You aren't exactly on holiday in Finland. It should be your honeymoon but since you caught your groom balls deep in your maid of honour you instead have used it as an escape from the country. You just cannot be around the people you love right now, can't have them all look at you with all that pity. Even worse is that some of them probably don't even blame him. Your former best friend is a size 8, perfect hourglass figure. Your former partner is trim and decently fit. They look like they belong together more than you and him ever did.

You hate yourself. You hate looking in the mirror. You hate how clothes fit you. You deserved it you think.

"Not a chance MacTavish, that's my wife!"

"Away and biel yer heid, I saw her first!"

"Actually I saw her first!"

"I outrank all of you muppets so I think you'll find that is my wife!"

It's a racket in the little cafe but you don't pay much mind, still just staring out the window and wondering if you could ever deserve anything. One of the servers comes to take your empty cup and grins at you, telling you in her heavy accent that she would personally go for the one with the mask since he's the biggest. You don't understand when you look around and there are a lot of locals smiling happily over at you while four Greek Gods of men are having a scuffle, moving slowly in your direction. More people chip in, arguing about who you should pick, some lamenting that they would claim you themselves if they thought they could.

One big man does try, basically some Viking God, but he's playfully (you hope it's playful) spear tackled by the man with the mohawk before he laughs and backs off.

When Gaz with warmed cheeks and excitement in his eyes gets to you while Soap is busy with the viking and Ghost and Price are wrestling one another he asks if you'd do him the honour of being his wife. You nearly choke, but he explains that the wife carrying competition is today. You look around, bewildered, ask him why he wouldn't pick any of the other women in here given that they are all gorgeous slim things.

"Fuck all use to us, need a nice soft bird with lots of fat" says the man in the mask.

Price scowls and whacks his lieutenant upside the head because he sees how you look a second away from crying.

"You're gorgeous sweetheart, he didn't mean anything by it. The prize is the wife's weight in beer though, so he's right about a little lady not being much use."

You don't know what to say. You don't know if this is mortifying or not given that everyone around you seems to not be looking at you with sneers or laughing at you, but instead looking with soft smiles that convey fondness. They think this is adorable.

"Dinnae listen tae their nice soft birds and sweethearts! I'll be a better husband bonnie. I'm shorter aye bit look at the power in these legs, naw going tae drop ye. And I'll split that beer 50/50!"

And then they're arguing. The four of them are arguing and trying to put forward a case to you about why they would be the best husband. When it starts to get raunchy, you fluster and stop them. But fluster is something. It's not self loathing. It's been weeks since you felt anything but self loathing. So even though you are sure everyone can feel the heat rolling off of you in waves at how bashful you are under so much attention from such attractive men, you pick one (the others are devastated but vow that you're only a wife for the competition, that after they should get another shot at convincing you that they're the best option).

And they do. Even though the man you picked doesn't win (gets DQ'd actually since you are heavy and he decided that you were getting over that damn finish line so the four of them took turns) they take you out for drinks after. You think you feel humiliated that they couldn't carry you a long distance, but you don't have time to sit with the feeling because they drown it out with how warm and giddy they make you feel.

They insist that they will compete next year, so you have 365 days to pick a husband. When you make a quiet comment about how you'll lose weight by then so they can carry you the whole way, they nearly riot as they assure you that they would be a shit pick for husband if they didn't spent the year getting stronger so they can carry you just how you are. Plus they'll not be losing any beer thank you very much.

By the time the next wife carrying competition rolls around you are a different person. You're wearing clothes that fit instead of trying to hide your body. You laugh and flirt back with the barista instead of assuming they are making fun of you by flirting. And you don't care if your husband makes it over the finish line, just that you have fun and laugh and joke about the attempt. Of course it's not entirely certain who that husband is yet, got to keep them on their toes after all.

ajax’s head turns when he hears the short honk from logan, the other whirling past the speeding sedan to trail beside ajax’s bike. he watches as logan brings his hand up, two fingers jutted out, and makes a pointing motion somewhere in front.

