Marcus met Vincent two years after moving to DC.
He’d stayed single that whole time and took the time to heal from Teresa and his own mistakes in Texas. He knew now that trying to jump into a relationship was just a deflection from his own insecurities. Growing up with a Latina mother and a hard ass for a father set it in his mind that he had to be married with kids by a certain age.
When that didn’t happen, he started to panic and latched onto someone he realized he didn’t even really like all that much. Thankfully, his parents gave him the space he needed to figure things out and left him alone.
Vincent was a patron of a bar Marcus found himself frequenting after work. He wasn’t sure what Vincent did for work at first, but he was always there late. It made sense for Marcus to be there late, given his new position. He wasn’t sure who started talking to who first, but he does remember feeling… light.
Vincent had a warmth to him that Marcus was sorely lacking in his life. They’d meet twice a week and just talk.
Turns out, Vincent was a history professor at Georgetown University. He was… offensively handsome, with shoulder-length dreadlocks and smooth, dark skin. He wore wire-rimmed glasses and dressed sharply. Marcus found himself going lightheaded whenever the scent of Vincent’s cologne hit his nostrils. Vanilla and coconut, with a hint of something tangy.
Marcus could listen to Vincent talk about pretty much anything, his voice low, measured, and a little quiet. He wasn’t sure how any of Vincent’s students got anything done.
Marcus was always pretty straightforward about his desires, so during one of those conversations he asked Vincent out. Vincent graced Marcus with a pearly white smile and a shy chuckle. “I’d love to,” he breathed.
That was a few weeks ago now, and they’d just made their way back to Marcus’ apartment after their third date.
“Vin,” Marcus moaned, tangling his fingers through the thick ropes of Vincent’s hair and gripping tightly.
Vincent had him pinned to his couch in the living room, their hips rolling against each other. Vincent’s plump lips were latched onto Marcus’ neck, sucking and nipping languidly. Marcus loved kissing Vincent. It always left him breathless and felt like it was an event in and of itself. There was no rush to do anything, no pressure to continue to another “step”.
“N-not too high,” he gasped, his cock twitching in his slacks. Vincent chuckled and released Marcus’ neck to give him a look that said ‘I know what I’m doing’. Marcus blushed high on his cheeks and shrugged a little. “I have a meeting in the morning, you know?”
“I’m offended,” Vincent scoffed, playfully rolling his eyes. “Thinking I’d jeopardize your professionalism like that.” He reached up to take off his glasses and set them down on the coffee table next to them.
Marcus blinked, then laughed lightly, his eyes crinkling in the corners. “Get back over here, you,” he smiled, patting Vincent’s bearded cheek.
When their lips touched this time, they fully melted into it. Marcus rolled his hips up against Vincent’s, wrapping his legs around his waist. Vincent made a low noise in his chest and kissed along Marcus’ jaw to the side of his neck he hadn’t touched yet.
Vincent left tender, wet kisses down the thick muscle, then blew softly against the sensitive skin. Marcus shivered and moaned weakly as his cock jumped in his pants again. He was harder than he ever had been in his life and was worried he’d make a fool of himself soon.
Vincent sat up on his knees a little and started unbuttoning Marcus’ dress shirt enough to move it and expose Marcus’ shoulder. He hummed in satisfaction when he saw the blush on Marcus’ cheeks went all the way down to his chest behind the white tank he was wearing underneath.
Marcus made a weak sound when Vincent’s lips latched onto his neck again, this time lower and closer to where his shoulder started. “Vin,” he gasped, gripping onto Vincent’s broad shoulders and digging his nails in.
“Yes?” Vincent smiled, voice muffled before he went back to lazily sucking and kissing Marcus’ skin.
“I’m–” Marcus groaned, his hips rolling erratically. He was almost certain he was going to come if Vincent didn’t slow down.
“You okay?” Vincent chuckled, releasing Marcus’ neck to look at him closely. Marcus was flushed red with big, wet eyes. He nodded and bit his lip, not making eye contact with Vincent. “Hey, what’s wrong?” Vincent frowned.
“It’s nothing, I just… Just give me a minute?” He huffed sheepishly.
Vincent blinked and looked down between Marcus’ legs. He smirked when he saw the twitching bulge beyond the fabric of Marcus’ slacks. “Oh, baby,” Vincent grinned, rolling his own hard length against him teasingly.
“V-Vin, please, I’m–”
“I want you to. Please?” Vincent cupped Marcus’ face in one large hand, his thumb rubbing against his cheekbone tenderly.
Marcus couldn’t remember the last time he felt so exposed and also so safe. He knew Vincent wouldn’t judge him or tease him too harshly about coming in his pants like a teenager after some heavy kissing.
He let out a deep breath and smiled shyly up at his handsome history professor. “Kiss me again?”
“Happily,” Vincent hummed, shutting his eyes gently as their lips connected again.
They rocked together jerkily, the sounds of their heavy breathing and the creaking from Marcus’ hand-me-down couch filling the room. Vincent held Marcus close to his broad chest, strong arms enveloping him.
While Vincent took his time kissing and making Marcus feel like he was floating on air, apparently he was very different once he had a goal in mind. Marcus was making sounds he never thought he could make, the heat at the base of his spine overwhelming him.
Vincent’s hips moved in a slow, steady rhythm, making Marcus’ heart pound and blood rush in his ears. “I’m– I think I’m gonna come, Vin,” he gasped, thighs trembling on either side of Vincent’s hips.
“C’mon, baby,” Vincent grinned, mouth latching onto Marcus’ neck again to push him over the edge.
“Oh, fuck,” Marcus whined, furrowing his brow in concentration. “Fuck!” He gasped as his cock twitched heavily in his pants, coming hard. He moaned as each wave wracked through his body, leaving him breathless.
Vincent hummed in satisfaction and rolled his hips with Marcus, prolonging everything just a little more for him. “Beautiful,” he whispered reverently. He sat up, looking down at Marcus’ spent body and the large wet spot at the front of his slacks. He chuckled at the sight, his own cock twitching in his jeans.
Marcus panted hard, coming down from his peak slowly. He gradually came back to Earth and blushed again when he saw Vincent’s warm brown eyes looking at him. “Stop,” he chuckled. “No one’s made me do that since Ashley in the 7th grade.”
Vincent smirked, chest puffing up in pride. “Well, consider me honored to be among such a prestigious group.”
Marcus rolled his eyes and gently pushed Vincent’s shoulder. “Your turn.” He crawled into Vincent’s lap, wrapping his arms around the other man’s neck. He undid Vincent’s jeans and held his thick cock in his hand through the thin material of his briefs.
When Vincent moaned and bucked his hips, Marcus felt a rush of excitement down his spine.
“S-shouldn’t be long,” Vincent chuckled, his cock throbbing in Marcus’ strong hand. Marcus hummed happily and latched his own mouth onto Vincent’s neck.
With Vincent’s cock now exposed, Marcus stroked him slowly, teasing the head with his thumb. Vincent breathed heavily, the heat from his cheeks and neck warming Marcus’ lips. Marcus pumped him gradually before he removed his hand to spit into his palm, and returned to his previous rhythm.
Vincent moaned and shivered at the wetness along his length, lips parted obscenely as he watched Marcus’ hand.
