Chan:

As he said before, it's not like he's scared of horror movies, he just doesn't think they're interesting to watch. But, you're interesting to him and he loves you so he will definitely try for you. He also thinks he won't get scared cause 'nothing scares him' but oh boy was he wrong. You have to promise him extra cuddles because he's not gonna be able to fall asleep that night. Will also try to dissect the plot with you after the movie, and try to find meaning in the story just so it's less scary to him.

If he was never really invested into the horror genre, you could show him the classics like The Shining(1980), The Omen(1976), The Amityville Horror (1979), Psycho(1960) and then also some newer iconic movies like Get Out(2017), The Ring(2002), Sinister(2012), Hereditary(2018) and The Conjuring(2013).

Minho:

Loves it. Loves to try and scare you while you're watching a movie together. At first, you're so happy that you can share your love for horror with your significant other. And you know he really doesn't like jumpscares, so you try to find movies that don't have many of those. But if they do and Minho predicts a jumpscare, he'll grab you at the same time it's happening, making you jump out of your skin even though you saw the movie already. You kinda start regretting watching horror movies with him because he annoys you on purpose. He thinks you're so adorable when you're mad at him, but he wont push too far and he'll always make it up with cuddles and kisses later. Overall, 10/10 experience.

I feel like he'd watch almost any horror movie cause he's a curious cat (hehe) and you'd both share your favorites.

I don't know why, but I also feel like Minho would appreciate good old silent horror movies. I just think if he's a horror fan he may enjoy seeing the roots of horror. Like The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari(1920), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde(1920), The Phantom Carriage(1921), Nosferatu(1922) and Häxan(1922).

Changbin:

I don't think he's too scared of them but I think he doesn't really care for them too much? Though, if you have some interesting thriller or detective movies to recommend he will definitely wanna watch them with you. I think Changbin likes a movie that has an intelligent story with a plot twist. He likes to guess what's gonna happen next and when he's actually right he'll be so happy and proud. He'll keep talking about how he guessed the plot and how smart he is and how you have to give him extra cuddles now. Either way, you're cuddling and snacking the whole time while watching and it's just nice and cozy.

I think he'd enjoy thrillers like The Game(1997), Fracture(2007), The Machinist(2004), The Double(2013), Shutter Island(2010), Zodiac(2007) and 1408(2007).

Hyunjin:

Miss him with that shit cause he ain't watching it unless you manage to coax him into it. It's gonna take a lot of persuading until he finally gives in but you have to be careful in choosing the right movie for Hyunjin. He doesn't like loud noises and he doesn't really like to feel scared. He'd rather watch something for the story, especially if it's an emotional one, and he also likes character driven stories.

I think he could watch artsy or slow creepy movies that are more drama-like but have elements of horror like Pan's Labyrinth(2006), Dark Water(2005), Windchill(2007), It Follows(2014), The Eyes Of My Mother(2016), I'm Thinking Of Ending Things(2020) and Case 39(2009).

Jisung:

Okay, with this one you can go crazy. Any weird horror movie, anything kinda disturbing, deranged or unhinged will be right up his ally. As a horror and anime fan himself, he's seen some pretty weird stuff so experiment, I guess. I also feel like he'd like fun horror movies, idk how to explain but ones that are disturbing but fun at the same time, like you can't look away even though you're looking at a train wreck.

Movies like Funny Games(2007), The Ruins(2008), Suspiria(1977), The Perfection(2018), Perfect Blue(1997), May(2002), Audition(2000), Saw franchise and Terrifier series would be fun for him. Also, since he mentioned Paranormal Activity, found footage horror movies would be fun to watch with Jisung too like Creep(2014), REC(2007), Unfriended(2015) and Cloverfield(2008).

Felix:

This is just not happening unless you can bribe him with cookies, gummies or any other sweets and ofcourse many cuddles and kisses, even more than you share usually. You'll have to practically beg him to watch a horror movie with you or make some kind of compromise that you'll participate in some activity he likes more than you later. He's not gonna sleep all night if you make him watch anything too scary, actually he wouldn't even be watching that. He'd probably be hidden in your neck the whole time and even the creepy sounds coming from the tv will give him nightmares.

The only way to make him watch horror movies is if they're mixed with comedy or they're so bad that they're funny. Like the Scream franchise, The Cabin In The Woods(2011), What We Do In The Shadows(2014), The Happening(2008), Tucker & Dale vs. Evil(2010), Housebound(2014) and ofcourse zombie comedies like One Cut Of The Dead(2017) and Shaun Of The Dead(2004).

Seungmin:

Kind of indifferent towards the scares but I think he gets annoyed with plot holes and characters acting stupid. Rolls his eyes at every over used trope or cliche sentence. You actually end up laughing while watching horror movies with him because he's too cute when he's annoyed.

"How is this killer still alive? He's been run over by a truck ten times, this is stupid!" or "Okay but why is he going towards the sound? Is he that dumb, he's gonna die!"

He does like dry humor though so he'd like some black comedy movies with horror elements like American Psycho(2000), Parasite(2019), The Lobster(2015), The Menu(2022) but also if you want to annoy him on purpose (because he's cute when he gets worked up) show him slashers like the Halloween franchise, Friday the 13th franchise and Black Christmas(2019).

