The wild robot can be seen as an allegory for queer acceptance
So the movie's been on my mind for quite some time, but only recently did I start thinking about the many ways it could be interpreted. I think the wild robot can be seen as a movie about the prejudice queer people face, specifically queer families.
Roz is immediately met with hostility when she first steps foot on the island. Makes sense. She's a big lumbering robot, and although well-meaning, is loud and rough, as shown when she destroys Paddler's dam.
The animals' reluctance to warm up to her is initially understandable and somewhat justified up until she is able to communicate with them.
After this scene, it's clear they're unwilling to try to understand what they don't know, which is something many lgbtq+ people face in today's society.
Later on, she meets Fink, a sly fox, and the only fox on the island, who initially takes advantage of her naivety for his own wants and needs, and it isn't until she shows him respect and kindness where he softens up to her. The two form a friendship, with fink going from a complete stranger, to being a part of Roz's little family.
To make it clear, I don't think roz and fink's relationship is supposed to be romantic or have romantic undertones. He is a lonely fox learning about friendship and what it means to have a friend, and above all that, is slowly learning to express his true feelings. That is why I think they have a very awkward exchange later on when the two are sitting side by side on the cliff side after brightbill's departure.
Fink constantly brings up our poorly his mother treated him, and in an effort to give brightbill a loving, caring mother figure, helps roz loosen up for her son and for her own sake, so that he doesn't have to witness another child grow up motherless.
I also believe this line heavily indicates his love for roz is platonic.
Including this moment
He isn't seeking a mother figure in roz. In fact, the vibe their dynamic initially gives of is "soldier showing the new younger recruit around". But it does feel like he tries to latch onto her motherly side because he missed out on motherly love growing up.
I think mentioning fink's relationship to roz is relevant to the topic at hand because it essentially challenges the notion that two people who raise a child together are romantically interested in each other. Fink is more of a neighbour who decided to help the single mother out and now she asks you to call him uncle because he was in your life from the start lol. Brightbill calling Roz "mom" several times but not calling Fink "dad" is another huge indicator, and it goes against the typical view of him immediately being seen as the "dad AND husband" simply because he is the older male in the family.
He's also a little bit zesty lol.
Fink being an outsider and feeling like he's not accepted by the animals on the island, much like roz, is another give away in my opinion. We don't exactly know the reason for why most of the animals aren't accepting of him, but this moment of roz reassuring and encouraging him is like two gay best friends fighting together against the harsh realities of the world by putting aside the fact that they're unappreciated to save everyone.
And before this, Fink teasingly responds to roz turning off the transmitter by stating that he thought she was supposed to follow her protocol, to follow what "they" told her to do.
This in of itself can be seen as the friend who has already accepted what he is, encouraging you to come out the closet, regardless of what the important people in your life might say or think. It also links back to the geese insulting and devaluing Roz, which could be a comment on how children of queer families or specifically same-sex couples/ lesbian or gay single parents, are bullied irl.
In regards to Roz, she's not shown crushing on anyone, being in love or considering the possibility of her being romantically attracted to ANYONE in the movie, and the only time she encounters a character who somewhat romantically caresses her, it's with a female robot.
With everything in mind, she can definitely be seen as lesbian-coded.
But yh, awesome movie.

