and smooches when they do.

Efren, Champion of Uena (goddess of the mind) and Lynn, Champion of Risa (goddess of healing)

Efren and Lynn are both Champions that specialize in helping people rather than fighting, but Efren is an absolute cinnamon roll while Lynn was trained by Rai and has the same 'listen I don't want to kill you but I do have a Very Big Knife and limited patience' approach to dealing with difficult cultists. They've met and are friends, but they don't usually work together.

Rasse, Champion of Shura (goddess of atonement), and Jian, Blessed by Isata (goddess of ceremony and ritual)

Rasse is Orin, which are a four-armed yeti-type deal, so I probably shouldn't have tried to make her in the same picrew but she came out really cute. Jian is her Companion, and if he looks a little like he might be about to cry it's only because he realized he's out of cigarettes. These two are the oldest of the young Champions, both in their thirties. Much like Kai, Rasse had a whole family before she took up divine arms. Much like Camrys, Jian was training to be a priest before he became her Companion. Fortunately they are NOT in a torrid romance. Jian calls Rasse 'Big Mama' and views it as his solemn duty to make sure she always gets home safe to her kids, atonement of sinners be damned. If only he felt that kind of protectiveness about his lungs...