Jeongin:

With Jeongin, I feel like it can go either way and it definitely depends on the theme of the movie. Also, he will probably try to act brave in front of you (until he jumps at a loud sound and then gets embarassed). For some reason I don't have an exact subgenre of horror for him but for some reason I feel like he'd like newer horror movies like Us(2019), Nope(2022), Last Night In Soho(2021), His House(2020), Host(2020), The Invisible Man(2020) and Fear Street film series.

hi i've been in my feels a little bit since vanya posted the family pics and i just need to share it with someone. i am very much following all the competition updates and polls and rankings and techical elements and sport mumbo jumbo, but that's not what i'm in the mood to talk about. i need to rant about mushy emotional things.

i don't know, i just feel like this partnership/friendship/whatevership that b&v have has helped them so much in growing into good grown people and we're still only at the start of it. i can see it in vanya specifically. over the course of this last year he's becoming softer and more relaxed in his own skin and his new life. you can tell that this place bella lead him to has allowed him to be more carefree than he was before. which is especially important considering he lost his parents so young and had to leave his home to escape war. all people he knew before coming to the us, sadly including his brother, he has to chase around the world to actually be with them in real life. places he considered important to him he won't be able to see for years. i can't imagine not being able to see my family home or visit my family cemetary. those are very emotionally difficult things to deal with at such a young age and of course i'm just a spectator on the internet, but i feel like this place he managed to find half way across the world is safe and caring. and he found it by meeting the world's sweetest girl. a girl that believes in herself in spite of the odds and loves people very openly. she is fucking lightning in a bottle and her smile could power cities!!! people like that are rare to find and that girl is his partner. her energy and light make it so easy to forget how hard life can be. it's such an admirable quality of character. it's why people connect to her and her videos, she's welcoming and she radiates warmth and joy. she spreads it wherever she goes. i just find all of that so very moving. there's something so vulnerable and human in their circumstances. because if you really dissect it, them becoming partners saved her career and his life. they found each other by chance, managed to understand each other beyond language barriers and chose to do this thing they love more than anything else together. he repaired the trust her ex-partner broke. he never lets her doubt herself and always tries to catch her when she falls. she gives him peace and space to be childish and silly, even if it's at her expense. again i'm just a spectator, but i think he makes her bolder and she makes him softer. whatever they may be to each other, there's no doubt that they truly enjoy one another. i think that's the exact thing people get so attached to beyond the whole will-they-won't-they booktok fantasy. they make each other grow and you can feel it!!

sorry for waxing poetic about random athletes we found on the internet hahaha. there's just something very "mortifying ordeal of being known" about them, you know? kinda makes me slightly believe that the right circumstances will just find you when you least expect them.

My first instinct was to kinda deflect and say they're in their 'character development era' but honestly this is just such a beautiful message you sent here. I just wanna let it see the light of day (hope you don't mind) because I'm sure others have felt the same about B&V. I know I have.

It's part of what makes their chemistry to interesting to watch. Here are two people who have found themselves in the same place (for a second time), both of them with a dream of success, both of them going through a big change, adjusting to a new reality and still managing to make each other better people in the process. It's a beautiful story, even from the outside looking in 🤍

ok ok ok. a post about josh, buck, and maddie at dispatch as promised. (and because i dont feel like writing a whole separate post or repeating myself etc, if im pointing something out as evidence for my autistic josh headcanon, it'll be in parenthesis like this) also this is long because im going basically line by line in some places so just be prepared for that and such.

the first thing i wanna say before anything else is that like... as far as how this conversation fits into the larger narrative, i was fairly disappointed, due to the way that including this scene like this is kinda implying that the racism was fine because of being closeted etc. HOWEVER. luckily for my sanity it is pretty clear that from a character perspective, that's not at all what's being said by josh himself here, and we can be pretty certain that he is not aware of tommy's past behaviors. in fact he has almost no facts or context about the situation, which i'll get into later.

now that the disclaimer is out of the way, im gonna move onto character analysis and will not be touching on what i think the narrative might have meant etc. any further. like this is going to be purely talking about character dynamics and dissecting the dialogue etc.

we start out right away by skipping all the exposition right into a hard cut of maddie reacting to the news that tommy and abby were engaged. LOVE this set up we get right into the important part quickly and we as the audience only have to hear information that is new to us, not the information being repeated back to the character for whom the information is new.

and oh maddie. i love you so bad. she's like DAMN thats crazy, and then makes the obvious turning people gay joke. her energy here is sooo like it didn't make sense until looking at it in retrospect, but she's shocked and invested yet not taking it very seriously as a concern for buck, because well, she's having a baby and this is objectively not that serious comparatively <3 but i do love that she sees buck's reaction and quickly reins it in and is like woah im kidding im not actually being homophobic holy smokes. which. it kinda still is a little. but i think she's allowed <3

and then... josh enters the scene. he apparently only walked in as buck was saying "-kissed a boy" so of course he had to be like huh? gay shit? something gay? boys?? what's going on over here? and i love that for him. and i love that maddie immediately is like oh hi bestie i catch u up to speed on the tea <3 the maddiejosh bestieism is so back we never lose <3 and that fact that she's like. feeding in the facts in a way to dramatically amp up the tale i love it. she really said man the things my baby brother gets himself caught up in are wild.... anyway <3 true sibling behavior is finding the perfect balance between being supportive and being so so annoying <3

and she is supportive still. like when it becomes clear that there's something deeper going on here she does try to help him work through it. and its so interesting to me the way she is sort of seriously contemplating his words and is shocked when josh not only speaks up but is being very serious and equally focused on the problem at hand. it's like... she's trying so hard to figure out how to help her brother with something she doesn't fully understand that having someone else speak up to help them kind of shocks her and boy does that say something about their lives and the buckley sibling dynamic!

side note, the way josh is jokingly like "she didn't bring her personal life to work, unlike SOME people" and maddie's little look of mock offense?? they're so cute i cant handle it.

i also really love how the shots are framed during this conversation. at first, even when she's not talking and is just listening to josh talk, maddie is still in frame, we're still getting her reaction, she's an active participant in what's going on. and then there is the one shot where she's talking and josh is out of frame, hidden by buck, because whatever reaction he might be having isn't important, it's a buckley sibling moment. (he's not an active participant at that point; he's entirely observing and reacting and gathering information, not dictating the direction of the conversation whatsoever.)

it's only when josh gets very serious and it starts to turn into a heart to heart moment just between him and buck that maddie is allowed to leave the frame. it still goes back to her in very brief cuts when her reaction is relevant, but she steps back out of focus and let's josh handle the conversation. and i love that so much. thank GOD someone else is helping buck sort out his problems that isn't his parentified sister or just generally someone more marginalized than him. it was kind of getting irritating to watch, as much as i love buck so much. like dude... the emotional labor. watch it.

and man. this conversation guys. everything about it makes me an insane crazy person. ive already mentioned this in the tags of some other posts but like... its so fascinating because on the surface it is such a cohesive conversation, but when you really break it down and analyze both of their expressions and body language alongside what they're saying, you can start to see the cracks in it. what one of them is saying is not what the other one is hearing, in both directions. they are having two different conversations and i think it's critical to analyze both of those conversations and how they are interacting with each other. what josh says, what josh hears, what buck says, and what buck hears are four entirely separate things happening alongside each other.

the first part is josh trying to get a sense for how serious this relationship is to buck. when buck falters at the question of "do you love him?", he elaborates with follow-up questions that, to josh, define "love" or close enough to it. answering "yes" to those questions is close enough to a "yes" to the question of "do you love him?".