I'm gonna share some Guilty Gear LGBTQ+ "headcanons" that are most likely canon. Most of these go off of the idea that Elphelt's Magnum Wedding Instakill (MW) doesn't override sexuality.
Despite my claims of these being most likely canon, most things here are not directly confirmed by Daisuke Ishiwatari, ArcSystem Works, or any other individuals involved with the making of these characters or the Guilty Gear franchise and the following should still be taken as headcanon as these are my readings of certain things I've found in the games. You have been advised.
May - Bisexual, possibly confused lesbian - She does, in fact, fall in love with Elphelt here, but has a thing for Johnny, possibly. The thing with Johnny is that she might not actually have a crush on him. From my own experiences, it's possible that May could be overly obsessed with Johnny, and may be misunderstanding her obsession and hyper fixation on him as a romantic interest in him. This idea also makes the whole Johnny and May thing less creepy as Johnny is her dad, and, I believe is supported by one of MW lines being "C-Could this be romance?! Oh my gosh!" implying that how she feels for Elphelt during Magnum Wedding is different from how she feels for Johnny, possibly even completely redefining romance for her, which is pretty huge for someone who's been seemingly romantically attracted to someone for years.
Millia - Bisexual, possible preference for women - She 100% had romantic and sexual feelings for Zato, which he manipulated prior to his death. Because of the sexual manipulation from Zato, it seems that she is not keen on being involved with a man again in any way. However, in MW, she falls in love with Elphelt, even going as far as to say "Have I chosen the yuri route..?" This doesn't really explain the "preference to women" part of this idea, but another quote of Millia's is "This is a whole new world...!" which, at least to me, shows that she experiences romance with a woman in a much more positive way than with a man.
Elphelt - Pansexual - When MW is used against herself, Elphelt says "I-I'll just take anyone...?" So like, yeah. Also she fell in love with herself, that's pretty gay.
Baiken - Bisexual - I'm pretty sure that she and Anji are confirmed to be a thing? I could 100% be wrong on that. However, when Baiken gets hit with MW, she falls in love with Elphelt. Despite that, she seems very reluctant, which could be shown as rejection (which I'll get to because it DOES happen), but I interpret this instead as denial of her feelings. This is further emphasized by her character, being a cold, lone wolf type of person. This can be seen in her platonic relationships as well, in which, only really accepting the company of Anji (possibly not platonic) and Delilah with Delilah being her latest friendship. The idea of her being in denial is in the line, "Won't work. Try to fall for someone el...?!" which, in my interpretation, means that she doesn't believe she's good enough, but is cut off by the sheer amount of love she's feeling from MW.
Jam - Bisexual - She wants to hire "cute boys" (boys she's attracted to) like Ky Kiske to work at her diner. In both Jam's Story ending 1 and Bridget's story ending 1 of Accent Core Plus, Jam actually hires Bridget to work at the diner. While Bridget identified as male then, she now identifies as female, though, that might not mean much. What means much more is her MW line, "Cute girl maybe ok, too." which implies that "cute girls" (GIRLS she's attracted to) would be hired as well.
Jack-O' - Bisexual - Is Aria, wife of Sol Badguy. They're also together in the ending of Strive. Reason that she's bisexual is because she refers to her and Elphelt as a couple in her MW line "Birth of a new-age couple?!" so that's pretty cut and dry.
Kum - Lesbian - When hit with MW, she falls in love with Elphelt as shown by the line, "Romance filter severely damaged!" meaning that, well, romance. Duh. I say lesbian specifically because, to my knowledge, she doesn't show attraction to any men, really just Elphelt, if anything were to come out where she shows attraction to a man or if I missed something that does the same, then I'd say she's bisexual. But for now, she's lesbian.
Venom - Gay - Now for the part that proves that MW doesn't override sexuality and that all of the above characters are attracted to women. Venom is canonically gay, this isn't a headcanon, this is just outright confirmed. However, it's important to note that Venom resists the romantic nature of MW as shown by his lines, "My loyalty cannot be broken!" "You cannot tempt me!" and last, but not least, "Lord ZATOOOO!" The fact that Venom, who in canon is exclusively attracted to men, does not fall in love with Elphelt in MW, means that the above characters DO fall in love with Elphelt and ARE attracted to women.
Bedman - Aroace - Completely rejects the concept of being in love ("Damn witch! You cannot take my heart from me!" "Are you trying to corrupt me?) when hit with MW, and, in one line, exclaims, "You cannot replace Delilah!" which is just comparing the effects of MW to his only other relationship, which is platonic, which is with his sister, which makes me feel like it's not at all romantic or sexual to him in any way.
Ramlethal - Aroace - At first, I thought she could be lesbian, but one of my friends who knows a lot more about GG lore and Ramlethal in specific than me argued that she's Aroace, citing one of her taunts in Strive that implies she has no concept of romance and that it's kinda gross to her. He also said that her saying "Is this my true self?" is about her experiencing human emotions, which she doesn't believe she can do (at least during Xrd's story mode). He, however, did say that as her concept and expression of human emotions develops, things could change, and she may end up developing romantic feelings, but that is not definite. As of right now, Ramlethal is aroace, at least in my books.
Testament - Nonbinary with attraction to men - I don't know if Testament has any attraction to women, but I read their intro lines in Strive with Johnny as them being a thing, as Johnny offers to go out to eat after their fight in one line. Testament is confirmed to be nonbinary though.
Johnny - Bi or Pansexual, though could still be straight? - This one veers much more into headcanon territory, but it's possible that Johnny could be bisexual or pansexual as he may in a situationship with Testament, as I mentioned just above. Testament does, however, present more femme than masc, and does use feminine pronouns alongside gender neutral and masculine pronouns, so it's possible that Johnny simply counts Testament as a woman and is still straight.
Bridget - Sapphic transgender woman - Bridget is a trans woman in canon, however, it's not confirmed if she is attracted to men, women, neither, or both. However, Daisuke once made some very interesting art where May is gripping Bridget's butt pretty strong (which is really just more evidence for May being sapphic), but Bridget doesn't seem troubled by it or anything soooo. Also, of the 2 characters that have special lines when defeated by Bridget in Strive, May gets 2 lines while Bridget herself only gets 1, no one else has a special line at this time.
I-no - Pansexual - Pretty sure she'll top anyone, even people who claim to be tops. This is basically just a headcanon, but apparently she teases both men and women when defeating them, soooo.
BONUS!!
These characters are, in my opinion, heterosexual despite this being contested in some smaller aspects of the community.
Sin - When hit with MW, one of Sin's lines is, "Farewell... virginity..." so yeah, he's straight. Idk, could be bi, but I see no evidence for that. Most people say he's aroace because he's so young, childish, and dumb, but Dizzy fell for Ky around the same age soooo...
Dizzy - When hit with MW, it feels like she's rejecting Elphelt, much like Venom and Bedman, saying "I'm married!" "I'm sorry, I can't!" "I-I have a son..." much less like a denial of feelings similar to that of Baiken. I don't think her sexuality is contested as much as Sin's is, but I still feel like this is worth mentioning.
yeah i think that's it really
END
If you have any other pieces of evidence for OR AGAINST my ideas and evidence, then please share!!! I am open to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism :3!!!
Reminder that MOST of these aren't technically confirmed to be canon, so take these as head canons if anything, not cold, hard facts!! And please, do not be rude about these either.
Also, do not deny ACTUAL canon (Venom being gay, Bridget being a transwoman, and Testament being nonbinary) as that is not cool and disrespectful to the ideas of Daisuke himself!!!
Thank you for reading, and I hope you all have a great day ^^!!!!!

I don't think I've ever encountered a lesbian couple as deranged as Wanpleng in fiction before like they really take the trophy for how toxic and messed up they are and they're only 17 right now! I just know it's gonna get so much worse 😭
but already we have absolutely insane levels of jealousy and codependency issues as well as fucking astronomical levels of romantic friendship intimacy and blatant gay denial. like they just took a casual bath together and Pleng gave her platonic bestie a massage while they were naked in a bath tub together like it was no big deal! Yes, Pleng has a "holy shit I'm gay" realization shortly after that but the fact that the bath even occured in the first place ... like how gay and oblivious do you have to be.
And like I know standards of skinship are different in a lot of Asian countries and these two characters in particular grew up together in the same household because one is the daughter of the maid and the other daughter of the rich ppl, but still!!! that shit ain't normal or typical!!!
and then there's the fact that they're so codependent attached that they're both fucking terrified of the idea of being "left behind" by the other but they both seem to think of it as inevitable. So, Wan semi-seriously semi-jokingky, I think, suggests that she should get a boyfriend before Pleng does. In Wan's mind, this is how she can combat the fear of losing Pleng. She quickly realizes this wouldn't work, of course, but not before Pleng realizes she's in love with Wan and that realization utterly terrifies her.
And she acts as any lesbian with extreme internalized homophobia would ... she runs away from her feelings. She avoids Wan, puts the distance up, and she decides to get Wan a boyfriend so that in her mind Wan isn't leaving her ... she's leaving Wan! 😭😭😭
These two lesbians are so fucking crazy.
And Wan, of course, sees Pleng acting insane about the whole boyfriend situation and rightly calls her out for it! She's ecstatic when Pleng is jealous, but utterly horrified and upset and heartbroken when Pleng tries to force her and Ek together.
That was probably the first time Wan had ever told Pleng that she hated her. Granted, I'm sure they probably had some toddlerhood spats but this was probably the first serious time in their young "adulthood" where that was said.
And Pleng reacts as any young lesbian who is desperately in love with her best friend who she is too intimately attached to would ... she tries to kill herself.
Like holy shit.
Wan says "I hate you" one time—after Pleng very smugly declared that Wan was basically incapable of being annoyed with Pleng after Pleng's extremely controlling behavior, like seriously look at this smug ass face no wonder everyone hates her

this is the face of a girl who gets whatever she wants especially when it concerns her friend! the face of a girl used to always being in control!
but anyway! that's kind of the point isn't it? everyone hates her. her personality is kind of toxic and everyone, including her own parents, points it out to her. everyone hates her. except Wan (and her family ofc but they're not important rn). Wan doesn't hate her. and that relationship is so special to Pleng.
she wants to distance herself from Wan in an attempt to avoid her own feelings (and in effect avoid rejection from her feelings) but she also doesn't actually want distance or separation. not really. what she wants is to feel in control of herself and her feelings.
and Wan telling Pleng that she hates her—rejecting her when Wan is the ONLY person that sincerely loves and cares for Pleng—is fuckinh devastating and takes all that control away from her...
and she attempts to kill herself to escape that feeling and heartbreak.
like jfc these two girls are so messed up!
talk about your feelings goddammit!!! y'all can touch each other constantly and press your foreheads together and be naked in a tub together but you can't talk about your feelings???? fucking emotionally constipated lesbians