Marcus sucked hard against Vincent’s neck, nibbling on the thick muscle teasingly. “C’mon,” he encouraged, kissing up his neck to latch onto Vincent’s earlobe. He moaned around the earring there and sped up the fist between Vincent’s thighs.
“Shit,” Vincent breathed, nodding toward his cock. “M-Marcus, baby, I’m–” He smiled, resting his head on the back of the couch as he watched Marcus’ face.
Marcus blushed again and kissed him deeply as Vincent tensed, coming hard all over Marcus’ hand. He groaned into his mouth, hips bucking jerkily with his release. He giggled in the aftershocks, the dopamine rushing through his system as he held Marcus’ face in his hands.
Marcus’ heart pounded in his chest as they kissed languidly, both of them coming down from the moment.
They stayed like that for a while until they finally had to part to breathe. “We should do that again sometime,” Vincent flirted, nudging Marcus’ chin with the knuckle of his index finger.
Marcus laughed, cheeks warm and chest light. He couldn’t agree more.

Despite being more flavorful and versatile, chicken thighs remain far behind breast meat in popularity, at least within the US. Here at Serious Eats, though, we recommend chicken thighs for all sorts of preparations: braising, stewing, baking, frying, skewering/grilling. An abundance of connective tissue makes them both flavorful and forgiving of longer cooking times, unlike breast, which tends to dry out quickly.
To me, all that makes thighs the perfect cut for a relaxed night of cooking, one in which I don't have to watch the pan like a hawk to get good results. Here are 21 recipes, from one-pan braised dinners of chicken thighs and vegetables to Bengali rice porridge and grilled paella, to convince you of the glories of dark meat.
Grilled Chicken Skewers
Tumblr media
Crispy Caramel Chicken Skewers
Morgan Eisenberg
Chicken thighs' higher fat content helps them retain more moisture than breast. That means thigh meat is practically a must for grilled skewers, as the intense heat of the grill would quickly overcook and dry out breast. Inspired by Vietnamese gà kho, these skewers get ample flavor from a sweet-and-savory glaze (incorporating both brown sugar and honey as a stand-in for the more traditional rock sugar) that caramelizes into a crispy coating on the grill. Rolling the skewers in a final layer of sesame seeds and sliced almonds gives them plenty of crunch. You can grill these (or any of the other skewers below) on the grate using a two-zone fire, as we've recommended in the past, or try our new and improved skewer-grilling setup to bring the meat closer to the coals and increase your chances of tender, juicy results.
Sweet-and-Sour Grilled Chicken Skewers (Yakitori Nanbansu)
Vicky Wasik
The nanbansu in the name is a simple mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and mirin, and it can be used as a sauce, dip, and/or marinade. Again, use chicken thighs here to ensure the yakitori come off the grill moist and tender. The meat picks up lots of flavor from an overnight marinade in the nanbansu, which we also serve alongside the skewers for dipping; a little optional shichimi togarashi will add a mild heat, if you want it.
Japanese Chicken Skewers With Scallion (Negima Yakitori)
J. Kenji López-Alt
Once you have a batch of homemade teriyaki sauce on hand, this recipe could hardly be easier. The teriyaki sauce gives the skewers a sweet-and-savory profile, while the grilled scallions' crunch helps balance the juiciness of the chicken thigh. As with any skewer recipe, thread the pieces fairly close together on each skewer to help them retain moisture—and, of course, don't skimp on the sauce.
Thai-Style Chicken Satay With Peanut-Tamarind Sauce
J. Kenji López-Alt
There are many good reasons to own a mortar and pestle, but my personal favorite may be that it affords you the opportunity to just bash a lot of things into tiny pieces. You'll get to do plenty of that for this Thai-style chicken satay, which starts with a powerful aromatic paste featuring lemongrass, turmeric, garlic, ginger, and toasted coriander and white pepper. We combine the paste with coconut milk and fish sauce to form a marinade for small pieces of chicken thigh meat before they're skewered and grilled. The tart-sweet flavor of tamarind in the accompanying peanut dipping sauce makes it a perfect complement to the skewers' smoky char.
Grilled Tarragon-Mustard Chicken Skewers
Morgan Eisenberg
Lemon and mustard are both powerful acids, which help to tenderize chicken, and they work so quickly that their flavors can penetrate the meat in just an hour of marination time. The sweetness of honey and acidity of the lemon juice and mustard help balance out the strong anise-y flavor of tarragon here. This quick recipe is a good argument all on its own for introducing more weeknight grilling into your life.
Main Dishes
Easy Pressure Cooker Green Chili With Chicken
Tumblr media
J. Kenji López-Alt
Chicken thighs take well to braising and other moist cooking methods, such as in this chile verde, which also gets a flavor boost from using dark meat. Plus, with the power of a pressure cooker at your disposal, you'll achieve results in 30 minutes that would normally take hours on the stovetop. A combination of tomatillos, Poblano peppers, Anaheims, and serranos yields a complexly flavored sauce, and a small amount of fish sauce gives the chili an extra hit of umami once it's finished.
Crispy Braised Chicken Thighs With Cabbage and Bacon
J. Kenji López-Alt
Cabbage and pork are a classic combination, and in this easy, hearty one-pan braise, we pair both with chicken thighs to great effect. By cooking the chicken thighs and bacon directly on top of a bed of shredded cabbage, we ensure the vegetables absorb flavor from both meats. The clincher? The whole dish takes just over an hour, start to finish.
Grilled Chicken and Pork Paella
Vicky Wasik
The key to nailing a proper paella is browning every single ingredient very well before adding any liquid. Since the chicken is going to be first browned and then cooked in stock and puréed tomatoes, it needs to be able to hold up to an extended cooking time, which means thigh meat is what you want here. For a party-sized paella like this one, emulate traditional methods and make it outside on the grill—it's the best way to ensure such a large volume heats evenly. If you're not a paella purist, check out our paella mixta, too, which incorporates both chicken leg meat and seafood.
Kimchi-Brined Fried Chicken Sandwich
Vicky Wasik
Fans of Kenji's five-ingredient pickle-brined fried chicken sandwich, or any fried chicken sandwich, won't want to miss out on this twist. We marinate chicken thighs in a mixture of kimchi brine, buttermilk, and gochugaru (Korean red chili flakes) before dredging and frying, then top the fried chicken with chopped kimchi and kimchi-infused mayo. (For extra credit, try serving it on Stella's flaky Black Sesame Buttermilk Biscuits.) Safe to say, I'll be dreaming about this sandwich for a few months at least.
Vietnamese-Style Baked Chicken
Emily and Matt Clifton
Another easy weeknight dinner, this one-pan recipe for baked chicken thighs relies heavily on a flavorful marinade full of Vietnamese flavors—bright, umami, and just a little spicy. It's certainly worth the few items you'll have to add to your grocery list. Here's a tip: Make sure you prepare your rice (because you're going to need plenty of rice on the side!) while the chicken is marinating.
Oyakodon (Japanese Chicken and Egg Rice Bowl)
J. Kenji López-Alt
Oyakodon, a rice bowl topped with simmered chicken and softly cooked eggs, is pure Japanese comfort food, and easy to make at home. The extra egg yolk on top is optional, but we love any chance to pop open a golden yolk, swirling it around and around in the bowl so its richness gets into every corner.
