Or cry if it helps. But don't only cry. There are joyful and glorious mysteries as well as sorrowful ones. This is how you who have loved can love again; because it really is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, and if you're not sure, I'm sorry but that wasn't True Love.
hey don't cry.... the world is charged with the grandeur of God, okay?
#love is still incredibly valuable!#but True Love doesn't care about the form of the beloved#only about the one who loves being worthy to be loved in return#God thinks you all are#i am not quite sold on that idea but i think the overwhelming majority of you will get there eventually#and it's okay if it takes a few lifetimes#God wouldn't build you a prison but you seem to have added some locks and bars that were not in the blueprints#if they make you feel safer that's fine but maybe give me a copy of the keys?#you don't have to#it's your house#but i probably won't visit as much without them#we'll still love you#but you'll have to visit us instead#i get that it's tempting to move back home and there will always be a place for you there but please stop kidnapping your siblings#they're not road trips they're war crimes#if you won't listen to your Father and you won't listen to each other...#Mother is going to yell at you and then show you how to tidy this mess up

Au #13 (Nemesis threat)
this has been talke abt, maybe, but I'm tbh constantly thinking about it, so
-No TOA au, Leo returns earlier
-Hunter Calypso au, also, but as part of the curse
-bc, in case y'all forgot, Leo's cursed to never find his place amongst his peers?
-most importantly, no camp stay au, which means Nico doesn't stick around bc the whole thing always felt too rushed to me (I can and will expand on this)
-anyways, Leo returns a few days after the war, instead of months, maybe a week tops
-Nico stays for a short time, while he heals, but he's starting to remember why he left in the first place (ppl are to eager to brush this aside)
-since Leo returns earlier, ppl aren't as mad with him, but the whole hero shtick doesn't last long at all
-he starts hiding in the bunker, and is joined by Nico when he sees it happen on of the times.
-they have very oposing views on the other's experience at camp, and argue abt it a lot at first
-eventually, through spending time together to prove the other wrong, they realize they're both right
-Leo eventually makes a run for it, but so does Nico, and there was a moment where they were both staring at the other with their respective rucksacks, it was kind of funny
-and Leo was like "u know what, this might as well happen", and just kept doing his thing, and Nico snapped out of it and like followed him
-and they get in a whole argument about that, and eventually Leo tells him about Nemesis
-and then Nico invites him to go together, cause he like, recognizes where Leo's going through
-and Leo was like, wary abt it, bc Nico's his peer, technically, and he was already left behind once, you know? but he realizes Nico's not gonna give it up right now
-so off they went, and at first it was abt getting as far as possible, and surviving, you know?
-but then it devolved into a really weird sort of road-trip au? but with less roads, and all over the world, and with ocassional monster encounters
-and like, it was a whole thing of it that the others didn't go after them, because of other stuff that was going on, or something
-and even if they did, neither was gonna go back bc of how both were treated, so it would've been a whole confrontation thing
-anyways, valdangelo cross-country adventures
-meanwhile Leo's waiting for the other shoe to drop, while falling hopelessly in love, bc like, Nico's his exact type, and also, now, his partner in crime
-and you know Nico's falling too, like, now that he actually spends time with Leo, and is learning what he's really like, it just sort of happens
-Leo totally steals them a bike and gets them smuggled into ships to cross seas and stuff
-Nico totally makes friends with locals without really meaning to, bc that's canon that he just does that? and maybe he has some leftover acquaintances from when he was using the labyrinth?
-they totally become part of a motorbike gang for a bit, and their smell keeps monsters away
-and they don't find a place in the world, but they do

Jess Watches // Sat 22 June // Day 268 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
The Fundamentals of Caring (2016)
A writer-turned-caregiver and an ornery teen with muscular dystrophy bond after they set off on a road trip in search of offbeat landmarks and adventure.
Disabled people can be arseholes too! The fake symptoms were a bit too far for me because obviously I'm not an arsehole. And since you want an arsehole, my not being an arsehole makes me more of an arsehole than the arseholes that you normally date, because they're giving you exactly what you want, whereas I, by not being an arsehole, am not. Which makes me an arsehole.
