It's Saturday night and, like almost every Saturday night, Eddie wishes he didn't have to be at some jock party. The flashing lights, the scent of cheap mixed drinks, the incredibly mediocre loud music... And worst of all, the fucking jocks. Everywhere.

'Eddie!'

He looks up to find Steve, with a dopey smile on his face, basically skipping towards him and throwing his arms around his neck. Oh. He didn't know Steve still went to parties like those. Hadn't seen him at any of them in a while. But as soon as he gets wrapped up in an enthusiastic full-body hug, he decides there's one jock, and one jock only, that he doesn't mind running into at those parties.

'Eddie, what're you doin' here?' There's an unfocused look in his eyes and he wobbles on his legs a little bit, grabbing tighter onto Eddie for support. The touch burns through Eddie's t-shirt and he tries to ignore the shiver running down his spine.

'I didn't know you liked parties!' Steve drops his voice, slurring: 'I thought you hated the jocks.'

Eddie can't help but smile. 'I hate all jocks but one, big boy,' he tells Steve. 'Not here to party, only to get some cash.' He rattles with the metal lunchbox in his hands to illustrate his point. 'Can you let me go now so I can get on with my business, pretty please?'

'Noooo,' Steve says with an exaggerated pout. 'I'm too happy you're here! Dance with me!'

Eddie chuckles. 'I don't think you're in any state to dance right now. Jesus, Stevie, I don't think I've ever seen you this wasted before. Thought you were planning to pick up a girl tonight?'

'I was,' Steve says, suddenly sounding oddly serious. 'But it doesn't matter. Just needed to forget. The rum helped, too.' He frowns. 'Til you showed up.'

'Forget what?' Eddie asks, trying to make sense of this drunken string of words.

Something happens; something that's been happening quite often lately. Steve's eyes flash downwards, just for a second, right to where Eddie's lips are.

Eddie's heartbeat involuntarily picks up speed.

'What did you need to forget, Steve?' Eddie asks again.

'Can't tell you,' Steve mumbles so softly that Eddie can barely make it out over the loud music. 'I don't wanna make you feel guilty. I'm not judging you, y'know. 'S fine.'

He abruptly lets go of Eddie and takes a step away from him, stumbling right into some girl who pushes him back with an annoyed scoff; if Eddie weren't still standing right behind him, he would've fallen on his ass for sure.

'Alright, you're not making any sense tonight, big boy, but I can't in good conscience let you stay here by yourself. How 'bout I'll drive you home?'

Eddie glances at his watch. If he hurries, he can probably still be back to do what he came here for before the good part of the party is over. He does kinda need the cash.

'Can't,' says Steve. 'Can't go home with you.' Something in his voice is breaking and suddenly there are tears in his eyes, and Eddie still doesn't understand what's wrong; he feels like he's overlooking something huge, something that should be obvious.

'Let's just go outside to talk, then?' he suggests.

'Can't. Dance with me, Eddie.'

But when Eddie starts gently tugging Steve towards the open door leading to the garden, Steve easily lets himself be led outside. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath when the cool night air reaches his lungs, as if one gulp of fresh air will instantly make him sober up. But he's still swaying on his feet, making Eddie grab onto him tighter.

Eddie likes to think of himself as moderately strong, but unfortunately, hauling 180 pounds of muscled jock around is starting to take its toll on him. He spots a bench in a secluded corner of the garden and guides Steve towards it.

'This better?' he asks.

'Yeah,' Steve breathes out. Even now that they're both sitting down, Steve keeps clinging onto him. 'Look at the stars, Eddie.'

Eddie looks up at the scattering of lights twinkling far above them - but he can feel Steve's eyes still burning into his face.

When he directs his gaze back to the guy sitting next to him, Steve's face is even closer than before. The starlight is reflected in his hazy eyes, tiny specks of silver hidden in various shades of brown and black.

'I wish I could kiss you,' Steve whispers, looking at Eddie with nothing but admiration behind that glassy drunk gaze.

Eddie almost forgets to breathe. He knows that it seemed like he and Steve were headed exactly toward something like this for a while now, but he still can hardly believe that it is real. That Steve Harrington is really looking at him like he's just as precious as the stars in the sky above them.

He brings up a hand, gently caresses Steve's soft cheek.

'Maybe you don't have to wish,' he whispers back, unable to stop his eyes from flashing towards Steve's beautiful lips for a moment. 'Tomorrow. When you're not drunk anymore. If you still remember this.'

'No.' Steve shakes his head, so fiercely it makes his hair flap in all directions and his complexion at least two shades paler. 'Can't.'

'Why do you keep saying that, Steve?' Eddie asks softly.

'Cause.' For a moment Eddie thinks Steve is gonna grab his ass, but then... he randomly frees Eddie's handkerchief – the one with the skulls – from his back pocket.

'Cause of the Russians.'

Eddie can only stare at him in confusion.

'They tied me up,' Steve all but whispers. Eddie hates how small and broken his voice suddenly sounds.

He has always known – broadly speaking – about what happened to Steve and Robin miles beneath Starcourt last year. He's never actually heard Steve talk about the details, though. All he knows is that he and Robin were captured by Russian spies and somehow made it out alive. He could always see how difficult it was for Steve to talk about it whenever it came up, but he never wanted to pry. And now here they are, at some goddamn high school jock party of all places, and all of a sudden Steve willingly brings it up.

'I was with Robin,' Steve continues, still in that scared and broken voice. 'And they tied us to a chair. We couldn't move. And they – they hurt me. They hit me. 'Til I was bleeding all over. I thought I was gonna die. Robin thought I was dead.'

'Jesus Christ, Steve,' Eddie breathes out, tightening his grip around Steve's torso.

'So I can't,' Steve mumbles, holding up Eddie's handkerchief as if it's some kind of logical explanation for whatever it is he's trying to tell Eddie.