Chicken Scarpariello (Braised Chicken With Sausage and Peppers)
J. Kenji López-Alt
Chicken scarpariello is an old Italian-American standby of braised chicken thighs, sausage, and peppers in a punchy sweet-and-sour sauce, and it's simple enough to make any night of the week. Achieving the most possible flavor in the sauce depends heavily on the drippings from the chicken, so it's best to use bone-in, skin-on thighs. We sear those thighs until they're deeply browned before adding them to a pan with sautéed garlic, onion, and bell pepper; browned sausage; and pickled cherry peppers along with their liquid, before popping it all in the oven to braise.
One-Pan Chicken, Sausage, and Brussels Sprouts
Emily and Matt Clifton
It's hard to think of a culinary image makeover that's been more dramatic than that of Brussels sprouts—the days of their reputation as mushy, sulfur-scented lumps are over. That's thanks in large part to the realization that intensely high heat is the key to getting them crisp, nutty-sweet, and delicious. This recipe roasts halved Brussels sprouts, sliced sausage, and bone-in chicken thighs all in one pan, where (just as in some of the previous recipes) the meat gets tender and well browned, and the sprouts' flavor benefits from mingling with all those juices.
Creole-Style Red Jambalaya With Chicken, Sausage, and Shrimp
Tumblr media
Vicky Wasik
Building layers of flavor in a jambalaya is just as important as it is for a soup. In this recipe, the chicken and sausage join forces to flavor the stock. Once the chicken has been browned, it goes into the oven along with the rice, aromatics, and braising liquid—cooking in the oven is our secret to avoiding burnt rice and the need for frequent stirring—so the forgiving nature of chicken thighs is a must here.
Chicken Massaman Curry With Wheat Beer and Potatoes
Emily and Matt Clifton
If you're put off by overly spicy curries that leave you in tears, give massaman curry a whirl—a product of Middle Eastern migration to Southeast Asia, it uses milder spices that build warmth and aroma rather than fire. Boneless and skinless thighs work fine here, especially since they're easily cut into small pieces. We simmer them, along with potatoes, in a coconut milk– and chicken stock–based sauce, plus a surprise ingredient—Belgian-style wheat beer.
Coconut- and Ají Amarillo–Braised Chicken
Vicky Wasik
While you can technically highlight any chili pepper of your choosing for these braised chicken thighs, the recipe is especially well suited to ají amarillo, a bright and fruity orange pepper that's native to Peru. The mellow, sweet coconut milk takes on the golden color of the ají amarillo quite nicely, making this dish perfect for a day when you'd like a little more sun.
Grilled Tandoori Chicken Patties With Jalapeño-Mint Yogurt Sauce
Morgan Eisenberg
Blending the ground chicken here with a yogurt marinade, along with the thigh meat's natural ability to retain moisture, helps ensure these patties come out juicy after grilling. An array of spices creates a warm, Indian-inspired profile, balanced out by the cooling jalapeño-mint yogurt sauce dolloped on top. Serve these on toasted flatbread for an easy, handheld summer dinner.
Broiled Tandoori-Style Chicken With Almonds and Couscous
Vicky Wasik
Broiling is another high-heat cooking method in which chicken thighs can shine—a broiler may not be as powerful as a tandoor, but it's about as close as you're going to get with standard indoor home equipment. We tenderize the chicken in a mix of yogurt and spices, then broil it, along with the marinade, in a skillet until it's nicely browned. The liquid from the skillet does double duty, adding flavor to a side dish of fluffy couscous.
Chicken Thighs With Saffron, Lemon, and Red Potatoes
Yasmin Fahr
Coming together in a single pan in just an hour, this recipe is great for whipping up on a Tuesday night after a tiring day of work. Searing the chicken thighs first delivers crispy skin and adds extra flavor to the braising liquid, while a pinch of saffron turns the dish delightfully golden and fragrant. After the sear, we add chicken stock, quartered red potatoes, saffron, lemon juice, and black peppercorns, then stick the skillet in the oven—that's it.
Korean-Style Fire Chicken (Buldak) With Cheese
Vicky Wasik
Using stronger-flavored dark-meat chicken in this hot, spicy, and gooey dish just makes sense—the chicken has a lot of other flavors to compete with, including fresh red chilies, gochugaru, gochujang (Korean chili paste), ginger, black pepper, and more. While the cheese broiled over the top might seem like gilding the lily, it's not true buldak without it. Crack open a beer, get ready to sweat, and embrace the overkill.
Bengali Rice Porridge With Lentils and Chicken
Vicky Wasik
This porridge is pure comfort food, perfect for those days when you feel a cold coming on or when it's gray and rainy out. Gently crushing some of the rice leaves smaller bits that dissolve into the turmeric- and ginger-scented porridge, making it nicely thick, and diced chicken thigh, potato, and red lentils turn it into a hearty, warming meal. But the best part, in my opinion, is the topping of crispy fried shallots, since I'm constantly looking for excuses to make more and sprinkle them over everything. That counts as meal prep, right?

This is a recipe I started making after I left South-Africa - Chicken Soup and Rice
Ingredients:
1 whole of each Green, Red, Yellow, and Orange Bell Peppers, cut into bite-sized pieces
If you have dietary restrictions feel free to veto the peppers you can't eat
1 half of/an entire purple onion, OR 1 entire shallot. Minced, set aside
Several cloves of garlic about an entire bulb, or several tablespoons of garlic. really just as much as your heart desires. Maybe a little more, who's gonna check you? minced preferably, but it doesn't really matter as long as it's in there.
1 bag of baby rainbow carrots (about 1 or 2 cups) if possible (genuinely any color is fine but the more colorful the ingredients the more your brain will be excited to eat it!), if you get the baby carrots you can just rinse and throw them in there, otherwise I suggest chopping them into small bite-sized pieces (or any preferred size really, and peeled if necessary)
no but literally any kind of carrots will do, they all taste the same, I prefer a bag of mixed carrots because they're nice. But whole carrots are perfectly fine.
1 full stalk of celery, chopped, and rinsed.
White rice. Of any kind, but I prefer jasmine. WASH YOUR RICE! There can be parasites in there and it also gets rid of the excess starch.
You'll want roughly 5lbs of your preffered potatoes. You can use any kind you want, well besides sweet potatoes, obviously. I prefer "baking/roasting potatoes" that come in red/purple-ish and are already small enough to rinse and chop into bite-sized pieces.
There should be enough that you can get some in every other bite but not too much.
Potatoes are optional as well
1 16 ounce can of crushed tomatoes
(Both cans of tomatoes can be substituted for the other if you're out of one)
1 16 ounce can of diced tomatoes
About 8 raw chicken breasts or 16 tenders
(this is optional though, you can make this whole recipe vegan)
1 can of tomato paste
(optional, but it thickens the broth)
34 ounces of broth, either vegetable or chicken broth. You can also use bone broth homemade broth, it really don't matter it'll taste good.
Garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, paprika, turmeric powder, and salt to taste.
You’ll be adding them at least twice in this recipe
Basically, you'll be adding a metric fuckton of these spices and herbs
a little pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg powder, ginger if you or anyone around is sick and/or it's sick season, not too much.
Any kind of regular cooking oil
A pinch or two of sugar…
a dash of Worcestershire sauce
! tablespoon of coconut aminos or half that amount of soy sauce
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350° (You can cook your chicken however you want really, this is just imo the best way when it comes to soup. But it's up to you)
Rinse the chicken thoroughly, pat dry with a paper towel.