I was watching your Udyr video, and it's fantastic. I really love the section about Udyr and Lee. I went to check out the skin spotlight video with all his new voicelines, and made the cardinal sin of looking in the comments for other excited queer people.
They were there, but there were so many people screaming about how they are Just Good Pals™, which was made doubly funny when I saw tons of people talking about how Udyr and Illaoi would make such a good couple and no one was busting out the dissertation on Platonic Heterosexuality on that one. We're stretching on "my spirit" but yeah, this woman he's never met would be PERFECT for him.
Anyway, I know you must see this stuff a lot in your videos, but I really appreciate you being so vocal about queerness in video games. It's really great to see
I mean, it really does sometimes feel like I am going insane when I point out the glaringly, WILDLY obvious queer subtext-- or, no, you know what, not even subtext: text -- in League of Legends characters' stories and relationship and a thousand of the most obtuse motherfuckers on the planet instantly materialize in my comments section to complain about how "why can't characters just be friends anymore?????"
I have never, not even once, had anyone post shit like that in my comments when I discuss a straight romance in anything, weirdly. It's very strange. They seemed so concerned about the sanctity of friendship. Maybe they just missed those videos.
Also, I have it on extremely good authority that Udyr and Lee Sin's relationship is romantic, it's meant to be understood as romantic, and they love each other in explicitly romantic ways. Like, Udyr's voice lines compare him to Kalkia very, very much on purpose. It is text, not subtext.
Additionally:
Lux's story is a metaphor for queerness
Neeko is lesbian
Nidalee is not straight
Taliyah is trans
Miss Fortune is turbo-sapphic, but too busy with vengeance to do anything about it
Graves is a disaster bisexual and Twisted Fate is his non-married husband
Taric is pan
Ekko and Ezreal are not straight and have a bromantic romantic on-again off-again disaster relationship in the Pulsefire universe
Caitlyn and Vi are deeply in lesbians
Draven is aro/ace but will make an exception for Draven
Diana and Leona are not sisters (please for the love of god stop believing this) and they are extremely bitter, toxic exes
Fiora is not interested in dating men, take a wild guess why
Varus is aro/ace, and he's got two wolves inside of him who are both gay
Irelia has at least one girlfriend
Seraphine and Zaun Diva, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i... well, actually they're probably singing a distressingly beautiful romantic duet of some kind
Vladimir is the queerest Dorian Gray motherfucker who ever walked on Runeterra's green grass. I can't justify this with lore, it is just obviously true

Have some sketches I made the last couple of months since discovering Moral Orel

I did some doodles before this to learn how to draw Orel and this was my first attempt at drawing him in my style. I also drew Christina.

I love Stephanie, so I made a page dedicated to her. The flag is supposed to be the lesbian flag. I decided that I should also draw some of the other adult characters. From left to right: Bloberta, Clay, Reverend Putty, Miss Censordoll, Principal Fakey, and Miss Sculptham. I had a theme with the right page, the adults of Moralton that should be role models for Orel but constantly let him down /lh

Adult Swim canceling this show is my Roman Empire. They really canceled it before the main character could go through his entire arc. I made these design mainly to work on something else, but I'm happy to have made them. I have definitely been inspired by other designs fans have made, but I did try to be original. Also made one for Christina! She's kinda inspired by pastel goth cause I imagine her parents are more strict and wouldn't let her wear traditional goth attire. She's probably already pushing the line.

Finally, some OCs I made. I'm sorry. First two are friends for Christina, I wanted to do something more then make a female Doughy and I had fun making them. The second is an OC I designed for a fic that is currently a wip. Yes, I did have a fun time creating the punny names.
Laika Lyukanida is Christina's childhood best friend. She is a second-generation Russian-American, her grandfather defected the USSR and moved to the US. I wrote that he was KGB, but I'm thinking that him being a spy makes more sense. I thought it would be funny for her to quote her grandfather sometimes and it being obvious that the quote was about his previous work, but neither her or Christina recognize it.
She is more resistant to Christina's chaotic plans, but she always finds herself working on them anyway. She has an interest in science and is often sneaking in the library against her family's wishes. As she grows older, she probably becomes more agnostic but keeps it a secret. Her first name is mainly a reference to the claymation studio, but I imagine in universe she was named after the dog that made it to space. Her last name is a reference to an old stop motion film from Russia.
Komugi Nendo Jingorō is Christina's friend who has a friendly rivalry on who's the better Christian. She is unfortunately very aware of how much her and her family are outcasts due to being Japanese in a mostly white protestant town. Christina and Laika are her closest friends due to them being more accepting of her. Laika understands what it's like for her name to be constantly mispronounced and relates to her. Christina's parents, much like Orel's, are racist and she has to keep their friendship a secret from them.
Her first and middle name is a reference to flour clay. It's a type of clay that children play with, and I thought it would be a cute name for a kid character. Her last name is both a reference to an old Japanese artist known for working with clay, and a reference to a stop motion short film that is about the same guy.
Will Plasticine is a gay florist in Christina's hometown. He grew up there, and when he turned 18, he ran away from his parents to go to college out of state. He met Stephanie there and they immediately became friends due to them being able to relate with growing up closeted in a very religious environment. She made one of her first tattoos on him, a pink triangle on his upper arm. He opened a shop in his hometown once he finished college, but he still has contact with Stephanie and sometimes they visit each other.
His first name isn't a pun or a reference, his last name is a reference to material used for claymation, especially earlier on. I thought it would be funny to make him a florist to Stephanie's tattoo artist, ie the florist and tattoo artist au thing. Obviously it's not romantic, they're just good friend. I imagine he has a story that parallels the episode, "The Blessed Union", where Christina hears a sermon about how wives should treat their husbands and she becomes curious on what husbands should do for their wives and she ends up in his shop.