'Wh- What?'

'I know what it means, Eddie,' he says, as if he's even remotely making sense right now. 'You know John?'

'Who the hell is John?' Eddie only keeps finding himself more and more lost in this conversation.

'My cousin,' Steve says, like it's obvious, like he's ever talked about some cousin named John to Eddie before. 'The one in New York. He knows all about that shit, right? He sends me the good magazines sometimes when my parents aren't home. That's how I know.'

'Know what?'

Steve only waves around with that stupid handkerchief again.

'You're flagging, aren't ya? You like pain. Like BS... BM...'

Eddie feels his jaw drop.

'What the fuck are you talking about?' he asks. 'It's – this is a metal thing. It looks metal. I literally have no idea what you're – flagging?'

Now Steve's face finally mirrors the confusion Eddie has been feeling for the past ten minutes.

'Are you serious?' he asks, for one second showing more clarity in his eyes than Eddie has seen all evening.

Eddie nods.

'So it's not...' Steve stops himself, swallows, frowns. 'You're not into, like, hurting people and shit?'

And finally, it all clicks together in Eddie's mind: the repeated chorus of I can't, the story about the Russians, the goddamn handkerchief... Flagging. BDSM.

'Why the hell would I get off on hurting you, Steve?' is all he can get out of his mouth.

And Steve honest-to-Satan starts giggling; it sounds so relieved that Eddie kinda feels like giggling too, scary metal image be damned.

'I dunno, it's more common than you think,' Steve mumbles. 'I wouldn't judge you, alright? But I knew I could never give you that. No matter how much I like you. And then you'd get bored of me.'

'Oh, Steve,' Eddie whispers out. 'You don't need to worry 'bout that, I swear. For all I care, we can have the most vanilla sex in the world forever. Or never have sex at all. As long as it's with you... I'm good.' Eddie cringes as soon as the words leave his mouth: it sounds too cheesy, too sincere. He kinda hopes Steve will have forgotten this particular part of their conversation tomorrow morning.

But Steve doesn't look at him like he thinks it's stupid at all: his eyes are wide and he's smiling a soft smile.

'You sure? You won't get bored?'

Eddie chuckles. Now that he's being too goddamn cheesy anyway, he might as well double down on it. 'I can't imagine getting bored of getting to hold this body in a million fucking years. In any way you'll have me.'

Steve heaves out a relieved sigh before he buries his head against Eddie's chest.

'Can I bring you home, now?' Eddie asks.

There's a twinkle in Steve's eyes when he lifts his head again.

'Ooohhh... You wanna have the most vanilla sex in the world with me now?'

A chortle escapes Eddie's lungs.

'Um, maybe tomorrow, when you're not drunk off your ass,' he answers with a wink. 'For tonight, just lemme get you to bed, 'kay?'

'Okay, big boy,' Steve answers, and Eddie can't help but laugh before he presses a kiss against Steve's forehead.

Lately I've been thinking about getting into transformers, but I don't know where to start. So I wanted to ask you, a professional fan, what should I watch and what is better to avoid, if it's no trouble for you, thanks :)

okay this is a tricky one because Transformers is over 40 years old, every few years they reboot the series as a fresh new AU continuity, sometimes they have several continuities running at the same time, and sometimes 3-4 series in a row are actually the same continuity, and sometimes they give different continuities the same name.

Before going in, you've gotta know a little bit of lore: the Autobots led by Optimus Prime are the good guys, the Decepticons led by Megatron are the bad guys, they're fighting for control of their home planet Cybertron (and possibly the galaxy), and the series usually starts with the Bots & Cons bringing their war to Earth. there that's the lore

So, here's several potential starting points and why:

Transformers One (2024)(movie)

this is the only one worthy of being above the read more.

one of the newest pieces of transformers media and one of the goddamn best transformers stories we've ever gotten. It's a backstory to the aforementioned war; it's a FANTASTIC introduction to several of the most important characters, tropes, places, and plot lines in the franchise; it's purely focused on the robots (which can be a frustrating element with some other series—they ease you into the TFs' world through the eyes of human characters, which is frustrating when you just wanna get to the bots); and beyond all that, it's just an extremely good movie. the character arcs are gripping, and devastating. it's great for new fans and even better for long-time fans who recognize all the background characters. this is the kind of transformers movie TF fans have been wishing for for DECADES.

The only things I can say against it are that because it shows off much of the best of the series, it doesn't prepare you for the worst of the series (and how much time you have to watch humans in most other TF works lmao); and it's focused on a small cast of 2 main characters, 2 sidekicks, and 1 villain, when a majority of TF works are more of an ensemble cast.

But that said, start here if you can.

Transformers Animated (2007)

if you're asking me for advice, it's probably because you're following me because i write fanfic about 2000s/2010s kids' cartoons. If you like plot-heavy 2000s/2010s kids' cartoons with strongly-written characters, an ongoing plot, and good cartoony art, try Animated. it's not my personal fave but i'm in the minority there lol and it's a strong entry point into the series and lore.

It's an oddity in that the series starts post-war with the Autobots having won, the Decepticons in exile and plotting retaliation, and Optimus being a low-ranked officer rather than the leader. Transformers has its ~*formula*~ that it's attached to, but some of the more interesting series deviate from it.

Beast Wars (1996)

this one comes with several caveats: it's a cgi cartoon from the 90s so you've gotta be cool with some oooold-ass cgi; it's actually a sequel series (to the original 1984 cartoon); and it's about robots turning into animals instead of turning into vehicles. HOWEVER—to this day, Beast Wars still has THE best writing of any Transformers cartoon.

Being a sequel to the '84 cartoon, it also starts post-war with uneasy peace between the factions; the Maximals and Predacons are the descendants of the Autobots and the Decepticons, and the show focuses on a tiny crew of Predacons trying to restart the war and a tiny crew of Maximals trying to stop them.