Add the garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, paprika, turmeric powder, and salt to taste, if you're using ginger add it here to the chicken and then the oil followed by mixing the seasoning and covering it completely in the seasonings adding more if necessary. I prefer to marinate my chicken in the freezer if I can, or overnight but you don't have to!
Bake the chicken for about 25-30 or so minutes until the chicken is cooked (IF YOU SEE A LOT OF PINK IT ISN'T DONE COOK IT LONGER, if it's barely any at all then it's fine and if you're not sure which one it is just err on the safe side and cook it longer, but don't worry too much!) Set aside to cool a little. Shred or cube the chicken when you get the chance!
Chop and peel all the vegetables, place carrots, celery, potatoes (you don't need to peel them if you got the roasting potatoes btw) to the side.
Cook garlic in a large deep pan for about 30 seconds until fragrant and add onion and seasonings at around the same time. Cook while stirring until the onion is translucent.
Add peppers, fry until they're softened, stirring occasionally.
Once cooked add diced and crushed tomatoes and stir until incorporated.
Add it all into a big pot, along with the other vegetables, your chosen broth (And tomato paste if you're using it.)
Stir, add more seasoning and a small SMALL handful of sugar. Place a lid on top, stirring occasionally until potatoes are cooked, about 25 minutes give or take.
Rinse your rice by putting it in a sift or a large container, and rinse it until the water is pretty much clear (about two to four times give or take.)
Cook rice according to package directions but add the main seasonings before you top it with the lid as you cannot add them after, and removing the lid while cooking rice ruins it.
Add the cubed/shredded chicken.
Then just cook the soup until the potatoes are done, and fork smashable.
Remove from heat, serve over rice, LET IT COOL OFF FOR A BIT BECAUSE IT WILL BE BOILING HOT TRUST ME (or add one or two ice cubes ig lol), and enjoy!!
Also you can have this for breakfast and add a fried egg on top, it's so good, 12/10 best recipe ever

Introduction

Incorporating keto-friendly desserts into your meal plan offers several advantages beyond satisfying your sweet tooth. These desserts help curb cravings for sugary treats while keeping you in ketosis, making it easier to stick to your dietary goals. Additionally, they provide alternative options for individuals with dietary restrictions, such as those following gluten-free or diabetic-friendly diets.
Tips for Making Keto-Friendly Desserts
When making keto-friendly desserts at home, it's essential to choose ingredients wisely to ensure they fit within your carb limits. Opt for low-carb sweeteners like stevia, erythritol, or monk fruit instead of sugar. Incorporate high-fat ingredients such as coconut oil, avocado, or cream cheese to boost the fat content and keep you feeling satisfied.
Precautions and Considerations
While keto-friendly desserts can be a delicious addition to your meal plan, it's crucial to practice moderation and be mindful of portion sizes. Even though they're low in carbs, overconsumption of keto desserts can still lead to excess calorie intake, which may hinder weight loss efforts. Additionally, always check ingredient labels for hidden sugars and carbs, as some products marketed as "sugar-free" may still contain hidden sources of carbohydrates.
Where to Find Keto-Friendly Dessert Recipes
If you're looking for inspiration or new recipe ideas, there are plenty of resources available for finding keto-friendly dessert recipes. Online keto recipe blogs and websites offer a wealth of creative and delicious options, ranging from simple no-bake treats to elaborate baked goods. Additionally, many keto cookbooks and recipe collections feature dessert chapters filled with mouthwatering sweets to satisfy your cravings.
Experimenting with Flavor Variations
One of the joys of cooking and baking on a ketogenic diet is the opportunity to experiment with different flavor combinations and ingredients. Whether you prefer classic flavors like chocolate and vanilla or more adventurous combinations like matcha or lavender, there's no shortage of options to explore. Don't be afraid to get creative and add spices, extracts, or nuts to your desserts for added flavor and texture without the extra carbs.

Can baby bath care products be used on newborns, or should parents wait until a certain age?
In the tender embrace of parenthood, every decision is guided by an overwhelming desire to provide the best possible care for our little ones, especially when it comes to their delicate skin. As newborns enter the world, their skin is at its most fragile, requiring the utmost gentleness and care. Amidst the myriad choices available, parents often wonder: can baby bath care products be used on newborns, or should they wait until a certain age? In this guide, we explore this question in depth, shedding light on the importance of gentle skincare for newborns and how Root and Soil's natural baby products offer the perfect solution for nurturing their delicate skin from the very first moments of life.
Tumblr media
Understanding Newborn Skin
Newborn skin is a marvel of nature, soft, smooth, and exquisitely delicate. Unlike adult skin, which has had time to develop its protective barrier, newborn skin is thinner, more porous, and prone to dryness and irritation. The vernix caseosa, a waxy substance that coats the skin in utero, provides a temporary barrier against moisture loss and protects the skin from the harsh environment of the womb. However, once born, this protective layer begins to dissipate, leaving the skin vulnerable to external irritants and moisture loss.
Given the unique characteristics of newborn skin, it's natural for parents to wonder if baby bath care products are suitable for use from birth. While some products may be formulated specifically for newborns, others may contain ingredients that could be too harsh or irritating for their delicate skin. As such, parents need to exercise caution and opt for products that are gentle, natural, and free from potentially harmful ingredients.
Introducing Baby Bath Care Products
When it comes to introducing baby bath care products to newborns, the key is gentleness. While water alone is often sufficient for cleaning a newborn's delicate skin in the early days, there may come a time when parents wish to incorporate gentle cleansers and moisturizers into their baby's skincare routine. When choosing baby bath care products for newborns, it's essential to look for formulations that are specifically designed for their delicate skin and free from harsh chemicals, fragrances, and other potential irritants.
Root and Soil understands the unique needs of newborn skin and has crafted a range of natural baby products that are perfectly suited for use from birth. Their gentle baby wash, infused with soothing chamomile and oat extracts, provides a mild and nourishing cleanse without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Free from harsh chemicals and artificial fragrances, it offers parents peace of mind knowing they're using only the gentlest ingredients on their precious newborn's skin.
Similarly, Root and Soil's moisturizing baby lotion, enriched with shea butter and coconut oil, provides much-needed hydration and protection for newborn skin. Its lightweight, non-greasy formula absorbs quickly, leaving the skin feeling soft, smooth, and nourished. Whether used after bath time or for daily moisturizing, it offers a gentle and soothing experience for both baby and parent alike.
The Importance of Gentle Skincare
In the early days of life, when every touch is imbued with love and tenderness, gentle skincare is paramount. By choosing natural baby products that are specially formulated for newborn skin, parents can nurture and protect their little one's delicate skin from the very beginning. Root and Soil's commitment to purity and transparency ensures that parents can trust in the quality and safety of their products, allowing them to embrace bath time as a moment of connection and bonding with their newborn.
In Conclusion
Navigating the world of baby bath care can be overwhelming, especially for new parents. However, with Root and Soil's natural baby products, parents can rest assured knowing they're providing the gentlest care for their precious newborn's delicate skin. From their soothing baby wash to their moisturizing baby lotion, each product is thoughtfully crafted to nurture and protect, offering parents peace of mind and babies the love and care they deserve from the very first moments of life. With Root and Soil by their side, bath time becomes more than just a routine – it becomes a cherished opportunity for connection, love, and gentle beginnings.