(which. ok. the particular choice of questions makes me insane because they do essentially boil down to "do you prefer this person to solitude and grant them an equal or greater importance to yourself?" which is sooo... it's said from the point of view of someone who greatly values their solitude and would not easily grant someone that level of importance.)

unfortunately, well, buck is NOT someone who greatly values his solitude, and puts other people before himself quite easily. buck would answer "yes" to those questions for basically anyone. josh does not know or understand this about buck and takes buck's answers at face value, while buck is taking this as sort of... it's hard to explain, and i think others have done a better job of capturing buck's perspective already tbh. he's convincing himself that he loves tommy here because josh is unknowingly handing him that information and expectation, and buck loves to mold himself to fit an expectation etc.

and then comes the second part, which... i think this is where it is most critical to realize that josh has none of the context about tommy, abby, and buck and those respective relationships. by his own admission, he didn't really know much about abby or about her breakup with tommy beyond the fact that it was upsetting. he didn't hear the way tommy talked about abby to buck at dinner, and he definitely didn't get to see any of the real fallout and damage to her psyche that tommy leaving her caused.

but buck did! im not inclined to rewatch s1 to get any exact quotes or anything but from what i remember, she either outright said or implied that she was so heartbroken because tommy left her because of her mother's illness. buck is understandably very upset because he understands exactly what she went through and how, unless abby was lying to not out him, he didn't exactly come clean with the breakup, and left her feeling like it was her fault, like there was something wrong with her or she was being weighed down by caring for her mother. he calls tommy's behavior exactly what it is: dishonest and cruel.

but josh doesn't know this. all he is hearing is a young, freshly out bisexual calling a gay man "dishonest and cruel" for having been engaged to a woman for his own protection. and he responds exactly how you'd expect! he reminds him of queer history and the fact that he doesn't really have a right to judge the people who grew up and had to survive in a world that was much less safe to come out in.

(and i said in my other post that's still doing numbers that "pre-Glee/post-Glee" is an actual queer discourse talking point and makes sense that it'd be used here, as awkward and cheesy as it seems, but it's also a win for my television/film/popular media/hollywood culture/etc. as a special interest headcanon. <3 we love to see it)

and it kills me because of course buck is just going to take this at face value and decide he needs to stop feeling the discomfort he's feeling, leading to the subsequent doubling down and over committing that is typical of his unhealthy relationship patterns.

(and then at the end of the speech josh has to literally announce that he's leaving DSJFHJKDSKJ. because walking away/ending conversations is so awkward and difficult and the easiest way to mitigate that is to lean into the Dramatic Homosexual Stereotype mask or whatever <3 i've long been of the opinion that josh is someone who uses the behaviors associated with queer men and queer masculinity as the blueprint for his neurotypical mask, which is why he often comes across as being just a little bit off from the Funny and Bitchy Gay vibes that it seems like he's going for. and boy did his exit from this scene just reinforce that headcanon so hard!)

they wrap the scene with a little bit more levity too which is kind of nice to like. move on from that. because it got kind of heavy there for a second.

overall i do like what this scene accomplished, but like i said at the start, i think it has some really unfortunate implications that weigh it down for me. still, always nice to get more josh content, especially when it's pretty consistent with his character as established AND not at all related to doing his job. we got to see him and maddie being goofy and maddie being allowed to let someone else deal with buck's problems for a second. and the whole thing was very well shot! excellent camera work going on throughout.

okok so first of all; general hcs !!

he likes art!! loves art!! this one is canon to me i just think he is so interested in any and all of humanity’s creative outlets and ofc art is the most prominent one. he loves all different forms of art — from sculptures to paintings to writing to video games (HEAVY on the latter btw i think he's so entranced by new technology) and so on.

and on that note!! i think he paints and writes himself :3 hes been alive for so long, learned so many languages, there's no way he didn't have time to pick up a paint brush. i think he paints to release stress!! and his styles vary but there's something mildly macabre abt all of his pieces. tends to gravitate towards expressionism above all else, especially the abstract kind.

i also feel like he sincerely enjoys ”bad” art like low budget movies and modern romance fiction and goofy video games…… he just thinks they're fun. def gets a good laugh out of them (this man canonically had a whole comedy phase he just wants to have fun!!)

and and and!! this is self indulgent as hell but i also think he cooks. there's just so much to learn when it comes to different cultures and their cuisine and i think they all interest him. but i hesitate to say that he's a good cook bc i feel like he’d make really weird fucked up food combinations just for the hell of it…. he's a freak. 100% the type to mix orange juice w black coffee just to see how it tastes.

i also hc that he has a soft spot for children, seeing as he literally carried and birthed one of his own LMAO... i just think he admires the innocence of childhood !! that childish and simple hope that adults tend to lose. he's very good w them too!! gentle and patient. and in geto’s body he has the softest nicest voice so i feel like kids gravitate towards him (i'm just thinking abt that One scene where he blows bubbles at a playground and all the kids chase them… they love him i just know he's a regular at that park)

OH AND……. idk if i’d call this a hc exactly but i just wanna see kenny in more feminine clothing. he literally has All the genders i don't think for a second that he cares abt gender norms. one moment he's in that tacky middle aged divorced father core hawaiian tshirt (he's so Me), the next he's wearing a purple floral dress or a puffy turtleneck <33 i just think he could pull anything off.

NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF……. relationship hcs <33333 hes a whole red flag but hes also my silly pookie bear just trust me on this

FIRST OF ALL he's huge on quality time. if he's in a relationship w u then that means he sincerely enjoys ur company and therefore has a tendency to just bring u with him wherever he goes. otherwise he gets bored and starts whining abt it (silly silly man) hes a lonely guy ok </3 i feel like he gets very sudden urges to explore new places / do new things and he’ll make sure you’re right there w him !! you’ll wake up in his arms only to find you're in a snowy forest or some shit and he just WILL not tell u where he's taken u bc its ”a surprise ^_^” LMAOO

he also takes on a teaching role in the relationship and i think that's where hes happiest !! gets a kick out of it but it's also kind of special to him. especially if you haven't seen much of the world, or if you're just a naturally curious person — preferably both. he just enjoys teaching you new things, leading you towards new sights, drinking in your expressions and reactions. it's precious to him. something to cherish.

ON THAT NOTE i think he has this unquenchable curiosity that gets temporarily sated when he tries to like . Dissect you. see inside your mind. it's like hes solving a puzzle that never runs out of pieces. hear me out riko but i see him as somewhat similar to makima, he's detached and has trouble connecting w people and handles you almost like a math equation….. but since he unlike makima is a human being, i think he still has the capacity to grow to care for you and treat you like an equal (or something close to an equal). he genuinely does love you, but he's rusty. kenjaku just wants to know all there is to know about you — every single thing. he’d dig into your brain if he could, but he’ll settle on just brewing you tea, listening to you speak about your fears, hoping it’ll give him the same insight.

he's a little possessive . kind of a Lot. idk i just think he feels a pang of jealousy when he sees u laugh and have fun w someone else (he's like a preschooler getting pouty bc his bestie is playing w someone else LOL) and that makes him Uncomfortable so he just waltzes in and steals u away w a smooth smile and a hand on ur waist. pretends like it doesn't bother him in the slightest but if u tease him too much he drops the smile and gives u a Look (it's scary as hell so u immediately shut up LMAOO) and god forbid someone else is like… teaching u something… a subject they're knowledgeable abt while u sit there listening happily to their rambling……..... ohhh he gets so jealous it's funny. researches that particular subject in frightening detail JUST so he can correct your little friend and teach u abt it himself <33 weirdo. freak.

also (this is extremely important to understanding kenny's character) he's both mother coded and father coded but in the worst possible ways.

he's mother coded in the sense that he's a smidge controlling, good at coaxing you into doing things outside your comfort zone, an expert at making you feel guilty by acting especially sweet and gentle, has the ability to make you cry w one disappointed look etc etc

and he's father coded in the sense that he's easily offended but pretends not to be, wants to see you succeed so bad that it's almost more for him than you, forces you to have really deep onesided philosophical talks at 2am when you just want to sleep, sucks at voicing his love for you out loud so he just buys a bag of your favorite fruit, cuts them into slices and calls it a day. etc etc. he's awful actually. i need him

but !!! as for more soft hcs i think he's honestly an affectionate guy deep down… like deep deep down but it's there. he just likes having u close. preferably touching him. not constantly bc that’ll annoy him but he wants you to stay near so he can pull u into his lap whenever. loves reading to u while u rest ur head on his thigh, playing w ur hair and lulling u softly to sleep <3333 (it's the geto kinnie in him) AND idk why this came into my mind but i think he likes nose kisses. just bc ur face scrunches up and he thinks it's cute. he can be sweet !! probably.

OHHH AND he loves playing board games w u <33 everything from chess to monopoly. he thinks it's fun + a good bonding activity but it's only fun in the beginning. he's condescending if u lose and petty if u win but he’ll still ask u to stay up w him all night just so u can finish the game (he's insufferable actually) if u decline he’ll huff and play by himself while shooting u petty glares until u feel bad and join him. then he's back to being all suave and calm and mature ohhhh i hate him

he wants to be the mature stoic indulgent person in the relationship sooooo fucking bad but he’s plagued by silly impulses day and night. he’s just good at hiding it. but deep down he is and always will be a silly nerd <33

and finally; i think that in a no curses au he's significantly less of a freak but still weird and obsessive and a lil mean. bullies u just a tinyyy bit and acts condescendingly sweet but he cares for u a whole bunch. probably struggles w showing it in a way that isn't too overbearing or mildly alarming… maybe through writing. poems and paintings of u… sculptures…. just wants to portray the beauty he sees in u (can u tell artist!kenny makes me go a little crazy)

overall hes a weirdo hes a freak (def wants u to kiss his brain just to see how it feels) and he may or may not be a bundle of red flags but i love him dearly <333 hes a silly goose. i want to study him in a lab

This feels like a trolley problem but there is no lever and there is no alternate track. you are simply watching a group of people suffer

game is first person PSX psychological horror in space, and i mean some real psychological horror shit. Pony Express long haul ship Tulpar gets stranded in space after an act of sabotage. you will run out of food several months before air. no one is coming. you bonce back and forth between Jimmy, co-pilot suddenly turned leader after a devastating ship failure, and Curly, former pilot turned crispy meat man after a devastating ship failure. the psycho-sexual tension between them is radical

the reason the game is called Mouthwashing is because it's revealed early on that the ship's highly important cargo? the thing you are under absolutely no circumstances to touch? something that needs a full 5 man crew monitoring it 'round the clock for a full year?? mouthwash. tons and tons and tons of mouthwash. this is the only thing the crew has to possibly supplement their diet, which i feel like really sets the tone. from there things go from bad to worse to worse to catastrophe to worse. just. the whole domino effect of how things collapse is one of the best i've ever seen