Transformers Generation 1 (1984)

G1, the original series. it's still a fun watch, but like... it doesn't exactly have the depth and sophistication of a mid-2010s lore-heavy cartoon masterpiece, yknow? it's a cartoon from the 1980s—one of THE first cartoons produced in the wake of a change in laws that allowed toy companies to create shows based on their toys. if you've ever watched the 80s series of he-man, g.i. joe, scooby doo, tmnt, care bears, mlp, jem & the holograms—that's the kind of quality level you can expect, both in animation and in writing. so not bad—but there ain't any multi-episode plot arcs about coping with grief or whatever like more modern shows might do (or, heck... like even beast wars did). and occasionally you've gotta cringe your way past some racism that'd never fly in a modern series.

but, it's got one of the biggest casts of any transformers series, which offers a lot of fun you don't get out of "four good guys and five bad guys" TF series. It introduced a LOT of the basic concepts and worldbuilding ideas that most future series are in conversation with, whether that means adopting them without question (ex: sure, transformers only eat one food and it's almost all used up) or exploring & subverting them (ex: how can one faction be ALL good guys and the other faction be ALL bad guys?) A lot of the concepts from G1 have also been adopted & adapted directly into popular fanon ever since, even for works set in unrelated series, and they're so embedded in the fandom culture that a lot of people don't even know which series they're from.

If you're used to old cartoons, G1 is a good starting point. If you're not used to old cartoons, I'd start with a newer continuity—but G1 is one you wanna get around to eventually. If nothing else, watch the '86 movie once you have a little tf experience under your belt.

Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers (2010)(comic)

In the late 2000s, Transformers as a whole started to make a swing toward more complexity & nuance in how it depicted Autobots & Decepticons, and in my opinion that was spearheaded by TF Animated (depicting some corruption worming into the Autobot ranks) and the 2005 IDW comics line (which added in the idea that the Decepticons might have been founded for a sympathetic, just cause). This movement fully took the reins of the franchise in 2010, with the cartoon Transformers Prime and the comic Last Stand of the Wreckers, and it's been running the show ever since. For the most part I think it's been a positive move in TF's storytelling.

A warning: the comics have always had more leeway than the cartoons, and LSotW takes full advantage of that. It's gory, it's a grim war story, it's a horror story, and it's one hell of a downer ending. Do not—I cannot emphasize this enough—do NOT get attached to any of these characters. The don't all die... but that's the most I can promise.

But it's a great, very well-written downer ending. It's a self-contained 5-issue story, so it's a good sampler for what Transformers has been like from 2010 onward, albeit the extreme end of it—more moral complexity, more warfare that feels like warfare instead of like adventures, a bigger focus on the Cybertronians' impact on worlds beyond Cybertron and Earth.

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye (2012)(comic)

Possibly the best character-driven writing in any Transformers series, right up there with Beast Wars. ENTHUSIASTIC fanbase. This is an immediate post-war story: the war's over, everyone's disillusioned, so one charismatic Autobot rounds up a bunch of other Autobots to track down some mythical heroes that can repair their war-torn planet, shenanigans ensue. There's no other word for it. Top to bottom shenanigans. Shenanigans that will move you to tears.

The only reason I didn't list it higher is because of the art: for a few issues, it's hard to tell the characters apart. Even longtime transformers fans struggled for a bit because a lot of the characters in MTMTE were (until this comic) pretty obscure. There's a lot of white-and-orangy-red bots with little spiky bits on their helmets and a lot of their faces are pretty similar. And I don't want anyone to get discouraged and drop the series because of that lmao.

If I were asked to list the best Transformers series, MTMTE would be in the top 3. But since I was asked to list the best STARTER Transformers series, MTMTE's lower.

But, since it kicks off immediately post-war, it does give you a good jumping off point to ease into a brand new story rather than get plopped into an ongoing one. This is a great place to start as long as you know you'll be confused for a bit.

If you're willing to deal with a little confusion over who's talking, after a few issues you get used to the art style, you learn how to tell these bots apart based on their armor, you glance back at the first few issues and realize that now you can tell everyone apart, and as soon as you have things figured out you're grossly sobbing over a letter a dying bot left his husband.

Oh this is also the first series to canonize gay Transformers. 🏳️‍🌈 i promise most of them don't die

Transformers: Robots In Disguise (2012)(comics)

A companion story to MTMTE, about the bots who didn't leave Cybertron. This is one that's more rewarding if you know the characters, but—being post war—it is an okay jumping on point. If you're REALLY into byzantine politics and cloak & dagger shit, RID's a good comic. But if you want a more convetional TF experience, hold off on RID until you know who these characters are.

Transformers Prime (2010)

The darkest TF cartoon we got before they started making shows actually marketed at adults instead of kids. this is gritty "war is hell" transformers. everyone's exhausted, everyone has combat ptsd, megatron's doing drugs, the autobot medic is making drugs, they kill an autobot in the first episode (spoilers), an enormous monstrous threat that other continuities tend to save for movies or series finales is introduced in season 1.

its biggest flaw is that the ongoing plot isn't as tightly written as, say, Animated or Beast Wars—they have a tendency to drop some ideas they shouldn't have and rush other parts—and since it does have a heavy ongoing plot, it can't get away with being episodic the way G1 does.

Rescue Bots (2011)

listen. rescue bots is the cutest transformers series ever made. the only reason it's not listed higher is because, while every other tf series is about optimus prime and megatron and The War For Cybertron's Future, rescue bots is about four autobots living on an island in maine helping humans with firefighting and search & rescue operations and stuff. and it's aimed at 4-year-olds. it's not a very Transformers-esque Transformers series. they don't even have decepticons.