Hey! i was wondering if you'd write a fluffy bucky x reader where they're at the party thing with sams family and after seeing Bucky with sams nephew's the reader suggests having kids of their own
bucky... with kids yes omg 🥺
Cake | B. Barnes
Bucky swiftly dodges AJ and Cass, successfully keeping the cake in his hand. You follow close behind, laughing as you high five the two boys.
“Staying out of trouble I hope?” You asked.
Both boys nod, “You know it!”
“I’ll pay you in cake if you tackle Uncle Sam,” You said, smirking.
“Done!” They chime, running towards Sam. They scream as they jump on him, Sam stumbling back as you come to a stand next to Bucky.
He raises an eyebrow at you. “How much did you bribe them?”
You shrug, “a few pieces of cake.”
“Barnes!” Sam shouts, once he escapes his nephew’s. He points at you. “You are so in for it!”
AJ and Cass laugh, running to the opposite end of the dock, where their mom waits for them.
Sam strolls over to you and you laugh, leaning in to hug him.
“Good to see you,” You said, pulling back and leaning on Bucky.
“I would say the same, but I’ve just been brutally attacked upon arrival.”
“Cake is cake.”
“Speaking of which.” Sam grabs the cake from Bucky’s hands, “What’s in it?”
“Coconut.”
Sam groans, “Oh, good man. You know me so well.”
Bucky takes off his sunglasses, winking. “You know it.”
“(Y/N), would you mind handing this to Sarah? Give me and Buck some alone time?”
You nod, taking the cake from him. “Don’t talk too much shit about me while I’m gone.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Bucky promises, leaning in to kiss you.
“That’s code for he’s definitely going to complain about the struggles of being married to you.”
You throw Sam the middle finger before disappearing down the dock. AJ and Cass run past you again, giggling to themselves as they fire water guns.
You find Sarah at the end, standing in front of a table lined with food.
“A cake for only the best,” You said, bowing down dramatically.
Sarah laughs, curtsying. “Why, thank you my lady.”
“Of course,” you said, giving her a quick hug once she sets the cake down.
“So? How’s the married life?”
You hum, “It’s perfect. Except for when he snores.”
“You get used to it Hun, believe me,” Sarah assured, setting a hand on your shoulder.
“Do you get used to sharing a bathroom?”
Sarah snorts, patting your back. “Nope, never.”
You chuckle, looking out at the dock for your husband. You see him flexing his metal arm, both kids hanging off it. He laughs, casually holding a conversation with Sam as they desperately try to weigh him down.
Was it too soon to have kids?
Probably not, Bucky’s technically 106. He’s well past the age of having children. He was always so good with Sam’s nephews you wonder what he would be like with your own.
Better, that’s for sure.
Bucky meets your eyes and he winks, gesturing for you to come over. You don’t have to be told twice and you’re by his side in seconds.
“Hi,” He smiled, kissing you as the kids scream.
“Hi,” You giggled. “What’s going on here?”
“A test of strength,” Bucky said, lifting his arm slightly as AJ and Cass hang on for dear life.
You quirk an eyebrow. “I think the kids are winning.”
“Is that so?”
On cue, Bucky drops his arm as the kids squeal falling to the ground.
“Aw!” Bucky pouts. “You guys are too strong for me.”
AJ and Cass cheer, “Yeah we are!”
“Our Uncle is Captain America! He taught us all the moves.”
“Boys!” Sarah calls, “Come get a plate!”
“Bye Uncle Buck!” They said before running towards their mom.
Bucky loops his fingers through the belt hoops of your jeans, tugging you to his chest.
“Whatcha thinking about, pretty girl?”
“Us.”
“Mm, what about us?”
“I think we’d have pretty cute kids.”
“You want kids?” Bucky asked softly.
You nod, wrapping your arms around him. “Yeah, I do. You’re so good with Cass and AJ I just started thinking… it’s not too soon is it?”
“You know I’m a big fan of the process, the sooner the better.”
You roll your eyes at his comment. “Bucky.”
He kisses you again, this time it’s slow and tender. “I am so ready to have kids with you, doll. A little girl just as pretty as her momma.”
“I love you,” You said.
“I love you too.”
“The food is getting cold!” Sam shouts, breaking up the moment.
“We’re coming!”

Breathe
Word Count: 1260 Rated: T and up Read on ao3
It's as if Wilhelm can breathe again. Like his chest is no longer collapsed, and is now lifted. Maybe not wholly, but it's getting there.
He holds Simon tight, wrapping his arms around the boy as far as he can reach, refusing to lose him again. Wilhelm never wants this moment to end. It's just them, alone, together, open and vulnerable. But Simon always makes him feel that way. Like he's been seen and heard, like he can be himself.
Simon's fingers tickle the hairs at the base of Wilhelm's neck. Wilhelm presses their foreheads together, steadying himself. Finding himself sure of at least one thing. Of Simon.
Wilhelm had been wondering— no, praying he could fix this. He can't lose Simon. Not this soon, not when Wilhelm has finally found someone who gets him. Who understands him.
"We should get back," Simon whispers, fingers trailing up from Wilhelm's shoulders to tangle into his hair and gently massage the base of his skull. Wilhelm leans into the touch, so delicate and gentle. "Wille," Simon whispers half-heartedly, seeming as lost in the moment as Wilhelm.
Wilhelm pretends he doesn't hear and instead moves to press his nose to the crook of Simon's neck. Breathing the boy in, savouring the waves of coconut that trace through each curl and across his skin.
Wilhelm inhales, then exhales.
Simon shivers when Wilhelm's lips brush against the tender flesh below his ear. "Wille," Simon warns again, though Wilhelm can tell there's no real threat behind his name.
"Don't want to," Wilhelm mutters, nuzzling further into Simon's hold. Ignoring the scratchy material of the other boy's gown as it rubs uncomfortably against his cheek.
Since everything had become so complicated, all Wilhelm has wanted is to wrap his arms around Simon and hold him close. All he's wished for is to press his lips against his and find comfort there. Find Simon's soft and tender embrace, and lose himself in it.
There's always been underlying anxiety trailing Wilhelm throughout his life. But with Simon, when the entire world is shut and away when it's just them, Wilhelm feels like he can be himself. Like he can finally breathe.
"Neither do I," Simon mumbles, giving in by rocking his forehead against Wilhelm's and tilting his head to press their lips together. It's peaceful and soft. It's everything Wilhelm needed and more.
Wilhelm melts as Simon tucks his bottom lip between both of Wilhelm's. Holding for a beat, then capturing Wilhelm's top lip through the rhythm Simon has set. One that matches the intense pulse pumping through Wilhelm's veins. It's comforting. It's perfect.
It's them.
Simon pulls back slightly, but Wilhelm quickly follows the boy's lips with his own. Capturing them once more, breathing him in and easing his mind.
Everything will be okay. Simon is here. Simon is with him. Everything will be okay.
Simon's hands gently land on Wilhelm's hips as he pulls away for the second time. Wilhelm doesn't chase him this time. Instead, his gaze anchors desperately on Simon's, searching for something, anything. Reassurance maybe? He combs through the nearly-black pools of Simon's eyes, drowning in how much their hearts ache for each other. Wilhelm doesn't find comfort, but rather, he discovers a warmth that settles the loneliness in his chest.