Buddie fans are relentless (and it's a good thing)
Geez, I was not prepared for the rollercoaster of woe that comes from shipping a pair that is not canon (yet!).
I am not a new fan to the show, 9-1-1. I've loyally watched every week for years, cherished the members of the 118, cherished Buck and Eddie's special relationship. I just hadn't been involved in the fandom of it all up until recently. I was just a tv viewer. But being newer to interacting with the fandom, I admit that consuming social media about 911 and Buddie has thrown me for a bit of a loop. I keep seeing the same recycled tactics to argue why people who ship buddie are delusional and why buddie will "never happen". These arguments are off-putting and frankly quite poor. (I don't like to focus on the negative so this will be my only post dedicated to this.)
Argument One: "There's already a gay couple on the show." No kidding. The statement is problematic in and of itself; people don't go around limiting the number of straight couples on a show, do they? It's fantastic that we have a strong, integral gay couple in Hen and Karen, two beautiful and fabulous lesbians, that are vital to this show, but why can't there be more? One representation alone doesn't cover the spectrum of LGBTQ+ portrayals of different romantic dynamics.
Argument Two: "Why can't we have two guys be close without putting a romantic label on it? It's refreshing to see male friendship." Bro... Platonic male friendship is important (all friendship is). It's not all that uncommon, though. Male friendship is focused on a lot already in many shows. But two adult male friends discovering new aspects of their identify that shift their relationship with each other toward something romantic? That's the more refreshing take here; it's one that we don't get to see in media right now but should. Flip the script, 9-1-1.
Argument Three: "They weren't introduced as gay or bi-sexual. It would be too out of left field to go there now." Not true. The show has the creative freedom to explore this narrative and can do it plausibly. There is obviously a very large part of the 9-1-1 fandom that has already interpreted Buck and Eddie's story as having the potential to become romantic. The pair has many parallels to the other canon couples on the show. There are plenty of moments and scenes from prior seasons (post-tsunami with Christopher, the shooting, the Will, all of Eddie Diaz's fond gazes aimed at Buck, etc.) that can be referenced in future episodes via well-crafted montage/edit that will help shed light on any developing feelings from either or both Buck and Eddie. Besides, not allowing a relationship to evolve into something different just because it didn't start out that way? What kind of stunted outlook is that? We want a story about how individuals can question and explore their sexuality at any age. Heck, during the graveyard scene near the end of season 6, Buck and Eddie talked about how experiences have changed them. They're clearly still growing and changing as individuals. It is not a stretch for them to discover whatever they've been searching for this whole time is actually found in each other. ---- That's it from me on this. I'm going to try doing a better job of ignoring the negative talk out there. I hope all buddie fans stay positive too, and when they call us relentless, we take that as a good thing. I hope we all recognize and resect the other characters and ships of this wonderful, wonderful show of ours too! Most of all, I hope we respect each other.

Top 20 Violetta ships (non-canon and canon both)
Ask me my top 20 of anything.
Oh gosh, this is hard. I used to think I had a lot of ships, but this ask has made me reconsider that lmao. I guess it's easier to think about 20 ships across different fandoms than it is for just one. I ended up making a general ranking because I really couldn't come up with 20 ships I like.
20. Dieletta - I won't deny that some of their scenes are cute, but in the back of my mind I'm always thinking about how they got to be there. Even during their relationship, Diego is super manipulative. I like their friendship in s3, though.
19. Caxi - It was very random and comphet-y.
18. Camcesca - I only see them as friends, but I don't mind this ship at all.
17. Gery/Clement - They exist, I guess. Good for them and especially for me, because they won't get in the way of my ship.
16. Diemila - I like them as a duo of friends who low-key want to rip each other's throats, but I don't ship them romantically.
15. Maxi/Andrés - They have a nice dynamic, I think they could be cute together!
14. Brodemila - Are they a healthy couple? No, but their shenanigans can be fun.
13. Marcesca - I just don't have strong opinions about them. They were good while they lasted, but I never particularly liked Marco.
12. Naxi - They're cute, unfortunately Naty gives off massive lesbian energy.
11. Marciego - The superior Marco ship imo.
10. León/Lara - I think they would've actually worked as a couple, if only León weren't madly in love with Violetta lol (which, for example, I can't see happening with Dieletta). RIP Lara, you were just unlucky.
9. Fedemila - Even though I fully headcanon Ludmila as a lesbian, they have a lot of cute scenes together and just as many funny scenes.
8. Franletta - I don't personally ship them, but they're an amazing pair. This show wouldn't be the same without their friendship, especially after s1, when there isn't that stupid love triangle going on.
7. Jade/Nicolás - It's great to see Jade find someone who worships the ground she walks on. I was surprised at how sad I was when they broke up, and they had a beautiful make up.
6. Pablangie - I really really really wish Pablo was Angie's endgame. The only reason I can't rank them higher is because their relationship is cyclically made super messy to set up the Germangie endgame.
5. Natila - I don't even think about this ship that much, but when I do I'm like, wow, they have insane chemistry.
4. Dieleon - The vibe is fantastic. Why does Diego in s2 sound like he's pursuing Violetta and León lol.
3. Diecesca - Very silly goofy at all times and I like that they're mostly drama-free. They're probably the most mature relationship in the show, which I think was needed among the chaos that is every other ship.
2. Luty - They're so gay fr. Especially in s3, once Ludmila starts to become a better friend towards Naty.
1.Leonetta - I'm sure everyone is very surprised by this. Who could possibly have guessed, right? I just yap about them all the time. No offense to the other ships in this ranking, but Leonetta makes me go feral in a way none of them can.
Thanks for the ask!

I fully believe that the only thing that stopped me from identifying as trans when I was younger was the fact of my autistic black and white thinking.
Well yeah. That guy is trans. And I think he's super cool. But I couldn't be trans despite the fact that I feel more like myself with him because he embodies everything I wish I could be but stop myself from being.
Oh no I absolutely could not be transgender at all! I didn't know I was a dude since I was three like all these other people who were taught the concept of gender and the fact that gay people exist from a young age and I only learned lesbians existed after I was ten years old.
Of course that person is transgender. The whole reason I changed the name on the sticky note set on their desk was because they're my friend and I'm an ally. Totally not because I want somebody to do the same for me.
Nah bro. I don't think my obsession with gender neutral names and wanting to change my name to Alex because it was the only gn name I knew at the time had any transgender reasons for it. I'm just super attached to the idea of accidentally being mistaken for a boy. Even if it's just by name.
The reason I specifically searched for books with male protagonists my age when I was younger was totally because of super straight reasons and not because I identified with them more than any of the female leads, despite being extremely similar to a lot of them.
Oh totally I'm not jealous of my brother who's only one year older than me, therefore I get to see him embody all these manly traits like getting a cool low voice and be taught things that I wish I could learn but I wasn't explicitly invited so I stay where I was.
What do you mean it's not normal to treasure the blue Finding Nemo basketball cap that I sneered at on Christmas Day for "looking too boyish" and wearing it inside the house while I crawled up on my grandfather's lap so he could read to me.
Of course my best friend of over seven years is my sister! Despite the fact that I feel completely uncomfortable when she claims that I am hers. Not because we're not family. Because something is wrong with the word "sister" and I can't tell what.
I mean shit. The only reason I realized that I could've been queer was bc somebody told me that if I(a "straight girl") liked a trans guy, then I would be pansexual.
Untrue, obviously, since trans guys are still guys, and my little 13yo brain thought the same way, but the fact that somebody said it so casually just opened the floodgates of "what ifs" for me.
And you know what?
The year after that, I came out publicly as bi. Then ace. Then two years after that gender fluid. Then in the same year, transmasc. Then lesbian a couple months later. Then transmasc but not lesbian after a couple weeks because my partner was also genderfluid. And now? Transmasc/trans man and bi, specifically for the girls and gnc folks.
Had that person not told me I was pansexual, I'm pretty sure I would've just gone around being indifferent to my romantic partners thinking that friendship was the romance all along this entire time.
Six entire years. And I was autistic the whole time.
It was always about being a good person for the "other" people who needed me until I realized I could be the other people as well.
The whole reason I didn't "show signs" of being transgender during my childhood?
Same reason I didn't show signs of being autistic.
I was mirroring people. I was mirroring what I thought was needed of me. Ignoring my interests or things I was curious about. Because I knew what was expected of me. That part of it was explained thoroughly, at the very least. The gender part of it all. And by God, I was going to do a good job at it.
And yeah. I was happy when I found dresses that were pretty.
Not because I was the one wearing them.
But because it meant that my mom thought I was doing such a good job at Gender that I deserved a skirt. In order to show it off to everyone.
Same reason I allowed my hair to be done. Little jewels to be twisted into my long locks that I grew myself and refused to cut. Because this was what I was good at. Everyone, even if they didn't like me, they liked my long, feminine hair. They liked my frilly, feminine dresses. And my shiny, feminine jewelry.
And well... I liked being liked. I liked being admired.
Because nobody noticed me any other way.
Unless it was for my art.
I was good at art.
I'm still good at art.
My "feminine" art.
I no longer get joy from long hair and frilly dresses and shiny jewelry.
But I still get joy from art.
Even if it isn't feminine.
Even if it isn't shown to anyone.
Because it is mine.
It is me.
It is the one thing that I grew up seeing that everyone could do. Regardless of skill. Everyone was thrown in a class together. Everyone crowded around the girl who drew anime in class. Everyone knew of the famous men like Van Gogh. Everyone was able to do art. Everyone was able to be creative. To get messy. To work with their hands.
And everyone meant that there was space for me, too.
There were finally shades of gray.
And I clutch them dearly to my heart, right next to the rainbows of devotion I painted on the inside walls of my ribcage.
Each palette I've created is a labor of love, used to picture the world in each wonderful shade of admiration.
And that is still the one thing that I have found that try as they might, they cannot sort into sexes.
So I keep my shades of gray. I keep my rainbows and my flags. And I paint them with all the colors I like. Because art showed me a way to be free. And I refuse to live my life in a cage. Regardless of who's hands made it.
I just know that it won't be mine.