BUT. it's goddamn adorable, the characters are all extremely lovable, and at some point you really should watch it even if it's not necessarily a good introduction to "what transformers is like."

Transformers Armada (2002)

Are you a weeb? Have you considered studying Japanese to fuel your anime-watching habits? Did you ever have a phase where you tried to learn not just how to draw cartoons/comics, but specifically how to draw in manga style?

If these accusations are uncomfortably accurate, start with Armada. Same "the Bots and Cons have brought their war to earth" setup, but this one has the added gimmick that they're trying to find & collect tinier Transformers called Mini-Cons that give the bigger 'bots EXTRA POWERS.

It's extremely anime. Which makes it a great starting point if that's your thing, but a terrible one if it isn't. I was a weeb and Armada got me into Transformers.

Bumblebee (2018)(movie)

I do not recommend starting with the live action movies. but if you really really really want to start with the live action movies, I DO NOT RECOMMEND STARTING WITH THE MICHAEL BAY MOVIES.

Bumblebee is not a Michael Bay movie. It's the first movie produced after they finally let somebody other than Bay direct, and so it's the first live action TF movie that's actually good. It's like E.T. if E.T. was a yellow car and violent.

But I don't consider it a good entry point because there's, like,, only three transformers and two of them were made up just for this film. at its heart it's more a hollywood action movie than a transformers movie. Still a good watch though.

Transformers Cyberverse (2018)

I'm softly recommending this one at the bottom of the list, because the first season was promising, but then I got hooked into another fandom so I didn't finish it. Other folks have praised it though.

AND THOSE ARE ALL MY RECOMMENDATIONS. HERE'S WHAT I RECOMMEND AGAINST:

the Michael Bay directed films, a.k.a. the "bayverse movies." unless 99% of your media consumption is high-budget explosion-stuffed action/war/superhero movies and you're happy with some absolute shit as long as there's enough shooting. otherwise, do NOT watch a live action movie made before Bumblebee. you can watch bayverse later once you've got some transformers experience—but as a starting point, it's most likely to turn you off. (some fans join the fandom based on the bayverse movies, but I wouldn't risk it.)

Beast Wars aside, any series that's a sequel to another series. Beast Machines is a sequel to Beast Wars, don't start there. TF Energon (2004) and TF Cybertron (2005) are sequels to Armada, don't start there. TF Robots In Disguise (2015) is a sequel to Prime, don't start there.

most of the Japanese series outside Armada, primarily because a lot of them are increasingly-obscure offshoots of Generation 1 that take the plot in wild directions that aren't later embraced by the main English continuities.

video games or book adaptations. books & games just don't receive the core Transformers experience, they're more periphery materials.

SERIES I'M INDIFFERENT TO:

I'm not familiar enough with these to speak on them: the Marvel comics, the 2019 IDW comics continuity (different from the 2005 IDW continuity that includes LSotW and MTMTE), the Prime Wars trilogy, Earthspark, 2001 Robots In Disguise

the Dreamwave comics, the BotBots cartoon, and the War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron games are alright. like they're okay, i like them, but i wouldn't start there.

AND A VERY IMPORTANT WARNING:

Transformers loves to reuse names. For characters, and for series. There's a reason I put dates on all of the above recommendations. More Than Meets The Eye is the name of an IDW comic, a Dreamwave comic companion book, an Armada book, an Animated book, the pilot episodes of G1, an episode of TF Robots in Disguise (2015), an episode of Rescue Bots, an episode of Rescue Bots Academy, and events in two different mobile gacha games. Robots In Disguise is the name of a 2001 cartoon, a 2015 cartoon, and another IDW comic. "TFA" used to mean Transformers Armada until it became Transformers Animated. There's 44 guys name Megatron, a Megatronus, and a Megatronia. Eventually you get a sense for which series people are talking about, but until then, tread cautiously.

The Transformers wiki is one of the best organized fandom wikis in the world. It's an invaluable resource to help keep all this stuff straight. Use it often.

Having digested the Bell's Hells finale I think I want to make some observations that, FULL DISCLOSURE, will veer into gentle criticism, but that's fine because we're all incredibly normal and mature and we'll just be cool about it.

I know that these last few episodes had to close out not just campaign 3 but presumably also this version of the show. I know the cast likes to revisit their old, iconic characters and that the constant references and connections to previous campaigns are really fun for them. But, fun as it was, I feel it came at the expense of crowding Bells Hells out of their own campaign.

I believe we have reached MCU Phase 4 (?) levels of callbacks and references to previous campaigns, which, in my opinion, M9 handled with much more restraint. Easier for the cast to do back then, you might say, with only one previous campaign and no supplemental series like EXU to weave in, but I would respond by reminding you that no one made them ratchet up the shared universe storytelling. To continue with the Marvel analogy, sometimes a Spider-Man story has pretty high stakes that might justify the X-Men or FF or Avengers showing up to help. If they're going to, fine, but you have to keep the focus on Spider-Man or you've failed to tell a Spider-Man story and you shouldn't have involved so many other heroes if they're just going to take away opportunities for his character development.

Also, with so many EXU installments and the main series only running 3 weeks a month, I thought campaign 3 really dragged compared to the others. Maybe that's because it was a lot less...vignette-y, I guess, than VM or M9? I'm guesstimating here but it felt like Bells Hells had identified the bad guys (and more or less what their plan was) about one-third into the campaign and the other two-thirds was pretty much exclusively about stopping it. Just not my preference for the pacing of a multi-year campaign.

As far as revisiting VM and M9 to give them updated endings, I found this...emotionally satisfying in the moment, let's say, but kind of narratively weak and cloyingly sentimental when considered after the fact. It reminds me (I am old) of the finale of Lost, which ends on an uplifting and feelgood scene. This emotional satisfaction lingers for a moment and then you (if you are me) realize that you will have to make your peace with the fact that the show has been promising answers to its many mysteries and will not be delivering on any of them. It's not a waste of time because you have enjoyed yourself, but you wish the show had delivered more relative to what it had promised. That's how I feel about Bells Hells.