Mr & Mrs Smith (with L) 1x05 Do You Want Kids?
John and Jane spend summer in Lake Como. Driving cars, dodging criminals and chasing slippery Toby, whose crimes endanger them. Caring for this "baby man" makes them ponder parenthood.
Did they have any form of field training? Because apart from Jane being a good shot, they both seem pretty incompetent spies lol. It's highly suspicious that "hihi" is more in contact with Jane too. Is he secretly more advanced so doesn't need the extra communication?
The Legend of Korra (rw with L) 2x04 Civil Wars: Part 2
When Korra's parents are wrongfully arrested, Korra fights for their freedom.
Meet my children: Blueberry Spicehead, Princess Rainbow, Twinkle Starchild, and Juniper Lightning Bug.

Plot, in run on sentence braindump form:
some lab has got a super enhanced, super expensive human test subject and they're all set up to show a demonstration to the board the next day or something. Robot person hybrid is fully knocked out in a fancy high tech looking crate. everything is calm that night except whoops! crime is afoot, and a contracted thief breaks into the lab to yoink the fancy science crate bc the military also wants the robot hybrid person for science and also war crimes. heist goes horribly wrong, thief is nearly caught and pissed off and now has both entities after him because he's still got the robot person, who is deeply unimpressed with the thief and just glowers at him 24/7 bc the thief obvi can't just drop the robot person off at a bus station, or the evil ppl would just yoink robot person back, so robot person is effectively his hostage whoops again. enemies to lovers on the run, forced proximity, unwilling road trip.
(first chapter written and currently being edited, should be posted sometime this weekend <3)

THE KINGMAKER HISTORIES is a fantasy adventure audio drama following a young woman and a pair of international smugglers who are brought together when they're all swept up into a magical power struggle for the future of their post-revolutionary home country.
Set in a fictional European republic in the years leading up to World War One, The Kingmaker Histories follows an assistant tailor named Colette who becomes the unwitting host for a deadly alien energy source- the titular Kingmaker Diamond. Hunted by a host of enemies who wish to use her new powers for their own gain (including a machiavelian blood witch, a mobster and his bratty psychic nephew, and a telekinetic military commander) , Colette's only hope is to join up with a pair of career criminals and embark on a bizarre road trip, smuggling and thieving across Belle Epoque Europe as she seeks to get rid of her lethal new head-mate.
A comedic adventure that is half fantasy and half crime caper, the Kingmaker Histories is a show about living through interesting times without losing your head.
The show was created by the team behind Less is Morgue, and the cast features, among others, David Ault (Re: Dracula), Josh Rubino (Forgive Me!), Addison Peacock (Someone Just Like You), Graham Rowat (The Nosleep Podcast), Bradley Gareth (Lackadaisy), and Zane Schact (Two Flat Earthers Kidnap a Freemason) with special appearances by Jonny Sims (The Magnus Archives), Newton Schottlekotte (Where the Stars Fell), Lou Sutcliffe (Eeler's Choice) and Zuwie LeFou (Another Crab's Treasure)
Listen to it here!

How's Australia's public transit? I've noticed, and as logic would dictate, places that have good public transit systems have less people that know how to drive and even then they learn much later in life.
You probably don't know this, but the reason the drinking age is 21 in the US is because of "Moms Against Drunk Driving" did a lot of lobbying and legislators essentially added a fee for roads (which are federal) if a state didn't comply with the 21 drinking age because that's technically something a state sets.
When I learned that in political science I was curious why this wasn't an issue in other countries that set the drinking age the same as legal adult age and I realized while watching some British person talk about not knowing how to drive that that was common there. Places with good public transit are just less likely to use cars the way we do for every trip and as such a lot less likely to be drunk driving, that's just pure math. Maybe they care a bit more about other people but given Europe's history I doubt that. Almost every terrible mentality in the US can be traced back to Europe and I have a feeling the same rings true for Australia. (That's not to blame Europe for the US's crimes, they just started it we perfected it to the terrible heights it is now).
All this is to say that if Australia has as good of public transportation as Europe or better you won't have to worry about the gasoline hoarding. As absolutely ridiculous as it is that they're doing this, I understand the fear due to how heavily dependent we are on gas to get anywhere need let alone anywhere we want.