the characters aren't bad people (mostly >.>), they're just perfectly normal dudes just trying their best. the game then goes on to show what happens when a group of perfectly normal dudes are pushed to the absolute brink. what if you were trapped in an elevator with your coworkers who you only vaguely get along with. hell is other people. but also hell is yourself and how you're treating those other people. also i can't call them out for obvious spoiler reasons but multiple instances of characters just causally dropping a line that had me like. "oh. oh shit. OOOOOHHHH SHIT!!!!!" love it when something like that happens

ok i think that's as much plot stuff as i can get into without major spoilers (tho since i'm Mouthwashing Posting non-stop everyone here has already seen plenty of spoilers lol, but i feel like this game has a lot of stuff that makes fuck all sense outta context) ok gameplay stuff now

for reasons i'd need an entire separate post to explain Mouthwashing is the sort of story that can only be told via a video game. there's a lot of unique things about video games as a media that people are only really starting to dig into, so if you're even a little interested in that i recommend checking out the game on that alone. the story is told non-linearly to excellent effect, and if you're looking for some good unreliable narrator?? OH BOY!!!! 👌👌 i know the term "walking simulator" is typically used derogatorily but i fucking love a good walking sim. it is really, really hard to pull off a horror walking sim imo given the genre is sorta chill by nature, so that's also a feat of it's own. you are watching people suffer, you are undergoing suffering. it is a game that feels like it actively hates you for playing it because by playing it you have let all this happen

the game is about 2-and-a-half hours, only like 13$ on Steam, and will probably go on sale for Halloween. if you wanna watch a playthru tho (like how i discovered it lol) i highly rec Vinny Vinesauce's 👌

i wish i knew more about the dynamic between john and george because for as much as i'm able to gleam from the long paper trail john and paul left behind of how those two were insane for each other + what little i can pick up about paul and george, there's very, very little about john and george. so here's what i got from the scraps.

george seemed to idolize john pretty early on into their relationship. he was reported as following him and cyn around like a little lost puppy, accompanying him on dates much to john's annoyance. he saw him as this cool, gruff rocker that he wanted to emulate (even though john himself was emulating figures like elvis). that stuck with him for years and years but it all started crumbling as the band started to fall apart. i think, in his mind, as he grew to understand john's facade and how his behavior really was behind the mask, the illusion that he'd created for himself didn't really work on george anymore. they fought often, from what i understand, and it strained their relationship but didn't really break it like with paul. the tipping point had to be when klein came into the picture to sign himself on as their manager after brian's death. paul opposed, whereas george, john and ringo did not. then the split happened and they all went their separate ways.

unlike with paul, george did actively communicate with john and collaborated with him (see, how do you sleep?). i think there's an instance where george showed up to john's 30th birthday with a present and sang "it's johnny's birthday" to him. but it wasn't always sunshine and rainbows, given the specific interaction where george yelled at john that he "did everything you said, but you weren't there" in reference to his performance at madison square garden. it makes me ache to see george say "i want to see your eyes, i can't see your eyes" about john wearing sunglasses and repeating that he still can't see them when he takes them off to replace with his glasses. as if he's saying "i can't understand you anymore like i used to". and john saying "i'll go out and help him or whatever it is he wants me to do. if he wants me to go out on stage, i will". it's all very bittersweet.

for as much as i say george loved paul, i think he also loved john. whether it was more, less or equal to the love he felt for paul i can't be certain. i do think there is a lot more affection on john's end that with paul though, as if there was a chance that they could've been a thing had john not been so deeply attached to paul. like--john had sex dreams about george!! frequently too it seems like. and that quote, john could be a volatile man to every person in his life, including but especially toward the other beatles. it was a push and pull with him, inciting fights that were useless in the grand scheme of things due to insecurity and a whole myriad of other factors. however, he was also reportedly very tender and loving when that volatility was dormant. so reading that quote reads as a moment of care for george, that he's aware he's been a shit and wants to do whatever he can to amend that. plus there might also be jealousy sprinkled in there, like with john being unable to perform w/ george at the bangladesh and walking out of the movie screening when bob dylan showed up. as if he was afraid in that moment to be up there with him but later regretted it when he saw how he was with bob.

it's interesting how these two work compared to the obsessive toxicity of mclennon or the bitterness of mcharrison. there is an obsessive element as that's inescapable when talking about john, paul and george, but one that's almost a dichotomy to mclennon. i wanna say they're kinda parallels but i don't know. in any case, i love this dynamic very much and it also deserves a spotlight for further dissecting.

to end this off, i'm gonna do the same thing w/ the mcharrison ask and leave some fic ideas/general ideas i like or wanna write eventually to balance it out;

since there was talk of how john was obsessed w/ brigitte bardot and how george kinda seemed to take that idea on a whole nother level (i.e. comparing pattie to brigitte when bragging about her to john) as a means to impress him, idk i thought it would be interesting to write about george dressing as her one year and seeing how john reacted

hamburg…………..in my mind, george's hero obsession was pretty strong during that period of their lives when they were first beginning their trips over there. so like. john and george hooking up a couple of times to see what it would be like. that is all

this idea is one i've been dying to write forever and it's kinda mashed with another fic i'm already writing but, george is pissed paul keeps referring to him as a little brother when he wants to be more, so when he storms into his hotel room that they're staying at to confront him, he finds john instead waiting for him. they both hash out their grievances but it quickly spins out of control as john starts egging george on about what he might do to him if he were there instead of john

ok this one's a bit out there but………what if john invited george to paris with him instead of paul. how would that turn out? (or the other version where john invites george as well as paul at the same time, oh what shenanigans they would get up to)

john being possessive over george......sorry idk why this idea in particular permeates my thoughts so much

Okay so. I kinda wanna dissect the Royal Twins usage of celebrities. Cause like. Okay I hope I can explain this well.

They're not celebrities. At least, kinda. The definition of celebrity means to be famous or very well known. The important thing here is that you have to be known. These fuckers are hardly known by the main cast, most of which are celebrities ( Piers, no matter how infamous he may be, follows this definition. Leon is way more of a celebrity than the twins, etc). You could make the argument that the player and Hop aren't celebrities, but they were on the gym challenge. They were on TV. The player is the literal champion and people know them. They are, by definition, celebrities. And yet the Royal Twins don't see them as that.