Now I do want to note that if I had played Bells Hells as a home campaign I would have loved it! Would never have shut up about it. Would have been completely on board with the meta-references and the constant in-character arguing and planning and ethical debates that kept going in circles. Would have appreciated the players all taking big swings with their characters even if some of them weren't as successful as others. Would definitely have supported a final session that wrapped everything up a little too neatly, because it might have been the last time our crew could play after years together and the real world had gotten so unpleasant that maybe the fantasy world could lighten up just a bit. And while it's unfair to hold Critical Role to the same standards as a scripted show when it's not, we have to acknowledge that it's also not just some friends playing DnD at home with only themselves to satisfy.

Still love the program, still love the chemistry of the cast, still can't wait to see what they do next with this last EXU and then Daggerheart. The worst day fishin' is better than the best day workin' after all, but I hope some bigger fish will be biting next time.

THE MCMANSION HELL: sister dream to the waterpark. a huge labyrinthine house with mismatched, fully furnished and well-lit rooms and doors that lead to illogical places. there's always a creepy cellar with creepy rusty doors that lead further down below the cellar, and what's below the cellar is always a second, equally weird, perfectly daylit mcmansion. there's usually other people around in this one, so it's less distressing than the waterpark

trash tuesday thursday

thank you @garagepaperback for tagging me and no thank you for calling that masterpiece of emotion you dropped "trash." this is from an 8th year-ish drarry fic I have medium abandoned where the students don't stay at Hogwarts and have to do internships instead of just attending classes. And would you believe it harry and draco end up at the same internship! they're also living together for pining and sexual tension reasons. the below snippet references drinking, drug use, and harry sleeping with another person. i haven't written an ending for this fic but theoretically it's a happy one <3

Harry woke up sweating, his mouth stuffed with cotton, his throat sore, his eyes burning.

Celine was there, in his bed, her hair fanned out around her head like a halo. There were two parallel indents from Harry’s sheets cutting across her cheeks, and somehow the presence of imperfections on her beautiful face only made her seem more like something out of a museum. Beautiful. Pristine. Not to be touched.

Harry, on the other hand, felt like a sack of shit left to spoil in the sun, and he didn’t smell much better. He needed to shower. He needed food. He needed water.

It would be useless to try to cast Agumanenti in his current state. Whatever water he could conjure right now would probably taste as foul as Harry’s breath currently did.

He debated going into his own bathroom, but ditched the idea because he was terrified of speaking to Celine if she woke up. Guiltily, he moved the duvet off of himself, and awkwardly rolled off the bed, placing his feet down as quietly as he could on the cool floor. He’d never been so grateful for Grimmauld’s incurable draughts.

In his boxers, he crept down the stairs, trying to piece together the rest of his night. They’d Apparated back to his bedroom. He was lucky they hadn’t splinched their arms and legs all across London.

At least they’d had the sense not to rely on magic for protection and contraceptive charms. Harry’s brain felt pinched with the effort of trying to remember it. He was almost positive they’d done the charms. Like, ninety-eight percent sure. Ninety-five, at worst.

Harry liked Celine well enough, and God knows she was attractive. Objectively speaking, that is. Harry actually hadn’t felt all that attracted to her before last night, when the lights started spinning off Draco's hair and the drugs they had taken hit his bloodstream like bombs going off in his veins.

In the greasy light of a hungover dawn, this all was looking like a pretty horrible decision. They still had weeks left of the internship, and things between them at work were bound to be awkward now. Would she want a relationship? She hadn’t seemed that keen on Harry, either, in their prior (sober) interactions at work.

He wished he’d had the sense to grab his glasses before sneaking out of the room. Vision blurry, he rounded the corner, and drew up short when he registered that someone was already in the kitchen.

“Did you have a good night?” Draco asked waspishly. Despite the fact that he’d been matching Harry's pace the night before, not a hair on his head was out of place. He was wearing that fucking dressing gown, and a mug of tea was steaming on the butcher’s block like something from a domestic still life. His composure made Harry’s hangover feel immediately worse.

“Er, yeah,” Harry answered, wishing Draco would move away from the sink. He wanted to put his entire head under it.

“I looked for you, after I came back from the loo.”

“Oh,” Harry said stupidly. “Well, actually, I ended up—”

“I know exactly where you ended up, Potter,” Draco snapped. “The walls in this cursed house are as thin as paper.”

Harry felt his face flush. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to, like, piss you off…”

“Why on earth would I care what you do. Or who you do it with.” Draco didn’t even ask it like a question. His tone was flat enough to balance a marble on.

“I never said you would,” Harry bit back, irritated. “Can you please let me get a glass of fucking water, and then we can continue whatever this is when I’m not about to actually die from thirst?”

“What, you’re so hanging you can’t even cast?” Draco said meanly. "Impressive command of magic as always, Potter."

“What’s crawled up your arse today, Malfoy?”

“That,” Draco hissed, “isn’t any of your business, now is it?”

QSMP

I'm so upset that none of my friends are into the qsmp. Like, what do you mean you don't care about gay minecraft roleplay???? How could you not be completely invested in a 36 year old man's fake platonic husband and their two egg children in a minecraft server??

The worst part is they won't even let me mention them. I can't make any damn references to anyone without getting confused glares. Like, sorry you refuse to watch every vod from every creator on the server and don't understand the lore.

It's so cool because of the amount of people on the server, like there are SO many perspectives to see things from and so many different story lines to get invested in. Personally, my favorite storyline was Ph1lzA and the Enderking thing. I've always loved the concept of a character being corrupted or possessed and forcing them to hurt their loved ones(don't question me). Tallulah and Chayanne's admins did SO good. So did Phil, he sounded like a whole different person. And Phil was the best person to do this to. He's practically everyone's dad on the server, so seeing such a caring and fun guy to get aggressive and threaten his own children was scary and a great arc for him to experience.