And oil companies are keeping us this desperate with money and the sad thing is switching to electric won't even help do anything but turn South America to the new Middle East where we wage wars just for their lithium which we're technically already doing just hasn't reached "Iraq War" levels yet. Essentially what Europe did to Africa in early imperialism, like I said they started it, we perfected it.
Any way rant over, this was meant to make you feel better that Australia wouldn't reach the US's heights of hysteria with logic and reason which unfortunately involves info dumping on my part which was even paraphrased with some inaccuracies because I don't know everything.
Our public transportation is... kind of a love-hate relationship. Honestly I don’t really pay much attention except when there’s something monumentally stupid happening (for instance, I live in Newcastle. When you go “into town” it’s not small but it’s not that big either. Our premier Gladys - I think that’s the equivalent of governor over in the US? like, the person in charge of the state? - decided to spent $X million dollars and about 2-3 years on this fucking lightrail that barely goes anywhere. Basically Gladys is under the impression that Newcastle is as big as Sydney... it isn’t. But now the street is basically fucked, there’s not enough room for cars or buses to go down as much as before, and because the street was closed off for a long period of time, heaps of small businesses had to close down because they weren’t getting as many customers cos of parking and stuff like that. Then when the lightrail FINALLY happened... like I said, it hardly goes anywhere... our Libs really are the experts at “fuck what the public thinks - MONEY MONEY MONEY!1!”). But I mean, I don’t drive and I don’t want to burden my 81-year-old grandad who still does drive, so I catch buses are much as I can.
Anyway, back to the actual point. I think that because last year there was plenty of kindred panic-buying stupidity seen across the globe, I saw the gasoline post and thought “oh god, is this going to be this year’s toilet paper fiasco?!” because there are plenty of Aussies who would be that ridiculous. Actually... I don’t know if we’d hoard fuel... hmm... I’m curious about what we would do, but I don’t want to put anything out into the universe. We’ve done enough stupid shit, we don’t need any more ideas.

Bucha mourns at mass graves in wreck of Russian retreat
There are bodies in mass graves yet to be claimed, bodies in the street waiting to be collected, bodies everywhere in the ruined Kyiv suburb left by Russian forces which retreated earlier this week.
Liuba, 62, leads her neighbour to the lip of a trench in the sodden clay behind a gold-domed church. But he cannot bring himself to peer inside the grave and search for his missing brother rumoured to lie inside.
57 people are here at this mass burial site, a city worker told AFP. But only a fraction of those are visible.
They heaped some in black zipped body bags. Others in civilian clothing they only partly buried — a pale hand, a booted foot, or the cusp of a forehead exposed to snow falling on the harrowed commuter town.
They bundled one body in a red and white bedsheet near a single pink woman's sandal.
Hands and feet reach out from the earth in improbable poses, suggesting a tangle of remains beneath the surface.
Liuba's neighbour retreats to a fallen tree and collapses. Though they held him in comfort by a female companion, his anguish prevents him from coming closer.
"This wound will never heal," says Liuba. "I would not wish it even on my worst enemy."
Nearby, along a thin grey road framed by shattered homes, four men pilot a white van from corpse to corpse.
AFP counted 20 along this single stretch. Some lie with legs tangled in bikes, others near a ruined car blemished with countless bullet marks.
All are in civilian clothing and one has his hands bound behind his back with a strip of white fabric, his hooded head in a crimson puddle.
Vitalii Shreka, 27, tries to cut the cloth but his pen knife fails. He unknots it instead and hauls the cadaver into a body bag the team zips tight.
One by one, the men inspect the dead for ID cards, then stack them in the cargo bay. Shreka holds them steady with blue surgical gloves smeared in day-old blood.
One corpse is wearing a blue and yellow armband, a signal of solidarity with Ukraine.
A worker throws a bike at two lumbering dogs stalking too close.
The team drive up the road but they forced to reverse. They have missed one more person: a black hooded figure, totally still, lost in the devastated scenery.
They added it to the growing pile in the van.
"It needs to be done," says 44-year-old Vladyslav Minchenko, standing over a body next to a scattering of potatoes wrinkled by rain — relics from a final shopping trip.