" oh but they do have a following" that's true! But that following is very weird. It feels more....cultish? I don't want to throw around the word cult like it's nothing, so excuse my language here. But there's also something not right about them. Sordward/Shielbert would say " clap for me" and they would do that. I dunno. It's weird. I don't know if this happens in real life but. Yeah.

Anyway, going back to how they talk about themselves as celebrities - not only are they not well known to the general public, but they see being a celebrity as something higher. Like bc they're celebrities, they get to have valuable stuff "non celebrities" shouldn't have. They are worth more than others, and most importantly, what they have been told is obviously more true than the research Sonia did.

I skipped ahead on their dialogue but they do believe that the whole thing about Zacian and Zamazenta being heroes are lies. They do believe that it was the humans,not the pokemon that saved Galar. Which is interesting. A lot of what the royal twins do is for their own ego and self gratification, of course. But I think there's also an element of them lashing out at the fact that they're world, the lies that built up this image in the first place, is exactly that. A lie. They are determined to show the world "the truth", despite it never being true at all.

Of course, I still need to comp through their quotes. Maybe check with the manga to see if that angle is explored or not.

I put my whole writerussy into that fic so I am very happy you enjoyed it LOL. you are indeed correct that aventurine and mc are two deeply traumatized people who got together - I actually wrote an afterword that touches on the specific theme of their trauma response. self-objectification & the fucked up power dynamics of their relationship are a direct consequence of their trauma as having been trafficked (and abused) as commodities. they don't know how else to view themselves and each other, so that is the shape that their relationship has taken - and their relationship allows them to find agency and experience a kind of intimacy despite this trauma. you can read that afterword if you are interested in dissecting that specific dynamic a little more!

but in general I love exploring cycles of abuse and trauma. I love writing about the ways in which people are distorted by extreme trauma, and how they can survive and love each other despite it (and often they love each other in wrong ways in my fics, but it is always a kind of love nevertheless). I particularly love writing aventurine because he is a character who has been deeply traumatized (in specific ways I relate to), but survives despite it. and in canon, he does struggle with loving himself because of that trauma, but in my fics I like to explore ways he can find love despite that (even if it involves some self-inflicted gaslighting and manipulation on his end HAHAHA)

I wanna put all my current thoughts about Dissection in one post for my readers. (warning for discussion and mentions of suicidal ideation and eating disorders... also this is very sappy)

Let me give some context to Dissection. It was gonna be a one shot...

And I write a bunch of angst, hurt, whump, and it so rarely puts me in a bad headspace. Often the opposite, I'll write when I'm upset, and feel better after. But with Dissection, every time I sat down to write that first chapter, I wanted to try it at home, it was really bad.

What Toad was doing was so alluring. I thought about it so much that I'd fall asleep with a pocket knife on my bed, tucked in with my stuffed animals.

The rest of Dissection is me just trying to move Toad and I away from that place, bit by bit, making it up as we go.

And I've realized that one reason I'm stuck on Dissection is I'm not desperately trying to get away from the beginning anymore, it's no longer why I want to continue Dissection. It's not a matter of protecting myself from myself anymore, I don't need to do that right now. I wanna keep updating Dissection cause there's more of it to tell and I'm pretty sure others wanna see what happens too.

So, what does that mean for the fic? I broke my monthly updates streak, and updates will come to you whenever they come to me. I'll try to pick up the pace, but monthly updates probably aren't happening again, because I don't need them.

This is a good place for this to happen. The next chapter is a longer one for the logistics of getting Toad out of the hospital. And then he'll leave it and readjust to life outside it.

In a way I'm scared to write this, because while I'm doing better than Toad in a lot of ways, y'know, at least he's employed. By the mafia, but still. Idk what I'm talking about, writing about someone getting their shit together.

But I'm also really excited. I have so much outlined and written already. He still has a long way to go. His eating disorder will come back into play. That area of my mental health seems pretty immovable. But there's also a lot more fluff coming up, slice of life. Warm drinks.

Q: What is the deal with Lucille?

A: Lucille is another collateral casualty of Jedidiah's research. He left his college dorm to stay back home with Lucille, after his resurrection of Sydney went... wrong. Just like his father, she came to know too much. She passed in the same manner, inexplicably and without warning, upon which... Jedidiah found himself with a unique opportunity. It's important to note that he was not in his right mind during this time. Sydney was his first try at necromancy on a real human person, before that it was just pigs from the anatomy lab, since... it's not like he had any chance to practice on humans prior. No dead human bodies lying around... chance to practice... dead body...

Oh.

Lucille was brought back. Much the same as Sydney, something went wrong... she became quiet and shaken and refused to talk, but she still watched... she still understood. Then, when her son one day vanished, she went looking. The information that killed her was actually coming in handy now! She doesn't remember much besides the fact that she is a mother, and she needs to find her son.

Q: Does Adam ever literally vivisect anyone/ anything?

A: Adam typically dissects things after death. He has a certain fascination with taxidermy... or, well... he enjoys seeing how things work. He likes opening them up to observe their insides, studying what lies beneath the surface to make them tick. The taxidermy is more of a byproduct of his studies. He enjoys fixing them and making them perfect again, cutting out all that would rot and fester, and then delicately re-assembling the exterior into something posed and pristine. He pins bugs too, extending their limbs and splaying them out to examine every moving part. The vivisection thing is more metaphorical, as he wants so desperately to pry open Elijah's mind and see what he's made of... but Elijah is a living person. Usually the things he's slicing open and sifting through are dead. Not this one though... not this one.

Q: How did Sydney make it out of the hospital? Did he run away, or was he discharged?