"We should go," Simon says, hands still firmly planted on Wilhelm's waist, "before someone comes looking for you."
"Just a little longer?" Wilhelm asks, eyes moving to Simon's lips as they press together, thinking. Simon then licks his lips, wanting.
After a pause, Simon nods, silently agreeing that they're allowed to take a moment to simply be with each other. To savour the other's space, to appreciate their time.
Wilhelm inhales deeply, chest rising and falling, slow and steady for the first time in what feels like forever. Wilhelm collapses forward once more, pulling Simon entirely back into his arms. Smooth hands glide across his lower back with equal desperation, catching on the material of his gown, lifting it slightly around his ankles.
"I missed you," Wilhelm whispers against Simon's ear.
"Me too," Simon breathes in response.
Wilhelm feels the rise and fall of Simon's chest against his. Their lugs work at the same rhythm as their kisses. Rising and falling in tandem, like they were meant for each other. Meant to breathe the other in and find comfort through their touch, their words, their everything.
It seems as though they stand holding each other for hours, and when Wilhelm looks at the clock, he registers that it's actually been fifteen minutes since they'd entered the classroom.
"Shit," Wilhelm breaks their intense connection, replacing it with something equally as intense but less sombre. "We have to get back," he says, "they'll be starting any minute now."
As Wilhelm pulls back, Simon keeps his grip on Wilhelm's hips, and he doesn't mind one bit.
Simon huffs a breath of amusement. "Hm," he pretends to ponder, "it's almost like someone was trying to warn you about that, not only five minutes ago," he remarks, clearly teasing. The weight in Wilhelm's chest lifts slightly, growing into hope as they fall back into their familiar banter.
"Shut up," Wilhelm responds with a chuckle, pressing a soft kiss to Simon's lips, holding them together and swivelling Simon's body so Wilhelm can guide him back toward the door. Their feet rock together, swaying back and forth, finding that same rhythm, each step followed by another kiss. A dance almost.
Wilhelm can feel Simon's smile begin to press against his mouth once Simon's back meets the door. Wilhelm presses him against it, closing any distance between them as their bodies align. Simon's fingers curl around the material of Wilhelm's gown when he cradles Simon's cheeks. Their kisses still fall into each other, stretching out these moments for as long as they can. Wilhelm angles his head downward, deepening the kiss. Simon's grip on Wilhelm's gown pulls tighter.
Wilhelm eventually eases off, only for Simon to chase him this time. All while blindly searching behind him, failing to find the door handle. Wilhelm chuckles between the press of Simon's lips. He thinks Simon's about to tell him to 'shush,' but there's no time because Wilhelm kisses kisses kisses until he hears the lock click and the door open as Simon stumbles backward slightly. Their lips fall apart, and Wilhelm misses them instantly. Thankfully, as the door swings open, they manage to keep themselves from tumbling to the ground.
Wilhelm imagines his eyes are wide, shocked by the sudden events, but they quickly soften when Simon's laugh sings through the hall, and he loses himself in the smile that results from it. It's the first one Wilhelm has seen since everything happened. It's as if he's seeing the sun again, warm and brilliant against his skin. Chest bursting with so many unrecognizable things.
"Let's go," Simon says, extending his hand for Wilhelm to take. Which he does. Wilhelm clasps his palm against Simon's like he'll never let go. He doesn't want to. But the faint glow of students milling around outside, checking their phones and circling together to keep warm, is enough for their hands to fall away as quickly as they came together.
They glance at the other at the same time. Sharing a look that says they still ache for each other, but it's better this way. That they still want each other, but they can't right now. But there's a glint in Simon's eye and a smirk on his lips that tells Wilhelm they might be able to, one day.

One tracking the other down at lunch and making them accept food that they personally made because they know the other person doesn’t have a lunch that day.  - Not a relationship one, but a headcanon that reader fills the boys' fridge when they can to make sure they're eating well and not just pizza.
I am soft already 🥺
I’m making this in headcanon style as to cover all the lads.
Tumblr media
Listen Raph EATS™️
The calorie intake in this man is insane so naturally carbs are like go to
But there’s more to carbs than just pizza and yes sometimes he’s caught up in patrols and training and sleep and it’s easier to inhale six boxes of pizza
Living alone has taught you to make meals for yourself or meal prep but now you find yourself making more portions. Pastas, meats, stews etc
You bring them down while their out patrolling and place them in the fridge with sticky notes for who gets what, the more fatty and high calories ones usually reserved for Raph
He catches you one night though and he’s legit like giddy cause you’re cooking is his fucking favorite and he’s already getting his designated container out and digging in
You can’t help but feel a slight blush cause Raph can be so serious and moody but he is legit stuffing his face with a happy smile and telling you that he loves how you effortless season the meat and tenderize it. He’s just a happy big lad.
Tumblr media
Oh god does Donnie need to be fed
This motherfucker has gone days without a proper meal at times
It’s to the point that you’ve set up alarms on his phone to REMIND HIM TO EAT
And not snack, A MEAL
So you’ll drop by with food all the time at all hours of the day. Thankful for those 24hr places or you’re own cooking.
You’ll barge into the lab and announce it’s time to eat and you’ll force him to stop whatever he’s doing so he eats with you.
You make it easier for him by asking him questions about his projects, he likes feeling he isn’t slacking off and talking over his ideas helps him reach answers to questions he might have
Donnie is so hideously smart and you love hearing him talk cause you’ll flex the knowledge he drops on you with your coworkers
One of the things he’s a huge sucker for is sweets so you usually grab dessert for him along with the food. You can’t comprehend where he puts it all cause he’s so lean and when he does sit down to eat his appetite rivals Raph’s
And trust me Donnie secretly loves that you know his tastes so well.
April calls one day to ask what the guys want and without missing a beat you blurt out exactly what Donnie’s order is and you tell her you’ll Venmo her some extra cash to grab him a tiramisu
He feels really fuzzy on the inside when you do that
Tumblr media
This lads eating habits are frightening honestly, mostly because he eats combos he creates that you’re sure should either kill a man or at least give them heartburn for six weeks straight
But he is the one that most devours pizzas and can eat it for a week straight if you don’t watch him
Mikey is a great cook though but he likes cooking for everybody ya know? He likes sharing his crazy inventions with his loved ones but he sometimes neglects that on himself and just goes for easy stuff
This is something you plan to change naturally
On the occasions that Mikey is patrolling near your place you’ll text him to swing by and get a snack. You’ll grab his backpack and fill it up with all sorts of snacks from healthy to not so healthy and water because orange crush is not a source of hydration
You also leave him silly notes because you both like to make each other laugh with lame jokes or anecdotes and that makes him excited to swing by during patrols to get his night snack
Mikey likes that you try to present all the food groups. Celery sticks, potato chips, ham sandwiches, an ice cream sandwich, like seriously you spoil him. It’s pretty easy though because Mikey is actually the only one of the brothers who’ll eat ANYTHING. Seriously he’ll try anything and that’s kinda fun cause he’s honest about it.