"I did not understand this myself before, when I didn't have to, but it's necessary."
Minchenko and his three colleagues estimate there are "over 10" dead bodies already inside the van.
But still there is more work to do.
Municipal worker Serhii Kaplychnyi says his team struggled to bury the dead during Russia's short-lived occupation of Bucha, the focus of growing war crimes allegations against President Vladimir Putin.
"There are many people who died from their bullets and shrapnel," he told AFP. "They would not allow us to bury them."
"They said while it was cold to let them lie there."
Eventually, he says, the Russians allowed his team to collect the bodies from the morgue. "We dug a mass grave with a tractor and buried everyone," he recalls.
Outside the Bucha mayor's office, Kaplychnyi now coordinates a recovery effort in the town.
There is a thin sheen of triumph. Military men give each other hard-gripping hugs, miniature Ukrainian flags are being handed out, aid convoys are creeping in.
But Kaplychnyi's mind travels to the trauma of the past weeks. On one day, his team recovered 10 people shot in the head: "Apparently a sniper was 'having fun'."
Civilians also made efforts to bury their neighbours as best they could, in gardens and factories, too fearful to risk a proper funeral.
"There is an old disused sewer pit, and they put them there, too. — covered them up so they're still lying there," he said.
"Now we will collect them."

Love her... She wears a casa around town in Cuba to remind others to stay home and go out when only necessary, make as few trips as possible and combine all your needs into one trip out.
It says "I'm at home .... "
It also says to me... "Im as safe outside as I am inside my home" it remains not to be in terror of the pandemic. Be comfortable about what the COVID and dangers of racism is out and about. Shit is gonna hit the fan. Be comfortable with it. Its gonna happen and there's no stopping it.
Idk who she is or that she expects her messages to go that far but for me they do.
Cops nervous to go to work. Be as comfortable out as you are in. No one is in those police cars they burn. Take out your personal belongings, be prepared to leave your car if necessary to be burnt.
If you are police all you have to do is Surrender.
You. We.
Its about equality.
The message is: you expect us to surrender to you. So surrender to Me. Give me your name and number. Tell me that you will cooperate and care about me.
Tell me you won't plant drugs on me. Tell me i killed someone of another race that i didn't simply because of the color i am
Treat me fair and with equality to truth and justice.
That is all a police needs to do. Surrender the truth. You ask. You demand. You punish until you find the truth. Make sure it is truth.
Surrender. Feel as we feel. Feel as hundreds of thousands of millions black men near a nervous white woman. But give us just the truth and we will obey your demands 0f "step back" and "move back"
Outside. In the public street. It is our home. Civilians and professionals. Treat us as you would in your home. Because we are all in our home we all share when we are in public.
Love.
That is what this blessed Cuban Woman says to me.
The police merely need to surrender.
The Atlanta PD. I ordered the CIA to inflict terror upon you. Go outside and your police car is in flames. Feet from your unwet down house. I asked them, i told them i demanded. Go fuck them up. They want to tell the public they don't care? Tell them NO ONE CARES ABOUT THEM.
3 have been set on fire. And 17 have been stolen. They decided as a team. On their own. To protect the town's assets in Zone 5. And to steal the police cars. You're not using them you're not qualified. You're unwilling. So they stole them instead. They arent afraid. They will fuck you up and kick your fucking asses. But they respect the Mayor. They're not afraid of her. They aren't afraid of anyone. They know in 15 minutes I'll have them on their way to a private island that is protected by the fiercest military in the world And they will lay around in paradise and no one will ever touch them for legal abuse. But they do respect her.
So they will repair the damage done by hotwiring the police cars and make a key via a locksmith skill for the patrol cars. And they will wait for her to fill them with a qualified officer. Because they respect her. They love Her.
I didn't not love nor respect her But my anger was very very high. And i thought fuck them, I'll buy her whatever police fleets she wants. Cause i want them to suffer.
But they're all "Sabrina, we get you baby but we know something else that's just a bit better for you and we're gonna do that. Its gonna fuck them all up real good and send the message you're saying. But we're gonna be a little bit more chill."