A: Sydney approached another patient, and his weird effects caused them to have a LOUD and VIOLENT existential meltdown. It caused a massive scene and distracted all the nearby hospital staff... meanwhile Sydney slipped away unnoticed. It happened in a kind of 'Frankenstein's monster' way though, Sydney didn't understand why they were afraid. He ran off not because he had plans elsewhere- but because he was scared. He scrambled off like a lost puppy to track down Elijah. He'd overheard many conversations between Elijah and Adam both while comatose, and while in his disoriented non-verbal and spacey sort of recovery period. He knew they'd be heading off to the camp any day now... that's why he got up to search in the first place.

Q: Are there romantic undertones to Elijah and Adam's dynamic, or is it purely a dependent friendship?

A: In my mind they're only platonic (I think it makes the dynamic more interesting/ makes Elijah's attachment more multidimensional). But you can interpret whatever you want ;3. Also Adam carries an air of homoeroticism wherever he goes, so, idk I don't blame you if you wanna see them kiss

Q: Why is Jedidiah appearing in Elijah's dreams specifically?

A: Jedidiah's interest is PURELY in Sydney/ the limn, but... reaching Sydney is nearly impossible. Sydney is an anomaly in time, and as such, the Horologist can't break through to him in any way more meaningful than spirit-box-garble. Even if he could reach Sydney... he doesn't want to make things even worse by giving him even MORE unknowable knowledge! He recognizes Elijah from their shared time watching over Sydney in hospital... he knows that Sydney followed him here for some reason. He recognizes that Elijah may be a very useful tool in figuring out what's going on, and attempting to fix it. Fixing Sydney is all that matters to him... Elijah is a means to an end, and Jedidiah is willing to feed him doses of that forbidden knowledge for the greater good! Just little clues... little pushes in the right direction! The information is making Elijah exponentially more unstable... that much is clear, but that's not a concern. It's nothing personal. The ends justify the means.

Q: In the fic you wrote (Proof of the Angel by Breathingrapture on AO3 ;3) what's the deal with Adam's Apple at the end there???

A: Remember Lucille's super secret plant? The one she was violently protective of, demanded nobody touch, and hid the true nature of beneath the surface? The roots... the diseased magic tendrils which hung from the ceiling underground... and held onto Jedidiah's journals? That forbidden plant is now a forbidden apple tree. Nobody knows what's so special about it. Ms. Graves is fiercely protective of it, and demands that NOBODY eat the trees fruit. But... of course Adam of all people isn't going to listen! (Haha biblical allusion hehe forbidden fruit Adam and the apple... the apple grants something different than knowledge this time, though).

Hello! I think you probably don't remember me, but I'm the anonymous that loves giant women and is, like, half way through planning the fic inspired by your Fem Danny that will one day, hopefully, exist in something other than daydreams.

I just have to take something out of my chest but I don't have anyone to talk about this, so I'm sorry for just showing up — I just wanted to say that I started paying attention to DC after devouring my first DPxDC crossover, because I love crossovers and I love DP, but like, the more I know about that thing (searching details to write the fic), the more I would like to just bleach my mind

I'm not saying that everything is bad, it's just that the bad things are so, so bad that it destroys the good stuff for me to the point where I would never see the character in the same light — because everything that happens in one comic is cannon in a universe, so yes, someone really did that — and I'm not going to say what I found out recently because it's bad and I don't want to pollute your ask with that information

Superhero writers are crazy, both Marvel and DC, and I have no idea how their editors allowed them to post some of their works thinking that everything was going to be ok, because, like— *inhuman screech* I don't even have words!!!!

(this is just my rant because I'm vanilla -extract- and even if I like my characters with so many flaws their flags are painted red by the blood of their enemies, I still have lines, so I'm sorry for just putting this here, you can just ignore if you want)

And honestly you're super valid here! I was tentative to post this because, like you mentioned, it's a vent. But I wanted to let you know that it's okay! Don't be sorry about just randomly showing up, it's really good to hear from you even if it's just to get something off your chest <3. I don't know all the terrible stuff in comics that have happened, but I do know some basics in DC -- like Bruce's abusive parenting -- that i've heard about. And you're right, it's totally crazy what happens in these universes, and it can be really hard to overlook them even if they're from different worlds.

I'll admit, I'm none too good at giving advice for stuff like this but the best thing I can say -- and I'm assuming and seeing from your ask that you probably already are -- is that you eventually learn when to pick and choose what to take and what to leave. And whenever you see something unpleasant a character did, it's one big resigned sigh and an "of course" before deciding to ignore it. Which can be hard! It's a lot of practice. Take your time processing and coming to terms with it, and moving on!

No shame in being vanilla extract either! It takes time and exposure to slowly become okay with things -- and that's only if you want to, ofc. Some stuff that I'm interested in now are things I wouldn't have touched a year or two ago. Everyone has their lines, I can't stand dissection/lab experimentation fics and I doubt I'll ever actively write them, I can imply and write the after effects of it happening. No shame in it :)

Hello 👋 I'm the random guy with the idea of whale saiyan subspecies from a month or three back, I've been having more ideas based around other mammalian animals, and I wanted to know what you though about them. I wanna say first that if I make a spelling mistake, I'm very sorry autocorrect beat my ass, also not all of them will be very long.

Beach dwelling saiyans

These saiyan's were inspired by seals. Basically, these saiyans adapted to living on more beach/ocean based environments.

Now these saiyans range in size, some being, 8ft tall 840lbs, and some would range near the teens to 20 ft tall, and being close to 10'000lbs or more but on average, many of these seal-saiyan's would being large, and much heavier thanks to their blubber. Seal-saiyans still have their legs, with webbed feat. Their tales have become larger and evolved to help swim, better, and balance themselves during fights. They are also covered in hair like seals themselves, making them somewhat huggable, but their not squishy. They may look it, but their body is very dense. Now, for a body type, think of them like strong-men, for both male and female seal-saiyans, they chonk but their muscle-chonk, hence their dense frame. Also, many of them have very cute faces, and you can surprise huge a seal-saiyan, besides the elephant seal-bulls, and overall the leopard seal-saiyans.