You know he might get in trouble when he starts to blow off the last couple of hours of patrol to spend it with you eating and laughing. He’s always dropped everything to spend time with his two favorite things: food and you
Tumblr media
Leo is pretty on top of his diet. Yes he’ll eat pizza cause it’s a nice comfort food but he does tend to switch away to other things more than Mikey will.
In his case is, he will literally forget to eat
He’ll go ham on his training and patrolling and when he starts feelings a little nauseous and dizzy it’ll hit him that maybe he skipped a meal.
Queue you, you always ask him if he’s eaten. Wether in person, in text or on the phone and if he so much as makes a thinking face or sound you’re already telling him to come by or to sit tight
And something that absolutely and I do mean ABSOLUTELY KILLS HIM is that you can make sushi from scratch and when you show up with three bento boxes all for him, he can almost squeal with joy
Boy loves his sushi, any Oriental cuisine really. Ramen, bibimbap, coconut curry, bubble tea. You like to poke fun at him and arrive with a buffet by announcing “here’s your food you weeb” oh but it’s you who recommends him anime’s and rants to him about storylines etc
You find it really sweet that he’ll share the food you brought him even if you’ve told him twenty times that you already ate
He’s a sneak cause he’ll offer you pieces of sushi while you rant about thing but you do notice that he gives you the nicer pieces.
And you don’t miss that he gives you half his bubble tea
Why he gotta be such a caretaker???
You don’t mind though, you like how happy he is sharing his food with you and he seems to like feeding you.

I‘m a hayffie stan myself and I didn‘t mean to insult you or be rurde when I asked why Effie loves Haymitch. I actually wanted to hear your thoughts on it. Like there are always reasons why you love someone, right? It was more a question like „What did Haymitch do that Effie fell in love with him?“ because as much as I love them both, I sometimes wonder. I personally wouldn‘t just fall in love with someone if there‘s no real reason or if they don‘t act a certain way. Do you get what I mean? Lol sorry I‘m so bad in wording my thoughts. I didn‘t mean to be rude or anything
Ah okay. No I'm the one who's sorry. I'm on guard because of the Effie trolling on the KTVS a while back so when I get questions that can be ambiguous like that I tend to be mistrustful.
Why would Effie fall in love with Haymitch? I think at first it's largely based on her teenage crush that lingers. of course, then they meet and he's atrocious so she nips that in the bud but then comes the lust and lust is a powerful thing. I think the coconuts created an intimacy and in parallel of that they develop a better working relationship. Haymitch doesn't have another victor to share the burden so Effie becomes that, his closest ally, and in turn a very good friend even if they bicker all the time and can't see eye to eye.
So I wouldn't say it's a specific thing that makes her fall in love, I think it's gradual and something that happens but that, in hindsight, for her, was always going to happen because the crush was sort of the basis. I think it's like... They're together in the eye of a dangerous storm and they can only rely on each other because in the Capitol you have to be very careful who you trust. Plus, he's a tortured man who's been hurt a lot and overcome a lot and she feels sorry for the part the Capitol played and there might be a component where she wants to fix that or make it better. But, above all, she's a very clever woman who respects someone of an equal cleverness who also acknowledges she is more than a pretty face (because people tend to dismiss her but after a couple of years, no matter the state of their relationship, Haymitch realizes she's clever and relies on that). He sees the real her, I think, and he likes the real her and she might in time feel freer to be vulnerable with him because of that. He is also a good man behind the pain and the walls and the drinking, there is no denying that. He's someone she can trust.
So yeah it's a lot of things added together. I really don't think it starts with her being in love. It starts with a crush, a lot of disappointment and loathing, a very good dose of lust that slowly morphes into friendship, tenderness and, yeah, love.

"You still not done yet, doll?" Bucky announced for the 107th time. He was like that donkey in Shrek that kept on trying to annoy you.
Y/N and Bucky had gone shopping for their apartment. She thinks that Bucky's apartment needed more furniture especially that she was finally living with him. Y/N wanted a dash of homey features, and not a bachelor pad that seemed dull and plain. Bucky didn't like the idea at first, but he was left with no choice when she woke him up early and promised lots of cuddles and kisses in return, to which he quickly agreed to without any second thought.
"I think we need some more flowers, I think white tulips should do! It'll be perfect! Oh, and those too!" Y/N pointed at a set of flowers in a plain, elongated sky blue vase. Bucky was feeling the urge to pee since a while ago, he thought they were about to finish their to-buy-list, however Y/N ought to buy more things that weren't listed on their notepad.
Bucky observed both of his gloved hands in front of him, hesitating what to use in grabbing you. Despite of how comfortable he was with you, Bucky was still being cautious about his metal arm. You've talked to him about it a lot, yet he still wouldn't budge at certain times.
Your giant plum bear apprehensively took his lip in between his teeth. His dazzling blue eyes fully taking you in, emitting a glint of sparkle deep within. He languidly clasped his gloved metal hand on your arm, before it soothingly traveled down your elbow.
You quickly shut your mouth when you felt the hairs on your back stood up from his touch. His touches still gives you the goosebumps, and it was the good, satisfying types of goosebumps. Definitely not the bad ones. "Y-Yeah?"
Bucky couldn't help but give a small smile, he felt it. He knew how his touches can affect you that badly, and being the cocky man he is, his hand that was once clasped around your arm was now on your hip, his thumb caressing your pelvic bone in tenderness. "I need to use the restroom, doll. Can you wait for me?"
You scoffed, and felt his breathing hit your ear. "No, I'm going to leave you here and go straight home, Barnes." Bucky was quick to huff out his breath like a child. "Come on, doll..This supermarket is like a maze, this is my first time here in about 70 years. I wouldn't get to find you that easily,"
With a grin, you reached for his metal gloved hand resting on your hip, giving it a gentle pat to assure him that it was okay. "I was kidding, Buck. You go do your thing while I continue shopping. I'm just one call away, remember? Still not used to your Iphone?"
You felt him go closer, and before you know it. Bucky's chin was now on your shoulder, nuzzling his face in your hair. A sigh escaped your lips when you realized you just washed your hair this morning, so it obviously smelt like fragrant aloe/coconut/lavender. Yes.  "I would never get used to it. The damn thing makes me frustrated."
"Yeah, Tony told me you've broken more than what a normal person can break a phone," A set of yellow, fake daffodils that was placed high above you on a display shelf caught your eye. Y/N can't help but tiptoe her way towards it. The white, plain, oblong shaped vase slightly tapping the tips of her fingers. She couldn't reach it, and so Bucky being the gentleman he is, did it for her like it was habit to help his girlfriend all the time. "Told you to stick to android phones instead, Buck. It's less complicated."
Bucky inspected the flowers in his hand, slightly nodding to himself. He approved the flowers, it looked beautiful and perfect just like you.
He turned away, leaning down to gently place the vase in your half filled cart. "They're the same, doll. I've tried one..I think it was called a Sun-sang, but I still ended up breaking the screen when I was playing a computerized bird that kept on flapping in between green annoying pipes," Bucky's eyes brimmed as he stared out in nowhere, remembering how he couldn't beat Peter's highest score in it, having the feel to beat your friend just to show who was the best.."That bird," He thought to himself, getting lost in his train of thoughts.
"It's called a Samsung, Darling." You stand corrected, his broad, cuddly back in view. The urge to hug the daylights out of him made you wrap around your arms around his waist in which he gladly accepted.