That's love. That's family. They confiscated evidence of these police officers possible wrong doing. A federal judge could and would sign off on the "theft" of those police cars. But we escalated and bypassed.
According to Tree. There's only 5 willing to go back to work. But they're also arrogant fools that tree doesn't even like. But he said leave them be. Let them work.
Leave them be. Bees sting once then die
Leave them alone is another story.
I get it. It was a justified homocide. I feel the same. They talked for over 40 minutes then the cop said i think you're still wasted. Take a breathalyzer. He was still too drunk.
At the same time he was just saying he would just walk. His sister lived down the road. He lied about being lost so he could say mistaken identity. Because he was there to check out for his kidnapping.
Because he knew, the cop, he was a kidnapper -- he felt it unsafe to let him free in the streets.
Watch the video, the entire 40 plus minutes. You will see exactly why I do not allow my CIA to engage in verbal communication.
This is exactly why I tell them "just kill at the first moment you can"
I protect my men and women of "Enforced Protection"
Now add to the knowledge of who he is and look at his necklace. It's designed to look like an undercover police badge in a leather case "to protect it from scratches"
You're on the street. He's drunk and angry. He kidnapps you with chloroform and ties you up, bound and gagged. He's a big man. He can do 23 (it's been proven Bec he's done it) people off the street in less than an hour. Call a van for pick up.
It was a justified homocide.
So you're a cop. And you know this. And You refuse to go to work. You know who and what he was and why he wasn't allowed to be free in the streets.
Then you refuse to continue protecting innocent citizens.
That makes me mad. You're no better than Rayshard Brooks. You're fucking letting it happen. Id fucking punch you dead in the face. All 25 of you.
Why don't you just start going out and kidnapping yourself?!? Huh?!?! You ain't doing shit But letting it happen!!!!
Prove it is justified if you're so fucking angry you wanna quit. Fucking prove it was justified and help them two arrested by doing it yourself.
Prove the justice by killing those human traffickers you know are. Kill them all in your uniform.
Instead you decide to be a civilian and serve war from your couch. Except youre not. You're nothing but a COWARD.
Just sitting on the couch. You're too scared to stand up to the District Attorney or make a meeting with the Mayor. You cower and you hide and you become what you're supposed to protect zone 5 from.
Because you refuse to protect. Every single domestic violence act. Every fire. Every lost child. Every single crime. You put that shit in your heart not that you couldn't get there in time. Not that you couldn't protect them because lies. BUT THAT YOU YOURSELF DID IT. You put that in your heart the moment you called in sick.
You yourself did it. Because people will start doing more bull shit. Because they know THERE IS NO COPS IN ZONE 5. THE PURGE IS ON.
Every single mother fuckera calling in coward crybaby committed those crimes.
It wasn't encouragement. You're guilty because it occurred. Its all on you. Its all your fault.
Next girl slapped by her husband. Or raped by her brother. That's the fault of Zone 5. They did it. May as well pulled out their own dick and got the pleasure. Too.
Its not a gimmick. Its the truth.
When APD of Albuquerque, New Mexico walked out with wooden batons. They too did every bearing by a police officer in a riot. That is who i saw. That is who i know.
I was beat as a little girl. 5 years old. And 7. For going and asking for help. "Sir could you help me..." I never got to finish because i was beat down.
Left bloody in the streets. Even raped and no one did anything. The cops did both..
So yeah FUCK YOU SURRENDER TO OUR DEMANDS OR YOU WILL SUFFER.
Im suing the City of Albuquerque in 6 different law suits. Including trauma i received when viewing a video of the APD in their riot gear with batons.
Not even protecting the statue!!!! But attacking innocent people in the streets while CRIMES AGIANST PUBLIC PROPERTY WITH VIOLENT STRENGTH was being committed feet away.
Personal trauma and suffering.
I still suffering.
I won't sue APD of Atlanta. Because I took away their police cars which will be returned to the city's mayor. She seems to have common sense and decency.
We already have plans for those two fired. To help them. Don't think I'm stupid because I get relaxed.
But the rest of that shit? You work for 911? 911 been calling. Over and over.