ajax follows logan’s signal, sitting up on his bike to see past the hoods of the cars, before catching sight of the infamous ‘ghost rider’ – a funny name given that the bike doesn’t remotely look like the harley that was used in the film, but one that stuck anyways. it was dubbed by a fan after seeing ghost in his first ever rally and ghost, with his sleek black skull mask and extra flare, took upon the name with pride.

but that’s not what logan was pointing at, ajax’s sure, because perched behind ghost’s bulk is a smaller figure, one whom ajax remembers hearing about – ghost’s darling girl. the man’s other half even when they’re polars of each other; sun and moon, or however else the two are described.

ajax isn’t really sure who started the rumour that the two are opposites because last time they all met, simon and his girl were equally… grossly in love.

finishing each other’s sentences, actions matching up even when they’re not looking at each other, defending each other’s honours type of grossly in love.

simon pulling his girl’s chair towards him because – and ajax thanks the otherman’s tact – it would have been too much if he just plucked her from her seat and plopped her on his lap type of grossly in love.

but ajax understands why – you’re simply such a beautiful person.

ajax’s not a shy guy – he’s sure shyness naturally gets replaced the moment one begins trusting themselves with their lives as they take on a bike – but there he had been, stuttering when talking to you. you had asked him how he knew of ghost and ajax swears it was like he almost forgot anything about himself. even how to ride a bike.

but you were so genuine with your interest in getting to know him that he felt so relaxed being around you; stutters getting replaced by the sureness in his voice, previous embarrassment getting trampled and replaced with comfort. ajax left that night feeling like he’s just been adopted as your older brother, lack of blood relations be damned.

logan’s light honking snaps ajax from his thoughts again and he turns to his friend, sending him a nod, before the two are revving their bikes to catch up to ghost rider.

when the two are close, logan splits from ajax until they’re flanking ghost on either side. it’s ajax who presses his horn button to catch ghost’s attention.

it’s laughably endearing how both you and ghost whirl your heads to turn to ajax, and while ajax can’t see ghost’s expression he’s blessed to see the way your glare melts away the moment you make eye contact with him.

one of your arm untangles from ghost’s waist to offer ajax an excitable wave. ajax raises his hand and points two fingers to the ground – ride safe! – hoping that you understand what it means, let alone know that it means anything.

ajax’s eyes flit towards ghost’s head and even though the other man is all visored up, ajax sees him nod back before returning the gesture.

logan honks on the other side of the pair and ajax watches as the interaction was mimicked. you give logan a happy wave as well and logan, the bastard, replies with a flying kiss.

ajax laughs when ghost flips logan off.

He just so happens to be the last person to see Nate before he disappeared and you can't help but get the feeling he's not being truthful in his statement about it.

Ok, sometimes in your life you get those people who you think are just really cool and seem like a genuinely awesome person to hang around with? That's you. Your that cool person with the cool blogs that are just cool. So, I first followed your askhoennlegends blog on my other blogs because I thought your art style was crazy good. Huge awe over it. So much so I made a pixelated sprite of your necrozmafied kyogre. I think at the time that was one of the biggest sprites I'd ever made. Shame I don't have that sprite anymore because it's pretty neat. Anyway, the mix of a radical art style with some goofy-ass posts really appealed to me.

Next was the Vekpa blog. The same thing again. This badass art style paired with a goofy Pokémon had such charm for me. Vekpa is the dad I think everyone wishes they had. Fuck, you draw him to look so soft and snuggly??? Bingo and Lunch probably enjoy the fuck out of that. The antics and responses that Vekpa has given has cracked me up sometimes. Lunch's birthday bash was a real hoot!

Now you've got your mewntwo blog. You've pushed the whole mouse thing onto these fuckers and it's just an absolutely super design for them. Like, it makes sense. It works so damn well. I gotta appreciate it. Line art? Smooth as fuck with super line weight attention. Fucking awe inspiring. Choice of colours? Big yes. It's all so pastel-feeling. It makes me feel warm inside. Like, how do you do that?? Are you a wizard??? I wouldn't be surprised. You've got an absolutely gorgeous art style and it's definitely inspired me. I sometimes take a loon at your posts when I'm feeling a bit garbage about my art just to inspire me.