Class 1a pride headcanons let's gooooo 🌈🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Going by seat order bc I'm autistic and it makes good sense
Also no mineta bc I don't know what to do with him
1. Aoyama 🌟🩶
Nonbinary and aspec. They aren't sure if they have a definitive gender one way or another but if anyone asks they just say "sparkling of course!! ✨️" as for sexuality/romantic attraction they are asexual and still questioning their romantic alignment. Honestly they would be happy going through life with maybe some qpps and not really thinking too much about it
2. Mina 👽🩷
Bi as hell babey!! Everyone is gorgeous in their own way!! Mina falls in love so fast and with so many people she's just like. Everyone deserves love and if she's gotta be the one to give it then so be it.
3. Tsu 🐸💚
Distinguished lesbian. Not afraid to tell the other 1a girls what makes them attractive. Tsu loves complimenting ppl and feels very proud of herself whenever the other girls get flustered bc she knows it means she's made their entire day.
4. Iida ⏩️💙
Bisexual and doesn't know what to do about it. Has many panicked conversations with Tensei over finding people attractive and feeling very weird about it bc they all live together and also puberty hormones hit him like a truck about a month or so after meeting everyone.
5. Ochako 🌌🩷
Pansexual. Very proud of it. Often seen very loudly validating her classmates identities and making sure that any potential homophobes and transphobes know that they will be punted into the stratosphere if they so much as breathe wrong in the general direction of anyone ochako cares about
6. Ojiro 🐒🤎
Token cishet. Great ally tho.
7. Kaminari ⚡️💛
Nonbinary and bisexual. Pronouns vary by the day. Often jokes that they've never made a decision in their entire life because of this. When they go pro there ends up being an official line of Chargebolt merch that has the slogan "gender? I don't even know'er!" On it.
8. Kirishima 💪❤️
Bisexual but kind of oblivious to it. Equates attraction to admiring someone for being "manly." It is discovered at some point during his years at UA that his personal definition of manly just encompasses all the traits that he finds attractive in a person plus other traits he admires but isn't necessarily into. This makes for a very confusing journey of self-discovery.
9. Kouda 🐇🤍
Grey ace. Questions his gender sometimes but is not overly concerned with what gender is the right one. More interested in solid friendships than dating too and so he ends up with qpps as his most meaningful relationships
10. Sato 🍫💛
Stereotypical cake loving aro ace. He doesn't care what everyone else is doing, he's busy perfecting his ganache.
11. Shouji 🤝🩵
On the ace spectrum but still figuring out exactly where. He has body image issues due to trauma and that kind of effects his views on attraction and romance.
12. Jirou 🎵💜
She thinks she's bi but she's still figuring it all out. Honestly anyone that can vibe to music with her could catch her eye, and she especially likes people that have slightly odd tastes such as listening to classical music or pre-quirk pop*
*(this is based on the headcanon that bnha takes place a couple hundred years into the future. Pre-quirk pop would just be the pop of the 80s up to about now in her view)
13. Sero 🩹🩶
(I couldn't find a tape emoji so bandaid it is)
Pansexual. He and ochako get along very well bc not only do they share an identity in this way, they also both feel like they're parenting their respective neurodivergent friend groups lol.
14. Tokoyami 🐦⬛🖤
Homoromantic ace. Sometimes does Bird Things to show his affection like bringing gifts and trinkets to ppl he is interested in or like nesting with their stuff. He finds these urges embarrassing but everyone else thinks it's cute and adores him for it.
15. Todoroki ❄️🔥❤️🤍
Gay gay homosexual gay. Has absolutely no idea how romance or crushes or teenage hormones or anything is supposed to work so he just does not realize that it isn't normal to daydream about cuddling his male classmates. Ochako gently explains the concept of a crush to him after he mentions something about this offhand and it blows his fucking mind.
16. Hagakure 🌫🤍
Bisexual and a very proud member of the Loving Women Club. Has a huuuuggeee crush on Mirko (which like, same girl).
17. Bakugou 💥🧡
Gay. Has a very specific taste in men but he won't tell anyone what it is because like three people on the entire planet fit the criteria (in his mind anyway) and he does not want anyone figuring out who he might be into because he sees it as weakness. Even after he goes to therapy he describes his type as "certain dumbasses who have issues and can't take a single fucking hint" so.
18. Deku 🐰💚
Bisexual disaster and everyone around him knows it. Has like 3 crises a day over finding random classmates attractive and overthinks everything there is to overthink in the situation. Luckily for him everyone knows what he's like and how his brain works and they find it endearing (even if certain classmates won't say it out loud)
19. Yaomomo ⚛️❤️
Lesbian. Momo recognizes that all the girls around her are so pretty and talented and it's a win for her bc they have such a culture of uplifting each other so she's constantly getting compliments from very pretty girls. She's living her best life as the president of the loving UA women club.
Bonus: shinso!!! 🐱💜
Shinso uses the Queer umbrella label. He has a preference for men but is generally attracted to any gender. When he transfers into class A the first two weeks are like a constant crisis bc he's like. Getting attention from all these attractive and talented people??? And they like him for who he is??? Paralyzing.