I also absolutely LOVE the ships. Like you can't TELL me that you don't absolutely love Roier and Cellbit's relationship. Pac and Fit? OH MY GOOOOOD. I love the fanart and fanfics of them 😭 (I ship the characters in the actual server, not the content creators). I love Deathduo. Missa x Ph1lzA forever. They make such a good duo with how they interact around each other and the eggs. Roier and Cellbit have such a cute dynamic, I loved that one time Cellbit was running away and trying to blow himself up, and Roier went, "No, you can't kill yourself! You're too sexy!" They are so silly together, and I just think they're so cute.

Also the fandom is absolutely beautiful. I love all the fanart and memes, the fanfics and animatics. OH MY GODS. I really wish I had the confidence to make fanart or fanfics, I'm too nervous that I'll get info wrong or have a bad headcannon lol. I adore looking at the way people draw the eggs. My favorite designs are when they're bipedal dragons or like they're half hatched and their legs are sticking out of the shell 😭 its so cute!!! I still don't mind when they're just drawn like kids but with dragon features.

I loved Tallulah and her story, including Wilbur. I don't like Wilbur for what he did (even if it might be fake I genuinely don't know anymore) but I like him as a character in the qsmp. I love all the clips of Wilbur and Tallulah. Like when Lullah brought a gorilla into the garden and she was just so happy but Wilbur was absolutely terrified was so funny. The way he basically gentle parented her was adorable, like he didn't know how to raise a kid and just wanted her to be happy. (Wilbur is a horrible person, if the allegations are true, and I don't support him. I just like his character in the story but still understand why some people wouldn't like his character)

The humor is probably the best part. There are so many quotable things. One thing that I specifically remember was when Phil went to wake up one of the eggs (when they were all in hospital beds or smt IDK-) with Pac and someone else, Phil got downed by a warden and Pac went up to him and said, "Philza. I am here." in an overly manly voice, or something like that. Also I love just randomly saying quotes and pretending like everyone understands and thinks I'm cool. "we are all going to die. the sun is a false god but a true threat." -Gegg "IN THIS WORLD THERE ARE 2 GENDERS, PAIN AND SUFFERING" -Dapper "Geez abuelito I didn't know you were into drama omg slay" -Tallulah "heaven is homophobic motherfucker son of a bitch" -Roier

Hello!!! Long post because I love saying too much about everything 😋

Dearest Elijah would be every musician I have ever loved. But I will settle on Jan Akkerman – self-taught; or mostly self-taught, thriving against all odds. You are brave. A hidden gem. Sometimes you make me dig to find out more about you, and this is part of your enchantment. Very sweet, very honest, very thoughtful. You always surprise me. You're a force of nature.

Liz is Jon Anderson, not only for her profile picture but also because she is passionate about music, is a fantastic singer and introduced me to prog in the warmest, kindest way. You remind me of summer sunrises and the fog lifting itself from the hills before I leave for work and the warm afternoons that welcome me home after a long day.

Agus and Eli (an entity to me) are many things. I am inclined to say Hirasawa because they would still be an unbeatable, inseparable duo in every possible universe, even the apocalyptic ones. But Agus *is* shaped after Robert Fripp; or my vision of Robert Fripp is shaped after Agus. This is more craftsmanship than natural to me. They are the best friends I could ever wish for!

Trisha would, without a doubt, be Chris Squire – ADHD, always involved in some huge project that requires so much effort but acts so nonchalantly about it 😭. A natural leader. People flock to you and you are either incredibly loved or strongly disliked. I am part of that first group.

Al is Neil Peart. AuDHD. Maybe not DHD but definitely Au. Impecable fashion taste. Master of music theory. Humble. Hard to get to know but your company is so rewarding… thank you for every minute you have shared with me.

Mav is a powerhouse. My worst enemy. If I were able to name *anyone* and say it's prog, I would pick Walter Becker from Steely Dan. You are an excellent guitarist (although humble), your sense of style is (also) immaculate, you know so much about gear and math it's crazy to me, and you know when to push someone out of their comfort zones so that they can become better people. Thank you!

Emily/Drew is a bit like David Cross to me. Everything they touch is gold. Everything they make appears as if out of a dream. You have this hidden wisdom within and I feel anguish too. May you be free from it someday. One thing I know is that your talent will always be recognized as long as I'm around 🙏 and I think others would agree.

I think Chris/Kieran would be Keith, actually. He's probably one of the most active people I know (against his will?) with varied interests. He's really well-spoken but I need some time to fully understand the things he tells me. Exquisite person. Thank you for your company!

So, you probably know most things about him before you even start dating, and then he tells you the more embarrassing things later down the line as you get more serious about each other.

Q - Quizzes (how much would they remember about you?): Listen, he's not good with the little things like favorite colors or what your favorite song is. But if you tell him what your favorite flower is, your favorite restaurant? He never forgets it. It goes in the long-term Deuce memory bank, forever categorized as incredibly important, but he has no idea why until he needs the information.

X - Xtra: Deuce is, surprisingly, very good with hair. He used to have to help his mom style hers, so he knows a ton of really cool tricks for styling it. Female, male, non-binary -- doesn't matter, he knows how to style your hair and it's going to feel like a GODSEND to your scalp.

Lilia

L - Little Ones: Lilia's favorite hobby is being a father of three, so it's safe to assume he loves kids. Just everything about them is so darn cute -- their stubby little arms and disproportionate bodies. Oh! He can't get enough. If he could raise a hundred more kids, he absolutely would love to!