Please. Send your characters to interact. Please. I beg of you. It would be an absolute honour. The implications of it would be fantastic. Honestly, send Vekpa to Flint. That shit would be hilarious as fuck. My man would not be able to handle it. Honestly, Destino could and would make it a personal challenge to make Vekpa cry. Ticking off pissing off legendaries one by one like a checklist. I really do adore all of the characters you've put out. They're genuinely loveable and each charming in their own ways. Only Friends Ep 10: Brief Thoughts on All the Pairs

SandRay:

"Sand, please understand me. Being with me requires patience."

They absolutely NAILED this episode! The way they handled the progression of Sand and Ray's scenes was so satisfying for me. I mean, I'm aware that Sand and Ray had their fair share of issues in previous episodes, but let's put all of that aside because this episode was about Sand's efforts to get Ray the help he needs.

From Sand's initial attempts to persuade Ray to go to rehab, the adorable flirting between them, to Ray testing Sand's courage (revealing his truth to his dad) without ACTUALLY making him to do it – it was all brilliantly executed.

And I couldn't help but CHEER when Ray tossed his bottles into the trashcan. LIKE THAT'S MY MAN! The entire confrontation between them after Ray discovered that his dad paid Sand to take him to rehab was SO intense. I CRIED. Like it's definitely one of, if not the best scenes, from this show.

FirstKhao's performance really touched me deeply, and Ray's emotional monologue in rehab at the end was incredibly heart-wrenching. It was a realization that Sand had been there for him all along without expecting anything in return. I must say, they executed this episode exceptionally well!

BostonNick:

"I'm nasty too. Don't we deserve each other?"

BostonNick has always been my favorite OF pair, hands down. Their dynamic can literally be summed up with, "Don't we deserve each other?"

Because, yes! Like people portray Nick as a pitiable victim of Boston's manipulation, who lacks self-respect, but it's FAR MORE COMPLEX. Nick isn't just a sad heartbroken loser. He's also a nasty person, as he admits.

Both of them have engaged in toxic behavior and done hurtful things, but deep down, they are just human. The reason Nick keeps returning to Boston, despite attempting to move on, is his pure love and understanding of Boston, a connection that no one else shares.

Nick has gone to great lengths, stooped really low, to attain Boston. So obviously, he cannot judge or punish Boston for the terrible things he does. Because they're equally deranged, your honour! Nick GETS Boston. And that's what moves Boston, especially because friends simply abandoned him without giving him a chance. They didn't even try to hear him out when he tried to defend himself. They all left. But Nick? Nick came back! Even after everything! Even after promising he won't!

Nick is the only one willing to give him another chance and risk it all for him! This sets Nick apart in Boston's life because Boston struggles with love & hurts people, but Nick is the one who believes Boston deserves love.

And damn, are they perfect for each other? Boston using the same method Nick originally used to seduce him in the first episode, a photo on his phone, to win Nick back? Delicious. Boston admitting that he doesn't take good care of things he owns? Nick saying that some things can't be replaced? Lovely metaphor game.

And then the rooftop scene. Obviously, both are trying to grow and become better, but it's clear that change doesn't happen overnight. Despite Nick promising he'd never show up in front of Boston again, he ends up on the rooftop with him. And Boston, who's trying to be more responsible with what he cares about, still attempts to act like he doesn't care when Nick arrives. Their personalities haven't suddenly transformed; they're simply trying to become better versions of themselves.

Boston slowly lowers his guard and decides to be vulnerable. And what actually flipped the switch for Nick is Boston admitting that he misses him, the first time Boston genuinely expresses something akin to love for Nick. And then all hell breaks loose. For the first time, they make love, not just fuck. Ugh, they stole the show.

TopMew:

"You won't believe anything I say right now. But I will prove it to you."

I'm sooo sorry, but for some reason, TopMew have never resonated with me. I think it's because they've never had a truly sincere connection?

Initially, Top was interested in Mew simply to "try" being with a virgin, which is why he pursued Mew. He eventually develops real feelings for Mew, but by this point, Mew is unsure if Top's intentions are genuine. Mew tests if Top meets all his "criteria" or not. When Top finally "checks all those boxes" & Mew finally starts to trust him, Top ends up cheating on him. And now that Top is trying to win Mew back, Mew seems to be using Boeing as a way to teach him a lesson.