for the character ask: el and robin
el <333
1: sexuality headcanon: hmm I feel like el isn't the type to label her sexuality, I do think she's some sort of sapphic tho <3 I do think her first idea of romance was informed by television tho so there's some unlearning to do. she's a huge romantic. I also really like the idea of her Choosing to be a girl/woman after being reduced to an experiment for so long, whether that be her being a trans woman or a cis woman On Purpose
2: otp: I very rarely think of romances for the younger generation but I actually do enjoy elmike sometimes. love a good elmax moment too or elumax as an ot3. won't lie also slightly intrigued by the idea of eldustin
3: brotp: god I can't pick! elmax first girl best friendship is so special and el's friendship with the og party is so good, the sibling relationship she has with will and Jonathan is also so good (in my heart Steve is also part of this little sibling love fest lol she's the baby sister of the family) god also her relationship with both joyce and hop...like those are her parents <3 I also really like her relationship with kali and im really hoping we get to see more of it
4: notp: ive seen some grossss ships for el...anything that's with adults is no bueno for me.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head: ive been talking about this recently actually but since millie is half deaf ive thought about el also being half deaf and how she can possibly use her powers as an aide
6: favorite line from this character: the delivery of "I dump your ass" is unparalleled imo love it when she screams too <3
7: one way in which I relate to this character: hmmm idk we dont have much in common . we both love max
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: nothing she's perfect
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?: ignore all the ppl she's killed they deserved it. cinnamon roll
robin <333
1: sexuality headcanon: that's a genuine canonical lesbian!!! I do think she's a bit demisexual tho like she'll hang out with a girl for months maybe even years and then suddenly go oh. wait. this is a crush. and promptly freak out about it lol . I think robin is also a bit gender weird! definitely gets more gender nonconforming as time goes on, my baby butch <3
2: otp: robin and vickie <3 that's my endgame couple right there! ive seen a lot of fanon ships for her and some are more intriguing than others for me. buckingham is cute!
3: brotp: hmmm im not sure....lmao obviously stobin they're platonically married and share a mind . I know if nobody got me stobin do . I did really like that she got a friendship with Nancy started tho I dont think they'll ever be Super close. in the Lucas tie in novel she had some really nice interactions with Lucas that made me all <333 I also think she's close with erica!!!
4: notp: any romantic ship with a man. ronance..they just do not seem compatible to me <3
5: first headcanon that pops into my head: she's a vegetarian, her parents are too! she has eaten meat a few times, and her mom used to try and make it to fit in with small town America but it was never very good. the last time she ate something with meat in it was when Steve made them some pasta that had like anchovies in it and he nearly knocked her fork out of her hand (he cares more about her sticking to her vegetarian diet than her lmao)
6: favorite line from this character: ohhh her ears are little geniuses...my genius baby <3 also the whole bathroom coming out scene was perfect I literally would not change a single thing about it
7: one way in which I relate to this character: we are both soooo gay
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: ahhhmm idk I think she's perfect <3 kinda cringe to encourage her bestie to get with a girl in a relationship tho :/
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?: cinnamon roll <33

Yes to all of this
And, as an aromantic romance writer and reader and ace smut reader (tho in a very specfic way), yeah these stereotypes fucking SUCKS.
So what if I consume this content? It's for my entertainment. Other than that, just because I am aro, doesn't mean I don't like seeing cute happy and healthy romantic couples because that is adorable and refreshing. And the smut just usually comes with the romance, sometimes I skip, sometimes I don't.
I also really like writing romance because of the development of a relationship--especially slow burns because it shows going from friendship (or even enemies to friends) to eventually being romantically involved.
But does this mean I am any less aro or ace? No.
Romantic content of something that's meant to entertain is for everyone to enjoy whether or not they feel it. It's like telling a lesbian or a gay man to not ship the straight ship they enjoy, or telling a straight ally to not ship the queer ship they enjoy.
It's a spectrum. Kinda like a color palette. Some shades look similar on the surface but if you look closely they're different shades. But they're still the same color.
Get rid of the aphobia.
Happy pride :)
Pride Month and The Aphobic Stereotypes
With Pride Month being here we will unfortunately see a lot of aphobia. The usual:
'you just haven't found the right one'
'are you x because you have suffered?'
'sex/romance is everything!'
'you're like an innocent child'
'you're a monster for not feeling (romantic) love'
'how can you write/draw smut or enjoy smut art if you're asexual?'
'how can you write/draw romance or enjoy romance art if you're aromantic?'
'you're going to die alone/be miserable without a partner!'
'that person can't be your friend; must be your lover/crush'
No aphobia allowed. Asexuality and aromanticism is a spectrum. We're not all the same. I'm a sex-repulsed and romance-repulsed aro/ace. If you want to learn more research and kindly ask around. So Happy Pride Month to Aromantics, Asexuals, and Aroaces!

Favourite Trixie Collins headcanon GO
I think both of the romantic "relationships" with the men she has in the series feels very comphet (ah yes my handsome boss that every girl is pining after. logical choice to have a crush on.) and that after booster leaves and dirk is gone she can discover herself romantically a bit more. I think shes either a lesbian or aromantic. lesbian because michelle and also her very gay interactions with any other women she has talked to throughout the series. but also I think aro trixie would be really fun
I think a couple years after the events of the og booster gold series, she and booster run into each other somewhere and rekindle their old friendship. its different now because at that point booster is full on pining for ted and trixie is content in being a lesbian (they're quiet about it, considering the era, but eventually they feel they can be open with each other) I think they can be besties
after michelle's funeral, when trixie learns what led to her death (or as much as they know) she cant help but feel guilty about it. it was her who worn it originally, her who first showed michelle what flying felt like. michelle stole the costume, though it's not like trixie wouldve missed it, from her and she died in it. at that point, michelle's grave wasn't anywhere on that earth, but trixie could still confess her sins along the clifftop that the funeral was. beg for forgiveness from unapologetic winds. tear herself apart with the guilt.
I think if at one point before michelle left to travel america, she got bored because booster wasn't there and she didn't know much about that century or the people to do anything. but booster's secretary was there so she decided to chat and she was really nice, and trixie discovers just how beautiful booster's sister is and they get to know each other more. I think they can kiss experimentally a bit. it awakens something in trixie.
#i was going to fall asleep and answer this in the morning#but then i couldnt stop thinking about trixie so here you go 👍#i just reslized you said headcanon singular#well. 4 for 1 deal