O - Open: Lilia, unlike Deuce, is not open at all! He puts on this bright and cheery face so he can hide from his dark and fucked up past. You are the light of his life, his guiding start in the night sky -- he doesn't want you to know how much of a monster he is. It's not until you are WELL SETTLED in your relationship that he tells you about his painful past, the things he's done, and how badly he wishes he could take it all back.

Q - Quizzes: Oh, Lilia knows everything. His memory just seems endless, and no matter if you told him something today or years ago, he would remember it clear as day. Every little detail from the very basics to the intricate ways you go about doing different things, he knows and adores all of them.

X - Xtra: Lilia is very good at gambling -- just hear me out. He's incredibly observant and reads people better than they do themselves. Not only that, he's smart. He can sit down at any gambling game, any kind, even if he's a beginner, and walk away with as much money as he wants. He is a casinos worst nightmare.

Malleus

L - Little Ones: Children make Malleus... nervous. They're very little, and they seem very unaware of things around them, yet they have the confidence and demand of a well-established ruler. It's discomforting. Still, he did help raise (technically) two younger boys, so he does harbor some affection for children, he just has to get used to them for him to really enjoy them.

O - Open: It's not to say that Malleus is NOT open, it's just that he doesn't think to share things about himself. So he seems closed off, but really he's just thinking about gargoyles. He does this... thing, though, where he just... lore drops on you. Out of nowhere, he just "My mother died before I was born, and the love that Lilia gave me was enough to cause me to hatch, therefore, he is the closest thing to a father figure I will ever have." Kay... cool Malleus.

Q - Quizzes: He is so bad at keeping track of time, he will not remember 90% of the things about you. He will, however, remember the most random things. Like he doesn't remember what year you were born, but he knows your favorite character and all their lore. It's because he only cares about the things you care about a lot. If you talk about something frequently, he's going to go out of his way to learn more about it because it matters to you <3

X - Xtra: Malleus has an EXTENSIVE collection of Magic The Gathering Cards (or the test equivalent). He doesn't play the game, he has no idea how it works, but he really likes the collecting part of the whole thing. The art on the cards is pretty, and that was enough to fuel a whole collection.

do you have any headcanons on how vertin's emotions manifest?

like how she experiences certain things and how that looks on the outside to the people around her

i've been thinking about angry vertin lately and how she'd react if something REALLY upset her

to me she strikes me as someone who would not yell or exhibit her anger very clearly (unless the receiving party is someone she hates, say, arcana, like how she snapped at her in chapter 5), but she doesn't repress it too much around those she cares about, just sorta indirectly saying "i do not wish to talk right now" in a slightly snappy way

The Trails (in Atlas) throughout Reverse 1999 paint a picture of an emotional person who has perfected hiding her feelings. With that said, I do HC Vertin as someone who perceives her own emotions differently from others.

For example, while many of us get "caught up in the moment", Vertin is the type to always take a step back and think "Is this worth getting angry about?"

As the only known person (so far) with guaranteed Storm Immunity, this changes the way she sees things. In her mind, she can lose her allies and friends at any time. It's why she is is generous as well as flexible with their demands. She tried to get Regulus A SHIP and her dialogue/Wilderness interactions show she'd rather go with the flow than argue. Oliver Fog even says she has a "conciliatory" nature.

Vertin is a big picture thinker. Regardless of her current anger, she loves her friends. Anger is temporary but relationships are long lasting if nurtured. Therefore acting on her anger isn't worth it because it's unproductive and she could hurt them. Instead, she focuses on working things out.

Going off of that, She considers hurtful words and shouting go against what she she wants to be: a safe haven for her friends. Her anger manifests more as disappointment or as regret for having to go through these painful feelings with whoever she is arguing with. I think in the worst case scenario, she'll excuse herself before she reaches her boiling point because she doesn't want to snap.

However, if you turn your back to storm off in a huff, she'll call after you and this is where the masks slips. It's not anger you'll hear, it's fear. Fear that you'll leave before you two can fix what's broken between you. She won't chase you because she'll assume you need time to cool off but she'll be on edge until you return.

Sometimes, people mistake this as her not taking them seriously because she doesn't get "passionate" (super angry) about things, but she's seeing things from a different point of view. With that said, she is stern when she has to be and won't back down from doing what she deems as the appropriate course of action. She will always hear others voices on the matter though (and her friends seem to trust so that makes things easier).

On the other hand, if Vertin does something she's quick to try and make amends.

And if we really think about, hasn't Vertin always asked people how they feel, how they're doing, and so on? By being proactive, she can eliminate a lot of tension before it blooms into conflict by addressing it. On the receiving end, Vertin would feel very hurt if she couldn't make things up to you.

1. She failed to make things right.

2. She is causing pain (negative emotions in general) in someone.

3. She isn't sure what to do and might back off (or shut down) completely out of fear of making things worse. It's the lesser of two evils to let you go as a happier person than to stick around you and make you angrier. If it gets to that point, good luck trying to approach her. She'll be one step ahead of you, always gone before you can speak to her. Stealth is one of her specialties and it'll be like trying to catch a cat who wants to be as far from you as possible.

So what about pure, raw, rage? It's interesting you bring up Arcana! When they first put on the friendship-bracelets (?), it was Vertin who triggered them with her anger/killing intent.

Arcana only triggered the bracelet when she sent her followers to attack Vertin's crew.

Arcana's attitude toward Vertin is not a front, but a genuine fascination. She doesn't "hate" Vertin while Vertin is ready to pull a Green Oranges on her. Sure Vertin raised her voice and whatever at Arcana, but that's the type of things we expect from a normal argument.

Vertin was ready to kill this woman. If Vertin starts displaying "normal" signs of anger, that is not normal.

She's that meme that goes "looks like a cinnamon roll but can kill you".