CIA does NOT ANSWER 911. That's not their job. We don't work for you. You dont call in sick and get paid to be a little bitch and order us around to do your job while you're being paid doing nothing and my CIA don't get money from the police. That's what APD expected.
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS.
Mi Casa. Su Casa. Treat it as it is.

In your teenage mecha ninja turtles fic what's all of the main 6 doing with their lives? Are Donnie and April just collecting degrees and being geniuses? Are Leo and Usagi making use of dimensional skype calls? I'm so pumped to hear what you think they're doing.
In this fanfic of mine, the main six have all aged as well as six human/mutant disasters possibly can, and this is what my version of things has them doing:
April and Donnie started a company together once alien/mutant rights were established; the company is O’Neil laboratories and majority of their work is in sciences that no one else for a long time could even comprehend. Very world changing stuff. Donnie is mostly only involved with the scientific portion of things, he remains the top scientist and likely will even after death, while April is a tiny devil in a suit that continues to crush their competitors/saboteurs under her fist. She might be pushing ninety, but she is A) still a kickass kunoichi, and B) the most powerful psychic this side of the galaxy, possible in all the known universe. She’s a scary as hell old battle ax, and Donnie is a grumpy old codger. They live together for convenience and because they’ve remained best friends their whole lives.
Casey and Raph got restless around sixty or so, and ended up becoming travelers. Like, inter-dimensional and universal travelers. When they’re on earth Casey and Raph spend most of their time crashing at April and Donnie’s place, but otherwise make their way through dimensions and galaxies as they feel like it. Traveling with them is typically Casey’s daughter, Shadow (they couldn’t stop him from giving her that name, trust me they tried), who is buff, stubborn, and too much like her uncle and dad. Their time spent on earth is getting longer lately, since they’re really getting up there in years, but they remain the hellraisers they’ve always been.
Leo is a bit of a drifter on earth, moving between his siblings and friends and spending months on his own wherever he ends up next. Occasionally he’ll visit other dimensions, like Usagi’s, which has always felt like a home to him, but he likes earth best of all. He spends the most time in Japan, partially because it’s where his father was from, partially because he just prefers the culture and atmosphere of the country. Once they were really done their wars and battles, he hung up his mantle as a sensei and leader and retired for good. A lot of bad stuff happened to them over the years, and his choices directly led to some of those things. They’ve all got issues like that, even years later, but Leo feels the weight of them the most at times.
Him spending time with Karai and her wife Shinigami helps with that, since Karai’s role as the Godmother of the Foot clan is hardly an easy one. Her popular saying is that her daughter Pimiko will have to cremate her before she lets go control completely. They basically spend a lot of time being meddling meddlers and showing the current generation of crime bosses they still got it.
Mikey is the only one who remained in New York, but sometimes still goes to stay with one of his siblings/friends or goes on a road trip with Raph, Casey, and Shadow (and whoever she’s dating at that moment). Home sweet home is where he’d rather be though, even if Donnie keeps telling him he should at least buy a real house. (Mikey still prefers living off the grid, and this has resulted in Donnie and April putting money into creating a new lair for him. One they admittedly also really love being in, same for everyone else in their family. They’ve come so far from who they were as teens, but sometimes they just gotta go back to where they started.) He ends up semi-adopting his four ‘turtles’ one by one, and eventually becomes the Hamato who follows in Splinter’s steps. He’s pretty proud of himself for that and he loves all his kids down to his old bones.
Family reunions are a huge mess, since the Hamato clan has gotten pretty large over the years, but they make sure to have one every few months regardless. Family is a precious thing, and they’ve all got the lingering feeling that one of them could disappear at any time if they’re not careful. The whole process just gets even more chaotic now that Mikey has kids too, and honestly the idea of them all being wrinkly old hellraising veterans together is an excellent one. Especially now that the next generation is there to learn from them all.

In my hometown it's illegal to walk on the sidewalk, specifically because you have to leave space for bikes to not be on the road.
It's also illegal to ride a bike on the sidewalk because you have to leave room for pedestrians.
I'm not saying they enforce these laws, but they're on the books and technically active. I for one don't have the time or resources to fight them, so if some cop sees me on the sidewalk and decides to ruin my day I'm basically done with life.