Their entire relationship feels like a game where each one is trying to gain the upper hand over the other. The "3-month dating rule" almost feels like a challenge. Initially, Mew plans not to sleep with Top for at least 3 months to see if Top can commit. Now, Top is attempting to prove that he can sustain a relationship for more than 3 months. Their storyline is honestly the worst for me.

I'm not suggesting that they don't have feelings for each other, but I don't find their dynamic enjoyable, and I'm not convinced they should end up together. I don't know if that'll change?

But then it seemed to dissappear into the mists of time. Femslash weekend has brought it back in abundance though and I am screaming with joy.

5. Currently reading: I think I've done an ask about what book I'm reading fairly recently. So instead, I'm on Adult fanfiction.net...remember that? Revisiting some of my favorite Book Sherlock Holmes x John Watson fanfics that never made the journey across to AO3.

6. Currently watching: The Fall of the House of Usher. It's not October for me without a Mike Flanagan series. And I'm giving True Detective a try. Gritty southern gothic x lovecraftian vibes.. It's perfection!

Thief solidarity

Ruggie doesn't have too much of an opinion on Quinn, but he is slightly intimidated by how aggressive and violent she can get. She is fully willing to stick a knife in your eye, he does not want to get involved. That aside, he does admire her sticky fingers and how efficient she is at stealing stuff. They rarely interact so he doesn't have much else to say.

Quinn, on the other hand, likes Ruggie despite not knowing him well. She thinks he's sly and street smart- both are admirable traits. Other than that, she doesn't think of him much. He's cool.

They have a mutual respect. They don't know each other that well and don't interact much, but if put together they will get along.

Quinn offered to take of the "Leona problem". Ruggie declined.

They're gay, your honour.

Jade finds Finn very interesting as well as cute, and has taken to manipulating what he can to spend time with him or see him more often. They get along very well. Finn is always willing to listen to Jade talk about his hobbies, which fills Jade with immeasurable joy. Finn's rarely seen menacing and sadistic side has just drawn in Jade all the more. And he's in the same club as Malleus Draconia? Colour him impressed. This eel is so in love and he doesn't even know it.

Finn adores Jade. Jade is quiet, respectful and level in his energy so that's an automatic win. Plus he's attractive, somewhat sadistic and mysterious? 10/10. Finn invites Jade for tea often and they will sit in the botanical gardens together when they have time. Jade listens to his ramblings about music, and he listens to Jade's ramblings about mushrooms. Finn has fallen hard.

They both get along great, are greatly intrigued by one another, and definitely exchange information they've learned about other students. They're both head over heels for each other, but haven't quite realised yet. Floyd is losing his damn mind watching them interact.

Crowley thinks Finn is an excellent student. Good grades, is not problematic mostly, is quiet, and respects his teachers. They've only closely interacted once, and Crowley refuses to admit that he was quite spooked by the sudden flash of twisted teeth...

Help, Finn hates Crowley. He's loud, obnoxious and overly prideful. The loudness is the worst. Finn is sensitive to noise and it hurts his ears. He avoids Crowley like the plague, and honestly holds MC in higher regard. At least they get stuff done.

Crowley likes Finn, Finn does not like Crowley. If Finn could, he'd eat his headmaster. But he never said that, be quiet.

I adore the complicity between them, the teasing jokes and intensity of their love (gonna cry fr wow)

not a top 5/top 10 ask, but it's still a ranking question: you said before that Katara, Santana, Marceline, Korra and Asami are your top 5 favorite characters of all time and that Korrasami, Bubbline, Brittana, Hollstein and Catradora are your top 5 ships of all time. How would you rank the characters that are part of your OTPs but didn't make it into the list of faves of all time (Brittany, PB, Carmilla, Laura, Catra and Adora)?

Well first off I'm honoured you'd be binging my blog, hope you had fun! Second, fun question let's get into it.