• John also watches Abigail sew new clothes or mend old ones. I don’t mean this in a weird way but he likes watching her sew without her knowing. in like a sweet way. she looks peaceful to him

• I’m not sure how to explain this but the Marston family (or mostly Jack) is a few The Smiths songs to me

• speaking of The Smiths modern Jack would listen to them

• after Abigail died, Jack wished he had read to her more in his tween/teen years

• even as Jack gets older, he still laughs sometimes at the stories Uncle tells

• Jack also kept all of Abigail’s dresses that she had after she died. he didn’t really know what he was gonna do with them but he couldn’t stand getting rid of them. he did the same with John’s clothes but he kept them so he could wear them

• John bought Mary-Beth's books for Abigail since they were mostly romance and he would read them to her. after John died Jack would read the books to her on her and John's anniversary along with taking her to the movies. or he'd read them to her if she asked

• in modern I know deep in my bones John had some weirdass senior quote

• in modern the Marston daughter was afraid of the dark and had a horrible habit of going into John and Abigail's room and accidentally scaring them

• modern Jack wants to have a bunch of little nick-nacks and cool stuff in his room but everything he finds he feels like it doesn't fit the "vibe" he wants

• John does recognize Jack's empathy towards the animals on the ranch. not that he knows what to do or say about it. tried sugarcoating some sickness among the animals to Jack once but eventually had to tell him what was actually happening and Jack was very sad about it

• John would give Jack "relationship advice" (as if he fucking knows anything) when they'd go into Blackwater to sell the ranches goods

• every year for John and Abigail's anniversary he'd take her into Blackwater and take her to see a movie

• Abigail always notices when John wears a gift she got for him no matter how long ago its from

• when Abigail's sick John tries to keep the house nice and tries to cook for her even though they're both fairly bad cooks

• Jack absentmindedly tells Uncle about the book he's reading when they sit on the porch together and Uncle comes up with some story he witnessed similar to the book

• John also takes Jack to see a movie for his birthday. the first time he did Jack does that thing where he gets excited and cant really talk straight and John was proud of himself

Pt.1 When Flowers Meets The Rain

Raindrops poured down the pavement, creating little freckles along the rough textured concrete. Dark clouds continued to gather, drenching the city and creating a earthy mist aroma in the air. Watering the thirsty grazing grass and trees below, rustling with the cooling winds that'd occasionally blow.

It was the perfect weather to just stay inside and lay in that cozy, plush, and oh so warm to snuggle into that is the best to take multiple naps in during work hours.

Presently the weekend, with luck on Shota's side for once it was specifically an off day. That meaning the drained man could lounge all he wants without a peep from his problem children who'd go off on each other with bickering or getting along. God those two always gave him the worst headaches. Aside on making remarkable progress compared to the first year he had them throw a ball.

They're so getting punished when he gets back to teaching.

Pondering mindlessly in his thoughts, soon to be interrupted by a low rumble below his chest that demanded substance. Oh that's right, he hasn't eaten quite yet. Having a bad habit on skipping meals and living on nothing but celery or salted crackers as a snack. Standing upon both two feet off his office chair, merely fumbling in each step due to lack in a proper sleep schedule and diet.

Exiting the UA building, making way towards the route he frequently takes through the sidewalks. Ordering himself the usual once making his destination. Feeling each drop fall and patter around him, dampening his already unkempt hair. Not paying mind to where he's going on the way back, that followed with a collide to another but smaller form.

Shota instinctively paused in his tracks, looking around before his bored tired black eyes drifted downward. That's when his dark line a sight met with yours. It felt as if time had stopped.

His hands remained stuffed into his pockets, lacking the facial expression. Even so the one thing that came to mind was that you smelt nice, like a freshly batch bouquet or what it feels like to awaken on a peaceful calming morning.

"Ahh sorry- I'm so sorry!!" You uttered an apology, bowing lowly to the ground. Feeling more than embarrassed to have stumbled into the taller, quite handsome– Wait what were you thinking?!! You just met the man, you've never seen him before. He looked so worn out, unknown on the media. Coming across the underground hero, Eraserhead.

All hell broke loose the mere second he had opened his mouth.

"It's fine.." The dryly spoke, a hand behind his nape as if timid. His voice alone sent a light shiver to travel through your spine. You could have sworn you saw a sparkling mirth and gleaming interest in his eyes just now. "And you are..?" Shota's words trailed off, raising an eyebrow. Expecting you to answer his question.

It wasn't like the normally aloof man to wanna get to know a person the moment he meets them, especially when it comes to that lovey dovey shit. Even so, he couldn't help but feel..

Drawn to you. ּ ֶָ֢.

"I'm l/n.." You introduced, a gentle bright smile making it's way across your facial features. Feeling his heart swell with warmth that Shota has never dealt until recently, but he shoved those thoughts aside. He had better things to do then fawn over some adorable face.

"Ah- Here," You manage to say, stopping yourself from staring for a extended period. "You're all soaked." You offered sweetly, tilting your umbrella towards the male. Which was found to be difficult when he was taller in height, the corner of his lips nearly twitched watching you struggle. "You need help?" Shota mused, his eyes never leaving yours.

"Uhh...." Your eyebrows knitted together, rising onto your tip toes in order to properly hover the umbrella above his head. Eyes shone with a sudden determination, only to fail. "Okay yes..." You sulk, making sure to drag your syllables in coax exaggeration. Earning you a throaty chuckle the minute you accepted defeat.

"Soo... what do I suppose I call you?" You asked curiously, finding yourself to be walking alongside him while he held the umbrella.

"Aizawa," He began with a breath, "Call me Aizawa."

Long forgetting just why he's outside away from his desk. Finding for the first time something far more interesting than paperwork or going to get a quick strong black coffee.

It wasn't till a few months later in the evening when he came to a realization. Shota found himself smiling without reason, fuck.. He was so screwed. And it was all your fault.