Yes I picked a ridiculous law as an example, specifically to point out how insane it sounds. But there are laws like this everywhere.
Technically it's illegal for me to fire a nerf gun in city limits. The law says any projectile launching device, regardless of launching speed, projectile makeup, or propulsion method, is illegal. If kiddo wants to go to the park and take part in a nerf war, all it takes is one power tripping cop to wreck everyones day.
By the way, 90% of my local areas police force are constantly in and out of court for abuse of power and police brutality charges.
Now imagine your Alexa or Echo or smartphone picking up that there was going to be a nerf war.
No, wait, don't imagine. Look up the guy who went for a jog and got arrested later that day because his smartphone had him near a house that got robbed. He happened to go down a street where someone had broken into a home, and both things happened between times the homeowner left and came back.
Because burglary is a real crime. Unlike firing a nerf gun or riding a bike in my hometown.
The headline: UK Drug Dealer Feeling Bleu After Cheese Photo Leads To Arrest
The article: Police cracked encryption on a privacy-focused phone service provider and ran fingerprint analysis on photos posted by users.
Like I get that law enforcement does things like this, that’s literally what it exists for, I’m just really upset by the cutesy framing.
Also. Like. Don’t organize shit online or over the phone. Law enforcement has been pressuring tech companies to put backdoors into encrypted services for years, this whole crackdown happened because of a device-level attack, and you never know who’s listening.
And yeah. If you’re setting up an anonymous ID online for any reason do not, under any circumstances, post or share any identifying information under that ID or with devices associated with that account.

Ooo doubles on Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes there's three books out now n they're funny n I love the world building n there's space dinos! The first book has road trip/space opera vibes like Angry Planet for sures. Hopefully not to spoilers-y but the second book has a bit of a pokémon parody which I loved. I love all the characters and how big and colorful the space is. Also cats.
I really love the White Space books by Elizabeth Bear, so far just Ancestral Night and Machine out I think. There are some similarities with Becky Chambers' Galactic Commons series in world building. It attempts a utopian look at a galactic community spanning loads of alien species. There's some amazing diversity in the aliens, which I love, tho both books use different human pov characters.
Precursor species are a big theme in both of those series if ur into that.
Less "fun" unless your idea of fun is war crimes and political plots (less lighthearted I guess I mean), but since u love Murderbot I feel I gotta bring up the Imperial Radch trilogy by Ann Leckie. The main character is an AI in a human body, the last remaining ancillary of a battleship, on a quest for revenge against the immortal emperor who destroyed her. (Interesting to note all citizens of the Radch use she/her pronouns.) There is another book out set in the same universe after the trilogy and another one will be coming out this summer! I love Leckie's worldbuilding and all the different cultures.
Oh also also Kaia Sønderby's Xandri books. Testing Pandora is actually the first of the series, then Failure to Communicate, and then Tone of Voice. For some reason Testing Pandora isn't always listed. The books are about one of the few remaining autistic humans in the galaxy who works as a xeno-liason. Her job is generally helping to negotiate with alien species to make agreements or join the interstellar government she's a part of called the Alliance. There is a theme of ableism and eugenics via genetic engineering to eliminate disabilities, which is why Xandri is so unique and has to navigate discrimination and figuring out her autistic self. Despite that, the books are a comfort read to me, and I love the aliens in them!
Okay one last one I swear! Persephone Station by Stina Leicht. Multiple pov characters, one is a traveling humanoid AI. The plot is about the people of a corporate owned world, including an indigenous species the corporation has hidden from the bigger interstellar government to maintain ownership of the world. They are fighting the corporation but there's also dramatic interpersonal beef between two very old humans.
Anyone got fun sci-fi recs? Emphasis on Fun.
Murderbot are my comfort books and I loved The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. That’s really the ideal vein that I’m looking for. I’ve read some Scalzi books and enjoyed them and same with the Martian, but beyond that I’m still pretty fresh to sci fi. I’m a big fantasy person, so I’d appreciate any and all ideas of what I can explore next. Thanks!!!
#book recs#books to read#can u tell my favorite thing is worldbuilding#i should turn some recs into reviews sometime idk why i can't do reviews normally