Queer history in Norway
I'm mostly going to be translating one wiki, but this will be a quick overview over queer history in Norway. Mainly to motivate myself to read it, but ask for clarification if I phrase things weirdly. This is pretty much an uncritical translation, I'll probably look further into a couple of these things.
Summary:
while being gay wasn't favored, there were no homophobic laws before christianity came (1170). Over the years one could become an outlaw or be burned at the stake for gay sex. You weren't always punished though, because they didn't want to talk about it. In 1781 there was a marriage between two people who were afab, one who lived as a man, possibly trans (possibly bigender). In 1814 Norwegians got our constitution.
In the 1900's there were "romantic friendships" and "peppermø" (ace/unmarried) culture. World world two happened. In 1972 being gay was no longer criminalized. From 1948 there were a couple queer organizations, who in the end turned into the one known as Fri - organisasjonen for kjønns- og seksualitetsmangfold (Free - the organization for gender/sex and sexuality diversity). It became illigal to discrimiate against gay people in 1981. In 1993 gay people could become partnered, but not adopt nor marry in the church. In 2008 gay people could marry.
Since 2010 no "perversions" have been recognized as mental illnesses (homosexuality from before, fetishes, sadomasochism, transvestism etc.). Since 2012 you haven't been able to send gay asylum seekers back to homophobic countries. 2022 was queer culture year (skeivt kulturår). A ban on conversion therapy is in the works, it's only not out-right supported by KRF (who want to make it more difficult to transition) and FRP (who appear not to care either way). A third gender is going to be introduced legally.
translation note:
I don't know all the nuances of slang for sex, especially not historically, so I'm calling anything that seems like it could be sex sex, I'm including the words so you can do your own research, some may mean getting romantically involved I have no idea. Another thing is that sometimes things are about any non heterosexual orientation (e.g. bisexual, asexual) and the original text just says gay (homofile), then I'll just say gay, it is known as an umbrella term, so maybe it works, idk. Some things may also apply to trans people, but they're rarely mentioned.
Lokal Historie Wiki: Skeiv Historie (queer history from a wiki):
The first time homosexuality is mentioned in history is before christianity came here. Gay men were called feminine and bitches, which was very derogatory. Society seemed to be against them, but we don't know of homophobic laws.
When christianity came laws against homosexuality were made, in year 1170. It was inexcusable, one became an outlaw for having gay sex. ("Um to karmenn blandar seg med kvarandre").
In 1687 with Christian Vs norske lov (norwegian law) you could be burned at the stake for anal sex (sodomy). Not many were punished like that because people didn't want to talk about it in case it inspired more gay sex.
in 1781 a trans guy and a (cis) woman got married. Labels were different, but if he lived like a guy I'll call him a guy.
In the 1800's there were more words for gay "tvitotling", "tvetulle" (two tools), which has been used for intersex (tvekjønna) animals was used to describe people who trancended gender/ broke gender/sex norms (kjønnsoverskridende). Another word was "båing" (both), used about gay men and lesbian women. There are some signs of society not being exclusively negative towards queerness.
In 1814 we got "one of the most progressive constitutions in the world". Also, a university student had to quit his studies and leave the city after being outed as gay, but not legally punished. And people were aware of the Greek society being more accepting of homosexuality/sexuality.
In 1842 Christian Vs norske lov (norwegian law) was superseded by community service or prison time. Having gay sex (incl. lesbian) was called "against nature" ("omgjengelse mot naturen") and still punished. In 1846 three girls were punished for having lesbian sex, one with 1,5 years of community service and two with 15 days of prison with only bread and water. In 1847 they were found not guilty. In 1854 they were convicted for outrageous behavior ("forargerlig oppførsel") instead of unnatural sex.
(1886). Gay men on the other hand had to leave their university and got a lot of drama when people learned they were gay. New term: "kontrærseksualitet" (contrary/deviant sexuality). The idea of "sexual perversion" entered the psychiatry. The "I was born this way"-argument (født sånn-argumentet) got introduced. People thought kinks, fetishes and being gay was caused by masturbation, mental illness or negative external impulses (unsure what the last one means). And people still thought it was contagious.
In 1902 (straffeloven) being gay was further criminalized. Paragraph 213 banned "utugtig omgjøngelse" (lewd/undisiplined sex) between men. Gay men were basically told to be discreet as the law was to be put in to action when it was of concern to the general public (allmenheten). It was completely legal to discriminate towards gay men on the job and hosing markets because being gay was illigal.
Several women in the 1900's lived together in what was called "romantic friendships". Some of these may be percieved as platonic and not everyone in them called themselves lesbians. "peppermø" (literal: pepper maiden) was an unmarried woman over 30 and they were of many orientations, especially many who today probably would have called themselves asexual. They were a community or culture that broke with the heteronormative/heteroamatonormative society, because women were according to norms supposed to get married as early as possible.
1924: Alf Martin Jæger wrote gay fiction, homosexual (homoseksuell) was used for the first time in fiction. 1932: The doctors Karl Evang and Torgeir Kasa wrote an article saying people were born gay and deserved human rights (which was radical at the time). In 1937 a lesbian identity was described in "Følelsers forvirring" (feeling's confusion/the confusion of emotions) by Borghild Krane, and she talked about a demand of marriage for security.
WWII came. The nazis sent gay people to consentration camps with a pink triangle, which has later in time become an important symbol of gay people's struggle and gay visibility as a minority. The Norwegian nazi party (Nasjonal Samling) wanted to make paragraph 213 stricter but didn't succeed. People in gay relationships with Germans could be punished by German (Nazi) law.
In 1949 we got the first gay organization, a local branch of the Danish Forbundet av 1948 (Organization of), but it only lasted half a year. In 1950 Det Norske forbundet av 1948, DNT-48 (The Norwegian Organization of) with Rolf Løvaas as its leader. It became independent from the Danish Forbund av 1948 in 1963. They fought against the paragraph 213 (straffeloven § 213), but also for informing people and solidarity amongst gay people.
In 1961 the first Norwegian trans man (Aker sykehus) and in 1962 the first Norwegian trans woman (Rikshospitalet) got a gender affermative operation.
In 1965 the first gay radio program aired (on NRK). The Norwegian [university] Student's orgnization discussed gay people's situation. And in 1966 FTPN, a trans rights organization, was established, it became independent in 2000 and changed name in 2014 (FTPN still).
In 1972 paragraph 213 was repealed. Kim Friele was at the forefront of this (she died in 2021).
In 1975 Lesbisk Bevegelse (Lesbian movement) was founded. Since DNT-48 had a strong focus on gay men people wanted a lesbian, feminist organization.
In 1966 Åpen kirkegruppe was founded to fight for gay christians. In 1976 Arbeidsgrupper for homofil frigjøring, AHF (working groups for gay liberation) came.
In 1977 being gay was no longer a mental illness according to Norsk Psykiatrisk Forening. In 1982 the state, sosialdepartementet also removed homosexuality as a diagnosis.
There was some in-fighting, so in 1979, to unite everyone Fellesrådet for homofile og lesbiske organisasjoner i Norge, FHO (the common/joint council for gay and lesbian organizations in Norway) was made.
In 1981 paragraph 135a and 394a gave protection for gay people. These paragraphs, though most known as the racism paragraphs (rasismeparagrafene), protect from discrimination based on sexual orientation. They protect from discrimination in employment and housing. Later gay people came the work environment law (arbeidsmiljøloven) in 1998 and 2005.
In 1983 Helseutvalget for homofile (the health committee for homosexuals) was founded. The HIV-epidemic had come, and it affected gay men especially, though it did affect other people as I'm sure everyone knows. It increased stigmatisation, people were calling it "a punishment from God" (protestant christian). In 1987 came Landsforening mot AIDS, LMA (country wide). Kirkens bymisjon (christian organization, does a lot of good stuff) opened Aksept (accept) the first center for HIV-positive people and those sick with AIDS. In 1988 AIDS or HIV was not a valid reason for firing someone. The same year Pluss (plus) was founded for those with HIV. In 1999 LMA and Pluss became one, eventually turning into HivNorge (who, in addition to their HIV stuff, today support a couple of queer organizations)
In 1992 Landsforeningen for lesbiske og homofile (The National Association for Lesbians and Homosexuals) was made from the combination of DNF-48 and Fellesrådet for homofile. Later they expanded their name to add bisexuals and trans people. Since 2016 they've been called Fri - foreningen for kjønns- og seksualitetsmangfold (Free - the organization for gender/sex and sexuality diversity).
In 1993 the partnership law was passed. It let lesbian and homosexual couples have mostly the same rights as heterosexuals through marriage. But they could not adopt nor get married in the church. With religious freedom in mind they didn't instruct the church to change their way. In 2008 a new marriage law came, which made gay (incl. lesbian) people allowed to marry.
Skeiv ungdom was founded in 2004. Skeivsnuen anselag was founded in 2006 as a continuation of Drangeleik (danish, boy game). Oslo fagottkor (fagott isn't a slur in Norwegian, but it's based on the english) was founded in 2004.
In 2010 no "perversions" were any longer recognized as mental illnesses (homosexuality from before, fetishes, sadomasochism). Since 2012 you haven't been able to send gay asylum seekers back to homophobic countries. A ban on conversion therapy is in the works, it's only not out-right supported by KRF (who want to make it more difficult to transition) and FRP (who appear not to care either way). A third gender has been introduced legally.
In 2008 the state made an action plan titled "better life quality for lesbians, gats, bisexuals and trans people". Then the LGBT (LHBT) center was made in 2011 as a knoweledge center from sexual orientation and gender identity. In 2015 Skeivt arkiv (queer archive) was opened. They belong to the University in Bergen (UiB).
2022 was queer culture year (skeivt kulturår). The pride of 2022 there was a shooting at a gay bar in Oslo and Oslo Pride was cancelled.