Hard to choose between Hollstein and PB, they're so similar in terms of appreciation in my mind. In fact, one of the great essays that never was is a Bubbline and Hollstein comparison post. "Of Nerds and Vampires," ah yes, posts that will always just be half-finished word docs on my desktop. But all that said, Hollstein are so equally matched to me they have to be following each other and I can't bear to put PB third because I've come to love her so much. So:

Bonnibel Bubblegum - She wins out because she's SO different from what people first expect of her and I just love her in all her tyrannical glory. A much, much more complex character than many give her credit for and I adore the moral grey area she lives in. Definition of women can be war criminals too.

Laura Hollis - It feels kinda strange to rank her above Carmilla as Carmilla is basically just My Type as a character and I did start the series preferring her. But Laura grows on you and she's just so damn endearing in all her naïvety and relentless optimism. I just find characters who stay kind and compassionate no matter what so damn compelling. Being nice is a superpower.

Carmilla Karnstein - Do not worry Carmilla isn’t far behind. She’s the OG lesbian vampire, what else is there to say. Well, lots, from tragic backstories to moral ambiguity to a desire, despite all that, to be good in some way. Even if that goodness only relates to connections with others, but I mean what is ‘good’ if not what we do for each other. Very Character. Much Vampire.

Brittany S Pierce - I feel there’s a clear distinction between the top three and bottom three here but I still very much like the bottom three. I think ranking Britt here above Catradora is just me being in my Glee brainrot era because I do find the other two more well-developed and compelling characters. But just in terms of how I feel right now and because I’m actively in the Glee fandom but haven’t rewatched She-Ra in a long while, I’ll say Britt. My love for her is reignited literally any time I watch a scene she’s in. Precious unicorn.

Adora - Again I feel like I “should” rank the more morally grey character first because that’s more my type but Adora called to me. Differently than PB or Laura did, more in the Korra way. If Bubbline and Hollstein are parallel versions then Korrasami... well their parallel is Supercorp, but Adora is a different universe and hero’s journey version of Korra. You know, I never used to go hard for protagonists before Korra but here I am with Adora now as well. She’s Anxiety™ and martyr complex and truly just has so much baggage but she gets her happy ending and I love her journey.

Catra - I do have a slight not like other girls bias against Catra, I must confess. By which I mean that after a certain point a character gets so popular that even if you see the appeal you kind of get turned off, which I’ll call the Zuko Syndrome. Both because he’s the first example in my fandom experience and because, well, I think there are other similarities with these two. But for real Catra is a super super complex character and I’m nothing if not a lover of messed up female characters. Catra is so deeply flawed in a way that I instinctively turn away from because it hits too close to home but also am drawn to because the story is so... kind to her. I do think her redemption is done well in a sense that it’s not like she faces no consequences but she’s also allowed to heal and move forward, exemplifying what’s so beautiful about SPOP. Frankly I don’t think audiences deserved a ch like Catra, from some Discourse I’ve witnessed, but I also think SPOP teaches us that it’s not about what we deserve.

Honestly this isn’t even a question, I just want you to know that I very much appreciate Aubrey. ❤️🫀 I like him so much it’s hard to even imagine romancing anyone else. I have so much in common with him! I love art (I’m mostly a writer but I am trying to teach myself how to draw), the macabre/horror, I love cats (I have a pet kitty named Nala), I get bored easily and if I’m not interested in a subject, I check out (I actually have ADHD, depression, and GAD), I like to have fun and live in the moment… I’m also bi like he is! Oh, and no kids for me. I’m an older sibling and damn… I love my younger siblings and all, but they taught me that parenting isn’t for me, like, at all.

I have a lot of fun with Aubrey and he’s a really fun and interesting character~ but oh my god he makes me laugh sometimes. I love how overly honest he can be, like at the Feast for example. “You look well, but I enjoy the unusual…” and then he goes on about how unusual the MC looks 😭🤣 I get it though, sometimes I can be overly honest, too. 🤣

I’m actually asexual, though *ahem*, but Aubrey doesn’t seem like he’d mind that. It’s just different to him. That’s one of the things I love about Aubrey, he’s enough happy to be with the MC. ❤️🫀

I just woke up, slightly dour, sluggishly checked if there was something new here, and was greeted by this message - let's just say that I definitely feel more perky now! This was a delight to read, I'm sincerely honoured that you enjoy Aubrey so much, and that you took the time to write this message to me! It truly means a lot, so thank you so much for this!