"Refrain from saying that. It makes me remember Sam's name and his god damn pranks on me, Doll."
You nodded, peeking beside Bucky as you looked at your cart. Counting and checking what was still needed in your cart full of perishable and imperishable goods. "Yeah, yeah. Now, go pee before you pee in your pants just like the old man you are," Y/N giggled, untangling her arms that was encircled around his waist as she walked around their cart to reach the other side of it, her notebook now in hand as she ticked the goods that can now be considered off the list.
Bucky playfully narrowed his eyes at her, she was definitely teasing him again. "Oh, wait until we get back to our apartment," He warned and started walking off, until he seemed to forget something..and so, Bucky strolled back towards her. Gently grabbing her shoulders to turn her body towards him. Y/N's eyes were now wide, skeptically gazing up at her smiling boyfriend. She was completely stupefied when she saw him smiling so wide. A strand of his brunette hair falling on his eye, she didn't hesitate to reach and tuck it behind his ear in pure affection.
Bucky felt his heart pound, warmth spreading through every vein in his body. He set his eyes on you lovingly, "Kiss me before I go, Sugar."
You can't help but shake your head in disbelief, a smile threatening to tear your face in half. "You're unbelievable, Barnes." Y/N took his face in her hands, giving him one sweet smooch on his plump, cherry red lips.
"So worth it, Doll!" Their hearts were jumping out of their chests, such felicity wrapped around the couple and most importantly was the joy they feel whenever they were in each other's arms..It was a precious sight to see Bucky smiling rather than being grumpy like the first time she met him.
Bucky was now off towards the restroom. Y/N kept her distance around the area where he left her. She couldn't help but get distracted from the lists that were still waiting to be ticked. The couple still needed to buy foods and they were still in the furniture department. She thought that maybe if she waited, they'll be taking more time staying in the mall. Y/N decided to grab some of the groceries listed and decided to just walk back after five minutes to where Bucky left her.
Y/N pushed her cart. Well, she took longer than five minutes when she came back to the furniture department. She was met with a group of teenagers plumping themselves on a big, leather black sofa, randomly trying to take pictures of themselves. Y/N began to pull a grimace when she saw no Bucky Barnes waiting for her from where he left her, guessing that maybe Bucky decided to leave her shopping all by herself.
She checked her phone and saw nothing but a text from Steve that probably took him minutes to type asking about how Bucky was. Y/N quickly replied to the star spangled Avenger, locking her phone then slipping it inside the pocket of her jacket after giving Steve a text back.
No beefy walking plum could be seen, Y/N looked all around, even inspected the ceiling, and even under the rows of beds. Negative. There was definitely no Bucky Barnes.
She went back to her cart, palms wrapped around the handle as she looked in her cart. Her eyes caught a bag of chips and it was a big bag of Cheetos. Y/N began glaring at the unhealthy food. They were both in a staring competition until hell freezes over and nobody wants to lose. Somebody was pushing her hand to grab onto the snack, and she was about to be defeated when a sudden loud intercom yelled through the speakers of the huge supermarket called her name..
"Paging Y/N Y/L! Your child is at register 10,"
'What child? I don't have a child?' Y/N thought quietly, totally bewildered. The cart was now neatly kept beside a display shelves full of school supplies, intellectually telling the sales clerks that somebody owns the cart. She trotted, and jogged towards the vicinity. Passing by carts, rows of goods and customers who was looking at her in utter confusion as to why she was in a hurry.
She was far ahead from the area, but she immediately knew it was Bucky who was sitting on a bench, his burly shoulders slightly slumped in feebleness, the furry navy blue sweatshirt could be seen more clearly with every step you take, strands of his majestic brunette hair that was in a bun have fallen on his neck like he frustratingly scratched his head a couple of times while he was finding his way to search for you.
Once you were close enough, such a precious sight was revealed. You were utterly thankful that you were in a relationship with this man. Bucky was fiddling with the leather black gloves of his left metal arm, legs crossed and eyes focused on his hands with an adorable pout that could even make kids point and say their aw's.
"Buck?" Y/N pitifully uttered. Only a deep, disappointed sigh was sent to you. "You left me," Bucky said sounding defeated, eyes still on his gloves, strands of his hair falling on his face, giving you no chance to fully see his saddened eyes. "You left me," He repeated more to himself, the idea of you not waiting for him seemed impossible for his mind to process. "I told you to wait for me, but you didn't. My Iphone's dead,"
"--I can't call you, so I was left with no choice but to page you out," Bucky honestly spoke, voice sounding lower than the usual and smaller. "I looked stupid running around in circles to find you, but I couldn't. Why didn't you wait for me, Doll?"
With one lift of his head, you were met with the most beautiful but dejected eyes you've ever seen. Your boyfriend's eyebrows were furrowed, looking like you left a puppy in the middle of the road with no one wanting to adopt him. Guilt and a tight, heavy tug at your heart brought you to lean down and hug Bucky around his neck, keeping his face in between your shoulder.
"I thought I lost you, I-I thought--I thought they've taken you away from me--"
"Baby, shhhhhh..I'm right here now. Aren't I?" You shushed him sweetly, your hands giving sweet, calming caresses against his broad, ripped back. He couldn't help but love how you were taking care of his sadness, how you can slowly take every pain and misery away, trapping the darkness in a vault and permanently kicking it in the middle of the ocean. Only your light was keeping Bucky in check. Y/N was his sunshine, and you planned to protect him with it.
"I'm sorry..I'm sorry, James. I'm never gonna be distracted again.. Oh, gosh..I think I need to learn to have patience," You felt him nuzzle his nose on your neck, his thick scruff tickling your neck, sneaky lips stealthily kissing the line meeting your neck and shoulder, and you couldn't help but give him a gentle slap on his back to warn his cheeky self, He was a sad child awhile ago and now he was beyond feeling cheeky.
"Bucky. It's Bucky. But, James sounds so good to hear when it comes from your lips, Doll." He playfully informed you, craning his neck to tenderly peck your cheek. You can't help but smile at his sweet gesture. "You know that we still got more things to buy in our list right?"
Bucky straightaway groaned at that. The fluffy bear man was never a fan of doing the groceries. Nevertheless, with you. He's been trying to endure it. "Do I have a choice, Sugar?"
"No," You frankly voiced out, breaking the hug that you were both wrapped in as you stood up straight. Your eyes turning around to look at the slightly packed supermarket. "Unless, you want to stay here all day and let people know you're my child then I guess you'll need to stay,"
Bucky was quick to stand on his feet, tucking a hair that fell on his eye, eyes completely looking embarrassed as he tried hard to cover his face from every person in the supermarket, and that made you giggle. He shook his head in disbelief, "Why did they even call me your child?"
"It's because you're my baby. You have no choice but to deal with it, Barnes." You teased him, leaving your boyfriend having to deal with his reddish cheeks and loud thumping heart. With that, Bucky wholeheartedly joined your grocery adventure and was left having fun picking the right plums, fruits, vegetables, meats and everything needed since you've managed to convince him that he was better at picking foods more than you. It was fun after all.
After that incident and a little scolding from your Bucky's best pal, Steve.. you'd always waited for Bucky to return whenever he had to use the bathroom because you would rather burn holes on the floor from waiting than see your Bucky looking sad and lost once again..