People seriously want to argue misandry doesn't exist (or that it's not harmful and simply "irritating") meanwhile Miss Robin Buckley whom I love with my whole heart gets to live her truth as a canon lesbian (who likes boobies, as Steve made very clear) meanwhile Will Byers' sexuality is just "up for interpretation." I understand that the actors probably just have to say that because they're not allowed to spoil anything, but just don't talk. Please just don't talk.
Let queer characters be queer. Gay people should be allowed to exist in television or anywhere beyond a shadow of any doubt that they are who they are. And leaving a very obviously queer-coded character's sexual orientation/gender identity "up for audience interpretation" and acting like that's somehow beautiful and progressive is one of the most privileged, allocishet things I've ever heard in my life.
The problem with this whole "they can be whatever you want them to be" mindset is that it will always do more harm than good, no matter how well-meaning the intent. For example, you see an advertisement in a store window of two women hugging and laughing in a way that makes them seem like partners. When asked whether or not it was intended for them to give off couple vibes, the question is often met with some empty phrase about how they can be whomever and whatever you want them to be and it's up for each individual person to interpret however they choose. This may seem beautiful to an allocishet individual, but to a person who is part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, it feels like a slap in the face.
When something is not presented as blatantly, canonically, specifically queer, non-queer people will not view them that way and instead continue on with their lives believing the look between those two women in that poster was one of friendship, not romantic love, and whether subconsciously or not they get to continue on with their lives allowing themselves to view queer relationships, different gender identities, etc. as something out of the ordinary or not normal, something to be ogled at like animals in a zoo. Meanwhile, queer people who point out obvious queer-coding are told to stop twisting things to fit their agenda, that they should not be forcing representation where it doesn't belong, that not everything needs to be gay and the world doesn't revolve around them, simply because they are excited to see something that they feel represents them and their sexual/romantic orientation or gender identity.
All because of two women in a poster. Chapters Indigo.
All because of a man telling his sister he doesn't need a girlfriend as his hand lingers on his friend's longer than necessary. Legend.
All because of a boy revealing himself to be a sea monster to save his friend from a town of bigoted people who want to k/ll him. Luca.
All because of a young woman greeting her childhood rival in a particularly flirtatious manner. Raya and the Last Dragon.
All because of a boy studying his friend's face with wonder in his eyes after that friend made up a breathtaking poem on the spot. Dead Poets Society.
All because of a boy who's spent all the time we've seen of him being referred to by multiple different homophobic slurs and commenting to his best friend about how it can be hard to tell people you're close to secrets about yourself. Stranger Things.
And, when the queer people turn out to be right, that the characters were intended to be queer all along? We're met with, "Well, it's not really an important detail," "It doesn't matter," "So what," or, "I don't care."
How is that progressive?
Make it gay, you goddamn cowards. Queerbaiting is more harmful than a few extra one-star ratings. And, for the love of whatever is holy, check your privilege and DO something about it. Please.
Sincerely,
a queer Stranger Things fan <3

I see this very often and I wanted to point out how in non-canon but obvious queer ships there are people straight up denying the fact that their relationship leans more towards a romantic rather than a platonic aspect, but as soon as it's hetero, everyone rushes to sexualise it like it's their life's purpose (obv exaggerating)
I noticed this a lot in arcane, more specifically with two ships, jayvik and timebomb (aka ekkojinx)
Even though timebomb (an f/m ship) becomes canon, if you genderswapped one of the two people, even if they did kiss, as they did in canon, many people would say they didn't ship it because "it's out of place" and "I don't like those two characters together" which, yes, sometimes may be the case, but other times you're just being weird about it.
Jayvik, on the other hand, has two views going on currently. One is that their relationship can be better described as platonic, and the other one is the jayvik shippers.
(Disclaimer: I'm trying to be as objective as possible here, and yes, I am aware of the executives' opinion on the topic)
Jayvik never becomes canon, which leads to the fandom having more room for debate on the ship. A romantic relationship between them is more of an allegation (based on pretty solid evidence, though), and while it's completely reasonable to not like the ship, it's pretty obvious that they're, for a lack of a better word, gay for each other. If they were a heterosexual couple, not only would it probably be canon (the people will rush to sexualise a friendship) but also if it never became canon, the fandom would go wild, but not in a good way (because nobody would believe that "brotherhood" bs). (As a friend pointed out: "Dude, it's not illegal, someone taught me how to do it in prison")
Also, Arcane is based off of LoL, whose fanbase is such that would probably go crazy over two dudes holding hands in public but is okay with the two lesbians in the show apparently?? (Talking about the majority here, obviously not trying to say that all LoL players are such)
In this essay I will-
Heteronormativity is a disease btw