Savanah saiyans:

These saiyans were inspired by african-wild dogs. They're larger than the earth canine species, but smaller than saiyans, they come in pacts, are very family bonded, and for 5 like the canines themselves, the kids are priority number one. Now then, can you huge the Savanah-saiyan, teachically yes, but you may be missing a limb or multiple, unless they give your permission OVER TIME, you can't touch um especially even get near the kids. If you do gain their trust, then you can start building near the hugs and other things of such nature.

Tropical saiyans:

These saiyans are inspired by capybara's. These are saiyans living near the tropical river of their homeworld. Now they are much larger than the animal and infant, just bigger than baseline sayaians on average, just like the animals themselves and the memes. These big saiyans, semi herbivorous, saiyans are strait vibes, everything you could or cannot do with the previous two, you could do that and more with these guys, now from time to time their are little battles between big males, these guys, do tend to box over territory but besides that, towards outsiders if said outsiders aren't just blatantly disrespectful, their vibes.

So yeah, those are so saiyan subspecies I thought of, I've been thinking of bunch, but I just wanted to throw down a couple anyway. If you get to read this, wanna know your thoughts? Thanks for reading and bye 👋

The water ones are I'm trying to wrap my head around but that's just my brain trying to apply the basic Saiyan traits to them to see the functionality but it's not a bad idea, definitely interesting.

The Savanah/Tropics saiyans do peak my interest mainly because I can apply most of my thoughts from the climate and other things they'd be able to do in the space.

Personally, I'm someone who tries to find the most functionality within the environment first if that makes sense. They can do (this) but not (this) because of where they are or what resources are available to them. I'd often weigh the advantages/disadvantages of the environment.

Like how I have the Sentos structured to be "dual-climate" equipped to where they can survive in both a hot tropical and cold climates that limits their number disadvantages because of environment. The worst would probably be is that Sentos' senses are dulled in the snow regions.

Not me knocking you because you're still cooking but this is just how I'd try to dissect to either understand, visualize the concept.

Her name is/was Cloudy! She's a weird bug-like alien who I'm currently figuring out what to do with because she's a huge self-insert and I feel like I can't do much with her in her current state because I have trouble putting a pin in what makes me "me" so writing her is difficult. As far as "what music would they listen to" I do have some ideas:

The Merchant would like hard-girl-pop (whatever genre Remi Wolf and Marina and the Diamonds are) and Chappell Roan (once again hard-girl-pop and she's also a lesbian like her). Anything upbeat with an edge to it, really. She'd probably also like punk rock, like Weezer or the Beastie Boys or Blink-182, anything catchy and just a bit cheesy/lame (I mean this affectionately). Also Joan Jett and Heart! Anything with women who rock and go hard, really

The Surgeon would listen to depeche mode because they have odd yet darkly erotic vibes. I feel like he'd be into that weird kind of new wave 80s music in general. He also probably listens to horribly numbing elevator jazz (also saying this affectionately as someone who loves this music too). POV you're getting stitches and the doctor won't stop humming along to the "your call is put on hold" music he's blasting in the background

The Paramedic also likes depeche mode for the same reasons. Other than that I can't think of music she'd like...maybe someday I will think up more for her

Q loves bubblegum pop. He'd also like cheery love songs, probably from the 60s or earlier because they tend to have no swearing or overtly sexual themes. She's not a prude, he just gets squeamish around listening to that kind of thing. I feel like Q would also listen to a lot of chiptune and video game soundtracks (Bubblegum K.K. from animal crossing comes to mind as a potential fave of hers)

Jean Doe would listen to breakcore and metal, anything loud with a lot of bass (partially because they're hard of hearing and like feeling the music). They probably prefer instrumental songs over songs with lyrics. They're also very proudly french canadian so there's probably some underground drum-and-bass group from canada that they really like, but alas, I am not super into that genre so I do not know any specific artists they'd listen to...

The Renegade would be a total music snob about her favorite genre...but I have no idea what she's listen to. I almost wanna go the classic "stuck up formal lady listens to only classical/orchestral music" route but I feel like it might be more interesting if her favorite music genre was something unexpected for someone to be snobbish about, like non-serious rap or boy bands or joke/parody songs or something. Starting to actually like the "she's stuck up about the quality of parody songs" concept. She'll put on The Saga Begins by Weird Al and pour a glass of red wine before launcing into a tasteful rant about the ingenuity of using American Pie to create a star wars parody (it's clever and funny on a surface level but it also accurately captures the musical odyssey that is American Pie combined with the sprawling narrative that is star wars, you see, so it has immense dual thematic value--)

Other than that I have no other music thoughts...too many ocs not enough brain space lol but I especially love thinking about their music tastes :D

19. What are some things that inspired your stories? Real events? Maybe a dream?

That's funny that this question mentions dreams because I do have a character who is inspired by a weird recurring nightmare I used to have. Still working on how to fit him into my story as a whole but he's neat I think. Most of my other story ideas are just things I find interesting or messed up or cool or compelling tbh :)

29. What was your first fandom you were in? Did you make any art/fanfic for it?

I joined tumblr back in 2016 for steven universe actually! I was also into homestuck at the time so those were my main two fandoms. I still think fondly of homestuck (mainly the intermission though) and although I never finished steven universe I still think it's a pretty cute show. I didn't start making fanart until mid-2020 (I literally only drew my ocs haha) and I started writing fanfic (again only wrote about my ocs) in early 2023

ok so having watched today's episode... ngl I just miss the trio working together yk... like yes we have a lot of new characters this season n we need to dissect them, but i feel severely deprived of the trio dynamic :(((((

Also, I miss Mabel sm. Like yeah she's there but I just wish we got more of her. Mabel is going through a big shift in her life n I rly want to know more about that. Someone said that the writers need to stop giving Mabel a love interest in every season n ngl they're so right. Like Mabel is such an interesting character n I want to fully explore her.

But yes, loving Charles and Oliver this season. Oliver's sass is to die for, but ughhh that man needs to rest.

God I just want Charles to be happy for once. That man has suffered sm. Like I just wanna give him a big hug n want him to allow himself to feel *lowercase* joy.
